layers once free, now a premium purchase! What happened?!!. many of the layers once free have been taken away and now are only available as a premium purchase. This also applies to some really basic layers you’d think would be free; such as satellite cloud cover and wind speed just to name a couple. This App was always somewhat buggy, but was still a must have for any weather geek. Now it’s just a simple weather app that cant stand apart from the pack after taking so much away once given as free and/or considered a basic feature and locking them behind a premium pay wall. I HIGHLY suggest looking elsewhere for a weather app. One that doesn’t drastically change their business model just to sell you something once given for free or considered to be an industry standard/basic weather feature. This is my first ever review left for an App if that tells you anything. I really hope this App comes back around and they resolve any internal differences, cause it really was once a great app. Not worth the price of admission today with the added concern of company’s unstable nature toward a business structure to build around.

What happened?. When I first got this app it was easily one of the best one the App Store. Great radar, easy to use tools, alerts that were on the mark. I’m in landscaping and snow removal so it was perfect, but that was 5 years ago. Since then through several updates and “improvements” the developers have gotten sloppy and greedy. On my iPhone 10 with the most updated free version the app constantly shuts down, won’t open several “free” and important features like special weather statements. A few years ago they changed the app so you could click on any part of the map and get the weather, but it’s very seldom I need the weather anywhere but where I’m at, and if I do need the weather in Canada I could easily search it. The only thing this map does it make me mad when I accidentally click it instead of the small carrot to minimize the forecast screen and get thrown into Toronto! Then there is the greedy part, only a few short months ago you could do anything on this app. There were some features to upgrade but they were very specialized or to go without adds. Now I can’t even make the app full screen without a subscription, what are the adds for? Don’t get me started on the IPad version.. bug city! I plead with the developers and owners, take a look at the old version of this app and remember what it was like when you were #1, Thank You!

Paying for this app for the Third time!. So a few years ago I bought this app for a couple bucks, and it was a great companion to the weather channel app during stormy weather. It was a phenomenal app that I still miss in bad weather. After a couple years TWC discontinued that app and migrated to the *new* storm app. I paid a couple bucks (again) and got a app with reduced functionality, but it had weather boxes and lightning strikes. So I swallowed the loss and eventually sought out another app that had storm tracks and timing and some of the other functionality of the old app. Now Storm is insisting that I pay a few more bucks to continue doing the same thing I already paid for it to do, lightning and severe boxes, and that it was already doing just a few weeks ago. So now do I invest a few more bucks in an app that has now proven itself unreliable? Especially after I had to pay for a competitor app to fill the gaps left by the last migration? Perhaps I’ll delete Storm for the time being, and see if I miss it next time there’s a storm, the way I miss the original app.

Worthless, unreliable. Don’t waste your time. This app was amazing a few years ago. Why is there always a need to take something great and “update” it to something that is trash. Every time I open the app, it shows me as somewhere in Africa (I’m in the Midwest USA). When I click the arrow to find my location, the app crashes and closes. Upon reopening the app, it shows my location and sometimes shows the current radar. It no longer shows weather alerts (highlighted counties with active weather watches and warnings), even with the “alerts” button selected, each time I open the app, I have to turn on storm tracks and lightning alerts because it doesn’t remember my preferences anymore. I’ve tried emailing Storm support, but get no response. Ever since “the weather channel” name was added to the app, it turned into trash. TWC is worthless in my opinion anyway. Bring back the old intellicast the way it was before TWC “fixed it”, or at least have your developers read the reviews and fix the bugs. I am away from home a lot of the time and rely on apps like this for weather alerts. It’s just too unreliable anymore. Fix it please

Bring back the old app!. UPDATE: Just paid for a one month sub so I can see lightning and the lightning tracker won’t toggle on. Utter joke. Want a refund. I miss the 3 day thunderstorm/spc outlook display! The earthquake monitor (which the new app has but it’s hard as the dickens to see)! I miss the lightning monitor (again, this app has one but it’s not nearly as reliable). I miss being able to search a location by typing it in. Hunting it down and tapping the screen is a pain when I’m not 100% familiar with the area I might be looking for radar info in. I can’t tap my saved locations anymore and I miss that, too! My husband works in a different town, now when he asks is it going to rain, I have to hunt him down rather than tapping the location at the top of the screen. Overall, the radar is gorgeous...it’s the sheer loss of functionality that stinks. I miss the current conditions at the bottom of the screen; the tap-to-expand setup now is frustrating and very confusing to read. Sometimes it opens...sometimes it causes the location pointer to relocate, causing me to again have to find where I wanted to be looking in the first place. You have a great radar, at this point. That’s about it. One star.

Took a good app and ruined it. This app is so disappointing, there’s probably too many things to list. First of all, it was way better when it was just Weather Underground. Once they forced you to move over from “Storm“, everything went downhill from there. First, I had paid for an ad free experience on Weather Underground (WU), and when they forced you to move over to Storm, they didn’t credit you for the ad free experience you had paid for on the original app. I have contacted them repeatedly, and have gotten no response whatsoever. Apparently they just don’t care about taking your money and then not providing the service you had paid for. Secondly, the underlying map in Storm isn’t nearly as good as the one they used to use when it was WU. Currently, you are unable to edit saved locations or recents. The delete button does not function. The satellite layer on the map doesn’t work. I’d say that their customer service sucked, but you would actually have to have made contact with someone to make that assessment. They can’t even be bothered to reach out to you when you have a problem and request some help. The list goes on and on. How do you take a product that was really good (WU), and then make it significantly worse, while effectively stealing people’s money for a service they had prepaid for. Truly mystifying. Don’t waste your time with this app.

Gone now was the main feature of this app. My habit of not updating apps when they work just fine has once again been solidified by the recent “update” of this app. Now included on this “update” is reduced functionality, so unless you pay for a subscription, the future radar is no longer available to free users. Like many I was upset when this app replaced the old app that was already an amazing app, but I eventually got used to this version and use it extensively for quick access to radar maps. No longer will that be the case because you can only see the past radar and not the future radar (as a free user). Time to uninstall this app and go back to viewing radar via bookmarking a radar page on some other weather information provider. I understand you want to be paid for your work on this app, but this money grab is going to alienate much of your user base starting with me. Im sure others will agree that we shouldn’t have to pay for a service that is free everywhere else. Complete disappointment this “update” was done. Had I never updated I would still have a perfectly function app, but now it’s just a waste of space for me.

Best weather app available!!. My husband works outside for a living so weather is our life. I have had just about every possible weather app out there and I have found Storm Tracker to be the absolute best. My unscientific method for choosing a weather app is to have three weather apps and average them over a certain period of time. The winner hands-down has been Storm Tracker through at least a dozen rounds. It will tell you when it will rain/snow down to the minute and they are accurate over 95% of the time! Now that’s awesome. I love the personalization options that are available. My husband can save the weeks job sites and with one tap know the weather down to street level. Awesome job to the developers!! You have saved my husband from many unneeded road trips due to weather. I can’t say enough about how great this app is for anyone who depends on the weather for their livelihood. Great graphics too!

The only good thing about this app is watching it crash and burn.. Ok. I’ve hated this app from day one. It was a huge step back from WU. But watching the developers dig themselves into a deeper hole? It’s getting to be entertaining at least! I found new apps after a dangerous situation that Storm showed nothing and we had hail and tornados. I contacted the developers and got the canned responses of thank you for your feedback. There was a glimmer of hope when they added storm tracks again several months ago. It still sucked. But slightly better. And now we have to pay for it for premium in a subscription model? I deleted it today as these bad storms are moving through and I can’t get any info on them. How is it that the weather channel app is this horrible? I’m so disappointed they bought out WU and ruined it. If you want a basic radar that’s horribly inaccurate- there are a ton of free apps that will give you that. Weathermate, Aeries Pulse and Accuweather are my go to-s now if anyone is looking for help. None of the three give me everything I want but together have what WU used to.

Has become useless since TWC/IBM took over. App has slid downhill for ages now. Really, how does an app manage to get WORSE? I had been a paid subscriber $0.99 month for years to get the AD free experience. Started having issues with radar images not loading requiring an app restart. Then it started serving me ads even though I was paying to remove them. Numerous emails and support requests sent over 2 months with no response. Finally canceled subscription last month and was going to give them one more shot with re-subscription at the .99 rate when it officially expired a day from now with hopes it would reset my subscription token or whatever. Now I see they want 3.99 a MONTH to remove ads and see basic weather data other apps offer for free. No way I am taking that chance with no previous response to support requests. Putting 75% of a weather app behind a pay wall....hilarious. I am preparing to free up some storage space by removing this app. “Weather Mate” as mentioned by another reviewer has some amazing features and customization for free.

New Storm not as good as old Storm. Well the Weather Channel has now ruined a perfectly good app. Since they “remodeled” the Storm app into the new “Storm Radar” app it’s just not very good anymore. The layout is odd and not very intuitive, plus they changed one of the best things on Storm, the wind speed graphics. It was real easy to see the wind movement with many wind speed arrows, but now it is the occasional arrow and no movement, just a direction. No where near as useful. The radar is ok, but when you zoom in sometimes the rain/snow that was there disappears! Something is wrong there. The current weather info seems to be lacking a measure of precipitation in the last 24 hours, something that is pretty basic for weather information. After using this for several months (I would switch to another app, but they are all bad!), I’ve found it pretty flakey. Quite often the app just quits for no reason. Other times I try to move the map area and it takes 10-15 seconds for it to respond. I also do not like the radar to go into animation mode when I open the app and have configured it to not do that ... but it still does occasionally. This is all pretty sad given all the time they have had to work on this. Update, now they are pushing the “Pro” version and have some icons on the left side of the screen that are only active in the “Pro” version. Problem is they block the view on the iPhone, but you can’t get rid of them. Another annoying money grab ....

I really liked this app but........ I guess because I chose not to upgrade to premium I don’t get to see the weather at all. The last couple of times I’ve gone to the app all I get are dashes where information should be. My saved locations were gone so I entered them again to see if that would help, no. I refuse to put an app (that I can get the same information else where for free)on the payroll. I’m only willing to make a one time payment. Update..... The makers of this app contacted me after my first review assuring me that I would still receive basic weather information to keep me safe in the case of hazardous weather. I just went through a hurricane here in NC no thanks to this app. The entire time leading up to the storm all I got was a picture of the continents, I couldn't even zoom in on my location to see anything. I got the notification for a warning but because I couldn't open my location I didn’t know how to get to the warning. I probably wouldn't say anything now but this morning I got another notification for a weather warning. Why is it I can now get all the detail I could ever want about a storm that has already passed.

Wow a lot of fake 5 star reviews. Hi, my name is John Fujita-Beaufort Weathervane and I was an Air Force hurricane hunter pilot before I became a tornado chaser for a big name weather company and I’ve got 45 years of experience with forecasting, even though I’m only 38 - Oh, I didn’t mention, I was orbiting the moon on a secret weather mission to see if there was moon weather, and I was going so fast that time actually slowed down, so that’s why my earth age is 38 but I have those seven extra years of experience. Relativity is a crazy thing! Anyway, this app has brought me so much joy that it brings tears to my eyes every time I open it on my phone. Most of the time it crashes, like that one time my C-130 crashed while hunting a hurricane, and the app has reduced functionality like, well, that one time when my C-130 lost an engine Come on people this is a terrible app, please review to balance out all of these fake five star ratings. Storm by WU was the best weather app ever, and I gave this app a chance for a long, long time, waiting for it to mature and it has just gotten worse. I’ve never been more sad about a piece of software in my life. 1 star because it works about 20% of the time, because of the baffling amount of patently fake five star reviews, and because I can’t assign a lower score.

Great App though Recent Location Searches Cannot be Cleared. I’ve purchased and used at least twelve other weather apps over the last seven (7) plus years and this app is simply a superior product overall with side-by-side comparisons. That said, with the latest app software update, I am now unable to clear any of the many recent current searched weather locations. When I attempt to slide the location text to clear it, the app now crashes and closes up leaving me to start the weather app process all over again. This has become increasingly frustrating and leaving me considering going back to inferior yet more reliable Weather Bug or the original AccuWeather apps. I’ve removed and reinstalled this app with no success whatsoever when rebooted. I hope that this issue is fixed soon as the number of searched locations is well over twenty (20) and currently populating more every day. I’m sure that this cannot help the overall speed and performance of my less than two (2) years old iPad Pro and less than one (1) year old iPhone 8.

Was Amazing Until it Wasn’t. I’ve been using this app for years, and have enjoyed its very simplistic and user friendly layout compared to most weather apps. I’ve noticed over time though that a lot of features have been moved to being premium only, and that’s fine. But now the most basic feature of all has been made into a premium feature: the 6 hour future radar. This is where I stop using this app and move onto something else. Almost every weather app offers this as a free feature, and I can’t see why this has to be guarded now after years of it being free. I don’t want to be paying for a feature I can get on a different app or even off google for free. Prior to this change, this app has been consistently great and easy to use and I’d recommend it, especially if they every the “premium” lock on the radar. I hope they will rectify their tendency to make things a paid requirement and make this app as wonderful as it has been all these years.

Honky Tonk Hero’s Band weather app. We always rely on this app to Get the weather that’s coming, some of our shows are outside and being able to see 6 hours into the future helps us to know if we need to cancel a gig or let the show go on. We love the feature that allows us to blow up the screen it may look like the rain or storm is going to run right though us, but blowing it up allows us to see that it will actually come within maybe 5 miles of us and turn just before hitting us. In our town that happens more than it don’t. Good app, good service, stays updated to help us keep or change our plans. We love to keep the old country music playing thanks to storm radar we can. As it may sound like a plug it’s not, we are a real band, play live and no, storm radar has not payed us to write a review, or give them a plug in our shows, however we often do. Thank you storm radar. Lead vocals for: HONKYTONK HEROES BAND. Country music with a little spice, from the 50’s to the 90’s

Way worse than the last version. What’s up with this?! Why did you launch a new app with a fraction of the functionality? I can’t find any of the old options I liked in the older version, like the wind arrows, which were actually amazingly accurate. Much worse. Revert back please. The loading is horrendous, especially the tropical storm/hurricane tracks, which are the most critical. It’s basically random as to whether storms will show up on my iPad screen or not. I open the app, then sit and stare at it for several minutes. Sometime none will load, so I zoom the view in and out, and sometimes that eventually works. Sometimes some storms will load, but not others. After all that, I still keep going back to the old version to view the wind arrows (which are my favorite feature, and are gone now), and going through the “OOPS, there’s an upgrade!” Screen, just so I can see where the arrows go into a tight circle, which indicates a hurricane. The arrows are so accurate, last year they predicted hurricanes before any service, or other data did! Bring back the arrows!

Am I missing something? (Updated again). It got better by only a little. Storm Radar is still an inferior app to what it replaced. Several updates to fix bugs and still hasn’t fixed most. App opens up showing Africa and the Eastern Atlantic. Must close the app and then reopen it to connect back with my location and current radar. I use it, but still wish for something better. Exploring other apps. All the comments below still apply. _________________________ The Storm Radar app is supposedly the replacement for the Storm app, which gave a notice of being discontinued May 24. I eventually found a very difficult to read graph of hourly temps and daily forecast. OK maybe for a LARGE display, but too tough to read on typical smartphone screens. I can save favorites of destinations I go for work but then constantly get unwanted weather notices for all of them. Haven’t found out how to turn that off while keeping my home location on. This is still NOT an improvement over the former app. It is a major step backwards. It is not intuitive. It is not easy to use or to read. I have to search for information where the former app gave great info all on one screen. Disappointed in the extreme. I’ve started using local news weather reports rather than turn this thing on. Hanging in there to SEE / HOPE it improves. Giving it the Summer months. If no better, it’s deleted.

Storm Was Better. This app has been stripped of a lot of what made Storm my go-to weather app. In Storm, I could have various locations set across the top so I could see at a glance what the temp was in another city. In Storm, I could get an hourly or daily forecast—extremely useful when traveling. In Storm, I could get specific weather stats like dew point, wind chill, and more. In Storm, I could GET RID OF THOSE ANNOYING ADS!!! In-app ads have the potential to track you or follow you and you would not know it. C’mon, Weather Channel, fix this thing!! Until then, I probably will use other weather apps that give me better information. They are still saying it costs 99¢/month. That is no longer true. It is now $3.99/month—a whopping $48/year. There is no longer a yearly option, either. This is being deleted off my devices now. I will periodically check to see if things have improved, but I doubt it will happen. There are other weather apps out there that easily have similar, if not better, features for a far more reasonable price. It was good while it lasted. :-(

Great basic app made more basic by greed. This app used to be amazing and powerful in a wonderfully minimalistic format before the weather channel stripped it down to the bare minimum. The few features it has is enough for me to continue using the app. It is lite and still provides all the most useful information. However I saw a notification that the greedy weather channel is further stripping the app of features that I can subscribe to in the near future. I do t know what they will remove e from an already sparse app but I may have to switch to another weather app. I used to live the weather channel but the company has become so corporatized and greedy with subscriptions and ads that I prefer to use it as little as possible. I just want to clarify that the app is almost 5 star worthy due to its accuracy, ease of use and it’s concise information format, however the low 2 star rating is for my disdain of the greedy corporatization of the weather channel and it’s ridiculous subscriptions.

Being forced to purchase “Premium” for Average😡. I have used this app for years and until recently have recommended it to many; however, now that some of the normal features have to be paid for, I will be looking for a new app for my weather. In the past, they had a paid version, but now, I can’t even open the app without the welcome screen asking me to upgrade to premium and then the future radar not available without premium. It’s truly unfortunate that the weather channel made this decision when they have so many other methods of paying for this app thru ads at the bottom and truly “Premium” features like layers (which was an option in the past). There may be a win for you long term which is probably where your publicity team is convincing you, but, as for me (and I’m assuming many others), I will go support one of you competitors. I’m highly disappointed…it truly is one of the best weather apps

Was the Great weather app. Moving radar scans, color graphics, 2 weeks forward looking, see hourly forecast for next 48 hours and ability to look at multiple cities. But, about 10 days ago, this app automatically installed a “newer” version that took away my ability to view future radar weather systems moving. It used to show a few hours prior to present time, then the next forecasted 8 hours radar weather systems. Now there is no future radar future unless you pay for a subscription. I deleted this app off of both my iPhone and iPad and installed The weather channel AccuWeather app. It has all the features of this app, but provides 2 hours future radar weather system, and is free, no subscription. The user interface is different, but it only took a half hour to learn how to navigate this app. I don’t like bait and switch

This app is garbage.... I’d just like to go on record as saying how poor a weather app experience this app gives now. I’ve had the “Storm” app for several years (when still under previous ownership) and it was remarkably good, reliable and an overall it provided a great app experience. It stinks now. Not only have you made it where you must pay for premium for less than premium (even basic I’d say) services, the maps are unreliable and it crashes often. This looks like a classic business decision where a product that wasn’t broken and was very solid was traded for a cheaply made counterfeit all for the sake of more profit. I pay for premium versions (as well as standalone) of apps but there NO way I’d give a dime for this product. I feel like what we had in the previous version of Storm was Coke and you’ve tried (like Coke did once) to change the formula. Do you remember “New Coke”? No, you probably don’t. And neither does anyone else. Because it was crap. Be like Coke. Change it back. Make it better, but change it back please.

Total Extortion!!! Don’t waste your $. With this new “update”, which again made this IBM/Weather Channel app even more useless than the original, they now are requiring you to pay for basically everything in the app that has been free for years! I have been a user of this app for years (even after IBM/Weather Channel bought and ruined it) and now they expect people to pay for this garbage app they have created? No Thanks!! ***There are tons more apps that are much better and are free!!*** I have never seen an app update that locked the entire app down and won’t unlock unless you pay for it! This is just infantile GREED AT ITS CORE!! Whoever at IBM/Weather Channel that changed, I’m sorry, RUINED THIS APP really needs to contemplate a career change because I’ve never seen garbage like this...ever. You should be so ashamed of this that you should fire yourself, and take some time off to figure out how you so profoundly messed up a great app. Or, go stick your head in a toilet and flush, because that’s the experience you get with this app since IBM/Weather Channel bought it. You have been warned!

Easy to Understand. Even if you are the person who occasionally glances at the weather, this app presents a lot of what you need to know at face value. I have had this app for well over a year. It wasn’t recent that I purchased the subscription. Please believe me when I tell you that I am not endorsing a paid subscription; that is not what this is. The free version of this app does have limited features that presented enough information to get me by. Once I purchased the subscription, I thought to myself, “Wow! I was missing out on a lot of other things.” Every weather app you see out on the market offers a lot of the same type of information. It shouldn’t surprise you that they all piggyback off each other. What it comes down to is what features are offered; what the cost is and; how the user interprets that data.

Sad to leave. I’ve been using this app for 4+ years to see the weather and the upcoming rain. I live in a tropical area so I find the app very helpful to see the daily rain expectations. I didn’t let it phase me when extreme amounts of ads were added to the main screen eliminating 30% of the screen. But now you have to pay to see future weather? You can only access past hourly radar and what’s currently happening. Which I could truly see by opening my blinds. I’ll have to find a new app that hopefully does what this app used to do. Thank you to the developers for being great. I just can’t bring myself to pay for something like this when the app has made no improvements but continues to try and monetize itself. I understand we all need to make money but making some features that are actually helpful (like the next few hours of rain) free entices the audience to want to pay for other features (like hurricane tracking…etc). Seeing what is currently available does not entice me to want to pay for a full experience and I’ve experienced it before so imagine someone new to your app

Best Storm App Except for the BUGS. The Storm App functionality is awesome. High resolution radar, very easy to use, lightening tracking, storm tracks with timeline, hurricane details and cone map forecasts, and the best part are the alerts. I paid the premium subscription, which is fairly priced, to get the lightening tracking, storm tracks, and alerts. The in-app alerts are awesome. Can set government alerts for any location and severe weather/lightening/rain for your current location. But the bugs are frustrating and it takes IBM who owns TWC who owns Weather Underground who owns the Storm Radar App too long to fix them. Maybe too many layers or lack of focus in a company too big to be responsive. Current issue is that ALERTS arbitrarily turn OFF without warning. This happens many times. Generally every 2 to 3 days (3-4 times a week) that I know of. Sometimes multiple times in the same day. This has been happening for the last 5 weeks, since at least August 8, 2023. I reported this 3 times to the support organization via email with no response. In the past, the wrong alerts were getting sent. They responded to my support email and fixed that within about a month. Prior to that my favorite locations (which also trigger alerts) were arbitrarily disappearing. Support replied to my email saying it was a known problem and was fixed in about a month.

Emails in link in app must go to trash. I’ve been a user of this app for years, mostly in summer to watch for tornadoes and hail. Then they downgraded it and make you pay for it. I paid for the summer at least this year but I’m about to cancel it. I mostly use the storm track details but it doesn’t work. It worked last year and every year before that but now I pay to have it not work. The storm track details won’t scroll. I can’t even get to the hail info. I’ve emailed twice for help but receive NOTHING. They must send them straight to the trash instead of replying. And the search for help topics, another big joke. You can find Covid info there but nothing about how to fix a problem with the app. So not worth it. EDIT: well I’m happy most people have an app that works for them. Me, nothing works. Still paying for it but this is now the 4th time I have written and said what the problems are and I get no reply whatsoever. No help nothing. It worked beautifully when it was free. As soon as I started paying-nothing works. That tells me one thing. All they care about is the money and could care less about any problems.

SO Disappointing. Like all of the other reviews state this app is subpar at best. Doesn’t even deserve one star. I miss, miss, miss the old Intellicast app! The “upgrade” to storm has just steadily gone downhill and now I have to PAY for features that have always been standard features. Additionally 50% of the time when I open my app it is showing the continent of Africa on my screen. I have learned that the app is not functioning at this point because if I touch on the screen the app crashes. Also most of the time when I open the app there is no radar showing. I have to widen my view and then the radar will pop onto the screen. Plus the satellite view is terrible! If there are clouds showing I can’t see them! Only if I widen my view can I see them very faintly. Have tried adjusting the opacity which does nothing. Of course like others I could go on and on. And the few Developer responses on here are BS! It’s 100% about profit. They know how popular this app has been for years and are trying to capitalize on that. Don’t waste your time people!

Awesome weather app features!. Of all the weather apps, Storm Radar really stands out in having awesome features and is 100% weather oriented! Sadly though, over the years, as IBM being owners of the app, greed for money has resulted in many of the good features desired, moved over to the "paid version"! ARG! One should NOT have to be paying $20/year for weather information app on one's Smartphone! While paying is annoying.... value and so many more people would probably be purchasing if the cost was $5/year! Recommend the app? Yes! Recommend paying $20/year for the extended features? No! I ONLY have the paid version currently because there was an $10/year price deal earlier! If there is no deal occuring when I need to renew... will NOT be doing! ARG! May something change in the crazy price structure as people move away to be using other apps instead! Yea! Hahahahaha! O:-)

Miss the OLD WUnderground. I don’t usually write app reviews, but this one is a long time coming. I used to love Weather Underground, and used them exclusively. Ever since The Weather Channel acquired WU, this app (and the desktop site for the record) has steadily decreased. After nearly a decade of loyalty, you’ve lost this subscriber. (1) TWC separated what was once ONE SINGLE APP, into two apps, the spinoff being this Storm app. Ok fine, I thought, this will help focus on severe weather. (2) Then it got glitchy and started crashing when trying to view the radar in future mode. (3) Then they take the awesome storm tracks feature from the free app and make it a premium-only setting. WTH?! That was like the one advantage this app had over others. (4) Finally, today was the last straw. I get a river flood alert in the push notifications. Opened the app and what does it always do when you try to get more info? It crashes. After three dIfferent iPhones...IT. ALWAYS. CRASHES. I’m done. THIS APP COULD BE ALL A PERSON HAS IN A SEVERE WEATHER EVENT. At the very least, it should not crash on us!

Hoping for more. This app, which replaced Storm, looks pretty cool with the theming. Unfortunately, that’s about all I have good to say about it. It has just a fraction of Storm’s features and customizability. I sorely miss seeing more details like dewpoint, cloud cover, and pressure in the daily/hourly forecast graphs. And those graphs need to be full screen instead of trimmed down to fit just three days/six hours at a time. The map options are drastically reduced from Storm’s, too. I could go on and on about what this app is missing in comparison. It just baffles me that they removed the best weather app (Storm) before releasing those features in this app. I’m not sure who this app is targeting. On the one hand, there is the great future radar, but some of the forecast details we weather aficionados use to understand what’s coming and how to plan are missing. Hopefully this is just an interim, growing pains gap (akin to Apple Final Cut Pro’s 7 to X), and the missing features will work their way into subsequent versions. In the mean time, this app doesn’t really offer much, so I will have to use a combination of weather apps and websites to piece together the full picture.

One Big Flaw. 5 MARCH 22 The app is now working and showing the Storm Attributes. At least many of them. Glad it's back to functioning well. Thanks to the Storm Radar team. I had the previous editions of this app and liked it very much. There are many great features of is app but the “storm attribute”tables opened by clicking on the cell icons were the best for me. There was an abundance of information available on them and I didn’t need to spend a lot of time going from radar to Meso analysis sites to get the info. So I was happy to this version. After I downloaded the app (onto my iPad Air 2 with OS 12.4.1) I immediately opened a cell icon and encountered a major problem. The attributes table opened, for a second, and then disappeared. Now without this feature I can get what is available free on most other radar shows apps. I am waiting and hoping this bug will be fixed in an update but I am not holding my breath. As a major feature I would have thought it would have been a priority. I am very disappointed! UPDATE: 29 OCT 2019 After sending 5 or 6 emails & Feedbacks I have not heard one word from anyone. Not one response. They have my money and that’s apparently all that matters. The only reason I use this app is the cell attributes tables. And I cannot use them at all cause they won’t open longer than a second. It’s sad when they can’t even try to do something about a problem. I was disappointed up above...now I’m angry.

Disappointed. I’ve used this app for years and loved it. I’ve recommended it to everyone I know. BUT something changed a few months ago after an update and now every single time I open the app it takes me to Africa. I live in Georgia. There is never a time now that it takes me to my location on the first time of opening the app. So I have to close it out and then open it back up again. My husband also has the app and his opens up to Africa as well and when you hit the location icon it takes you to our location but you can’t pull up any forecast information or see the radar or anything. It’s just blank. So no matter what you do you have to close it out and open it back up again. We’ve both tried deleting and reinstalling it. I even went on and paid for the pro version just to get it to stop doing what it was doing and if anything it got worse when I upgraded. I’ve sent messages to the developer (or whoever the feedback goes to) 3 different times and have yet to get any type of response. I’m so disappointed because I have loved this app for so many years and relied on it to keep me informed of any severe weather at home and also where our kids in college are and now I’m trying to find another app that even compares to the way this one used to work.

One of the best. I too used this app for years before the Weather Channel bought it. I also wondered why they felt the need to strip it down and change everything. However, that was then, nowadays it is arguably the best storm tracking and info app on IOS. The detailed information you get about the storm when you have Storm Tracks turned on is fantastic. All you have to do is to touch the storm center icon and a screen of probably 2 dozen attributes about the storm pops up. As I have quite a few rental cars on my lot, I find the hail percentage and hail size the most interesting. With that, though, since the last IOS update (I think) the pop up of the storm detail analysis doesn’t work. It pops up and immediately goes back down. Simultaneously, on the right side, a white rectangle that covers the entire right 1/4 of the screen pops up and goes right back down. I have tried it on my iPad Pro 12.9, my iPad Mini 4 and my iPhone 8+ and it fails the same way on all three. I have tried disabling ad blockers, changing font sizes and literally a dozen other tests but not one has made the slightest change. I hope this is something they can fix quickly as it is their best feature and the main reason I pay the yearly subscription.

Remember when...?. Remember when this application used to be hands down the best detailed weather tracking application one could have a smart phone? Remember when you could track an individual storm’s direction, wind velocity, cloud Atlas, windshear, and other detailed information so as to predict the storms severity relative to your specific location? And, Remember when it was completely free? I don’t mean this basic unintelligible version that exists now,... that you’re forced to get whenever you buy a new phone, or because they shut down support for the previous version. And to the developers… Don’t patronize us with the fact that you charge a subscription to provide a more intuitive ad free experience. We had that already that (ad banners were minuscule at most) and you decided since you bought the rights you could take that away from us. I realize that legally yet immorally, you can. But you didn’t even make the app better, you made it completely and appallingly worse. We prefer the original app. Give it back!

Great App. Consistently gives the pertinent information needed to make decisions regarding actions to take to protect the ones you love. Many other Apps repeatedly interview news caster to news caster trying to validate their projections and opinions. I like the latest facts. Good or bad we know it’s real and valuable information. Your App shows unbiased facts backed up by real data from reputable sources. Thank you for staying true. Far too many “News Outlets”seem to want to sensationalize what’s happening even to the extent of intervening their own reporters until they get across a message no matter how slanted it may be. Please keep up the great job of getting the real information out to as many folks as possible. Thanks again for keeping things real, relatable, reliable current and on point. Sincerely LS

Sadly not what it used to be. I downloaded this app about 5 months ago and it was amazing to use. I used it almost every day and had some very useful and insightful information that I like to look at when viewing the weather and the radar. Recent updates have since stripped away all of the functionality that I used to enjoy in favor of a bogus $20 annual fee which wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t additionally extorted by a completely useless app for those who don’t wish to pay. I know this company knows how to do premium — the main The Weather Channel app introduced a premium program a couple months back as well, but instead of forcing users to pay by excluding features they already used, new and exciting features were made available on top of the free experience if they so wished to use them. I don’t understand why the same company could find it so hard to just do the same thing across all their apps. I’ll be sure to telling the people whom I recommended this app to to uninstall it if they haven’t already made the good decision to use the storage this app occupies for something actually worth keeping.

Cluttered and counter intuitive. This app was great in its previous form. Now it’s an annoying mess. It’s got so much information in it, but the UI is horrible. It covers the map and only gives a tiny window to view. How many different ways to I have to turn off the animation of the Map? There are so many warning larders turned on that I can’t see THE MAP. I’ve turned them all off and there’s still several on that can’t be deactivated. The only good thing about this app is the lightning strike warnings. The previous incarnation of this app was still better at it though. When I’m trying to find the weather conditions I want to know now, not after if turned off a bunch of layers, then stopped the reader animation, and pressed the now button 3 times to get it to the current radar, then accidentally changed the location of the forecast by putting my finger on the side of the screen. This app has become a total mess. You can have all the information possible, but it’s useless because the UI is so bad that I do to want to use the app.

IBM Downgraded Weather App. Don’t waist your time with this ‘upgrade’ —IBM’s ‘new’ Storm Radar app is sadly disappointing and wholly inferior to the original Weather Underground Storm App. It’s a shame to see that IBM purchased the Weather Channel and Weather Underground with the long term intent of implementing dated technology, removing superior competition, and providing decreased value. The original Storm app had easy access to everything one needs in a weather app, with the ‘new’ Storm Radar Weather app by IBM one would have to use multiple weather apps to even get anywhere near the performance of the original and still they would be lacking. The original WU Storm App helped my family weather Hurricane Harvey and saved us once from running directly in to the path of a tornado. Sad to think that IBM would purposely take away the public’s choice and access to an app that helped so many during Hurricane Harvey and could help countless others in the future. It’s also sad to see that someone is trying to raise the ratings on this app with all fake 5 Star one line reviews rather than fix the app’s issues or bring back the original Storm app features — in one month the rating has gone from 2.9 to 4.4 yet nothing has changed with the app.

Radar Temperature and rain gauge. I’m a Weather Freak. I like the rain and despise the heat. I like to know how to dress for later in the day. I have several pay Weather apps and some I never upgraded. By far this is the most accurate app I’ve seen. I have complete trust in what the weather is going to be and this is the app I go to. The future cast portion is about 90 percent on target and the weather is right on the money. If You are looking for a reliable app this is the one You want. Weather Personnel is the only profession that you can be wrong fifty percent of the time and still keep your job. You don’t have to worry with this app. It’s between 85 and 95 percent reliable. The models they use and the Weather person do a fantastic job at predicting the weather. If You want a reliable weather app look no farther. This is the only one You will need

Why did you break a great app?. I loved the old “STORM” App but this replacement falls far short. Cons: 1. Adds at bottom of screen take up valuable screen space. No option to buy no adds premium like old App. 2 Controlling layers is not convenient. Requires too many taps. 3 Can’t turn off custom layers to access a single layer. A single tap should be able to turn off all customers layers so you can examine any one layer in detail. 4 Storm Tracts layer does not work very well. Haven’t seen a storm track on any very large intense storm. When storm tracts do show up, they do not show a direction cone! This is important PLEASE FIX IT! 5 legend fly-out does not work half the time. 6 Please explain what the Favorites fly-out is all about. Doesn’t make any sense to me right now. 7 A touch on the screen to ID ant colored weather alerts just changes the weather information location. Very disturbing. 8 No frontal boundary and high low pressure area layer is available. This is important in examining the weather. Especially important to pilots looking at flying weather. Pros: 1 None that I can think of. The old “Storm” App was far superior.

Extremely helpful. I live in Florida where the weather changes frequently. Especially in the fall and winter. One day it’s 80 degrees and the next day it’s 40 degrees. In the summer, severe storms, lightning and high winds can ruin a day. So it is imperative that we know exactly what is coming. Hurricanes can be deadly. High heat and humidity can cause heat exhaustion. So, I am so grateful to have found this app. It is very useful, informative and most importantly….accurate. I need this accuracy to keep me and my family safe. I will give you an example…my son plays football for his school, the app warned me there were severe storms coming in 4 hours. At the time there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful day. I texted the coach and warned him of the impending storm. He said he was not going to cancel the game because everything looked fine. I even took a screenshot of the radar the app showed me of what was coming. He still refused to cancel. BOY…was he wrong. Game was canceled halfway through. Torrential downpour, lightning and tornado warnings. He looked like a floppy and soggy wet dog out there. My kid had a great time playing in the rain and mud… his coach…not so much. When we got home, I sent him a link to your site. Maybe he will listen next time. Thanks for creating such a wonderful app.

Lowered rating. Pretty good but why does it lose the most immediate radar info?. New version severely limited functionality. The whole purpose is to see what storms are coming. But now all future views are premium only. This app is now useless unless you are a weather historian. Old review: Pretty good app. Easy to use, clean interface, reliable data. But over and over I’ll be tracking the history of a front moving through and when it gets to NOW the data disappears and the map is blank. It stays blank for several time slices and then (sometimes) the future radar prediction appears. This happens a lot and makes the app a lot less useful because the time period you most want to see is NOW and the time immediately following. But that gets blanked out. And this is not irregular. It happens a lot. Kinda makes the app not too useful when boating, hiking or doing anything outdoors! Update. Did it again. Tracking a storm coming in and right at my location after NOW time, the storm disappears. Your future predictions are horrible

Sub par at best.. I had storm for a very long time before this. Paid the $10 for it years ago. Loved it enough to move to the subscription service when they dropped that. I gave this a chance but I refuse to even pay $.99 for the ad free version of this. A few of the issues I have with this app: the touch location feature is horrible I find myself accidentally clicking a location while moving around the radar. The radar centric version with the expandable bottom banner was wonderful over this. Also, why are advisories different colors from the standard! This is probably the biggest complaint, I see a red box around my country and worry it’s a tornado warning... it isn’t. I miss the markups on the radar you could do on storm, you could measure the distance and use this to predict when the front would arrive. Used to love the storm tracks but now they just don’t mesh well, and guess what when I try and tap the storm track to get more information I end up changing the floater box location because it’s easy to accidentally tap a location on the map rather than the track. Lastly, the ability to use local radars was great! I loved being able to look at the velocity track and find the hook when there was a nearby tornado. All in all what was an extremely user friendly and advanced weather app has become another “simplistic” “pretty” ui for the masses, next they will push out an update to include a news feed like the weather channel.

A Strong Storm Arising. Like many of you, at first glance I thought what a letdown and a waste the new Storm App is compared to the older version. Why would anyone put out a newer version that is inferior to their previous product? The new Storm Radar is an excellent app once you learn to navigate the new system. Just pulling down on the temperature banner provides you with much more in-depth weather data, probably more than the average person cares to see. Wondering about the weather in another place? Just tap on the map and the weather banner for that location appears, no need to search the city name. Need more detail, just slide downward on the banner and get your information. Monitoring storm systems? Add Storm Tracker in the Radar layers section at the bottom of the page. This will provide you Storm tracking data and by tapping on the storm marker, you will be provided all of the storm detail utilized by the meteorologists! The radar layers at the bottom of the page allows you to customize the data and alerts that you wish to receive. My daily job is heavily impacted by the weather and storms in general. Also, in my duties as a volunteer firefighter I monitor and depend upon accurate data for fire conditions and tracking storms. The Storm Radar tool is one of the top apps on my phone today. Load it and play with it to discover the many options available to monitor the weather the way you choose.

There’s always something .... As others have said, this WAS the best weather app available ... until Weather Channel bought it. There was no need to “improve” upon the best, and they didn’t. We are full-time RVers who MUST HAVE accurate weather information in order to keep ourselves out of danger. I never feel that I can trust Storm Weather now like I used to. For instance, I just spent two solid days trying to decide if I should do a guided nature photo shoot today for $200 non-refundable. Two days I looked at your app and chose Tuesday over Monday for this outing because Monday’s forecast was cloudy, cool and quite windy all day whereas Tuesday was partly sunny, a little warmer and lighter winds. On Tuesday morning, I woke up to rain. After two days of checking the app and feeling confident that Tuesday would be better. Also, when I look at your app, at the top is the symbol for fog; just below it says 42% chance of rain; then there is a heavy fog advisory; then when you look at the hourly forecast it only shows 15% chance of rain for right now. Yet it is raining lightly but steadily. I’m so done with the way you cover all your bases. I need a RELIABLE weather tool. The last thing I need is to be in the path of a tornado and not know it because your app is telling me otherwise.

Very Nice App. So far this app has done a good job with keeping me safe here at home. It has a nice radar, satellite, and other layers that are useful for forecasting the weather. Another thing that I like about this app is that it has regional current weather and forecasts. The developers are doing a great job at keeping this app neat, but they are actually adding useful features and layers in there. My salute to the developers for that! The few problems that this app has is that in the future radar mode it has even the tiniest rain clouds becoming monstrous storms, I mean growing really big, even though is it obvious that most of the time, the atmospheric conditions are not favorable for the development of that. Additionally, the radar in the future mode is make up of smoothed large pixels. Hopefully Storm Radar will fix those problems. Something that I think would be useful for this app would be to add things like local radars and with them also add basic reflectivity and basic velocity. Thank you.

Fix the premium acknowledgment. 5.2.23 Update: Customer service reached out upon seeing my initial review, and recommended I completed uninstall the app from my phone, and then make sure to install version 3.15.1. I did. The issue with not recognizing my premium subscription still exists. Bummer too, because uninstalling and reinstalling caused me to lose all my saved places, settings, etc… that I had to redo. Wouldn’t have been a big deal if it fixed the problem, but alas, I still get pushed to upgrade 90% of the time. Love this weather app, and when they changed it from fully free to paying to get more functionality, I paid my $20. However, it’s hit or miss with whether the app recognizes I paid for premium or not. I’d say 90% of the time it thinks I haven’t, and on the seldom occasion, it automatically loads my premium version without me having to restore purchases. Sometimes when trying to restore purchases, it says it can’t connect to the App Store. The content itself is great as always was, but the annoying, ongoing inconsistencies with having paid for the upgrade, moved it down to two stars for now. I hope the developers get that fixed. It’s been doing this ever since they went to the paid model.

It’s my main weather app. New updated review: 2024. I have used them a long time. Stuff had changed. Not all for the better. But they are still the best app I’ve found to quickly and easily navigate map layers. Decent load times even with poor signals. Fairly accurate, or as much as weather can be. Wish they would add a few functions, but overall solid app -a weather loving geographer Old review from few years back: I hate what this app has become. This was my absolute favorite go to app. It was data strong and accurate. Now it’s a crashing broken shell of its former self. I had paid for the app back when it was the old developers. It was so much better then. Now most content is a much higher and reoccurring fee. But the app crashes constantly. Stuff doesn’t load. So much of what made this app phenomenal is gone or changed. So now I’m looking for something else after years of nearly exclusively using this app. Bummer.

Nick. Use it all the time.....awesome

Snow weather. I love it’s the best so far always

Mr. Very accurate reporting

New ver. removes free features. Very disappointing and very greedy! Free features replaced with expensive monthly payments.

Storm Tracker. Now you have to pay to view, it’s useless! Don’t bother downloading!

Massive. Great app

Jon. Great app

No. was great until the premium feature was added no fuss tho im sure i could easily find another app for free

Useful rain predictions. Easy to use but only as good as the BOM prediction which is often wrong

Top accuracy!!. This app is just amazing!

Loved it until it became a subscription. I have used this for years and today I open the app to find I can no longer see the weather movement for the coming hours only what has already happened. $30 a year is a big jump from $0, I would have happily paid a reasonable amount for this app.

Costly…. The app seems really good, works ok. It’s just a shame it’s so expensive. Has not got a one payment option, instead it drains your bank account monthly or weekly. If it had a one payment only option at an affordable price I would buy it, but no way am I going to keep paying those current costs. Other weather apps are far more affordable.

Below average. What was once a good app is now below average and untrustworthy. It was good for the not always accurate future radar that you had ads to watch but then they got you to update the app after there seeming to be a glitch and removed the future radar by putting a go premium button over the top of the radar slider. There were no notifications to this happening and it was done in a way that was not transparent. I will be deleting this app now and using other better weather apps. Customer service does not care about this.

Rain radar forecast. Just installed the latest update and rain radar forecast has been removed. Only access for paid subscribers now. Would have been nice if the Developer of the app would have advised that this function would be removed once the new update was uploaded.

Good app but cannot family share this app. Would give it a 5 star if you could share with Apple family settings. It's very disappointing

Accurate and informative. Excellent

Rubbish. The new version of this app is rubbish. Tool bar is all over the main screen and bright white. Very distracting. I’ll wait to see if this rubbish improves to sign up for the premium package. Other wise I’ll send my money elsewhere. There are plenty of weather apps out there

Rain. Please send some of the above!!!

Weather radar. Good app.

Crashes. The app crashes every time, you should fix this bug

Never works. It never works never holds memory

Storm Radar is easy to use.. Good app.

Great app for travellers. Updates quickly, gives useful information when travelling places and checking cloud coverage and forecasts, easy to use

Bell Qld Australia. I am happy with the app but your weather is from DALBY which is 400 meters lower and 40 kilometres south We have a local weather station that was upgraded last Wednesday to the latest technology Temps Humidity Barometer Rainfall Due point Uv index Solar luminous level sun and moon Your temp is always wrong along with the wind and wind speed The station uploads to Weather Underground WOW Weathercloud Thanks Tom

Accurate forcaste. Easy to use and clean layout I find it accurate in my location.

Wind Speed. You should also have knots

Bruce. This is a fantastic app, full of up to date weather information nicely laid out.

Not 5.0 out of 5!. Why does this app show a rating 5.0 out of 5 when many reviewers are giving it one or two stars?

Very informative. Get app to check both local and worldwide rainfall.

Weather radar maps. Very good app very informative quick to check forecast for traveling.👍

Used to be 5 star. They now charge a lot for the predictive radar, a feature that used to be free. Too much surcharge for Australia.

Storm Radar. Great App for Aviation

Steven. Very accurate

AWESOME. Easy to follow-accurate forecasts

Weather essential app. Great for winter travel in USA

StormRadar is awesome. Best weather radar I’ve ever used, simply the Best out there 👍🏾

CAN OFTEN BE WRONG. Many times the storms and TIMES this app show just don’t happen, .

Best rain forecast. Great accuracy for rain - I’ve used most of the apps here and this one excels with rain predictions. 5 star 💥

Nice. Goes ok

Storm Radar is accurate. Clean graphics and easy to read.

Great weather app. This app gives a great weather service in real time. Only been using it for the last week (February 2019) but really happy with it so far.

Storm Radar. Always rely on this app and can say always it happens.

Storm Radar. Storm radar lets you see the bad weather approaching and can be a help. To know in advance ,.

Not bad except for BUG. I’m unable to set my location permanently with this app so it keeps opening with my old location 1800km away which is useless. No matter how many times I delete the old location, it remains as the default location. Otherwise pretty good. Be great if they didn’t have flashing ads.

Reliable. An App we’ll worth having for those who benefit from following weather patterns at different locations in many countries.

Love this app!. One of the best weather apps. Only down side is it doesn’t have a windstream layer like the old app used to. If it had I would have given 5 stars.

New version. Less functions but you can get premium. Well done devs, give us less and expect to upgrade to premium to get some of these back

Good solid app. This is a good app, I have tried a few and this one seems to be the best, nice radar, and good options too.

Mostly accurate. Useful app predicting rain density over several hours ahead. Usually gets it right to the nearest quarter hour.

Storm Radar. Excellent for tracking rain and storms in the area! I love it 5 Star

100%. Love this accurate AF

Storm Radar. Incredibly accurate

March 2024. Seem broken most of the time. Just get ‘label, label label’ all the time. The odd time it works, then it works well!

Only real good if you pay extra!. Time span for running it used to show progression of a storm system in hours, not a few minutes. There are better free apps.

Unstable. This app locks up and quits regularly on me. Pretty frustrating.

Awesome radar app. As a professional pilot I rely on this app for pre-flight planning.

What happened. They redid the site and decided to charge for extras. I don’t mind that part because others sites charge. I will be deleting this app. First the menu for upgrades is permanently on the side blocking information. I don’t see how to remove them if I decide not to pay. Secondly, the app has become extremely unreliable. More than half the time nothing loads. I have to open a more reliable app to double check. This app is a waste of time and certainly not worth any extra $$$

Very basic. The app is great, but very basic, completely lacking in the detail of its predecessor, with no highs and lows, no weather fronts, no jet streams, no wind details, and less local detail.

Great app. I wish more simple options were free otherwise it is my go to weather app

Get something else.... Saves the city multiple times and then you can’t delete them.

Weather App. Since downloading the updated app yesterday, I can’t get into the system any more. I just get some silly verbiage re privacy laws, I can’ get out of the legal mumble jumble and back into the weather screen showing local weather and radar. D......

Storm radar. Wonderful app that works really well.

Not as advertised. The app says that in the free version you can see 2 hours of future radar; however the app does not show this. It stops at now.

Great app for weather. Great app although the storm radar is now limited in time but still use it everyday for weather forecast.

App crashes/Bad update. Don’t like the newest version. Crashes frequently, doesn’t save custom settings, but it won’t delete recent cities viewed. Why did you ruin a good thing?

Review. It was awesome until you try and make us go premium

Storm. Give me back my weather underground any day.

Original app was perfect.. The original app was perfect. Why change it?? Now I use a mixer of weather apps to get the info I want.

Storm Radar Rocks!. I love this App!

Storm Radar. Disappointing that you now have to pay to get the full forecast

Weather app. This is very handy to have if you are planning to travel. It will give you current conditions and a look at what might develop in the future. Great for winter travel. In

Have to pay now. Radar forecast used to be free but now you need to pay for upgrade. Deleting the app now.

Storm radar. The best app ever

Inflation or greed?. It would seem I feel the same as many others re the removal of features from the regular version and charging users an extremely high monthly rate to regain access to Future Radar. Good bye, there are others who will provide me with what we want. Lew

Scam App. Don’t pay for this, use the FREE Instant Weather instead. No mention anywhere in the description that *all* future radar is behind a paywall. Pointless to have an app that doesn’t provide any forecast.

Good graphics. I enjoy the different colours during a rainfall. Also when lightening strikes in my area. 😀

Cost. It was much better when it was free.

My Goto Weather Radar App. This is a great radar app! I really like that it is easy to see incoming weather at a glance. It also shows weather radar displays from around the globe.

Accurate. I generally find that the probable weather is generally the actual outcome and accords with the confidence level indicated in the forecast.

Love it. Great app. Helpful and accurate!

Terrible!. Please give me my old Storm back!

Gone to the dogs.. This used to be a great app. Still a good one.

Dependable. This weather app is accurate 100 % of the time !

Storm Radar app. We like this weather app. Enjoy the forecast info, and the radar info. Liked the old version that had past history, plus 4 hour future radar info. This new update was a step back for us, family and friends who used the prior app. Would like the app to be changed to what we had previously!!

Storm Radar is Amazing!. Great App!! Use it to move yachts around with the owners onboard to keep them in the sun. I love it and they love me for it👍🏼

New storm. Where did the wind arrows go?! Really don’t like this new app!

Good app. Works well and very accurate. 👍🏻👍🏻

Great app. This is a very useful app. Every time when I need to track a storm I can see if we will get rain or snow and the predictions are very accurate.

Would be great if the radar actually worked.... Blank map does no good.

Where is the airport database?. This app used to be good until they dropped the global airport database...ICAO/IATA? Bring it back...”everything good gets canceled!” Also, the Weather Underground version had so many good features...new version by Weather Network is literally crap!!

Great. Good app

Very Helpful. Use it for work, boating and travel. Great tool.

Storm radar. Wow, slap in the face! Now you want money, not surprising as the whole world got greedy all of a sudden. Sorry not paying as I will get weather elsewhere. It is a shame as you had the best app and it should remain as it was. I guess it’s the greedy world we live in, too bad

Colez. Always works well. Fast and accurate.

Detail. I really like the details and range of information.

Used to be the best weather app. Now one of the worst. I will most likely be deleting it

Very reliable and user friendly. This has been my go to app for real-time weather . It just works.

Bad Move. Not as good as it use to be. I no longer need this app. Removing future animation did it a for me. I use Accu Weather and Weather Underground now.

Problems have cropped up with the latest version.. The latest version of this app has created problems and emails to support have gone unanswered. First, I purchased an annual plan to add the premium features such as add free and more sophisticated radar features, but the app will not enable those features despite my verifying the subscription and even uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Second, the hourly display does not work properly. It gives a blank screen initially, but upon scrolling to the left, you do get a display of hourly conditions, but this is devoid of any info as to which day is being displayed. Finally I find it disappointing that there is no option to display so-called “real-feel” in any aspect of this app. If these components were to be fixed I would give five stars to the app, since the rest of the app gives a great display.

Not worth the memory. Storm Radar isn’t the worst weather app but it’s also far from the best... the only reason I haven’t deleted it yet is that it has potential and I keep hoping they will upgrade the features to match their claims. The biggest blunder they have is there is no way of setting minimums of what is considered a storm so basically if a storm watcher reports anything happening within 300 miles it shows as a storm even though the storm track is nowhere near the users location and is unwanted information. This means is anyone reporting reports a brief sprinkle it’s considered a storm and it pops up the same as if there was a imminent flood situation. The other problem that needs immediate attention is it is not intuitive as to how to set it up. There ought to be a how-to manual manual built in at least until they figure how to make it general public friendly...

More features for free years ago. While the app and the data can be amazing (for a hefty fee), the free capabilities of this app are now so few (compared to 5+ years ago since I began using Storm) that it is nearly useless compared to similar competitor apps. There is one single option for radar (not HD) - which doesn’t allow you to turn off future casting (who needs or uses that?). You cannot observe satellite cloud cover, infrared, or anything useful for observing and understanding the weather. Since I had been so used to having access to the now-“premium” functions of the app for years, I started paying the subscription to use in Texas on my new iPhone. While it was helpful to follow endless tropical systems last year, I’ve recently moved to Hawaii and the lack of data integrated into the Pacific is disappointing to say the least. There is no GOES data. It basically cuts off right at Hawaii. Not sure where to go for my weather needs now. Ugh.

Best weather app. I recommend storm radar app due to its accuracy and other information bout daily forecast. I’m an avid angler and having an accurate, lot of extra helpful information weather app makes a big difference to my day knowing the areas on where the rain is gonna be, when it is going to cleared out, etc... my favorite feature of the app would be the temperature, I can check on the app the water temp. Before heading out to the water and with that info I would have the idea on how deep the species of fish I’m trying to catch that day. You have the option to pay for the extra features of the app if you prefer to have all the necessary information you want to know for example; winter storms, temperatures, tropical storms, etc...

Poor and unnecessary replacement. Storm was a beautiful and elegant weather app. This is a hot mess. Where do I begin? With Storm, I could easily move among my saved locations, as opposed to this "improvement" that has me tapping all over the place trying to get back to the location I want. Storm had easy-to-read tiles that gave as much or as little info as one wanted, including a tile with alert information and graphics that showed what the alert was for. Then there's the super useful lightning radar. It even had a handy dandy thermometer graphic that showed the historic, current, and record highs and lows, a feature, hard as I've tried, I cannot find on any other weather app. PLEASE, PLEASE being back the old Storm. Until then, I'll be scrolling through the four other weather apps I have along with a bookmarked almanac for historical data. This app is not worth the space on my phone. Consider putting effort into fixing the app instead of writing all those fake 5-star reviews.

Inferior in every way to what it used to get. For the weather nerds, this used to be the pinnacle of radar apps. Smooth interface and radar, accurate storm tracks, information about the types of storms in your area as well as dizzyingly specific data detailing what they contain; then the weather channel, who I normally love, got their grubby little hands on everything and just made it another bare bones radar app; I thought I’d wait a few years and see if they realized the errors of their ways and fix what they broke but no, not only did they leave it broken and stripped of everything that made it unique, they brought some of the features back and stuck them behind a paywall. Not only is this insulting as someone who loved this app, what is used to be for free, but as a human being with loved ones. You deserve to know the dangers that surround you and your family without having to pay for them.

Old app was better. Update: After reading all the bogus 5 star reviews, I downgraded my review. Compared to the old app, this is almost a zero. The current weather for my location is usually off, weather channel always uses an airport that is 25 miles away across a reservoir for data, then applies it to the town 12 miles away from me, and gives me the same data as both of those. Weather underground used to have data that more closely matched the readings we were receiving on site. The nearby highway weather station on 511 is much better at current conditions. Previous: The weather alerts are meaningless in this app. Instead of real time and real details, an alert will state something like “four minutes ago”; it stays that way even if it has been hours. The old app used to state a time and a quantity or value, such as inches of precipitation, mph of wind, and so on. Also, the notifications don’t show up in the app, only in your Notification Center.

Money For Critical Information. I must say I got spoiled having the best weather app available and it was FREE! In 2011, I was awakened by an approaching storm at 12:30 am. I jumped up, looked at my trusty Storm Radar map, saw a tornadic vortex indicated just in time to seek shelter before a large oak crashed into the spare bedroom. Two weeks later we had a repeat as we cowered in the crawl space below the garage. I’d come to really appreciate the information the app provided. Then Storm’s business model changed to a subscription based service. Initially there we a few critical function that quit working. I brought those problems to the developer’s attention and sent messages in app to the support staff. Well, I’m still a subscriber because they brought all the functionality I’d been used to back to the app. I count on the information I get through Storm and it’s proved to be reliable. I’m in for the long haul.

Terrible when compared to Org STORM APP. Having been in Aviation meteorological weather forecasting since 1969, I can say beyond any argument whatsoever this replacement app to the original “Storm app” is absolutely terrible! It’s hard to navigate, it’s screen is anything but pleasant to look at, it navigates very slowly, it does not give nearly the same amount of weather reporting stations, and so on and so on and so on! I just cannot fathom why they (weather channel group) would have taken The original Storm app and could have ever thought it’s replacement they have was equal to or better to the Original Storm app. I wish there ego was such that they would realize this and go back to the original Storm app in it’s entirety. In other words, what they have now is just terrible at very best. I truly miss the original Storm app and on a professional level it would serve them much better by bringing it back. I simply cannot express that enough! Please, please, please bring the original Storm app back on line!

Needs some tweaks to match the original storm app. Update July 10, 2019 New version now requires a paid subscription to see weather alerts on the map. They did not work for me in the previous version so not going to pay and not know if they work now - maybe they do? I would think having the basic weather alert location on the map would be a base feature. Time to look for a new app or just use the NOAA web site - which is the source of most all weather info. Latest version does not seem to show the alert areas on map. Alerts are listed when you happen to select a location, but you cannot see what area is covered. I have toggled all the options and even reinstalled the app. There is also some lag when should the radar data. This might be network related as sometimes it does seem to work. Other time I have to zoom in or out for it to trigger a fetch of the data. Previous review: Most of the features seem to be here that were in the older Storm app - which was my go-to weather app. Some things are missing but maybe I just cannot find them: Personal weather stations - on map and get details - i have my own station on weather Underground and would like to see what the weather is at home. Cloud cover % in the future chart - used to be with precipitation % - I used this to know if it was going to be a good night for star watching

No ability to save custom map settings?. I've tried many weather apps trying to find one that is simple, clean, and provides high quality weather data. My favorites have been this one and the Weather Underground app. Weather Underground was my staple app until I found this one, and this is my new go-to weather app for radar, daily, and hourly weather information. My favorite feature is the ability to set custom map overlays for viewing radar, temperature, weather alerts, etc, including the ability to re-order the overlays. However, when I close and re-open the app, the activated overlays and the order of those overlays is not maintained. It would be an even better app if the custom map overlays and the order of those overlays was maintained after closing and reopening the app.

Ruined a great App. When this was weather underground there was much better data. You could see weather fronts storm tracks as well as many other great data points. Once the weather channel took over they took away most of this functionality. I submitted many requests to bring back the features from the original app. Recently they have taken another step backwards and now they charge for basic functionality like viewing satellite. Don’t waste your time with this as the standard weather channel app provides more and better data free. If you want extra data points look at the Accuweather app. The main reason I have removed this app is because the old weather underground app still allows for the ability to see fronts and satellite. Storm tracking was nice and I would not be opposed to paying for it, but it is disappointing that all of the features that once made the app excellent are removed or now you have to pay for them.

April 2020 “Update” Is A Lie.... As of the April 2020 update, almost all of the features we have been using for free since the apps creation have been removed. Storm track, lightning layers, Etc... are now only available in the premium version. One of the things that has made this app so great was the fact that it had functionality available only in premium versions of its competitors. I understand if the Weather Channel wants to charge for these services. BUT to remove them furtively from current users under the guise of a so-called “update” during a global pandemic is unethical at best. I suppose the Weather Channel expected it users to be so desperate that they would be willing to pay the required $36/ year ransom just to get the previously free functionality back. Not me. I have been considering upgrading to the premium version for some time, but if this is the way the company is going to operate, I’ll take my business to a more principled competitor.

Good Weather App. I have been using this app for several years. It went through an owner change and usability got worse for a little while. I have other weather apps, but I must say, this is the app I open most due to its user friendly radar. Maybe it’s just me, but dark sky which IMO is more accurate with up to the minute radar, is just hard to eye. I really like the graphics much better on Storm Radar. I just tracked a thunderstorm that passed through our area yesterday, and I have to say, I got the best information from Storm Radar even though the radar lagged a few minutes behind the actual rain at my house. The user friendliness on the radar and “predicting” a storm path based on the radar loop continues to sell me on this app. You may just want to give it a try.

Nowhere near as good as its predecessor. UPDATE 2: Why don’t these people get it? After a year plus of terrible reviews, they STILL don’t understand. Evidently the pointy-hair boss in Dilbert is running the ship. This app is crap! UPDATE: And the latest update wants you to pay $0.99 per month for an ad-free experience??? They must be joking or out of their minds. Why do they think people will pay to suffer through a lousy app experience with limited functionality just because it doesn't have annoying pop-up ads any more? It is an INFERIOR app and will still be inferior without ads. The no-longer-supported Storm app was WAY better. No surface winds or jet stream flows in this one. No maps showing front locations and types. This is NOT an improvement! Your responses say you will be working to make this the best radar app. How 'bout aspiring to make it the best all-around WEATHER app like the old Storm was. And hurry! Seems like you will be losing customers fast if you don't.

I rely on this app as part of my job. I do outside sales, so weather factors heavily into my work. I’ve used several weather apps over the years. I have found the Storm Radar app is absolutely the best weather app to be used when accuracy and even the TIME of weather events occurring is important. Notably, they stay on top of their product to ensure it always works, and they often add additional features that are very useful. Every few months I take a look at other weather apps, but none compare to Storm. I’ve been using it for years and when I show it to others who also work outside, they’re always impressed how much better it is compared to whatever they’re using.

Horrible!. This app WAS the best app around. It really used to teach you about how the weather works. A few years ago you could see high and low pressures, lighting, storm altitude, distance and so much more. It had it all. Well NOT ANYMORE! First they made the change of getting rid of the low and high pressure tracking and some other stuff. Ok fine no big deal for some. I wasn’t happy but got over it. However now they got rid of storm tracking and lighting and everything else. Now it is just an app for me to see why is already happening over my area. It’s the same info I get from the news and wether channel. Nothing great! To make it even worse... you now have to pay $4 a month if I want to have the features I used to have a couple months ago. I still do not get the awesome things that I had with the original. I get to pay for what I used to have for free. This is insane!!! How is the weather channel going to charge citizens for a product that we already pay for with our taxes. I’m done! Moving on to a new app!

Used to be good. I used to love this app, have had it for years. Over the years it restricts more and more functions in hopes to subscribe to their “premium service.” As of Jan. 28th they have gone too far. Now an upgrade to premium ad instantly pops up that you have to close out, when you get to the active map, the time lapse slider at the bottom of the screen gives you the past two hours of weather history up to current. In order to see potential future weather you have to subscribe to their premium service. The NOAA is the source of all the FREE information they get. I understand the concept that apps are a business. Instead of offering improvements or new exclusive content to the app, they are instead taking away basic app functions. Others over the years that are now premium services include storm tracking, lightning strikes to name a few. Today I will be deleting this app and searching for something new.

Has declined since intellicast.... As both a pilot and a weather enthusiast I started out with intellicast. The original storm upgrade was decent but this most recent Storm Radar can easily be considered a downgrade from its predecessor. I am in agreement with many of the other reviews stating that the original app could have just been improved upon. Much of the information that had set this program apart from every other app has been removed. The removal of frontal information, pressure systems, and wind overlays (just to start) hinder the apps capability of being considered an advanced meteorological tool and more so places it in the category with every other weather app. The only difference is that it’s slightly less user friendly but with less to offer in exchange for its complexity. What used to be a very capable program for years is now heavily at risk of becoming easily replaced by a couple of the other apps that also offer detailed meteorological information. As a fan I hope they do better. Also, the canned responses don’t help. Update: Will be deleting due to the forced update with diminished performance. There are better radar/meteorology apps out there. 2nd Update: Notice this score is now below 3.0. There is a reason for this. The old app was easily greater than 4.0 consistently. Final Update: This app was at a 2.5. Then they deleted all of the negative ratings from disappointed users. Now it’s back at a 4.3, yet somehow, the exact same app. Interesting.

Easy to use. Intuitive, and good “future-casting”. Radar shows what has happened over the preceding few hours: gives a good clear radar read for the current moment, PLUS a good look at what’s likely coming in the following hours. You can control all of this with a basic time “slider” — plus pinch or move to show a wider area, more local, or a different area. Very intuitive! You can pay for other apps which are much more complex & detailed in displaying precipitation radar — if you understand how to control and use them —and I do! However, THIS is always my go-to radar for a clear sense of what’s happening and what’s coming. You’ll use it, and you’ll like it!

Another disappointment from this app. I loved this app at one time, but I cannot remember the last time it was accurate. I have used this app for well over 5 yrs. I live in South Texas and we have had severe weather lately (Spring 2020) including tornados and hail. In the midst of our severe weather I had to find out about a tornado warning from a different app. A free and more reliable app -WeatherBug. I paid for the upgraded app on my iPhone and I cannot use or transfer the upgraded app to my iPad (same account) so that’s another disappointment. When the weather gets bad I can only use the app on my phone and no other device for weather information. Please allow the paid upgraded usage on other devices that share the same account. It’s only common courtesy. I am also disappointed with the future forecast. For the past 2 weeks it’s been inaccurate in future weather forecasting, especially severe storms in our area. How can that be when so many other apps are extremely reliable? Like I stated above, I at one time loved this app and all its accuracy. So much so I was willing to pay for the upgrade. I’m not sure I can continue to rate it highly, since it doesn’t provide the basic needs from an app: accurate alerts and accurate future forecasting; and it can’t be transferred.

Extremely Disappointing. Recent upgrades, post Intellicast, have been rather disappointing. At first, the change over to Storm had some excellent features that were improvements over Intellicast. Then came Storm Radar...In the beginning, I was having issues with it crashing almost every time I opened it. Now, when i open it, it opens a map of the continent of Africa. Then, when I choose my location, there is no information available, not even in the drop down. I have to close the APP and then reopen it in order to view conditions at my location. Also, there are now permanent icons on the screen which are totally useless. They just take up space on the screen. Also, I can’t even look at the previous 2 hours of HD Radar, or any of the many other features that were available at no cost. I am so disappointed that The Weather Channel has come to this point. I am ready to find another provider of weather data.

This weather app is a high five, but. It should be available for free access so that people can be informed about their Safety Plans for Evacuations. So that people can be assured and aware of their Safety Plans and Surroundings prior to any events that could happen, potentially in their county or the counties close to their county. It is very Important that people have access and Safety Availability for Their Access with out any hindrance of financial commitments. It is important that the Elderly and Disabled have access to Their Safety Evacuations Plans and are Able to Monitor Their Weather Conditions without having any issues or concerns about payments. They should have Full Access with this said something should be done. Take Care and God Bless to All, Lisa Torres

Great to Greedy. Awhile ago I liked this app. It was a 5 star great source of information. That said, I really am unhappy with the latest updates/downgrades. Before the latest changes I had the layer options of seeing lightning & storm tracks. Hail and all sorts of great information. Future radar was taken away on the latest updateToday the app says I need to upgrade to premium to see those layers I previously had. What the heck?.. It’s a Bait and switch method that is not appreciated. Most apps increase capabilities as they evolve. This one is trending the other direction. The weather channels greed has now ruined both the Storm & Wunderground Apps. To the developers, please note: Because you took away capabilities and then turned around to sell them back, I will not get the premium upgrade. I’ll keep my $ based on principle alone. If you are looking for a good weather radar, I suggest you look for another app that will not decrease its capabilities over the life of the application.

Awesome Weather App. 2 hours Past Radar... confirms “Who got wet”. 6 hours future radar... predicts “Who’s going to get wet”. I’m pleased with the Accuracy Level. Awesome Daily Graphic too... Easy to see - Temperature, Precipitation, & Wind Profiles. ALL ON ONE GRAPHIC, the most important ingredients for doing & planning Outdoor Activities... further details available with Drill Down App Pages. My “Go To” Weather Snapshot App for TODAY AND INTO A REASONABLE NUMBER OF FUTURE DAYS, Keeping in mind that “Weather Forecasts” are “Trends” NOT ABSOLUTE PREDICTIONS. The only Weather “For Sure” is what’s happening outside right now! The Weather Channel Guys “GOT IT ABSOLUTELY RIGHT & CONVENIENT” this time! Update 8-7-21… this APP HAS PROBLEMS! VERY UNSTABLE… Sometimes loads correctly with attached charts & graph, TOO MANY TIMES ONLY LOADS ONLY THE RADAR - NO TIME BAR = HARD TO INTERPRET. Main Values WERE “WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW? AND “WHAT’S COMING?”. Getting to the point that I’m just going to STOP THE APP PURCHASE FEE = NO VALUE! VERY FRUSTRATING!

The best. Very intuitive, can tweak it to what interests you the most. The live radar is on point. The notifications are so helpful keeping us connected with what’s coming at us. The colors the interface, the UX. I’ve been using it since it’s come out, and nothing compares. Solid app without all the noise of ads and extra money traps. Respectable. Intuitive. Excellent value… Note: I recently got the premium bc it was a fair price….yet the free version is good. Free version used to give the future radar (which is really the point of a radar imo) and now it stops at a certain point on the free version. But they’ve got to make money, so what are you gonna do. I value it enough that I do support them.)

One of my most used apps. I’ve used Storm Radar since it was released many, many years ago. I like the overall interface, ease of use, notifications and forecast/radar accuracy. Handy to know the start and end timing for precipitation as well as the accumulation by hour. Radar zooms so close that last winter my neighbor asked me to check where snow ended while their family was driving through a storm in Northern Michigan. I texted pictures of the radar so they knew how much farther they had before clear roads and visibility returned. My setting uses current location when it opens, but it can also search any location around the world. So I rely on it when packing for trips, and traveling domestically or overseas.

$20 a year??. I’ve used this radar for years now and has access to decent amount of features albeit not all, but I think that was a decent trade off for a free app. Now I see that I need premium for $20 a year, minus the current promotion of $10 which is still a rip off, for basically everything, including monitoring the radar beyond that immediate moment time and other weather warnings that were helpful. I will be deleting this app. Generally when a bigger company like the Weather Channel buys an app, I would expect the solvency and liquidity of that company to be able to maintain the features of the app without getting greedy and overcharging for features I can probably just find in other apps for way less or free. If I was you Weather Channel, I’d revert back to how it was very quickly, because I sure am not the only one who will be deleting it.

All aboard the Paywall Train!. I used to love this app. Honestly. Used it at least once a day, multiple times if there was a big storm in the area. But this recent update? Added on a new “premium” version that has hidden a number of previously-free features behind a paywall. Want to track a storm’s projected path? Fork over the cash. Want to check to see if/where a tornado was reported in that storm cell that’s right over your house? Better pay up. It’d be different if these were new features. But they’re not. They’re the features that made me an avid fan of this app in the first place. They’re what made me recommend this app to anybody that lives in an area with unpredictable weather. These features were what set this app apart from the rest. But now they’ve been shuffled behind a paywall that seems like nothing but a cash grab, creating a base app that pales in comparison to what it used to be. I expect more features will be stuck behind the paywall soon enough. Time to start looking for a new weather app.

I give up. I loved the Weather Underground Storm app. It was definitely an advanced app that did more than just present the user with forecasts. This app was meant to replace Storm, and maybe the developers had different goals for this app than the last, but it’s definitely not a replacement for Storm. I have tried to use Storm Radar as my main weather app for the last 6 months or so as it’s okay (I would give it 3 stars but they lose one more for throwing away an already good product) and I figured it would gain features over time to regain things lost in the conversion. That hasn’t really happened though. It’s just stayed the same stripped down version of Storm that it always was. So I’m done waiting for regaining features we lost in the transition and I’m moving on to another app and deleting this one. I’m giving Aeris Pulse Weather a shot if that helps anyone else looking for a Storm replacement.

The Weather Radar “Go To” Map App. Have things stabilized at Storm Radar? I guess the worst is behind us. The app now remembers that I actually made the purchase, and keeps the ridiculously annoying ads off of my screen. (Really, if there’s a safety issue with the weather and some ******* ad pops up, does that make sense? No. So buy the thing.) But be sure that your Apple device knows you have a subscription. It’s still the most accurate and descriptive radar app available. Update: There are several weather apps on my tablet and phone that I added when Storm Radar was unstable. In spite of the earlier bumpy ride, I stayed with it. Now it is the first app I open when I need weather data. The radar map shows exactly what I need to know, works as expected, and has been exceptionally accurate.

You finally ruined it. At one time Storm was the best. When the Weather Channel acquired it the “improvements” made it much harder to use and also made it ugly. Although unhappy with it, I have continued to use it. I even paid yearly to remove the adds, I supported it because it was the best. After it was redone to the terrible interface, all memberships were voided and you couldn’t pay to remove adds. Annoying, but eventually they brought being able to remove adds for a monthly fee, so I did again. I have paid now to have adds removed for years... but the last 6 months or so even though I paid every month, the app constantly displayed adds. I begrudgingly still used it because it still had the best data even though a stupid and cumbersome interface. This new change in the last two weeks making you pay an exorbitant amount the the data thats been free for YEARS is finally too far and too greedy. I have PAID for YEARS. I am done with you guys. You have finally ruined it. Great job.

Just a shame.... The original versions of this app were so much better, I kept hoping with updates this one would become a reasonable replacement, but I think it’s actually gotten worse. Constant locking up, becoming unresponsive, app crashes, useless “future” radar... UPDATE July 2020: Just a suggestion, instead of charging monthly for your app “pro version” perhaps you could do a one-time charge. And then you could apply those funds to HIRING SOME DEVELOPERS to fix the numerous issues with the app. UPDATE October 2023: I’m still using the free version - I’ve turned off the useless “future” forecast. The app seems more stable than in the past and it’s my primary weather app again. UPDATE: February 2024: The last update (2 days ago) has broken the ability to look at the details for a location (touching the name or the down arrow does nothing). Please fix it!!

Irrelevant Weather Warning. I’ve never liked this app all that much, but I didn’t really feel much need to find a new one until now. In addition to the slow/glitchy radar, I just received a tornado warning that wasn’t actually relevant to me, which caused undue stress. The alert said for my entire county, but it was actually only relevant to the opposite part of the county from where I live, and I don’t have that part of the county listed as a favorite either. FIX THIS ASAP and only deliver tornado warnings to those currently in the specific warning area or those who have a town in the specific warning area as a “favorite”. You’re only causing undue stress when you send a warning like that out to people it’s not relevant to. Plus people will be less likely to take your future warnings seriously if the warnings they receive now are irrelevant. Very irresponsible and I would have expected better. I will be looking for a new app that is more useful in general and more precise with the tornado warnings.

Storm. . . Ya, whatever you say.. I have used this app since it came out, as many others have expressed. I get why they went to a subscription based model, however the sneaky practice of stripping features under the guise of “fixing bugs and improving performance” Is so disingenuous and obviously intended to hear the lemmings to the subscription. I have an older iOS 12 iPad that stopped updating a few years back that still works great with many of the old features still in place. I will not update the app on my new phone because of this practice. When it stops functioning on either/both devices I will move on. Again, I get the subscription model. The subscription price is just a bit more than I am willing to pay knowing there back door practice will only lead to more sneaky increases for less features.

RN- retired. I’ve really enjoyed being able to rely on the Weather notifications and being able to properly prepare for whatever is on the way. The sound of early blings quickly alerts me to action. Lightning strikes with accurate data on distance away from my current location determines my next life-saving moves. Time matters in a crucial radius as to what is extremely important. “Take the gun- leave the cannoli” scenario or “ Run for your life “! Thank you for providing me free service- I have better confidence by myself to gauge my gardening and landscaping projects. I also can plan driving trips and shopping and visiting relatives & friends and pack accordingly. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Mrs. Cindy Stoddard RN

Extremely unhappy. Bring back the original storm app.. The Storm radar app was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. Honestly after almost 2 years I can say I am extremely disappointed. Time and time again I find that the radar glitches. This afternoon. There is a storm front approaching. If you hit play on the radar it show us about 60 miles away. Then it disappears and about an hour into the future the front reappears. This has happend more and more often. I loved the original storm app. I understand that it’s no longer supported but as a business that does weather. That puts out an app called Storm Radar. One would think the app would work. I live in northern NJ. We have 3 radar stations that cover this area. So it’s not like there is a lack of data. What is the problem with the app? Please someone contact me and talk to me. I need an app like this for my business but continually find this one less and less reliable. Thanks

Has the potential to be great, instead is buggy to being almost useless. I was a paying user of this app back when it was called Storm and run by WUnderground. Unfortunately when they decided to rewrite, many bugs were introduced they have never been fully hammered out. The result is something that has potential to be great, but just falls painfully flat. I’ve submitted almost a dozen bug reports, many for things that were supposed to be fixed already. The app is now regularly asking for money, yet the radar doesn’t even load half the time! It will be raining outside and not a cloud in the sky according to the app. Please just bring back the old storm and put the new one out of its misery. Or at the very least stop badgering me for money. I will happily pay for this app once it works consistently in the free version. You do not deserve a penny from users given the current poor state of the app

Wow, this app is something else.... ... well, it would be something else if it actually worked on my iPhone 6s. I have thrown away and re-downloaded this app many times now, and it still continues to freeze up. It’s very frustrating that if I try to perform any function such as enlarge or reduction the screen, change locations, or turn on or off the animation, it’s like the app needs to think about whether it wants to reply or not. Sometimes deleting the app is my only option, but even that doesn’t help. I sure wish you had done more beta testing before making us throw away an app that actually worked pretty well. I wish the old app was still available, I would gladly pay to use it. And as an aside, could you make the lightening indicators easier to see? It’s hard to see them when there are many other colors on the screen. Maybe a black outline on the lightening would help?

Good app but.... I have liked this app and have used it for years but there is a bug that they haven’t/won’t fix. You load the app. Turn on storm data under Radar which gives you detailed storm data like speed, direction, helictity, hail size, etc. Long list that you have to scroll. The first time you load the app, the list will scroll. Once you close the app, the next and subsequent times you go open the app you can’t scroll the list. I have a new SE 2020 with updated operating system so it’s not an old phone. This is critical info for us during tornado season. The app used to be reliable years ago but now it isn’t. Because of having to reload the app over and over to get the storm data, I can’t have my list of favorite cities. Too much trouble to load them over and over. We’ve tried to turn in this bug but no one will listen. Fix the bug and you will get 5 stars.

Wow. Premium didn’t Add layers it just took them away. All the new premium layers are supposed to be so flashy and impressive except for the part where most of them were previously included and just free!!! Of Course GEOS-16 is premium but Why the hell would ADVISORIES be anything but free??? Also in rural as F#%& nowhere the “local storm reports” layer in this app was about the only way I could find out if there would be down trees or flooding on the roads when I drive to work before sunrise (most places don’t just have access to 911 call center reports) I’m a broke student driving 45 minutes each way to work for free in a hospital. It sure would be nice if I could access the information about what roads will get me there safely! And even though I’m no where near California it still feels like bad taste to put Earthquake information behind a paywall right now!!!! Really disappointed in the weather channel today. Really.

Nearly Perfect. This app gives me the chance to visually see what predictions will be, hours into the future. I have used it to judge how much time I have to ride, kayak or sail before weather comes in. It is pretty accurate as well. Last week I timed the end of a bike ride just as the first drops began to fall. The only thing I wish The Weather Channel would do is increase the area shown on the new zoom-out feature. That feature would help me plan the weeks events if I could see the weather patterns in the west and midwest. Unfortunately it only shows a state or two over from us and I have to finger-zoom further out, and then finger-zoom back to focus on my local area. An adjustable zoom in settings would make the app perfect.

Loved and used it for years! And it can improve. I use the radar app all the time , allowing me to find and predict moments between rain clouds to take a walk, run, or bike when I’ve been couped up all day . There is nothing like seeing the real data. The future forecast model needs some improvement . Not that anyone can accurately predict the future of a map based rainfall over time , but the model doesn’t even start with the current actual data. As the app switches over between showing past actual data, to showing future predictions, there can be a huge dramatic shift , which is obviously not accurate. I wish the prediction engine would start with the current actual data , and forecast changes from that point … my personal opinion. If that’s too hard , I wish it was more obvious what was real data vs prediction , maybe based on a background color or something . I have learned to navigate so this is more a wish for newer users. The current model still is useful , as it can still show the speed of clouds , allowing us to estimate how long a cloud will travel a given distance … but that requires more thought

Accurate. Radar seems to be very accurate however quite often even with the location services on when I open the app it opens my location in Africa and then whenever I hit the symbol for current location, it gives me the current location however has no weather data or information. I actually have to close out of the app and open it again. I deleted this app before because of that issue with no resolution or reply back after two different emails were sent to the developer. I came back to it however with it working properly and now it’s back to doing what it did before. Update: (1-8-21) I pay for the app monthly and I constantly have to restore the original purchases about once a day now. Sometimes it takes several attempts for this to happen.

Not the original Storm. Used the original Storm for years and really liked it, particularly the layout and detail panels. It was my go-to source for weather info. Switched to this when prompted by the developers and found it to be less informative with features such as boating weather removed. New version is clunky, slow, less intuitive, less detailed, and the dreadful ads are awful. Can't wait for the next severe weather to creep up so that I can wait on an ad to load before I can see a storm track. I actually get frustrated with app now and look for weather information elsewhere. Update: So here I am watching a strong cell with heavy lightning move toward me at the coast and I can't see a storm track or get the animation to work on iPhone. Thought I'd give the app some more time to prove itself but now share the sentiments of another reviewer...that depending on this app can be dangerous, even fatal. At least the notifications work so I know to tune into another weather map. Please give us back the original Storm!

Very disappointed. We are very disappointed that TWC has removed features from the free version and have made them available only with a premium subscription. If you were going to offer a premium subscription, maybe you should have developed and offered MORE features, rather than take away current important features that were once offered on the free version. We used to monitor the projected radar tracking (a few hours in advance) to determine whether or not someone should remain vigilant during the overnight hours when dangerous weather conditions were possible. Now we can only see radar in the past, up to the present. I thought TWC was a service that strived to help people remain safe during extreme weather conditions. It’s a shame that future radar projections are now only offered for money. Greediness is very unbecoming.

Complete garbage. Do not download this app. I have used this as my primary weather app since it’s inception. Years ago it allowed access to everything even the most ardent weather enthusiast would want. Individual radar stations with views of multiple radar angles to see lower/higher into storm system, storm tracks, hurricane tracks, individual storm cell activity. They slowly cut away every interesting feature a weather app could contain. Before the most recent update, this app was basically just a radar. Now, they want to pay for future radar and the system is so full of bugs, the regular radar rarely works. Use any other app. The devs at storm radar ruined a great weather app in the name of profit and even managed to screw up that piece of the business. This app shows no promise of improvement and I can only hope my review saves a few people the 30 seconds it takes to download, use, and realize the garage that is presented to them.

What were you guys thinking?!!?. WOW! I truly didn’t want to see one of my favorite, and otherwise; extremely useful, usable, and all-round great, info-packed weather apps, get “gutted” like so much road-side carrion, picked clean of virtually all good content and information, the user might actually find beneficial in the first place! Then, if THAT insult to the apps’ original creators was not insulting enough, you’ve finally decided, “NOW is the time to add insult to injury, and charge the users a PREMIUM for the privilege, while simultaneously providing FAR LESS USABLE INFORMATION than what they had in the first place!” (MINUS THE COST...MINUS THE INSULT TO CONSUMER INTELLIGENCE.) Well, hopefully, one day, some decent- genuinely, ethically motivated developer, decides to take on all of these money-hungry, fiscally myopic corporatists- reminding them that neither: are ALL consumers, total idiots, nor are they equally entitled to “far less, while charging them a premium”. Thanks for the great app W.U. while it lasted.

Future radar was better when free. The future radar used to be free and it ran smoothly. Then that was changed to a paid potion of the app. I finally paid for it because I live in a tornado area and future is beneficial t however the radar is now so choppy. It pauses every 5 seconds to refresh and the rain doesn’t move smoothly, it’s choppy as well and even skips half hours of time-which in times of severed weather, would be the most valuable time to have it. It’s not my internet because I’ve used it on several different Wi-Fi’s including big company 5G. Still giving it a 3 star because I do still like the future radar info-it just needs performance updates to be more useful.

Some good, some not as good. Compared to the old app before it became the new “Storm” there is only one thing I like better, and that even comes with a “but it doesn’t” caveat. I like that it is faster to pinpoint a specific location anywhere across the country by tapping instead of having to write in a place name. But, I liked the way you could save your frequently used places and go directly to them. I liked the ease of getting the customized overlays better in the old app. I still haven’t found out how to see jet stream patterns or surface wind speed patterns. I also think the forecasted radar view seems to be using a model which must say “always predict more rain in 12 hours”. I’d like to see a long range forecast, (even though I never trust them as being more accurate than what I used to do with the radar images, but now I don’t even trust the radar forecast)
