Don’t rely on this app. this app has never rated a sunset over 30% chance fo beautiful. Everyday the sunset was beautiful, pink, orange, and purple and it said the sunset would be 15% chance of a beautiful sky. I deleted it after 6 false predictions.

It’s no longer working.. Customer service is missing in action. I’ve tried contacting them several times because the app is no longer opening properly after an IOS update. No response for over two weeks !!!

This app is about as accurate as a broken condom. Do not trust this app if you’re planning to shoot a sunset/sunrise. It’s accurate %1 of the time 🤔. If Trojan condoms had the same percentage at preventing pregnancy as this app does to predict colorful and dramatic sun you would have lots of kids 🤣

App Stopped working after paying for the subscription. This app worked great up until a few weeks ago. Now it freezes every time I try to use it, and I’ve paid for the subscription. I also cannot get a hold of the developer!!!!!!

Cannot access. I just got it snd opened it ip to a page eith an overlay page with their logo that is half off the page and cannot be removed to access the real page. The 1/2 page scrolls left to show sunset/rise photographs. Reloaded two ce to no avail. Very disappointed.

Hasn’t been updated in over a year. This was a really nice app, but now it doesn’t even open, presumably because it has been updated in over a year, obviously missing some major apple iOS updates. I guess still available in paid version of Fotocast app?

Best sunset/sunrise forecaster. Yayy so excited this app was fixed. This app is pretty accurate for both sunrises and sunsets. Great if you’re a photographer or simply want to enjoy the colorful sky by yourself or with friends! If the chance for a beautiful sunset is over like 75% then definitely get out there! The higher the percentage the more likely it’ll be a pretty sunset but I feel like even over 60% can be a pretty nice one. I’ve used this app for at least a year and I didn’t realize how much I relied on it till it stopped working for a bit. Super excited it’s back!

Doesn’t work. There has only been one time in all of my attempts to use this app that it has not been stuck on the opening screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times but the problem remains. It is useless as is.

Great concept. Great concept, easy to find app on my phone. It doesn’t always upload and work. Considering cancelling.

Abandonware. Looks like this app has been abandoned. No updates in over a year. Don’t pay for premium. You can’t anyway if you’re on iOS 15 because the app just gets stuck at the loading screen. Avoid until there’s an update.

Stuck on orange screen again. the update worked for 1 day and it’s back to being stuck on the orange screen.

Worth it.. When you’re dealing with the weather, you’re dealing with lots of uncertainty. Understanding that these predictions are based on the weather is key to assessing the accuracy Kane usefulness of this app. Nothing is perfect predicting the weather, except hindsight. I tested this app for several weeks before paying for it. I also compared it to another site that gives daily forecasts of sunrises and sunsets. They were pretty comparable with their forecasts and accuracy. As a photographer, it is a worthwhile investment for the forecasts. No, it’s not perfect, but I think you have to be a special kind of thick in the head to expect weather based predictions to be 100% accurate. Another thing about this forecasting game, using the app can help you learn the tendencies in your area about how sunrises / sunsets develop. When they are going to peter out, or blossom into glorious colors. Using data to educate yourself and learn how to better predict a sunset, what a novel concept. 🙄 It’s a tool that helps me decide if I go shoot or not. With it, I have had more success getting pretty sunset shots. Therefore it’s worth it.

Will not work. Downloaded and even paid for the upgraded version. Every time I open the app, all it shows is the logo on the orange background. It will never open and allow me to use it. Same result every time I try to open since downloading 3 days ago. I’ve opened from phone icon and even thru the App Store. Never loads. Cool concept if it worked.

Jinx. I haven’t seen a sunset since I got this app 🙄

Broken. It worked well for a while, but now every time I use it I get this error message “Error retrieving forecast data, either it has not been generated yet, or the server is experiencing issues. Try again in 15 minutes.” It happens every time I try to use it.

Not accurate. No we can’t predict how sunsets will look, most times this app can’t either...several times it said less than 20% chance for beautiful sky, welll several times it was wrong..just like last night. It said 18%, sunset was awesome. App Should have said maybe around 80-90%.

In app subscription. You only get a same day prediction for your current location. If you want to see other locations or days, you must pay a subscription fee. Just use the internet. It’s better.

Great app but not working right now. It’s very difficult to get in touch with you guys your email is not working. So the only way to get you guys to make sure that this app is working because right now it is not is to leave a review. I love the app and I use it for work can you please make sure that it’s working because right now it’s stuck on the home screen and it doesn’t work. Thanks

Fails on IOS 15.1. Only way to get it to work is to delete, re-download, run once, then repeat!

This app is a joke!. You might as well just look out the window and guess what kind of sunset you’re going to get. The info provided is useless and vague. Most days it will tell you there’s a chance it will be colorful and a chance it won’t. Well, there’s a chance I’ll win the Lotto, too, but I won’t hold my breath. Better off learning a bit about weather and clouds.

Completely inaccurate. This app is completely useless. I live on the beach literally. I wake up to the sunrise every morning and this app has never once been on point. A total waste of money. To the developers QUIT SCAMMING PEOPLE.

Freezing. Keeps on freezing with the new update iOS 15.1

Forecast doesn’t load. It worked for a couple weeks and now it’s broken, with no response from devs.. App worked ok until the latest iOS update in late Feb 2022. Now the app opens, but the data doesn’t load. I put in a support ticket days and days ago with no response. So at this point I’m paying for an app I can’t use. Wish they’d get back to me. When the app works, it’s what you’d expect…..just inaccurate. I paid them 23 bucks to use the app for a year and I got 2 weeks out of it. That’s it. I wouldn’t recommend you spend your money. Seems like they scammed me since they won’t respond to your requests for the app to you know……work.

Gives past forecasts. Frequently gives forecasts for the previous sunrise or set, rendering it useless.

Worst app ever. This app is worthless. I’ve paid to be a subscriber probably 5 times now and have had to cancel my membership every single time. The app doesn’t open it just stays the orange screen the entire time. And If you ever do get it open the app doesn’t work or allow you to see options to click it’s just a awful app with so many issues.

Waste of money. The app freezes all the time- i have to turn my phone off everyday to get the app to work- The predictions are terrible/ not accurate at all

Not opening on latest iOS. Hiya! Got the release notes and then nothing more. Just the big orange title screen.

Incredibly inaccurate. Predictions are very inaccurate. There are days I’ve missed beautiful sunsets because this app predicted a lousy sunset. Got up early this morning to do a sunrise photo shoot, since Sky Candy’s prediction seemed pretty positive. Nope. The cloud cover is so high that the light is struggling to get through. No color whatsoever. I check Sky Candy fairly regularly and they always seem to be off...this is not a once in a while thing.

Essentially Useless. I purchased this app and an annual subscription with plans to photograph a series of sunsets with my drone. It has been wrong almost 100% of the time - predicting great sunsets on dull (or even overcast rainy!) days and giving low percentage chances on stunning days. I have like 10 months left on my yearly subscription but I’m uninstalling this thing now. Don’t get swindled.

No longer works. I just did a yearly subscription a couple weeks ago and now the app no longer works. It is stuck at the launch screen. Apparently, I am not the only one. Requesting refund

Not useful for its intended purpose.. I’ve been using this app for a few months now. It’s basically 100% wrong to the point that if it says there’s a low chance for a good sunrise or sunset, that means it will actually be spectacular and I should go to the mountains immediately. I have much better luck going outside and checking for altostratus clouds. If they are there, sunrise/sunset should be good. The app is so bad at projecting good sunrise/sunsets that I’ve actually started keeping side by side comparisons of the low probably and then the actual spectacular sky.

No longer loads. This app no longer loads. I noticed the issue began after I updated to iOS 15.

Has proven not accurate in my area. The app is rated at almost 4.5 stars which actually surprises me after using it for some weeks. I’ve had the app for almost a month, and I understand how completely unpredictable the weather is, however, in my area, there has been numerous beautiful sunsets/sunrises and each time the app has said there’s only a 20ish percent chance of a decent sunset/sunrise. The highest score I’ve recorded was 28%. It seems as though it is completely guessing. For example, there was some residual rain storms from one of the hurricanes in my area recently, the rain ended a few hours before sunset. These conditions can often be a decent indicator of a colorful sunset, so I checked the app and it said there was a 20% chance. Luckily I didn’t trust that, as the sky was incredible that night and I was able to capture some great photos. That being said, the app is well put together and easy to use. There are a couple other features that would be helpful, so for example if you need to know exactly what time the sun will be in a particular part of the sky, this app will tell you and that part is accurate. I really wanted to like the app, and perhaps it works better in other areas, however I have found it completely unreliable as far as choosing whether to go shoot photos or not.

Are you going to fix this?. It would be amazing if you’d just let us all know if you’ve given up on it because we won’t be bothering you for an app we pay for but haven’t been able to use for months. Please just let us know.

Not accurate. Buggy.. Simple things like saving preferences does not work. It seems the developer is no longer updating the app. Definitely not worth a subscription.

Total scam do not purchase. So you will try to use the skycandy more than twicein a day, it will ask you to buy it. Why buying it is a scam; Each days prediction will continuously change. Mon - wed it tells me thursday night will be an amazing sunset 95%. Day of it drops to 30%. When you have the free version your prediction stays the same for the day. When you pay for the app, predictions are constantly changing by a huge variance of %, making the app totally useless Highly disappointed. What the heck were you guys thinking!

I was excited about it. But meh.. It was wrong more than right. Got sick of using it and missing gorgeous sunsets for photography. I liked the tips and tricks they gave me more than the predictions. Uninstalled 👎🏻

Delete and download again from AppStore. Yes I had the same issue other recent reviewers report: the December 2021 update also freezes on the screen listing update changes. The fix is to delete the app from your iOS device and then download the app again from the AppStore. Then it works. I wish the forecasts were more accurate, but that is not the developer’s fault, because that data comes from others. Sunrise and sunset quality is highly variable by location. Travel 50 miles and conditions may be totally different.

Sun Direction Tool is useless. I wanted to like the app. But it has serious setbacks. The biggest is that the Sun Direction Tool is useless. It's off by at least 20° for me. The way to add locations is a pain in the backside Yo use, almost useless.

Not working - zero stars. I was enjoying using this app, but it has stopped working. I’ve deleted and redownloaded several times and rebooted my iPhone too. Very disappointed.

Biggest waste of time. Purchased this to help predict sunrises/sunsets. Paid for full version. App won't let me add multiple locations. Predictions always look the same no matter the weather out. Don't waste your money until they fix it.

Stills works. Yesterday the free version predicted 78% for a beautiful sunrise, and the sky was wonderful for 35-40 minutes. Well done.

WAS a great app until the sky fell. Been using this app for a couple of years. Predictions were hit or miss but for the most part they were pretty reliable. Went to take a look at the sunrise prediction a few days ago & the app has not worked since. I have deleted and reinstalled several times but still doesn’t work. Guess all good things have to come to an end. 😢

Not bad…. Not bad for a free app, I just can’t figure out how to see TOMORROWS prediction too, which would be helpful for planning.

Instantly Faulty. Just downloaded onto 13Pro. Setup gps, etc. I was then ready the intro which was describing the 0-100 scale. The screen then multiplied and froze. I closed app, attempted to reopen and then it froze on the orange opening screen. Deleted app, downloaded again. Same issues.

Not good. This app says the same thing every day and is very rarely accurate. The free version is a waste so don’t even think about paying for it!

May be IOS 15.6.1 issue?. When this app works it’s fantastic, but there seems to be a glitch with loading about half the time. I wonder if this is related to the IOS I’m using? Hope a fix can be made. Thank you.

Fails at basic functions, no support. It's a cool concept and I even paid for Premium. Push notifications and alerts have never worked. The sunset forecast (the only reason to have this app) hasn't worked at all for a week. I reached out to Support more than a month ago and never received a response.

Can’t access app at all. Since Apple has updated its data, can’t access this app at all - very frustrating!!!!

Don’t waste your money. App continuously shuts down, email to support ignored. It’s terribly inaccurate, 3 sunsets this last week were absolute stunners and it predicted them at around the 20% mark, same with 2 sunrises. Just use their free app, don’t waste your money on the paid app, so not worth it. I’m cancelling my sub so I don’t get charged when it comes up for renewal.

App no longer works on IOS 15.1. Such a great app have been using it for a long time. Unfortunately it no longer works on my iphone. If I delete and reinstall it’ll work once but then freezes and stops functioning until I delete it again and reinstall again.

Does not work. I have this app on 2 up-to-date devices & 1 older one with previous IOS. It does NOT WORK properly on any of them. Cancelled my subscription today as I am not getting what I pay for. I was complaining to a younger family member about my app that doesn’t work & she immediately asked if it was sky candy!! She’s a samsung user & said it’s well known amongst her social set of all different types of phones etc that sky candy is no good. This app has so much potential it’s a shame that the developer can’t fix the multitude of problems. Even the contact/help is greyed out & doesn’t work! My advice to anyone thinking of taking out a subscription……DON’T. You’ll just be disappointed - as I was.

Useless. Super buggy app - fails to load about half the time Only 2 predictions allowed per 24 hours which severely limits usability Predictions are incredibly inaccurate. This app will make your photography worse by making you think there’s going to be no color when there is, and vice versa.

Ok but needs improvement. Works Sometimes . other times it won’t load the page at all. Seems to be a bug because it can shut down when you open it . This is running iOS with iPhone XS

Pretty useless. This app you’d think would be a photographers dream, giving them a fairly good idea of when a decent sunrise or sunset is likely. In practice though as others have mentioned there’s too many occasions when this app will give you a score that completely contradicts what’s actual going on in the sky or it even contradicts itself in the description of the score saying in one sentence that the sky will be cloudless then in another sentence saying that there may be some nice colour for a while due to scattered cloud. Well which one is it?! Cloudless or scattered clouds?! You’d be mental to actually pay anything for this app let alone pay for ongoing subscription. Save your money and pay for photopills, which does WAY more things for your money

Unreliable predictions. This app is so unreliable. Twice it told me there’s 70% and 90% chance of beautiful sunset. Then I brought my gear out and it was underwhelming. Hopefully there will be better apps out there.

So much for a weeks free trial?. Sky candy is supposed to offer a free trial where you can cancel your subscription without penalty before the trial expiry. A few days in and I was debited 1 months subscription fee. I have since unsubscribed and am very disappointed with the dishonesty. I wouldn’t mind purchasing this app for a once off payment, but will not have subscriptions ongoing. Good app, but don’t trust the free trial.

Very Limited. Non premium version is very limited. Premium version is unfortunately not worth the fee. I would put up with ads to access premium content.

More often wrong .... If it says poor sunset you should pack your camera because it will likely be good ...

Don’t Bother. I thought this was going to be pretty good, but it stopped working altogether. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded about 6 times over the last month or so. Was actually excited when I saw the developer’s recent note re: IOS 15, but even updating to 15.2 last night hasn’t helped. Deleting yet again

So far, useless. Paid for the app, and all I get 80% of time is it thinking. Or it says the upcoming sunset is a past event (no percentage of what it could be like) even at an hour before the actual sunset. I’ve texted a few times, to zero response. I’ll change my review and score if they ever get in touch and perhaps figure out why it’s so glitchy on a new IPhone 13 Pro.

A must have for any outdoor photographer. When you first open the app, you are greeted with a friendly guide that explains the core features of SkyCandy. Nice touch! From there, it's easy to make your first sunset quality prediction with an easy to find button on the main screen. The app will use weather data at your location to determine if your next even (sunrise or sunset depending on what time it is) will be beautiful or ugly. This is not foolproof - sometimes it's wrong, but most of the time it's right. It really depends on the weather! They look for certain things in the weather forecast that are good indicators of a beautiful sky at sunset time. So while it's not always accurate, it's better than stepping outside in the morning and taking a random guess. The premium subscription unlocks a lot of additional features, such as the ability to see the sunrise and sunset forecast for up to 5 days into the future, and for multiple locations. Also included is a handy widget, and more. The developer is very active and very helpful. I've had some issues with bugs and crashes, and contacted him using the in-app support. It's always been taken care of fairly quickly and issued an app update or helped me out with any problems. He's a photographer himself that is just trying to help other photographers out there achieve better photos with this innovative idea. If you go on the developer's website, you see that he also gives back to charity a portion of all subscriptions to help make the Earth a better place. Very thoughtful. Overall, this has been an incredibly useful app for me and has vastly improved my landscape photography. No longer do I have to drive around aimlessly for hours while hoping for a good sunset. Now I can know ahead of time if the sky is going to be beautiful at sunset time, and then I can head out to my best spots to take beautiful sunset photos I can fill my instagram feed up with! I highly recommend this app to all outdoor photographers, or anyone at all that frequently watches beautiful sunsets.

Disappointing. Half the time this app would only show predictions for the wrong time of day—sunrise even hours before sunset. This happened multiple times even after an update. I finally deleted the app since it wasn’t doing the job

This App is Crap!. Total waste of money. Have had the thing for months and not yet has it predicted correctly. Tonight, with a 20% Poor rating for a nice sunset, I wasn’t even bothering to look. All of a sudden my wife calls me to come see the beautiful sky.....a gorgeous sunset!! Almost missed due to this miserable program. Total waste of money and a consumer rip off!!!!!!

Very cool.. I like how the app can give you predictions for the next day and you can get your photos rated on the quality of them.

Bought paid version rarely works. Everytime i check the wheels are spinning and never actually delivers the result.

No way to manually enter location. This is one of the only apps I’ve EVER used that demands your location access 24/7, no way to manually enter your location ... which is just dumb. I don’t want these app makers to have access to my location 24/7. Why not let me choose my location?? Get with the program! If they ever add that option I’ll buy the premium version but till than will be getting deleted.

I love the concept but too buggy. I have the premium trial version and every time I try to search a location, it closes the app. I never right reviews but I had high hopes for this one needed it to work because I go to the coast multiple times a week. This could have possibly saved me some time and gas.

App won’t load data. App does not work.

Need a longer trial period. I have the trial version. You can only see as far as the very next sunrise or sunset so there really is no way to get a fair test of the apps ability to forecast any further out than a few hours. I cannot evaluate whether or not it's worth buying with such a small preview window. Why not allow one week with full features? If I'm going to commit to a monthly subscription, I want to know before I buy. Thanks.

Very accurate. Tried now with four sunsets, so far the sunset quality forecast has been spot on at my location. I don't know why I didn't hear about this app before...

Can’t add multiple locations with premium. I upgraded to premium, how do I add multiple locations? I live about an hour from the beach so would like to be able to search it before driving there. I am able to edit my location, but when I click “add new” the map opens, and when I type in the beach I am looking for, there is no way to select that location. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong??

Kind of alright. It’s generally accurate, but my big issue with the app is the fact that it often shows the sunrise when it’s mid day, and won’t give a prediction for the sunset. I’ve tried reinstalling the app and using another phone, but it auto loads the sunrise at mid day 50% of the time. I suspect it’s to push their premium subscription. Maybe it’s just a bug though. The first would be a shame. Edit for developer response: I’m on an iPhone 6 using the 12/hr time format. This sunset/sunrise mid day issue is still a thing so I thank you for looking into it!

Buggy. Crashes like a madman. Often has to be manually restarted when it doesn’t.
