This game is so sick!. Love it. It is a thrill! Can be played in very short bursts. Doesn’t require internet access, perfect for playing in airplane mode. And the touch screen controls are impeccable! Very, very responsive. Works great even on the tiny iPhone SE screen. Smooth 60 frames per second framerate never drops! Bullet Hell SHMUP Roguelite with randomized levels. ¡FUN!

Great game!. I wanna know when the soundtrack can be downloaded if it is downloadable at all.

Crashing. App barely begins to start and then crashes every time. Previously had worked well on iPhone 11 Pro. Multiple deletes and reinstalls have failed to fix the issue. Also rebooted the phone for good measure, to no avail.

Game won’t load in. Just downloaded this game and it crashes every time before I can even get in just waisted my money on a game I can’t even play fix the game or give us back our money

Crashes. The game keeps crashing on me and I don’t know what to do with the game. Waste of money. GAME CRASHES for no reason. The developer has to respond to me cause you have to fix this issue. Give me my money back, game keeps on crashing each time.

Awesome. I was waiting for this thing to come out for a while, and when it finally did, It was just as good as I thought!

Still working out some bugs. Great game, I love the VHS-style design, the music, the gameplay, and the boss fights are challenging enough. Some issues: When you beat the game and then play again right after, it takes you back to the final level. No power ups or anything, you start the game over but in the last level. If you beat the final boss again, you get the same cycle. This must be a bug in the game. If you DIE on the last level during this, you go to the “play again” screen but it won’t let you press the button, and you’re just stuck in that screen and have to completely close out the game and reopen to play again. Also, during the ending credits, there is some text that says “press start to skip,” meaning skip the credits. There is no start button tho, and I’ve pressed all over the screen and nothing. You have to watch the credits every time. The game also, rarely, stops firing your guns for no reason and you have to tap all over the screen like an insane person to get it to start up again. Playing on iPhoneX Otherwise a great game. Will give 5 stars when the bugs are ironed out. UPDATE: They have fixed the issue with repeating the last level after beating the game. The other bugs are still present.

I think I pay fair and square and game crash. I update my iPhone yesterday to 14.0 for some reason the game is not compatible every time I open it a crash I uninstall it and install it back I erased my data I don’t think it’s fairI did pay for the license of this game and is not playable. I think will be fair enough for the developers of the game to return the money because it’s not longer playable so please update the game so I can be playable or return the money 💰

Was a 4 star shooter, but devs polished it to 5!. Awesome 80’s synth wave retro style space shooter! I liked it before the update, but now I LOVE it! The devs added a cool intro and much better menu interface, plus the style and gameplay is really awesome! If you like solid polished space shooters and 80’s synth wave style, this is for you!

Gorgeous gameplay. Beautiful 80s neon lights and particle bursts make this game look incredibly impressive on my Xs. Black Paradox is fun, quick, and perfect for any fan of shoot em ups. I’m not sure if there are any additional characters or vehicles in the works, but I’d definitely appreciate some other fun color schemes and starting weapons! Thanks for a great game!

Dead Cells in space!. Amazing presentation. From the VHS intro to the retro synth-rock soundtrack, the vibrant neon color palette, and the butter smooth controls; this shooter is both a throw back to some of the very best side scroller shooters from the past to the present. Some weapons seem “useless” at first, but that just means there’s a steeper learning curve to using them which adds depth to the tried and true weapons variants most shooters use. When I first got the “Music Notes” gun, I was giddy as hell. So much creativity got poured into this. I mean, it’s a flying car in space for god’s sake. I would have liked to see more animated and parallaxed backgrounds, but that is literally not even a gripe, just a wishful observation as there’s so much that can be happening on screen at once, there’d hardly be a moment to appreciate adding more movement. Then there’s the upgrade system. While not original to it’s execution, I’ve never played a rogue-like space shooter, so this to me is innovative in its own right. I love that every time I die, I start over with a chance to add permanent upgrades in exchange for the cash I’ve earned. Is it grindy? Yes, but in the most positive way possible. I’ve started over about a hundred times and have never been frustrated or bored. With the incremental upgrades, it forces you to make choices to either empty your wallet on something that might be useful or have enough levels to it to make a real difference, or to forego and just keep grinding for more cash. Because the enemy patterns are procedural, it never bores me to have to keep restarting. I saved up enough to purchase my two extra chip slots right away! Yeah I sacrificed powering up, but it forced me to rely solely on skill and reaction time in the process, in turn making me a more skilled player even with weaker stats. Just like Dead Cells. But in space. As an old school gamer, this game refreshes the hell out of the genre. Funny how it’s a “Paradox” to have so many modern elements while being a throwback both in theme and gameplay. I can’t recommend this game enough! I could write a whole new paragraph on the soundtrack, but in one word I can sum it up... Amazing. The negative reviews on here seem to come from gamers who didn’t put in enough time to understand its mechanics, or just aren’t fans of this type of game at all. The asking price is not much for what you get here, so if you’re a fan of shooters OR rogue-likes... get Black Paradox... you won’t be disappointed!

Too much dodging not enough shooting. Just feels like I’m only dodging bullets, I would rather be shooting amazing things rather than just being stressed out about a million things hitting me on the screen (most of which I can’t see with my thumb in the way) I gave up after a couple bosses. Wouldn't leave a review unless I had to pay money for it, a solid three stars.

EPIC. You guys did a very good job with the game. The soundtracks are cool and it is tough and addictive. Please add some cool stuff into the game it will make this game more better for everyone. I hope you guys see this review. Keep up the good work.

Good app, but crashed recently.. Tried to open the app, watch the logo, and all of a sudden, it crashed. Sorry for the inconvenience as I’ll never play it anymore because of another bug.

Fun game with annoying behavioral bugs. This is a perfectly designed side scrolling shooter in my mind. I like that even though it’s Rogue-like, you can preserve upgrades to make progressing through the game easier as time goes on. However, I have found that I have to force myself to die in order to get the Garage to display new upgrades for purchase. This means that I find myself purposely dying on the final boss and forfeiting the money I would get from beating him just because if I don’t die, no matter how many times I run through the game, the same upgrades will remain present in the store. Also, it would be nice to have some sort of web site we could reference to determine what each end of level mod does, rather than the obscure description it gives with certain mods/drones/chips after beating a boss. This could also be done in-game with a help/info button. Outside of these two things, the game is exactly what I’ve been looking for and I must give the designers/developers a lot of credit with putting together such a wonderful game. Looking forward to more updates which will hopefully include new levels and boss fights along with the bug fixes mentioned above! (Oh, and new weapons too!) Keep up the great work. 👍

Crash rate. Game crashes at least 3 out of 10 times I play

After updating to ios14. I will not load the game . It try’s to load and goes back to the icon tap from the Home Screen.

Great Game, Devs please read. I used to play this game all the time. About 6 months ago, I played it very often until I won almost every time. Great game, definitely worth the 4 dollars. However, now whenever I open the game, it immediately crashes. Like right away, 100% of the time. I even redownloaded to make sure it wasn’t my phone. So devs, can you help me out? I love this game and want to play it again. I’m on an iPhone 8 btw. Thanks!

Regret Buying. I pre-ordered this game with the intentions that it would update and include new bosses. I remembered when reviewing this game before i purchased it, that it promised updates and their hasn’t been any. i regret buying and i want my money back

Ba du du du daa I’m lovin it. On the App Store there are only a few existing bullet hell games (which I love) and these games are my favorite genre of games. I wish I could play a good bullet hell anywhere and Black Paradox lets me do that. 👍

Great Soundtrack, Great Gameplay. No micro transactions ... worth the money. Great gameplay and upgrading your ship is a fair grind. Procedurally generated environments keep things fresh.

Black Paradox. I think the game needs Skins for the car, a Battle pass, and also an Item shop for a slight improvement! Overall a wonderful game!!

CRASHING. Most of the times when I try to run the app it boots me out when you start seeing the star

Crashes. I’ve had this game for awhile and generally enjoy it. Just went to try and play it for the first time in awhile and it crashes pretty much right away.

My favorite game. Loved this game from when it first launched. I recently purchased the iPhone 12 pro Max and this game never works anymore. As soon as it launches it force-closes. I’ve deleted it and re-installed several times. It’s s*cks because I can no longer play this game at all!!! Help me ??

Black Paradox. I have to apologize for my past review. These developers are awesome. Very awesome. To start-they originally released a FANTASTIC take on the roguelike/shmup genre. It was a full premium experience from the get-go, and they've released a few updates that have just made it better and better, even though they could have just released the 1.0 version and moved on to another game and been just fine. This latest update with the addition of Darkness Mode and a pretty unexpected new boss is FANTASTIC! I would have loved to have gotten the storage in the garage included, but there's so much else that was included here that it's impossible to be even a little bit disappointed. THANK YOU DEVS!!!! If you're looking for a Steredenn-like/roguelike shmup that holds its own alongside the best in the genre, you should DEFINITELY check Black Paradox out.

Incredible and colorful. Super fun side scrolling space shooter. Very colorful and a easy time killer. Addicted to it since I bought it and I love how it randomizes so you are never stuck with the same enemy patterns.

Jerky frame rate hinders what could be a great game. Why does the animation and scrolling feel so choppy even on an iPhone 13 Pro? Is it still running in 30 FPS? This is 2022, please at least update it to 60 FPS if not 120. When compared to older games like Sky Force, Black Paradox just feels too laggy to enjoy. Fluid movement and smooth control are crucial to a hardcore shoot ‘em up. Other than that, the artwork and music are amazing. Just a shame that the frame rate is too jarring for me to play it past the first stage.

Help. Is it possible to recover progress from another phone

Black paradox!!!. This game compared to super hydorah is more fun, more action, the movement is more precise and responsive. It also delivers much better pixel art graphic detail along with the amazing retro music soundtracks which makes this game superb. Let’s not forget to mention that you have health bars in this game which I love also compared to super hydorah which you only 2 hits against you and you’ll die instantly which got frustrating a little (still good game though). 5 stars to this game, a must buy for the price!!!

Doesn’t save my game. When I beat the “insane brothers” and close the app and I play again I have to go against them again even though I beat them

Great Game w/ some Bugs. The game is a lot of fun to play, however I’m finding that in almost every single item drop, I’m either only able to pick up the item on the right side of the screen, or sometimes no item at all. Without picking up item drops you’re basically unable to continue playing your current run because the enemies get way too difficult without upgrades. Please fix this issue so I can pick up items. I’m sitting there tapping the screen and end up dying trying to pick up an item.

Crashes. Game worked great on my iPad about a year ago. Started playing again on iPhone and it crashes. Any update on a fix I tried to use a contact support form but the game is not listed.

Just get Steredenn. This game will make your phone run hotter than the sun. My phone still loses battery life when I’m charging and playing this game! No other app I’ve tried has been able to accomplish that, so congrats? Aside from that, this game is SUPER similar to Steredenn. The enemies, bosses, and level-up system do make this game different from Steredenn, but not enough so that I’ll continue to assault my phone battery by booting this up.

Fun game when I can move. It’s a great game but when you can’t move to dodge bullets it’s not that fun. Every run both sides of the screen are unresponsive and the end result is death. I keep trying because I like the game. Hopefully it’s a bug that can be fixed. Playing on an iphonex. Fix the controls and I’d give it five stars.

Im afriad i wasted good 4 dollars on this game. I heard this game was fun so i downloaded it and played and then i figured out that you get killed so dam much and the pint is that you keep dying and dying like kill loot and repeat i dont like that and theres no new ship you can get so im deepley upset that i may wasted my money

Fantastic game, but.... It needs two straightforward things to be five stars. First, iCloud save support needs to be implemented. I have no interest in grinding and getting better chips on my iPad and iPhone both. One unified save file would be ideal. Second, controller support!! That being said, I love this game and have put hours into it on my phone. You won’t be disappointed, but in my opinion, it needs these few tweaks.

Exactly what the App Store needs. Awesome shooter. Some upgrading which is simple but allows you to customize your style of play. Amazing sound design and catchy graphics that are retro in just the right way. Give. Me. More.

Meh. It’s good but not great in my opinion, I would like to see inclusion of a virtual analog stick and some virtual buttons for the different functions. It might help if you didn’t have to have it in landscape or horizontal direction.

Doesn’t save progress. Is this a bug?? I keep on repeating the game every time i close the app. I had to start over again with the first boss.

Please fix controls. Can you add an auto shoot feature so it’s easier to control the ship with 1 finger to dodge bullets? Other than that great game!

Great Game, Small Fixes. This game is actually incredible. It’s fun and fast paced with an interesting upgrade system. It can be challenging with just the right amount of difficult and enemies. The only thing I’d look to fix is some frame drops!

Not good. I bought this app and as soon as I opened the app it kicked me out right away I even powered my phone off, delete the app and got it again and it keeps happening fix this ASAP this game is not good.

Awesome game, but I want more!. Once you finish it, (especially after the gazillionth time) devs, it would be awesome to actually be able to ‘press start to skip’, ie have a button to do so and go back to the main menu and be rewarded at the garage with the ability to shop for modifications, maybe even different skins or drivers, perhaps some could be unlocked with certain achievements or challenges won, but really to be able to use the cash I have on some cool Stuff; aaand I’d love an endless mode! I love that the game is short enough to play when and wherever, but seriously, some of us (me) want to play it for as long as possible sometimes! Oooh, and what about a tournament or PvP! The possibilities are, truly endless. I feel that it would be a real shame to not explore some of those ideas. I think then I would give it a full 5 stars.

Really good game, but where’s the update?. The game was fully released on steam, where’s the update or full game similar to steam?

Controls don’t feel tight.. There should be a setting that makes the car follow where you’re touching like in shooty skies.

A must-have. I suggest turning on the VHS effect and post production visual effects found in the settings. Amazing job with the visual design, it’s less of a “pixel game” and more of just amazing retro 80s fun. The synth soundtrack that starts as the game throws you in is adrenaline-pumping, as you blast enemies with beautiful looking weapons that each have their own unique ammo. The rogue like aspect is great too, and in more ways than one expands on this with rpg elements. A must buy. For sure.

Needs better thumb control. This game is awesome but I find it difficult to move all over the screen with the thumb control. Please fix or add more control options because it really affects my ability to dodge and move around.

Great Game but lacking updates. This game is great but this version is still behind in comparison to the pc version and it really bums me out. Having a storage for chips is important, more bosses keeps the game fresh, but all that is still not in the iOS version. Would play this game non stop if I could just get those updates.

My progress has been reset. Yesterday when I got to the last boss the game froze in the intro of the boss and now opened the app and all upgrades gone. Back to the beginning.

Not much fun. Erratic difficulty, inconsistent hitbox detection, overall flawed design. There’s multiple other shmups on iOS that do this genre far more justice. The 80s aesthetic is cool, but shallow.
