App doesn’t reflect true charging. I’ve played with this app for a week now on different chargers. On wireless I’ve repositioned the phone in relation to the pad and have monitored the application. The app just doesn’t work. Readings will sometimes fluctuate greatly even when the phone is stationary and hasn’t been moved. I cannot recommend. Save your money.

Good app. the app is good cause it allows me to see some info about my battery charge and it's really useful when u wonder why your battery charge is going down so fast. By the way you can test your battery so then you'll get exact results

Great app but old interface was better. Have been using for a year or so. App works great and does what it says. However the interface has changed so much with different icons and compressed its very hard to click on the right button. For example, now the test results only show you the results vs in the past you could see the info that went along with it all in one line. It’s a mess. Please consider bringing back the old interface.

Prefer previous layouts. Great app and use it for testing and reports. BUT ... the new layouts are terrible. I could see everything on one layout but now I have to pick an icon to view the data in a font that is 10 times too big. Bring back the more functional layout...

No longer works. I used to love this app, but it unfortunately doesn’t work anymore. The tests no longer finish. Even after running a test for 30 min and my phone charging about 40%, the app still says the test is “running”. This app is useless if it never completes and doesn’t give you any results.

Great App!!. Thank You Andrew, this app is perfect for my needs. I have the new iPhone Xs Max with fast charge capability. I purchased several adapters, (usb-c & usb-a) & wireless in both formats. I’m testing various cables by different manufacturers. With your app I am able to test all combinations so I can use the accessories with the best results! Also the ability to label the tests helps me keep my results organized! Great app! Keep up the good work!

I give up. I have tried multiple apps which promise to measure charge rates. But none can it seems isn’t he iOS11 world. This am simply guesstimates rate by timing a 2% charge... Not the developer’s fault, but I am done wasting money chasing a unicorn. Thanks Apple! I guess they don’t want people knowing how crummy a charger they ship with the iPad pro’s...

Awesome!. I love being able to test my chargers and see how much power my device is pulling in. The developer responded very quickly to me as well

Good job. Does exactly what I wanted. Checks the charging speed of my devices to compare and know which cables and plugs are best. (Anker of course) Got a free app but it didn’t work. So paid the 2 bucks and worked right away with some other cool extras.

Warnings are too late. The first thing I saw after I bought this app: “Due to some limitations in current versions of iOS, it's impossible to obtain charging results directly from the system. Therefore, Amperes uses the only available but slow method.” Isn’t this something I should have been told before I bought the app, not after?

Great app BUT!!. Great app honestly, but the test configuration is bad, i mean i cant edit what i wrote after the test is done and what does the score mean exactly, because when you export, the score shows in the mA category, so lets say score turns out 1650, means its 1650 mA ? I really like this app hope they fix this issue and make the interface a bit better UPDATE* Developer fixed a bunch of issues and gave us a chance to edit the results

Works as advertised. On the test page there should be a statement that charging is a slowwwww process and and that it could take as much as 15 minutes to get a result

Not as described.. The app description should be updated to reflect that it no longer measures charger and cable performance as advertised. The app developers tell you this AFTER you’ve paid, not before, and that’s bad business.

Great app. This app let me find the best (and worst) wireless chargers, and showed the levels at which the phone charges the fastest (below 70%) and the slowest (mid to high 90s).

Great support from developer. Edit: all issues were addressed. ———— Please add a conformation step before clearing results data. Very easy to accidentally delete all one's measurements otherwise. Also being able to edit the test configuration info after a test is run would be very helpful. Also where test results are displayed (at least on an iPhone X) the fields with the Name and Charge get cut off with no way to later see what was typed originally. Finally, there should be a note to users that the charging rate, or score, varies greatly with how full the battery is. Perhaps recommending all tests be done under 50% would be better than the 90% required now.

Great App. This application let me test 3 chargers and see the significance of the charging difference between the 3 I am impressed!!!!

Thanks. I got this app to check which of my cables and charges are faster and batter. The info provided was accurate

Useful, but lacking. I bought this because I thought the tests would show the charging wattage just like the free version of Ampere does. However it only shows the result in mA. Which is disappointing because I'm using it to evaluate two wireless chargers that were sold based one their wattage output.. I don't know why the free version would have that and not the paid. Additionally, the "export results" button doesn't work at all on my iPhone XS.

Used to work great. I use this app frequently. Since iOS 17 update this app will no longer test wireless charging or MagSafe charging. The percent climbs slower but the app doesn’t register or calculate the charging wattage. Very disappointing. I don’t want to have to pay for another app because this one is t working properly.

Ok. Considering Apple does not allow access to the charging data in IOS this is the best a developer can do at this time.

Great Solution, Missing Some Features. I’ve been using Amperes for nearly 2 years and can confidently say it’s the best solution for testing & comparing chargers I’ve come across! My only “complaint“ is there’s currently no option to save charger/wire names and therefore have to be re-entered on subsequent tests after quitting the app. It’s not the end of the world but certainly makes testing the same equipment more cumbersome.

All good but. It would be nice to be able to take a picture of the cable and save it in the test info so it would be easier to remember what cable is best

Nice app. I got a new iPhone 15, and am using this app to establish baseline measurements with a battery at 100% life. I ride a motorcycle, with a phone mount between the handlebars. Years ago I added a cheap qi wireless charge pad to it for my iPhone 11. When the iPhone was new the wireless charger was able to stay ahead of the power demands of the GPS antenna, running Apple Maps and/or SENIC navigation, as well as the Bluetooth link to my helmet. This past year with the iPhone battery aged to 70% capacity I noticed the qi charge pad could no longer keep up, and the iPhone slowly discharged as I traveled down the road. I got this app to let me test and diagnose the devices, but that large pothole in the road dislodged my iPhone from its mount in heavy traffic. I got a new iPhone now – and a case with a tether, to go with the new built in wireless fast charger phone mount. This app is giving me good information to compare with several years from now when this iPhone ages. My initial impression: The screen is static, giving no indication of it’s even working – until it puts up a banner saying the test has concluded. Perhaps the screen could have elapsed time ticking off the seconds, and a line of 5 lights could progressively turn green as the percentage of charge rises. That would keep the impatient user from aborting the test early out of frustration. Aside from that, I like it. It’s a keeper!

Handy app for the guided. It really helps me to get out of many problems! None of services provides me with the information as much as it does. Thanks to that app, I can measure the battery life duration and see whether it goes wrong and needs to get changed (a widespread IPhone problem).

Too bad this can’t run completely in the background. I wish this could run in the background while you were still using the phone instead of having to leave the app open. It would be nice to be able to surf the Internet, text when needed, and check email etc. etc. Now anytime I get a phone call it resets the test. Kind of defeats the purpose...

Takes 10 minutes to measure the actual charging speed. I wanted to use this app to figure out the quality of the different USB-C cables that I have. But it takes between 5 and 10 minutes EACH time to measure the charging wattage of a cable. Sorry, but that is just useless for comapring mutliple cables. I got myself a USB Meter for $16 and it does the job immediately and accurately.

Test Time. More of a question than a review...how long do the tests usually last? Mine seeming never end until I have to move photons to use it and the test days it’s been disrupted.

Gimmick. This doesn’t actually really measure anything. It just times how long your phone battery takes to go up 1% then guesses how much power that took. It varies wildly with how much other stuff your phone was doing even how strong your cell signal was effects the results. On top of that it takes a long time too. Ok for a free app maybe but for a paid app it should do way better.

A piece of garbage!!!. The app just sits there in a loop just testing and testing and testing it takes forever and then doesn't do anything. There's no progress indicator and no way of knowing how long it's going to take or if anything is actually happening at all which it turns out nothing is. A worthless garbage app that's not worth the bits of storage that it takes up. This app is literally does nothing but show you an animated battery.

Amps????. It’s called amperes, I expected to be able to see the actual amps that were coming into the iPhone. I could measure the time it takes to charge to a certain percent myself. Please add an incoming amperage readout. And voltage please! I will move it up to five stars otherwise you can get this same stuff for free.

Works well & useful. Great service from the developers who got in touch to fix a problem I experienced. Thank you!

It has potential!. The only app that I could find that works.

Takes forever apparently!. Followed the instructions and it just would stay on testing. Never gave result. I quit the test after 10 minutes with no results. App developer told me it takes as much as 10 minutes sometimes depending on the speed on my charger ..etc.

Charging test results in total nonsense.. I tried it on the same charger 3 times in a row, was told vastly different currents each time. The results are clearly wrong/meaningless. Guaging the current pulled from different adapters was the one job I got it for, and it can't even handle it. I ended up just using my multimeter with needles attached. Also the user interface is a total train wreck.

Not accurate at all!. If you compare the results to a Volt/Watt meter that plugs in between the charger and the phone you get actual results. The app is not reliable. It would show that I get 25.9 Watts from a 20 Watt charger?! Where as the physical meter tool reads an appropriate ~18/19 Watts... waste of money

Nice tool!. Turned on to be very useful app for me. I have several old smartphones, and what I did with the help of this app - I rechecked the health and charging capability of each battery to know which one is worth it's recovery.

Very gratifying app. It’s very interesting to see the different rates at which the phone charges under different conditions. I love that I can name and describe each test for my records.

Looking for a true MA meter app. App knows the size of the battery. Calculates the time it take the phone to charge 1% then it provides the score. Not a true amp meter

Something is wrong. The app doesn’t work anymore on my iPhone 15 or ios 17. Testing time is taking very long time and the end result shows very low wattage (1 watt) which is not right. Please fix. I paid for this app not too long ago. Didn’t get much use yet.

Great Tool!. What an outstanding app. I have multiple cables and charging devices and this let me determine which configurations were best and just as importantly, which were worst at charging my iPad Pro. Since I travel a lot I was pleasantly surprised to determine a thin cable charged just as quickly as a thick, bulky cable. On the other hand, I was disappointed to find out my Qualcomm 3.0 Quick Charger didn’t charge as fast as my NewerTech NuPower 60W adapter (fortunately the NuPower has 2 outputs so I can charge both my MacBook and iPad at the same time)

Don’t waste your money. Tested against ruideng usb tester. App says charging rate of 7.5 watts, while actually drawing 12watts. This app doesn’t take into account battery conditions and other factors. Very generic. There’s nothing out there that will give you precise charging information other than a real USB in-line tester.

Very useful!. Easy to use and provides a lot of useful information. I used it to test some new Lightning charging cables and found they were not as fast as claimed.

The Best battery charging info app. At least this is the best battery charging info app that I have found. The programmer of this application constantly updates his product, and each version is greatly improved over the last version. If you wish to see what combination of charge and lightning connector works best, I believe this app is the one you are looking for. It was worth the $2.00 I spent quite a while ago, and the app is much improved.

Very useful.. My iPad is too old so I haven't the monitoring function of the battery. This app helps me to evaluate the condition and see which apps "eating" the charge.

Great app!. I’ve been looking for this kind of app for a long time but this one is the best. I need to watch a lot of my charging devices, so this is really helpful app. And it’s easy to use

5+. A very useful app. Recommended to those who want to know more about their battery

Solid app for the price. It does have a handful options for the user to configure for their own needs. I don’t think it’s super accurate but seems to be able to give you a reasonable idea. I have one confusion though: what is the difference between “Amperes” and “Amperes 3”? I purchased two apps already but it seems the new one does the same thing as this one but I cannot find any upgrade options…

Battery capacity Don’t work. The hole reason I bought the app was to be alerted when my battery is at a certain charge amount. However it does not alert me at the set charge number.

Doesn’t work with MagSafe battery pack. I wanted to see how some stats on my MagSafe battery pack, but the app couldn’t detect that my phone was being charged. I tried changing the test configs to indicate it’s a wireless charger, but it still didn’t work. But does a good job with wired chargers. Overall good product, but wish it would work with wireless chargers too. Still, good stuff Andrew, keep up the good work.

Use your watch to time how long it takes to increase charge by 1% and you have all the app does. Complete waste of $$ this app does absolutely NOTHING but time how long it takes your battery to increase 1% and creates a subjective rating with no detail. You can download much better apps like coconut battery for free!

Doesn’t do what it’s meant to. Does not accurately show charging amps into phone. Not accurate in slightest. Uses a timer to see how long your battery percentage changes? As accurate as measuring wind speed by licking your finger. Gave it two stars cause it’s cheap. Was only more waste of time then money

An Excellent App. This app measures the battery charge accurately and is useful when comparing charging capabilities.

Ampres. I find this App to be most useful.

A handy app. This is a very handy app for checking chargers,at least that's what I use it for.

Wonderful App. I have many charging leads, some from Apple and some bought on eBay. I suspected a few of them gave poor charging performance. I ran them all on this app and found huge differences in charging rates. I have kept the best ones. Thanks for such a great App!

I’m strongly doubt about the accuracy of the charging test. As I was doing the first test on my iPhone XR with the 18w charger that I got from my iPad Pro the meter reads a wattage of 27.87w. It was impossible for the charger to deliver such wattage, as it only capable of delivering 18w, let alone the loss in the power transmission process. I was expecting a number like 15w so it makes sense.

Great Tool. Gives users insight to the inner workings of the battery charging system and allows performance testing of chargers and cables. A great tool!

Cant get same reading twice. Took multiple readings and the results aren't even close. Anywhere from 0.8 to 1.5. Not reliable

Pure garbage app. I do not recommend this application. I installed it on my iPhone 8 fully update it reached 100. Which I set it up! Nothing happened my phone was still charging and over charging.

Well that was $1.39 wasted!. Test never worked. WaSTE

Close to perfect. I don’t usually write reviews but I have to say this app is exactly what I was looking for and well worth the cost. It gives an approximate calculation based on the time it takes to charge a few percent. I was doing this manually to test my wireless and wired charging speeds, but the app is far simpler and more accurate than what I was doing. Very happy with it.

Great app checking cables / plugs. I have tried a few apps for testing my cables and plugs and amperes works the best out of them. Nice interface.

That was a waste of money.. While testing the charge rate of different wires (in airplane mode so there’s no interference) I get 3 different readings in 3 tests. Whenever I hit test my screen goes black. The light setting has gone down to the lowest. When I click settings the program crashes and closes. I had better luck with the free version.

5 amps?. Girlfriend, no.

Awesome app. Have been trying different configurations of cables and chargers with my iPhone 8 Plus, and the app tells me there is a phenomenal difference between cables, on the same charger!

Inaccurate. I tried this app with several USB-C chargers with the same cable and I got wildly differing results. For example , I have 2 similar chargers - different models from the same manufacturer - but with the same fast charge specs and the results are never similar. Please don’t use this app.

E for effort. Getting struck down by Apple 🍎. Feels bad.

Does not work. Once I start the test it would just crash 1% of the way.

Waste of money. Tried the compare wizard on an iPad Gen 7 using iPad charger base vs iPhone charger base. Battery was at 60% when I tried the test, which was in line with suggested testing zone. After an hour it still could produce a result. I gave up. Lame app. Don’t waste your time and money.

Alarm. Alarm doesn’t work and I get no notifications as to my battery reaching a limit I set . I paid for this app for that very feature. 2 stars alarm doesn’t work

Doesn’t work anymore. Probably an iOS 17 thing, but now it always says it is charging at ~1W. Which is…not accurate. Hopefully the dev can get this sorted out soon.

App does what its meant to do. This app is useful to anyone who wants to know which chargers to use and which ones to get rid of. The app is easy to use, interface is slick, and it does what its supposed to. I recommend running the test 3 times to come up with the average result.

Nice. Worth the upgrade. Keep it up

Works great. I test everything now.

Alarm not reliable. I’ve found I can’t depend on the app’s alarm to work when charging. When set to 80, it appears to work 4 out of 5 times.

Helpful. Here you can find everything you need to know about your battery. It‘s quality and rate.Helpful!

Excellent for measuring charger capability. DETAILED REVIEW.. —> UPDATED JULY 2020: Having used this app for well over a year now, I can say with an unwavering certainty that this is a very well thought out and well put together app amongst very few others in it’s category. I enjoy being able to test the reliability of my various charging cables, both USB.A & USB.C-to-Lightening as well a my USB.A & USB.C-to-USB.C cables I use for my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9”. Some of the more recent updates allow users to make more detailed notation of the tests performed, both about the cables used as well as the charging adapter used. — Keep up the good work Amperes Team! • BACKGROUND & A NEED FOR THIS APP: Following the release of the iPhone 8,8+, and X came the ability to "fast charge" your iPhone. Apple provided this feature only when utilizing an Apple original USC-C to Lightening cable, powered by a USB-C Power Delivery (PD) rated charging port capable of supplying 18w of power through the USB-C interface. • Despite Apple's 'requirments', dozens of manufacturers on Amazon claimed their USB-C-to-Lightning cables were "fast charge certified." This allowed the possibility of saving an easy $20 by forgoing the Apple cable for an aftermarket alternative. ❗️ Enter the Amperes app. ❗️ ➡️ This app was able to successfully determine that Apple's claims were indeed true; that only the Apple original USC-C cables would provide the claimed "fast charge" capability. Since that time, I have continued using this app to measure a large variety of charging blocks (or hubs or whatever...USB to AC units). • I have found it pretty interesting seeing how different brands of cables interact with iOS, how different qualities of USB converters deliver power, and even more so, how effectively the new "smart" Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 USB-A chargers work (the orange USB ports). 🤔 These are all details and topics I have never thought a second about, but after using this app, I have gained a lot of insight on the importance of quality charging equipment. Thank you Amperes developers for helping me gain this rather useless knowledge. 👍 Definitely recommend this app to test the condition of your cables and chargers. The newest version of the app has made phenomenal improvement to the usability and understandably of the information provided. Good job guys! I made sure to donate and "buy you guys a beer" lol Sidenote: The Qualcomm QC 3.0 claimed to communicate with your device to offer the maximum (or "ideal") amount of power to charge your device in the fastest possible fashion while still maintaining battery/device health. (versus potentially pushing to much power and damaging a device, or alternatively, pushing too little power resulting in poor charging performance) • I have determined that QC3.0 did not do anything different than a standard 12W-2.4A iPad charging base. Seems to be marketing hype.

This Works Perfectly ( for me). There may be features you want that I haven’t noticed and/or missed. Probably some nifty features I haven’t thought of, but probably the person who wrote this app will add them is s/he hears from you about them and likes the idea. In the interim, this one’s still perfect for me. From a former nerd who can’t write code well these days but can still appreciate it.

Effective Measuring App. Had two spare cables lying around and thought I'd give this app a go. Turns out one of them charged the phone faster than the other one. Overall, a really good app for figuring this kind of stuff out.

Doesn’t work with IOS 17. Liked this app until it stopped working with new iPhone 15 pro max and IOS 17. Needs update!

It's good. Works fine and does what it claims to do. I can recommend it

差评!差评!差评!. Bad reviews! Don't pop up all day and night to give you good reviews! Is there a reason to ask customers like this?

Used to work, now doesn’t.. Keeps reporting a charge rate of 51.75 watts on a 10.5 iPad Pro when connected to an 18W charger.

Great App. Awesome app. It met and exceeded my expectations

Does not show charging rate. Even though it purports to show the charging right it does not. Do not purchase this app is crap

The best. Awesome app

doesent apear on subscription. to cancle. this is a scam i downloaded this app and it doesent work well on my iphone 12

Stupid app. This app just times how long it takes to charge one percent. It does not show real information about input current.

Works. Love comparing my chargers. Nerd level 11

Doesn't work for fast charging. I got this to see how much faster fast charging really is. Doesn't work: iPhone charger - 814 iPad charger - 1629 Every single fast charger I tried - 1222 Yes, I'm using the Apple cable and yes, I'm getting a double chime when plugging them in. In fact one of my fast chargers is bogus and I only get one chime when plugging it in. Turns out it's only 3A. That one gets a score of 1222 as well. Even my wall socket USB ports get an exact score of 1222. The official Apple 67W adapter got a score of 977. Good to know the 1A iPhone charger and the fast charging 67W adapter are basically the same. Oh and, all these numbers came from my iPhone X being in the 50% range. This app is garbage! Response to developer: According to an actual watt meter your numbers are still garbage. Review stays at 1 star. "I would love to get more accurate results myself, BUT its not available via the iOS at this moment. Apple locked access to this data since iOS 10." Thanks for admitting the app gives less than accurate results. A competitor app? Ha! Whatever gets you to sleep at night bud. I'm just calling out the fact this app is not accurate at all as you even stated yourself. Also there is a more accurate way as I clearly stated earlier with an actual watt meter. Of which I used to bust the reliability of this app. Keep it up man, I can go on forever. And to add to all this, I got some bogus 8000+ reading on my USB wall outlet last night which maxes out at 2.4A. Perfect timing as I was showing a buddy of mine how this app doesn't work.

Key stats made easy. App makes it simple to measure charge speeds and compare cables and chargers.

Charging application. This is the only charging application that I found that is decent for iPhone there are a couple of really good ones for android. Instead of having the testing mode, just have it moniter wall current, maximum wattage received to the phone. That way if the battery is not working properly you will know because you can see it in real time.

Absolutely Amazing App. I like having a multimeter for my iPhone! Powerful stuff.

Doesn’t work. Doesn’t read amps correctly. Tried with many different Apple power bricks And cords. They all read at 480-520ma only. Apple wouldn’t even refund my money when I put in a request.

Something in the app broke in ios 17.. Updating my review, as it seems like this could be due to iOS17 instead of developer. But as of writing/editing (10/03) this app does not work on iOS17. It is not representing the correct values. ***** Wattage rate is shown tremendously low. None of my wireless chargers show an output of more than 1 watt

Exactly what it says. I am very pleased with this app. I purchased it to test my Ventev 3 port wall charger. I suspected that it was not functioning at full capacity. Happily, I was wrong! One of the ports is very fast. Amperes tested all 3 of the ports. If I can figure out how to upload a screenshot of my results I will... I tested this on my IPad, which was at about 55 % charged. Here are Amperes’s results: **Port #1 is physically labeled on the charger “2.4A”. (named by me on the test as “Ventev 1” - for reference, if I successfully upload a photo). It took 122 seconds to charge 1% of the battery. 2602 mA. 13.01 Watt. **Port #2 is physically labeled on the charger “3A”. (named by me on the test as “Ventev 2”). It took 550 seconds to charge 1% of the battery. 577 mA. 2.88 Watt. **Port #3 also physically labeled on the charger “3A”. (named by me on the test as “Ventev 3”). It took 508 seconds to charge 1% of the battery. 625 mA. 3.12 Watt. There are some really negative reviews about this App, and I was nervous about trying it out. But the developer repeatedly responded with solid information, so I decided to take a chance. I am really glad that I did. I travel for pleasure only, and my 3 port charger is really nice in a hotel, to charge multiple units from the same outlet. I am glad to know it is working properly. ( I think I can only upload a photo on Amazon reviews- not here).

NA. NS

Does not work on ipad in landscape mode. How disappointing in 2021 that someone designed an app that is not portable to landscape mode on an ipad - this is easy just regen the code to support it - - did you forget that people use iPads just as much as iPhones - too bad I paid my two bucks to have to find out this limitation. Yucky.

Was awesome !. Too bad Apple killed it. 🥲

attention please 😔. The error in the alarm is to lower the charging ratio you specify

Erratic results. Seems promising, but right now the results are too erratic to be useful. I had my iPhone XR connected to a 39W USB-C charger via a USB-C-to-Lightning cable, and the nonstop test cycled constantly back and forth between two completely different, but repeating, readings - 2648/13.25W and 1765/8.82W. I then tried it in my car on my 2.1A 5V adapter, and it cycled between 2648/13.25W and around 1324/6.25W. It seems that perhaps something needs tweaking for an XR running IOS 12.1.

Results Are Too Slow. I was looking for a true mA display app to gauge my charging tools. An app that displays the true charging rate in mA, this is not it. The scoring might be ok for some, not for me.

Total waste. Test turns off if you go to another app Finally watched it do nothing for 10 minutes and gave up, Wanted an app to show charge rate which should be able to do in seconds. Don’t waste your dollar. I gave it one star because there was nothing lower Jax

Worthy buying. This app helps to measure different cables and different charges

Like the app. A lot of functionality! And it works!

Neeed update. Not working on ios 17

Doesn’t work properly on iPhone 11 Pro. I’m getting nonsense charger test results even when following directions carefully on my brand new iPhone 11 Pro. My wireless charger definitely isn’t outputting 68.53 watts.

Inaccurate. Told me my phone was charging at 2.5A when it was connected to a 500mA supply.
