SoFi - Mobile Banking Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Pleasantly surprised!. Initially I was drawn in because of the generous $300 new account bonus (with at least 5k of direct deposit in a 30-day period). I’ve been using Chase for many years and have been mostly satisfied with it, but heck, I’ll hop on any reasonable opportunity to get free money! My thought was to open a new checking/saving account, set up direct deposit, and once I get my bonus, I’ll transfer very thing back to Chase. Well, the opposite is happening—I’m now transitioning most of my money to SoFi!😆 Kudos to SoFi for the alluring bonus plus a whole bunch of other simple tasks you can complete to earn reward points=free money! I mean, what other financial institution gives you $5 for activating its new credit card? Or setting up auto payment? Or putting the credit card into your digital wallet!? Heck, I even got $8 (and I had no idea you could get points that way) for loading money in my Starbucks app via Apple Pay. Was that a glitch!? Lol. Anyhow, I’m so impressed with SoFi that I’m recommending it to people I know (referral perks are nice too!) Keep up the great work, SoFi!

Lots of good features (maybe too much). SoFi has a lot of great features not found in other internet bank apps. Chime is my primary bank, but I use SoFi for their vaults. I love the vaults feature because I like to be super organized with my savings, and I have considered moving to SoFi as my main bank because of it and they ability to automatic split payments for direct deposit. My biggest complaint is this app is a lot! It’s almost overwhelming. SoFi really needs to take a more minimalist approach. The app UI could really be simplified a lot. They need make investing a separate app. It’s too much for someone like me just using the app for a bank. The homepage has too much irrelevant information. They need to get rid of the loan section or hide it better. It doesn’t need a whole tab. The credit card section would much better off just integrated into the bank section. SoFi also has an overwhelming amount of services they try role you into using. They really need redo the app from scratch with a simple, elegant user interface.

Can’t verify identity? Account active and open?. I opened an account and linked several other banking accounts through the plaid service. Transfer a decent amount to the account and funds settled. Direct Deposits are also coming through the new account. Even my address SoFi has matches my drivers license. I attempt to apply for a credit card through the app and get a message saying that my identity can’t be verified. I have yet to receive an email on how I can resolve the issue and yet there is message on the app that says I can apply at a later date? I thought FDIC rules said your identity must be verified prior to opening an account. Well my account is open and not blocked so what is the issue? I thought fintech companies operate their algorithms better than traditional banks, and yet every time I try to do business it’s always something. Very discouraging I have never had this problem with a traditional bank and if there is a problem they send a secure message or provide clear instructions on how to resolve it. I dare not give y’all call, I been through that horror. Fintech reps ain’t trained in banking like at Capital One or another well known institution they just know basic customer service.

Amazing app with a few suggestions for the developers. I was looking for a way to have all my finances in one place and this is it. They have this awesome feature called vaults that allows you to store money for different goals/uses. At first the app looks like an advertisement, but all are important products they offer so I understand. If you are going to have crypto there needs to be a way to have the keys! The credit card is above average in terms of rewards. The investing side seems a little game like I would prefer to it to be more professional looking, coming from Charles Schwab. I am very excited to move my student loans into sofi when the time comes. Relay is also an interesting feature where you can track your activity. I would like the ability to set a budget and then compare my spending to what I set. Being able to do this in app would be a game changer. Also, if there is a way to be able to loan out shares and get paid that would be an amazing addition. I would also like the ability to choose a stock allocation and my monthly contribution be spread out accordingly, very similar to how it is done with m1 finance. Also the more financial data I can pull up about a company the better, I can’t use your app without pulling up seeking alpha for a more complete picture.

Slow and Choppy. When making a payment to a statement balance that is less than 2k the payment posts quickly, updates limit, and interest charge at 0%. Recently made a large transaction and made balance payment before it was due but had to wait over a week from the time payment drafted from my bank account to post to my available credit on the app. Now when I view my Home Screen it still shows available credit limit prior to payment but when I tap the credit card icon the information seems correct but scrolling up and down to view specifics is very choppy and the display jumps up and down. Not experiencing this with any other applications on my phone, isolated experience to the SoFi app. The format of the app is excellent and ease of investing also very convenient. Love the available rewards as well but, possibility of being declined at the register for system delay issues creates hesitation to utilize the SoFi card. Please address this issue and you will have an outstanding product that users can be proud to share.

Some suggestions. This is a great app! I plan on moving my wife and I’s direct deposits here. However, I did have a couple of suggestions. 1. Please add scroll-to-top functionality for clicking at the top of the screen. 2. Separate all of the SoFi articles and such either into a separate tab or separate area. Most people want the “home” of their finance app to just be account overviews and such. Not a barrage of articles and suggestions. Also, every time the app is opened, it loads all of this stuff which is probably slowing it down a bit. 3. Add the ability to remove some of the “Accounts” at the very top of the Home tab. Such as life insurance (which I already have through my employer) and Student Loan Refi. 4. Refine the ability to create and maintain budgets. I’d even be willing to pay for this feature if it is refined enough. Monarch is able to charge $100/year for their budgeting app. By refine, I mean: a.) Add other connection options (Plaid is the main one, but doesn’t work with some providers). An example of one I’ve seen in Monarch is MX. b.) Make it so that reoccurring charges can be added/modified/maintained. Currently, they can only be recategorized. And it’s not picking up on my monthly mortgage payment from what I can tell as well as one of my utility bills. c.) Add the option to view all daily/monthly/yearly reoccurring charges at once. Currently, “reoccurring activity” only allows you to add or manage accounts. Pretty useless in my opinion as it is right now.

Great app, could use some quality of life improvements. SoFi is hands down my favorite app for fee-free automated investing and it’s pretty good at manual investing too. Personally I don’t use any of the other loan or relay options. I think it would be helpful to be able to set a “tab” as a default landing page when opening the app, so for me, the invest tab, just to save me a few taps every time I open the app. Manual stock watchlist sorting would be great so we can keep our favorites on top of the list but still be able to switch to % or $ day change when needed. It would also be great if you could change the timespan of the watchlist stock graphs like you can when you click on a single stock. A 1 week, month, quarter, year, etc. view would be really helpful as a toggle at the top of the watchlist so you can get an idea as to how all of your stocks are trending over time at once on the watchlist section. Without having to click on every single stock once and then backing out to check the next for week or month trend.

Tired of getting screwed, any banks out there still honest?. Switched to SOFI because I was getting screwed from other banking institutions. Now I feel like they don’t even use lube. From the start I have had money get taken out because of “fees” from same accounts using same funding source. Called immediately and was apologized to by someone and fees were reversed. I think they do that just to placate because not even hour after call the fees were charged again not once but twice. Call back and it’s same circus go round, we’re sorry let me take that off for you. Only to get recharged. What, no you’ll have to call our investor service department that’s a different service. Back and forth, all to scam as much money out of people as possible and to keep that money coming in daily. Here’s another, yes sir I see the 2 deposits on the same day from the same funding account but only 1 funds available. We have to hold the other for up to 7 days or something. How is that right? Both deposits are gone from other bank. I can’t get that money back. But I can only access the 1? So if anyone knows any other banking institution that is better, post it. Use it instead, it’s not worth the switch. Really, they’ll get it out of you $$$

My New Business Partner. SoFi is such a blessing. I thank God for this company, at first I was a bit nervous because I wasn’t sure if it was legit or not because I never knew of anyone personally that used them. I did my research & step out of faith and SoFi came thru for me. They help me pay off my $10,000 credit card debt within two years (yah yah I know my debt was a lot), your able to pick how many years you would like I picked two because I have goals. The blessings about it the payments I have with SoFi is about the same amount I pay monthly without the loan but it would’ve been me just paying the minimum payments every month in it would’ve took me yearsssss like 15 years to pay off with the high interest rate on my cards per my cards statements tell me. SoFi saved me soooo much time & money. I look forward to doing future business with them. I would recommend this company to anybody. The process was quick and easy. Thank you SoFi you help take a huge burden off my shoulders.

Absolute worst customer service!!!!. The one star I suppose is for the terrific interface which is simple, fun, and beautiful. What’s lurking behind it is just plain old terrible customer service. 1-hour plus wait times to talk to the first person who can’t help you. They are the gatekeeper to the mysterious “advisor” who is the only one who can actually fix your account or make any decisions. He or she is another two hours away, but if you hit their closing time the hold music will go dead but your phone will keep running. That’s the hint that you could be on the line till next Tuesday and nobody will touch your account until they’ve gone home, slept and had a nutritious dinner and complete breakfast, walk the dog and washed the car before they will mosey on in and make you wait another three hours before the attend your life and death financial matters. I am not kidding when I say they told me I would have to WAIT 7 BUSINESS DAYS FOR AN “ADVISOR” TO CALL ME BACK!!!! I kid you not. I swear. With no sense of irony at all they told me to fix my account to where my direct deposit would not get reject I would have to wait SEVEN (7) BUSINESS days , not just like linear days of the week to include the 48 hours of weekends, but 7 only counting M-F and excluding holidays, to fix my account to accept the money that I slave over during the week S-Sat. Don’t be fooled by the pretty app and overspending on advertising. It’s a sham.

I left a bad review but have since changed my mind.. It was my fault but I am still learning. I am still trying to to understand their overdraft. I just don’t want my card to have that option. I don’t want a charge to go thru. Everything else is good. Their app has a Robinhood with credit karma vibe. I hope they keep extending their connection possibilities. Doing auto connection is nice but manual as a back up no matter the account is awesome. Also it would be cool to have a virtual bullion vault where you can prove you have it by scanning the bullion every month. Also a collector vault like coins, cards etc would be cool. So far so good. I was rude w customer service a few times and I’m sorry. I do wish everything that happens in account was documented in tracking. So if a charge tries on your card and it’s denied then i would like to have a record of that instead of just a notification. But they are still new. So I’m hoping to trust and grow with them. I plan on hopefully moving all 15 of my accounts to one place bc I’m exhausted at having so many accounts even as a Broke man.

Has not improved over time.. Update: haven’t reviewed this in years but after using app again I found that it’s extremely poorly coded, my phone heats up massively when I open it and absolutely demolishes the battery. Whatever it’s doing it shouldn’t be. Fix the app. Old: Has a lot of issues lately, can’t update my manual relay accounts, gives error messages over and over. Also with their money account I was supposed to get a $75 bonus for doing direct deposit.. never was paid for that. That was the last time I trust their offers as they’ve screwed me over repeatedly not paying what they owe. No other bank has failed to pay out their promised bonuses, but SoFi has done so repeatedly. Also the app interface is pretty lacking as there’s no dark mode and it’s all web-based lazy coding. They haven’t implemented ANY of the suggestions I provided over the months. Update: although I love SoFi, I have to lower my rating because they have completely stopped crediting me for referrals.. they actually owe me over $1000 in successful referrals. I might have to take further action on this. - It doesn’t support all my accounts and I wish it would open right into my Relay view by default, but for the most part I’m really impressed by what I’ve seen. As for suggestions, I wish I could tag multiple transactions at once and have it automatically tag similar items! Doing it manually one by one is time consuming. Also it categorizes incorrectly a lot of transfers as income/expenses.

super impressive 💚🤑. I’m an existing Wells Fargo client and I’ve been so since graduating high school. It was my first bank account…but it was just that- a bank account. With SoFi I’m excited to log in and complete tasks for points. I love how the investing portion (if you decide to dip into the investment waters) is incorporated within the banking experience. It does a lot for you! It tracks my income to the penny and teaches me better money habits while it’s at it. Also a lot of helpful articles within the homepage. Some might see that as overwhelming but I can tell their UX design team really looked into the psychology consumer behavior so as to make it seamless, clean and easy to use. And no monthly fees! No overdraft fees!! No fees!!! If anything you’re incentivized. So for example, if you deposit over $1000 in employer direct deposit you get a $50 “spot me” limit in case you go over. I mean who does that?! and that’s just one of those incentives. Soon I will need to refinance my student loans and I’m thrilled to do it through SoFi. 💰

Great app, but could be better.. I’ve been logging into this app pretty much every day since I started my SoFi account at the beginning of July. It has a very clean interface, and definitely not cluttered. I use the iPhone app on the go, and the iPad app when I have more than a simple transaction, or I’m needing to do multiple things at home. I absolutely LOVE the Vaults feature - I’ve been wanting a feature like that for years, and was the biggest impetus in getting me to switch. In the app, it’s quick, easy, and instant to transfer money between SoFi accounts and in and out of Vaults. Could be better: Allow customers to hide products that don’t apply to them (i.e. I’ve been out of school for almost 25 years, and won’t be getting a student loan anytime soon), complete allowing the entire app to work in dark mode, instead of just certain screens. Allow SoFi Insights to function similarly to a check register for transactions, so we can mark them as "paid" or "reconciled". I know SoFi is still a bit new to the banking game, and there will be growing pains I’m sure - but so far they’ve got a good handle on it, and this app is proof of that. I hope to see incremental improvements that will make this one of the best banking apps available.

Great but Lacks Recurring Transfer Abilities. Great simple app that lets you segregate your savings into “Vaults”, so they can act like sinking funds all the while still giving you 4.2% on all the savings and Vaults when you set up direct deposit to go to Sofi. However, I find it extremely annoying they have not added the ability to do Recurring Transfer from Sofi to external accounts even after TWO years of users like myself saying we NEED IT. For example, if I wanted to send money to my checkings at another bank (credit union) to pay for my auto loan I cannot do that. I like to pay my auto loan with my credit union account because they give me 0.25% off the interest rate when I pay with one of their accounts. This means I have to MANUALLY transfer my money every month to pay for my car loan. This is 2023 people, let’s automate payments whenever possible. If they added this function, I would likely be a more long term customer but this really turned me off. I do enjoy the savings rate, but I would consider looking to other banks to keep my money at if they don’t add this feature within the year.

A little wonky.. There’s certain things I’m not very happy with, like the fact that I can’t get a virtual temporary card when I am replacing a card. I can’t pay for anything but in cash right now for over a week. That’s ridiculous. I also am not a fan of not being able to track where my replacement card is, and that if I straight up don’t receive it all I can do is order another and wait another 10 business days and don’t have the option to expedite. I switched from chime and they gave me a temporary card and it was super helpful. I got bills to pay man. Sticking with it only for the high interest rate for savings. Additionally the app really isn’t that user friendly because there’s too much offers going on. It makes it difficult to find what I’m looking for. Annnnd lastly it seems like many of the help pages have inaccurate information (as you can see from the many MORE people who don’t find the articles helpful rather than do). I’ve been trying to add my card to my wallet, however instead of a text to verify, I have to call ? However verifying a card doesn’t seem to be an option. If I can’t get that to work, it’s a deal breaker. I’ll find another bank with good interest rates.

I love SOFI, here is what is wrong with it. I came to SOFI for the benefit of having all my finances within one easy-access online bank. I also have an investment account through E*Trade, their investment platform is far more beneficial for investors. Some examples include if SOFI were to create watchlist groupings, Stock and Index comparison tools, and more detailed portfolio dashboards. I should be able to see my portfolio in a similar manner to what the big boy investment companies use; give me the advanced financials to do research. (Or at least what the analysts are telling me 🤓) While I find the Invest platform useful and convenient with great features like the ease of banking to investing cash flow and the automated investing which creates your own hands off investment account through recurring deposit. I will be moving all of my investing funds off of SOFI until they improve their user experience. I will still maintain other SOFI features that I use but would love to one day bring it all home to an improved system.

Disrespectful customer service. So basically I worked for someone was given a check from that company with the company name on it doing snow so only one day 482$ dollars turns out that guy gave me a check to his old account witch is no longer open so checks returned ok I understand that so an investigator calls me asking questions and so forth ok no problems there at the end of call I ask what’s going on my account it says temporary frozen till I call so he tells me that he is putting it in to take the freeze of and my accounts and that I will be able to use debit card pay bill and everything else then I get an email hours later saying still frozen can’t do any of that. So I call the provided number and tell the lady this where she goes on to tell me the my account is being closed that is all the info she can provide so I ask if t can talk with the security team or whoever makes these decisions and she says no she is my last point of contact she has no management or supervisor so she has basically told me she doesn’t make that decision but she is above the investigator and my last point of contact cause there’s no supervisor or management not just not available but that there is none so I ask who does. She answer to if there’s no one above you where she then says I’m not being the call I ask her not to hang up witch she does anyway

Terrible Investor platform & customer service. I am an extremely experienced online investor since E*trade was started. I left them when I only had a few thousands to invest. Why? Customer service was terrible and they began to tie up your money for inexplicable reasons. This led to missed trade opportunities & 5-10 day holds with no interest or recourse. Now, I have a portfolio a thousand time larger after a couple decades and I decided to test the waters to spread out my risk. SOFI failed and failed miserably. This was after they solicited me. They failed to execute a very simple requested trade. Not a huge trade but a test. They failed to execute without explanation other than my request wasn’t considered substantial and/or a priority. I had to hunt someone down via the maze of click deterrent Bots and the limited app capabilities. I don’t recommend this app or it’s other services that request any transfer of funds. Stay with a proven and blue chip firm. The way a company treats whom they believe are the smallest of customers is the ways they will eventually treat the largest of customers. Also in this digital age there is absolutely no reason it takes 3-5 day to get your funds back/transferred when it took less than 24 to take it out of your account.

Old guy new to Fintech...and other techie products. I’m an older man that is learning these new millennial trends like online banking. Because of my age and disability, my generation like to do things the old way, like going to a physical bank. But as of late, I have a hard time being mobile and waiting in the long lines because of the pandemic. I had no choice but to conquer my fears to learn about how to use the computer and understand the latest technology. And believe me, many of us old people struggle to learn the latest technologies. Regarding SoFi, I can not believe the simplicity of using the app. It is easier to use than what I thought because of difficulties from other online Fintech companies that made me struggle. Because I never understood about playing the stock market, SoFi made it easy for me to buy shares, which I never had the education or knowledge on where to start. Not only that, the customer service were helpful in guiding me when I did have little hiccups. Much credit to this new company making my banking online easier in my life.

SoFi has pluses and minuses. On the plus side is the possibility of a fully integrated personal financial system that incentivises sound practices like saving and investing. On the negative side, the app (and desktop interface) feel very cluttered with SoFi offerings that I can’t use or don’t need (and can’t hide or get rid of), which litters my screen and pushes the features I do use or need further down the page and makes me have to hunt for things. The interface needs to be much more customisable to alleviate this problem for committed users. A larger problem for me personally is that I want to move my primary banking and bill pay to SoFi, but their tools for tracking and categorising spending are so limited that this could ultimately be a deal-killer for me. You are limited to a few general spending categories which they define and the only way to customise transactions within these pre-determined categories are with tags (which are not searchable). Every time I categorize a transaction, I have to visually scan through a growing list of tags, trying to find the right one for each transaction. This makes the simple act of trying to accurately track my spending a tedious and laborious process. I hope they rectify this soon with more robust categorisation tools (like Mint) or I may have to abandon any plans to migrate my spending to SoFi since I depend on accurately tracked spending reports in order to do my taxes.

but beware of unwarranted inconvenient frozen funds. Unfortunately, I don’t like to give out bad reviews, but this one takes the cake I had just received my disbursement from my college and using SoFi as my main banking system, I was abruptly Bankrupt by Sofi with a frozen account taking every last dollar that I had and giving me only 20 minutes to upload a photo of my identification while I was on transit which made it nearly impossible. In fact, I was able to get the things that I need to get that night because they made sure that there was no way that I could use my money in SoFi. I think this is a great app to use. Your face is very easy to use and it does allow you to invest in companies and have a social social platform.I was really happy with this app in company until this unfortunate series of events occurred, whichWhich I notified the representative initially, who showed no concern of my situation, and put the timer with the link to upload my Identification.I am all for security,But securing somebody out of their own funds, just doesn’t sit well with me. The situation gave me an immense amount of anxiety, and I hope that this review will help change some of their guidelines and procedures to make sure that things are secure, but also making sure that someone like myself does not get put in a vulnerable situation when the ‘frozen account status’ occurs by changing some simple personal information on the application

Everything you need from a true investing app. I would have given this platform 5 stars but due to the amount of time and uncertainty on how long it will take to review and approve my account I can’t it has been 12 hrs and still no update I can’t wait onto start trading !! Also what makes me give this app four stars, well now that I’m including this I should have rated 3 stars but this is a honest review so I’ll be fair. But what’s frustrating is that most of these investment services or “apps” use plaid when connecting your bank account and that is soooooo frustrating when I can’t link any of my bank accounts to SoFi because they don’t support my institution or bank so now I’m trying to figure out how to add money when I have 3 bank accounts and none of them will connect ugggh I just wanna trade!! But overall if you’re looking for a good overall investing experience this is the app to go for you will not be dissapointed!!! I love the fact u can see what other users are investing and watching as well pretty neat !!!

Great App!!!!!!. I think the sofi app is great. It’s convenient to manage all your personal finances, pay your bills, monitor your spending, buy stocks & crypto all in one place. It also has a high interest rate(1.25% up to $50k in each account) on their checking and savings accounts. I would like to see them add more money management features that would rival personal finance software from quicken, etc. that you have to pay for. I also like their credit card. It rewards you 2% cash back but currently 3% for an entire year on all transactions. But, the real reason I like their credit card is you get the cash back a couple weeks after your transaction instead of waiting till the end of the year. They also give me cash back for auto-investing. Investing on a regular basis is something I already do, now I get cash back for it. It also monitors my credit score at no additional cost. This features pretty much shows me what actions causes my credit score to go down or up. For example, my score dropped 8 points because I recently charged a $2300 purchase on one of my credit cards. It also shows me how much I saved each month by subtracting all my expenses from my income each month. Plus much more!

My absolute favorite all-in-one finance app. SoFi is an amazing company. The app is super slick and intuitive. I absolutely love the ease of bucketing my money into different accounts (for individual savings goals and budgeting), and I love the instant access to cash between my checking and investing account. I can trade stocks/funds instantly by tapping into my checking account. The interest rate on checking and savings (1.25% at the time of this review) is very competitive, and serves well as a place to store you idle cash (such as emergency fund, short term savings goals, etc.). Everything is clearly displayed on your dashboard in an easy-to-digest format. I can see my whole financial picture (including debts and loans) all in one place. SoFi stands for “Social Finance”, and that is exactly what this app nails. You can follow and track your friends investments, and see what other people are doing. It encourages transparency and openness, and motivates you to save and invest more. I feel like SoFi improves certain elements of behavioral finance where others have failed (i.e., Robinhood and the gamification of investing). I’m so honored and excited to belong as a member of SoFi, and can’t wait to watch this incredible company grow over the coming years.

Login problems. I downloaded the app to track my loan. The app only offered the option to login with email. It never allowed me to enter my email or password, instead saying there was an error. It gave me the option to call support, but there is no option for app support in the phone tree. I had to talk to a loan person to get technical support, which they couldn’t do. I was transferred to another person, who had me do troubleshooting on their website (never had any problems there). He didn’t see any problems with my access and had to be told repeatedly (5x) that the app wasn’t working to even try checking it. He told me to enter my email address and password, but as I told him previously, there was no place to do so. He had me completely remove the app from my phone, and when I reinstalled the app, I was prompted to enter my email and password, for the first time. One would think things were good? Wrong! As soon as I logged out, it would not allow logging in until I went to the login screen and back to the initial screen before the login screen would work, where it accessed my account with cached settings, plus as I scrolled up and down the screen vibrated as long as I was scrolling. Poor security design. No CISSP developers at that company.

Don’t do paperless. If you have a SoFi student loan this app not is integrated fully. And since your student loan is not integrated and cannot receive notifications from your SoFi student loan, you will not get any indication if your autopayment fails. You cannot rely on SoFi to inform you if there’s a problem at all if you have paperless communication. Therefore I suggest turning off paperless because they WILL send you paper mail, even that that’s way less secure than email. I almost had a 30day late payment after autopay failed and 3 more attempts to pay failed because I had no idea the payments were failing. Also the pay failures were because I updated the routing number for my SoFi bank on my SoFi loan’s autopay, which apparently does not change the same SoFi bank information on the same SoFi student loan. I’ll say that again because it’s absurdly confusing. The autopay bank info and the bank info for the same bank are remembered in two separate locations in the student loan, you have to update it twice. And if you have paperless communication on then they refuse to tell you if payments fail and this app does not communicate digitally. Essentially, they might ruin your credit because of bad communication.

Cool concept but they won’t verify my account. This is partially a complaint about the business, but the business and the app seem to be two in one. I like the idea but the app is a little bit laggy and it WILL NOT verify my account. I keep getting emails saying they couldn’t verify it and so I was going to try re-entering my name and info in case something was wrong (and/or they needed a middle name or initial) and it turns out I can’t even change the info I entered in whole unless I call the company. The problem with THAT is that there were practically a hundred people in line ahead of me on the phone and the whole reason I got the app was because I wanted a quick solution, and I don’t have all day. I am sure this app is great when it works, but there is no reason they should be able to verify my personal info and let me use the app. Or at the very least, tell me if you want a middle name or something so I can include that the first time rather than spending an hour trying to fix my account. Also, I was offered ten dollars in free stocks when I got the app, but after re-attempting to make an account, it changed my promo award to five dollars, which is a small detail but it’s annoying nonetheless. As of now, I’m still waiting for my account to be verified, or to find a way to fix my account. They don’t even have a support email, only chat or phone, which is difficult if you don’t have two hours to wait in line.

Too many steps to transfer money. The updated UX to transfer money from one account to another is overly designed and requires too many taps to do a simple task. It takes me at least 9 taps for each transfer! Why so many steps SoFi? I commend the effort on the updated transfer UI but the increased steps add extra friction makes a simple task unnecessarily complex. The UI is also a bit weird because my eye goes straight to selecting the transfer from and to accounts before I enter in the amount, even though the amount sits at the top. Not sure why half of the screen is dedicated to displaying the amount…again, overly designed with little value added. This experience feels like it was form/UI led when it should be function/UX led. Also, the default account that gets selected for “from” is never the one i want to transfer from, so when I tap in to make an edit, I always have to select a different account. And if I do enter in an amount first before choosing which account to transfer from, I get an error telling me I don’t have sufficient funds to transfer that amount. Well yeah, of course I don’t because you preselected an account for me without knowing how much I want to transfer, which is your fault but you’re alerting me that I did something wrong. This creates a negative user experience for me. I hope you’ll consider improving this update, especially the excessive number of taps!

Sofi invest update. I know this is a lot but I think you should try a crypto car. The user would have a crypto portfolio in that portfolio her can have whatever crypto he/she wants. And as many (at least 5). Then a user fills that portfolio with money not the currency. The app then calculates how many shares they will get for each share. Like a 24/7 currency monitor that will always reflect whatever dollar amount he/she has in the “SoFi Crypto” accnt. Then he or she can make purchases and sell with crypto with everyday purchases. Once your a bank you’ll be the first with this Imagine to be able to not even exchange coin because “Sofi Crypto” is the wallet. You just link your accnt or transfer any other sofi accnt, fund the crypto and go. Since you guys are all about learning you can persuade them by teaching people to sell and trade with Bitcoin is an investment. Yes at times a risky one. But luckily enough there’s more than one coin. And that’s where you can lure them. It can be a safe haven for your money. So instead of risking your money on one coin, Sofi Crypto will hold 5 coins of your choice and. Your amount in coin will reflect the amount of money in accnt/ portfolio Also add a dark mode to your app and a beginner and professional tab on your invest app to allow for more and better details on charts stocks the obviously options.

It’s visually noisy. I liked the app at first but it’s so field with ads and things I am not interested in. I’d love to see a user interface that is more customizable. It is a little overwhelming to come into an application and see banking credit cards, and personal loans. I’m not against that, but I have it in my visual say while I’m in the app and trying to do other things becomes cumbersome. There is something to be said about subtly and having the opportunity there and allowing the user to make that choice after having a good experience, using another aspect of the application. I suppose you could call and visual litter lol?? I REALLY would like the ability in the investment section to have a tool within the app, and within a particular stock to see the target pricing. Currently when I look at a stock, I leave the app and find the target, low medium and high pricing for a stock. I think this is a great opportunity for SoFi to add that within the application itself. You’ll lose customers to other applications or banking systems that may already have that within their tool so it would be great to see Sofi bill that into this app.

Some Suggestions. I am currently trading in 7 platforms right now. SOFI is my second favorite platform. I came back today in Sofi to add more money to my IRA and noticed that some stocks that I have I am not able to buy it anymore. I can only sell it but then I realized why I can’t buy it anymore. Sofi actually trying to help me to not keep losing money to those stocks that became penny stocks and then later on do a 1 to 25 - 1 to 100 reverse split. Thank you sofi for saving me. 😁. I do have couple suggestions though since I have invested quite an amount here and trade. First suggestions: If SOFI could add a modification like modifying an order the amount or the price without cancelling it. It is a hassle to cancel and then redo the order. Maybe try a simple button or something that we can modify an order quicker without canceling? You know what I mean? 😁 I always have issues when I am trying to change and especially when the price went low and wanted to buy the stocks low or even trying to sell it as well. I ended up missing the opportunity on buying it when it is really low and then selling it when it is really high because you have to cancel the entire orders instead of just pressing something to modify it. Second suggestions: If Sofi make a way that we can name our watchlist by category etc… between the 2 suggestions I prefer the first one that I can modify my orders without canceling the entire orders. Other than that SOFI is a great platform and I like it.

Super slow. I joined SoFi initially because of the high interest available on the savings account. After going I opened up an active investing, and auto investing and a Roth IRA account because it was slick and easy to use. I have since realized it's easy to put money in, not easy to take money out. I decided I wanted more control over my investing so I attempted to liquidate my Auto Investing account and move it into my money account, it initiated a sell of all my positions on February 4th with the money sent to my SoFi savings account. The invest account shows as "completed" finally on the 6th with all my positions sold and gone from that account but they are not in my savings account. That can take an additional 3 days which means this entire process is going to take an entire week with the weekend in the middle. And, to just like on more, the ability to cancel auto deposits to any of your SoFi accounts does not work from the web, clicking the cancel button does nothing, you literally have to use the app or you can't cancel auto deposits. It's obvious SoFi is far to "young" in the financial space and has a long way to go before I could ever recommend them for any service. Oh, and the savings rates have dropped drastically so that account isn't worth keeping open either.

Frustrated about the welcome bonus, but I do like the app. So, I was super excited to switch to Sofi. I love that I can organize my savings into vaults, love the apy, and I was excited about the welcome bonus. I would be happy if they would fix my direct deposits showing up but so far, nothing… I’ve called 3 times now about the fact that my direct deposit from my employer isn’t being marked as direct deposit, and because of this, I have not received the promised bonus. I’ve had 4, it will be 5 on Friday, direct deposits that aren’t being counted. This is frustrating because I didn’t get the APY for the direct deposit, until the SECOND time I called they put a temporary 30 day adjustment to the apy. Fine. But then I waited about a month to call again, and all they can tell me is I’ll get a response eventually that either they will fix it, or give me a reason why they can’t?? My other bank marks these deposits as direct deposits automatically so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t be able to do it for this one. Also, the app did just mark a deposit, NOT from my employer, as a direct deposit. Great, I’m sure that won’t help with my welcome bonus. Hoping they fix this, as it’s not fair to advertise a welcome bonus and not follow through. I hope to continue to be a customer but I will definitely file a complaint and switch banks if they don’t get it sorted out.

Easy navigation . Literally all my $ finances in one place.. I downloaded SoFi initially to check refinance rates for my car. Stayed for the awesome interface and services. I love that im able to track all my finances in one place. The value of my home, the balance on my robinhood, fidelity, and Bank of America accounts. My credit score. My credit card debts. All my reoccurring auto payments . It’s all here in one place on one screen. It’s incredible to see all your net worth all in one place. I received free money for opening an investment account with SoFi , so opened one as well, why not? Brokerage interface is easy to use as well. Unlike robinhood , it has a very “social media” vibe. You can add friends just like on Facebook and follow what trades they make and what positions they hold in their portfolios. There’s updated news/articles/ educational material regarding anything you’re interested in. This doesn’t feel like a banking app, it’s truly addictive like a social media app. I haven’t opened a checking or savings account with SoFi yet. It says they’re offering 1.25% apy for these accounts if you direct deposit. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any bank with that rate. I need to look more into it if there’s fine print , but it’s definitely where I’d rather park ny savings money instead of collecting dust at Bank of America . Overall a fun app. Can’t wait to see what other features get added on.

Once great app has become problematic. I was once a huge fan of SoFi and their app, at least for investments. I like the relative easy of executing transactions in this app. I also think they struck a nice balance of information for beginning investors and those with a bit more expensive. While they can be sluggish to update some movement, I was okay with that at first. That said, I’ve recently begun contemplating a move elsewhere. As of the last couple of updates, I no longer receive valuable (literally) push notifications about changes in stock prices. In addition, I had an issue with the photo in my app that made me question whether the app was secure (photo not belonging to me appeared in my profile and I didn’t put it there). After several calls to SoFi, I was assured there was no security issue and that it was an engineering problem. Despite that, I went ahead and opened an account with a larger, more well-known brokerage with much more information and a much better app experience. For now, I have left my current investments with SoFi in my SoFi account as there are tax consequences for liquidation, but I certainly won’t be making any new investments through SoFi and have cancelled my recurring deposits.

Relays not working (update #1). After downloading the app, I noticed that the relay section wasn’t working. I put in a ticket and it’s been a few weeks and I haven’t been able to get relates to work appropriately. It seems that there are parts on the website that work if I do a little digging. Unfortunately that doesn’t translate to the app so there’s a lot of inconsistencies as to what I’m able to see on the app. All in all I’m on able to see everything that I am expected to see. I’m having a lot of trouble utilizing the tools that have been offered to me as a plus member. I guess if this continues for too much longer, I’ll have to go find another savings account with a better app that works. It is for this reason that I cannot send invitations to bring in my friends who are also shopping things like high-yield savings accounts. I nearly gave up but the relays started loading after calling SoFi and opening a ticket. Unfortunately, I cannot keep the details of my 401k/IRA connected. I would have to log into my accounts daily if I want to see my overall banking information.

Caution to potential members. If you’re thinking about joining just be aware what money you put into the invest account you might not get back. I had some financial strain that i had to sell some securities. The funds settled and ive gone through the withdrawal process. Its been over two weeks and they wont give me the money. Six times they have told me to cancel and redo it with no progress. I had one agent cancel my withdrawal without notifying me after i had told him I didn’t want to. Ive asked to speak to a supervisor probably ten times and still haven’t spoke to one because apparently we have to schedule a call. Well after so many requests i still haven’t received a call. When ive asked their agents why i have to cancel and redo a withdrawal their response was “ i just think its a good idea” when I requested who their SRO is they wouldn’t give me that info either so i had to find it myself. Its pretty sad they knew my financial stress recently and absolutely NO help. They just keep holding my money from me. Also this isnt the only issue be very careful with the money account as well. Whenever i do get my money im closing all accounts here. Which is disappointing cause ill be honest i was super stoked joining the first day. Good luck to new members.

All your money, all in one place!. This is probably a strange necessity, but one of the most first things I look at when looking for a new bank is the visual design of its app. Because, well, a lot of the big bank apps are *ugly*. SoFi’s app is nice and clean, and doesn’t give me eye strain whenever I need to check my balances. But the real benefit of SoFi is that it’s essentially an all-in-one money solution. Most people will probably benefit most by starting with its high-yield checking and savings bundle, but they also have automated investing, manual investing (not just stocks and ETFs, but also cryptocurrency), and a credit card that offers unlimited 2% cash back. And if that wasn’t enough, the app can also track external accounts outside of SoFi. I’ve even got it set to track the silver and gold I’ve purchased from APMEX. But in addition to external accounts including bank accounts, credit cards, and loans, it can also track the value of your car and your home. And all of that doesn’t even scratched the surface. It really is an all-one-one finance app.

Fun bank. Update: I use SoFi as my primary bank. Love the APR on the savings account and can get a decent APR on the checking. I now have the credit card and it’s okay. Nothing special really. Relay is still great and helps me keep track of where my money is going. I REALLY wish they would make a widget and improve login speed. It take at least 30sec to login sometimes. That issue along makes me want to use another bank. Otherwise I recommend it to people if they are searching for a decent online bank. I had SoFi bank (checking and Savings) for a few months now and really enjoying it. Love that it give you spending breakdowns in Relay and you get a lot of features including investing. It feels very robust and can feel overwhelming at first but once you understand everything it give you a lot of information. The one thing I am begging y’all to is make a quick view widget. Having a quick glance into my balances would be extremely helpful. I find it slow and clunky to login every time I want to check my balance.

Poor customer service. Normally, I don’t write reviews. I especially don’t intend on trashing companies just for a few hiccups because everybody makes mistakes. But this is a really bad situation. I have been a member of SoFi for almost a year. Regular banking excellent, trading was marginal, options to purchase. Crypto was pretty decent. All were good until I deposited a personal check. The check was given to me by my mom for final payment on my cruise. That’s where the problem began. My account was frozen and I have no more access to my money. My payroll would continue to go into the account, but I had no access to it. When I called customer service, they would continue to say that someone will get in touch with me. No one ever did. I don’t believe that customer service actually works for Sofi. They say the same thing, but nothing gets resolved. They have no power to make decisions. It’s always someone will get in touch with me. It’s kind a like talking to an operator who has been rerouted from another company. This is a hard lesson to learn. I know that people will still use SoFi because of the benefits. But to me, it’s not worth it! The incident happened in May 2023 it is now August 5, 2023 and I still have no access to my money that is stuck in my account. There’s no one to contact by the way, I had to borrow money from another source, to pay the balance on my cruise. This is not a bank I prefer to deal with. Especially with large amounts of money. To you, good luck!

I want to like this app but I don’t. Seems like there is so much possibility for this app to be great. Who doesn’t want to see their finances in one place, manage banking and investments and more? Unfortunately it’s riddled with issues. Updates to manual information won’t take manual updates. Linked accounts have connection / sync issues constantly, debit and credit charge lists don’t line up for things like hotel charges and gasoline - the initial hold like $75 shows up and looks like someone used your card - but the transaction then reports elsewhere in the app correctly. I’m unable to delete linked accounts or they are linked multiple times. I don’t want to see student loan push notifications (I’m 61!) And I choose “see less like this” but there they are next time I log in. I have set up direct deposit from work but every day I have a push ad that says I should set up direct deposit. I’d like someone to get his/her/their/it act together. So much potential here yet so much noise, malfunction and mismatched logic. Fix fix fix. Please please please. Thank you!!!!!

Most Excellent. I am rewriting my review for SoFi. I feel like my first one wasn’t detailed enough to do it justice. The SoFi app is an all around efficient app. You get the chance to have a checking account, savings, investing, cryptocurrency, IRAs,Relay, and now a credit card. Plus the app is super simple to use and easy to understand. Plus their really aren’t any fees to this account and I was fortunate enough I was able to be grandfathered into the all atm reimbursement. Plus I took advantage of several sign up bonuses they offer and it really got me into investing. It doesn’t have all the l stocks and ETFs but they do offer the most popular ones. The interest they pay at the moment is low but that is only because the feds lowered the interest rates. So without a doubt I’m sure they will raise it again once the Feds do. Plus their debit card has cash back offers. With the relay you are also able to see your spending and track your credit score. All around I would recommend this cash management account to anyone. 5 Stars! NO CAP!

Sofi app crashes all the time.. I love how there employees talk over you when they want to get off the call. If they can’t manage to talk over you, they will just simply hang up the call with the excuse of going around in circles. It would not be a circle if when you asked to speak to a manger the employees actually transfer the call. No they sit there and say this that and all the other things, like we are the last point of contact. Managers don't take phone calls. Plus the host of about 10-12 more reasons why the earth is flat or round or whatever banking rules, sofi thinks they can just make up and not follow the OCC can’t freeze people’s accounts all while I can’t pay my bills, buy food, today is day 4 with nothing more than 1 apple or a pickle because I found out my account was frozen Saturday while I was at the store trying to pay for groceries. Cell phone, Wi-Fi, electricity is all getting turned off today because I can’t pay any of my bills and not to mention having NO FOOD until SoFi “reviews” my account, and the employees can’t tell me when that will be completed. Such a big horse crap of a company. I guess i will most likely starve to death before they go. Into my accounts and hit a little button, so I can pay bills and live.

More about sales than functionality. I only use the SoFi application for banking in a checking and savings account. I find the Ally application much better and more intuitive, if only Ally could Match the interest rates. The SoFi app puts a lot of quick access menus that I will never use in more prominent positions that the useful functionality that I want to see. For example, at the top of the banking tab, and filling half the screen, I have the following options. 1) Refer your friends. 2) Autopilot 3) Pay in 4 (early access) 4) Shop local. Get Rewards. 5) Buy stocks, ETFs, and more. Below these things I will never use, I finally have two account tabs. These two tabs should be at the top where they are most accessible. In fact i wish I could just remove that whole 1 to 5 section from the display all together! My other main complaint is that when I do a transfer, the default from/to accounts are my Ally accounts. I believe the defaults should be SoFi accounts when in the SoFi app! My home tab feels more likely a Facebook news feed than a banking app. When le the app does have most of the functionality you would want for banking, it’s not well organized.

Questionable payment practices. I like the interest rates offered by Sofi. I initially applied for a loan about a year ago and was denied. A month later, I reapplied and my loan was approved. The difference being that the first time I applied, a cash bonus was tied to it. Since they rejected me, they didn’t need to pay it. The second application apparently was approved because I no longer had the cash bonus tied to it. Convenient. 🤨. Since then, there have been payment issues. My most recent issue was that my payment was due on Monday, 4/27. I am enrolled in autopay. They took the money from my bank account on Friday, 4/24. What if I didn’t have enough in my account that day? I would have likely incurred overdraft fees from my bank. Why take money from someone’s bank account a full business day before it is owed? The payment didn’t (show) process in their system is until 4/28. However, they had my money on Friday, so according to their records, the interest accrued through Monday. In actuality, it should have only accrued through Friday because that’s when they took my money. It was not available for me to spend on Friday, so they had it. No other accounts I have follow this practice. Why does SOFI?

Hard to navigate App. While trying to check rates for a parent plus consolidation loan yesterday was denied. I was following the sequence of application process and only allowed “ annual income” to be entered which is a part time job. OTHER sources of income are not specified!! Didn’t ask for other income such as pension and other sources of income stream. Instead you get a pop up box that says “hey are you sure you want to proceed “ “ Do you have someone to co-sign” lol, didn’t realize SoFi was for kids. Also you can’t delete a started application when you link to a federal student loan servicer. On this App while completing an application you don’t get ANY error messages if you forget something ,it just will not allow you to proceed. So today I opened the App and could not find my recent application from yesterdayand proceeded to check my rates with no problem. Interest rates were higher than my parent plus loan. I think SoFi does a soft pull when checking your credit so it should not affect your credit rating. Maybe have a pop up box that says “ hey dude are you sure you want a loan?? “😂 Very confusing app. Even Netflix has “ continue watching”you don’t have to search all over the page!! to pick up where you left off!!!!! NOT HAPPY Dude!😂

Requesting a SBLOC! But otherwise great app. I love SoFi. I have transferred the vast majority of my assets here, and use pretty much all products (active, automated, IRA investing, checking and savings accounts with great interest rates, and credit card). The one feature I’d love most to see in the app is an SBLOC (Securities Backed Line of Credit) maybe in the Credit or Investing tab. Personally the only reason I ever see myself leaving SoFi is, eventually wanting to borrow against my assets with a solid (1-3% + SOFR interest rate) when I don’t generate as much income in the future, and not having an instrument to do so with in the SoFi app. I recognize this is a bit out there when compared to how simple SoFi tries to make finances. However I’d argue that with the introduction of Level 2 options, money market funds, cryptocurrencies, and other ETFs and various instruments that SoFi is also committing to bringing a wide variety of financial products to investors’ fingertips. If you’ve made it this far thanks for the reading and consideration and keep up the good work!

I’ve Finally Found Exactly What I’ve Been Looking For. I’ve been a member for about two years now and I must say that I’m very impressed with SoFi. A few years ago I had finally had enough with traditional brick and mortar banks and began my quest for an alternative. I kept my primary bank and started trying different online banks, which I kept separate as a precaution. I found SoFi Money through a recommendation from Stock Advisor and created an account. The rewards program is outstanding, the percentage yield for the savings account at 4% is mind blowing, and the additional products and services are pretty cool. The investment platform is basic and mainly geared towards novice investors however having the ability to build a strong portfolio all in the same place is fantastic. I utilize Trading View for analysis and such so not having the in depth tools within is not a huge turnoff. I’m sure they will be introduced eventually as SoFi is constantly evolving. All in all, I feel confident in my decision to use SoFi for my financial needs and look forward to seeing what else they bring to the table. I do have a few suggestions that I’d like to provide that I believe would be well received by both your company and clients as well. Please feel free to reach out to me directly or provide an email address so I can contact you privately. Keep up the great work!

Growing pains but well worth it. So, I am shifting all of my money away from my big name bank (after all, it seems a little archaic to be banking with a company that uses a horse-drawn carriage as their mascot). First, I will say that SoFi is not perfect. I have had to call their support several times through the setup process due to nuances in their systems, getting a joint account holder approved, ect. However, in my experience, the customer service is phenomenal. Thus, any of the issues that I have experienced has been taken care of swiftly and without compromise. Additionally, the benefit of having my banking (SoFi money), investing (SoFi Investing), and loan options all in one place is very useful. I am a medical student, so I hope to refinance my loans through SoFi once I go to residency. To summarize, SoFi is not perfect. It seems they are experiencing some growing pains. However, they have adequate staffing to face these growing pains. I will also say that they walk laps around the other banking companies out there (even some of the other “new” startups). Also, the app is clean cut and simple to use. I greatly appreciate SoFi!

Great app. But that’s about it.. I really really wanted to love everything about SoFi. But there’s just something not right about the way they deal with their credit card customers. I opened a line of credit. Great APR, line of credit and customer service… until it wasn’t. I was about to make a purchase and so I ran my SoFi credit card. It didn’t go through. I called customer service and they said they would fix the problem. So I tried the purchase again and it didn’t go through. Mind you this wasn’t near the maximum line of credit, I have the physical card and no balance on my card. I called again and they told me that there was a block on my credit line. So they said they remove it and they said that I will be able to use the card. So I tried the purchase again, it was denied. I called again and they said I would have to email their department. Something about fraud?! When I started to question them about why I wasn’t able to use the card, their answers were inconsistent. So I emailed them and It’s been 4 days and they haven’t gotten back to me. Maybe I should wait a bit longer? But the question still remains why haven’t I been able to use the credit card? I have great credit card history. I have great credit. I’ve never been late on any of my credit card payments. It just doesn’t add up? It’s frustrating to say the least. But fortunately I have another credit card. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

SoFi made it harder to submit payments. I have a loan with SoFi. I had been very happy with their service, communication and their ease of use. I frequently submit additional extra payments to my loan. SoFi used to have an easy access “make payment” button to tap in the app right on the home page. They have deleted that button. Now to make an additional payment, you have to follow an overly complicated multi step process including clicking into a section of the app and then reversing course and clicking back to a different page to find a barely visible option to clunkily make an extra payment. There is no good reason to REMOVE an easy to use payment feature when it comes to client experience or client care. The only reason to do something like this is to make it harder to make early payments — fewer early payments means SoFi loans are paid back slower. And SoFi makes more money off their customers via interest accrual. Repugnant and unethical. Will no longer do business with SoFi and I do not recommend them to potential customers. Gross.

Good only for saving account. I had issue months ago with SoFi when my checking account was stolen and all my money went gone but after a month and half and multiple phone call i was a able to get my money back (even if they submited my request after 5 phone call). So I decided not to write any bad review only because i had my money back but for what i see even the investing account is giving me trouble. I do use Webull vanguard acron and in the past even Robinhood I used but never happen anything with those app, but here, randomly one day to another you can’t sell your stock just buy or recurring. Close the app and reopen and sometime let me sell, sometime it doesn’t. You chat with them and is unavailable so you need to call, you call them and they ask you if is ok if they send you a message to your phone number so you can chat by message, they sent me the message and with a link they sent me to the app chat again!! Where of course is not working… if you need a saving account with direct deposit open the account otherwise I’m not raccomanding to no one.

Overall. So far ive enjoyed everything sofi has to offer except its investing platform. It doesnt have a good set of live updates. Reminds me a lot like stashes design for the investing and banking aspect. Which stashes big problem was getting the stocks sold, your money out and buying at accurate levels. I have not attempted a sell request so I cannot 100% confirm yet. Seems decent for banking. Very easy to use it is very well designed. I like it all except the investing. I would recommend a primary brokerage over this unless you just want to passively put money into something and not worry about it. Its a good start to the absolute basics of learning about investing. Was not very transparent on transaction fee when buying stocks/crypto. So overall convenient and friendly use for anyone looking to simplify their finances.

Where are all these five stars coming from?. I opened a sofi account at the suggestion of a friend after my numerous complaints of ATM fees. So I made the switch from a major bank to them. I was uneasy about not having access to my money in the event something happened to my debit card and well it’s been a nightmare. My direct deposits come a day later than my other bank. I’m able to split direct deposits and when I called in and asked where my deposit was, they advised me my employer hadn’t sent it yet, even though I received my other deposit the morning my payroll was processed. I had my backpack stolen in January and ordered a new card on January 22nd. It’s now February 8th and still no card!!! They advised me this is normal processing time, where exactly is this card coming from? I’ve literally received a replacement card for all my other debit and credit cards. When I ordered a replacement card, I asked if this could be expedited and they assured it would. Well come to find out it wasn’t. You’re better of using another similar service to their. But not having access to my money at anytime is a huge concern, just glad I kept my original bank account opened.

Sofi is bunk. Don’t download SoFi unless you make $60,000 a year because you won’t get any of your bonuses. And if you are one day outside of your deposit date like you’re on low income or something or your money didn’t come in like it was supposed to die they don’t give you any of your bonus money the reason you signed up on top of that. I put a dispute in 16 days ago and just barely got a response asking for more information when they tell you it only takes 10 business days to settle a dispute. Even worse as I’ve already given them all the evidence they need to show that it was a fake website it was a fraudulent transaction and I’m still waiting and I can’t even talk to the disputing team. Sofi Customer Service is garbage. If you’re looking for an app that has. Basically the same features but actually will give you your $150 bonus that you got for signing up go to Chime it’s a way better bank with way better features, and they actually have decent customer care I they don’t falsify their advertisement saying you can get $250 if you make $60,000 a year $2000 in 25 days you might actually get about bonus

Size hog that accomplishes most needs in one place. Despite updates every other day that approach half a gig each time, the SoFi app really does allow for nearly everything to be accomplished in one place. It’s big and bulky, so I don’t update it as it releases. Login has improved its speed, but still lags a bit versus similar sized apps using faceid. The fact that the app only allows dark mode in beta is quite annoying as some modules only offer a bright white background. Sometimes you have to dig for a setting (like changing a vault name). I don’t like that you can’t get rid of bottom icons like the credit card. I don’t have it and am not interested in it. I would prefer to setup my menu relative to my needs. SoFi can still advertise offers to me, but it’s one area I don’t like given the whole app is already a constant ad. Let me dump what I don’t need need and organize more cleanly.

SoFi Banking Review. I only used SoFi for banking, and it’s probably the best online bank I’ve used. Their savings account has competitive interest rates, and since it’s a hybrid account, it is very convenient to transfer to my checking account. Here are some drawbacks: Bank linking is only through Plaid, so that might be a problem if your bank does not support it. Also, the notification system is a little slower than other apps. It takes a few minutes to receive a push notification for debit card transactions. I don’t get any notification for ACH transfers except for direct deposits. SoFi also tends to block large debit card transactions (over $1000), which I understand it’s for security reasons. Still, it might be a bit of an inconvenience having to confirm the transaction every time.

Not very intuitive.. I find the SoFi banking app to be quite confusing. Instead of savings accounts we have “vaults”, which is counted in with the funds in my checking account. I don’t like that they have to take 3-4 days to make a payment, whereas major banks take a day by transferring funds immediately for bills. We tried to send a check to someone and we’re told it would take 7 days...it took 10! And they really needed the money. I tried to make my mortgage payment for October 1. There was not a day to select when the funds would go out to the mortgage. Stupid me assumed since it was due 10/1 it would come out 10/1 but it ended up coming out a few days after I initiated the payment, which TOTALLY messed up my month. Glad I had funds in the ‘vault’. I called and asked to have the money to be put back and was told it would take 4 days. Again, a major bank could have it done in a day. We waited until we decided it wasn’t going to happen. Then we received a check in the mail 13 days later, which, takes 3-4 days to fund after we deposit it! 🙄 I would much rather return to a major bank who can do things quickly and smoothly.

Sofi Services are great but app needs work. I use SoFi for a loan and my banking and would recommend those services to anyone. That said, the app, especially the banking section needs some additional data that most other banking apps provide such as total balance and available balance. Instead Sofi provides “total available balance” which is the amount of money available for use which doesn’t include pending transfers. So many times I’ve thought I have less money in my account than I do and have transferred more in than I need to. Also, the app doesn't offer Zelle which is available at most other institutions and therefore makes sending money to others more difficult than it should be. Lastly, the layout isn’t great and I can’t see spending trends just on the banking accounts. Instead I have to use Relay, which is ok but not great as it loses connection to external accounts frequently.

SoFi is the best thing that I have come across in a long time!. I signed up with SoFi initially to get the $25 opening promotion and had never planned on using the account thereafter… however, this is the best financial move I’ve made in a minute! I saw the potentially high interest rate on the savings account so I decided to move my direct deposit over and I get 3.75% apy on savings and 2.50% on checking! This is higher than my high yield Amex savings account so I am moving my funds into SoFi! The benefits are amazing! I love the roundups and overdraft protection. I love the vault options within the savings account to keep my savings separate- yet still earning interest. I also love that SoFi is plaid compatible with every account/bills etc that I utilize. The app is easy to use and I have already referred 4 people and am awaiting my $50 referrals from each of those! I highly recommend SoFi!!!

Please partner with better ATMs. I love this bank and the services it offers. I left BOA for them and I don’t regret it. I have 3/4 accounts open with SoFi and I’m in no way disappointed in almost everything. What I will say is, it’s EXTREMELY inconvenient that you don’t partner with ATMs that accept deposits. It takes a check 7-10 days to process no matter the amount and cash is impossible, which I often carry. I am having to give people cash, then get them to Apple Pay me the amount. It would be 1000x easier with ATMs I could actually make deposits on. I have no idea if it’s changed since the handful of months ago that I found out about not being able to deposit, but if it is not please fix this issue soon. I would like to be able to drive myself to an ATM when needed and not have to go through other people then having to wait for X - amount of days each time I need to deposit cash. PLEASE.

Unbeatable loan service!!. Due to a sudden family urgent need, I need to get a personal loan as fas as possible. I meant ASAP, that’s all matters. I went online to apply for a loan which is limiting about the half of the SoFi offered. but in the same day they approved. Quite fast, really appreciated anyway. However when I applied the same amount from another providers through a top lending portal, they need to wait till 10 days later to fund. I gave up. And then I saw SoFi in the lending list through ad link. I knew my credit score is excellent and my income is well qualified. Still I was amazed that how fast SoFi service was. With application submitted till approved till loan funded, it took only 4 hours. Any responsible borrower like me should go for SoFi. Astounding awesome service!!! The app is very user friendly and I highlyrecommend SoFi and the app!

No managers on duty ever. Placed my funds on hold 3 weeks and counting. Three weeks ago some individual wrote me out a check (thought it was legit) I deposited. The bank didn’t cash it. I did not take any money out against the check. Once the bank placed a hold on my account they did not notify me just placed all my funds on hold. I’ve called 5 times so far with no luck of speaking with an employee that could give me any answers other than it’s under investigation. I have bills that I need to pay that are getting late fees adding up everyday. I continue to ask for a manager or someone I could talk to. The employee says we don’t have a manager in the escalation department. He said the only thing I could do is leave them a message and they will call you back. It’s going on 4 weeks with no return calls nothing and my money is still being held. Very disappointed in customer service. I will be closing my account as soon as I can get my money! I do not recommend this bank. They do not have a local bank that I can just go to to get things settled either.

The bank of the future!. Wow! SOFI is an incredible service, helping to make you money, save you money, and show you your money, all in one place. I love the transparency, the money I make on interest, and the ease of use. The ATM coverage is quite remarkable. I use this feature all the time around the country and even in other countries to get cash out and has really been so helpful in times when I needed cash and I don’t carry it around often. SOFI pays for literally most of the fees if not all each time you take money out of an ATM. Instead of being with some other bank that only allows you to take our money from their branded ATM for free, you can take it out of anywhere, for free. Common sense, SOFI is better in literally all ways!! I love SOFI and I couldn’t do my money right without it. Thank you SOFI, you guys rock!

Great design. I love the look of the app, the flow and I absolutely love the dark theme! Because my eyes hurt sometimes and that really helps. It’s like everything you need in one. I love flexibility of the app makes it fun to come view your money and lifestyle it’s almost like a social network place for you and your money, with like the adds and post that help you with your ideas and I like that. I hope the app keeps getting cooler and one day I hope the bank can give you the option to deposit money without going to a person I rather a machine deposit I know it’s green dot covered, but that’s just to take money out I have a Job where I get tips a lot and I’d like to just be able to put it in my account myself instead of walking up to counter and asking them to deposit money. Other then that this feels like the best banking app out here lol I’d love to be on the team to make it even better .

SoFi is revolutionary.. As of this review, I am on a 117 day login streak on the app. And it feels goooood. Indeed, SoFi has revolutionized the way I look at my finances and freedom. To be part of a team / environment that genuinely wants to support financial freedom and TEACH about financial wellness is simply a deep pleasure. SoFi has made me think about the aspects of what social media I personally care deeply about. We have “social media”, why not add “social finance”? Take that same concept of interconnecting one another, sharing life events or goals with other another on the internet and apply it to your finances in a safe, transparent way, that’s SoFi. I have been a deeply satisfied customer for the past 117 days, and I look forward to staying that for another 117. And another 117. And another 117. And on and on. Remember, these are the early days of SoFi, there is a lot coming down the pipeline. Join in on revolutionizing your finances and “GET YOUR MONEY RIGHT!!!!” Thanks SoFi!!!!!

Great service, app a little clunky. Sofi has been a great bank for me so far but the app has a few issues. For one, logging in is fast sometimes but sometimes it takes 10 seconds for Face ID to pop up so I can login. Another issue is that dark mode has seemingly been in beta forecast and it’s jarring for someone with sensitive eyes to switch between one page that’s dark to one that’s light, especially at night. A finished dark mode would be great. And then when opening the transactions page for an account, you have to scroll to the bottom of the most recent transactions to see all transactions and then tap search and it would be much easier to skip those steps and put a search bar at the top of the transactions page. Some animations between pages and tabs are kinda clunky too but over the app functions fine, it could just use some polish. Update: The iPad app now crashes most times I try to open it and when it does work it takes almost 30 seconds to load. I’m on the 7th Gen iPad Air.

Convenient beyond expectations. I am extremely satisfied with my experience using SoFi Bank. Their loan application and approval processes are incredibly convenient and efficient. Additionally, the SoFi app offers extensive money management features, making it easy to track expenses and explore investment opportunities. Effortless Loan Application: SoFi Bank revolutionizes the loan application process with a user-friendly interface. Applying for a loan is quick and straightforward, and their speedy approval system exceeded my expectations. The efficiency of their process sets them apart from traditional banks. At-a-Glance Money Management: The SoFi app simplifies personal finance management. It offers comprehensive features for real-time expense tracking, budgeting, and analysis. This tool provides crucial insights for making smarter financial decisions and achieving financial goals. Simplified Investment Opportunities: SoFi Bank also excels in offering accessible investment options. Their app integrates investment opportunities, providing an intuitive platform to explore and invest in diversified portfolios. This comprehensive service caters to customers' financial growth requirements. Conclusion: SoFi Bank provides a seamless banking experience. With efficient loan applications, at-a-glance money management, and simplified investment opportunities through their app, SoFi Bank is the ideal choice for those seeking convenience and robust financial services.

Awful customer service. The app is good. I am leaving 3 stars and not 1 only because I have used you guys for almost 2 years and have had no problems with the app itself. I even referred 2 friends which are now using the service. However, the very few times I have truly needed customer support, my experience has been absolutely awful and I am reconsidering if I want to keep using this account for the future. I definitely will no longer recommend it. I have been on hold with chat support for over 40 minutes right now with no feedback on wait times. Just “we’re still waiting for the agent. I’ll pass your message along when they connect.” This is not the first time it has happened and the phone support is equally as bad. I need to make a wire transfer today for a settlement/purchase. Very impersonal, very unavailable customer support. Waiting for help on the phone now. Will update.

Account was compromised funds unavailable for 90 days. My sofi cash card was compromised and 10-20 unauthorized purchases was made on my card. I was told the charges cannot be disputed until the charges stop showing up as pending. Upon the transactions coming out of pending, one must wait up to 90 days to have a resolution for the disputed charges. I was traveling and my account balance was completely drained (purchases of 1000 or more at Gucci and amiri and Uber eats charges). Sofi is not a bank and will not reverse any fraudulent charges until you go through this whole process. I’m now on vacation with no money and have no resolution to my problem. They advised me to call each individual merchant to dispute the charges, but they directed me back to sofi. Uber and a lot of businesses force you to go through virtual chat now as well as say there is nothing they can do. Unprofessional customer support team and just a miserable experience. Any bank or other institution would be more helpful to dispute multithousand dollar transaction 1000 miles away.

Review. It is totally ridiculous that you cannot get another debit card for 7 to 10 days when you can ship one out overnight charges for the shipping in the overnight and have it to us the next day. It is also totally ridiculous that I had all these charges on my account, many of them when somebody got in and broke into my account, google, and a bunch of other names I never heard of you have an excellent staff on the other end that helps to solve the problems. They are amazing and I appreciate that very much but when you need cash or you need to pay bills and you don’t have a card that you can tie in with the wallet pay or the other type of pays that you have to do. It is totally ridiculous. It does not take that long banks can get it done the same day or the next day, you need to change a few more things on your policies and then you’ll be reading a five star all the time that’s my review you guys need to look it over and seriously think about making some changes

Fraud and deception. This bank does not respect its customers and believes that they are idiots. When I opened my money account, the bank advertised ATM fee reimbursement *anywhere* in the world. Since then, they tried to trick me into giving up this benefit for at least 25 times. They sent emails, push notifications, pop-us urging me to accept “new terms”, which is their corporate speak for “voluntary refuse the benefit we had advertised for you”. Each time they claimed that it would cost me nothing, conveniently forgetting to tell that this benefit would disappear (you just need to read footnote 3). They became so desperate that they first decrease my interest rate, and then stopped paying the interest altogether — all for me to give up on the benefit I actually wanted. They succeeded: closed my account today and moved my money to a bank that is mature enough not to use tricks on its customers. Look, things can change and sometimes you find yourself in a situation in which you can’t support the benefits you promised to your early adopter. Find a spin, show your early adopters some respect, and tell the things upfront. Stop using tricks.

Great, Comprehensive Platform… some suggestions. I decided to give SoFi a try as an investor, wanting to know the product better. Nothing here should be construed as financial advice. * Using SoFi Invest, I like the expanding features (such as margin, most recently) and the social aspects, but I think more could be done to provide additional data, charts, and more social integrations. * The rewards system I find to be quite fantastic, especially as it integrates across services. That and the promotional cash back rates for the SoFi Credit Card are compelling. * I originally had difficulty with my first loan process, but it has since improved to be more seamless. I haven’t found anyone who makes it easier. * I initially enjoyed the homepage, but a glitch has persisted for at least a couple of months now where I can’t access half of it, and I’ve not found a dedicated way to report it. I believe that having a bug report option in the Help tab would be immensely beneficial. 4/5 stars for great ideas, and mostly great execution. I do find that SoFi competes well with the products I’ve used from JP Morgan Chase, Capital One, Discover, American Express, and others. I find myself often preferring SoFi, and some more refinements would easily make this a 5 for me.

great app! bad card. internally everything about sofi and the products they give are amazing. Weirdly when you open a checking account you get a savings account to, both get the 2%! some not so cool things: they still email you about opening an account? it’s just spam about a product you already have. if you’re on dark mode, literally only your account page is dark, home page is still white and some pages are white, it would be cool if they were all dark. last and most worst thing ever- i normally don’t write reviews but i’m forced to look at it every day. the card came in, easy set up and all. Time to peal off the sticker.. glue residue is left on the card and it’s absolutely hideous. idk what i did wrong but it bothers me so much. the card design is cute but i just can’t deal with it. that’s all

Update app design. Great up and coming fintech company. Solid foundation but needs a new product developer to recreate the app design. You should consolidate the following tabs: Home/Banking/CreditCard/Invest/Loans. Majority of customers only find 1-2 of these tabs relevant, so most of the app is useless to the common customer. What you should do is have an api set up that flows into each tab vs only the Home tab. Example: not everyone wants to use your credit card, but if you have an api that shows outside credit accounts on the Credit Card tab, it both allows customer to manage all credit and further incentivizes them to opt into a Sofi credit products. Same goes for banking, invest, and loans. Should be easy to create and would likely further incentivize clients to use products outside of banking. Work smarter not harder, keep up the great work!

Debit Card Security Lacking. I closed Ally due to three fraud attempts in less than 6weeks. I opened a SoFi to see what’s up. So far so good and no issues. Well today there was an attempted charge that did not go through. I checked the settings and there are no custom amount alerts/ sms to let me know if it was me to then allow or deny. Nor is there any options for virtual cards which is tempting me to head over to Cap One or CiTi Bank. Debit and Credit Card fraud is at an all time high. Aside from that the other services and features such as loans investments etc are great but if my money is stolen then what are those features worth to me. I’ll contact customer support ASAP in the AM and see what happens then. If no virtual card ability offered or no tailored alerts for online purchases then I have to go elsewhere. It’s hard to find out what is stealing my info. Too many variables but card settings and/ or virtual cards for online purchases would be ideal for all banks.

Best online banking!$!$!. I have used a couple other online banks then just happened to come across SoFi. I don’t have one single thing negative to say about my experience with them. Our APY started at 2% then after meeting direct deposit criteria it immediately went to 2.5% the mobile deposit feature was unlocked and even provides a deposit release date. I totally understand with a new account hold times will vary. I guess I do have one question/concern. I thought I would qualify for the checking account program promotion for receiving direct deposit over 1k. I can say the referral program was immediately initiated after I sent the referral and it was completed per SoFi. $50 was deposited into my account. I would highly recommend over chime , varo and even the national brick and banks.

The Wave of the Future. I have bank and checking accounts at several banks. The Customer Service at BoA, Chase, Citi, and BMO is terrible. Really terrible on many levels. I opened a checking, saving and a brokerage account at SoFi a year ago and the technology is far superior to any other bank. Depositing checks is simple, and I have my money immediately. With BoA, I wait 3 days. I have an automatic investment schedule tied to my savings. My checking account earns me 1.80%, compared to nothing at BoA and Chase. Getting personal loans and a CC is simple. Access to my money is far superior than any of the other banks. During the pandemic, most of the branches were closed. I could not get anything done. SoFi has no branches, so they are geared to using technology to get things do. When I do call a CS agent, they are very helpful and knowledgeable. No endless hold times ( BMO ) or terrible attitudes ( Citi ). SoFi is the FUTURE!

Incapable of accepting an opening deposit!!. It’s unfortunate that I have to even give SoFi 1 star. For well over a much now I have had a deposit scheduled and never withdrawn from my bank or deposited into my invest account. Hurdle after hurdles. Achieve the hurdles still no deposit. What do I have to do? Buy them a dozen roses and propose to just get a deposit in. It’s hard to start an invest account when they will never deposit your money so that you can invest. Gross incompetence. How can anyone trust a brokerage account that does not like to accept money? You sure won’t make any money, but on the bright side you won’t loose any as well. All you will loose is a lot of time and get to watch the security you were interested in and the only reason you decided on giving SoFi a shot, you will get to watch it move so much that you don’t want it anymore and are just disappointed and disgusted . That has been the experience with SoFi. So far pure disgusting disappointment. Also, you guessed it I’m still waiting on that opening deposit.

SoFi hands out miracles. I was driving home from a family funeral that was held out of state, I had my 6 year old son sitting in the back seat jamming out to Rush with his dad, and we ran out of gas 50 miles from home. Since the pandemic work has been slow and finances have taken a dive in my life. Texas weather in the summer has always been less than pleasant, but I knew I had to figure out something to keep the precious cargo in the backseat cool. That and he’s a mommas boy so I had to get him home. I had completely forgotten that just a few days before, I had made a successful referral on SoFi’s behalf that resulted in them gaining another banking client. The $75 that had miraculously appeared in my checking account not only gave us the fuel and food to make it home, I also had some beer money left over 😂. Thank you SoFi for staying loyal to your customers and honestly saving the day!

So far, so good!. I have been using this bank as a Christmas fund and not an everyday checking. I have put about $300 so far in about 2 1/2 months of having it and have almost gained $0.25! You will never see this in any other checking! Since I haven't used this for a normal checking, I haven’t fought with overdraft fees or any of that, but to watch my money grow as a Christmas fund is absolutely amazing and so much fun. This is better than a CD or mutual fund because there is no maturity date or anything of that sort to wait for, so I can pull the money out as I please. I have also talked to customer service and they have been very polite and willing so get all the answers I have asked about. I also havent run across anyone that seems to want to just push you off the phone and count you as another number. (Ex: I got 42 calls today. How many did you get?) This has been great in the almost 3 months and I have no complaints.

Dispute process and investment account. Dispute process is absolutely trash!!!! They canceled my card and made it to where I couldn’t take any money out. Also made me wait 14 days to receive my card. And they told me that I would have my money back by 10 days. Money is nowhere to be found and I disputed the fraudulent activity for no reason. I also put over 700 dollars in my investment account but it takes over a week to get those funds back in your checking account. And they don’t tell you all that when you are investing the money. They don’t tell you until it’s already too late. Starting to feel like this app is a scam. Just like all other banks. Worst part about it is, not one person from customer service could give me a valid answer to when everything was going to be fixed on my account. They literally just come up with answers on the spot. I wouldn’t personally recommend joining Sofi banking, for they’re too many issues with customer service and to many misleading perks that you have on the app

Switch to a Ping-pong paddle. So imagine catching investors like playing tennis with a tennis ball the size of sand... So when you swing the tennis racket at a ball the size of a grain of sand the vast majority of those balls will simply pass through the openings between the racket stings. Now imagine the stings represent the rich... and can only contact the largest 5% of these imaginary sand size tennis balls. And the %95 percent that don’t contact with your tennis racket represent the small investor...I suggest you switch to ping-pong paddle instead. Embrace all investors by vastly rethinking current model for buying and selling fractional shares. Everyone deserves easy access to investing and this trend will not change. This tennis match has changed. You need to hit balls of all shapes and sizes so I suggest you play the game with a ping-pong paddle. You can hit every ball you can reach. Conclusion fast free fair access to trading fractional shares is the best way forward. Good luck on your journey. 🖖

Great money options. Bad for stocks.. I initially got the account for the great deal with SoFi money. Then I decided to get some extra in there and try out SoFi investing. I like the first part, not a fan of the investing. It’s very basic. Like very basic. Your normal stock purchase and selling rules are non-existent. You just tell it to purchase. Not when to purchase. No thresholds. And it will just purchase it for you whenever it’s convenient for the app. My last purchase was in the morning and it didn’t put in my order until about 4pm-ish. The price had jumped since my order was put in and it charges the shelf price for when it purchase the stock. Not when the order was put in. So for me I lost out on money because the delay in the purchase. Do not use this app for day trades or even week trades. It’s only useful for long term investing. A month maybe. Because if you are after buying and selling, cashing in on penny’s...then you gonna have a bad time.

Best Banking app and The Best Banking Services. I’ve been using Sofi Money and few other Investment products for a while. I don’t normally write a product review but I had to this time. I just wanted to say thank you sofi for making my life easier and better and teaching me how to bank and invest. Can you believe I had 4-5 different types of accounts in 3-4 different institutions? I closed all of them and now I manage all my money in one app. You will get checking account, savings account, Stock and crypto trading, IRA, Home loan, Student loan all in one app (and without any fees). I hope sofi stays the same - a new way of banking for millennials! However, Sofi Home Loan is not something I liked. I had to back out of the loan at the last moment because of non responsive loan officer and it took too much time (2+ months) to close the loan. I understand the due to Covid they are moving slow but don’t promise that you can close a loan in a month and keep moving the closing date further and further.

Functional but lacking app for investing. The app does basic investing and selling as expected. My problem is you don’t have basic settings to monitor your portfolio. There is no way to see if you are up or down log term in a stock unless you click on each stock individually. Just showing me the total portfolio and if it is up or down doesn't really help much in parsing out bad investments quickly. Another issue is there is no calendar year setting to tell me the total dividends I have been paid by each stock to date. You must go into each stocks individual transactions and add it up yourself. The basic interface is okay but it does not perform some of the simpler things a portfolio investing account should do to help ease the work of managing money. I know they want to be a banking service provider, but can’t imagine doing other business with them with the lack of depth the app has shown me so far.

It’s good but Wallet & text entry experiences are bad. Way better than certain other banks, but not without fault. In particular, the experience of entering text is sub-par. The text fields are rarely labeled for auto fill, & they use non-native controls that feel terrible. When I changed my address, this issue was in my way in a few ways: The keyboard did not suggest an address. Triple tapping to select the line did not work. The paste button looked wrong. It’s not just there. It’s the whole app. Auto fill also doesn’t work when adding somebody to Zelle. Also the add to wallet button hides if the card is already installed in Wallet, so if you need multiple copies, you have to do your phone last. Not easy to figure that out. Also as far as I can tell, this app is the ONLY way to add SoFi cards to Wallet. Wallet was not designed for that & it is annoying sometimes.

Service is great, but WAY too much marketing.. I like SoFi Money, I like the features (vaults especially), but I don't like the obscene amount of marketing I have to look at both within the app and via email. I just signed up yesterday, and I already received two emails in the same day with "ACTION REQUIRED" in the subject line prompting me to sign up for direct deposit. The second email came after I had already unsubscribed from marketing emails (I know it takes a few days to update their system, but it's just an annoyance). The app itself has "cards" that show up every time you sign in. These cards are mostly ads for other SoFi services in the form of blogs or newsletters. You can hide cards, but next time you sign in there will be a fresh batch of them waiting for you. As far as I know there is no way to turn them off altogether. PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE. Overall, I'm happy with SoFi so far, but the aggressive marketing is a serious turn off for an otherwise great account.

Great as a bank, and great for beginner investors. I’ve been using SoFi as my main checking and investing for a few months now, but I opened the account back when SoFi Money released. Although there are a few features I’d like to see added, and although there’s always room for overall improvement, I gotta say, I’ve had a pretty good experience so far. I’m one of the lucky ones that was grandfathered into the ATM fee reimbursement and it’s definitely saved me a good amount. What I currently use with SoFi are their invest account, checking and credit card and I’ve had zero issues so far. What I’d like to see: 1. CLEAN UP THE UI PLEASE! It’s so busy with SoFi adds and deposit reminders and it’s definitely not as fluid as something like Acorns. 2. I don’t plan on using vaults for anything until the interest rate goes up, but I’d like to see more customization options for vaults, like placing custom images and such. Definitely a bank worth checking out!

Great Integrated App. Nice to see everything in one place. There are still areas that could be improved but overall certainly superior to what I have seen from legacy banks. Some recommendation include. - updating the money account to include pending credit card payments rather than just posted - separate category for debit cards which are correctly withdrawn immediately from money but show in pending transactions until they are posted. This can be confusing in the mobile app audit since other transactions are not in money until they are posted. To reconcile I normally have to go online were each transaction and balance is identified. - allow set up of beneficiary for personal investments. This is allowed in joint accounts with automated trading but not in personal accounts for manual trading. - invest should display online ledger to include cost, current price, value, gross margin without having to wait for a statement.

Do your homework first. Not a good product, it is very challenging to deposit checks and get a reasonably quick access to your money. This product is not for everyone. Don’t be conned with all the pretty bells and whistles. Check into it first. After much excitement to move my account to SoFi, I have grown very disappointed in this service. A check made out to my 10 years daughter in her name can't be deposited and was returned., causing to reach out to the family members who provided her the gift. My former bank (CHASE) easily deposited the checks in the past. I called on this matter on Saturday (1/25) 7:40PM (EST) and waited 25 minutes (passed from one department to another) and then told the Money Department closed at 8:00PM (EST) and I would have to call back on Sunday morning. I deposited a separate check from a local business and a major bank on Saturday afternoon (1/25) and now told the check will not clear until 1/29. My previous bank was much faster and more efficient and did not sacrifice on security. SOFI has been very disappointing. I am in need of access to my finds to pay bills and manage affairs. I thought this product would help with that and unfortunately it is not useful at all.

Best Bank EVER. I can’t say enough good things. This app is the perfect mobile banking solution for me in my early career. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new autopilot feature which allows me to do something similar to traditional cash envelope stuffing but virtually! I can split up and automate my savings, which makes it super convenient to meet my different savings goals! I also enjoy the investing portion, though I don’t use it as much as I probably should. I currently use Charles Schwab for my indexes and ETFs, but I really should just use SoFi for everything for my own convenience. I was using RocketMoney (previously TrueBill) to view all my recurring charges and all of my accounts in one spot, but I got rid of it entirely with SoFi. In fact, I got rid of my Acorns account as well because SoFi supports roundups too! Ugh, I can’t fangirl enough. When anyone asks me anything finance-related, best believe I’m bringing up SoFi! I love my bank! :)

Personal opinion great app great service. Now I may not support loans and credit (it destroys lives of people born without advantages, assets and not taught how to get them) but I do support checkings, savings, rewards and investments. Based on what I support SOFI does a great job with those services. Account integration, vaults, rewards, early pay, competitive APY for both checking and savings and vaults, stocks, etfs and crypto investing all in one easy to use app. That’s is genius! The app design is great as well however, I wish they can update the dark mode to make it pure black (obsidian) not the black-grayish theme they’re trying to pull off, how do you mess that up? Also I believe updating the charts in invest to be a little more technical may pay dividends for consumers base, if they allow trading. Other than that perfect service for me! SOFI can find alternatives for revenue and growth besides putting low income people in debt or buying giant stadiums, they’ll be fine. I’m not an investor of SOFI stock just the service.

Price chart/list screens are inconsistent!. There are several charts and price lists within the investing area of the app. None of them are consistent so you can actually see your position on your investments. Prices of your stocks are different on each screen, when you go into a particular stock the “day” tab showing the price and chart of the stocks performance doesn’t load. You have to refresh the screen a couple of times, and you have to continually refresh manually to update the price. It is hard to know where I stand in a certain investment when the price displays are not real-time and consistent. Same thing happens on the purchase/sell screen price isn’t updated and you end up loosing money on the trade. (Yes, I understand the trade execution maybe delayed and price may change). RobinHood is able to keep price displays accurate and consistent in real-time...why can’t you? Also, they up charge you on Crypto trades (buy and sell) at 1.5%, DO NOT USE their crypto service!! Until you fix this I’m pulling my money from your service.

Needs more work. The vision is a good one but this needs a lot of work and it shouldn’t be a $15 publicly traded stock. It tries to replicate a news feed experience but they are too stupid to realize that a news feed is people/persona driven and so seeing the SoFi icon instead of attractive people’s faces delivering you the platform information makes it very impersonal. You should automatically get five friends when you join each of them bots who provide you with the different info categories and you should be able to chat/message the bots for additional info and links. The bots should represent real financial people who are recruited as attractive spokespeople for the platform. Maybe you can even get them to respond to your messages in real time if you have good questions that don’t fall into the standard categories. So that’s just for starters. It’s cool that this is trying to transform your friend networks into a financial subculture but it’s lacking Zuckerberg’s vision for user interface/user experience. It’s a clunky interface and they have not yet found the right social formula to unlock a deep unique social experience.

New UI is bad. Please give users the option to revert to the old UI. I gave the new one a week or two to see if it grew on me, but it didn’t. There is less information displayed less clearly over more space, with less borders and such to break it up and make it easy to read on the go. Why remove the total profit made on investments that was below the daily % gain? I used this app for investments because of how intuitive it is, and will switch if necessary. I’m sure SoFI spent piles of money on the redesign and doesn’t want that to go to waste, but you WILL lose users over this. It’s not an improvement in any way. Update: it’s also really irritating that the new UI doesn’t save view preferences. I always order my holdings from highest value to lowest, and display % change. Every time I login, view is defaulted top ordering lowest to highest, and showing $ change. I get that you guys think my highest priority is checking the value of the $0.12 I own of whatever stock I picked to redeem my SoFi points to, but I should be allowed to set my own priorities, and not have to fiddle with sorting and filtering every time I log on.

Great but could be better.. I downloaded and received their card back in April and I was not expecting much. I actually was given the link and thought nothing of it, never used until a couple of months ago. I read up on the perks and it had me questioning why doesn’t anybody abuse this? Sofi reimburses fees, great for traveling whenever low on cash. No minimum, however they do a soft check on your credit, and a former 2.25% yield that shrunk down to a mere 1.80 as of now. can’t directly deposit money so that’s disappointing, still have to rely on a physical bank. Investing feature is underwhelming. I currently use M1 dinance and it does everything sofi does but for free. No maintenance/manager fees. I would completely use one over the other if they had both of the best features. That might change soon since M1 might improve. I’m content with using both but honestly still could be better.

Account emptied. one of my students had his 13 year old sister murdered. I work hard for my money and the community. Today, my SoFi checking account was emptied. Like 60% of Americans I live pay check to pay check. I contacted SoFi on 3 different occasions and they said they would get back to me in 10 days. Like, I’m going to be drinking milk for 10 days so I can feed my child real food. I’m not going to make rent. Because they wouldn’t address people stealing out of my account as it was happening as I was on the phone as a whole classroom full of kids with dead parents watched. I’m going to try and survive the 10 days, as a teacher though the $3k stolen from me today is life and death, if I don’t get that money back soon then I’m tapping out of society and humanity. I’m just done, I can’t take anymore. I wouldn’t use this bank. It took me from the first time I had optimism in a long time to actually being more than passively suicidal. If someone in the company cared, answered, intervened or anything else I would be looking at 10 days of eating grasshoppers as an American with a masters degree. Good luck.

Not there yet. I am huge believer in the potential of what SoFi can be. I am long on the company. But the company is not there yet. Their app cannot handle the movement of money like a traditional bank, or quickly process inflows or outflows of money to include investments. Sent in about 9 grand from one of my accounts. Sofi split it up into 3 lump sums: about 3 grand each phased over a week. Invested the first portion of that money into an IRA and an active investing account, Sofi froze my account. Sold the investments. Locked up all transfers in/out of the account - which means that third installment? Hasn’t even landed yet. This was in November and it’s still not even been paid attention to despite calling their support & customer service multiple service. One nice representative. One other representative who questioned I even sent money into the bank - with my bank statement in front of him and uploaded. And it’s still not fixed. Think about that: one month to not even fix an issue and be locked out of ALL your financial instruments? Checking? Savings? Investments? That would cost me money if they were truly my sole bank. And what if this WAS my only bank? Then I would be absolutely screwed and at the mercy of people who clearly either can’t handle the volume of customers, or do not know what is going on. I’ve never see a more unprofessional time on customer service or technical support. Stay away.
