Calory: Calorie Counter Macros App Description & Overview

What is calory: calorie counter macros app? SIMPLE, EASY & FAST CALORIE COUNTING

Calory is your ultimate calorie counter and a quick way to count, track & tally your calories during the day.

WHY COUNT CALORIES?

Everyone has a personalized number of calories they should eat every day based on factors including their weight, height, activity levels, and weight loss/maintenance/gain goals. It’s hard to track calorie intake, though, not least because it’s easy to forget everything you eat during a busy day. Recording your calories as you eat gives you a clearer picture of the calories you are consuming. It also enhances your awareness of food values and nutrient levels, all of which helps you make healthier choices when eating.

HOW CALORY WORKS

Based on your weight, height and activity level, Calory will calculate a suggested daily calorie goal for you. The daily goal will also factor in if you want to maintain, lose or gain weight.
After you know your daily energy requirements, your challenge is to eat the right number of calories. Calory, meanwhile, will remind you throughout the day to record your calorie intake. Even better, there is no registration or sign up required! All the information you enter into Calory is stored on your iCloud, protecting your privacy.

Very useful!. I really like this app. Overall I think it’s set up to be very user friendly. Just a couple things I wish would change: When we do a quick add, I wish “my foods” were in the quick add list rather than having to go to the “my foods” list to add to your days calorie count. I like to be able to see what I’ve added already and be able to add from that screen rather than going back and forth. Also after adding foods from your data base (instead of manually), once added, I’d like to be able to edit the name so it flows with my other foods. Other than those two things, this app has really helped me stay on track and is very well put together. I gave it a 4 just because of my personal preference for some of the lay out. I plan to continue using this app!! Thanks!

Good, not yet great.. This is a very nice app. I am a Clinical Nutrition Manager and I love the ease of this app, I do think the database could use a little more tweaking, maybe more connections to usda and other databases if possible, however the ease of entering the macros/micros of a food not found is great. This app has a ton of potential. It connects to the health app, yet I do see any sleep/steps/activity data in the Calory app(would be a nice touch to see fitness). Other than that it’s greAt. I really enjoy Cronometer which is another app that has a ton of food from different databases and if this app could just have a similar database nothing would beat it. To conclude this app is probably going to be amazing soon, it has a ton of potential and it’s not a burden on the wallet by any means. I bought the lifetime subscription because I am invested and believe this will be the perfect calorie tracker soon.

Amazing!!. I just downloaded this app and I absolutely love it. It’s so easy to use and you don’t have to pay, which is great. I’ve tried so many other apps but I like this one the best since it’s actually working for me. The circle filling up when you add calories is a cool idea, and it really helps you be more aware of what you’re eating. I like how you can see the history of your caloric intake and weight over the months, and the app has a simple but effective feel to it. I hope that in the next update the app will be able to give a predicted date for when you reach your goal weight, if you’re trying to lose/gain weight. It would be immensely helpful to stay motivated and committed knowing that there is a date to look forward to. Other than that, the app is great!

Great, with some minor issues and one feature request. I love this app. It’s the only food tracking app that allows me to prioritize sodium in addition to my macros and calories. It’s widgets are top notch as well, and I love the way the little red balls fill up the screen when you go over. A perfect visual metaphor. Minor frustration: when adding food to a given meal, if I select an item from my recent list, the item goes into the meal I last ate it with. For example, I click the plus sign on lunch to add a scoop of protein powder, and my recent food features the protein powder I had with dinner the night before. That scoop gets added to dinner despite me having clicked the add to lunch button. Feature Request: the thing that would make this app absolutely indispensable to me would be the ability to pre load and then check off items. For example, in the morning I tend to pre plan my day, constructing a meal plan that fits perfectly to my macros. I’d love a little check box or something that let me keep track of which pieces of my meal Plan I had consumed. It wouldn’t need to interact with the totals to be useful, those could be updated right away, it would just allow me to remember which snacks and such I had eaten. This is particularly useful with supplements where it can be hard to remember how many scoops of protein I’ve had in the day for example.

Lacking features I can find for free. Beautiful app and competitively priced for things like macro counting. HOWEVER, no way to adjust serving size other than adjusting the server amount. So say a serving is 5 and you ate 15, you have to say you consume a quantity of 2.5. It’s easier in a simple numbers but still needlessly complicated. Especially since most apps offer that for free. Logging water is more complicated than most apps. It’s part of what you’re paying for yet you just log it like you would log anything else. If you order anything from a restaurant, be prepared to look online at its menu and manually log everything, even for popular chain restaurant. You can find items through search but it often confusingly labeled and inaccurate amount of calories. It is a beautiful app but overall it sacrifices a lot of functionality for looks.

❌ Lifetime purchase switched to FoodNoms. Used this app for 2 + years; during that time my first year was positive but things progressively worsened… I started encountering bugs around the one year mark and couldn’t use shortcuts to input food anymore. This was frustrating and support wasn’t able to help diagnose the issue. Widgets also don’t update their display properly. And while I’d purchased a lifetime membership, I didn’t see many changes coming to Calory (besides the feature updates to match new iOS additions like widgets and shortcuts). I didn’t feel like the core experience was very improved, and, while I get that many users are hoping for specific features for their use cases, I generally saw my experience using Calory decline as changes were made that didn’t improve what I believe to be the core user experience. I get that a calorie tracking app shouldn’t be constantly changing the core feature of calorie tracking, but there’s a lot that could be done with Calory to match what FoodNoms is doing. I will happily pay a subscription to have a calorie tracking app that is efficient, effective, and ultimately provides me the ability to create a feedback loop to make decisions that affect my overall health through dietary choices. Calory is no longer that app.

Best tracking app in a long time. This is probably the best food tracking app I’ve tried in a long time! I paid for the lifetime premium features, and it is worth is. The plates make us easy to quickly add a food I eat daily, the widget and Apple Watch features work really well and allows me to keep track of things that much easier. The visual for total calories is also really helpful. Only thing I wish is that you could track/add more minerals and such for food; like magnesium, potassium, and caffeine. But those are small things that would just be nice but not a deal breaker for me. Overall, this has one of the best lists of vitamins and minerals I’ve seen in a diet tracking app.

Simple design, easy to use, but…. I love the simplicity of the app and how easy it is to navigate! The custom calorie addition is great! The lifetime purchase is everything, but… I have to address why this is not a full five stars. I really really would appreciate if there was an option to manually enter burned calories. When running on the treadmill I don’t wear any sort of trackers but it tells me how much I have burned and I would love to add that into my burned amount without having to have it synced through apple health and adding it through there. Once this feature is added I will be sure to change my rating to a five star!!!! <3

Great app, if a bit buggy. I’ve been using this app for more than a year and there’s a lot I like about it. The Apple Watch app, widgets, counting of burned calories, and it’s simpler design than all the competitors who plaster their services with ads about fitness and the latest fad diets. For a while my only gripes were the small delay between opening the app and the calories burned syncing, and that the watch app doesn’t function standalone meaning sometimes meals won’t sync to the iPhone. HOWEVER after the last update things have gotten worse. There’s a solid delay anytime you add a meal through the iPhone and the existing calorie burn sync delay is now even longer or just doesn’t sync period. As a paying subscriber please fix these issues I would prefer not to have to get a new calorie counting service,

Overall good with a few “huh?” issues. Switched to Calory from MyFitnessPal, and it’s been a huge improvement. The UI is mostly simple, and the customization is great, especially entering my recipes. That said, it took me awhile to figure out how to document eating a serving of a recipe instead of editing it. This feels especially odd because I started by tapping the icon to add a diary item. Next, it’s helpful that this app also tracks water intake. But ... how is it that adding water to juice is 0% water, and doesn’t count toward the daily water intake total? What about soup or broth? The original study that everyone misquotes regarding 8 cups of water per day clearly states that it’s water *from all sources*. But some periodical dumbed that down to 8 cups per day of just water regardless of other liquids, and that’s what’s been quoted, instead. I bring this up because not counting the water in other beverages and liquids sure sounds like the database assumes water only counts when it’s all by itself and all other sources are irrelevant.

Absolutely Amazing!. I was looking for something a little less crazy than MFP but still with the expansive library of foods and Calory is close! I love the simple yet more customizable aesthetics. Did you know you could move the little balls around? One of the things I would really like to see incorporated is the ability to put in all of the nutritional information when entering manually. I’m trying to track my electrolyte intake and for the barcodes that Calory can’t read or read accurately yet, I would love to put all of those in. Maybe I just didn’t see the way to do it, but I think it would be important to track micros as well. Thank you for all of your brilliant and hard work, I absolutely love what you’re doing!

Great App With Some Minor Flaws. Update 10/10: Some of my complaints from my original review were addressed (and resolved) in under a week, which I found incredible and worth a mention! ———————Original Review————————— I have really been enjoying using this app and have even purchased the premium membership. Since I don’t see a dedicated button in the app to submit feedback, I will leave my thoughts here. There is currently no way to add notes to recipes created in ‘My Foods’. The ‘Notes’ section is only available for recipes created via Manual Entry. There is also no way to edit a recipe that is located under the ‘My Foods’ section. This has caused some annoyance as I tend to change the brands of ingredients I use, which tends to change the nutritional info as well. Since I cannot edit these foods, my only option has been to delete and re-create the entry, which is unintuitive.

Good on privacy and simplicity, could use some work. I like how the app has no ads and uses iCloud for syncing rather than forcing me to create an account and sending me spam emails like other apps. The interface is rather easy to use once you get used to it. I also like that there is an Apple Watch app and complication. That said there are some things that could be improved. Firstly the Apple Watch complication seems to not consistently update when you add a food from your phone. This is rather frustrating since I would like to be able to look at my calorie count at a glance from my watch but I can’t really do this if the count is sometimes off. The UI is definitely a lot better when you activate the journal view in the settings. This allows you to see what you’ve eaten so far in the day from the main screen like in most apps. This mode should probably be made the default since some people may not find the journal view in settings and the current default mode wastes a lot of screen real estate on an imprecise calorie progress indicator that looks like a jar of jelly beans. Also, the developers should consider moving the UI to create new plates from the settings to its own screen since I don’t think it’s very intuitive to have it in settings. Custom plates are not really “settings” but a kind of user data.

LOVE this simple, aesthetic app.. I prefer this to any other calorie app I’ve tried, including my plate and my fitness pal. It’s SO EASY to add food quickly, and you can make it as simple or as complex as you want (only track calories, or track macros too, water, or even some electrolytes!!). You can look up the food, or just type in the calorie count. I also just absolutely love the design. I love physically seeing when I go over my calorie limit for the day, and exactly how much I did. It’s so cute and motivating. It was funny seeing like 100 red marbles for the day I really overdid it, vs the one red marble when I was just 5 cals over. It feels so much better than some of the other apps that just turn your WHOLE DAY red because you went 3 calories over. That can be so demotivating. Whereas this app doesn’t demand perfection, and you don’t hate yourself for going a smidge over. Thanks for making this app! It’s fantastic.

Excellent, affordable, and doesn’t try to do too much. Overall thrilled with this app. I like that they are keeping it simple and are not trying to be everything (exercise app, fitness coach, intermittent fasting tracker, weight log…). Some of the UI around logging, as well as building and editing recipes and foods, is poorly laid out (for example, try to figure out how to edit or remove a custom recipe or food after finding it in the main “cookbook” of recipes, I’ll wait… Give up? You have to go to the settings! for some inexplicable reason). But nonetheless, fantastic work.

Super nice BUT exercise?. I prefer this app to my fitness pall first off because of its design and conciseness. However I am not sure how the app integrates/considers burned calories with the calorie goal. I saw in the setting that this is possible but unlike other calorie counting apps I don’t see a manual way to input my exercises or step count for the day. I am unsure whether it’ll automatically sync with what’s recorded in my health data, however this is nothing I’ll stress over! Awesome app overall! Awesome! I would like to add though, I understand now how the calorie intake should be adjusted, but as someone who doesn’t have their Apple Watch right now (I do have one though) my steps don’t seem to count towards the burned calorie differential, as I reviewed what calory asks to read from health and it doesn’t include steps. I think It would be super cool as well to assure that burned calories are considered in someone’s manually set goal, rather than the one provided by calorys calculations. Awesome app nonetheless!

Love. It’s so much easier then other apps, it’s easy to navigate, you can set your own Kcal goal or use the suggested after you create your profile, you can prioritize certain macros. Most apps are so clusters and hard to understand or just has some much unnecessary stuff and much I don’t understand and can be very overwhelming, this app is BEYOND EASY. Only issue is when you use the barcode scanner it doesn’t always get the calories right sometimes they are very high or to low but other then that it’s perfect. Would also like to adjust when my counter resets, I don’t go to bed until 3am and I always like to have a little snack here and there asking as I’m still under calories and I always make sure I do.

Minimalistic UI; needs better food database. The good: ~ Simple calorie counter with a minimalistic UI. Not bloated with ads or its own social network, & it doesn't bombard you with hastags & acronyms like an ADHD teenager (cough, Noom). ~ Easy to create custom 'plates', which let you log foods you frequently eat with one tap. ~ Seamless integration w/ Apple Health app. ~ Good macronutrient tracker. Must have premium to use it though. ~ Can purchase a lifetime premium account, instead of having to subscribe indefinitely. The bad: ~ AWFUL food database. Difficult to search & many incorrect entries, with no option to flag them for review. The premium search seems much better, but I'm not sure it's worth $15/yr or $30/lifetime. (I very much like this app, but this is the reason I uninstalled). ~ I strongly prefer a target calorie range instead of a single value. I've only seen this on SparkPeople though. Some days I eat too much & others I eat way too little. Also, I find a range much more realistic than a single number. Is anything less than that target good? Is it Price is Right style - get as close to the number without going over? 🤷‍♀️ ~ No diet safeguards on this app. Which might be good people, but could be dangerous for others. Calory recommended I eat ~900 calories/day to lose weight fast. Most medical professionals warn against eating less than 1200 cal/day for women.

Pretty good but not perfect. The app is good for tracking calories and it’s nice that my data is private but it’s got some annoying quirks. The most annoying is the recent foods used doesn’t seem to sync across devices. The recent list doesn’t always even remember the last foods you logged. For example, I have to look up pumpernickel bread every day for my lunch entry rather than be able to find it under recent foods. Same with other entries like that. That said it IS better than MyFitnessPal solely for privacy of data. Would I have paid the lifetime subscription cost if I knew these things, probably. I give it 4 stars for a good try but has room for improvement, I hope the continue to do that.

Amazing app. This is by far my favorite calorie tracking app in it's formatting, and I've been using calorie counting apps on and off for ~6 years. I like that I can set it to sync with my Apple Watch or not and that I can disable the red dots. I feel bad when I see that I go over calories even just by 5 calories, so it's awesome that I don't have a red flag telling me I'm over. Quick add and plates are great. My one issue with the app is that it's actually hard to add my food items in grams from their database. I weigh everything and when I scan a food item, it only comes up in volumetric measurements, some foods do have gram measurements but not all. There's not an option for me to enter a food's serving size in adjustable grams. I often don't eat a full scoop of protein powder (29g) so I'll weigh out 10g and it's just a pain to try to log it without me calculating things.

Best calorie tracker I’ve ever tried!. I used this app for about a week before purchasing it, so here’s my take on it: - Their free version can be used forever, with no ads, and very little indication that you’re using a subscription based app, unlike many of the competitors. - They have a One Time Payment, lifetime plan available. - The app is easy to understand, and pretty easy to use. - Their catalog contains so many foods, basically anything you would want, even when using it for free. - Has an option to set your goal for gaining weight, if that’s what you need. - I’ve found that many of these apps only have weight loss options… - The app can read your burned calories estimate from apple health, and adjust your daily calorie goal off of that. - This is especially useful because you never know when your going to have a really active day, or a lazy day, throwing off the accuracy of a set goal. - Premium Only: Their barcode scanner is lightning fast. - It can do this faster than the scanners at walmart, when checking out. - Premium Only: It’s broad collection of food has basically everything you could think of, down to Vitamin C tablets. This is an amazing app, and it’s useful for both those who are willing to pay for it, and not. Thank you for your hard work!

Food registry severely holds back the app. This app is everything you could ever want in a food tracking app; it has a gorgeous design, everything is simple to add and its customizable. The UI presentation even makes it fun to add calories and stay within target. Unfortunately, the food registry is the one thing holding back the app, and arguably one of the most important things to get right. A subscription is charged for a more "advanced" registry, but unfortunately it just does not have a comparable database as many other popular food tracking apps, making it a pain to track. If you just need to add calories, this app works wonderful. For anything more substantial, it will not be able to pull its weight compared to other apps.

Great app, but a somewhat inaccurate net carb count.. This app is fantastic, and it syncs up perfectly with the WaterMinder app as well as the Health app. The only complaint I have is about the net carb count. Fiber isn’t the only thing that can be subtracted from total carbs in order to calculate net carbs. For example, sugar alcohol and erythritol are two ingredients that also count towards calculating net carbs. However, the app’s current design doesn’t count anything other than the fiber content when it calculates net carbs, mostly because there’s no place in the app for these nutrients/ingredients to be noted in the food items. When adding in our own foods, it’d be great if there were spots for items such as sugar alcohol (g) and erythritol, and other items as well, to make calculating net carbs more accurate for people on special diets who can only consume X# of net carbs daily. One other issue of note is that the “meal” function doesn’t work properly. Every time I try creating a “meal” in the settings, it will end up glitching when I go and add said meal to my calorie count later. It doubles some food items, removes other food items, and then when I try going back into the settings and, for example, removing the extra food items it added for no reason, it ends up removing ALL of the food items even though I save it as being one of each food item. Very annoying.

Simple and Effective. Finally an app that makes calorie tracking easy, fast and reliable. I have subscribed to them all: my fitness pal, lifesum, meal plate, yazio and I have to say that CALORY beats them all if all you want is an easy way to tack what you eat and a price that is affordable and worth the small investment in your health. Some features I hope to see: 1) basic water tracking. nothing fancy just some icons I can click to add 8oz of water and remind myself to drink it throughout the day. 2) a way from the home screen to swipe into previous days a bit easier. 3) an easier way to get back to home screen when only adding 1 item. the current UX could use be improved on that area. 4) copying meals or items to the next day and sharing meals and items with other CALORY users. Just buy it. You will love it.

Used to Be Perfect. I loved this app because it was simple and didn’t force you to go through extra steps like other calorie tracking apps tend to. With the latest update, you now have to choose which meal you want to log calories for, which is an extra step I didn’t need. This was annoying but not a huge deal. Well, as of today the app now freezes whenever I try to log anything at all, so there is no way to use it. They need to undo whatever updates they did and go back to the way it used to be. Edit: Changing my review to 5 stars because the company responded and both issues have been resolved. Thank you!

Best calorie tracker I’ve found. This is the only calorie tracker I’ve found that doesn’t shame you, doesn’t have ads, and is easy to use. I’m a big fan. I have some hesitations on the accuracy (I’m unsure where its nutrition numbers are coming from and it seems to undercount some items), but overall if has been a great app to help with my recomp goals. Only con is the “consider burned calories” toggle. It’s really unclear what’s happening when you turn that on, the developer says it reads from Apple Health but I’ve never had that match what Apple Health shows. I just leave it off.

It’s clean and it works. So many of these apps have so much feature creep and bloat inside of them with hefty reoccurring price tags attached with no other options. Calory is like a ray of light from an abyss of darkness. It’s UI is sleek and clean yet it has plenty of customizability. My only criticism would be to keep adding more food to search up to add to your list of meals eaten, and if possible an option for water intake to be a separate bar next to your calorie intake. I ask for this as I want the macros to be in their own separate category together and water to be more cleanly placed alongside the calories. Otherwise it’s an awesome app, I’ll definitely buying it permanently soon as that luxury seems to be disappearing more and more these days with so many subscription based apps.

Amazingly awesome UI! Amazing price point!. I’m so ready to completely switch from MyFitnessPal, but the one thing that’s holding me back is the ability to be able to see meal entries made for future dates. I see that Calory allows meals to be logged for future dates, but it’s not possible to see that entered data within the app, only in the Health App. I personally plan and like to log meals ahead of time, especially before a work day. I hope that the ability to see exercise calories will be added in the near future. 😎 Other than those things, this is a simple, efficient, and fantastic calorie tracking app!

LOVE this app, but it needs exercise!. Love how simple and beautiful this app is. The ability to just manually throw in calories I eat rather than setting every single meal made this a winner for me, as someone who is only tracking one or two macros. There’s still the option for full recipes and things too! The UI is gorgeous and no-nonsense, as well as very customizable, which makes tracking my food pleasant and exciting rather than a chore. The one thing its missing is a way to let it know when your burning calories through exercise. I think I saw from a year old review that they were planning on adding it, but apparently it’s not here yet! As someone whose been hopping around looking for the perfect fitness and nutrition tracking app, this is the last feature needed to set it at the top of any I’ve ever tried! Hoping it gets added soon!

Actually...Simple, Easy and Fast!. It’s... Simple, easy and fast. All I want is an easy way to track my calories myself. I know how many calories I’m consuming and just want to add the number manually myself, this app allows me to do that. I love the feature that also keeps tabs on your progress towards your goal weight, because obviously anyone tracking calories has a goal in mind. I can see how many calories I need a day to reach my goal weight, how many calories I have left to eat for the day and I can also record my weight and see how it changes over time. That’s all I want. Not a million useless features that most people don’t need or want or understand which makes navigating the app and trying to record what you want all the more difficult. This app has none of that, it is very user friendly and I am an absolute fan. FunnMedia gets it, thank you! I will likely upgrade soon to unlock more useful features as I become more consistent with hitting my goals.

Good app, can be great with additional features. So far I am enjoying this app. There are a few features that would make it a 5 star. First being able to choose the default meal entry. I want to have it always pop up the foods search, not the calorie amount. Second I would love to remain the meals. As a person who does IF, I don’t technically have breakfast so being able to rename the meals to Meal 1, Meal 2, etc would be amazing. Third, I would love to add time to each meal. Again as a person who does IF, I want to make sure I am sticking to my timeframe so being able to add a time or automatically adding the time I enter (with the ability to edit) would be amazing. Last, would be creating saved meals as entering the same meal every day is annoying.

Needs the ability to add exercise. The developer needs to allow us to remove calories from exercise. This is pretty crucial. I love the design of the app and the tracking experience is seamless, but relying on Apple health to track my exercise (as the developer has stated in other comments) is silly. My phone doesn’t accurately read my exercise if I put it down to do strength training or wall sits, so that needs to be manually added? And I don’t have an Apple Watch and don’t plan on getting one—I’m sure a lot of people feel the same. I paid for this app to support it because this is the one thing missing to make this perfect. I’ll be pretty disappointed if they don’t add the one thing everyone in these reviews is basically begging them to add.

So easy and cool!. I love this app! I used to use Lifesum and I was so set in my ways until I discovered this app. I found out immediately how wrong I was! This app is amazing! I love how when you add food your circle fills up! I like to think of it as my stomach! I also like the small detail that you can move the little circles around! Another cool feature that I haven’t seen in other calorie tracking apps is the ability to change the color of your app (dark mode included) and the app cover itself on your home screen! That is so so cool!! I also love the pre set foods with the pictures for tracking. I’m looking forward to when I can create a food! But so far everything is great!

Promising but immature. I was drawn to Calory by what seems to be a better privacy policy than most diet apps which seem to be all about advertising and selling your data. The data entry is painful but not much worse than others I have tried. But with a few changes it could be much better. There are no instructions so you have to hunt around to figure stuff out. it is not too hard but not intuitive and there are few shortcuts. This is demotivating. The biggest problem is the database is very focused on commercial processed foods. There is no support for real food short of hand entering each recipe and dividing by the serving size for each ingredient. That would take hours per day. Hopefully they will hire a programmer who cooks.

Simple and Effective!. I have been using this app for four months now, and I have lost nearly 20 pounds! The best thing about this app is the simplicity. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that other apps have, but that’s what I like about it. It has a clean, visually appealing interface, and it’s so easy to use! It gives you a personalized calorie goal that automatically adjusts with your weight. It’s amazing what you can accomplish with just a little calorie control! There’s no strict diet plan, but it did encourage me to eat a lot more fruits and vegetables since you can eat a ton of them without taking up too many of your daily calories.

UI needs work. It seems astonishingly easy to enter items for the wrong day, sometimes two days ahead. I’m getting irritated at having to erase entries and redo them. Plus common entries don’t get retained on the Recent list, whereas things I entered once several months ago are still there. Very annoying. Update: it’s getting more frustrating to use this app, due to having NO documentation on how to use some features such as Plates and My Foods. I’m going to start looking for another app. Update: lowered rating to two stars. This program is getting more and more frustrating because things that I use a lot don’t show up on the recent list and things I used once six months ago are still there. What I wish somebody would explain the logic behind this to me. Update: still one of the most frustrating apps on my phone.

Premium is worth it. I’ve been using the free version for ages just to easily track calories. I finally upgraded to premium and i am blown away. You know how every other app makes you scan the barcode of food and rely on their database of info and it’s always a little off or completely wrong? Well this app uses the camera to scan the Nutrition Facts label itself and parses the data in real-time. Genius. I can’t believe this isn’t front and center on advertising for premium, because I would have upgraded so long ago. Bought the lifetime subscription! Thanks for this!

Incorrect Data & No Support. This app has quite a bit of outdated nutrition data on foods but little way to easily correct it. The custom food feature is a mess and not intuitive. Additionally despite contacting support multiple times the method used to estimate calories burned is off and they refuse to make the change to full HealthKit integration Response to the developer: I reached out a number of times to get a fix for this issue. When it finally was changed, it was only half fixed. Despite providing detailed calculations on how to resolve it the team provides neither an answer or a solution. Currently I have another open ticket as I unfortunately paid for a 1 year subscription and I hope try and resolve it until my subscription ends and I can switch apps.

So far, so good in V. 1.2 and hoping for many updates and lifetime subscription.. Currently doing Clean Keto. With that said, I have used and paid for Carb Manager, Myfitnesspal, and various other weight management apps. Calory has a way to go but have to say was reading the negative and also positive reviews and can see that this developer seems to have the attention and passion to make this the best calorie management tool out there. I am happy to say I’m investing in this young company and app developer. Side note to IOS App Develper(s) Please take some time when considering which direction to go improving the app. With someone that is passionate about Strict Keto lifestyle please learn from other apps (including ones listed above) that focus on diets that include very low carb and Ketogenic Lifestyle. Again, please take the best parts of all the other successful apps and run with it as you have be so successful in doing. I am quite excited to have found Carory and have been very impressed with the many wonderful suggestions from other users and also follow up and quality of responses from the developer. Keep up the great work! Excited to be part of the Calory family!

Can’t contact support, plates don’t sync to iPad. Edit: tried to contact support, got a message “no email accounts found.” I don’t understand, I have gmail installed and check my email daily, why can’t it find it? I would contact support to ask but I can’t. I wanted to sync my iPad so I could enter the data there too but only the calories sync, the plates and other app configuration DOES NOT SYNC. Previous review: One day in and I think I’ve figured out everything I need. The Siri Shortcuts are great once I figured out I had to go to the shortcuts app and find the setting to add it to the watch. Now I can log even when I’ve left my phone across the house. Response to developer response: I had actually found that form and submitted my question there and never received a response. Spend more time responding to support and less time responding to reviews.

Great food tracking app. Love this app! I’ve been using it for a couple weeks and it has a great database, the nutrition label scan is amazing, the barcode scan works well. The visual dots is a nice way to see where you stand for the day and review the week. It seems to sync great with apple fitness to adjust intake for exercise as well. Only upgrade I’d like to see is the ability to break down which foods are the underlying data for the macro tracking (I.e. if you could click on your current sugar consumption and see which foods were the main contributors). Overall very useful and great app. I don’t normally pay for apps but this one was worth it.

Like the app, have a question. Hi, I really love the app. The simplicity of this app makes it amazing to use. It’s the ONLY app that I’ve consistently used for almost a year bc it’s so clean, easy, and accessible. I do have a couple questions/suggestions: 1/ in the recent update, why is the word “other” immediately added to all manual entries? This is annoying since we have to delete it anyways to type in what we actually ate. Just make it empty when manual entry is selected like before the update. 2/ I love the “copy from” function but can you make it so it shows all the items you ate the day before and not break it into “breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner”? This will make it faster to just find what you ate yesterday and then copy it from that day, rather than going into the bins. 3/ for recipe section, is it possible for us to add our own recipes? Rather than what is available online? In the “create recipe” it is still forcing user to add only items already registered in the app. 4/ can you connect WaterMinder into the calory app? I use both and would love some integration. Thank you! Love your apps

No Way to Log Exercise Calories. So far I like the design of the app a lot. I like that it’s easy to add calories from a meal, which makes this app preferable than many other calorie counting apps for me. However, I am absolutely baffled that there is no way to log exercise. This should be a very simple feature to implement. If I can add positive calories from food, it should be relatively simple to add negative calories from exercise. All the developers would need to do is just add one more category. Had I realized you couldn’t do that at all, I probably would have purchased a different app instead. It’s rather disappointing because I see reviews from a year ago complaining about the same thing, but clearly nothing has been done to change it. If you’re not interested in logging any calories from exercise, then the app would work great for you. If you do work out though, you’ll need to find another way to keep track of your exercise and mentally adjust the day’s allotted calories accordingly.

Best Calorie tracker. This app lets you track your progress with your calories and macros and you don’t have to use a subscription! I purchased the app and the pro features have been extremely helpful so I can eat what I need based on my goals at the gym, gaining weight, maintaining or losing weight. You can search for food or scan bar codes in the app and register it easily too which is great! I do wish there was an option to track my weight alongside my body fat % and muscle mass % when I go weigh in. It’d be useful to have my Calorie tracking and weight tracking all in one place.

Five stars! love this app!. Even if you don’t pay for the extra things this app has to offer, it is still great. I think this app is definitely worth the download. I have not used this app for long but I feel like it’s great for me to visualize my calories and I feel more motivated to stick to my daily calories to loose weight. I like the layout of the app. I have been having a hard time with weight and tracking my calories because lose motivation quickly but I think this app can change things for me. I think this is also great for people who need to gain weight as there is an option for those types of people as well. I have many friends who struggle with not eating enough and they are very active athletes. I can see this being great for them as well. Even when the weight is lost you can change the calories to make sure you maintain that certain weight and don’t lose too much. I love this app, I think everyone should give it a try! 👍👍👍

Great app, but I have some feedback. Been using this app daily for over a year, really love the simplicity. I have a few feature requests though: - allow inputting the gram amount of a food instead of the quantity (this would prevent the user from having to go to a calculator, and divide grams for the quantity and copy and paste it into the app) - add toggle for Home Screen to show macro counts in individual food rows. I see a recent update was done to add this, but it clutters up the screen and can’t be removed without turning off macro tracking (unless I’m mistaken) Edit: love that the devs responded and noted down my feedback. I have another request: when scanning in foods, either fetch the gram amount for the serving size or allow the user to edit it in. It helps to standardize serving sizes in grams for consistency.

Great app, Simple Design!. I liked using the app alot, its not like other fitness /kcal counting apps that are extremely crowded in design and have too many different options. Some things are kept simple and work best when their simple. This app is that. Nice way to quickly app your kcals and track your weight. Push notifications are nice but they seem to come a few moments after I log my kcals. Only complaint is when you add a significant amount the app freezes (500+). Which is a minor inconvenience. Other than that id recommend it. • • Id like to request different themes for the app if the developers see this. Itd be a nice addition.

Nearly perfect. This app is amazing (for me). Everyone is different in what they need and their goals. This app is clean, and simple. For me that’s exactly perfect. Actually I wish it was simpler. If there was a way to modify further only screens you need that would make it better. It has everything you need and syncs to my health app and my strong app for weight training. I tried my fitness pal and it was too involved. I can’t stick with so much tracking every single day. This app is great because I just like to put in a number to know where I’m at for the day/week/month, And it’s clean. Paid for the sub and it’s worth it.

Love the app but the pop ups are obnoxious!. I find this app perfect, you can input everything on your own instead of some complicated search system, and the visual tracker of how much I’ve eaten helps me a lot. It’s minimal enough to not be overwhelming but still has all the features I could want! The only reason I took off a star is that for some reason every night there’s a “limited time offer!” for lifetime premium “expiring in __” which the first time made sense, since apps sometimes give newcomers a discount premium rate, but it’s been a few days and the discount somehow still hasn’t expired... I just find that annoying. Be upfront about that being the rate, don’t try to trick me into buying it on the spot because I think the “deal” will disappear when it actually won’t!

Love this app!. My husband and I have been using this app to track our eating for about 4 months and we love it. We actually liked the free app enough to purchase the extras and it is well worth it. You get more food look ups, you can track your water consumption and there were some other features that unlocked with the subscription. It’s so easy to look up foods and track them, and the app even remind you periodically to track in case you forget. I tried a few other apps before this but they weren’t as intuitive or easy to use. I definitely will keep using this one!

No longer working. I loved this app but just got an iPhone 14 and now when I try to put in the same stats as before it’s telling me I can consume 400kcal a day when it was around 1400kcal before, now having to find an alternative

Useless. I just wanted a simple calorie counter that allowed me to add a number of calories per day that I can deduct. This is a huge waste of my time that cost me $50>

??. I can’t seem to delete my accountZ and when I message the team I HAVE to make an account on “Fun Media” , I really shouldn’t have to do this. To have a profile deleted.

Australian foods. It’s a good app just need some Australian foods so it’s quick and easy when added what you have eaten.

I want to love this. Please please please get the Australian data base so I can use this app Amazing because this app is the best one out there! Please do this asapppppp

Yay! A calorie counter that isn’t trying to be a social media platform. No subscription? No social media rubbish? It’s absurd that this is such a rarity. And yes, it does support kilojoules. Food library could do with some better organisation, most things seem to be there but can be hard to find or not obvious about their content. Sugar in default coffees for example. Easy to resolve with familiarity and some presets.

Best calorie tracker out there. I think I have tried them all and can confidently say this is the best. It has a slick interface (very Apple) but is accurate and reliable. There are several ways to track and plan, using meals, recipes, plates, custom add etc. Their database is solid but you can enter your own items easily. The water tracking is great and the Apple watch app is actually useful - I have all my go to meals ready to add as plates so tracking calories is totally seamless! I love this app!

Amazing app recommend to all. It counts my calories just by using the free version it also counts protein vitamins fat sodium water and more it’s amazing and I’m glad I found it.

iCloud sync. Wish it had sync working fully between iPhone and Apple Watch. Would be perfect then.

Perfect!. Exactly what I needed! Thank you!

Barcode Scanner. I’ve subscribed to premium but can’t find anywhere inside the app to scan food barcodes - as promised. Please help.

Food menu. It’s a great app I love using it but the problem is there not a lot of our food menu on here I’m in SA. Like I’m taking lady shake nd lady bars and liteneasy, hope u can update your food menu..

Can scan foods. I press the plus bottom and go to press the scan bars code button and all it dose it take me back to the home page, you don’t have all the foods and now I can even scan it how is this ment to work

hell yeah. Cheers lads for a great app that is so simple and easy to use

Can't add calories. Latest version is broken. Press the plus button on the Home Screen of the app and the screen goes blank.

Best app out there; need some updates. I love this app very much. Lots of options to tweak within settings. However, I like to suggest couple of things that could make your app potentially one of the best in app-store. 1. Need Australian database please please. 2. Categorise the recipes as per [calorie range] and [diet plan] which can be find through search bar. 3. Suggestions for a weekly/monthly recipe menu which can be adjusted by user. And maybe able to export the shopping lists for the week. I might be wishing a lot but I would really love to see this functions. Cheers

So easy to use. Very is to use diet tracker. It puts you back in control

So laggy, had potential tho :’). Everything lagged and when I went to enter my foods for breakfast it said it was 2,600 calls instead of like 500-600? It doesn’t log the amount of food, it has a set amount already and it was difficult trying to edit the amounts as the app was lagging so much- even though everything else on my phone was running perfectly fine.

Easy to use. Love it, it’s simple and just what I wanted

Fantastic! No shame, no tricks, it’s completely utilitarian. All the other calorie counting apps are very patronizing with their names, advertising, and format, but not this one! It’s very body-neutral, with options to lose, maintain, and gain weight, without any of that armchair-psychology nonsense! The last good calorie counting app that I used was a lot like Callory, and it was called MyPlate, but unfortunately since MyPlate recently shut down (RIP) I had to go looking for another. Callory does what MyPlate did and more, all with a clean design and a way to quickly add calories on the go. Long live Callory, I hope that the good utilitarian apps like this one can shoot the top of the charts as they deserve, and as we the calorie counting people deserve.

Very helpful for gaining weight. I’ve been trying to gain weight for months to no success. This app makes it far easier to gain weight and turns eating into a bit of a game so it’s more fun!!

Navigation lacking. I like the options to find food, but figuring out where to log water is hard. Logging it as a meal is likely not right

Way to expensive. Maybe a quarter of the features of some of the free apps on the App Store

Just WOW!!! Amazing. (Update). Updated review (2 stars) Buggy. Please fix the bug when editing entered amounts, it randomly and inadvertently reverses your updated values. You may not even notice that your changes were reversed. Not reliable. Please fix so you can go back to the 5 star arena. Original review (5 stars) I’ve tried multiple calorie tracking apps, and this one is by far the best of all. Extremely flexible and customizable. I recommend the premium version to maximize the user experience (nope, I am not a bot 😜). I love the barcode scanning and the nutritional label scanning feature that autofills the nutritional info, very accurate. Nice OCR stuff! The only one thing that I wish it had, is a feature to take a picture of your meals. Still 5 stars!

The data doesn’t accurately arrive in health app. The data doesn’t accurately arrive in health app and that is my high gripe. I hope they update this app to fix the issue. Would also be nice if it would track alcohol consumption.

Having trouble logging foods. Ever since the most recent update I haven’t been able to log any new food and I either have to manual entry or put in old foods I’ve eaten. Hope to see this fixed. Loving the app for far :)

Efficient platform. Most apps loose focus on the main goal of a weight loss app. Track calories and weight quickly. Calory delivers with simple and efficient recording. Other apps on other resources like meal plans and require tons of clicks add basic updates. If you want to track weight and calories with minimal pain. This is the app.

Thank you devs/team for the lifetime option 👏. Ive been using mfp for close to a decade and refuse to pay for the absolute robbery of their subscription, and after using Calory for 10 mins i switched to their lifetime purchase and never looked back. It is incredibly amazing to see developers and teams in 2023 offering a lifetime single purchase for software. So thank you this app is worth every dollar because it packs a hefty suite of features, a clean ui, and the $ is going to support a fantastic team that built quite honestly, a pretty sleek top-class app. I love the customization options and the fact that the main calory ui bubble moves with the gyro! I just truly appreciate that little extra effort that is put into this app. Lifetime purchase = lifetime user. Ill be recommending this app to every single human that cares about this sort of thing. Bravo devs, well done you did the fitness and health industry proud👏

En français svp. L'application est très bien, mais je trouve très peu d'aliments qu'on retrouve au Québec je dois rentrer moi-même les metadonnées.

Worth it to get the lifetime membership. Been through many calorie tracking apps but this is by far the most stable and fast (also great interface). The only thing that needs to be worked on is bar code scanning for Canada which isnt at its best but i am not going to take away a star because a simple barcode program doesnt work. If you are too lazy to track your calorie input manually then you are too lazy to lose weight. The best part is the integration with health app and how it automatically subtracts the calories from the day you spent walking/standing/activity. These guys got a loyal customer and a fan. Great job team!

Typos. The app is great. I like the way it’s made all around a good app but, I tried to log my supper and I added a 0 at the end on accident. So now instead of a 600cal meal I have a 6000 cal meal logged. Honestly not that big of a deal but annoying that you can’t remove a meal if you add too many calories on accident

Beautiful. I love the design and functionality of this app. The Apple Watch support is absolutely fantastic too!

Great app but missing one feature to subscribe. Great app with the calories visually represented by little spheres! But it is missing the read feature in Apple health for proteins, carbs and fat. When I log a meal from Hellofresh, data with calories and macros (protein, carbs and fat) is sent to Apple health app. But Calory app only reads calories from Apple health but I need to track my macros as well... Would it be possible to add the read feature in Apple health for macros (protein, carbs, fat)? I would definitely subscribe if so.

I like this app. However it’s a bit glitchy, some fine tuning is required. Delayed reaction when entering info, which causes double entry on quantity input.

Fantastic App!. I really like it because it has Tim Hortons, Jack Astors, Pizza Hut etc menu pre loaded. All you need to do is search the restaurant and the menu shows up. I like that I can create a button for my own meals. I like that it’s not a social media app. I just want to log my food and calorie intake as well as what nutrients I’m consuming. I don’t need anyone’s motivation or pep talk. This does just that. Syncs beautifully with my iPhone and Apple Watch. Being able to log food on my watch is great. All around it’s a FANTASTIC App. Worth every Penny!!!

This is just what I need. An awesome simple app that’s just what I need- I don’t need community and articles just simple calculation, this app is so thoughtful that provides some shortcuts (banana easy to add), and I added the widget on Home Screen for easy access. Truly a gem!! Hoping that you can add oats to the shortcuts, I’m sure people would appreciate it as we all know everyone whos into fitness would use them. Thanks for such an amazing app:)))

Love the app but. **edit** Changing my rating because I have discovered barcode scanning is a premium feature. Took off a star because I think barcode scanning should be a main feature. I love how simple and to the point this app is, however I can’t get barcode scanning to work even though it says US and Canada and the function is turned on. I tried selecting contact support but it tells me to add an email address in my settings and I can’t seem to find where to do that either.

Helps you gain weight!!!!. This is quite literally the best app I’ve ever used!!! This is the first app I’ve ever found that helps me to gain weight 🤩🤩🤩😁😁😁 too many apps are only focussed on helping you lose weight, which can be very frustrating for people like myself who just want to GAIN WEIGHT!!! I’ve gained 5bs this week alone with this app 🥳🥳🥳🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Gettt thissss app!! You honestly won’t regret it 🔥🔥🔥 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! 5 stars isn’t even enough to rate this, I’m in loveeee 😍🤗👏🏾❤️

Nice clean interface. Love it after coming from another app where I was served tons of ads and recommendations. The label scanning alone is brilliant. Request if possible that when scanning barcode and nutrition labels that we could use a custom amount instead of the standard (1/2 cup, 55 grams, etc.)

Beautiful, easy, no-subscription calorie counter. I’m pretty sure this is one of the few (if only) calorie tracking apps that doesn’t make you sign up for an account, pay for a subscription, and all of that other extra stuff that most of them require. It does ask you a bunch of questions when you start (weight, height, birthdate, etc) to calibrate it and a goal weight. The purpose of the goal weight is to give you an idea of how many calories per day someone with your body type should have. If you’re fine with your weight, just put that in and it will just help you to maintain that. Once you’re past that, the main interface is beautiful and intuitive. Your calories are visualized as little balls in a larger ball and they increasingly add more balls whenever you log calories. It shows you how many you’ve consumed so far and how many calories you have left so that you can meet your daily intake amount. It’s pretty easy to log your foods as you go along. Just press the + sign, toggle the meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks/other), add the amount of calories, and submit it. You can create custom entries you can name and enter the calories as well as the macros (protein/fats/carbs). You can also use their search which I haven’t used so much but seems to cover many of the more commons foods/drinks etc. This is a great calorie app and like I said, the lack of all the other nonsense that seems to be required for most other tracking apps is its best feature. You don’t have to try to lose weight or do anything, you are allowed to simply track your calories if you want. No subscriptions, no life-gurus/coaches, no custom diet plans. Its everything I wanted, with none of that other crap

Excelent!. Best calorie counter ever!

Expensive and doesn’t track some macros. I added fiber as my active macro and I input it manually or thru directory in app and it does not track. Seems like an expensive app and might look elsewhere. Update: glitch seems to have fixed itself after a few resets. I guess app is decent but expensive.

Great customizations, some suggestions. The different layout customizations are great. It would be really good if there were also options to show saturated fats and added sugar in the macros (not just total sugar and fats). The daily recommended limit of 22g of sugar is generally only supposed to apply to added sugars not any sugar such as from fruit.

Amazing App! Highly recommend. Unlike other apps, this one allows you to change layout which makes is amazing in my book. Calorie tracking is easy and fun with it

Disappointing. Would be great if this app wouldn't just randomly delete all the data that you entered. This has happened to me several times, especially when using different devices to enter meal information. Unfortunately I'll be having to switch to a different food tracking app that provides more reliability.

You must pay to use this app. You cannot use without signing up to pay

Pretty good, issue with widget. The largest widget has one of the little balls floating in the corner lol. Bit of an eye soar. Otherwise it’s good

The app I needed. I wanted an app I could open and quickly type in the calories I’ve eaten. This one is definitely the one!

Calory. Simple, easy to use. Very useful.

Best calorie counting app and also good for tracking weight. Highly recommend. Premium isn’t needed for me to be able to use it and it has everything I want in an app used for its purpose. In my opinion, it’s the best calorie counting app out there

Great. Super customizable, and you can pay for a lifetime licence. That’s why I chose it. While the database of food is smaller than the big players like myfitnesspal, I just choose something similar. The goal is conscious eating, not perfect calorie tracking. Great app.

No Burned Calories :(. Great App! I love it except for one thing: no matter how many times i reset my privacy settings to allow Calory to access my health app, it will not connect. What do i do?

The Best!. I’ve used many calorie and nutrition trackers and this one is my favourite by far. I paid for the premium version (worth the price!) and it has everything I need and is quite simple to use. However, the best thing about this app is that it can be set up so that tracking feels very neutral and very much about the data. No giant red “you ate too much!!” numbers.

AWESOME. I have the onetime paid version of the app (which i am grateful that it was even an option, what with everything being subscription based now), and i love it. The way you can quickly add calories without having to add other macronutrients or have it be an actual food entry is something that, strangely, most other food logging apps dont have. I also love how the circle thingy with all the calorie balls moves around with the orientation of the phone. Small detail, and unnecessary, but it makes the app all the better

Still trying to figure it out. It seems like a pretty decent app, but it’s not as intuitive as it could be and without a mini legend or instruction manual, I’m a bit confused. The difference between plates and my foods, for instance. Also, how to create and add your own stuff and bypass the limitations of units (ie use “handful” or “1/4 cup” instead of 1 cup, etc). It also says that there are widgets available but I can’t figure it out. And I bought the lifetime app, but it keeps suggesting I subscribe to daily and weekly so I am not clear as to whether or not those are different subscriptions? I love the visual fishbowl. It makes a lot of sense and I think overall I will really like this. I just wish there was a simple overall overview of how each section works.

Very Happy. Update: 12 June 2021 The app keeps getting better ie. If the food you are searching for manually or via barcode isn’t found you can scan the nutrition label and give it a name. Not a new addition but it is an awesome added feature that is well worth mentioning. Pros: -great support from the developer. I got answers to questions before I had even committed to a subscription. -the help website is quite comprehensive and will likely have an answer to your questions. -very cost effective in comparison to the industry leader? MyFitnessPal. (thousands of searchable recipes). -syncs using iCloud to iPhone, iPad or Mac with one subscription. -detailed macro nutrients so you can see your ongoing daily intake of proteins/sugars/ fat etc. -you set your activity level and the app calculates your daily calories. Ie. If you set your activity level from sedentary to very active; it will suggest a daily calorie intake based on that. There is also a "calories burned" setting. You can turn this on and allow access to the Health app. (not sure how this works) -if you often eat the same meal (breakfast cereal & milk, coffee, cream, sugar etc) you can save this as one of your "plates". Next time you have this same meal; one click adds ALL of the ingredients. Cons: -takes a bit of time to become familiar with it, but in the end, it is worth it. -Canadian food database and barcode scanners are good, but needs improvement and I'm pretty confident that this will improve. In conclusion; you'll need a subscription to access all of the features but I think you'll like it. Recommended.

Subscription scam app. Not for Canadian market.. So far every barcode I’ve scanned isn’t recognized. I’m talking name brand stuff not recognized at all. Pretty useless until that gets fixed. And the label scanner doesn’t work well either. Ignores half the stuff. If your in Canada don’t waste your time or money in this app As per the response. You are scamming people. You sell an app that has no choice but to opt in to an automatic subscription that only works in two jurisdictions, but you don’t warn anyone hoping to get as much subscription money before people realize your app sucks. Complete scam. Zero stars if I could.

Barcode scanner is 🔥💩. Most foods scanned show up with no results. Apparently no support for Canada. 👎

free and does the job!!!!. does what you need it to do for a free app

Beautifully designed, but it’s missing one thing. This app is great. Other tracking apps I’ve used don’t allow me to just quickly enter in the calories without having to pick what it is I exactly ate. This app does though and it syncs with my smart nutrition scale and smart scale. I only with there was an option to input calories burned so that it shows my offset.

Need more food options…. This app seems really amazing it’s just very difficult to log my food. Maybe it’s because i’m in canada and the brands are different, but it’s hard for me to even log a simple meal. Sadly

Un-intuitive, no caffeine tracking in Macros.. Missing many BASIC features. Yes, UI is somewhat polished, but the user flow is not well thought out. I switched from another app I was using because it got too cumbersome with many features such as “support groups” and other ridiculous ideas, but Calory is missing essential functionalities. I wish I had an alternative recommendation, so far I haven’t found an app that does the basic things right without it having an overly complex UI.

The BEST Calorie Counter App LOVE IT. I have used 4 other calorie counter apps and this is the best. First, the visual display of calories left and when you go over is genius AND fun! I have lost weight because of this app and I am keeping it off! You can set different limits per day, since we know some days we are way more active than others. By far this is the easiest scanner for quickly adding items. Honestly, the scanner is just amazing. Then, if you don’t have time to scan, you can just punch in the numbers. You can always edit what you entered. My only wish would be able to order the macro nutrients display so I could see sugars first. I wish it was easier to add your weight. I wish I could an inches for my waist, hips, and thighs. Bottom line is this app is literally helping me get fit and lose the fat!!

AMAZING!!!. As someone who over the last 5 years has tried multiple different calorie counting apps including some of the most popular ones, they all did the but were cluttered with other information that I personally didn’t need. This app makes calorie tracking super simple and easy, with a beautiful minimalist design and awesome widgets! 10/10 would recommend!! Side note: I would love it if we were able to select the start time of each day

Great app.. Love the app. It’s focus is on tracking calories. It has a Life Time subscription if you like it. I like the dot animation and the fact that it relies entirely on my Health data is a big plus. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star review for me is at times when I want the app to calculate the calories for me it falls short. If I measure out 2.33 oz of Milk for example for coffee, it only lets me log in a full 8 oz serving or makes me do the math to figure what the 2.33 oz of an 8 oz serving is. Would be nice if the app ran calculations for me.

Love the UI. This has all the features I want in a food tracker and none of the things that I don't. The clean, iOS-first design is a joy to use, and I laughed out loud the first time that I went over my calorie budget. As someone with astigmatism, THANK YOU for supporting dark mode. Also, I make a few meals very regularly, and for these the Siri Shortcuts are a huge time saver. I've tried tracking food before with My Fitness Pal, but all the probing questions and extra crap that they force you to view really demotivates me. I don't want my food tracker to feel like social media. I could nitpick over a few minor things, but overall this is such a better experience than MFP that I'm happy to purchase the lifetime plan. Thanks for the quality app and for including a non-subscription option!

Beautifully Simple and Clean. One of the worst aspects of other food tracking apps is they push ads, unnecessary extras, or have an overly complicated UI. Calory is thankfully a relief from this sea of poorly designed apps, and offers instead an easy to use, visualize, and utilize app that has just enough integration and extras to be perfect, without cluttering the interface with garbage unnecessary UI. The easy to visualize quick view, along with the recent macro improvements and significant food database improvements has made this my go-to food tracking application.

Needs QoL Improvements. I love the design of this app, which is much better than any of the competition. However, it has flaws: As others have mentioned, the food database needs more food in it. It is seriously lacking. Manual food entry works for a one time entry, but not well after that. Unless I save a manual entry as a “meal,” it isn’t accessible later and would have to be reentered. The one exception is if it still shows up in “recent,” but that’s also inconsistent. If it does show up, I can only log it in the same quantity as before. So if I log a cup of something I had for dinner, but then have a half cup serving for lunch the next day, I can’t easily input 0.5 serving and have to manually adjust each macro and calorie listing. As mentioned above, the recent section needs to be made more consistent. Sometimes I can’t find foods I eat on a regular basis, even the next day. I’m paying for a subscription because I like the design so much, but this app just makes some things way harder than they need to be.

Great. Patiently waiting for the database and barcode scanner update. As of now, this looks to be like the best calorie counting app (plus an actual, usable Watch app!) when it comes to UI/UX. Add in better databases and this will be my default calorie counting app for a long time. Will be sure to update my review when 1.2 drops! Edit: 3 -> 5 stars. 1.2 is great so far. I haven’t ran into any bugs yet, but as for the core functionality of the app, it works great and haven’t had any issues so far!

To the developers. Write speeds are unacceptable on iOS. I try to press “add” on food items and the app slowly crashes - it leads to *other apps on my phone getting slow* beyond just your own app. This has been going on for 2-3 months now. I paid for your app for 2 annual cycles because you promise simplicity compared to MyFitnessPal and other trackers. It is unacceptable to have bug and performance issues that last for such a long time when the features you offer are so limited. Do better. Edit: search relevance is bad. Don’t do any homegrown search implementation. Semantic search is better.

Awesome Calories counter!!. Calory is a visually stunning app! While it took me a bit of time to familiarize myself with the user interface, after spending an hour exploring its features, everything became effortless. The calorie counter functions flawlessly, fulfilling its intended purpose without any issues. The only suggestion I have is to include a recipe-sharing feature, as it would be wonderful to share my favorite recipes with friends and family. Apart from that, this app is perfect in every way. Don't hesitate to get it now!

Amazing app. Very helpful! The scan feature for barcodes and labels is amazing. Makes counting protein and calories and several other needed info for most diets very easy. Wish it were easier to locate caffeine and water intake. Great fun sloshing the calories around the simulated stomachs. Wish it had the ability to count vitamins aswell. All in all would definitely recommend to anyone especially if you have a diet your trying to follow.

Great App! But there are some small things…. I heard about this app through an ad on a podcast, and I found it really easy to track food across devices. I love the fact that one can track macros unlike other platforms (e.g. Fitbit). There are a couple of little things. I noticed the app crashes on iPad OS when I try to look at monthly history. Also, it would be nice if I could separate sugar from added sugar with the macro tracking. This would help me stay within the American Hearth Association’s guidance on added sugar intake and not have it bundled with non-added sugar (such as from fruit).

Pretty good with room for improvement. The app has a nice UI but it crashes too often, the barcode scanning feature is nice but it usually gets the nutrition facts wrong, the item’s name wrong, or the serving size wrong. Suggestion, maybe add an option that allows us to see both the macronutrient and micronutrient information for every meal, ex: Lunch 600 Cal. 30g Carbs 20g Protein 5g Fat 5g Sugar 1g Sat Fat… 10mg Vitamin A 20mg Calcium etc… and maybe the ability to see all of your micronutrient information macronutrient in the home menu of the app. Those suggestions could greatly improve the utility of this otherwise great app.

Good Calorie Counting app. Update: the app no longer syncs water consumption with their own "WaterMinder" app. Also, PLEASE add the ability to turn on your flashlight as you wanted to scan nutrition label at night. This app is the best bang for your buck. It does everything most other calorie intake / diet apps do for a whole a lot lower subscription fee. Customer service is friendly and responsive as well. Scanning an entire nutrition label information is such a huge plus.

Great App. I have used this app for only a day so I will check back in. However it calculates food and calories- has a scanner and sets times for your schedule with notifications. It also calculate protein under the food product for Keto users. I only wish they had a full total of protein option without going to the foods. The same as calculated water. Very nice app and user friendly. My guess after this month I will purchase the year as it’s reasonable!

Use it daily!. I love this app, it has really helped me in my weight loss and when I hit my goal I will continue to use it to track my macros. I love the ability to scan the items - although not all are loaded! (Maybe allow users to add missing ones and verify?) The only thing I see continuously wrong is the daily values for the other amounts - caffeine/cholesterol/etc is never adding up correctly, but I’m not tracking those at the moment. Love the customizing though and tell all my family members to use!

Good app, a few comments on what to expect:. I’ve had to track my calories this week for a college fitness class, and this app has been helpful for keeping it all organized. It’s visually very pleasing and not stressfully disorganized. If I were looking to do this long term, I would really wish that I could track macros without paying for a premium subscription. Also, a place to log exercise and calories burned would be helpful. Otherwise, I appreciate this app a lot.

Simple and sufficient!. I was previously using Myfitnesspal, but was frustrated with the limitations of the free version and appalled by how expensive the premium version was. Then I found Calory. It’s very affordable, very customizable, simple and intuitive to use, and has all the features you could ever need — I would argue even more so than Myfitnesspal — and has a very large database for the bar scan option. Overall, I can confidently recommend this app over any of the calorie trackers I’ve used in the past.

Has lots of foods in libraries. This app keeps my eating data synced and accessible. I like the numbers of foods already in the libraries and find most everything in a portion I am eating. Some things to consider for improvement for users: change weight “lost” to match the user preference in settings, share instructions for adding a new barcode to the library, explain macronutrient recommendations better, explain Quick Add functions and how to modify those better.

Finally, A Good Calorie Counter. I have downloaded about a dozen Calorie Counters/Trackers. Most of the popular ones want WAY TOO MUCH information. I don’t have time to enter my BMI, DNA or bowel movements. Just give me a calorie counter that I can customize to fit my daily food intake. The Calory app does this and if you enter something wrong it can be edited. Love it! Suggestion...please consider allowing the user to manually add his/hers burned calories for the day. I walk 3 miles almost every day. I would love to subtract 360 calories from my daily calorie intake. Thank you!

Excellent Food Diary & Calorie Counter. I’ve used many, many methods of keeping track of my meals and calories and this has been the most intuitive, easy and extremely efficient app I’ve used! It gives me the data on my my food intake that is making a difference in what I’m choosing to eat. I finally feel like I have a tool that is truly useful and completely hassle free. The app’s visuals, the food database, reminders to enter meals and tons of shortcuts, make this a great app that really works for losing weight!

Quick and Easy. I’ve tried other apps and I don’t stick with them because they’re just not that user-friendly. Calory has all I need in 3 screens or so. So it’s easy to stick with and, most importantly, it makes my weight loss easier to stick with. My only request would be to add a simple ‘calories burned’ tracker. I use Strava to track activities and cals burned but would love to be able to log those into Calory.

Great app but one big suggestion. I really like this as I have the premium version and it lets me count my macros efficiently. The barcode scanner can sometimes be iffy but still good. And the layout is nice to look at. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE if they had something similar to Argus or MyFitnessPal that let’s you end your calorie counting and tells you how close you are to your goal. Very small but it makes you feel like you’re making progress.

Beauty & Simplicity. I adore the look, feel, and functionality of this product. It’s clear that great care went into the tricky psychology of food tracking. The database, saved meals, etc are up to par, and the playful “marble” view really resonates because when I track beyond my goal, the dots actually get in the way and clutter my view, which in many ways is what’s happening in my body! Brilliant! This has quickly become my favorite interface ever. BTW the other apps made by the same company are also brilliant. Keep it up please!

Meh. The food search options are okay, most features work decently but there are some foods that consistently cause the app to bug out and cannot be entered. I often have issues entering cheddar cheese and am now having a difficult time entering chicken thighs. I have been using the app for months but I am nearly to the point of switching if this keeps happening. Also one major negative is that many foods do not have it as an option to enter by gram so I sometimes need to do the calorie calculations myself to enter the right amount of servings.

Awesome app!. I have been using this app for a week now, and I love it. It took a few days to figure out all the bells and whistles, and it's not exactly what I would call intuitive for a novice. However, if you take your time and look around, you'll find something new that it can do. Kudos to the developers and I hope it just keeps improving. My only suggestion is a small user guide for those who may have difficulty learning how to use it. I have definitely been recommending this app.

If you’ve got the money. I recently got this app and I don’t believe I’ll be keeping it but it does look very great! If you’re looking to only track calories then this app is great as the free version, if you want to track calories and macros you do have to pay the subscription. They offer a lifetime subscription for $30 which to me isn’t that bad considering all the apps that charge $30/mo I personally don’t have the funding to pay for the app. But I think it’s a really nice app that you should consider getting!

Simple & Beautiful. This app is exactly what I was looking for! I am so tired of using other weight-loss apps which force limitations and regiments down your throat. I simply want a quick and easy way to track my calorie intake each day, and this app delivers just that! I was actually getting ready to develop my own little tool because I had lost hope in ever finding an app like this. The interface is so easy to use and well designed. Setting it up was easy, no sign up, and it integrates with Apple health! I am proud to say that I'm a premium subscriber as well. Take my money! 💵 P.S. I can't wait for water tracking to be integrated. If I had one suggestion to make it would be to make sure that adding water is just as easy as custom plates! Having it on the widget would be a must-have for me because I would be tracking water much more frequently than any type of food. So needs to have very quick access! Thanks again for such a great app! Regards, Dalton

Great app but need recipe importer. It’s an extremely good and easy to use app. Everything is intuitive and getting a hang of it is fast, especially for the premium version, paying $15 with the features it includes, it’s not horrible. Better than MyFitnessPal! The only thing it’s missing is recipe importer from a website. When I can’t find a specific recipe, it’s tough having to input every quantity/ingredient manually especially when I have to search every single ingredient with the specific weight.

Excellent and simple. Does the job and more.. This app, in my opinion is better than MFP and 5 of the other apps I’ve tried. The developer consistently responds to feedback requests and just continues to make this app better. Great for keto, low carb, weight loss, bulking, or plain ol maintenance. The lifetime purchase is well worth the features. Been using this app for a couple of years and I’m really happy with it. It’s come a long way.

Was superb until Apple Watch integration broke. This is a wonderful app that does exactly what I needed and no other app does: make it as effortless as possible to track calories. I’m only giving three stars because it used to work seamlessly with Apple Watch, but that broke at the iOS and Watch OS update that happened a couple of months ago. Now, Calory on Apple Watch won’t display your total calories for the day in a ‘complication’ that is in the corner of a watch face. I’ve tried everything to fix it, including uninstalling and reinstalling several times, and restarting both phone and watch. This needs a developer solution please — it was fantastic before and can be again. Thank you!

Download it :). I’ve never rated an app, but I’ve decided to rate this one just because of how good it is and how much I rely on it on a day to day basis. This is the most simple and user friendly calorie counting app in the whole App Store, and it’s super aesthetically pleasing and minimalist. I’ve tried others and this is the best. Calorie counting is the best way to lose weight. I’ve been using this since March and have lost 10 lbs. But beware, calorie counting can turn into a toxic habit and lead to an ED. Try it out if you’re in a mentally stable place 💕

Top 2 and not #2. I don’t usually write reviews but I had to for Calory. It’s minimal and only took a few minutes to see where everything was located. The widgets are helpful and the watch complications makes logging food even easier. This app helps me see just how much I’m eating and I’m able to make adjustments on the fly by scanning barcodes and editing serving sizes. 10/10 very recommended

Love this!. Simple yet so sophisticated (in a good way). The animation is cute but mostly this app is super helpful because it gives you a very good visual. All of the data it provides “behind the scenes,” in raw form and graphical form, is so useful. It includes easy to read ways to see how you’re doing overall and in each macronutrient category. The database of foods to enter is comprehensive. I haven’t used the barcode feature yet but plan to. Such a smart way to track your eating. A version of this for daily fitness goals would be awesome!!

Best Calorie Counting App Ever. I have tried them all, WW, Fitness Pal, Carb Manager and NONE of them are as good as Calory!! It took me a day or so because it doesn’t really have prompts but boy, it makes it easy to count and adjust portions. LOVE it! I would suggest I. Future editions maybe putting in prompts like “Hit Cancel When Done” and Double-Click to adjust portion size or quantity. But I did figure that out rather quickly so no deductions required. Great app!

Buggy. I want to love this app but there a few bugs that make it unusable for me. The first is that it doesn’t update the daily goal if you change your metrics in the settings. For example, if you set your goal to lose 0.5 lbs per week and then later change this to 1lb per week, it does not update your calorie goal which makes no sense. Another related bug is if you delete the app, and create new goals, your old calorie goal is still saved in some places. It will update in settings but not on the daily view. Overall the calorie goal is really buggy and once set very difficult to change it consistently across the app.

Great App. It’s very simple to use and has all of the tracking features I need. I’d strongly recommend purchasing premium (the lifetime value is worth it). The only other feature I’d love to see incorporated somehow, is to sync with my intermittent fasting tracker. Perhaps integrating a fasting tracker into this app (using the circular visual to also act as a fasting clock, or indicate when I can fill my calorie intake). The notifications also aren’t tailored to my intermittent fasting schedule.

Great potential. This app, especially being without a subscription, I’d very helpful. However, there are a few improvements that I think would enhance the experience. 1. I’d like to change the serving size on whatever I’m logging. It just makes things more streamlined. 2. I would like a simple way to log exercise directly into the app - more than just running as well. Overall, this app does its job well and has potential to be even better in the future.

Much better than other fitness apps. Much more sleek, elegant, and easy to use than other fitness and nutrition apps such as My Fitness Pal. Tracking calories could not be easier, helped me to lose 25 pounds and be a healthy weight for the first time in my whole life. My only gripes are that is that it sometimes glitches and gets rid of my calorie information for the current day and moves it to the next, and that it is annoying to swipe between days.

Really needs an open serving size value. I have tried all kinds of values in the “serving size” field under my custom foods and it seems to only want “cups” but also won’t allow fractions. This should just be a completely open field so we can fully customize it to how WE eat. For example, trying to enter the cannabis edibles I make is impossible since the portions are so small. I have to use the notes right now to indicate portion size for those. Couldn’t even change it to weight values. This needs to be fixed and made a fully customizable field. Just let us write whatever we want for portion size on our custom foods.

VISUAL calorie counting helps so much. i use this app every single day and i love it! the visualization of my calories as dots contained in a circle is actually extremely helpful for my diet, like psychologically. and they bounce around which is fun. and any calories over your daily intake are red dots and overflow the circle--which again is just super encouraging to stay on track!! design concept 10/10 suggestions: - sometimes its hard to remember what my plates are just from the icon alone, maybe add more icons or tiny labels? little images would be extremely helpful but could detract from the design - be able to subtract calories from exercise - adjust macros based on ratios rather than grams - different colors!!! i hate the color options, maybe add a color wheel! :) - cute sounds when you add food (like in the waterminder app) - custom notification messages

Great app, missing one thing. This app is great, easy to use, full of nutritional information, and integrated with Apple Watch and the new shortcuts app. The only thing missing is the ability to add “Plates” to specific meals easily. The current setup allows you to add a plates using a small icon, but if the icons are the same, such as a veggie burger and a meatless burger, you can tell which is which, unless you know the kcal count (strange identifier). I’d suggest replacing kcal with first 4 letters of the plate name or and abbreviation. Besides that, looking forward to upgrading g to premium soon!

Glitchy?. Cool concept for the visualization of calorie goals. I tried this app out yesterday and felt like it was rewarding to track at first. It went downhill after lunch: 1. Data base is not nearly as robust as other apps. So, I used the calorie information from those sources. I could not get bar scanner to work as easily as the one on other apps. Not a huge deal to me, but for other users it is. 2. I had trouble getting the date slider at the top of the menu to find the right date. Sometimes it would slide too rapidly or not budge at all. Today (next day) it seems to be working better. 3. The counter seemed frozen a few times and the image went blank when I was trying to login meals. Who has time for that? 4. I finished the day in my target range. I checked the app before bed and it tells me I’m 400+ calories over? I had not logged any additional food. Beyond irritating. 5. Developers don’t put contact email information easy to find on this app or on their website. So, the only option to communicate the bug issues/glitches was in a review.

Good for tracking calories could use some user experience fixes. Only used the free version The catalogue of food they built in for quick adds isn’t that useful. If you commit to the app and eat by routine/ meal prep adding your own “plates” could be worth it. The manual add feature for calories, water, weight, etc.. is fast and simple, but doesn’t automatically set the current time as the time you added, which is annoying extra step and easy to fix. Adding macros of your meal is a extra step you have to take after you added the meal(no option to do it while adding the meal). Could be done better. You have to pay to add macros individually and to use the barcode feature. Nice graphs that average and gives you visual of week, month, and etc. Could add a graph that shows when you eat but the time keeping of the app isn’t smooth.

Far superior!!!!!. This app truly is far superior to all other calorie counter apps. No really, this app is very well designed. Everything from the clean and simple design to the simplicity of tracking your food, it’s perfect! Thank you for the clean design!! It actually makes you want to track your calories. No I’m not paid for this review, this is actually what I think.

Simple App-Great Customer Svc. I had used another calorie and fitness tracker before, but it was very complicated. This app tracks calories and weight in a simple, clean and easy to read format. I had one little bug on the weight page and customer service got back to me quickly to ensure that my app was functioning properly. Like the lifetime subscription option as well.

Custom Food?. Overall, wonderful app. I use it every day and would recommend it to others who are interesting in calorie and nutrition tracking. I purchased the lifetime premium subscription and I would be thrilled to see the custom food option be added soon. I make a lot of food from scratch and would love to be able to record the calories from my own bread, not a store bought bread that I don’t actually know if it compares to my own. This would be a massive improvement.

A great app. I found this app in my Apple news feed and thought I would try it. Have been using another app (fitness pal) and this is by far much better. No ads with Premium benefits and this is a good app to use. Would definitely recommend this app. I like being able to make my own plates and pick a font that describes it for me. Also Kriss has been very helpful in getting a few minor adjustments done. Thanks for this amazing app.

do not get this if you have/had an ED. if i could give this app a 0 i would. this app will literally make you feel so bad about yourself. i have an active eating disorder as of right now and this app has made it worse. it literally overflows and spills out if you go over your calorie limit for the day. i put in my target weight and how many pounds i wanted to lose a day and it told me to eat 800 calories a day. that is 300 more than what i was eating when i was in the prime of my eating disorder. you need at least 1000 calories a day no matter what. please get myfitnesspal or anything else or just start keeping track of your calories in your head. this app has made me feel so so bad about myself because of one food item. please do better.

Very simple. I’ve used many different apps to count calories. I don’t use 90% of g to he features on them. I like the bare bones tracking functionality, and this app is by far the easiest and most intuitive. If I tracked more of my eating I would absolutely buy the lifetime premium, but all I use is the calorie count feature. It also works seamlessly with my new Nike Apple Watch. If you are trying to lose significant weight or get in shape starting from zero, definitely buy the premium version of Calory. You won’t be sorry.
