Horrible doesn’t work. Every time it says it’s a dove. Couldn’t even figure out a red winged black bird.

Waste of $4.00. This app came up with ridiculous possibilities when trying to ID a very clear bird song. Once I was able to identify the bird (with someone else’s help, not within this app), I found that the app didn’t even have the bird I was looking for in its database, even though it was a common bird for the area.

It’s not working. I got this a few ago. Immediately tested it and it didn’t Recognize the easiest of birds- a blue jay or crow. So far off in fact it was hilarious . I live in a rural areas w no outside noises. Just tried Again w unknown bird sound and suggestions were again way off ! Waste of my 3.99

Different results every time. Used this app in my backyard and got different results every time. The bird I was listening to was clearly a cardinal, but not once did a cardinal come up. Oddly enough, a cardinal is not even listed in their bird database. It’s an interesting idea....but unreliable. I would like my money back.

Talking with cardinals and robins in Massachusetts!. We are having fun in talking with the birds using the application.

Neat idea but never right. I tried this on several times. Never correct. I tried two states. Gives me wrong birds ;(

PERFECT FOR UNTRAINED BIRD LOVERS. Some birdsongs are obvious, many are not. When you can’t see it but you hear it and you gotta know what it is, this is what you need. On 2 occasions, the app didn’t find it. There is a feature where you can submit for further analysis and you get an email. One turned out to be a squirrel, (stranger than typical squirrel sounds), the other a tree toad (that was apparently up pretty high in a tree). But if it is a real bird, the app will get it; if there are more than one type of bird, it will often nail 2 or 3.

I want a refund.... Cannot use without having location services on. That’s strange, but the app shouldn’t make it a requirement. I mean, If you can’t actually use a database of songs rather than location then the accuracy must obviously not be good. Haven’t even used this app because I don’t allow location services. Should be an option since I freaking paid for the app and it wasn’t disclosed that you HAVE to use location services.

Always says "something went wrong!" - does not work.. Good audio library if you just want to listen to bird calls, but the purpose of buying this app was to use the identification feature. Zero correct results to date, even on very clear recordings of common birds. Disappointed.

Not any good.. I got it to try to figure out what bird made my recorded bird call. It couldn’t even identify common redwing blackbird songs, much less any others. A ripoff!

Disappointed. I’ve had this app for several months. It has yet to identify any bird successfully. I have a lot of birds around.

Disappointed. I’ve recorded many different birds but seldom get a result that matches. In many cases the suggested birds sound nothing like the bird I recorded. It’s been right a few times—but for the price, I expected better accuracy.

Not worth it. Had this for a couple years. Correctly ID’d a bird once.

Not even a single correct hit so far. No, it’s not an owl. I’m not sure why it thinks everything is an owl other than that it’s not effective at its sole purpose. I regret this purchase and want my money back.

Misses every time. No matter what I record either the same 5 common birds are always suggested or are odd birds not even in my region (NE Illinois). For example, when I recorded an oriole with no other bird sounds on the track, the choices were robin, white-breasted nuthatch, eurasian collared dove, mourning dove, Carolina wren. Very disappointed.

Emailing bird calls for identification. I have enjoyed the app, but what doesn’t get identifiabed, you can email to chirp o matic. I’ve never had a response. It’s been several weeks at this point.

Doesn’t guess well. This app has not identified a bird call correctly all spring - perhaps it doesn’t play well with iPhone.

Apparently every bird is a Robin. I want my money back! Horrible app. Not ONCE has it accurately identified a bird. I just now was standing 10 feet from a loud and distinctive Carolina Wren, no conflicting sounds around, made a perfect clear recording. Chirp “analyzes it and comes back with the same list as always: Robin, Tufted Titmouse, etc. Completely useless. How do I get a refund?!

Meh. I found that this app has a hard time identifying the right birds.

No sound. I’ve had this app for years and the sound is no kk get working at all. I can’t play old recordings or the identifier. Sad news.

App crashes when I hit the button to “identify”. I paid for the app, recorded a birdsong in the app, pressed the identify button, and CRASH! iPad home screen pops up every time.

A little disappointed. How do you not have a pileated woodpecker on this app?

Want my money back. No matter what, it gives me just about the same bird ids every time and none of them are right. Not one correct I’d? Not useful at all and waste of money sorry to say. Wish I knew how I could get money back

I’m in Heaven. I can’t put this little app down! Trying to occupy my heart on something happy and positive during this tough situation with avoiding the #Corona virus. Thank you for making such an awesome, awesome learning and appreciation of our feathered friends, app. And by the way, only once has it had a problem identifying the songbird. :)

Right. Right on the money. Got it first time.

Hasn’t identified much. I’ve tried this app at least 20 times and it has not identified anything other than a Cardinal and a common grackle, both very common and easy to identify birds by their sound. Definitely not worth the money.

Love Birds. I really like this app but wish I could find some directions. I am old and not very good with this technology. I think I am missing some of the things the app can do.

Not even close. I am a Biologist. We have a bird out back that I can’t see to identify. However I saw this app and decided to try. Results were not even close to the recording! Not even slightly close!

Fun App !. Love being able to identify different birds by their song. Especially when they are hiding among the trees.

Very limited functionality. I have not found this app to work, really ever. I limit background noise as much as possible, hold as still as possible, and get as close as possible and end up with incorrect identifications 90-95% of time. Just a heads up.

Needs more. When it’s searching for the bird, you can’t disable it or start over. Sometimes it keeps searching as long as the phone is on. I had to turn the phone off to stop the searching. It’s only given me a selection of possible birds once in the 2 days I’ve tried it. I need to be able to cancel the search and start over.

Does not come close. I recorded Chuck Will’s Widow which could be mistaken for a Whip/poor/will. But neither of those came up and the choices weren’t even close

The App does not Open. I just downloaded the app and it just crashes and does not open. What should I do?

Ripoff!. Totally worthless. Deserves zero stars. After “anaslysing “ my recording it tells me “something went wrong” and hangs so badly I have to restart my iPhone to use it again. Junk like this shouldn’t be allowed in the App Store. I want a refund!

Not usable on a watch. You can only record the songs on the watch, you can’t ID or analyze at all on the watch app. ): You must also use the phone to even look at watch recordings. It’s a phone app. It’s not the same on the watch.

Doesn’t work. Never plays any kind of sound- neither what I’ve recorded nor the suggested bird call. Wish I could get my money back.

Super fun and helpful. We have a lot of birds in our yard, by design. Recently we’ve acquired a couple new ones and weren’t sure what they were. This app is wonderful once you get to know it. I record the sounds and let it evaluate. It gives me several choices with recordings to choose from. If “that’s not it” there’s an option for that and we record again. I’m building a library in the app of my birds...pretty cool! And so much fun! A glass of wine on the porch and bird watching?!? I swore I’d never!! I do wish however that I could tell it that cardinals are not even close to this region when we have some similar sounds. Otherwise I’m having a lot of chirp fun!

Don’t buy. With only 100 birds in the database it is missing a lot of US birds. I like the way the interface is laid out but they need a lot more birds in the database

Worthless. I just bought this, tried to use it once, and it displayed a “searching” message for the next 4 hours after I recorded a bird song and hit “go.” I couldn’t cancel the entry, go back, or reset it; it was just frozen in permanent search mode. I deleted the app.

It sort of works. I bought it for using on the Apple Watch. The watch app doesn’t work at all, just a black screen. I’ve tried reinstalling and restarting my watch but there’s still nothing. The phone version seems good but I will stick to using the apps provided for free by their competitors.

Sounds of Nature. What a wonderful tool to give me an absolute additional joy of nature and most especially birds! When my daughter was a little girl about three years old I purchased her a book that identified the picture in the sound of birds as she still remembers listening to a bird and saying “mommy that’s a yellow bellied sap sucker” so when I showed her the ChirpOMatic now when we go on walks we stop and record some of the bird sounds that we hear that are unique to our area this is such an awesome tool! Accessibility needs to work. A number of functions don't work with screenreaders. The app needs to be inclusive. contacted the developer but no response. Poor ethos to ignore people with disabilities.

Might as well set a match to your $3.99. Absolutely failed to even come close on four common songs tested. The possibilities offered up made no sense at all.

Bird Nerd Alert. I’m a bit of an amateur bird nerd and love the Chirp O Matic app. There are other apps that work I’m similar ways, and I do use them. But one key feature of Chirp O Matic that I LOVE is, there is an Apple Watch version! No others bird ID app that I have found works with my watch. I don’t always take my phone on walks, so it’s nice to be able to quickly ID a bird song from my wrist. (Although it seems to have a bug at the moment.) The only thing I might say needs improvement would be to make the recording times longer. Definitely a must have a birder of any level of experience! Thanks!

Inaccurate. I’m sitting just about face to face with a bird and recording the sound. The “results” aren’t even close!

Doesn’t work for me. I’ve made what I thought were good recordings of a sing e bird and it has yet to identify a single species. Disappointing. I guess you have to have no other birds in the recording which isn’t easy.

Works in Canada. I love this app. It works in Canada (Quebec province) too! In the city, the background sound is often identified as a mourning dove lol. But it’s ok when you get used it it.

Useful. I didn’t think it would pick out the bird I was trying to find since there were several singing but it returned the one I was looking for as well as the others. I now know that it was a northern flicker. I do recommend you stand still while recording and it may take a couple tries if the bird is singing intermittently. I used it while visiting family and it was successful enough that my 75 year old mother is getting the app.

Piece of Crap App. Everything is a Canada Goose. Sparrows, Indian cuckoos, my alarm clock, a car horn honking, me whistling the Family Matters theme song. It’s all Canada Goose. Terrible sound recognition, totally not worth the money. Should be downloaded as a free app and deleted immediately.

Not a fan. I can be looking at a crow, dove, quail, roadrunner “chirping” and use the app and it’s always wrong. Bummer.

Not one bird has been identified. Many attempts have failed to id even obvious birds.

Meh.... This doesnt work as well I as I hoped. Takes too long to get going and was only accurate some of the times. Its a cute design but wish I wouldnt have spent $4.

Good idea, disappointing performance. The app is a fantastic idea, but it unfortunately has yet to correctly identify a single bird. It always suggests the same 3 or 4 birds - one being a raven, which not only has an extremely distinct call, but is not even present in my area. I am currently trying to get my money back for the app. I would consider re-downloading once the app is out of this apparent development phase, but I would definitely not pay money for it as it exists now.

Chirp o magic. Love it. Grandkids do to.

Difficult to identify. I have trouble using this. This morning it identified a crow call as a robin. I am frustrated.
