crasshipster - Best dictation app period! Accurate. Useful.
Spent a long time looking for and trying out voice to text apps for years. Without question, this is the best one I've ever used. And I've only just tried it out, I was impressed enough to write a review. I don't know the limitations yet just what I like. I haven't used all the features like translation, I'm blown away to have the option.
Even in a quiet voice with normal speech, it is accurate. Very accurate. I am hopeful to record a lecture or speech from another speaker. Such a relief from other like apps that limit recording time, you end up manually correcting ridiculous text, just not worth using.
This app is so useful!

sadakonhomyne - Deceptive
I purchased this app for major reason: in the long list of promises this app makes to the consumer, one of those promises is that you will be able to add in your own custom words. Being able to add and then dictate words that are not found in the iOS dictionary is something that would be useful to many different people. While it is pretty clear on how to use the dictation and a guide is given going over various commands that you can use to add in punctuation, there are no directions on how to add in the custom words and make the app understand the pronunciation of said words. I’m highly disappointed in this. I tried contacting the developer, in hopes of getting some insight as to how this is accomplished. However, after about two days of waiting, I have have been met with nothing but silence. I would highly advise against getting this app.
CrazyInLA - Awesome!
Amazingly awesome. It’s not 100% perfect but it’s very, very close. In fact, the closet I’ve ever seen. In my opinion it’s much better than Dragon. And you can email the translated text and audio file to yourself. I’ve been looking for an inexpensive application like this for a very long time. 100% worth the money spent. If you need to move any sort of audio recording to text, it will literally save you hours and hours of manual transcription. Thank you so much. Exactly what I was looking for!
drpap# - Great, but irritating product
I downloaded this app because it turned out to be the best dictation app out there so far. I downloaded it on my iPad. After using it once, I was very impressed with its accuracy and speed. However I am stuck on a simple matter and have no way to get any type of help with it. When I try to go for help, there is no help button, I end up having to log into Facebook, because I don’t have anything else to do but log into Facebook for simple questions. I just want an answer to my question. How does one close out one file and open a new one to dictate another document. I looked around the app for a close file and start a new document but see none. For that reason I am very disappointed in this app.
Jsong123 - A hard working app
I use voice input a lot and it’s awful when the Apple supplied voice input stops while I’m still talking because it has timed out. This app will not time out so you can sit and talk as long as you want and you can pause in and talk some more and it will never time out.
Smoothcatflash - Buyer beware!!
I went straight to the paid version based on a previous review in which the upgrade erased everything. I was well into a long dictation when I received a phone call. When the call ended 45 seconds later the majority of my dictation was gone. That was over 10 minutes of material!!!
I was already unhappy with this extremely poor app because guess what...there are notes on how to add brackets and commas and exclamation points, but what doesn’t exist? Next line or return or next or any other command. Clearly this was written for asian region characters and in now way supports english or European sentence structure. Look elsewhere.
Hogtied78 - Awful application
I am a physician wanting to dictate aspects of a novel I am very unsuccessfully trying to write. I thought the ability to dictate would help.
This app is simply dysfunctional, poorly executed, exceeding difficult to use, inaccurate and frustrating. It almost seems to be attempting to screw up. I have to believe that many of the positive comments are not correct, or that expectations are so abysmally low.
This is the first refund ia am requesting. $5.95 is a Starbucks double latte, but the double latte does not fail at its mission. So Developer/app writer. I want to see something. I know I can go through Apple and get the funds back. But I want you to issue a refund and explanation. Don’t grovel. And don’t even return the funds. They will be obtained somehow.
But I am willing to have you donate the $5.95, and generate evidence, to Make a Wish or the Salvation Army, and evening take the deduction yourself. But don’t just say you are improving it.
TRUTH BE TOLD TO 3 - Alternative to typing.
This app is very helpful in my classwork.
It allows I’m me to dictate copy and paste, instead of having to type my work. It’s able to cut my time.
eirikr - Some Major Bugs
I’ve had pretty bad luck with this app when dictating on the road: periods where transcription just stops working for a while, or where transcription “jams up” and you have to force quit, losing all of your work. Another problem that occurs is that sometimes when you hit the Stop button, your whole transcription just simply disappears and all of your work (including voice recording) is lost. But hey, the interface is great.
Mstifb - Not for meetings
Bought to help with meetings. Used the multi-person selection. There was only 4 people in this meeting and it didn’t work well. I had to keep restarting it and it didn’t even capture half of what was said and wasn’t very accurate. It won’t help with a meeting. I did use it by myself just to help with brainstorming and it was decent with that. However I didn’t talk much and was in a quiet room.
G Bowman - Inadequate Support
This software is not quite ready for prime time. You cannot dictate directly into a word processing app (like Google Docs or Apple Pages). You have to dictate then email the doc to yourself and cut and paste. Very crude.
The training offered for a new user is trash. Support is an Facebook Page. Truly an amateur product. Not more than a toy. I wish I could get a refund but I am stuck with it. Luckily it was pretty cheap.
RinFL - Doesn’t work and poor support
I had s real voice memos that I transferred to my computer in the past, I transferred the memos back to my iPhone and tried to open them through Speechy, Speechy launches and crashes immediately. I sent an email with the bug and have not heard back from the developer. The issues also occurs on my iPad, used differ not apps to and the audio file to Speechy and all resulted in Speechy crashes.
stellastunna - Horribly, horrible diction app
Out of a 15 minute video, this diction app got only a quarter of the words and sentences correct. There is absolutely NO punctuation used, which I can get over, but the fact that I paid for this app and still have to redo the entire notes for them to make any sense make this service pointless and a waste of money. I was expecting better and am highly disappointed.
LisaPtn - Great but need improvements
I really like this app. It’s easy to use but I always had to edit the text. It has worked better than Dragon for me so I will continue to use it. It would be really great it the accuracy was a little better. I still recommend the app

I wish I had not wasted $9.99 for this application as it does not work well. The dictation works ok with about 90% accuracy which is great but then it deletes what you have dictated with no error message or anything, the text just disappears and you can’t get it back. Apps like this are supposed to make life easier now worse!!

This app was OK until I realized that you loose whatever you have recording if you get a phone call (iphone). It’s really sad as I’ll never be able to recover these speeches exactly. And lost 20-30 mins each time. Must fix!

Great but be super careful!
I thought this was a great app, but I have lost an important recording! There is no way to see deleted files to see if I deleted it? There is also no way to get app support! If anyone out there can help please do!
criz13 - Crashed during recording
Paid $6 for this app and after recording for 10 minutes it crashed and I lost all of my data. When recording the audio, lots of inaccuracies, misspelled words, and jumbled speech. Not good enough for the money spent on an app.

I was using this app to transcribe my writing but it stops at 1700 words. I sent a message to developer via his FB page and no response. I have the paid version.
TFanman - Absolutely the worst I’ve tried
Purchased a couple hrs ago. Had a 15 interview the app literally missed 30 to 40% of the words spoken. Would like a refund. How do I get one. Google was much better just didn’t want to have to carry my laptop for interviews.

Hirlau - Problems Linking to Google Drive
Hello,
It worked fine the first day that the app was downloaded. Then has refused to forward notes to Google Drive. Not much good if you cannot get the notes to Google Docs for dropping on the blog.

Wasted Money. The first time using speechy was fairly impressive. Several subsequent tests under the same conditions were dismal FAILS. I’ve deleted the app.

This app was very disappointing. Uses apples own on board speech to text and just adds graphical interface. Sadly the translation seems to be less accurate than apples standard on board one. Money wasted.
