Helpful but needs improvement. I like this app and have relied upon it since it’s inception. I use it multiple times a day, nearly every day. But I’m quite frustrated with the app’s accuracy on train/bus times. The app indicates a train or bus is coming and gets it completed wrong. The gps (or whatever locating tech they’re using) needs to improve. And, the refresh rate needs to improve as well. If I have full cellular and WiFi working, the app should be able to refresh with up to date information. Yet, I often get blank screens that I have to fully quit, often multiple times, before the data refreshes.

Still garbage. One year later, for buses, this is still useless garbage with wrong info. It does not show the downtown 104 stop at Broadway between 63 and 64. The 104 bus I just got did not show on the app. And that stop should be combined with the downtown 7 stop two feet away. In all other respects it is difficult to use. Jumps around like crazy and the stop bubble descriptions don’t even say uptown or downtown so I waste time looking at four bubbles to find where I am standing. The previous app was ok. MTA should sue this vendor and go back to the old bus-only app.

Horrible. The MTA is already a nightmare and knows that New Yorkers rely on them despite of the horrible service. This app is NEVER accurate, it constantly freezes, does not update regularly and probably never gets maintenance. Do NOT rely on the times that you see in this app to take a train or a bus. This is just a feel good app that fools you into feeling better when you see “2 mins” when in reality the train already arrived and you missed it because you relied on the information in this app. Your best bet is to leave your house early enough to wing it with these stupid trains and buses.

not accurate enough. i have to go to school every morning, and i rely on the bus app. sometimes i check the time, and it’s 3 minutes away. i wait for more than 3 minutes and check again and it says “3 minutes away”. also sometimes when it says “arriving” on the app, i find it’s already arrived and gone. at least the bus drivers are usually pretty nice😊. POWER TO THE PEOPLE! FIX THE BUS APP! I WANT TO GET TO SCHOOL ON TIME! - a concerned and dedicated bus citizen😌

Currently unusable. Since the last update, saved trips frequently come up as completely different routes (different and unrelated starting and ending locations), and trying multiple times does not cause them to refresh. Previously, there was only trouble getting it to load current departures/arrivals (under conditions that allow other apps to load just fine), but now it’s worse than useless. I’m still holding out for a fix for a little while, because in theory it would be a very useful app.

Different subway times than website. I like the app, it’s simple fast and great for favorites. But the times it shows are not as accurate as the website which is pretty infuriating. Namely it seems to be missing trains that are about to arrive or are arriving, and instead only shows those arriving a bit further out like 3+ minutes. As a result I always end up checking the website to see which train is arriving.

Life Saver. My biggest fear of the city is getting lost and google maps and waze were both not helping with my fear. I downloaded this app and my stress was gone. It told me what subway I needed to take and how many stops until I have to get off with multiple different options like willing to walk far or shortest walking distance. This app made my day trip 100x better and I’ve had a good day

I Really Can’t Stand This App. Most of the time all I want to do is look up what time the next bus is coming, but even figuring out how to do so is too involved. The previous app, “Bus Time” allowed you to quickly look up a bus route and it automatically saved the routes you previously looked for. However this app does not. Even if I save a route, I do not see it listed anywhere and apparently it was all a waste of time. For something like this, all you really want is quick and simple access - especially during extreme temperatures or stormy conditions, but that isn’t what this app provides. 👎

SubwayTime was WAY BETTER!!!!!. I never write reviews, but this app just pisses me off, it counteracts what it is intended to be. I used to use SubwayTime and it was super accurate. just a couple weeks ago you stopped supporting it, and shut it down, forcing us to use this garbage of an app.. it tells you the train is coming in 2 minutes, but then you go and it turns out the train is already gone and you have to wait 15 minutes for the next one... MAKE IT MORE ACCURATE!!!!!!... So that it works the way it is intended to... I will update the stars if you fix this stupid issue. Thanks

Bad app, cluttered and inefficient. And on top of that, it’s been broken for weeks. People generally need info about buses more than they need to know when the next train is coming. And now you cannot get ANY information about specific stops. You can bring up a bus route and see where buses are, but if you want to see complete info about a stop used by several lines, or get arrival times for the next 2 or 3 buses, clucking on that stop should show you what’s coming. Now you see nothing at all. Say you are at 23rd St. and 3rd Ave. You have made the M102 one of your Favorites. You click on that line, click on direction of travel, and you see where buses are on the route. If you then click on the 23rd St. stop, you should see times for several M102s, as well as wait times for the M103 and M101. You now see nothing whatsoever. The old MTA BusTime app was infinitely better. But it has been crippled so that it only works in Nearby mode. Now to get the functionality of the old BusTime app, you have to use the horrid myMTA app for a limited overview, and then you can switch to the old app when you are close enough to the stop for which you need information. Just restore theBusTime app already and stop torturing regular riders with this hot mess of an all-in-one app.

If you like being human cattle, you will love. The MTA. If you ever want to feel like a hog being slapped with a stick on your rear end to get in the pen with the other piggies then the MTA is your ticket. Do you like strangers breathing directly onto your face in a crowded subway with no pole to hold? MTA! Do you hate basic human dignity? MTA! Do you like the smell of urine and beggars hounding you the moment you open your eyes in the morning? MTA! Did you ever want to take a hot, hour long bus ride with no leg room? MTA! Do you love paying a lot of money for terrible service but you can’t drive because the roads in New York are the most congested in the world? You got no other choice in NYC. MTA is it babyy startt spreadin the newsss I’m leavin toddayyy

clunky and buggy but versatile. lots of useful info that is super frustrating to access and probably organized more based on how it's stored in a database than how users might want to see it. too many taps to see a list of nearby departures. should just be able to open the app and see all or filter on uptown or downtown or outbound/inbound east/west departures rather than having to select the station or line. many different stations or lines may make sense for me especially considering a multi modal trip including citibike or a scenic walk or something. like if i'm at herald square going to brooklyn i want to know whether the B or the Q is coming first if i'm going to flatbush or whether the D or N is coming first if i'm going to sunset park. or if i'm going to prospect heights i just want to know which one of the four is coming first. displaying all nearby trains by order of departure and then a quick one button filter by general direction rather than having to pick a station and scroll through a million lines and directions to compare departure times is silly. also super annoying that you can't reorder your favorite stations or that they wouldnt automatically re order based on proximity. when i tried to delete and re add to move my home station to the top i now can't re add it.

Glitchy and not instinctual. Like most New Yorkers I have 8 cars—the E train 🥁. Please, MTA, the largest subway system in the USA, the most stations in the world: Fix the MyMTA app! Couldn’t get trip planning in app today, had to switch to your website. Deleted app, reinstalled, still not working. In App Store your last update to fix bugs shows as one month ago. Not often enough. When the app works, it’s helpful especially being able to have favorite rides in the app.

Poor interface, doesn’t do basics. At the end of the day you want an app that will tell you when the next train is coming quickly and simply, this fails on both counts. You have to click through several fields to get to train times and then your choices are limited by your location, which is unreliable. Almost impossible to pick a station up or down the line from where you are to figure out a transfer. And the display of times is only half screen meaning you have to enlarge and scroll to see downtown arrivals half the time. As usual the MTA is trying to be too clever and satisfied no one. I miss the Subway Time app—at least it was straightforward.

I want the old app back. This app is trying to be too much! The old app that just tracked train times was much more user friendly and more consistent. This app is way less user friendly - for the subway stops that share with the shuttle it shows up as the same train so you really have to pay attention instead of it showing as a different train. If someone is not as familiar with the destination of the train, you will be confused. It also switches the downtown and uptown depending on the station. For my station in Brooklyn it’s downtown on top and then uptown on bottom, while other stations are reverse. That can cause a lot of confusion since it’s so inconsistent and it really should be uniform throughout the app. I want the old app to be supported again! Much better usage and got the job done

Terrible App. This app lets you save bus lines and specific stops as “favorites” — but saving them as favorites doesn’t benefit you in any way. You cannot use those favorites to quickly jump to that bus line or bus stop; rather, if you want to see how long it will be before the next bus arrives, you have to manually look up that bus line in the app, so saving it as a favorite accomplished nothing. If I ride certain buses on a regular basis, the app should offer a way to save those bus lines so that I don’t have to manually look them up by route number each time; unfortunately the favorites feature doesn’t do that. The way the arrival times and bus locations are displayed are confusing as well.

Needs work. This app has so much potential but some very basic functionality needs to be worked on asap. First, it only shows 3 routes - there are often several additional routes one could take. Why can’t it list them all? Secondly why can’t I save a location rather than a trip? I always want to go “home” but from varying places - I should be able to save the destination. Thirdly when you search for an address WHYYYY doesn’t it default to an address in the 5 boroughs? I am not trying to get to Alpharetta Georgia using the MTA. Come on. It’s so frustrating.

Perfectly good App now broken. New upgrade August 26 broke the favorites. The existing ones disappeared. New subway favorites now show blank and there is no ability to add railroad favorites. Now completely useless as an app. UPDATE 9/23!21 New update has fixed issues after 4 weeks. Now again most helpful in tracking favorite lines and any activity/delays in the system. Glad to have it back

Awful, inaccurate, on brand. Like everything else the MTA has, this app is absolutely terrible and the “planned trip” is useless. I am a commuter who needs to be at work at the same time everyday and there is not a single day that I use this app that it gives me the correct time of arrival for my destination or even for a train. This app has caused me to be late to work several times. I have even left 15 minutes before it says I need to leave and by the time I get to the station, the app updates my ETA for 15 minutes later than they said. So awful.

I don’t get why this app has such bad ratings…. This app is waaaay better than google maps. I find it to be more accurate than maps and google maps in term of nyc train times, fastest/less complex routes, and accurate pin location. I used to use google maps but it isn’t updated as fast as this one, so it didn’t display delayed train times, updates routes, etc as fast as this app does. It’s a 10/10 for me.

Pretty good. I’ve used this app for about a year now and have barely had issues. I use the bus a lot so I only ever need to check when the bus is going to arrive. I would say this app is correct about 98% of the time. It would even say when the bus is approaching. The trains can differ sometimes but not by much. Probably by a minute or two if it does differ. Which isn’t often. It tells you when there are delays and if there are any skipped stops. Or track maintenance.

Not thinking about the user. While the app gives you the basic real time arrival, the problems start when you start looking at the details. Suppose you’re looking at a train arrival at your station and the prompt tells you it’s arriving at 1:25, 7 minutes away. If you tap on the more arrow, it gives you a timetable that resembles closest the similar recent time in the subway line, which has nothing to do with the next train coming up. For example if you’re at the 75 avenue stop and your next train arrives at 1:22, when you tap on the details you get a train timetable on midtown that has the train stopping at 1:22 in midtown. Not only useless but misleading. If they can’t get the actual timetable for the train you’re checking in on, how about the distance by minutes to each station. They’ve had this willful bad experience since launch. Also, how about clear entry points from the street? Google Maps and exit strategy had this many years ago

All looks no substance. Recently, I’ve been looking for an app that does it all. I have one for the bus, one for the train and one for the subway, and it makes no sense that everything is separate at least to me someone who thrives on efficiency, so when I found out this app existed. I was happy after I downloaded it I was slightly angry again. It looks the part. It looks like it’s supposed to function, and it runs efficiently and everything looks like it was made recently, but it’s not even allowing me to save bus routes. That’s within walking distance of me, which makes no sense so for now a one out of five I wish I could give it a zero.

Man, what is this ?!. This apps needs to start all over from scratch because HOLY CRAP ! Why does it take so long for the app to start up and much of the time, the times take another century to load. By that time you already left the station and possibly add more time to your trip. And what I don't get it is why some stations load WAY faster (like in an instant) than others or why they never load up at all. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE ! You wanna check when the train makes it to the station…guess you gotta close the app 10 millions times just for nothing to show up again! Man, what is this ?!

Can no longer lookup routes. Something broke in the past week or so such that the main functionality of the app doesn't work. Can't search routes from point A to point B. Update: reinstalled and whatever was broken seems to be working for me now. Updated to 5 stars. When it works it's my preferred way to see when the next train is due.

Bring back SubwayTime. This is a garbage app. It takes forever to find what you are looking for, and even after you do, the data is probably wrong. For instance, today I wanted to check to see when the next train was coming into my local station. After I finally find it, I realize that it is displaying information for a completely different station. Super helpful. SubwayTime was incredible because it was simple and easy to use. It was about as close to perfection as the MTA will ever achieve. So, of course, they pulled the plug on it.

Mostly terrible but a necessary evil for service changes. The app is terribly designed, full of bugs, and an awful overall UX experience. Unfortunately it’s also the only place where you can get semi-reliable info about service changes. It’s still wrong a lot and almost useless but the info they supply to Google and Apple is (intentionally?) incomplete and out of date. Not only is the UX/UI terrible but the app frequently freezes during various functions and has to be force quit. This has been the case for years with little improvement. It also doesn’t auto fill any of the fields or remember your home address even though it requires you provide this info when signing up. Submitting feedback requires re entering all of your info each time and will block the submission of there are any typos. There is no ability to change many of the defaults (e.g. it always displays “fewest transfers” first even though almost all people would prioritize “fastest” or “least walking” over that. Bottom line: it’s a terribly outdated app that works very poorly and has never been improved. But it has a captive audience due to the even poorer info they give to the alternative apps.

Underpowered. Outdated and insignificant app meant to represent the largest transit system in the United States. No home button (which every transit and travel app should have, regardless of how dumbly minimalist the designers claim it is. If you are using a smartphone, you are not a minimalist). Inaccurate arrival times. Inability to leave feedback about the app itself. Requires location for bus times. As if that matters? If you are taking the bus you know the lines. Certainly better than nothing, but barely average. They developers need subway riders working for them.

New Yorker Here. I love the app. It’s always accurate and I know if I should transfer or not at a station. Before I couldn’t tell and I would wait 15 minutes and miss my chance to use another subway line. Always tells you what trains are working in which stations if you click on the train line and stop. Very accurate. I’m very happy. Maybe add notifications? That would be awesome. Like if the 7 is not running when something happens at Times Square etc.

Glitches. I rely on this application now to get around NYC and am running into settings glitches. When you save a destination and click on the top right “customize” go to travel preferences I set it to show me ONLY subway. Not bus, express bus or rail. I save my settings. When I reopen the app the next time I need to use it, all my settings are gone and it’s reset to show all 4 methods of travel. Please fix. This app should also know where I am on a map and show me the best route using my current location. I am going into Greenpoint Brooklyn right now and it says to take the M train to the B62 bus. I’m already on the G train and my destination is 2 stops away! This app needs to be smarter.

Not for NYers. This is really designed for tourists who have no idea what the subway is... that said, the interface is also just as confusing as train service on a weekend. So, good luck tourists!! Too many links that require you to go to a website and take you off the app. Why go on the app if I need to leave it? No easy way to quickly see when the next train is coming for a specific line/stop without going through a much of clicks, or unless you favorite every possible subway line you’ll ever take, at which point, what’s the point in favoriting? And it’s weird... this app seems to do everything except what people want it to do. Tell us which trains are arriving when and how about to get there. Yes, you can do that... but it takes so many steps. Save yourself the download space and don’t get this.

No offline maps, just like it's 1990 again. Seriously, how naive is to create an app that doesn't have the option of displaying a subway map without an internet connection? It's not as if the NYC subways have internet access when you’re in the tunnels, and even of they did, an offline map would load quicker. I don’t expect those responsible for this app to read this and I definitely don’t think they would respond if they did, and I’m certain they won’t fix this issue. The MTA doesn’t really care about you, and that shows in the subways and it shows in the app.

Usually Incorrect. If this app tells you there’s a bus 4 minutes away, that bus might not even exist. If the app shows you a map with a bus a block away from you, there’s a good shot that bus doesn’t exist. If you can see a bus in the distance and try to use the app to see which bus it is, you’re much better off closing the app and waiting until the bus is close enough for you to read what line it is. The only thing this app is consistently good for is showing you half of a bus route. It can do that pretty well.

Great for access a rider passengers. This app provides real-time update for the requested access a ride vehicle up to 30 minutes in advance. The tracking ends after the trip is completed. It is a great app for both family and passengers see whereabouts of the trip. The trip cancel works great when the trip is no longer needed. Good job MTA.

Data sometimes wrong, not intuitive to navigate. The subway part of the app is simple to use but the data is sometimes wrong, not in sync with the countdown clocks in the station. I’ve had many times where I refresh the app and see the last sync time stamp is current, see that my train is 5 min away and the train is already in the station with the count down click saying 0 min. Secondly when using the Rail part of the app it is not at all intuitive. Clicking on a “station” does not tell you how to get there. It gives you arrival times in both directions. But instead of using “arrival” or “departure” everything is in reference to Manhattan. So if you wanted to go to croton Harmon and you were in Yonkers you’d need to look for “outbound from Manhattan”. The destination of the train is nowhere to be seen. It would be better if the label were “to croton Harmon”

Used to be Good!. It used to be such a good App! When it told train trains and buses were gonna arrive they did at the exact time! I take the A train to early morning from 111st… It had 2 trains departing at 9:13-14 and 9:20AM I could take either or… Tell me why out of sudden the 9:13 train started departing at 9:18AM and no 9:20AM and when I arrived the train was already gone WITH THE APP STILL SHOWING THE TRAIN AT 9:20AM and today it shows 9:18AM (finally) THE TRAIN DEPARTED AT 9:22AM… Again, no previous note, showing Normal Service! You gotta put it together because people depend on these trains… A min late to wherever you are going; work, medical appointments, any type of appointments whatsoever and it’s over! Now it is just an App it does not control trains and buses but it needs to keep users more updated about what’s going on…

1 minute to bus? (Error). Generally i think the app is ok. Not cutting edge However there is a glitch summer 2023 that needs fixing. If it says the bus is coming in 1 minute, then it seems to be stuck. You will be able to see the buses at other locations moving but your stop will be frozen at 1 minute. In this case if u r at the bus stop you can use the text feature posted on the schedule and get a better result.

What Happened??. My Wife & I uses this app daily. Everything was smooth sailing until a week ago. I have both IPhone11 and GalaxyS20 and my Wife has the GalaxyS20. The app still works great on the iPhone however I can’t say the same for our Galaxies. I keep getting a message saying I’ve either entered a invalid route or My device doesn’t has internet service. Please fix things back to the way they were. My Wife really depends on it.

Several New Glitches. Recently an update resulted in icons not showing up for favorite lines so you can’t tell which lines have issues until you click on them. Also all the favorites stations and stops have disappeared, requiring navigation to the “stations near me” option, meaning location services are required. All of this makes the app far slower to use and less functional in general. Two updates have come since then and not fixed this issue, nor has deleting and redownloading the app. I miss the old subway time app!

Last update ruined the app. Up until this past weekend, the app worked perfectly for me, to tell at a glance when the next few trains would reach a given station. I used it multiple times a day to decide which line to take, or so I would know to hustle if my train was arriving in the next few minutes. Now the app has no functionality for me. I’m a big believer that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, but this “improvement” has completely destroyed something that was working just fine.

Add back the PDF subway map for underground use. Frequent user of the app and appreciate the updates. Previous versions had a pdf of the subway map which was extremely helpful when underground with no service. It was removed. Now when attempting refer to the map it won’t load as it needs a signal (cell/wifi). Add back the subway map for offline viewing.

Accurate and well-updated. This app, while not always the most clearly laid out, provides up to the second information on bus and subway arrivals, which is a huge time saver. And while a recent update led to a bug that impacted his arrival times, I was impressed with the speed with which an update was released to correct the issue.

Ghost Trains?!. Firstly, this app is great, the time is accurate and for such a wide scale train system this app can (mostly) keep track of every running train at the moment. Not only that but to be able to track buses is amazing, since traffic can prove to be arbitrary. Maybe I’m being too picky, but this system can still improve. I’m on my way the station so I check the app, 2 minutes for the next D, the next after that was in 20 minutes!! Obviously I sped up, but as I ventured further into the platform, the app already says “arriving” not a single tremor in the platform. The train just wasn’t there. I check again on the app and the arriving train was no longer there, only the train in 20, now 18 minutes left and another half an hour away. This is NOT the first time there has been a ghost train on the app. Hopefully the service’s tracking system improves, and maybe the issue isn’t the app, but the trains themselves, well why can’t we get those fixed too hmm? Where does our tax money go?

NYers: used to check train time. So there have been some enhancements to this app since I originally downloaded it. This app is excellent for tracking and mapping out train times throughout the city and I would highly recommend it for this purpose! Also on the weekends it’ll let you know which trains are running with limited service.

Befitting App for Troubled Transit Authority. Much like the MTA itself, the MyMTA app is poorly kept. The overall app interface is fine - it could be much better - but the information on it is often wrong or not up to date. I only use it for subways and the “planned work” or “delay” updates are wrong half of the time; that goes up to about 90% on the weekends. Often, I will wait for an M train that the app claims to be “8 min” away and find out the M train is, in fact, not running at all. Long story short, double-check with station employees as the app is often wrong. MTA: please get it together.

Very frustrating. There needs to be a way to only show routes for trains. It is so frustrating when you are trying to go somewhere that should be a 20 minute Manhattan train ride and all the app shows you is an hour long bus route with 2 transfers you can take. Who in their right mind would do that? Also, why would it ever make sense to get on the SIR, then get off at a stop just to take a bus to the ferry when the train goes straight to the ferry. Not only do the bus routes add unnecessary time to your traveling, but it is also less environmentally friendly.

Terrible app. I’m late every day! The Q54 is by far the worst route in NYC. I asked the DRIVER if the time on the app reflects the time the bus gets here. His comment “ I do t go by that I go by this “ and shows me a schedule written on a frigging index card! So what that tells me is this; 1 tax payer money being utilized for a technology that is not being used properly. 2) The MTA cares less about your time and more about their money. I done understand how 6 buses can pass by and all are out of service. This is frustrating. I have to leave an hour earlier for a 40 min ride that ends up being 1 and 40 min. Terrible.

Working as it Should. Just a day after I reviewed this App for Crashing after Opening, the ‘Bug’ has been Fixed for iOS. I’ve used this App for all my Commuting services and have never had issues, I’ve even suggested this App to my Co-Workers, so I’m glad they Updated the App and it’s back to working as it should. Thx, to MyMTA

Limited functionality. The app is fine but a bit limited. Need an option to share trips with family and friends. This would be especially helpful for parents who are trying to help there young teens navigate the subway while giving their some freedom. Parents would have some peace of mind with the ability to guide their kids from afar by sharing alternative routes when there are service disruptions.

Worked for us. Not sure about the lower average rating. Good app that worked for us. Any location to any location, it has given us how to reach the closest station or bus stand and which train to board, to deboard where and to walk how much. Maybe locals have more detailed issues with it, but it has worked for us during our visit.

Nice. This app is very nice but we need to change language please

Constantly crashing. Constantly crashing - it won’t even work on my phone.

Everything you need.. This app is very useful, and is better then some apps I have for public transit. It shows all delays and there causes, status of every line, and shows me every stop near me, with an option to chose between Subway, bus or rail, or you could even see all three. In my opinion, this is all you would need for a quick way to start your day, or go somewhere. I wasn’t able to find route options. For example if I wanted to go somewhere I dident know, I would have to go on a third party app which is not included in the app. Honestly without that part, this app has everything you need and is a great choice.

NOT all in one. Says it’s an All-in-one app but doesn’t let you buy tickets. Which is the most important thing to be able to do. Stupid.

Does it ever worked?. Downloaded it maybe about a year ago try to check my station real time. But every time when I wanted to click into any stations, it shuts off completely and went back to my Home Screen. Just downloaded again try to give it another shot: same problem still there. Totally unusable. Crappy app, just like the crappy NYC subway.

Annoying animation. Remove the opening animation please. It is just waste of time to warch it opening the app every time. And the covid19 pop up as well. Displaying it once per day is enough, or at least provide an option to hide it for the rest of the day.

Not useful. Bus info is broken and has been for awhile. It puts up incorrect info, partial info, info on buses that (according to the app) will be arriving 20 minutes ago… Basically, this is everything you might expect from a city-run software project, where probably nobody ever gets fired for screwing up and the contracts go to politically connected cronies. Update 11/23: still basically a garbage app.

Current version has bugs. The current version of the MyMTA app is crashing when I tap on a subway station to view upcoming trains. I haven’t had this problem before. I have version 1.26.9, it updated automatically. Removing the app and reinstalling did not rectify the problem. My iOS is up to date (16.6).

Unusable. When I want to use the transit app I want to be able to open it and get information quickly that I can use to make a decision as to which bus or train to take. This app is complex, hard to understand and even harder to use. Moreover, when you try to set up favorites, they are not there when you return to the app. I want good information quickly when I’m traveling and this app fails miserably.

Convenient. This is a beneficial app to have. It makes my commute and public transport experience a lot better. It's very accurate and I get up to date information about delays and service interruptions.

MTA APP REVIEW!!. It’s a so-so App!! When combined with the MTA, e-tix App, you can buy a future planned trip, in advance!! But other than that it’s limited to just MTA transit service transportation!! And it doesn’t instantly provide that service according to your location unless you type what you want in. The TRANSIT APP is the best there is because it gives ALL FORMS of TRANSPORTATION (Including water ferries) in the Tri-State Area as well as wherever your location might be!!

Horrible, bloated, buggy, inefficient, awkward. Like the impression by the public of a large unwieldy inefficient cesspool of mismanagement, the MTA manages to do the opposite and excel in their mediocrity in this shining light in the cellar. Somehow they manage to engineer in additional bugs while fixing old ones, and misidentify useful features as actual bugs. Then successfully remove those! Must feel like victory. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP UPDATING THE APP. Every time there is a notice to upgrade I know if I push it, I lose something. Never adds features, only bugs

Saved me. Only way I could have gotten through NYC. Tried other apps with a lot more reviews and more stars but this one was easily the best. Must have if you don’t know your way though the New York subway system

Glitchy and always wrong. The mta app is never accurate and the time estimates will literally change minutes before the train is supposed to arrive. The train will literally arrive minutes earlier than the estimate. It’s super glitchy and if you're trying to get a good estimate, never use this app. Worst app to ever exist. There are no timely estimates about train issues ever. You’re stuck waiting and waiting forever. Always missing trains because of this god forsaken app.

Fake Times of Arrival. This is the official app of the infamous MTA, enough said. So you automatically know it's going to be garbage. The times of arrival on this app are completely off and practically made up. An ETA of 2 minutes is actually 12 minutes. A bus or train showing as "arriving" never shows up. The only consistency of this app is that is will always, always disappoint and mislead.

App broken since recent update. A recent app update has broken the my favorite subway line and the my favorite stops and stations feature which used to make this app incredibly convenient to use. Since the recent update…the favorite icons appear as empty circles or not appear at all. Like the rest of the MTA, this app has become a pain to use and mostly unreliable.

Inconsistent mess. Bloated UI, inconsistent (sometimes inconceivable) performance. For example: This app will sometimes show it is tracking busses in real-time, shows the bus arriving at a stop, then show the bus moving along the route...but nothing even came to the stop you’ve been standing out for 10 minutes. So what is it tracking, exactly? Bizarre and frustrating when you’re trying to choose between two route options based on arrival times.

Times are not always correct. WAY too often are the times 2-3 minutes late or will go from a two minute wait to “arriving”. For me, someone who lives across the street from the station, this is annoying when you constantly JUST miss the train when the app tells you that you have two minutes to spare. Now I’m waiting 17 minutes for the next train. What was the point of downloading the app? This is what I was trying to avoid.

Where is the arrival time? Why did you get rid of it?. Why would you get rid of the most useful part of this clunky app? The arrival times that shows the next 3-4 upcoming subway trains was the most useful part of this app - why you just delete that function and not even make a note about it? There is no reason to use this app now. Do you even test the app after an update. Was this an conscious decision to delete it?

You’ve somehow made this app worse. Why did you have to change the way busses were located and tracked?!?! It used to show the exact location of a bus in its route and the way it was facing, but now it doesn’t show anything and there’s a legend on the top right that shows the Real Time and Estimated Time when you can’t even tell where the bus is in the first place- utterly useless. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!”

Terrible App. This app decides when it wants to save your favorite stop and when it wants to delete everything that was saved. Doesn’t work half of the time and there are way too many glitches. Can’t add bus stops into your favorites and takes too long to load. You’re better off just using the webpage for mta, works way better.

Useful Only For Software Engineers. This app is the least user intuitive interface ever for a mass transit system. Finding out info on the bus you need to catch is infuriating. When attempting to pull up the map to see where the next bus is; the app zooms out so far from your location and when you attempt to zoom in it zooms on an area you're nowhere near. The MTA needs to delete this app and start from scratch with an emphasis on designing for people who aren't software engineers.

NOT all-in-one. Do not consider yourself an all-in-one app if you need THREE apps to cover all aspects of traveling with the MTA. This app only provides service changes, maps and trip planning. You need a completely separate app to purchase tickets, and another separate app for real time LIRR train tracking / track info. Please please please figure out a way to combine all features into ONE useful app instead of making everyone download multiple apps. NJ Transit did it, so you should be able to as well.

Not Reliable at all!. This is the worst and dumbest app ever. It’s main purpose is to provide arrival times but this app is totally wrong everyday. It may say 10-15min for next train arrival then all a sudden train arrives within a min and the app refreshes to arriving. That’s absolutely dumb. I’m on the train and it says 4 min arrival at next station… which is literally less than 30seconds.. terrible terrible unreliable app. The worst app for MTA ever

Not finding location. I’ll write in an address in search and I see the location in the list below. But I can’t select any location in that list to move on to find a route.

Cluttered and overly complicated.. The Subway Time app was simple and served a single purpose, which was helpful when quickly trying to find the next train. In an effort to provide more information in one place, they’ve made the user experience more complicated and slower to get the singular information a user needs. Bring back support for the SubwayTime app and leave this one with its bells and whistles for those who need it.

Had potential but plagued with too many bugs. This app used to be decent. You could save your favorite stations and pull up the subway times without a problem. Now, the app keeps erasing them every time. Not sure why the glitch is there, but it makes it useless to use if you constantly have to search for your station every time.

It gets the job done. This app works for the most part. It’s really useful when it comes to planning my daily commute. The only thing I wish it allowed me to do was saving my favorite bus routes.

No tickets. All in one nothingness.. A thousand free (better) apps can plan your trip. This app doesn’t just lack the essential TICKET BUYING feature, it ALSO confuses you by claiming to be “all in one”. Who else but the MTA staff know that their apps are so useless that they often don’t include all MTA services? If a user is getting an MTA app, why doesn’t it offer all that the MTA offers in one place? Maps, schedules, tickets! Monthly tickets! Lost and found! Customer service! WiFi!

at least it WAS working. It changes how they display the schedule, at least it was working and showing the correct time that the following trains are coming at each station. Now you have to click into each train but also it’s not correct anymore because they are showing random train which may not be the next one that’s coming. what a disaster app, who are these developers they are hiring? seriously there are people out there who know what they are doing.

Decent enough. I use this a lot and it comes through most of the times. Not the best time data though, it said my bus was 10 minutes away when on the tracker it was clearly stated it was 2 miles away on an extremely busy avenue prone to horrible traffic. But overall pretty good.

1 error. Trains and buses are my favorite, but there is an error, so when I look at the winter underground only map, it just says “this page contains the following errors: error on line 3 at column 535: error finding attribute name” Can you try and fix that?

Slow, Clunky, and Wrong. The app is buggy and clunky to use. A persistent issue I keep having is planning a trip in advance (even by a day) only gives future timetables for today. So instead of showing me the schedules for tomorrow at 10 am it only shows schedules for tonight after 5pm. I have no idea why it does this since the MTA website lists the proper times.

Pretty good!. If you’re only using this for buses, it’s great. I use it for buses. I use the same bus daily, so I just go to the stop and go to nearby stops, select my stop, and I look at what time the bus will come! I haven’t tried other things, though. So no comment on the rest. Looking at the reviews, they seem harsh...

New update broke search. I love having a MTA app - but the newest update has a terrible bug. Now if you search for a destination eg. the name of a bar, the search hangs and doesn't provide routing info at all! Please fix this team I depend on this app! Bonus: add the "nearby" feature the old bus app had- this is incredibly handy to compare options

Most recent update makes app crash. Since updating a few days ago, nearly every time I tap on a station stop to check train status, the app just closes. The app was pretty good before that even if it wasn’t always accurate down to the second. Now it’s not even usable.

Most unuser friendly app. It figures that the stupidest people I’ve ever had to do business with in my 20 years of living in this city make the worst unuser friendly app ever. First off the MTA are just dumb as f and finally they have a chance to redeem themselves so the rider can get a heads up in dealing with these morons. But no, You’ll spend 10 min just staring at the app wondering why it’s so difficult to navigate and eventually just close it and call an Uber. The answer? Fire everybody and rehire ppl that actually work

Really bad lately. Normally this app is pretty reliable with bus times (at least in my area) but for the last few weeks it's been consistently wrong. It'll say the bus is one minute away and directly next to that say it's two miles away, or the other way around, causing me to miss the bus or end up waiting 20 minutes for it. Bad.

Gotten even worse. I previously complained to mta that the bus times had absolutely nothing to do with reality. I would show “ arriving” at the chosen stop when it was actually 1 mile away. Today it couldn’t even find ANY bus on the route even though a 3rd party app could show where the bus was. MTA why don’t you just give up. Service is terrible and your app stinks.

Inaccurate Infromation. I’m not going to complain about the interface or the inefficient routes it suggests. The biggest issue with the app is on the weekends when they are performing construction it never has the correct information available for train schedules. Even worse, often it tells you a train will stop at a station and it won’t. They need to update the app with accurate information daily.

Beware.. This could completely brick your phone and lock you out of it for 30 minutes or more forcing you to do a hard reset. I literally couldn’t even power down in the normal way. Super convenient to have happen when you’re trying to use the app for its intended purpose, i.e., look up transit info because you’re attempting to go somewhere!! God forbid.

Favorites?. It’s generally an okay app for me. The train times are often correct, not always. But every once in a while, I can’t find my favorite lines/stops. I’ll go to the stop I’m looking for and it’ll show that I have it favorited, but when I go to my favorites, nothing is there. Which is annoying to constantly have to look up a stop.

I don’t get the hate. This app worked great for me. I’m just a tourist but it was invaluable for getting around. The times were accurate and got me where I needed. I couldn’t have navigated without it.

Most recent update makes app pretty useless. The new app update is terrible. You should go back to a list of upcoming trains on the first screen for the station. Too much clicking and less available info renders the app useless. I don’t need to see when one train will get to each station on its journey. I need to see when the all the trains on a line will arrive at the station I am at.

Love this app. I am an access-a-ride member and the app is SO MUCH MORE helpful than calling in to book the AAR rides. Thank you MTA for bringing all the information together. I love my access to the Plan Your Trip easier than the web browser. The app has been life changing for this NY straphanger.

Needs work. It seems to work better some times than others. You don’t want to get off at 11 in the night when it says the 7 train is coming and it is not. It should synchronize with the system’s clocks. In short, unreliable.

Ghost buses. I keep seeing buses coming in like ten minutes or five minutes and then I wait for that long and the bus never comes then the next one is 40 minutes away. It’s really annoying when you try to go to school and you have to end up being late because your bus never existed

MTA App Crashes Instead Of Showing Time. The app keeps crashing. A week before the MTA switched to the new 2.90 fare, the app started crashing. When I click on a stop / 34th St. Penn Station - instead of showing me the time, it crashes. I have to use the website on my phone, which doesn’t always work underground, so I’ve been the train. I’ve tried to delete and reinstall, but it is still doing the same thing. I’ve had it two years and it just started doing this last week.

How so you get worse?. Okay the app wasnt the greatest, but somewhat effective and convenient. Starting this week (second week of July 2022), it all went downhill from there. The app doesn’t even tell me the times when the trains are scheduled to arrive. Not even the trains after the first arrival time! I commute far and transferred three times. I would calculate where to get off and make an extra transfer or stay on and go the “longer” route to save 10mins. Now i cant! How do you get worse?

Recent update. With the recent update I cannot see the times of my “favorite” stations. So now I search the station but it doesn’t provide up to date information at the station anymore. Please put the old version back! As someone who makes multiple transfers…a real time update will allow me to chose which stop to make a connection

Still lots of room for improvement. For subway arrival times and delays information find it is generally accurate. However, the bus times are wildly inaccurate and based on when buses are scheduled to arrive vs when they actually do. The live location feature is also largely useless because of this (often it doesn’t show a location at all.)

Most recent version in terrible!. The latest version of the app only shows the NEXT subway scheduled to arrive, rather than the NEXT FEW arriving trains. In other words, you can see that a train will arrive in 8 minutes, but you have no idea whether the following train will arrive in 15 minutes or 45 minutes. Additionally, the arrival times are not always real time and don’t always correspond the the platform clocks.

Completely Unreliable. If the trains are running without construction or changes, it’s fine. But when things get off, riders do not receive the information they need to complete their commute. Trains listed with arrival times that aren’t actually running to a station. Construction changes are almost indecipherable, even with one’s own vast experience with the subway. I don’t have any idea how a tourist navigates construction changes. TL;DR If you’re looking for real time status updates, look elsewhere.

Bug fix added bugs.. This app is still quite good for route planning. But it no longer will actually save favorite stations and stops and that was my primary use- to check the train or bus schedule of the stops near me. Please debug the new bugs.
