Love it but very grainy and freezes. I am quite fond of your service. I think you offer an amazing value with a lot of variety. I stream your service on my television and my phone. The problem I have is, the service is terrible on my brand new iPad Air. I’ve reached out to your customer service numerous times only to be told to stream online Wi-Fi. Well, that doesn’t solve the problem and I don’t always have Wi-Fi and I shouldn’t have to use my Wi-Fi to use your service when I’m paying for unlimited cellular data. I’ve used your live chat, I’ve use email and I recently sent an email a little over a week ago and I still am not hearing back from anyone.. I keep the app updated regularly and I still have a grainy choppy service. I would love it if someone would help me but I can’t seem to get anyone to help

Good shows but not worth it.. The app has good shows but in my opinion it’s just dumb the app works on my phone but it doesn’t all ways want to connect to my tv, I have a Vizio tv and it doesn’t have the app Philo so I try to connect it from my phone to my tv and only sometimes the app works, half the time it’s usually freezing and when an ad pops up it turns off from my tv and I don’t know why, it’s really aggravating when your into a show and half to keep going on your phone to fast forward the ads then connect it back to the tv. It has good shows and all but that should be fixed yall need a lot of fixes to this app.

Advertisements. I know there has to be ads on your service. Realizing we are stuck with ads, they at least need to be changed. Seeing the same ad 5 times per 30 minute episode was already ridiculous, now I have the same ad 5 times in a row. Perhaps lowering advertisement costs and increasing ad sales would provide a variety of ads so that I can at least pretend I am not being brain washed. Is a person or a computer choosing the ads? Even the tech in the control room can’t possibly stay sane with one ad playing 5 times in row. Now that I’ve said the same thing 5 times in a row you can clearly understand my frustration. Also, why-lo would there be philo ads on philo. We clearly already have the service if we are seeing a philo ad on philo. That’s just redundant and seems like common sense that it is unnecessary, especially how repetitive it is.

Love it!. My husband and I finished the three seasons of Yellowstone on Paramount+ and decided we couldn’t stop there, so we subscribed to Philo. I’m so excited to watch all the Hallmark movies and Alaska PD. The amount of media and the option to record and skip through the ads is great. I haven’t used it yet, but I will in the future. Great deal for what you’re paying, in my opinion. Also, their customer service is great. I’m having issues with Chromecasting, and their service team helped me as much as possible. I was even disconnected, and the sales rep emailed me with extra steps I could follow. They didn’t work, but I think it just might be a glitch. It’s the thought that counts!

Awesome Awesomeness!!!. I’ve been with Philo for over a year and I love the price and I love the shoes it literally has every show I watch on regular cable without that high price. I really love that I can see the newest episodes live or right after they aired and I love missed them; I don’t even have to record them just save the network channel or show itself and you will see the latest. Best tv app for the price, oh you can also cast it to your smart tv if ur unable to get the app on your device.

You get what you pay for. I have been a Philo subscriber in the past and thought the service was okay but canceled due to the price (really not a good value considering the channels) and the advertising. I know you say that you run fewer ads than other live services, but I’d like to see a side by side comparison. In looking at the channel line up, there is a lot of duplication, with Sundance TV, TV Land and one or two others airing the same situation comedies and old drama series over and over. The only way to get a decent movie channel is to purchase add-ons, which increases the price, and the service loses its affordability. You have some additional “free” channels that you include in the monthly price, but it’s basically filler to increase the channel count and things that no one has heard of. There is such a thing as quality over quantity instead of mind-numbing junk. It’s not the same for everyone, but I would be paying $25 a month to watch about 5 channels. I don’t understand why you need my phone number; I think you are the only provider who uses that at sign up.

It’s ok. I think the app is great there’s a few channels like adult swim and other news channels I wish were associated with the account. I think the biggest deal with the app is that I can’t downgrade the screen so I can do other things on the phone while commercials play. You are forced to watch the commercials even though they mean nothing to you. I would prefer to do other things for the four or five minutes that they make you watch commercials to continue the program. I’m still on my trial version at at this point I’m probably going to cancel before it’s over because it doesn’t have an news And doesn’t let me shrink the screen down so I can still do other things on my phone while listening or paying attention to the app.

Highly Recommend. I’ve been using Philo for years now I’ve tried multiple competitor apps all of them are either overpriced with less channels, don’t have very many network channel, don’t have all the channels I want in the same package you’ll have to buy multiple packages Philo is the most reasonable priced(I’m almost certain it’s the most affordable) with the most network channels (most importantly they have all the channels I wanted available for one low monthly rate)than any app of its kind you can’t go wrong with philo

Why is it this price when there are 2 minute adds?. They are far too expensive to justify the cost. Let me charge you double the amount of most streaming sites. Force you to watch 2 minute adds every 10-15 minutes while trying to enjoy a movie that you have to pay 3 extra dollars for you to be able to even watch but also charge you 25 freaking dollars… I just can’t wrap my mind around it. What people are honestly paying an arm & a leg to watch ads? I’m so confused how they have 4.8 stars. Are these stars able to be bought? I can’t make it past the greed of this company. If anything get rid of the ads. I mean it’s just ludicrous to me!

I hate commercials…. I was hoping you had a version that I wouldn’t have to listen to commercials. If I wanted to watch them, I could watch regular TV; but when I’m paying for the service, the commercials are simply an annoyance that makes me want to cancel the service. I absolutely hate commercials! I can deal with them by turning them down, but it would be better if you could either opt out of them altogether, or after watching 4 or 5 minutes of the ridiculous stuff they would simply disappear. This is one distinguishing characteristics of your competition - Netflix…no commercials…EVER!!!

The only thing is good for is to buffer. I have been on the phone with the TECHS. Two or three times. I have rebooted my router until I’m sick of it. I have put them down as my provider. I have done everything they said. And the past five minutes it has buffered 10 times it takes me an hour to watch a 30 minute program. This needs to be fixed because paying $25 a month on a fixed income is hard enough, when you don’t even get service worth it why bother. I do not want to have to reboot my modem 50 times a day to watch a program. Since I have already paid for this month, I will wait to cancel. Maybe in that time it will be fixed

Do not waste your money. I’ve never written a review for an app but this app just makes me mad. Worst experience i’ve ever had watching a movie. The quality is not that good and there were around ten 15-30 second ads every 15 or so minutes throughout the movie. I wish I was exaggerating. And an ad watermark on the screen. I don’t even want to find out if it’s like this for the rest of the shows/movies. I’m glad I got a free trial before spending $25 a MONTH for such a terrible experience. The only thing you’re paying for is movies/shows that are not on other platforms but I would rather rent the movie than have to watch it with a ton of ads and crappy quality.

Can’t beat the quality/price/channels and support. I don’t leave reviews very often, but thought this might come in handy for someone (perhaps fellow apes) that research as much as I do. I could not recommend Philo any higher!! The user interface is seamless across every platform. Whether streaming on my smart TV, laptop, or phone, there are absolutely no hiccups between stopping on one device and resuming at the same point on a new one. In terms of navigation, it’s so simple that even apes love using it. I was nervous about cancelling my cable and only having Philo, but as soon as I made the change, my reservations were gone. Philo is a game changer! It’s been able to help me budget better while not sacrificing what I love, which is TV shows! And crayons.. and tendies. I like the app.

Total crap!. How can you justify putting eight minutes of commercials multiple times throughout one movie? What a joke! They take a two hour movie and make it four hours long with all the commercials like it’s a free app or something. Paying for a monthly subscription you would think the commercials would be limited to two minutes at the most but not Philo seems like every ten minutes or less your gonna have to watch five to eight minutes worth of crappy commercials by that time you’ve already lost interest in what it was you were watching. What a joke this will definatly be the last month of this garbage I pay for! Thanks for ruining tv you money hungry turds!!!

Too expensive for amount of advertising we’re being forced to watch!. I like the variety of shows, however I will not continue subscription once this month runs out. For the amount you pay for this service your advertising is way too long, you do 3 to 5 min of programming to 4 to 5 minutes of ad’s that you can’t fast forward through. I have several streaming services that on average are $10 cheaper then yours and there are no commercials or you can fast forward through them.

Love It. But Huge Flaws. I do enjoy using Philo, it is well made, and easy to use... As well as bolstering a wide arrange of channels (of course not everything you’d really want) but that’s just how services of this category go! I can’t really complain about the problems mentioned above, because those are things you really should research before paying into their service. HOWEVER; I find it absolutely ridiculous that you can not project anything on this app to a TV- or anything else for that matter. Especially since they do not have much coverage past the App Store and Roku... Definitely consider a different service for your TV for now :) Philo is still going in a great direction and I’ll be keeping my eyes open for when they figure things out better.

Was real good… but. My husband introduced to me to this platform as I was looking for a service that I can watch on my IPad. In the beginning the service was awesome. Now I can’t even get the app to open to where I can watch live TV on my iPad. It shows the blue philo word like it’s loading in the background then crashes. such a setback. I would like to watch the service I’m paying monthly for. Outside of this issue, it’s a good platform for anyone looking for live tv service at an affordable price. 👍🏽💯. Hope this gets resolved soon.

Too many issues. Love the channel line up, but this app has too many issues. If you pause something, it loses its spot and restarts, and with ads that makes it that much more extremely frustrating. It will freeze or just shut down. Wish it was better because I really loved the channel line up and it’s the only place I can watch some of my favorites after cutting cable :( Customer service, while they do respond fairly quick, are not very helpful in hearing what you are saying or seem concerned with the issues that are happening. I am very polite and in no way made someone feel like I was just being difficult, so I feel they could have “ heard” me a bit better.

LOVE Philo - the app is awful unfortunately. I absolutely love Philo. I love the channels and the shows they offer, as well as how you record the shows. However, the iPhone app is awful. I am constantly checking for updates as I have issues with it on a daily basis. For example, when I try to skip through a show (one you’re able to forward through), it jumps my spot way far forward. Then when I try to go back, it takes it back way further than I even was and I completely end up losing the spot I was in. It drives me nuts! It happens every day. I also dislike they took the pause feature away when the app is in vertical mode (I do this to type a response to a text or check mail while on commercials) - you can only make the screen bigger or close it out - no pausing. Then there are times when I try to forward through and it just freezes the entire app, then I have to close it down. Lastly, on the iPhone, the icons for the movies and shows you save are so small I can’t read the titles unless title is written in huge letters (it is not normally). So I find myself squinting at the phone when I have perfect vision.

Frustrating interface. The app and the Philo service are generally great. A great value for the money. My issue is with the Continue to Watch category. If you stop watching at the end of a program, which is the most common where you watch shows, the app dumps the program out of your cachet. To watch the next episode, you have to locate the program from your saved shows, figure out which season and episode you were on, and access it from there. If the Continue to Watch category would also store the series you are watching and hold your place between episodes, the user experience would be drastically improved and I would recommend Philo without reservation.

Unfortunate tech issues. I’ve had a Philo account before because I love the content, but had canceled it due to how much the app would lag or have technical issues. It doesn’t have the option to cast the way others do, it only allows you to airplay to your TV. As the show is trying to cast to your TV, the time continues to tick forward on your phone, so by the time it’s up on the TV it’s 1 min past where you actually were. I constantly have to restart the app, and “try again”. I repurchased because the new season of drag race would be on Philo, and unfortunately the problems are still the same as they were a year ago

No iPhone to TV via HDMI support. Philo works great on my iPhone 8+; however, I ‘be found my 70+ year old eyes get tired watching that small screen. So, presently (with AT&T TV NOW service) I connect my iPhone to my TV via Lightening Adaptor and HDMI cable. Unfortunately, Philo doesn’t support this configuration. When connected, the sound plays on the TV, however, the video does not. The only screens in Philo app seen on the TV are the app screens and program control screen (pause-play controls)... but no program streaming video. Phili, Is it a possibility to incorporate the use of using iPhone with Lightening Adaptor & HDMI cable to TV in the future?

Trial Goers Beware. I tried the trial back in January and ended up canceling it almost the same day and deleted the app. Recently was going through my finances and realized I have been being charged since then for 7 months of no use. When I contacted customer service I was told they don’t do refunds and even after pushing to talk to a supervisor, telling them I cancelled the trial and having them review my account which showed no use since January they still refused to give my money back. I guarantee they have this no refund policy in place because I’m not the only one who canceled a trial and still got charged. So, beware with the trial unless you know you want this service.

Definite value in service with some quirks. IMO, there’s value in the service for the price you’re paying. I’ve used various live tv streaming services across various price ranges and I end up paying more for watching less. Philo offers the channels I enjoy, with the exception of a few (namely ABC) so I just stream the news from their app. The app itself can sometimes get a little wonky. Force closing the app, then reloading seems to get things going. Minor inconvenience but I’ll take it. I haven’t had any issues with the service quality, streaming seems to be pretty solid. Shout out to the team behind Philo, you’re creating something great. Navigation is a little confusing (I just signed up like less than a week ago) and some other UI quirks but I feel like improvements are constantly being made based on change logs.

Is it worth it?. Philo is loved in my household. It’s truly enjoyed. But I barely watch it. I have to pay for extra services in order to watch USA, Fox, and Cartoon Network. Plus my sports. By that time I am pretty much paying the same amount for what your competitors charges. Instead of having several subscriptions. I can spend the same for just one subscription. Not going to happen though. I just keep praying that Philo will add some more networks to their lineup. I would spend a bit more on the subscription if those networks were added to the lineup. Plus I would love to see Philo added to the Xfinity Flex box.

A bit disappointed. I have many streaming services I pay for which is less than this one. I just joined today and I’m sad that the shows that they have on here are only certain seasons. Most of the other services show all the seasons and again for less money. I’d think for paying 20 a month would have more so yes I’m a bit disappointed. On a good note I am enjoying some of the shows I haven’t been able to watch in a while and a channel I’ve wanted to watch but don’t get on cable.

Love it!. I have Philo on my tv and I had it on my phone to watch my shows on the go, but for what ever reason I got logged out from my phone. It still works on my tv and I love it because so many of my favorite shows are on there and the price is great! The app on my phone does not give the option to log in. I’m thinking maybe it’s my phone generation, an iPhone 12 mini. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? Either way, I love my Philo!

App error. We love Philo. It has a lot of shows we enjoy watching and is great on the tv. The app, however, is a headache. First, it does not save what i watched. if i have to quickly sent a text or move out to another app and the app minimizes so i can multitask (i.e. watch and do something else at the same time), when i go back to full screen, it resets the app and i have to find what i was watching again and it will start, what i was watch all over again or pick up where i was watching when i started. Example if i continued watching something 30 min into the show and i have now gone another 30min, totaling 1 hour. It will go back to the original 30 min i started with. Then i have to scroll for the next min or so trying to find where i left off. Not quite user friendly. Please fix.

UPDATE to 5 star review…. New review: I’m now giving it 5 stars because they fixed it. I can finally FF through the ads. There are so many ads but as long as I can FF through them then I will keep the service. Thank you! Previous review: My goodness, the ads come FREQUENTLY and you can’t skip/ff through most of them. So frustrating. UPDATE: I am watching a LMN movie on my Philo DVR/Saved and it will ‘not’ let me fast forward this way either. Maybe Philo is unaware of this? Once it gets fixed then I will add more stars.

Much better. Updating back to five stars as the app has mostly always been glitch free and exactly what we were looking for. The customer service is top notch. From the time that I first let them know there was a problem to when a fix rolled out was about a week (it takes a minute to get things through the App Store. I get it). Initial communication with customer service was decent. They answered right away in the chat, but weren’t sure if what they were talking about. The communication with the escalation team was superb. They jumped in asking all of the pertinent questions and paying attention to what I was telling them. They even emailed after the update came out to make sure that I got it and it was working perfectly again. Thanks Philo! (And thanks Sarah, my escalation team expert!)

What Happened to the Checkmark Icon?. I have no complaints about the service or channels of Philo, but I get frustrated when I update the app and lose features I love. For example, I would love it if you could bring back the checkmark icon that showed up after you watched a movie. I relied on this heavily to know if I had already watched a movie but had forgotten to unsave it after I watched it. I’m also frustrated that I can no longer see the date a movie aired on my iPhone. I can see the information when I use my Roku, but I’d like to see it on my Apple devices as well. Know when the show aired helps me figure out when one of my shows is expiring.

Horrible customer service and horrible streaming abilities. Tonight I had reached out to customer service to see about the streaming ability of this platform and what happened next was ridiculously disappointing and frustrating. One tech told me that i needed to accommodate their platform and Rudely gave me a list of things I needed to buy, one being a smart TV that had one of their services they are allowed to stream from, first of all what if I was a single parent on a budget and i could only afford one certain streaming device I would feel horrible being called out like that, then to top it all off I was rudely cut off after being told to go ahead and go elsewhere and when I tried to start up another chat the new person ended the chat right away. Great streaming platform but their customer service is ridiculously rude and judgmental and very unprofessional. I’d absolutely recommend them and give them 4 stars if their customer service was better or they had their team take sensitivity classes and how deal with consumer respectively and professionally classes.

Kinda getting scammed…. I noticed double charges on my bank statements coming from philo. I doubled checked the amount of months since I started and it seems they have been charging my account whenever they want, including multiple times in a row. The Ads are insane. There is usually about 3-4 minutes of programming before 3-4 minutes of ads. 25$ a month is not reasonable, the amount of ads is just insane and doesn’t let you really get into the story or show you are watching. It’s hard to be following an intense moment in a show for a 5 minute break to hear about downies new cleaning solution. Deleting my account, calling my bank, and deleting this horrible app.

Love it but hate it at the same time. This app has some really good shows on here ! My only problem is when I’m watching a show I can’t push the pause button, it’s like it locks and you can’t push anything until you just close the whole app and reopen it again. Sometime when I open the app I can’t even find the show I was just watching and if I do find my show it wont even play where I left off and I have to fast forward it which is also a problem, usually it will play an episode I’ve already watched. Trying to fast forward on a show you can’t even see where you are fast forwarding too unless you remember the episode and time where you left off.

It’s okay. The app is okay, and there are definitely shows I like that are on there. The only problem is it is very buggy. If I ever exit out of the app with the show still playing when I go back into it I am unable to pause/rewind/fast forward etc. i also cannot go back to the main menu unless I close the app out completely and restart it. It’s not a big deal just gets annoying sometimes if I want to continue a show on the part I left off on and cannot even fast forward without restarting the app. Happy with the selection of shows though. The app used to not have these problems so idk what happened recently.

Lovin this app!!!. I’m in the trial stage now and wow. I’m so impressed with the content available in this app. And the price is is really so good too. I can’t believe I get all this at the basic level for only $25 a month. I read others can use my account too with no up charges which is super nice cause my son only occasionally gets a chance to watch tv. Another thing I like a ton is the fast connection when u get on app but how I can flip chs while the speed of keeping is still there. Quality pic too!! Like I said I’m very impressed with this app!!!!!

Add more channels and allow people to watch shows that have previously aired. This app is so good because it has a lot of channels and shows that I love to watch but it’s lacking in some ways. For example you should be able to watch show that have previously aired just in case you missed an episode or want to watch a movie, I don’t know why philo allows a certain amount of channels to let you watch previously aired shows or movies, plus it dosent even tell you when you are allowed to watch it when it airs on live tv. And another concern I had was that there is no Cartoon Network channel on philo. Why? You guys have add ons for starz and epix but why no Cartoon Network or showtime? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. And the last thing I wanted to add is why do some channels not have all the seasons? For example jersey shore only has season 3 and 4, and black ink crew only has season 8 and 9, dosen’t really make sense. But overall I like the app and all the good shows it had but it needs a lot of improvements. I’m not gonna pay $25 a month just for a couple of channels when half of them you cant even watch what previously aired, some of the seasons are not even available and some channels that most people enjoy aren’t even there… i’d rather just stick to sling unless philo changes their game.

Cancelled and still charged. I cancelled this service because it was always timing out. It was awful. Deleted it from my tv the first week. Cancelled it on Apple and apparently didn’t take and I was charged another month. Biggest rip off ever because it was charged after I cancelled it. Avoid this service! Thanks Philo for the response. I deleted the service from my tv. I went through all the processes to fix it. As well, I did contact Apple but it is in fact you that has to make it right because they won’t reverse charges from you - but you know that already so let’s just be honest about that. You get to keep a charge you did not earn. Responding to Philo stating Apple has to make the decision: Yes you are correct Apple makes the decision - but they have an agreement with you to not refund - they won’t even consider it. Because they have always been reasonable with their response to problems with a service. This one they didn’t even go look to see all the complains of timing out. So just stop. Again worst streaming service I have tried.

Love it. Updating my review from a few weeks ago from 4 stars to 5. I use this on several platforms and with one or two quick clicks, you can skip the entire commercial break on anything you record. Amazing. IDK why so many negative reviews about ads. It’s a live TV service, of course there are ads. That’s why I record everything so I can zip through all the commercials. The only problem I had recently was I couldn’t remove anything from continue watching on my phone app, but that has now been fixed. Customer service is good too. 👍🏼👍🏼

App keeps restarting. Ok now this is getting out of hand. I’ve had philo for years now and this is the first time it’s been this bad. On the iPhone 8, this app keeps restarting itself. By the way my iOS software is up to date. I see a few updates have been released recently for this app, however, the problem still remains. From reading the other reviews I see that this is an issue with others too so why can’t philo fix this common problem? Also, I do not feel like contacting support for this as you already know this is a known issue so forward this msg along to the developers or whomever and fix it.

Love philo. I picked Philo after taking a good look at what I actually watched on cable. I discovered that there were only a few channels that I actually watched. I was totally wasting my money plus cable was always raising my costs every month. It was a little stressful cutting out cable. I researched the ruku idea and found subscriptions that I could add that had a channel for every program we watched. The only one was Philo. I’m adjusting to missing my favorite news channels but Philo is great. I could not be happier with the hundreds of dollars it saves me. And I mean hundreds. I’m sorry that I’ve wasted so much money all of these years. Thank you Ruko and Philo.

Bad app. I signed up with Philo for another option to watch some shows. Let me tell you their app and their website is TERRIBLE. HIGHLY considering canceling. Every notification swipe it takes you to the main page, to adjust the brightness it takes you back to the main page. The main page doesn’t even load. You search for a show and it takes about 2 minutes for anything to come up. Then when you select a show, it never loads the first time so when you exit it takes you back to the main page which never loads then to the search again, another 2 minutes then maybe you can just watch your show. Then if you have watched an episode one time but it’s played again you have to watch ALL commercials again. It is a pointless game with this service and the app. Do not download or subscribe! Customer service is terrible and never gets back to you, nor do they even care to try.

Constantly freezes. I love the accessibility to my favorite shows, but I am constantly reinstalling this app hoping to solve the constant issues I have with the streaming service. It went from crashing every episode, to now glitching on ads and replaying 2 second portions of the ads over and over even when I restart the app. It’s bad enough there are ridiculously excessive ads every 2 minutes despite paying for a subscription, but now I can’t even make it through a single episode without it glitching and getting stuck replaying ads at least several times. Really disappointing. I hope these issues finally get actually addressed or I will be discontinuing my service.

Good app!. Overall I like the app and service. Two things I hope improve in the future. 1. When going through the guide it would be good if the channel you are/were currently watching plays in the background while searching for something else to watch. 2. There needs to be a refresh button on the guide section. Sometimes when I open the app (Apple TV) it goes straight to the guide as that was the last place I was when closing the app out. Upon returning the next day, it goes to the guide section but shows what was going to be coming on for the time frame it was when I left instead of updating to what’s currently coming on now.

Lagging, Glitches and loads slooooow on Apple TV. I’ve had a subscription for an entire year. I only check in to watch a few times a month, the guide isn’t as good as everyone else, but looking to use is full-time this new year. However, it never loads quick on Apple TV. I don’t have this problem with any other app including other streaming services I subscribe to and use in Apple TV. This is a major issue you need to resolve ASAP. In addition, while watching a simple show, that’s live on say Discovery, it stops / pauses and the. plays back the last three seconds to catch up. Happening last night dozens of times over a few episodes. Also happened last weekend when I tried to use it. Please get the simple issues resolved! Can’t see paying for the service any longer until this is resolved.

Freezes Constantly. On Apple TV it freezes after ma e watching for a hour. You have to cancel the app and restart it. This has been going on for over year. I have filled out surveys from Philo to let them know. Their responses we are working on a update to fix it. That was over a year ago. I use Philo do to the discount from T Mobile. Once that discount ends, if Philo has not fixed the Apple TV app I am canceling. I recommend DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE FOR PHILO!! Until they fix the app. If you do not believe what I am telling you check the Philo Reddit. Plenty of the same complaints, with the same answer, “we will fix in a upcoming update”. And before I get a response with, “what channel does this?”.IT’S ALL OF THEM!!

Ads and skip to live make this service annoying. Alot of people have mentioned the same thing over and over again, yet changes do not seem apparent even after “improving advertisements”. The content is great, the ads are just out of control. Even when you go to another channel and come back to the one you were watching the ads are still there. You can try to go live but the ads are still there! It seems you are forced to watch the ads no matter what. I won’t even comment about the lenght of the ads sessions, plenty people have mentioned the same thing. I will be looking elsewhere for service thats $20-30 more a month. At least I won’t be frustrated, neither should you.

Roku and iPhone app work ok, but Apple TV app needs work. Almost cancelled service before starting when I was using the Apple TV app first. When scrolling through shows it forgets scroll position all the time, so when I go into one to look at it or pick to save and go back it reloads the entire list and positions me back at the top. I try to avoid this by going in show then scrolling side to side, but that is very slow along with not having a selection focus initially making me have to scroll down then back up to be able to click Save. About half the time when I scroll down and back up, the up is super sensitive and swipes me all the way back to the guide losing everything about where I was. While navigating shows to add it was crashing about every 5min too taking me back to the Apple TV Home Screen. I ended up switching over to Roku and iPhone to finish. I had no issues on either, but iPhone was much faster since the direction pad navigation on Roku is slow and clunky.

Can't Cast to Tv..Ads ads ads 🥹. I've used almost every streaming app sling was my favorite but got too expensive philo came in second works pretty good and has decent features but the ads are starting to pile up and the biggest issue the most frustrating thing is I can't cast to my chrome cast from iPad or iPhone. Not being able to cast to my tv makes me use the app less and now its getting to the point where I get a payment notification and realize I haven't use the app😑😑 I can cast to my tv from my laptop via chrome browser but...ugh! Please add the option to cast to chrome cast please! I need to cast !

Is there an Ad-Free Philo option?. So far, I’ve been enjoying Philo, I’m at day 5 of the 7 day trial. I’ve been able to watch many of the shows that I enjoy and some that I’m unable to get by using any other Apps. Using other Apps, I’ve been able to find 70%+ of what I like to watch. Philo seems to be a good alternative, however because I’ve been using only ad-free Apps for the past couple years, Philo seems to have way to many ads. I don’t see an Ad-Free option? If there is an Ad-Free option and it’s a reasonable price, I would purchase the upgrade in a heartbeat. I’m not sure if that is an option, if not, I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to wait through the ads. These ads are between 2-6 minutes long, I don’t want to spend my leisure time watching promotional ads for things I don’t need, nor care about. If there is an inexpensive upgrade (remembering that the cost is already high for Philo) I would either upgrade to that or stop the service. I just don’t want to spend the limited time that I have on weekends, watching promotional ads for unneeded products or services.

The worst. I’ve only been on the app for two episodes of the show I’m watching and I am most definitely canceling. I cannot watch all the seasons of the show, only the last season. The ads are so long, it will literally show the intro to the show. Then the ads. Then back to the intro and more ads. I haven’t even watched other shows and I am not interested in doing so. Definitely canceling, also I see from the reviews that this app is still charging people even after canceling and not refunding the money. Shady business I should have read them before signing up.

Philo has changed. Monitor your charges after a cancellation.. I have documented evidence of my cancellation and my Philo account email and phone number. It’s possible that Roku Pay is to blame but Philo kept charging my account for 3 months after my cancellation. I tried to ask for documentation that would corroborate their response of the additional charges and they could not provide. This in an internal control fail and very bad business. They claimed Roku Pay was the reason my account was getting charged after my cancellation, which is very probable. Customer service did issue a one month refund, which I appreciated.

Expensive, ads, and less than seamless quality.. Philo costs $20 per month and you will still have to watch ads. They serve 20 minutes of ads for an hour long show, so you’re watching 1 minute of ads for every 3 minutes of regular programming. Isn’t this supposed to be different from cable? My viewing history is often not saved at the correct point, so I’ll have to sift through to figure out what I’ve already watched and often have to watch a set of ads, again, in order to do so. I do not recommend Philo. I won’t be repurchasing.

Love hate relationship. I have been a customer for a few months now and love everything about it until two days ago…while watching on my Apple TV the app keeps force closing while watching, I have went to see if I needed to update the app on the device and it says it’s fine, I love this app but this is making me really mad. it’s ok. the app is a good app but it seems like every hour i’m getting a notification on the screen stopping my movie/show saying i’m not connected to the internet when I am! and then it comes right back like nothing happened. THEN I could be watching a show and boom I end up going from an Episode of Season 1 and it takes me alllll the way to Ep 8 of Season 2 next like how??? so I get all scrambled up trying to get back to the specific episode I was on😒😒😒😒 my CURRENT problem as I type this.

Was great until update!. I love this app until an alert comes through. After you tap the notification the app restarts with login information. This is so distracting. Before you could minimize the screen and the show kept playing. Please fix its been happening for over a month.

A Hot Funky Mess. I was excited to get the app because it literally has just about all the cable channels I enjoy with exception of Bravo. Upon using the app I found that the ads are beyond ridiculous in that not only are they numerous but you literally watch the exact same commercial 3+ times in a row. In addition to that I literally have the most issues trying to watch on this app and I’m unsure why; it doesn’t matter if I use my Wi-Fi or not it’s often the same and I know it’s not the Wi-Fi because we often use it for the tvs and devices. I’m usually not watching live so I know that’s not it.

Constantly closing. Philo itself I love. However when streaming on my iPhone 12 the last month or so it is constantly closing out multiple times while watching a show. Sometimes it will pick back up where it closed out sometimes it goes back to the beginning like I was never watching it. That is very frustrating.

Terrible customer service!!!!. I’m hearing impaired and use my phone which is connected to my hearing aids. I purchased the service, and due to buffering could not get the service to work. I tried all available troubleshooting options, to no avail and contacted customer service the next day. I canceled the service and tried to get a refund. I was told by customer service representative Jamai that I was denied a refund because “I could use a different device!!!”, even after explaining that I was hearing impaired. I was told since the account had “activity”, aka the buffering, that I will not be issued a refund. BEWARE OF TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MAJOR BUFFERING

NOT impressed with the latest version. It seems since the update, I’m not able to do ANYTHING while the app is open without it resetting the app. If I receive a notification and swipe down to respond to it and then swipe back up, it stops whatever movie I may be playing. If I am looking for some thing and toggle over to another app for comparison and then come back, I have to re-find the place I was at before. Super frustrating, as I have always enjoyed this app and use it frequently.

Disappointed. It doesn’t work on all streaming devices unless…. You download this and that app, create other accounts, and just downright too much just to be able to connect to your tv. Especially when there’s plenty of other apps that you can download and connect straight to your device with no problem. If you’re using a google chrome cast unless you plan to create a google account, have a smart tv or buying another streaming device (Roku or fire stick) you might as well skip pass. One star because it look so interesting and looks like it had everything. So sad 😞

4 Stars for Good Content But…. They need to catch up with basically ALL other TV/Streaming apps and allow the option to cast from phone to TV (in my case via AirPlay). For whatever reason, screen mirroring doesn’t work properly in the app. I can hear, but cannot see the picture. (I tested this in 2 other apps, and screen mirroring worked just fine). I enjoy the app overall, but this is a major downside for me.

Would be perfect if…. I got the app and subscription just so I could watch G4, but the other channels are a not bonus, it’s very reasonably priced for live TV, but the app cannot stream to chrome cast, or any form of screen mirroring, which kind of makes the mobile app useless compared to just using a chrome browser. I prefer to watch this stuff on a screen bigger than my phone most of the time.

Too many commercials.. Edit: my apologies, the commercials come from the network side I did not realize that. In hindsight That makes perfect sense, of course. Thank you for your response! I’ve had this for one month, but I’m going to cancel it soon. Trying to watch a home improvement show just to name one example, and half of its been nothing but advertisements and mini infomercials. Not worth it.

No customer service number. Philo was a great app. However lately it’s been horrible constantly crashing you have to delete the app and reinstall it. And as of lately reinstalling doesn’t even work. To make matters worse absolutely no way to contact customer service. Will be canceling my account for good definitely won’t recommend and definitely would tell as many people as I can not to bother with this service. No one wants to pay 25 a month for this mess!! Also notice the developers only responds to positive reviews which I’m sure are old . DONT DOWNLOAD THIS APP FIND BETTER!!

Much better than when it was new BUT…. I tried Philo when it first came out and quickly switched back to ATT TV Now. I came back to try it out again becasue I really like the channel line up with the price. After several months of use, it was the right choice for me. BUT you recently updated and while the larger view in the guide is great, the app constantly crashes after about an hour of watching. It’s really awful. Please get this fixed!

No Samsung TV support. I know I know, it’s a budget tv service and they don’t have the resources to make an app for every type of device. But Samsung is not some hole in the wall company, it’s one of the main ones! It’s inconvenient to jump through loopholes just to watch tv (cast to apple app to open the philo app within the apple app 🙄). Orrrr I can just get Sling TV and forget that hassle. Bingo. I think I’ll try that. I don’t mind the commercials or not having the nuggets selection in the world. But no support for one of the main TVs in the world? Hello?????

Home Screen Won’t Load. I’ve been using this app for several years now and never had an issue until a few updates ago. The home screen disappears, acts like it’s reloading, but never does. If I pause a show and minimize the app, or anything pops up on my screen, the Philo app restarts and goes back to the home screen reloading. I’ve waited to see if this issue was resolved with an update but several updates have been released and it’s not fixed. This doesn’t happen on the tv, only the app for the phone but that’s primarily how we use this. Really starting to question if it’s worth what we’re paying.

Updated review:. Entering the phone number and the codes lead to nowhere as the one is only left with restoring the app (which gives a message that there’s no subscription) or buying a whole new subscription. Contacted support numerous times, but couldn’t fix the problem. Update: support reached out and was able to fix the issue. Thank you!

Idk. I mean, I like it and I fast forward thru the adds BUT why do I have to wait days to watch a show that’s been streaming???! Like, it’ll allow me to watch a few episodes of season 2 but won’t let me watch season 1 bc apparently it didn’t air yet which is weird. I got this to watch sistas but now, idk. I never heard anyone say this before but I think that philo is streamings Best kept secret because it’s a greatStreaming Service it has A lot of the channels that I like all the different types. But you don’t see it everywhere and you don’t hear about it everywhere. But maybe that’s good because if it was everywhere it would not have the channels I like they would have the same type of stuff that is on the other streaming services

Philo is really selective Television at its best !. I really enjoy philo, you can pick a channel and you can watch every season of a particular show you like on demand. I have five or six channels that I particularly like to watch and there’s more information there then I’ll be able to watch in a lifetime, something always there to pick my interest. The pricing structure can’t be beat for what I want! Thanks philo 👍

Needs to be better. I only have this app however my feelings are changing. Every time I click to watch a move it’s unplayable like it’s unavailable yet it appears on the app. I just don’t get it. Why is it this way? You wanna watch a series sometimes the whole series isn’t available. Things like this for 25 a month isn’t okay. If I can see it or even pull it up on the app it should be available to view. I have so many saved movies and shows that I would love to watch after I’m paying for it. Gotta do better with this matter. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

Lots of issues. I have a lot of issues with Philo on my phone and on my tv. On my phone it’ll have a show playing then randomly it will just close the app and I’d have to restart it. Also on my phone the app just won’t open at all a lot of the time. On my tv when I open the program it will just freeze and won’t let me press anything. I have to constantly uninstall and re-download the app. It’s just very annoying. The shows on Philo are great and that’s the only reason I just deal with it.

Great value, great selection of shows. Philo is a great Live TV service for only $20! I have been shopping around for a good service that is not too expensive and Philo is exactly that. I could not find anything less than $40 a month — and some were greater than $65 a month. I hope the price doesn’t increase (like most services) , but so far I am loving Philo!

Blind, use, screen, reader, easy, no glitches. I use it on my phone & Maia to Shiva fire TV. Really easy to use and play what I want when I want. I use a screen reader because I cannot see. So I actually listen to what I like. I've tried this on my phone and my Fire TV from Toshiba. Work seamlessly streaming through my Wi-Fi. That's it bottom line Philo works.

I TELL EVERYONE ABOUT PHILO!!. When I tell people what I pay a month for my cable -internet tv service and all the cable channels I receive they are in disbelief. I’ve actually had to go to my Philo App and open it to show them it’s true. I’m truly thankful for the Philo App and the affordable price. I would be limited to Antenna TV Service without Philo. Needs to improve streaming strength!. I am paying for this app and it almost Never works!! It takes me several hours to get through my shows because they’re constantly buffering. I have to close the app, then re-open the app! And let’s not talk about casting to my tv from my device! I am using the strongest Wi-Fi and I don’t have this problem with ANY other streaming app! Most of my shows are on this platform but I won’t continue to pay for this if it isn’t fixed!

Won’t recognize apple subscription.. Signed up with the T-Mobile Tuesday $10 off each month for a year discount. Got the subscription email from apple and the subscription was showing up under my Apple ID. However, the app kept asking me to purchase a subscription and clicking restore purchases did not nothing. Checked the Philo website and it didn’t have the subscription on there. Tried using chat help but every time I got out of the queue it said it timed out and put me back In queue. Just not worth my effort trying to fix their mess when they won’t even let me talk to them so I cancelled my subscription and will be striking Philo from my list.

Can’t switch between apps. This app is programmed like garbage. If someone texts you and you have to switch between apps it will reset your counter and take you to the last minute marker you watched. So if you watched a show and stopped at 23:00 but missed a scene, you rewind to let’s say 11:45 and start watching again. You then get a text, or want to check an email, the app will take you to the 23:00 mark every time. Even if you never got to rewatch the scene you wanted. Do this 30 times and 30 times it takes you to the wrong spot And yes, I did contact support and you know what I got in return? An email saying we got yours then asking me to rate your customer services. Well what customer service? Saying we got your email is no resolution not helpful. Actually fixing the issue would be helpful so I gave that email 1 star also for wasting my time. Don’t ask me to rate your response if you haven’t actually worked on the issue.

Nice if you like lots of commercials. Update 2022: watched the latest season of Battlebots on Philo then on Discovery+. Discovery+ averaged 6-10 minutes of commercials per full episode, Philo had 40-55 minutes of commercials per episode. I like Philo as an alternative to cableTV, and it’s great that it has all the channels I like without needing to buy a premium cable package. The app is great, always reliable. Unfortunately the shows can be plagued by 5-8 minutes of commercials, sometimes it’s more time for commercials than the shows themselves. Discovery+ has 70% less commercials than cable or Philo, a lot less time and frequency.

Great shows - terrible app. I use many different streaming services and this is by far the least user friendly. Why is there no 10-second forward/backward option while watching on an iPhone? Also when watching in vertical mode to answer a text, you can’t pause a show. So you have to go back to full screen to pause. I’m surprised they don’t have these features when they’re now the streaming service for several big shows. Hoping they update the app soon.

New App Update. I always enjoyed watching Philo until the latest update. The app either turns off or it kicks me out of the movie I’m watching, the sound and mouth movements are not in sync and haven’t been for a long time, I can only see (3) of my saved movies on my screen and the rest are not showing at all. I can’t see the time or how much battery life I have left because of the black background. There is also a time delay when you press the pause button and the back button. I am now unhappy and disappointed. I hope this will be fixed.

Refreshes constantly. A new development with the app is that everytime you go into a show/movie (see the details, or record), when you exit the app kicks you out to the beginning. It’s is especially annoying if you’re scrolling to a specific day to record a bunch of things in a row. The same issue occurs when you search. You don’t stay inside the search after you select something- it kicks you back out to the home page.

Beware….Sneaky. Love the app and the available shows but I was just looking at my subscriptions and did not realize I was being charged $20 a month! I watch about 5hrs of tv a month! When I signed up I agreed to $5/month and do not recall any information (or was able to go back and find anything) about it increasing. Pretty disgusted but I guess I should have paid more attention to my subscriptions. Responding to the reply from the developer. I would have never gotten the app if it was $25. I will be going back through my statements to find the original charges.

Iphone app wont open. Freezing on Roku constantly. Add to that I click on get support and it takes me to a page where literally none of the options take me anywhere. They need to get it together, every single aspect is frozen and not working. I’ll open the app on roku and it just sits there, no buttons will activate anything at all, just purely frozen. I’ve had this happen several times. Keep having the aggravation and wasted time of being forced to remove the app from roku and then downloading it again to reset it which is ridiculous. No clue what’s going to get it working on my iphone again because the app simply won’t load.

Great show options but….. This app has great show options but for $25 a month it should not have ads. I pay half that price for premium subscriptions to other show apps and that includes no ads. If they expect me to pay $25 a month but has ads every 5 minutes of the show they’re completely ripping you off. They’re not quick 30 second ads either they range from 3-4 minutes. Not cool.

It’s alright. I’ve had no problems yet. It’s a pretty good streaming service but I wish for the older shows they have on there they wouldn’t be missing episodes or missing seasons, and I’m not going to lie there are a lot of ads but honestly I don’t mind the ads as much as everyone else but there are a few glitches I think they should look into and fix

Left chat and. As much as liked and recommended the services it disappoints me to say that their customer service and support was terrible. I was charged for almost a year after canceling and deactivating my account (email proof). I used the chat function and the agent left the chat after I had questions on how I was managed to be charged like that. And called in and was told that it must’ve been someone in my family with access to my old phone number- which was no longer in use at the time and no one in my family had access to.

Sad. This was our favorite app up until a week ago. After the last up date our app freeze or kicks us out in the middle of a show or movie. If I leave the app at 3pm and come back at 8pm it stays at 3pm and we can see or watch anything in the guide. Sadly we may need to cancel because we can’t really watch anything without some kind of problem. We have talked to someone for this app they are saying they are working on problems with Apple TV. That’s great but it doesn’t help us seeing we are paying for the app and getting kicked out when trying to watch a movie.

Difficulties. I like Philo because there are many different channels. When I first downloaded it on the iPhone there was no problems. But the past three months it will not load. I am constantly paying for something I can not use. And it’s difficult to report an issue. When loading the app it’s just bring you to the Philo screen with 4 dots loading but never loads. When you select report a problem , it’s take you to the Apple screen and your not able to submit anything.

Too many commercials!!!!. When I started subscribing in 2017 it was great. Over the years it became increasingly worse with lots of commercials. When you first open the app it make you watch 5 minutes worth of commercials. Then for every 6 minutes of content you have to watch another 2 minutes of commercials. Change the channel and you start over with 5 more minutes of commercials. Who has time to waste watching commercials?? Finally dropped the service 2023. Corporate greed ruined this service.

Ehhh this app is just ok i subscribed this month and been having so many issues all it does is buffer I have my Apple TV on with the enthernet cable connected and it still buffers same with my iPhone it buffers and then when I’m done with a show I go back to find another and some the channel are missing it don’t show what is on I have to close the app and open it for it to show the full guide needs more work I’m glad I got it only a month too many issues wish I can get my money back for that month waste of money

paid $25 for poor nav + hella ads. You cant simply select the time you want to skip to, you have to slide left/right and swipeswipeswipe until you get to the time you need. Every time your device screen shuts off it resets your time to the start of the episode. In addition, just tried to get to a certain point in my episode but couldn’t remember where I was, had to watch 3 separate ad breaks from skipping around in the ep and watching 2seconds per clip (I PAY $25/MO). don’t buy this sht get your free trial and run.

Has started cutting off. When you get to the last 10 to 16 minutes of a show, it will cut to the main app. You will then have to go back into the app and select the show again. The feature to go to the live area NEVER works and then you finally move it to the end, it will play about two minutes and cut out again. By the time this is done the next show is play and you have missed the ending of the show.

Profile settings. You now set it up where a second profile can add their number and email, but when you click add number or email, it pops up and immediately vanishes. Go on the website to edit them. It comes up but it can’t even be edited. Says number/email already in use when it clearly isn’t. Customer service is useless, because they don’t seem to understand how the interface works. Philo makes it impossible to change information in settings once they’ve been set on the user’s end. Unacceptable.

It’s okay. It works but cuts out a lot and on my iPhone there is no sound. I’m updating to four starts from three and although I got the sound to work on my phone it still cuts out all the time and says no Internet I have the fastest Internet available and an excellent connection on all of my firesticks so I do not get that if that would stop I’d upgrade to 5 stars it’s a good deal for decent lineup I’m only missing a few channels that you get on another service

Nice app for a well balanced service. The app works really well. It’s snappy, video quality is good and seems well rounded. As for the service itself, the channels selection as really good at this price level. In my case I have Philo for the cord-cutter needs and then some of the other on-demand streaming behemoths to complete the deal. I believe the end result is way better and much cheaper than what I was paying for basic cable. Keep up the good work.

We cut the cable and satellite 2 years ago November, we needed a service provider for Halmark, HGTV, TLC, Uptv and many more non sports related, so we tried Philo, $20 per month, and added tv antenna for local stations, great service and we can watch it in Hotel rooms while out of town. Love the save feature and we don’t miss a program we really love. Great for the whole family. Thank you Philo for affordable television service.
