roller coaster. UPDATE: I just discovered that when I crop an old screenshot and then export it, Art Studio Pro is exporting the OLD date with the NEW picture. That's an unacceptable change. So. I'm forced to go back to the old Art Studio, and will do my cropping there because it correctly puts the date in the Camera Roll as the date my cropped version arrives there. Otherwise, my Camera Roll would be a jumbled mess of dates and it would become impossible to find anything. PREVIOUS REVIEW: I used the old version for a year, used it often for certain things like cropping images. This version improves that aspect. I can have several docs open at once. And I can have lots of layers. So far, it has been flawless with that. And I've used it a lot for that purpose. It helps with my studies in that way. All five stars are for excellent cropping and image handling. It has helped me a LOT and I use it almost every day. It earned those five stars. But the brush system is a mess, in my opinion, for people like me who like to create lots of modified and/or new brushes. Some settings changes don't hold. In my opinion, reset is a disaster. It highlights one preset, while showing another, etc. I keep updating to no avail. I will not be using this for sketching or painting though many may find it satisfactory for that. I'd really hoped it could compete with Procreate, but it still can't even be used for my painting purposes. I'm at peace with that.

Excellent, except for one thing:. From what I have seen so far, this app is top notch, real professional digital painting and editing software. It is fantastic. The only thing that I think really needs to be fixed is: there needs to be an option to reset a brush to its default settings. I have been having the problem of the ‘color acrylic’ brush not painting when I open a new document, and an option to reset it to default settings might fix that, unless the issue is having more than one copy of the same brush with different settings, that is preventing me from painting. PS: I have noticed the same problem of brushes not painting with two other brushes (that come with the program): Rough Acrylic and Mixer Rough. I have tried to find what brush settting, if any is causing the problem, with no luck so far. Please, can I get a developer response on this? I would greatly appreciate it.

So close to being perfect!. This is the only app I have found to offer anything like a photoshop experience without sacrificing on painting speed. The ability to import brushes that just work is fantastic and seamless, this program handles photoshop brushes better than photoshop! The one thing that keeps me going back to programs like clip studio or Procreate is the quick access features they offer. You can truly work with just the tablet with those programs. You can in artstudio but it involves browsing through the menus or manually selecting each tool or feature when you need it. This seems like a smaller limitation at first but it really prevents the user from ever getting into a quick workflow and I find myself switching back to those other programs when I want to get an idea out quickly. All in all this is a fantastic program that offers a lot of powerful functionality. It is just hindered by the users ability to quickly access that functionality. If and when this app receives some sort of customizable onscreen shortcuts or quick access menu, it will truly be the best available art app on iOS.

Yes it’s better. I can’t believe the difference between the number of purchases of procreate and Artstudio Pro. I’ve used procreate since I bought my iPad Pro about 7 months ago and always wanted a better brush. I downloaded brushes, made my own brushes but it always left me wanting a certain characteristic that procreate just didn’t give me. So I thought I’d give Artstudio a chance and WOW, right out of the box all the brushes work as I expected. It feels like a brush. The only thing procreate has over Artstudio is simplicity and a cleaner experience. But I don’t need that, I need the features of ArtStudio and wish the developers the best, the did a great job. I get frustrated here and there but overall it’s great. These guys need more sales, it’s way more robust and the paint quality the best I’ve seen. 👏

This is literally photoshop, but better. I have NEVER left a review on an app before (and I’ve been an IOS user since the first ever iPod came out), but ArtStudio is just too good not to leave a review for. I’ve been using Photoshop on my PC for drawing, photo editing, and professional work for the past six years and when I finally got an iPad with Apple Pencil support I was really hoping Procreate or one of the numerous other drawing/editing apps would be able to replace the feel of PS. Unfortunately, even though Procreate is indeed an amazing drawing program, it still doesn’t really satisfy my need for the familiar feel of photoshop and drawing with photoshop brushes. ArtStudio Pro solved all my problems. It’s got everything you could need and MORE (I especially love their amazing smoothing/line weight algorithm and pressure customization). It’s basically Photoshop, but without having to pay the ridiculous Adobe subscription every month. The price for this app is perfect, in my opinion (and honestly it’s even a bit low, for all it’s able to accomplish) and I really want to give a huge thank you to everyone who worked on/is working on this app and updating it. You’ve saved me so much money and frustration. Hats of to you!

Deserving of a place on every painter’s iPad. This app sits between Procreate and Affinity Photo on my dock. It actually functions like a middle ground to those apps. It has more adjustment features than Procreate but fewer than AP. It paints better than AP but I tend to like Procreate better for sketching and regular painting without adjustments. It has a bit more lag than Procreate for me but less than AP. ArtStudio Pro has a very Photoshop style interface and function, more so than the more feature rich Affinity Photo or the simpler Procreate. It’s a good and bad thing for me. The familiarity is great but it does slow me down compared to Procreate and even AP somewhat. If what you want most is Photoshop on the iPad, this is the one for you! It’s excellent! Also, the developer is constantly improving and adding to the app, which should be commended since so few developers dedicate so much to updating regularly. UPDATE: The 2.0 Interface adds some really awesome, time-saving things. For one the new color pallet is excellent to have at my fingertips at all times. Having a quick menu like Procreate is definitely a great improvement to speeding up my workflow.

Promising! ~LWitherspoon. I used the old version of this daily for 5 years. Mainly for hobby (tabletop rpgs), sometimes for my job. I don’t own a pc, so I used it on my phone as a poor man’s photoshop. I was able to get some impressive results doing things that required fine details. I was surprised with what I could accomplish using only my phone and finger. I tried the other popular apps, Artstudio was clearly more powerful and more serious. Now it’s got a new, even more powerful engine with unlimited layers, cloud storage (allowing me to switch back and forth from my phone to my new iPad), and plenty of other new features. I would have given 4 stars, since there’s no user manual and some of the settings/preferences don’t allow me to do what I used to on the old app, but I took some of my problems to their forum and discovered that the developer is very responsive and LISTENS to what their users are saying. I feel my money was well spent, and I’m having fun playing with this new thing whenever I get a chance.

Absolutely FANTASTIC!!!. Wow, I remember using the original Artstudio on the first gen ipad. Back then it was a cool, functional app. But this version is something else entirely. TLDR; I’ve used just about every drawing and painting app out there for the ipad, stretching all the way back to first gen ipad and big rubber conductive stylus with the Brushes app. This app has quickly taken the throne and is now the first and only app i open for drawing and painting. ArtStudio offers a full fledged image editing environment to rival the likes of photoshop, GIMP and affinity photo. The brush engine is just something that needs to be experienced to really appreciate. These brushes FEEL SOOO GOOD and they are completely customizable, importable and exportable. Performance is top notch with buttery smooth brush strokes, 120hz zooming an panning and a snappy, responsive UI. I can’t recommend this app enough. For whatever reason, everyone seems to be on the “Procreate” train when it comes to painting apps on the ipad. IMHO, this app beats procreate by a HUGE margin in absolutely every category.

Faster than Procreate. I love the brush speed, blending and default brush. I’ve used Procreate for quite a while. I’m really familiar with it so switching completely is tough. The pure painting and blending on Art Studio is better than Procreate IMO. Some of the functions I wish they had in Art Studio are: curve and shape assist. Procreate helps you draw perfect curves and circles by drawing and holding the pen at arc or shape completion. It would be nice to be able to add transform and flip canvas to shortcut in painting mode, since I don’t use a keyboard; or as a gesture command. It’s possible these options exist and I missed it in the info. I was prompted to do this review immediately after exiting, but I took about 2 hours to paint and put it through my normal process. Overall, it beats Procreate. I can live without the curve assist and shortcuts in paint mode.

Not as user friendly as the old version.. Here are a couple of things that I don’t really like about this new art studio. These are probably because I don’t know how to use it but, eh... I was able to figure the other one out. -The canvass rotates when you zoom in and out. Unlike computers you can rotate the object the program is on, it’s just really off putting to have everything move around. This is one of the reasons I choose the legacy version rather than any other phone-art program. -It’s really hard to change line art colors? This was a problem for me in the old version too, I was hoping something would be done to fix it. I realize this is made more for people who make painting and that’s all fine and dandy but that should be a Standard feature. Sometimes you need to change a layer’s colors selectively. Filters shouldn’t be the only option. Maybe just my own inability to find out how to use it but since this is such a new app I can’t really ask google. -The UI is annoying. It just is. I don’t like the sliders at the bottom or the hidden away customization for brushes. The old way where everything was in the same place was much better. The different types of brushes don’t need to be accessed immediately unlike how you want that brush to look. Your pre-programed stuff isn’t that great. I’m legitimately sorry I waisted almost $12 on this. I don’t really have that great of a job in the first place this was a mistake. This app is a downgrade. Get the old one.

Art Studio Pro for Mac. I have used this app for many years. I am not an artist. I write children’s books that need colorful illustrations. The tools in ArtStudio Pro provides allows a non-artist to create these illustrations. I really love this app. I used the mouse on my Mac desktop but recently switched to a px-pen deco pro sw drawing pad and pen. Well, the deco pro drivers would not work with my Mac. I emailed Lucky Clan and explained my issue. They worked on the issue until they had the problem resolved. Support like that is very important to me. Now my talented granddaughter is my illustrator and she uses ArtStudio Pro. I write the stories, she draws the illustrations and emails them to me to plug into the manuscript. She loves ArtStudio Pro too, and I’m still having fun learning to draw.

Great app, but slows me down a bit. Really enjoying the app. Coming from a desktop and using photoshop, I find this app to be a great introduction to mobile digital painting. It has an easy to navigate interface and tools similar to photoshop I have grown to love. However from time to time I run into road blocks that take me out of my creative process. Eye dropping is a function I perform constantly throughout a painting. I like the long press function in ArtStudio that allows me to eye drop so I don’t have to keep navigating over to a button. But often the long press doesn't eye drop and instead creates a mark. This can really slow me down. One other obstacle I keep experiencing is my palm will trigger an undo gesture (normally a double tap gesture). These 2 hiccups can take me out of the zone and sometimes make me feel like just going back to the photoshop. But at the same time I do appreciate being able to sit on my couch or going outside and doing a plein air painting. So as long as I mentally prepare myself for a slower painting process it not too bad. Ps I would love to see my cursor hover before making a mark so I know how big my brush is all the time. I’d also would like it if there was more of a dynamic brush cursor preview instead of just a circle.

Absolutely Fantastic!. So I’ve only use Artstudio for a few days now and I have to say, it’s fantastic. This app is like if Clip Studio and Procreate had a baby, this would be it. I’m a heavy user of both CSP and Procreate as a profesional comic artist and Illustrator and I have to say, I’m very please. The UI is sleek and compact but all the features and functions are very easily accessible. Super important for me are the shortcut keys, and I can use my Xkeys with this app, which is great. There are too many features and functions I could talk about in comparison between all 3 apps and how this app excels, but that would be a very long review. Suffice to say this could very well become my main app for my workflow going forward. Great Job to the Developers!

Can you please add a lot of more stuff in art studio pro. Describe the problem / suggestion: I love art studio pro Dear lucky clan I have ideas to make art studio pro even better can you please add more options under the curves and add a option to go up to 100 mirrors in the symmetry and please add a option to change the shape of the color picker for example a triangle and a circle a hexagon there is no HSV sliders in the color picker please add it and please add a lot of more filters and please add a warp option in the transform and please add an option to customize the slider bars and the interface for example you can change the color of it please make the brush engine more powerful and please add an option for you can draw with 2 or more fingers and please add the edge option and crystals option and more options under the elastify filter and please add a online gallery and please add options for 3 finger swipe up 3 fingers swipe down 3 fingers swipe left 3 fingers swipe right and 3 fingers tap and 2 fingers tap in performance and please add define hot keys buttons please make art studio pro the most powerful drawing app in the word make it a lot closer to desk top photo shop please add a lot of more stuff that I did not think of From tommy ❤️😘💕🙏😂🎉😍🥰😘😍🥰😚😝🤞🤞🤟🏼👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨👨‍❤️‍👨👩‍❤️‍👩👩‍❤️‍👨👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩❤️🧡💛💙🤎🤍🖤💜❣️💕🤍💔☮️💟💝💘💖✝️💟♥️

Great Program! Could use some improvements. I absolutely love this program! It does nearly everything I need it to do! I’ve been able to do the majority of my art and commissions on my iPad thanks to this app. Definitely one of the best low cost art apps you can buy for your iPad! The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars is the lack of good blending tools. I haven’t been able to find any brushes that can blend with transparency, I usually have to blend it into another color on the same layer. This makes it so that I have to keep going back to Procreate and my laptop to finish coloring pieces. I would also like to be able to select my own colors for gradients. Those are my suggestions for the developers. Other than that, this is a great program and I use it all the time! Definitely worth checking out! 💖🌸✨

NEED BUG FIX. Amazing app, still 5 stars. HOWEVER, I just started experiencing a pretty serious glitch with the gradient layer effects since the latest update. When the gradient overlay effect is enabled, the app is suddenly not allowing a different gradient (other than the default white-black) to be selected. The menus and view controllers are still behaving as expected; they still allow a user to select a different gradient. However, once that menu is closed and the view controller comes back to the primary gradient overlay menu (opacity, blend mode, etc), the gradient you thought you selected has not applied. I tried selecting several different ones; including the spectrums, and the basic ones as well. None appear to be working. In addition, when attempt to select the gradient itself to make manual changes to the hues or adjust scale, it’s not showing the different hue containers, midpoints, or opacity adjustments. I have tried troubleshooting it in every possible way, but it’s apparently something I can’t fix. Just a heads up, please fix soon. Thanks guys!!!

Just like Photoshop!. This app is incredible! Adobe yet again disappointed me with the limited capabilities of their Sketch App. I had the old version or artstudio on my iphone and when I got an ipad pro I was just WISHING this app would be updated. I thought the developers stopped working on it. I was so heartbroken haha. But I was pleasantly surprised by this release! Artstudio knows exactly what artists want from a mobile studio and created a Photoshop on mobile better than Adobe ever could. Within minutes of installing this app I had no problem getting a hang of it. UI is very intuitive. Im constantly impressed by what this app is capable of. And the brush tool with the Apple pencil blows Wacom Cintiq out of the water. Congratulations Lucky Clan, you and Apple have made Wacom obsolete!

1 Tool missing that would almost make it Perfect!!. I Love This App So Much…. But I have been waiting & waiting to see if you added The PEN TOOL, And All the Things it can do…. I Just Know You Guys can do it! I Believe in YOU!!!! Seriously I Really Do I think you Guys & Gals, can pull that off very easily, And just the fact that I use it like ALL the time, Especially for Logo Designs and stuff like that, And I’m sure it is not just me that would want it Many Other people would Love to have it as well!!!! That and like one other thing is what would make me Switch from Photoshop to ARTSTUDIO Pro, on iPad Pro, Cause I’m planning on doing a Whole Graphic Novel in ARTSTUDIO Pro…. I Ask you to Please Consider Putting the PEN TOOL in?????????

Pretty Much Perfect!. Art Studio was the first art app I tried out on my old 3rd gen iPad, and it’s amazing to see how much it has grown in that time and how well it suits doing professional work on the iPad Pro. A familiar interface layout makes it simple for desktop users to transition over to working in Art Studio, while smartly-implemented tablet features make it easy to stay! Brush creation is as nuanced and advanced as Clip Studio and Photoshop on the desktop! I was able to perfectly recreate my favorite custom brushes using the same brush tips and patterns. Performance is amazing on the 2020 iPad Pro and absolutely demolishes my PC at the same canvas resolutions (4K - 7K). My PC is "better" on paper with an expensive GPU, CPU, and tons of RAM, but iOS and Art Studio’s optimizations make that basically irrelevant. In short, I don’t miss my PC when I’m using this app. My only cons are a couple features I wish could be implemented: 1. The ability for the magic wand to select from reference layers — this would be especially useful for me as a comic artist and digital painter for making quick selections from my flat colors layer. 2. The ability to have multiple presets for the Quick Menu that you can swap through when you bring it up. Without a keyboard for shortcuts, this ability would be absolutely invaluable for me. Art Studio is easily the best $12 I’ve ever spent on software! Fantastic job, devs!

The Best Available, Hands Down. ArtStudio is hands down the best photo editing application I have found available on iPhone; hands down, it is the closest thing you will find to Photoshop on an iPhone. Users with photoshop experience will be able to use the application productively very quickly because of the similarities and layout. It allows you to import and export photoshop documents, and I am a developer and graphic designer; so I use this app regularly for quick simple changes or if I am in a bind. The interface is setup very similar to photoshop; it has all the primary features you would expect, and also the most commonly used more advanced features. It’s very useful for creating/editing images for social media and marketing; like editing text layers, adding overlays, or adjusting resolutions for different platforms.

Better than ProCreate if you want a more PC-like experience.. tl;dr, if you’re more familiar with the traditional drawing software on PC, this is the app you wanna pick. I’ve been doing some digital sketches in my free time for quite some time and I brought myself an iPad last year. I mostly use Krita on my PC with a pen display before I got the iPad. I’ve told that Procreate is one of the top notch drawing app on iPad and I spent 10 bucks on it and after first few attempts, I immediately noticed that the app is so far away from the traditional drawing software like Krita and Photoshop. Looking around the internet communities I got this app recommended by lots of posts claiming that this is the app for those who has more experience in digital drawing, hence I spent 15 bucks on it to give it a shot after hesitation. At the first glance I can tell that this looks a lot like the UI I’m familiar with, and working with this app for some time I can tell this is the way I recognized in the past. It has no layer limitations like Procreate, so I can work a lot comfortable with no worries, and the brush feels so much better. I will definitely recommend you get this app, with only 5 bucks more expensive you’ll get something more polished and better. I am not regretting purchasing this app.

Absolutely the best programs that I have on my iPad for painting.. If this app ever quit working and it hasn’t yet, I would be completely lost on how to turn out the beautiful paintings that the turn out using this app and one of my main go toos. No I take it back it’s not one of my go to‘s it is my first go to you for almost everything I start. I wish I could show you the beautiful paintings that I have done using this program. Our use the old version for years but this new version wow it has so many features. I can actually take a photograph and Using the smudge acrylics Brush, it’s just like I’m painting on canvas with a brush but using my Apple Pencil. And it really looks like and here’s an acrylic painting on my iPad. Unbelievable, the best type program I have ever bought, or probably will ever buy and I have a lot of them. Thank you for making this app available it is an artist dream.

Love ArtStudio but little glitches with new update *FIXED*. Edit: Wow, the dev team is truly amazing. It’s only been a couple days since the issue I was running into about the pixelation when using the undo and redo buttons, as well as the selection issues, but they already came out with an update and everything is fixed! I never write reviews but this app and its team is absolutely wonderful, thank you for being so on top of everything! ~~~ I have been a long time user of ASP, love this app and it’s even replaced Photoshop for me because of how powerful it is. The new update 4.0 has been amazing and love all the new features and UI. The most recent update/version, though, has done something weird whenever I use the undo or redo options. About 70% of the time after pressing undo or redo, my canvas blurs and I have to pan around for it to unblur again. It’s obviously not a huge deal, but it’s annoying enough when I’m constantly using the undo button while drawing and my drawing is constantly blurring. Wanted to bring this to the devs attention in case they haven’t seen it yet from other users. Other than that, this is my favorite application to use! Edit: I also have noticed that when making selections with the lasso tools in the new version, if you pan around or zoom in and out to go make another selection, the marching ants around the previous selections disappear. I have to pan around aimlessly before the selections appear again

Highly Underrated App. This has become my go-to digital painting app. Though Procreate’s painting engine is amazing, it doesn’t allow me to create 24X36” canvases at 300dpi. Artstudio does. Also, Procreate clips any part of a layer that is moved outside of frame. I often slide my layers around and move them in and out of view. Artstudio allows me to do this without clipping them. Another thing I like about Artstudio is that I can create folders and subfolders while on the home screen. The Affinity apps and Procreate don’t allow me to do this. Sounds trivial but subfolders are vital to my workflow. Artstudio has a great painting/drawing engine and plenty of tools to utilize. I find the interface to be easy to navigate. If you’re familiar with Photoshop then Artstudio won’t be difficult to pick up. Finally, no subscription! I don’t do subscription apps. I like to own my software. Artstudio is a one-time fee and not expensive at all. Great job Lucky Clan!

About to be my go-to app!. Everyone compares this to the other drawing/painting apps and for good reason. There are many out there to choose from and this is in my top 3 for sure. It always had the capability to use photoshop brushes since I’ve owned it. I love the interface overall and the new update allows you to get more screen if you like to see the canvas only without clutter. This helps with screen recording as well. “Grandfathered in” to owning it for life since I paid for the full version back in the day. They are now moving to a subscription model and that could help them put more into the app itself. I love that I got on the train much sooner. I don’t like that I can’t select a layer and then paint on a different layer without adding a mask. Once certain bugs gets fixed, it’ll be a solid 5 from me. I open a document and it’s down to the right. 🫤

One of my all time favorite apps.. I could go on and on giving positive lip service to this app. I’ve been using art studio since inception and and now use art studio pro almost daily. That said, there is one thing that has been bothering since I got the app and I actually assume there is probably an option I could click to clear it up but I just haven’t seen one in my absent minded rummaging through options. The problem I’m having is that the gallery is stored in “the cloud” . The iPad itself has thumbnail representations which you click on and then wait for the file to download, which can take a while depending on your project size. The real problem for me is that the thumbnails all have question marks on them and no picture to represent the artwork. I’m not in the habit of naming every piece and even if I was I wouldn’t remember what name represents what picture. Is there something I’m missing here? Some way to enable the thumbnails to have picture representations of the artwork? Thank you.

Excellent App for Photoshop refugees. I am a beta tester for Procreate. I have been since their second year in business. I have been a loyal user of Adobe software since 1997. I have also used over two dozen mobile art apps and I’ve watched ArtStudio evolve into something extraordinary. With each iteration, the team at Lucky Clan outdo themselves and now it’s to a point where I simply haven’t touched my Cintiq and desktop Mac in a few years. It’s a great time to be a work from home digital illustrator and thanks to this iPad Pro there’s no turning back. If you have spent years using Photoshop to illustrate bitmap images, you can transition almost seamlessly to ArtStudio Pro. It handles far more layers than Procreate and has many of the bells and whistles you are used to at Adobe. Hats off to you guys over there. Glad I stuck around because I can say that your app is top notch and the performance takes a back seat to no one. This app is a 10 out of 10 for me.

Keep Going Back to Art Studio. Years ago, when I found “Art Studio,” I was ecstatic. It was easy to use and met all my needs. Then along came “Pro.” I was all in until I found myself getting frustrated and constantly asking myself, “Do I really want to spend the next half an hour trying to find a feature that used to take me only seconds to find in the legacy app.” More times that not, I head back to “Art Studio.” Some might say, “you just might not be tech savvy enough.” My counter to that is that is two fold. For me, art is way for me to relax and to have fun while being creative. Secondly, throughout my over fifty year career of military and civilian flying, I have flown and taught others to fly some very sophisticated aircraft. One constant theme in evaluating “new technology “ is how user friendly is it? Can I quickly and easily select a particularly function or do I have to dig through a ten step process to get to it? The simple way can sometimes be more powerful and infinitely more enjoyable than digging through one hundred pounds of “high tech” features crammed into a one pound bag hidden in six foot deep hole.

An "On-The-Go Miracle". I'll be honest... I've been guilty of getting some of my apps from third party sources, this app being one I discovered while doing just that. For the last year, I've found that this app has literally become an everyday part of my life. There is so much that simply cannot be done in the field of image manipulation on an iPhone, that this app as this app alone seems to both make possible, and make easy. I had no qualms about forking over the just under twelve bucks asked for this app... None. I would've paid double (but don't go changing the price, lol... I'm always looking for the best deal, and you've got it priced perfectly😉). This app allows one to do on-the-go what could previously only be done on an actual computer. Miraculous app, worth every penny, you won't be disappointed.💯 PS I never write reviews, either, so.... 😉👍🏼👍🏼

ArtStudio Pro revolutionized my artwork!. This is the first review I have ever left for a product. I had to log in to show my support. I have been used several products over the years to include GIMP, Inksape, Krita, Procreate, Paper, and several other art programs. I purchased the original ArtStudio and used it on the Ipad2. About 1 month ago, I purchased ArtStudio Pro have been overwhelmed with how good the program is. The layers capabilities are great. It is easy to export files into PSD, TIFF, JPG, PNG and other formats. The only thing I would recommend is adding more undos, I’m not sure how many there are currently, but maybe doubling or tripling the number would be helpful. Other than that, I cannot say enough good things about the program. Thank you Lucky Clan.

Love it, but theres just one thing i really need…. TLDR I need glow dodge.. everything is great, truly, I’ve been using this app for a while and i can work with it, but I NEED glow dodge. I came here from CSP because i was sick of how they double standard their software, as long as you are PC you are free to buy it in one payment, but the price for ipad usage was going up and up from 60 to 70 to 80$ a year. I had this app ever since launch, but at that time there was still a lot of features to be added and glitches to be fixed to I held off on using it until it was better. But after coming for CSP, and having something that instantly brightens my art the way glow dodge does, i cannot survive. My art is alright currently, im not “amazing” by any means, but I truly do use these kinds of tools a lot because of my habits to make the image dull to emphasize the focal point after. Glow Dodge was the tool I used most to achieve this. Color dodge was meh.. and unfortunately thats the thing we sorta have right now is color dodge, there really isnt a tool that makes colors more vibrant, just ones that put hazy color filters, and a LOT of the filters have the same effect.

Long Time User, Missing Some Features from ArtStudio. I have been using ArtStudio since the first version on the iPad 1 and I do all my digital art on it. It’s a great app to have when you’re on the go and still want to work on art. ArtStudio Pro introduces a lot of good features, like customizable color palettes, rotating the canvas, and a much nicer Lasso tool. The Apple Pencil works great with it, especially the Taper brush. Being that this is an app I swear by and recommend to everyone, I do have only two main complaints. In the original ArtStudio it was possible to make custom brushes. I used this to make grass, flower, and tree brushes that were VERY handy. ArtStudio Pro does not seem to offer the ability to make custom brushes, and I’ve had to hold off from doing landscapes unless I want to draw everything from scratch. Secondly, resizing the canvas was much easier before, as you could choose the dimensions and then crop your art with a square that would encompass the area you wanted to keep. In ArtStudio Pro, there is no preview of the resized canvas, so it’s all guesswork on what dimensions to use and where to crop. I paid more money for this so it doesn’t make sense it’d be missing things the old app got right. I will probably be using this app til the end of my days, so hopefully they can add these features in newer updates to make things a bit easier for those of us who enjoyed the other app too!

A great hybrid app that lacks some features. The app is very intuitive it is better designed for swift editing either than affinity photo or photoshop. That said it sits inbetween the aforementioned and painting apps like procreate. It lacks filters such as reflect/mirror, mesh warp, etc and the importing or brushes, shapes, vectors is not presnrt or without any intellugent inegrstion. I think for future growth the dev should integrate some of these systems. I for one do not like that i have ten art programs that i wish one would do. However, if you are looking for a painting app with pretty good editing functions it is in many respects an improvement on any single one of the apps mentioned. If you already own a paint app and an pro editor then you will not be filling in any lack.

Way better than I expected. First of all, I’m kind of a hack. I’ve never had art-related schooling and mostly I just like to putz around for my own amusement. I loved the original ArtStudio and thru it I was able to have as much fun as I wanted. But somewhere along the line, lots of people I ran across on Instagram were talking up Procreate and so I switched. Procreate is a fine program, but I kind of liked the way “my old shoe fit” and was never able to feel as comfortable as I was with ArtStudio. When ArtStudio finally came out with an update, I choked on the price a bit ... remember, I’m a hacker that’s short on skills. Anyway, I finally got over it and through down the cash. Boy, it’s like I put back on my favorite shoes again. I can kind of get by with the fact there are far less tutorials related to ArtStudio than Procreate because ArtStudio just kind of makes sense to me, and the rest is up to my imagination.

Best art app for iPad. I’m a digital artist and have used pretty much every app available for iPad. There are some that have great features but are either really buggy or lack some basic functionality. The developers of Artstudio Pro are truly amazing and are constantly updating features. At this point, the app has matured to the point that it has everything I need and is totally stable. It’s one of the few apps that fully supports Photoshop brushes. It’s a pleasure to use and, because it is so robustly supported and so frequently updated, I feel confident investing my time and money into it. Save yourself a lot of headaches trying to find the ideal app for art. If Procreate and Photoshop had a baby, this would be it. I can’t recommend this app enough.

Wow!!. I've been a long time user of ArtStudio (wow, has it really already been six years?) and love using it for all my art for t-shirts and stickers. When I heard that you guys revamped the app, I bought it as soon as I could. After playing around for a little while, there's still some things I need to get used to from the old app. Would it be possible to move the transparency lock on layers back next to the visibility buttons? Furthermore, I always loved the convenience of having the undo and redo buttons right on the front of the screen without having to click a drop down. It was a handy shortcut, similar to CTRL+Z on a PC art program. Will we ever see those features return? Either way, this app is absolutely brilliant, and I can't wait to watch it continue to improve.

Nailed it! PC version?. Update! You all have been nailing it with these updates lately. Definitely an iPad art staple. Any chance we pc users might get some love too? Would love to move from iPad to pc in the same environment and keep my video recording. I’ve been recommending this to all my artist friends. Thank you for such a quality app! ———-_———————————— Previous This is probably one of my fave art apps on the iPad Pro. I love having a familiar interface to work with. With that said my biggest annoyance has to be the auto save. I’m glad it’s there but it’s annoying for it to pop up and halt everything until it finishes. I wish it happened it the background without bringing attention to itself. The colors on the side are a fantastic idea but kind of useless as I haven’t found a way to save colors I want there. It would be so much more useful if I could import a palette there or add on the fly. It would also be extremely cool to have 3-4 small fave icons near undo for brushes you want to switch between often. The last thing that kind of gets annoying is the offset of the color picker. It would be more convenient if it were picking up colors right where my finger is or very close to it. Overall even as is I really enjoy using the app and have been recommending it. Looking forward to future updates! :)

PERFECT app... when it will OPEN. This app is everything i ever wanted in an Artstudio upgrade: the increased amount of starting colors, the menu explaining all the tools, and in particular the screen recording feature are more than i could ever ask for. But! Frequently, and for sometimes long stretches of time, i will open the program and be greeted by a blank canvas, with none of the buttons responding. The issue will sometimes resolve itself, but more often than not i enter a cycle of wait, close, re-open, wait, close, re-open, and then shutting off and turning on my ipad again in desperation. However, none of these things seem to actually fix the problem. From what i can tell, the program will simply open back up whenever it “feels” like it, which is extremely frustrating when i need to work on something! I am unsure if i caused this somehow, but seeing as i only have five pieces on the app total, i doubt it. I LOVE THE APP, BUT PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!

Better than Procreate. Better than Procreate in every way. Blending is amazing. Pen smoothing doesn't feel like you're drawing with a rubberband and when you turn off smoothing it doesn't feel like a jack hammer. The default brushes are amazing. The brush engine isn't stupidly complicated. It has adjustment layers! My main complaint is that the gradient tool and panels need to be redesigned. It's quite difficult to use when creating and designing gradients. It's also not intuitive on how to add and delete gradients or gradient groups. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but it's definitely a weak point I've noticed after using the Artstudio the last few months. Another thing. Developers, please add a LAB color wheel! Sliders are great and all but a color wheel in addition would be amazing. ❤️ Last thing. Procreate a has a selection rotation feature on their rectangle selection tool. This is very handy for transforming things that need to be lengthened or widened but are already drawn at an angle. I definitely recommend this app. I'm trying to get all my friends to download it.

Underrated and Amazing. So...I’m a digital artist, and have been at this for a very long time. I was very used to photoshop and was good with their software until they added their subscription based model, which I whole heartedly do not support. When I got an iPad, I enjoyed procreate, but it was missing a lot of features I felt were essential for what I do, which is draw and write comics (having no text tool was NOT an option). A good friend recommended Art Studio Pro to me, and for the past year and a half, this is virtually the only software I have used to create my comic pages and other art. It has nearly every feature one could need, and has compatibility to add resources from photoshop like brushes, textures, and more. The one thing that I wish it had was a pen-tool or path-tool equivalent, and that’s the only thing that keeps me holding onto my old copy of PS CS5. Overall, I highly recommend this app to anyone drawing on an iPad. The price and the experience cannot be beat. There is also a desktop version that works pretty well. Don’t waste your money on the subscription based photoshop app for iPad. Invest in this instead.

Art Studio is Fabulous. I am a photographer and a surface /media graphic designer of nature and tropical designs. Artstudio is so useful and fun I literally have to set timers to remind me to take a break and take care of the other non creative jobs in my life. For anything creative I am always on the my large iPad Pro using art studio. I have hundreds of designs in process saved in the cloud that I can work on literally anywhere with complete freedom of just needing my iPad. Not a moment of time devoted to creative thought is ever wasted or lost. And all my designs can be used or printed on so many different media and surface products in very large sizes. I will always be trying to max out the total pixel size of my designs with multiple layers and bumping into the iPad Artstudio processor size limits. This is the one area that I hope to see IPad or Artstudio expand. My Society6 surface designs need really huge pixel files to print on large surfaces. And all photographers are discovering they need to combine 4 photos to get the required pixel size for extremely large print jobs on Society6. Even the best camera cannot create the pixel sizes required for large surface printing. I love Artstudio. I know if the raster graphic technology is available they will have it first and be the easiest to use. Thank you LuckyClan.

Trying to figure out what’s the deference?!. Trying to figure out what the difference is between Art Studio and Art Studio Pro besides the hefty price tag for Pro and the other one being completely free! So far both apps seem to be exactly the same for the most part. I actually like the way plain old Art Studio operates a lot better, it feels a bit more user friendly and is a lot less confusing for me then this one I just paid for. Still kinda trying to figure out why I paid 12 bucks for something I was already using for free! Am I missing something... and if so what is it!? It’s a great app don’t get me wrong. I just don’t understand why one is free and one isn’t. I am still hopeful that some feature that I am unaware of will find its way to me while using this app sometime in the near future and all will become clear, and I’ll have a huge aha moment and I’ll know then just what these new and exciting features are. But till then I would have to recommend that anybody that is interested in the Art Studio Pro app just stick with plain old Art Studio.

Great app needs a few minor things to make it close to perfect.... Im really enjoying this app...comming from years of csp/manga studio...im super picky about art apps this one has grown on me... Though i do have a few suggestions...i use a fair amount of masking in my art and would like to see layers and folders have their own masks rather than each mask showing up as a new layer type this makes masking a chore when scrolling through a bunch of layers to find what mask goes to what...it would be much easier to see a small thumbnail next to the thumbnail of a particular a particular layer to select to make non destructive changes...and adding this to a folder layer would be great to make masking for multiple layers at once easy im sure it can be done but with working with lots of layers the approach is anything but simple... Like most apps pen stabilization needs more focus to really get them inking line brushes to feel buttery smooth and flow nicely...i was never a fan of the lazy nezumi approach to line smoothing csp and medibang seem to have really good and simple pen stabilization...and that gives them the edge on line work...but over all this definately a gem of an art program...

Needs some work. To start off, let me say that I LOVE ArtStudio and Luckyclan. The original ArtStudio has allowed me to create my best visual art since I was in eighth grade, up until now— I’m in 11th grade. This is a very sleek app, and clearly a lot of thought has gone into its development as well as time and energy. However, it is very tiring and almost frustrating to use it from what I have seen so far, with a lot of features it doesn’t need and a lot of unnecessary steps to do things a single command would do. It seems TOO responsive and very sensitive at times, especially to rotation and zooming, and the transform option is not very responsive. The UI and the way the brushes functioned in the old app, as well as the delay/lack thereof on certain things in the old app was what made it attractive to me as a learning artist, and it still is! The complication of the new app is what makes it so hard to use, as for a person like me, a user-friendly setup is COMPLETELY required. Its interface is nice, however it is NOT user friendly. Too complicated with too many hidden features, and it’s so... I don’t know, flat? Like. It’s not fun to use due to the look of it. I however am staying positive and looking forward to future updates and will continue to try to learn the app. I’m not giving up just yet! But my main art app for now— as art is how I make money— will have to be ArtStudio for iPad. Thank you!

Better than Procreate. As a Procreate user for 1 year I decided to try out Artstudio Pro and am loving it. It has all the missing features I miss in Procreate. I use Clip Studio a lot on my MacOS, but find the iPad version to need some work on their UI, even though you can customize it, it needs some work. Artstudio Pro is the perfect solution for me. The UI is great and simple on the ipad, while still allowing all the advanced tools I use on the desktop. If you just dabble with art and plan to just doodle then Procreate is a good option for you since the UI isn’t very customizable and that can make it simpler for beginners. But if you hope to ever go beyond that then I highly recommend Artstudio Pro.

Triangle color wheel please!. Coming from desktop clip studio pro, ASP has had pretty much every feature I could need with a customizable and minimalist interface that works extremely well on the iPad. I really thought it basically had it all until I read a book on color theory which convinced me I need to switch to a triangle color picker from my usual square color picker. I was disappointed to see that of all the customization options available to me for the color wheel, switching to a triangle wasn’t an option! I was really hoping to try it because I think it’ll help me keep my values in check. Fingers crossed it gets added eventually!

The absence of documentation is notable. Though a powerful tool, the absence of documentation regarding how to use it is notable. Art StudioPro is similar to early versions of Microsoft software where one had to “turn over every stone” to find essential tools and functions. Instead of simplifying the steps and reducing the number of key clicks needed to achieve routine functions, ArtStudioPro requires that you memorize chains of seemingly unrelated key clicks under various menus to achieve these functions. None of the steps are intuitive in sequence or in grouping under menus. Worse, there is no place to go, where the steps for any given function is documented in a clear and useful manner. I understand that if you are an experienced photoshop user then this software will seem familiar. However, if you do not have a photoshop background, then look elsewhere (eg Procreate) as this is a most counterintuitive experience that will result in frustration and lost time.

Where is the manual?. Your not understanding what I’m trying to do. I don’t want incremental turned when I’m applying a burn or dodge to my drawings. I set the strength/percentage and burn the entire drawing, as long as I don’t lift my stylus from the tablet surface it only burns the set percentage. I need this to operate like the Artstudio for IPad version. With the old version I could turn off incremental burning & dodging. As long as I didn’t lift my stylus from the tablet surface the burn / dodge percentage would not change. The pro version just compounds the burn/dodge as you pass over the area. For example I want to set the burn to a specific percentage (say 40%), and pass over my entire drawing possibly multiple times to ensure I get the entire drawing without incrementing the burn on multiple passes. Is this possible in Artstudio Pro? If not I’ll have to stick with the old Artstudio for IPad. I like a lot of the changes made in the Pro version, but if incremental burning and dodging can’t be toggled on & off I can’t recommend Art Studio Pro. Still one star.

I expected more, Not another procreate wannabe. I bought this app in hopes of having an app that has more desktop art software functionality, decent and good brush engine and tools that can blend properly like pain tool sai or Clip studios level of functionality. But instead I found another app desperately trying to be another procreate and I don’t want another procreate and a lot of other artists who came to this app hoping to find something more like PS,Sai or CLIP or krita . I don’t know when I’m going to find app that has proper blending tools and isn’t trying to copy Procreate’s worst flaw, their “blending tools.” I’m hoping that the developers would consider my advice and find their own identity as an app on par with the most on demand desktop apps than another procreate. a better UI and Interface that can access tools without having to tap and tap and ruin the work flow, and finally rid of the smudge blending trend that serves little to no one.

uM??!!!!? WOW!?. So, before i bought this, i was on the fence to buy this app or not because i already bought procreate, and tried other drawing apps (such as medibang, csp and a couple more) and I liked procreate best. HOWEVER— I found out this app through a twitter post a weekish ago. Art Studio Pro supports kyle webster + your custom photoshop brushes, elastify/liquify, CROPS, has screen recording (duh), unlimited layers, the ability to change the image + canvas size AFTER you created the file, and it has CLIPPING MASKS. These are only some of the features I mentioned, but Art Studio Pro is far, far ahead of procreate in terms of customizing and editing... It is a smaller version of photoshop, and it is freaking AMAZING. Procreate? Well, let’s just say procreate is “dead” to me now... All I use is Art Studio Pro, and it’s really all you need...and it’s only a couple more $$?! Like dang....... I’ve also been telling/yelling everyone to try out this app on instagram, (If you want to see some of my work done on ASP, i’m soyeyoh on insta) because although it’s not advertised as well as procreate, its functions, I think are superior than procreate...again, IMO. Anyways, thank you art studio pro... you’re doing god’s work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Very good tool. I use Artstudio Pro almost daily. So much to it, yet easy to learn and grow into. Ideal for the digital artist!

Omg!!!. I love this app its awesome!!!! I like free styling and painting pictures. Whoever made this is so creative!!! I luv this app!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Need support and artist to help. The Instagram page of lucky clan is hopeless and the reels are from 2020, I couldn’t find tutorials or classes searching in Google or anything, or I’m wrong?

Can’t save!!! Unless you pay!!!!???. Spent over two hours playing around and enjoying the drawing that I was doing until I closed the app only to return to find that what I had drawn was deleted. Just pure greed from yet another developer :/ Pro create is a much better purchase due to the fact that it is a one time purchase of $20, and a much better platform in general.

Art studio prayer. Halps the truth be simple in pictogram relartive to visual spectra caunsidered as each view unique,as is each drop of LIFELOVE born to live life as a function of love thru colour of eMotion the color of thy hearthbreath shines clearer, thanx, thee have halped many maelders, enjoy life,a useful function of computers,to halp care about each other more n more,Michael

Pixelated drawing tools a real bummer. Sorry, I really wanted to like this app, all the rave reviews led me to believe it was great. It certainly has the features of a fully fledged photoshop type application. But I’m so disappointed with the drawing and painting tools. They are really quite pixelated in appearance and I’m not sure how anyone would be able to do a decent picture with them. I use a lot of drawing and painting apps and none of them have this issue. I’ll be returning it for a refund, sorry to say

You lose all your progress. This is an amazing app for drawing and has heaps of different brushes and features to use and i would rate this 5 star but the sad thing is you have to pay for a PRO membership to save you work so if you finish your work and leave to do something else when you come back all you effort has turned into a blank document

Why does motion blur lag on iPad Pro 10.5 it didn’t happen before. Why does motion blur lag on iPad Pro 10.5 it didn’t happen before

Impressive, versatile, reliable. Very clean, professional, practical UI Reliable, extremely rare crashes Dark Mode theme is very appreciated Organised layout, Easy to look at Essential tools & Filters However, more tweaks could and should already be utilised; namely customising the tool bar, there's large white space that would be brilliantly used as a space for one or two more tools, e.g the total tool bar could have: Select, Move, Brush, Eraser, Text, Layers, Colour. With the current white space that's unnecessary and frustrating, there's no reason why at least one tool have a button there for access instead of the fiddly quick menu. The app falls short as it's time consuming and irritating to cycle through the most common used tools with the limited menu bar, unable to have the permanent access and resorting instead to constantly swapping the existing buttons to switch back and forth between tools.

Best app next to Photoshop. The developers of Artstudio Pro have done a great job with this app. I feel like I’ve jumped into Photoshop on the iPad with all my favourite brushes and without paying the stupid subscription. This is app is solid, I’ve pushed it hard without any crashes. What I like mostly about using ASP is the developers are always working to make it better. Save your money and buy Artstudio Pro, you won’t regret it just as I didn’t.

Great app. While pricey this is a great app wether your a professional or just getting started. And like so many have already said its the next best thing to a pocket sized photoshop. My only gripe is while doing bulk colouring or sketch line cleanup, moving my hand along the screen while using my stylus seems to trigger the undo function without hitting the button. And ill have to start again as the redo function wont recover it. Is there some function or setting I'm missing that will restrict the undo function to the undo button alone?

Bad. You can’t even save what you have made

Blows Procreate to shreds.. This app is superior to Procreate on every single metric, except for the round colour (harmony) picker. It actually has a wet mix engine that works wonders like SAI and Clip Studio. Procreate’s brush engine is a really terrible knockoff of Photoshop. I have never seen the limited paint feature anywhere else apart from Corel painter,

Very Powerful Artist tool. Artstudio Pro is awesome, has so many features and an amazing brush engine.Just gets better and better, well done!

Slooow. Painting is faster now. But transform, selection, move etc. are slow and buggy. I really want to use this program; so I hope you fix it soon....

Fantastic app,I love it and there is no cleanup when finished. Wonderful Wayne

Love. Feels so much better compared to other drawing applications I’ve tried. I don’t know if it can be done, but I’d love if there was a way to import Clip Paint brushes or SAI brush settings without having to recreate the brush from scratch.

So well thought out. Just a great drawing and painting with a great balance of features and usability which allows me to smash out illustrations quickly for commercial purposes, and have fun creatively when not working to deadlines. Would love to see the transform features on the toolbar instead of several taps away in the menu structure

Great Program. No it’s not photoshop, but it is a good everyday program with good features not available elsewhere on the iPad. Layers and extensive tools to name two. Well worth the money.

Great app for my use. I use the app daily and find it very useful for my needs. I had a few issues with it crashing but the issue has been resolved. Money well spent.

Great App. Better than procreate in many ways, fantastic mix engine. They do need to improve things like the auto shapes could allow for multiple anchor point editing without needing to do a seperate select and transform, like procreate does but in general it’s a better application. Please work on allowing multiple anchor points to edit selection lines and shapes. Then just focus on performance and stability further. I would also strongly suggest reviewing your onetime pricing, in AUD it’s around $55 vs procreate being $20, that’s a massive difference that will turn many people off your application before they even get to see how great it is. Please consider bringing the onetime charge down to around $25 AUD so you can compete with procreate as this should be the number 1 iPad drawing application.

Fantastic!. I’m using Artstudio Pro everyday for illustration work. It works like a dream since the upgrade in early 2018. I particularly like the interface which allows one to have brushes and colors at your fingertips as opposed to opening and closing menus. It also has text and crop tools and everything else you’d expect from an art app. Five stars!

Really good. I love it I was on adobe fresco they had non of the brushes like hairs brushes on there love this app

Amazing App!. Computer quality image editing on your favorite and more convenient devices!. Just needs more ways to import files such as .gif .apng and MOST IMPORTANTLY .mmg files. Cant wait for this app to keep growing and upgrading.

Artstudio Pro. Not sure what I bought

Outstanding high quality app. It’s obvious that a lot of time and effort have gone into this app. Every facet makes it an exceptional experience, from subtle stroke textures to layering to editing to selecting to cloning to effects and so much more! Couldn’t recommend it more highly - well done!!

Photoshop on the iPad, except with poorer than desired user experience. Palm rejection is somewhat poor, since accidental undos are alarmingly frequent. Side buttons seem somewhat unresponsive and I can’t seem to rename my brushes for some whatever reason. File explorer is also clunky and outdated, since it relies on an edit button instead of also allowing drag and drop functionality, like Procreate. Other than that performance is good and most essential Photoshop features are present. This would be a perfect Photoshop substitute on iPad if it weren’t for the crippling issues I described above.

Disappointed, certain features are lost. I used ArtStudio often and enjoy certain features it has over other apps. One being able to control the lead in / lead out function, with finger or normal stylus pen. Now this option is gone. The opacity option preference takes two three steps to get to, when turned on as the preferred visual option, it gets reset every time I switch brushes on the iPad. Also, the redo option takes extra steps to pull up and execute. There are perhaps other features improved but these ones seems to have taken back steps. I have emailed support for clues on these issues but I have not heard from them. This is more than 3 weeks now. Disappointing for a great former app. I think if the support was to be more responsive it would have been better.

Great. Excellent as an alternative to photoshop for the iPad Pro. I will be using it every day. Will have to get used to not using keyboard shortcuts, I use mainly for collaging and editing different photos together, would be good to have a shortcuts bar or something, but all in all it is perfect for what I need it for.

Essential to Every Digital Artist. I’ve been using Art studio on the iPad for a while now, it’s the closest to Photoshop when it comes to features, tools, and layer management. It’s very cohesive and user friendly made to fit tablet manoeuvres. Carrying a pocket sketchbook at all times led me to check out the mobile version, and have I ever been more delighted. The ability to visualize and sketch an idea, on the spot, with all the digital tools this app has to offer, all in your pocket only a gesture away.

The new v3. Very good over all except for a bug that won’t let me start a line in the first 1/5 of the right side, it is very disruptive.

Awesome app. Amazing app for learning and playing on digital images. Thanks!

Im very impressed. Very versatile for both graphic designers and digital painters. One of the best painting apps on the app store!

Best art app. Completly replaced Photoshop for me.

Is The best apps EVER (I’m not a bot). I so like is so good to make a photo shop

Text tool bugs. Selecting text: Each time I need to make an adjustment to the text like changing the size or font, I have to manually highlight the text before doing so. Otherwise, nothing will happen. A bit annoying having to do this every time but hopefully this gets fixed. Text size slider: Moving the size slider to 0 resets the font to default. Again, having to highlight the text and picking the font I originally wanted. Over all, this is a really good art program but there’s some bugs that need fixing. 👍

Way better than Procreate when it comes to doing more precise work. More like Photoshop and mirrors that workflow better for production art use! I like being able to move UI elements around to suit my working needs. Great

Amazing. Simply amazing. The stuff you can do with this it is just incredible

Really amazing art app!!!. When ArtStudio Pro first came out I was a bit underwhelmed. I felt like I had waited a long time for what turned out to be an app that didn’t seem much different than the original ArtStudio (which I loved). But I was wrong. ArtStudio Pro is really impressive and far better than the original. It has a great brush engine, multiple layouts to suit different users, and a slew of tools and capabilities to pretty much cover whatever your raster or photo based needs are. And to top it all off the developers really seem motivated to make this app better and better. The number of updates that they keep rolling out is fantastic. I Think every iPad artist should get this app.

Photo editing. I think a small tutorial would help a lot. For some reason resizing images when there is more then one is frustrating and I have not figured it out yet, every time I try it just resizes everything.

Not to my liking.. Before I begin, i know this sounds horribly selfish but, it’s very difficult to get a smooth line and where to find things. I was expecting a ‘clipping group’ but instead got a mask that I have no idea how to use, would very appreciate a tutorial. The bucket tool does not work very well and it is very overwhelming.

Awesome and will be better!. This is a very good app for many reasons such as the brushes are great and much more and the app will be getting even better! I have made suggestions to the developer and he was very responsive!

Disk Space vs SSD Space. Since we are running apps on iPads and iPhones I believe disk space is out of date and we should use a different moniker.

Outstanding in so many ways. Worth every penny! This app has, in my opinion, the very best brush engine in the app store. Despite other apps’ popularity, I personally feel that this app gives me the closest experience to painting with photoshop on a Wacom...the brushes work and feel great. The ui, though looking slightly dated, is extremely functional and fluid to use. Bravo, this app is pure gold

The best. Gréât UI, Great UX... What more could I ask?

Professional illustration | photo app for a very low cost. I do comic book illustration and concept art on this app and let me tell you it is straight fire. I use it for drawing, painting and photo bashing from 3D renders. This app is what’s closest to PS on the iPad. I tested many apps and ArtStudio Pro is the one that offers the most freedom in terms of technical limitations such as number of layers or canvas size. I think people will start to realize how cheap this app is for all the features it offers.

good app, but please add more finger support!. i personally draw with my finger a lot, it would be nice if we could have some features meant for fingers specifically! (such as pressure for fingers (faster stroke, thicker / thinner like than a slower stroke)) but great app overall, i can’t wait to try it with my adonit pixel!

Seems kinda awesome. It’s like getting Procreate and Photoshop 3 all in one. Works well with the Apple Pencil too.

Excellent app!. User friendly and very powerful!

Just perfect. Unless you’re a complete moron, the interface is very easy to get used to. It has many more (and better) features than procreate which is just what I needed considering how limited I felt using that app for several years. Best purchase I’ve made since then.

Hmmm. Will update as I play with the program more, Good brushes so far I l Iike them! Took some time to find them lmaooo,

I Love this app!. As an illustrator and logo designer Artstudio Pro is my go to for digital sketching and concepting. There is a lot more under the hood then other similar drawing apps and it knows when to get out of the way and when to flex it’s muscles. The smooth and buttery painting tools are the best I’ve tried. I highly recommend.

I Love this app. It’s an incredible drawing and painting app

Amazing and no one is talking about it.. This is by FAR my favourite drawing app on iPad. It is so close to photoshop its crazy, the UI is clean and touch friendly while also giving a desktop class experience, amazing brush set, great software and customisability. I would recommend a feature to be able to save layouts as I’ve moved my UI around a bit and would like to save that layout for every time I open the app (super nitpicked as this app is amazing.) Great work devs! Absolutely worth the $50 one time fee. I will be using this for a very long time

Professional tool. Much better than procreate. Deserves much more attention, especially if you are used to Photoshop in your workflow. I’ve been searching for such an app after trying extensively Procreate, which felt very short on my expectations. I’m a professional illustrator, I don’t want a cool app with a slick look, I want something that is actually doing what I intend it to do. Artstudio pro is exactly what I wanted. Far more professional, it really can be used in a workflow with Photoshop, and back and forth. No dam automatic crop outside of frame as in Procreate if you move your layer around; no number limit of layers (thank you, but I want to decide how much I need); brush imported from PS are the same here, not a random result; menus are similar than on a computer, which permit you to handle your files the same way as if you were on your computer; you can export your work as a PSD, with all your layers; you can open PS document without problem too, etc. As you can see, I’m more than pleased, this is now my “go to” and this app make my whole “iPad experience” very different. The only downside I can see is that it can get a bit slow for some background manipulations, like changing layers, saving, etc… if you run very big drawings (I work on 12” x 18” canvas at 600ppp) but this is the limit of the iPad, not the app. It is a very powerful app. If you run 300ppp canvas, it is as fast and smooth as it can be. Beautiful work here. Thanks to the team.

Hands down favorite!. This is my go to digital art app on my iPhone, as well as one of my favorite apps overall. It's got so much functionality and the developer just keeps adding more, constantly improving it, and often with major additions to its already impressive list of abilities. The fact I don't have to pay for an ongoing subscription is also something I appreciate, very much. This app is simply an amazing app. It has all the tools you need, ones you'd find in robust computer software [i.e. Photoshop]. It's also been in constant development since I first started using it many years ago. That includes excellent support from the developer. I really can't say enough good things about the Artstudio Pro app. Whatever you need, it probably has. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say, I love it! I highly recommend it to anyone considering trying it.

Hard to figure out. Seems like it has a lot of tools, Unfortunately none are easy to understand. You need a course before getting this app

Love it. Suggestion: Please add a way to transform objects with your finger when finger drawing is disabled

I love this app. This app is fantastic. It is certainly better than what I am capable of drawing, but everything I need is there. The tutorials are great too.

ASP is like photoshop for ipad!. nothing but praise for this app and even in its interface that looks familiar to photoshop. Please add a warp tool in transform, as well as detailed warp please

Best quality app, hard to use. This app is very high quality. Brushes, color mixing, resizing, filters. All are way better than other apps. The problem I have is that I usually round up using Procreate because it is easy and fun with all the gestures. Art studio, I find myself looking over the internet to find out how to increase or decrease the magic wand’s sensitivity. I spend too much time in the menus. If only it was more intuitive and easy to use or at least had more ‘how to’ videos. Plus the app crashes if a file demands too much which does not happen in Procreate because they restrict your file options from the get-got.

能不能加对称线. 能不能加对称线啊

ArtStudio Pro is better than ever!. ArtStudio Pro is, in my opinion, the superior art app for the iPad! I came from digital painting in Photoshop to using the iPad as my primary digital art tool, and ArtStudio Pro is practically a replica of Photoshop. I don’t find myself missing Photoshop at all and transitioning to ArtStudio Pro is practically seamless. You won’t be disappointed with this App!

WTH???. I already paid the full price for this app. What is going on? It’s a great app, for sure, but either you do your subscription model or sell it for a full price. Transfer people who already paid for the app to a lifetime model at least. That they ALREADY PAID FOR!

Yes just do. Hi not to me mean but this should have pencil it’s great though 🥳🤩.

better than procreate. Definitely better than procreate , more professional it’s real iPad version of photoshop

This app is amazing. I used to use Adobe Photoshop on my MacBook, but no longer have a computer, so use ArtStudio Pro on an IPad Pro. It is fab, I have made detailed sketches to paint from, edited photos (repairs, distortions and colour correction, etc.), created documents with pictures - that have been converted to PDF, and am gonna try to create an animation. It’s so versatile. I think you can even put this on a MacBook, if so, Photoshop is history! The things that I see that could be improved: * A better distortion tool; the fonts are quite minimal. * The filters could be more extensive. * I think that there should be a bin that you have so many days to retrieve from, because - mistakes! It really gives Photoshop a run for its money, literally!

Wow... I’m sorry Procreate can go kiss my..... Um I have been lamenting how annoying Procreate can be and why it’s gotten so much loved when it cant get a simple thing like adjustments layers right. Then I discovered this gem. HOW IN THE NAME OF ALL ART IS THIS APP SO IGNORED. this app BLOWS PROCREATE OUT OF THE WATER. Amazing on so many levels. Now if you can get warp effects and animation integrated this will be the greatest app in the universe! Thank you so much for this!

Because of .... Because of the decision to move to a subscription-based payment system, and this is an app that I had already PAID for, I WILL NEVER update with this version or subsequent versions. I WILL NOT be nickel-and-dimed for functionality that I already PAID FOR. Worse comes to worse, this app will be deleted and that will be that. M.

Smashes Procreate in functionality, but it not usability.. Really liking the app so far. Im a long time photoshop User and New-ish Procreate user. I’m going to make some suggestions that would improve it considerably. Group masks A pretty clutch photoshop feature missing Colour wheel with gamut masking Elegant way and to me superior way of picking colours for painters Swipe to select layers A feature in Procreate that really saves a lot of time This is what’s on my mind at the moment. I’ll update it if I think of more. Keep up the good work and please heavily consider these suggestions.

Incredible!. I've used Adobe fresco for months now and before that procreate and Artstudio pro blows them out of the water. It has everything. The wet brushes feel amazing, and the program runs so smooth! I'm very happy with this purchase!

Love lt. Llove the app

The Best App. This is the best app, what can I say? I’ve used Art Studio ever since it first came out, and much prefer it to any other digital drawing apps. I call it my Photoshop away from Photoshop, but in so many respects it’s even better! Five stars easy.

Used to be so good. Before the updates that made this app mirror many functionalities of procreate, the app was one of my favourites and I’d been using it ever since it was released. After though, it’s become a challenge to use. It may just be because I’m an old user, but I find the app very disorienting and hard to use now, no matter how long and hard I try to get used to it. The brushes not being on the side anymore is frustrating, and makes swift functionality difficult. With everything on top with only specific tools available at a time, its a challenge for someone who uses a lot of them. The colour system isn’t my favourite in the world either, but it’s manageable. I really only enjoy the brushes now. They’re fun to use and I always kinda preferred them when it came to not having pressure sensitivity.

Editing disabled. This app has been completely unusable for the last month. Any time you try to make even the slightest of edits (with documents that are normal sized and only a couple of layers), the whole think freezes up and says “editing disabled” for minutes at a time. It is incredibly frustrating, a waste of time, and a waste of money. You’d be better off using the original Art Studio - despite the many actions that cause it to crash, at least it never seized up like this one.

Fantastic Digital Art App. I’m a Photoshop user on windows, so I’m more accustomed to having menus, many shortcuts, and controls. I really do like Procreate but this app is the closest I’ve come to a photoshop equivalent. The way the brushes feel and how they draw is spectacular. It is super easy to import photoshop brushes or project files. It also has some perks over photoshop like being able to draw a straight line by drawing a stroke and holding it in place to make the stroke smoothly angular or curved. I would highly recommend this to any artists, especially if you’re coming from Photoshop

Amazing. 👍

Can I revert to an old version?. I don’t know when it happened, but I recently updated this program (manually), and its pretty much unusable. I had pencil mode on with finger set to colour pick. So when I touch the screen, it would only colour pick. That no longer works. If I’m in select mode of any sort, it will do selections or If I’m transforming, it will change scale/rotate. So trying to zoom in or out, there’s a 50/50 chance it will zoom out, or do the above. It lags between switching tools. Sometimes it just won’t switch, as if it didn’t register. If I’m trying to move something and I’m not moving it much, it snaps back to its original position and asks me what layer I want to be on. Grouping all tools into an “other” slows down the process. Not having the selection tool lasso and a move tool available without having to do any extra taps and searching for them is super inefficient. Here’s a hint, no one uses the rectangular selection tool. It doesn’t need to be in a place that’s easily accessible. This went from a good pc type art program ui to bad procreate clone. Since I updated this, I’ve started using procreate again. The only thing this program does better than procreate now is that it has rulers. If there is a way to revert to an old version, I’d change my rating back to a five, but as it is, I’m just going to use procreate.

Apple Pencil. The app. Is great once you get the hang of it. The pencil pressure one has to set up oneself. I didn’t know at start. But, was so informed. Now works great.

Pricing games need to end!. The “FREE” version is useless. So it’s not an appropriate response to asking why they have more than doubled their pricing for a lifetime license! And an alternate subscription program? All while the desktop version costs half the price of the iPad version? What a convoluted mess! And here I was considering switching from Procreate. Looks like I missed the sanely priced version by a few weeks. Too bad, here’s one guy you won’t get ANY money from because of these games you’re playing, despite having what appears to be a superior product. In short, the programmers look to be doing a great job. But everyone that thought changing the business model like this needs to be fired.

Pretty good update, but needs A LOT of polish.. I’ve been using the original Art Studio for I found the new setup incredibly hard to get used to. It seemed a lot more Photoshop-Gimmicky, and less user-friendly. Also, I found the new layer filters to be confusing and complicated. Filters I had grown used to and loved in the original ArtStudio were almost completely eliminated. It was also harder to find effects for brushes like increment brushing, hard edges (or just pixel art brush) and stuff like that which were blatantly obvious before. While some features like transferring brushes and multiple different file formats is very very nice, but it’s much harder to customize brushes effectively. Also, the screen recording aspect was what really sold me on the new program, but honestly, it’s super low-quality and VERY disappointing. If it gets a brand new radical update that fixes everything I’ve talked about, then I would probably switch to it, but for now, I’m sticking with the original Art Studio. Like I said, not half bad for a brand new art app, but could use a lot of work. P.S. just a tiny gripe: copying a selection, keeping the selection selected and then pasting doesn’t put it right back where it was. That was pretty annoying.

It’s everything that I want it to be! Except one minor detail. I’ve longed for Art Studio’s versatile success to be pushed to the next level and this one definitely made that cut. With the split view, the iCloud connection and easier and more direct copy and pasting from safari and photos really made me see this old-turned-new app in a whole new light. But I think that one more alteration would make this even greater. I’d like to point out that Maybe it would be better if...... The drag and drop feature will be used solely to drag images into the Art Studio file not as a new image, but as a layer instead. Or at least mabye an available option to change the effects of the drag and drop feature to choose either (paste as layer) or (paste as new image) I think that would be the icing on the cake that this app needs ^^

Simple yet robust. I really enjoy this app. It’s very way to use, but can do pretty much anything photoshop can but with an easier interface (In my opinion). I have been using since before they released the pro version. The ONLY major downside is the text editing function is terrible! It used to be easy to use but it is so cumbersome to make font and size and color adjustments. Really just selecting text and adjusting in general has become a BiG pain.

Really Promising. I really like this app and I could see it becoming a go-to on the iPad. It’s just missing a few important things in my opinion. - The first thing is likely a bug, but I noticed that the offset between where the Apple Pencil is placed and where the mark is made seems much more noticeable in this app compared to others. This occurs even with no cursor offset turned on and is particularly apparent when using a brush with a tilt dynamic, such as a pencil brush. This doesn’t occur in Procreate or CSP for example. - Customization. This app would be amazing if it gave users a bit more control over the interface. Having to menu dig to deselect or transform for instance is cumbersome. It would be nice to be able to position little buttons for our most used actions and tools in the toolbar, at least in full screen mode where you have no access to the menu bar. Also, this doesn’t affect functionality but it would be nice to have a black interface option. - Gestures. This goes back to customization. I could not find anywhere the options to customize touch controls. It would be nice to use a finger to erase for example.

Am I doing something wrong?. I’m a digital artist (not professionally, obviously), and I’ve both used and recommended the original ArtStudio for a very long time. I recently bought the upgrade, and I feel like it’s mostly worth the price. Like seriously, you can do the same things with this app as you can with a basic knowledge of Photoshop. However, I am confused about the brushes. They’re very pixelated for me, no matter what brush I use. I draw mostly cartoons, so clean, flowing lineart is crucial for me. It’s pretty safe to say that I’m sort of disappointed. :( I tried resizing the canvas, but the brush stays pixelated. So, am I doing something wrong?

Easy to use! High quality results. This App lives up to its name. The tools are smooth and non-glitchy. The control you have over your work is impeccable. It comes with many different ways to mix your colors and has several included brushes that are necessary for beautiful art development. The only thing I would say I didn’t like was it was difficult to find how to create a basic no-frills pen line. You have to find it in settings under the wet brush. But once you get used to this, the rest is a breeze! It has an intuitive interface and I enjoy using it.

This app is one of the best if not the best for drawing and painting. I first would like to say that this app is soooo good and is my go to app for work. I am a working artist and I feel this app really doesn’t get the love it deserves. The brush engine is amazing and the devs aren’t afraid to add features that work from other apps. Very smart. You can tell the devs really care and are probably artists themselves. The only thing this app is missing for me is radial symmetry but it’s not deal breaker. Good job! Can’t wait to see how this app further evolves.

A newer app, worse than the previous app... So I waited Luckyclan "the devs" of Artstudio to releases an update on the previous version of this app for 4 years, which then they finally blessed us with an update that advertises and takes us us to this brad new shiny app which costs double the price of the previous app. Anyways, I've been practicing this app since the day of release and it has several major issues. The main major problem is it's hard to use it relatively to the previous app. There are many complicated options to adjust your custom brushes, the snap option is an utter garbage feature when you try to drag/ resize selected objects, there is no move+scale+rotate option anymore in the transform option. So many other simple tasks cannot be done easily, which to be honest make this look like a worse version of autodesk drawing app. So disappointing..

Great app worth the price. I was a user of the original ArtStudio. Great app for drawing, painting and quick photo manipulations on my iPhone which is primarily what I need it for and what procreate cannot do. It comes in when I need to doodle with some ideas concepts/thumbnails, practice gesture drawing on a long commute home on public transit, or start experimenting with some rendering on the fly without needing a session on my pro tablet. It’s not for professional work. The resolution and number layers are limited due to the hardware of your device. It’s great for really thinking through ideas and rendering them loosely. I highly recommend this app for your mobile device it is as powerful and robust as their more pricey and well known competitors.

UI mess - don’t upgrade!!. Prior to update I absolutely loved this app. Unfortunately the developer rearranged everything. Used to be a smooth transition from photoshop to this app. No longer. Would be nice if there were more warnings before an update this radical. I have many apps always updating and don’t read each app update notes prior to updating. Unfortunate. Much preferred prior model. I had the paid version of the original app... then they offered this radically changed pro version 2.0 as a new purchase... loved it so I purchased. Could use this original if I wanted but 2.0 was amazing. Wish they had offered this as a new paid purchase 3.0 in which case I would not have purchased and would still have the prior app UI I loved.

Great Painting App. While it may not have the elegance of other drawing apps,( and I’ve used them all it seems) I find I use Art Studio 90% of the time as my go to app. It incorporates many of the most useful elements I need from a desktop photo style app on the iPad. Some of the other apps in this category are overly complex for my tastes. Plus a big bonus is that there is no subscription with Art Studio and its toolset is competently complete including edge detection and a host of other useful features, filters and adjustments etc. A great all rounder and super useful app to have in your toolset.

The underground hype is real. So much art and photo editing apps I’ve purchased or get for free yet I was holding out on art studio the longest. I guess I was saving the best for last. I am really empress by this app, I find it better than photoshop for artist, not to mention the iPad version of Ps that now seem like a joke compare to art studio. Procreate was getting all the glory, well now art studio pro is my go to art app now. The app is fast. The brush engine is exactly what I wanted. There is a top of useful functions. The app crashes one time so far when I was applied a image adjustment effects😞

Surprisingly great. If you’re looking for a drawing app more like photoshop (even more so than adobe’s sketch app), that can utilize Kyle t Webster’s brushes (!!!), this is what you want. Also seems to have a developer that cares about keeping the app running smoothly as well as adding new features. It’s not as streamlined/easy-to-use as procreate (still my personal preference tbh), but if you’re frustrated by procreate’s (or other apps’) lack of specific features, or if you just need your Kyle brushes, this app is truly fantastic. Well worth the price

Good and getting even better!. I have used ArtStudio Pro for many years now. I love it for creating transparent backgrounds, for the artistic brushes, and for editing photos. However it seemed for many years that improvements were few and far between, until now! I am happy to see that it appears they are actively developing it again and have added lots of improvements in recent months. Well worth the money!

iPad Artists' New Best Friend. I am no artist, but I am completely astonished with how powerful this app is! I've been recently practicing some pixel art techniques and love the fact that you can alter the canvas size to accommodate pixel artists. I feel as if the only crucial function Artstudio Pro is lacking, is the ability to create animations. Additionally, an "Infinite Canvas" feature would be a grand touch; "Concepts" boasts about their infi-canvas, executing it exquisitely. Withal, this is an extremely impressive app. Any true artist would thoroughly enjoy tuning the burshs' parameters to acquire that perfect stroke, while utilizing the canvas' smooth rotation/scaling functionalities!

All You Need. This was my first drawing app on iPad and still among my favorites. I have the closest to Photoshop without paying an expensive subscription. You even can use your .abr brushes or create your own. The perfect balance for between drawing and edition. Runs smoothly, both on iPhone and iPad, and you can work between your devices without losing your progress. The developers keep working to make it better and you’ll see it by the constant updates to enhance the features (I notice your hard work, guys. Thank you!).

Closest I’ve found to GIMP or Photoshop.... ...for the iPhone, since Adobe discontinued PS Touch. It doesn’t dumb-down the interface to simply applying filters and cropping, but gives you full granular control over traditional filters, renders and adjustments. Well worth the price. Excellent brush engine, but I use more of the photo manipulation side. Until I can get an iPad Pro for Affinity Photo or full Procreate (not just Pocket), this will do quite nicely, and even then I suspect Artstudio Pro will still be a heavy contender. This under-rated app is really worth a look for both drawing and photo-manipulation.

From beast to beauty!. ***Updated opinion: now that the offline version seems to be fixed and functioning, this is a pro-level app which has the potential to dominate the portable digital drawing space. It very nearly has the capacity to be a virtual mobile replacement for Photoshop in context of an artists needs. Kudos to the developers for listening to and addressing the needs of their customers! It is very obviously an app built for artists by artists. The overall experience from brushes to layers to effects noses ahead respectively of what can be found in some of the art apps like Procreate, etc.

Mostly great, but persistent bugs. I am impressed with how elegant and smooth the design is. Basically photoshop if photoshop was designed more intuitively. And for so much cheaper than adobe! I think it’s a better app than Procreate which seems to be more popular. However, there is a consistent “Unable to Import Document” bug that once it starts is impossible to get working. It really messes with work flow. It seems to appear and go away at random but can last for days once it starts. This bug continues through out versions and OS updates and multiple conversations with he help team. More recently, a similar saving issue has started, I was told it would be fixed with an OS update but has persisted.

Incredible. Unlike soooooo many apps these days, Artstudio is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. I’ve been using it for so many years now that that’s INCREDIBLE value. And the developers are constantly updating and improving it. Tons and tons of features. It’s not always super intuitive if you’re coming from other art applications, but once you’ve used it for just a little while it makes sense. Thanks, Artstudio team!

Great App. I bought this app for a class I was taking. I initially figured I could just use Procreate which I’m more familiar with. Well what a great surprise. I started using Art Studio and I love it! I am not a big Photoshop user, but I do use Corel Painter. This app is somewhat like that. This app is very stable even with a large document at a high dpi and lots of layers and 50 undo’s. I love that I can import all the Photoshop brushes, gradients, patterns, etc. I’m definitely impressed. I like the new update and this is an app that will stay in my go-to tools.

Better than procreate. Listen, I’m an amateur artist. I use the iPad and physical media. But I’ve also used a computer before. This app isn’t as elegant as procreate but, despite being slightly more menu heavy, everything just works. The default brushes are good straightforward and menus are easy to navigate. I customized the UI and it just works great. Highly recommended for people like me who bounced off of procreate. Also, it supposedly uses imports PS brushes better than procreate. I haven’t felt the need to use the brush editor since the few packs I’ve used worked flawlessly.

Hi! I love this app, but have some thoughts…. Hi! I’ve been using this app for a while now, and I’ve come to review it in hopes for some features that I believe would benefit the program greatly. Firstly, it would be incredibly beneficial if the symmetry tool could simultaneously have horizontal and vertical options active. Another addition to this feature would be the option to transform the object and have the other side of the symmetrical split remain parallel. Secondly, the option to add tools and other menu options to gestures like the apple pencil double tap (i.e. favorites/bucket/transform) would be incredibly helpful to streamline the artistic process. I’ve enjoyed my usage of this app in the while I’ve been drawing with it, and I hope to see it continue to improve with its features and expand the number of users it has. Wonderful program!

Easy and Familiar. If you’re someone who learned how to do digital art on a PC or Mac, then you’ve probably bumped into a learning curve when trying some of the art programs available on the iPad. That is not case with Artstudio Pro. Having cut my teeth on Photoshop, I found I often had to read tutorials or watch how-to videos to learn how to use the other iPad-based programs available to digital artists. Not so with Artstudio Pro. Using this software was like bumping into an old friend and I was able to successfully utilize many of tools right out of the gate. Within two hours of purchase I had created my first finished piece of artwork without referencing a single video or tutorial.

Desperately needs a manual. This is by far my favorite drawing app— but I can’t figure out how to use half of the features because there is NO manual so minus one star. So frustrating to spend 30 minutes trying figure how to do something that could be explained in seconds with some documentation. I can’t think of a single other top level program without a manual. Short instructional videos on random topics does not cut it. Beyond this gripe however it’s a stellar app for anyone that has the time and patience to try and decode its user interface.

Photoshop on the go. I've been using this app for years now and I can't imagine using anything else. I paid for procreate just to try it out and came right back to Artstudio. It's definitely more like traditional drawing applications and feels very comfortable to use. I only have one issue- I use the hard edges option when drawing a lot and it's a little annoying that there's not a shortcut option to enable hard edges. Other than that, everything is amazing now that I've gotten used to the new update. I can't recommend this app enough, it's well worth your money!!!

Still claims I’m in free mode after lifetime purchase.. At $39.9 Artstudio pro does not meet my expectations for a professional art drawing software. I do appreciate the many PS like functionalities provided. However, it’s too unstable to use for more complicated drawings. I’ve experienced numerous glitches and crashes if I have to undo 10+ steps. It also complains every 2-3 days that I’m still in the free version even I have already paid for the lifetime purchase. All of these had caused me to lose progress on my drawings, which is really the worst experience you can get from a drawing software. And I could not get a refund because it’s illegible. In all, I do not recommend purchasing this software at $39.9. ( BTW I think it used to be $19.9.

ArtStudio Pro. I’ve been concentrating on learning this app recently. It is really excellent and very well thought out. There are many practical and useful tools for design work such as grids, guides, snap to, rulers and the means to create geometric shapes and add texture. Also there is a text tool that offers many fonts. The brushes and sketching tools are good and varied, very adjustable and it is possible to import more to personalize your brush selections. I’ve also really appreciated that it is possible to resize your canvas as you work in the event you want to adjust your composition or layout. It is very easy to unclutter your screen of the various “work pallets” and when you do, you still have access to the basic brush settings and undo-redo. There are so many excellent reasons to buy and use this app! I don’t feel limited or frustrated when I use ArtStudio Pro as I have with some other apps that don’t offer as many tools and options. I recommend it highly! Thank you to the developers for such an intelligent, flexible and user friendly app.

Question. Hullo Lucky clan, just wanted to say I like the app, it’s slightly hard to get behind the navigation of the UI for me though, I had a interesting question; I was talking to this fella who really likes Artstudio pro, and he told me that if there is an issue with the app I could tell the devs and there would be a fix out within the next few hours, he said the same for suggesting new features, that a beta would be out within the next few hours, it seemed a little too fast for me, so I was hoping for a confirmation or something? Thanks

Really enjoying this app waited to use awhile before reviewing. It’s nice to see an app continue to flourish. I also have Procreate and the earlier version of this app. I probably own all the art apps. So many developers make them, sell them and forget them. This program is worth every cent and then some. I’m going to keep drawing, painting and enjoying what comes. As far as I’m concerned this is right up there with the best art programs in the App Store. Very easy to use. They all take some time to learn. In my opinion the best way to learn is jump in there and do it. No complaints here only thumbs up! Thanks! Keep up the good work!

Mesmerized but my jaw hasn’t dropped.. This is an amazing app regardless of its little existing issues. But its missing very few things that i believe to be possible to reach perfection. First and foremost; GIF exporting. The ability to make gifs on this app is, in my opinion, one of the very few things this app is missing. Better support for pixels: as a pixel artist i’ve found that very randomly the app will sometimes corrupt the document that im working on, and it wouldnt bother anyone painting with this app, but it corrupts pixels as if they were turned from .png to .jpg. Its very annoying to jump onto the app and find that my pixel art has been corrupted. Thats the ONLY reason why i still use the classic version, because this issue has never happened to me there.

Comprehensive. I’ve been drawing on procreate for the last 2 years and honestly there are some things that are missing on procreate that caused me to jump to this app. The main kicker is the file organization. In Artstudio you can have several layers of files and organize huge projects all in this app. This way I can do everything in one app. In procreate you only have one level of folders, I haven’t been able to figure out how to create sub folders. I can’t separate out character designs, prop designs, set designs, and actual comic pages out in procreate, but in artstudio you can do that. I also haven’t figured out how to turn off anti-alias in procreate, which is almost a requirement for creating color scheme iterations when cel-shading. But in artstudio you can. It might be difficult to learn how to use artstudio at first, the brushes are a bit hard to navigate and you can’t transform selections as easily as in procreate, but after playing with it for a couple hours I find this app just as easy to use as procreate. This app can basically do everything, and I enjoy it a lot.

Awesome app with a few personal setbacks. Artstudio pro is one of the best drawing apps on iPad ever. It’s very versatile, has great features, and it’s very responsive. I wish they had a color wheel and put an option to put the brush size and opacity in painter mode on the right side of the screen. Also, I’m not the biggest fan of two finger panning so, if you guys could put the option of panning in the “finger function when pencil is connected” I would no longer have any nitpicks. Great job guys, I can’t wait to see what comes in future updates.

I love this app! Procreate has competition!. I am finding that I’m using this app as much if not more than Procreate. The flow of the tools seems better to me, at least it fits me much better than the way procreate has their tools laid out and even though they’re both customizable, I still seem to be leaning towards art studio pro as my main go to illustration app.I really hope that is development team stays together and continues with this application. It has the potential to take over the world. Yes I said it… The world!

A minor gripe. Generally the app takes a few steps forward and a few steps background from the old app, which are covered in other reviews. I can deal with those backward steps since the improvements are palpable, but there’s one I think nobody has mentioned yet, which is that canvas zooming/rotation is less responsive now. There is a slight delay between when my fingers move to zoom/rotate, and when the canvas actually zoom/rotates, leading to the app feeling a lot clunkier than it really is or should be. Contrast this to the old app, where the zooming/rotating was instantaneous. Maybe it’s caused by something on my end, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt?

Pretty awesome. Has a lot of the features of the desktop photoshop! But I will need to transfer image to a different app to draw a circle. Also in order to transform my image it took me out of the screen that had the ruler. It’s nice to adjust the size with the ruler visible. It would be nice to have a nudge function. There seems to be some snapping when I’m trying to do fine adjustments. These comments are aimed at the developers hopefully to fix or add. But this is one of the best art apps I’ve found. Most don’t have a ruler including the photoshop app. I hope they continue to improve!

I just don’t understand!. So, I’m a like 14 yrs old and I just got this app after begging my mom for it. Honestly I got this app so I can practice my digital drawing and I thought it looked amazing! But there is a HUGE flaw that I do not like that is keeping me so close to deleting this app. I just don’t understand why it cannot save my drawings that I have to keep in files?! It just seems horrible to me because I drawing an amazing masterpiece that I am proud of. But THE NEXT DAY ITS GONE 😡all I wanted to do was just add a few more details! AND IT WAS GONE. The brushes and texture are really amazing but I don’t think that a app like this with such amazing features need to put something so stupid down that it cannot save. Pls fix this problem. Like pls because there are other drawing apps out there with not so good tools BUT AT LEAST saves my projects!😔

Needs manual. This app is awesome but randomly all my brushes went whacky and lost their settings, creating unusable brushes. I searched online and found no solution, just people begging for a manual. I found an outdated manual that didn’t apply to the new layout. I had to delete and redownload to correct the issue. Very inconvenient. On that note as well, Procreate allows you to select and export various canvases at once. This app won’t allow that and it won’t allow more than one canvas to be imported from another program. App needs work and a MANUAL, but the brushes and tools make this my go to over Procreate and other art apps.

Good photoshop alternative with great service. I was having a bit of trouble with antialiasing on the pencil tool and sent feedback about it. They responded very quickly and fixed it on the very next update. That was completely unexpected to be honest; I’ve been struggling trying to get support on another popular iOS drawing app. Artstudio Pro also has some very nice features that are missing in other popular drawing apps on iOS. Having the option to automatically close selections with the lasso tool is very underrated and very appreciated. Also, being able to easily import brushes from photoshop is amazing, and the layout of the app is extremely intuitive for photoshop users.

It’s my favorite drawing! app but one problem... So I love art studio pro I downloaded two days ago, and I just fell in love with it. It’s an amazing app and I honestly think it’s better than procreate, but there is one problem I was drawing today and I drew this beautiful realistic eye and I shut my iPad off, and when I turned it back on all my progress was gone and I rlly was happy with what I had drew … i personally think that it isn’t reasonable that you have to pay money to save your artwork that you work so hard on and that expresses your creativity but otherwise this app is great! Love the unique brushes!

Great app but it glitches. This app would be perfect if it wasn’t for the glitches. I’ve tried uninstalling it and downloading it again on my iPad several times but nothing fixes the issue. The app will claim its auto saving your work then glitch and close the app. When you open the app again some of your work may not have saved. It makes getting anything done highly frustrating. I don’t want to have to give up on this app due it being one of the only apps I’ve found that I can use to draw that offers more than 20 layers for bigger projects and a variety of brushes. Please fix this app as soon as possible.

This is a VERY GOOD and Welcome update.. Update March 2019 This is the best update to ArtStudio Pro, YET! Great update team! Still my number one go to sketching/drawing/painting app. Your IOS app is so good to use that I have started using the Mac version of ArtStudio Pro, now! On iOS, my other go to drawing/sketching/painting/image editing apps in order of use/preference are Tayasui Sketches, my Morphlio Sketch journal, Procreate, Artrage and then Pixelmator. Older Update question resolved. With the help of Lucky Clan support, I was able to resolve the Pencil mode issue. The basic, default pencils have no pressure settings. The basic group of pencil brushes are static with no variations in thick/thin/light/dark using pressure sensitivity. However, palm/hand rejection with my Adonit Pixel stylus still seems to not be working consistently across the the entire app. I still seem to be getting random marks every once in a while when drawing/painting.

Free to browse. I finally caught wind of this app and I’m hearing you used to need to purchase it to try it. It’s nice they’re letting people see how it works now! Unfortunately it came with a price hike up that I just can’t justify for an app. I see it used to be $15 and I understand that may not be what the developers think is the worth of this app but I’d be willing to pay that amount or even $20, just not $40 that’s way too much when desktop programs are around that price when on sale. I really hope the devs reconsider the pricing because until then I’ll have to sadly stick to other apps despite preferring this one after just one try.

Powerful app and much better than procreate. I love the ui, it was carefully thought out. Procreate is good too but overly complicated with short cuts of all sorts which hard to remember and often found myself accidentally making wrong moves. Artstudio did excellent work on creating an app that adds a ton features without being to complicated. I love the shortcuts implemented, and now I don’t need additional accessories like keypad for shortcuts. I highly recommend it. I’m surprised that it’s not as well known and deserves to be in the digital art community.

Disappointed..... The old ArtStudio had TONS and TONS of stamps, ‘footprints’ and various other brushes already available and more that I could purchase for a very reasonable fee, but I spend my money to buy this ‘New’ and ‘Upgraded’ app and...I am extremely disappointed on the selection of brushes there are. Where is the Deer stamps? Where is the Rain stamps? There were bird stamps and so much MORE! D: Whyyyyyyy oh WHY did you do away with them??? T^T;; Please, if there is a way to get those back, tell me please! Because right now, I use Procreate and I am trying to venture out and try other stuff. But If I can not get those stamps, I will request a refund. Thank you (And I was not trying to be rude, but I am still very disappointed) Thank you for your time.

The best.. Artstudio Pro is simply the best. It is as fast as Procreate, but offers Photoshop like features. Unlike Procreate(Sept2018), it has text tools, it can draw shapes and has a very competent brush engine that includes a rope smoothing option. But the best feature of Artstudio Pro is its programming team. I’ve posted on their forum and received feedback within 24 hours everytime. Bugs and small feature request I’ve posted were implemented in about 2 weeks. Larger features were discussed and planned on the Apps roadmap. The team behind Artstudio Pro is easily the best feature of the app. Unlike so many other apps, this one won't end up forgotten and untended. It gets regular updates and feature improvements.
