Longtime user - HATE the update. I’ve used PM for years and loved it. The new update is awful. First, not notifying users well in advance using multiple methods that they may not be able access the app or lose their data is terrible user support and customer service. To just try to open it one day and not be able to — when it is tied to your finances — is inexcusable. Second, I can’t figure out how to access my old data, which is years of account tracking, and only want it so I can switch apps! Switching the data per the directions provided appears time consuming and cumbersome. I just want my data! Very disappointed and frustrated.

Updated Review - Shameful Ad Placement. My original review must have been removed. But this is an update as of the most recent change that was made. I understand supporting ads to make the app free. I don’t understand the ad placement. Why would you break up a series of transactions with multiple ads? I have 40 transactions listed for August and there are 4 ads in between those transactions and 1 static ad at the bottom of the screen. I have been a long time user of this app. Upgraded to the paid version a year or so ago. Then the new developers stepped in and made this app terrible. The app is more difficult to use and set up. I was staying with it because the basic functions work for what I need but now per the recommendations from other users I’ll be moving on to another app with NO ADS.

What Happened???. I’ve used this app for years, but this latest app is horrible! I used to be able to pick off each transaction as I balanced my checking account, but I don’t see a way to only see the debit/credit, and when I filter, all I see is the calculated balance (which is wrong in this view) in red, with the debit below it. It’s literally unreadable, not to mention the ads! I paid for this more than once and I’m not paying for it again. Whoever is developing for PocketMoney, listen to me: make it simple again so I can simply balance my checkbook. After all that’s why we downloaded it.

Old Version was great now it’s horrible. My wife and have been using the old version of PocketMoney for years to keep track of our joint checking account and credit card purchases. It was simple, worked well and the Pending Cleared and All tabs were lifesavers. Sadly with the latest iOS update the app stopped working. The new app is so overloaded with “bloat” unnecessary features and adds it’s all but unusable. We’re currently searching for another app that will roll up the balances like the old version and support local synch. The old version filled a nice niche. I hate to see it go.

Why Stop support for old version without letting us know.. I have used the old Pocket Money for years. I told everyone about it and even created a new fan base. Then without warning, we can no longer get into the old app (since latest iOS update). The new version says you can import from the old version but we can’t get into it to even export the old one. UGH!! This new one is really bloated and not very intuitive. At this rate I will NOT be using any longer (not like I can currently anyway). I have tried to send email to developers for help to no avail. I am still waiting for a reply. After that I may update this review. But so far there is too much bloat to even use as a quick check register. Painful.

Annoying ads. I noticed that there's too many ads especially in between transaction and there's no way of getting rid of it and it's so annoying to see when looking at your budget. I even tried closing the ad but it makes a blank empty spot and then a few minutes later another ads come on again. There's probably about 5 ads when looking at a budget. I have been using pocket money since it came out I even paid for the app but lots of things changed overtime, some are good but it's a matter of getting used to it. Now the ads is the worse thing I'm encountering, I'm even willinh to pay to get rid of those annoying ads.

Beware users. I regret so much ever using this app. After iphone IOS update few days ago, I’m suddenly completely locked out of the app that stores over a decade of accounting records. Developers! Is this how you value loyal users? Instead of updates, there is new version that needs to be installed separately and my years of records CANNOT BE TRANSFERED TO NEW VERSION. Will you ever have an update for older version for old time users like me? Your instruction on transfer data from old version DOES NOT HELP! Old app doesn’t even open. How can old data be emailed or file shared when I’m shut out from app. I will look into filing formal grievance with itunes… it is my financial/accounting info for god sakes, please be responsible when you develop and plan updates of such app.

Used to be great, no longer useable. My review from a few months ago is gone. Putting one back up to warn others. The functionality that made this app simple, slick, and easy to use was wiped away with no notice. Like many, I have paid for new updates multiple times when a brand new version was brought out. This time, the update was provided to the existing application. Go elsewhere as the developer that took it over is not interested in bringing functionality back as noted by their responses. RIP PocketMoney.

Please help!. I have a premium paid subscription and just a few days ago my checking account was automatically charged for the premium renewal, which I expected. When I now go into my Pocketmoney app, all the ads are there now and when I try to restore purchases to my premium subscription, it keeps saying it can’t be done. The “HELP” section says “SUPPORT” but when I click on the link to get help with getting my purchase restored to the premium subscription I’ve paid for, it says invalid user/password. There is nowhere else I can seem to find to get assistance from anyone to get my premium subscription back up and running. Please help!

Great and powerful app once you get it set up. Admittedly there is a bit of a learning curve with this app, but once you get it set up, it is fantastic. You can show or hide any columns you want, sort in any way you want, group accounts any way you want, etc. Seamless sync between my Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Daily automatic download of stock prices keeps my asset accounts showing accurate account totals. I too was a long time pocket money user and got shocked with the new version, but once I got it set up, it far out shined the old version in form and function. Support was very helpful as well in pointing out how to customize things.

I love PocketMoney. I have searched high and low for an app that I can use to track my expenses. I have downloaded almost every one out there. None are as easy to use as PocketMoney. I love how you plan recurring expenses, transfers and incomes for future dates and it does not change your current balance until you check cleared. Every other app out there changes the current balance to reflect the future date transactions. Which makes your transaction register inaccurate for the current day. I love the group folders! I have all my checking, savings and credit card accounts listed and it’s easy to read and navigate. The only thing I would love to see is a calendar view of your income and expenses. If that could be added in an update this app would be perfect!

UPDATE: Seems to keep getting worse!. *** Excellent Customer Service. Received a quick update from the developer, informing me the web server will be updated in the next release. I’m big on Customer Service and I appreciate the quick response. Hopefully, maybe the option to increase the font can be added in future updates 😉 [Web server option no longer works with the latest update 😤]

What happened to the Lite version?!. As of my software update today, my Lite version won’t work until the developer updates it. I see there is a different version in the App Store, but now I’ve lost all my data?! I don’t see a way to import the data from the previous app, and I can’t even access it anymore. The new version is way too busy and the lite version was SO MUCH simpler and better! I think most of us just want a simple check register format!! Bring it back please!!! SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Worst update ever. Pocket money has updated. Great new version, whatever!!! The old version won’t load because it’s not formatted for the new iOS version so you can’t import or export data. The help page says see faq’s and that’s it. I’ve used PocketMoney for years. I even paid for the app when it updated and wasn’t free. Now I’ve lost everything I’ve used for 8-10 years. Thanks Pocket Money. Great update that doesn’t allow prior users to enjoy the new features. If you need more help the website says to connect via help in the app, nothing works. Worst update I’ve ever experienced. Complex is not always better! I love that the developer responds with the same info on the website that allows you to get NOWHERE. The same answer for each user is still not effective. My backup is not available because the app is no longer recognized. Had I known it would disappear I would have exported my decade of data, I didn’t have the option. Backup only works when you can restore it to the app. Still a horrible update and conversion, as noted by multiple prior users. Unless I pay for the app again I can’t contact support, so that’s not helpful either.

Why is there no cloud sync?. I have yet to find an app that lets multiple users cloud sync - is no one sharing finances with their spouse?? We tried to set up Dropbox sync and it almost corrupted our data. Now we’re stuck having to remember to sync when we’re both connected to our home wifi. The app is pretty good but allowing me to manually add scheduled items when I want and allowing cloud sync would make it almost perfect. Also will not show sync option on same network with Nee IOS 15 update. Please fix asap

Only responds to 5 star reviews. App went from an easy to use checkbook register/bill reminder that works for anyone to a bloated do everything, confusing, knock of QuickBooks attempt that only an accountant would need. Nothing is intuitive in this new version, but the new owner doesnt care and only wants to argue with those that they choose to respond to. Try adding a payment reminder for a future date, good luck! You can add a future payment but now you get to fight with sorting payments, hiding future payments with no reminder to unhide it later. Just stay away

Disappointed. I purchased this app back when it was not subscription based but it was pulled off the store and “redesigned” after being bought out and then rereleased as a subscription service. I’d prefer the app that I paid for initially before having to reset my phone and discovering that the app I had paid for already once is now a monthly fee to use it with limited functionality. I’ve since had to switch to another application but I still miss my old PM app.

Okay. I liked the old version better. This version seems better suited to an accountant. I just wanted to use this like a checkbook. I’ve used this app for several years and on September 28, 2019 I paid to have the ads removed. When you came out with this new version the ads came back. Am I expected to have to pay again to remove the ads? I can’t find anywhere on the app or in the App Store to restore my purchase.

Update please this is ridiculous. I have used this app for years I have all my info in it, all my regular withdrawals and suddenly( I updated my iOS yesterday) and the app needs to be updated to work with the current iOS this is ridiculous, as much on apples part there is no reason to make an update that suddenly makes an app not work, I need to keep track of my finances I can I am sure find another app for this but I would rather not, also there is no way to get ahold of the designers without opening the app and the new iOS will not open the app

Stopped working. I liked the program until the premium subscription stopped working and it reverted back to the free version with all the pop up ads. I kept getting an error message that the log in credentials were invalid and it could not complete the subscription purchase. The problem with the free version is you cannot contact their support, there is no email address and link to click on to receive help with the premium subscription when you have been booted out of it and stuck with the free version. Apple support could not help with the issue so I asked them to refund the money and I will just stop using it all together. I spent hours setting this app up the way I wanted it, such a waste of time. It’s a good thing I still have a Quicken subscription, don’t like it as well, but at least it works. Even when you click app support in the App Store, there is no way to contact them…..major flaw!

No more support in Silver, charged for subscription renewal, now have ads.. My subscription renewal was charged, but I now have ads, no access to support (invalid login). I’ve paid for another year of ad suppression, not getting it, feel like I’ve been scammed. Used to be excellent app, now getting just annoying. Update: OK, I’ll throw in another star for support given here, but to feel locked out to the extent that the only support channel is this, man, just annoying. Subscription continuance should not require the customer waste time trying to fix the result of the developer’s broken scheme.

Updated review still would like option to have old version. I getting used to this one but have a couple issues First I’m not paying for a subscription so it might be different if I was Scheduled payments; if I change the date depending on what I enter it seems to create extra entries so if I need to do that I delete the existing one and add new. Don’t like that I can’t go in and just add the scheduled payment when I want to my account. Have to use the date options to show it pending in my account for a specific date range. I want to choose what I want Links I want to be able to upload a picture from my photos not have to take a picture. I get an email receipt I like to include and can’t. Used to be able to do this Also have a linked picture and transfer to another account that link in not included in the account it was transferred to And what is the value date? How is it used. Can’t figure out from the documentation Lastly and my biggest complaint is if I make a change to an existing transaction there is NO way to abort. Should have the save option before exiting like before. Make a mistake no way to put it back way it was. Be careful what your changing or at least write down what it was so you can put it back

New user. I didn’t even know I had this, I found it by accident but it seemed like a good thing so I tried the premium plan and while I appreciate the ability to connect with my bank automatically, it doesn’t do me any good to only see my true account balances every 3 or 4 days, I need a daily balance. I did not see an option to change that, it only shows me how long it takes to connect with my bank. Also it’s not user friendly at all but it is a good idea though.

Long time user, sad I upgraded to this latest version. I’ve been using this app since there was an iPhone to run it on. It was always a simple, powerful app that I depended on - and even paid more than once for without regret. I finally decided to upgrade to the most recent, now-supported-again version, and was happy for the three days before it updated to this most recent version. Now PM is a bloated, difficult to use monstrosity, which makes everything it once was good at hard to do. I fully regret this upgrade, the most I’ve ever regretted a purchase. Now I need to find an app which does an nth of what the old version used to do, and simply.

Redesign is terrible. This was one of my most favorite apps. It worked well, had a nice interface, and there were several functions that made it easy to use. With the redesign, which I have given *several* months to get used to, I simply can’t continue to use this app. It’s design is clunky, it’s certainly not as visually pleasing (I can live with that for great functionality though), it’s not remotely intuitive. This went from a highly rated app to an incredible low rated app. And, when I tried to get ahold of the developer, it it appears that is a right only given to “subscribers” - I’ve owned this app for years. Subscription at this point isn’t fair, nor would a put a dime more into this.

Newer version disgrace. It just keeps getting g worse each year. Just renewed and have the Gold version and there is supposed to be no ads. As soon as they renewed I have freaking google ads popping up in a finance app I pay for that’s a load. The help section on the app is no help. No way to contact people. There still is no way to copy these people but they are quick to auto renew as their gold level still has nasty ads in it don’t buy this!! Report to apple asap it has increasingly gotten worse and the star rating has gone down. Figuring the top of the line version would be rid of ads. It’s just as bad.

New version difficulties. I have used PM for many years and I was surprised when I tried to use it and received a message that the new version needed to be installed. I am very disappointed that I could not continue to use the old version! It took me several hours to figure out how to copy my data to the new version. Once I did, I was again disappointed to see it loaded up with advertisements! Also, my eyes cannot handle the small print. Sadly, I am now in search of an app similar to the old version of PM and will spend weeks loading my personal data.

Long time user. I’ve been using PocketMoney since I was rocking my Palm Pilot. I’ve found it to be a reliable method to track my spending and do some budgeting. I have strayed to try a few other apps but I always come home to PocketMoney. I have been pleased with the updates over the years and though it can be clunky in some areas, I appreciate the financial planning flexibility of this app.

Used to LOVE it. Update ruined it.. I used PocketMoney for probably 10 years. I even purchased it the last time it was updated because I had to have it. I used it daily and couldn’t recommend it enough. This new version font is too small to even read and not user friendly at all. It has changed so much that I feel like I need to carve out time to sit down and learn it. I realize that the new features might be great for some but those of us who have known and loved it for the last 10 years are super disappointed in it. It’s genius was it’s simply. Suggestion, update the old and have two versions available. If you want more bells and whistles you can choose this version but If not, like many of us long-time users, a simple version is available.

Time to move on. Like many others I have used Hardy Macia’s PocketMoney app for several years. Sadly it is time to move on as there is no fallback if I accidentally update the app on my device. I am not unhappy with change per se. I am however unhappy with being forced to pay for a subscription to get rid of ads, having purchased the previous ad free version. The developer has based this new app on the iCompta 6 engine, which they have licensed. The two products are similar except for a bespoke PocketMoney import procedure and some PocketMoney specific advanced features . As it happens I quite like the iCompta 6 app. As I have no need for the Silver and Gold functionality of the new PocketMoney, it was a nobrainer to do a one-off 3.99 payment for the ad-free iCompta 6 app rather than pay for a PocketMoney subscription . So that’s it for me. It has been a great journey with PocketMoney and I will retain the old app in memory of Hardy Macia. All good things must come to an end ... Adieu

Terrible!. I can’t stress enough how mediocre this app is I purchased the previous version and I am highly upset I can no longer use it ! Reconciliation is a nightmare doesn’t work properly! Can’t make reoccurring transactions! I tried searching for a “type” or “category” nothing filters ! I hate it !!! 😒😒😒😒😒😒

Confused. I will admit when the latest update came out, I was very disappointed. I have used PocketMoney since its inception and preferred the old platform. Since then, I have become accustomed to the new platform but when I renewed my PREMIUM subscription, all of the sudden I am bombarded with ads. I do not know how to remove the ads and found no help in the Help/Support section. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Found a good replacement. Update 4/3/20 If the developer had thousands of satisfied users as he says why have they not written good reviews. As you can see there are only one star reviews and the developer says the old app will not come back so Pocketmoney is officially dead. Again I recommend Accounts2 Update: I am now on Accounts2. It is a lot like the old PocketMoney and the developer responds quickly to any suggestions or concerns you might have. I highly recommend you use this app and forget about PocketMoney. I like many others have used PocketMoney for years and loved it. I have spent 6 hours trying to organize and understand how to navigate through this piece of crap and have decided I don’t need the hassle. I noticed that just since yesterday you have had 60 one star ratings. Looks like your ship is sinking, better bring back the old version.

From a SIX YEAR user. I retired in 2013. I had always kept a paper check register balanced every day. There had to be a way to toss the pencil. Found PocketMoney on a Google search and it happened to be late December 2016. The Help section is well written and support answered my questions well enough that I was ready 1/1/17. Long story short, it’s been six years of keeping accurate and balanced accounts. It’s not complicated, as the girl says. Every account appears on the main page. Just select the one you want to update. It’s a daily snapshot of your finances. Responsive support influenced me to give this app such a high rating. Longevity is the proof of product and customer support. I recommend it for the iPad especially.

Destroyed !!!!. Major Mistake ! Whoops! I’ve made the plunge into this newly designed PM ...... it’s everything I wish it wasn’t. Like one reviewer said, just roll with the changes and make it work! Well that being said and done, giving it my all to make it work just doesn’t cut it. Developers put to much data & details that it made it all just a big mess of useless details destroying the simplicity and appeal of this once must have PM. There’s nothing even original about what they did. They just copied another app that was available and branded it as is on. (It’s called hostile takeover) Not worth fussing, just DELETE!

Upgrading my review Now I am Happy!. I had used this for many years and then got away from it when I reinstalled it. I had a very difficult time trying to get it to work. I left a one star review. I am upgrading it to a four star review took me eight hours to get the thing up and running, but now that I have the hangConversations of it and got it to work I’m very pleased. But truthfully, in the beginning, I had to delete and reinstall and play that game before I could get it working. I paid for gold subscription because I don’t need the banking features and now it works flawlessly and meets my expectations and it’s just as good as it used to be, it’s really good but if you have trouble in the beginning, be patient, it’s really a great app and it’s worth the money paid. Thank you.

Way too clumsy. I LOVED the old version by the old developers. This new version is much too clumsy to use and way too clunky to make the subscription worth the money. It used to be so easy, so sleek, so functional and useful. This new version decided to go another way. What’s worse, is that after I imported my JJC data - per the instructions given in the new version - for some reason, it transferred phantom transactions that repeated every single month for every single year going all the way back to 1970. Now, to make the app even remotely close to useful I have to manually - manually - select and delete each transaction, otherwise my balance is inaccurate. So, so, so disappointing.

Rosy retrospection.. I don’t dislike this new version of pocket money. It is different. But I’ll tell you what I like best, it actually works. The previous version of pocket money did not work very well on newer phones. It was riddled with bugs things didn’t work etc. I loved the old PocketMoney like many of you here. But I’m not blind to the shortcomings of the old version. There are things that I miss like sorting was more intuitive. Reports worked better. The transaction register screen was less confusing. “Name, comment, payee...” etc. I LOVE that I can sync with my wife. The changes happen in front of her our eyes. And I absolutely love that the app is even being updated!! Things I don’t like: Doesn’t seem like it was made for phone? Things display better on iPad, IMO. Tapping that little loading icon to clear is a b itch I wish Payee showed instead of name. Or option Want Available credit on credit accounts Want Available balance on other accounts I don’t mind the ads, really. But on iPad the ads jump around all the GD place and moves the register all about. Annoying. Reconciling is not intuitive either.

Found a replacement!!. As all of us loyal Pocket Money users know, the “new and improved version” is terrible. After searching for days and downloading countless apps and trying them out, I found a replacement one that does pretty much what pocket money did. It’s not as clean but it does have categories, forecasting, allows you to see your past transactions and has a number of reports for budgets and cashflow. It’s called Money Monitor - good luck all! Ps. Pocket Money Developers - you did this to yourselves. Even if updating the previous version wasn’t an option, you should have had the wherewithal to create a new version that was at least similar to the previous one.

All data lost?. Received the can’t open message today when trying to open the app. I have always backed up the app using standard scheduled phone backup which worked perfectly when reinstalling to new phones or whatnot. Based on the not very detailed instructions in the new app help section and reading through the reviews and new developer feedback, it appears I no longer have access to my years worth of data. Is this true? Hoping I misread the info and that there’s a way to import my data into new version of the app.

Awful update!!! AWFUL. UPDATE - I e grown used to the app but still not great. From 1 star to 3 stars. I used the previous version for many years and LOVED it - it was absolutely perfect. Then the update rolled out and the functionality went from user friendly to cumbersome. I tried to give it a chance and despite finally figuring out some of the weird quirks, I really don’t think I can work with this app any longer. So disappointing considering I’ve built years of trust in the previous app version. Wish there was an option to revert back. Wish I could give this 0 stars, especially since I’ll need to find a new financial app.

Outstanding Tech Support. I’ve been using PM since 2010 and I absolutely love it. It has kept me completely organized with all of my financial transactions ever since. I can see in an instant a clear picture of my account standings at any given moment, as well as project ahead so I don’t overspend. One of my favorite features is being able to schedule transactions for the future for things that are recurring transactions based on any frequency. I had been struggling with a pretty bad latency issue for awhile in the app so I finally decided to upgrade from the free version so I could utilize the support at a higher level. Let me tell you, BEST DECISION EVER! Not only does the Pocket Money Team respond promptly, they are patient, courteous and went above and beyond to help me fix multiple issues I had, which I had created myself over time. The turnaround of getting their assistance was really phenomenal and everything is working as good as new again. I will continue to use this app for many years to come. I highly value companies that provide such great support to their customers. That is a rarity these days in my opinion.

Subscription not working, unable to get support, VERY frustrated!!!. I am paying for the premium subscription so I won’t have ads, and I can supposedly seamlessly import my bank statements and none of it is working. You can’t get a hold of the developer or actually get any help. They only have help listed as articles, and I can’t get online like I used to do use it on my desktop either. What the heck happened? I have 10 years of data in that app and it’s not working and I don’t like the new interface at all. It’s so much more difficult to pull up reports and just look at the history of a vendor. I need this to work for my taxes and I don’t know what to do.

Old version doesn’t work, can’t access new version. Happily used Pocket Money for many years, but it doesn’t work since iOS upgraded to version 14.5. I downloaded the new version but it would not accept my registration or send a validation email — and even if I could use the new version, I’m unable to open the old version and export my data. And no support since I can’t register the new version, so a poor review is the only way to try and get help from the developers. :-(

Need Help. I have been using this app successfully for at least 10 years for all of my accounts. With the new iOS this week, the version I have no longer works. I have downloaded the new version but cannot get the data to load. I have a backup about a month old. It is a .sql file. How do I get this to load into the new version? The directions given in your help do not work. I am not able to log on to your support. I would like to put a ticket in. I have the .sql file from my latest backup, but am unable to do anything with it.

Doesn’t surprise me😪. I had the original since it beginning. Through the years, it was updated and changed into an app that I literally couldn’t live without. It doesn’t surprise me that the new developers made changes. That should have been expected. But what’s completely disheartening is that they destroyed an awesome app and replaced it with something that I personally find useless. There is nothing similar to the original. With so many supporters writing negative reviews, I’m blown away that they have done anything to restore what so many users loved. They could have added something to an app that was nearly perfect and people would have more than likely upgraded for a fee. But instead, they tanked it. Hello developers!!! Hello!!!

Used to be perfect. I had been using Pocket Money for 10 years. I was in the app daily and couldn’t recommend it enough. When getting a new phone in December, the app wasn’t available in the App Store so I lost EVERYTHING! I’ve tried 20 different apps and none compared to pocket money because there was too much detail and options. Not a simple register. While still researching over a month later, I find that Pocket Money is available again and highly updated. The font is so teeny and faint or bolder up with red/green, it’s almost impossible to read. I hoped that getting rid of the ads might change the screen appearance but I can’t do that without an account. I have requested three verification emails and still haven’t received one. I even checked my spam folders. I can’t get support without an account and can’t get an account without help from support... see where I’m going with this? The old app was perfect and I would have gladly given it 5 stars.

Its a good App after all. After giving it some thoughts and time I finally like this app. Not bad after all, to be honest I love it. I hope they simplify stuff but anyways just give it some effort, once you get the hang of it you will definitely will love this App!! 4 Star because you need to really dive in to it to enjoy its intent.. I hope this helps.

Can’t Get In. I’ve been using Pocket Money for a decade, and this morning I tried to open the app and was told it wasn’t updated for the new iOS. Went to the App Store and discovered a newer version I had never been informed existed. Downloaded the new version and tried to figure out how to import info from the old version. Was told I had to log in to access tech support. Set up an account and the password I chose wasn’t recognized. Clicked to reset password and never received the link. (Yes I checked the junk folders.) So now I have two versions of the app, cannot access my decade’s worth of data and have no way to contact tech support. I’m exactly 24 hours away from scrapping the whole thing and starting over with a new app. Update: Was told to check the spam folder for the reset link. Did you read what I wrote?

Cannot read the tiny font. Developers- I’ve been a PocketMoney user from the beginning and I do miss the simplicity of the old version. But I also appreciate the added power and features in the new version even though I do not use any of them. I only use the app as an on the fly check register as I pay bills and get cash. At year end I download data to list all transactions by category for tax purposes. So I have learned to navigate the new app and keep it simple for my purposes. The one area I cannot solve is the tiny fonts. I cannot read my balances and need to take a screen picture and expand it to read the balance. While it may be my eyes, this is the only app I have this issue and find it odd that a financial app does not place more visual focus on the balance amount. If there is a way to increase font or darken the balance in the app I cannot find it. And if not, is it possible to add such a feature?

That is the end ...😢. Update: I thought I should give it a go and decided to update to the new PocketMoney version. The update screwed up my balance and all transactions are now called just "transaction" with now reference to the vendor - I can't figure out how to export transactions in spreadsheet format and can't figure out how to show the budget. I deleted PocketMoney from my iPhone for good. I would give this app "zero" stars if I could. What a shame! Glad that I had a finance/budget backup app I'm going to use from now. In my view the developer breaches Apple's developer guideline as the new version of the app is not add-free for existing users and doesn't offer the same functionality without subscribing. 😢

A fine app ruined: here’s how I “downgraded”. Persevered for a week or so, but have now reverted to the previous version (PM2) with its clean, compact interface. Try this if, like me, you “upgraded” to the new PocketMoney without checking the reviews first! 1. I retrieved the most recent un-upgraded PM database (PocketMoneyDB.sql) from an iTunes backup of my iPhone SE using the iPhone Backup Extractor app 2. I dropped this file into the PM2 Documents folder on my phone using iTunes File Sharing and synced. Left other files as is. 3. Opened PM2: worked perfectly. Unfortunately I didn’t make a phone backup immediately before this “upgrade”, but what I have is recent enough. I prefer to re-enter some missing transactions than to continue with this horrible, clumsy and unintuitive new version app. A further note: the old Pocket Money Desktop app won’t work with Mojave or Catalina :( So I’m needing to use PMD on an older laptop. But I only use PMD occasionally (a few times a year) so that’s not too arduous. Obviously none of this represents a longterm solution, but at least I have a functional app that does what I need it to while I scout around for a replacement. I used to recommend PocketMoney highly and was a loyal user/purchaser. No more. This new version is completely unrecognisable. In fact, as someone else has pointed out, it’s closer to a direct rip-off of iCompta than it is to the original PM :( On a purely practical note, the interface of this new app cannot accommodate the smaller iPhone SE screen, to the point of some functions actually being unusable/inaccessible.

Love it! So glad it's back!. When the old developer of this app stopped updating it, I looked around and tried heaps of other apps to try to replace it. None of them came close to the functionality of this one and I continued to sued them only because there wasn't another option as good as this one. It's got lots of little features that just make it easier to use. I'm so glad it's back!

New version is a significant downgrade. Just upgraded to the latest version (2.0). Wow! What a bad decision that was! Having an ad supported app is one thing, but having ads appear in the middle of your transaction list, is just a horrible experience. Forcing people to watch an ad (or buy a subscription to remove ads), just to perform a backup, is incredibly annoying! There also doesn’t appear to be anyway to lock the app anymore. You also can’t adjust the font size to make it easier to read. The overall (new) design is also pretty ugly. I wish there was a way to downgrade to the previous version 😢😢😢 Update: After trying to use this new version for a few days, I can honestly say the usability is horrible. It’s significantly more difficult to use than the old version. There’s so many issues! If you perform a search in your transactions, you end up seeing duplicate transactions. If you go to add a transaction but then decide you want to cancel, you can’t, so you end up with a bunch of zero dollar transactions you have to manually delete. I’ve just finished exporting my data (which also horrible as it doesn’t label acct transfers properly). I’ve now installed Accounts Tracker Pro and will be using that from now on. There’s so many issues with PocketMoney, and unless they start with fixing up the UI, it’ll never be as useful or as easy to use, as it used to be. You’ve destroyed what was once a really useful app, one that I’ve been using for about 8yrs. 😢

It’s ok......but....... Didn’t really like the way this app was changed so radically and now I have to watch advertisements after paying twice over the years. Pretty low ethics but that’s the way things are now. I will get used to everything new in time but currently whenever I try to use the Scheduler option everything crashes. I hope someone can repair this problem.

Worst update ever !. The 2.0 update is not working for me. Too complicated and confusing. Now I can’t even search for a transaction or display “All Transactions” like before. How do I downgrade to the last version (1.3x something .. ) ???

This new update is NOT user friendly. I used to like this app but not it’s just a nightmare to use - the new update is not user friendly!!! There is no way to change the settings - the balance is hard to see with white numbers against a light green highlight...

So Sad. App has taken a turn for the worst. A once paid app has turned “free”... with ads and a subscription model, but even worse, it’s not functional even more. Its sad to see what the original developer’s great work and vision (RIP Hardy) has turned to, the new owners obviously just don’t care and are milking Hardy’s legacy.

Can I please have the old version back?. This new version is so over complicated! I want the old version back that I paid for! This is just absolutely horrendous. I’ve gone from taking 2 seconds to add a new transaction to a convoluted process. Where is the round up option? I now have to manually add the two transactions. It’s ridiculous. Have been using this app for years and now it’s pretty much useless.

So Disappointed! (Found a way out! See last para.). I have been a very long time user of PocketMoney, using it on a Palm device long before there was an App Store. I have always been very happy with the app in all it’s incarnations - until now! Now I am getting advertisements, and gambling ads at that! I despise ads in apps, and I had paid for this app a number of times before this poor update was imposed on me unexpectedly. How dare the developer presume that I want gambling ads! And how dare you make such drastic changes to a program and force it on us as a simple update without any warning! It should be another program with a new name. It has changed dramatically how it works and some things I am at the point of giving up on. I have almost two decades of history recorded which is now in danger because this app has mucked things up for me. I will now look for another app. Also, I have tried to contact the developers but they refuse to deal with anyone other than a gold subscriber. Yet I have paid for the app!! Then they have the nerve to ask that we don’t give a poor rating because it will ruin their business! They are ruining their own business and a much loved app by not listening and being so pushy. I despair. :( ******* For those who may have paid for a 2016 version of PocketMoney called PM2, I found I could still download it from my list of purchased apps. I used my Mac to copy an unchanged database across, updated the records to be current and now I am happily running the old version until I work out a better solution. ********

Ruined. I’m in agreement with the majority of reviews here. Since it was “rewritten”, abysmal is not a low enough description of what the app has become. Have previously used it for a decade. Fortunate enough to have kept an old phone with the original version, and keeping the phone alive purely for this app. The available version is nothing more than a money grab from the new developer. The attitude towards users is also abysmal. Hopefully karma does its stuff.

Revised Opinion. Since money has become so tight during this awful Covid-19 period, my friends have been asking me how my financial affairs have been so controlled. I have showed several friends my Old version of PocketMoney and they have all agreed what a fantastic app it used to be. I am so pleased I have your previous version, as this update is rubbish. Is there a chance you could release it under another name as you would have many new customers?

Update Fail. Have been using this app since prior to the ownership changing hands. Unfortunately the new version is unable to update my older database for use on the new version. It continually reports an error message. Hopefully this issue can be fixed.

Ok, it’s now working!. I’ve used pocket money for about 10 years, it was a great system. The recent upgrade appears to have enhanced it, but the upgrade happened automatically and caused major issues..all my data went across, but it changed base currencies, and lost a budget. Now that it’s working again, new system seems great.. downside is that input is a little more complex, I can’t contact the support team, and the cost of annual sub is a bit high.

Unwanted update ruins records. Most of the issues have been noted on other reviews. The essential issue for me was that without warning an app I paid for in-full years ago was radically changed to a point where it was non recognizable. Add the stuff-up on the transition of accounts and an inability to access previous info prior to conversion and the result is that, without warning, my simple and reliable accounting app became a error prone behemoth of complexity which is largely ruined years worth of transactions and record keeping. In all fairness how can you trust the app moving forward given the extensive effort now needed by the user to make it function on a basic level. Moreover how can you trust any app produced through App Store if they can seemingly rewrite there apps instead of producing new versions. And to make matters worse they are offering extra support to those that give 5 star ratings. The irony is thick. Very disappointed. UPDATE: I just spent days reworking my records and attempting to fix broken records with limited success. I then synced with my iPad and the app randomly deleted a half dozen of my categories. So not only a bad redesign but glitchy as well. Congrats on your 25th anniversary edition. Ruined my holiday season.

This app just went backwards. The original should have been kept and this been installed as a new version if we wanted it. Bring back the Hardy version please. Not at all happy with the new direction this app has taken...

Finance Manager’s best friend. Been using the old version on my iPhone 4 that has been kept just for this app. Finally decided to get the new version and was pleasantly surprised that migrating old data to the new phone and version was a piece of cake. Love the new built in way to export/import over WiFi as opposed to having to use SyncDocs.

Messy app. Completely rewritten and nothing like the original, only the icon is the same. The rest is a mess.

Always loved this app, not any more. Just updated to version 2. I’ve use this app for many years, what a mistake. The app is difficult to use and not logical. It used to be do simple and straight forward 😞.

Avoid at all costs. The previous version of the app was excellent and I used it to record both personal and business expenses for around 7 years. It backed up to iCloud and I was able to meet all legal obligations in regards record keeping for tax purposes. Then there was the forced upgrade. I cannot comment on the functionality because it is of no use to me. I cannot access my old backups, despite the assurances I should be able to. I now have to waste weeks, perhaps months, to re-record these expenses. If you use it now, there is no reason why you will not be in this position in a few years time. Fool me once ...

Does the developer even use their own app?. PocketMoney was a rare gem once upon a time. It did something simple so well - an intuitive interface that lets you enter individual transactions, and an effective database system that lets you filter, search and summarise your income and expense. I used PM to do my manual entry once a month while referring to credit card statements, copy and paste some repeat transactions, and set up recurrent bills. That’s it. I loved PM so much and I would have kindly paid a monthly subscription for the old app. With the rewrite by the new developer it has gotten almost unusable for my purpose. Yes it has gained many more “business” features eg billing, tax etc. However the basic features have now gone to the drain. Entering the date is clunky, duplicating a transaction is clunky, repeat transaction is clunky. Transferring from one account to another is titled “new transaction” instead of the destination account name. The setting button doesn’t give you the overall setting screen, the real setting page is mysteriously hidden at the bottom of the account list. I don’t know why someone would take something that works and then butcher it, but this is precisely what this current developer has done. I wonder if he even uses this new version, because if he did he would surely know how much of an inferior unusable app this is. I have since moved on to another app (tried close to 10 and now settled with PocketBook with manual importation of OFX file instead of linking to bank due to my paranoia about sharing bank credentials). Unfortunately u haven’t found something that does what the old pocketmoney did so well, and it’s what upset me the most about this butchery. The developer should be ashamed for his betrayal of the previous buyers.

New owner, same great app. I have been using the previous app for many years, (even put up with the buggy one during the time when the late great Hardy passed) and purchased the upgrade when it was temporarily resurrected. That version was still quite buggy but workable and still better than alternatives I had tried. When my google search came up with the post that it had been given a breath of life once again by Mr GT I purchased it again. My thinking being that at least there might be a possibility of it being updated and the asking price was less than a cup of coffee, so worth the risk. I am glad I did. Now I have an app that pretty much works just like it always has but without the bugs. Plus a developer that is updating and informing users of the status. Keep up the good work.

Long time user to short time. Like others who have been loyal happy users of this app, I am appalled at the gouging of money from year users. “Free” version is unusable as the ads are overpowering. Besides this it used to be a simple app to use now it’s more complex and like buying a whole new app to learn and that’s what I’m going to do as this update was just a big con.

Warning!!! Not compatible with old file.. I’ve just lost 5 years of accounts information with this upgrade. Unable to access original file, comes up with ERROR and a string of error codes. Unable to restore from the drop box backup and stupid ads at every move. What a way to destroy what was a fantastic accounting software!!!

Hate the latest update.. Help I want version 1.1.9 back. The latest version is not as user friendly as the earlier version.

New Pocket Money. The entry interface is very plain but effective. No Sign of dark mode. Able to convert from the old style quite easily. However a lot of my old data base is missing, ability to store photos (my old photo receipts gone) and my old comments. All that came across on conversion was the bare bones, categories and maths. Categories are now not automatic as they were in the old version.The loss of the photo feature particularly troubling. I hope the team can quickly update the database conversion and restore photo feature. Basically ok. Cannot get a verify email even with the address being correct. Try to alphabetise categories, crashes on my iPad 6th gen. Needs the old photo feature. Fixed the pi charts, thank you, but bar chart no. Still easy to use once you get used to it. Will get more stars with improvements.

My love of this app has plummeted. Well, as with all the other reviewers that are panning the « fantastic » and « free » upgrade...I give this a big thumbs down and will no doubt move to another app. It is too complex and during my first synchronisation from IPad to IPhone every existing entry was randomly changed (e.g. a debit entry of $3000 became an entry of $23,000!) such that I can’t even work out how to fix it. Who knows if I can revert to a backup. It’s all too much bother and way to go to piss people off who paid for the app originally. EPIC FAIL

Unbelievable. I can only agree with the previous review. A simple and unique app has been turned into something no one wants. I have been the greatest supporter of the initial version but this is really a new product and should have been presented as such. They have ruined twelve months of records which before I could easily export to reckon personal plus. It appears this feature is no where to be found. Goodbye to Reckon, goodby to PocketMoney. Such a damn shame.

This Used To Be A Good App - Now Horrid. I upgraded my iPad and was very unhappy to discover my PocketMoney app was not available - it had been removed from the Apple store and replaced by a new version. I bought and paid for this App previously, I own it and I want it back. I backed up my old iPad and was shocked to find that the App I had supposedly backed up was no longer available. The new App is a sad sad version of the previous one - functionality is extremely diminished. For instance I can’t even display the current balance of my accounts, only whatever future balance based on future entered transactions. This means I cannot enter future transactions and understand balance impacts easily. The layout is also very poor - smaller font is hard to read and colours make it even harder. Can I please have my old App back. I bought and paid for it - where is it? I will be reporting this to Apple.

Old Version Pls. Updated Dec 21, 2019. The rating for this app literal dropped from a near perfect 5* to under 2* in 48hrs for release 2.0. I really think Dev need to bring back the old version (before the clear/pending filter bug) and make this version 2 a separate app. I’ve paid for version 1 twice actually (believe ownership changed) and I’d be willing to pay again $6.99 to get it back. I don’t understand how Apple allows this. Customers paid for an original app and should be able to keep it. This new version is completely different, subscription base with ads and free to download now. This makes no sense. As a developer/business please listen to your client user base and act! Expend your app options but have both old and new available. The interface and complete feel of 2.0 is totally different and can be stand alone. —- Hi Dev, can I pls get the previous version? I paid for that app and don’t like the new one nor the ads. The interface on the old was suited well and was functional. All FX currencies loaded, icon for accounts, ability to add tickets directly from acct screen (+) feature. Point being, the old version was paid, $6.99 if I’m not mistaken. Clunky and buggy. Difficult to navigate. Average interface. Not user friendly. Some bugs need to be ironed out. I deleted the app because it was a waste of my time.

Lost app to latest IOS update. The stars are because the app no longer works. Previously, l would have given it 5 stars. I have used this app for years - easy to navigate, dependable to use. But with the most recent iPhone update, IOS 14.6, the app has been rendered useless. I cannot open it and I cannot get support help. I have years of information I need to access. I cannot be the only one with this issue. Developers, are you listening? Can we please have fix? Help, please!

Ad ruined this app. I have PM2, but this new version got ruined by ad. It’s better if you purchase the app separately.

Unfair business practices. I have paid for this app twice. Once for the original purchase and secondly when I think someone else took it over. Now with this update there is advertising and I am now being asked to pay a third time on a subscription. Not fair, the silver level subscription doesn’t even remove all the ads. The new version is confusing and unusable. I’ll be looking for a new solution which is a shame as before the most recent update, it was great.

NOT Impressed At All with the New Version. No warning was given on the new version of the app. With it being a complete revision and new app, it should NOT have overwritten the old version. This is an accounting app and some of us use it daily to track expenses, sales tax, and pull reports, and export all accounts to a csv file to work in excel. The new version should be a completely separate app from the old version and allow the old version to still be functional. The new version does not allow for creation of reports and does not allow export of all accounts to a csv file. It’s totally useless to me now and I paid for this app (the older version). Plus there’s Ads everywhere. NOT Cool!!! Looks like I’ll have to move to Quicken or Quickbooks.

PocketMoney. I have used this app for several years after trying many others. I will admit the upgrade was a bit to get used to but I wouldn’t be without it for up to date balances now.

Disappointing but find out it was from another developer not the on available now.. Had this for years then after an iOS update I kept getting message that its designer needed to upgrade. Lost everything. It was a great app. Thanks for responding to my review but I have found another app and started working with it. Great customer service however.

A great app just went down the toilet... I’ve been using this app since 2010 and have loved it. It was intuitive to use, easy on the eyes and very functional. With version 2, it seems the programmers are trying to do too much and it’s now unusable IMHO.. Add to that the pop up ads, monthly subscription fees and what was once great is now trash. I would have given it zero stars if I could! Wishing I had NEVER updated. I wish I could go back to the previous app, but it’s not possible. Time to start looking elsewhere. Too bad; It WAS a great app. You should have left it alone!

Happy to Have on iPhone X. I had delayed upgrading the old Pocket Money and was very concerned when I (obviously) couldn’t use it on iOS 11. I was readily able to migrate all my historical data to OM GT and am so happy to have it back as one of my key apps! I truly hope the developer continues to update - it is an incredibly useful tool.

Very disappointed in 2.0. I was very happy with my old Pocketmoney, which I'd used for years. Solid app! Had to upgrade last year due to ios incompatibility. New developers, but same basic, super useful app. Yes it was a pain to pay for the upgrade, but not a big pain. The big pain came when I opened v2.0 yesterday: ugly interface, ads, expensive, ugh! How do I get version 1 back?

Total garbage!. Like other users, I too have have been using this for 7 years but am so frustrated now.... the old version was perfect for my needs while this one is confusing as hell. I will not be paying to use it. We should have been given the option to upgrade. They’ve wasted HOURS of my life as I now have to find another suitable app. So much historical data in that old app! I’m furious and feel robbed! Hate, HATE, H A T E this new version. And right before Christmas too, thanks for that!

New look, corrupted data, no support unless you pay. I was honestly, going to give the new product a chance. After the shock and surprise to find out that the app had been installed to overwrite my existing app I was upset because it meant that I couldn’t synchronize my devices before leaving for work. Instead, I let it go and spent the better part of today trying to figure out how to work the app and make it do what I wanted it to do, putting up with the random ads in the middle of my work. When I got home, I figured that I’d try to synchronize my devices again using the new way of doing things and it completely trashed my data file on both systems, losing all my unsynchronized data and making the file unusable. Looking at the model, you have pay for a gold level subscription if you are expecting any help with the product at all. And having dealt with their service desk before this, you won’t get what you are paying for. This was released on the 25th anniversary of the original launch of the product and, for me, it’s the final nail in the coffin. If you are a new user of the product, you might be happy with it. If you’ve used it for years, odds are good that you are going to be upset. I will be investigating other options at this point because, frankly, after being told that the bugs would be fixed for years and then get this shipped out, I’d have continued to live with the bugs.

Do NOT buy this app if. I’ve been using this app very happily for 8 years, until recently. The old app does not work with the new IOS update and despite raising a ticket on their site and several messages on their FB wall, the company did nothing to help. Initially I lost years of data, which after days of work, I was able to recover but am very frustrated I was put in that situation and Pocket Money did zero to help. If you have the old app be very, very careful about updating your iOS.

Must look for another financial app. Very disappointed. Have been using this app since 2010. The new version needs so much more work before being close to the level of the previous app. Unfortunately the originator of this great app has passed away... and now it is time to move on. I have tried for several days to work with it. It is tedious. Always opens to Year 2011, not 2019. Cannot see full amounts. Balance is too small. Cannot widen or narrow columns to suit me. Settings very limited regarding posting of repeating payments or deposits. Not user friendly compared to the previous versions of this app. This should be sold under a new name and then allowed to die. Using the PocketMoney name will not extend its life forever. If you want my opinion, the previous version should be resurrected and do charge a fee if you need to keep it going. It is worth money. It was an excellent app. This new version is not worth much and its use will fade away. I shall switch to another financial application now; something more reliable.

Could be great. I have now been using the updated version since it came out (had no choice), and have come to understand most of it now. In my opinion, this has the potential of being a really good app. You really have to spend quite a bit of time playing with it and figuring out how it works, but once you do, you will find that it can do all that the original version did plus more, and in most cases will give you more information and quicker. Many new things makes this version much easier to use. The desktop version especially is very good. However, there is room for improvement and some issues that need to be addressed. I was initially one of many who didn’t like what they did, but am glad that I persisted with it, and now am happy with 90% of it.

Upgrade Already. Come on guys, when are you going to fix it! I would have left my old iOS on if I knew PM2 won’t work. I love the app and used it since 2008. My data is piling up and I’m weeks behind now. Thanks and counting on you.

Worse that previous version. I suppose it depends how you want to use this app by from my perspective this is a downgrade from the previous version. The UI is a mess. It’s lost the simplicity and clean functionality of the previous version. It should have been a separate app rather than an upgrade - it’s moved that far from the original. I have pretty much abandoned using it. The developer should have consulted a business analyst. You don’t add functionality just because you’re able to; it has to make the app better. Need old version back. I agree with the other reviewers. After upgrading I could not open / import my file until today’s update. Once I could finally open my file I found the interface to be very confusing just to enter a transaction. I too paid for the previous versions and find that this should have been a separate app in the store. Please bring back the old version as that worked well for my needs. ****** BRING BACK the old version ASAP as I am falling behind in entering my expenses! The OLD app worked well and the interface was much nicer and easier to use! *******

NOT a better version of original PM. If you think that PM GT is a better version of original PM you are wrong. These are the reasons: - Display of the Account/ Reports are cut horizontally in the middle (iPad Version - iOS 9.3.5). I made sure that PM GT Product information was compatible with my iOS. - Display of the Dates in Budgets are not visible/ changeable. You are stuck with the current month budget. Similar when you are adding a transaction. Pending/ Cleared/All options are cut horizontally (iPad Version) - iPad version does not have Server Option to Sync. It only can be used as a Client. I used to have in my iPad the server and in the iPhone the Client version. Hence, repeating transactions cannot be used in the iPad. - When editing a transaction, editing icons are not in the same place. If you got used to add a transaction (+) which was at the far left in PM, In PM GT is now in the middle. Who would have thought? Also when you are in the transaction itself you have the icon on the far right instead of icon. There is a lack of consistency with the place of the icons. Most common icons should be place at the far left. This is very very annoying. - option when Adding a transaction is not shown. Workaround, you will need to click on the eye (bottom right) and go back to make it visible. - Date of the transaction is a scroll option instead of a calendar view. I am back using original PM. What a waste of PocketMoney.

We’re done here. PM once did a good job of crossplatform sync, which has been junked in latest version. New free version looks like it offers a lot but much of it is only for paid account.

Dislike the Update. The new update sucks! It went from an easy app for tracking finances to a stupid app that has changed all my categories and how they work. Very hard to understand and they got rid of the “search for a transaction function”!!! Will probably stop using it as it is hurting my brain to try and figure out! 😡 Not sure what app I should switch to.

Formerly a Terrific personal finance app. I used PocketMoney for several years, but this latest update - long overdue - is awful. It wouldn’t load my data file, producing a massive and incomprehensible error message and then wouldn’t let me do anything. Much of the functionality in my previous paid version now is only available with subscriptions and the interface is impossible to figure out. If any of this had been explained, I could have decided not to upgrade. I’m done with this app. What a shame.

Horrible. In 2008 I downloaded the app Pocket Money, and have used it for the last 11 years... it WAS wonderful, organized, most of all, easy to use. In December 2019, they updated it...they’ll tell you it was to make it better & add features. What it actually did was make it nearly impossible to use, changed the look of the app to something worse, and added advertisements. The app is virtually unusable. Impossible to do what previously was easy. They make a great app crappy. I can only hope they realize what they have done & go back to the previous version, but I know that will never happen. I will begin looking for a better money app immediately. Too bad all my historical data will now be useless. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP. Dave Swanson

Lack of support. My phone just updated & now cannot access the app. All of my information is lost. I am livid. Unable to retrieve it, cannot even get into the app. The only “support” available has to be accessed from within the app. I loved this app, use it daily for several years Can support please contact me please

Less than one star. My husband and I have been using this app for years. We have recommended it to many. The update has a the least ruined the organization and simplicity of this app and at worst , this update has literally stolen the version I paid for. I wonder that the Apple store does not take action. I also was aghast at the response one review got from the developer that was nothing less than blackmail : Give 5 stars and we will give you support! We will be looking for a new budgeting App. You are losing some very loyal customers. No stars and lost all your word of mouth support.

Do Not Purchase. Updated to the latest iOS version yesterday. I can no longer open the app to access the several years of data I have. Communicating with the developer is next to impossible. At this point I cannot open the previous version of the app that I have and need to install the new version. Based on not being able to open the previous version I cannot export any data. Don't even download the so called "free version," unless you want trouble!. I have been using PocketMoney apps for over 10 years and the only reason I stayed was inability to find an app that would easily convert my PM file with data since 1986. Every app change has caused serious functionality issues and headaches. In 2018, despite buying the premium version previously, I had to yet again buy a new premium version to retain previous functionality. Today, they forced out an update that renders your database unreadable, and to fix it, you have to start over from new and subscribe to one of several instalment plans. This company is clearly myopic and focused on profit. To force you into a subscription instead if giving you the option to keep you purchased app, albeit with limited support, and render your database unusable, is unprofessional, unethical, and dishonest. Minus 5 stars. You have been warned.

PocketMoney 2 real bad folks. Was very useful until the new version now it is confusing and there is NO manual. The Help is no help, it is a totally different program, and there’s zero orientation to the new features. I would pay(again) to have the old program back! As it is, I’ll have to search for another money management program.

The new update is horrendous. Used this app for years and LOVED it. The “update” is more of a complete - and useless - redesign. Hate everything about it. So many terrible design decisions. Apparently designers don’t use their own app. Searching for an alternative.

Looking for a new app ASAP !. The previous version of this app (pre iOS 13) was a five star in my opinion. I had used it for years and was extremely happy with it. Since the iOS update I have had nothing but frustration (and ads)with this new version. I had paid for the full features of the original app and now am forced to watch ads throughout my ledger. I am using an older iPad with an older iOS just so I can keep using the original app until I can find a suitable replacement. What a major disappointment !!!

Totally Garbage!. The old version which I used for several years was great - simple and intuitive; plus I had purchased it. Now, I was automatically ‘upgraded’ to the new free version, without my asking for it. The new version is horrible, not to mention that the developer wants me to pay for a monthly subscription for this garbage, and has removed from my phone the previous version which had been purchased!!!

PocketMoney. I have been using this app for about 5 years now. I wouldn’t be without it. It’s very easy to use and really keeps me on track with my finances. Keep up the great work! It’s worth every dime to me!!

An acquired taste, but worth it. Having been a PocketMoney user for two decades, I was skeptical of the new version. Initial impressions were not favourable; cluttered interface, complicated UI. I stuck with it because the other finance apps were even worse. Eventually I got used to it, and really enjoyed features like syncing to desktop. Now, after one year, it has become one of my most-used and reliable apps. I still think the UI needs work (like duplicating transaction on iOS), but this app is highly recommended!

New version too complicated set up. I was an avid user of the original PocketMoney, and now it seems too complicated - even the set up is not as straightforward. I cancelled my subscription but can’t seem to find someone to contact for a Refund. Sometimes improving or adding more features isn’t always “better” for ease of use.

Kane711. Please bring back the old version. I have used PM for many years and I still do. I never deleted it and it works perfectly. I use it at least 4 or 5 times a day. It’s down and dirty, quick and efficient and I can’t imagine being without it. I have never found anything anywhere near as good. You guys really need to get your heads out of the sand and listen to the reviews.

I’m angry. Talk about spinning in circles…I’ve used PM for years and now with the new iOS update it went black, not even recognized. They give proposed solutions, but they’re all so complicated I may as well go back to college. Even tho I have items in there I will need come tax time, I’ve all but given up. I’ll have to spend days reconstituting from my bank and credit card accounts…thanks a lot.

Hate this new version. I have used pocket money since it first came out 10 + years ago. This new version is awful. It’s not really user friendly. The layout is much messier and less clear than the old version. I would pay $10 a year for the tried and true version, even though I initially paid for the app, but will not be paying for this one. So disappointed.

Upgrade to a new phone. I am upgrading g from the iPhone 8 Plus to the 11. When I backup my cloud and upload the iCloud to my new phone will all my transaction still be there or will everything be gone?

Pocket Money Amazing. I have used the App for 7 years and without problems, it fits almost any need for money management, card management and so on, perhaps budget management can be simplified and I would like them to add a bills reminder

Need a bigger font styling. I have been an on and off user of Pocket Money. Since the original developer started. I like what I see but the small font is too small.

Horrible and no support. Used the old version since the early 2000's originally on a PDA. Now I've lost all data and all get is to turn in a support ticket. I can't even log into the current version. Try and reset my password and never get an email. A once great app is now total garbage.

Locked Out from Years of Data. I have been a user of the original for many years. Now, with the most recent iOS update, I am locked out of the original app and years of financial data. I had the original set to backup on iCloud but do not understand how to access and transfer that data to the new version of the Pocket Money app. The developer’s copy and paste “help” is useless.

Old Version Retired!. Long time user and love the app but I never switched over to the more updated version of the App and now the old version cannot be opened on the latest iOS. Help! Online instructions not helpful.

Bad App Scheduler Doesn’t Function. First of the month and the scheduler just resets the item for the following month and doesn’t add to account. Developer contacted. I followed the directions, still just resets the payment for the next month. I deleted all scheduled transactions and began fresh. Still no go just a reset. This is sad. 😔

Not working, no help. I had to reset my phone back to factory. Most apps were backed up to the cloud, as was PM. However, I tried to login with last known password, didn’t. So I’m sent for reset link - after weeks I’m still waiting. I want to restore my Gold membership as well, that doesn’t work either. I don’t like the newest version, but it’s tolerable. I will be looking elsewhere if no help gets emailed to me.

No support help!. This use to be a great checkbook. With the recent iSO update I am locked out and have been trying to contact them for help. Their support site either has been disabled or they don’t care. I paid for this and I can’t get in contact with anyone to get them to update my PocketMoney to the new iSO. I give a huge thumbs down!!!!

Old app not supported.. I have been using pocket money since 2011. Paid for app. I updated my phone to new softerware and the app is no longer supported. I can’t retrieve any of my old account info to import it to the new app. No indication that the app wouldn’t work with new up date or I would have emailed. There is no one to contact for help. I loved the old pocket money app and now must start from scratch. Very sad and disappointed. If some one can help please.

Best Personal Finance App. I’ve used it since it became available. Even suggested many of the early improvement still available in the latest versions. Love it!

I need my old info. All of my info from the last version is gone with no warning. I tried to log onto the new version to get help,But it says I can’t until I start a new account. So I try to start a new account, and it says wait for your verification email, but it’s been two hours and I have not gotten a verification email. I hate PocketMoney for this

Trash. This new app is trash, and this new developer seems to have successfully petitioned to have older versions of the app, like PM2, removed from the App Store entirely. I will never, ever, under any circumstance, use an app from this developer again. I’d rather go back to using an actual paper checking register. Will not work with IOS 14.5. When will this be fixed. Been with this app for a number of years and do not want to go to another check app.

Dropping Transactions. Took awhile to believe it. I type in my transaction at the gas pump and put the mileage in the comments (we don’t pump our own in Oregon so have time to twiddle). Reconciling with my credit card, the gas transaction from the day before is gone. Re-entering the data, the mileage comment is auto-filled so I’m not imagining I entered my purchase. The one thing a banking app needs to do reliably is to track debits & credits and this app fails - JUST FAILS. I don’t trust it to even do the math correctly anymore. Moving on after 10+ years. This app will go down in Apple history as the worst change in direction ever. “Shame” on you new developers - time to walk amongst the mob naked.

App Developer-needs to app to new iOS. I have used this for years and when my iPad updated to latest version, I can no longer open the app. It says the developers need to update to work on the latest iOS.

At first I didnt like this new pocket money. But after using it a year now I love the new pocket money. It is positively the tool I need today on my phone which I combine with quickbooks on my computer to cross reference my money. Thanks to developers for making it better

Hate it. If I could give less than one star I would. I used the old app for years. It was fantastic. Then the new owners came up with this mess. I paid for the first year in hopes that I could find something to like about the new version. I quit using it after a few months. Unbelievable that they would take a good app and totally destroy it. Going by all of the bad reviews I’m not alone.

I’m paying for the Premium Membership. But I can’t get my iPhone to restore purchases and it can’t get my bank to come up.

The first version was better. The first version of this app was great. Then, they released this pocket 2.0. Now they have stopped updating the old version so I had to upgrade. This new version is horrible. Not user friendly. Super small font. Screen is very very cluttered and difficult to simply see your debits and credits. The reports are useless. Please bring back your first version.

App has been ruined. I’ve been using the old Pocket Money for 10 years and couldn’t live without it. It was the perfect app - easy to use, but with all the features I needed. Then along comes iOS 14.5, and Pocket Money is broken. So I decide to try this ‘new and improved’ version and it’s a disaster. Entering a transaction takes 10X longer than it used to. The font is so tiny I need a magnifying glass to read it. In a nutshell, this app has been “fixed to death”. I’d pay almost anything to see someone fix PM 2.0. I’m disgusted. I have 10 years worth of transactions that have been randomly tinkered with, renamed, and no longer in balance, and I have no idea where the errors are.

So many lost features. Although the new version is not bad but the previous version had so many better features. I wonder why would a company buy a product to remove some of its many important features

ALL INFO LOST. I have had this app for years and have recommended it to others. There was a new IOS update yesterday and I have lost all access to the app. This is ridiculous that I can’t access my money numbers until the developer updates the app. Very disappointed.

Don’t do it. This is NOTHING like the original version. Plus they charge you for things you were getting free before. I paid for premium service to be able to enable my bank transactions to load automatically but you are not given the instructions on how to do this correctly. Poorly done!

Please update the Cert. I followed your advice to save the last release of PocketmoneyGT right before this new update however I can no longer install that .ipa as Apple gives an error stating the App owner must update the app. This started recently for me. Your new app still has zero functionality with Windows, please at least make it so the cert for this older version can be installed again.

Can’t recover data from old version. I had PAID version of PM2. No longer accessible after iOS 14.6 update. Unable to recover data from previous version. Much more complicated to use with “new” (unnecessary) features. Ad banner is especially annoying, and no option, even paid version, to remove ads

Overly Frustrated. I have PocketMoney 2, which no longer exists, that I paid to upgrade from the free version. I recently upgraded my phone and now my app is useless. My data is stored in my iCloud but have no idea how to downgrade and restore. I should have been notified that this version was being abandoned and given options. Also how can you request help if the only way to access support is through an app I cannot open?

Bring back the old version.. I wish I had never updated to the new version. I have been using Pocket Money for years. I bought it because I wanted something simple and easy to use. This new version is awful. I have tried to use it and adapt but I hate it. I’ve changed to a different app now, but for your sake, please restore the old version and fire whoever wanted to mess with such a solid app.

Some bug with the updated ios 14.4. I love this app and I use it for long-long time but yesterday my phone got updated to latest ios 14.4 and now the application can not open! I hope that it will get fix very soon!

Great App.. When I renewed my subscription, many ads suddenly appeared. But suddenly the issue is resolved. The ads appeared to have disappeared. A good app. Easy to use, and have been using it for years.

Not compatible with new IOS update. The support feature for this app is flawed. My I-Phone updated and the app now does not work with the update. But the only way to report a problem is THROUGH the app that no longer works!!!! Very disappointing. Will be switching to another provider.

I miss the old version. This one is too complicated. I miss the old version. It was super simple to use. This version is way more complicated, I can’t post my recurring transactions using a date range. I used to be able to post my paycheck and then post my recurring bills with a date range and see exactly how much money I had left. It’s too complicated now. I don’t care about charts etc.

Worthless. I bought a new iPhone two days ago. The first app I downloaded was PocketMoney, Having been a user for almost 10 years I considered it essential. What was once a spectacular app has been ruined by no at all programmers who think the best way to improve an app is to change up beyond all recognition and then charge for their failure. Pathetic.

Why the change?. The old app was so much better. Why did you change to this? At the very least you could’ve left the old one usable. I’ve been using this app for years and I loved it. This new one is much clunkier and much less intuitive.

False claims. The app description claims 26 years and 1 million users, but that was before they destroyed the old app and replaced it with the current garbage one. It’s completely disrespectful to the previous developer, and in your own words in other replies you’ve stated this is a new app! Remove your false claims that this app has been around for 26 years!

Can’t open my checkbook. Everything was fine until the last IOS update. Now I can’t open the app (which my means my “checkbook” is gone) and can’t find a way to get help. Received an email through the App Store to open a ticket for help. Link takes me to the website which tells me to ask for help in the app. Can’t open the app. So now what?

Problems. I had PM2 as I had to update a long time ago. Now with the recent IOS update I cannot access PM2 and it says developer needs to update but when I try to find the update for PM2 I cannot find the app at all. It is now back to the PocketMoney (same logo) and I cannot access any of my accounts. Please help!

Premium?. Update: support resolved my problem quickly and now everything works correctly. This app is back to being a great tool for tracking finances.

Great app once you get used to it. I loved the original app from the past, and I hated the new version until I got used to it. Now I like the new version more than the old version, even though I have to pay a subscription fee.

“Lite” version no longer working. Can you please issue a software update to allow the “Lite” version of this app to continue working with the latest version of iOS?

Hate the new version. I hate the new version with all the adds. Some features I used before appear to be gone. Where is the export feature? Why would you completely change something that has worked perfectly for me for all the many years I have owned the app with no complaints?I paid for the app originally so why now do I have to pay to get rid of adds. Is there anyway I can revert to the old version? I have very limited time and do not need to learn over how to use this one.
