Nautical Charts & Maps Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Tutorial?. So far so great. So much to learn and info to learn. Is there a tutorial video?

Unpolished. Very poor load times, sections of the maps will flicker in and out chart mode into what looks like Google maps. Regret paying money for the maps.

It’s good but…. It’s good but for some reason you can’t download most maps They have a very small selection for offline use NOAA has them all for free I was just trying to find something to display but this isn’t it Anyways if in service it does seem like it uses raster well

Simple but effective. This is a simple chart display program. No frills. Best that I have seen for changing scale

Fantastic!. Used this app for the first time to enter Vashon Island WA’s Quartermaster Harbor (look it up) at low tide on a no moon, pitch black night. There is no way we would have made it without this app. The marine supply store can keep their $700 gps charting units. I’m good!!

Pretty good for what it is. Was jet skiing in some costal waterways while on vacation and wanted a way to see the navigation charts with gps over lay for periodic location and depth checks. Did well. The one feature that would be nice is to have a find location button to make finding your location when opening the app easier. Otherwise get the intended job done well for a reasonable price.

Great so far. It is handy for planning, needs a key/legend to identify the obstructions and markers etc. I like how after the maps are downloaded it easily transition from area to area. Would recommend it for an additional navigational aid.

Beautiful App, but…. This App provides great charts, however we live in the state of Washington near Canada which also has beautiful waterways that we love to explore, the provided charts Do Not include these needed Canadian waters charts. I’ll be glad to update the star rating to 5 stars if you’ll provide charts for the waterways between Washington and Alaska (the Canadian coastal waters). You have a really good thing going, please make it Great by adding the West Coast Canadian waterway charts!

Rockfish Conservation Area overlay. This is a great app. It has the best charts out there. The developer recently added an overlay with the west coast non trawl rockfish conservation area. He tells me there’s more to come.

Question?. Fine looking map, are charts available for N.E. Oklahoma?

Superb and Cheap. This app makes the best case yet for electronic media satisfying chart carriage requirements. It’s economical, runs in off-line mode and is updated as frequently as NOAA charts are released. The only conceivable additions for me would be an ability to to place markers and something like the Navionics dividers applet for measuring point-to-point distances. But its pretty good as-is. And for the price....

Great maps. Needs to be able to mark location and track routes.. Love the maps and the offline mode. But lacks ability to drop a pin or record my route.

Useful Knowledge. Very useful and great idea for the sailor in all of us or sailor to be vital information

Do not waste your money. I was looking for an app that gave me information on North American lakes. Thinking NOAA was the best of the best, I download the app and wasted money once AGAIN. COMPLETE WAIST OF MONEY.

Missing Maps. I thought with the high ratings the would be an excellent app. After paying the 8.99 I am not happy one bit. It’s missing one major map that I need. Tennessee. We have tons of lakes here and none are covered

Great app. Very handy and helpful on and off the boat. So far it’s perfect for my use when looking for structure for fishing👍

No maps???. I am trying to use it as a nautical chart but it looks more like Apple Maps. Is it because I am abroad? It didn’t exclude anything when I was looking at the app presentation. I think I am doing something wrong and I will change my rating when I figure it out or get assistance. Otherwise I will have to ask for a refund

Very cool app!. If you have phone service, you have a chart plotter. I have been using it to plan a return trip to the Pacific Northwest. I like that you can zoom in for fine details. The weather overlays are good for the San Francisco Bay if you want to see what the wind is doing and it is an easy-to-use program unlike some others.

The BEST Nautical Chart App. Great nautical charts. Loads very fast, especially after the update. Love this company; they are very responsive to my messages.

Terrible for boats under 10ft draft, great for big boats. The maps are wonderful where they work the problem is that there isn’t really any coverage under about 10ft of depth so if you are in a river with sand bars or even a local lake that’s 200ft deep but has some 5ft areas, there’s zero coverage at all. Requested a refund after finding out that some places that are well covered by other apps are 100% missing from this one.

Not the best. You can download charts and scroll around/zoom, but that’s about it. No real interactivity on the chart (being able to click on chart details like channel markers to get expanded details? Nope. Ability to set waypoints in a course? Nope. Ability to measure distance between two arbitrary points? Nope). It’s not bad, it’s just not really useful on the boat.

Not worth it. The first app I’ve ever downloaded where I was charged more than list price. Add to that the fact that the charts are incomplete and you have a waste of time and money. Look elsewhere

Buy this app. Totally worth it. This app is great and hopefully marks the beginning of the end of the 25 year chokehold Garmin and Navionics have held over the boating world. Every American has contributed to the costs of NOAA putting together map databases. And for years the big companies fought to keep the raw data out of the hands of the public. So now it is finally available but predictively difficult to manage downloading and using the RASTER maps. This program does the hard work for you so now you can use all of the NOAA maps for free, forever, for only the cost of this program. It still lacks the ease and functionality of the big players but the app will get better and better as more boaters use it. Really fun for loookingbst digital charts of far away waters without paying extra for more charts. Have fun.

Get it NOW!. If you’re on the fence, jump off and DL this app. It’s better than the description implies. If you have a question about it, email the developer. I did, and got a response within an hour. The app is easily the best $$ you’ll spend today. You will only have to spend it once, no subscription for updates like similar apps. I got this as a backup for my onboard plotter and paper charts.

This Ap Rocks!. Just started using this ap on my IPhone & really like it. Yep, I have GPS chart plotter On the boat but this works it’s just kind of a back up, and today I pulled it out or hiking and island and I had my exact position. Looking at the marina, and has this within 10 feet of the exact position of the boat. Good work!

Good basic tool. Not to be used for navigation but a helpful tool nonetheless

Not the program I was looking for. I was looking for a program for inland lakes Don

Cheap and Easy. No longer a need to carry the fold ups in the boat. For the price of 2 maps, I’ve got the whole coast. Good use of technology. Really appreciate the ability to download the chart for use outside of cell phone range. Good for weekenders like me who can’t flip the $10k for a name brand monitor assembly. Plus - no ads getting in the way of the data. :-) Developer is responsive to inquiries.

Doesn’t cover lakes and inland areas. Was hopeful this would cover lakes and inland areas but it doesn’t. Additionally the user interface could use some work. Not super User friendly.

Excellent content and value for boaters.. Tons of content and ability to download for use offline. Overlay of weather conditions. Thanks.

Simple. Simple chart program. Puts you on a Noaa chart. Lacks tools were accustomed to. Great value though. I’m hoping the developer will add a few tools. I’d gladly pay more if they’d add marks routing and a caliper tool. Keep it simple though. I payed 50 bucks for the original Navionics. Was really happy to do so. Now that they’ve gotten greedy and made it a ridiculous subscription I’m out. This app and its potential are a breath of fresh air.

Unsatisfied. Downloaded the app and southern Bahamas is not available and crashes on iPhone on opening!

Well Designed App. The app does a great job of stitching together the charts as you pan and zoom. Offline mode is essential when you’re offshore. Nice additional features like wind and waves.

Simple and all you need. No subscription. Detailed map. See yourself on it. Offline maps too. What else do you need. Get it.

Too slow to be useful. As I pan around, it’s taking my iPad Pro a really long time to render a particular screen. This slow tile-by-tile rendering of the image repeats every time I zoom or move around on the map. It’s so painful as to render the app unbearable. I tried downloading all of the maps, too (which, as an aside, was a very frustrating exercise ... you should be able to just tap on maps in the list to start the downloads and let them progress concurrently ... the three modals per download meant that I had to sit down in front of the iPad for ~20 minutes to download all of the maps) and that didn’t solve it. This app has plenty of data available, but it’s unwieldy. - - - In the developer response, he says “after downloading the maps, the tiles load instantly.” But downloading multiple maps is a clumsy affair. This should be streamlined, getting rid of all of those modal dialog/alert boxes. So thank you for taking the time to respond, but I’d suggest you revisit this downloading process. It’s really quite cumbersome (esp if you want to download multiple maps).

Just what I was looking for. Nice clean marine navigation app, great support from developer

Not impressed. The map should zoom in to current location , it doesn’t. The overlay disappears if zoomed in too far. You have to manually adjust map when underway or the position indicator goes off the screen. Map DOES NOT reorient to course changes, which makes this app unusable while underway. Very disappointed

Caution. After purchasing the app I was notified that the app isn’t working properly, with no timeline for a fix. That was two weeks ago and still nothing. When I tried to contact the company, I heard nothing back! I guess I’m not surprising though, they did take my money for a product they can’t deliver!

Just maps. No location info or ability to save a location. Should have researched it better before buying. Waste of 9 bucks

Complete Waste. I researched numerous different apps and most had expensive subscriptions. This one was a cheaper one time fee of $9. That enticed me and I went for it. After downloading the app and the charts where I fish (St. Lawrence River, one of the bigger rivers in the US) I basically got a Google Map knock off with hardly any charts. Downloaded it for charts and there’s hardly any depth charts. I’m a tech savvy 29 year old and I’ve spent a half hour on this app and it hasn’t gotten better. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything, it’s just not good. But hey, it could be me. And if it is I’m truly sorry for leaving a crappy review

Great for the price. At first I thought didn’t include inshore NC but you have to zoom. Can be slow to load sometimes, but overall pleased at this price.

Well done. I dig this app. It has yet to crash on me. I use it to periodically check my position while sailing and to research where to go next. It would be nice if it had a speed and course indicator, but I still give it 5 stars.

Charts are updated and good. Needs measurement tool. Need a measurement tool for measuring distance between waypoints. Also need the ability to store waypoints. Charts are great but pretty useless if you cannot log waypoints and measure distance between them

Useless and inadequate. Not a single point of reference or reef location as with other apps. This gives little to no information. Request full refund and high don’t recommend this app for off shore fishing.

Maps no longer available?. After response from supportI was able to download the RNC maps that have not yet been discontinued. Thank you!

Disappointing. So I have a paper chart on my phone, I believe that these are open source charts, so anyone can download them and share them. My problem with the app, isn’t about the money, it’s the fact that you cannot navigate using this app, the interface between the charts and true gps data is very inaccurate, sometimes off by over a half a mile. That makes it dangerous at best. And you can’t really navigate from a digital chart either, because you can’t lay a compass over your phone, so ,,, hmmm, it really needs work. The overland mapping by Gaia is spot on, even in the mountains, to within +- 10 yards, maybe even better.

Great!!. This app is very simple and straightforward and the price is right. I use it for planning fishing trips.

Happy to have it. Makes things easy

No plotting tools!!!. I mistakenly thought that this was a legitimate NOAA product. Turns out it uses NOAA charts but is in no way associated with NOAA. It has absolutely no tools available for plotting routes in advance or tracking while underway. Useless for advance plotting and dead reckoning.

Great App, great support. Nice that you can download charts to use as backup to GPS plotter. I navigate the inside pass between WA and AK, so I have a the security of offline viewing of NOAA charts that I am familiar and comfortable with. Excellent support, developer emails promptly when I had questions. Nice to know someone gives a hoot for customer experience and service, thanks Will.

No Canadian charts. I bought this expecting there would be Canadian charts around Vancouver island but there is not.

No Colorado maps. Was looking for a app that could chart depth for ice fishing. Useless unless you are in the few covered areas. Waste of money sadly.

Average. Averaged

App crashes on download. Unable to download maps. Apps terminates immediately.

Not impress. Not very user friendly.

Doesn’t open. App crashes, doesn’t open

Keeps crashing. This app keeps crashing

Waste. Waste of money. Can’t add routes or waypoints. Useless

Overcharged. The price said 8.99 but I was charged 14.99. After I complained the charge disappeared completely. Will see if it comes later. Developer wrote to say GE does not set price-Apple does.

Sick. So sick!

Couldn’t download any other charts. I couldn’t get it to work on my two year old I pad. Does okay in my location, but other charts wouldn’t download.

Poor Nautical information. All that is shown are water bodies and highway access. No actual waterway data, boat docks, anything.

Dead zone between Washington State and Alaska. Ack. Not much good for PNW boaters.

App crashes upon opening. Fresh download, crashes before it fully launches. Deleted and redone loaded. Same issue. iPhone XS Very disappointed

Not very happy. If your in Oklahoma don’t buy. Major waste of money I can’t figure out anything on Oklahoma.

App crashes on iPad Air iOS 13.3. Can’t say more other than it crashes when I attempt opening.

DOES NOT cover freshwater... Complete waste of money if u want it for fresh water.. doesn’t even show water only a yellow screen

Does not work. I loaded this app and cannot get it to work. Every time I try and open it, it crashes. Waste of money.

Useless. This app is terrible. You loos all charts when you zoom in to see detailed channels and depths. Wast of money

No inland rivers, lakes or springs. Wasted $$$
