1Blocker - Ad Blocker App Description & Overview

What is 1blocker - ad blocker app? 1Blocker lets you block obtrusive ads, sneaky trackers, and annoying elements on sites. With 1Blocker, you’re safe online and nothing will distract you from enjoying sites.

1Blocker is very easy to use — just flip a couple of switches to start blocking ads and trackers. The app will automatically receive cloud updates to the built-in filters silently, so you don’t need to do anything. It’s as simple as setting and forgetting.

1Blocker is a fully native app designed to extend Safari naturally. It’s lightweight and doesn’t drain your battery by taking up your device’s resources.

The blocking itself is super fast because Safari does it itself. We only provide filters to Safari and don’t modify webpages in any way. This vastly improves efficiency because Safari knows in advance what should be blocked. So, with 1Blocker, sites load on average 2-5x faster.

It’s important to note that not all ads can be blocked though. Some sites use techniques that make it impossible for us to block their ads using currently available features for Safari content blockers.

SECURE BY DESIGN

1Blocker is secure and private. It doesn’t have access to webpages and doesn’t track you in any way.

We believe that privacy is not for sale. That's why we don't have an "Acceptable Ads" program. We stay independent, and the only way we make money is through direct sales of 1Blocker in the App Store to you.

ADVANCED CUSTOMIZATION

1Blocker is a highly customizable content blocker, providing the possibility to create powerful custom rules. It allows you to create custom rules that block any URL by providing a regular expression or hide any element by CSS. It also lets you block cookies. (Available in Premium)

AVAILABLE ON ALL DEVICES

1Blocker is available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Your preferences and custom rules are always in sync through iCloud no matter which device you're using.

FEATURED IN THE PRESS

1Blocker has been featured in TechCrunch, Lifehacker, MacStories, Macworld, and many more.

FEATURES AVAILABLE FOR FREE

• The ability to enable one category (for example, Block Trackers only)
• Whitelisting sites right from the Safari extension
• Whitelist synchronization between devices via iCloud

Blocks most google search results. I had the legacy version and was having problems with CNET autoplaying videos. I upgraded to this version and it actually worked to get those videos to stop autoplaying and interrupting my background audio. I was happy until I started noticing that when I did a google search for a product, most of the results were unclickable. They showed a black page saying “the url is blocked by a content blocker”. I whitelisted google and the problem persists. I turned off the Block Trackers rules and it started to load some of the blocked google search results but I just now googled a definition and Meriam-Webster was blocked. The developer states that you can get help on Twitter so I sent him 3 messages and received zero replies in 2 weeks. I don’t recommend this app unless the developer starts being available to help with problems that users may have. Right now, there isn’t much info on the internet for 1Blocker X so users have to rely on the developer for assistance.

Works perfect. Many OTHER ad blockers have fallen into disrepair, not having been updated in ages or at least visibly updated and losing their effectiveness. This one bucks the trend and goes full throttle ad blocking with great configurability such as easy white listing. I only wish that some websites that I visit and enjoy had ads that weren’t so utterly obnoxious that they hijack my Safari with a new page to announce “You’ve own a prize! Click OK!” And then I can’t find my way back because swiping back just loads the ad again. UGH. Well, this blocker effectively stops that crud with the latest policies. I’m sure it is a full time job just keeping that up to date so the app cost is perfectly reasonable. Technically the app is above all the rest since they’ve managed to implement more than 50,000 policies using a modular system. Awesome. Now if only websites realized their ads were so obnoxious that JUST MAYBE less obnoxious ads would result in less ad blocking and more revenue.......

Works great. Such a great app! Been using this for a few years now. It works great in Safari and is kept up to date. Totally worth the premium subscription for that alone. Their firewall also works well and seems more comprehensive than some similar apps and blocks more ads, including most of the ones in a certain fruit company’s news app. If this could block ads in Instagram, that would be awesome but I don’t know if that’s technologically possible. They may be hosted on the same servers as actual content.

Good but AdGuard is better. 1Blocker works and if you like it then stick with it. However, I find it too basic and the UI needs work. Why do I get shown a massive list of rules with look like a big mess to most people? Adding new rules is a complicated process compared to AdGuard. Why do I have to reload the website in another (built in?) browser to be able to pick a custom rule? AdGuard’s process is faster and simpler, and also more precise. The firewall also seems like an after thought just to say they have one to compete with AdGuard and others. Totally zero customization… the biggest being the inability to use a custom DNS server instead of being forced to use cloudflare (iirc). Finally, rules updates are too slow. The internet changes at a fast pace and AdGuard allows the user to manually check for updates just incase. That said, if you want a simple toggle and forget blocker, 1Blocker might be for you… even if the price is what I consider steep for what you get. Cheers.

Just downloaded it and used it and it works well for safari. I’m using the free version and the ad blocker is working great it has other great options you can use but on the free version you can only use one at a time(witch isn’t a problem at all for me)but if it is for you you could upgrade and be able to use all the features at once like(ad blocker, firewall, etc)but I’m good all I need was a free ad blocker app that doesn’t make you have to pay to keep using it. Thank You Very Much to Whoever Created this app I appreciate it a lot making it free.

used to be good. breaks too many websites, have to disable it, which then, whats really the point? chat and messages get broken even though I don't have block widgets or comments turned on. Unable to click on any affiliate link, which sometimes one might want to do (like a link to a sale price of a product), and there's no way to customize this behavior. EDIT / Response: Ok I mean i will try to do that, right now its almost every website i have favorited or I turn it off, which defeats the point. In one example, 1blocker blocked the captcha making it impossible to login, other times by blocking the cookie request popup it then breaks other aspects of the site since their website expects a response to that prompt. I don't know how one resolves these issues, but other browsers like Brave or Arc with built in ad blockers don't have these problems.

Can’t use this with my VPN/has been made useless to me. Believe my device has been taken over by firebaselogging googleapis that most all of my apps are now reporting to and now I can’t use my VPN and 1Blocker at the same time. Probably not 1Blockers fault it was working well until I started seeing all the firebaselogging and firebaseconfig believe they have connected all the pieces for someone to stalk me and who knows where they go from here. Update:developer responded with solution but my network had been taken over and not so sure anything is secure now. 1Blocker seems to working again and I can use VPN and 1Blocker with their solution. Thanks!

Overall great, but the latest update removed features without a subscription. This is the best ad blocker for iOS and macOS, but the latest update switched to a subscription plan, and removed some features for existing paying customers, such as the ability to manually block things it missed on websites. Also it seems to be changing the prices offered, presumably to be manipulative and get people who initially refuse premium to consider it again. It initially offered the 1 year for $10, then later offered it for $5. Combined with the 1 year "free" for existing users, I reluctantly subscribed to that plan. I get the need for recurring revenue, but removing features from existing paying customers with no warning in the release notes isn't cool. I was an enthusiastic supporter of 1Blocker, we'll see if I continue to recommend it to friends after this.

Update: Working Great Now. Update: so there seems to be a gap between settings inside the 1Blocker app and the whitelisting section of the extension inside safari. I discovered today that even though I had removed the whitelisting rules inside the safari extension, those rules were being overridden by a whitelisting setting in the app itself. After removing the toggles inside the app, the blocking resumed as expected. However, the whitelisting settings remained inside the extension. Regardless, I’m satisfied that things are operating as expected. Good work! Sites like Forbes are not cooperating at al. With all blockers turned on and given permissions, Forbes just runs wild with huge banners and pop ups. It’s not the only one. I have never had issues until the last few weeks or so. I got a link from my grandma for an article there and when it loaded I assumed none of the blockers were on or maybe I had it whitelisted and I did have it whitelisted. I turned that off, let Safari process the rules, and reloaded the page. Still no go

Best money spent.. This app allows me, who likes to constantly go to sketchy websites. to get information I need for reports without the worry their tracking me. Even in my sleep it works, it blocked over 200 trackers in 10 minutes. It blocked all that while I was asleep, and after using 1Blocker I’ve noticed my phone running faster and using less power, leading to more battery life. I like how it even works for me when I don’t have service- so even if something’s still tracking me, waiting for service to finally send the data, it can’t. It has a firewall and a free “tracker blocker” just for safari. I highly recommend this and a app called IVerify. Both cost money but choose what’s worth more for you. Honestly, I’d say 1Blocker is. I use 1Blocker way more.

Perfect for what I need. For those having difficulty enabling the content blocking in Settings, you probably have the native content blocking in iOS enabled under the Screen Time section in Settings. Just go to Settings then Screen Time then Content Restrictions, and disable Content Restrictions *there*, under Screen Time. THEN go to Settings>Safari>Content Blockers and now, after you disabled Content Restrictions under Screen Time, you should now be able to ENable the Content Restrictions this app (and any other) provides. It’s counterintuitive yes but that’s just how it works now. Anyway after doing all that, this app works awesome. No more annoying (and arguably pornographic) “Suggested Content” at the bottom of virtually every website! Which is exactly what I was looking to do! Thank you this is such a huge help and now pages load much faster to boot!

Firewall feature doesn’t work with cellular connection. UPDATE: Seems to work flawlessly after the 5.1 update. Thank you for fixing the cellular data not working with firewall bug!! Recently I updated my 13 Pro Max to the new iOS 15.1 and now my cellular connection doesn’t work with firewall feature on. It is super annoying to go back in the app and turn off the feature and not to mention you can’t use the feature that you’re paying for. Updates haven’t come out in a while either. Hope developer fix this issue as soon as possible.

Are there in-app updates anymore?. I’ve been a subscriber to 1Blocker for a few years now, and I’ve noticed that the in-app updates have disappeared. I can’t tell if I have the latest rules or not. I open the app just like before, but the check pop-up no longer shows up. Is the app updating? How do I know? Is there a way to tell? I can’t seem to find one. Please help! *UPDATE* - Thank you for replying to my questions. I now understand why there was a change. I’ve updated my star rating as a result of the developer answering my question and letting me know how the system works now. This is one app I will continue to subscribe to as long as there are ads and trackers that need to be blocked.

Amazing Unique outstanding App!!. This is truly a outstanding app and I truly thank the developers for an amazing system they have put together! I have used the other 1BLOCKER for 2 and a half years and for me have never never had a problem with it. About the time you think the app can’t get any better the developers pull out a better system! You can tell they have put a lot of time in to this new system and I am telling you download it today you will not be sorry!! As they have always said ( This is the only Add Blocker you will ever need! ) Thanks to a great app and a great team who took the time to not only put this together but in a special way for you myself and our family! The Firewall protection is unique and outstanding that’s added even more protection for your family and mine! So one last time Mr. Developer’s I truly truly Tip my Hat to you and say “ Thanks “ 🎩 Really ! “ it’s really a 5 Star ⭐️ App “

I use it across all devices. I can see the trackers being blocked. I wish it knew how to block more. If you have Discord installed on iOS, go to Settings > Privacy > App Privacy Report > App Network Activity > Discord > Show All > Unnamed Domains…and just look at all of those domains. All single domains going to one big data-collection company. Unfortunately I can’t find a way to add these kinds of domains to the firewall feature in 1Blocker but at least I know it’s blocking the big ones. All of that data being happily reported back even when you “Ask App Not to Track”

Well polished and robust content blockers.. 1Blocker for MacOS and iOS: Well polished and robust content blockers. UI: Nice, clean, and pleasant to use. Nice text, nice icons...A big improvement from the last version. Blocking: In my testing blocking is very effective and fast as well. With the ability to create custom rules and have them synch to all your devices is a huge bonus feature. And now with the ability to unlock premium and have weekly cloud rule updates, I could not ask for anything more. Bonus: Very responsive and helpful developers. I had annoying issues with a site that was above my experience as far as creating complex rules. Shortly after reaching out, the devs posted their own custom fix just for me. That is rare these days and I really appreciate it. Go ahead and purchase a subscription or the discounted lifetime option as I did. You will not regret it. I am very pleased with all these new improvements

Paid decent app turned into subscription crippleware. UPDATE: after running into issues following the devs’ reply below, I contacted them directly. Issue hasn’t really been fixed as such but at least most of the functionality CAN be recovered: Go to Settings -> “Premium” even if you do NOT (want to) subscribe -> almost at the bottom, left is a tiny Restore Purchase link -> click & IGNORE PURCHASE ERROR MESSAGE(!): (re)enabling more than one filter should now work anyway. Thanks to Cloud Sync (enabled by default) seems like all my connected devices have then been updated as well. Rating updated now - under the assumption that filter updates will continue to be at least included once in a while with App updates... ====== Original Review ====== I have been a paying supporter since 2015, had no issue paying for the new version in 2018, and would have happily continued with paid upgrades! But as I just installed it on a new device, I find there is no “Restore Purchase” option anywhere, and instead this has been turned into yet another endless-payments “freemium” piece of crippleware! If you want constant payments for constant filter updates (which I’m not interested in), maybe, but disabling existing paid functionality deserves a ZERO Star rating. But the cherry on this {bleep}pie is the unwanted pop-up in my (ex) paid app ASKING ME to give you this review.

Couldn’t Use Safari Without It. I’ve been using this app for I don’t know how long. It’s made using Safari so much easier by blocking the annoying pop ups and ads that take up the small real estate on a phone screen. It’s super easy to block or unblock something, or if a webpage doesn’t load correctly because of the built in rules you can easily whitelist the website so there isn’t any blocking on that site. Above all else I trust them. I highly recommend.

Losing Hope. I've been a loyal premium user from the start but the hide element feature is killing me. It doesnt mirror a website even with all rules off, and also there's no way to toggle existing rules on . Without this I can't reproduce the output I am seeing in Safari; making this feature mostly useless . The developer acknowledged this over two years ago but it's still not addressed; meanwhile this feature is increasingly more important to me what with all the pop-up elements and shading/blocking ad/offer overlay screens being utilized by websites these days. How hard is it to recreate Safari web views in the element viewer? I thought there was only one web engine in iOS. Can you please invest some time on this defunct feature ??

These people are on it. I’ve been using 1Blocker since I got an iPhone. This app always gets updated, devs always answer you either through app or on twitter, and I never feel like it’s left a feature behind. It always does what it says on the tin. When there’s an issue; it gets fixed. Cannot recommend it enough, drop the blockers with weird subscribe to filter list systems, don’t drain your battery for power hungry useless features in the background you’ll never need. The firewall on this works great. Honestly if you think you need more protection than you had better be working for the government, be a spy in a foreign nation, or have a paranoia disorder. (Or live in China)

Works Really Well!. I must say that I have purchased the premium version of 1Blocker after using the trial. It just works. I can’t remember seeing an ad on Safari since installing and using this app. Also, seeing all the trackers in the apps you use is pretty interesting. It does what it says and works very well at it! I also want to note that the customer service of the 1Blocker team is fantastic! I had a small hiccup in my experience and the team reached out to my outreach quickly and completely solved what I was seeing. Very impressed!

Better than Adguard.. Switched over from Adguard when it started to have more issues with site rendering than I would like. Was running into issues with sites not displaying correctly and needing to reload pages. Happy to say that I am not seeing any such issues with 1Blocker, and that it’s also just all around much faster. I also really like the ability to easily block all of the most common adult sites. Will definitely make sure my sister knows about that so that my very young nephews don’t have to accidentally discovery anything that they don’t need to be seeing. Only downside I’ve found so far is that this app isn’t free if you enable all of the features that you’ll want to use. That said, it’s pretty inexpensive all things considered. At least you’re getting a quality app. Free isn’t always worth it. All around a good change I am happy with. So props to the developers. I hope this app stays this fast and effective.

Pros and Cons. This adblocker works very well, and the firewall features blocking app-based tracking also work well. Many trackers were flagged as blocked immediately after activating the firewall. The downside to this extensive tracking is that this app uses a lot of processing power. Both my iPhone X and iPad Pro 10.5” ran significantly hotter while this app was running, and battery life was reduced by several hours. Unfortunately, since I have older devices with healthy but reduced battery capacity already, I can’t accept the trade off with using 1Blocker. Thankfully, this app has a trial period for the subscription features. Obviously newer devices will be less affected by the additional resources used by this app, but it’s clear this app uses a lot of resources. Give the free trial a try.

Works Great!. I recently needed to do some research for a project that required me to visit some very poorly made websites that severed so many ads it made most of them impossible to navigate. This app was able to filter out almost all of them with zero configuration needed, other than enabling it in settings. I’ve used this app on my MacBook for years and embarrassingly just found out it is an iOS app. Highly recommend as a browser extension on both devices to filter out those horrible browser based ads.

The Best Ad Blocker—Period. This is—without a doubt—the best ad blocker for iOS. The rules are insanely customizable, but simply installing and activating 1Blocker will ensure that you don't see ads on iPhone or iPad ever again, which makes it both very simple for *everyone* and very powerful for more advanced users. The developers are also responsive when questions are asked. If you used the first version of 1Blocker (now called "Legacy") and are wondering if you should pay to upgrade to this latest version—do it. It's worth every penny, and I'm really excited about the future of this app.

Wow!! This is great!. I usually don’t rate products, but I just installed the premium version today. I use my phone quite a bit; larger screens drive me batty due to visual issues. I’m sick of advertisements, tracking and the like, despite Apple’s claims that iPhone sorts these things out for us. In my experience and opinion, the phone settings are an utter failure. So far, I am mightily impressed. There are some cool settings that are definitely over my low tech head, but that’s fine (and I’m used to it). That notwithstanding, I’m most grateful to not be bombarded and and harassed and this works very smoothly and quickly. So far, so good, as they say. Thank you!😊

Seems better. Update - a year later and I decided to give this app another try to see if things work any better for me. And they do. Pretty good on my iPhone X running IOS 13 - so far. So I’m updating to 4 stars. We’ll see how things go for a while. Original review - While I’m sure this app does its job, it also breaks lots of sites unless you toggle off the “block trackers” switch - which is one reason why I got the app in the first place. It too frequently destroys the normal browsing experience. So your choice is either to put up with broken sites or cripple this app’s functionality after paying for it. Oh, wait - there’s a third option: use something else. That’s what I did and I’m much happier (except for the money I wasted on this app).

Great app, greatly improved browsing on iPhone.. Great app, it greatly improved my browsing on iPhone and iPad blocking a lot of annoying ads and speeding up browsing. Only problem is with very occasional website like Forbes where contact play, but that from what I’ve read is because Forbes has advanced anti-ad blockers. Otherwise, most websites are covered. Plus it’s simple to use, in the basic form. Another good thing is it lets you create custom rules, which I haven’t used much but it’s nice to know it is there. I also like that it doesn’t have a subscription like some of these scammy, garbage apps on here trying to rip you off monthly— it was a one time purchase. that does not extend the VPN service, but I already have a VPN so I only use the 1Blocker basic app.

Great app, but. Update: after I wrote this, I noticed there was a update for the app. I installed it and it seems to have fixed the issue with the firewall. So giving it 5 stars now! A great app that does exactly what it says. However the firewall is lacking. The firewall is setup as a VPN in settings. It is also set to connect on demand. When it does this, it disconnects from my local WiFi and won’t reconnect until I turn off the firewall. This is annoying and so I don’t like using it. If they could fix that, then this app would be better.

Used to work great. Switched to iOS & Mac, I purchased this blocker out of everything else. It used to block everything. But, more and more as of late I am having issues with ads on youtubes appearing and other streaming sites. It's unfortunate because uBlock Origin works perfectly on chrome, brave, edge etc. I use this for safari sync with my iphone and because safari is the most battery efficient browser on mac. Otherwise, I would recommend just going the uBlock origin route with a chromium based browser. Please, resolve the ads leaking through issue. It was great and I didn't have a complaint a few months ago. But, now nope.

A few early bugs but still the best. I’ve been a 1Blocker “Legacy” user since the beginning and tried several other ad blockers in the meantime but thought 1Blocker was the best and always went back. I upgraded to 1Blocker X to support the developer(s) but have been very happy with the new version. I’ve had problems with a few paywall news sites that I subscribe to but overall I still feel it’s the best. It breaks very few sites and does a good job blocking ads. I am really looking forward to the release of partial whitelisting since I believe it will allow me access to my paywall news sites while still blocking the ads once I’ve logged in.

Removed features from paying customer. I previously purchased the 1 blocker X app and enjoyed it but recently it has moved to a subscription model and removed some key features. Even though the developer addressed multiple complaints my customers saying that all the previous features open to customers who paid for the apps are still available, they are incorrect in this claim. You cannot select multiple categories e.g. ads, trackers, annoyances to block at the same time. It is limited to just one category. One of the features and attractions open to previously paying customers was the ability to block multiple categories. Not a very happy customer. I feel like I wasted money since this app is basically useless now. Will move to a different ad blocking app.

Consistently Great. I’ve been using this since it’s release and the product is great. It does what it advertises to do, balances power features and customization with simplicity and continues to receive quality updates. The speed of new features isn’t rapid, so don’t expect new things every week, but the team updates the lists consistently and is open to user feedback. I recommend this application to everyone I know with iOS. It serves to assist privacy focused families, parents looking to protect their children, and those who just want the darn websites to load already (less ads, which are large in size, to load means faster load times). Keep up the great work

Not Keeping Up with the Times. Back in the day I used to use 1Blocker and it worked very well to stop annoyances and improve webpage performance. That is now no longer the case. 1Blocker does not seem to be able to come up with a reliable way to block the now ubiquitous EU/GDPR cookie notices that does not make pages unusable. On so many pages 1Blocker stops the cookie notice from appearing, but it does not stop the overlay behind it that blocks the page. The user is left with a non-functional page that will not scroll or accept any input. The only was to access it is reload without content blockers and answer the cookie notice question. Cookie notices have become so annoying they’re almost worse than ads, but having 1Blocker break so many webpages is the worst of all. I am moving away from using it and at this point won’t renew my subscription.

Great app; firewall still needs work. I’ve used this app for years to bring browsing peace of mind. Very cool that they’ve now developed a clever way to implement a full on-device firewall! Unfortunately, it’s definitely still deserving of its beta label, for two reasons: (1) it chews through battery life like a starving dog through kibbles when reception is poor (such as in a locker), and (2) having it active makes it impossible to see in iOS Settings how much cellular data each app is using, since it’s all just tallied under 1Blocker. So I’ll probably be disabling it again and waiting for refinement (and deleting Facebook Messenger in the meantime because I trust their network activity as far as I can throw it—which isn’t far, since I can’t really throw radio waves). Keep at it, 1B!

Svelte and works. I’ve been using 1Blocker and now X since its inception. I recently had to setup an iOS device without 1Blocker X and thought it was broken because loading webpages was so slow. And then, I saw all the ads. It was then I realized the problem was not the iPad, not iOS, not my network, but the Internet, where having a webpage with 90% ads and 10% content has become the norm. I finally was able to convince my wife to delete the Facebook app and instead use a browser with an ad blocker, and she’s now got incredible battery life and no longer says “Why are they showing me this crap?” or worse, “How did they know to give me THAT ad? Are they eavesdropping?”

Best Safari Ad-blocker, but 4 months w/no update?. I came from the original 1Blockr and was willing to pay for this new, updated version (legacy blockr gets updates, but it doesn’t work as well as it did a couple years ago). I enjoy a mostly ad-free experience on Safari, but the few ads I do see would likely not be an issue if the developers would UPDATE their app! It’s been 4 MONTHS since the last update, which is entirely too long for a PAID APP, not to mention an Ad-blocking app which needs regular updates of new rules coming out all the time. This is the only reason for my one-star deduction; I don’t have a single app on my phone that hasn’t been updated at least ONCE in the last 4 months, so it’s definitely disappointing to see such a long hiatus for this highly important app.

Round 3 Money Grab!. I bought the original app then apparently it wouldn't work with newer device's. Then wouldn't you know it they came out with a new app that of course you had to repurchase. And now like all the other lunatics of apple-land ( Airmail can you hear me) they want you to pay a subscription. Of course they say if you purchased it nothing will change or its apples fault they haven't told us you have purchased the app before, or it takes up to 15min. Well most developers put but a button right next to some text that says restore purchase......isn't it funny if you pay now it instantly works but if you reinstall there is a issue. 🤣 What a shame, just like A LOT of apps that worked great and I supported I now have to find a new app or just block only trackers, or maybe adds......

wonderful, well made, extremely helpful app!. never leave reviews often, but this app has absolutely nothing to complain about or any negative flaws! you get what you are advertised and it works 100% to your expectations!!! no more random and frustrating redirections when using certain sites… no fear of services obtaining vital data off your device while browsing and using apps… ITS JUST GREAT! fantastic work development team! truly. i see absolutely no reason on why anyone would ever need to look else where for these services when you got it all on lock! if you don’t know wether or not it’s for you yet, they offer a 2 week free trial to help you get a feel of what you may purchase and what they have to offer. beautiful beautiful job guys!❤️

Still Solid But Update Disappoints. Original Review: I’ve found little to no value in upgrading from the legacy version. The interface might actually be worse - they’ve removed the ability to enable/disable specific types of widgets (e.g., allow Twitter but disable other social media widgets) and lumped it all into an “annoyances” category that’s so tedious to customize it’s not worth the trouble. And you can’t whitelist specific features for certain sites, such as allow comments while blocking everything else. If you whitelist a site, you whitelist everything. And there’s still that long delay after you change anything in the settings, although I suspect this isn’t the app’s fault. Update: After around three months of use since upgrading, I’ve deleted the app from my phone. The “upgrade” was such a downgrade in performance and interface that it has made the app unusable. Time to find a new ad blocker.

From getting less effective to becoming useless. The original, 1-star rating (see the review below) is changed to 5. On the latest iDevice running iOS 15.2, the app seems to be quite effective and doesn’t appear to hinder performance. It does work well on some sites and is totally useless on others. Opening the app for it to refresh the “rules” is tedious. If kept refreshed in the background, however, the app drains the battery. Many sites, when being viewed with the Blocker engaged, seem to struggle to still push the commercial and other “social buttons”. In such instances, browsing within such websites is too sluggish.

Works As Advertised Despite Steep Price. I will admit I paid a steep price for the ad blocking app. Compared to others out there on the App Store, this is the most expensive app I purchased specifically for ad blocking purposes. This app works very well and performs as advertised. I would say this app resembles UBlock Origin, the best ad blocking internet extension on PCs and Mac. Two reasons: First, you can hide certain elements of a website you do not like. And second, there are so many filters you can enable on this app. If you're willing to spend a bit more money compared to others, you will not be disappointed. I am using this app on a 10.5'' iPad. Hopefully, this app will get updated regularly. Also and for others wondering, THIS DOES NOT BLOCK ADS IN APPS. You need to use the app called Ad Blocker to enable that.

Great option if you are forced to run enterprise security software. I have been using one of the more popular ad blockers but it wouldn't play well with the enterprise security software that my university requires. I tried 1Blocker and it works very well. What's also excellent is the ease with which you can turn it off for a specific site in MacOS - although I wish the options for the iOS version of the app would be accessible via search bar extensions menu within Safari directly, instead of from the Share menu in Safari.

Worth the upgrade!. I waited a year because I didn’t understand the reason for the upgrade & give them time to ensure a smooth transition. The new version blocks much more than the old. Legacy still works pretty well, but the X version wipes out ads completely (for me, on the news sites I visit daily). If you’ve been waiting, I assure you that it’s more than ready. They went from one list of 50K sites to 8 lists with up to 400K sites blocked. I’m willing to re-purchase every couple of years to pay for the ongoing battle with advertisers. Better than a subscription. Kudos to the developers.

Works great!. Updated review: I initially thought 1Blocker wasn’t blocking the big ad on the Wordle page. The developer quickly replied to my review and my subsequent email and it turned out the problem was me. At some point in the past few years I’d disabled content blockers while using my previous blocker (Purify). The troubleshooting steps provided by the developer got everything working fine. 1Blocker works great and I really appreciate the prompt, personal support so I’m subscribing because that’s definitely worth $1.25/month!

Great Ad Blocker for Safari & Great Customer Support, Too. I'd tried a number of different ad blockers, but none really did the job well or were cumbersome and required too much fiddling around to get them to work dependably. Then I tried 1Blocker and have finally found one that works well consistently and requires little attention. Recently, I had a problem with my subscription. After emailing, I was promptly contacted by 1Blocker's customer support with the problem being quickly and easily resolved.

Quick tip. I usually don’t write reviews but I just felt I needed to quickly write one for this solely based on the fact that it has one feature that is just absolutely amazing. If you use the “block annoyances” feature, it will essentially block all types of annoyances and pop up’s when browsing. The biggest plus to this is that you don’t have to dig into the site settings to sometimes reject the cookies because they will do it for you and they you wont have to worry about sometimes pressing yes because you are too lazy or you did it on accident. This app overall has amazing features and the premium (while I don’t have it) is it a great affordable price for people who don’t really want to spend too much time worrying about privacy and want a one click solution. App deserves much more appreciation.

Consistently the better blocker despite Safari limitation. I am very big on protecting my privacy and eliminating distractions. I have personally evaluated every ad blocker I can find. Many are good, but 1Blocker is consistently the better choice. I resent Apple's attempts to limit what ad blockers and other extensions can do to help a user. However, I admire how 1Blocker works within those limitations to deliver a better browsing experience. I hope that the Hide Element feature gets a little more love. It took me awhile to figure out that to hide an element in the hide interface, I must click the element once to make its background pulse, and then I must click the element AGAIN to actually mark it as the element I want to hide, before clicking Save. If I want to hide multiple elements on a page, I must know to click Save in order to be prompted to hide another element. Perhaps I still don't understand the functionality fully. I'm a stickler for intuitive usability, and I found this a bit frustrating. And, I know this is devilishly difficult, but I would gladly pay an extra sum if there were a way to block Twitter ads. All in all, 1Blocker remains my gold standard for ad blocking on Safari for macOS and Safari for iOS.

Working with support to get it working again. It was excellent for years but I recently started having problems where couldn't access dozens of sites unless I turn it off completely despite setting up exceptions lists for those sites. LL Bean, New York Times, Apple - dozens of sites I log into to buy and do things on have stopped allowing me to log in if 1blocker is turn on as a safari extension. Support reached out to me with some suggestions which I will work through, hoping it really gets it back to normal because 1Blocker has been excellent for years until this started happening.

Incredible Tool for Preventing Ads from Displaying!. 1Blocker is so worthwhile and worth the money! This week so far it has blocked 2,836 trackers, 516 ads, and 90 others. I've gotten good support from the small support and development team. I was told that Apple's software development plan will allow 1Blocker to much more quickly add to the 1Blocker rule base. Filtering out trackers, ads, and others let's me see the HTML pages and videos much quicker and without time spent to carefully move around ads. GREAT APPLICATION! D. McBrien

Features this good should just be built in iOS already. Sorry, I don’t believe in paying for something that should be free with my $1200 iPhone. App is unnecessarily locked down to basically force you to subscribe.

it's probably the best ad-block for safari. It's no uBlock Origin by Raymond Hill which stopped working on Safari 13 and up. Typical of a macOS app, there is a subscription with limited free functionality. I use the free ad-block feature and disable everything else. The ad-block blocks ads which is great.

Literally the first thing I install on a new iPad. Because the internet is unusable for me without it, so spoiled have I become. Thanks, 1Blocker. Update: now with Firewall! 👌🏼

Blocking access to your own webpage/account. I signed into my account on rumble and will not let me read the comments, not just on rumble but in other site as well. Blocking information that you want! I like my refund back please.

Excellent app. Easy to use. Does what it says. Very happy.

Nice update, some downgrades. I had issues bringing over my previous settings and it’s been hard to align the old and new. For example, if I want to see embedded tweets it was simple in the legacy app. Nightmarish in this version. This is a hard problem, but it needs to be easier to identify blockers and what they do.

Face ID broken with Latest Update!!!. After updating to version3.1.1 the app would crash upon launch. Had to delete and reinstall the app to fix the problem, Do not turn on Face ID or the app will crash upon launch, therefore resulting for a reinstall. Other wise a great app all in all. Never mind ver 3.1.2 fix the bug, thanks

Must-have. The internet is unuseable without it. Long time supporter, I've tried a bunch of ad blockers, and this is the one. Worth every penny.

Great blocker. I’ve been using this app long enough, that I’ve forgotten how awful the internet usually looks and behaves. On the odd occasion when I use the internet on a device without a good content blocker like this - it’s hideous. I have no idea how people put up with it.

It’s a great app but I keep needing to buy it again. I had the old version which I paid for which went EOL and stopped being supported. I went and bought the new version which has now been updated with a shiny new subscription model.

Disappointed. A long time user, now uninstalling.. I've been using this extension for at least the last couple of years. It's been unobtrusive and generally a 'nice to have' with the odd occasion where it would cause a page to not behave as expected, but was easily turned off temporarily. The newest update now requires you to pay a premium subscription for any more than one category (e.g. you can block ads or you can block trackers, but unless you pay the subscription you can't do both). This isn't a subscription for new features that weren't available before, this is a subscription for features that were included in the previous version. This isn't a 'need to have' as there are a number of other services out there that offer the same features, some of which are still completely free. So, while the extension does what it says, it has moved to a subscription model with no added benefit to the user. Because of this, I'll now be uninstalling and looking elsewhere.

Best ever. Love this ad blocker it does its job very well. Thanks for stopping those annoying adds etc.

Subscription model is not major update. The developer did a sneaky act recently with a new attempt to get more money by switching it to a subscription model and calling it a major update so people update the app. It has the same features as before but removed the functionality for previous users to free version.

Was having issues with Safari and in app tracking blocker…. But thanks to Shortcuts, I can disable it when I open Safari and enable it again when I close Safari. All my problems are now fixed. Love it, happy to keep paying my subscription.

Love this app so much. So simple to set up and use. I love it. Thank you to the developer

it’s definitely worth it. After issue Website blocking This app is now I can give this up a five star rating after the last update. Very happy with the design and interface thanks

Simple and easy to use. This is a very useful app! I use it mainly to block ads, but there are so many other categories that this blocked can be used for that I would’ve never of thought about. Great app!

Firewall option to turn off for specific app?. I really like 1Blocker, it just works. The firewall concept is amazing however it broke the functionality of a game app I used and because it’s either all on or all off, I have to keep it off, it’s a shame because otherwise the concept is great. If we could turn off the firewall for certain apps it would be perfect!

So far so good. Why didn’t I get this sooner 95% adds gone and that’s just free version ..seriously considering lifetime purchase Thankyou

Works well ok it’s own but better with Premium. It works so well that I wanted more customisation so I ended up buying the Perineum as well. I have trouble restoring the app and the developer was very helpful and the issue with solved in no time. High recommended. Great for the whole family, especially on the kids ipad.

Thank you! 🙌🏼. Bless your soul, you have saved me from the scourge of modern internet! After downloading, it took me literally 15 seconds to be completely set up ⚡️FAST! Relaunched safari and loaded the first site I could think of covered in spammy ads (crappy listicle) and it was crystal clear of all ads!!! It was pure bliss being able to read a list without scrolling through copious ads and closing all the pop ups! Well done, the price was the least I could do for your efforts in making the world a better place! 😇

So much Faster Now!. News sites are massively loaded with ads, many of which are scams. I was getting frustrated by the slow page load and refresh. Immediate vast improvement once 1Blocker was activated. Love it!

Good. While I’m convinced ublock origin and privacy badger are better options, it is 1Blocker that is available on iOS and it does a decent job. The only thing stopping me from paying is the fact that the purchase will be tied to one Apple ID. I use multiple ids and given that Apple is starting to relax the restriction for outside payment platforms and stuff I hope it becomes a reality soon I could use email and password to sign in to the premium version. As an effort to counter account abusing, there could be a limit to the number of devices with 1Blocker actively in use under one account. Just a thought

Excellent Blocker. Been using 1Blocker for more than a year. Very effective at blocking trackers etc.

Great App. Great app, works intuitively and is helpful. I would love an option to block not just facebook's Newsfeed but Marketplace and Video feeds as well.

Largely ineffective. I used to love the great function of 1Blocker to the point i offloaded the others. This app just doesn’t want to work any more. Legitimate sites like foxnews, skynews Australia and lots of others (and there are many) are now not being cleaned up by this app. Ads by Google are invasive (that Google pestilence is like herpes) and there are lots of sites that use Google ad services and similar. Seems to me that this app is not being kept updated, for these commonly used sites are all but unreadable on an iPhone as things stand. I’m a bit over these 1Blocker types of developers who flog subscriptions and then down tools. I can’t support this developer any longer. “Take the money and run” … it’s not right, 1Blocker. It’s just not ok. Not by a long shot.

Great security suite. This is the best piece of security software on IOS. Block in-app trackers keeps switching off after a little while, a fix would be greatly appreciated.

It Works. Just works nicely in the background,, love it thanks!

Easy to understand and use. Having tried most of the ad blocking apps over the years this one shines in my opinion. Its very easy to setup and configure and gives all the options you need to fine tune things if you want to. I wouldn’t be without it.

Broken..... Whilelist stopped working - now blocking whitelisted sites. Deleted and reinstalled and no not working at all. Loads then crashes every time. UPDATE - all fixed now thanks to 1Blocker support.

First thing I install on a new mac. This has been the best money I've ever spent to keep my mac browsing experience clean and free of ads. Sincere gratitude to the devs.

It actually works!!. I have Blocker legacy (and paid for the upgrade) and I did get fed up with adverts still coming through now and then, and entering my magazine puzzles weekly I would be bombarded with ads!!! After hesitating to spend $8 on an another blocker I decided I'll give it a go anyway and it's so much faster and I don't regret it at all!!!! Thanks Blocker Team ☺️

Fantastic. Now I can visit web sites which were driving me mad with their overpowering ads

Fantastic new release. Thanks for creating a whole new app to serve us into the future!!! Works even better than the original 1Blocker app. I love how my customisations get pushed to the cloud and updated on all of my devices. Thanks!

Absolutely indispensible. I have no idea how anyone uses the internet with an adblocker these days.

🐥simply the best!. I went from using a third party browser back to safari, and was amazed at the speed and reliability of this plugin!

Excellent! Worth every penny. I have been using 1Blocker for almost a year now. What an amazingly easy to use app. It’s the internet without all the clutter. I can also block certain sites so I don’t accidentally visit them when they come up in search results. Keep up the amazing work, indie developers rock!

Only adblocker you'll need.. Best adblocker I've used for the iOS. There's no lag or any failure on Safari. Very easy to navigate and love the range of settings to block each things.

Great update to a great app. I have been a long time 1Blocker premium user and was more than willing to support the developer with this new version which looks to have taken a lot of work. It works great, even better than before. Not sure what the 1 star review guy has set wrong but it’s not the app at fault. Surfing the web is just so much more painless with 1Blocker!

Excellent and my apologies. I installed this app, tried it and wrote a review which was quite inaccurate. Thanks for getting back to me. I didn’t realise the app is only for Safari and not for all apps. My mistake. After receiving your response, I tried again on Safari and can confirm it’s simply superb! No ads and other bothersome rubbish cluttering up space. It’s great as a free app, thanks and my sincere apologies again.

In-App tracking prevention. I initially downloaded this app to block ads and learned after about the in-app tracking blocker. This will prevent first party app tracking. You really have no idea of how muck tracking is going on until you turn on the feature and check the logs. The free version will do a great job at blocking ads. The premium features work extremely well and have been worth the money for me. The app is really impressive. If you value your privacy it is worth looking in detail at what this app can do for you.

Good, but check firewall. Solid app, and the safari extensions do their job well. The firewall feature is great, but inexplicably turns off from time to time, meaning I have to keep checking it. Annoying, but not enough to switch.

Adding a subscription?. Why add a subscription model after already making people pay for another app? I would understand adding subscription if you had upgraded the legacy app. I am all for supporting devs, but not when they pull untrustworthy tactics like this.

Doesn’t block Meta servers & Firewall disconnects internet half the time. The concept is good and it blocks ads well but it doesn’t block Meta servers (major reason we’re downloading / paying for it) and the Firewall feature randomly cuts off your internet connection for periods of time unless you disable it.

Its really good. Its a really good ad blocker for ios. You cant realy use adblockers on ipad and iphone and this fixes that. Concusion: its good

Exactly How to Get Rid of Paid Users. Wow, such a novel way to get rid of the old lifetime paid users. Appreciate that! Haha! 1. Update the old app with a new name so that new users will never see the old version + old users ‘won’t’ rate the new version down; 2. Remove lifetime subscriptions and ask paid users to pay again (because they are not lifetime ‘1Blocker’’s subscribers anymore, they are now just ‘Legacy.’ subscribers!!!) Very inspiring method in AppStore, thank you! I’m doing IT courses now, and maybe I could use this method later!

Subscription for paid customers = avoid. New version has subscription model for those that already paid a one time 4.99. Avoid and use AdGuard instead. They will never do what this developer has done on iOS.

Doesn’t always work. Doesn’t always block ads until you pay for it.

annoying. constantly getting the upgrade to the new app alerts in the app (to get the new family sharing features, which i never wanted) and also see the allert the safari plug in. I have clicked the link, over and over, and gone through the upgrade process via mac app store and within safari. Freaking useless app, continues to bug me.. Only option. un install

Good new version. Thanks for fixing the early iCloud bug. Good to have the extra filters. Please reconsider developing a new Mac version! Would pay for it too. Cheers

youtube doesnt work. I know we were told that you were working on a fix for youtube. Its been a couple of weeks now and I cant use youtube on safari with 1blcoker installed. Ive tried diabling but it still doesnt work. Until this is fixed I cant give a 5 star review. Ive been using 1blocker and paying for it for 2 years now on my mac and iphone. Haven been very happy except for this one issue. Pleas fix it asap. Thanks

Absolutely worth it. Great app and awesome customer service. Highly recommend it!

Amazing. Works across devices. Family Sharing! Brilliant

Facebook. Je ne peut pas blocker les publicités sur Facebook, pas fort

Blocked everything so far. So far so good! Blocked everything I threw at it. Will update more as I go.

Works quietly in the background. I’ve not noticed any issues with this app running in the background, unlike some other apps I’ve tried. So far I’m satisfied and recommend. Good job Indy developer!

The best, but can be tricky to use. It's a superb, must-have product for using your Mac online these days, but I'd encourage the developer to continue improving the user experience, it can be tricky to figure out how to use effectively.

Draining My Battery. My battery has been draining like crazy since the latest update. I don’t know what’s going on while running in the background but it’s sucking the juice out of my battery like there’s no tomorrow. Today I had to charge my phone multiple times.

Alright. It made my phone much slower and didn’t block YouTube.com ads

Excellent. It works amazingly, so much control over how it works as well. Kudos

Did nothing. I didn’t block any ads for me anywhere. Did nothing.

Retired, very impressed 👍. 🇨🇦. Peace of mine,

Blocks YouTube ads. Love this app - a must have in my opinon. Ad blocking works well and it blocks YouTube ads if you enable all the extensions it comes with.

Attempts to upsell. I thought I paid for a product with reliable blocking. Now has moved to a subscription model.

Works great. Everything work except for Tubi

Popup. I’m just rating the app to stop the popup.

Too many vague options. Vague options like Annoyances, Comments.

Cannot say enough about this app. Honestly in the course of owning an iPhone you buy a lot of apps. But this is one app that I paid for that is continuously gotten better and better. The developer is always on top of new features always updating and upgrading and no other app has developed in the same way that this app has. Premium was already in no brainer but with the universal family sharing and now being able to block YouTube with extensions this is crazy best money ever spendt.

Doesn't work with youtube ads. Just doesn't work with youtube ads.

Must-have app. This is one of the first apps I install on any new iOS device. Makes surfing the web a pleasure again. Purchasing a lifetime license to support this was a no-brainer. Nice work!

INCREDIBLE!. This is the best ad blocking app I've ever used and I've tried a lot. I've been using this for many years and it's never let me down. Kudos to the developers. Keep up the hard work. Thank you for putting out an amazing app.

Neverending Cash Grab. I bought 1blocker first version. Then I bought 1blockerX. Now you are introducing yet another premium version? When is this going to end??

Brilliant!. Thanks for the firewall folks. What a fabulous feature! Worth every penny and more.

Not effective. Doesn’t work on YouTube.

Really good but can use improvements!. I usually don’t review apps, but I felt like this one was important. This app is amazing. It blocks a wide variety of ads as well as inappropriate sites. Watching movies has become so much easier and less troubling than before. However, lots of people may use this app to stop addictions to porn, or to block inappropriate content from their kids. And while this app does block over 8,000 adult sites automatically (which is an amazing feature that I haven’t seen on other blocking apps.. usually you would have to add websites manually which is tedious and annoying), the fact that you can easily disable the safari filters defeats the purpose of the app. This app would be soo much better if there was an option to input passwords over the different safari filters. Would something like this be possible for the near future? Thanks.

Decent Advertisement Blocker. Cleans up the browsing experience. Does what it’s supposed to do.

It's good, but too aggressive. I really do like this app, it's excellent. It seems to work really well because I haven't had any issues since I've installed it. The only problem I have is that it is too aggressive! It constantly breaks websites, hot links and even prevents some emails from displaying properly; although this depends on whom the sender is. If there was a way the develpers could scale back its "aggressivness", it would be the perfect Ad Blocker on the App Store.

Youtube ads. Looks like latest update (free version) doesn’t work on youtube anymore. Have tried clearing data unsuccessfully

Youtube anti anti adblocker. Is there any way to block the message 'Ad blockers violate YouTube's Terms of Service' on YouTube?

free version. free version doesnt block anything

Very satisfied:). Been using this for a hot minute 10/10

Does not work. New update does not block any ads.

Everyone needs this app. I don't think I could imagine using the internet without adblockers anymore, and this one is outstanding! They do their best to always keep up with new developments, A customer support, and can't remember the last time I saw an ad. One of the apps that you might not know you need, well worth the premium purchase.

Fantastic app. I use this in combination with network blocking for really good setup, great app and great developer.

Decent but doesn’t work on Apple News. Decent but doesn’t work on Apple News and that is what I need to block.

Most effective ad blocker I’ve used. I often forget how many ads people get until I end up on a work computer or helping someone on their device, then I go back to mine grateful for this extension. Even in the free version, it is extremely effective. Bravo!

Broke Youtube. Youtube no longer works with this extension

Best add blocker for iOS and macOS. It's as simple as it sounds. It blocks adds on youtube and it blocks adds on twitter. That's enough for me to make it essential to my everyday computer use.

My Go-To Blocker. I cannot say enough nice comments about this program. I bought it near the beginning and the fact I kept with it is a testament to its functionality. Also, the fact I previously bought the different versions then it is free forever for me.

1blocker. Awesome Adblock we apps get it

No Longer Works For YouTube On macOS. I originally purchased this app for blocking ads on YouTube and it used to work great. However, since the latest update it no longer seems to be working. I've tried re-installing the app and resetting my settings in Safari but to no avail. Hopefully they fix this issue in the future.

YouTube is become a real problem. YouTube ads are running 40 to over five minutes long before video starts to play.

One and only Adblocker I use, excellent support. I’ve been using 1Blocker for a few years now and wouldn’t use anything else. The ease of use, options and support provided by the developer are second to none. On two occasions I’ve reached out to the dev and he’s personally responded and taken time to answer and solve my issues. Couldn’t be happier to continue supporting someone who cares about their customers to that level.

Update:. Thanks for your clarification. Glad you are respecting your customers, appreciate that! It’s very important to us. Wrong way to go: I used to like it, I bought the first 1Blocker and then this one. Now you are asking for some more money? Sorry time to move on , plus Apple is taking away already all the trackers..please give the chance of buying without the rent. I’ll be happy to do it

Does not all it said. It blocks most adds, but not all. Many nagging windows asking not to block adds are shown. Also, it’s supposed to block cookies per site. It die doesn’t work. I got AdGuard Pro, much better.

Stopped working with YouTube. Was working well until this week... 🙁

No longer works on YouTube. I've been a long time 1Blocker user and it works everywhere else, but rarely on YouTube. After one of the last updates, I actually had a few months of no ads on YouTube, but it just stopped working again as of March 7th, 2024. It seems YouTube's algorithm is perpetually too crafty for the people at 1Blocker to figure it out consistently. Additionaly, with this latest loss of ad blocking on YouTube, not only can 1Blocker no longer block ads, YouTube has found a way to force you to watch ads at full length without any way to cancel the ad after 5 seconds as you're usually able to do. The only way to get the cancel ad tab back is to pause 1Blocker completely (the "allow site" function does nothing). Otherwise, you have to sit through 15-30 seconds, to as much as 3 straight minutes of an ad before the video plays. I give 1Blocker 4.5 stars on all other sites, but only 1.5 stars on YouTube. If you don't use YouTube much, this is a very good ad blocker, but for someone like myself who frequents YouTube, this issue has gone from not-so-great to begin with, to even worse. Having to pause 1Blocker every time I want to use YouTube, and then remembering to turn it back on again for other sites is extremely annoying. Let alone having multiple tabs or windows open. Help, 1Blocker! I like your app, but my YouTube experience wtih it has been less than stellar for the last several years I have been using it to say the least. It's only gotten worse.

Changed my life .... I'm a 75+ old man who was constantly "attacked" buy ads for women's clothing stores. Perhaps my unisex first name. I tried telling Google for years and got no where. Told 1Blocker and it all ended. No more frustration with those or any other ads. None!

Same as iOS, minus the Firewall. I look forward to the day the firewall is available on macOS, this will be a great day.

Fantastic but battery. 1Blocker on iOS and macOS have been nothing but stellar. Now having Firewall things are just improving even more. 5,000+ trackers blocked in just a few days since release. Problems however are hiccups in some app loads. Most are fine but it’s really notable and sometimes doesn’t even load Discord.app. Hopefully that can get improved on as my number one uses app time wise. Apollo.app for Reddit is also sluggish in some instances. Not being able to do dual VPN is tough (iOS restrictions) but it’s not the end of the world I can switch back and forth. The issue with 1Blocker since turning on Firewall has been the us usage of 28-34% in background activity battery. Either something is very very wrong or it’s miscalculating. I understand it’s always running but that’s a big drain.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Hands down best blocker. Simple enough, that it does what it’s supposed to do out of the box, so to speak. Flexible enough to do so simple rules for certain sites that need a little special sauce. Complex enough to do the most amazing customizations. Integrates well within the Apple ecosystem (between Macs, iPads and iPhones). And there is no discernible web performance or network performance. I don’t write many reviews, but this one stands out, at the top of ad/tracker blocker utilities.

Signed up for 2 week free trial but .... Initially, after purchasing premium services, I could not access more than the services you get for free. And I did receive a subscription confirmation from Apple for the premium service. The app developers contacted me with a fix that worked after deleting the app, restoring the app, going to Settings>Premium Services and then looking at the small print where there is a link to “restore purchase.” Then things worked as expected. A good app that did not work quite as expected right out of the box.

Hands-down the best ad blocker for iOS. Singificantly improves privacy, aids some sites and apps to load faster, and is easily configurable. Ive tried half a dozen ad blockers and not one has been equally as effective as 1blocker. Excellent work! My only complaint is that the app requires Cell phone access if you wan to use other apps that need cellular data. On the one hand, it can be a nuisance to flip it on and off, on the other it can serve as a guard against apps using your cellular data unexpectedly.

Firewall randomly blocks all internet access on network switch. Would be five stars, but when I get home and get on my Wi-Fi the firewall decides I don’t need the internet anymore and just blocks all connections for some strange reason. Switching it off and on works, but figuring out that that was the problem in the first place was a nightmare. This has apparently been a known bug on iOS 15, but it’s been months now and no fix.

Confused by contradicting sales pitch. I’ve used 1Blocker off and on since the legacy days and it’s currently my active blocker (14.5.1) but something keep bothering about this firewall update. For awhile the two best blockers to download was AdguardPro and this. During that time 1Blocker threw shade on the act of using local VPNs as a technique to block ads & trackers, mentioning they are privacy/security concerns (clearly talking about the competition). And now they’ve implemented a local vpn and seemingly had a miraculous change of heart. Without even acknowledging this 180° in philosophy (and the reasoning why they did it) is super annoying at best and suspiciously shady at worst. 😐

DNS leaks. I have used 1Blocker for many years and it’s great. I recently activated the new firewall function. I run a linksys WRT3200ACM wireless router. Express vpn is running on the router, so traffic from/to all devices at my location sit behind the VPN. I was noticing DNS leaks from my devices, which shouldn’t be happening with a vpn running. Tracked it down to the 1Blocker firewall. Turn off the firewall and the DNS leaks vanish. So I am hoping 1Blocker has a fix for this because I would love to turn your firewall back on. It’s a great feature that I will not use unless there is a fix. Thanks.

Refreshing. Despite being a utility app that is more often unseen in the background than actively used, the developer has managed to make everything here a true delight. In a way, I’m reminded of the early days of iPhone OS when software found ways to surprise and engage in unusual ways. There is so much attention paid to detail, from animation design, to iOS integrations, to the “What’s New” descriptions. It’s refreshing. I’ll be sticking with 1Blocker for a long time to come.

Not enough control. Lasted about three days of the free trial before I cancelled. This is one of the many apps where the developer doesn't understand that a user may want to disable iCloud or have different settings on each devices. I turn iCloud sync off, reinstall the app, and iCloud is back on pulling in settings I don't want on that particular device. I know apple is pushing for the seamless experience, but there is a fine line between seamless and loss of control. Give me the option before writing to my cloud account then not being able to delete the data / settings that are there once it's written.

Worked but hard to understand features. It worked for the most part. Made browser faster. However it broke some web forms on legit sites. I don’t know which of the feature sliders to use to fix the problem. So I uninstalled. Customer service responded with some tips which did help me fix web forms. Giving them full stars back.

An update not ready for prime time?. Original app was great and my fav blocker. This update looks nice, but doesn’t seem fully baked. Maybe rushed by dev. Disappointing. A month after release, website’s not updated to even mention the new X version and there’s no support info for it. Not clear how the thousands of blocking rules are updated. My old custom rules came across through cloud sync, but your can’t edit them, only enable or delete. And that UI is horribly unintuitive—a step back from original version. The promised ability to whitelist only certain categories is not here.

Quick customer service!. I’ve use this app for many years and have always loved it. I decided to try to my Vision Pro, but for some reason was unable to enable ad blocking even though all of the other features worked. I reached out to Support, and only a few hours later received a message from Alex who immediately knew what the problem was and resolved it. I will continue to support this app.

Awesome!. So many sits had become ... unusable. This makes them and the rest of the internet usable again. So awesome. If a company has both a website and an app with ads in it, I usually use the website because with 1Blocker the website is a much cleaner and more enjoyable experience. Don’t hesitate. I’ve tried many and 1Blocker is not only the best I’ve experienced, it is fantastic. Buy the lifetime and enjoy the internet like never before!

Excellent tech support. I paid for the annual Premium subscription and after about the months the app determined on its own one day that I didn’t have it which locked me out of the important features. I was angry! So I sent a nasty message to 1Blocker tech support. It took them a few days to respond but then they fixed the issue on their server and I had my premium subscription restored. Happy now.

It doesn’t get getter than this. 120k+ scripts and ads blocked, and very configurable. It really is the only blocker you need, and you can easily whitelist or blacklist straight from the share sheet inside of Safari. Fantastic app, I wouldn’t browse without it. Btw, if you care (I do) the devs are self funded and don’t collect user data or sell whitelisting to ad providers. Legit. My only recommendation is the ability to whitelist specific parts of a site but not everything (like comments). Not sure if the API even allows for this, though.

Element hiding is bad. Element hiding opens a new instance of Safari to select elements. The problem is that I need to be able to log into some sites before I can select the proper elements. Why can’t this be done with the current Safari instance like AdGuard can? Poor design. It’s like it wasn’t tested in real world. Edit: UI fixed to allow disable of element picker in the 1Blocker Safari. Thank you. Would be nice if the element blocker loaded the site with the filters enabled so I can debug which other elements need blocking. That would make it 5 stars for me.

Excellent safety customization. As a person active in computer security, I can honestly say this tool and subscription are worth your money and efffot to learn. The learning curve is easy and the ability to customize your experience on the web (related to security, privacy, and advertisement viewing/tracking) is outstadingly simple to use. This is a must have tool!

Firewall feature prevents logging into insurance app. Updated: now the issue is resolved when I use HTTPS filtering mode, although idk why lol When firewall is enabled, which is a great feature at blocking in-app trackers, unfortunately it causes my State Farm Drive Safe & Save app to not be able to communicate with its servers. Hopefully there is a way to whitelist apps, although I don’t think it would be possible without Apple opening up some APIs…

Intuitive and effective with great support. I have been using roadblock for a while, and then came across 1Blocker. It’s amazing how well it works is extremely simple to use, and when I had a particular social media element that wasn’t getting blocked, I contacted the developer and he sent me a custom script, which installed automatically into the app and worked perfectly Highly recommended, and this is the only one you’re going to need.

I can't stand using the web without 1Blocker. What can I say? Browsing the "full fat" internet without an ad blocker is miserable. 1Blocker is such a good app and will support your whole family with the Family Sharing premium subscription. It syncs custom rules across my devices, meaning I can whitelist my employer's websites in one step. The built in VPN for blocking app ads (outside Safari) is amazing, and my wife swears by it. She even has a shortcut automation that enables the ad blocking VPN when she launches a free-to-play game that she hates the ads for. I love supporting good software, and until those apps decide to let people pay for development instead of being the product being sold (to advertizers), then 1Blocker gets my money instead. When I setup a new device, 1Blocker is one of the first things I install.

Really hard to read. I know that light text on a black background has become popular, even though it reduces readability (only for those that are able to read). The combo of my fading eyesight and the reverse text is a real handicap. I don't see an option to turn that off (as with most other apps, and OSs where there is an option for using so-called Dark Mode, or not). Fortunately, I rarely need to actually look at the interface, but still considering removing it--even thought the blocking seems to mostly work.

Fantastic!. Pros: -Fantastic UI -Huge Safari Block-List -New Firewall Feature -Offers 1-Time purchase (I hate subscriptions) -Regular Updates -Family Sharing Cons: - Not Open-Source or peer-reviewed (requires significant trust if using firewall feature) - Firewall Feature limited (no used-defined blocklist & no additional data on blocked scripts) Conclusion: I would absolutely love it if this team would open-source their software and submit it for a peer review. That would provide them with wider support from the privacy community at large, and reduce the trust required from the user regarding the firewall feature. Additionally, I’d love to see some user configurable block-lists for the firewall. This would drastically increase its functionality. Otherwise, this seems like a nearly perfect app!

Invaluable, makes browsing so much better!. Tried the free version for a bit, which was great. Then upgraded to the paid version. Well worth it! Browsing is so much cleaner and faster now. The dev even helped with a script to block something that I specifically wanted removed. In this day and age of websites becoming so bad with ads, tracking and other crap this app helps to just read what you want.

Double Jeopardy. Updated from Legacy to X on my iPad. Paid my $4.99. Then went to upgrade the app on my iPhone, expecting to be able to download with no further payment, but it wants another $4.99 for the phone. What goes? (P.S. It would be nice if customers could contact you with email or a fill-in webpage. Lots of us have no desire to join the Twitter world.) Only going down to four stars due to the payment issue; otherwise, the app is a five. I would end up at $15 as I have two iPads and the phone.

Respect to the Dev. While Apple pushes for subscription models I respect the dev for handling it with the lowest amount of friction. It's not necessary to subscribe to Premium since the app will still be updated, just with less frequent rule updates. I decided to pay though because of this and the nice grandfathering rates. This is my go-to ad blocker and I support it with a lifetime subscription. Thank you for showing other apps how to be graceful with subscriptions.

Battery savior. Crazy the difference this app makes in battery life. It is set up as Safari extensions so the actual app uses very very little battery (less than 1% of daily usage) and my Safari battery consumption is literally almost cut in half. Wouldn’t recommend any other ad blocker as they are independent apps that constantly run rather than safari extensions.

One website won’t quit with the ads. This app actually works pretty great. However, it seems it’s stopped working for one website in particular, which is Picrew. I have no idea why, but when I use that website it completely ignores the adblockers. I’d like to kindly ask if something could be figured out about that - maybe another website could be the same way, and that could get fixed too, who knows.

Used to be great. I loved 1Blocker. All the customizable settings, synced to every device using iCloud, and the ability to write custom rules! However, I noticed that over time, as my devices aged, performance degraded. I tried running Firefox on macOS without plugins and was shocked at the difference. When I switched to Safari and disabled 1blocker, I got similar performance. The problem for me was 1Blocker. Then the developer earlier this year decided to start gating custom rules behind a subscription. I understand they need to make money, but when I went to edit my existing rules, the app asked me to pay. It also wouldn’t let me re-enable the rule after I toggled it. And then I saw a notice on the app: “your device is using an ad list from June 2022. Pay us to get ad list updates.” No. There are Adblock list publicly available on the internet, and other blockers that can stay updated. I switched to Wipr. There’s no configuration settings, but I donated $2/mo to them for not behaving in such a greedy way.

All time winner. I’ve used it in the past and will highly recommend it. It gets the job done. If you. Don’t know how to use most of the settings in the premium version which I will gladly pay again and again just watch the videos and the content they offer. Super user friendly as most of the applications on the iOS are. But if you are concern about IP leaks use this app for better privacy policies in your devices.

Not blocking some sites. I have sent two emails stating that your app doesn’t block any ads from 9to5mac and their other sisters sites. I have not received any response from you. It used to block ads a few months ago. Maybe the owner of the site paid some $$$ to disable ad blocking. The main “feature” of the subscription is that they can update the rules frequently... that’s obviously not the case. I will not pay any subscription once my free trial ends.

Necessary App for iOS and iPadOS. Unfortunately, apps like 1Blocker are necessary now for anyone who wants to surf the Internet with less obnoxious advertisements and EVIL trackers. If you want to fight the big companies selling YOUR data, it starts with installing this app. The premium version is the way you do this, so you do have to ‘pay to play.’ Don’t forget, this is just one of the steps needed to manage your privacy; there are other settings/apps/services to consider too.

Best ad blocker, by far. I've tried every ad blocker I could find, and 1Blocker is, by far, the best one I've used. It's unobtrusive, doesn't consume a lot of system resources (I'm running it on a 2012 Macbook Air without a problem) and it works so well you'll forget it's there. That is, until you use someone else's Mac and see just what the rest of the world has to tolerate. 1Blocker is well worth the few dollar investment - hands down.

An Excellent Accessibility Tool, Too!. I am dyslexic, and have enough trouble processing text as it is. Ads are nothing but extremely disruptive visual clutter; reading around them is frustrating and mentally exhausting. 1Blocker transforms any webpage into a quiet, spacious visual field. Every block of clean, quite screen represents one less ad; and the accumulative effect is mind blowing—but in a good way. As Apple steps up its accessibility game, I hope apps like 1Blocker and their developers are recognized as true partners.

♦️ TO DEVELOPER or whoever can answer. Can someone PLEASE tell me if it will block... ▪️Ads in Games, any or all of them, especially those that flash at the bottom of the screen—their sole intention being to distract while making them impossible to ignore; and... ▪️ AdChoices? ▪️ I just purchased 1Blocker X f— (I've never had the other versions.) I have 2 more questions..., [1] will my $4.99 let me sync with my iPad Mini2 and my MacBook Air 13”, or am I going to have to pay again to install on each of my other 2 devices? I usually use my iPhone SE, where it's currently Oh PLEASE tell me it's not the latter??!! [2] I have a couple free ad blockers on my SE—Do I have to delete them before using 1Blocker? If so, I have so many pages of apps—what if I can't find them (especially since I can't remember their names!? does it matter that I've alreadyI bought it on SE or will it have to delete and reinstall Thanks!

New “1Blocker Scripts” feature has side effects. I like a lot of this utility. I thought I’d like the new firewall-like feature to block scripts. Unfortunately, there are costs to this, the main one for me being that it defeats the cmd-click in Google search results to open a hit in a new tab. I was to the point of dropping Google as my default search engine and using Ecosia, but the rich results using Google were a high price (for me at least). Then I discovered that turning off the new scripts feature solved the problem. Makes me wonder about QA competency at 1Blocker.

Best App and I have tried many others. I have been a Premium Subscriber for years now and I have to say I really like it and I love the fact that the developer answeres any questions or issues directly and fast. The app is easy to setup and use and if you need more there is more you can tweak and adjust. Overall having tried many other Apps I keep coming back to 1Blocker and it is here to stay and one of my first installs on any new system.

Simple & Effective!. This app is a perfect combination of simplicity and effectiveness. Activate the built-in rules simultaneously with the supplied VPN and you’ve eliminated nearly everything that makes Internet use annoying and insecure. A log will show you the thousands of times a month it helped you. Everyone can easily allow modify rules for apps and websites that require it. The steps are visually obvious. If you need help, then everything is clearly explained in the frequently updated Help file. Power users can easily customize the rules to suit their unique and highly specific interests (e.g., only allow advertisements written in German) or write their own rules. The developer continually improves the rules to keep the app effective.

Works great!!. Time will tell how good this app is, but so far I’m extremely pleased with it. Some sites I regularly visit have over time, gotten worse and WORSE with popups and automatic redirects to the point that they’re completely unusable. This has thus far eliminated all of it! You have to get the premium subscription! The free base level version will not work, at least for me it didn’t block anything I was encountering.

Solid Adblocking, Obtuse Firewall. Unfortunately the Firewall feature is somewhat abysmal. I love the concept, but the implementation requires users to toggle it again and again in order to get basic functionality out of the apps that it restricts — wasting precious taps and cumulative minutes of my day. Disable, and it’s still a strong content blocker but hardly the 1App antidote to tracking that it claims to be. The Adblocking and general transparency of the app are refreshing, and the ability to add custom filters along with white-listed sites adds a lot of flexibility.

Keeps the web clean and readable. Make the mistake of trying to read an article on a modern website and you’ll realize why content blockers are absolutely necessary these days. There’s no excuse for auto-playing videos that move around the page as you scroll, and modal windows nagging you about settings and cookies and the number of free views you have remaining. Block it all.* *I happily “allow list” sites that use small text ads in the sidebar.

Works. Downloaded an ad blocker so that I can read my manga online without having to deal with the stupid ads. downloaded three different ad blockers that didn’t work. downloaded this app blocker. Was easy to set up,easy to understand ,and easy to use. By far one of the best apps for ad blocker. you bet I will tell a coworker, a family member, and friends about this ad blocker.

Good. I'm glad they decided to usher in older customers who Paid for the premium product, this is very consumer friendly and greater increases my likelihood I will purchase the subscription at the end of the 1 year trial. The blocker is exhaustive and authoritative, it is very easy to install and immediately begins blocking the ads. Additionally, the APP also is very customizable and intuitive, I highly recommended that you skip the others and purchase this APP it's far superior then the others. 5 stars!

Signed up for lifetime. In my opinion subscription is unavoidable if you want the developers to stay in business. I paid for legacy, 1blocker x, and just paid for the lifetime option. Something has to pay for the cloud based updates. This product has always worked well for me, so hopefully the Lifetime option means what it implies. On the other hand, they might repeat what they initially did and spawn a new product entirely making this Lifetime option useless (i.e legacy to blocker x).

Couldnt be happier.. I downloaded 1Blocker some time ago and the QoL improvement has been immeasurable. Mobile browsing is so mich better than being on a PC. 1Blocker increases browsing speed and keeps annoying full page ads that take over your screen out, among other benefits. I was a Chrome for iOS user but Safari with 1Blocker is the superior experience. This is among the best money I have ever spent, and frankly its a pittance for the value.

Works OK, Poor Mac app. Blocking works OK, but the Mac app for editing rules is terrible. Design/layout is poor. Basic app behaviours are just missing. Click the button to add a rule and input cursor is not automatically activated on input field. There seems to be no easy way to delete a custom rule. You have to Edit, then delete. Why not allow deleting from the list itself. Hide Elements function uses a separate browser window to find elements, and it does not show sites in the same way as Safari, making it difficult/useless

Adult content blocker needs improvement. Seems to do a great job with blocking trackers and ads. The VPN feature is also nice to have. If you are serious about your privacy, they have a lifetime access deal which I recommend. HOWEVER, my main reason for downloading and biggest complaint is the adult content blocker. This does a decent job for most common sites, however, if you really want to you can easily find stuff by simply scrolling down a few pages.

No longer works. Paid for a lifetime subscription and now two years later I’m deleting it off all my devices. Scripts no longer work switches are useless it’s either full on or completely off. Doesn’t matter what I have under the allow list. And the blocked ads under the firewall, you should have a option to swipe and white list as needed. 1Blocker on Mac safari? Good luck it’ll slow safari down to a complete halt in about 5 minutes. The app really no longer works the engineers either can’t keep up with safari updates or Apple is making it impossible to use ad blockers either way this app should be retired. Long time user sadly, deleting this app for good

Outstanding. This is the type of app you don't notice. You don't interact with it often. You can set it once and forget about it. I write software for a living. The best UX is one where the software is never in the way. 1Blocker offers a myriad of features, with fantastic stability. It's been with me since it came out. You cannot have an Apple device without it. I put this up there with 1Password. Awesome work folks. Truly.

Absolute best. I've had 1Blocker for quite awhile and am an absolute idiot about computer details. BUT I can say that I've had fantastic results with 1Blocker. 1. It does a marvelous job of screening all the c--p I used to get in email, etc., and 2. When I've been unable to "allow" a website for some reason, I've emailed customer support and gotten fast and helpful replies 100% of the time. Annual fee is well worth it to me.
