BEST APP I HAVE. I got this expecting a sort of Pokémon go type app but when I started it was awesome and better than I expected. Who ever reads this and doesn’t have this app... get it now

Doesn’t work for ipads older than 2017. Ok, so I don’t have a brand new ipad. But, my ipad air 2 gets the job done. While I don’t expect to be able to take advantage of the AR aspect of this app, I would be able to watch launches live, EXCEPT THAT WHILE THE LIVE LAUNCH VIDEO IS PLAYING THE APP KEEPS GIVING ME AN ERROR MESSAGE ABOUT CALIBRATING MY CAMERA. If I could turn off the camera function of this app, I would love this app. It gives me prompt notification of pending launches and allows me to view the launch video live. BUT THE CAMERA ERROR POPUP EVERY 5 SECONDS MAKES WATCHING LIVE LAUNCH VIDEOS IMPOSSIBLE. Please give us a way to disable the camera so that those of us with older ipads can us the app to watch live launches.

Need a fix. It might just be my phone, but when I try to make my own spaceship, the screen turns black. Also there is no options to allow camera in app.

Fun enough. This AR app is pleasant enough and educational. It’s too bad the engineers who wrote the script didn’t know how to spell the possessive form of “its,” but such a pedantic quibble shouldn’t distract from positive experience. I wonder how the app was authored (did they use Unity, ARKit, or some other framework?), and if there was some unexploited opportunity for spatial sound. Tx to USA Today, NASA, the ISS, and whomever.

Great app shows what happens in an easy to understand app.. I am excited to show my 7 year old daughter this app so she can grasp how a rocket launch occurs and see actual history be made as well

Great Rocket Live Launch from Florida. Really fine app! The only problem was it was about a minute behind true launch time Great info and pre-launch video and second by second narrative! Loved it.

Why abandon this app?. Hello, developers so I loved this app for alerts on rocket launches but I few years ago the app stopped working and not giving me any more alerts it just kept saying “launches coming soon” and still to this day it’s like that and this app haven’t been updated 1y ago why did you guys abandon this very good app? I hope the developers will come back for more updates and fixes but for now I can’t really use this app 😢

Not bad!. The audio track faded a little quickly in parts but otherwise the F9 AR experience was seamless on an iPhone X. One moan (and I’ve noticed it in another app) and that is I prefer to hold my phone with the volume buttons and notch to the top and right: that is upside down for this app and it doesn’t autorotate. Annoying. I want the camera at the lower right (as looking at the screen) not top top left.

Great concept, needs a ‘small’ fix. The app looks great outside but on iPod it doesn’t request camera access. This is probably the only thing that needs to change before I can use it, so an update fixing that would be much appreciated

Not recommended for enthusiasts.. Besides being on time, having a small on the upper right corner and audio, this app is useless. The AR doesn’t doesn’t work, everything is pixelated and unless you’re in the middle of a launch, there’s nothing to do. I wanted to like this but it doesn’t meet the basic requirements of functionality on an app. I have no idea what team of people approved this but it’s pitiful. If anything, this ruined my rocket experience. Points for trying?

Amazing just one thing... This app is Amazing with the alert of space launches I just watched one on July 29, 2018 at 5:00 in the morning XD early but idc and the simulation is really cool and teaches you some stuff NO SPOILERS YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD but I love this app sooo much exept its a little glitchy so if you fix that this app is Perfect!

Perfect timing!. I’m doing a research and presentation project for my physics class on Spacex in a few weeks and have been looking for something that will teach and involve the rest of my class and this is perfect. Shows and explains each step before and during launches! Can’t wait to explore this apps uses and functionality even more in the future. 👍

Not Live “Live” Coverage of Launch. The app is great in many way except two: 1) the “Live” launch broadcast is time-delayed about 15-30 seconds which really causes disappointment when you go outside at T-minus 5 seconds only to find that the shot has already cleared the trees and is on its way; and 2) the app doesn’t appear to have the juice to handle volume. So, it works fluidly right up until launch and then slows, freezes and repeats as soon as the launch sequence begins in earnest. Needs more bandwidth perhaps..??? Still, it’s an awesome concept. Just wish it was a bit better and that it would clarify that it is not actually a live broadcast but rather a live tape-delayed broadcast.

Awesome. A bit glitchy when coming up close ! Try to fix that

Not worth your time. I have tried twice now to no avail to watch a launch live. All the app did was tell me there was a live launch about to begin in ##.##.## and that was it all the way up to and into the launch. What’s the point? Even the local news has better coverage than this app does. Nice thought but obviously you need some cooperation with the launching authority to actually get something worth showing. I suggest getting some real coders to get this app working as promised as well.

Really cool!. As a child of the 60’s & early 70’s, I grew up with Mercury and Apollo. If this app and related technologies had existed and were widely distributed in schools, there is no way to know how far along we would be in our exploration of space. I believe we would be much farther than we are now.

Solid learning tool. I am impressed with the quality of the AR experience. I look forward to sharing it with thousands of students!!!

That was awesome. Just watched my first live launch in AR...and I am impressed. Yes the timing is a little off (~2-5 secs) and the graphics could be improved but this is one of the best examples of the potential of AR. I just watched a rocket launch into space in my living room on a handheld computer...could you have ever guessed you would be able to do that 10 years ago. Magic.

Great app; the augmented reality is an excellent touch.. If you haven’t tried augmented reality, download this and follow long as you have a simulated rocket takeoff from your kitchen table or some other flat surface in your home.

This is amazing. This app is the reason I am going to school to become an aerospace engineer. Thank you to the team who put this together. It’s inspired me to shoot for the stars and do great things.

Fun app but I had the wrong surface. Very cool but I had a hard time figuring out how high to hold the camera from the horizontal surface. I suggest if you are short using something shorter than a kitchen table. Make sure you have about a 2’ square surface. Looking forward to seeing more.

Good. While this goes through virtual building and launch sequences, the depiction is small and the graphics are not very realistic. I will use it to teach my grandson about space and lunch vehicles but I’m hoping for improvements in later updates. Still good but I’m expecting more in the future.

Loved it. Never seen some app like this that takes you through the whole process of the rocket from preparation to launch and landing. Just amazing!

Very awesome!. Although it’s an innovative application, I wish there was a way to not have to leave the app just to connect to Florida Now’s website. Importing the schedules and other information such as an RSS feed could greatly improve it. It would also be amazing if there were a way to view past launches in AR (sadly, yes, even the Challenger incident) with the recorded audio feed from Mission Control. This is a huge opportunity to go all out and put science in the hands of millions where it should be :)

Does nothing for me. Not clear exactly what this app is supposed to do; I hoped it would allow me to watch video of SpaceX launches, but the “instructions” are rather vague—frankly, I haven’t gotten it to display anything remotely of interest; no video, no still photos, no nothing. Only good thing about it: it was free, so when I delete it I won’t have lost anything.

Almost like being there. We really enjoyed this experience!

Cool!. I like that it gives me notifications for launches. Haven’t tried the AR part, but I just realized that you need to give this app access to your camera in order for it to work. Otherwise you will just see a blue/black screen as others have said. Don’t hate the app because you didn’t allow camera access!

So disappointed-1st launch; last try. I was very excited about this app and was in town fir the April 2 SpaceX launch. App was keeping me informed until T minus 23 minutes then it stopped. No more times were displayed. Turned off app. Still nothing. Checked for updates — all current. Fortunately was able to see the launch across the river in Titusville but won’t bother with this app next time.

Awesome but.... Devs if your reading this you should make it where you can have mission in a sort like landing on Mars or sending a probe to Titan just something to spice up the simulator

Extremely Informative and Exciting. This app will be a hit with the entire family. I can hardly wait until I can watch a real launch in AR as it happens roughly 70 miles from my home. I will use this app again and again and will share it with others that are curious as to just how a Space X rocket actually operates throughout a launch in AR. Thank you for taking the time to make such an informative and entertaining app.

Wow! My nerd is Satisfied! 🚀 Great app!. Skimming the store... have nothing to do... oooo... what’s this? A simulation... free? Cool! I’ll try! Opens app... Starts simulation... OMG this fantastic! Seriously I loved this app! It is free ,though doesn’t have much to offer yet. The idea is fantastic being able to move my phone and look at the engines, capsule, and all the rocket freely was great. Then the app gave many intuitive facts, some I knew some I didn’t. Then I followed the Falcon 9 in flight, separates stages, etc. I am yet to see flights live (another great idea I’m going to geek out on). My only complaint is that you can’t skip the facts about the launch pad, since I played the simulation multiple times. I highly recommend this app to nerds or non-nerds! Cannot wait for the Atlas V to be added.

Very Informative. This app is very informative as it walks you through the preparations of the rocket assembly and pre-launch to launch phases of the rocket in AR, which also makes it pretty cool! I was especially interested to learn how exactly, in real life, the boosters manage to steer to land vertically (in the same orientation as it takes off) like some old 1960’s Buck Rogers TV show or something like that. It is really interesting to see the whole process from start to finish. The only thing I would add is a choice about whether to follow the first stage (booster) as it descends, or continue to follow the second stage and payload as they continue their journey to outer space. That would be really cool to see in AR (perhaps seeing stars and the outer atmosphere along the upper edge of the room that I am in as I use this app). Other than that, this is really worth downloading in my opinion, as a physics nerd who really enjoys this kind of stuff, and I haven’t even seen the live launches this is supposed to alert you to and keep you updated for when they arrive so you can watch in this app. How exciting! I’m glad that I downloaded it!

Amazing AR app!. This is one of the best applications of this type of technology I have seen yet for the iPhone. Really cool stuff! Can’t wait to see what other times of apps are maid. Great job USA Today team!

Scan surface problems. Scanning surface to set up didn’t always cooperate...so images were way too large or not in a good position. Once got it to play nice, it was a neat experience for our family.

That was unexpectedly a blast! (Hyuk hyuk). Some AR apps just don’t cut it yet. With this, however, I just had a cup of coffee and watched a rocket launch in my living room. This was well done. Thank you to the team behind this!

Houston, We Have A SERIOUS Problem Here!. Hello And Thank You For Making This New App! But My AR System Has A Problem Scanning The Earth’s Surface And I Don’t Know Where The Pad Area Is! But My Dad Will Help!! Si Thank You Very Much For Making this App! I Bet I Looks Really Cool!

Awesome!. I love this kind of stuff, I’ve been interested in the space program for a year now and I have learned a lot more from this app than I already knew. I love this app so much that I just keep doing the AR launch over and over again. So developers, if you are even reading this, please make an app like this for the Saturn V rocket used in the Apollo program, it would be really cool!

The app isn’t working for anything I’m using. I’m very interested in this app and it looks like an amazing and fun idea, except that whenever I try and use it, when you should see through the camera while scanning for a flat surface, I see nothing but a blue screen. I have an iPhone 6 which meets the system requirements and I also tried to work the app on my family member’s iPad Air, which also meets the requirements. But still, I can’t even scan for a flat surface, preventing me from using the app. I would love to see an update where this is fixed quickly, since it’ll help everyone out

Lots of bugs. AR is dicey at best, placement seems to be very hit or miss. Compass calibration doesn’t work on iPhone X, stuck on screen with no way to get out of the mode. Connectivity issues when launching cause the app to get stuck on the iss feed view forever.

Making science exciting!. Thank you for making Space X come alive! Sharing this experience with my children and grandchildren will put into motion their excitement of space exploration. As a family we were fortunate enough to see the launch of space X mission on April 2nd at 4:30 PM. And experience none of us will ever forget. Keep up the great work!

App didn’t ask for access to my camera, so App doesn’t work. Very frustrating even for a free app. It’s a simple app. For a simulated launch, the user points the phone’s camera at a flat surface and on the phone’s screen, the user can view a launch as if the rocket is taking off from the flat surface at which the camera is pointed. However, the app never asked for permission to access my phone’s camera so all I see is a blue screen, instead of the flat surface at which my camera is pointed. Oh, well. It seems to be a rather gimmicky app anyway. I don’t know why it works for other people.

Awesome use of technology. Absolutely the coolest. The close up views of the launch and desperation and the booster return are astounding. Whole new perspective on launches. If only this was available when the Space Shuttle was around.

Nice App, Great AR Use Case. This really helps understanding of the rocket and different phases if launch. A few improvements in UI details related to swipes and zooming, and with the launched rocket locations would make it better, but it’s already very impressive.

Great. It has many educational things about rockets and it has real time launches which I think is cool because then you see the actually rocket and you can do a launch sim so this is a good app

Inspiring SCIENCE on your desk or living room table!. Wow!!!.. I eagerly await a version that runs on Apple optical input tech (Glasses, visor, contacts...) or something similar! Who knows what I would be doing now if I had this available in school? Mind blown in the best way! One step closer to a multi-plantery species ! It’s like a livid dream. 🚀

Good fun and informative.. While not a prefect app...it is pretty cool living on the Space Coast and be able to pull out the app and know exactly where to look for a launch regardless of where you are.

Good but could use some improvements. This is a really neat concept, especially for people like me who have 150+ apps on their iPhone, but I found it to be lacking in certain areas, particularly for the fact that it’s not very intuitive. I found it to be a bit convoluted and even a bit confusing. There’s just too much going on, and the interface seems to defy conventional design practices to the point of being a bit obnoxious.

Nicely done. Well done and great use of AR on the Falcon 9 demonstration. One suggestion: finish a segment and queue the others if one touches multiple points. As there is no was to go backwards.

An AR Aerospace App that is engaging, fun, and educational to All.. I don’t understand how USA Today isn’t pouring more resources into this App. The 1st advertised live AR simulation launch never made it to the AR launchpad . Today’s Block V Falcon Launch happened in AR on the app, got scrubbed IRL. It was still very cool and exploited AR to it’s fullest. Pokémon go doesn’t do it for me :). I’m a nerd, my wife not so much; but she was super interested in the rocket science with some great visuals provided by the APP. Great effort and job by the developers, the tech is all there I think it’s under supported. From kids to engineers, this App is simply awesome for all in every aspect. Give these devs a bonus and triple their budget !!! launches on tv are so last century :)

Very very cool. Very neat app. Very cool to have the immersive 3-D experience from your phone and be able to get so close to such a neat technology. It’s like being at the rocket launch. I’m 42 but I felt like a kid all over again with excitement when I experienced the rocket launch and could explore in 3D At will.

FAIL: No camera permission. This app sounds great in principle but doesn’t actually work due to the app failing to ask permission to access the camera. The app is constantly searching for a flat surface which it can never get because the camera isn’t active. For an app that depends on the device camera for AR, I would have thought it would have been obvious to ensure that it works ??? I have attempted to log a fault report with no response via the website. I look forward to a future update that can actually access the camera ????

Great. Always wanted an AR experience of a space X landing

Brilliant. First I’ve tried AR! Works a treat

Excellent app. That's amazing app, good job 👍🏻😊

OH MY GOD. CAN YOU JUST MAKE AN UPDATE TO MAKE IT REQUEST CAMERA USAGE! P.S. PLS DO IT!

Review. This is an amazing ar app.

AR mode. The AR mode can be improved dramatically.

Camera Blue Screen. I think the idea of this app looks awesome, but the screen where the video for the AR is just blue. The app never asked for permission to use camera and I can’t give it access either so that sucks. I did see someone else write a review with the same problem.

Ty. That’s top notch stuff right there.

The best app in the world. They can show you how spaceships can land.

Good. It’s good but can you add rockets to launch?

Cool. That’s really awesome.

Wonderful experience. Very informational and interesting, real life instead of movie fake.

Rocket launch from the coffee table?!. Uh, yes. Amazing!

Launch experience. WOW! Brillant! In my room at home in Montreal. Watching this live-mind bogelling! Switching between AR and live video plus commentary: never thought I would live to see this. On my phone!!! I now have a good idea of how my father felt in 1969 watching the moon landing. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Amazing job. Sincerely, Jean-Claude Cloutier

Cool concept. Enjoy ANYTHING that gets me closer to a launch. I give this app two thumbs up.

Nice. Great job with the AR experience

Launch 321. Amazing app

Great game. Very good fun to play the shortage of rocket options is the only bad part other than that it’s a great rocket game at is very cool

Nice. Like it

I love it. Cool

Blue screen. Can’t even use camera blue screen that’s it

AR is awesome. I have never written anything in any box but I want to in this situation. I just want to say this app is awesome and blows the mind in all who I show this to. AR is the beginning of something good and I can’t wait to see where in 5years it will be.

Live only?. I missed the latest launch by a couple hours and there’s no replay? Odd.

Major visualization improvement! Thanks Elon!. How can someone Feel confident? Variables are too extreme! Elon I can’t conceptualise your level of reflection on how someone can process massive amounts of data and make it extremely useful.

Can’t get the camera on. I just get a blue screen, can’t get the camera to turn on. I allowed everything when I installed it. iPad Air 2 on iOS 11.3

Very neat experience. Interesting visual illustration and explanation of the SpaceX launch system.

Cool idea, doesn’t work.. I am a big fan of space, and rocket launches, especially SpaceX and I am really happy that someone came up with the idea to experience it in AR in your home. Unfortunately the app just shows a blue screen where the camera is supposed to show the video, and I can’t find anyway to fix this. My guess is that because it never asked for my camera permissions, but I still can’t grant those permissions from settings. I am on an iPhone 6

Very cool!. I’m impressed.

Five stars. Really good app

So cool!. Love showing this off

Amazing and instructive. Amazing and instructive

Short but cool. I liked it.

Really awesome AR experience!. Really well done! Superb AR experience!

Wonderful launch simulation. As a kid watching NASA launches, it was thrilling! I loved this simulation, I feel like I’m there again. Bravo and good sailing today!!

I want it to work. I can’t seem to get the camera to work. The app launches but It can’t find the horizontal flat surface it is looking for, just a blue screen. This is a bummer

Looks pretty good so far. So far just seen the launch simulation but can't wait for the live launch

Launch and landing of space x. Very educational and easy enough to understand

No replay?. Was very excited to see this app being the space nerd that I am. Well, I guess unless you had zero to do say maybe living on your mom‘s couch at 6:32 PST this morning, you can’t relive the launch. Shame because some responsible people had to drive to work today and couldn’t “live” view this.

Space X launch and booster landing. The launch pad experience is great. After takeoff not so much. The 3D effects went away. It needs a little more work

Love this. At first, I thought it just showed the falcon 9 launch. Never new that it showed all the rockets. Just finished watching atlas v launch, it was AMAZING, and so is the app. Good job to the developers:)

Awesome experience!. So cool to be able to set up and launch a rocket! Plus learn and watch its return!!

Interactive and cool learning experience.. Good for kids to learn. Mostly because it’s fairly short.

Knowledge at the peak. This app is very informative and interesting providing a great amount of valuable information!

I learned something. The sound of a rocket launch is so loud it can damage the payload. Who knew?

Please change the orientation and music auto-play. I like the app, and certainly the information, but the horizontal orientation and music make it difficult to use... and close.

Launch 321 is awesome. The simulation is a great tool For kids. Can’t wait to show my grandkids. And watching the launch away from home is awesome.

App needs work. App looked interesting. Right after downloading and opening the app I was disappointed. First the app is upside down compared to every other iPad app with no way to rotate it to the correct position. This is a big bug if you have your iPad in a stand and switch between apps. Too bad USA TODAY would hire experienced programmers.

Enjoy. Makes you feel like your part of the mission.

It’s good but could be better. The game is perfect but I would prefer to have more spaceships to launch

Not working. Hi I have not got a chance to launch cause it won’t work I put it up to a flat area and it won’t work! I found out the problem it’s not asking me to turn on camra!!

Looking forward to future launches. Can’t wait to see what happens when using this app during future live space launches.

Love every update. An incredible experiential look at the progress of the space program. And, in the advancements of AR technology.

321 launch. Lots of fun before the main launch! Easy to use

Seemed like a cool app. Was excited about this app, unfortunately the launch simulation does NOT work and there is no troubleshooting to help. The AR does not work, yet the app says it is compatible with my device. There is a live launch today, that doesn’t work either. Guess you need to back to the drawing board. I deleted it.

Good graphics very cool. This is such a cool experience how you can move around with the AR especially in live.

Stoked!!. Finally an interactive app we can go to anytime and tell us when launches happen.

Just cool!. Me and my 4 year old granddaughter saw this take off from the living room floor!

Great app. That was an exceptional and very instructive viewing of a launch sequences. I’ll be showing this to my grandchildren who have a level of curiosity. Thanks

Build my own rocket!. Really enjoyed building and launching my own rocket from my kitchen counter then directly the re-entry and landing back at Cape Canaveral

Amazing Simulator!. Amazing app Highly recommend getting it if you really enjoy rocket launches or just space in general!

This don’t work..... This game just stays blue please fix it because I really like the look of this game. I still must give a good rating unless it’s left unfixed.

Really fun app and educational. This is a great app to teach kids about the rockets being used today. It is a must have if you are near KSC for a launch.

Amazing. This app solved one of my questions and makes me feel better :)

Keeps scanning over and over. Will not work on my kids mini 2....just keeps saying saying the AR won't work. Blue screen is all the get when trying to build a rocket, very disappointing as my boys were looking forward to this and I was all excited to tell their teachers.

Doesn’t load camera, so can’t use it. Using iPad Air 2, the camera isn’t enabled within the app so the AR function doesn’t work (just a blank blue screen, audio and text seems to work fine). It looks cool in the screenshots. Would be happy to update the review once the app is functional.

321 Launch. One of the most amazing apps I’ve come across!!

Great AR app to watch rocket launches. Really great to be able to watch rocket launches with augmented reality technology. I really like the detailed 3-D models, animations, use of telemetry and the live video feed.

Disappointed. The app was a great disappointment. We followed directions. We were told to find a flat surface. A cartoon image of the launch pad as projected from far above appeared. It seemed to be as if we were again using the simulation part of the app. It would have been more productive to have gone inside and watched on channel nine.

Outstanding !. Really very nicely done. Can’t wait for next launch!

So cool!. Very engaging to see a rocket launch in my home! Can’t wait to view an actual launch with this app.

Educational & epic. Get educated with the complex processes that go into a rocket launch and subsequent booster landing in this captivating AR app and stay informed in the space program initiatives.

Does not work on iPad Mini. I don’t know how it’s supposed to work, but the app can not find a flat surface, therefore, nothing works. The app did not ask for permission to access my camera, and I do not see any setting that would facilitate this. If you can get it working on an iPad Mini, I’ll change my review.

Sim Review. Very nice simulation. Still waiting similar quality experience for live launch mode.

Launch experience. This is really great. We have witnessed launches at Canaveral and see this as a good introduction for our grandsons. Thanks for the show.

This is what I want …. … too see more of with AR technology. As an example, I would love to visit places that I cannot afford to travel to.

Spacecraze. Amazing app. 5 star, first class production. Informative, educational, enriching, and entertaining. I loved the experience. Thank you!

Does not work. I was super excited to have this app but once downloaded the viewable part that would display the AR does not work. The screen says to find a flat surface but all I get is a black screen. My camera works just fine otherwise, so idk what the issue is. Please fix this!!

Cool AR Launch. It was rather interesting to see a simplified walk-through of the procedures before and during the launch of the Falcon 9 in AR.

Something different. I thought the experience really cool. Once you find your flat surface, I enjoyed how the application walks you through the different stages.

This isn’t working. I might be doing something wrong but it asked for camera access and I gave it access but it didn’t work. Just an empty screen with instructions on the side. I had this same problem a year ago but if I am doing something wrong please tell me

Thanks for the app. Thanks for the app and the efforts that has been done for making this app.

Good Job, USA TODAY. I’m pleasantly surprised that USA TODAY made such a great app; 321 LAUNCH is everything that it claims to be. I can’t wait for April 2 to use the live launch functionality!

Won’t load now. I enjoyed this when it was released, but now the app won’t scan to find a flat surface, so it won’t load the rocket. I’ve tried it multiple times over a month on two devices, deleted and reinstalled, nothing.

Please wait! 321 LAUNCH app comments loading...
