So addictive you’ll forget to sleep. This game is awesome. I’ve been playing for a few weeks now and it’s a great time killer, even when you have other things to do 😂 I do wish that you could change your starting deck cards without changing your hero. While I’ve unlocked other heroes, I haven’t played with them much because the Gunner ultimately ends up being the best. I think the ability to add more ammo slots to your hero would be nice, as well as having more ammo cards available. Melee cards end up being much more powerful since they don’t cost anything to use. Either way, highly recommended, this game is super fun and I can wait for future updates.

Too much luck and a money grab. I rarely rate games but this deserves some praise and a warning. First, this game could be great. Unfortunately because bosses, enemies and adventures are totally random you can’t plan accordingly. Especially given that the more cards that get unlocked the more random the game becomes. Secondly I would have been happier to pay a few more dollars and not have to grind quite as much. I played for days before barely getting half way to unlocking the second chapter. Then realized you can pay to double gold and relics which should be in the game already. That being said there should be choices each stage and cards restricted on the path to each boss. This would allow more strategy and planning. Choose at each stage the boss you want to fight. If something like this can’t be implemented then I just can’t give it the 5 stars it deserves. Also could maybe find a way to improve the return home instead of continuing to each stage. It doesn’t really seem to do anything helpful.

Frustrating, feels rigged sometimes. Gameplay is pretty fun, and it’s a fine time waster with interesting card combos. However, it frequently feels somewhat rigged. The Tavern Brawl mode is most obvious about it, with round two being virtually unwinnable because the deck is always always always in an order that gives one no good choices. It doesn’t save stats beyond best winning time, but I have played that mode hundreds of times, and only made it to the boss 3 times and only won once. I’ve tried varied strategies, different deck choices, but always round two rolls around and the cards fall in such a way that nothing works out. This is pretty standard for games that include microtransactions, but in the case of this game it doesn’t make sense because there is literally nothing in their shop that would help. They’ve just created an unbalanced frustrating game mode for no benefit. Anyway, I’ve gotten my $1.99 worth out of my original purchase but am going to uninstall now since it’s gone from fun to feeling like I’m at a fixed casino game.

Please fix repute. As title suggests, this game stands out to me. I’m constantly multi tasking and this game is perfect to be able to pickup and put down at any moment without losing progress. Not easy by any means, but I have beat it around 5 or 6 times after grinding to get the sword master. I would be interested in other melee classes if they decide to make them as well. The relics are very cool and I appreciate the pace at which you level up and unlock cards, in a way it forces you to master what you’re given before getting something new. The only problems I have with this game are that sometimes you take damage by attacking for no known reason. No status, no self harming cards, some enemies just hurt you when you attack which is frustrating not to know. The other problem I have is that every time I was able to buy new maps and pirates with respute I had earned, but for whatever reason as soon as I got enough I was unable to use it. Idk what happened, I was really looking forward to the new map and character, but repute doesn’t register when tapped so far only gold

One of the better ones. Bottom line is it’s a great game. Once you start ‘leveling up’ and unlocking characters and regions, it really opens up. The sheer numbers of cards, abilities and enemies available are amazing. Great job overall. Some thoughts: 1. Some cards are just bad compared to others. To be fair, some that I thought were bad at first had used in certain situations, but some are just bad. Maybe audit the decks a bit. 2. Vary the bosses in the Arena. Having variation in Navigation but not in the Arena makes no sense. 3. While I don’t expect to win every time, some of the bosses are just ridiculous. The Keymaster in particular is just stupid. Doubling the minions life every couple of rounds? I got lucky once and killed both minions in the first round. I win?! Nope. He spawned two more shortly after. Even if I can kill him, I’ll have minions with 500+ life waiting for me. That’s not fun. Others aren’t much better - the witch doctors and the guy who halves my life every few rounds are particularly irritating. Nerf some of the bosses a bit.

Best Mobile Game I’ve Ever Played. First, some small critiques: I think having one of your characters cost $4.99 is a bit silly, it would be cool if you would change that to just regular in-game currency. If people want to support the developers, they can just buy gold instead of spending cash on a character they may or may not enjoy. Also, I feel like the gunner is kinda underpowered, maybe I’m just not good with him tho. After the arena update, I spent $8.99 more on this game, and it wasn’t even solely just to skip grinding. This game is genuinely awesome, and if the developers are going to continue working on this game and adding entirely new game modes after I already purchased it, they deserve more money. Thanks for your hard work, I love your game and keep the wonderful updates coming!

Top quality indie card game. Most games that are supported on steam are going to be hits on mobile. This is no exception. Fantastic turn-based card game for big brained RPG lovers. You most likely will not win your first couple matches due to the learning curve. Which is awesome because hard games are fun. Almost all the characters have a unique play style of their own in order to prevent repetition. This is a new game released Aug 28th 2019 so you better believe there is more to come including new characters. The devs have a “roadmap” of updates you could google to find. Try the explorer for easy wins if you are strugglin’. Musician is my favorite to play as, very versatile. 9.5/10 game

Frustrating game, unknown npc effects?. The game is good conceptually, but enemies have random effects that aren’t explained anywhere. I get to stage 3 and all of a sudden enemies are reflecting half of my hp bar from one attack. It’s frustrating when each battle becomes significant. Also, it takes forever to progress. You have to replay the same first level over 10x just to get to the second. Items and rewards for beating the levels also seem pointless because you go back to the starting deck every time you play a new game. I really don’t understand the point of the deck rewards.

Best iOs Game in Awhile. This game is amazing. I’m not even into card games but I decided to take a chance on this one and I’m hooked. A lot of other reviews complain about inbalance and how you cant skip loot cards after each battle. I’ve yet to beat the stage 2 boss but it definitely seems possible and I’m actually enjoying the difficulty. Keeps me coming back and looking for ways to perfect my playstyle. In regards to not being able to skip loot cards, I think it’s an interesting element to the game and it adds to the difficulty. It forces you to have a unique experience each time you play. You can re-roll your loot cards for pretty cheap anyways. If your on the fence about getting this game, then definitely go for it. Edit: beat the level 3 boss a few times and finally bought the 2nd map. Still loving this game with 30+ hours

Wow. Unexpected gem.. UPDATE: just completed soul rift with the new musician character. Best game ever. I love the shifting focus and learning to balance when to change them. Definitely my favorite character. Not as easy as the explorer but more strategic in a way I really enjoy. The updates have been fantastic for this game! This game came out of nowhere for me. On a whim I grabbed it and I’m so glad I did. It really scratches a number of itches. I love deck builders and this is a perfect digital deck builder. It’s very well balanced and allows for a large variety of strategies. The characters you unlock promote truly distinct play styles and require you to learn how to use them. It is great how each character really changes the gameplay significantly. I’m happy to support them with their VERY reasonable DLC. NO ADS! They have done a fantastic job with this game and it really deserves praise and support!

My favorite iOS game. 5 and 1/2 stars. Easily the most satisfying & replayable game on my phone. The strategy is complex, challenging, highly modular, and balanced to make the rare total victories feel like well-earned accomplishments. It perfectly combines luck & skill, as well as endless permutations of power ups, items, and strategies to make each play through unique and just as engaging as the last. In all I spent maybe 10ish bucks on 100+ hours of entertainment. And the developer keeps updating to further build out the world, consistently adding new character and card expansion packs. Would love to work with these guys on the creative side. (Please reach out to me, RhyanSchwartz at gmail, if interested.) The game design — start to finish — is impeccable. Inspiring stuff. Can’t wait to see what they make next.

Slay the Spire on Steroids. This game is absolutely fantastic, and I’ve become addicted. It is most akin to Slay the Spire, as you build a deck each game and gradually fight your way through three sections with a boss at the end of each. Where this game shines, however, is with its replayability. Not only are there many unique characters that completely shift how you play the game, but there are 4 different maps with their own cards, enemies, relics, and bosses. All of this extra content can be purchased using the in game currency “coins,” but if you don’t want to spend money, they can be earned after each game played it a successful bout in the arena. I can’t wait for more content to be added, but as of right now, there’s more than enough to enjoy. A must-play!

Amazing!! If you enjoy rogue-like games, you’ll find a new favorite in Pirate Outlaws.. It combines elements of RPG’s, turn based strategies, and deck-building in a very fun and unique way. Because it is rogue-like it’s a very fast paced game that becomes more complex the more you play. There are countless characters to unlock and play, each with a unique starting deck and skill set that requires a different strategy. There are in-app purchases, most of which are cosmetic or in no way necessary to the game, which is a nice change of pace from the average mobile game, especially given that with the exception of a few minor upgrades that cost real money, everything is purchased with the gold you earn just by playing. I’ve put more time into this game than almost any mobile game I’ve ever played, and am still playing it daily. Cannot recommend enough!

Good game, just a few balancing things. Ive really, really, enjoyed this game and ive played with every hero, and for me, the explorer and the curse captain are a bit lackluster. The explorers starting skill card “Sketch” is worse than “Mirror Image”. It just feels like every other class has some unique playstyle with their cards, and playing with the explorer just lacks some uniqueness, but i still think all of his passives are fine and you can definitely still win with him. The curse captain, to me, is just really annoying. the 5 curse bonus is really annoying. It basically makes “Clipping” kind useless, because you draw about twice as many cards and end up just milling a bunch of your deck. The 7 curse bonus, is a bit iffy for me, i probably just need to use it better, but its kinda of hard to even get to, and when i do, dont even really think i should use it in some situations because other options would be better, and ive never gotten the 9 curse bonus. other than that for me, this game is absolutely fun and unique, and i just cant stop playing, ty for balancing the bosses too.

Easily my favorite game!. I’ve been playing Pirates Outlaws for months. I didn’t get it at first, but kept playing to see if I could get the hang of it. Once I did, it drew me in. And I’ve been playing it weekly, if not daily, ever since. The Dev’s have made several additions since then and each enhances the game more. Such repeatability! I try to master one hero in the brawl or arena, and if I get frustrated, I switch to the chicken to destroy for a little bit! So many options with hero’s, cards, relics, quests, and more makes this game a continuous source of entertainment for me.

Amazing, I pity all that don’t play. This game is amazing. A super clean art style/design, and overall stunning gameplay, with countless routes and options in this game it never fails to entertain me. While I’m not a big fan of games where you need to place cards, this game has swayed me in every way . And as I need to admit I enjoyed this game so much I spent 20$ which the game didn’t spam with options to pay money. I’ve gotten to the final boss around 10 times and always fail, I’m not sure how much “repute” you get when you kill him but I hope it’s a lot because I can’t get new characters other than one until I keep getting more. But best game I’ve played in a long time. 10 out of 10 would recommend

Fun and addictive, could use some tweaks. Solid mechanics; fast pace; easily navigable user interface; clean, modern, visually appealing graphics. However, gameplay needs a little work. My biggest problem is that, even after hours and hours spent repeating Navigate dozens of times, overall progress is so slim it gets discouraging. Adding an extra card to the loot and market every now and then has minimal impact; you’ve gotta be lucky enough for them to show up, and if they’re available at the market there’s a good chance you simply don’t have enough gold. One way to improve this might be to upgrade your pirate’s perks or increase health after hitting certain milestones. I know there are potions in the shop, but they don’t really do much for all the effort required to save enough money for purchase. I get that the game is supposed to be grindy, but this is a bit much. Another thing is the card descriptions. For some of the skill cards, it’s unclear whether the effect (e.g., damage, injury, etc.) applies to you or the enemy or if the card will be removed from the battle or the game. Other than that, I agree with the commenter who suggested some more dramatic animations and cut scenes, and maybe some more music variety. I rarely review games, and am only doing so because I like this one a lot and want to see it get even better!

Great game with glaring flaw.. This game itself is really fun, it hooks you and I almost have no qualms with the gameplay itself. The only gripe I have is I wish there were more animations playing during battle, it gets really boring really quickly seeing the same animation for every attack. Not sure how the game got released without animations. My main gripe though is the progression, which seems to be everyone else’s complaint as well after doing research. For a paid game, you should NOT have in-app purchases. If you do, then they should NOT be required. I have played for over 10 hours now and I’m only at 800 gold, the next hero costs 4000 gold. It takes WAY too long to get enough coins to buy new characters. If the devs fixed the progression and the animations I would gladly give this a 5 Star review.

Maritime Slay the Spire. I have played many turn based games in my time and this is one of the most enjoyable I’ve encountered. I never review and I never consistently play mobile games but this game got me to do both. I am by no means a mobile gamer but I think this game is very deserving of 5 stars. Great fluid combat, interesting cards and mechanics, and interesting character choices make this game great. I will say this game is not for those who do not like to grind. It is also not for those who do not like IAP. I think this game deserves the cash I’ve spent and I will continue to support it as long as it is being supported by the developers. The only complaint I have is that the “AP” system seems kind of tacked on. The only real use I can see for it is limiting the amount of gold you have late game so that you don’t have a near limitless supply. Even then, it feels like a very unnecessary addition to the game. From a realism standpoint, even though this game isn’t very realistic, it makes no sense to me why your ship would take damage to the point that it sinks from doing what it was built to do, sail! Overall great game and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a grindy mobile game to sink some free time into

Other reviews are wrong. I’ve read other reviews saying the the in app purchases are excessive but that couldn’t be further from the truth. This is not a simple you win card game. Being a rogue-like the game is built on strategizing and taking chances on every move you make. Sometimes you will go extremely far only to die from your ship crashing in a event. It’s not fair all the time but it’s not supposed to be. If you play enough you will unlock all of the extra content the game has to offer. People who are reviewing this game don’t seem to understand the game this obviously based after. Slay the Spire is what inspired this games creation and other people don’t seem to have even played it and yet constantly put it in their reviews. I have played both games and in reality this game for the most part is easier than Slay the Spire. This is a solid app and very much worth the price

Really Nice Game, But.... I’ll admit, I’m not very good at Slay the Spire, and so far I’m not very good at this game either. That never stopped me from loving Slay the Spire—which this game almost copies in mechanics, save for the nuanced differences—however Pirates Outlaws has some...glaring issues with deck building. More than just having in-app purchases for a mobile game you have to buy, I find the inability to skip looting cards almost as bad. I’m not great when it comes to building a good Slay the Spire deck, but if there’s one thing I learned it’s that deck size and card selection matters A HECK OF A LOT. Maybe I’ve yet to find this games alternative to paying for card removals, and if so I hope to find it one day. Otherwise, due to card RNG and other probabilities, it will be entirely impossible to build any deck of strength AND SIZE capable of consistently getting plenty of coins each run, let alone do well enough to beat this game. Unless you’re amazing at Slay the Spire, then there’s a stronger possibility...I guess.

Like Slay the Spire with frustrating IAP. I picked up this game because I love Slay the Spire and the pirate theme, but so far I’ve found it more frustrating than fun. It seems designed to make you lose unless you pay for upgrades. I don’t know how many times I’ve been in a fight where the cards I’m dealt are exactly the opposite of what are needed. A turn where all the enemies are attacking? I get no defense cards. Need 1 point of ranged attack to finish off an enemy who’s about to kill me? Sorry, only melee and ammo cards. It happens too frequently to be a coincidence. Not to mention the frustration of running out of action points mid-cruise and having to abandon the game. Such a lame mechanic. I’ve put in quite a few hours trying to grind to get better cards and heroes, but I’m ready to give up and just go back to StS. At least with that I feel like good deck management can make a difference. In this game you’re out of luck unless you’re willing to shell out more money for upgrades.

Great game, but serious grind.... First off, the game experience overall is phenomenal. I love the art style, and the experience is relatively clutter free with a set of cards that allow for cool combos, overall strategies, etc. I My biggest gripe is the grind for out of game gold to unlock heroes/level and the rate of advancement to unlock new cards. To the developer’s credit IAP won’t prevent you from enjoying single game sessions or playing much as you like. It is a bane if you are an unlock / completionist junkie though. You could play for several hours and maybe unlock a new hero and some cards. This is clearly a game that wants you to come back and play it over and over again for months ( or to drop a bunch of cash on the spot ). And to be honest, while the game is good it isn’t THAT good. Second biggest gripe is no online backup of your in game progression. I have a tendency to overdo my gaming sometimes, and in response I often uninstall apps ( at least for a while ). While my App Store purchase of the Admiral was restorable all of my grinding unlocks were lost.

My favorite game. I love this game the first time that I ever saw it was when my uncle was playing it and it looked like a great game and not that hard to understand because I was about 9 at the time and when I got home I immediately bought it and loved it now about 3 years later I have just downloaded the game again and can’t get enough it’s so good so if you have and doubt of this game then that would be crazy the only thing that is a little bad is that the amount of money you get from finishing a voyage is not much and that is where all beginner start and the next character that I want is worth 8,000 coins but besides that this a great game and if the developers read this make sure to give yourselves a pay on the back.

Great game, few addition ideas. I’ve never been a fan of digital card games, but this one’s honestly a blast and I can’t stop playing. Visuals are amazing and the game plays spectacular. I have three suggestions for the developers, if they read this. The first is to add some transitions or cinematic before and after a fight. It feels a little bland cutting straight from your boat on the sea to a fight, and then from your finishing blow to the loot screen. Simply making your final hit slow motion would make each fight feel a little more important, or giving some quick, dramatic cinematic at the start would give each fight a little more depth to it. Secondly, I think some of the combat sounds could be swapped for something more suiting. I haven’t played the entire game yet, but I feel like the gun shots could have more of a crack to them, and the smoke bomb, punch, shield, etc. could have a little more individuality. Lastly, (although this could come later, I haven’t played all the way through), I personally want to see a little more individuality for the players experience. What I mean by that is adding some dialogue, or letting the player recruit a few pirates to join their adventure.

Fun, but limited. This is one of those games for people who think that grind is fun. As an example of grind, you can’t seem to deckbuild between games, and then your ability within a “run” or whatever it’s called is incredibly limited. Which means to get all the good stuff you just have to grind and grind and grind until you’ve uncovered all the cards then try to maximize whatever you’ve found during a run. I suppose this prevents megadeck creation but also similar means if you just find crap, well, sorry but you lost through no fault of your own; I guess that’s where you take bad game design and say “no, roguelike!” It’s a lot of fun when the RNG grants you the right amount of good cards so you can feel like you’re progressing but also having risk and you can make actual tactical decisions but I’ve also lost on map 1 a few islands in because well it just came up that way. Might as well just flip a coin; heads, I get a bowl of ice cream, tails I hit myself with a hammer. Roguelike!

Really Really Fun. I got the game a while ago and it’s really fun with minor bugs which all games have. It’s very addicting and a good time passer and for me there’s only one problem with it. It takes a long while to get the gold you need for unlocking new characters, maps etc. I would love for the game to make it so you make the gold a little faster than what it is now. One other thing is when you use some cards that heal like good sleep/good rest(or whatever it’s called) if you accidentally drag it onto an enemy it gives them the health and it’s happened to me quite a lot. If you guys could fix the two things that I’ve mentioned it would be one of my favorite games.

An incredible entry in the “Deck Battler” genre. As someone who loves Slay the Spire, this game is really a breath of fresh air. Different enough to be exciting, but similar enough to be familiar. There needs to be an option to disable/reduce the length of animations. Every shuffle adds like 3 seconds to your time, which sounds like nothing but adds up quickly when you’re shuffling one or more times every turn. Whenever you draw a card like Recycle Ammo that has an effect when you draw it, you get this annoying little pause which probably lasts a full second. Again, sounds like nothing but you really notice over the course of a full run how much time is wasted just waiting for animations to finish.

GET THIS GAME !!. I'm someone who usually doesn't give feedback on games or apps, but this one deserves it. More people need to know how good it is! If you're someone who wants their money to be spent wisely, I recommend this game (It's such a low price too! And as someone who is currently in school without a job, any money I have is taken seriously.) You may not be into card games, but this one is easy to learn, good to play on-the-go, and super fun. That was the case for myself. I was hesitant at first, but I can't pry myself away from the game now! The gameplay is also based on your options in events or battles. This is a function I absolutely love. The game really requires you to strategize your next moves. If the gameplay alone can't sell you on this, the sound, graphics, and sheer quality of this game should. It's such a crisp game that runs incredibly smooth. If you're looking for something quick or a time killer, this is for you! Overall, this game is entertaining, clean, and definitely worth your time and money.

Missing Something. This is seriously one of the best card games on the App Store. I love the artwork and the wide variety of cards, which allows for lots of different gameplay. However while playing this game I couldn’t help but feel like it was missing something crucial. If the developers are reading this I recommend some way to change up the gameplay from person to person. A way to make people develop specific strategies that they enjoy playing. There is a lot of potential I think, adding different factions to join for questing to make gold easier could also benefit the game and could open up the game to possible pvp battles. However with this review I vouch that this is one the best games I have played in a while on my phone and kept me occupied for ages. I seriously recommend this game as a casual game for everyone.

A bit too hardcore. A little too hardcore, but most of it is fun, i didnt try the admiral but most of the heros are worse than sword master, which make buying them less rewarding. You really need more work on balance between sheild, hp, reload and enemy attacks, so far sword master is the only hero i manage to finish a game, because most other heros end up having a handful of cards but no ammo to play with. Btw quests are too hard and not reward well(i mean buying treasure map cost more than 400 silver? Seriously? How do you think i can save that many and make it to stage 3), achievement has no reward at all, therefore has no meaning to pursue. It is definitely not the best game for a beginner. Period.

Only app/game I’ve ever reviewed. This is the only App Store software that I have ever loved enough to even bother writing a review. If you like slay the spire, DOWNLOAD THIS IMMEDIATELY. When I first Played slay the spire I was disheartened when I went looking for similar games because there aren’t many. Similarities to Slay the spire aside, it certainly stands on its own, even though it seems to be a carbon copy sometimes (I have absolutely no problem with that because I love slay the spire) I highly recommend this game to anyone, regardless whether they have played STS or haven’t. The perfect game for playing in a taxi, on a bus, riding shotgun ETC. 5 stars and for my interests there’s probably not another game out there developed for mobile that is as addictive as this one.

Pirates Outlaws. This is so great! One of only 3 card games that I've kept on my device for more than a week after purchasing. Every single aspect of the game is done so well (mechanics, graphics, sound/fx, rewards/IAP/unlocks ratios, EVERYTHING). Yes, it might be a little slow moving to get things unlocked for those of us who are either unwilling or unable to purchase currency through an IAP, but if you're looking for a game that you can keep on your device for 6 months or more and most likely still be unlocking new stuff after a year of playing:;: THIS is a game for you! There's only 1 character (out of 10 or so) that is locked behind a $5 IAP, but the rest can be unlocked with currency earned in-game. And each character basically COMPLETELY changes the game (think Imbroglio), there's also an Arena (endless) Mode that you should be able to unlock the first month of playing (though, I do think it'd be better if the developers didn't have this locked behind a sort of experience wall), and 4 different areas (3 of which are also locked behind experience+currency walls) - and TONS of cards to find and unlock (also card packs to purchase with currency you win while playing). And then once you have everything fully unlocked, this game is HUGE. Fantastic job, devs!!! You've earned yourselves a new fan that's going to most likely buy everything you release in the future (I'll only skip out on puzzle and FPS games - anything else, though, I'm ON IT!!). FULLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Fake strategy. This game looks good on the surface the art style is nice the music is so so the base for a real roguelike card game is there but when you get down to it your 100% dependent on rng to get past even the first boss because if you don’t get enough shield cards or damage your dead and since we’re on the cards topic let’s talk about healing cards spawn chances I have played 25 games in those 25 games I haves 1healing card 7 times and I have only had more then 1 in 3 runs this is ludicrous they are almost essential to not die after stage 1 I saw almost because I have barely made it to stage 2 boss with no healing cards and I do mean barley I had 11hp ok ranting done there are a few ways to easily fix this 1. Let players make there own deck from cards they have already discovered 2. Make more random encounters or just pump up the spawn rate on healing cards and 3. Make the markets have more card stock. If the card thing is fixed this game is an easy 4 star maybe even 5 but for now this is where it stands fake strategy simple as you get. Thanks to those that read this far my recommendation for this app is fun for a bit but not to get super deep into.

Huge favorite! Great gameplay but the cost of new heroes is too dang high. Love this game, its bear perfect except for the high cost of new heroes compared to how much “Repute” you get to buy heroes. I’m all for working to unlock things but it just seems insurmountable to get not only 1000 for one of the lower cost heroes but 8000 seems nigh impossible. Otherwise this game is excellent, great mechanics and quick gameplay and it’s autosave is great, since that can be dicey for an app game. And the art is beautiful, its really one of my frequently played phone games, especially in quick bursts.

Great game, a little grindy. Overall, this is a great "deck building" game, in the style of Dream Quest, Night of Full Moon, or Slay the Spire. The graphics are fine, if painterly, and the mechanics are complex and deep. Characters feel sufficiently varied and unique, and there's a lot of breadth of content. In fact, it's a shame that the game relies on IAP, as it would easily be worth $5-10 for the base game, and more for the expansions or DLC characters. Some Quests are annoying (e.g. the recruiting quests) and at least one Achievement is needlessly tedious ("The Chosen One"), but mostly they just add replay value. Instead, it's clear that the Developers want you to pay for progress via In-App Purchases (IAP), as without the bonus to your XP and Gold, unlocking the full content would take hundreds and hundreds of hours. It’s a shame, too, because the game itself is not too bad. If it cost $5 upfront and another $1 or $2 for the map expansions, it would likely be far more enjoyable, but instead they’ve opted to nickel and dime players. **UPDATE** I do appreciate the quick Developer response, and I think it’s great that they’re adding more and more content. The new gold and XP gains are more generous than before, so I’ve amended my review to reflect that. The added depth and breadth of the new content updates—not to mention bug fixes and re-balancing—make this game easy to recommend. Just be prepared to either grind for a long time or pay cash for the full game.

Good. That’s all.. Just an average game with mico transactions. If you want gold quickly, you could spend $2.99, or you can play the game and get gold slowly. Playing the game gets repetitive and boring if you’re playing just to get gold, because you’re not guaranteed to reach a market to get more HP and you don’t get enough coins after every battle to buy HP. So in other words, since every battle doesn’t give you enough coins to buy HP, it means you fail and have to start all over again losing all your coins. Which is generally what the game is design to if you’re playing to get gold. Which is annoyingly stupid. Sadly you have to save your coins and fail fail fail fail fail and restart numerous of times. But that’s mostly what all games that are free or have a price tag with mico transactions on the store, do. Game wants you to mange your coins and decide when to buy HP. Again, it’s annoyingly dumb.

Great concept, lazy execution. Great little game. Simple and fun. But why did you allow beneficial abilities to work on opponents. Or debuts to be cast on me? This was SO simple to trap and make the game swift and playable. Instead one accident can screw up your entire game. Fix these: should not be able to use armor ability accidentally on a bad guy, should not be able to use heal on a bad guy, should not be able to use crab pincer on myself, etc etc. This is just crap testing and obvious error catching. You’ve made it so I have to drag every ability all the way across the screen instead of just picking the cards I wan to play and playing them in the single and only obvious way. Come on, you can do better.

Great game overall, BUT.... This game is just a great card game that tests your skills And luck. But the thing that makes me slightly disappointed is that quests are VERY difficult, I mean like VERY Hard. You need to be VERY lucky a lot of times and games. I really wanted to get vigilante so badly and it is hard. Can you please make the quest easier? Or can You add an option that you pay money to unlock? For example, I have 500 hundred reputation, and to be able to perches cursed captain you need to get too 1000 reputation to be able to perches him or pay for example, 5$ for a specific character, so you would ignore the the demands to unlock the character and be able to bye it with in game currency. I hope this will be added to the games so people that have a hard time doing the A reputed quest or are just to lazy to finish the quest. Overall like I said, it’s a Great GAME!!!!

Fun ... damentally flawed. This game needs better play testers, no IAPs, and more frequent updates. With those things it would be a top 5 all-time game. As it stands, it is impossible to recommend. Brutally hard already (which is fine), slowest of slow grinds (less fine), and with a random number generator that suspiciously errs on the side of not giving you things you could be paying for (not fine at all). Add to that the numerous buggy, mislabeled, or simply misleading cards and this is a recipe for frustration. The list of cards I can't use because they have failed to work at a key moment is extremely long. The new content is fine, but I'd rather the devs spent the time to make this consistently playable in a way that actually seems reasonably fair.

Decent fun for the price. There’s a lot of content in this game and it certainly is fun, but it gets stale pretty quickly in my opinion. Unlike Slay the Spire, there are too many classes/characters and none of them feel particularly good. Maybe I didn’t play it enough, but I never got to the point where I could consistently get good combos or synergistic cards. The RNG feels off with this game. I don’t think cards in this are random, nor should they be, but unlike STS the available options feel like they’re pigeonholing you into very particular builds rather than giving you the option to be fully creative.

I am stuck. 1. I have gotten to a point and I am stuck the only thing I can really do is grind and unlock characters but it is a really good game I just wish I could get more coins to unlock more things. 2. I have made it to level 39-40 in the arena and the boss at 40 is brutal cutting your hp in half and you get no coins from the arena it just feels like the only reason you do the arena is for the doctor 3. I rated 4 stars because it is smooth game play no crashes a few bugs here and there but other wise I really great game.

Great game, but a lot of room for improvement.. There are quite a few inherent issues with the rng of the game and poor design decision, for example: 1) Getting 3 reloads in one draw. This immediately screws you for a turn or two. Introducing a relic that could control for this would definitely help out that detrimental rng, or making it just an inherent mechanic that you couldn’t draw more than two a turn would make the game more enjoyable. 2) the explorer (left, middle, right) is atrociously designed. You can literally die with full hp at 80 or more... it should NOT bring you back to the very beginning, you should be brought the the last NON-dead end. This would save up to 30-50 hp from exploring in most situations. After dying during great runs strictly due to this poor design I will always pass on them from now on—which is the epitome of poor design because the risk is always greater than the reward 90% of the time. 3) I have not tested out all of the characters yet but I think additionally balancing may be warranted. There are other issues, but these are the most glaring at the moment and I have high hopes for the games future. It is a great mobile game. I’m only being harsh in some aspects because I am a fan and look forward to improvements. All-in-all there is a lot of potential, and for a dollar it is worth purchase, maybe even a micro transaction if reasonable.

Worth the dollar.. This is a great game. I cannot stop playing it. It makes time fly buy. I have one simple complaint: the speed in which you earn gold. Gold is the in game currency which can be either bought or earned. Buying is very simple and fast; However Earning it is much slower. Yes if you grind the game 24/7 eventually you will get enough for maybe one of the more expensive characters. I feel like if you maybe got more it would feel much more ease. Maybe just a tad faster not game breaking but enough where it feels like your going somewhere. Other then that this game is a absolute 10/10.

Best $0.99 I’ve Spent on the App Store. This game had me playing it late into the night after I first installed it. The creative gameplay can’t be found in many other places and definitely not at this price. The IAP are overall very reasonable and that gives me a good feeling to go with the great gameplay. The visual style of the game is engaging but I do have a few minor problems. 1.) I feel like the game needs a little more content to keep the games unique. I have played the game into ground and some of the levels feel like a repeat of each other. But this doesn’t make me not want to play it. Each game is unique enough but I feel like I can usually find similar relics in the early game. 2.) Please add more types of events on the map because I feel like they could be more creative then just giving you a card or taking your health. The life of a pirate had many more aspects that could be added in as an event. 3.) I don’t know if it would be possible but I definitely would love to have someway to play with/against other people. And at the very least a scoreboard or something. I recommended this game to a family member and the first question he asked before purchasing was, “Can we play together?” Other than that I love the game and would highly recommend buying it!!! I’m not a bot or anything and I hope you guys get to read this 👍

Too Much RNG to Rely on Strategy. great cards and imagination and art style in this randomized card game. to even begin a strategy you’ll need a way to heal and enough defensive cards to repel attackers. no sense knowing what your enemies are attacking with if you don’t have the ability to block. your main character will have the ability to block, but not enough to prevent all the damage, so you’re ending every fights with less health. unless you have healing of some sort. and there’s no way to guarantee you have healing, it’s all luck of the draw. you can pick the character who had lifesteal when she’s below half health, but she is unable to block, so she’ll take a lot more damage. she has a dodge chance, but again, you’re putting yourself in the hands of random numbers. there IS a character that has block and guaranteed heal. he costs $5. i almost bought him, but my patience was worn out by the time i found him. if you’re still reading this review to make a purchasing decision, do yourself a favor and just see the price tag of this game as $6. buy the game for $1 and buy the monkey character for $5 right away. if the game has been $6 and included the monkey character as the main character, i probably would have been giving this game five stars right now. it could be a fun game; they made a conscious choice to make fun something you have to gamble for first. 2 Stars

3.5 Stars - Balance Reasons. Pirates Outlaws is an addictive and fun game. Most of the content can be unlocked with in-game currency and what cost real money isn’t too bad on the pocket. That said it suffers from some balance issues. With everything unlocked and a great deck you can still be completely obliterated at any stage of the game. There are a few cards that just don’t make sense for any character while other cards are ‘must haves’ on all. Add to this the fact that the mechanics end up boiling down much more to luck than planning and skill... but with a facade that takes awhile to realize this fact, the game can be too addictive for what it is. It’s a fun game, but beware getting too comfortable.

Decent rogue like. Pretty good game all together but is very grindy and extremely unbalanced. Good luck getting through the second boss anytime soon without putting money into the game. If it had a slightly better gold reward system or just less punishing combat maybe it would be more playable. Your boat sinks after moving so many times without spending your gold to repair it which means you can’t use it to heal or progress ever and the biggest issue is you can’t skip on a card when you win an encounter so your deck ends up with tons of junk you don’t want and you have to use your already dwindling gold supply to remove trash cards. Doubt the devs will be fixing this game anytime soon tho. Worth the .99 cents tho but could be improved

A less polished Slay the Spire but with more content. It’s impossible not to see the heavy influence from slay the spire, but the amount of content is nice. The volume of content, however, doesn’t present itself in the form of variety of enemies, but rather the amount of characters and cards that can be unlocked. Some elements are a bit frustrating, like luck based cards which make it hard to plan a turn, or how the opponent can sometime apply a random amount of poison on their turn, making you lose the game if you didn’t prepare for it. Certain mechanics are not explained and are not obvious during fights, like a shield guy who loses attack power if his shield is broken, or a boss, who applies bleed on you every time you touch him. That last one seems like a bug, because bleed is also applied when you use ranged attacks. Also, please say how much gold you will make if you “stop the adventure” vs. taking a risk and continuing to the next act

Update: better than ever. I first got this game 2+ years ago and really liked it. It was fun, had nice graphics, plenty to unlock. It just seemed like such a grind to get enough $ to unlock anything I put it aside. Seeing that a new “major” update had just been released I just reinstalled it and was amazed to see how much it had since grown. Tons of characters, cards, relics, customizations and areas to unlock, completely new gameplay like the arena, the amazingly fun challenges of the quest system…really, if you like rogue like card games at all, you need to give this one a spin. Fantastic game.

Grindy but fun. I’ve sunk a couple of weeks into this game now and it’s a lot of fun now that I have unlocked more characters. Some heroes are still really hard to play successfully (the starting ranged hero is unfortunately one of them) but there are some entertaining play styles in there. It’d be nice if there was a bit of customisation available for decks when you start unlocking more cards since it’s very random as to whether a play through is viable depending on what card rewards you get from battles. Some of heroes feel a bit underpowered compared to others as well. On the whole, worth it.

Very good just too much grinding. This was their only game they ever made, as a first game it is amazing. But there is to much Grinding to get to the next character or map.

Fun and easy pickup game. The art style is pleasant, the gameplay is fun and you can very much try to play it in different styles, game can be hard and sometimes you aren’t always gonna win or succeed in a run. There’s no need to buy in app purchases for playing the game, it’s just for saving time. Game run pretty smoothly and easy game to just pick up, play a few battles or events, close and play again. There are things to improve on but nothing major I’ve come across so far

Forever grinding. I thought since this was a paid game the In game currency could be easily acquired. Oh boy was I wrong. To unlock everything you would need to spend an absolutely ridiculous time grinding over and over again. Even when you buy the 2x repute and experience boost it still would take far to long to unlock anything. How this game can charge money to download then to almost force you into spending money to progress is beyond me. It’s a shame as it starts off so well had so much potential but just like most other games on App Store these days it’s all about them making money form micro transactions. Absolute joke.

Great game but needs some balancing. This game is great and I have enjoyed playing it so much! I love the fact that there are no ads involved and that the gameplay is easy enough to understand. I do however think there need to be a couple balancing changes. For example on the second part of pirates bay, majority of the bosses are decently easy to fight but the boss named “Ed Hog” (the one that hurts you when you attack it) is almost impossible to beat unless you have tons of healing and heavy attacks. Other than this I believe it is a great game and can’t wait to see where it will go in future.

Great game, high replay-ability. This game might seem a little difficult at first, until you understand how each card can assist each other to strategize a damaging chain attack - very satisfying when it happens. Cards are fairly balanced, nothing too powerful to be abused of. Apart from card plays there’s also a tiny bit of rpg/exploring element to change up the dynamics. “Should I explore this jungle?” Who’s to say what’s behind, treasure, relic, or enemies?

TOO DIFFICULT. This game is too difficult and is impossible to play.I only barely defeated the final boss of the first map and cannot push further

Awesome game, good content levels and updates. This game is super fun to play, the core gameplay mechanics are great, and the rng with what cards you get cause you to play a different play style each playthrough. As you learn the game more, unlock more upgrades and cards the game gets easier and increases in depth. The developer support is awesome too, with regular content updates which cause the game to keep on growing. I would recommend this game to anyone, it’s an absolute blast!

Amazing!. I’m having a lot of fun so far! The Glossary is extremely helpful! Well done!

This game is not working. I been playing this for 1-2 hours and I just realised tht I m not getting the bonuses when I play cards. It’s fun but should really fix this bug.

Grind. I agree that this game shouldn’t have been a paid premium game only to force us into a grind to unlock anything thereafter. You can buy the coin and repute doubler but the grind is still required. Ok, so now it’s only half a ridiculous grind amount. ios should have the option of full paid unlock like all the other platforms. This grind even with the doubler really ruined the game for me, and leads me to think that actually maybe the devs were angling for mobile users to firstly “buy the game” and then buy the doubler with zero cares of what happens there after, because they’ve made their target money for iOS users. That was the plan I think. Well done 👏👏 got me. Don’t play this if you hate grind.

How dare you put freemium bs in a PAID GAME. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS DEVELOPER!! The reason I pay for games is to avoid the freemium predatory mechanics which are a scourge in mobile apps. Imagine my surprise then when I found out this game is riddled with them. 90% of the content is paywalled behind ridiculously high currency which is earned dreadfully slowly through playing the game but can be bought for exorbitant amounts. To the developers, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Fix this!

Fun game. Very cool

five stars. 。。。

Great turn based strategy card game. This game really nails it. Great game plan. Multiple different scenarios and options to develop your style.

Killed by iap’s. There is a good “slay the spire” type game here, unfortunately ruined by the iap’s. Ingame Gold (not to be confused with ingame coins) and ingame repute (not to be confused with ingame exp) are needed to progress. Both gold and repute can be gained a trickle at a time by playing the game but to get the needed amounts you will be forever grinding if you don’t spend real money. The game shows a lot of promise and your first 15 minute run will be enjoyable. But after that first run you will quickly see the need to spend money. The game should have been released as free to play.

Excellent game. This game is bad...for your health because you cannot stop playing it!

Bug. The game won’t let me launch it it crashes I have tried updating, I’ve tried uninstalling, I’ve tried no internet I’ve tried with internet

Yes. I have never done this before so it shows how good this game is, it is easy to pickup and is really fun, one downside is the grind but that is it. Love this game and the style

Please add option to skip cards, rather than forcing us to pick one out of 3. Very tough and grindy with the deck getting filled up with unwanted cards, please give option to skip choosing a card, thanks

Lost data. I lost 10 hours + of data because of the update... I am not satisfied with my purchase and don’t recommend unless you really like to grind and potentially lose your data every update...

Good game but.... Why is there in game purchases for a game that costs money!? AND the purchase cost more than the game itself!?

I’m a happy pirate. I was pleasantly pleased by how detailed, entertaining, and addictive this game is! I am so impressed with the concept, design, and execution. I definitely recommend this game!

UNDERKNOWN MASTERPIECE. Do you love slay the spire, do you love pirates? Get this game. Its literally so good, with great music and is a roguelike I just cant get enough of

One of the best card games out there!. Hands down an amazing card game, well developed amazing sound track. I agree with one of the other reviews, silly mechanic that you can add rage or heals to enemies. I’ve ended entire campaigns by mistake accidentally giving an enemy rage. Still a solid game, hours of fun.

It’s a grind. Been playing for awhile now, I thought the grind would some how go away, and I wouldn’t be expected to pay a lot to make progress. But it appears I have hit a wall, and would have to pay to continue gameplay. Which I won’t.

Great Roguelike. One of my favs. Big FTL fan so this hits that target pretty well. I get you have to make money, but would like to collect gold a little quicker. Actually thinking of making a purchase, which I very rarely do with mobile games. You e made a great game and deserve support.

My favourite game right now. This game is amazing

So addictive game. Its a great game, tough still has some minor bugs but I'm into it since I bought it

Good game. Well designed game, kind of ez though

Great Card Game. Lots of challenges and variety - may be frustrating at times but fun to play - a lot of choices have to be made which of course influences the game - very well done!

Horrible cash grab. It’s a cheap Slay The Spire knockoff filled with bugs and micro transactions. It’s only a thinly veiled freemium game only now they expect you to pay for the pleasure of grinding for hours in order to unlock anything. Stay far, far away. STS fans - check out Silent Abyss. Best STS-like I’ve found on the store.

Great game!!. I love the card concept of this game, not many game developers nail that. You guys did it perfectly, and a fun way to play too. I’m not sure if it’s just my phone but the game freezes here and there, but overall great game!!

Bug in new update but Great Game!!. Hi! New update looks fun, but in the first fight with enchantress I transmuted two cards and upon doing so one of them is left up in the middle where the card selection slots for transmuting are. Next time I go to transmute the card doesn’t go away and stops me from being able to use any cards with selection aspects. Would love to try this update, please fix the bug! The game is great, single handedly trumped the rest of my library for the last few weeks.

Fun but has bugs. In one part there are 3 bad guys all with attack 5. One of them runs away at the end but the mission won’t end. I can just keep playing forever. Just clicking end over and over.

Too grindy. Nice art, but far too grindy for a paid app. You need to play way too many games to get enough gold to try other heroes. Should be giving out three times as much gold for a win. Not recommended.

Great game. Great game but would like to see a mode where you can do a run with randomized options at the start to choose from to spice up the run, call it daily adventure or something

Cheap, pay to win. Feels like a free pay to win game. No idea why it's being sold, should be free. Very disappointed.

Love this!. Very good game! First game that I’ve played that I’m actually having fun grinding

Sync problems. I can’t login to Cloud

Request a refund. Hi I like to request a refund if possible it’s not that I didn’t enjoy the game but i just never play it anymore.

I would like a refund. I purchased this game when it still had cost money but now that it is free to play i didn’t get any rewards or a refund of the money i had spent to purchase the game. I feel as if i had been scammed for being an early adapter of this game.

Pay to survive. You need to fork over money if you want to get anywhere past the first map or level 20 i. Arena. The RNG against you is ridiculous. (Enemy boss has 50% chance to dodge, he you will miss every time) done with this game

Review. I had my doubts but this game is amazing it has Unique features and cards

Meh. Kind of scummy to pay for a game and have free to play mechanics. Gameplay is alright

Been playing for 2 years still fun. I’ve been playing this game on off for 2 years and it is still fun. I’ve read through the reviews and a lot of people complained about difficulty and grinding, and I would have to agree. The beginning was slow and could be difficult at times, but most of it comes down to learning the game. One thing that made things easier is when you die, right before the end stats show up you can close the app and re-open it again to retry the fight. This mechanic doesn’t mean you will be able to win the next time or the time after that, if you do not have the right cards and artifacts some fights are too hard. This mechanic only allows a second chance for people who think they got cucked by rng and think that they can win. Imo this mechanic is necessary and made the game a lot more fun. Outside of that mechanic there is still plenty to learn. All the heroes have different play styles and optimal decks and artifacts that can be learnt just by playing. Once you get the hang of it the game becomes easier and more fun. I should clarify I did not no-life this game, I played it mainly on the bus. After about a year of playing I was able to 100% all the stages and unlock all the cards and artifacts. It wasn’t until after a year I bought the 2X booster for the game. All in-game purchases are not needed (I just bought the booster to support the developers for the game) to progress smoothly in the game. Overall, I think the game is very fun and is definitely worth the cost. I highly recommend it and I hope the developers continue to add content for the game.

Too repetitive. Deck can not be managed. Game too repetitive.

Fantastic addicting deck builder!. Really enjoying this game, the theme and graphics are great and I don’t feel like I’m being sold something all the time in order to succeed.

Great game but.... I don’t understand why you’ve made it an option for you to be able to use your healing cards on the enemy. So many times I’ve been trying to work quickly and accidentally healed the enemy back to full HP. There is no point in the game where I’d want to heal the enemy so why in gods name have you made that a feature?

Game is so good, I had to write a review. Used to be a huge gamer but not so much anymore and this game has me coming back for more. The battle mechanics are very well balanced while the different combinations of cards and relics gives this game a ton of replay value. I personally find the art and soundtrack to be top tier while the dev, Fable, keeps updates coming to keep things interesting. Definitely worth a try and I hope they keep making more expansions.

Healing the enemy. To reply to shushbug the reason I would want to heal my enemy is bc when ur facing the undead they can’t heal in normal ways, say if I used a harvest card or emerald they would take the damage they would’ve healed. That is why you can heal ur enemy. That aside I think this is a great game I play this game a lot in my past time or just wanting to relax try the arena mode if ur looking for a somewhat endless mode. But this is by far my favourite card game.

Gift that keeps on giving.. Regular updates and content additions for years now. The latest Tavern brawl is an excellent addition for a quick 15 minute brawl and deck building. Each hero has a distinct playing style and more heroes are added over time. The latest is inventor who I have yet to try. The most OP hero is the Chicken IMHO. Thank you, developers, for taking care of this program over the years. Awesome game.

Good game but grindy. This is a good game but it’s a little too grindy, considering it’s a paid app. You should be able to upgrade and level up a little quicker or be able to get gold faster. I would probably play this game more and buy in game DLC if I didn’t get bored after half an hour. Really good game if you have only a few minutes everyday. Also if there is a way to turn off healing the enemy, that would be super helpful.

Too impossibly hard. The game is a lot of fun and very addictive. I am a decent gamer who is also willing to spend on game I like. However, this game is way too impossibly hard to an extent that it is ruining the gaming experience. The enemy are usually way too strong for the cards, and removing cards or purchasing upgrades are simply too expensive on a cumulative scale. Finally, even if you are willing to spend real cash on boosting your characters there are not enough upgrades that can boost the characters and the ones that exist do not do nearly enough. I passed Skull Island only once and lost 8 times consecutively with different characters. This has become a real frustration. I think difficulty adjustment is seriously needed or you will be driving away even players who are willing to spend.

Great game!. You will love this if you like card game

Way too much of a grind. I’m writing another review somebody complained about how it was hard to get New charactersIn the reply and said the max rewards you can get for a successful run was 520 that’s 15 successful runs just about for one character that’s way too much The developer replied it was for a sense of accomplishment and to get people coming back for daily rewards and stuff I thought there was daily quests which there is not I don’t think there’s any sense of accomplishment in pain $11.99 for 2500 Gold

Similar to slay the spire in experience, but at a great price!!. Slay the spire in some ways, but there’s significant differences in the gameplay and of course theme. This has a ton of replay value, lots of fun to unpack. Overall this is my favourite game right now 10/10 would recommend to anybody.

The best deck building game on IOS, period. This is a brillant deck building game. Event though the theme of pirates does not appeal to everyone. Don’t be fooled. Here you have a gem, a masterpiece of what should be a DBG. People will always compare to Slay the spire and then Dream Quest. And for good reasons. But this game definitely have it’s own soul. For the 10-15$ price (because you want the coin doubler and the Amiral) it’s a steal for the amount of time you can put in here.

Stay away from the grind. Don’t waste your time paying for a Free to Play styled game. It has good gameplay, but it gets old real quick.

Some problems with the game.. I am unable to buy anything in the store so please fix it. I have the cloud on and it is still not working.

Revive bugged. Cool thx for fixing the map scrolling bug👍 There’s a bug happening with revive when fortune teller revives it triggers her own revive plus leaf clover relic same thing with doctor revive :( Lucky clover should apply first so that you don’t waste 10max hp or a tarot charge but at the very least they shouldn’t both go off at the same time so it gets used for no reason Thanks

👌👌. Good game won’t connect to the cloud though so I guess no paying extra Monday 😂😂

No way to advance. Too much grinding whats the point?

I would give it 6 stars if I could ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. This game is really well done, frustrating at times, but really fun and with a high replaying value. The update with new heros, new packages and new game modes keep coming and I never had ro purchase anything (I actually buy stuff now and then, not because I need it but just because the game is so good and I want to encourage these guys to continue the updates). The arena mode is really great!

Boring. It’s literally just the same thing over and over, you have to play the first map for ages and you can’t progress at all and there is no upgrades to help with the overall stats of your character. Don’t waste the money

Great game - great price. Executed really well. Really fun with good replayability

In fact I'd rate it 6 Stars on 5. A lot of work is behind this game and it shows. Easy to get addicted :)

New update wrong. I could not open this game after the new update. Do something. I even deleted it and reinstalled. Still not able to open it.

Don’t buy anything in the game. I just bought two time the 11.99 offer, didn’t receive anything and my account is 28$ less

Excellent. Very fun and very addicting!

Awesome Game. Ignore the negative reviews. This game has plenty of depth to those who don’t need to win there very first try. Different strategies, different quests, several areas and the devs are still adding content. You can pay the minimum and still enjoy this game but show the devs some love. They really deserve it for the support they still give this game. I have had this game for awhile now and I still come back to it.

Why is this 5 stars?. I should be missing something because I don’t get the whole concept of the game. I do realize it’s a rougelike game but the game is too hard from the very start and I don’t see the point of grinding. I have to die on the first stage over 10 times just to increase my hp by 5, and that’s about it to make my future runs easier. It would have been better if relics were harder to get but I can keep them in the next run. Other than increasing my hp by a hair, you can buy a pack, which will increase you loot pool..... But your starting character will be almost no different from when you first downloaded the game (which is super weak). Depriving the players of reward for grinding is the easiest way to make them feel repetitive and loose interest. I wouldn’t have left a negative review if this was free. You pay for the game and you still have to pour real money to just try different stuff.

Not bad at all, but booo DLC. The game itself is perfectly fine. It’s a fun time. I have an issue with games that you pay for then have to purchase DLC for later to access all of it. Either charge more up front and give full access (using the reputation to buy power ups) or have it be “free to play” and then charge for DLC to access more.

Great game if you can handle a challenge. Reminds me of darkest dungeon for pc. Impressive design for a mobile game. Has some creative mechanics that offer a lot of depth but the game doesn’t feel overly complicated. Would love to see a reminder to fill AP when you’re low at a tavern. I’ve lost too many games to count because I’m too dumb to notice I’m about to sink lol. Keep it up fabled.

Cool. Fun and addictive high quality card game with nice graphics. Lots of strategy involved in building a load out and plenty of luck as well. Plan on buying the 2.99 booster iap if you want to make progress. It’s worth it though! I’ve had a lot of fun in this game and there’s a few nearly impossible achievements that should feel unfair but really they just give me a reason to keep coming back it!

Deserves to be an Editors Choice. Not many games released these days are Ad Free. So thank you for that Fable Games. But even better it’s a great card game that plays similar to, “Slay the Spire”. With that said you don’t need to buy any IAP to enjoy this game but for me I got the double gold & rep to balance the game a bit. To all other devs/publishers that fill their games with ad’s take note. I made a purchase without it being pushed and shoved in my face.

Tremendous value card based rogue like. Bought just to keep busy a few months ago. Every few weeks the developers release characters and maps that keep it interesting and effectively reinvent the game. I am actually impressed by how clever the devs are. I bought the game and the resource bonus stuff, nothing else, still fun. Super cheap if I consider how many times I’ve replayed, lots of value.

Amazing game!. I don’t write much about reviews and I don’t play much phone games, but this one takes the whole cake! I love everything about this game! The challenge and the strategy and the different characters! I’m such a skin person! So being able to work for them and get them yourself is amazing and not a pay game(unless you wanted to), but over all this game rocks and I hope to maybe see Pirates Outlaw 2?!?!

Very addictive gameplay!. It took me a while to get around to playing this game after I bought it, but now that I’ve picked it up, I’m having a hard time putting it back down - this game DEFINITELY has that “just ONE more try!” feel to it. Highly recommended!

Well Done!. This has now become my favorite phone game. It’s incredibly easy to pick up and understand, yet also contains intricate deck building and strategic nuance to keep you coming back. Don’t get me wrong, it can be a difficult and frustrating game no doubt, but that’s what makes it so much fun. Understanding what went wrong, and now having a perfect strategy to beat that last pesky boss pulls me back every time. If strategy and deck building interest you, I would definitely suggest Pirates Outlaws.

I am stuck.

As good as Slay the Spire. This is a great rogue-like style game for those who may like games like slay the spire or otherwise. It seems to have an easy learning curve but is brutal nonetheless when it comes to grinding things out foe more coins. On the plus side though, I think there’s only one character who have to buy in order unlock them, otherwise anything that can be bought in the IAP store can be found in the game.

Literally the best card game you can get on mobile. This game has kept me entertained for so long (especially on long car rides) it is really the best card game I have ever played other than yugioh but I don’t like that on mobile so this was my next card game to try out. And like I said it is truly amazing I love it and you probably will too so give it a try.

Pleasant Piratical Surprise. I went in because I love pirates and the art looked appealing (.99$ doesn’t hurt either). I don’t regret my purchase at all. This is a challenging game but I’m starting to pick it apart. I will need much more time with it to know for sure but I’m getting vibes of this being my new favorite time-waster. Provided it receives support, I can easily see myself giving the dev more money, as the product they have made has me “hooked”.

Heavy Grind. Would have rather paid a base price of 2.99 to 4.99$ and have characters and game modes able to be unlocked without a horrific grind. You will be stuck replaying the same rounds with the same pirates with the same hero in pirates bay, expect to pay another 5-8 dollars at least to get out of that cycle. I am almost entirely bored with the game and I haven’t beaten the second boss. The gameplay is fluid and could have been addicting if the game didn’t try it’s best to keep me at square one.

Awesome game. It’s a really strategic based games that includes pirates and cards. At first I thought it was really hard(and it still quite is) but you keep playing and playing trying to uncover more cards and unlocking more character( which each have their own style of play). Game is very addicting. Just wish more options of play open up.

Great game, buff paid hero. This is a really great game but my only complaint is that the admiral class is just bad. It’s a single player game so you can make it as pay to wins as you want but devs just held back. Its not interesting or good. I bought it to support the devs cause like I said, it’s a really good game but it just wasn’t worth it. Which is not what you want people to think when you are talking about your monetization.

Addicted. I am not big with iOS games, but about a month ago I have found this game and I can’t put it down..I play maybe once a day even if it’s just for 10 minutes. I hope they keep making more content because I’m catching up!..I also love that you aren’t forced to pay to get upgrades, I did pay once but after that? All my unclocks have been from playing the game on its own

Weird heroes. After playing over 200 hours, only explorer and sword master are worth playing. I have no idea why these deva would have locked heroes and their mechanics so unplayable and cannot progress. Too gimmicky. Card games are always about control, with a bit of luck in card draws. All the other heroes, including $5.00 admiral, is weak! But overall, the game is fantastic. Really addictive, but if you wanna grind for gold, play explorer and grind. The rest of the heroes are no good and too difficult to beat the final bosses.

Really great game, but experiencing bugs. This game is really hard to put down and very fantastic, however I have been experiencing some bugs, like not being able to get to the next stage and not receiving any achievements. Please look into this, because I really love this game and want to get the full experience. An example of the bugs I am experiencing are, not being able to get the explorer achievement. Please help me know if this is a big on my end or the game devs end.

Great game. Add multiplayer. It’s a really awesome game with tons of content. I’d like to see multi player available tho... and by this I mean going through a more difficult level with friends. This would allow for some team coordination and cool combos against very difficult challenges.

Rough RNG. This game is good for a while before you are grinding for gold to purchase new characters and new maps and with how lucky you are or when you have the knowledge of all the different kinds of enemies and bosses, I’ve had this game since it hit the front page of the AppStore and I’ve still yet to beat the first map you get I get to the last part of the map or the boss and then lose. Overall the game is good I do think it needs to help you with, tell you how to handle specific enemies and bosses or have a more icons to tell you what the passive is on certain enemies (such as thorns or bleed when you hit them)

Fun and simple, too much pay to win. The game gets insanely repetitive and is a total slog after you get the basics and unlock a few characters. Too much pay to win in order to progress within your lifetime. Unlocking the second zone alone seems impossible after playing daily for the past two weeks. The core of the game is fun and the mechanics are simple. If this felt more like a game and less like a slot machine it would be a lot of fun.

Pirate Perfection. I have played many games and so far this is one of my favorites. I do have some ideas though. I think that the game needs more characters and an easier way to unlock them. I would also like a few more worlds/seas added into the game. But overall this game is a keeper

A Diamond in the Rough. Having given the game more time, I’d say it doesn’t have quite so many issues as I initially thought. They definitely need to add important information to the game, such as which enemies have penetration and more transparency with regards to boss mechanics. It’s also far to much grind for the hero and map unlocks. If you plan to buy this game, know that there’s a $2.99 doubler that’s essentially required and even then it can feel tiresome. It needs tuning (Curse Captain is too dependent on RNG for getting his third curse, for instance), but it’s a solid game once you get a few unlocks.

Great Game!. A great rogue-like deck builder with a fair amount of creativity with the different playable characters. Only criticism is that you can't take the cards you unlocked in one land to the other lands (levels), even when you've unlocked everything in that land. It would be nice to have that sense of growth. Still heartily recommend this game! Great job to the developers.

A True Gem Ruined by IAP. The game is actually wonderful, definitely worth a dollar. However, it’s replayability is marred by an in game economy designed to encourage In-App Purchases. To get to enjoy the game fully, expect to slog through of dozens of hours of grind or cough up another $15 on top of dollar entry fee. It’s too bad they balanced their game in such an exploitative way. It could have ended up a game I wanted to spend more money on. I’m more inclined to “support” devs that don’t twist my arm into giving them more money. If a future patch adjusts in-game currency rates, I will change my review accordingly.

Slay the Ocean. If you enjoy Slay the Spire, you’ll love this as a mobile option! Having a blast but noticing a few balancing issues: 1) as a sword master, 3 ammo cards should not show up in draft. What’s the point? It’s just a dead card the entire run. Maybe allow for the ability to go up to 3 still but they don’t have the advantage of Gunner reloading each turn? 2) quests seem bugged? I completed the first one and the game isn’t recognizing it so I can’t accept another 3) progression seems terribly slow. Going to take a LONG time to get some of the later classes and modes

This game is a BAIT. This game had the potential to be as good as Slay The Spire, which this game has copied most elements of. I personally don't think that any paid game should have so much inaccessible content. Unless you're ready to spend 5+ hours playing a fairly repetitive game trying to unlock a single character, you will have to pay more money to play the game to its full extent. For a collectible rogue-like game, this game has very little "synergy", which is a staple of the genre. The game is built around 4+ characters that were part of the game when it was released, but all other characters add very little to the game. Though this game looks really fun, it doesn't live up to other cheaper games in the genre. Ironically, I'd argue that Slay The Spire is cheaper simply because its content is not hidden behind a pay wall, even though up front it is 10$.

I love this game. I have a friend who plays a lot of rouge like games and because of this I tried games like Gungeon, Risk of Rain 2 as well as binding of Isaac. Coming to know rouge like games I loved the genre. To be honest I downloaded Pirate Outlaws because I liked the art style and I like pirates, not knowing it was a rouge like card game. Now I play the game everyday and makes me even more excited for future updates. Keep up the amazing work.

Great game, bit grindy. This is a great game in the same vein as Slay the Spire. If you loved that you’ll enjoy this. Only a 4 star due to having to take a card after battle and I would have rather paid more up front than be faced with a long grind to unlock more maps and characters. If you want to skip to the full game be aware the listed price just gets you in the door where you can pay more for full immediate access. (I like the card unlocks though) Overall a great game.

Needs some slight tweaks, but still worth it.. Ever played a game called Slay The Spire? This game is basically that, but on your phone, with pirates. One thing that drives me up the wall is: lack of easily obtainable/starting female characters. I like playing them, sue me. The male to female character ratio is bleh, and needing renown ON TOP of gold for characters is a chore. Last thing: why is EVERY attack from npcs ranged? It takes a lot of tactical depth out that could be there with being able to kick/pull enemies in front or behind each other. Just some suggestions! Keep up the good work.

One of the best deck building rogue likes. If you like Slay the Spire, definitely give this game a shot. The devs have continually updated the game to make it one of the deepest and most varied examples of its genre. There are so many classes and different ways to build each of them out, combined with many different worlds that feature different enemies, events and quests, you’ll be unlocking new cards, characters and relics for a long time. Fantastic bang for your buck here!

Good game, needs more work though. I am a fan of cards game and after much thought bought this. It is fun game. My only issue is that after some time it becomes a grind to unlock new worlds and heroes. I have unlocked the 3rd hero (first 2 are free). I have finished the 1st world with all the 3 heroes. Now I do not have any incentive to go back to the game. I am still short a lot of gold to be able to unlock the 2nd world, but I can not make myself go back to the game. I am bored of the current content, to get new world/hero I would have to go through the same content. Not sure I would be playing unless there is some major update.

Let me skip taking cards!. Pretty sweet mobile take on slay the spire. Not pay to win like some people are saying. My main complaint is that you have to take a card after every battle. This means you can’t really make a themed and efficient deck. Also a lot of the relics are kind of bland unlike StS where certain relics dramatically change how your deck works. The events could use more creativity and variety as well. Considering it’s only $1 it’s super worth it though if you like rogue likes or deck builders.

Fun and Cool Mechanics. This game is really fun if your into card games and strategy. To me, it’s mechanics weren’t brand new concepts, but they were reinvented ones. The creators should be proud of themselves. The way this game makes your decisions have weight is cool. Whether it’s picking your next card, or choosing where to sail, it’s always a little nerve wracking to make decisions. But this is one of the best parts of the game so don’t stress about it. Another awesome part of this game is the variety. You can set up decks to play differently and choose a pirate captain that suits your style. Almost every round of play is brand new. I love it. There’s so many other good things to talk about but you should go see for yourself.

Great game. I love this game because it includes a card game, with a arena, and gives you choices to make as you go. I am very addicted to this game and can’t stop playing it. I love all the characters you can choose and the variety of cards you can choose from. It takes a while to gain coins though but it’s fine, it makes it more special when you get the thing you are saving for. I hope you continue to update and change this game to be even better. Keep up the good work.

Great game, but driven by microtransactions. Fantastic game, but after playing for about 2 hours I have only accumulated 1000 gold (which is less than $1 in the shop). As most items cost $2000+, this incentivizes purchasing gold packets way too much. It seems like the game is giving you a choice of playing for 40+ hours to unlock all of the characters or pay $10. This is crazy. No mobile game should require endless grinding to this extent. I may be able to play another character after 3 more hours, but who knows if I will enjoy the game by then.

Very Fun, not pay to win. This is a very enjoyable deck building game. The art is attractive, especially the color palette on Soul’s Rift. The different classes have pros and cons for different deck styles. The cards and relics are all pretty balanced, it doesn’t feel like you have to luck into a specific card or relic to win, just a good mix. The ammo and armor resources work well. Ammo management is different on each class and adds a great dynamic. Ammo can be frustrating on the Alchemist, as they have to use specific skills to make an ammo card, but there is a good trade there in card draw. While there are features that can be unlocked for a few dollars you can play the game, have fun, and win without spending anything above the initial purchase. Great game, lots of replay value. I totally recommend getting it.

(Captain) Hooked on this game. This game is certainly one of the most fun games of its variety that I’ve come across. It’s simple to pick up, but takes a while to learn, and that makes it so much more fun. There are so many characters with different strategies to use that the game doesn’t get old. I’ve been having so much fun playing this game that I felt compelled to actually leave a review

Addicting. I been playing this game for a month but I would say it’s worth it so you pay 99 cents but there’s a must buy pack which is the booster which I think is $5 so I would say it’s a $6 game. So this game is like a deck builder binding of Isaac in a way you have to beat 3 bosses to get full rewards. Collector is so far my fav due extra choices and relic slot. Yes there’s another guy you can get with money but I personally don’t think he’s to great so I would wait to see if you enjoy the game enough to get him.

Amazing game. I very rarely take time out of my day to rate a game but this deserves it. This game is a steal for a dollar and is honestly so much fun. I don’t normally enjoy this type of game but it’s tons of fun and I feel like it’s a game that I can see myself playing for more then just a day or two. The graphics in this game are simple yet stunning and it’s all around one of the best games on the App Store.

Wow. Heckkking amazing, really addicting and super fun, all it needs is possibly more characters but other than that it’s super fun, i really enjoy that it’s a card game and has so much strategy and it just makes the game super cool. Even the characters are super cool because of all the abilities and skins you can get. Would definitely recommend, and is worth more than you pay

Lots of fun, fair in-app purchases. I spent a lot of hours playing the randomized levels to unlock new cards and heroes. The art and music fit the pirate theme beautifully, and there's real strategy to the fights. It's a very challenging game that gives the player room to learn and grow over many days. The monetization is very fair; you can play a lot or pay a few dollars to unlock new heroes faster. You can't pay your way to victory.

Solid take on Slay the Spire marred by IAP. The game itself is actually pretty great if you’re looking for something like Slay the Spire but so much of it is locked behind IAP that you’ll probably want to drop $10 on it if you actually want to play it (otherwise you’ll be stuck on the same tiny bit of content forever). I don’t actually mind this but I wish I had known up front. I’d be happy to drop $10 on a game to buy it or get a game for free and then realize that I basically get to try it out for an hour and see if I like it before putting money in but this hybrid approach just made me feel like I’m supposed to grind for things in the game that...well...they clearly want me to pay for.

Too unbalanced, too punishing, too grindy. I play a LOT of rogue like card games, and this one is simply too punishing to be fun. There are FAR too many instances where your run simply comes to a point where it doesn’t matter what decisions you have made, the enemy/boss rips off a “sorry, bro - game over”. On top of that, all the other characters, and cards are locked behind a massive amount of grinding (or paywall, if you choose to go that route). Do yourself a favor, and stick to something more fair/enjoyable like Slay the Spire.

Has potential. Could be a great game if you didn’t restart every time. Having to play through five times just to unlock one card you may or may not even get during your next play though, makes this game very tedious and redundant and takes all the fun out of it. So, what is the point of fusing cards if it’s just a random card afterwards? Why wouldn’t you make the game so if you fuse two upgraded cards, you get something better? This is the kind of stuff that take away from a potentially great game. And why can’t I use the stuff I unlocked in one area, in another?

Unlocked characters Locked again. I recently came back to the game just to find out all my characters that I previously grind gold coins to unlocked were locked once again.... I really hope this is just a bug but if i find out this was some type of shady tactic for the recent updates than I won't be playing it until I have my musician character back and the skins that I unlocked for some characters. Until then I'm deleting the game. and will advice people to be aware because this game is a vary grinding game just so you can loose access to your characters really blows.

My favorite card game by far. I’ve only played a few but this one blows the rest away. The game play is challenging and fun. One suggestion, some cards can only be played on your hero (shield) and some only on your opponent (attack) which is pretty obvious but then some, mostly rest, can be used on both. It’s confusing. I’ve screwed up so many times because I get used to all the cards belonging to one or the other and then accidentally throw rest on an opponent!

Awesome but needs more upgrades in store.. This game is so addicting and only have good things to say about it, but one feature I would love to see is able to upgrade character stats such as health and the ability to bring some of your coins from the menu to your adventure. The option to purchase more starting cards would be awesome aswell as seeing a ranking system for more valuable cards you can add to your deck. Hopefully one of these features gets added, but awesome game and beautiful graphic design.
