Virtual Vision Test App Description & Overview

What is virtual vision test app? Still seeing well out of your current glasses or contacts prescription, but now it's expired? Virtual Vision Test by Warby Parker lets you renew it from home in 10 minutes using just your phone! And it starts at just $15.

*Pricing*
- You’ll only be charged if we can renew your prescription
- You’ll hear back from our doctors within 48 hours. If the doctor renews your prescription, you’ll pay just $15. For multiple prescriptions you'll pay $25.
- If they cannot renew your prescription and instead recommend you get an in-person, comprehensive eye exam, you will not be charged.

*Eligibility*
To use Virtual Vision Test, you must meet eligibility requirements set by state regulations and our doctors. Virtual Vision Test is great for anyone who:
- Is between 18 and 65 years old
- Does not live in one of the following states: AK, DC, GA, ID, KY, NJ, NM, SC, SD, WA, WV
- Has a single-vision distance Rx (not readers or progressives)
- Has no eye health concerns or symptoms
- Sees well with their current glasses or contacts

How it works!

It’s as simple as reading the eye chart at the doctor’s office—but on your phone. You just need your eyeballs, your glasses or contacts, and your phone.
1. We’ll guide you through a simple (but thorough) eligibility quiz to make sure the app is a good fit for you.
2. If you’re eligible, the app takes you through an equally simple vision test. You'll need to complete it in a quiet, well-lit spot where you have about 10 feet of space.
3. In about 48 hours, an eye doctor will assess your results. If they determine that you're still seeing well out of your current prescription, then the doctor may renew it and you'll pay the $15, or more, if you have multiple prescriptions.

FYI: Virtual Vision Test by Warby Parker is not a comprehensive eye exam and it isn’t meant to replace visits to your eye doctor. It’s important to get your eye health examined periodically, even if you aren’t experiencing any vision problems, so please follow the advice of your doctor. Good to keep those peepers in check.

Useful to buy glasses you already know will work. Update: DOESN’T WORK WITH IPHONE SE 2020! After the original hassle I thought my glasses were finally on the way, but Warby Parker responded that my device was too old, it needs to be an iPhone 5S or newer. I have a new 2020 iPhone SE. Apparently they haven’t yet made the app compatible with this device, but they won’t tell you that until days after you submit your results. Knocking off another star for the poor user experience. Original review: I wasted a bunch of time due to bugs in the app the first time I tried it. Once I got past that I was able to complete the exam. Hopefully they will ship the glasses I already paid for. This app is no replacement for a real doctor visit. I would use it again if it’s the only way to buy glasses I know will work, without visiting a doctor office, although next time I’ll probably shop elsewhere first.

Really cool. Very neat app, but it would be a nice reminder to turn your screen saver off because I’m pretty sure it affected my test having to lose the connection a few times and swiping the phone on accident. Also a reminder to pull your cursor out of the way. Mine was touching a few of the letters. Or perhaps at least an easy way to restart a section if you know you screwed up with one of those things. But still very cool.

Extremely straightforward and painless. In my opinion, the people leaving poor reviews are either a)competitors/brick-and-mortar eye doctors, or b)struggle to follow simple directions. Both the app and computer browser interface worked seamlessly, and I was able to quickly judge my prescription. Typical eye doctor visits are much lengthier and a much bigger pain, and I felt this app tested my prescription in a way that was every bit as effective.

Great service-only minor freeze. This is a great and convenient app!! My arc just expired and I can’t get in to my doc for a month. Easy way to get spectacle Rx. Only issue was app froze after I completed the exam and didn’t remember my completed test. I clicked ‘Ready’ button but no go. Also, make sure your sleep mode on your computer isn’t too short!! The app interacting with the test site and switching screens didn’t count as activity on my new Mac Pro, it fell asleep a few times.

Don't recommend! Just a hassle .... I thought I would give the virtual vision test a try because the holidays are coming up and it would probably be challenging to get an appointment before the year ends. My vision has changed since last year. I completed the vision test using the app, which was easy, but then I was asked to either upload my expired prescription or scan the boxes of my contacts. I chose to scan the boxes but the barcode of the Acuvue contact lenses wasn't recognized. Then, I emailed Warby Parker a picture of my boxes of contacts and I got a response back within 5 minutes that it would be an unofficial copy and not accepted. If a picture of the boxes of contacts is not accepted (even though it is explicitly listed ad an option!), then why offer this option. It was just a waste of my time. I don't recommend it!

Frequent crashing with total loss of progress. The app crashed 3 times in the span of 40m. Each time resulted in a total loss of progress. This meant answering all of the bot screening questions, signing into my WP account, synching my computer with my phone, skipping through the instructional videos, only to get to the exams and have it crash midway through. THREE TIMES IN A ROW. Just no. Great concept. Poorly executed. Please spend some more dollars to fix this flighty behavior. Now I have no confidence in the app and have to go get an Rx renewed anyways.

Straight forward, one suggestion. I took the test since I was eligible and it’s SO much more convenient than having to take half a day to go out, sit in a waiting room, get my eyes tested, wait another 30 minutes for results, etc. and with the cost of the test + gas… it’s a no from me. I’ve been wearing glasses for 5+ years and while my vision has changed a little bit, I can still efficiently see out of my 5 year old glasses. This is a GREAT option for me. I knocked one star off because of uncertainty of accuracy. For the test you have to use your phone to swipe. For someone with small hands and big phone, this is pretty hard to do with one hand, since the other has to be used to cover your left or right eye. I feel like I may have missed a few circles on the test because of awkward hand swiping. If I moved my phone too much, I would have to recalibrate (which happened about 6 times during the process). One way I would try to solve this and maybe provide a directional keypad on the screen with the ability to zoom the keypad out to accommodate smaller hands. Other than that, this company has thought of it all!

Location issues. Application does not give right allocation. It tells that my location is not supported by the app. But when I check available vision offices they are 15 minutes a way from me on the car. I could travel it’s not a problem. Also app is downloading very slow when you open futures, but it could be on my side because my phone doesn’t have enough operation memory. Application required to have a good internet and storage on your device. Unfortunately because of this issue I couldn’t even go trough all processes. Feel as not accepted to Warby customer care :(

Such a let down.. I took the online vision tests one week ago and have heard nothing, after the prompt said I should have my prescription back within 24 hours. I used the Liingo app that scanned my existing glasses and it generated my exact prescription right away (which was correct), sent my 5 pairs to try on same day and charged me ZERO dollars. At this point, I couldn’t seen my eye doctor several times over. Also, there is no communication via the app or email about status updates. I did call in and the gentleman who answered the phone was wonderful and apologetic, but did let me know that he couldn’t tell me when they would be able to get to me.

Doesn’t Even Let Me Start the Vision Test. This app just doesn’t work. I got to the point where I was supposed to start the eye test, but it just didn’t register my press of the start test button. I tried closing the app, I tried restarting my iPad but it never worked. I tried pressing the help button in the app and that didn’t work either. I’m writing this negative review because it is literally the only way I could get in contact with the apps developers and let them know that this app is completely broken. I just lost my insurance and I did not want to pay a ton just to renew my prescription which has not changed. Pointless and a waste of time. I will be moving my business elsewhere.

Very interesting (and positive) experience. What an interesting look into the interactivity possible in an app computer and human experience. It was intuitive, seamless, accurate, and beautiful. Great UX/UI design! The only issues I have with any of this product or experience is simply the knowledge that technology like this will be replacing the educated optometrists and other professionals who rely on having meaningful work to do for society. And we need humans with jobs, as well. With growing populations and shrinking industries, I feel as though this is still subject to consider.

Had to restart 7ish times.. The good news is that I was finally able to complete this test. The bad news is that I had to redo the test seven times including the videos which cannot be skipped. My computer and my phone kept saying the distance had to be recalculated. At first I was doing it with Safari, when I switch to chrome it worked all the way through.

Too limited. It’s such a cool concept and I admit I download the app just to try it. However, the on-boarding process sets a lot of constriction. For example if you have more than a long distance eye problem, they won’t let you continue. The most frustrating part is you have to enter your eye exam information in order to continue, otherwise, it shows only two buttons: call to make an appointment or call WP, there is no exit button. That said, this app is not for new patient, it’s not for anyone that has more than distance eye sign problems. With all of the denying without continue process to the real function of the app, 1) it’s too much work to try out the app, if it requires me to see an eye doctor, I’ll have my eyes test out without having to open this app; 2) lost of trust, and the limitation feels this app is more of a toy than an actual tool to use for eye exam.

Thankful for the service / App a little buggy. Great service. My prescription is barely older than a year, but my glasses work great for me. I’m glad I can renew, rather than have to get a comprehensive exam just to order an extra pair of prescription sunglasses. The app was a little buggy as far as connection is concerned though. Had to start and restart my process multiple times. No way to jump back in where you were if you exit the app. I kept having to recalibrate my distance, even though I never moved. Finally got it to work though!

Can’t use an IPAD. I downloaded the app on my IPad and went through the entire process successfully. I submitted and was informed that a doctor was reviewing my test. It was only a few days later when I inquired that I was told I did not use a proper iPhone device. If I was using the wrong device, I should have been informed before even doing the test, and at worst should have been informed after completing. I never would have known it didn’t work unless I explicitly asked days later. DON’T TRY THIS APP WITH AN IPAD. Even if it goes through successfully, it won’t work and you will not even know.

Neat. Great concept. For the sunburst test maybe change color of message from red to something else and tell how many takes it will be because red means error to me so I thought I was doing it wrong. Also just saw a note that I couldn’t use one of my glasses from warby parker but couldn’t read the note why. May be ineligible which would be really annoying after taking all that time to do the test. Should be done upfront and screen won’t let me see full message. But wow what a concept!

This App Needs Glasses. I got thru the questionnaire fine and was trying to set up the distance. I pointed my iPhone at the checkerboard on my laptop, kept backing up per the directions, got to a certain distance and it said “we can’t detect your screen.” I got as far as 9.2 out of 11 which I assume means number of feet away. But I was standing next to the 15’ mark of the tape measure I had on the floor next to me and somehow the app is still telling me I’m only at 9.2 (feet away) out of 11. Then it turns yellow and says “we can’t detect your screen”. Yes, maybe because you had me back up so much, I’m now in Canada. I shut off all the lights to avoid a glare. Same thing. I dimmed my laptop screen a bit. Same thing. I brightened my laptop screen a bit. Same thing. I took my iPhone case off. Same thing. I tried for 30 minutes to get it to stick. Nothing. Just me tripping over furniture in the dark. So now I need an orthopedic prescription, too.

Preys on the uninformed. This is what happens when tech people think they can be doctors because being "disruptive" is supposedly better than being good. See your doctor IN PERSON. You only have two eyes, so take care of them. Just because you feel that you see well it doesn't mean your eyes are healthy or that you're seeing your best. Update: so now he’s a “doctor”? This reeks of misleading information that shows just how stupid they think you are. This may be a violation of federal regulations. Apple would be wise to remove this app before fines and/or civil liability ensue.

Measuring computer portion did not work. Was going through the questionnaire just fine, but when it came time to measure my computer screen there was no “box” to scale my credit card. I tried on two different laptops on internet explorer, safari and google chrome. Very disappointed that this step was not more clear.

Don’t Bother If You Don’t Have “Distance Prescriptions”. First, I had difficulty logging in to this app with my Warby Parker login and was forced to change my password several times. When I finally found workarounds to eventually login, the app stopped working twice. When I was finally able to complete the exam, a final question asked me to select the frames I used for the exam. But when I went to select the frames I used, only then was I told that my prescription is “ineligible” because only people with distance prescriptions are able to participate. What a huge waste of time without any prior warning.

Really convenient!. This is one of the best practical uses of mobile devices since they’ve gone mainstream. Very straightforward interface. For a lot of people whose prescriptions don’t change and don’t require annual eye exams, this is very convenient.

Eye test doesn’t work!!. Excited to be able to do an eye test at home was fantastic! Set everything up according to instructions and proceeded to wait for instructions…nothing. Absolutely nothing after trying 4 different times would the eye test worked. Measured the footage, computer set up to see me, well lit room still nothing. Here I had already picked out my style of glasses now I hope I don’t have as much trouble sending them back. Since the eye test didn’t work I know the glasses won’t.

Experiencing error in app. After I upload a photo of my latest prescription, it asks if this is the prescription in my glasses. I select “yep, I confirm this is my current Rx”, but the app never moves past that question. I have restarted the process a couple times but it always hits this snag. Other than that, great app

A waste of time.. I took the eye test and answered all the questions. Then I was prompted for my credit card information, and an error came up. The error said “something went wrong. Try again later”. I tried several times and even different credit cards. Then the app closed and didn’t save my test results. The test takes 20 minutes, I don’t want to take it all over again just to lose the data again. A waste of my time.

Didn’t work. I downloaded this to renew my prescription for Warby Parker glasses. First it only works for distance prescriptions so if you have anything other than that don’t waste your time. The concept is great but flawed. You use your computer and your phone as a “remote”, my computer kept powering down because I wasn’t using it- possibly a setting that I could change and nothing to do with the app- so I had to keep going to my computer to re-wake it and then had to recalibrate distance every time. Also the app says you'll have your results within 24 hours and won’t be changed until then- I’m past 48 hours and have a pending charge on my card but no results. Not super impressed.

Frustrating. It’s great for the most part. It was really easy to use, but at the end when trying to submit a payment it keeps saying, “Our Apologies, something went wrong. Please try again later.” I’ve tried multiple times now but it won’t submit. It’s super frustrating to have to take the test multiple times because it won’t go through. It also doesn’t save your results if for some reason the app closes on you.

A Great idea But…... This is a great idea and I wish I could have tried it. I thought the eligibility test was related to my insurance and not what it turned out to be… The app tells me that it is not available in my area. That fact alone isn’t a reason to criticize this app, how ever not understanding what the service area is or who is eligible to use it and not being able to find this information bothers me. The TV commercials also failed to mention— as far as I know after seeing them so many times— that you cannot take an eye test with an app if you are an older person with a dual prescription or someone who leads bifocals in plain English. I can imagine that might be challenging to do in an app based on the phone, but hopefully in the future that will be possible.

You Need a Rx. You need a copy of your prescription to use this apparently. Do not bother if you don’t have a copy and only have your glasses. The app says you either need your prescription or your current glasses. I assumed if you didn’t have your prescription you would do something similar to the glassesusa app to obtain the prescription from the glasses using your camera and computer. Wrong! I went through the entire test and finally at the end it tells me I need to send a copy of my current prescription. I wouldn’t have minded as much if I would have known this before I did the test or if only certain users need to submit the prescription then a disclaimer of this would have been nice as well at the begging of the testing process.

Misleading scam, I can’t even use it!. I opened the app and was caught off guard when the app asked me to answer a few questions to see if I was “qualified” to use the app. It then pinged my location and said that they don’t have any doctors licenses to practice in my state. So this is actually a glorified doctor referral app and you “qualify” if you’re in an area they service. There’s nothing wrong with using an app to refer business but at least let people use it, even if they can’t be referred.

Eyes. I got a prescription last year it hasn’t been a year yet but the doctor wrote the wrong prescription for my glasses the contact lenses turned out okay but my eyes have changed and I need my glasses to be my original prescription contacts just isn’t working for me my eyes bounce when reading up close with glasses I can change out to reading glasses to bad I can’t get the prescription from here maybe some day this app can have more options over all glad to see a app that has a future for eyes

Easy, fast and inexpensive vision test!. My vision test results were ready in just a few hours (which was totally unexpected!) I was able to purchase my new prescription sunglasses plus extra regular glasses for a great price — sooner rather than later — because of the convenience and effortless experience using the vision test app. WP glasses are consistently nice quality and beautiful and I’ve purchased many styles. I had to contact customer service once in the past and was amazed at how friendly, efficient and helpful they were. Great company!!!

Buggy. Hey. I love WP and decided to give this app a try. Seems fairly straightforward but here is my issue. First the positive - the test is really quick and easy. But then… the app says your RX will be reviewed by a doctor within 48 hours of submitting it. Now although I did the test over the weekend, it’s been three days and I’ve got nothing concrete from them (took the test on a Saturday and it’s Tuesday night, now), which brings me to my next point. After you take the test, there’s no record of it, what the progress is, when you took it, no test id, etc, either in this app or in the WP app - no confirmation email, order number, nothing like that, which seems either lazy or like maybe the app is broken. The third thing is that I was finally sent an email today announcing my RX was ready, and it included no specific information but it did link me to what it said was my prescription. The link took me to a broken page that wouldn’t load. I contacted customer service and they said the test was still pending and they didn’t know why I had been charged or why I had received the email saying the Rx was ready. To their credit they offered me free shipping on my glasses so maybe that’s something??? Finally, the lack of communication from this app, the lack of transparency in the process and the lack of communication across the apps (WP and vision test) is frustrating and messy. In retrospect I would have just gone to an optometrist and gotten my prescription in an hour.

So convenient!!!! So SMART!!!. I fell in love with Warby Parker and get at least 3 compliments a day on my glasses. But as you guessed, as soon as I wanted to add to my collection because they were sooooo reasonably priced I got an email from them saying my Rx was expired (which even them being on that is amazing) so I was like crap. Got to go do my yearly exam and I don’t have insurance so I usually have to go to Costco (which I am still grateful for because you do need to get comprehensive eye exams) which the app reminds you of constantly. But when I found out I could download this app and use it with my computer to confirm with a doctor that my prescription hadn’t changed for only $40 I was shocked! So I did it. It was so genius. Even how they have you measure the screen to your computer is sooooo smart!! My husband was watching me do the whole process and he was so impressed. AND they approved my Rx and it immediately went to Warby Parker and this time I went to and actual location (Abbott Kinney) so I could try on the whole collection if I wanted. They had all of my prescription info and just like that placed an order for two more pairs of glasses that will show up within a week I think. It saved me so much money and more importantly, TIME!! Thank you to whoever thought up this genius idea!!!!!

Super frustrating. It seems like a good idea but it’s not! It didn’t work properly. Constantly resetting distance, which I understand, but then it would freeze afterwards. My issue is why do you care what my prescription is? I’ve purchased multiple pair of glasses from you and my last prescription didn’t change but I don’t want to have to go to the trouble contacting the eye doctor because I’ve already lost the prescription they sent home with me. My kids broke my current glasses (purchased from warby Parker) and I need a new pair ASAP. Didn’t even do the try them on thing, every pair I’ve purchased have been amazing. Just needed a new pair quick. But that can’t happen. I’m paying for it what do you care what the prescription is?????? I dont get it. Do not use this app. It won’t even work. It’s not like you’ll loose any money, you’ll just get super frustrated and say screw Warby Parker for even teasing me with this option.

GREAT app - one suggestion. This is a fantastic app. It is easy and delightful to use and gave me a new prescription within 24 hours. This is especially wonderful because I needed a prescription update to get blue light glasses for working at home bc of Covid, and no place was open to get a prescription. Whole process took only half an hour!! The one small suggestion I have is for the last step. When you are supposed to choose your current glasses or upload a prescription, I chose my current Warby Parker distance frames which I had bought online using a distance prescription. The app said these were ineligible, that only distance prescriptions were eligible. I was confused, and almost gave up because I thought that my vision was too bad for app ( I have terrible nearsightedness and astigmatism). But I thought I would try uploading my prescription (the same one as I used for the glasses) and see what happened. Luckily I got a prescription!! So perhaps change the “ineligible” message to something less confusing because I nearly dropped off. But this is a small thing!! Thank you developers, PMs, and other relevant stakeholders for a phenomenal product!! You have really made my life easier and better!!

life. saver.. i ❤️ glasses (& warby parker & money savings in my pocket) but i absolutely LOVE this app. i keep my biannual vision appointments but ... the pandemic. i needed a frame update for all my very important zoom calls - but my prescription expired. Enter Warby’s Prescription Check app. Literally, same day - my prescription - which has been basically the same for a decade - is extended. So, I can see the road when I drive, my kids from across the room, the neighbor down the street - all while being a baddie in new Warby frames from the safety of my home!

Want to love it, but it doesn’t work. I have been trying to use this app all morning and can’t get it to go past the location services. It tells me it needs to check my location and the “alrighty” button pops up. Each time a click it the app shuts down, and when I open it again, I’m back at the home screen to watch the video or skip. I tried clicking multiple times, I tried not pressing and just leaving it, I tried deleting and redone loading, I tried turning off my phone and starting up again, I tried turning on location services manually but this app doesn’t pop up in the location services settings. Nothing works, just nothing or crashes every single time.

Joke/Scam. I was told I need this to update an expired script. Well the app tells you to go 10’ away from your phone and they automatically tell you when that is reached. I do the test and can’t see anything and I was shocked. after the test was done I measured the actual space and it was 15’ away from my phone. Wow explains why I couldn’t see. Oh and 36hrs later I’m Still waiting for the results. 1-800 contacts you get in 2 hours and your items shipped an hour after.

Super convenient. This is really excellent. The test was short and easy, and very doable at home. I wish it could be used for contacts too but this is a great price for forty bucks. I’m waiting on my test to be approved, but I’m assuming it will since the test went well. Will be using in the future...I’m just excited to get new glasses!

This is a racket.. My prescription has not changed but apparently it has “expired” but have no fear, Warby Parker aka the music man has a solution to the “problem” they created. They will charge you an extra 40 dollars (1/2 the cost of the glasses) to either give you a “new” prescription or make you go to the dr anyway... no 3rd option available of just let me order new glasses with my “old” prescription please. Anyway, I caved, agreed to this online exam and as other reviewers here have stated, the connection between your phone and the computer is so glitchy and some weird lag I had to give up 1/2 way through the tests. Aurgh.

Great experience!!. This app is great if you are eligible to use it (the faq on their website can tell you if you’re eligible before you download). I have an outdated prescription and have been wanting new frames but I know how pushy the eye doctor can be when you ask for your script and don’t buy glasses from them so I’ve been putting off going. When I read about this app I was so intrigued!! Overall this was such a smooth experience. I downloaded this yesterday, uploaded my old prescription, and took the exam all within a half an hour. By the end of the day I had a new prescription! Now time for new glasses!!

Great concept, TERRIBLE execution!. I downloaded this app thinking that I could bypass going to an optometrist and spending almost $75 for an eye exam. The app basically instructs you to go onto their website and sync your phone with your computer, so that you may use your phone as a remote during the test. Sounds awesome, right?! It then instructs you to stand 11 feet away from your computer. Easy! The problem comes into play when the test starts. During the first test, I noticed that there was a bit of lag between what I was doing on my phone and what was happening on my computer, which caused me to select some things erroneously. So, I started over and just took my time to make sure that I accounted for the lag. When the second test came up, I was instructed that it needed to recalibrate the distance between my phone and my computer, which were still the same. It did this over ten times. When it finally passed this point, and started the second test, the lag was even more apparent. It also would stop in the middle of the test and make me recalibrate, even though I didn’t not move an inch from where I was standing the whole time. So, I just gave up. I’ll be going to my eye doctor soon!

Love the idea, but 12 Pro is unsupported.. I’ve been a longtime WP customer and was excited to try out the Prescription Check app. Worked really well, easy to use.... but after waiting 4 days to hear back about the results, I reached out to Customer Support and found out that the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max are unsupported and couldn’t be given my results. Since they’re new phones, not a lot of users have them, so I get it takes time to update the app. But at a minimum there should have been an alert before I started the process.

Completely worthless. I live in one of the poorest states in the country, where we actually could use cheap updated I prescriptions, yet this service is not offered at all in my area. If you’re in West Virginia save your time and don’t even bother downloading the app. When the closest place to me to get a free exam and two pairs of glasses for a decent price is two hours or more away, an app and service like this could really shine. That’s if they didn’t require optometrist in your area to review the results. Which makes zero sense to me with the world we live in today a person on the opposite side of the world should be able to review them.

Fantastic App for an eye exam!. This is so awesome that I can renew my prescription on an app from my home! No need to hang in a Doctor’s waiting room with a mask on for several hours. Standing naked in my living room, eleven feet from my laptop while swiping my iPhone, is now my favorite way to do an eye exam! It was even kinda fun, like a video game. I’m looking forward to renewing in a few years.

I really want to love it…. If you meet the qualifications, this app along with the service… I’m assuming would be amazing but if you’re like me and have had progressive or bifocals, let me just save you the trouble of downloading the app and wasting your time cause you’re not going to qualify. Even though I knew I most likely wouldn’t… it was still worth a shot to me I guess. I would’ve rated the app higher even though I didn’t technically prequalify… cause I don’t think the initial process should be this complicated to see if you just prequalify or not, maybe to some it's easy or not an issue but I had to go through a lot of trouble to free up space on my device, finally get the app to download, wait forever for it to download… only to be told within the first minute of literally downloading the app “that I don’t qualify” and then having to go through the trouble of deleting the app faster than I was able to even download it in the first place. I think the initial qualification questions should just be something that’s just offered online on the actual site and if someone qualifies, cool… then have them go through the trouble of downloading the app but it’s very counter productive and highly annoying in my experience and that’s why I rated it poorly.

Easy App Experience, Had Problems with Rx but Customer Support Saved It. Let me preface this by saying this is my third review of this product. I received a prescription very quickly, and the app is an incredibly smooth experience. I had a little trouble at first getting to the right distance to take the test, but once that was resolved it was very easy. I did, however, have a problem on the backend. I received a prescription for the wrong product. I did have to go through quite a few loops (which took over a week) with customer service to get the issue resolved. It seems the problem was with the prescribing physician, not with Warby Parker. I am updating my review this app to four stars, from one star. This is thanks to an absolutely wonderful customer support manager who saved the day, and took care of my problem flawlessly (not sure if I can share her name here, but first initial J, thank you SO much!). Those extra stars are thanks to her!

Waste of time and memory space. This app is totally worthless, first off they didn't want to take all of 5 seconds to tell you that if your prescription feels like it changed to not bother. However the test is functionally broken although it wants access to your camera and mic it cannot and does not do anything with either. Supposedly it must have a comparator so if you step back 10ft it can guess that. but that function just sits at zero feet. i'm unconvinced that all the reviews are fake.

Good idea but doesn’t work. It’s a great idea, but frustrating from start to finish. I tried to use it 3 times but ran into technical issues each time and gave up. First, the app detected movement and asked me to recalibrate (I didn’t move and I did recalibrate) and then it kept asking me to do the same thing in a loop. So, I tried to do the test on a bigger computer screen and couldn’t even see the box to drag to size. It’s a good idea and I would’ve been more than happy to pay for the exam but I will be going back to renew my prescription in person.

Broken and useless. I've tried this thing three times and had the same error from up every time. It will say that the distance from my computer has changed (even though I haven't moved) and that it needs to reset the distance. Okay, fine, reset it then. Except it doesn't do anything from there. It just puts up a screen saying that it needs to reset the distance. No buttons to press, no instructions on how to reset the distance, and no ability to continue the tests. I kept tapping the screen trying to figure out how, exactly, one is supposed to reset the distance. Nothing happens, it just stays on that screen. The only thing you can do is to restart the app and begin the entire process all over again. I did this three times before finally giving up. Seems like a neat idea and the actual tests were easy enough to do, but this app is completely useless until they fix this issue.

Experiencing error in app. After I upload a photo of my latest prescription, it asks if this is the prescription in my glasses. I select “yep, I confirm this is my current Rx”, but the app never moves past that question. I have restarted the process a couple times but it always hits this snag. Other than that, great app

Black Screen Every Time the Test is About to Start. I just downloaded this because I desperately need new glasses and I’ve set it up 5 times now and every time I get to the text I get a black screen on my phone while my computer continuously tells me to “remeasure.” I am at the correct distance. Every time I remeasure I get the ok and then another black screen. If there’s a solution, please help. I’d love to change my review.

NOT working. I was told by Warby Parker that it’s quick and easy to renew my prescription on this app. Once I got the measure my card to see the computer size properly it didn’t work. This is so frustrating! I already paid for my glasses!

Very Convenient and easy to use. I needed glasses but appointment with the optometrist is not until December. I was able to do to the virtual test really quickly and easily and got my prescription renovated the next day. Now I’m ready to concert season lol

Awful service. This is the second time I’ve attempted to use the vision test to renew my prescription, and both times it has been a disaster. Even though they say the test will be reviewed in 2 days, it just keeps bouncing back and forth from doctor to doctor. Their customer service is terrible too, none of them are helpful and most are very condescending. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

Not compatible with iPhone 12. Please be aware that according to Warby Parker after successfully doing my exam on my iPhone 12 I was notified that they cannot accept tests from iPhone 12 users. This is not stated anywhere on the website or the App Store so please before you waste your time like I did do not use this app on iPhone 12, they will not accept your results.

Simple, quick, no problems!. Very well designed app. No issues whatsoever; extremrly quick to setup, and use. Very clear explanations, and cheaper than any other options!

Doesn’t work with iPads. I spent 30 minutes using and restarting the vision test when it crashed only to hear 24 hours later that, despite going through the whole test, the results can’t be used. You absolutely need to remove iPad compatibility from you app description if I can’t actually use it. This was a waste of my time and I am exceptionally disappointed with this application.

Super cool!. So easy and genius. I find out soon if they will renew my prescription, and they only charge you the $15 for the test if they can in fact renew the prescription based on your test results.

Wow. I don’t have to waste my time to schedule an eye exam weeks from now knowing my eyesight is pretty much the same from two years ago. Amazing job you guys have been doing over at Warby Parker over the years.

Has never worked. In the half dozen times I have tried to use this app over a number of years it has never once worked correctly. As other reviewers have also experienced, once I complete the distance calibration and am ready to begin the first step the app hangs on a blank screen with the browser saying I need to reset my distance. I wait, I restart the app, I restart a prescription check, but I have never been able to get beyond this point.

Scam. Updated prescriptions haven’t actually been required to order glasses online since like 2005. This is a scam to get you download this app and pay $15, assuming it worked. It doesn’t. I have a prescription and it’s less than two years old. I know if my eyes changed. They haven't. I will not be purchasing anything from this app and will get my glasses elsewhere. Not worth the hassle.

Completely crashes every time. Useless. This app crashed every time I tried to use it. Unfortunately there is no store close by for me to get an updated rx (even though my rx works fine), so I’ll be cancelling my order.

Garbage. The app is garbage. I took the test seven different times and it never could finalize the exam. Every time I submitted it asked me to log back in. Each time saying it was sending me a link because I hadn’t logged in in a long time. Finally it said I had reached the maximum number of login attempts and locked me out of my account. It now wants me to change my password but the app is locked up so I can’t change the password. This app is garbage.

Worked well after a few technical issues. I had to uninstall and reinstall several times, also ensure my iOS and apps were updated and that I was using internet explorer, I managed to get it to work pretty easily after that. I did call the help desk and they were very friendly.

Almost perfect. Had to take it three times. Then decided to delete the app, and reinstall. Wasn’t able to get past the upload prescription section. After I reinstalled everything worked perfectly

Amazing!. SO IMPRESSED. I’m currently at the Armitage office in Chicago. I came in for the prescription test; however there was an IT error so I used this app with the assistance of one of your employees. She was SO HELPFUL! Also I’m amazed by your technology! Thanks for being such a phenomenal company! You’re making the world a better place!

What a time saver!. Well worth the money when you know your script hasn’t changed! I can’t believe this wasn’t invented sooner. I’d pay for this ten times over. Thank you Warby Parker!

No choice to re-upload????. All was going great until i accidentally hit a pic too fast instead of uploading the picture of my prescription. There was no way to go back I upload which may mean that i wasted the 10 minutes of the test of this can’t get fixed. Just please add that option. It’s nerve wracking to get this far for nothing.

Scam is right. My Rx has remained the same over 20 years. I signed up to use this to avoid going into an optometrist and to expedite the process for getting new Rx sunglasses. They promise a 24-hour turnaround. It’s been over 3 days with no word, no way to access my account online, and no way to contact them. The app also crashed mid-test, and there’s no option to save this info! So I had to start over. I would like a refund for this deceptive app that is not fulfilling the services it promised.

useless and unreliable. completely useless. It kept telling me to moved back to 10 feet but when I was done I measured and was 25 feet away. It kept taking me through the 2 eyes but then saying I moved so I had to take it 4 times. If you can’t read pt 12 font from 25 feet away on a two inch wide phone dont waste your time. They legit want to charge 15$ for this manure

Disappointing. Nice interface and fun to interact with during the question phase but then they need your last prescription... for me that was 5 years and 3 moves ago (including overseas). At no point during the “Here’s what you need” portion of the questions, or in the app description as of this writing, do they mention it. Without that, my only option was to book an appointment, so the app was pointless for me. Maybe you should just go to the eye doctor.

Annoyed. I thought this was a cool concept and was excited to try it. 3 months later I Am still waiting for rx approval. There is no contact number to reach anyone from warby Parker to assist me. I am disappointed and was hoping this would work out. In the amount of time this has taken ( and I still don’t have an answer if i get a prescription) I could have seen several eye doctors. I have been trying to be patient but it’s been 3 months.

Not working for me at all. I have not been able to even get to doing the vision test as the app asks you to back up about 10 feet and they will let you know when you can start the test. I’ve backed up about 16 feet and have tried to do this in various locations that are well lit with nothing behind me and nothing. The app never registers how far away I’m standing.

SO organized and easy to follow!. I truly have never experienced some thing so organized and easy to follow from start to finish. Thank you Warby Parker!

It’s fine... Don’t going on but it keeps saying that there was an error with submitting my test. This is my second time trying this because they said that my prescription wasn’t currently in their range.. anyways it’s just weird. Not sure if it’s a connection issue but I’d rather spend $15 than the $75 with a regular eye exam…

At home exam. My phone has trouble reading the computer distance checker. I wasn’t able to select my current prescription I was wearing at the end through the Warby Site even though my last pair of glasses was from there I had to get up and find my old paper script

Can’t pass test even with my newest Rx. My vision isn’t too bad. Wearing my old prescription glasses (the Rx I was trying to renew through the app) I couldn’t pass it. I went to the doctor and got an updated prescription (which was barely changed from my previous Rx). I wanted to try the test again to see if I could pass wearing my new, doctor provided glasses, and I still couldn’t pass the test for renewal. So I guess it was pointless.

Very intuitive. Great use of technology and was a delight to use. It's almost gamified in a way and i found myself chuckling as I navigated through the various tests. Saved me a lot of time and headache of going to a doctor. Bravo to this product team! 👍🏼

Waste of time. I used an iPad to take this test. It worked great! I finished the whole thing. And then Warby Parker emailed me two hours later to say my device wasn’t valid. I’m sorry but if you can design an app to test someone’s vision, you can design an app to sense what type of device it’s on before beginning the test. Or, at the very least put somewhere on your site that it cannot be used with an iPad, even if it’s on the same iOS.

Perscription Test.. Test doesnt initially work properly. I used a credit union debit card this time (2nd time),but showed on checkout a debit card I no longer have. Had to use a Truist Bank Card today by changing information. Hopefully, my two choices will cone back with lenses after I send all 5 frames back!!!

Great, but you still need to show last prescription. I used this app thinking it would save me a trip for an eye exam. However, after taking the entire test, it requires you upload your old prescription. Had I know this, I wouldn’t have bothered because mine was destroyed. There should be a notice about this requirement before taking the test.

Stopped working. Went to a grey screen in the middle and stopped working. I’d be willing to forgive that, but when I restarted the app it lost everything - didn’t even remember my account. Just gave up at that point I don’t want to spend another ten minutes just to have it fail again.

Just Let Me Take The Test!. The app forces you through a set of questions to check whether Warby Parker can renew your prescription. Well, I don’t have a prescription and just want to take the test to see if I should see an optometrist. There should be an option to skip all the steps and just take the test. Show disclaimers, make me check a box that says I understand it can’t be used for a prescription, or whatever. Just let me take the test!

I just want to do everything from my phone. Technology, right? The only thing that bothered me was the delay between my swiping and the computer registering my answers. Could have been my internet though.

Waste of time. Complete waste of time. The test will keep freezing and all the support team say to do is update the app despite me telling them I already have the latest version they just keep telling me to update the app. Don’t even bother wasting your time to only get half way through the test then for it to crash and never get past that point and all support will you to do is ‘update the app’.

Dry cool technology. The distance from the computer technology was next generation. Very easy to follow. Hoping for an accurate prescription reading! I will use this in the future pending solid results.

I didn’t even have to leave my house!. I love that I could basically “renew” my prescription without leaving my house or having to pay for a full-on eye exam at an optometrist! Easy to follow instructions too. I had a little hiccup setting up my distance from my laptop at first but then it went smoothly.

Best App. This was the best app I experienced that felt like in person eye exam experience. Easy to use with helpful videos. I would for sure share with others bout this app. Very useful especially during this pandemic as it’s challenging to get appointments.

Bummer- lPhone was never able to read the screen.. iPhone was never able read the screen. I tried everything possible, closed blinds, opened blinds, turned lights on, turned lights off, upped the brightness, dimmed the brightness. The instructions only have me minimal support. I don’t know - maybe it was my phone or computer... but there’s nothing unique or special about my apt or phone. Really disappointed.

Yoooo. As a mobile product manager and UX enthusiast, this is a pretty sick app. Took less than 10 minutes, love the interactivity with my computer, the SFX, the conversational UI, the whole experience. You win! Also the glasses are pretty cute.

Amazing. That saved this busy working mom a few hours I would be spent making, possible rescheduling, and finally driving to and from and attending my appointment. Thank you!

Great design, poor execution. I really wanted this to work well. I love Warby Parker and the concept of doing at home vision test for a fraction of the cost sounded amazing. I downloaded the app and followed the instructions, but once I tried to proceed to submit my results I received an error that the "user validation failed" and had to take it over again. Rinse and repeat two more times and I just said forget it. Excellent in theory, but misses the mark in practice.

Doesn’t work. I was so excited to use this to get a pair of glasses to hold me over until my next appointment. The app information showed that my phone (iPhone 11) is compatible, but the app kept saying that my computer and phone couldn’t read each other. Once I got to about 10 feet (according to the app... but it was really at least 20 feet) it would not read so I could never take the test. Seriously disappointed.

Crashed. I got completely through the exam and questions to the point where it asked me to click on the pair of Warby Parker glasses I was wearing in the exam and then it just crashed on me! And it didn’t remember where I had left off in the process so I have to start all over again.

Doesn’t Work. Tried several times over the last few months with no luck. It’s always stuck saying I’m 0ft away from my camera no matter where I am in room. Contacted customer service a month ago and haven’t heard a peep. WP used to be so much better than this. Very disappointed. Update to response: Why would I email mobileapps again if they didn’t respond to my original email from Aug 12?!? lol

Awesome Test … Put your animals away!. I had to retake the test 5x because it said I kept moving closer! I was getting so angry because I wasn’t moving! Finally, I realized my dog was rolling around on the floor and it kept picking up his movements! So just a heads up put your animals in another room!

See an actual Dr. This app is a waste of time. Just go and see an actual Dr that can actually check the health of your eyes, instead of an app that barely works. An actual Dr is not going to kill you, and it won’t take all day if you show up early/on time for your appointment, and are nice to the staff. Also, the Dr’s office has staff that will actually help you pick out glasses that are right for your face shape and prescription. You don’t get that personalized service from an app.

There is a reason you see an optometrist. Im a dentist. However i see this much like i see smiledirect for dentistry. There is no liability. The consumer is more at risk. Im all for tecnology. But i see this as trying to go around the medical profession to make money. How can you get a quality exam from this? Why do we want to give business to a company when we could give it to our local community optometrist. If money is super tight, I might understand. But i dont see this as being nearly as good as visiting with someone in person.

Convenient but finicky. Super convenient! I’m very glad they offer this option, but the app is finicky. Toward the end of the eye test, you upload a photo of your most recent prescription. When I tried to do this, the app froze and closed and I had to start the whole test over again.
