Best Synths. This app contains the best synths I've seen so far on iOS. I feel it allows my creativity to flow really well, and I'm looking forward for more! As someone who constantly uses this app though, I would really appreciate if our songs could sync across multiple devices. Also, when exporting audio, It'd be nice if the audio file didn't cut off the sound as soon as the measure/audio ends. I'd be editing and using these clips if it had sort of a delay option. Anyways, great app!

Please add the ability to make a full song. This app is super good actually it’s very fun to use and it’s easy to make something on it. Though not being enable to make something more than 8 bars really limits the user and it would be super nice if you could make full songs easily, even just having the sections play automatically so you don’t have to time it yourself would be nice.

Groovy Release. As I told the folks at Groovebox, whilst nothing is perfect, this little gadget is definitely very close. One can let one’s mind wander into whatever space surrounds you… And further. It could be used as a great way to learn the various scales; however, even if the scales are already learnt, there is much fun to be had on this app. Just like in the studio, some of my favourite times are “happy mistakes“! Just cut loose and let go! It’s like a musical toy box for musicians…or the child inside us. Have fun!

So smart, yet so dumb.. Nifty music app however it's very frustrating to use deeply. Won't leave talented musicians feeling fulfilled of having made the music coming out of. You cannot save your own instrument patches. This limits fine tuning of variegated patches to save or recall. It seems to be decision to Maximize IAP. Instead you'll always have the opportunity to buy one of the "genre" packs shoved through notifications. The sequence note editing is very clunky with glaring issues on smaller devices. It's a moodkiller when you want to go deeper, maybe should have the elemental grace that the Auxy UI has. There is a No extensibility in MIDI or control from outside apps. It's one thing to have a nifty sketching tool, it's another to hamstring exploration and "thinking outside the box" creativity.

Perfect has never been so close on iOS. This family of apps was introduced to me by a friend, he showed me the launchpad app and wanted to know about how to make loops,After doing a little bit of digging I realized that the Groovebox app existed. This app could be perfect if you could pull up each synth as a auv3 standalone. And in that mode, it’d be cool to see a more feature rich device For example the drum machine while I Groovebox, would work as we currently know he. But in standalone you’d be able to add effects, used samples, etc The wave table module would have waveform modifiers, user tables and more modulation as all the synths could absolutely use a few more editing options :) This platform while expensive, is so brilliantly crafted. On one hand I love how easy it is to start making a song. But I find myself wanting more wavetable selections I suggest to look at Drambo and their wavetable synth. That’s about as on point as it gets with user tables and adding modifiers and filters as you go Hope to see more table packs added, but if not. I’ll keep jamming I’m so happy with this purchase

Good Choice. I am particularly new to writing and creating songs on my own. Although it is more complex than other of amplify’s music making applications, it gives a even wider range of experience, creativity, and complexity. Plus, no ads, no videos, no nothing. If you want more tracks for the instruments, all you have to do is buy them. That simple. Yes, it does take a LOT more time and effort to make said song, but makes your music much more original. 10/10

Nearly Perfect. First off, I’ve made some amazing beats on this app and I’ve even purchased a few of the sound packs but I have several complaints that are keeping this app from being nearly perfect. Everything that has to do with the instruments is great and making unique sounds is easy but the thing that irritates me the most is the inability to produce different music and have them flow into each other. The section option allows someone to create several different sounds on the same project but I can’t actually have them flow together meaning that I can’t create a beat drop, so I have to manually produce it by tapping on the section at the right time and I hate that. If I could combine sections together into one whole project, then export them and save them as a whole legit beat, this app would be my all-time favorite beat production app. Being able to export music is one of my favorite options but it’s the same 2-4 bars that loop repeatedly and I want some variation and diversity. If the developers ever do create combined sections, this app would be 10x better! Overall, download this app, get the drum packs and such. Everything is fantastic and although there are a lot of in-app purchases, TONS of beats can be made with what is given to you for free.

Not a toy, despite the fun looks. Yes, there are a few things that DAW people aren’t happy with yet, but as an intuitive synth interface, Groovebox can’t be beat. Writing sequences is straightforward and the recorded audio can be exported to use in whatever full DAW anyone wants. My workflow is to write short sequences in Groovebox then export them to Ampify Blocswave for further manipulation and inspiration. When and if the project starts taking form, I bring it into a DAW at home and finalize the details. Groovebox is a great tool in the iOS toolbox to be sure.

Great Sounds, Needs at least midi support to be a true workhorse.. I get that not everything can be AUV3. But if you guys could at least add general midi support so I could use this with some of my more full featured sequencers. If this had general midi and AUV3 though it would probably be one of my most used apps. I get the vibe of this app, but it could be a platform standard considering all the beautiful sounds it has. At least please consider re-releasing some of the modules as standard audio units. Poly 8 sounds beautiful. It’s just as an app, the workflow is clunky in the modern environment with the current plethora of tools available.

Great app I love it to death!. Creating simple beats with this app helps a lot with more of my creative process with music production. I love its functionality with midi devices like the Launch Key. The option of synths, basses, and drums are very nice especially when first starting out with the app. Something I wish the app had was a record function for recording your song entirely, kind of like Ableton Live or Garage Band; and adding more than 8 tracks. I would be fine if they added this as a in-app purchase.

Exporting stems / reverb. I love this app to bits. My only gripe is that I can’t effectively export my sections / stems and take them further in my desktop DAW. This is almost exclusively because when you export your project files, the audio only lasts up until the end of your last note, meaning that if you have any reverb or delay on your instrument, it’s going to get cut off. An option to put empty space at the end of the audio files or indeed to only cut them off when their signal hits 0 would be a HUGE game changer.

Thanks for the Fun App!!. Thanks for adding the new synth ! Since the beginning GB had allot of yet unrealized potential, serving more as a fun and engaging introduction for users to the play around with the basics of EDM. Now (thankfully) the developers seem to have decided what direction they would take GB in, moving toward making it a “real”instrument (not a toy, they have begun releasing new synths and offering more varied content! IMO, GB is now showing signs of what it could be: A very easy to use, yet powerful instrument for IOS. With continued developer support and refinement, and an ear for user feedback, Gb could realize its potential, achieving enough real depth and versatility to be fully integrated into any producers workflow! Really great way to get an idea down when on the go! Works well with Novations other apps Launchpad and Bloc Waves - you can really do allot with this thing! Hours of fun with a simple interface - Potentially GB could be a serious music maker in it's own right for the iOS -Keep up the good stuff, steady new content and excellent support!

pretty good.. prettay prettay good!. If I have to complain about things I would say is that the editing of individual notes could use an update.. it’s so hard to deal with. Dragging a note length is almost impossible to perform.. constantly deleting the note instead.. completely frustrating in that editor. My second complaint would be about the exportation system is way too simplistic. It could use more options like the ability to render tail ends as well as having the perfect loop points.. this has to be a choice because sometimes I need the perfect loop, but most times I also need the ability to have that tail end for transitions and endings so it doesn’t just end abruptly. My third and final complaint is the lack of AUV3.. in this time this should be a standard. Outside of these things I think this app is brilliant.. please update this so It can be perfect.

Seamless beat making. What I enjoy about this tool is it’s ease of jumping into and creating a new project, not only within the app, but for the case of breaking writer’s block for the next production piece. Often times, the hardest part is establishing a solid, undisturbed working environment that’s free from distractions. If there’s challenges creating this space, than there’s an opportunity to lose creative flow. Directly or indirectly, creative problem solving is wasted at this phase, which is critical in creating something from nothing. So, the clean space is here, with a slight learn curve to figure things out (was easy for me coming from Blocs Waves) and I’m off to a great start. Just plus up (the “+” in the app) to add new elements and styles, access the tempo to zone in the project’s soul and be dope. That’s it. But it’s just the beginning, the same. Great App But Very Limited. I downloaded this app cause I wanted to see what it did. It was actually very good! It was a combination of Loop Drum Pads 24, beats, Garageband and your other apps! I could create psytrance, synth-pop, trap, and retro waves, some of my favorite genres that I couldn't do on any other platform before. But, like your other apps, this is very limited... I am very disappointed due to the fact that you have to pay $2 to get a different pack of drums or bass or synths or leads... I know you want money but most people don’t have that kind of money. I suggest, to keep both you and other people happy, use the Drum Pads 24 system. You could charge people ”coins” to buy them... In order to get coins, you could buy them for a certain amount depending on how much you want, or you could watch an advertisement to get coins. Ads give people tons of money, so you'll have even more money than what you're doing right now! People won’t have to pay money to get a new pack and you'll be happy with the ads! But that’a just a suggestion... But I wanna do more on this. I don’t have money so it's very irritating... Hope you understand... Keep it up! :)

Down to three stars.... Good app but I am agreeing with Leom187...this needs work to bring it up to speed as a serious tool. I had to reinstall it after the latest update was hanging in limbo not able to complete (don’t know why). The only saving option(s) are, presumably, to either wave or aac files in any of the three save routes...so only in an audio file format? What good is that? Not exactly the most flexible thing unless loops are as far as an attention span goes or requires. What if I want to transfer a session to Groovebox on another device to work on? Sorry, I just expect more from Novation because I love their stuff. Is the Amplify division of the company tasked with a focus on making simple little “beat boxes” and an ever increasing streamlined conduit to IAP pre-made loop packs for the masses of ‘djs’?

Instant favorite (revised review). Great music making app, this has just jockeyed ahead of Gadget as my go to music making app. Super quick to slap something together. My biggest wish list item (unless I am missing it) is a count in to record and if there was an option to transition from one set to another automatically that would be awesome. Edit - Having said that, I just started to import into launchpad and my transisition issue is resolve.

Love it, but it’s missing one thing. Even though I really feel like developers don’t really read these or care much about what their customers want I’ll still leave my two cents….. Groovebox is one of my favorite IPad apps hands down , partly because of its ability to export projects to Ableton and partly or mostly because of its sounds. I love all the synths and definitely recommend unlocking them. The available iap presets are great and very affordable. The mixer is barebones, no panning or eq, compression or anything but it’s ok because I really don’t mix in Groovebox. I love the sounds but one things missing. Bread and butter sounds, like pianos, organs, acoustic guitars, strings, etc. I think it would be amazing if there were a couple more instruments available, a pcm instrument with Gm sounds and a sampler, a good sampler with slicing capabilities. Not limiting it to 8 tracks would be nice too. 16 tracks would be more than enough for me. I hope the developers read this but if not, it’s all good, this is still a great app.

Phenomenal. I’ve been toying around with auxy studio for all of my music but ever since they pulled the pay for content you got for free card i went searching for another app for music and this one in my opinion is miles above auxy by far the best music maker on the app store, one issue i wish there was a way to share the songs you make directly onto Soundcloud or other apps involving music if you can make this possible it will be greatly appreciated

Such an idea sparker!!. Whenever I’m stuck in a beat block situation I can always spark inspiration from Groovebox!! I can easily generate a random groove that helps me move forward with a fresh new idea with regurgitating old melodies and rhythm loops. It’s fun to just mess around with but even better for actually music production. It’s not an all in one DAW but as a sequencer it’s amazing for sparking creativity!!! Plus the extra packs are updated frequently so the sounds always stay fresh! I love it!

Awesome app with one big request. I am one of those people who has way too many music apps on my iPad. I have purchased dozens of the most popular DAW, synth, drum machine and fx apps and Groovebox one I constantly come back too. Its simply one of the most enjoyable music apps. The immediacy of building great loops is amazing. The addition of automation on synths took it to another level and the implementation of automation is very intuitive and lets you add great movement to the sounds. The one big request that would put this over the top is to add AUv3 multi-out so you can route each channel to a separate mixer track in AUM to add Individual eq and effects.

Great sounds. Intuitive. Needs Launchpad integration. Fantastic app. The sound out of the, um, box, are amazing and reminiscent of apps that cost money. Unlocking the other bits of the app is fine, but the real value is in the sound packs. I play live with Launchpad for iOS and a hardware Launchpad S. I use Blocswave to sculpt my sounds, usually created in Gadget. But getting those sounds into Launchpad is a real pain (much easier if you use Live, which I don’t). Best part of Blocs is the ease of exporting to Launchpad. Groovebox would be a bigger part of my set up if it played well with the other Novation apps. Seems like a pretty big oversight. This ability coming soon?

Fantastic app with a few faults. First off, this app is very well made - beautiful design, easy to pick up, makes creating a breeze (especially with a bluetooth midi keyboard). Here are a few things keeping it from being really fantastic. To build out a full song I think sections should have their own separate mute per block, instead of globally, and it would be great to be able to change instrument blocks individually per section rather than being stuck with a global set for all sections. My biggest gripe is that a project can’t be sent to launchpad directly from groovebox. It’s baffling that it isn’t a feature, especially when it can be done in Blocs, and these seem to be built on the same architecture. Other than that, this is a great creative tool. Edit: Dev response is a good workaround but still more complicated than it should be for apps that should be a seamless experience and all work together as one. I mean really the dream is having all 3 apps in one, with separate tabs for each section, like DaVinci Resolve is for video editing.

Huge potential but not quite there yet. The sequencer is terrible and incredibly frustrating to use. Can’t zoom out the view. Want to move a group of notes around? Impossible. Want to shift notes an octave? Impossible. The gestures are unresponsive and half the time don’t do a thing. There needs to be a better sequencer interface made. I’ve purchased additional sound packs and I’m still disappointed that I can’t find some sounds I’m looking for. There needs to be more hip hop sounds. You’re very limited when you try sculpting your own sounds. You also can’t save the customizations you make into new sound banks. You can’t turn off filters or oscillators. It also would be nice to be able to play all selected sections consecutively to hear the transitions without having to manually trigger the next section.

Wish original tracks can be played. This is a great app but my only wish is that the app has a feature that enables you to play back the original track that was featured on any pack that you buy. I noticed that once you buy a pack, you no longer have the ability to play the featured track for the pack. The other music apps created by this developer all have that feature, so I believe it should be an easy fix. Please, please, please add this feature. I am still giving it a 5 star in spite of the slight omission.

Very great start!. UPDATE: Sections is a great step forward but kinda pointless since it just keeps looping one section instead of playing through each section. I'm seriously enjoying this app and have already spent a considerable amount of time on building up ideas and exporting into Ableton Live. To fully unlock the app, it's pretty steep and I most likely will not unlock the full potential until I see what the updates bring. NEEDED: Automation! You know, the ability to record knob movements over time. Song Mode! Probably the most essential element that's missing from here. Piano Roll Improvements! It would be really nice to scale the piano roll to be able to see what is going on. It drives me nuts trying to figure out what is doing what when you can only see so little at a time. Record Improvements!! This is also a biggie! When enabling Record it seems to start wherever it feels like it. Having it start at a designated position would be clutch! Also, a Record Count-In would make things even better. I noticed that the app crashes when I tried to export some of my projects to Ableton Live. Like I said, a really great start, I'm really hoping this app gets expanded; has potential to be a go to app for building musical sketches.

Carbon copy of Reason Studio iOS???. Garbage. It seems to be almost an EXACT replica of Reason Studio for iOS. Luckily, I learned with that app, it is barely worth $5, and there is not a chance I am going to pay 3x that amount for a clone! Not to mention, just about every other synth maker in the iOS world has their plugins and suites on killer 25-75% off sales for the holiday season. Not Groovebox, Blocs Wave, or Launchpad, and I’m REALLY unhappy with Novation for jumping on the software rental bandwagon that Adobe seems to have pioneered. That’s fine, they can do that if they like, but the idea that I would rent a virtual implementation of a hardware imitation is laughable, at best. I love my Summit, Circuit Rhythm, and LaunchKey mk3, but that is it for me; I’m done with Novation.

The sounds these synths make!😍. I love this app! The fact that you can export as an abelton pack is awesome! You can move the audio and MIDI into any daw! My only wish is to have song mode! Let us link the sequence rows so we can play through a song! please! I’m guessing they want us to move the loops over to their other app which is an awesome app too but moving audio with delay on it doesn’t always loop and this apps delay is a huge part of the sound this app makes. Which that said, this app is so amazing I’ll take what I can get 😂 love it! Again! The sounds the synths make are so squishy! The filters sound like nothing else out there! Buy it!

Best app I’ve used. So I’m a bass player that’s wanting to experiment with the theory of other instruments. This app has everything you need to get started with electronic music, it helped me learn the basics of a beat. The automated scales are nice for the lazy minded, so you can hit whatever key you want and not mess up. It’s a tad bit expensive to unlock advanced features, but it’s way more expensive to buy the instruments. Overall a good app for the musically minded, but I recommend you learn how to play on a chromatic scale before using this instead of having everything laid it in major or minor for you.

My #1 favorite music app. Groovebox is my favorite music app out of the many that I use because the range of sounds and compositions you can create with it with ease is huge. The seamless integration with the Novation Launchkey is just wonderful. The many expansions whether they’re sound packs or actual instrument control expansions are not over-priced and I would recommend getting the expansions for all instruments’ controls because they provide very in depth tweaking of everything. I love this app to the moon and back, my only wish for something to be added to it would be the ability to change the time signatures, especially for the drumbox. Even so, 5/5 stars!

Best Music Making app EVER!. Hands down one of the best apps available. The free version is everything you could ask for. Well worth the money to upgrade for more tools to craft amazing music. The various sound packs available to buy as well are all awesome. The potential to make great beats and music is endless. And it’s ability to be used in conjunction with the apps launch pad and blocs wave is really something else. Hands down one of the best apps on the market for making music.

This app is awesome!. I’ve been using this app for the past few months to sketch out the music I’m making, but I feel like it could use one thing: the ability to automatically cycle through sections. I’ve been yearning for the ability to have the app automatically go to the next section while I’m playing the song, so I can hear what the song sounds like. It’s hard to constantly be tapping the next section when I want it to switch, so this would be a great addition. I know some people might not want that, so it would be toggleable. Otherwise, this app is great and I’ll continue using it until I stop making music.

Unbelievably great. I normally don’t make reviews on apps, but this is way better than I expected it to be, there was zero learning curve, there are plenty of instruments, and it’s really easy to get a grasp of how to write a song well if you already have experience. The only thing I would like changed is that the rest of the song doesn’t play when choosing a new instrument because the quiet ones are hard to hear, other than that, i have no complaints!

Missing Something?. Great app, and love the ecosystem, but.. If there was a way to get my ideas into a timeline/DAW, then this + blocswave + launchpad would be literally perfect. I don’t know if I’m ignorant, behind the times, or what, but having the option to record and/or export (seamlessly) into a timeline (like garage band, fruityloops, whatever) all on one ios device seems like the full package, and an essential part of a music suite. Why isn’t this a thing? Right now, all I have is pieces of songs, and no way to mix them into full ideas... I tried leaping from this, to blocs wave, to garage band, but its a pain, and difficult to get right. Anyway, if this does exist, could a dev point me in the right direction? Either way, thanks for a great tool and slick interface.

Good Beat Production App but...... I like the innovation in the development of this app. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive to unlock its full potential. I’m not even lamenting the sound pack prices as much as I’m taken back by the hefty fee it takes to unlock all the production tools. I feel like those should have been available from the beginning. I love the new update though. The app looks cleaner and more inviting. The sounds are reminiscent of modular synths that you may hear on a Kanye project or Daft Punk record. This app will take you out of your comfort zone when it comes to sound. All I ask is that the developers take fiscal matters into consideration. I’m a low income college student. I can’t afford to buy everything this app has to offer. Sorry. As good as it is, it’s not worth the immense amount of cash that they are asking. Please change that!!!!

I’m now in love with this. The synths sound great, the drums sound great, I’m getting awesome, warm and punchy mixes with this right in the app. The only things I’d ask for at this point is a dedicated export to Launchpad for easily transitioning into a performance space so as to perform the sections into a song and add the wonderful Launchpad effects. And more machines please! Also, and this should be very simple and helpful, it would be great if mutes were active/inactive PER section rather than globally. I always get confused duplicating a section and then wanting to mute a track just for that section only to realize that I can’t and have to then mute/unmute just to decide which pattern(s) to delete for that section. Then of course if I change my mind, the pattern is gone, so now I have to go to another section and copy/paste the original back in. It makes the arrangement process far more tedious than need be. Mutes per section would solve all of this. Thanks for the great app and I hope to see another machine soon! Maybe something dedicated to big, textured sounds for pads and morphing leads.

A very musical Groovebox. I love the playability and sound of this app. The packs are good quality and the instrument controls fun to play with to tweak your sound. The keys and pads are also easy to use. If you want to only sketch musical ideas and send to a project in Ableton or stems to be loaded into your favorite DAW this is all you need. However if you want to do any further work polishing, extending with parameter automation, arranging and finishing a track you will be unsatisfied. I’m not saying I want Cubasis but I am saying that Auxy and Gadget gets you a lot further along the production workflow. I would like to see: Midi learn on all instrument knobs or perhaps main controls. Automation of the instrument knobs or perhaps main controls. Configurable Quantize when playing sections. Right now it seems to be quantized to lowest piano roll quantization. Be able to switch between legato section transitions as it is now and a full configurable quantum as above. Some kind of song mode or at least a performance capture. Yes there are many fine ways to capture performances such as AUM, or your iOS DAW of choice. I’d love to see Groovebox expose it’s separate channels to AudioBus or AUM so we can mix further at the instrument level where there are better solutions for midi learn.

Import. I use this app pretty much everyday in combination with Launchpad. I love most everything about this app. Though sometimes it crashes when I use it for an extended period I still appreciate the fact that I can make my own sounds and then import the patterns into the other app. I would absolutely love the idea of importing a sound and then being able to distort and use this interface to manipulate my actual sounds instead of buying packs ALL the time. Hopefully this will be something to look into.

Piano roll could be the saving grace. Great app but the piano roll is impossible to use, it’ll be great if you could use the app in landscape mode even if it was just the piano roll and not being able to drag the selector towards the right of the screen when trying to copy is the biggest mistake in the app regardless of its shortcoming its still the most user friendly app for music creation on the app store. If the piano roll got fixed maybe a couple more people would purchase the pro version otherwise people just save the riffs and continue later on a pc.

Still Does Not Receive Midi Notes From 2019 LaunchPads KeyBoard Feature. I just sent you guys an email. Posting here just so you all don’t forget to fix this: First thank you for your latest update. Opening up your GrooveBox to receive midi note data from other midi controllers was really the best move and you all did it. Thank you so much for making this happen. However, in your latest update one thing got completely LEFT BEHIND; LaunchPad mini MK3 midi note controller. I am flummoxed as to how you were able to open the flood gates for other midi note controllers to control GrooveBox but somehow, BLOCKED the 2019 LaunchPads from sending midi note data. I know this has to be an accident and since many LaunchPad users have not caught up to the new custom features of the new 2019 LaunchPads, they have not reported this. Well I’m here to tell you, you missed the new LaunchPad. Please Please PLEASE get a LaunchPad Mini MK3 or X and test the GrooveBox with the LP MK3 to make sure it is receiving note data from both the LP mini MK3’s scale keyboard and from the single note keys and roll this update out ASAP. The whole point of an iOS musician owning one of the 2019 LaunchPAds is to take advantage of being able to control the LaunchPad app and GrooveBox at the same time off of the SAME CONTROLLER. It’s great portability to perform with your apps and invest more into them. You’re almost there, guys. Please finish fixing this.

Million and one Uses / Beats Sound Killer alone.. This is truly a multifaceted ( I want to say Machine ) ,…most apps are only good for one thing ,…But I’ve made complete songs by simply just Making a Beat, Bass, and A synth or 2 ,….and then recording live performances using Garage band or my running out to my physical 16 trk . You could do the same on stage. Also each synth unit is unique in its killer design and sound. Has to be one of the best sounding Drum Machines also,… at least in the top tier. The developers on Ampify are pro’s since all their apps ( Groovebox - Bloc waves - and Launchpad ), are designed to work together in sync / recording or live /

Great app for beginners. Groovebox is a great app for anyone looking to get into beat making without wanting to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on equipment; especially if you find out you aren’t so good at it ;-) Groovebox has great sound packs for all different types of genres, and the fine control over each sound is definitely a must have. Would give 5 stars if I could import external audio files to sample or import sound recorded from a microphone. But again, this is more of a starting setup than “I want to make beats full time” thing

Amazing but I’m Heartbroken. This app is amazing. Fun, intuitive, and high quality. It’s easy to get rolling on things. I switched phones and didn’t realize that the tracks weren’t backed up. I had been creating works penned around highly emotional moments for me (I wrote a really pretty song about my deceased dog as she was dying of cancer, for example). That’s all gone. So I’m in mourning here wishing that I’d been smart enough to have exported everything instead of assuming it was somehow backed up. Please take this as a warning and avoid what I’m feeling now. Again, this app is great and is extremely versatile. It sounds fantastic. I just wish there was some cloud backup feature, but that’s life I suppose.

Love it still! - One of my favorite apps but….. Still no sharing between devices… The only thing missing for my use case is the ability to share between devices. Having the option to save projects to iCloud would fix that. I use it for sketching things out and creating base tracks then export into Launchpad or other apps to add additional material. Sounds great and easy to get something going. It’s very inspiring!

Great but needs sequencing / song recording.. Great App. Works as advertised and way cheaper than an analog synth. Very versatile thus far, and I’m only using what comes free. It would be really cool if there were a sequencer or some way you could do a live dj sorta thing. And also track naming. Some of my loops have a dozen tracks I like to switch between, so it’d be great if i could have a way to know which is which. Definitely recommended, iPhone equivalent of a real synth, and you can get pretty far on the free stuff.

Great but not perfect. Yet.. The base is solid but there’s a lot of missing features. For example, there’s no easy way to shift all the notes around. Right now, you have to select a bar, move them left, make a mess of overlapping notes, they automatically unselect so you have to select all again just to move em one more bar and rage quit in the end. Hopefully we got Ableton Live MIDI Export in the last update but then you can’t your project as a single mixed WAV file. Every export option just provides you with looped stems.

Great App! A Few Requests. Groovebox is a terrific app. Sounds great, intuitive interface, and fun to use. Groovebox Pro Features allow so much more flexibility in sound customization and the recent automation update is a great addition. Groovebox is even better when using the Novation Mini Mk3. I do have some feature requests. It would be great if midi learn functionality could be added so that, at a minimum, Launchkey Mini knobs that have not been assigned by default can be used. Functionality would also improve if the Launchkey Mini knobs could control track volumes when on the mixer (volume) screen or through a shift function. Finally, Groovebox would benefit immensely by incorporating an export function that allows for Groovebox creations to be automatically sent and assigned within the Launchpad app (similar the the functionality of the Blocs app). Other than that, great job! Keep up the amazing work! Don

AWESOME mobile music making app. Update 2: Am I missing something? There are 2/3 times more drum packs than synth or bass options which is unusual and starting to seem limiting. I’d much rather have more options with melody than an over abundance of slightly different drum sounds. Update: I think we are good on the drum combos, where are the new bass and synths? Downloaded this on a whim and have been really impressed and engrossed ever since. Simple layout, great controls and the add-ons are worth the buys but most of all - amazing sounds and songwriting capability. When I'm jamming on an app I want to spend more time playing and developing quickly vs the more precise process on my desktop DAWs and Groovebox lets me do that. Highly recommend. Only gripes are - transferring the clips to work on in Ableton causes a slight pop sound during the start of each clip. Also this would be PERFECT if - - I was able to create a simple timeline of when different tracks come on to capture my layering process. - The automation and effect tweaks could be recorded or transferred to desktop. Buy this now, you'll have a blast right away!

A very capable rhythm composer with excellent sounds. I really dig Groovebox, and I usually write verbose, novelette reviews but I’m trying to be concise. It’s great for starters ideas or creating finished grooves. The ONE issue that keeps me from giving it 5 stars and using it more often is that still, after various updates, the first note of measure 1 in a Drumbox sequence doesn’t sound. It’s frustrating to play a groove and the “one” is just silence. As the groove repeats the 1 of the first measure WILL play, so it’s just a bug with the beginning of a the beat. If that was repaired I would absolutely give Groovebox a 5 Star rating.

Love this app!. I love all of this company's apps! I perform live with Launchpad and Groovebox on a regular basis, and have recommended them all to several fellow musicians. Thank you so much for adding Chromatic Mode to Groovebox! Speaking of Groovebox, I also have one suggestion and one request: First, when muting/unmuting tracks, could there be a way to either set a fade in/out time, or have the delay be post-signal, so that the tracks can come in and out smoothly instead of an abrupt cut off? Second, I would personally really get a lot of use out of the ability to have non-4/4 sequence lengths. In addition to the occasional song in 3, 5, 7, etc. I often like to create a dance groove with maybe a synth arpeggio and/or a percussion track that continuously move across the bar line. I know it's not the most common user need but there are some of us who like to break out of the box, and I love using your platforms so it would mean a lot! Thanks again for all you guys do.

Totally Amazing Music App!!. I’ve been using this for a long while now, and it is fantastic! The new addition of the Horizon Synth brings the App up to what I would call a ‘Full’ Studio. The sounds from the Horizon Synth are as beautiful as they are complex - just the sort of thing you’d expect of companies such as Novation & Ampify Studio! I have enjoyed a long association with Novation, and in my opinion, they have never released a bad product. If you already have this App, but haven’t yet updated, NOW is the time to do so. Great pattern based DAW. This is very easy to use and sounds amazing. The interface could use bigger and easier to read font. Pattern view should be turn on by default. Is there an easy way to choose a pattern directly for each sound? Or add our own default pattern?

Great stuff but please, please some MIDI cc’s.. Surely I’m not the only one asking for this. I know it responds to a couple of knobs on the Novation controller but I really don’t need another keyboard. Is there a legitimate reason why there is no response to cc’s? This feature would take it from great to awesome. I would happily pay for it as an IAP as I am sure would many other users. Will it ever happen?

Groovebox synth. I like this because you can make dance music very quickly,with no musical theory and you can make quite complicated grooves and melodies intuitively

Super smart app.. Innovation and creativity aside, the sound is very high quality if you're into electronic music and want to either create your own electronic music or even just use the prexisting patches/beats to generate ideas to build upon. Highly recommend. Great app. 5/5.

Awesome idea need help. This really is an awesome app, but you'll see that it's missing three major things to make it truly an app that stands out from all other apps and actually allows you to produce a full song. This app in its current form will only enable you to make up parts. So what's it missing? 1 - Import your own samples - unfortunately the samples as with most of their other apps all sound very similar and tend to be a bit drab. There are no uplifting or mainstream types of samples. 2 - beat loop 1/4 1/2... etc or 32 64 bar sample length so that you can program in those drop in drum rolls 3 - Midi so that you can play live with any of novations keyboards and pads

Good but. Can you please make a tutorial or something on how to within the sections get the next instrument to play for example in the next section not all at once other than that great loops and synths

Great integration with Launchpad. Love the way Groovebox and Blocs Wave integrate so well with Launchpad. Great apps for exploring and creating new ideas for composition. If Launchpad could be controlled via MIDI this would be a truly excellent trifecta. If MIDI isn’t your concern, these 3 apps are great and are well worth buying along with the in-app purchases.

Review. It’s a great app for either just messing around or creating amazing pieces my only recommendation is once you’ve used all the free sounds it gets boring if there where some more free tracks the app would be great

Great app. Fantastic samples, great way to come up with new ideas. I had a gig Infront of 10,000 people using only this app. Would be great to have a 1 week free trial option. So many of my friends want to see the full potential of the app but it's not acessable.

I’ve been a music producer for 28 years and tried and have written countless tracks on everything from iMaschine to UBeats and back, but Nothing Beats Groovebox, And it’s seemingly infinite sound options just like using the real hardware versions of these sound and tone generators.Plus the Very affordable and amazing expansions packs (ive bought them all) plus just the free packs Alone are enough to make high quality user control over the awesome quality sound and depth it has to offer!! and fun !!! .......to make music the way You Want it to Sound!!

Amazing app with a few short comings. Edit: This a money grab now? “Buy the pro features collection and you’ll unlock the whole app. Except for the Horizon synth, oh no you have to pay extra for that.” Cool, thanks devs. Gotta love it. You guys started doing updates the helped my complaints but then you go and do this, just why? This app is great for people who want to get musical ideas down quickly and efficiently, or even starting now ideas easily. For people like me, who are on the move all the time, it’s great. I like it so much that I’ve bought multiple sound packs and the pro features bundle BUT there are a few things that really inhibit creating music. 1) You can’t save patches on the synths. This is a big one, cos it means every time I start a new project or even add a new instrument to a project it takes forever to get the sound I want. If Amplify made it so you had a section in the sound selection menu with presets you’ve made and saved then this would be easily fixed. 2) The song sections idea would be great, if it actually worked. If you mute an instrument in one section it mutes them for all the others (which I find very annoying). Oh and also, when you’re playing one section it doesn’t then transition to the next section, it just stays looping that SAME SECTION which just defeats the entire purpose of the sections idea. 3) The controls on all the synths are really fiddily. Every time you go to change a parameter or change the value of a knob it likes to slide over to a different section of the synth, which is just an annoying small gripe I have with the user interface And finally, 4) The sequencer editor is garbage. If you try to lengthen a note it almost always, without fail, slides the screen to a different section of the sequence or moves the note in question. It takes me at least 5 tries each time I want to make a note longer, and then when you do manage to start making the note longer it stops the sequence from moving, which means you have to continue repeating this process as there is NO WAY TO ZOOM IN ON THE SEQUENCER, which is another big problem. Alongside this, the sequencer never tells you at what point of the sequence you’re in, even just adding numbers like “1.1, 1.2, 1.3...” etc. at the top of the screen like in Korg’s Gadget would easily fix that problem. So, even though I do love this app to pieces, there are TONS of problems with it that stop you from creating stuff as easy that are infuriatingly easy to fix. So, ya know, fix it please.

Please let us add our own samples too!. You need to open this up to allow the user to add their own content. Otherwise it looks like iAP greed. GR-16 allows you to add content and they also sell samples, why not this app too.

Great scratchpad. Once you figure out how this works it very quickly becomes a very handy scratchpad. Export to Ableton is the killer feature. Just needs a "clear all" feature for wiping a pattern and starting fresh.

Dope app. Dope app, really fun to use and a great tool for inspiration. I do wish the developers would add the feature to import your own samples and to be able to send midi, this would take this app to the next level and would be integrated into to my workflow as my go to.

Amazing app overall.. Fantastic app! I have had extensive experience writing and arranging music in digital audio workstations for a long time plus playing music with real instruments in rock and jazz bands as well. This app is amazing for presenting sequence and sound options that will trigger your imagination and creativity and really help the songwriting process. Its very creative much like Avenger on the PC and other such programs that cost a lot more. However it does appear to miss someone very important features like a CC style side view of note velocities in the sequencer and the ability to change them with a pen or finger so you can create smooth velocity rises and so on, and also it appears that it doesn’t have the ability to link the sequence sections together so they play in a song like sequence, chorus, break, intro...that type of thing. It also appears that you can’t drum load your own samples Into the drum box or record control changes in the Synths (opening filters and envelopes and recording them and so on). I could be wrong about this as I have only been using it for about a week, but if it had some of these features it would be an absolute killer app on the iPad with no competition. But all that said it’s still an incredibly creative and powerful app with great sounds!!

Almost perfect. I love Groovebox, it is so easy to use and great for generating new ideas, and sounds amazing. Even more fun with my Novation controllers and other Ampify apps. I have only one request: having the pro upgrade as I do, WHY OH WHY do we not yet have control over MIDI input channels? I use it for live jamming and have a work around so sounds are not triggered by other controllers - I create a dummy instrument channel and mute it when I don’t want to trigger Groovebox - but it’s not ideal. Solid app!!. I downloaded Groovebox years ago, along with several other music creation apps. However, up until recently I didn’t use many of them, but now Groovebox is solidly in my top 3 music creation apps, the workflow is simple & easy to use, and the factory sounds are decent, but the app gives you the flexibility to tinker with different settings in order truly make your music sound unique to you. I wish I took the time to use Groovebox sooner!

Super capable. Incredibly deep when you want it to be, still easy enough to pick up and play that my kids can fool around with it and make cool noises.

Lots of fun. Easy to use, lots of variety, great sounds, surprising effects However, it seems in the most recent update, when you are placing notes down you don’t hear the notes until you play back the entire song. In a prior version you could hear the note before you placed it. This is kind of broken and needs fixing.

Can’t get anything open. I downloaded this app and have yet to get it to do anything but buy things in the app. I can’t make a beat or instrument appear on the screen. I can’t play them. I can’t even see them. It’s just a black screen with a ‘plus’ button to open new projects but when opened the screen remains black and nothing happens.

Can’t wait to get more instrument though 😜 That would be very satisfying to get more access to tweaking knobs of each instrument , more than the 3 or 4 first one, or that we could map knobs to get control on 8 like on the launchkey Novation or other midi control knobs.. Old review gone without fixing anything. So you want to charge me another $10 for a new instrument? Because you forgot to put it in in the first place? $20 for crappy cartoonish instruments? None of the bugs were fixed from last year, so it’s pretty much a scam, they don’t know what they are doing with the app or the business. Open your competition apps for once and get to a normal quality before asking for handouts. I’m not graciously reiterating the bugs here. Thanks for deleting the review, never paying you guys again

Amazing. This is certainly the best production app for mobile I have used, and I bought fl studio mobile! It’s actually insane how easy it is to use, I’ve already made multiple beats on the app and this will be my go to for making music. The app is simple to use, but learning through the app will definitely help with creating, the UI is just amazing though. 5/5, no complaints!

Not sure why this came up in my head but here it goes.... if at all possible make Blocs Wave your next module (in Groovebox) and give Groovebox a edit window and GAMEOVER now you’d have a sampler to pair with your drum Machine and synth modules and you can put you compositions in song mode!!!

Add song mode. I really like the app, there’s a lot of instruments you can fiddle with. Except one huge thing: no song mode. Maybe you can add song mode so that i can give it 5 stars, cuz i dont want a short-limited music where it can take like only 15-20 seconds

The most intuitive interface for making music. Groovebox is seriously one of the most intuitive interfaces I’ve ever used. It unlocks so much creativity. I love the automatic/random patterns so you’re never working from a blank page (unless you clear it). Switching between play, sequence, and scene modes is quick and seamless. And the pro-packs unlock enough features to make the sounds your own. I hope they add: - scene quantization, so triggering another scene starts on the next bar - “fat finger” toggle for playing keys, so the keys are wider when the scale is set to contain more notes. (3-sized width with a 7-sized scale) - sample replacement for the drum kit. I’d like to touch the sample and change it to a different one so I can mix and match kits. Even better if I can load my own samples - an audio-in/sampler instrument so I can record patterns from live instruments or voice directly in Groovebox

Great app but... Great app for creative on the go beat making and the in-apps for the 3 main sections are a must! Still, devs please make it “rec ready” when you press rec, and make it so when you hit a key/note/pad, it will then start to record and play. Thanks

Very good app!. Its easy to use

Unacceptable battery usage. Used the app once to play around, then noticed the next day my battery was draining way faster than normal. Checked the usage and this app was the culprit. Can't see any reason it should be responsible for 73% of my battery usage while it's sitting unused in the background. Deleted it immediately.

Deceptively Powerful. Ok, I have to admit I didn't expect this app to be more than a bit of fun. But honestly? It's amazing. Inspiring and intuitive for generating new ideas, and with the optional in-app purchase, it opens up a lot of control. And it exports each project directly as an Ableton Live set? Sign me up!

Almost there. I like it. I really like it. Ampify has done some amazing UX work to make this app not only usable, but even enjoyable on the iPhone screen. There’s just enough skeuomorphism to help, without being cheesy. Two improvements, and I would give it 5 stars. 1. The ability to chain sections to make a song. Currently this can’t be automated. (You’ve heard this before, Ampify.) 2. The ability to save projects to and load projects from a cloud drive (iCloud, DropBox, etc.) in a native Groovebox format. This would let me offload projects to recover storage space, share projects between my iOS devices, and share projects with other users.

I just dont get it :/. What musical merit do you get from an app that sells you basic synths and silly riffs at a high price point? Sure the synths sound ok, but its not worth the price charged. The facilities on offer are sub par to many other apps out there and the creative drive is lost on this loopy nonesense, its like a high priced toy for children. I dont know why I let novation sucker me into these doodoo prodcuts time and time again. At this point I feel like im done with their childish app development. Its like "automap" all over again🙄 Hey novation, stick to making hardware!

Lotsa fun. Pretty much a basstation, kstation, and drumstation, in one! And let’s throw in the minimon too. Great for iPhone as well. Portrait mode makes for easy beats!

Great for creating loops for any style. Amazing and so easy to experiment with. Can perform via Inter-App audio and multitouch mute/unmute which is nice. Can also "open-in" Multitrack Daw or GarageBand on export of patterns. Powerful for the expert yet stimulating for the beginner. It would be nice to activate an expert mode that has off-the-bat adds a blank pattern when I add an instrument. The ability to stack different drum patterns with different kits, each with different loop lengths is fun and stimulating. Worth it alone if this was just a drums app. Effortless melodic entry up and down the octaves. I like the slider feature on the keyboard that limits scale notes or expands to full chromatic. However- the key (in expert mode?) may be best binded to the selected pattern not to the all patterns for more "colour". The mechanism of the loop length control for the range of 0.125 to 16 bars is different but innovative. I'll get used to it over time. A fly out matrix of options on tap might be faster to operate depending on the application.

One of the Best music production apps. I’ve bought so many pro music production apps on the App Store incl AUM, BeatMaker, tons of AU synths, etc. and this is the one I keep coming back to. Just amazing. So simple but powerful and just boosts creativity, and was totally made with a touch interface in mind more like an instrument than an app. Please add more features and synths!! Especially a sampler! It would be limited without other apps like AUM and BeatMaker together in tandem, but sometimes the limitations breed creativity without endless features to fiddle with.

Fisher Price?. This is definitely not a tool for professionals. There is absolutely no room for any type of real artistic expression.

Still pretty basic. Automation is likely to never show up. Also the ipad UI is crippled by iphone support. On larger iPads you need to needlessly scroll across very few synth parameters on what should be easily accessible on just one screen. Its been a year since my last review and the only thing in that whole time that was added was preset saving. The most basic feature imaginable in any other app that has been begged for by the users since day one and it took this long.

Great app. Hello, this is a very fun app to make music with, but I was wondering if it is compatible with a launchpad, or launchkey. Because I recently got one and I’m just looking for apps that work with it! Plz respond!

Fun song writing tool. I enjoy messing with GrooveBox as a starting point for song writing. It’s a little clunky to do detailed writing (working on the piano roll on a phone is unpleasant especially since I can’t switch the phone to landscape mode in the app). I also have struggled to interconnect GarageBand with GrooveBox, which is disappointing. But for what it is—a very quick idea generator, with pre-made sounds—it’s a lot of fun, and inspires my serious song writing. I just wish I could use it as part of my serious song writing process. (That may be on me—I’ve looked for help for interconnecting to GarageBand, but didn’t find anything at the time).

I LOVE IT... but. I really like this app, it makes me happy, and i really enjoy doing some sick beats with it, but if you could add a little more settings to the poly-8’s, like panning your sounds or a more sophisticated pitch modifier like in the drums, it would be fun

Useful music sketch pad. This is a very promising product! Please add parameter automation; that would take this to a whole new level. Also, if it is possible to string together different sections I haven't figured it out. These two features combined would mean I could come up with an entire song just on my phone.

Over 10 months ago you added sections which is brilliant, as it is a step closer to sequencing a fully structured song, yet you still haven’t added a way to automate this yet, forcing users to manually jump between sections when recording, which isn’t always accurate. Can’t you just add a loop button like Auxy that allows you to play a sequence of stacked sections when disabled or a single section when enabled? Why does this take almost a year to add something so seemingly obvious? I’m basically stuck in limbo between Groovebox and Auxy because Groovebox allows for recording while using the keyboard, which Auxy doesn’t have, but Auxy allows you to fully structure, sequence, and play a song which Groovebox doesn’t have (or only implements halfway).

Lots of fun however. When I create a song and then break it down into bars and then take the bars away to try and make a new set up or version it won’t play anything and seems I lost all the work out into something probably can’t recreate why does this happen??

Update automation!. Thank you devs! Automation has finally arrived. Now I can put some serious creative effort into my tracks! I still use Korg’s products for piano/string/pcm sounds. But for Synth tracks this is my new fav. One little issue still remains. Exporting only exports the selected scene, not a whole track. Previous: Upped to 3 stars. Good developer response. Assured automation is still coming. Previous Previous review: I came across a post that a novation/ampify person was active in. Automation was requested in June 2017 (from the posts I was reading) and was “noted” or “on the list” It’s 2020 in a couple days and still no sign of automation being implemented. It’s a cornerstone of music production.

Great app for quick ideas!. Been using this app for about a year now and exporting song ideas to finish on my desktop. Recently downloaded on my 8+ and I can’t restore the purchase for my poly-8 add-ons, please help. That is the only problem I’ve ever found with this app

SO EASY TO USE!!!!!!!!!!!!. The reason for my rating is because it's so easy to access and fun to use! I do think the app show allow you name your own songs or mixes, but overall I really Like it would suggest it to any one that likes GarageBand and/or other apps similar to GB.

Great mobile music making apps!. This line of apps stand out as a solid body of work. The sound packs are great, the interfaces are great, and the fact it fits in your pocket is just icing on the cake. Thanks to the team for putting in the work for a well thought out and well executed music app that didn’t feel a video game, a toy, or a frustrating mess.

Great app so far. This is a really inspiring app for sketching out tunes. I appreciate it how well it works on the small screen of the iPhone. The modules sound great too. I gave 4 stars because I feel like it could go from great to exceptional with a couple of additions. Some kind of automation whether like Figure or like Auxy would be very welcome. Also allowing pattern lengths that aren’t a multiple of 4 would really open up the creative potential of the app.

Amazing, breathtaking, show-stopping, fantastic. This app is truly phenomenal! The beats go so well in my music and it’s all I could ask for. My One Single question (and I don’t know if I’m just not seeing it) is whether there’s a feature to change the time signature. ¾ time would literally create peace.

Amazing app...but OMG why have i still been waiting for this?. This one option wastes precious time..why would you not have a count in to record? Im tired of waiting for a 16 bar 70bpm loop to happen before i can start recording again. So frustrating. Ive been waiting for this since your release and you just so happen to not offer it like no one cares. Thats so frustrating.. 4 stars ... fix this and get 5

4/4. I think overall , the app is great. However, there’s no option to change the meter. There’s no way to change the meter to something different (3/4, 7/8). I really wish they updated the app to where this feature could be added, but everything else is perfect and easy to use.

2 Things. Needs account system and More instruments. There needs to be an account system we’re you can create an account on Groovebox and then if you switch over to another phone or device, all your stuff will be there. Also there are currently only four instruments which is the Drumbox, Minimon, RetroBass, and Poly - 8. If they add more instruments maybe like the flute, guitar, piano, and more, this app will be better than most Pc beat making programs.

Powerful app but it needs more friendly interface. I love 3 apps of Novation and I think they are very powerful but the design of the interface can be much easier and it needs to be more organized... I hope you guys are working on it cause we are all waiting for a huge update. These apps are great and can be much better. Thank you.

This is app is jaw dropping in simplicity and complexity. I wish I could have a chromatic option to add some flats and sharps. UPDATE!!! The new features are intense! Works very well. Sound module are very inspiring. My new wish: Because the app is very useful and inspiring, I wish I could lay down a quick vocal track just so I wouldn't lose the magic. I really lose track of time using this app. Money well spent! I have a request, that the app be able to have a key change in a section. And that randomness in playing can understand section with the key change. Wish list: The ability to play automatically all the way through and the ability to Have a coda.

Pretty good. All around, a pretty good music apps. There could be more variety in sounds, however. Too many are starting to sound the same. Glitch: the app is not working well with Novation Launchkey Mini MK3. Not all keys are mapped to the onscreen keys/notes & one lower key plays a drum/percussive tone even when using the melodic components of the app. A big frustrating for sure.

So much fun. I love this app so much. It’s so fun and easy to use. I keep creating new projects like about every day and I don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. The song maker is a bit tricky but I’ll eventually get the hang of it. Thanks Amplify Music for making such amazing apps.

Great tools.. I am a professional musician and this is a fun and intuitive app that gives a decent amount of freedom to make some cool tunes with some customization. It’s similar to the equally brilliant music creation app Figure, but I actually found myself preferring this one because things are laid out more clearly and the sounds you can produce are less limited. It’s a fun app to get you started making grooves. Highly recommend.

Please restores my songs. I have had this app for years now and I just go a new phone when I got the app again all of my song that I had spent hours on have disappeared and I want them back if you could get them back to me it would mean a lot to me

Who is complaining about the price?!?. I’ve barely scratched the surface with these apps but I don’t understand why anyone would complain about paying 99 cents for a sound pack? I’ve bought all of the sound packs on Groove box & the few other features ....maybe spent $50 tops? Not sure why anyone other than a high schooler with no job would see that as expensive. You get to create music on your phone for crying out loud! 😂😛😳🤔🙄👍🏼

Love this for Songwriting on the Go. This is a fantastic app, and I can’t recommend it enough! I wish, however, that there would be some more conventional sounds to purchase, like processed pianos and guitar tones. I write more “industrial” type music, and those kind of sounds would be a welcome addition to the library of tones.

Great app! Needs major updates. Already published a few songs using this app. Wish for some type of audio sampler module! Add note repeat added for drums, able to reverse drum samples would definitely help out! Also I would like to open my sessions between devices. From iPad to iPhone, maybe save sessions on iCloud to open and share between other users please!

Professional sound design but some crackling on ip7. I'm getting some crackling and sound glitch if with only four modules activated!! I'm on an iPhone 7plus so I should have enough power to not get sound glitches. Most my other music apps don't crackle. I've restarted and remove apps out of ram but still persists. Please look into this guys!

Surprisingly good, simple yet powerful. Well worth upgrading to pro. Even with “only” three synth engines, they are extremely flexible. This app is surprisingly easy to use yet very capable. The only thing missing is parameter automation. This reminds me a lot of Caustic, not quite as capable but easier for quick jams. I’m very very happy with this app!

So far so good.... Like the way the app is put together. Nice packs all the way around. My only issue is not being able to change tempo before starting a project on my iPhone version. Unless there is a way and I missed it. That’s the only reason I didn’t give this a 5 star. Looking forward to see how the app evolves. Hopefully some vocal and more fx samples coming.

Won’t restore on other devices. I recently purchased a couple of apps for Groovebox on my phone. When I tried to restore purchases on both of my iPads, it did not recognize them. It’s been about 24 hours and still nothing. It wants me to buy them again. Any suggestions?

On album 2 with groovebox. This app helped me hone in my sound, and helped me write an entire album using both groovebox sounds, and other sample. Perfect platform for getting started towards something huge. My only complaint is that if there were some more options for automations, or maybe a desktop version for in daw action, then this app would be unstoppable.

Good app, just one thing.... Please make it so we can hear all the sections being played one after the other without having to tap sections on time. I feel like making this a thing in groovebox will solidify it more as a DAW and not just a random beat-maker app, since it’s already perfect with instruments and other things. Leaving a 4 star review hoping to be noticed.

Still waiting for the ability to transfer projects between devices. Great app with wonderful sounds. Wish I could start work on my iPhone and then finish up on the IPad. All projects are still orphaned on a single device. Five stars when they finally do this.

Yes!. I love Groovebox: it’s a rock solid ecosystem and operates flawlessly with Get Things Done workflow and an abundance of excellent options. It’s the app I use most (period) and certainly the music-making app that I use the most. Get it, unlock it and don’t look back!

Shortcomings but Very Intuitive and Great Synths. Really fun but I wish the sections featured worked properly. From what iv’e seen you cant create songs just loops. I hope the developers see this to build onto this app. It is incredibly intuitive and simple but could be way better if you could take the loops you have created further without having to export them to a DAW.

Groovebox. I have been using all of their apps for some time now and really like the update for launchkey. I would really love to see integration with my launchpad in the same way, full control , recorded notes displayed on launchpad like launchkey. I am not really sure what this new update does , but now i cannot even use my launchpad for Groovebox. I hit the pads and nothing ? Not a helpful update, please fix , thanks , your dedicated user. Why wait?! Download this NOW. Whether you are a professional or your just interested in creating music. This app along with the other apps under the Amplify banner are great tools! Even if you do not spend a dime on in-app-purchases, the free versions are still a great tools to have in your audio production toolbox. It is obvious that they listen to their users and updates for the apps are both useful and innovative.

Best app on my phone. EDIT: The only thing I want is a Lo-Fi hip-hop drum pack. The new kits that get added are pretty diverse. I just want some warm, soft drums. Some kicks, hats, and snares that are reminiscient of J Dilla ya know? The quality of the synthesizers and the drum samples is seriously so much better than I could have ever hoped for. And with most in app purchases costing around a dollar, I'm spending much less than the $50+ I'd spend to get a new synth plugin or drum kit for Ableton. Affordable, intensely impressive, and wildly fun. This is my new favorite app.

Largely impressed!. I haven’t even spent a penny in this app and I’m making several beats for projects. It’s helped me realize what notes should be achieved, especially in my singing. If nothing else, use it to tone-check yourself! I’m considering putting money into more of the features at some point!

Split Screen, so I spit Novation. I stopped using this app and regret purchasing it due to the split screen icon I keep hitting every time I choose to touch the middle instrument. The split screen icon is like 1mm from it and in the throws of jamming you touch it 90% of the time ruining a perfectly good recording. And you’ll be glad to know there is no control to hide the icon! Real jam killjoy.

Amplify music apps are great. 20 year multi-instrumentalist/rec/mix/mastering eng, songwriter. These are the best apps I’ve come across. Each have their own uses: Groovebox, Launchpad, and Blocs Wave are great. If I am being a butthead, would love 24bit, but it doesn’t honestly matter- the samples all sound great. The packs are 👌, and I especially love B.W. Hoping to see Launchpad and Groovebox have a little more mixing capability, but it’s not even a thing. <3 Pretty revolutionary tech-could never have imagined when I first started around 2000 that we have recording studios in our pockets yet here we are. Is there definitely definitely worth checking out. I don’t leave reviews on Jack LOL. Five stars

Cannot export complete song. I realize this is by design but can you please add the ability to export an entire song to wav or acc. It only exports sections. This is a large percentage of us who would like to export the entire song not just each section and upload to SoundCloud or other sharing platform as a whole song. I feel like the app is very limited in this sense and really prohibits the ability to let others hear a whole song. Taking down to one star. I feel like I was ignored, it’s not like I see that many reviews.

Love it but... This app is honestly amazing, the best one I’ve found and am IN LOVE with it but i just wish i could make the songs longer. Maybe its because I’ve just got it, but i can only have 8 bars and that limited loop. If this was added it would make this app top tier. Unless there’s already a way I haven’t figured out yet :/

It all comes down to the sounds and the interface. So I’m still looking to get a fat sub sound to undergird my fäv tunes. Groovebox is always at work, making things much easier and more holistic overall. However, we’re not seamless yet. Getting there. Thanks Groovebox Team.

Almost the best on iOS.. Truly love using this app with my Novation LaunchKey MINI, but we really need Midi learn in the app, and the ability to assign midi channels per instrument to really open this one up. Heck if we had Sample import on the drum machines, this app would be the best thing on iOS ever! Great work nonetheless, just want to unlock it’s full potential. 👊🏼™️

Great app, missing features. This app is great. Great workflow, good internal synth engines, great sequencer and arranger. Features missing that would make this app 5 stars instead of 4: Automation, midi clock sync, song mode, midi out. Midi out would be huge, if I could sequence Animoog or external hardware synths this app it would be one of my favorites. There are other apps capable of this but as stated above this app has a great workflow. I’d pay a $20 in app purchase for midi out.

Best music app yet. I love using this app because it allows me to make music how I want easily without having to pay for membership. All the instrument choices are amazing, but a better transition between sections would be nice. I don’t like having to manually switch sections in a song

A must-have for the composer/producer on the go!. I have logic pro at home and use this amazing app to write out super cool loops when I’m out! Nothing is more annoying than a song coming to you and having no way to write it down! Not anymore!! Thanks Novation! I also have your massive launchkey keyboard integrated with Logic Pro. Keep it up guys you are the best when it comes to mobile music software!

You can do so much with this app. Only issue is that every 10 seconds or so the app freezes for 5 seconds. I can’t uninstall it because I have a ton of files on it. I really enjoy the sounds I can make with it. My go to app for making music. I downloaded this the day it came out. I was already a fan of blocs wav and launchpad and this came out and completed the trio. It’s amazing the amount of sounds you can make with this app. I use it all the time.

Good app but needs more updates!. This app is a good app! I like it! The only complaint is simple stuff. Like 1. We should be able to export a wav file with the duration or length of 2 minutes aleast not just 40 seconds of it. 2. There should be more focus on hip hop sounds and rnb sounds because I hate electronic music. 3. Incorporate bigger piano scale options and sounds/loops etc. better 808 tones! Hi hats sound.

Another “gotta have it app”!. This is definitely one of the best groove creators for coming up with a variety of groovin’ musical styles. Along with an endless selection of music patterns and powerful synths, this app is pretty nice. Good for starting ideas from scratch or choose from a ton of very useful music patterns. Well worth having this app in your arsenal fo sho bro!!!

Fantastic. This app is great, is perfect to me because it works great on those moments when I am not at the studio but i have some cool ideas, I use it as my notebook and then I build all those ideas on my synths, even I think you can get good sounds from it, the sounds included are pretty cool

Good app, one complaint.. When you guys do these half off sales it does nothing for the customers that have already bought all the packs and features. How about a reward say 4 times a year, every three months any customers that have all your current tools get a free sound pack or feature that no one else does?

Has potential but falls flat. A major part of creating music is being able to edit midi notes, and the piano roll / pattern editor is very limited. On an iPad Pro 13", there is no way to zoom out making it tedious at best to edit patterns. Second to manipulating patterns is to be able to quickly undo a change, and the 1 increment undo with a pop up “are you sure” became too much and I abandoned this incredibly good sounding app. Lack of redo should be mentioned, also. These are very basic additions, and critical to making the app useful (to me). It’s great you sell sound packs. I’d like to buy them, but I won’t because I know I won’t be able to edit my patterns efficiently or at all. 5 out of 5 for killer sounds 1 out of 5 for bad pattern editing 2 out of 5 for limited functionality arranging 4 out of 5 for beautiful UI 3 out of 5 = average

Love it, but needs better I/O features. First, this great in so many ways. To many to list. So many useful tools in one place, great sounds, UI, in app workflow. In minutes I can have a new song constructed! Where it comes up short is the i/o. Needs direct export to Launchpad & Blokswave. It can be done but it is very tedious requiring audio share and copying and pasting each loop. Needs Project export/import/ duplicate to other users ipads, cloud, offline back up. Needs Midi Sequence export for other apps, gear, situations. Soooo much to love, it sizzles. Great song writing tools, that expand to other instruments and loops in Blokswave and performance in Launchpad. Develop and sell these i/o’s as pro features please!

Simple, Easy. Not a musician myself, so I don’t have the most informed opinion, but coming from someone who just wants to play around with a synthesizer (I’m using it to create music for a DnD campaign, mostly), this stuff is great. Can definitely see myself buying some sound packs in the future
