Charging is not easy!!. Support only gives pre-written responses, no actual help. There isn't a way to mark Birds as damaged, and if i go pick up a bird and charge it all night and it doesn't collect a charge you won’t likely get paid and if you do it is days later. There should also be a way to claim even one Bird at a time, like the nests even if for a much shorter time period. This way it is actually economical for the charger to be able to know he will be able to get the bird. Instead of driving multiple miles for it to disappear right before you get there. They also don't crack down on people hoarding birds as much as they say. Which makes it difficult for the honest chargers to actually get the birds. It’s not fair that because their Birds don't work and i cant mark them damaged i do all the work and don’t get paid.

Community service.. Bird does more than rent customers scooters out, they help people out. Offer discount program for commuters. Customers service is over the standard reputable, they respond as fast as they can and that’s not an hour or so. It’s under 30 mins or less. Average for me it’s 3-7 minute they respond with concern, check to make sure I’m ok, offer what they can do for me. Beyond corporation metaphor image, they take humanity actions. They help out. Scooters always get maintained, spite of sour lime, I have almost gotten run over by cars and bus few times, almost crash into wall because lime is behind with maintenance. I am proud of their company spread across the world. But maintenance here in America....I don’t know. I never had problem with bird. I wonder why I love birds now? Sign up with bird. You won’t regret it. Make sure you got something in your pocket and they will provide you excellent service you need.

Ridiculously expensive!. My wife and I decided to spend some time riding around town on scooters. Rode to the mall. Stop to do a little shopping eat and ride back. Supposed to be $0.38 (or so) per minute. We expected a $40-$50 charge. Ended up costing us more than $200. It would be nice if the cost was more straight forward. I understand business owners are greedy and just want more and more and more... For that price, I could’ve bought my own scooter. Maybe not the same range speed and quality, but I could’ve. As long as these keep being so damned expensive, you’re best to just save and buy your own. It’s not like they’re crazy expensive. Most of you reading this probably spent twice as much on your phone. That said, we had an incredibly fun time. My wife even went over a bump and crashed. Scraped up to arm real bad, nasty bruise. I was so scared for her. I’m just happy she was okay, but it could’ve been worse, wear your helmets kids! The point was, she still wants to ride them regardless . But I am considering a law suit. FYI, LIME, is far more affordable. Relatively similar trip cost us less than half what Bird charged us. Same experience... just saying.

This company is a scam. Terrible experience with this company. Rented three scooters for 30 minutes each. During the last 15 minutes each scooter slowed down to a crawl. Making it take three times as long to get back to our original destination. I feel like this is some kind of scam to charge you more. We rode for right under 30 minutes and were charged $15 each!!! That’s $15 for one 30 minute scooter ride. This didn’t sound right to me so I emailed the company twice. They responded the first time but didn’t reply to any of my questions in my original email. So emailed them a second time and have not gotten a response back. I called their customer service department and spoke to somebody who’s English didn’t seem to be very good. Spent a long time just getting her to understand what my email address is which she needed to look at my account. When I finally asked for a supervisor after 20 minutes of that she suddenly said, oh the line sounds bad I can’t hear you. She could hear me just fine for the first 20 minutes but as soon as I asked for a supervisor she started saying she couldn’t hear me. Then when I said I know you can hear me you’re just saying that because you don’t want to get a supervisor she hung up on me. Don’t rent scooters from this company. You will regret it.

Let me ride out of service area, charged me to get back. I was not made aware of service areas and I rode to my destination well outside of the service area. The scooter never made me aware I was leaving the service area (they let you know when you’re in a restricted zone, why not leaving service area?), then charged me to get back to the service area. Then I had the pleasure of walking to my destination 30 minutes late. I contacted bird for a week, finally I got a response. I was directed to four different people who all sent me the same automated response saying I wasn’t getting a refund. I didn’t get a real response from a person acknowledging the fact that bird scammed me by allowing me to go far out of the service area and then charged me to go back in order to end my ride. How far was it going to let me ride? I would have never rode the bird had I known I couldn’t get to my destination. In the end an Uber in a car would have been significantly cheaper and quicker… Horrible customer service, scamming users by allowing them to go way out of service area on their dime to get back. Awful. Update: They responded to my review telling me to reply to an email address, I did that and got the same automated response. I’ve learned since my initial review that the scooters are supposed to slow down after you leave a service area, mine did not. Bird is unwilling to care if you’ve been ripped off by their equipment malfunctioning so beware.

Review for Fleet Manager. My experience using bird as a software for my business as a fleet manager was horrendous. The equipment they provided was expensive and over priced to the point that they are making money from selling equipment, parts and revenue from riders. As a fleet manager, I felt disrespected by Bird management and the software team for restricting my ability to release scooters in areas which led to not being able to profit. Aside from vandalism, FMs attacking other FMs scooters, bird did nothing to mitigate the situation I was innocently in and been marred with vandalism and theft. Bird holds no responsibility for all the total losses and damages incurred on the scooters. I had to pay out of my pocket for all the parts and the scooters that have been missing to bird when I returned all of the scooters back the them. They terminated my contract 2 weeks after I signed a new contract and told me that my contract was terminated from my old contract. I was distraught how it played out to the end because no one at bird would hear me out. Bird Shopify store had no parts for me to replace the scooters I had standing in my office for 3 months and that was what led to my contract getting terminated - bird did not provide parts. They do not give a f if you did not meet their numbers and it shows they put profits before people. Given that I have worked so hard for this company. I will officially file a complaint within BBB because their B2B was illegal.

Shoddy Customer Service and Precautions. The Bird scooters themselves work great and are easy to start and end given the service works and you park in designated areas. However, when a situation arises when the scooter malfunctions and you are unable to end your ride anywhere, you are suddenly waiting 30 minutes on an active scooter ride trying to find any customer support number inside the app or company website. This company makes it ridiculous to get a timely response on a time-sensitive issue (the scooters charge by the minute so I expect a speedy response when something isn’t right). The chat bots tell me I need to wait 2-4 hours through an email to end an actively running ride. There are no company numbers on the app or even the main website, and I had to resort to Google to find a phone number. When these scooters work properly, they are a great travel method, but customer service should absolutely be looked at and changed, because this is outrageous.

No birds no business. After riding birds for months suddenly my map shows NOTHING. No birds. The birds are there but not shown on the map. When you find one and try to ride it, no good. Scooter says not working, try again later? Later? I’m on foot! This entire company is barely able to create a service that works. Currently if you merely ride close to a “no ride zone” the bird beeps and stops. Even though your in the legal area, the GPS is so badly calculated that it actually doesn’t know where you are. And because you can’t ride on sidewalks, we’re left to ride in the street with cars! Wow really? Not on the beach we’re every conveyance known to man is used, no birds allowed. If you can’t ride on the bike trails at the beach then you don’t have a product or a company. I won’t ride birds again.. because I can’t find one on the map!!! Tech support tells me I have an old version of the app, even though the App Store says I have the most current. The blind leading the blind. Here we are on 4th of July weekend and I can’t ride a bird. Uh okay then. Hello e-bike sales.

Suggestion. As someone who rides around sometimes with a charger for this company, I suggest you guys implement fines for bad parking. I live in Atlanta and there are a bunch of scooters parked inside parking garages and in residential buildings. It becomes a nightmare to go around looking for birds when they are at someone’s apartment or inside a building because she doesn’t trespass so she wastes time and gas driving around to find herself looking at a building and contemplating why do people park inside. Add fee for bad parking, make people park in the streets. In that way, you don’t take the chance of losing the scooter, easier for chargers to pick it up and have it ready in the morning 100% charged and also report more damaged scooters so the customers don’t pay for damaged scooters. As a customer that I am, I’m very happy with Bird!!!

0 star app. The app is very bad and i would rate it 0 stars if i could. The ride pass benefits are very vague and are very misleading. The customer service is horrible and not helpful. An example of how the ride pass benefits are misleading is how it says you get 15 rides with the 24 hour ride pass but when i bought it and went to the ride pass tab in the menu on the app it said i only had 7, i also was charged extra for a ride because the benefits don't specify you will get charged if you ride over 30 minutes with the pass, i thought a ride counted as 30 minutes and then it would reset and count that as a ride. An example of the terrible customer service is how i payed $16 for the 24 hour ride pass and could not start a ride, so i went to customer service and they would not give me a refund and i still couldn't start a ride. I would not recommend their service to anyone for those reasons i listed in my review, will never use their service again either.

Horrible rip off. Horrible just like everyone else said it lets you leave your area without telling you anything and then will shut off when you let go of the throttle then it locks it’s wheels and makes the carry back miserable. This could be a game ender for the older population trying to use these they weight a ton and are not easy to the slightest to push and it charges you the entire time. Talked to Someone on the bird help and she did absolutely nothing to help and just told me it was my fault basically which to a certain extent it is I should of just road with my phone in my hand the entire time to see where I’m allowed to ride… oh wait it’s against the terms to use a phone well riding. This is the biggest scam any city allows. Call a Uber even if it’s just for you it’ll be cheaper and less of a headache. Worse 25$ I’ve ever spent that’s a down payment to own my own electric scooter. If these people ever want to succeed they need to cut those prices in half then half again

The worst. The first time I wrote a bird was back in Santa Monica. I loved it! Unfortunately they have gone so far downhill. Currently, in Salt Lake City, you can’t even ride them downtown. They’re not anywhere near downtown. Recently, I tried to use one to get from my house to the airport. I was just planning on riding it from my house to the train, and then taking the train. What a mistake! Almost missed my flight. The scooter kept going fast and then slow. It kept telling me I was out of the service area. I will open the app and look at the map, but I was still in the service area according to the map. So I tried to move to the lighter colored section of the map, but it didn’t change anything. After 30 minutes of walking it to different locations, trying to make it work, I gave up. I kept trying to lock it but it wouldn’t lock no matter where I went, in the service area or out of it. Finally I found a number for customer service, so none of the options were that the ride wasn’t working. Period the customer service guy was very kind, and he did end up walking the ride for me and refunding me part of it. However, as this is the third time I’ve had issues with the app I’m totally done with them. Not to mention they are completely not helpful to me if I can’t use them downtown. I’ve never liked lime, but it looks as if I’ll have to use them from now on.

Be aware of Price Discrimination. Be careful of being overcharged! A friend and I took a leisure ride around the city. It was my first time and I put in all my information but didn’t notice that Bird was charging me more than double what they charged my friend even though our birds were side by side and we went the exact distance and there were lots of unused birds all over the place. I emailed and asked about the price discrimination and was told something to the effect of we understand your concern and we are in the process of improving our fleet. I emailed them back showing them I was being charged $.35 a minute while Lime was only charging me $.15 a minute at the same time and from the same location, and why should I be singled out to carry the weight of repairing their fleet. In my opinion it was not good customer service and I have not heard back from them. I regret my ride with Bird as it cost me $20+ which it took all the joy out of the ride. All that to say I plan off loading the app as soon as I use up my credit and going with lime who only shows the $.15 a min.

Best mode of transport for those without a car who don’t wanna sweat. Bird scooters are probably the best way for one to travel around town for pleasure, work or errands. It’s affordable, won’t wear you out, allows one to see observe more of their locale and provides timely travel. That being said there are 2.5 issues that should be addressed in the future to ensure an even more positive experience. (You’ll see what I mean by .5 in a moment) 1. The tires on the scooter are designed to last quite awhile, but because they are solid, the offer no suspension thus causing one to feel every crackle, pebble etc. this could be resolved with either a rubber solid tire or adding some form of spring suspension to the scooter frame and form. 2. An integrated clock on the display would be very nice as it would allow for one to see how much they are spending/how much time has elapsed since the lease began without having to stop and check periodically or risk injury by trying to check their phone while riding. 2.5 The scooters in my town are an eyesore primarily due to the damage and abuse inflicted on them by the local bum and Tweaker population. I realize this isn’t birds fault, this is a much greater issue with society and politics. Thus this is issue 2.5 as it’s not really something bird can help beyond requesting folks to report any abuse they see being done or creating a map of where the scooter receive the most abuse and abstaining from allowing them to be left in those areas.

Worst Experience on a Scooter. My fiancé and I both downloaded the app, added money to our accounts, linked a scooter, and the scooter would not unlock, we were standing there try to get the scooter to unlock and it simply wouldn’t. After 10 minutes of having our money taken from our account, while the scooter was STILL locked, we gave up. I contacted customer service immediately to try to figure out how to make this right and NO ONE got back to me with a reason to explain to me why we were being charged for NOT even having access to ride the scooter. If they had the proper technology, it would show that the scooter did not unlock, and the scooter didn’t move 1” while they charged us for 10 minutes standing there with no help. They also refused to refund my money, and refused to take the balance off of my account. Now I have $20 literally flushed down the drain because no one at this company knows anything about quality customer service. Extremely disappointed and would NEVER recommend BIRD scooters to anyone! I will purposefully go out of my way to let people know my experience on the street so they don’t make the same mistake we did.

Very bad user experience with the app.. My girlfriend and I decided to ride the bird scooters. After we got done riding it, we brought it back to the original spot we rented it at. It kept giving us a warning saying we are inside the red parking zone and we can’t park the scooters there. But we saw at least 10 bird scooters parked where we were at. I was messing with the app and eventually it allowed me to park the scooter there. My girlfriend however wasn’t able to park there still. The outside area of the red parking zone on the app was just a block away so we decided to just take the scooter over to the next block to park it. When we got to the next block, the app now showed a different red parking zone which wasn’t there earlier. Now it showed the original spot we were at is no longer a red parking zone. We took it back to the original spot we were at again, and now the red parking zone has changed once again. We had to take it to different spots in order to check to see if the red parking zone changed or not. Eventually we took it to an area where we can finally park the scooter and end the ride. This already took time and money out of our account from us just trying to find a parking spot for the scooter. I’ve rode other scooter renting apps and it was way user friendly than this. I Wouldn’t recommend this until they fix this issue.

Over charged and equipment didn’t work. Hello, This was a first experience and a Mother’s Day plan to celebrate myself being a mother and celebrated with loved ones. Well we ended up walking the equipment more than riding and enjoying the $80 from 3 separate charges one $20 for 30 minutes, all day pass 10 rides 30 minutes 27 almost $28. Then $40 for a guest that we assumed was getting one of the rides from the 10 all day pass. I found no number to contact you on the app. I would like a refund or be credited with rides for the account you hijacked my account for! It was Mother’s Day and very upsetting to be able to finally be celebrated and a opportunity to spend time with loved ones for the equipment and charges was very disappointing and ruined Mother’s Day as I am disabled with a chance to overcome obstacles due to my disability. But to be able to enjoy such things might not be important or a big deal but to someone that doesn’t get a opportunity to enjoy their life due to a disability many times stopping progressing in your life. I look forward to hearing resolve from this matter. Thank you

Never A Bird When You Need One. Bird is fine when you find one that works. I walk to work in DC from 17th and R NW in to L and 15th NW. this is a fairly major route for people walk to work in the AM, and home in the PM. There are never any Bird’s along this route, because of it being a major walking commuter route to downtown. And when there is a random Bird along that route, it is either out of juice or off-lime due to damage. I am sure it is a never ending struggle to keep repositioning Birds around a city. That said, it would be nice if there were more of them on 17th between U Street NW and Mass Ave NW at the other end for the morning commute. And those that are there are working / have juice to be operable. I keep looking at other people riding Birds and wonder to myself, where the hell did the fund theirs? And where did they find one that works. In closing, full disclosure: I did just rented one at about 7:45 pm, with no problem. Had a nice ride. However that is the exception in my experience, and not the norm.

Worst scooter app by far. Update: Bird replied to my review with an email alias. I reached out and unsurprisingly did not receive a response 🙄 Firstly, Bird doesn't do maintenance on its equipment (at least in my city) so literally every Bird scooter I ride has some major defect that makes riding at best tedious and at worst unsafe. Last time the base was so broken that a loud *CRACK* was emitted any time I went over the slightest bit of uneven road and people on both sides of the street were staring at me. But the issues don't end there. In the middle of my last ride, the scooter stopped accelerating and the app told me my ride was canceled with no explanation. After looking at the map, I saw that the app somehow had transported me to the Gulf of Guinea just south of Nigeria. Why? Because if there's any amount of time where the app can't locate the scooter, it literally sends (0,0) - the geographic center of the earth - as the scooter's location. Bird didn't refund my money or even offer the opportunity to rate the ride. Upon looking through my email, I saw a pending support request from a previous ride, clicked on the link, and was told that my email address (same one the support request was sent to) is invalid. Truly awful on both the hardware and software sides.

Horrible. Used to be the best now is decidedly the worst. Every time I use bird they either take money out of my account even though it’s more than required AND even though I’ve adjusted the settings, the rides are slow half the time, restricted half the time, not to mention more expensive than the other brands. My most recent experience is my last straw - I never am one to write a scathing review but after multiple terrible experiences I have had it. The brakes were horrible - screeching, jerking, not sure if they’d even work, the front tire was rattling - and when I went to end my ride multiple times I wasn’t in one of their parking zones - which are always blocks away from anywhere anyone would actually need to go, pretty much defeating the purpose of using one of these anyway - I wasn’t able to end the ride. I contacted support yet my time just kept ticking. Finally I chose to ride the broken scooter to one of their stupid parking spots so I’d stop getting charged and hope for a refund but now I wait as they deduct more money out of my account. Terrible. I’d officially rather walk

Terrible Experience - Scammed and Ignored!. I had an absolutely horrendous experience with the Bird scooter app. Not only did it fail to let me end my ride, but it also scammed me out of nearly 20 dollars. The app falsely claimed I was in a no-parking zone, despite being in a perfectly acceptable area. This resulted in unnecessary charges and a frustrating ordeal. To make matters worse, the customer service provided by Bird is beyond terrible. I reached out to them through multiple emails, seeking assistance and clarification, but have received absolutely no response. It's incredibly disappointing and unprofessional to be completely ignored when trying to resolve an issue caused by their own faulty app. I expected a seamless experience with Bird, but instead, I was left feeling ripped off and ignored. I strongly advise against using this app, as it not only misleads you with false claims but also lacks any form of reliable customer support. Save yourself the trouble and find a more trustworthy scooter app.

They will over charge you!. These scooters are definitely not worth the hassle ! On 2 occasions the app would attempt to forcefully make me try to use one of the ride reload options ! Then after selecting No they still charged my card constantly ! Until it was clean ! Thankfully it wasn’t much on there so I let them have that little $20 … next I try to attempt the rides again because my son really wanted to ride them . Same issue ! As I’m taking a photo of the barcode to select the scooter they automatically start charging my card $10 off the rip then continuously charging $12 until they couldn’t anymore ..now my card has all these attempted charges and the $10 they was actually able to take even though I was never able to ride the scooter ! It never activated !! So I write them because there no other way to contact them, and they sent me $3 of the money they wrongfully charged and didn’t even acknowledge the rest

Great idea, bad quality. The scooters are convenient when they’re close by, but in my experience I’ve gotten mad with these guys so many times I decided to just cut the cord. For starters, when you have a problem, you won’t be able to contact them because the only customer service option you have is a robot chat who only accepts certain problems. I spent 2 days trying to get ahold of any way to contact a real human. The scooters randomly turn off, and if you go on the edge of a “no drive zone” you get charged for all the time you spend trying to move it till it registers that it’s out. I get charged even when I turn my auto charge off, and then I get charged for it failing. My scooters turn off so frequently I just couldn’t take it any more. I’ve reported it probably a dozen of times, and nothing has changed, so I figured I would warn folks here. Great concept, horrible quality.

A Bird Charger’s Review. This is a fun side gig, and I love riding the scooters. The app is fast on iOS 12 and it seems like this has really good potential! However: People are straight up stealing them. Just 2 days ago I saw a delivery kid with a U-lock on the bird he was using. People are hoarding them on private property and using them like personal scooters, which makes collecting them to charge really hard or almost impossible. Or, maybe they’re hoarding them to wait until they lose battery to get a higher price for charging them? Either way....I think you all should figure out a way to combat this. Maybe do what the grocery stores do and lock the wheels outside a certain radius or after a certain time. OR maybe impose fines for keeping a bird past a certain time once unlocked, or make the alarms a lot louder. This would make things a lot easier for you and us!

Tempe. It’s a handy tool when you don’t have a bike . A little pricey. In Tempe there is to many normal roads that asu thinks they own so you can’t ride or your ride is slowed down , even though cars are blasting down same roads at well over the 18 mph you can do on a scooter. God forbid you go too fast around all the students and the food robots. Not mention all the skate boarders . There are a bunch of rides that need work , lose parts , bad or no brakes . And I think that they shut off the rides at bar time . Just when you need them . Oh I’m tipsy I’ll leave my car and use a scooter, oops they are turn off , back to the car . Seems dumb to me. Yes scooters are not toys and you have to have common sense to ride them , but not all folks who want to get some where at bar time have been drinking . All around a good bang for your $ 3.45 ….

Safety Issue. I won’t ride a Bird again until the issue I just encountered is fixed in the app. I got onto a scooter that was broken (wouldn’t stop accelerating) and had to jump off of it to avoid a more serious crash. I escaped with just a bruised ankle, but my first thought was obviously that the next person to come along could be hurt even worse. Because the ride only lasted a few seconds, Bird “cancelled” it and didn’t charge me. That’s a great customer friendly feature, but I had no way to rate the ride and report the dangerous scooter. I called support and got no answer. So I sent them a message through the app, but that hasn’t been answered yet. In the time that’s passed, anyone could have come by and started a ride on the same scooter that I’d just been injured on. The app needs to provide an immediate way for riders to take broken or dangerous scooters offline, even when rides are too short to rate, or there is a risk of multiple riders being hurt. I imagine rides on broken scooters tend to be short, so this is a big oversight!

You get charged when nothing works. Update: They did end up refunding the ride via credits entirely. I still haven’t had a great experience with the app but they are responding which is great. Tried getting 3 scooters to travel Nashville with friends and all of them in a group ride had issues starting. Only could get one at any time to actually accelerate and the entire time we got charged for trying to troubleshoot. Cost me $15 to go nowhere in 5 minutes and their technical support is just FAQ pages and a bad chat bot. They do have a support ticket service but it felt like they were trying to make it as hard as possible to get a refund. So I lost money to do nothing. They offered free ride credits as the only easy refund option but if the service isn’t working there is no point. I’m sure it works for a lot of people but when it doesn’t it’s an expensive nightmare with no ability to rectify easily. I have used other scooter services and it was not this frustrating.

0 Star Customer Service/Overall app. To start off, everything on the app is very misleading. Very little to no important information you should know, that they don't tell you. I purchased a 24 hour pass with free rides. It says 30 minute rides so i thought, since it doesn't tell you, it would restart your ride and "start" another one of your rides automatically. Also, charging me for rides i don't take, or extra time after stopping the ride and snapping a picture, doesn't make much sense to me. My thoughts led me to contact customer service like any person with sense, right? I was mistaken. Customer service doesn't do anything to resolve your problem or take care of customers having trouble with their services. Very hard to understand how to use the app and customer service robots send the same automated messages no matter what you tell them. All I would like at this point is simply a refund and i'll go on my way. I've been overcharged, frustrated with dry and unhelpful customer service, and upset with all the trouble i've had trying to deal with everything to do with this.

Pricing. Our experience: 1) Does not properly disclose pricing on app. Under payment screen it states...”$1 to start, $0.15 per minute plus tax”. Time charge is displayed. There is no disclosure of distance rate or price. Our final charges were $0.27 per minutes not $0.15 per minute, which I find deceiving. 2) when setting up app, it asks what dollar amount we want to start with. It fails to ask if we, as the customer, agree to the continual charges on card. Or it also fails to disclose to customers that credit card will continually be charged. Currently this option can be unselected under payment tab. 3) miles are not properly disclosed. There is either a glitch in the system or with the scooters. We were a group of 7 (phones/riders) who followed each other to the same destinations. App showed same destinations with different miles recorded. Again be a glitch or a way to charge customers more on distance. 4) The ride was enjoyably fun! Scooters had speed and the breaking system worked well. No complaints about scooters.

THEY DO NOT EXPLAIN THINGS GOOD. They overcharge you for everything the 5 dollars you have to play to get them do not have a ay explanation to how much you have to play or the time you have on the scouters. They also make you save your car to get the time you ride they keep on charging you more money and more money as the time goes and when you lock it keeps on it thanking your money or if you get off and you don’t lock it it closes the scooter and you have to redo everything you did to get it. Also the customer support is really bad they do not explain things and they switch up things on you one time one person saying one thing and the other one staying another day supposedly refund you the money you’re supposed to have but they keep changing it so they get to refund you even less money. It is unacceptable that they do this they guy we were talking he did not know anything he kept saying things that did not make any sense. I’m and so mad and sad that they take advantage of people like this knowing they don’t have this clear. I am never going to get this ever and I do not recommend it it is better to walk or get a Other things to get transported though the city.

Evil Corp. I have never wrote a review for anything, ever, but their customer service was so awful and unaccommodating that I must warn. I took a trip to LA from NY and thought I’d try it out. (NY doesn’t have e-scooters) the first screen said $6 for 30minutes. Ok, I rode for a few minutes and stopped at a convenient store, locked it on the app so no one takes it on my dime. So one would think I have 27 minutes left that I paid for. Got back on, rode a few more minutes, stopped again, locked, came back, rode again. I did this 4-5 times and they were charging me $6 each time I stopped and started. NO Where did it say you only get 30 CONTINUOUS minutes. It was displayed to me that I get 30 minutes and they should be accounting for the time like Lyft does. I disputed the $42 my bank account was charged for riding 1.5 miles total, and they played dumb and gave me the run around and never returned the money they stole. This is no way to treat a Future customer when NYC legalizes e-scooters. I run the bike lanes in the Upper East side, talking to all the bikers everyday. I’ll be sure to put the good word out for your company in my town so when you get here, we know how great Lyft e-scooters are. Im not even going to get into how the Bird scooter disconnected from the network mid street crossing (locks up and can’t move) almost killing me because the light had changed, and left me stranded far away from any other scooters.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT PAYMENT ( GOT BANNED). I used the Bird Escooters some days ago. They Requested me to put a payment Method wich I did, after I finished using the service they charged me to my card and then they Sent me back the money for no reason. I tried to pay by myself but it didn’t work. After a while they start spamming me with notifications about paying the service that I used, and Update my payment method. I checked on the app I updated it and They keep sending notifications about the same thing. It’s been some days since then. Today I tried to use the service and by Surprise I got banned from the app, but they keep spamming me with notifications about paying. I updated my payment method, try to pay by myself and nothing worked. They Keep spamming about it and HOW I CAN PAY OR TRY TO PAY IF I GOT BANNED and I tried so many times and it didn’t work, I tried to contact with costumer service and I got no response. It’s not my fault. The same thing happened to one of my friend. Please Fix all the problems, or stop offering the service. It just disgusting how I got banned for something that is no my problem.

First Scooter Ride Ever. I am a 55 year old male, and today was my first ride ever on a motorized scooter. Wow!,…what can I say,… Riding the BIRD scooter today was the BOMB,…I believe this was the most fun I’ve had in 20 years. I’ve had many motorcycles in my life, the things that I enjoyed most about the bird scooter is that it is very safe, and has lots of power, and it is a very good method of transportation for short distances or long distances depending upon your needs. My grandson and I took turns riding the scooter and we did not want to quit, but we had other obligations so we only got to ride it for about 25 minutes, but during our time riding the scooter we both were really stoked, and shocked with the amount of power that this little scooter packs under the hood. I can’t wait until the next time I have the opportunity to ride a bird scooter, I’m really looking forward to it. I would like to own a BIRD scooter in the days ahead for personal use, and then I would have it all to myself, and then I could ride it anytime I wanted. I will be checking into this option in the near future; I am now a sold out bird rider, and I would definitely enjoy becoming a bird scooter owner. Thank you, Kelly

This app is the worst. In the entire time that I have used an iPhone, there has never been an app that has angered and gaslit me quite like this app. Before anyone can say that I could use different app or form of transport, I can neither afford a car, nor are there any other types of scooters in my area. The amount of times that their scooters have either shown themselves as working but don’t even turn on, or even the amount of times that a scooter has said it can travel a certain distance and then dies quickly, could outnumber the amount of costume changes that occur in the MCU. The service from the ground up is horrendous, from the app that shows false active birds and fails at times to even connect with them at close distance, to the scooters whose brakes are often brakes in name only. I could tie a brick to a string and throw it off the scooter to get better stopping time. I hope that Bird can get there stuff together, because wherever it is, it’s not with their scooters.

The Time Has Come. I see a lot of people are actually reviewing the service and not just the app. So, I will do the same. The app itself, is fine. I have no issues with it. It finds the scooters, unlocks or locks them.. payment can be a CC or Apple Pay, which is a big plus for me. The scooters are great. They are better than the Santa Monica or LA bikes. Cheaper and you don’t have to find a frigging docking station to leave them at. In Venice. / Santa Monica, the scooters go where I go. And find them where I am. The only criticism I might offer, is that that folks who are being paid to charge them ( you can make $5.00 per battery) leave the units active In their garage or even in their car. So using the app, I find myself standing in front of a locked garage or at Someone’s van with 3 or 4 scooters inside. I

Fun while using it - But cheats you out of money. I used this in DC and I made sure to click the option that only cost $5. After that I went into the app before I started to use the scooter and turned off the option to recharge me after my time was. I was riding around waiting for it to turn off when the battery died. After parking it I went to look for a different one when I found out that I was charged almost $20 for this ride. Four times the amount I authorized. The app was recharging me and not letting me know about the recharge. During the ride I repeatedly checked to make sure the recharge option was turned off and each time it was. Despite this more money than I allowed was taken from me. When I emailed the company and explained this to them, I got an email back ignoring my issue with them recharging me without my knowledge and was given a small amount credit for the small amount of time I didn’t use as the scooter died. Would never use these scooters again and would not recommend.

Use Lime Scooters When You Can. Tried to set up an account last night, only to be met with error message after error message telling me to “update my payment method”. Found a Lime Scooter nearby and set up an account and it worked in less than a minute. Unfortunately, there are very few Limes around me, or I would use them exclusively. I created multiple accounts, and have still been met with the same error message. Contacted customer support only to be treated like a child and asked questions like “do you have the latest version of the app” or “have you tried restarting”. The issue is very clearly with the app itself, but they refuse to listen or hear your side of the story and instead provide generic troubleshooting suggestions. An all around horrendous experience. I can’t even remove the card from my account in order to start over. So basically I’m just unable to ride bird scooters because their app/customer support team are not helpful at all.

Great pricing, even when you mess up. So first off, I’ve had around 20 rides and loved all but one (the scooter was damaged but you can report things like that easily in the app). It’s FAST, FUN, and so convenient! Best of all? The price. Phenomenally low costs, I joy-rode around a park with my mother one day for over an hour, and we each paid less than $9. That system was put to the test today when I took an emergency Bird and made it to my meeting just in time—naturally, I forgot to lock it and presumably left the meter running so to speak. I realized this an hour later and checked the app ready to be disappointed, but it recognized that 40 of the minutes it had been unlocked were spent immobile and I was only charged for the time I actually used it. Incredible system!! It’s how things should be, but how they so rarely are; keep it up Bird, and don’t mind the bad press, you are loved.

Unscrupulous company. I’m 40, live downtown and am a full time paramedic. I just wanted some extra $$ without being coughed on. I’m honest and I’ve never been reprimanded at a job. But I was fired from Bird as a charger on trumped up lies because after several weeks of charging I found I was only being partially paid for certain birds and flat out not being paid at all despite following all of their rules. I wrote a long letter with details and called out their practices as unacceptable. Two days later I was told I was terminated without appeal. I’m not eligible to ride even..took them weeks to pay, days to respond to queries..the app functioned great most f the time but when it didn’t it was a nightmare. If GPS is off a normal drop off of a couple minutes turns into 30..birds at my home that were properly scanned suddenly alarmed and I had to recapture them. Not once but twice other fellow chargers were on my doorstep looking for birds. They showed up on their maps as uncaptured but were sitting in my tasks. Company just doesn’t care and everyone I knows now knows my experience. It’s all kind of sad because when it worked it was great and the dream of it all is grand but it’s just..failing.

Worst Scooter App (in Portland). I have used all the other scooter companies in Portland without any problems, but not Bird. Bird has several problems that prevented me from using any of their scooters and they all stem from the fact that they require a driver’s license to be scanned into the app. Firstly, there is no option to do this before trying to rent a scooter, which means that you’re left standing on the sidewalk trying to scan your driver’s license into the app. The moment when renting a scooter is usually one where I’m short on time, so this also becomes very inconvenient. Secondly, the driver license scanner did not work - meaning I had to enter information manually. Thirdly, after entering the license information, I was not able to submit it on multiple occasions due to a “network” error, even though I had a good cell signal and unlimited data on my cell plan. Finally, none of the other companies require important personal information such as a driver’s license to be submitted to the app, which makes Bird seem to require additional info for no discernible reason.

Disappointed Charger - Lack of Support. I really love BIRD’s viewpoint of getting cars off the road However, from a business stand point - and my personal experience as a BIRD Charger - I honestly believe it would benefit BIRD to invest in stronger and more timely tech support ( it could take up to 24 hours to get a reply) - rather than investing in expansion to other cities, states and countries. I feel like it is a House of Cards and I would hate to see such a great idea crumble... My first several weeks as a Charger were great. Even though I only had 3 charger cables, with the proper planning and the will to hustle, on a good day I was able to charge 14-18 scooters. Around the beginning of August - my BIRD app would no longer allow me to “capture” birds. The app would vibrate when I scanned an AVAILABLE bird - but the scanned bird would not show up in my ACTIVITY TASKS. On numerous occasions, I reached out for tech support. They suggested I update the app, delete my app, change my email address, etc. None of these simple suggestions worked. After 3 weeks, and hours and hours of trying to get the app back to working mode - I’m still unable to “capture”. Apparently no one is trained or qualified to help beyond the obvious. So, quickly the Bird App went from a viable form of income to a complete waste of time. So disappointing...

Don’t work for this company. I became a charger for this company and just completed my first release today. All was well, I released the Bird to the correct location, completed my task and went on my way. At 10 am I began receiving notification that my Bird was late to release. I went to check my tasks and nothing was there but I also noticed that my pay out was not listed either. I contacted support and was told that they did see the release completed so they “removed” it from my tasks (although it was never there). When I responded asking for my payout, I was asked to provide screenshots of my location on the Bird map, a screenshot of the error I received when releasing, and a picture of the location I was releasing. As it was now 6.5 hours since I released the Bird, it was impossible for me to provide this information. When I responded stating this information, I was essentially told “Too bad, so sad. Next time do all these things because you will have to request a pay out every time you release.” When I asked again for my payout, I given a link to an article in the FAQs as to the reason for my lack of payout due to faulty release, even though I was never told that there was actually an issue. By the time this was said and done, this company wasted more time and money creatively telling me no than it would have cost to just pay out the measly $3. I am throwing away my chargers and discouraging anyone I can from using or working for this company.

Failed lock attempt; no customer service response. Finished a ride in Paris. Attempted to lock my scooter... and the lock procedure hung and did nothing. The scooter was still active so I couldn’t walk away. Attempted to contact Bird opened a chat with an auto-response that someone would be with me shortly, but nobody ever joined the chat. Finally got 4 notices in a row that my connection was bad and I should check both my internet and Bluetooth... but internet was working for my other apps (Lime and Voi both showed nearby scooters when I tested and my wife texted back when I msg that I would be late because of Bird). The app had completely hung in the lock procedure. I couldn’t stop it or restart it. Could only watch it think about maybe locking my scooter. After maybe 9 minutes, it finally gave up, told me to check my internet connection (again) and left my scooter open. I tried to lock again and this time it worked normally. Then the bill showed up saying they were charging me for the full usage time including the extra 10 minutes of non-use that it forced me to spend stand on a sidewalk. No customer service response whatsoever to my request for a 10 minute refund. Very dissatisfied with Bird at this point.

Holy Smokes !!! 🙂. First time rider, big time fan. Learning curve: you will be an expert in about 2 minutes. So much fun!!!! It’s ridiculous. BRING YOUR BIKE HELMET ⛑🚴‍♀️🚴🚴‍♂️. If you think this is not your cup of tea, chances are you are wrong. The scooters and electric bikes are a fun way to show off Richmond to visiting guests. Half the fun is finding one using the app. There is no central station. You just locate one, ride it to where you are going, and leave it at your destination. Be thoughtful and leave it where it can be seen by the next person. When you have arrived at your destination, be sure and hit “END RIDE” (it’s a light blue circle at the bottom of the screen) and then take a photo of it inside the app. This will notify BIRD that the scooter 🛴 is available for the next person. Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines and ride 🙂

I wish I can give negative stars for this garbage app. I don’t enjoy the ride. Wherever it shows me there’s a scooter there isn’t. The app never works. My camera doesn’t work ONLY ON BIRD. I uninstalled the app and logged back in and still it doesn’t work. Wherever it shows there is a bird to charge, only 25% of the time it’s there. And I’m talking about the easy ones to find. Everything about this app is trash. Their customer service never replies and is just nonexistent. I spent 20 minutes walking in 120 degree heat and NOT ONE OF THE SIX locations that showed there was a scooter was actually there. Not even on the same block OR the next block. The map never gets updated. The navigation on the map is also garbage and backwards. I spent over two hours driving to every location where there is a Bird. After one hour I gave up on the hard one. And even the green ones that are 5 dollars aren’t where the map shows. Bird is the worst and most garbage app I’ve ever downloaded in my life. You lost a customer, Bird. I hate this app. It’s not worth the wasted time, gas money and frustration. Do yourselves a favor and save your effort and time. Don’t download this garbage app.

Need to get much better at public access-ability and safety. The experience of riding a bird scooter is very fun but there are some things that the company is being very irresponsible about. Very recently they removed the feature allowing you to report bird scooters that are strewn into the sidewalks, bike paths, and even the streets. People who repeatedly do that should have their privileges temporarily revoked so that you are required to park them thoughtfully. Some people take issue with the fact that nobody actually wears a helmet, or the fact that you have to ride in the street even though on a scooter you can’t use hand turn signals, or the fact that kids are using them, or the fact that loads of people ride double. There’s other safety concerns that are harder to solve, but if bird is removing the ability to report bad parking, then they are not working to solve the nuisance that they’ve created with birds on sidewalks, or sticking out of medians into the street, or strewn across the busy bike paths. My neighbor uses a wheelchair and has to kick these fallen scooters out of her way just to use the side walk. Bird can do way better. That’s what tech is for right? solving problems. Bird should solve this problem.

READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS!. I go on a vacation and there are so many of these bird scooters so I thought it would be a good idea to take one and ride it for a while. well that was a big mistake! when you download the app they purposely make it confusing for you so you can't tell exactly what you're purchasing so then when you give them your card they know they got you. what I was doing was listed as $20, I got off the scooter and finished the ridding and they charged me another $20 that they sent you a receipt through email saying how much you spent, with start fees and anything else they can charge you with. Then when you look at your bank account every time that you pause your ride and resume it they charges you an extra $7.47 that doesn't show on the receipt or on the app, it tells you in the terms and conditions that they charge you but it doesn't say how much until you find out once you've been given all of these extra charges that you didn't know about.

Update charger experience seriously needed. This is a review from a chargers perspective. If your downloading this app to become a charger you may want to hold off for the next few updates. Being a charger seems great until you find out how confusing and frustrating it is. You guys at bird need to hire more user experience IT guys because the app is seriously lacking on the charger side. You guys need to clear all of the red scooters off of the map. Its a terrible idea and makes things more confusing for the chargers. If you guys need help locating lost or damaged scooters you should hire a more dedicated team to do so. All these red scooters are cluttering the map! Most them should at least should drop off from the map after a few days of not being found. The same goes for the yellow scooters. You guys should aim to make charging as simple as possible! It shouldn’t be a scavenger hunt to find a scooter you want to charge. You guys are seriously wasting peoples time and gas by having these miscellaneous birds that are not even at the location. If someones says the bird is not there it needs to be removed from the map (period). Or hire a dedicated person to go around and check if the birds are really even there. Something seriously need to change if you want to see a better turn out for charging these scooter. Others wise you have people out here wasting precious time.

Can’t go anywhere, support won’t refund. I bought a $25 ride pass for 5 rides at $5 each, thinking I could use scooters for a day while vacationing. I had never used bird scooters (although I have used competitors). Buying the pass was really confusing: it was getting an error when I tried to pay, my friend’s ride pass price was different from mine ($17) and it isn’t clear that you have to pay an additional $5 to load your account in order to use the ride pass. Once I got on my scooter, it would stall periodically, saying that I was on the sidewalk (I wasn’t). Then, it completely stopped, saying I was outside the zone it could be used. I looked at the zone and it was limited to about 1.5 mi radius from where I picked it up! I had no use for the ride pass, since this would be my first and last ride. I contacted support and asked to a refund, minus the $5 I had paid for the one ride, and the denied me twice, not even trying to be nice about it, basically saying, “you bought a ride pass and we can’t refund it after it’s used. You should have contacted us before you used it.” 🤦🤦🤦 Worst experience ever 👎👎👎

I want my money back and fix your scooters. I am a transfer student from Dubai and don’t have a personal mode of transport and resort to other means of transport. I found the system of electric scooters offered by Bird and other companies to be cost-effective and fun. And the fact that it helps me engage in conversation with people as I meet them on streets while asking for directions and enjoying the view is refreshing. Coming to the point: I took a 20 dollar package and was disappointed EVERY time I rode on of Bird’s scooters. Either the brake doesn’t work, the throttle is stuck or doesn’t retract or the scooter is noisy and squeaky (feels like it’s going to break any moment) or it is slow and sometimes I end up having to push the scooter myself. Not complaining about pushing the scooter, it is good exercise, but that’s not what I’m paying for. I unfortunately cannot use other company’s services until I finish the package I brought. Won’t be renewing the service package nor will be using this service again. Thoroughly disappointed.

Okay but hmmmmm. Had. 50% success rate in unlocking and you get charged if they don’t unlock. Good fun but expensive and unreliable There is no inbuilt way to complain about charging or get credit back The auto top up is set default so it can get expensive if you are unaware

Didn’t work. Tried twice, didn’t work. Still charged me $17. Shafted. 3/4 full battery . Don’t use

Tourists from Aussie, great idea!. What an awesome idea. We had no trouble accessing them. Just enter Australia when entering your licence. A mount for phones would be perfect, especially for non-locals, we had to stop to look at a map several times.

Fun and fast. I recommend everyone to try this

Looks good. Bird now available in Perth, Western Australia (Mar 2023). Not ridden yet but had to download the app to find accurate pricing. $1 unlock + $0.45/min. They have price plans options which seem reasonable and also a subscription option. Looks like lots of scooters and parking locations available in Perth which is great. The app is user friendly

Need to make it clears for foreigners. I’m from Australia but I went with other scooter company’s like Lyft and lime in Washington DC due to having to enter a drivers license number. I found out later I could have typed in Australia in the text box but it was too late. You need to make this clear to the user.

Slowing down at bikelanes. Love the app and product but Bird started to slow down at bike lanes where all other scooter providers work. This should be an easy fix by adjusting the areas where Birds can move fast but no one is addressing it for weeks. The entire central district in Vienna is affected by this issue.

Holiday fun. Cheers great little gadget

Horrible experience. The bird felt so unsafe an erratic compared to the lime it felt horribe. Will never buy again.

Awesomenesssssss. Awesome ride home!

Great scooter but be careful. Great scooter yes but don't use scooter if your phone is low on battery. My phone died and I was charged for hours until my phone was switched back on and my ride was stopped.

Not very long distance. We got 200m away from parking spot and they stopped, no matter which way we went.

Expensive. Far to expensive but fun. Would only use on holidays.

Helmets wouldn't unlock. Spent ages with a friend trying to unlock the helmets. Neither of us could get any of the scooters to unlock. Tried the Neuron scooters and they worked without any issues.

Very expensive. Far dearer than an uber

Hervey Bay bird ride. Not a bad way to see the esplanade at Hervey Bay. Maybe a little slow. But still pleasant. Parking and stoping the ride was an issue. There are also WIFI dead spots around Hervey Bay. So connecting sometimes to the APP to start the ride isn’t easy always. Went from Enzos to Urangan pier and back on one scooter. About an hour and 20 mins to do. Cost about $30.00 AUD. Bring your help, so you don’t share the public one.

Good but not perfect. We need too be able too use two at a time for our friends/family

Funnest ever!. So much fun!

No digital license support. Have to have a physical license, doesn’t support digital licenses, poor effort considering I rarely carry my physical license with me

Easy find a ride. Reliable bikes

Worst scooter hire app - do not trust. Does not unlock helmet on scooter hire - banned me for life - angry at myself Absolute discrimination Always use Neuron instead

ok 👍. great fun

More than one at a time. Should be able to hire more than 1 scooter.

WHAT A SCAM. Charged me USD 20 but wouldn't unlock because they couldn't process my drivers license detail, which all the other ride share apps like Lime and Lyft never ask for.

Great idea. Good fun - watch out for slow walkers

Group ride doesn’t work. Great service and soo but you they need to fix there group ride

Glitchy and poor customer service. Downloaded the app and purchased a day pass for the first time today. Unfortunately, the system is so glitchy that my e-scooter would stop working in slow zones, while other Bird users were still working in the same zone without issue. Wasted time troubleshooting with multiple scooters, resulting in being charged extra and never making it to my final destination. The support from Bird has been abysmal and insisted that there was nothing wrong. I highly do not recommend using this service as they are definitely not customer centric.

Birds in Perth CBD helmet locking bug. Locking helmet in wrong order after use leads to scooter becoming inaccessible

Very frustrating. Tried 3 times to get a scooter to work after signing up but all 3 didn’t work but they took 2 x $8.25AUD from my account. Have requested a refund and will cancel my sign up!!

😍. Awesome way to get around and see the sights at the same time. Bring it to Australia!

Venice Cruising. That was epic

Impossible to park, for way overcharged, won’t use again. Terrible experience

Don't bother trying if you are a tourist. I am visiting the US and thought this was a very cool idea as I don't have a car. Unfortunately the app requires an American drivers license for verification. Great idea in theory, but unfortunately the execution is lacking. I would probably rate it higher if they added the ability to verify with a passport or foreign drivers license.

No scooters. I don’t why this app is in the Australian iTunes shop. There are no scooters around.

overcharge - be careful. The App doesn’t work properly. Lots of time it is impossible stop the scooter even if you are in the correct area, with consequences overcharge. I saw many scooter with the same problem in few nights I used. The company even if they track you with the gps doesn’t reconsider the overcharge. They don’t care about your money. Very strange the App give me the possibility to stop it only after 25 min. Very disappointed about this company and the customer service. I still waiting for my refund…

Tons of fun!. Awesome fun. Seamless experience. Great app!

Wow. Didn’t expect that!!!! Went up a hill no problem, best part!!!!

Not functioning!!. The scooter did not work!!

Don’t rent, way over priced. What a rip off, We rode 2 scooters in Rome for less than 5 minutes and were charged €22.00. There is no where to email about the charge that I could find and I’m sure the very large agreement I signed said they could charge me that amount!

Horrible product, even worse service.. To make a long story short, when the unlock process (both scooter and bluetooth lock) and the scooter works well, it’s a good overall product. The thing is, it’s very often not the case. In 2 days of use, the BT lock didn’t unlock twice, and the unlocked scooters stopped working (not because of battery) 3 times (2mins after unlock). We ended up having to change these rides (cause they count as rides), and spent 40$ for rides we never could use. There is no live customer service, all that can be done is send an email (useful on a street corner with a product that doesn’t work). **To top it off in the best way, after being robbed of my money, I calmly sent an email in the following days to explain the situation, let them know I understand malfunctions can happen (although that often?), and asking for a way to make it right, and the only answer I get is a 3 short line email saying : “Sorry for the inconvenience, we appreciate the feedback, have a nice day.“ Do what you will, and you may have a good experience, but you might also get robbed of your money with no assistance whatsoever! There are green fruit rides and others that offer a way better experience!

deducts money from my bank account, but still 0 balance on bird. It deducts money from my bank account but there was no balance on my bird. IT STILL DEDUCTED MONEY!!! I talked to the support people, transferred my 3 time and never solved the problem. He just told me to talk to my bank and solve it with them. Never going to use this again, there are other scooters here.

Nowhere near as good as the competition. The scooters are really weak even with a gentle slope in a parking lot. The horsepower on them is mot so great in comparison to their competitors like Spin or Link. Also, unlike all of their competitors, Bird requires you to prepay at least $20 to add to your “Bird Balance”. None of their competitors do that. In the app there is the option of Pay Per Ride but it doesn’t work which begs the question of why it is there in the first place. More often than not, their QR codes don’t want to scan and the protective plastic over them makes it hard to even read the scooter’s ID to manually key it in. As a last resort, sure, but I’d suggest using one of their competitors first if you have that option available to you.

Hi. The scooters have great suspension the one asking of mine is to up the speeds on the scooters thanks

Useless. Can’t ride anywhere. App gives you instructions after you pay.

Buggy. App was buggy and after purchasing the ride pass it kept trying to get me to pay. Pass wording is somewhat misleading as well. Would not recommend.

The auto-balance. The ride is like the others. I have a real problem with the way they set up the auto renew. Just had my card charged 50 bucks when I thought I was paying per ride. I have real problem with companies taking my money before I have received a service. I want my money back

Was fun last summer, but annoying now. In my city, the scooters are required to make an incessant pinging noise when in use which is annoying enough to make me never want to ride a bird scooter ever again. Also I live on a bike lane but apparently the riding zone doesn’t extend into my neighbourhood. Even though there’s a parking zone right outside my apartment on the map… needless to say I won’t be using these scooters again. They were way more useful when the ride zone wasn’t so limited and they were silent so I could actually ride one to work. They’re useless now with all these dumb restrictions and rules.

Amazing time!. It was a great time going around with my friends on the scooter. Very enjoyable!

26$ for a 30 minute ride that was 2.4km. Complete scam

Edmonton Downton. I have tried twice now to ride Bird Scooters and both times there have been issues. First of all it’s impossible to find a scooter in Downtown Edmonton that is not out of battery or reserved. The zone for the scooters is very frustrating as it stops at Jasper ave. when there are many more major hubs such as Macewan University just a couple blocks North. When you actually do manage to find a scooter, it doesn’t work. I am aware that you have to kickstart them to work but for whatever reason they will suddenly stop working and “lose connectivity” and continue charging you for the ride. Do not use bird scooter if you don’t want endless frustration for what should be a fun an easy experience.

Convenient service, scummy business. Scooter rentals are nice, but the app tries to scam you out of your money by occasionally popping out a modal where you can buy a bulk ride pass for the low price of $50. And this ride pass expires.

Lime is better. U have to add $10 in order to start..

Great. Great item to scroll the city

Slower than the others. Nice I can pay for multiple, but it’s “slow zones” are exactly walking speed, so slow it’s hard to keep balanced.

Do not use in Ottawa!!! Awful. Had 2 different scooters with broken gps so they refuse to park in the designated areas bc the tracker won’t load your location even when you’re with 10 other scooters!! Absolutely awful AND you get charged while THEIR technology screws you over, I think it’s a scam. Awful awful experience.

COMPLETE SCAM. I had a group ride of 5 people for no longer than 1hr, and instead of being charged the $0.35/minute & ($1.15) deposit. My account was charged a total of $280! And they don’t see a problem with that! After they promised me a partiel (not a full) refund of $63.70! They are quick to turn off when detected in a red zone, but can’t detect when I’m far away. This app is really trying to feed off its consumers, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT to use BIRD and use Neuron or Lime! Or just simply walk if possible because for $280 I would’ve just walked.

Deducts money from your account. The scooters are fun and all but like it’s been about a month and I deleted the app cause I wouldn’t use the scooters any time from now and they still deducted money from my account after paying so many fees like It’s so stupid, they don’t even consult you if they gonna take money from your account.

Literally a scam. How the hell does this app have more than a 1 star rating. If you take one look through this apps reviews you see how many are saying that it’s a scam. The scooters beeped at us the whole time and incorrectly assumed where sidewalks were. Also tried to take a hundred dollars from me and switched the “auto-deposit” button on without letting me know. Great job guys, you made a great business terrible. How the hell did you get a contract for these things??!

Beware!. Bird scooters do not work well. Their app uses auto reload. Check your settings.

Don’t use it !. Unlike other scooter apps. It forces you to put a lot of money in your account before you can start. There is no notice when you ride out of zone. When you realize you’re out of zone, there is no power to ride it back! The service zone is not reasonable, only available in a very tiny area. There are better scooter apps. PLEASE choose an other one.

Wouldn’t let me end my ride and charged me $40!!. These scooters aren’t horrible, but the way they won’t let you shut it off and keep charging you is unacceptable. I couldn’t end my ride because of technical difficulties and now I’m -$40 because of it. I wouldn’t recommend these to anyone

I hate this thing. Stupid thing would stop beeping and wouldn’t let me park it. I followed all of the rules and regulations but I spent the whole 20 mins trying to get rid of the device. I got charged 12 bucks for nothing. I have tried other electric scooters of the Lime brand and the experience was amazing, shame that this company couldn’t do the same

Poor execution compared to competitors. Scooter didn’t stop screaming for the entire ride, from pickup to drop off. Despite studying the map it didn’t operate even in ride zones. Support for as useless. For $8 I walked the scooter more than I rode it.

Terrible app and customer service. Re Bird in Ottawa. The app doesn’t work at night time/when it’s dark out making it nearly impossible to end your ride. Took about 40 mins to end a ride in a designated bird scooter parking zone resulting in getting charged $25 for what should have been approximately $5 ride. Worst part is that supposedly 24-7 customer service is non existent. Would not recommend. Worst experience

Apple Wallet Compatibility Issues. Not very fly for a bird. It left me stranded on the ground. Said it supports Apple wallet but then it let me down. Guess I’ll have to go look for a Neuron :(

It steals money from u. This app sucks I takes my money from me switch to neaon

7 out of 7 scooters I tried were dead. As the title says, ever scooter I tried was dead

The app doesn’t work correctly. The is no intuitive, and if you purchase a pass day when you try to unblock a scooter or bike the app try to charge again. The section of help is not so good, you can’t find somebody to help to solve your problem. In general bad app.

Very Scammy. Signing up for a quick ½ ride in Tel Aviv and before I realized what’s happened, I’ve been charged over a hundred dollars!!! The scooters are great-the app is serious trouble… stay away!!!

Help and Settings covered by Promo Code?!? Fail :(. Has anyone had this problem? The Help and Settings options are both covered by the “Give a Ride. Get a Ride.” promo code. I haven’t been able to access either option and it’s quite troublesome. It’s been like this since the first time I downloaded the app a couple years ago which is why I originally gave up on the app. I opened it again today hoping to use it and it’s still the same! Has no one been able to figure out how to correct this? It’s very aggravating and I hope someone finally realizes this and it can be rectified.

Awful and Super frustrating. Doesn’t give you access to a keyboard when asking for a postal code if you don’t have Apple Pay.

Garbage customer service. The app might work well if your unit is functional but if you ever want a refund it’s almost like pulling teeth. Zero customer service

Didn’t even go, still charged me.. After me and my wife looked up scooter specks. And max weight is from 220lbs-260lbs. There should be some warning before you get charged. I’m 6’8” 310lbs. So frustrating that the scooter wouldn’t move. Wrecked the moment.

Poorly Executed Geo Location. The concept of sharing economy is exciting especially for scooters. You can expect to waste 10-15 minutes at the end of your trip convincing them scooter is in fact in its parking zone. Even 2 scooters in the same spot will show that they are not. Further work is needed as it relates to geo accuracy. Let me know when you make an update.

Terrible customer service. Tried the bird app for the first time, the scooter malfunctioned and wouldn’t move so I tried to end the ride. Apparently the scooter was already in a no park zone so I couldn’t end the ride. I contacted support to try to end my trip.. no one was available so I left an email and had to leave the bird scooter on the sidewalk. The next morning I was charged 26.78€ for a ride that I did not take, I think someone must have taken it after ? Customer support is being extremely difficult and will not refund my money. I couldn’t even use scooter and got charged. Never using this again

Avoid - fraudulent practices. Bird hides the fact that they will charge you $100 on initial ride (which means if you only use it once.. discover how horrible they are or you are travelling and can’t use them again - you are out $100. They set you up for automatic reload on this $100 charge - call your credit card company. They will recognize this fraudulent practice. In Ottawa, the scooters have a lot of dead zones - including in legal bike lanes that are blue on their map. Avoid the frustration and walk.

Costly and overcharged. At this price, I’ll buy myself a brand new car when I travel. My girlfriend was charged twice for a scooter that worked badly. I NEVER write reviews, but this one is well-deserved, unfortunately.

Never again. Had a very disappointing first experience with Bird. First, it took half a dozen attempts at scanning the scooter QR code and paying through ApplePay to actually unlock the bird. Finally, it was unlocked but the riding experience was a let-down as well. It beeps loudly and continuously and constantly thinks you’re in a pedestrian zone and cuts off power. There’s a designated Bird parking spot close to my house, so I headed towards it — unfortunately, the bird cut all power and started beeping and flashing violently because apparently I was out of the service area…even though I was close to their approved parking spot, so I had to walk it a block to the parking. Parking was the worst user experience I’ve ever had. It made me ‘scan’ my surroundings, scan the scooter QR code, then take a picture of the scooter. Meanwhile, the other three birds that were parked in that spot were beeping nonstop the whole time, pissing off the entire neighbourhood. After all that, I was charged more than $15 for what was 10 minutes of riding and 10 minutes of parking/walking because the bird decided to stop working. But I’ll never know how long the ride actually was because there’s no detailed receipt or trip summary. I can’t overstate what a horrible user experience that was. Never again

Never works. Don’t even bother Update: I scan the QR code. Nothing happens. Another scan. Apple pay pops up, and I pay. Nothing happens. I scan again. Nothing happens. On some lucky occasions, the Bird unlocks after five or six scans, but lately it’s not working at all.

Don’t use. Switch to lime!!. Tried this app. Couldn’t find enough scooters. Tried to cancel my card in case but you have to contact support to remove it and they don’t leave an easy way to contact them I hate this support team

Doesn’t accept all credit cards. I’ve tried to use multiple cards and the payment always has errors. Also no real tech support just a terrible answer bot that of course doesn’t answer my questions.

So much fun. Visiting Calgary and was intrigued. Had so much fun.

EScooter BIRD. We had great fun as a group along the river.

This company is a mess. I was super excited when I moved to a city with Bird scooters to ride them all the time, since I live in the downtown area. Unfortunately my experience with the app and rides was inconsistent, similar to what other users report. Hard to park, hard to unlock, no good support etc. so I switched to the Lyft scooters which are much better although not as easy to find (maybe bc everyone rides them instead of Bird lol). Then the nightmare really started. I have not ridden a bird scooter in over TWO MONTHS yet I constantly get emails from whoever Caroline is telling me I didn’t lock my scooter properly. When I try to reply and find out if they are either sending these by mistake, or I’ve been hacked, and ask to delete my account since there is no way to unhook your payment method from the app once it’s connected, I get NO RESPONSE for months. Outrageous. No wonder people throw these scooters into the river.

Cool app, but needs adjustment.. Bird is useful, efficient, and awesome in general. Rode their scooters in San Diego and LA a few months back, and had no issues. San Francisco was a different story. App was very buggy, I struggled to unlock any scooter at all, and was very frustrating. Not sure if my issues have connection with the location or the app was going through maintenance at the time. Just this afternoon I had two attempts at unlocking a scooter, one refused to activate, and the other would not unlock the bike lock and I was charged for it. Thankfully there were other brand scooters in the area, but tbh I’d prefer to ride Bird. This app has a ton of potential, but their minor issues are very frustrating. Cant wait to see how far this goes I’m sure they will be big in a few years.

Ripoff. Watch out for the ride passes. I paid for a single ride pass and rented a scooter. While I was on my way to intended destination, I stopped at a traffic light as it was red. While waiting to cross the road, the app ended the ride automatically because ‘I was idle for too long’. In reality, it was less than a minute as many lights take. And my ride pass went away with it as it was single use. I had not reached my destination and lost my ride pass I paid for. Now I had pay extra to go back (I didn’t continue my ride as I would have had to pay extra to go and then extra to come back. Moreover, because ride ended automatically, I could not take a picture to end the ride. I may get charged more on this ride. App making decision for when to end the ride automatically is not good. Especially when bird charges for starting a ride. Not just per minute.

Won’t let me cancel bird+ subscription. The help page says to select the bird+ tab in the app. However, there is no bird+ tab. I have no way to cancel the subscription. Waiting to see if and when they will respond to my request to cancel the subscription and terminate my account. They responded with an automated response and still have not addressed the issue of there being no “bird+” tab in the menu options on the app that allows me to cancel my subscription. Also, they just released a refund for my last monthly charge, which is nice but, they still did not give me confirmation that my bird+ subscription is being cancelled. Because of their terms and agreement, in which it states that they can continue to charge for subscription fees even after a person cancels their account, I am waiting to close my account until they cancel my subscription. In fact, they give an additional offer to cancel your account per your request to support. However, they dumped that back on me and told me to delete my account through the app. Like I said, they can still charge after deleting your account, so I want to make sure, with proof, that they have in fact cancelled my subscription, then I will feel comfortable deleting my account myself. We’ll see what they come back with next.

Unable to use service all summer, impossible to get help. Had a great time using Bird scooters last year. This year complete opposite. Have tried to use the service several times over the summer but for various either mechanical or app issues, each time I tried, I ended up getting charged and didn’t get to use a scooter. I got billed each time. But go ahead and try and get help. You just end up in a maze of FAQs and other unhelpful articles and links. Will be removing the app and not using the service again… have not found that any help to resolve my troubles exist. Worst service possible. Even worse experience. The scooters are a blast honestly. But can’t get help when you have an issue. If someone from the company would bother to get back to me I would try again, but if past experience is any indication, I don’t expect much.

Buggy application and poor customer service, smh. Just one more company compacting on the every day struggle. I often use bird to make the short trip from work to my bus stop so I can catch the earlier connection. Tonight wasn’t much different, got off at the stop, parked the scooter out of the way, hit “end ride”, took the picture of my scooter when prompted, and got on the bus. Everything went off as usual, or so I thought. Imagine my surprise when I find out the app had made a mistake and continued to charge me for time riding the scooter even though my GPS clearly put me far from it at the time. OK honest mistake right? Just one that is going to cost me $19 for a usually $3 dollar ride! I contacted the company and they had the audacity to offer me $7 of bird credit? Come on! After being a loyal customer with them for months they revealed themselves to be just another scam draining the bottom line. Never going to use bird again. Guess I’m a Lyft man now.

Atrocious App. The app is a nightmare. It doesn’t show you any ride passes (blank page) unless you put an actual credit card in (not Apple Pay) but it doesn’t tell you that. Then there’s no indication you’re using a ride pass - no way to see how many minutes or days remaining on the pass. And when you go to take a bike it still wants you to authenticate via Apple Pay! Even though my CC is default and I’m using a ride pass! Asinine! Then, no way to know which scooter on the app matches with which physical scooter when there are many. So you can’t choose a bike with a specific battery life because there’s no way to know which scooter to activate! The “chirp” function doesn’t work - it’s too fast to know which bike chirped. They need to fire their developers and hire someone from Lime because that app is much easier to use. I’ll be deleting this one. Oh and the “help” function doesn’t offer any help on any of this.

No brakes. Worst scooters of all the e scooter companies. Customer service is awful. The brakes fail sometimes which is why it’s important to wear a helmet. I had to try and stop the scooter with my foot after the brakes failed and ended up tumbling uncontrollably with my head inside a helmet hitting the pavement. The safety department were super cool however they failed to take that scooter out of service. I always check the brakes before I ride and fortunately realized I was on the same scooter with the broken brakes and traded it out for a different scooter. Recently I was told that my service had been suspended because I had done one or all of five different crimes none of which is true and I can’t reach anybody at bird to discuss the issue. I asked for a supervisor, a phone number, a phone call but the most they do is mark my text solved. I’m writing a letter to my city so that this issue can be resolved since I’m getting nowhere with bird.

Very good, but charger mode needs some love. Normal ride mode is great. Sometimes a little slow, but nothing to sneeze at. Charger mode works well about half of the time. Zooming out frequently will freeze the app if there are a large number of birds on the map. It seems like you are blocking user interactions while the server query runs (which makes sense), but if the server is very busy you spend a long time with an essentially frozen app. I suggest using some kind of clustering algorithm to reduce your pin count. For example, if I am zoomed out far enough, you could “group” birds that are overlapping with a single pin that shows the number of scooters in that small area. Overall, very good app considering the amount of magic happening on the backend. Keep it up!

They do not refund for broken scooters. The scooters are fun but I've had much better customer service from all other scooter apps. I tried to rent a bird but realized the wheel was completely jammed and the scooter wouldn't start. Bird charged me for the ride despite me locking it within 20 seconds and the scooter not moving at all. After reporting the issue to Bird I expected a refund instead I was given a partial credit. A credit I could live with but I would expect a full credit (Limebike scooters for example don't charge your card if the rental period is for less than 2 min). It was less than a dollar which is why I'm even more disappointed in this company- why are they stealing pennies from customers? Just be careful- and check your bank account if they do claim to give you a refund they likely have given you a partial refund. Also they advertise "give a ride get a ride" but it doesn't work on the app and customer service has yet to help.

Ridiculous charges, some not approved. Took a ride from point a to point b and put it in their map, so far so good, I put 10$ in my account, many problems with the scooter not going up on some hills, got to the destination, it tells me that I can’t park there (I already put the destination in the app and no problems), I had to go back 1-2 miles just to park it and then I had to walk. When I check the app, I see that on top of the initial 10$ they charged me extra 20$ from my account, never approved this, that’s why I put those 10$. As a conclusion, I was charged 20$ for a 4 mile ride, had to go back 1-2 miles because of the parking, couldn’t go up hill, had to push it, my account was credited without approval, and when I addressed the issue they acted like it was raining, just be careful for these type of business practices, just take an Uber, it’s way cheaper and at least they respect you!

Amazing....but #Tallpeopleproblems. I love riding birds through the city. It ads another level of excitement to any date. Unfortunately I am 6’6” 250lbs and the Bird Scooter, much like everything else in life was not mass produced for giant people. The handle bars are uncomfortably short forcing me to either ride in a half squat position or awkwardly leaning down and hunching my shoulders over. Also, my top speed is a good 1/2 of what my normal sized girlfriend gets. So what ends up happening is a nice Saturday morning ride on the BeltLine ends up looking like a girl speeding away from me while am yelling at her from an ever increasing distance to slow down while hunched down like I’m trying desperately to reduce drag.

Flawed business model. At first I saw the Birds and thought, “Oh, that’s kinda cool, and interesting.” After a few months I see they’ve more or less unleashed chaos on the streets. The problem isn’t the app, or the scooters, it’s the users. It seems the people riding them often don’t feel any sort of responsibility for them since they don’t own them and aren’t held accountable for how they use (or abuse) them. As a result the Birds are often abandoned blocking sidewalks, alleyways, and streets and cluttering up people’s yards. That’s on top of those people who ride them recklessly on sidewalks and in traffic putting others at risk (makes me wonder if the riders think Birds have a forcefield for protection around them that makes them magically invincible). The dockless idea is interesting, but, unfortunately, people can’t seem to handle it and police themselves, and Bird is in no position to hold their customers accountable for how they ride or where they leave the scooters with this business model.

(Beware) so let down.. Been seeing these scooters around town. Thought they were cool. So today I had to walk across town after a wedding on a hot day thought it would be fun and easier to ride one of these scooters. So I quickly signed up for the app. In my haste I apparently “bought” $20 in credit. Which I didn’t realize is what I signed up for because I literally just clicked through the sign up. It was too late to undue what I had purchased, so I thought, whatever now I can ride a bird home. Not so. End of night comes, and the app reports ZERO scooters within miles around me. In fact it fails to report any scooters on a map at all. I restarted the app, etc. deleted and redowloaded. I was stranded! and my budget for a ride home completely blown on bird credit I didn’t even want. Walked home miles because of bird. Just great. I’d give it zero stars if I could. I really really wanted to like bird, but my first experience just destroyed it...

Charger life is tough. There’s lots of competition and my mind is kind of blown by the amount of cheating and hoarding. The only thing that surprises me more is that bird doesn’t really seem to do anything about it. I forgot to scan one of my Birds and immediately got put on a 4 day suspension where I could not charge, so I’m not sure how these cheaters pull off 10 or 12 birds in a garage for a week. Bird also won’t release more chargers, so charging more than 8 or 9 birds a night is tough and at $5 a piece (which is pretty normal, the higher priced ones are usually dead markers) it’s hard to get the right time/money ratio. Over the weekend I usually get crazy and spend 3 or 4 hours each day collecting and sorting birds. I usually charge 12 or 13. One day I did 25, that was a long one.

A game of trying to find where it’s OK to park. It’s like a fun game of gambling if you’re into that kind of thing. Your scooter starts beeping. You don’t know what it wants. You try to lock it. You’re notified you’re not allowed to lock it in that area. You’re losing money every minute it’s not locked. It’s a thrilling race against time! The app doesn’t tell you where the parking zones are. Giving you hope of being free from the game, it tells you the only thing it needs is a photo of the scooter in a particular place. But time is ticking and it gives no indication of that place. It’s a fun game if you’re bumming around alone on a Tuesday afternoon, however, I wasn’t doing that. I dragged the thing around for an hour looking for a place to park it. I took 4 million photos of it in places it prompted me to park (near a bike rack, away from sidewalks, etc.) I now have more photos of this scooter on Venice beach than I have of my vacation with my boyfriend.

Great Concept. My review is 4 and not 5 stars for a few reasons. First one being the new “balance” feature; I think paying for individual rides is more practical than having to add $10, $20, or $50 onto the account when my average ride costs less than three dollars. I wish there was an option to still pay for single rides one at a time. Second, the fact that the scooter unlocks and starts charging me money, yet doesn’t want to “connect” to my device, so therefore the scooter doesn’t start. But is somehow still unlocked.. I’ve had to call at least 5 times for refunds due to these errors. Props to customer service though, they’re always helpful. Overall I love riding these scooters but there could be a few minor improvements.

Need a more simple pricing model. When you’re choosing this app on the side of the street because you’re tired and need to get somewhere, you want to just be able to understand how much you’re paying. I know if I went back now to try to do the same thing I wouldn’t be confused, but at the time I was frustrated with not understanding what I was paying, thinking I might actually be paying way more than I need in credit, then getting the actual bike started. The instructions for taking your first ride, or a new user experience need to be simplified from the full or continued user experience. I was a hair from cancelling the whole thing and beginning a refund process. Then, once I did figure it out, I was charged $20 for my friend and I to go 0.75 miles. That just seems a bit steep. I’ll be trying Lime to compare.

Just poor quality. Most of their scooters are broken or operate very questionably. I never feel safe when I am riding a bird because 98% of the time the handle bars are super wobbly or something else on the scooter feels like it is going to fall off. Their customer service is terrible no one replies when you report the scooter to be damaged or malfunctioning which leads me to believe that they don’t care and that they don’t maintain their fleet. They are price gougers forcing me to pay for a 10 dollar credit instead of per single ride. I think this is what bothers me the most I don’t understand why they force you to pay them a minimum of 10 dollars and why I can’t just pay for the ride per use. Honestly this is a terrible company that shows little interest in the feed back their customers give them or in maintaining the operational integrity of their fleet of scooters I regret giving in and paying them 10 dollars again for a service that is so sketchy.

Rather nice. They work fine go decently fast. Doubling up is to bad the app is fairly user friendly and the one day pass in not only a good deal but also quite convenient. With the pass you can do the whole day while switching scooters every so often which is nice.I used them in dc and it was pretty nice. I will also note that they are far cheaper than the limes which charge by the minute like my mom ended up paying $70 for a couple hours with lime but $40 for a couple hours with bird and we could have stayed for hours more with bird at the same price compared to lime which would have cost dozens more. In conclusion use bird and bird good job

Hated it. This app will let you put any card information on ring or right instead of it determining that’s not correct try again like how Uber detects it lets you just enter whatever then it doesn’t even give you the option to delete the information you have to contact customer service who has me waiting for longer then 10 minutes all the while I’m standing in the sun pregnant then it’s 10 scooters in the red zone and one all the way down to the block not in the red zone like that’s so irritating to find a scooter you can actually ride then the free ride never showed up what a waste of 30 minutes in the baking sun I deleted the app I’m over it what a horrible experience NEVER AGAIN.

Super Nice. I live on a college campus where I have to park on the perimeter all the way across campus from my dorm, and Bird has made traveling to my car enjoyable. When I had to walk all the way to my car, it sucked. It was always such a nuisance, and even when I was in a rush it took at least fifteen minutes to complete this walk. With Bird, however, all I have to do is walk my way to a scooter, where I am able to simply hop on there and enjoy my ride. Tonight, I chose this over getting a ride simply because I enjoy riding the scooters. It’s fun, and it brings me back to the days when I would ride my own scooter around town as a kid.

GPS System. I think this app is overall good. I think the 1 and 2 stars reviews are over exaggerating. However, a really huge improvement on this app would be adding a gps system. If you have somewhere you want to go but you don’t know how to get there you would most likely use Maps or Google Maps to get there. The problem is, Google Maps may say to take a certain route and when you arrive, you find out you can’t pass there because its a no go zone on the Bird app. (Which happened to me) Bird should give you a personal gps route avoiding the no go zones and the slow zones if possible. In addition it would be great if they could add a phone stand on the scooters making using a gps system far more easier.

Literally a rip off and dangerous!. This stupid bike stops, like literally will not let you move at ALL if you’re in a stupid “no ride zone”!! It wouldn’t let me ride on sidewalks, parks, and most streets which made this thing horrible to ride! My friends had their own bikes and they had to keep waiting for me because I had to push the bike like an actual scooter! And it would stop in sketchy places and I was honestly scared it was gonna stop me somewhere that I would end up getting kidnapped or something and I’m not exaggerating because I was riding in downtown Tampa at night which is not somewhere you want to get stopped in a random street. On top of that, they freaking charged me $20+ when I initially only signed up to pay $5 and I thought it would stop when I ran out of money…. Nope, they just keep charging you without telling you! How nice. This thing made me feel so unsafe and it was such a pain I feel like they owe ME $20!

Best for tourists and joyriders. This whole idea will work better for tourists, not commuters. This is because the scooters are most easily found by sight, due to their concentration in high foot traffic areas. Just unlock the one in front of you and you’re GTG. But don’t bother using the map to find an isolated one in a low-traffic area, because it isn’t likely to actually be there where it’s accessible, and low on juice if it is. You’ll end up walking more than if you’d just done that in the first place. There’s an option to take photos at the end of the ride to facilitate finding it, but I have yet to see such a photo or a “see photo” button when I’m trying to find it.

Birds don’t even work sometimes. PLEASE READ: I’ve only bought a bird twice. The first time it worked fine. The second time, it was 8:30 pm and 30 degrees outside and I needed to take a bird 0.75 miles to my car. As soon as I activated it, I realized the motor didn’t work and I had to use it like a regular scooter all the way to my car in the freezing cold weather. I’ve ridden them before so I knew I was working it right too. And on top of that I was sick (which is why I choose to take a bird in the first place). After going half way, I had to cross a busy intersection so I tried to hit the brakes to slow down. The brakes didn’t work either. I had to physically jump off and start running besides it to slow it down before I hit the intersection. Overall, very disappointed by the experience and I’ve been trying to reach out and get a refund for $1.75 because I would’ve been better off walking and I couldn’t get anyone to help me with that. Definitely not going to try birds again for a while.

What Customer Service?. I submitted help requests because for some reason after uninstalling/reinstalling the app, it will not allow me to ride or charge anymore. Each one of the tickets I’ve submitted have been closed out without any response. The app doesn’t allow me to ride or charge anymore. If my account has been terminated, you’d HOPE they’d have the decency to explain WHY. However, since I have not once violated any terms of service on either the rider or charger end, it doesn’t make sense why they’d decide to terminate my account. After looking online, it seems I’m not the first person this has happened to, it’s a frequent occurrence with this company. Looking at the app (and my email), it seems each of the 8 emails/messages I’ve sent have been closed it without any reply. Terrible customer service and terrible way to do business. I’ve been letting everyone know how ridiculous my entire experience with them lately has been.

WARNING: Cutting wires!. First off this concept is amazing and I love their service. The problem is with the people who don’t. I just came across a whole flock of birds with the wire cut, leaving them useless. I have also gotten on a Bird with a cut wire and didn’t realize it and when I tried to ride it, well, it didn’t work. (And I was charged) this is more of a warning I guess to anyone who is out looking for one: if you see a cut wire, don’t use it! Also if it’s near the end of the day and you see a flock of them together on the app with 100% charge, best to steer clear. I don’t know what the company can do (protected wires? Idk) so like I said this is more of a warning. Other then that I love this service so much, it’s so much fun.

Software lacking. I has a charger that makes money by charging scooters for BIRD, I can’t stand the fact that whenever a scooter won’t release in the morning because of a network error, I have to wait a day or two for them to remove it from my list so I can go out and get more scooters. I lose a lot of money this way and it’s stressful. You cannot pick up scooters when there is an overdue scooter in your “tasks“ menu . Maybe they can put an option in the app so that when a charger cannot release a Bird he can just tap on the scooter in “my tasks“ and it will give him an option that says “cannot release bird“ that way it is removed from his “tasks“ and they can resolve it back at the office while he is still able to pick up scooters that night and continue making money.

Delete this app immediately. I’ve been a bird user for a long time and all of the sudden I started encountering broken scooters which are massive time wasters because I took MY time looking for them. Just right now I looked for a scooter ans it said it’s near, I said ok I’ll take this and went for it when I checked the wheels it’s the same broken scooter I encountered like a week ago I said ok it’s fine at least I didn’t spend too much time looking for it and then I found another scooter that’s near by I looked for it and i didn’t find any scooter from where it said there was. I looked for about 15 minutes, missing my bus that’ll take to work hoping to find this scooter I went to the exact spot where the scooter was. There was nothing. Bird took my time in renting THEIR scooters. Which makes me write this review telling you they have horrible product I was fine with this happening to Me once, but once or twice no, I’m deleting this app.

Disappointed. This is my second time I’ve come up with an issue with this company. The third time I rode one of their scooters I fell off due to their brakes not working and they didn’t do anything for my injuries. And now one of their scooters was not working properly, I immediately canceled my ride (it was only 10feet of trying to work the scooter) and I’ve yet to get a response to refund my $10 they charged me for TRYING to use their scooter. The customer should not be the one punished for your BROKEN SCOOTERS! I want my refund! I’m very unhappy with your broken scooters placed on the streets to “use”. Unless you want to play a game of chance (get injured/ have your money taken) don’t use this company. Yeah the ride is cool when it actually works but I haven’t gotten a chance to fully enjoy due to these constant issues I have been having with their product and the company not helping out with it.

Poor experience, very expensive. Today my girlfriend and I tried these scooters for the first time. I had expected them to be pretty inexpensive because, ya know, they’re scooters. For some reason they ended up costing way more than an Uber, especially if you add up the cost of each of our scooters vs 1 car ride. This would have been fine (they’re more fun than am uber too I guess), except they don’t even really work well. The accelerators were jerky and only worked some of the time. We spent over half of our trip walking the scooter or waiting for each other’s scooter to start working again, which is significant when you pay by the minute. It is a great concept. If it wasn’t so expensive or if it worked well it might be worth it. But paying a lot of money for something that doesn’t work is not something we are likely to continue doing.

Great Idea, surprisingly great execution. Honestly, I thought these scooters were a silly idea. I didn’t think there was any way they would catch on. Now, I’m convinced that they’re a step towards the future of transportation. The scooters are surprisingly sturdy, well built, reliable, and quick. The app is great to deal with, despite a few tiny bumps in the road (pun intended). The customer service is top notch, and has been more than considerate, professional, and helpful. Considering this company and this product are quite young, I have great faith that Bird will continue to improve and grow. 5 stars for sure, would totally recommend for quick, cheap, convenient transportation as well as just for a fun time.

DO NOT BUY. Absolutely no customer service. Bought two scooters ($1k each) in January 2023. A few months later the motor on one of them started making a high pitched whirring sound anytime the throttle was hit. Stopped using it and reached out to customer service via email to see how to get a part sent or get it fixed. Never heard back so I reached out again, finally got a response asking for the serial number ect. And was told I would hear back from them to arrange getting it fixed and never heard back. I have emailed serval times over the past few months and now get NO RESPONSE. I paid $1k for a scooter we can’t even use and I can’t even get ahold of someone for assistance. I even resorted to messaging them on Instagram and they still won’t answer. DO NOT PURCHASE these are so expensive and if it breaks you won’t get any help or response from customer service.

Great concept. Badly implemented. The concept is great. Out of the ten times I tried to use it I have only been able to do it once. Not going to lie it is a great. Today was the wort day for them. I took a scooter they charged me and everything but then the scooter didn't work. And guess what? I did not get my money back. Their customer service never replies. In the afternoon I went searching for a scooter to take me back home. I walked to the nearest one and it said it was damaged. Then I walked a block further to the next scooter and it said it had no connectivity (this happens VERY frequently). Then I walked about 4 blocks towards a place which showed that two were parked. When I got there, surprisingly there were none. I gave it a last chance and searched for another one that was nearby but it wasn't there as well. By the time I got home walking I had walked about twice the distance I had to walk all due to the unreliable birds. Very unsatisfied by this app and service.

Zero customer service when you need help. Had not used my Bird account in a year then when I went to use it, the app did not work and I could not ride on my account. Then 5 days later I check my bank account and saw a charge from bird that I did not authorize so since I was not able to ride a bird I tried to contact customer service to ask what the charge was from. Customer service was a robot and all it did was send me article after article — none of which had an answer to what the charge was from nor was I able to find anything on refunds. Moral of the story, once the app has your card on the account it will charge you regardless if you were able to use it or not and you will not have access to any customer service. Go with any other scooter service because this app thinks it’s name — not it’s care for it’s customers — is more than enough for people to use their scooters.

Works like other electric scooters but not as good.. Was in Paris and found all the electric scooters that populated the city since my last visit. It looked like bird was one of the more prominent around where I was so I decided to download the app and give it a try. Apple Pay wouldn’t let me put money on my bird account. Had to manually enter credit card info twice. Once I got started, first scooter didn’t work. The app unlocked it and the scooter came to life as it should but the propulsion wouldn’t work. So parked it and got another one. All others I didn’t have issues with. A few days later I was hungry and decided to take a scooter to grab a bite to eat and come to find out, THEY TURN OFF ALL SCOOTERS AT 9pm!!! I seen all other brands of scooters roaming around the city late at night but just not Bird. Should have went with one of the alternate brands from the get go

Best app ever invented. I’m usually a very harsh critic and give very few positive reviews. But I have to say that the bird app is the greatest software ever invented. Facebook doesn’t stand a chance. But I have to say it didn’t always start this way. This app used to be really terrible and very buggy. It was basically unusable. But all of a sudden the bugs just started disappearing and underneath blossomed a beautiful flower. I called Bird headquarters to find out what it was they did. They told me that they hired a modest, humble, but good looking programmer, named Edgar. I was awestruck. Now my life will never be the same. Thank you Edgar. You are my salvation. You have made the bird a better safer place because in this mad world.

Bad service.. Really think about it before riding this ride and making sure that you are understanding everything you are reading as they make up think that you are only paying 5 dollars for 30 minutes. The app is very frustrating and the pricing doesn’t make sense as I rode for 20 minutes and my boyfriend rode for under 15 minutes and he got charged more that I did and the best part was he started after me. We couldn’t even ride them at they were beeping the whole time as we stopped several times to figure it out before we stopped completely and got charged for not even being able to ride the ride. It is not very user friendly and not a lot information given to help you. Take another thought before riding as you never know how they are going yo act on you even when out scooters were fully charged.

Just a baby. The ride are simple the get you to and from. Tech is okay could be a lot better but good for just being a baby. The real thing I'd say make immediate improvement on is the scooter itself. It could have better wheels and overall quality structure could be improved. What if we added levels to better scooter as in basic, and premium. Premiums can offer Bluetooth speakers, or something flashy. Something along that line. Give the riders a different experience. Something to separate and improve the over to competitors. Now we could talk about adding a month service where you personal rent the scooter for a cheaper price and they charge it at home and eliminate the middle man charges ..........let's now go on a ramble now .

Did not work for me. I do not normally write reviews unless I was either blown away or disappointed in a product. I see the app has a 4.9 average rating, so maybe it was just my experience. I had to report to San Diego for two weeks for active duty orders, so a group of us all downloaded the app to get around easier. However, when we would go to park, my associates were able to park without issue. It would not let me park (even though 5 other birds were able to) and repeatedly caused me to have to move again and again to find a “better spot.” I also had several times where I would start the ride and the timer would start, but it would state there was an error and to try again. Repeatedly. This was during full bar coverage with Verizon LTE as well and no other app issues. Bird did refund me a small amount for one failed ride, but it wasn’t enough to restore my faith in the app. Fun to ride and I wanted to love it, but too many connectivity issues for me, sadly.

Great but needs a few key features. In SF Area these are very popular right now and there are not enough scooters. I wish there was the option to reserve a nearby scooter for 2-5 minutes, as long as you’re within say X feet of the bird. The reason for this is every time I start walking towards the closest bird, even if it’s just 2 blocks away, it will be taken before I get there. Often times the person will just be hovering over the bird before they start their ride so the scooter is still “active” but this person is holding on to it waiting for their friend or something. I find myself ping ponging around trying to grab a scooter before someone else a lot and end up wasting more time and energy than just taking a lyft or uber.

Scamming for different rates for different users. My husband and I were on a ride back home and decided to try bird for the first time. Looking at the price online we thought it would be a good option since we live 3 miles away from downtown Austin. We decided to download the bird app for the first time of which we both activated with scooters right next to each other to go home. Later we found out that I was charged double the price as my husband as the unlock fee was one dollar but my cost per minute was $.35 instead of my husband‘s fee of $.15. I wrote customer service to out what was the issue and was told that my payment window on my bird app was updated to the most current price. I will not be using bird ever again as this was a horrible customer experience and even though my husband was charged a lesser amount he has also decided to diss activate the app and only use a deer scooter companies who are transparent with their pricing and provide good customer service.

Doesn’t compete. Just use Lime or Jump. Bird forces you to input money into an account on their app, which is inconvenient and forces you to pay in large increments. Additionally they force you to input your drivers license info into their app, which varys from a minor inconvenience to a major red flag depending on your opinions on data privacy. also I suppose this depends on where you’re riding, but I have yet to find a Bird scooter that actually works well, the one time I came upon a bird and was actually able to use it, it’s battery died about a minute later. the other 5 or so times I’ve tried to use it (trying to use up the minimum $10 I had to input onto the account) it has displayed an “unavailable “ message after spinning its wheels for 5 minutes. in my experience riding rental scooters, JUMP (by uber) and Lime is a far more user friendly and pleasant experience where you come out feeling like you found a bargain, not like you were cheated.

First timer. Today was my first time riding. In the beginning things started off buggy where I started downloading the app, wasn’t a big deal so I won’t go into detail on that. As for the ride, my scooter kept shutting off mid rides. Thought that was strange but whatever, I then go look for a parking station and as soon as I found one n parked my ride was still going. I didn’t noticed when I walked to my area I needed to be but had to run back to see what the problem was. I hit the end ride button multiple times then had to ask a worker of a different company why it wasn’t letting me park. He then told me about the company and said this was always the repeating issue. I rode the scooter for less than 10 minutes but the ride kept going even when I was off and parked and paid for 20+ minutes for $20. Kinda feel ripped off for something I used less then the time charged to me.

False advertising. I had a mixed experience with them. The good: First scooter I found worked perfectly and it took me on a 1.2 mile ride flawlessly. There was a tutorial, and I felt very safe in terms of how to use it, and the tutorial does a pretty good job in showing you how to do everything. Very nice in that aspect. Scooter was in good condition and it was easy to start and finish (park). The bad: they say it’s $1 to start and then $0.15 per minute. My ride was 1.2 miles, in 16 minutes. So the math goes: $1 to start, plus $2.4 for the 16 minutes. If the taxes were 20%, that would be $0.78 and so my generous estimate would be $4.18 for the ride. Except they charged me almost $8. That’s not fair. It’s actually false advertising and they should be punished for doing that. As a first timer, they did not impress me, and didn’t stick to their word either. The result is a 2-star rating, unfortunately. That’s actually generous after their false advertising.

Makes chargers lives miserable. The idea is great - the implementation needs plenty of improvement! * Showing birds that are lost, cluttering the map, sending people on wild goose chases without a chance for success * often displaying error “something went wrong”, with no indication how to make it work, often not even possible to see what state the process is! * displaying birds that have long been picked up - either by riders or chargers * „help“ feature hidden, difficult to get to, copy function partially disabled * damage report doesn’t allow text, but has only subset of what could be wrong. * fully charged birds show as 1/2 charged in app * filter in „find birds“ map loses values when leaving and going back in * pics taken and sent through help dialog get lost * help dialog gets stuck to the point where the app has to be killed and restarted to be useable And more issues i can’t remember right now! All in all, the app, the processes, and the scooters are in dire need of improvement! For the little money even if everything goes smoothly it is barely more than minimum wage. But, things hardly ever go smoothly! I can’t remember a single instance were both the capturing and releasing went without a single problem - and I’m doing this for 4+ months now!

Terminated me for NO REASON still have SCOOTERS in our possession. My boyfriend and I collected scooters it was fine until the app would freeze every single time we even opened it. One day the app just took 2 of the scooters we had captured from our task list, we tried contacting them soo many times and they NEVER responded. The next day the messages we had written to ask them about the problems we were having, were no longer there. They DELETED all the conversations; yet we still had/have these scooters at home. NO ANSWER. My boyfriend went to pick up scooters and the app logged him out and said he was no longer elegible to use the bird app. They terminated his account without even letting him know. The 2 scooters are still in our possessions. NO ONE GIVES US ANSWERS. That was just a waste of our time and his gas. Scooters remain in our home because we did CAPTURE them Until they TERMINATED his account. You guys should AT LEAST pay us our $12 and then terminate us

Overcharged and Scammed with no Customer Help. We tried to out our scooters away in a designated parking section, just for the app to not let us end our rides and tell us it’s not a parking spot, even though it clearly was one and there were other scooters there. We decided to ride to where we originally picked up the scooters but that, unfathomably, was not a parking spot either. We couldn’t end our rides and it kept charging us, with a total cost of 125 dollars just for riding three scooters for an hour. During this stress I called the number and tried to report this issue, but conveniently there were no people to help us with our problem no matter how much I tried calling. We are trying to get our money back but we aren’t sure if we will be able to. The fact that public transportation costed us a weeks worth of grocery’s for one hour is disgusting.

A little glitchy. I’ve been both a charger and a mechanic and both sides of the app have issues that seem to go away and then re-appear. 1. Starting the app initially always goes well, but occasionally the toggle to switch to charger/mechanic mode either does not appear or takes several seconds or a couple minutes to show up. This occurs on both my and my girlfriends phones. 2. On the charger side, Bird seems to waffle between wanting to use damaged-bird nests and not using them. This seems to change back and forth depending on (possibly) who did the update and what version they chose to build off of. This is easy! What will you do when you have a hard issue to resolve? 3. Also on the charger side, the option to mark a bird as damaged is currently not available (See last two sentences of item 2 above). 4. All of these issues have been reported to the charger help desk, but the info seems to go NOWHERE! Here is a typical example of the the response you get when asking a question - “Charge and release as normal” If the question were this simple, there would be no reason to send the question and no use for a “help desk”. Bird might be a great company someday. Right now, they have a tremendous amount of work to do.
