We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Missing important features UGH. While chegg makes renting more affordable and convenient, this app really fails to meet the needs of modern students. Highlighting (even with the pencil) is an arduous task! It is such a pain I frequently just don’t do it. It is not possible to change the size or font type of the words! That’s a huge miss. Notes should be in a different area from highlighting if this is really meant for studying. I find this app barely adequate. It doesn’t have night mode or warmth adjustment nor does it have a built in or downloadable dictionary! I’m really just disappointed but I don’t have other options due to the contracts chegg has with the some publishers, UGH

Pretty Difficult to Use. This gets two stars because, yes, the book and all its content is in the app. However, you’ll never want to actually read it on the phone. Which is sad because I would love to read when I have 5 minutes. But, get ready to pinch to zoom in, then scroll left to right to left to right to read. Unlike the Kindle, which formats the text to a readable format on the screen, this misses the mark. If they could format the text to actually be readable without a lot of scrolling, etc, this could be a game changer for my studying on the fly.

Good app when it works. The previous version of the app worked really well for me. I was able to highlight just fine, and go to pages from the search, and click the arrow during a search to see other highlighted results. The updated app however.. is giving me problems. When I go to search for a term, the results pop up, but when I click on a result, instead of bringing me to that page, it brings me to the beginning of the related chapter. It is also not showing page numbers so I have no idea how close I am to the result I wanted. When I go to look at the search results again, sometimes it brings me to the top of the results again and I have to re-find the result I was at. The ability to use the arrows to quickly scroll through search result highlights is also missing, which was one of my favorite features. :/ It’s becoming a big hassle to use the app, but I’m hoping it’s just working out some kinks right now, hopefully they’ll be fixed before the end of my semester. ~V

Chegg is my best friend. If you are new to college, do yourself a favor and do not bother getting textbooks anywhere else. Chegg is the way to go! So affordable, i absolutely love this website/app. They are extremely helpful, and it is obvious they care about you getting your books on time. I have never gotten “no results” for a book i needed. Chegg is always there to save the day! Also, they throw in little surprises in your package and it actually makes me look forward to getting my textbook. Thank you Chegg for making college an easier, more inexpensive experience for me.

Feedback email is a dead link!. Your feedback email link is dead. Great customer service. NOT! The most recent update to the eReader app has resulted in my inability to zoom in and out of a single page, AND I cannot scroll up and down within a single page. I attempt to scroll within the page (can’t do it - non responsive to touch), pinch to zoom out (does it, but immediately reverts back to original size), and try both in landscape mode (doesn’t make a difference). I’ve been using this app on the same device since the end of August with no problems. When I chatted with customer service on the webpage, they were extremely condescending in tone: “It’s working on my end. I can scroll up and down.” Well, I CANNOT and I’m paying for the subscription. PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!

DON’T BUY YOUR TEXT BOOKS ON CHEGG. This is hands down the worst app I’ve ever used to read any book. Please don't waste your money buying your text books on chegg. The only way you can access the book is from the chegg reader app which is slow and riddled with glitches. Its such a pain to use. It makes the laborious task of reading your textbooks 10x worse. This app is also completely incompatible will all Text to Speech functions, so if you have dyslexia, adhd, etc. and are looking to use text to speech You’re out of luck. Chegg also only lets you use 2 devices so if you use school computers for homework be aware that you probably won’t even be able to use chegg.

You guys ruined a good thing!. Chegg... my level of disappointment with your updated app is off the charts. I have been a loyal customer for YEARS - undergrad to now grad school and this recent update to you app is a JOKE. The whole reason I do the digital textbooks is so I can use the “read aloud” function while driving to and from work. You got rid of that for whatever reason. The pages swipe fine but I can never get the table of contents to load right and I cannot get to the spot to search for page numbers / key words etc. Thank god they have a 2 week trial for books because I will be canceling. Anyone have a recommendation for a decent textbook app, this is garbage !

Frequent errors when flipping through pages. I’m a college student who prefers digital textbooks, I love the convenience this app provides in being a library and reader for some of my books, however I frequently experience problems when I’m flipping through pages of a book on this app. Oftentimes, when I’m flipping it will suddenly say there is an error, which I can only resolve by closing the book then reopening it. Small disruptions like this can make maintaining a seamless read & steady train of though more challenging. I hope future updates can address this.

App crashes after opening textbook. For several weeks now and after multiple app updates, the app immediately crashes upon opening the textbook I am paying to rent for class. I have tried signing in and out of my account, deleting and reinstalling the app, updating my iPadOS, and nothing helps. The app now crashes consistently, making it unusable for reading my textbook. The textbook works fine via computer browser, but I subscribed through Chegg to have a better user interface on iPad via the app, and Chegg has failed to live up to providing this feature it offers with the subscription. Won’t be subscribing with Chegg again.

Wonderful company with great customer service.. I love this service. Almost every book that I’ve gotten so far has been from here, and most of the ones I didn’t get from Chegg were wicked overpriced, and upon further research I later find that most of them could have been purchased through Chegg at a better rate. I just received my package and although I know that they always include a freebie, I didn’t expect them to send five. I couldn’t be more pleased with their service and will continue to use them all throughout my college life, I will also continue to recommend them to my classmates! 10/10

This application on Apple is garbage. The app, while functioning, is good and relatively easy to use. But for some reason, in recent weeks, I am never able to log on to my account through the app. It prompts me with a message saying that safari cannot find the link to my google account. And when i go to manually enter my account information, i still can’t log on. Even after switching my default browser to chrome nothing changed. I have attempted many things from updating all other apps including this one, checking for system updates, going in to make sure the browser is still defaulted to chrome and nothing helps. I’m just going to use the web browser to read through Chegg. That is the only thing that seems to work

Awful. This is the worst reader app in existence.. My first time ordering from Chegg in my four years of university. Never again. This is the worst e-reader app ever. It is uncomfortable to use, pages are missing and do not load, and the page change animation is horrid. I have more criticisms but these are the most prominent. I expected more from Chegg. Not to mention the books are expensive and you can’t even read them. If there was any other option to buy the e-book I need for class I’d use that instead. Unfortunately, Chegg is the only service in which it is available. If you can, use Google Books or Kindle instead. Those are the best choices for your e-books. Edit: why are people rating their physical chegg orders on this app’s reviews? It’s skewing the rating big-time.

They need to update the app. This has some okay features but the whole app is so janky. You want to highlight something cool you have a 1 in 5 chance it will highlight what you selected. The app is full of stuff like this want to go to the next page well there’s at least three different ways to do that and when you are just trying go down on the page it randomly go to a different page because you accidentally didn’t scroll straight enough. Theres no animation on going to a different pages so if you accidentally went to a different page you don’t know what page you are then on. USE A DIFFERENT APP IF POSSIBLE NOT A WELL DONE READER YET.

Glitchy product. It constantly logs you out and then removes your downloaded book. Every time you sign in you have to download the book again for the “best experience.” This is extremely annoying while traveling or away from Wi-Fi on my iPad. Many other apps can keep items downloaded when you are logged out, and they also don’t randomly log you out. If you exit the app then come back on and try to go to the next page it crashes. Luckily it does remember what page you were on but it’s still annoying and glitchy. Other apps that offer ebooks are much better, such as Bookshelf. eReader makes me dislike ebooks.

Slow and poor page navigation for ebook. I am pretty disappointed with how this app operates on my iPad. Every time I try to “turn a page” it takes forever to load. There is also no way to simply go to a specific page. An update to this would be great. Seems pretty basic features are missing for an ereader. Also whenever I search something the text that shows up as results is riddled with symbols and emojis. If the e reader is going to remain this poor, an option to access an ebook a different way would be helpful. There is a feature on the iPad to have a window in window view. However the e reader doesn’t work for this feature. It would be really great to be able to have my ebook up in a small window over the app I use for taking notes.

Useless for Several subjects. I bought this subscription to help with my take home philosophy exam because my questions weren’t already answered on chegg. I type my question in and go to select subject and there isn’t philosophy funny right? Yeah maybe if you had 15 dollars to waste, I literally cannot stress how annoying this was like I planned to find this money elsewhere like walking dogs or covering someone else’s shift neither of which I have any time for! 15 dollars might not seem like a lot for many people but for me it definitely is myself including my 3 other siblings are all in college rn and clearly my parents aren’t able to support us all so here I am ranting about this subscription that is useless to me because it didn’t have any other subjects I have courses in either instead of doing this sad test thank you for making my life even harder and making me $15 poorer.

Please add a zoom feature. First off I enjoy the Chegg eReader app, but the only feature I wish it had is the ability to zoom out and in on the page. When I am use the app on my iPad in split view it is very difficult to read the page I am on, because it is zoomed in on half of the page and you can’t zoom out only in. If there was a zoom option I could adjust the page and effectively continue reading. A small fix like this can make all the difference in the experience of the app.

Almost entirely useless.. I was originally happy to find my books at the lowest price, but the hassle I have endured with this app makes me regret not forking over the extra money to get my books on a more reliable app. First off, whenever I try to read through one of my books, I can’t get through more than maybe 2 or 3 pages before I get the “It looks like you’re offline!” error message. I have tested my internet to make sure that it wasn’t that, I’ve used cellular data, and yet nothing seems to prevent this message from haunting me when I choose to study. To get the book to open again I have to exit out of the book and then re-open it, and if I was in the process of searching for something and/or attempting to go to the page I want through the search feature, I have to do it all over again! Yay! Second, logging into this app is an absolute nightmare because it doesn’t depend on anything in particular for it to log you in, it’s simply a matter of chance at this point. So now I am logged out and unable to log back in so that I can continue to study. Thanks Chegg, you guys are making my life as a college student annoyingly inconvenient!

Bad for Split Screen. I bought an e-textbook from Chegg so I can use it I on my iPad where I take my notes and do assignments. I use the split screen feature on iPad a lot to have multiple things open and accessible at once. I planned to do that with chegg, having my textbook open on one side while having my notes open on the other, but unfortunately, the chegg app doesn’t support split-screen, maybe as some security feature or something. Other textbook apps—like Kindle—do, so I’ll probably swap over after my class ends. I prefer the reading experience over there too, as highlighting can sometimes be really glitchy through the chegg app.

Not a User Friendly Interface. It’s very difficult to highlight, pages flip when scrolling down, which makes it very easy to accidentally go to the next page. You have to hunt for the arrows to flip the page, there isn’t a way to view two pages at once, and you can’t properly zoom in or out on the page to make text appear larger while reader. There is no full screen mode, and no text to voice feature. Some of these things are basic functions expected in an eReader application, and they are insufficient. They make the reading experience completely unenjoyable.

Latest Update & UI changes Ruined the App. I’ve been a loyal customer to Chegg for about a few years or so and I’ve been satisfied with their services from using their mobile applications for renting & reading ebooks to using Chegg Study. Since last Spring semester (2020), the experience for their e-reader has been optimal and I planned to use their services again this Fall semester (2020). The time came and there was an update to their UI for their e-reader and the experience went from optimal to rock bottom. It was nice to be able to swipe left or right to turn pages but I needed to tap left or right and it didn’t tell me that at the beginning after I updated the app—it didn’t tell me any UI changes at all (besides the obvious look change). The old UI was more user-friendly that the current one that Chegg has at the moment. There’s an old adage: “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.

Horrible app and even worse customer service. I’ve always loved chegg when it comes to buying physical text books and thought that I would start using eBooks in grad school because I need them on the go with easy access whenever I have free time to read. I purchased my textbooks with my laptop and downloaded the eReader app on my iPad and can’t access them through there. I’ve reached out twice to customer service and they keep sending the same automated responses and ignore my actual questions. I throughly regret buying these books through chegg and will be using Cengage in the future. Absolutely DO NOT use chegg to purchase eBooks.

LOVE CHEGG. I love chegg!! For the same book that I can get at my book store I pay more than half the price to rent it. I ordered a book the first day of classes and was stressing not having one and they sent me an e-copy to use until my book got there, which was only two days later. Returning it is so so easy. Just keep the box and print out the label. I love how you can extend your rental as well. Or you can even buy it if you chose to. I love how they send goodies and gift card with their boxes. I also use chegg study and it has helped me tremendously. I cannot say enough good things about chegg. They are the best!!

App not longer has your ebooks. This app and company is a JOKE! Money hungry and false advertisements. They literally tell you you can access your books on the eReader app but when logging in, the book I purchased is no where to be found. Spoke to customer service, and they told me the eReader app no longer allows customers to view their book on there… LOL WHAT?? That’s literally the whole POINT of the app. Now, whenever I’m in class I have to go out of my way to go on the internet, login EVERYTIME, just to access my book. If I would’ve known the app doesn’t support the ebook, I would just bought a hard copy. Freaking joke!

please go back to the old version. I’ve used chegg since 2016 and used their ebook app the past year with no problems. The recent update is horrible. I couldn’t find my book for the fall semester until I updated it, it won’t save what page I’m on so I have to bookmark the pages so I can remember where I am in the book, and I can’t zoom in anymore which was something I used a lot to screenshot the graphs and diagrams in the book. I also take notes on my iPad and it won’t let me go into split screen like I need which makes it even worse. With physical books, I would 100% recommend chegg and would use it again, but would not rent another ebook if they don’t update the app fixing the issues.

Needs stability work. It’s nice to have the option to access my rented materials on my phone but this app needs work. There were way too many times when searching a certain word or phrase made the whole app crash. There were also a lot of times when just flipping to different pages would cause a “something went wrong” error page to pop up and I’d usually have to just close out of the app to get the reading back to where it would work again.

So bummed that this eReader stinks. I was so excited to use Chegg (well, moderately excited b/c let’s be real, I’m using it to read a textbook) but the format for the fe book STIIIIINKKKKS. Maybe it’s just this way with my particular textbook, but it’s impossible to read with my phone upright (vertical) - the text is so small. Then, when I try to turn it sideways, the reader gets stuck and won’t let me go down very far until I go to the next page and then go back. Plus, every time I go into a different window and try to go back, I have to start all over with resetting everything. So annoying. I think Chegg is awesome, but the mobile app really leaves something to be desired. It would also be nice (on both the eReader and the app) if you could look up definitions of words, but you can’t.

This app is useless. It’s PDF images of the book so you have to zoom in and out just right to read anything, and that’s if it doesn’t decide to erroneously advance you through five pages just for kicks. Don’t you dare try to read in landscape mode - you’ll be advanced to a random page, won’t be able to zoom in and out, then after about two seconds of trying to get back to the last page you were on (you think) you get an error message and have to go back to the main menu and start all over, left hoping the app has some semblance of where you left off. 10/10 awful app and do not recommend; I will not be renting anymore ebooks through Chegg because this app is useless.

It’s okay but needs improvement. First time using chegg and it’s been about a month now. I am using an ebook and i like that the app has the option to book mark and highlight in a few colors. I also love that it is easy to navigate, the book has an option to search key words, page numbers etc. My biggest issue with this app is that you have the option to download the book so it’s available offline and I’ve “downloaded” the book 3x and it won’t work offline. The app constantly signs me out, the pages go blank, or gives me an error message stating that something went wrong. It’s not a huge deal but it’s definitely annoying to have to constantly close the app, sign back in, download the book, and then go back to the page where i was.

App Keeps shutting down. When reading the app will shut down several times and say oh something went wrong and I have to reset the app! It very frustrating. In addition when I zoom in I cannot zoom out unless I close the app and reopen it. The sensitivity of the pages needs correcting, when trying to highlight I think I’m going to another page. or if I try to tap something and again thinks I’m going to another page, and will flip the page. Also there should be the ability for settings for color background for font size for continuous scrolling or if you want page training. The app needs more options to be fully functional and capable to read an online book.

Glitchy. The app is not all bad, I am able to access my textbooks either through my phone or pc. But it can be very glitchy, from turning a page or wanting to return to the main menu on mobile. One big problem is highlighting!! It only lets me highlight words from the top of the page because if I try to scroll down and highlight something it sends me to the top again without letting me finish. Ive had that problem with using my pc but I used my phone and have been able to highlight at the bottom. Using both platforms have the same problem let’s say I want to highlight a paragraph but it won’t let me highlight some of the words for some reason and even if i am able to highlight it ( before choosing a color) after I choose a color half the paragraph is missing after??!! This app definitely needs bug fixes it is just so frustrating to use.

constantly have to close and open the app. I have to constantly close and open the app because, like others, I get a message that says something went wrong. This last time it happened was the the straw that broke the camel’s back and why I am writing this review. The app was not opened for more than 3 minutes, and I got the error message. I had not even read one page and the app crashed. I’m frustrated with having to waste my time closing and opening the app to read my textbook. It’s 2022. How Chegg can have an app simply to read books that is this horrible is mind boggling.

Love Chegg. Omg so my book came early and the book looks in good condition even though it’s used. I love the fact that it came with a $30 gift card for a food place and a red bull for those late nights. Receiving this package made my day because I was just expecting my book that also came at a cheap price and it came with the book and little extra gifts. I would 100% recommend to my friends because what was so nice is that that they give you a digital copy of the book while your book is shipping over. And if your purchase is over 35 it’s free shipping. I am now going to be getting all college books off chegg

“Something Went Wrong” After Update. 2 stars due to intermittent functionality on both iPhone and iPad apps after the last update. The error “something went wrong, try again” happens too often and cannot be fixed unless you quit the app and relaunch. Tapping “Try Again” has not worked yet. I enjoyed the app before the last update, but now it’s incredibly frustrating because of the constant interruptions I experience while comprehending the ideas being presented in the textbooks. I’ll update the rating once the issue has been resolved. Chegg is great, but this app is broken in its current state.

Okay, but buggy. I'm taking online classes for my master's, and some books are way cheaper to rent through Chegg's eReader service than to get any other way. The bad thing is that the eReader app is super inconsistent and buggy. I find myself having to to do a hard-close of the app and restart it CONSTANTLY because pages will not load, even with a great WiFi connection. I love Chegg in general, and I like that I can rent the books for a couple of months (my course lengths are 8 weeks per term) at a better rate than I can rent or buy them elsewhere, but the app really is difficult to use because of the constant crashes.

Very annoying landscape format…. Couple of features I’ve been absolutely disliking is that when the books are in landscape mode or split screen, they don’t format correctly, it zooms in and I can’t zoom it out even if I close the app and reopen it…it takes a few tries to format it into the correct position where I can actually read my pages. I also find that the page flips are really sensitive and can’t move across the page without flipping to next and there’s no settings to fix this. Another thing that was be cool is if there was a page search in the book itself where I can actually type in the page I want to go to instead of selecting the chapter>section from the left menu and flipping manually I usually write the page number in my notes for reference and I feel it’s a bit pointless not to have this feature in an ebook…otherwise it’s an OKAY app. Not the best eReader but it’ll do for now.

STICKY, DIRTY, MESSED UP BOOKS !!!. I was so pumped that a friend of mine recommended me to Chegg! I was desperate to get books for college but I was anxious about the cost. This app seemed to be a miracle for me! I placed my order around a week ago and my books were delivered today. I opened my box to discover used books which is totally okay! What isn’t okay is that my books are completely sticky, bent, and written in! I can’t even hold one of my books because it’s SO nasty! I’m very disappointed that 2 out of 3 of books were gross. I can’t believe I recommended this app to my friends. I will not recommend this to any of my friends in the future because I don’t want them to think I have it out for them! if this app worked out for you and your books weren’t nasty and gross then I’m so jealous of you! Be grateful this didn’t happen to you.

Update: it is working fine now!. “I’ve been trying to order my books for past couple of days. For some reason the website isn’t working and the app isn’t working either! Annoyed, I’ll buy somewhere else.” Apparently they were having technical difficulties but they fixed everything and I will be able to get my books in time!

EReader. I used the EReader app last semester and didn’t have any issues, which is why I decided to go this route again. Unfortunately, the app’s UI isn’t user friendly. You can’t go to specific pages, just chapters. You have to tap on the left or right side of the screen to get to the next page and it takes forever to load; so long sometimes that I’m not sure it even registered it. I think the worst part might be that you can’t rotate the screen. Might just be on iPhones, but it won’t let me and when I go to enlarge the screen, it takes me to a different page because of the left and right screen taps.

Why. This app is a nightmare for the following reasons: 1. If you want to highlight a word you often can’t highlight the last letter because the whole page gets dragged in somehow 2. If you try to zoom in or out your highlights no longer align with the text and any further attempts to highlight will cause the page to zoom in, out, or just highlight the whole page 3. If you accidentally zoom in or out you have to close the whole app and go back in to realign everything 4. Trying to highlight with an apple pencil or finger is next to impossible. It jumps all over the page, selects random texts, and the color box will disappear and reappear

Books came is messed up.. About a week ago I ordered 4 books on chegg to rent. The books were too expensive for me and I was fired for not being able to work as many hours because of college, so money is tight for me at the moment. I did some research and I found chegg. It was really helpful and I planned on using it for next semester as well. I’m not sure about this any more though because I had issues with 3 of the textbooks. My English textbook unfortunately came in a messed up box which was fine as long as the books were okay. Unfortunately only one of the books were okay while the other book had a bent cover and certain pages ripped. I went through the book to see if the passages I needed for the course were okay atleast but some of the pages were sticky inside and others were folded so reading the book alone is very uncomfortable and uneasy. My two ASL books I had issues with as well. One had parts of the cover torn and they both had none of the dvds included. I’m not sure if that’s how all the rental books are but had I known that I would have not rented them at all. I need those dvds and now I have to buy them elsewhere. The awkward part is that I recommended chegg to a friend of mine that was also fired for the same reason and I’m hoping he doesn’t go through the same thing. The ironic part is that the only book that was fine was the extra book I accidentally ordered.

decent enough but some accessibility issues. i’m really enjoying the ease of use that this app gives me to read my text books for school on my phone. There are definitely some quirks to features like highlighting. It is hard to highlight large blocks of text to save a note for. It deselects the highlight if you choose too much text. But the most frustrating part is the text to speech function where it skips entire sections that I am listening to and starts with the figure or table that is further down the page. I don’t know if this is specific to this textbook or a common issue with the E-reader, but this is a huge accessibility issue where entire swaths of content are missed.

Constantly Crashes. When I first got the app it worked pretty well. After the last two updates, it constantly crashes and won’t let me go two pages without saying “something went wrong”. It’s to the point where it is almost pointless to even try to tread my books for college because I have to constantly close and open the app in order to get it to work. Maybe one day they will fix this app, but until then, I will go back to Kindle Reader for my college courses because this app isn;t reliable enough to use.

Annoyed. What would make me happy Chegg… you money hungry thieves is to be able to highlight. While reading the e-textbook on my mac I’m trying to highlight text. I select the text I want with my mouse and upon un-clicking the whole page shifts down and un-selects my text. So now I have to reposition my page and the text still is not highlighted. Also, I ordered textbooks to be shipped so I got a free 7 day ebook. Well, my books haven’t arrived in the mail yet and I’m on day 8 so I still have no books. Also, if I desire to ask for help I must pay monthly for chegg plus? Get out of here. Didn't you guys tell on students for using your homework help answers because they were on student’s quizzes? Why would I pay to get tattled on? Students DONT put your school or courses on your account! Trouble will occur. The app is fine though, but how it’s run is not.

Slow, Frustrating App. As others have said, Chegg used to have an amazing e-reader app that worked flawlessly. For reasons unknown, they have replaced that app with this slow, buggy mess. Unfortunately, pages of books take forever to load, and turning pages is glacial as well. And the book just doesn’t even seem to be formatted correctly for the app. For example, the page of the book seems to be shifted to the very right edge of the screen. The app is unusable in its current state. I had to return my book and rent the book from another provider instead because I just couldn’t use this app.

Loved the service, but stole my money. I am a college student and I used chef this semester to get my college books. My books came fast and were much cheaper than anywhere else. I also enjoyed the little things I was sent along with my order like gift cards and a sample. HOWEVER, upon ordering my books I got a free 30 day trial to Chegg Study. I myself used it once and it did not work for me so I cancelled my prescription on it so I would not be charged again. I ordered my books at the beginning of January and cancelled it later that month. Come February, there was no charge for Chegg Study. Come March, I was charged for Chegg study again. I’m a poor college student. I have bills to pay and now I won’t be able to afford groceries. Thanks Chegg!

Doesn’t show textbooks. I was hoping to use this app as a slightly more refined display for the etextbook I rented from Chegg’s website. The website is okay however it has weird formatting when using the browser on a tablet. Despite having the same account (the account I rented the eTextbook through Chegg) on the app it didn’t let me read the book nor did it display it under the eReader home page. I contacted customer support and they told me the eTextbook isn’t available on the app. Makes me wonder what the point of the app was, perhaps it’s only available to purchased eTextbooks/eBooks?

App hardly works, terrible customer service. The app is always crashing. And their website is so difficult to navigate. My card had expired and I needed to reinstate my book subscription and accidentally resubscribed to Chegg study which I don’t want and don’t need… when I talked to customer service they refused to fix it for me… I wish I didn’t have to use this crappy company at all but they are the only place that has the text book I need for this current semester. I will never use again after this though… I saw lots of incorrect answers on the study app too when I used to subscribe which is why I don’t want it…

Be wary of the payment process and cancellation.. I used Chegg when I was in college and trying to figure out how algebra works, so with that super good experience I decided to try their ebooks out since I only needed it for one class for one night. I got the book, and it was fine and I tried to cancel my subscription later that week (I thought I had) but nope I got a message about it later that month. I tried to see if I had access to it and I didn’t so I had thought the cancellation had finally gone through, but to no surprise the minute there was activity on the card I used, it charged me for a month where I had no access to it and canceled my subscription the day after it charged me. Pretty upsetting. I understand charging if I’ve missed a month but charging me for a month in which I had no access too and then giving me access for only a day after? I was better of just ordering a copy for myself.

App not working with Ebooks. I recently rented 2 ebooks for my classes and did not see them in the library for this app. I thought that the Chegg app was meant to use for the ebooks but after spending a half hour on the phone with a representative I was told that the app no longer supports ebooks (which still makes no sense that I wasted that long on the phone for nothing)….so there is no point to this app and I have to go on to the actual website to access my books. I find it to be very inconvenient when I am trying to use the ebooks on mobile devices. Now I am wondering what is the point of this app if the only function it was meant for is no longer working for me?

$100 ebook only works on pc. I bought a $100 ebook but my chegg app says I don’t have any books available in my library but on my pc browser I do have a $100 ebook. I want to read on my iPhone using my earbuds while on the go and not anchored to a pc. Terrible user experience! When I googled why I can’t get my book on app there is a partial answer but when I click to view full answer, I am forced to subscribe to a study plan for a monthly fee. Very predatory especially since the target audience is students. Avoid chegg

Highly Recommend!. It was my first time renting a book from chegg. At first I was hesitant. However, so many people recommended the app to me. In total I paid $31 but it was so worth it the book is in great condition. It came super early and I even got a few little gift such as a 5 hour energy and midol pills for them cramps lol. Also with a lot of coupons. Won’t mind renting another book in the future from chegg.

Issues fixed. **Doesn’t save your progress in a book. Constantly freezing up which requires a restart.** Edit: most recent update seemed to fix the freezing issues and it now saves my location in the book. Thanks for the update!

Why is the app struggling. I don’t usually write reviews, and I actually think this is my first one, but the eReader app has constantly given me issues. The “sorry. Something is broken” and my book pages being numbers where there should be words is just too much… I’m literally paying for a service that doesn’t provide and it’s super frustrating. Just let me read and search my book with no issues.

Fix this app, please. My app will constantly close itself. Trying to search for a term? Can’t handle that, closed. Turn the page? Closed. It just glitches right out. The zoom is atrocious also. Let me view the entire page when my iPad is landscape. Sometimes when I zoom in or out it turns pages instead. Needs a lot of work for an app that is supposed to be the better way to access my ebooks from phone or tablet.

Defunct App. This app doesn’t allow you to read your ebooks. I bought a textbook from Chegg because I wanted to be able to read it on my phone. When it wasn’t working, I messaged the support team and someone told me that they don’t support the app anymore. Chegg should tell customers that, rather than stating otherwise and accepting money for services they do not provide. I don’t understand why this app is still listed.

Wonderful service and great products. Chegg was recommended to me by my Grad School Success Coach. I’ve been using their services exclusively since I started my program in March 2018 and will continue to use it until I complete in December 2019. Honestly, these books have arrived on time or early - every time. The books are always in good or better condition. The Apps ease of use and return process is extremely efficient and simple. I’ve recommended this App to friends and family. My sister is in a Grad Program and my husband is in his Nurse Practitioner Program; they each use Chegg’s services and are very pleased. Thank you for providing service and delivering product I can count on.

Needs upgrades. App is very behind and needs new updates. Can’t zoom out entirely and can’t even choose how I want to view the book. For the price, I’d like to be able to read two pages side by side in landscape mode. Also, why is it only available for online use? If I got an ebook, I want to read it on the go and sometimes Wi-Fi amd data can be laggy or absent. Also, I should be able to highlight with my Apple Pencil without having to select the text and using this highlight feature.

Highlighting problems. I am sooooooo annoyed! I have an iPad and use split screen. The issue is that I’m in nursing school so I obviously have to break down a lot of info in order to retain it…… I AM SO SICK OF HIGHLIGHTING VITAL POINTS THAT I WANT TO FOCUS ON and having this app delete my highlighted portion. I literally have to highlight it at least 5/6 times for my selection to actually stick……. The ebook was high enough already and then to add all of the glitches with the highlighter and the app randomly logging me out mid reading session is just an extra slap on the rear end. I HATE IT HERE!!!

I love this service. I barely started using Chegg because previously I would buy my textbooks from the bookstore at my school, and I was a little nervous that the textbooks wouldn’t come in good condition. I finally gave in and ordered from chegg the book was in great condition and came quickly and so much cheaper then spending hundreds on buying the textbooks definitely recommend!!!

New Update Makes Ebooks Unusable. You are no longer able to 1. View the whole page of your textbook, which should be a given. 2. Print anything 3.Make highlights 4. Take notes 5. Download to read offline All the functionality you buy an ebook for is gone. Not being able to view the whole page makes my Engineering textbooks absolutely UNREADABLE it attempts to break up and condense diagrams and tables of information. I immediately canceled my ebook purchase, hands down the worst purchase I’ve ever made (and I’ve spent money for gems in mobile games). I like chegg and I have a study subscription but I can not fathom why they would take every single bit of functionality out of what was a pretty solid ebook rental system. Would give 0 stars if I could.

Update worse than previous version; lost a $130 book. I loved the previous version of the app. It was so easy to highlight and turn pages. The new update is glitchy, the highlighting feature is almost unusable, and I’m constantly struggling with accidentally turning pages. In addition to this, my $130 ebook I specifically bought to keep was lost during the update! Why would you not make provisions to ensure customers still have access to the content they bought? I am not sure what actual benefits the new update has, I want the old version back.

App is buggy. I gotta say it’s beyond frustrating when I have to close out my app and reopen it every 1-2 pages of reading because the app says there’s an error and won’t reload the pages. At this point the only reason I’m still ordering books through this company is because they were the only one who had the ebook I needed. The very least you could do is fix your buggy app, please.

Broken. I haven’t been able to access my ebook on the app for a couple months now. Haven’t canceled and asked for a refund due to the fact I can still access my book on the website on my laptop. But Who wants to walk around with a laptop everywhere?!? I was using it to study while working cause of the audio read. I have reached out and the only response I got was to go incognito and that didn’t work. Obviously you guys don’t care cause MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE SHARED THAT THEY CANT ACCESS THEIR EBOOK ON THE APP!!!

Horrible Highlighter function P/C + Mobile. Love that I am able to access this book anywhere, but there are so many issues with the eReader site. Whenever I want to highlight any text on my p/c, it just scrolls the page up. It does not allow me to have different color options or stay highlighted. So I resort to using my phone to be able to highlight it, but even that option is horrible. Sometimes the text I highlight isn’t complete. It only highlights one word or wants to highlight the whole page. It gets frustrating to use.

Terrible. So basically the app is pointless I remember before when you needed the reader to even view a book now because of some ownership issues the reader app is useless but they haven’t communicated that with us and for me personally I prefer the app because I could view the book without having to go into browser and without having Internet access so now what is the point of cheggs etextbooks.

Can’t access my book on this app. I have had this app for about a week now and the book I bought this semester will not appear on the app. It’s no big deal because I can read it on the website, but that’s the whole point of downloading this app is to read it on there. I have signed out and signed back in and uninstalled and redownloaded the app still nothing. Just annoying is all.

Bad Update. I used this this app for my online rental text book last semester (summer 2020) and it worked GREAT. I appreciated the feature at the bottom that would let you flip through pages and the feature that would read the text out loud, it made it easier to do notes. But, unfortunately with the last update they got rid of all these features and its been super inconvenient. I loved the way the app was before I’m not sure why they got rid of all the features instead of adding more...:(

CANNOT ACCESS MY RECENTLY PURCHASED EBOOKS ON THIS APP!!!. What’s the point of making an app when I login using the same credentials I use online with a browser and the app doesn’t even register the ebooks I’ve purchased for viewing. I don’t always have my laptop on me to access the ebooks due to my schedule, accessing the ebooks thru my phone is the only way. You guys are all the same as with other companies who doesn’t invest their time in making a product that works for their customers. Should have went with a more reputable company who gives a care for their customers.

Buggy!. even with recent supposed bug fixes, I haven't noticed a difference as far as the app being buggy. Reading in and of itself is fine, but highlighting is a nightmare. When highlighting, the screen often jumps around, making it very difficult to make precise highlights. I would not be using this app if I didn't have to in order to read my book.

Can we replace every college bookstore with chegg?. Absolutely phenomenal. I’ve saved THOUSANDS of dollars because of Chegg, and I’m not even exaggerating. Not only are they more than reasonable, but they are punctual, caring and organized. I NEVER EVER do reviews, so you gotta take my word for it lol, and everyone seriously needs to but know about them!

Awesome app. This app has made my whole college career 10x easier! While others students that aren’t using this service may spend about $100 on 1 textbook, people like me that use this service spend about $150 for all their books for 1 semester(I’m taking 5 classes this semester). Thanks so much to whoever runs this company, you know what they say, “Not all hero’s wear capes”

Never sell your books to Chegg. I sold my books to chegg 3 months ago and still disappointed receive my money. I called 3 times and every time I called they said there issues with my check, and they process a new check to be mailed again, but nothing comes to my address. I verified the address three times for accuracy, but still have the same problem. I wish I sold them to my school instead so I can get instant cash. I thought it will be good to try it but I was wrong.

Life Saver. Being in college, the first things on the list after classes of course are the textbooks. You can either spend hundreds of dollars in the bookstore or save a bunch of money buying them from Chegg. Even better you can rent them way cheaper than your bookstore as well. Why pay for a book you’re not gonna use later.

Unusable texts. I rented two digital books from chem, neither of which had page numbers for the college text books. This made the texts unusable. You aren’t able to go directly tot a page number that is assigned for reading and you aren’t able to use quotes from the text if you aren’t able to cite your readings in the etexts or ebooks. The customer service is also extraordinarily horrible and will not fix the situation or give refunds for the issue. Be aware of this serious issue if u are a college student needing books with page numbers to reference.

No Page Numbers??. I love that I can read my books on my phone but there are no page numbers at the bottom of the page so I have no idea where I’m at. If I’m supposed to read from one particular page to another it’s almost impossible to navigate. Or am I missing something?

This app needs a fix. Though my textbooks are there, the app is not very smooth and often freezes and doesn’t show parts of the textbook. It also doesn’t allow you to have split screen to take notes on a separate app while you read your textbook which is very unhelpful. It’s also a set back considering that people are now stuck at home and most of the time using the app is more trouble than just getting the book.

New to the app and not a fan. This is the first time I use a chegg ebook and I’m pretty disappointed with the app. I assumed it would be easy and convenient to use my ipad to read the book, but it’s not. First, the book isn’t clear (kind of blurry) and the image quality is poor. Second, highlighting isn’t as easy as other apps. And third, the app doesn’t have a read aloud integrated as I thought. I’m just not really satisfied.

FIX YOUR APP. !!!. This app can drive me crazy. It kicks you out after barely reading and says there’s an error. You have to keep refreshing. You need to update your app and make more interactive and not have these issues. Especially when we have to pay for our online text books. This is somewhat convenient that’s why I gave it these stars. I’m desperate for my text book.

Okay. Sure you save money on here, but almost every review that I’ve seen says they provide a digital copy while your books come in. This was the only reason I decided to go with chegg, because i needed a copy right away. However, after I finished my payment process (still thinking I was gonna get the digital copy everyone was saying) I never received that copy. I waited an hour after purchase too just to see if it’ll come in, but nothing!

Terrible functionality. The mobile reading app is TERRIBLE. Highlighting Feature: You can’t highlight specific sentences, only entire LINES of text. The highlighting tool freezes constantly or highlights the entire page. Turning Pages: You try to click to go to the next page it often spazzes out and sends me to a completely random page. Also, there are many comments just like mine. The only response they receive is to “email the developers”, but aren’t your developers the same ones who created this mess? How/why can they be trusted to fix it? You shouldn’t have to ask for efficient highlighting and page-turning functionality on an e-reader at this point... Y’all, go to Yuzu. Slightly more expensive but 100x’s more efficient.

Used to be great. The Chegg eReader app used to work so well! I got 2 ebooks from Chegg for this semester. At first they didn’t even show up on the app, so I had to remove the app then reload it onto my iPad. I was very disappointed to see the changes from the app I’ve used since freshman year of college. The highlight feature hardly works, the search feature allows you to sear and highlight but will not take you to the page you click on, and turning pages is nearly impossible. If I hadn’t already spent the money to rent the books, I would not continue using this app. Very disappointed.

Please return previous features. I used Chegg eReader over the summer and enjoyed the app. Upon re-downloading eReader for the fall, changes were immediately noticeable. There are no buttons to turn pages. I can’t enter a page number manually. I can also no longer multitask / split screen with Google Docs to take notes. In addition it appears there’s no more read aloud feature. Not sure what caused this update but the app has been stripped of its features and has become no more helpful than having a pdf file of your textbook. I hope they restore this app to its previous glory.

Waste of time. It is already bad enough that we have to pay for the different services, but the app doesn’t work as well. I have two books I’m renting and when I open one book the app keeps force closing on me. I contacted customer service and no one could help me! I know if I try to ask for a refund it’s going to be pulling an arm and a left.

It’s ok. The app saves me from having to go on the website to read my textbook, but I have to close the app and restart it constantly due to errors. I would like to have had control on the text size, background color, and a scrolling vs swiping option, but is just me.

Doesn’t work anymore…. I bought my new book for the semester and it’s only accessible on the website. Went through customer service and they said that the app is being pulled and to use website. I asked if that means it’s useless now for all new textbooks and they said yea…. The website is far less user friendly and really just annoying especially for someone that rather have a paper book in general. Next book won’t be from Chegg.

Not very user friendly. The eTextbook reader app is extremely limited in flexibility. I’m not even through the first chapter and I’m hating this rental already. I can only view one half page at a time, making skimming or going back to find info difficult and tedious. I cannot zoom out to see more of the pages either. Somehow the app is more effective than the website where I couldn’t even access the table of contents. I will not be using Chegg to rent eBooks anymore if I can help it. App could be infinitely better with some very minor changes.

Weird sizing. I downloaded the app to use it on my iPad. The textbook is displayed as if I’m viewing it on my phone. There’s no way to zoom in or adjust how much content I can fit on the screen - just constant scrolling up and down. My professor assigns homework by giving us page numbers. The eReader doesn’t provide page number except for on the content page - you need to constantly jump back and forth to see which page you’re on. Terrible layout and UI design.

Constant errors. I have been interrupted numerous times trying to read one chapter. If I don’t turn the page for more than one minute, I’ll get an error when I try to “turn the page” causing me to close the app and open again. Very frustrating when the pages are long or there are problems I need to copy down. I will be using the website from now on to read 👎🏽

Full of errors. There’s plenty of times I go to change pages and the app says an error occurred. I’m forced to close the text book and open it again just for the same thing to keep happening after a few more pages. Downloaded the book to my device in hopes that would help and nope! Very annoying problem

I like the old version better. I had to re-download the app and did not realize that there was an update. It looks way different and is almost worse than the old version. I liked the ability to scroll through a section up and down before, the page doesn’t fit to the screen now, I can’t see what page I am on, and there is no dark mode. I want the old version, please!

Doesn’t work very well. I like the app and I love the fact that I can have all the books I rented available to read, but every time I am using the app to read the books it freezes out of nowhere and forces me to close it and open it again, all the time. It didn’t bother me the first couple of times, but now it’s really getting annoying. Also the highlighting tool works AWFUL. Hope you can fix both problems soon.

Not great. This app is kind of awful. Trying to highlight anything can take a significant amount of time because it’s so buggy (it will highlight everything but the sentence you actually want) It’s very slow and you can’t download the book to read when you don’t have internet access (ie on a train commute to and from work). The books are cheaper but this app has given me a lot of headaches. I’d much prefer if I could link the book to my kindle app which I don’t have these issues with.

Great app for on the go BUT.... why is there no split view option for those using a tablet, ipad, or even phone? Slightly frustrating and inconvenient when i have to open up a browser window just to do that. And even when i do have it open in a window on a tablet for example, i cant even utilize the highlight feature. Please please make split view available for the app!

Resets constantly on iPhone. Love the ease of access available through Chegg the reader and I have always been a fan of Chegg for buying my books. However, when using this particular app on my iPhone it constantly stalls or switches sections and when I go back I have to scroll through the entire chapter to find where I was.

Bad update. I’ve gotten ebooks through chegg for years. The new reader update has made using book increasingly difficult. Word searching does not work, highlighting within the book is very difficult, and getting to specific page numbers is also difficult, it seems that all the functions within the e reader do not work properly. I wish the e reader would return to the previous version. I won’t be getting books through cheggs etext again.

Crashes too much. I have this app installed on my ipad and use it for 2 books but the app constantly crashes. I read about 3 pages when suddenly I get “oops something went wrong” then i have to close and open back up the app. It’s frustrating to not get my reading done, I paid for a rental and its not functioning, wow.

The app freezes. Lately the app has been freezing a lot at the checkout process or it takes longer than before. And sometimes when I click check out it says I didn’t enter information and it won’t work. The first time I use chegg one of the books was very damaged but I love their return policy and how easy it is to send books back. I really recommend this app it has saved me a lot of money.

Chegg Ereader app not working. I’ve used Chegg for years and I’ve only had small problems that were fixed quickly and easily. I haven’t had to use the Ereader app since I was a freshman but I recently bought a book and it won’t show up in the app even after a few days. I contacted support just to find out that the app is now useless. Why advertise an app if we can’t use it. Really Disappointing

Constant crashes, bugs. I am a college student, and trying to use this eReader app is really frustrating. Almost every time I turn a page or turn my device to shift the orientation of the page the app bugs out, and I get a “Sorry! Something went wrong” notice and when I try to press “reload” it does nothing. So I have to exit and re enter the book I’m reading which disturbs the study process to a point where it is almost impossible to get anything done.
