Mast: for Mastodon App Description & Overview

What is mast: for mastodon app? Mast is a beautiful Mastodon app built with iOS design guidelines in mind. It’s as feature-packed as it is gorgeous. The stunning timelines make reading the latest content a joy.

Mast is also fully optimised for iOS 13 with dark mode and context menu support. It also has Today Extensions, Share Extensions, iMessage Stickers, a Watch app, Siri Shortcuts, and an iPad app. I hope you enjoy using Mast.

“What is Mastodon?”, you may ask. It’s a federated and decentralised social network. Think of it as email, where you can choose your provider, yet talk with almost anyone from anywhere regardless of their choices. The instances on Mastodon give users freedom to find their community, whilst allowing everyone to talk with each other with the level of visibility that they want. The content warning feature makes it safer, and the increased character count makes it far more expressible. It’s what microblogging should have always been.

(Requires a Mastodon account)

I'm constantly evolving and crafting Mast to create the perfect Mastodon app for you. If you have any suggestions or feedback, I'd love to hear it!

Nice app for mastodon. I switched to Mast after another app lost it’s support. It works well, supporting everything I use and is easy to use.

Profile problem. Will not show up when I make my profile picture or background picture but it....other than that it's superb everything is gravy

Love the design!. Five stars. It’s worth it. But.... notifications don’t work. And I have no idea why

Cannot log out of app.. How do I log out of my mastodon account on the app? If there is a way, it cannot be found.

How do you turn on the dark mode?. Help

Great!. This app is great and has what it needs as a mobile version of mastodon. There are some bugs that aren't so great, one in particular is that I'll try and post a finished toot, but in the process the tab closes and I lose the whole toot. It doesn't save into my drafts, simply just deleted when it was meant to be posted. This aside, I really enjoy the app, thanks guys!

Beautiful app that’s actively developed and improved. Updated review from original Time to brush off the cobwebs and update the app! Mastodon is the thing now. As with ALL iOS/iPadOS Mastodon clients, it needs some TLC but it still basically looks good. Multi-account functionality would be wonderful. BTW I’m not asking for freebies. I’ll happily pay any developer who makes a really solid, supported Mastodon. I’ll even pay a sub for it.

Abandonware garbage. This guy’s apps are consistently low quality high fluff and then he abandons them. Not worth it, buy something that will last.

Very promising, pleasant to use, minor snags yet. I've been using Mast for a few days so far, and it's been quite great! The interface feels well thought out and behaves as I'd expect it to. It supports the Mastodon features you need (message privacy, CW's, sensitivity and textual descriptions for pictures), and feels pleasant and fast. Some toothing problems in this revision, but I expect they'll get fixed soon! * the "activity" view crashes very often * you can use the app one handed! Great when waiting in line: double-tap images to zoom, throw them away to dismiss; unfortunately, dismissing animated GIFs requires stretching your thumb all the way to the X in the far left corner (Mast does picture in picture, which seems neat but I don't use it) * It still loses scroll state on occasion (but is pretty good at retaining the position usually!) * content-warning posts, once revealed, can't be closed again; the only way I found to do that has been to scroll away, which restores the warning (weirdly: I've seen background refreshes restore the content warning without any interaction from me) Overall, I think this app is more than worth the price! Once the crasher bugs are fixed, I'd absolutely recommend using it for anyone's Mastodon needs!

Best one I’ve tried yet.. A few things I’d like to see added and would tip to see: 1. ability to swipe between home/local/all rather than reach up to tap. 2. option to see # of replies/boosts/fave on posts without tapping toot. 3. ability to add hashtags to follow via home after searching them like you can on web. Least to most important IMO ^

Out of date. I do not recommend buying this app, because the app hasn’t been updated for more than 2 years many mastodon’s new feature aren’t added to this app. Save your money.

Better than the webUI, work in progress. I’m giving Mast 5 stars because this app is beautiful to look at (though uniquely designed it’s still easily navigated) and the potential is there to be the go to app for Mastodon users. I can’t stress this enough: If you need a mature app that’s been tested for years and has a solid bedrock of Q&A underneath it: look elsewhere. Part of Mast’s charm is that it’s immature software and although it’s a bit buggy, the developer works incredibly hard on adding features and squashing bugs. Updates are frequent and I haven’t witnessed any update feel like a “regression” I’m happy I bought it and look forward to future updates.

Crashes on Notifications. Crashes every single time Notifications are refreshed

Putting Prior Features Behind Paywall — Against Apple TOS. This app is a well designed client for Mastodon. A nice UI. Unfortunately the developer has recently put most functionality behind a subscription (including for those customers who already purchased the full version). Much of the now-locked functionality was already available in the prior paid version (specifically multiple accounts and push notifications). Removing features previously paid for is categorically against the App Store TOS, so I hope the developer is able to figure out a different way forward in the near future. Up until now I’ve been waiting to see if the dev team was at all responsive to the feedback regarding the removal of paid features — at this point, it seems like that’s not going to happen. The only other route to pursue is submitting a complaint to Apple, so that’s the next stop on this particular train.

Notifications do not work, don’t buy this app. This app never prompted me for notifications so I can’t enable them in settings. Also for some reason you can’t like or boost a post without clicking on it. No option to disable the word “toot,” which is awful. Also the app uses hearts for favorites instead of stars, which I hate. Mostly though, I’m just mad notifications won’t work. What a waste of three bucks.

App is crashing won’t open. I just got the app and it crashes every time I open it.

Can’t search for users. Why can I not search for users to follow? This is such a basic feature that just... doesn’t work.

Native feel. Started using Mast as it has iPad and Mac (and watch) versions — liking it so far!

Underwhelmed. This app is so bad it should not be allowed to be a paid app. The search feature is broken and making something as simple as a text post is frustrating. For some reason i have to hit post twice or three times to toot something and then once it decides to work it posts two or three duplicate toots. I can’t beeline the developer not only charges 2.99 for this app but also has the gall to have a tip jar inside the app. Here’s your tip: fix this mess.

Promising but needs a bit of work. It works well for browsing Mastodon but it eschews the default layout of toots which is a bit annoying. I wish boost/favorite buttons appeared by default instead of having to swipe to get to them, and sometimes I can’t see whole threads when viewing a subtoot. The biggest issues are notifications and crashing when I try to view activity for my profile; Amaroq and Tootdon has these issues as well. Notifications worked great up until a week ago but now they’re gone which is a bit annoying.

I'd heard good things, namely that it was worth the $$. It's not. Don't bother. Stick with one of the free third party apps.

Looks nice, not entirely functional. It’s nearly impossible to search hashtags and users. The main feed and profiles look and work very well. Would like to see more attention to browsing hashtags

Frequent crashes. It looks great, but always seems to crash when loading certain tabs. The things that do work, however, are fantastic.

No Upgrade Path For Early Supporters. Great app actually, but I paid a fair amount for an app ($5), and suddenly lost access to every feature I used after a hiatus from Mastodon. No upgrade path, so I honestly feel scammed; i bought the app specifically for those features, and never would have purchased had i known it'd only be for 9 months. Idea of a one time purchase is that it's a one time purchase; Mast isn't like a weather app or some other service-based app that relies on pricey APIs; Mastodon is an open source, "federated" service. Sure, developer needs paid to maintain the application, but stripping 90% of the app from paying users and asking them to pay again seems unfair; at least publish the revised application as a new listing so paying users can use the old version without support. :|

Latest update crashed me 24/7. I updated the app today, and now it’s not loading anything at all. Crashes out so may delete and change apps. Before it was nice but now... somethings went wrong big time. Sorry.

I wanted to like it. The app is slick and looks good, but is clumsy in some areas. I should not have to tap into a toot to interact. Make it an option. I also haven’t had a notification once and the feeds are not always updating without manual intervention when opening the app up. I’ll keep an eye on it but switching back to another app for now.

Doesn’t open. Constantly crashes and won’t stay open

Notifications are broken, other concerns. Notifications are currently completely non-functional, which has been quite disappointing. The developer has known about this for several days, but hasn’t been able to remedy the situation. This delay does not inspire confidence in his ability to provide a reliable service. Aside from notifications, the timeline is frequently buggy with regards to being able to maintain scroll position. Additionally, the “load more toots” button shows up at random and when pressed, completely messes with scroll position, requiring a bunch of scrolling up and down to determine where one was in the timeline. Once the charge for this app transitions out of “pending” state, I’ll be requesting a refund due to lack of notification functionality.

Beautiful but still lacks features. For example, why I can’t see all types of notifications together? But this is still the best mastodon client available.

Good but needs a minor (but important) feature. The like button (along with anything else) should be directly accessible below a post without having to open that post.

Crashes constantly.. A few days after purchasing it started crashing as soon as the app launched. Gave up. I suppose it has some value in that I can share media to it and create a post. But to view that post I need to fire up a web browser which kind of defeats the purpose.

Crashes - Unusable. Crashes when adding image to scheduled toot on iPad, every single time. unusable in current state.

I don't receive push notifications - IOS. :(

Good app, needs a tiny bit of polish. For one it’s hard to caption images because the image does not stay on screen when captioning, which is bad from an accessibility standpoint. And metrics don’t seem to work at all. However very polished after some updates, just needs a bit more work.

Notifications do not work. It's so frustrating. They never load. It's been like this constantly since the beginning. I just...want to use the site and app. I also find accounts I've removed, muted, or blocked still show up. I don't have the problem on the website. The Mac app doesn't work at all.

it’s okay. had some glitches. if you use the touch id lock to open the app it just glitches and crashes. also I don’t like how the boost and like buttons are not visible on posts, you have to hold down the post for those options to pop up

Development is dead. Devs do NOT update this and the current version is borked, do NOT buy this!!

Great with a few bugs. Good layout, nice interface, responsive. A few notes: - Click and hold on my own profile crashes the app. - Also, I switched to another app, then back to this one, and lost the draft of my post. One huge advantage of this app is local discovery. I can see posts from people on my instance. I feel connected to others.

Outstanding Product!. This is turning into my favorite Mastodon app. Would like to see a few new features/options in the future.

Search is broken. I can’t scroll search results. App is a little buggy around its edges. Otherwise a fine fediverse client. I will happily revise my rating once issues are resolved!

Great start, but missing some key features! (Also occasional crashes). This app is beautiful and responsive but: -crashes when switching accounts or replying occasionally -can’t make cws for images other than the nsfw filter? -nsfw filter on posts with images also covers text, making it more difficult to pre-screen content -slightly clunky placement of follow requests, no notification for new pending follower -no way to tell if post has cw applied or not on drafting toot screen (light up the icon if applied maybe?) -custom instance emotes in own posts show up as text? kinda a bummer. I’ll happily update my review and continue using if/when these things are changed, and as JPEG is super on top of updates for this app, I assume things will continue improving! Otherwise, playing with customization in the app is great and there are lots of options to change things to be more standard if you don’t like the layout (such as swiping actions).

Best design, few rough edges. I’ve tried several apps for Mastodon/Pleroma and Mast by far looks the best. I’ve run into a few strange bugs and crashes but that should smooth out as the app matures. Keep up the good work.

Crashes constantly. Worked great for a day. Now it constantly crashes. I tried contacting the developer, but no response. Really disappointing.

Not the best.. It’s trying to work but the biggest issue I have is the inability to search. Not sure if it’s just buggy or what but the explore/ search functions don’t work at all. Definitely not worth the price.

Mast - good UI but some functions don’t work. I just started using Mast for my social App. It has a nice UI but the main feature that sent me back to the App Store was search. The Explore tab has a search button and does perform a search. The resulting list is NOT scrollable nor can I interact with the row items. Eg I couldn’t respond to a toot or follow a person.

Accessibility is an afterthought. I want to like Mast, but when the rough edges for the app do appear, they’re usually in accessibility features. When I upload a photo to include in a toot, for example, there’s no obvious way to add a caption for screen reader users. I have to somehow know ahead of time to long-press the uploaded image, and even though it says it’s done uploading, I get an error when I try adding a caption saying I need to wait until it’s done uploading, even though I haven’t published the toot yet and the app already showed that the image was uploaded. This doesn’t work even when I save it as a draft, because when you do that it doesn’t save the image with the draft and you have to re-upload it and run into the same error. They got a good dark theme though, but that just reflects the priorities of the app.

Dark mode. it would be great to get a dark mode irrespective of ios global settings

Nice UI but limited functionality. Looks super nice and has good UI but can’t search for or follow people through the app. Also confusing between following fees and public feed.

Not Worth a penny SUPER BUGY. This app is SUPER BUGY! It also has a few weird/ annoying bits to it. For example, when you’re typing a toot there is no ‘enter’ on the keyboard. Which is stupid and annoying. It usually won’t let me upload a photo. You have to click either into a toot to boost or like it or use the iOS 3D Touch. It’s generally not user friendly and glitches often. There are days where it just crashes and can’t use it at all. I do hope the developers continue to work on this app. Though I find it very frustrating to use it has a nice interface and has neat features like being able to do polls and view engagement metrics.

Great, but needs to support accessibility features. It’s stylish and works well, but there’s no way to add alt text to uploaded images, which is a serious drawback.

A user experience focused app for Mastodon. Mast is a work in progress (and occasionally crashes) but it’s the nicest iOS app for Mastodon use by far. It has many more features and when I switch to its competitors I feel hamstrung. It’s also currently in active development, so I expect to see further refinements.

Abandonware. Dev seems to have moved on to other things

Great Tumblr alternative.. This app is amazing. Its clean and so many contents. Im loving it. Keep up the hardwork:):) The only reason is not 5 star is that gif should play while browsing in feed. Its little bit annoying i have to press the gif just to see whats happening in that gif. Also sometimes the app close by itself.

Doesn't work with pawoo.net. No toots can be shown.

Unable to login. I bought your the app, but get stuck logging in. Once I select my instance (mastodon.social) and login on its website, the “authorise” button does not seem to do anything. I tried to use the same link in the browser, but this just send me back to the main page of the app without actually logging me in. It’s seems this app is no longer fully compatible with mastodon or iOS.

Still crash a lot. I used to wish that the brand new version and subscription system can bring a better experience, but it still crash like usual.

Barely better than a web view. I don't know where to begin. The iOS app won't complete oAuth, so I can't add my account. The macOS app is able to complete authentication, but is filled with UI glitches, and doesn't allow for customization of basic things like the width of the display columns.

Hasn't been updated in a year. Crashes every time I try to load notifications. Waste of money

Nice.. except for the bugs. This app is pretty well designed and would be a nice native app except it fails to load, crashes, and does odd things constantly. The developer has said it’s “waiting for a rewrite”; I couldn’t recommend buying it until they do so.

HOPELESS. Can’t sign in. The language is confusing. No response for password reset.

Paid for the app, then overnight features disappeared and were locked behind a subscription. Would refund if I could. Terrible user experience, buggy, not worth the money I already paid

Most fully featured, beautiful Mastodon app I’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for a mastodon client that uses iOS features in every aspect of the app, then this is the one you’re after 🥰

Doesn’t send notifications. The app doesn’t give me notifications and it only checks for notifications or new posts when you do it manually. I sent an email to the developer using the app’s “get in touch” menu to ask about this issue but never got a response. The app is very pretty but the fact that you have to manually refresh every feed right now and remember to check whether or not you got any notifications makes it a real pain to use, so it’s absolutely not worth the money right now.

Polished client. I appreciate the translate feature. There is a bug when switching accounts the app crashes.

Update removes features to demand money again. I get that moving to a subscription model is fashionable but it’s slightly more polite to do that by releasing the new version as a separate app, which the prior version being renamed “legacy” sure sounded like was happening, not gutting existing features.

Attractive but freezes often. This app is visually pleasant and when it's working well, I adore it. However, it is prone to freezing when waiting for anything to load, and if you touch the screen in that time, it "queues" that touch for once the thing has loaded, and you can find yourself clicking on anything (even links). Settings like "hold place while loading new toots" don't work as expected. I also find it disappointing for such a pricey app that the rewrite will apparently be released as a whole new app that will have to be paid for from scratch, instead of as the update it would rightfully be.

Crashes, laggy. Unusable

Time to update. Both iOS and Mac versions. Just a suggestion. Mac version is not M1 compatible yet, and the layout is messing up. iOS version, every time I open it, the timeline is empty and I need to manually pull down to refresh to see the contents. Hope don’t eats the beautifully built appearance.

Get it!. Great Mastodon client with some whimsy sprinkled in. Developer is responsive and goes above and beyond on making sure your Mastodon experience will be a good one.

Can’t connect to all instances. Seems unable/unwilling to connect to some instances, maybe being “filtered” by someone to “protect” users from the “evil internet places”? Can’t tell easily. Just a friendly warning.

There's potential here. I really like the idea with this app - one that works on nearly all the Apple platforms, and is open source / Free Software. However, the app has lots of bugs such as: * I can't get it to properly refresh the local timeline on macOS without quitting. * I can't seem to reorder columns. * Crashes on watchOS on my S3 * CMD-, doesn't work to open preferences - in fact, the whole UI seems like a straight port from iOS. Better than nothing, but in practice I'll use a web client instead. Also, the contact links in the About panel either don't activate on clicking, or point to expired domains, so it makes me think the app has been abandoned.

Inactive development?. Looks like Mast was sold by its developer. Not sure if the new owners are looking to improve it or not. It crashes a lot, doesn’t support notifications, and has problems refreshing, so there’s definitely work to be done.

Love the App but Notifications Don't Work. This is a great app and I enjoy using it, but I can't get it to deliver notifications and all the email addresses the developers provide bounce back, not sure how else to get support...

Great client and a developer that stands behind it. Great client for Mastodon and I love the stand that the developer continues to take on not allowing hate speech to be interacted with on his app. Keep up the good work.

Missing too many features. Purchased and saw too late that it hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. No support for notifications? How exactly does that work on a social networking app?

Looks like this app is done.. Developer accounts are inactive, not even bugfix/os support updates are being released. Maybe look elsewhere. Sad cause so much potential…

Developer should disclose domains blocked. This developer treats his users like children and forced a built-in Net Nanny. At bare minimum, he should disclose which domains are blocked before tricking customers into purchases.

Crashes a lot. Lovely app to look at and use, lots of features, but it crashes frequently, either after writing a toot or simply refreshing for more content. This app needs better testing and debugging. Update. I’m giving up on this app. It constantly crashes, even on the most trivial of actions. I’m taking note of the developer and not using ANYTHING of theirs ever again. Terrible quality, and I say this as a very experienced software developer myself.

Great client. Beautiful app! One of the best premium Mastodon clients

Poor design, do not recommend. It's not terrible, but the forced column view means you're giving up the web app for a very narrow view of your feed. I assumed I could hide notifications, messages, etc. If you open a photo, there's no close button, ESC doesn't do anything, so I have to close the app and reopen it. I would recommend sticking with the web app until Mast hits maturity.

I like it; good balance of simplicity and power. Despite the occasional rough spot or crash, I’ve enjoyed using Mast more than other Fediverse apps because of the customizable UI and how it exposes a lot of options in a very efficient, easy to understand way.

Great app... There may be issues on iPad. I’ve used this app an awful lot, and it is really fantastic. I do want to say, however (letting others and the developer know) that recently, I don’t seem to be able to use the app on my iPad Pro 2018. It opens, but I can’t see the timeline, and I can’t see much else. I also can’t post anything new or update my profile. I can log in and change views, but not much else. I stopped using Mastodon for a little while since December, so I do not know in which update since then this started.

Pay to download, pay to subscribe, buggy app. I paid for this app, and now every single settings page is broken and has an ad to pay for a “premium subscription”. First I need to buy the app AND now I have to pay for a subscription, no thanks. The app is missing a lot of polish. It crashes a lot. Many UI paradigms just seem counter intuitive. The whole UI color palette changes randomly. The share button either does nothing or crashes the app, depending on how the app is feeling today.

Seriously?. It’s awesome that I have to pay for this again so I can get basic features back! Except at six times the price now! Sarcasm aside, this app is buggy as all get-out. Sure, it has a beautiful interface, but it’s worthless if it’s either crashing all the time or behind a paywall.

Most iOS centric Mastodon app. This app has just about everything you could ask for in a mastodon app. Very pretty and has a plethora of useful options. Makes mastodon easier to use. Worthy of the cost.

Great app! I’d love more customization. My only gripe is I’d like to be able to customize my notifications. I like receiving them for mentions/direct messages. I don’t really care to see a notification every time someone likes or boosts something I posted. But as is notifications are an all or nothing option.

Developer is responsive, app has good features. Mast is one of the Mastodon apps with the most features (Nb: I use the paid version, purchased in early 2019). I think it has one of the better interfaces for uploading still images, but I haven’t figured out the way to upload gifs. The app is beautiful and I love being able to customize it. The developer listens and responds to feedback, and I appreciate that.

Homework?. I am a programmer and this is the worst thing I have had the misfortune of encountering. The guy who wrote this dismisses complaints about crashes and then showcases the complaints on his Mastodon account. The app simply refuses to run for more than 45 seconds. I’d love a refund. I am so embarrassed that I purchased your homework assignment.

Mast is incredibly full featured and customizable. I am continually impressed by how quickly the dev is adding new features and fixing issues. I recommend it to friends and want to recommend it to stranger too!

Great app!. While still young, this app has a ton of features and a butt-ton of potential. The design style holds up to any modern app and I hold up my glass to it.

Better than using the site in-browser.. Almost everything in this app is more conveniently placed than the default website in browser. App developer updates on an almost weekly basis. Looking forward to all the future updates!

Unusable on ipad.. Doesn't seem to be a way to add more than one account. Not seeing a way to turn off the Federated timeline, and in vertical orientation the local timeline will only float oddly in the middle of the screen. Floating windows are unclear, as you can't interact with windows behind them, but there's no visual indication of this. Crashes immediately after sending a toot, and crashes if you try to change the theme color while on certain views. Disappointed since I'm very down for apps that don't try to mimic twitter's format to the letter, but currently this isn't usable.

Top Mastodon client for iOS. After trying several different Mastodon clients on my iPhone over the past year and change. Mast is by the nicest and most creative. The developer frequently pushes updates and new features. Mast is definitely ahead of the curve in the federated social space.

Buggy and crashy. This is hardly alpha quality software let alone “production” ready. Scrolling through the timeline causes the app to crash. Multi-account support doesn’t work. Viewing another instance’s timeline may or may not cause the app to crash. Pulling down to refresh the timeline may or may not work. Definitely not worth $5. And honestly, adding a “tip the author” feature on top of charging for the app outright seems arrogant.

Great app. This app is GREAT! So many features! The UI is perfect and the different themes are so easy on my eyes. I love how there are so many different settings so I can set it just the way I want. Highly recommend!

Great app, great creator. Mast is one of the most full-featured and actively updated apps around for Mastodon and Pleroma. The creator is responsible and responsive. You really couldn’t ask for anything more! Just buy it already 😁

Best Mastodon App. More features and customizable options. Features not found in other Apps

Great UI & Constantly Updated. This app does wonders replacing the native Mastodon UI. The developer constantly updates it with bug fixes and features. It’s a real treat. Well worth the small price. I love it!

crashes, clunky design. this app definitely has a lot of potential! i love the customization and it has a very light looking interface which is very pleasing to look at. but when it comes to actually using the app.. it’s very clunky and things don’t move very smoothly. it crashes and freezes up often, even on my new ipad pro. very difficult to reply to others and it takes a long time for posts to actually show up on your page after you post. there are many other things i’ve noticed after using it only a handful of times but i can’t remember them off the top of my head, mostly small things that just make the app difficult to use.

Needs Multiple Account Support. This app is beautiful and I use it for my main account. I’d be able to use it for all my accounts if it supported multiple accounts. Hopefully this comes in a future update.

Great app and developer responds to issues quickly. Beautiful app and quick replies from the developer. Extremely glad I paid for it. Going for it to be open sourced in the future.

This is the most beautiful Mastodon mobile experience!. This app is both extremely beautiful and very customizable. It's a joy to use! Definitely worth the extra cost to customize the theme of the app this much. The developer is also extremely responsive to feedback, and pays close attention to every suggestion or bug report. With 2.0, this app has gotten even more amazing!

Such great promise.. would be 5 stars.. I really love this app. Out of all the Mastodon apps I think it’s the best designed and overall most pleasant app to use. The last few updates brought a whole host of bugs for me and it is crashing regularly now. It’s a shame, a really nice app otherwise. Will keep an eye on for future updates!

Great for toggling accounts; UI needs a little cleanup. Great for toggling between accounts on different servers/instances! However, the UI needs a little cleanup. My account buttons cover the "new post" button and "search" button.

App should be free. Mast is a beautiful looking app and the dev is great at designing but that’s where the good stuff ends. This app crashes constantly (I’m on iPhone X) making it near impossible to use. The dev has also hard coded a ban on certain domains which in my opinion defeats the purpose of an ActivityPub client. If I’m only allowed to use instances the dev wants me to I don’t think he should be charging for this.

Best in the store now. With Tootdon shuttered this is now the best app available for accessing Mastodon instances. Made even better the morals of the developer to block known nazi affiliated instances which is why this app is being review bombed by angry fascists. Get the app it's well worth the money if you're not a fascist.

Profile picture & header. This bug has been for along time I can’t tap on my profile picture & my header it’s always crashing & I can’t changing it too

Had to buy to try it out, sorry I did. If you click on an image it takes over your screen and you have to crash out of the app and log back in. No logical way to send a reply toot. So, basically, it's ok to see toots, but no way to interact with people on Mast.

Overpriced and untrustworthy business. It might be a very polished mastodon app for iOS, but no way is it worth $30 or an ongoing $2 per month. Especially once you consider that it was once $5, but then the dev took away features from users that paid and asked for more money. How do you know they won’t do the same thing again after you pay $30? If you don’t pay, the features you get are paltry. Don’t even get notifications. You’re better off using something else that’s free, like Roma.

Ok, but needs some love. This seems to be one of the better macOS apps... but just opens with blank window then you gotta like fiddle with the menu to spawn an actual app... but is nice and clean interface.

Severe flaw. Opening any image from the feed takes over the ENTIRE SCREEN and there is no option to have it open in a separate window; can't turn off the other two columns which is obnoxious. General lack of control in this app is frustrating. Not having a good time. Also seems to crash quite a lot on Catalina.

GREAT JOB ON THE UPDATE. App used to be buggy as hell and unusable, but this most recent update shows a huge improvement. I can finally get toots, and things are working much better in general. Thank you!

My favorite client for Mastodon. Super easy to use. The dark mode helps greatly when reading at night. I use it daily to catch up on news and opinions. Very beautiful user interface and frequent updates.

Another app that went with a subscription model. Will devs ever learn? This app has always been buggy. The first thing I tried doing was updating my bio. The UX is all very wonky and the UI for actually updating a bio is a disaster. This app is definitely not worth a subscription model for features like basic notifications when better options are available. [update] this app requires extra taps to do basic things like bio updates and search. its interface is also unintuitive. however, it hasn't crashed yet. added a star since the app hasn't crashed yet.

Bugs Galore. I want very much to like the iPad version, but it is extremely buggy. Crashes all the time when i press the 3 bar. And the layout is weird with the toots in a narrow left column and a massive lined blank column in the right that seems to do nothing at all. The iPhone version is decent, though.

Smooth and functional.. Came to Mast after the other app I was using stopped updating. Haven’t missed the old app. Also, glad this app developer took a reasonable stand against fascists.

Friendly and comfortable. I’ve used several Mastodon iOS clients, but Mast is more fun and enjoyable to use; it doesn’t feel like work. The animations are features are thoughtful and create delight. It’s my favorite social app right now.

best mastodon app!. this app has so many cool features, it’s definitely worth buying. this is hands down the best mastodon app i’ve ever used. my only suggestion is to make a feature that allows you to search specific key words (not hashtags or users). no other mastodon app has that feature unfortunately. again, awesome app, thank you for all of your hard work!

Lousy App. I was happy to find this app in the App store for Mastodon. After paying and installing I faced a number of problems. 1. Adding a second account seemed to block the search icon. 2. Changes to the account profile never updated in the app. When clearing the cache didn't work, 3. Deleting Accounts b. The process to do this is not intuitive or transparent. When I finally did figure this out it was still buggy. a. I finally found no other option but to delete the accounts to re-add to get the profile updates. Not a great experience overall. I intend to ask for a refund, the app was horrible and when you compare it to free options such as HyperSpace Desktop, The Desk or Whalebird they fall very behind in terms of design and usability.

Much improved over past few months. It's the prettiest, most legible Mastodon/Pleroma client in the App Store. Full support for essential accessibility features such as image captions, and the author's fixed most of the crash bugs that plagued earlier versions.

Pretty good.. I don't usually buy apps but this one had features that I liked so I thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't disappointed. Sure there are a few bugs here and there, but it's obvious the developer is working on them and to me, that's worth a few bucks. Pros: clean, customizable, lists, 3d touch, share, etc. Cons: nothing other then a few UI choices. I don't like where the list menu is placed.

Very visually nice; getting better all the time. It’s truly impressive how quickly the developers have worked through the most important issues this app had in its beginning. It’s very aesthetically pleasing.

Great on iOS, Mac is unusable.. I've liked using Mast on iOS for a while (though I prefer the original before the rewrite), but the macOS version is very broken. It has major UI issues that make it difficult to use, though they do seem fairly easy to resolve.

Great features but very buggy. I love the features this app provides but it’s buggy as hell. Constantly freezes and crashes. My home TL fails to load all the posts half the time or just freezes. I constantly miss posts because of this. It will jump from one day to new constantly. Please fix this because I feel this could be a great app.

Beautiful Mastodon Client. Came from Tootdon to this, and I’m majorly impressed. Very polished and stable. I love the use of haptics as part of the interface as well—very handy. Apple Watch app is a much appreciated addition as well.

Interesting Choices. I liked the columnar presentation here, but I incorrectly assumed I could customize the columns. You cannot. There is also a bit of UI cruft (like a tab bar) in the View Menu and some aspects of great Mac OS apps (like ⌘ comma opening prefs) don't work here.

Horribly buggy. The app opens up to a blank window. If you fiddle about in settings enough you can add an instance, but doing so crashes the app. When it comes back up you may be connected, or need to do it again. Then everything is cut off or has weird borders. This really feels like somebody's first attempt at an app. A real bummer becasue this has potential

Wasted money. This app is pretty useless. The constant crashing would be a bigger problem for me if the app actually displayed *anything* when it *is* open. I’m logged into a valid instance, authorized with no problem, but when I open the app...it’s completely blank. No content whatsoever, other than the menu headers. Spent money on a 100% useless app — very disappointed.

A real pleasure on iOS. Time and time again, Mast has proven itself to be a fun and beautiful client for Mastodon on iOS. Improvements and other goodies always make the experience more solid, and it’s a real joy to use.

New version in app purchases violates customer trust. I really liked the previous version of this app, which was paid. However the features I was happy to pay for are now behind a new in app subscription. I say again: functionality I’ve *already* paid for is now only available behind a subscription. I considered paying for the lifetime sub, but I have no confidence now that I won’t just have to pay again for those same features in a subsequent version.
