Great concept but controls are lacking. I love the concept and story of the game, but the poor choice of character control leaves me feeling frustrated. At the moment, the player need to hover their fingers over their character constantly (which also blocks vision of the screen) to control movement and to cast spells, and while multiple enemies are in the character’s direct vicinity, this is often impossible due to having your tapping control movement and casting spells leading to constant mishaps that would be easily solved by implementing a left corner joystick-like control and easy click-to-use spells on the right hand side. If people really do enjoy using the current controls (which I assume is the minority) please make it a toggle so that the game can actually be playable without constant frustrations due to the lack of precision of current controls.

Need more stars to rate this game properly. Hands down this game is worth every cent. My only complaint is I want more. I'm at lvl 104 and completed %95 of the game. All that's left is to grind to max magic and weapons. The story is cute and clever. I didn't have to farm to progress the main quests which is great! But I wish there was more higher level quests to do when your finished the main quests. I hope there's more coming out because this game leaves u wanting more. Or even a number 2. I would buy that also. Keep up the great quality work!

Terrible buggy controls. I’m enjoying this game quite a bit except for the awful controls/UI design. Tap to move a short distance to the west, and your cat sets out for some point so far off in the northeast that you can’t even see it (and this happens not occasionally, but continually). Tap to move southwest and your inventory opens, or the game inexplicably “pawses” (I do love all the kitty-related vocabulary in this game, however frustrating I find the controls to be). Tap and hold to bring up your spell circle and die because bad guys can still hit you when all action *should* be paused. Tap and hold to bring up your spell circle and die because your spell circle never comes up because your cat is busy trying to run so far to the northeast that you can’t even see where he’s running to. Et cetera. Fun quest-going with a very cute premise that plays right into my native cat-fanaticism, but with incredibly aggravating controls that need a LOT of work yet.

Best mobile game ever IMHO. I can't say enough good things about CatQuest. First, the design and artwork are wonderful. The storyline is funny and clever without taking itself too seriously. The game functionality is Flawless. No crashes or lags of any kind. Last, it's incredibly complex for an RPG about cats. Lots of worlds to discover. I'm completely done with the game (explored all caves, completed all quests, etc) and I'm longing for more. I hope for an update release soon!

Creative, fun and no in app purchases!. I’m a longtime fan of RPG games in the classic Zelda style. I’ve also been looking for more games that could be played endlessly without being slammed with in app purchases. This one hit all the marks. It is creative both in characters and story and a lot of fun to play. I would to see some more complex quests or mini games as well as the ability to pan across the map in zoom mode but overall everyone I’ve recommend this too has enjoyed it and I hope development continues. Looking forward to updates or perhaps a dog quest sequel!

Amazing. I really love this game and truly recommend it. It has fun gameplay, lots of content, and a great story twist. There are some thing I would like to add and say. I have fully complete the game and I would like to say that I really want more story. The little post-main story quests were nice, but more would be awesome. The lupus empire (dogs) were mentioned a lot, but there has yet to be any sight of them. Also “pirate mice” and bears were mentioned by the watch towers. Another thing I would add is more to do with flight. There is SO much stuff to do with water walking, but only 2 things with flight (which are useless). Airborne enemies would be cool, and would make flight less over powered. I also would like to see a spell that can be used only on water ( found on an island), and a spell that can only be used in the air (found near Windmew city) Well, that’s all! I love this game and I have spent so long playing it. ( P.S. if you want the golden key, here’s what to do. Go to the boat wreak where you start the game. Read what the boat says. Than, water walk south till you see an island. This island is a reference to the Gentlebros. Do the quest and you will get the key at the end.) See ya later!😺

Ok so... WOW! I can’t believe what I’m seeing! Just WOW! I really can’t believe it! The gentlebros equipment piece is NOT the best thing in the game! Old master set is good but the gentletux (I call it that) is made by the FRICKEN DEVS OF THE GAME you’d think it would be the best equipment in the game but NO it was the old master set! Also really!? 99 damage mana and health once it reaches lvl 99!? Really? You guys are the devs! It’s stats should be: 9999 attack health AND mana and you can only get the gentletux in a lvl 200 quest! Try that once In a while and for gods sake make a gentle bros set we all wanna see how AWSOME it will look and this is the last time I’m gonna leave a review on this game.

Purrfect catnip for mew and your kittens. One thing I look for in an iOS game is whether or not it was designed for tablets. This certainly is. You won’t be frustrated with interaction points that are too small for human fingers. You won’t have to worry about on screen buttons. Quests are fast and saves are frequent, perfect for a mobile platform. Content-wise, Cat Quest is currently entertaining an adult, but any child old enough to read simple dialogue should find something to enjoy. I can’t not recommend this to everyone. It’s just a lot of fun, and it oozes fun at every seam.

Two Thumbs Up. Honestly this game is great for what it is, and it’s also very upfront about what it is. If you’re looking for a massive, plot-heavy, character-intense, dark RPG, this is not the game for you. You also should have known that from the title and the stupidly adorable main character, so that’s frankly on you. If you’re looking for a fun, surprisingly detailed, genuinely enjoyable, startlingly bug free app you can relax on, then this is the game for you. Kudos to the devs, the details are great and the dialogue is silly enough to be cute without becoming annoying. I do wish that there were some customization options with the gear or more loot, but that doesn’t stop it from being totally fun to play. Totally worth the money!

So much fun!. I really enjoy this game, and have beat it quite a few times. I don’t really have anything bad to say other than I think the meow-difiers are almost too hard. I was able to beat the game with nine lives, but I’ve had zero luck with any of the other options. Curious if anyone has beat the game with 2-3 meow-differs...? Other than that, crazy fun game to keep me entertained on long plane flights. I would totally vouch for a Cat Quest 2. Take my money!

Good game. I would consider this game a casual rpg. And for that i enjoyed it. The visuals are appealing and the gameplay is fun. I did look for more story though as it gave me a very basic guideline to work for. The time and effort put into detail is highly appreciated with all if the quest having its own mini story and items you can find. Pulling the cat around with my finger wasnt the most comfortable experience but it didnt break the game for me. Everything about the game was for the most part enjoyable. Im glad they had arrows pointing in the direction of the quest simply because the map only shows close surroundings. With all that being said I say its a good game to play worth buying.

It’s good but.... I want to start this by saying I loved this game. I would play it so much since it’s so addicting and unique also I love cats. If this ends here I would rate 5/5 but one day I was playing when the screen went black and exited me out. So I loaded it back up and it started me over. I honestly cried and deleted this app. Now 3 months later I’m going back to try it. I hope I can get back to where I was. I think i had just killed one of the 3 major dragons and was going to some guy to learn a water spell or something. I recommend this game to anyone since it’s awesome and I loved it now I hope I can have as much fun as when I started.

A simplified western RPG with a lot of style :). I should really mention, this game crashes my iPad 4 right after the opening cartoon. But on iPad Air 1 it works great ... By simplified I mean it takes place only in one map screen and single-screen dungeons, but that’s actually a pretty slick design choice. Its battling is strategic but not overly complex, and it has enough sidequests to keep a person interested a while. I enjoy the sidequests’ stories. And the writers work in a lot of cat puns. :)

Definitely worth the price!. This has been by far one of the best game I’ve played. Such a fun game to pass the time I’ve played I’ve played it non stop since purchased, and even though story is beat, I’m still in there doing all the rest of the dungeons trying to be able to do the higher leveled ones, also would even buy it again when It comes out on switch. Really hope they add more to the game because i can’t get enough, and it’s pretty challenging too which is definitely a reason to keep playing! Hands down awesome gameplay and art style, keep it up guys! 10/10!!

Amazing!. With a great story and even greater combat, Cat Quest is the best quest game ever! One of the best things about this game how how there is still more to do even if you have defeated the last dragon. Maybe you want to know how to open golden chests, or you haven’t done all the quests. The armor, helmet, and weapon rating system is also great! There are three things: health, damage, and mana. You have to find a perfect balance between the three with all the different sets. In short, Cat Quest is an amazing game.

The Purrrfect RPG. I don’t typically leave reviews for games, but I felt compelled to leave one for this game. Everything about the game is just so well done, from the animation to the music to the punny dialogue. The best feature is I can truly play this game with 1 finger. You would think that a control system which utilizes just 1 finger would be limiting yet it does not feel like I lose anything in terms of flexibility in the real time battle strategies and in execution.

Amazing.. This was by far the most fun mobile game I ever had. Controls were easy, kinda wish we had a joy stick and button though but it was manageable. Story was amusing but interesting, only complaint I have is you need a subscription to play the second game! I don’t like subscribing to things, but if we were able to buy the Cat Quest 2 just once and keep it, I’d be very happy since I’d be able to see what happens next without worrying about future payments.

Adorable but controls could be better. Like what they did with the game but not having skill buttons bothers me greatly. Imagine crashlands controls which are awesome with having to time moves to dodge stuff then throw in a slow to react press and hold to do magic that also happens to require me to stand next to mobs for some spells and you might see the issue. I need to be able to focus on dodging the bad not praying the press and hold happens fast and responsive enough that I'll be able to dodge the bad after. Can only equip 4 spells so how hard would it be to give a setting to add 4 buttons to the ui. I couldn't even find a settings screen so forgive me if I missed it.. Despite this, it's hard to rate the game less than 4 stars cause it is still great for what it is.

It’s a good game but........ To be completely honest this game is good but in my honest opinion there is so much things that could make this game better. For example, you can accept the quest and be able to carry more quests, and either change quests from a quest list. Also if you have a map then shouldn’t you add a feature to zoom into the map then having us squint our eyes to see if there is a quest board. If those are added then everything in this game would come together and be perfect. But it’s up to you whether you change them or not.

Right up my alley (cat)!. Such a clever and well polished game. I think the developers had as much fun coming up with all the cat puns as they did the exciting and engaging story. The side quests were all spunky and enjoyable, the world was very well laid out with increasing difficulty as you headed north, causing you to pause and enjoy getting stronger in each location before rushing headlong into the next area. I loved the diversity of equipment and powers and really found a simple pleasure in the attack/retreat pattern of fighting enemies. I loved all the secrets and mysteries hidden throughout the land and once (no spoilers here) a certain ability was unlocked, I couldn’t wait to search the whole world to its fullest. Great job guys, I enjoyed the game very much! P.S. I’m so sad to see you added Cat Quest 2 to the Apple Arcade roster which means I will never get to enjoy it due to my refusal to sign up for a membership to play games occasionally on my phone. I don’t believe in subscriptions and I think it’s a terrible idea. I would love to pay a flat price and enjoy your sequel, but as it stands I guess number one will have to live forever in my memory as the pleasant and only Cat Quest to me.

Loved it!!!. The reason I purchased this game was the cats. But I found I actually loved the game. I finished the main quest line. It is fun and time consuming. I bought the game and never had one ad, request to buy gold, or stupid pop ups. The story line was cute, the dialogue is amusing and fun. My only complaint is the amount of quests available for higher levels. I hate dungeon farming, and killing animals to to grind levels. But the progression to finish the main story line was smooth and there was no need to kill things for XP. It was completely worth the money, and very fun to play. But I can only give 4 starts BC the lack of quests at the higher levels.

Good game. First, thank you for making this game. It’s really fun and I’m enjoying it! Question: Where does one go to acquire the keys for the treasure chests in the dungeons? If they are for purchase, where is the link to the game’s store? Suggestion: I’d like to be able to have more than enough quest active at a time. Perhaps an improvement on the quest tracking list would be helpful. Similar to mmorpg lists, maybe? Comment: I found it fun to have an open world, but easy to miss quests. It appears certain quests only show up on certain bulletin boards. I’m a wanderer, so I missed many lowbie quests initially. Assessment: really fun game, amusing sound effects / cat noises, funny dialogue. (I’m going to use cat swear words from now on!). Fun quests and dungeons. Its family friendly, too. Fun story, easy so far, wonky spell casting. I gave the game 5 stars based on my enjoyment. I was tempted to give 4 stars due to awkward controls for casting spells, but it didn’t have a substantial effect on my enjoyment. Pretty easy combat if you stick to content at or below your level. Even so, there are some tough mobs. In general, kiting gets me through everything. As you get the top gear, you can handle content well beyond level. About to start new game Plus.

Great game, worth the full price. Cat Quest is a cute and charming RPG, if a little bit casual. My only complaints being the controls (I’d prefer it without auto attacking, and casting spells can be tricky), and that leveling up only gives basic stat boosts, nothing else of importance. Still, the RPG elements are good enough, with lots of different equipment and upgradable spells. I got the game when it was free, but this is one of the better paid games on the AppStore. Had I played a free trial first, I would’ve gladly paid full price.

Dont be fooled by the polished appearance .... The game cant really stand on its own ... its not engaging enough to hold your full attention - its more of a mindless game you would play while watching a movie or on a long car ride. Customization is key for a good RPG game and this game offers very little. You get stronger gear from chests & quests, basically you'll get 3 sets - tank, mage or DPS. There is no kind of enhancement or crafting system. Skills are boring too - you pay gold to increase their damage aaaand that's it. I'd say this game would be good for ages 13 and under ... older and you probably wont be too impressed. Due to its simplicity, i believe a 5 year old could easily beat this game. I would say i got my 5 bucks worth as far as the amount of time ive sunk into the game. The 3-star rating is because it's not a great match for me personally, but I would recommend it for casual players and a younger audience. It is a well polished game, my experience has been bug-free and never had even a single crash. There is a foundation here for a 5-star game - as it is, it is generic, lacking in features and any kind of originality to make it a memorable experience. Hoping the developers will give this game a bit more love.

Wow!. Such an amazing game! As a crazy cat lady, I have found only a few cat games so far that I find appealing. This game seems to top them all! It is absolutely adorable with its cute cat language and feisty little kitties. I am awed with its astounding graphics. I find myself intrigued with the mysterious storyline as I continue. I am a frequent gamer, so I am very excited to see that there are many lvls to complete. Also, just the fact that I am a wizard/warrior AND a cat at the same time is so amazing. I feel fierce and I'm having a dandy ol time. I have only reached level 15 so far and already give this game a huge thumbs up. Thank you Cat Quest creators! You have matched my soul with the purrfect game.

Awesome. I love how simple the controls are for this game on my phone. Theres not a lot of tutorials in the beginning so your able to just jump in and start having a blast. You get your pieces of armor to equip, each with different stats and i love how my cat hero changes in appearance with each item that’s equipped. Side quests are on the message boards but i find that i keep getting swept up in attacking enemies and exploring the world map instead of focusing on my side quests, lol. Great job from the developers!

An Entertaining Time Sink. The story is a boring Chosen One story with no particular nuance to engage. The game even points out that the villain is utterly generic. It’s really unnecessary too; the story needs to be nothing more than the player character exploring this huge, exciting world and solving problems. The combat is very fun. A push-and-pull system akin to Doom (2016). The one problem is the magic controls. You have to tap and flick a circle around your character to pull up the spell menu. This means your finger is going to block your view, leaving you fighting blind. Plus your character is moving almost constantly, making it difficult to consistently pull up the magic menu. As a result, magic is slow and clunky to use, even though I think it works well with the game’s movement combat. I like the format of powering up though exploring the world to take on a boss with no clear level barrier. It’s a progression structure that works great with the expansive world map. I wish there was a fast travel though. The map is huge and traveling south is extremely slow compared to traveling any other direction because of the skewed perspective. Unfortunately, the game’s quest system is designed to exclude any critical thinking beyond following a point on the map. The player is never forced to engage with the world, to memorize where towns are located; to engage with the NPCs; to solve the mysteries present in the game’s many side quests; and more.

A Mewview.... There are very few mobile games that can paw me in. This of course, being one of them. The work put into this title is outstanding! This game has given me inspiration for a game development project that I have been working on for a while now. I have not finished this game yet, but it is my intention to do so. Cat Quest is full of little cat puns, great humor and so much more! Thank you for this neat game! I highly recommend anyone considering to play this game to give it a shot! It’s worth it!

Cat Quest. I am an all time cat lover. ALL. TIME. I also love RPGs so this game was perfect for me. I LOVE it. SPOILERS AHEAD I found the hidden golden key. I did all the side quests. And I found the most powerful and hidden item in the whole game. Willpower. This is the greatest game I have ever played in my life. I will continue to contribute to the community and try to spread word as far as possible. P.S Please make the dog sequel/DLC for the phone! Either that or make a prequel explaining the backstory where you play as your characters ancestor. And your companion can be spirrys grandfather!

Great Game!. I think this game was really fun and enjoyable overall. I love the graphics and the storyline. My only complaint is for some sort of continuation after the main quest is totally completed and the side quests are all done. I found myself in this situation and had really no other motivation to keep playing. Also some more insight into the Old Masters and the dogs would be nice. Other than this, it is an awesome game to play and kept me addicted for days!

Great quarantine game!. Been playing for three days now and I’m impressed with the gameplay. Everything from the easy controls to the many options to choose from. Taking time to level up, doing missions, exploring caves...I can play for hours at a time. My ONLY complaint is a small one. But I would love to be able to scroll and zoom while looking at the extended map. Other than that, I’m very glad I came across this game and you will be too!

Every penny put to use. Fantastic main story, lots of side quests and activities to keep you interested, and fantastic animations. The simple controls and mechanics combined with a fantastic leveling system make it a fun game for any player! The game can go quickly if you try to grind it out, but it makes any commute interesting, and with a “mew game” (or “mew game+” can’t remember) I know there is more to this game I haven’t found yet! I’m very excited to discover everything this game hides. WARNING!!! The cannon universe is extremely interesting and may cause addiction (;

Adorable and Fun. What a great game! Adorable graphics, a cheesy and cliche but hilariously self-aware story full of fun jokes and cat puns, entertaining combat and quests, and enough content to make the game last quite a while. And the best thing: No in-app purchases! This is easily one of the best RPGs I've played on iOS. The only thing that could make it better is character customization, which is a staple in most RPGs and I'm surprised this game doesn't have it. Even without that feature, this game is still well worth the download.

The Perfect Phone RPG. This could possibly be the perfect game (for me). I was searching for something that I could play when I wanted a game that was easy to pick up and put down, but I didn’t want the full console experience. Well, I got both. This perfectly executed RPG fits and works perfectly with the touch screen of a phone, but has the epic story, gameplay, and level/equipment system that feels very reminiscent of the Zelda games on Nintendo DS. It’s no surprise that I recently saw Cat Quest for sale on PS4. It’s on that level. Could there be more quests and content? Sure, but with a great game like this, I wouldn’t be surprised to see tons of updates and even a sequel.

Great Game! But one thing....... This is an awesome game! It has a interesting story line, and good side quests! The only "Problem" is that the side quest " Rouge Mage(s) " is practically impossible. The beginning is easy, but then when you get to the second mage it gets hard. Your practically dead, and mages don't have to hit and they use magic like we do. I know they made the magic but still. I'm almost level 25 and I can't do it. That is the only thing I'd dislike about this game. Though it is a great game. It is so worth the money!!!

CAT QUEST. What can I say? This game is awesome, on top of awesome! I have literally played through this game ten COMPLETE times. Each time I'm struck by the attention to detail, the wonderful music, and the excellent controls. The story is nicely played out. The quests are very plentiful. The weapon and clothing options are of a nice variety. I've read some quibbles about no dodge/roll function and the circle for spells being too small, but I disagree. A dodge/roll function would make the game too easy. As for the circle for spells being too small, I find it more than adequate. Gentlebros have really poured a TON of work and love into this game, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. This is IOS gaming at it's best! I TRULY hope they have plans for a sequel. I for one would have no problem forking over another $4.99 for a sequel. Thank you Gentlebros for a job WELL DONE! Looking forward to future Cat Quest endeavors with much anticipation!

When you go into the area to see your weapons, armor and spells you tap on the icon in the bottom left. Then to exit you click on an icon in the upper left. I would love for the exit icon to —always— be in the same place as the icon to get into anything. I would like more control of how far I zoom out. And I would like to be able to tap somewhere and have kitty cat start walking to that place with the zoom zooming back in on where the cat is. Also on zooming. I would love to be able to tap with two fingers anytime I’m zoomed out and have it zoom back in for me instead of tapping on an icon. You can add it as part of the training at one of the monuments. Either tap on the icon or double-tab anywhere to unzoom. Or even double-tap to zoom out and then double-tap to zoom back in. Oh, and I would love to be able to put my own X somewhere. I could then tap on that X later with a note about that place. Like that place where you walk through the water to the chest that is off screen? Not everyone will remember where that is after you finally find the key. I’ve spent a few hours playing the game and been all over and haven’t found the key yet. I would also like to be able tap on the stats for each item so that it can tell me exactly what it refers to. Like 6/6 = six of what and six of what?

Best phone RPG game that I've ever played. Cat Quest has set the standard high for a single player RPG game, for a couple of key reasons. 1. The open world sandbox setting of this game is unbeatable. It's amazing to me that only the dungeons are instanced. Being able to walk on water really adds to this too. 2. The combat is simple yet elegant. Controls are easy to learn, and you aren't bogged down with an abundance of buttons. At the same time, defeating mobs still requires the clever kiting of a PC game. Battles are at times actually challenging, and keeps you on edge. 3. The equipment system is fantastic. Not only is it diverse, but the ability to upgrade old equipment means that all equipment that you get, starting from an early level, is fair game for later use. Equipment is balanced in terms of stats and penalties. Finally, the graphics and occasional meows are adorable in this creative cat world, and the presence of Easter eggs keeps you well entertained past the main story line. My biggest complaint is in the lack of mob variety. It could do better by providing more custom mobs, as opposed to ones that look the same but only increase in difficulty. I look forward to more games released of this kind.

Add regular touchscreen joystick and button controls. I love Cat Quest 1 & 2 and have triple dipped buying them on Steam, Switch, and iOS. My go to platform is switch only because I can’t deal with the drag to move controls on iOS. I think these games are great on mobile and really showcase that the App Store does have good games. Unfortunately it’s hard to recommend because of the weird control scheme. Having controller support is awesome but I don’t always carry my controller with me. These are the perfect games to play when out and about in regular life since I don’t usually carry my switch with me everywhere I go but I do always have my phone. Please add a regular touchscreen joystick and buttons controls in addition to the drag to move. Having more options is always better. Thank you for making such great games.

No Way. I didn’t think that there would ever be a game like this! It has cats, magic, and dragons. What more could you want? Actually, there is something more I want. I think that the player should be able to choose their gender at the start of the game and get to customize themself too. I don’t really like that I have to be a brown supposedly male cat that whole game. But I think so far that this is my only complaint. Oh wait, there’s one more. But I think it’s too late for this. I do question why the game creators chose to call the dragon slayers “dragon blood”. Because it sounds more like we’re more related to dragons than enemies. Other than that this game has a great story line so far. Keep making more games like this

Engaging. Even though this game is very simple, I find myself engaged and constantly wanting to proceed. There aren’t many rpg games (not even 1 that I’ve found) that are good. They always have ads or crash constantly. This game is different. The cat puns are hilarious! It’s even more awesome that I can run this good of a looking game on my outdated phone (iPhone 5s). No lag at all! I’m really glad this game exists. Even though I’m level 30 in the game, I feel there is a ton more gameplay to explore. Thanks so much for the game! Hey

This Game is Pretty Good. Being a person who likes adventure and RPG games, I really like this game. I’ve beaten the main story line twice before, and I’m still having a bit of fun! But, there are a few flaws. For example, after completing the main story line and completing side quests, there are still ridiculously hard side quests to do that recommend a high level. Also, for me and others that play this, I would like a bit more post-game material. I know you guys already made a really big effort into making side quests and secrets! (Like the really bad armor in the bush and the Secret Founders Island). I love this game and hope it improves in further updates. If you are reading this, thank you, Gentlebros. You’ve basically made the perfect game for me and I hope you guys keep up the great work! Bye!

Best Game on IOS!. I was wasn’t sure I would like it as much as i do. This is how games should be developed for phones. Just like they would for pc or console, but with control adjustment for phone/tablets. This game is sooo much fun. I had to look for more games by Gentlebros but they only have one more , slashy hero and it is sadly created with in app gem purchases. Why??? Why would you do this to us. I still want t play it and i am sure it’s great, but I can’t stand the p2w games where i have to keep spending money on it. Cat Quest is great and priced well. I would even pay more for it, it is wonderful to pay once and just play, especially for a game as great as this one. Don’t get greedy with in-app purchases on more future games please. There is too many of those already.

Need better controls. The game itself is good. Storyline is ok. But the main reason it’s only 4 stars is because of the controls. It’s hard to play the game without messing us since one feature in the game is the spells. To use spells in combat u have to click and hold your character. The movement system is tap to move. They conflict with each other so sometimes when I click and try to use spells, it moves me into the enemies and kills me. I suggest a button on the side to use spells or different movement controls.

Excellent game. A great action adventure RPG, something which is extremely rare on mobile. Very well done. The biggest weaknesses in this game are gear-related. Gear acquisition is sheer dumn luck. I didn’t choose my preferred style of gameplay. Instead, I happened to roll good melee gear so I had to play melee. I basically facerolled the first half of the game. Nobody’s going to let their good gear sit in their inventory and wear the crappy gear they wish the RNG gods had leveled up first. So, character progression was really out of my hands. The lack of any ranged weaponry is a gaping hole. You’ve got ranger gear with high health, no armor, no magic. Perfect for an archer. I kept wondering when a bow would show up. Nope. I don’t have the Courage to talk about the other gear problem, but I have Faith that it’s the elephant in the room, and it will take some Willpower for the devs to fix it. Overall, a superb game. More like this, please.

PURRFECT but has small problems. I am done with the game and I love it! But I don't like that the golden key quest is so hard it says level one in level one cave but is like level 100. Finally completed it and have like 1 health. And when a monsters after you you can't catnap or enter caves. I also would like more slots for powers so you don't have to go into your inventory while fighting to switch powers. You also have more inventory than you need for powers wish you could get more. Still I love this game!!!! Is very cute🐱

Eh. I played cat quest 2 first and then I found this. I EXPECTED IT TO TAKE LONGER TO COMPLETE!!! I understand this is the first game, and that you’re possibly creating a third game, so ok, but really? You should DEFINITELY add an expansion pack. It would be awesome. Also, everyone says this and I agree, THE ICE DRAGON Is almost as strong as Drakoth. Super annoying. Also, at the start of the game EVERYTHING can one-shot you. Level 6 and 7? Level 5 Alpha Ruins gets ya every time. When you beat the game it’s impossible to level up! BUT, the level 60 quest with the Santa cats-AARGH!!!!! I am literally on level 90 something! AND I completed the level 99 dragon quest! On level 60-something! Fix please! But otherwise 👍thumbs up! Ps. Could you make it have another kingdom? A secret kingdom! Underwater, or in a jungle, or hidden with an illusion, or on a cloud, or, or... I don’t know, but I know it’s gonna be great. And it better be! (Also, could you perhaps REVIVE Drakoth? Maybe he could be a playable character! That would rule! Bye!

Solid. I don't usually like writing reviews, and I tend to avoid them, but this game deserves it more than any I’ve ever played. I play a lot of mobile games and this is hands down my favorite of all time. The great gameplay, smooth and beautiful design, and all the little things that the creators added just show the love and care that was put into this game. I would not hesitate to buy any game that the gentlebros put out because of this game. Good job and mad respect to you guys.

A love letter from a cat lover!. An addicting and adorable rpg. I love cats and I love adventure so this was purrrrfect. I love all of the beautiful art and humor that went into this game. The names of the towns and caves were funny as they all had something to do with cats for the most part. You can either breeze through the game or grind to complete all of the mission. To the developers, id love to see more characters, equipment and weapons that affect enemies with the opposite element used. Some other weapons types would be fun to switch it up. Just amazing. This is my first review for a game. The devs did such a great job on this one. Controls: Intuitive, and easy to use (I have an iPhone SE so this is the sort of thing that's important) Spell casting is easy and overall satisfying. Most importantly, it's in real-time!! You don't need to wait for your turn or whatever (I hate games that do this) Story: Interesting, kept me wrapped up in my phone for a good couple days :) Good mix of intensity and humour. Dialogue was also great. All the side quests have their own storyline which all have great satisfying endings :) (there's so many to do! :D) main story line also has a really great, surprising ending that I wouldn't want to ruin for you! Map: this was one of my favourite features of this game. There's an amazing open-world map, littered with hidden items and dungeons and other various things to explore. I am still occupied (even after finishing the main story) with exploring every nook and cranny of this map. So much fun to find all the little Easter eggs! I don't think a review can really put into words how good this game is, but if you're considering buying it, please give it a shot. It's worth every cent that I spent. Thanks devs! -A happy gamer

I definitely doubt that, this is the best RPG game I have played on mobile and it is totally worth the price the controls are simple and the story is great I love all the story quests that you can do if you don’t want to do the main at the time. I love all the characters in the quests from the odd twin village to the mighty king so if you are considering buying this then go ahead!

Best game ever!. This game is the only non-multiplayer game I have had for a month! In two days, I was already up to level 52. It is a little repetitive after a while, though. It would be nice if you could make the map bigger with more caves, since I have already completed all of them in a month. Even the SUPER HARD chest cave on Founder’s island. And Lonely cave. So it would be nice if you put an update! I also got this app when it was free for a limited time. It was the best decision I probably ever made in my life. I was stuck at level 50 - 60 for a while, since I couldn’t do any of the level 60 side quests. I had to fight hedgehogs and bats and fire foxes and pearl skulls and mini dragons (that I forgot the name of) and even more. If anybody that is NOT the developer is reading this, then I just wanted to say that it is a really good game.

My favourite game now. So, for the short time I’ve been playing this, it’s now my favourite game. The trolls, puns, combat; its just awesome. I’ve completed the game and did all the quests, got the best armour and weapons and I’m still playing it. The combat is very addictive and there’s different classes, too. I would definitely recommend it, but if your someone that plays games all night and day, you’ll probably find it quite short. I know this was a game made by very few people, and cat quest 2 is available, but the game should’ve been just a bit longer. The whole time during the story, your just farming caves and doing quests while the dragons are just there, waiting to be slain. I mean, the quest are fun, and the caves are cool, but the fact that the story is a bit short is the only flaw. Also, I got this game free during the limited time free download event, and it’s probably the highlight of the month for me. There’s so much more I want to say about this game, but the review would be way too long. So much fun!!! Excellent game!!!. This game is so much fun. My sons (7 & 9) and I play this together. They love the whimsical characters and the elaborate world that they can explore. It’s so easy to save and explore a new storyline if they get stuck at a tricky boss. They loved it when they reached the level where the cat would flap his tiny arms and fly around. No ads and the story is safe for kids. They have already started their campaign to play Cat Quest 2 ;)

Love this game, one problem.. In my opinion I really loved this game when I played it on my switch, this version however, the tap movement and fighting is horrible, and takes away a lot from the game. Play with a controller, makes it way better.

WORTH PLAYING. Definitely a game I can recommend anyone who is into action RPG games. Controls feel fluent and easy to master, and so is the progression of the game. You will be immediately addicted and hooked into the game after the first quest, however sadly you’ll come to realize after spending 7-10 hours you would have fully completed the game. It’s fun and addicting, has an interesting story, great controls, but sadly a short game.

No controller support. The game looks super cool in all fronts except if you want to play it with a controller. Unfortunately, you can only control the character touching the screen, which is a little uncomfortable for playing it on iPad. I was hoping it had controller support since the game is also available on PlayStation, which I guess you do can use the controller in that platform.

It’s cute!. It would be nice if the movement was more intuitive, instead of b-lining the cat could maybe go around obstacles. It would also be nice if you could zoom in and out on the main playing screen and the full map with a pinch. The magic system is not so good, frustrating to use. Should just be buttons on the side. Needs more better equipment. If these issues are resolved, more stars and I may even buy it for the Switch. (I’m hoping the Switch version will have more content, equipment, side quests and less flat out repetition.) Went to 1 star because it looks like the developer doesn’t care at all.

Needs Controller Support. Absolutely loved this game on my friends switch. Thinking since it was on consoles it must have controller I got my own copy, but was totally disappointed with the touch controls. With controller support this game is amazing. On touch screens it’s not nearly as fun, but for touch screen it’s not bad.

Purrfection. I had been looking at this for a long time, but I didn’t have any money to buy it— so when I saw it was available for free for a little while, I jumped at the chance. A lot of apps on the App Store can be disappointing, even if you pay for them— I know there’s been many I regretted buying. But this is not one of those. This game has everything I could ever hope for in a game. Cats, magic, magic cats, combat and compelling stories. Quests become a treat to do, rather than just for leveling up, because the story behind each quest draws you in. I haven’t finished the game yet, but even though I downloaded it yesterday I’m close to the ending— it’s just that addicting. But it’s also at the point I start to get sad the game is over, and since I don’t have Apple Arcade I can’t play the sequel, yet. But when I have the chance, I think I’ll definitely try the sequel. It’s also a refreshing change that every quest I can think of focuses on family rather than romance. From rescuing your sister, to helping other cats with their own siblings. I’d definitely recommend this app to anyone who wants a genuinely fun app, with quite a bit to do.

Won-purr-ful. See this game is great, it’s free and fun. With many, many puns. Wish that Cat Quest II though was available through other, ways. As Apple Arcade is a bit expensive, 5.99 a month. For a casual gamer, as I am. I would like to pay the money for just the second Cat Quest instalment. If it would be available both ways then that would be absolutely purr-fect! Other than that Cat Quest is a AMAZING game and I would certainly recommend it.

Super Fun and Stylistic!. The play style is super easy to get into, the stories are adorable and the game is just really consistent! The only problem I’m having is that I have no idea how to get the keys to unlock certain chests, but I’m haven’t completed the main story line yet, but other than that I love the zoom out idea! Just buy it!. This is the cutest and most fun game I've played in ages. Can't put it down. The story is fantastic with clever dialogue. I sure hope they make more of these. I would definitely buy more games like this one.

Great casual RPG. Great gameplay and story. I feel like the main quest should be noticeably distinguished from the side quests. Cutscenes or even just a more detailed dialogue screen while on a main quest. Felt grindy at times. I'd like to be able to level up gear I want vs random rolls. Overall, it tickles that exploration and hack and slash itch while having a solid story with twists and turns!

Best game ever. This is the greatest game I’ve ever played and got me excited about cat quest 2 but the only problem is that it’s to short there’s only 4 dragons to defeat and then you have to fight the finale boss than you have to do mew game which is the same game just harder and it only took me 1 hour to defeat.

Fun and Action-Packed. By the looks of it, I could tell this was gonna be a GREAT game. And so it is. Cat Quest is an open world adventure game where you play as a golden tabby cat and must save your sister from the ‘white cat’. The quests are fun, the monsters are cool. I love it! Good job. This game is really cool! The graphics are cute and the storyline is really fun. I am a new player, but i expect to stick with this game for a long time. I wish you could customize your cat more than just their armor, like adding different fur colors, but i understand if you don’t add this feature. Sometimes, a fixed main character is a good thing. Overall, you have created a very fun and enjoyable game. Good job!

Great gameplay, rich story. This game is so good for the price. Surprisingly rich backstory with great writing and lots of funny dialogue. The gameplay isn’t precise, but it’s fun and makes leveling up really matter. There is strategy to fighting certain monsters and which items you choose makes a perfect difference. It’s not Baldur’s Gate, obviously, but there are hours of fun here for the casual RPGer on a mobile device. Can’t wait for the dogs in the sequel!

Loved it!. Just finished this game and all the side quests. It took a dedicated 3 days. Yes it’s a little short for an RPG and was somewhat easy but the graphics were spot on, the controls perfectly responsive. Loved the little cat phrases. Not as good as Oceanhorn but still worth the money and worth 5 stars. Would love a second version if it was done the same way.

Absolutely puuuurfect!!! :D. Awesome old fashioned role playing game wrapped in novel graphics. Although, technically not role playing as you are both “caster/mage” and “warrior/fighter” and you swap between the two based on mob encountered as well as gear. It’s great for being a mobile RPG, quests are short (2-3 min) and you can save in one of the numerous towns.

Best hack n slash rpg. Downloaded and literally played through the night without sleeping. Beat the main quest line at lvl64. Still lvl200 dungeon?!? Needs more quests after that. They are few and far between. Only lvl 75 now but not motivated to go to lvl200 due to lack of quests Edit: after update introduced 2 new game modes, replay value went up tenfold. Now i really cant complain about anything =p

Great game. I played the game because I love all things adventurey and the game is amazing they got all the side quest you can do before even touching the main quest which is always fun they have dungeons with secrets and they actually make you work in the fights. The game puts your timing and reaction speed to the test. All in all 10/10

Love it but.... I love this game! However, I am level 83 and nothing to do. I beat every quest and every dungeon my level. I hope the developers add more to this game. It truly has so much potential to become bigger than it is. I hope they add more story to the dogs and who comes out of the portal thing at the end of the main quest. I just love this game so much I wish there was more to do...

Fantastic overall! (A couple minor gripes). Love the style, pace, and feel of this game. Only a couple things that I’m not too fond of. The tap movement puts my fingers in front of the hero most of the time. An option for a virtual stick might be nice. There seems to be no major punishment for dying. You just go back to the last save point or the beginning of the mission and don’t lose any experience or items you collected between saves. It’s sort of like a GTA death but without the losing money and weapons. It makes the risk feel a little lame. Otherwise great job guys! I love seeing a full and complete game that you pay for once and get to enjoy, amongst the barren wasteland of freemium trash.

2 is better but still fun. I like the second better but ya it’s a great game. Also to whoever said that they believe a 5 year old could easily beat this game, I had a 5 year old play this game and the second and they had absolutely no idea what to do. Don’t care if they were joking, still false.

Fun and simplistic game. The game is a fun little simplistic game. It’s nice to have an easy going game where there is no timers that slows down your progress and you can play it in short burst. I would really rate it about 3.5 stars if I could because at times it’s almost too simplistic and repetitive. There’s a couple of basic sets of equipment that gets upgraded and a handful of spells. You will be bored of the mechanics before you even get half of the spells.

Very good!. Cat Quest has an awesome story, fun gameplay, good mechanics, and cat puns! The story will wrap you up in the game and the gameplay will start to make you want to play more! This is an awesome game, i like the 4th wall breaks, the way to get the golden key, the puns, etc. the clever ways words are altered are very funny and silly, like “pawsome!” And “gotcatit” really set the mood. Pawsome job GentleBros!

Fun, Beautiful, Addicting. Cat Quest is a highly-addictive ARPG blending beautiful, luscious graphics with an open-world style. There are loads of towns to visit, troves of equipment to find, and hordes of baddies to vanquish. Combat is fun, responsive, and intuitive. The quaint atmosphere, myriad collectibles, and humorous dialogue keeps the player engaged throughout. Highly recommended for anyone sick of the microtransaction nonsense all the rage these days. Pros: - Highly polished gameplay, mechanics, and graphics. These developers care about their product - Engaging ARPG battle system with customizable combat and character builds - Beautiful aesthetics - Witty dialogue - Lots of secrets to find on your own - Cloud saving - New Game + and other postgame features Cons: - A little on the shorter side. But what is there is magnificent.

This game is AWESOME.. First of all, thanks to the developers who allowed the temporarily free download of this game. Now on to it, this game has the two best features of a good mobile game: a short tutorial (here’s what’s going on, let’s jump right in), AND combat gameplay that is dynamic, fast paced and just plain fun. I went from skeptically opening this game and then playing for THREE HOURS without closing the app. There are no in-app purchases, annoying ads or nagging to review. You just play! It’s amazing. (A downside: the plot line is a little superficial and hard to follow, but the game is really, really fun.)

Please Add More. I really enjoyed this amazing game especially the countless cat jokes and words. However, the fun ended too soon. I’m mainly writing or rather typing this review to ask for more fabulous adventures. The things I want are more quests and dungeons preferably more complex and challenging. But I would also like some more spells and armor sets. The thing on the top of my list though is a multiplayer mode where you can play PvP and co-op.

Zelda, but with cats.. I would love to see more OPTIONS for controls, because on the phone at least it can be uncomfortable at times. That’s not to say this still isn’t one of the best and creative games I’ve played on the phone. It’s like Zelda has the storyline from skyrim, and replaces all the people with cats instead. Some people are nervous about the price for an app but I say worth it.

I wish there was a place to check quests. I wish there was a place in the game where you could check the details of the current quest you are on, as well as a separate section in the same place that lists the quests you’ve started and where you need to go for them. I think it would be really helpful for the game.

Update so you can controllers to play on iOS?. I wanted to play this with a controller because it just seems like it would seem right. Playing on the screen makes me feel limited. I was wondering if the devs could maybe put out an update patch for iOS so I can use a controller to play with.

Almost perfect. The overall game mechanics are incredibly smooth, the graphics are beautiful, this game is truly an awesome rpg. Suggestions: Monster diversity could be better. - Adding dungeon puzzles would really enhance gameplay. I feel like that’s the one and only major flaw of this game.

Too easy. The game needs to be harder, I got to lvl 40 and i was still recieving tasks for lvl 5-30, and it was very easy. It would also be fun to design your own cat at the beginning. And I dont know how to get a key to open the big chest. The game is fun though. I also wish I had more control over the game instead of bieng told what to do all the time during quests, more options during them would be good.

Purrrrrr-fect. This was just what I was looking for: a just-casual-enough-but-still-deep-enough mobile RPG. There isn't too much level grinding required to do what you want to do, which makes the gameplay never feel like a chore. I sincerely hope there is a plan for an expansion pack of additional side quests. **Shakes fist full of dollars** Take my meow-ney!!

Solid game. Surprisingly high production quality and reasonable combat system for touchscreen, when coupled with RPG elements and constant leveling up, make this a definite “don’t-miss” type game. I admittedly got bored of the story both in the main and side quests, but this did not keep me from enjoying the game.

More improvements needed. Needs some sort of digital controller. Gets annoying having the finger covering across the screen. Walking past experience and gold should draw them in to the player from a greater distance. Otherwise a fun game.

More Quests!. As cute an fun as this is, it ends almost abruptly. The main quest is lengthy in the beginning when you first start out and need to grid to get your level up, but after that, it goes super quick. When you get water walking, the world gets huge and there’s more to explore. After flying, you use it for two things, and bam, game is done. Please add more to the main quest and maybe some less tedious side quests.

Finally!. I don't usually write reviews but I love this game so much I felt compelled to do just that. I have long awaited an iOS game which is fun, engaging, challenging and isn't just a mechanism to get me to buy virtual goods with real money. Cat Quest is all of those things. The characters are cute without being cutesy & the graphics are smooth and interesting. The game play and controls don't feel forced. It's clear that the developers too their time when considering how a user would interact with the game and what that experience would be like. Yes, this game costs money and yes, many people don't have an appetite for paying to play but this game is so worth it & and we should be supporting shops building dope games.

Really good Game. This game is somehow super duper addictive to me. I love the open world, upgrades and the other stuff. But it really could use more action, different fighting style and crafting. But don’t get me wrong I love the story and simplicity, just a bit more work could be used. DON’T CHANGE THE STORY!

Meowsome Game!. Getting used to the controls on my iPhone took a few minutes and three deaths, but the gameplay is addictive and gathering loot to get weapons/armor/spells makes it so challenging. I do hope there will be more Cat Quest games... a MMORPG version would rock! Sigh... I’m such a nerd! If you haven’t played this yet and you enjoy the action-RPG games, buy this game now! It’s worth every dime.

Exceptional Game!. I got this game for free, and after playing it, I realized I still would have payed money for it. It’s worth it! It may be just a time killer...but a creative and entertaining download! Again, exceptional game! The Gentlebros are geniuses! Please make number 2! It would also be great if you could make dash available for PC and phones alike! 👍

The best. This is the best game out this year for my iPad Pro. Wasn’t expecting it at all. Was reading some reviews and stumbled on to this a few months after it was out. What a fantastic rpg. Really hope they make a second one. Great great job to the developers. Glad I bought it when it was at full price to support this kind of work. A masterpiece.

AMAZING. This game was INSANE! The graphics were charming and the storyline was good. TONS of loot and secrets to find and explore. The only thing that I would ask is for MORE CONTENT! Once you finish the main and side quests there isn’t a whole bunch to do. The Kitmas update was amazing and we want more stuff like that!

Totally cute and engaging. This is a fun game. The story is cute and while combat system isn’t super complicated it’s meaty enough. It’s is fairly formulaic with going on questing going around the map but it’s a very good formula and very satisfying. If you’re looking for a swipe combats, run around a map finding new area while fighting monsters in dungeons while getting new gear, this is the game for you.

Fun! Hard!. I’ve never been a huge gamer, I can own some kids on MarioKart but that’s about where my skills end. I have an orange cat, so my brother sent me this and I bought it expecting to play it for a day and then forget about it but it’s been a week and I’m really enjoying it! It’s harder than I thought while still be fun!!

Infuriating spell controls, but great overall. Everything is perfectly fine with the gameplay, but the spell controls are terrible. Using a spell blocks your vision of everything going around you as you have to put your finger over the center of all the action. Please put the spell off to the side of the screen, preferably the right. Dragging controls for it is fine.

Really well made. But still awkward.. Game’s a ton of fun and a great time waster. But it can be annoying, especially travel. There is no proper “world map,” to see all locations you’ve visited, you can only see the ones around you. Forgot what corner of the map a city’s in? Good luck! You have to run around and open up the map until it happens to be within the area. So devs, please, for the love of god, add a proper world map and at least fast travel between towns.

Really easy kind of short. If the game was worth 2.99 I'd be okay with the length and the playing difficulty. One other issue I have with this game is that there's a bug that no matter what I do the sfx of the game will not disappear if I have my device connected to Bluetooth. It's a little annoying but that's about it overall it was a fun game and I was having fun until I became overpowered by level 50 the game was just too easy

Perfect for long car or plane rides or just something to do when your bored. I played this game in one sitting while on a three hour flight. It was fun enough to keep me engaged and had a quirky twist to the everyday mobile game. The best part of this game is how ITS AN ACTUAL GAME. Its not a tycoon or clash of clans rip off or clicker like every other game. Its a straight up fun game and that’s what this App Store needs more of.

This game is the cat’s meow!. When I got this game I didn’t think it would be so purrfect! It is a cute Zelda clone that is challenging yet also easy to get into. The only gripe I have is no controller support, but hey, it was made for tablets and phones so you can’t fault them for that (though a future patch to add would be appreciated).

Wonderful experience all around!. I've come to expect sub par games as a trade off for mobile platforms. Boy was I surprised with this delightful gem! The art is adorable, the music brings me back to the high adventure and exploration of classic rpgs, the writing is crisp, clever, and endlessly entertaining, and the controls are extremely smooth and downright enjoyable to use. Get. This. Game!

Awesome. Great game got it on steam on pc and now on my iOS the only thing I don’t like is that it should give you an option of controllers instead of just touch and move, but great story and great game play and graphics would love to see another game like it but a bit longer and with more options for the player
