Fast response to issues.. I paid for this app to unlock all the features which included to the no watermark. Now I have to pay AGAIN because they changed the way there doing things. This upsets me very much because I should have gotten a notification. It won’t let me restore my previous purchase. This isn’t work the $20 a year. I’ll find something else. UPDATE: They restored the "Restore purchase" option and I now have my purchased items back. Thank you to the developers that worked so fast to correct an issue.

No ability for long videos. Nice app but far from a 5 star. I’m loading a 2 minute video and it seems to only provide 8 seconds. Seems like the ability to add more text on timeline and ability to make longer videos. I know its focus is maybe for short 15 second Instagram but we know have 60sec stories and now up to 10 minute IGTV. Not going to purchase app until it can offer text for longer video.

Downside: Changes the Colors of your Image. The app functionality is great. I use this app to add flashy text that says “New Post” and sometimes music over an image I’d just posted on Instagram, so that I can upload this saved project into my Insta Stories and make people aware I just posted new content. The only down side to the app is that the app does no retain the colors of the image you import into it. It changes the colors to have a very purple/pink tone. I’m glad I’m not actually posting the project from this app onto my wall, so for now it will suffice for just a story post, but if I were using it for content on my wall, I’d trash the app. Also, it would be nice to have a “browse” function for music and that the music would ply longer snippets over the image. Sometimes I don’t have a specific song in mind and the snippets are very short on the image unless you speed up the playback of the song.

Amazing. That’s is like the best app ever! I love it. Though there are not so many options and we have to pay or it has the cart on it for the way of the lettering. I would like to just have them for free. Like you could do something other pay. Anyways I’m writing this because I want to get this cool font and I had to write a review for that. Other that that it’s amazing and I love how you can’t put music on to it too.

Loved it for $4-5, but now a subscription??. ***Just saw the update that says those who purchased Hype Type before are grandfathered in & don’t have to subscribe. Thank you for doing this!!! Back to five stars, because I really do love this app. 😁**** What about those of us who paid for it before?? I just bought the app a few months ago and now I have to pay for a subscription? I’m surprised you don’t grandfather in your original purchasers—or at least give us a discount on the first year’s subscription. I’m just going to find a new app now...

Great App, Still some things to work on. This app is a fantastic Idea, I haven’t found something similar yet and intuitive, although it can and has to be improved with some simple basics that are essential, 1st, when I add a video on my own, I should be able to add many at a time and be able to trim them to fit a story. Effects might also be nice to have. I should be able the lenght of the quote and add others, and I don’t understand why it just cuts my videos sometimes when I add music and it lags also, implement this things and fix the bugs and you’ll get 5 stars from me!

Don’t bother downloading this app!. So after several months of using this app for free, the developers decided to “upgrade” it by limiting the features and add a logo. Now, if you want an add-free / logo free / full service app, you get a 7-day trial and then pay $20/year, instead of the one-time $5. I feel bad for people who paid the $5; I saw complaints on IG that they paid the $5 fee and now have to pay the $20/year to get their features back. I understand that businesses need to make money, but what a terrible way to run a business. Shameful! The app is great, but I don’t love it enough and don’t use it often enough to pay $20/year. I deleted this app immediately.

EDIT TO New update is a scam!. The company reached out and fixed the app!!! Yay! Thanks! I absolutely have loved this app and used it daily. I already purchased to remove the watermarks, etc. I share this app with my entire work team as well. We have all ALREADY purchased to remove the watermarks, but now with the new update it requires a $20 payment to unlock. This wouldn't be a problem if we had not each already paid $3 when that was the set price. When you try to restore your purchase it does now allow you to do so. Very sad to stop using + going to have to share about the scam of an app I once loved to use! There are several other video editing apps that I plan to try now, though! Going to report to BBB if my purchases are not restored or my $3 is not returned.

LOVE THIS APP. I totally love this app. It makes your photos stand out so much more and catches the eyes of everyone. I love using it for photos I put on my IG stories or highlights. I do believe there could be more options and they should allow you to change the font on all letters because you may love “A” but want the font of “R”. They should also give you more color choices in my opinion they have the same colors over and over. Since the recent update I’ve also noticed that sometimes after saving my photo and leaving the app, the words don’t show up when I go to post on my IG so there’s still a few bugs that need to be worked out. Please Hype Type add the features I wrote above and make the app better with more features as recommended. I would’ve gave it 5 stars if the app had what I recommended above.

Nice but.... Only 4 stars because first I would like to see more options. Second, nobody wants to pay an expensive monthly subscription fee just to remove the watermark! Come on, now! I hate that these apps are now charging monthly fees for limited options. Looking for one that does the same that I can just pay for outright for $4 or less and not have a monthly fee. Or pay a onetime fee of .99 to remove the watermark. I would do that but not paying monthly for it.

Updated my app and still having to pay. I read there’s a “restore” button but I don’t see it anywhere in the app. I paid for all the unlimited features, including the exclusion of the watermark before, and I understand that the developers decided to change the way their app works, but they should still honor those who purchased all the features prior to the change. If I bought something, I don’t see why now I have to pay extra. I wouldn’t have bought the extra features if I knew it needed a yearly subscription. Please fix it.

They ruined it (UDATE:then fixed it). *see update after initial review* I’ve been happily using this app for months. They just did a change that adds a watermark. The only way to remove the watermark is to pay a yearly subscription of $20. I’d be more than happy to pay a one time purchase fee for an app that I like. But I’m getting sick and tired of apps creating “subscriptions.” Now I’ve got to find another app that does the same thing because I refuse to pay for a stupid subscription. UPDATE: I had previously paid a one time fee for the app to have the watermark removed. Once they did the update, the watermark was back and the only way to remove it was by paying an annual subscription. I was really disappointed as I love the app. It works great and I use it regularly. But I won’t sign up for a subscription. And I was disappointed that my previous purchase meant nothing. Then the developers contacted me to let me know that they would honor all previous purchases and grandfather us in. The watermark has been removed and the app works perfectly. Thank you very much!

New Update made me delete this app. Want to start by saying I enjoy this all and use it weekly across social media platforms to inform my followers that I have a new post up. I love the effects and the music adds a very nice touch. Once you get past the automatic cropping ratio, this app is very useful. However, the new update forces you to pay $20 a year to remove the watermarks as well as locks some features. This wouldn’t be a problem if I had not already paid $3 before the update to remove the watermark and to use all the other effects. When I try and restore my purchase, the app will act like it ignores my request and has locked me out from removing watermarks. I feel as if I should not have to pay again to unlock all the features I had previously bought. If the developers can fix this issue, then of course I will continue to use this app. For the meantime, I will be using another app to inform my followers.

The new update allows custom photos. To those claiming that the new update doesn't allow you to insert your own photos and vids: you gotta slide up on the camera button. This should bring up the option to enable your camera roll for app permissions. Once you do that, then your camera roll should show.

THANK YOU FOR FIXING - This is a great app.... UPDATE: Thank you to the developers for getting back and fixing this. Really appreciate you doing the right thing by your loyal customers. I will now leave full stars as this is a great app I use often. I had already paid a year or two ago to remove watermark and buy all the fonts. Now today ie since the latest update it's trying to make me buy for $20 a year what I already bought. This is not fair to your loyal and old customers. It's not right guys. Sure make new customers pay these fees if you wish. But your old customers who have already paid should just be left be. How is this ok? We got no warning at all. Please fix guys. I am always telling people to download this app as I really did love it. Please do the right thing by your loyal customers of many years. Thank you.

At first it was GREAT!. I really loved the free version of the app. I have had it for years. Then I paid to remove the watermark and shelled out the $20 only to find out that the “upgrade” was a major downgrade. The app has been finicky ever since! Now when I add music it really distorts my video/photo. It also has a lag on videos. The and for $20 you only get access to maybe 3 additional text options. Honestly I feel like right after the upgrade they took out some of the text options that were supposed to be in the upgrade... EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. Save your money. There are plenty of other similar apps that can do the same thing.

App is okay!. Dear HypeType Developers, I like your app. I personally think $20 per year is a bit much more though for what’s offered. I write to ask you to fix a bug and hopefully add a few more features for the paid option. The bug: I can’t paste any text I copied into the HypeType which drives me crazy. I have to type long quotes myself! I use HypeType daily and the fact that I can’t paste the text start getting to me since I paid for the app. Would you please take a look at this bug and fix it. I hope for some additional options such as the ability to keep the text from beginning to end on my video. Also I wish for the ability to pick multiple photos/videos to work with as oppose to just one. Thank you!!

Great app but has some bugs. Love this app and its fonts. But my only problem is I have the subscription but it never seems to link with the app so I can use the upgraded fonts which I pay for in the subscription option. Otherwise this app would be getting 5 stars. I hope they figure this out or I’ll be canceling my subscription because it is a great app

What a scam!! Haven’t opened the app yet and got charged $20+. I just got a new phone and downloaded a half dozen different photo and video editing apps to check out a couple weeks ago. I run a virtual business and am always looking for a great new app that will make my content stand out on social media. I have played with a couple of them so far, but have not even opened HYPE TYPE yet. Today they took $21 and change from my PayPal account for their “yearly subscription”! It might very well be super awesome, but BEWARE! You will get charged without any notification or warning!!

Photo Zoom Problems?. I am not sure if this is just me but it definitely does not size photos well. Most pictures I put in don't fit properly or I'm forced to cut of part of the picture. I'd like to take pictures not directly on the app and have them go into the app and just keep them exactly how they are and add the type. I strongly dislike cutting out parts of the picture as when I take pictures I take them exactly how I want them! Also I haven't been able to figure out how to keep the type in a single like without stacking it. It keeps wanting to stack all the type when I'd rather have it smaller but in a single line. Really limits placement in pictures....

Amazing. I love the app, it is just the app I've been looking for, and I’ve been looking for months. It has many different styles, you can combine multiple videos or photos, you can adjust colour, placement, I love it. A few things that can be improved are that you cannot pause the video, making it hard to adjust things sometimes. Also, see if you can add in that each section of text can have different colouring and/or placement. Thanks!

Too short Too fast. Great concept. Cool features. But why does the font not only fly by too fast (even at x.5 slowest setting with short sentences) but also why doesn’t the font last as long as the length of the video? This only allows a less than 30sec video and then the typed words only last half of that at a speed too fast to read. What am I doing wrong? I wasn’t able to use an entire 37sec video and even using four sliding-view separate word bubbles was tricky. Please someone tell me how to post a longer video with longer music and how to slow the words down to fit it. Until then this good for people who want to post a very quick little blurb.

Great way to add pizzazz. This app is a great tool to spice up your Insta story, page posts, etc. I do wish however, that it was easier to find pictures in your library to import into the app. It only scrolls from the most recent image so if you have something saved in an album or something it can be very difficult to get to it. Kind of annoying, but overall, the app is pretty cool.

Missing Controls. As of now the app gets a 1 Star because I can’t use it. I’ve reached out to support but have not received a response. Long story short, I don’t have a way of capturing a picture in the app (yes, I’ve allowed the app to access my camera) but if I use a picture in my photo roll I still don’t have a way to save text that I type. When I type in any text I have a trash can button which deletes what I’ve typed and a close out button which cancels any text typed and returns to the picture. If it’s gesture based, I can’t figure out the proper gestures and there isn’t a place explaining that it’s controlled by hidden gestures. So until I can use the app it gets a 1 Star.

Subscribe or get a Watermark? I call BS. I love this app, but for $20 a year I’ll just purchase a different one that I can own for not much more money. App developers need to think about how many people are going to pay for so many different services before they slap fees on users. They could have done this at half the cost and likely recruited more users. I’ve dropped several apps due to this uncharged “subscribe or leave” nonsense and am done with it. I know developers need to make money to survive. But come on, get reasonable already! There are too many free, or low cost options out there..... that I will now use instead of this one. Bye, and I know others will likely follow.

So. Many. Cons.. Takes FOREVER to download, can’t use my phone until it’s done. If the text moves, there’s no way to snap it back to the middle. I only use it for the font/blur effect and use other apps like Unfold, but this one does the least and yet takes the most time! Then... now it’s not playing sound for some reason when it’s downloaded 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ literary restarted it 3x and... just wasted 15 minutes. I never like leaving poor reviews, but if I’m paying for this (to take off the watermark) then I expect a little more.

HYPE TYPE UPDATE. When I first got this app I loved it so much !! Not to mention I had to pay for it as well!! I never buy any apps ! I loved this app I would use it all the time and all my friends would ask me what app I used , but now the new update has a watermark!!! I hate that EVERY single app is now doing this just to make the customers pay MORE for an app... that’s just low! I would love for Hype Type to please go back to when the watermark wasn’t on the videos !! I would use it more often than now !! That’s why I’m rating it a one star... nobody likes a watermark, and nobody likes having to pay even more money. I already paid for the app so why have to pay it AGAIN to remove the watermark!!!!

New owner doesn’t honor people who purchased app.. I bought this app to unlock all the functions and remove the HypeType watermark a few months ago. I used it nearly everyday for my IG stories. All of a sudden after an update, I noticed the watermark was back. I emailed whom I bought the app from only to find out that they had sold the app. Well the new owners aren’t honoring the people who had ALREADY purchased the app and now they want you to pay $20 a year. What?! No way! I’m moving on unless they fix the issue. I’ve already contacted Apple for a refund or to fix the issue. And I’ve already tried to delete the app, reinstall it, and restore. It doesn’t work. In fact, when you try and restore, the app basically just ignores it. I am beyond disappointed. I’ve made a new IG story about it (NOT using HypeType) and I’m not the only one as others are also agreeing with me. I’d use it again if they fix the issue and honor the customers who’ve already bought this app. This is ridiculous. They are certainly going to ruin their high star rating very rapidly.

HYPE TYPE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST FOR INSTAGRAM AND SNAPCHAT !!. oh my gosh I cannot explain to you enough how much I love this app, it has the best fonts and colors and is definitely worth it. My favorite YouTuber Alisha Marie uses this on here Instagram stories whenever she posts a new picture and it looks so amazing. She recently posted a video about techie things and this was one of them, it is so simple and easy to use to create a great short clip for anything really !! 10 out of 10 would recommend this to everyone I know :)

Use to love it but it needs an update. I use this app for my IG stories and I love it BUT it’s time for an update. When I export my videos to Instagram it lowers the quality of the video and makes it all blurry or my images. I also think whenever you choose a song you should be able to choose from the entire song not only a little clip ex: if I want to use the chorus as my background music I won’t be able to. It is a good app and unique but I just wish it wouldn’t lower the quality

Update: after tons of people were upset this app added the ability to restore your previous purchase Original review: I bought this app to unlock all of the features and they have been relooked without any notification and are now asking to pay $20 to unlock them again! This is ridiculous and they are stealing people’s money and going back on what people have already paid for. Do not trust this app anymore and no longer can recommend this in good conscience.

Being forced to pay again. I love this app, but was very displeased to see that it is now forcing me to pay $20 a year to unlock everything in it! The problem is that I already paid $3 for the app in order to be able to use all of the features. Now all of those features that I paid for have been locked again and they want me to pay $20 a year!!! I am not very happy with this and will be finding another app to use instead!!

$20/ year to basically remove the watermark ??. You are entitled to make money. The world is based on making money. The problem is ALL app and program creators are getting greedy and going insane. From Adobe down to the small app developer. I don’t mind paying for something that is worthwhile and good. I’m actually against the word free. The word free has ruined my business. BUT- there needs to be a line drawn in reality of where you are out of touch and not in reality. $20/ year to remove the watermark and get all the fonts for your little app to write on a photo is not reality. I also think you need to put your app in perspective - this is NOT an annual payment type of app. NOT EVEN close. This is a $4.99 - $6.99 one time purchase app for something of this caliber and when you make big improvements or additions - then perhaps charge an additional $1.99, $2.99, etc for those upgrades. $20/ yr for this is crazy.

Missing something?. So when I first downloaded this app I expected it to be easy to make a hype type thing but for some reason right when I’m done typing out my stuff on where it says “double tap to edit” I have no idea what to press to save and put it on my picture. So I tried looking it up to see if I wasn’t pressing the right thing and on everyone else’s phone they had a check mark thing with their hype type editing but I didn’t. I feel that this is unfair can you please check it.

Great app! It’s just.... I love the app! I think it’s great for animated text, and for adding something flashy. However, I just wish you didn’t have to pay for other fonts and styles, but I get it. They need to make money. But I feel like it’s unnecessary to have to pay to remove the watermark. Also, I love how you can add music for free, I just wish you could choose what part of the song you want. Also, I wish there was a color wheel or something to develop a personalized color. Other than that, it’s a great app! 😁

Really cool, but needs more. So I really like this app, it’s great for making Insta stories. For me, I need my text to be able to be both upper case and lower case text, and also to be able to selectively italicize. For me these limitations are turning me away from the paid version. Also I have problems with the video, when I bring in one of my own, it makes a black window for a certain amount of time and I can’t get rid of it, also turning me away from the paid version. I end up with about 6 seconds of black with animating text, then the last animated text will be over the video, then the video continues to play without any text. This happens when I have multiple pages. I think when it’s one page the issue isn’t there. Pretty frustrating. Once these things are fixed I will gladly pay for the premium version

Nice. Pretty awesome! I like all the styles. But I wish we could import videos/images from our Camera Roll as well, since I have some images that I can't take in real life and NEED some good animated text. I also wonder if we can personally customize the color of the text. The options we have are pretty versatile, but sometimes it still doesn't fit. A simple color wheel would help that, or even a selection of colors for one thing or the other (like, picking one hue for the text and selecting another for any lines?). Thanks for the amazing app, once again. x)

Great..but... This app is great! I love jawing and though I just got I think it’s fine! And mabye I just don’t see it but I with there was a way you could use photos from your personal gallery. And if there is and I just missed it would be helpful to have a full out instruction thing to be with you throughout the time you use the app Incase you forget something. Over all it’s great and I highly recommend!!

Great app for creatives and non-creatives. It's an amazing app. I've been using for over a month and as a designer it's extremely useful to creat image and video with cool animated text. I love mixing it with other apps and posting on my social media channels. It's worth the try especially if you're not in the creative field and want to create great content for your page.

Hype type. I think hype type is a good app to give shoutouts and just fun to edit and to make your own edits and you can can really express yourself with that app because there is no one bothering you and telling you what to do and if its right or wrong you are free to edit what ever who would like to edit about and I like that so that why I like this app out of all the editing apps.

The Best APP is Ruined!. I used to love this app. I bought the full version months ago. I’ve used it in all of my promo videos for my business. The effects looked so professional and the music had all the latest songs . NOW....the app with this new update and watermark feature is completely ruined. All the apps are wanting you to pay for subscriptions. I absolutely refuse based off principle. I paid for the full version and then all of a sudden I come back and can’t get everything I paid for. Not to mention the removal of the watermark was the main reason I paid for the app in the first place. I’m highly disappointed. There’s really not another app like this especially with the quality of effects. But that high subscription cost is where I draw the line. Definitely not worth it. I’ll pay a one time fee if I like the app but not 2x to get the same thing I had, let alone monthly. The APP is ruined!

Makes My Life Easier!. I LOVE using this app so much I purchased it for the whole year because of how easy it is to use. I love that I get to be creative and make my content with my own twist with easy templates. The music is a freaking plus! You literally get to add any music you want to make your content stand out even more!! 💕 Highly recommend trying it!

Purchased version restored!. ***update**** thank you for fixing the issue to restore the previously purchased perks. Very happy with the app now that I can use it as I previously did! ***previous review*** I am quite upset that I paid for the upgraded version of this app to remove their logo. Unannounced to me my app auto-updated and the new version has removed this and I am now stuck with their logo on my graphics unless I pay for their subscription. Since I already paid I feel misled and like I got scammed.

Disappointed. This app is extremely great, easy to use, and fun with all of the different fonts! I barely had this app for less than a month (I paid the $2.99 subscription to get all of the features) and now it says it wants me to pay $20 a MONTH to get all of the features on this app! What the heck? $20 a month is insane. How do you go from a $2.99 payment (not a monthly payment) to $20 a month payment! I’m all for supporting this great app and all, but $20 is just not worth it, especially if you paid $2.99 to get all of the features before...

Good app but it cannot work without camera access?. This seems like a good app with the potential to be a great app with some improvements. I was even considering buying the app - but then on trying it out.... I saw the app would not proceed to show anything or cannot work or go to any screen unless it is given camera access. I gave it access to camera and then added access to camera roll. I later removed camera access thinking it should be able to work off the camera roll access but it was back to the initial screen requiring camera access. This is a huge red flag for me as I feel it should be able to work off the camera roll access where my photos and videos are saved and I would use in this app. Please FIX this - this is terrible design and workflow. I would never compromise my privacy / security for any app ever and will not be buying this app if it works this way. I am forced to delete the free version as it is no use to me in this state.

Already bought app. I read other people that said they had the full featured version of this but were prompted to purchase for $20. This happened to me as well & originally when I clicked the “restore” it said it was restored & to restart the app. After doing that a couple times with the watermark still there, I ended up doing the trial subscription. I haven’t been as active on IG for a bit but intend to be more creative & active again & hope to use the app. If it’s worth it, I guess I may deem it worth the cost. I just don’t like the bait & switch approach. Bc I remember even the original price being a lot higher than most apps at the time. Is there way to refund the difference at the very least?

Great For Quick Text Over Video. This is my go to app for adding quick text to a video. It’s simple and takes less than a minute. I use it almost exclusively for Instagram Story. But it’s not perfect. These are a few features I’d like to see added/updated: - 9:16 orientation automatically chooses the focus point of pics/videos in other ratios (4:3, 16:9,etc.) I’d like to be able to pinch/zoom/drag to the focal point I want - When searching for music, the return list only gives you a set amount of results. Ex: when I search for No Copyright Sounds, I get a list of 16 tracks even though there are much more available. - Sometimes I don’t want to add text, just music. Adding an opacity slider to the font section would be great. Then I could adjust whether the font shows at all or even incorporate a watermark.

Creative. Good for pictures taken by the app.. I thought I read the description carefully more than once and I got the I. Press ion that you can yours your own video or pictures. I only see that you can take pictures w the app and use them. I dont understand. Nice graphics and beautiful colors. I also thought that there would be presto e phrases to choose from. Sorry. I don't see how to view them.

App Dishonest. I previously paid to get the watermark removed before they moved to requiring a yearly subscription. Got on the app and was told to pay for a $20 yearly subscription even though I had previously paid to have it removed. I did the trial first in hopes that my previous purchase would be restored. Ended up paying the $20 subscription to come and find out that the update restored the initial watermark removal I paid for. I would like a refund as it seems unfair to pay additional money for something I paid for originally if the update grandfathered those who did as I’m reading on the other reviews.

Great app, looking for a bit more customization. Have only been using this app for a few hours so I'm still trying it out and discovering it's features. However, I would like to see a bit more customization. I like to keep my videos branded as much as possible. Would love to be able to use my brand colors and fonts. There ARE a lot of color options and fonts, animations, etc! It's fun to play around with!

Sneaky. App tells you so much will be unlocked with the paid version which you can try free for 7days, I used the free trial for one day and after discovering that it doesn’t offer anything other then a watermark removal I removed it from my subscription on that same day.. a week later I got billed for $9 from hypetype 😩 funny thing is I seen someone else’s review saying the same thing before I downloaded this app but I just presumed he had not unsubscribed properly or something, but no it’s just a sneaky piece of trash 😡

Text and Animation great, but could be easier to use. Makes great looking animated text captions. To add the photo, you have to browse your entire library which is sorted from most recent and you only have a tiny window to find the picture, cannot browse/search by different folders so it gets fiddly if you want to do bulk editing of older photos. A few tweaks to this feature and it would be 5 stars

Amazingly Minimal. Amazingly minimal app. Works like a charm and provides me some amazing clips from time to time. I placed a 4-star rating based off the entirety of the app - the app icon was better prior to the recent update - the new one looks outdated, as if we are still dwelling in 2010.

Really disappointed!. I have been getting billed for an app that hasn’t even removed the watermarks. I also have been trying for hours to unsubscribe, however there is no option to! It is definitely a scam. And I will be making a complaint!

Having problems with the app. The app is great but I’ve tried typing and there is no tick button so I can finish typing and it won’t let me take photos but it may be because I am on an iPad but I would love to know how to fix it

Can’t unsubscribe to prevent being charged.. Trialled it. Was okay but I didn’t like it enough to keep it. Could not figure out how to unsubscribe. Now being charged a lot for something I don’t need. “Sneaky piece of trash” is someone else’s review. I feel the same way. 😡 The reason I didn’t feel it was worth keeping was that the footage you take has to be spot on. No re-takes nor can you just pre-load footage you already have. That’s just not realistic for me to use it that way.

Little to no functionality. There is hardly no difference from the paid to unpaid other than the watermark. It weirdly cuts time from the end of videos with no option on how to fix it or address is. Don’t waste your time or money!!

Annoying auto renewal plan. The app works ok for me, but I was charged about 30 dollars for the auto renewal plan, I was totally unaware of that and not authorized for it! Be careful with this app! I do not approve such a sneaky way of making money!!! Deleting it right now and never recommend to anyone

Great app to level up your IG stories. Love the app, great for adding texts, transition effects and music to your IG stories. Would be great if there is a centre or alignment guide when moving text around and also more controls like being able to stop at a certain point to see the edited effects instead of a constant loop of the video. Please change the app icon, the old one was much better.

The app is going down hill. I was amazing but then today when I want to use it I can’t type text in. I have re-downloaded the app just incase that was that problem but no it wasn’t.

It’s okayyyyy. I just wish I could use pictures from my library (photo album) from my phone to create hype types. Why is that not an option???

Shutting off abruptly. Every time i open up an image, i start typing what i want, the minute i start choosing a different font the app freezes and shuts off!!! It’s also not compatible with other languages! I make posts in English and Arabic to raise oral health awareness and when I type in Arabic, the font doesn’t come out as it does in other apps and it causes more freezing to the app! So frustrating!

Doesn’t work anymore. Used to be great. Now it freezes whenever I try and add text making it completely useless. Will delete this if it’s not addressed soon

Never works. Even though I am subscribed it won’t let me remove the HYPE TYPE icon. This is an expensive app, I don’t even know how to get help.

Limited Basic App. Don’t let the number of reviews fool you. This is a basic app that is no better then so many others that are a fraction of the cost. There is no way to justify the cost of this app and on top of it all, charge it as a subscription. Just search “text video” and you will find a dozen more for a few dollars one time cost. They hope you forget about apps like these and in a year end up with a reoccurring charge knowing you will cancel but by that time you would have spent $50.00 and for what? Check out any other app and compare. You can’t even add a second video clip here or use formats that social media use. Only vertical videos!!!!

I contacted the developer to see if they could honor my previous purchase but it bounced back. Really unfortunate. I really wanted to use this app for content. Now I've read the comments about them honoring the original purchases and sent a message to the company. No response. I hope they will respond and honor my original purchase instead of this new subscription.

Annoying price change. I downloaded this months ago and decided to post a review now. I wanted to add some animated text to my Instagram stories. Before I could play with the apo to decide if I wanted to purchase they changed the price to an subscription plan instead of the original flat price. Had I bought it when I downloaded it, I would have stayed on that price tier but now with the subscription plan I decided not to bother. I hate that this is the new model that everyone a going toward to try to gouge the end user.

Could be great BUT.... 1.) You can’t add music (when you click on a song it takes you to a place to download the music but say the link is bad) 2.) $20 is a bit much to buy this app but that is a subscription price! NOPE! I would consider BUYING it for $20 if everything worked. 3.) Does this app have the ability to choose a photo or video from photo album or can you only edit them as you take them? I think it’s only as you take the photo or video.

Disappointed. I was using and loving the app BUT after that renew or whatever it’s become a disaster. First the watermark came back. I restored and it disappeared OK, Thanks a lot. BUT the other stuff I loved disappeared completely. For example the ability to NOT add the text... creating slideshows or connecting few short videos in one. Where all the fun stuff? Now its very poor in comparison with old times... I hope you will hear me.

Needs Branding Work & Slow Mo. Ugly app face sorry guys I pay for this app you gotta invest in some better design simple black and white less bro-ey I mean yeah I get it HYPE but still. Secondly when recording something in slow mo on my camera roll as soon as it goes into hypetype it returns to regular speed. It would be so helpful to still be able to use in the original slow-mo format.

Great for text & music. I’m still learning to use this app so i haven’t quite figured out all the options yet but it’s great so far. It’s great for adding text or music. I thought there would be options for stock backdrops but I don’t think there are. Still awesome for editing & adding life to your posts though.

Where’s the button to get photos from you photo library?. I love the app I think it great but I would love there to be a button to where you can access a photo from your photo library... is it just me or do some people not want to take a picture at that moment when they want to create one.

Used to love, but new update cost is 👎🏼👎🏼. I used to use this app everyday so I paid the $3 to get rid of the water mark, but now it’s saying you have to pay $20 for all the features. I don’t care about additional graphic elements, I just want the water mark removed. I deleted & re downloaded but the water mark is still there?? So now I have paid for nothing? If this is not fixed, I want my money back for the update.

This is a really cool app!. This app is crazy fun! The only thing I would want to change about it, is how long the songs play. I love how you have such a big variety of songs and music to play, but I wish you could play the songs for longer. For now, that’s the only thing I wish would happen. Good when it wants to work. I love this app, but I have to open it several times before it I can select a picture or video. This app use to work great, until they did the updates and upcharge. I definitely grow tired of having to waste 10mins on opening and closing the app, just to produce a dope video

NEW UPDATE IS HORRIBLE. I’m extremely upset with this new update. I’m sick of good app creators updating their apps so that they can make money and so that their apps aren’t what they used to be. I used to use Hype Type to make all kinds of cool animated gifs and it was FREE and there was NO WATERMARK. And the whole thing was so easy to use and awesome! I still have some of my Hype Type creations on Amino (my old, old Hype Type stuff). Anyway, I come back to this app years later and bOY AM I LIVID with this terrible update! I can’t even copy and paste my creations as gifs anymore! What the heck is up with that!

Paid and now having to pay again????!. So I bought the program pay to have the watermark removed and now it seems that it’s come back for some reason it’s not on the I have to pay again which is kind of weird because if you go already paid to have a remove the first time around not too sure why it’s forcing me to pay again now that I’m using my other phone still logged into the same account but now it’s saying I have to pay

Waste of purchase. Just a few months back, I had purchased to remove the water mark only to find out that I was limited to only certain features. Removing the watermark is based by a yearly subscription now. I tried updating the app & deleting it and purchasing it from the App Store again but nothing changed. I really enjoyed this app until this happened.

Creates fun clip, just one thing .... Been using it to create fun personalized mini clips for birthdays and such. Need to have loop or replay option. Right now creates a line loop clip and you have to hit play each time. Would line to be able to embed instructions to loop 3 or 5 times. That would be worth a paid version.

The underscores!!!!. One of my biggest problems with this app is font A. All of my usernames for any social media account I have has an underscore and personally, I like font A the best, but I can’t use the because it does not register the underscore, so it doesn’t show up. So far though, that is my only problem with the app.

I can't download the Hype Type images!. I recently discovered this great app and yes, it would come handy with my IG feeds. I even upgraded to an annual subscription. The only issue I am facing is the inability to download (or upload on social media) the Hype Type images into my camera roll. I click the download icon, then I see a small icon showing it's downloading. I click the download arrow icon again and I see a checkmark. That's it. I go back to my camera roll, and nothing. Am I missing something??

i love this app!. as a social media marketing/content creator i love this app. the typography types + variations could use a SLIGHT brush up more variety many of the fonts are similar. also the $20 year is good but there should be other cheaper options just in case. options will always keep people around they’re convenient!

I don’t like it. I wanted to like this app but I hate it! You can’t upload any video from your phone. You have to take the video through this app. Then you have to finish editing the video before you can go on to the next video. It’s not a great app when you are taking videos of a million things at once and wanting to edit them later. It’s great for one task at a time. If you want to take video, edit, and save all at once, then this is great but it doesn’t work for me.

I’ll be fair. 3 stars for the quality. Why is this app so hard to work? Where did the blue check to confirm your text go? I type and the only available buttons are the X, “” and trash. I’m assuming it cost money to try the app which is fine, but it would be nice to put that upfront before someone downloads it for nothing. 3 starts because I’ve seen the quality but otherwise, this quite misleading.

Not what I was expecting. I downloaded this app hoping for more camera filters and stickers, but I was heavily disappointed to discover there was no filters or stickers. If that is what you are looking for in a app this one is not for you. Other than that it is a good app for putting texts on pictures and videos and making cool videos, but just not what i’m looking for in an app.

Love it but.... I love this app but recently I’ve been trying to add text over some dance videos for a dance studio I work at and when I add the text it messes with the sound and video sync. I really want to use the app but I can’t have the kids dancing off beat! I tried on and off WiFi so I’m not sure what’s going on. Hopefully this glitch is fixed soon!

Useful in a way. This app is great when it comes to bugs and things like that cause they usually don’t have any and if they do they get right on it! But the video quality is not very good...... I only use it to make memes but overall good app!

Doesn’t even work. When you double tap to edit the text it goes to a place to type in your text, but then there is no ✔️mark or anything to complete the edit. Only an exit button and trash button. Tried clicking all over the screen and nothing happened. Also when you click on any of the editing buttons at the bottom for Text, Brightness, etc. the buttons disappear and the screen doesn’t change.

UHM ??. Ok love the app & am thankful they Grandfathered us users who already purchased the app in but,,, there’s a small problem, when typing text it wont let you exit after typing what you want.... if you exit it just goes back to regular “Double Tap to Type “ line ~ please fix thank you !! :)

No longer worth it... Used to be able to choose a video from your camera roll to add the text over, now you can only shoot live video from your phone. Pointless. Even the best phones shoot junk video. When you are trying to run a Professional or flawless Instagram feed quality is crucial. I don’t shoot anything on my phone. All photo and video comes from DSLR, and on the go it USED TO BE NICE to have a tool like this to add quality motion graphics on the go..

Great video titling app. No import video feature.. I need a app like this to add motion titles to my edited films. Great options in font and style. Developer had not added a import video option yet. Please add a import video option. Update: Found the import video option. Seems to be a hidden feature. Press on the camera screen and swipe up. That revels your photo / video library.

Great Up Until.... Bought the app to remove the watermark. However, once I updated it it has asked me to pay AGAIN to remove watermark. I honestly wouldn’t complain if it was a dollar or so, however they’re asking me to pay much more than that for the same features before I had updated it.. what gives?! I like the app. Just don’t update once you’ve already paid for it once? Update: The developer contacted and sincerely apologized. They updated the bug and I was able to restore it back. The watermark is now removed and I am happy with this app!

Just what I was looking for!. This app is absolutely awesome just what I was looking for how to add captions to my videos to make it more appealing. Would definitely recommend it if you spend a lot of time on Instagram Facebook Twitter etc. Thank you so much! I am absolutely grateful.🙏🏻

So far so good. So far I don’t have any complaints. I got it so I can make promotional videos for Black Friday and everything is great! To me it’s worth the price cause the music you can add to the video or picture actually works from iTunes. Unlike many other apps. There’s no fuss.

All most perfect! Needs one more thing!. For those of us who pay for this app, there needs to be a favorites section for the music we like. As a very busy wife and mom who’s time to spend selecting music is limited, being able to pre put in music, being able to go back quickly find and grab would be HUGE!!

Watermark problem. I signed up for a 7 day free trial and also purchased the subscription (which stinks). The watermark still hasn’t been removed. I’ve exited the app many times and even updated my iOS and the app. I’m irritated and hoping it will be fixed I don’t want to pay for a watermark.

Not paying a subscription. I too purchased this app before the yearly subscription and now have to pay a $20 to remove a watermark. I already have the latest version and do not have a restore button. Guess I’ll be looking into using other apps that are similar and not so expensive. The Over Edit & Add Text To Photos app is close. Great app but I’m not paying again.

Highly suggest buying the full version. Good app I would suggest buying the full version it’s very nice for the type of things I use it for not just for Instagram but for Snapchat to or Facebook or just to make cute or funny things to send to friends and you can pick mostly any song you want for feee it’s great :)

Another app killed by a subscription scheme. Sorry no subscription. One time price fine. Subscriptions no. I understand you need to make money. But I’m not renting an app. I don’t rent clothes or games at a store or socks. I buy them outright. I can’t imagine if stores soon went to this crazy model of subscription for things. Yes I’d like to rent a pair of trousers , for a day or so. It’s like in app purchases. You don’t actually get the full game and now with subscription you don’t even get the app on top of the extra in app purchases. Crazy.

Completely Unusable. Waste of $3. Don’t Buy! Terrible! I paid $3 for this app before the most recent update and used it for a few months to promote some Instagram stories. Now, all of the sudden they do a sneaky update to the app and it blasts a huge spinning MADE WITH HYPE TYPE watermark over my movie. What the heck?!! That completely ruins my movie and I’m not going to pay $3 to promote these guys so they can turn around and charge an additional $19 PER YEAR to use an app that I already paid for!!! I’m reporting this to Apple to get a refund!

Hypo type subscriber. I’ve bought the app for 2.99 so I don’t have the watermark ... and now it doesn’t work & keep asking for yearly subscription. Very disappointed after6 months that I was using the app without a problem. Now they want me to subscribe again.

Need more time on videos. They only allow 10 second videos instead of 15 so the words scroll by too fast even on .5 speed. I really would have liked it to go slower so my audience could read my story

It’s ok. I enjoy this app dearly but the downside is that there are such short music skits on the image, I also recommend having a longer choice for music like a browse. 3rd if we could move the little box that shows what app we used to move to another place in the image? 4th maybe a choice in colors we could use for the image?

Great app but not for me right now. It is a great app I plan on using in the future however I do not need it now and I have not been able to cancel my subscription during my trial week so I am slightly frustrated with the fact I will have to pay for something I won’t even use yet.

Not happy. I have been using Hype Type for several months now & was extremely pleased with it. When I first downloaded the app I had purchased the upgraded version to have the watermark removed. But, when I went on to create something with it this morning, the watermark was back on my photos and they have now made it to be a yearly subscription meaning I would have to repay for the app that I had already bought the upgrade for. That doesn’t seem right for the people who have already purchased the app originally.

CANT RESTORE MY PURCHASE!. I love this app but as others have noted, I’ve lost my one time purchase! I’ve tried contacting the developer, but the webpage is down. Upon reading other reviews and responses, I’ve searched for the ‘Restore’ button to restore my purchase but it’s not there. I’m rather frustrated and really trying to get this resolved! The app is a great accessory for IG and I’d like to get this resolved!

this is so stupid. Once you type your text in there’s no way to accept the text to put it onto your photo. All of the promotional videos have a green check to accept the text but the actual app does not. Therefore, the only text you can have on your photo is “double tap to edit.” There’s no way to change the font, style or anything like they advertise in their promos. This is a complete sham and will be until it is fixed to be what it actually advertises.

Great in many ways, limited in others. Super great if you need a quick clip fast with text over it. Really nice functionality, quick and easy and mostly user-intuitive. One thing I’d like (maybe it’s there and I just haven’t discovered it?) is the ability to have multiple animations per video. As it is, you only get to say one thing. Can’t get out a complete message in chunks in the same video.

Why the filter??. I like this app! However, I really don't like that it automatically applies filter over your photo and you can't un-do it!!! I'm a professional photographer and spend a lot of time editing photos and then this app applies filter over my photo automatically! Not cool! Please change it otherwise I can't use it this app! :(
