Very good but tedious data entry. I have spent the past week trying this app compared to 3 others at the same time. They all offer similar features for analytics but I preferred this one slightly because it’s organized in an easier to read way. However, a growing frustration is turning me off completely to moving forward and that is when it comes to entering my meals. What takes me 10 seconds in the other apps takes me a couple minutes in this app because they have recommendations based on historic entries for the time of day—this is a must where people get into routines frequently repeating ingredients/recipes or meals. Even something as simple as the protein shake I drink between many meals, I completely have to start a new search to find it even though I’ve selected it 10 times last week.

Loved the app until new updates. 6/25- The issues have been fixed! I’m really happy to be able to use the app again. And more than that, it’s really great to see a responsive team that listens to new ideas and bugs and follows through. Thank you! I loved the app until the last couple of updates- it was the only app that really let me look at micronutrients, easily toggle off and on calorie counting while still tracking nutrient data, and gave me lots of trends and general data with a more accurate database. But the second to last update removed the ability to toggle calorie counting off and on by permanently adding calories to your macronutrients summary so you can’t track protein, carbs, and fat without seeing calories. That’s also the only place you can see a deficit if you have one set up now, as the general energy summary only shows overall calories now and is not intuitive at all. I did contact the team but received generic instructions for turning off calories that are no longer accurate since the update. I emailed back but haven’t had a response since. Unfortunately I think it’s time to find a new app to use and recommend to people given it looks like these changes are here to stay.

Excellent Tool to Keep Check on Your Nutrition. I am 75 yrs. old and have about 10 lbs to lose as the Coronavirus epidemic has been tough. We have been basically locked down since early March since I was fighting it off in early March. I have an excellent immune system & could tell I was fighting something it’d never fought before. It took a good month & a half before I knew I had won my battle, but was shocked that it took more than 3 mos. to get my strength back. Needless to say, with less activity & a bit of depression that I couldn’t be as active as normal—I started eating more “feel good foods”! Here came the lbs marching in. I had used Cronometer in the past to lose weight, but thought my old iPad couldn’t handle so much memory. It was slowing down, so deleted all I could on it. Wrong! I have it back on now and am slowly losing the damage done. It is very easy to use, really helps you know how much nutritious foods you are eating, and it’s free unless you want more. I’m very pleased with it & if you need support, it’s there. Excellent tool for weight loss or maintenance. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

Great app but in need of a couple fixes. I love the faster and easier use in finding ingredients in this app to list macros BUT there are three things I find annoying. 1.) At times a save doesn’t immediately save what I just added to a recipe (uber annoying!). 2.) Other times a save somehow doubles my recipe with the ingredient listings shown twice so then I have to go back and delete the duplicates. 3.) In the process of deleting these duplicates, hitting the “x” often ends up opening the ingredient screen rather than deleting the ingredient. I think the “clickable” area for the button needs to altered so there isn’t app confusion in deleting the listing rather than opening the listing. OR, change the ability to delete a listing with a swipe or a check box on the left or right in the programming end so deleting ingredients doesn’t become frustrating. Otherwise, I like that the app already calculates net carbs.

I love this app, but I have a recommendation. This app is one of my most used and most useful apps! I like it so much, I paid for the subscription and have no regrets. It has enabled me to meet each and every macro and micronutrient it tracks (and it tracks many!) saving me the cost of expensive vitamins and supplements I no longer need, because clearly see I’m getting them all throughout the day in the foods I eat. I also love and continue to learn from the “suggest a food” feature. I do have one suggestion for the app developers. Please add an import recipe function. I used a different app previously, and while the nutritional information it provided was by far more limited and less useful than this one, it provided the ability to import recipes. That’s a huge timesaver and a feature I keep wishing this app had. If you add that capability I will give this app 5 stars and you’ll have a fan for life. :)

Love the recipe import function. When my doctor told me to track calories last year to lose weight and lower my BP, I told her tracking makes me crazy and I hate it. I resisted for almost a year. I had done WW and Noom before and always found their databases inaccurate- the same item would have multiple entries with wildly different calories. I didn’t have the bandwidth to track. The worst was that I found myself not cooking because adding recipes was really hard. I hated adding each ingredient, etc. I used the free version of Cronometer occasionally and felt like the database was much better than the others. But when I saw the recipe importer, I was delighted. And more importantly it works!!! I regularly cook recipes from The NY Times and Eating Well and I can import the ingredients. What a joy!!!! Sundays I import all my recipes for the week and add them to my days. So much easier to identify what I should eat for breakfast and lunch. Great app!

A valuable tool for weight loss. My spouse and I have been using Cronometer for almost 90 days., The pounds have come off, nearly effortlessly. Yes, it's work to track everything I put in my mouth, but the app makes this process relatively easy with an ability to scan labels, and develop custom recipes for foods we enjoy regularly. And seeing where I am with my daily calorie goal makes it easier to say yes or no to a late evening snack. It is also interesting to track key nutrients, and even some of the more obscure nutrients. For those interested in improving their health, this app is a valuable resource. If you want to lose weight, this app and the information it provides in real-time, coupled with a measure of will power, really works. Coupled with a fitness tracking device like an Apple Watch, this app becomes a very powerful motivator.

Useful for keto and nutrition. I use both the app and desktop page and have found it took almost all the guess work out of the keto diet. I have found it's default guidelines to be comfortable for me, and my favorite thing is getting a close look at what I'm missing nutritionally. I suspect a few deficiencies in my diet and after tracking my habits I was sure what to supplement and what to eat more of. It's a good overall look at daily habits and trends and very very helpful for keto. I trust Dr. Mercola on many health topics so this almost feels like he's personally coaching me, because I trust that he had his developers use a well thought approach to the calculations involved with this. I have no complaints about finding product or inputting info. I don't expect perfection, it's a constantly changing market. I have been pleasantly surprised that many name brands I use are there. I find this app much more helpful and informative than my fitness pal. It's more personalized.

Perfect for my needs. This is the best macro tracking app that I’ve ever used and I’ve tried many of them. I love the Energy and Macronutrient target bars, as they are very easy to read (nice color coding and I like that they are bars and not circular graphs). I was also able to manually enter my own Calorie/Macro targets which is great. Also, having the Micronutrient breakdown is a huge bonus. The last app that I used did not have this feature and it is so helpful to be able to visualize my vitamin and mineral consumption. The search feature is amazing! The database is extremely large and I’ve had zero issues finding the foods that I’m looking for. I absolutely love the barcode scan feature. The diary is great; Having it right below the targets is really convenient and easy to read. It allows you to scroll through past days or to drag/drop foods if you need to organize your entries. Honestly, I could go on and on about all of the reasons why I love this app but what I love most is that it is simply a place where I can track my foods and it’s not full of a million unnecessary bells and whistles. This is an especially great app for those who are familiar with tracking macros and want something simple; but it is just as easy to use for someone who is just starting out. Thank you for this wonderful app, I am so glad to have found it!

Best App for Tracking Micronutrients. A lot of diet and fitness apps allow you to count calories, macros, exercise, and water, but there is no app I have used that compares to Cronometer in its ability to track micronutrients (at least in free versions). With Cronometer, you not only can track how many calories you consume each day and what your daily macronutrient distribution is, but you can see what your daily intake is of vitamins and minerals in comparison to the RDI. You can also change what micronutrients are highlighted in your daily summary, and you can even manipulate the minimum and maximum intake for each micronutrient based on your own personal needs. Also, the simple user interface really makes logging food easy and straightforward. As someone who cares not only about tracking their caloric intake, but seeing the nutrients I am getting in that intake, this app is very useful and the best I have used.

Ads are too long. This is by far the best app for tracking nutrition out there. I love the intuitive nature of it and the ability to add all my vitamins at once by creating “recipes” etc. The “favorites” section is great as well. The free version is good but the advertisements have become so long now, coupled with the fact that sometimes you can’t even figure out how to “X” out of them that I’m considering switching. Additionally, recently they changed the way that it works such that if you add a favorite and change it to a different amount, now it updates to that amount for the next time - which is really annoying. Previously, it would only update the save amount if you updated it from the menu from which you were choosing the item - which was a better way of doing things. I wish they would switch that back.

App is getting buggier with every release. Pretty explanatory. Also, I feel this is one of those concepts that was amazing in the beginning and went downhill in time. I’ve used Cronometer from its early browser days- excellent since then at what it does. Since they expanded and grew, the made poor choices along the way. Firstly, the team is downright incompetent. Customer service/ support team is probably founder’s extended family/ friends or just unqualified for the job. Absolute garbage at handling questions, feature requests. Take a look on the support forums if you don’t believe me. Downright embarrassing. Secondly, whoever is in charge of the app probably learned coding in 2 months from online tutorials- which is not bad, just not good enough to charge money for. After years of requests from basic functionality like time stamps, they finally introduced the feature a couple of years back and immediate made it paid. I walked them through 2 errors they had made, but eventually just gave up when I realized they’ll never figure out how to properly integrate their app with apple health. All in all it’s my preferred app since I loathed the big fitness tracker apps, but it’s basic database search functionality for micronutrients- the thing everyone used Cronometer for, has been there since day one. Everything else is just trash. Hopefully the founder decides to hire the right people soon, preferably talented professionals this time.

So much potential!. I’m a new user (Gold subscriber) and a WW convert. I love the emphasis on complete nutrition and the many ways to customize this tool, which I’m still learning! A couple of things that would make this app even better: 1) Give us a separate category in the Diary for Water intake (e.g. in addition to Supplements, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks) 2) The Fasting feature has a lot of room for improvement (standalone chart, reminder notifications, etc.) but a good place to start would be making the history easier to access. Currently it’s buried under four clicks: Settings/Targets/Fasting/ Fasting History. This is really cumbersome. Being a new user, I may be missing out on some tips & tricks so if anyone can educate me I’d welcome it! Also, if there is an opportunity to participate in your Beta program I’d love that! Thanks for the recent improvements and keep ‘em’ coming! EDIT: Coming back to share that I learned you can customize your Diary categories, so I added one for Water and that has worked well for me!

Amazing!. Before Chronometer I was using MyFitnessPal. For what it is I had nothing against it and it worked well over the past 3-4 years. I took a nutrition class and I was introduced to Chronometer. Man, was I missing out. Not only does this work well, but it async to the website (no refresh needed). Aside from that the customization is endless for your goals and it can sync with other devices (for myself, Dexcom Glucose Monitoring System). What is more impressive is that you can do all this with the FREE tier! You can’t do that with MyFitnessPal. You need to pay right off the bat. Here’s another things.. if you decide to use the pro version of Chronometer it’s significantly reasonable. Overall a great app! I have transitioned over and will be subscribing after my subscription with MyFitnessPal expires.

Good idea but very limited. The main reason for trying out this app is the fact that I’m trying the high fat/ ketogenic diet and this is the only app out there which I’ve found that can track net cabs directly. I live in Asia (Singapore). First, the database is extremely limited at least for those of us living in Asia. I understand that in the case of a free product you’re asking me to contribute with food, but if I’m paying for it, that should be your job to have completed already. Takeaway #1: if you live in Asia, save your money Second, the app (in its free version) really has A LOT of adds compared to, say, MyFitnessPal. Incidentally, from a pure database perspective, the free version of MyFitnessPal is A LOT more comprehensive, while it doesn’t make the app look like a add-laden website on which I wouldn’t spend 10 seconds Takeaway #2: use only if you can tolerate adds everywhere (even when you enter food!) Overall, I’m very disappointed. If the objective was to build an app to really help those who want to transition to a better diet, the developer should strike to provide a balance between value offered and level of ads used until the database is robust. Once it is, charging a fee is totally reasonable for a VERY USEFUL app. I hope there will be positive changes in the future. Thanks

Better than My Fitness Pal for tracking. So I have been using this app for several weeks. I am losing weight and I am mentally healthy with my approach. I lost a lot of weight through a food provided program in 2019- very low calorie and about $600 month in food. I am losing my pandemic weight at the same pace without deprivation, boxed or frozen food and I am eating foods that I like everyday. Here’s why? I log everything. I can create notes for each meal or just in general. It’s a bit like a journal around my eating. I get feedback on the nutritional quality of my foods. It’s helping me look for items that will complete my nutritional profile for the day. I love that. Finally, there are a lot of food items in the database. It’s super easy to add items, import a recipe (love that) or create a recipe in the system. I did purchase the paid version which gives me a few additional options around reporting and nutrition tracking.

Great Tool and App Developer. I appreciate the insights that this application has made into my diet and nutrition. I used this for a number of years to start the habit of tracking my habits. I found that I both used it frequently enough to warrant a subscription. I want to support companies that produce good products and/or services, and feel like this is a good purchase. I appreciate the privacy policy focus for subscribers, and prefer that over an ads-based user interface. Additionally, compared to some competitors, the food database is curated and continues to grow. Any errors that I've found and submitted are quickly responded to. That's an evidence of both customer service and a concern for "good data". I recommend the app for learning and adapting your dietary habits.

Was loving it until *UPDATE!! It works again!!. NEW UPDATE: I ended up emailing the support staff about the issue I was having and one of their people was in constant contact with me until the developers were able to fix the issue. My Polar Fitness Band is now back to syncing with the app, and my activity data (i.e. calories burned) are showing up in the app again! I’m back to losing weight!! Thank you so much, Developers and Support Staff!!! ********************************* The app all of a sudden stopped working with my Polar Fitness Band five days ago. Now, my activity data (i.e. calories burned) won’t sync with the app anymore. I’ve tried everything. I unlinked/re-linked my Polar Band with the app. I’ve logged out and back in after changing the settings. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Now, any time I try to link my band with the app, I get an Error message, and the app gets stuck on a page that says “Connecting Device” with a little circle going round and round like it’s “loading.” To get out of that screen, I have to exit out of the app, and when I go back in to the “Connect Device” page, it says my Polar Band is linked- even though it’s not! Been dealing with the for 5 days now. Very frustrating. The app is only useful for me to guide as a weight loss tool if I know the correct amount of calories I am burning, and thus what a true 500 calorie deficit is, so that I can aim for a one pound a week loss. Please fix!! Otherwise, would be 5 stars!!

Perfect for me!. I’ve always had a low BMI and after getting pregnant consulted with a nutritionist. I needed more protein in my diet so I started eating meat after being a pescatarian for a year. Unfortunately, the app they had me using was clunky and not very intuitive. At 18 weeks pregnant I was not gaining enough weight still so I searched for my own app and found this one. It’s absolutely perfect! It takes into account that I’m pregnant and let’s me adjust how much weight I want to gain per week if I want. It tracks the important stuff that I need to make sure my little man is getting everything he needs! And it’s soooo simple! I’ve created recipes with my daily shakes and was able to scan in all my vitamins. The copy and paste feature is perfect and the barcode feature is fantastic. I’ve been using for two weeks and have only had one item that the barcode didn’t recognize. I’ve never written a review on an app before but as of yesterday (after using the app for only two weeks) I am on track with my weight where I should be at 20 weeks pregnant and I couldn’t be happier that I found this app! Thank you for making something so easy to help people track their diet for whatever purpose they choose!!

Top 3 reasons why this app is better than others. I’m genuinely impressed by this app for several reasons that make it stand out among others: 1. First and foremost, this app provides detailed micronutrient information. It goes beyond just displaying carbs, fats, and proteins, offering insight into your daily intake of essential vitamins and minerals such as vitamin E, vitamin D, vitamin C, copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc. This is crucial for anyone on a diet, as a calorie deficit can often lead to insufficient micronutrient consumption, which may hinder progress 2. The app makes calorie tracking a breeze. It displays your daily calorie total, as well as the breakdown of carbs, fats, and proteins consumed, right at the top of the screen. Unlike many other apps, there's no need to navigate to another page to find this vital information. 3. Lastly, the app boasts an extensive database of food nutrition facts. It incorporates data from reliable sources like the United States Department of Agriculture's National Nutrient Database (USDA), the National Coordinating Center for Food and Nutrition (NCCDB), and even databases from other countries, ensuring a comprehensive and accurate resource for users. All in all, this app is a must-have for anyone looking to manage their nutrition and make better choices when it comes to their dietary habits

Could use some improvements. I've been using this app for a couple years now and it's helped me lose a significant amount of weight in that time. While it's great, there are a few features that are missing or wrong. 1. A lot of the calorie counts for food entries are plain wrong, and are usually lower what the actual calorie count is. It requires me to do a math problem every time I want to log something. This is frustrating because it applies to common foods too. The solution to this would be for the food entries (at least the most popular ones) to go through a reoccurring review to make sure that they're accurate. 2. Today, I was logging a recipe that I had created. One of the items in that recipe was only measured in fluid ounces. When I go to log a portion of that meal, I realized that the weight was entirely off! It hadn't considered the item that was in fluid ounces when it totaled the entire weight of the recipe. When I looked closer, the app just said "grams unknown". All it would take is for the app to do a simple conversion from fl oz to grams. Now I am paranoid about the accuracy of every recipe I create in that app. As I come closer to my weight goal, it becomes apparent that every calorie counts, and if I cannot depend on this app to be accurate, then I no longer have reason to use it.

Best of its kind. I was a long time user of the (now very old and largely defunct) DietPower software. As the years rolled by, I tried most of the other online health and fitness apps, and none of them were a suitable replacement. They often had terrible food entry, were very noisy, and were often more focused on support groups than they were on the primary task of just logging food and exercise! After a decade of trying most of the other apps and being dissatisfied, Cronometer was worth the wait! The food logging is nearly perfect - the searches are fast and intuitive, and the barcode scanner is fantastic too. The ability to easily copy old records (even whole meals) to today’s food diary makes data entry lightning fast. Exercise entry is simple and there are categories for nearly everything- and all are easy to find. The calculations for calories burned is straightforward, and the entries allow you to enter custom values if you track them in another app such as Runkeeper. Integration with devices looks excellent (though I’ve not used that feature yet). Best of all, the interface on both the app and the website is clean, uncluttered, and very intuitive. I have nothing but gratitude to the folks at Cronometer for getting it so *right*! Strongly recommend!!

Useful app. I’m trying to keep track of my diet, especially specific micronutrients during my pregnancy, and this has been helpful. Foods and supplements are easy to input (or add, if the app is not familiar with them.) Obviously it isn’t perfect since it can only give a general idea of how much of a nutrient any specific person will be able to absorb from the foods they’ve logged, and certain nutrients are generalized (like “vitamin k” instead of “k1” and “k2”) I also wish there was a way to add vitamin D from intentional daily sun exposure and that when you log water or drinks that it used a 💧instead of including it with the food 🍎 I’d love to have a second page of highlighted nutrient targets at the top of my diary instead of their nutrition scores page -but overall it’s the best app I’ve used. You can see your records on the app, or the web, and they have a lot of different measurements for inputting the food you’ve eaten, which is very helpful if you estimate instead of weighing things sometimes…

No stress. I didn’t want to start a diet at all. It stressed me out thinking about counting calories. This has completely changed the way I look at my meals for the day. I’m able to see how many nutrients I’m getting and where I need to fill in the gaps in real time. I can then decide what I want for a snack and it isn’t telling me that I should not eat a cookie! Instead I can see how many calories to eat to stay in my goal. It updates after I do exercise so I can adjust throughout the day how many calories I’m going to eat. I love the wheels. I also I’ve that I can weigh my food and easily see how many calories it is exactly for what my portion is. It is very user friendly and I like the graphics a lot! I’ve gained a lot of insight into my health and it’s helped me understand where I need to fill in some gaps. Highly recommend!

Great app for insights into what you’re eating. I have been using this app for a couple months now, and in comparison to my experience, with MFP, this has been much better. I am able to quickly scan my foods, categorize them, and set goals for my specific nutrient targets.(protein, fiber, calcium, etc..) I will honestly say it has been eye-opening as where I thought I had deficiencies, I do not, and where I thought I was doing well, I have deficiencies! I did upgrade to the package while my husband has the free version and we are able to share all of my custom recipes if you do download this, I highly recommend that you join the Reddit group as well as Support actively monitors what’s happening on that chat, which has been super helpful

Biologist. My nutritionist told me to use Cronometer because I lost so much weight and they want me to put weight back on. My use of Cronometer has impressed my visiting nurse and my visiting dietitian because of how flexible it is and how much information you can control with Cronometer. Two young gentleman that work at a supplement and powder protein store and are also personal trainers were very impressed because you can also track your alcohol consumption and water intake with Cronometer, that’s just in the basic free software. I am a biologist by trade, I know to gain weight you have to eat more calories than you’re burning. To lose weight you have to burn more calories than you’re eating cronometer is a very easy way to track your calorie intake. You can enter the name of foods or if it’s a packaged product you can scan its barcode and most of the products you buy are already in the program. I am going to purchase Cronometer Gold which gives you more than the free program.

Perfect tool for weightless assistance!. I’ve been overweight for a long time and have tried many tools to help me lose weight. Some helped some were completely useless, but Chronometer has been an invaluable tool. I’ve lost 60 lbs in the last 12 month. Being able opt not only track your daily calorie intake, but keep track of your daily nutrition has been huge help towards healthy weight loss. It’s also incredibly easy to use with the majority of foods I’ve come across being in their massive database or easy enough to add just by scanning barcodes. Since my weight loss and become more into a healthy lifestyle I have managed to get my certification as a personal trainer and definitely will recommend the use of the app to my clients. Remember everyone that you can meet your goals if you keep your mind to it and there’s tons of tools to help you with Chronometer being a prime example!

A great in-depth free tracker. My partner and I love this app, we use it to track our daily intake and plot it against recommended values, in particular vitamins and nutrients that other apps don’t check. I recommend this app as the best app for micronutrient tracking. There are a couple draw backs in the free version for us. One is the lack of an apple watch app/complication. I’d pay for the gold service to get information on my watch since no apps track the vitamins and micronutrients as well. I like that information in an easy format on my apple watch. The other drawback is that you have to subscribe to share recipes. Cronometer doesn’t support subscription sharing which is something I would purchase just for sending my saved foods to my partner. We don’t have a need for the other features offered in the gold plan, so the price is a bit too high for us to consider two subscriptions just to send a recipe to save one of us the time of typing in the ingredients. Their customer support has been great when I reported incorrect nutrition information in their database. Within a few hours, they corrected some products that had incorrect vitamin data and I was able to update my diary and see the changes before the day was over, which is important to me because I want to make sure I’m getting the recommended daily value of micronutrients in addition to the macros.

Good but glitchy. I downloaded this app today after MFP’s recent paywall update. This app certainly has more features than MFP does for free which I really like. I’m still looking around the app and exploring but I like what I see. My only complaint is it is quite glitchy. I’ve had to close and restart the app a few times and it did randomly log me out already once. I’ve only been using it for about 20 minutes. So I can see this frustrating me in the future if I’m trying to use it in a time crunch. Hopefully the developers will fix the issues or have the app running better in the future. Given how most apps require you to spend at least 40 dollars just to open them I’ll take what I can get! I really hope the developers don’t stoop down to spamming the app with ads or creating tons of paywalls like other apps. This has the potential to be the best weight tracking app out! I will say I did notice they have a “gold” subscription so there is already a paywall, but I hope it remains as something extra and not something necessary.

Best food tracker. Love this app so much!! In my experience it’s the best food tracker out there—I’ve tried MyFitnessPal, Fitbit, iTrackBites, and several others, but cronometer is hands down the best I’ve found. Love the simple, clean user interface, clear display of macros, daily nutrition analysis, and especially the ability to import and add recipes. I use it to help me maintain/lose weight and watch my sodium/fat intake while ensuring that I’m getting enough protein and other nutrients. Quick, simple, and easy to use. The free version does have ads, but they are fairly non-intrusive, and the gold version is ad-free and absolutely wonderful. I have it synced with my Garmin and I was skeptical about that at first, but they pair together very well. I have left reviews of Cronometer before, and I wanted to update my previous review but for some reason it has disappeared. No worries; the app developers seem to have fixed the issues I brought up (database issues) and I just want to thank you for your dedication and continuous improvement of this wonderful app! Truly a life-changing tool. Thank you so much! :)

A must-have for pregnant/breastfeeding moms to be. If you are trying to lose weight, trying to be healthy, or trying to make sure you are getting everything you need because you, like me, are trying to get pregnant/ are pregnant, then this is the only app you will ever need. The breakdowns of carbs/fats/proteins into their components is so amazing, not to mention I have never seen a more all-encompassing and user friendly app for micronutrients, water consumption, caffeine consumption etc. You name it, and this app breaks it down for you, as well as shows you the foods you tend to eat that contain certain nutrients, in addition to telling you the function of the nutrient and other food sources you can get it from. Making sure I am eating enough of specific micronutrients for my baby has never been so easy! You can even log your prenatal vitamin!

Better than most others. My goal personally has been to gain weight and muscle mass so I’ve (admittedly) not been using all the apps features though it is cool to see all the breakdowns. However, it’s done a great job at tracking my intake. The barcode feature is a godsent and it has probably 95% of all the foods I eat already logged in the app with all the nutrition breakdowns. I am on a rotating sleep schedule that swaps from days to nights so tracking my “days” can get a bit tricky but this Crono allows you to go back a forth between days and continue to log foods. Typically when I’m on nights I use the day I woke up as my “day” so after midnight I just have to go back to the previous day to log my meals. I also meal prep so it’s easy to go ahead a lot my meals for future days as well. To add to that you can also copy entires meals or days to the next day which is amazing. I’ve suggested a few feature that would make the app easier for those of us who are on a night schedule. Over all easy to use. Also syncs with all my Apple heart data so my smart scale and watch data etc is all input into the app. 10/10 would recommend.

Great for Tracking, Terrible Ad Interruptions. I love this app - however I use it typically only when I’m in an intense cut or modified date so I prefer the free version. I love the myriad foods available via barcode, it’s friendly to look at, super easy to use, I love how it syncs with Whoop and Apple Health (it’d be nice if it was smart enough to not pull in the same workout twice). However, the most recent update inserts the most irritating full page, long video ads in the middle of using it. I’ll be mid-entry and full ad pops up with no way to exit it before it’s done playing. I recognize the need for the developer to reap some sort of monetary gain from the free version. I’m not anti-ad. I am opposed to an app throwing up an ad while I’m in the middle of using it and not allowing for me to exit out of it before the 1-minute video is done. And the ads are for things like, games and Temu. Not quite wellness focused. It isn’t enough for me to give in and pay the $10/month, but I do dislike it enough to potentially find a new app… despite my love for all the things this app offers, the ad thing is a big turn off.

So much nutritional information!!!. And has plenty of potential!!! You can edit nutritional information that some corporations fail to provide Like protein contents and other micronutrients!!! Like you don’t want to intake too much Isoleucine according to peer reviewed studies!!! Plus Create meal plans and create custom food entry’s in you diary!!! Sorry if I’m screaming!!! This app is easily worth $150-$350 for lifetime membership!!! This is definitely an app if you want to put yourself in blue zone mentality. I would love the database to keep expanding. Starting from big chain fast food and restaurants on downward since it’s more accessible for people to come across. But understand food items come and go sometimes. Like i see some chik-fil-a and Taco Bell items missing but like I said, YOU CAN CREATE IN CUSTOM FOODS!!! Yezzir!!

UPDATE Macros are right - but calories are wrong. Edit: The cronometer team replied to my email and this review very quickly with a good explanation that not every gram of each macro has the same amount of calories. A quick google search basically says that the general rule is 4-4-9, but cronometer is right that this general rule isn’t the most precise. I’m glad to hear this, because this is my favorite tracker app. Thanks for getting back to me so fast! This is a glaring weakness in the app. I like that the sources for foods are barcodes and legit data sources, unlike myfitnesspal. I believe the macros are right. But the calories are incorrect! It’s 9 calories from each gram of fat, 4 calories per gram of carbs, and 4 calories per gram of protein. When you add up those categories from the macro columns, the “calorie” row has clearly undercounted. Why this is happening is unclear to me, but it’s a major weakness in the app.

Cronometer. As far as I’ve seen Cronometer is the best app for tracking macros and micros. I haven’t used the premium version yet but am looking forward to when I can. The free version has everything you need. Unlike other apps the free version of Cronometer still allows you to see kcals consumed burned and remaining as well as a long very long list of micros. I’ve seen some people say it’s to much for beginners etc. I think for me it’s perfect. I can focus on what I know and if I see something I don’t know I can ignore it or I can look it up learn about how much of that I want/need to lose weight or bulk up and tweak my diet or eating habits to fit it better. The premium version has “the oracle” which I’m eager to get and use to find foods that fit my wants more specifically.

Has potential. I was really hoping to make this my new default but it’s missing a few important features. First it does a better job than LoseIt for making it easy to add recently used foods and most common foods. Also you can add favorites which is great. It has a nice clean UI and really good fitness tracking integration. So far I’ve been pleased with the database as well. There are a few things I think it needs before I could fully switch though: 1. It doesn’t have any automatic conversion between measurement units. If something has serving size of “1 cup” I want to easily choose different measurement units (when possible), such as “5 tablespoons”. When a serving size is “five slices” I want to be able to choose “one slice”. Both of these should be very doable with strict data entry structure in place. 2. Doesn’t seem to provide a weekly overview. MyFitnessPal and LoseIt do a much better job of graphs and visually representing how things are going. 3. Smaller thing, but it displays different databases labeled CRDB and FDC but doesn’t explain what they mean. 4. Finally, when doing a search or barcode scan I wish it would highlight in some way which option I chose last time. Most of the time there have been 2-3 results for each barcode when I scan, and once I figure out the right one that matches my label I want that to be highlighted in some way for next time I scan.

Cronometer’s challenge did the trick. I have used Cronometer for a number of years to track my steps and occasionally to log my food intake. At the end of 2023 the folks at Cronometer announced a challenge whereby one gained points for assiduously logging food during the month of January. I decided to get a jumpstart on logging so that it would be a habit by the time the new year started. Even though I didn’t win the competition, I’m happy to report that thus far I’ve lost 9.6 pounds. It’s not a huge amount over two months, and I have quite a way until I reach my goal, but I’m quite happy, especially because I am now able to fit into clothes I haven’t worn in years. This comes at a very opportune time, since I’m about to head off on a two-month trip to a place where I know I will be doing lots of walking and because I’m hoping my friends will notice the change. Even if they don’t or don’t make any comments, I myself feel much more comfortable in my skin and know that in the warmer climate I’m going to, I will be happy to be carrying less weight up the stairs.

Better than MFP in every way. I used MyFitnessPal (MFP) for a few years and got tired of all of the syncing issues and also the dizzying array of incorrect subscriber food entries which lead to tons of inaccurate and frustrating tracking. Yes, it’s visually appealing. But there’s truth to the old saying about dressing up a pig. It’s still a pig. I researched, found, trialed, then switched to Cronometer and never looked back. Syncing across multiple devices is rock solid. The database is vetted. If you find something that doesn’t match the label info, you can easily report it AND they respond quickly with updates to correct any issues. Also, Cronometer allows much more flexibility defining daily calorie goals which is so helpful when workouts dictate different daily needs. And when and if needed, their tech support is responsive and very helpful. Lastly, subscription costs are lower than MFP. I’m never going back. Keep up the great work.

I love it but there’s just one thing…. I’m new to this app and really enjoy all of the features. I discover a new feature all the time and I just love it even more. This is by far the best food tracking app I’ve ever used! However, I am disappointed that I can no longer edit or view ingredients in a custom meal from the diary page. Going to foods then custom foods and searching for the item just feels like I have to go alllll the way around the app just to get to where I was already at. I saw your update message saying that you heard all the complaints about editing foods and what not and it’s all been fixed. I can’t imagine anyone complaining about that feature bc it was pretty great! Please bring the option to edit a custom meal from the diary page back. And if I’m overlooking the feature and it’s somewhere in my face, please let me know. Thanks😊

In Love!!. The features on this app are way better than any I have tried in the past, and they are FREE! Unless you want a diet plan, which in my opinion is fairly priced, you don’t spare a cent! You get to calculate your exercise, and it automatically subtracts from your goals. the calories aren’t overwhelmingly in your face for those with a history of emotions around food. It’s so simplified and accessible! One of my favorite features is the recipe input-it makes it easy to calculate baked goods correctly for those of us who are bakers, and I was so happy to discover such a feature. I am a type one diabetic trying to calculate and track carbs to get a better understanding and control of my blood sugar. I am also somebody who has struggled with weight for a lot of my life as well as body image issues, but I am using this app for my benefit, not to impress others. Finally, there are many more foods listed, vitamin and mineral details, and a data tracker so you can look back and easily find the tools to progress. What a clean design! I feel so lucky to have come across it!

Great App but INAPPROPRIATE ads. I have been using Cronometer and it’s been great... the ads have never bothered me until today when a FREAKING PORN AD came on and wouldn’t allow me to skip it. I am so shocked. It was so lame kind of cartoon porn story thing and I’m so disgusted and disappointed. If I was around a child or even if a child/teen was using this app and that ad popped up, a YOUNG child does NOT need to see those things. Especially if you can’t even skip it or close it out until the full 10 seconds. I had to sit there watching cartoons having sex over my morning breakfast. I’m very upset and concerned for parents who have children using apps. If that kind of ad could make its way into a nutrition tracker, I can’t even imagine what kids are seeing in their game apps.

Seems about on par with MyFitnessPal. I have only used the free version of Cronometer so this review is only for the free version. It doesn’t have as many items in the database as MyFitnessPal but you can add them in easily by just taking pictures of the nutrition facts label. Cronometer seems to have more accurate nutrient scores than MFP. Free version of Cronometer tracks more nutrients than the MFP free version. Doesn’t have the option to add in your foods under specific meals like breakfast, lunch, dinner etc. Does have a reminder you can turn on to remind you to log your foods by a certain time. Doesn’t appear to have a multi select button for adding foods which is pretty annoying because it has pop up video ads that come on when you hit the add food button a bunch of times to add multiple foods. Will not integrate my Garmin smartwatch for some reason. I have been using it for about a month now, overall it seems comparable to MFP which I had used for about 10 years off and on, including the MFP Premium version which I tried out but did not find worth paying for.

Lost its 5* with recent update. Love this app. I use it to track nutrients needed for my various health issues to make sure I can keep healthy and avoid medications. However the most recent update has lost one star for me. My main gripe is the custom recipe section which I use all the time. The function search is a pain as the search box goes away if it doesn’t find something you are searching for - usually when I mistype something. Also if you copy a recipe it doesn’t immediately appear in the list of recipes, and if you edit a recipe the changes don’t show up straight away. Looks like cache is not being cleared properly on the save. Hope these comments make their way back to the developers. Obviously not much user testing was complete before it was released!!

From My Fitness Pal to Cronometer. I was using the free version of MFP for 2 years but never really stuck with it. But with Cronometer, even just the free version is AMAZING. It shows you the nutrient breakdowns and percentages of vitamins and everything. I love it cuz I’m a visual person and I can actually see what I’ve eaten (as opposed to just calories). It’s aesthetically pleasing and the charts activate the part of my brain that wants to “complete” each part- especially protein which I’ve always struggled with eating enough of. There are still days I forget to log, don’t get me wrong, but Cronometer makes me actually want to track my food more often so I’m far more consistent (I average 4-5 daily logs a week!). Plus it makes me want to eat the amount of protein I should be eating to achieve my fitness goals (which it will ask u in the beginning when setting up ur account). Definitely worth using

Easy to use and the paid version worth the money. I was using a different calorie counter that was discontinued, so I switched over to Cronometer. I was able to figure it out quickly and learn many of the features on the first day. I have been using it now for several months and I’m very happy with it. I just recently upgraded to the annual plan. I think the paid features are well worth the money. My only complaint, which is the same with any other calorie counter, is I wish they would offer more than just 4 meal groupings. I eat many times a day due to hypoglycemia, and it would be great if I could see each of my meals grouped together, rather than just breakfast, lunch , dinner, and snack. I know I am in the minority, though, so I don’t expect this desire to ever be satisfied. Great app. Very happy with it.

Love the app, very convenient… until it’s broken. Unfortunately, there’s been yet another new update… and now exercise from my Withings scanwatch gets imported twice (instantly, the moment it appears, there’s two instances)… It throws off the daily calories. Hope it gets fixed soon, as it’s quite annoying having to manually delete duplicate. Another annoying thing is the app freezes frequently (usually when adding food or if you pull to refresh… have to be quite careful if I scroll not to pull accidentally as it freezes…)—————————————- Used to love the app but it’s buggy and food can now only be entered for “today“. It seems they broke the “plus” button and now it doesn’t take into account which diary day you’re in. This makes the app useless since I’ll have to login to the site or scramble to enter everything before midnight…

Loving this app! Have some suggestions…. I have been really blown away by how thorough this app is in comparison to others. It seemed like all that was out there were ways to count calories, which I’m not interested in at all. I have had some trouble the last few years managing some recent health changes and despite working with a holistic doctor for a time, the work and understanding really needed to come from me. I’m no expert when it comes to nutrition, but I’ve sure tried to learn how to eat healthy given my dietary limitations. I thought I was doing well when I found this app. I was feeling okay, having more good days than bad days. Started logging my meals on the app, and it’s really opened my eyes to how unbalanced my diet still actually is, and would explain why I still have “bad” days. What an extremely helpful tool Cronometer is, seriously, it has brought such clarity to my diet. I am extremely grateful! My only suggestion would be that I wish I could customize the “suggest food” section to better fit my limitations (gluten free, lectin free, MTHFR gene mutation, anti inflammatory, etc) because I am also not the best at creating meals, so that section I would find very helpful. Maybe Cronometer could add a way to customize it based on your diagnosis? Just a thought.

The best calorie counting app but not perfect. The bar is honestly so low when it comes to these apps. I will say that when it comes to tracking caloric deficits this is the best app. If you have an Apple Watch you can automatically import your active calories. Input your BMR into the app and your burnt calories are effortlessly tracked. This almost the sole reason I use this app. Other apps like MFP and LoseIt! would try to “guess” my calories burnt and then do a bunch math gymnastics to calculate a “calorie adjustment” from my workouts. It constantly was off by up to 500 calories. But this app still is lacking. The UI seems like it was made by freshmen software engineers. If you are in the middle of making a recipe and lose internet connection or leave the app for too long you can kiss your progress into that recipe goodbye. Want to separate your food diary into separate meals like every sane human on earth would want? Better pay up. It’s not even broken into time chunks it is literally just a compact list and if you add a lot of piecemeal items it can get long. And the home page might as well not exist. They don’t make the views simple and digestible. Maybe one day we will get a calorie counting app whose quality makes it easy to fork over cash but it seems like the strategy for now is to club you into submission with ads. Still bottom of the barrel. Just at the top of the bottom.

Perfect for what I was looking for.. I just wanted a simple app that would allow me to see all my nutrition information about what I eat. I especially wanted to know what kind of micronutrients I was lacking in my daily eating routine and this app has helped me make those changes that ensure that I’m getting all the nutrients my body needs. Allows you to set goals! So for me I try to stay under 26g of sugar a day and this really helps me see what foods I’m eating contain sugar even if I didn’t think they did. Also, you can see exactly what nutrients you are getting from the piece of food that gave it to you and how much it gave you! Ex) eggs gave me 10% of my daily need for folate I guess the one negative I have is that it doesn’t allow you to group your meals together but honestly that doesn’t really bother me (: This is just some of what you get with the app for free! I haven’t paid for a subscription yet, but I might so I can link my Fitbit

Loving it & learnt slot about what to eat as a new vegan. Great app to actually see what you are eating and drinking every day and the make up of your diet - got me eating more kale and oranges and gave me alot of clarity about supplements - is B12, calcium, vitamin B & D etc on a new vegan diet due to a serious accident and heart issues. Great to have some solid data on what you eat, drink and exercise every day.

It’s Good. Just recently started counting calories and all that jazz and currently just using the free version of this and it’s great. I’m all new to this but this actually helps a lot I will be upgrading to subscription soon.

Best nutrition tracking app out there. Very reliable and the free version offers everything you could need including comprehensive macro and micro nutrient info.

Amazing app!. Now I’m aware of all the nutritional deficiencies I had and also realised that I was not eating enough. It’s cool to track your nutrition if you really care about your health. I like that the info is very detailed. This is helping me a lot with my Keto-ish diet!!!

Really well made app, better than Lifesum. This app is well optimised, doesn’t stutter, crash or glitch, it has a real in-depth look at your macros and micros and all food data seems to be backed by research so it should be accurate. As opposed to Lifesum which is nowhere near as in-depth with your micro nutrients even with a subscription and would stutter and crash all the time, the food I think is also input by the community and was really inaccurate and unreliable so I didn’t trust the data it was giving me. this app also has a caffeine tracker which is a really important feature to me. One thing I would like to see tho, are healthy recipes and diet plans which was the one thing I enjoyed about Lifesum

By far the best diet app. It has all the things one can practically ask for. You can track the major nutritional categories, vitamins, minerals and more. Even amino acids if you need. All this and yet very simple, clean easy to use. I like the most the fact that you can reverse track any nutritional parameter that are important to you:if it shows you you consumed 1000mg potassium today, you just click on that to see how each food item contributes to it so you know where to act. No other app does that.

Love this App. I have had VSG surgery and this app is so helpful. It gives you everything you need from the times when you eat, to full nutritional information, the ease of use, and the reports are so detailed to pass on to your doctor and or nutritionist. I do not usually buy apps but very glad I did with this one. Highly recommend!!

Great App. It'd be great to stop the auto refresh when moving from one page to another as this takes the user to the top of the page when he might be checking something at the bottom. Worth adding pull to refresh?

Advertisements decrease functionality. Love the easy use of this app and how it has aided me in getting better macros etc but every single time I go to log something new ( even for a single meal with lots of ingredients) an add pops up that I can’t skip. Really takes time out of my day and makes me want to find a different app :/

Empowering. I love this app because I’ve never really understood nutritional information on the back of the food packet. Now Im starting to get it. It feels empowering to track and calculate what I eat and whats in the food I eat. This app has helped me choose to eat the foods I need instead of eating random whatever. Helps me track exercise which keeps me accountable. The daily diary and daily graphs are awesome. The user experience is thought out and intuitive. Barcode scanner is an awesome feature. Would like to see improvement to the goal settings, so like calculating macronutrient goals. It works super well but also feels a bit of a guesstimate, I want more certainty that I’m tracking towards accurate goals/needs regarding weight/muscle and carbs/protein. This is a hard problem but even making it easier to access and review these goals would be handy.

Good overall but upgrades needed. Don’t get me wrong, this app and the database of foods is the most comprehensive out there. I’ve been using Cronometer for about a year now and it’s been perfect for tracking foods on the fly because I have confidence things are in the database and the data is accurate. The only thing that lets Cronometer down is the loading issues. Quite often I find the app hangs or takes forever to load when I have a secure connection and other data loads quickly. Not sure if Cronometer just needs to upgrade their server bandwidth or something but it can be very annoying at times.

Good, but limited.. I was a Gold subscriber, but after a few years of being gaslit by the developers in the community forum, I gave up and downgraded. The app has all of the basic features of a calorie/ macro tracker, and the micro nutrient breakdown is nice. However, it seems they focus on developing the features they think people should want not the features users have been asking for. Instead of just being honest and taking users a seven added about certain features, they life and say it’s on the roadmap (then years later admit it’s not being developed). Also, the photos are a life. There’s no option to calculate macros by a vegan diet. Update this respond: mainly meal planning. Back in 2019 there was confirmation it was on the roadmap. Folios were ignored until a few years later when it was confirmed to not be happening.

My best apps for Healthy life. I am using this Every day and entry my food synchronize with my I watch health, I reduce my weight from 80 KG to 62 KG and I dropped my cholesterol, sugar, and gastritis medicines. In my experience, I feel that food is a medicine .if we consume in proper way and proper amount. Thank you Cronometer to help me out

Great Info!. Great app with great info provided to track macro & micronutrients. The one issue I have is that when inputting info with keyboard, there is no way to close the keyboard when finished (for example a done button to close the keyboard). So when inputting info you will get stuck on a page with no way to continue to the next page. Please fix this!!

Grateful. Grateful this app exists and even more grateful that you’ve made it free of charge. Thank you for creating something that makes life so much easier and helps us reach our health goals. Love that you can add foods to be remembered and that the exercise component is tracked against intake

Amazing!. Weird name, great app! I never write app reviews, but I felt this one warranted one, so thumbs up developers 👍🏼 I searched for an app for ages that looked at the vitamin and mineral content of food, and I’m so happy I stumbled across this one! It’s been really eye opening, seeing that even though I don’t eat any junk foods, that I’m still not getting my RDAs of some nutrients! It’s been so useful 😊 also, it gives a brief indication of the benefits, and highlights some food sources, of each nutrient! Seriously great! And even better that it’s free 👌🏼

Critical BUG - now fixed. On my ipad the advertising now covers the entries in the Diary. This makes the App useless as I cannot see my food entries. Developers are aware of the problem. I’ll give the app 5 stars when the change is done. It is a brilliant app however this bug does seriously impact it. 16 Aug. Just uploaded the new version and bug is fixed. Thanks Dev team.

Widget values. I’ve read hundred on reviews that have asked for a widget that shows macros in grams not calories along with you’re calories consumed and you just flat out refuse todo it. Something so simple and honestly it’s stopping people from making the leap to premium. Good tracker but you say you read all these reviews and for years nothings changed. Widgets don’t work at all since update

Love this app with the money spent. I upgraded to the gold and although pricey, it’s worth it to use all the functionality - I often cook from recipes online and I can just import them in. There also an oracle feature that recommends how you can adjust your diet based on what you’ve eaten so far - haven’t used it heaps but hints to the right foods to get more balanced is pretty cool. The scan tool works great and ive found it really accurate, database is extensive and uses real data not junk data like some sites- it includes Australian foods which is awesome unlike other sites I’ve used that were all US-focussed. The ability to track macro and micronutrients means I can make really informed decisions on what I eat - just overall gotta say I’m just really loving this app for making it easy and relevant to people like me concerned about their diet. Great for anyone wanting a useful decision-making tool.

Room to Improve. Having massive issues with loading the app, loading foods, creating foods and entering the data. Even after all the updates I still end up writing my food down and entering it on my laptop at the end of the day through the desktop website. There is also very minimal Australian foods in the data base. Apart from that the concept is great.

MFP pay walled the scanner so I’m giving this a go. Hopefully this app continues to improve and not abusive its customers, I hope you guys become MFP’s next big comp.

Nutritional information incorrect. I would like to give this app 5 stars however the nutritional information is never correct. I have a packet of noshu blondies sitting in front of me, the carb count is 4.2. The chronometer tracker has the carbs at 11.4 per serve. It took me a while to figure it out, whoever entered this into the database has added the total carbs plus the fibre plus the xylitol together to get the carb count. This is ridiculous, why would you add total carbs and fibre together to get the total carbs. The carb count is out for most foods which is frustrating because then I have to enter the food as a custom food. Also when I try to get the nutritional count of regular food like fruits and vegetables i am lucky if I get one normal result, the rest of the list is just processed rubbish food. I guess the American diet is full of rubbish plastic food so the database reflects that.

100x better than MyFitness Pal. The free version of this app trumps MyFitness pal. A much better user friendly interface and overall more attractive app. Not to mention the barcode scanner is available in the free version.

Best free nutrition tracker. Wow, I am impressed with this app. I used MyFitnessPal for a long time but I needed to track certain nutrients in more detail, such as iron, magnesium and amino acids. Cronometer allows you to set customisable targets for every macro and micronutrient, and it also allows you to see which foods you’ve logged contained the most of a specific nutrient, like iron, for instance. It’s so versatile and helpful for making sure your body is getting everything it needs. Exactly what I was looking for - thank you!

Awesome. I Love this App. It helps me stay on track with my daily goals and lets me know if I need to up something in my diet. Thanks for the hard work that went into this app. Only two things to work on. Firstly, the ads. But I understand why you have them. Secondly, when I try to add a new item there is no button the save the food item. For example, a tried to add a peanut butter I use and it wasn’t on the app. When I filled out all the dietary information and serving size there is no way to save it. Unless my iPhone is the issue.

Features are great, interface & compatibility lacking.. Cronometer is a great tracking app, would like the ability to view other peoples food diaries as well as integrate it into other fitness apps. Database is smaller but growing. Fantastic app overall.

Great app but problems with subscriptions. Great app but can’t subscribe to monthly plan - only brings up payment options for annual. Have contacted support but no response so thought I’d pop it here instead!

Accept no cheap copies. The only good calorie tracker. The dev has been producing this app for more than 10 years. Every feature you can think of is here.

Like this app but …. I love that the app includes minerals and vitamims which is why I paid for it in the first place BUT I have to fact check the carb tracking all the time which always seems to be higher than what the label says. This is very annoying and I am considering moving over to another app as it is too time consuming to check and create custom foods.

Great nutrition and diet info. I used this app a couple of years ago to help me improve my awareness of my diet and to lose weight. I did both and it was really useful. Now I need to get back on track after all the Covid lockdowns and bad habits and junk food. It’s helping me again. Thanks!

A few issues since update. I love using Cronometer, but one issue has emerged since the recent update. When I try to copy multiple diary entries to different days to essentially duplicate that meal plan (because I have set meal plans for certain days of the week), it doesn’t automatically copy the food items into the correct categories / headings / meals. For example if I have a meal plan and my headings are Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks, when I copy an entire day over to another day, it doesn’t retain the categories and instead copies everything into ‘Breakfast’. Then I have to manually drag the food items into the correct headings. Is it possible to fix this please so that I can copy an entire day of food into another day and they stay within their correct categories? Thanks very much!

Good app but two factor authentication appalling. Have used the app for a year or two and it’s great. Was happy to hear they were introducing more security but the day I switched it on, I could no longer log in on any new device. Tried the help page but it simply didn’t work. Had to go back to my old almost-dead device to switch it off as every help suggestion didn’t work.

Amazing app. I’ve been using it for about two years and I can’t imagine why I would stop any time soon. All in all, a pretty good sign that Cronometer is good. Even syncs exercise data with my Apple Watch, which I’ve only had for about a year

Great app. I have the Gold Subscription and this app is fantastic. Tracks all micronutrients & macros. Very detailed info (better than MFP) totally worth it. Even the free version is great! They also respond really quickly to fix any issues within the app if you tweet them etc. A+

Not bad but no worth paying for in Australia. Not a bad app, I like the format. However I don’t get apps that require annual subscriptions, especially when I’ve been waiting for over a year for the Australian food data base isn’t up to scratch. Do that and this app would be worth paying for

This App has been amazing.. I highly recommend this app for tracking food. The breakdown of nutrients I’m getting and more importantly, not getting was very enlightening. Once you can see problems areas which are easy to see in Cronometer you can make positive changes.

Best app/great support!. The best food and nutrition app by far. Complete, technical and a joy to use. Moreover, the support staff, in those rare occasions when the app has trouble, are superb. I had trouble upgrading my account; they fixed the problem and provided the upgrade for free for my trouble. Can’t beat that!

Better than most trackers. The best thing about this app is that it feeds all the data from your Apple Watch or Fitbit into one source so you can realistically see how many calories you have left for the day. As an Aussie user it still has a way to go on products in the database and the biggest drawback is how slow the app is and how often it just spends loading data. But in terms of what I need it is very good and I also love the recipe section to add your own dishes. I do wish you could section out the food into breakfast, lunch etc as an option (but not default). If there was also an option to add a symptom tracker for food intolerances it would literally be the perfect app!

Calorie Balance Calculation Broken. The latest update has completely broken the Calorie Balance calculation (at least for those using Apple Watch). Refer to my email with full details and screen shots. I love this app, so hoping this bug will be fixed soon.

Can’t update weight / fat values anymore. Has bug that you can’t update body weight or body fat anymore (unlike the legacy version). Otherwise this app is 5 stars. It seamlessly migrated my data from the legacy and online versions. Has a surprisingly comprehensive database of foods, products, vitamin tablets. Over the years it has educated me on the nutrition different foods have and has really helped to form a great eating regime. Good graphs. I love this app.

Enlightening. Searched for an app that would give information about nutrition. Entering my meals it quickly became obvious why I’m always low in iron, despite my healthy eating. Using chronometer I can adapt my meals throughout the day to meet daily RDI’s, even testing a meal or snack’s score before eating it. While this app will tell you fat, protein, carbs, my focus is on vitamins and minerals+ So much more energy, and no longer in the dark about meeting RDI’s.

Really useful. Cronometer not only tracks your calorific intake but provides substantial information on the nutrients you gain from the food you eat every day—both macronutrients and micronutrients. The app allows you to add your own data (food products, units of measurement, etc) and also has a large database of food products already available for you to access, so that entering your food into the app is not as onerous as you might think. There’s much more to this app than that—and it’s easy to use too. Thanks!

Excellent. I am studying nutrition and find this app simple and elegant for tracking macro and micronutrients. The information on the functions and sources of nutrients is really helpful. The ability to add foods and recipes is really useful. I have only used the free version so far. The app would be perfect if you could add profiles and food diaries for other family members.

Life-changing app. Fantastic way to see whether you’re giving your body all the nutrients it needs - not from tablets but wonderful food.

Great app. I’m a paid subscriber of this app, and for good reason; it’s excellent and the price very reasonable! It’s great to be able to track micro nutrients as well as macros and have it calculate my BMR from Apple Health stats and take into account the day’s activity from my Apple Watch. It’s helped me to see where I’m missing things in my diet so I can take steps to rectify and has helped me get closer to hitting my daily macro targets. I used MyFitnessPal for the same thing before but it just doesn’t do the job as well as Cronometer. The web interface is great too. My only gripes are that the app’s performance could use some improvement. Restrictive “loading” modal pop ups could be removed with updates running in the background etc. Sometimes it totally freezes and I have to kill the app and launch again, but these issues are not enough for me to look for something else. I’d like to be able to use formulas to calculate macros based on various stats also. Not sure how viable that is but just a suggestion. Overall great app and I can’t wait to see what features come next.

Great app but seems outdated!. The depth of the app is great in regards to micronutrients and the ability to add foods missing is great, but the exercise section is so weird! I found it really hard to find to similar exercises that matched what I’m doing? It’s quite specific on odd areas of exercise and completely misses newer exercises like barre or cardio classes.

Useful for micronutrients but too many ads. Useful app, doesn’t often have a lot of the Australian foods scanned in. Also have to wait for ads in the middle of entering foods in etc. Most useful function is tracking you mineral and micronutrient intake and it has an option for pregnant/breastfeeding woman.

Amazing app for food tracking!. Currently using the free version and the app does everything I want and more! I love how much detail the app provides for micro nutrient tracking, other apps have so many ads which interferes with the user experience, this app still has some ads, but you barely notice them.

Requesting a new feature. Hello. I really enjoy using this app and impressed with how many grocery items it covers and has info about. I just wanted to give a suggestion. There should be an option to add the amount of calories and carbs and fats directly which means without having to make up all the recipes with the ingredients. Like for example today, I had a zambrero burrito and they had nutritional information on the burrito but there was no way for me to add that to the cronometer. I understand it makes the overall information of the micronutrients inaccurate but we will lnow that!!! I think this would be a helpful update. I hope you guys consider it!

It’s pretty good. I am a gold member. While it’s fairly easy to use and I like that it’s accurate, I find that it’s constantly glitching lately. While I am sure they have so many requests, there have been quite a few products I have sent barcodes, labels and nutritional tables in for and they have never been added to the database which is very disappointing. Would love to see the the bugs fixed and the database be updated. Being in Australia, the database isn’t great but I generally am able to get most things logged.

Great Calorie Counter. Free Can use barcode scanner Can favourite foods Simple and easy 10/10

The best calorie count apps out there. Easy to track calories, huge database of foods, lots of details about nutrient and vitamins. Calories really accurate. Good price for a subscription. Highly recommended.

Best Calorie Counter. Beyond ease of use, the best thing for me about Cronometer is the fact that the food you enter is based on verified databases. No more salmon as 100 calories when it should be 300! I couldn’t stand that about other apps. The recipe feature is also top notch and awesome!

Fine. Better apps out there.. The food database is limited compared to other options and the UI is mediocre. (Paid version).

Notes. I want to be able to make notes within each custom meal. And you should add portion changing like MyFitnessPal you can change the serving size

Best thing going. If you need to track your nutrition this is the fastest most accurate app going.

Great Resource!. My Keto coach recommended this app to me and it was instrumental in my weight loss journey. I’m down 33 pounds and counting.

App freezes. Hey, I love the app but it constantly freezes for 5-10 seconds when opening it after not using it for a few hours. I noticed it started happening after getting my Apple Watch- maybe something is broken with the integration? Either way it’s unfortunately making me want to move to a different app. Edit: I emailed support and never got a response. Lowering to 1 star

Easy to learn, easy to use. So simple I actually use it every meal.

Absolutely Brilliant. I’ve used this app everyday for at least 7 years. Even the free version has great features and It’s helped me keep track of everything I eat. It’s also helped me keep track of my weight and I’ve lost 20 pounds. This app is indispensable for every health conscious person.

Great app by an awesome team. This app is great but the team supporting it is awesome! Anytime I notice that an item is missing a nutritional value, I use the Report a Problem feature in the app. I always receive a prompt response from the support team informing me that they updated the missing nutritional values.

One major flaw. The app is great but we should be given the ability to separate our meals into breakfast/ lunch/ dinner, rather being forced to simply list each ingredient. This would make it a lot easier to track calories per meal and the ingredients in each meal.

Keto Journey. This App has made my Keto journey a breeze. Before using this app I wasn’t able to follow the diet properly and wasn’t losing any weight. Now I’m reaching my goals!!!

Chronometer is great.. Been using for a couple weeks, I was using macro tracker for just over a year and couldn’t justify paying for another year. Features on here for free are amazing and on par with what macro tracker offers.

Accurate numbers!. I love that Cronometer’s calorie counts, etc., are actually accurate and tested. You can trust them! I also like that the app lets you record food in a number of different ways: grams, teaspoon, tablespoon, cup, etc. — the choices are all there for you on a drop-down, for most foods.

Entering food quantity gets you your nutritional intake info. I love this app! It is a one stop shop that helps in so many ways. Understanding my nutritional food values has been helpful to know. I can modify to be closer to getting all my nutritional bag each day. It is also super fast and easy when it comes to scanning bar code labels. I am grateful that this app is connected to Diet vs. Disease program. I believe it will be a game changer for my gut health! Thank you to those who created it.

Find food allergies, feel better, improve your life. This app is much more than a calorie counter. I input my meals and biometrics daily and then export the data every once in a while so that I can look for correlations between what I eat and how I feel. I’ve been able to make a few key correlations and change my eating habits accordingly. As a result, my sense of well-being is better. The application also allows me to monitor my nutritional intake daily to ensure I keep nutritional intake in check (fiber, fat, etc). It’s a great application that will make your life better if you put in the time. Get the app and use it, good luck!

Absolutely love this app!!. I love how in depth it is. Easy to use, thorough and informative.

Have to manually force sync to Apple Health…. It does not sync automatically to Apple Health… you have to go to every day on the diary and swipe down to refresh the day, only then it will sync… have to do that for every single day…

Great App. I’ve used various similar apps in the past and Cronometer is definitely the best with great colour charts and accurate nutritional information. It makes losing weight almost a fun experience!

Widget. Please make your widgets more interactive and informative by at least adding barcode function like Fitness pal did and your app will be perfect😩 otherwise I’m absolutely in love! Your app has much more scientific approach than other apps, you track lots of nutrients and cite the sources of data which is exactly what I was looking for! The main complaint is your marketing department😅 I can see some lack of having your customer in mind. For example, in terms of widgets they look quite random (medium widget adds no value comparing to small, it’s just more stretched…) + it was confusing at first why the app told me I burned 2000 kcal already and how is it calculated, and I had to read your article to figure out that I should put my activity level to sedentary so that I can log activities myself.

Fabulous!. Really great app. So many free features. The barcode reader is such a game changer. My menopausal self is using the Galveston setting and it’s so nice to not have to do any of the macro math!!

Great app. Love the features and easy use . Definitely worth a try

Complete and easy. I love it because it offers a very complete nutritional analysis, and for the day to day I very seldom run into a food, basic ingredient or prepared, that is not in chrono already. That saved me time. The custom recipe feature is easy to use, and it connects to my iPhone to import exercise calories. Finally, my dietitian recommended and we are able to use it together to analyses and adjust my diet

Great app, but not able to access because of “Internet access”. I’ve used this app previously (love it), and am ready to do another 3 month cycle of tracking. Each time I try to log in through the app, it keeps saying I’m unable to because of internet access. This should not be an error - I’ve tried through data only, wifi only, deleting and re-downloading the app, restarting my phone. Nothing worked. I tried accessing my account through safari, the server was blocked. I was able to log on through my desktop and access the app through my iPad. So I’m assuming something is wrong with the app functionality on my phone? But nothing has changed since I last used the app. I tried to click through to “app support” but am not able to because I get the same “server is blocked” message. Can someone help me?

Alcohol. This app was working but now it’s adding random alcohol amounts to my daily totals... even to days that have already been completed.

Won’t let me sign up. Keyboard won’t let me enter anything for email or password. Pls fix.

Better than mfp. Not perfect but great features and way less ads than mfp and a lot more complete in its free version.

Good App. I just downloaded the app and find it difficult to setup. Will not work with my apple watch; easily scans food labels and bar codes. However, I am looking for a simple app to add the foods that I consume daily and not finding this easy other than setting up for what meal. Eg., breakfast lunch and so on. Paid for the subscription but will look for something more user friendly. No, I did not going to contact support. Too bad, I had high hopes and no need for a reply asking me to contact support. Just make it easier to use. Froze up during initial setup.

Food tracking made easy. App links directly to my whoop, make managing my weight east

Subscription. Extremely disappointed. Years ago when there was a free and paid app I got the paid app to have all the features. Went to use it again and now find out gold is a monthly fee?

Fantastic App. In mid April(2020) I decided to lose some weight. After research to understand Macros better, I was recommended Cronometer by a friend. By early August(2020) I lost 22lbs to be back down around 155lbs. I’ve found this app to be very helpful, and easy to use. I use it every day.

Amazing app. I am so grateful for this incredible easy free app. It is making tracking nutrition easy and quick.

Amazing tracker. Loving this tracker! It has pretty much all of the food brands I use and many different portion sizes to track to. The ability to make recipes so that it’s quicker to add next time is great too.

Won’t let me sign up. Hi! I can’t input my email or password it won’t let me type, please fix

Love this app!!!. Great app, I’ve even using it for over 3 years now and this is the only app I use to track my nutrition intake. No bugs, works great, very simple to use👌👍

6/5 stars. Everything MyFitnessPal has for their ridiculous subscription fee - for free! Scan barcodes, count calories - it has everything I need. If you’re really into counting macros or other things you may need the subscription, but the basic functionality is quite a bit and meets all my needs. THANK YOU for this awesome app!

Everything I need and more but still simple to use. Love your app, it is amazing and easy to use for how configurable it is! It’s doing everything I need right now and capable of much much more if my needs change in the future. Love the reports and customizable goals but my favourite feature is how the barcode scanner saves me tons of time tracking new foods.

Best food tracking app. I’ve been using this app for years and absolutely love it. Easy to use, large data base of foods and easy to add recipes. I love that it breaks down vitamins in the food as well. Best nutrition and food tracking app in my opinion.

Easy to use. This app has the largest food bank list to choose from. It’s easy, quick, precise and more importantly, it provides accurate information to maintain optimal health/weight/macros/glucose etc.

Simple and Eaay. Simple and Easy app which has every feature needed

Is a good app, but. I thought i found my app to replace my plate, but just in the last few weeks it has now become overloaded with ads. Even to the point to multiple times while entering data. Time to look for another app

Great app. Love the functionality of this app and how it gives you everything you need all in one place. Syncs great with my garmin watch to bring all my movement in so no second guessing calories burned. Great app

Extremely valuable tool. As I care about my health and food is medicine, Cronometer is an extremely valuable tool for tracking macro and micronutrients.

Great App. This is a great app with lots of comprehensive information. I’m giving it a 4 as I’m finding the latest update not as user friendly as previous versions. I’m wondering what the thought was behind taking away the option to copy an item from a previous day to the current day? Or is hidden/moved from it old location and now I can’t find it. And the time stamp clock - ugh - I’m not a fan of the dial mode that it now has. What was wrong with the clock face?

Exactly what I was looking for. Entering school to study dietetics and very thrilled to have found this app. It’s excellent. I’ll be purchasing the full version once I start in September. Glad the basic is free, it will help many people to reach their nutritional goals even if they don’t have any money to spare. Thank you for this app!

Great app. It’s missing many “restaurant” meals and I wish it would allow me to delete entries from the “all” list. Can you add Canadian restaurants like Kelsey’s, Montana’s,.Joeys’s , Harvey’s, East Side Mario’s, Moxie’s

Best app. Been looking for an app simply to count calories and track food/macros since the one I was using shut down. This one does exactly that but offers other services for free like fasting, tracking your work outs and writing notes through out the day. Highly recommend, easy to use app with a lot of free services.

Needs food updates. Needs more food updates and additions for the food section

Great app but the recent update broke the widgets on the Home Screen, the styling looks very weird. Title

Okay but needs work. One of the biggest issues for me is in the following scenario: When I add a food, something that has shown up in my recents since I've eaten it before, but is either too far down to scroll to find it or just simply isn't showing up in the Recent Foods list, I try to just search for it. Considering ive eaten it recently or eat it often, youd think it would've been the first thing to show up when searching for it. But usually it won't, and I have to scroll through my recents list to find it in some unusual order (if it's there), go through my past food logging days, or just re-scan it. Please make recent foods list have its own search bar or let it take priority when searching for a food.

Nutrition values help with food choices. I like Cronometer because of the nutrition values. It can be overwhelming at first. But after not too long I saw I only had a few weak spots. If I make sure to get potassium, folate, and E above 80% then everything else is above 100%. I make better and more informed food choices than with diet plans like WW or its knock-offs. I expect this will help me keep the weight off and feel healthy. My mom has kept off 30lbs for almost 10 years. She gained back weight and more with every other diet in her 30+ years of dieting. She credits the nutritional info because it helps her make better choices.

The Best Food Tracking App. I’ve used all the food tracking apps and this one is the best! I’ve used the free version for a year but more recently figured out how to copy from day to day, figure out a macros of one meal (or group of foods), and multi-add. These features just put this app above the rest! Super easy to find food items via scan or search (my husband has a TON of issues finding foods in his app). And if the food doesn’t exist in the database, it takes like 12 hours to add one! I also use the custom recipe portion a lot and although that was a bit confusing at first, I’ve mastered it as well!

Love and hate this one. I love that it shows the many different tracking options as I am using it for more tracing vitamins, protein, fiber than I do calories. I hate that you have to add one item at a time- at least on the free version. I eat a lot of the same things each day or within a week and not being able to add multiple things off the list at a time is extremely frustrating. It has kept me from using the app as I want to honestly. I don’t have the time to sit and individually add multiple things. Can this not be an option to be added? It’s been updated where you can delete multiple items at a time. What can’t you add multiple things that are already on your list?

Almost perfect. I was looking for an app that covers all the nutrition categories in the Health App. This one does and support got back to me within 24 hrs to explain how to make all those categories visible. So far it’s been pretty intuitive. My one gripe would be that certain drinks like flavored sparkling waters aren’t automatically counted as water. I get most sources likely don’t include the quantity of water in a product, but I think a close fix would be to have any product that states “sparking water” should just count toward the water goal based on volume derived from the ounces. Like if a product is 355 mL it should be 355 g water. I’ve managed to get this to work by making a copy of the drink and changing the water value manually.

Great app. I used to use MyFitnessPal and I thought it had lots of great features that I couldn’t get from another app, but the database was terribly inaccurate. But I switched to Cronometer and it does everything MyFitnessPal does and more, but it has a much more accurate database, with micronutrient details. I love that you can build recipes where an ingredient is another recipe. I also love that when you modify a recipe, it asks you whether you want to update existing entries or not. The web interface is as great as the mobile app, unlike MyFitnessPal, which has a nice app but unusable web interface. The recipe import works pretty well, and it’s easy to correct things. The only down side is that the database, while very accurate, is not as extensive. It’s pretty good for groceries, but it’s very frequently missing dishes that I eat at restaurants. I don’t expect it to cover every restaurant, but I would expect more dishes to be listed. Dishes generally aren’t listed unless you can buy them as prepackaged items from a supermarket. As a software engineer, I wish there were an API to write my own tools to read/update data.

Really like the app. Great app, databases are accurate for the food information, syncs with the services I need and does a great job of storing favorite foods and custom recipes. Has an issue with tracking calories burned, if you use Strava and Apple health it will double up on the calories burned. The total calories burned from Apple health do add the ones from Strava. Also if you do a walk with you Apple watch and record it there upload to Strava cronometer will think you did two separate workouts. It would be really simple to solve this issue if I can manually flag the exercise from Strava not to be counted towards the calories burned. I know my situation is weird since I want some of the Strava exercises to be counted and some not.

Needs streamlining. I do not eat the same menu every day. So using the “repeat previous day” option is not really a good option. I then have to go through and delete all the foods I didn’t eat. However, there are ingredients I do use frequently and chronometer doesn’t seem to keep a history of common foods you use…? Or I haven’t found it. On MyFitnessPal I can type it in and it’ll show up… or I can click on the food history and… I click it… entered into my food diary. Boom. Done. So far.. I’ve had to re-enter in every single ingredient I use over and over. Tedious. I love the scan feature but I don’t think I should have to re-scan everything repeatedly. There is a lot I like about chronometer but it’s just more time consuming for me to use.

Best nutrition tracker. So I waited sometime to get my overall thoughts on the app before just writing review on my first impressions. After using the app for quite some time this is definitely my favorite food tracking app. The main reason is if you are a nutrition freak like myself this app gives you an in detail breakdown of not only the macro nutrients which are your fats proteins and carbohydrates but it gives you your micro nutrients in great detail. I are used other macro counting trackers before but this one is definitely the best. Get itIf you’re concerned with your overall health andMicronutrient intake and not just macro nutrient intake

On track to be better than MyFitness. I have only been using this app a couple of weeks but I already prefer it over MFP. This is mainly due to the visual charts, the speed of scanning barcodes, and the amount of data and nutrition information for a scanned item. The later is huge. With MFP I was missing a large amount of nutritional information that was important for me to track due to all of the incorrect or incomplete items available. This app resolves that. Good job guys! Improvements: there are several things that can really make this app even better but my guess is that you are working on them already. It is also possible that some of these features are available, and that I just haven’t figured out how to do. 1. Ability to select multiple items at a time to add quickly to another day. If multiple items can be selected either in history, search results, or in Daily Summary, it would make it a lot faster to move or re-add items to another day. MFP does this to site an example. 2. Ability to automatically add certain items to each day. 3. More serving size options for food entries. For example: tablespoon or by item.

Quit wasting time looking and start tracking!. After trying numerous apps, this one has it all. I needed more detailed tracking and this one also has fasting options and three different levels of KETO. Plus anything you consume daily there is a select and add all of it at once instead of each item. Try the gold and if you like it. It’s worth it. Help is amazing and actually does correct the data if it is reported. Love the Oracle for selecting foods to reach those nutritional goals. You can also add your own recipes and get the nutritional information for the recipe by serving size.

Don’t waste your money.. I tried this app (gold) on the encouragement of a nutritionist. The only nice thing about it was the ability to scan the barcode on some items. The oracle is neigh on useless. It’s a lot of work. You can’t download outside recipes. When entering recipes or ingredients, or foods; not all of the measurements are available. It’s all decimals and it wouldn’t always register the entire amount I entered. For example; .25 would change to .2. 1/8 was impossible such as 1/8 of a tsp. That’s 0.125 and it wouldn’t stay .125. If you don’t have a food scale, forget it. Some basic items didn’t exist, only a brand of something. (Anaheim peppers. Only Michelle’s is available. I didn’t buy Michelle’s Anaheim peppers!) Can’t get a refund. Didn’t even use it for a month. Purchased through App Store so Cronometer will not refund my money. Apple says this subscription doesn’t qualify for a refund. Worst purchase ever.

Ex longtime myfitnesspal user. This app is a great alternative to myfitness pal, which i used for 3 years. I finally decided to switch when they made the barcode scanner a paid feature, then wanted to charge more than my gym membership every month. This app is almost as comprehensive as mfp, except for restaurants. Maybe it’s a region thing, but I can’t find anything for the restaurants I’ve tried. I don’t eat out a lot, so that’s not a dealbreaker, but it does annoy my wife when she’s ready to order and I’m still figuring out what fits my macros. I’m still on the free version, but for less than $10/month, I’m really tempted by the auto import function if it’s half as cool as it sounds. I may even subscribe just to pitch in towards this great nutrition tracker.

Best tracking app out there!. From someone who had used My Fitness Pal for quite sometime, the switch to Cronometer was difficult at first (most change is) but it didn’t take me long to see the light! Logging is so easy & being able to edit copies of certain foods makes it so nice and user friendly. I recommend this app to anyone. The fact that everything can be measured in grams and I can see all my daily targets and it even tells me where my micronutrients came from in the food that I logged! I absolutely love it and love when I see there’s an upgrade because you know it’s only going to make it that much better!!!! Thanks for existing!!

The only tracker worth using!. I’ve used several other nutrition tracking apps, including the ever popular MFP. But they fail if you’re interested in tracking anything beyond calories. That’s because the other apps allow users unrestricted and unregulated input, and most users are too lazy to actually type in correct macros, never mind micronutrients. if the food you want to enter isn’t already in their database, this app automatically populates macro and micro nutrition from a photo of the nutrition panel! And if you do find the rare mistake or omission, just send a note to support and they’ll get right on it and then let you know it’s been fixed. Keep up the great work, Cronometer crew!

UPDATE - FIXED! (Ads Ruined the App). The developers responded to say this issue was a bug. I am so happy to be able to use Chronometer again! Truly the best tracking app available! (Previous review: used the free version of the app for a long time. It’s changed so that every time I want to log a single food I have to sit through a one-minute ad for some horrible game app. Thanks so much for ruining the free version and rendering it unusable. Have no problem with seeing ads in the margin or maybe a 10-second ad but what used to take 10 minutes to log a day’s food now takes half an hour. Time to find another app.)

Data Permissions 👎🏻. The app works great, buy a scale and do everything in grams. I pay for Gold, and the info is helping me see my macros and micros. I also can't select which units I want to measure in. There's a soy sauce that only allows tablespoons like it's 1982. I want to use grams because then I can just use 1 scale to measure everything, instead of different measuring spoons and also a scale. The scale is also more accurate. The data you have to give over is ridiculous though. No need for that, especially with a paid account. Edit to address developer reply: By "the data you have to hand over," I mean the personal privacy data. There is absolutely no reason an app like this need all those privacy permissions. They absolutely could make a version of this app that doesn't require all that. As a user that pays for gold, I should have a version that requires no personal data permissions whatsoever. I saw that the developer replied to my original review, so I know they are reading this. Please make a version that doesn't use any personal data permissions! Because really this is just another tracker, it's nothing special. I can't even select which units I want to measure in. For example, soy sauce is tsp only, I can't use grams. So I'd like to be able to just do everything in geams s

convenient but issues after update. I like the convenience and ease of adding foods to the diary. I am not forced to choose a meal to categorize the food eaten. however, this last update has caused problems. I workout 7-10 hours a week at moderate to high intensity. my daily caloric suggestion was around 1500 calories a day (I set my own macros). after the update, it changed my calorie goal to around 1000 calories a day. that doesn’t make sense and if someone was trying to follow the caloric guidelines they would be in some trouble. my hour-ish long workout this morning burned 800 calories. there’s no way it’s health to only eat 200 calories more than you are burning with exercise alone. I do have it set for an aggressive weight loss, but 1000 calories or less a day is not realistic for someone who is working out.

Cronometer- Great Nutritional App!!!. I have downloaded many apps to my iPhone and there are three of them that I use every day and that are my favorites. One of them is cronometer. Many years ago I used to own a different nutritional app, but cronometer is at least 100 times better. It is very easy to use and their customer service department is very responsive. It supplies all the nutritional information that anyone would want to review. I could go on and on about all the great features that come with this app, but that would take several pages. If you want to track your nutrition then this is the only app to download.

A bit clunky, but SO comprehensive. I’ve used My Fitness Pal for YEARS and never found an app that compares. This one does. I chose it because I wanted to track my micronutrients. It does that SO much better than MFP. MFP has a few features I wish this had which makes MFP easier to use (multi-select adding of food, saving things as “meals” vs “recipes”, auto-filling the ingredients of recipes from a link, etc.). If those features were added to Cronometer, I don’t think I’d have any reason to recommend MFP ever. Anyway, I love this as it is. I’m a data nerd, so not only seeing more data is amazing, but I can EXPORT IT and that just gives me chills. Bought the Gold plan because I want to support the team so you can keep improving the app and hopefully make it less clunky to use. ;)

Recent update ruined meal updating. Before today, I was able to go into a meal that I had tracked for the day and edit it if I need to (IE, remove food items/ingredients from a custom meal right in my daily diary). Now I can no longer do that, and can’t even see the ingredients in a meal from my diary. That makes it very hard to track your calories if you plan your meals in the app a day in advance. If you plan a meal that uses lots of ingredients, and then the next day you want to go into your daily diary and make sure you’re accurately preparing your meal, you can’t anymore. The custom meals tab works if the meal actually saved like it’s supposed to, or if you haven’t modified it in some way from the saved version, but that is also inconsistent.

Needs work. I do like that this app has so much nutritional info provided. BUT it looks messy and needs to look a bit more “clean”. I use my net diary pro as well to log exercise and foods. The charts on my net diary are easy to read, easier to log foods, more scanned items available, AND my calories are off by 350 between the two apps!! That’s a GREAT variance! And I put it the exact same foods on both- yes counting macros, net carbs and so forth. I feel more comfortable with net diary pro but my provider wants me to use this one. I would like to continue using Cronometer but please make it easier to use when selecting foods, more items read with barcode, the charts easier to understand or throw in pointers on using certain features, the orange color is too bold. Clicking from one thing to another or how to add food etc is lengthy. I appreciate the details of this app, but it needs A LOT of user friendly clean ups.

Excellent useful app!!. Food nutritional values vary considerably, especially fruits and vegetables, depending upon freshness, soil, cooking, etc., and who really knows about the best macro percentages and vitamin & mineral optimums. Really, a lot of it is just a guess. But, if you choose your guess, Cronometer is a very efficient and easy to work with tool. I’ve used a few other ones, and Cronometer is better, for me. I’m a bit weird, because I eat the same thing every day. I’ve figured out my "ideal" diet, and I like to minimalist cooking and concern about food, so I just stick to my plan, which is done up in Cronometer. I don’t mess with it every day, just when I want to make modifications. It’s comprehensive and intelligent.

Fantastic Food Tracker. I don’t often write reviews for Apps but felt compelled for this one. Heard about it on one of Andrew Huberman podcasts and loved it so much I paid for Gold. Tracking food is so easy. Scan barcodes and the number of data sources Chronometer taps into usually ensures there’s data. It’s so easy to copy entries from previous days. Create meals for easy addition each day. Amazing macronutrient information. An extremely intuitive UI. Everything I want to do someone had already though of. Can highly recommend this app! If you’re calorie counting, tracking macros or some other dietary goals, this app is amazing!!!

Exactly what I was looking for - SIBO and RA. I have Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth and Rheumatoid Arthritis. My diet is limited and I have to use some supplements to make sure I’m getting a full micro nutrient profile on a daily basis. With this app, I can enter in the foods that I eat on each meal and it calculates my nutrient and mineral content for me. What a relief! It also calculates protein, fat, and carbohydrate intakes. It took a little trial and error to understand the easiest ways to use it but now that I understand, it’s simple. Sometimes the food I eat isn’t listed (boiled skinned red potatoes, for example) but these foods are also not listed on any other nutritional database I can find, so I don’t fault the app for that. What’s nice is that I can add the food manually (assuming I can find the nutritional information somewhere) and the app will save the information and treat it as any other food listed. I can’t think of anything I would change about the app, although I did just start using it today, so this review may be premature. So far, it’s exactly what I was looking for.

Stellar product!. I’ve used Cronometer for well over ten years. That’s ten years, or more, every day. The product only gets better and better (especially in the last couple of years; they have been working hard to provide substantial updates routinely now). Yes, there are other apps out there but the amount of detail that Cronometer provides is outstanding. Bar-code scanning is something that they’ve had forever, while MyFitnessPal, provided it but then took it away, as a way to force you to pay for a service. I’m a personal trainer, with more than thirteen years of experience, and this is the app that I recommend to all of my clients.

The best if you care about accuracy. For background, I’m a figure bodybuilder so tracking both nutrition (micronutrients) and calories is important to me. I feel like I’ve used every tracker on the market and have always been disappointed by the wild inaccuracies in the user-entered databases that junk everything up. Cronometer stands out because it verifies user submitted data to actual nutrition labels. It also has full (70+ nutrient) listings for whole foods like meats and vegetables that are derived from government databases. I like this app so much I have a gold subscription and have for years, it’s never done me wrong for bulking or cutting and helps me keep on specific goals that I need for athletic performance, like individual electrolytes and choline. The ability to look at your average intake for specific macronutrients and micronutrients over time is excellent for finding nutritional holes in your diet. I recommend Cronometer to everyone who asks me for tracking advice. It’s feature rich and hands down the best app out there.

The most accurate, but could use a little more features. This is the most accurate calorie tracker I’ve come across. I like that it’s not over flooded with inaccurate user entries. I like they finally added a dark mode. My favorite part is creating a recipe, and the app will automatically add the weight for the whole recipe so you can get it a good calorie count when measuring out your food. You don’t have to do a lot of math yourself to figure it out, the app does it for you. This is my go to app for tracking calories. I hope they continue to implement new features and maintain what makes this app great at the same time. Keep up the good work. Ps a widget would be cool to quickly add or scan something. Also a quick add feature for adding only calories quickly without having to log it.

Keeps getting better and ethical developer. I can not speak highly enough about this app. I recommend it to anyone wanting to track their nutrition for any reason. I have tried them all and I just keep coming back to Cronometer. I’ve had it since it’s first few years and it just gets better and better over time. I was so excited to find that it now defaults to the last quantity I used with a food item. This makes entering information even faster. Hats off to the developer. This one is truly a gem!!! Also, thanks for not getting crazy and adding so many useless features that the important stuff gets buried. Sadly that has been the demise of many a good app. The only thing I wish is that I could have the ratios at the top again. I check my Omega ratio regularly and it’s a bit of a pain now. I manipulated the daily amounts so I could see the ration right in the first part so it’s not a biggie but having them right on top again would be grand.

Loving the app! My wife urged me to join her. We both love it!!. My wife was introduced to this app through the Lahey Lifestyle Health Weight Loss Clinic prgm. She was amazed at how detailed this app is and how easy it is to use. It really does teach you where you are getting your nutrients from and what you are lacking in because you not only can see the totals of calories and other macronutrients, you can also see the break down of the nutrients in each food including the minerals and vitamins. It is very easy to use. My wife has the premium subscription and I have the free version. Both are great!

Simple and Effective. I’ve tried more than 5 calorie counter apps at this point, most of which provide the same basic functionality. This one however is far and away the best executed I’ve seen. Calling up foods from the database is fast and does not seem to be as buried in the junk entries many other apps have. When building recipes it provides a great interface to break out servings and the related macro-micro nutrients. And for some reason that eludes me this seems like the only app that can actually track potassium. It’s a simple, well designed and well executed app, best-in-class.

Best Nutrition Tracker. I have been using Cronometer for several years now. It is hands down the best tracker out there. The paid version has some perks, but the free version is more than adequate for most purposes. I am a number’s person and seeing all of my nutritional information is very valuable. Cronometer is a vital part of my health as I eat keto so it’s key for me to have everything I track available at a glance. I have tried other nutrition apps like MyFitnessPal, LoseIt, and Carb Manager, however they do not offer the amount of data that’s available in Cronometer. I highly recommend both the app and the website if you are looking for precise tracking for all your needs.

With this app, food can become my multi-vitamin. This is THE VERY BEST food - vitamin - mineral tracking app that I have ever used. Through using this app, you can eat healthy foods as a substitute for multivitamins (which should be the goal to aim for) because it shows you the exact vitamin and mineral content for the exact about of food that you are consuming. It’s amazing how easy it is for me to hit my daily percentage needs for minerals such as copper by eating a few nuts... yet I would never accurately know which minerals I lacked vs which I was hitting if I never plugged them into this app. Obviously, the developers thought deeply about this app and it truly shows. Folks, I HIGHLY recommend using it! For your health!

I like it!. I have only been using this app for about 2 weeks. I have been trying to gain weight without any success, so this app has been a godsend for me. I have set a calorie goal to reach each day. I am now aware of how much I actually need to eat and which foods provide me with the nourishment I need. It seems to be helping already. I love that so many foods are included in the data base, so it’s easy to log them. It gives very detailed analyses, which I am still learning to interpret. But I now have hope that I will gain the weight back. Thank you for making this available. 5 stars!

New Update with Nutrition Scores. I’ve been using Cronometer Gold since the beginning of 2021 and am loving it. The barcode scanner is an awesome tool and being able to create your own recipes makes it easier to add in homemade dishes. The app also boasts an impressive array of nutrition information. The new Nutrition Scores feature expands on that and has made this app even better. The only downside to that new feature is that a lot of foods don’t have updated nutrition information. For example, if I add carrots the Antioxidants panel doesn’t show any increase in lutein or beta carotene. There’s no way to add it manually, either, other than making a new custom food which is a bit tedious.

The Best Calorie tracker EVER. I’ve been searching for a simple easy to use calorie tracker for years. I’m not even sure how Cronometer got on my homescreen. Desperate to loose only 10 lbs I ordered 2 month of Nutrisystem which started me on counting calories. In the middle of the first month The Cronometer icon jumped out at me and I started recording calories on this sooo easy to use app. Finding foods to calibrate and record by Brands, Common, Custom, Supplements, etc is made easy with the scanning ability. I don’t use the various possibilities on this app, I just record my daily calories to stick to under 1200. I can’t praise this app enough.

Feedback. Love it. I lost 87 lbs (247 > 160, 6' male) calorie counting using another app. I bought lifetime for it and am happy to have supported them, but now that I'm a healthy weight, I see what a big difference weight made and wonder how much better I'd feel if I was able to meet all my nutrient needs from food. Cronometer seems to be the only one doing micronutrient tracking, so kudos and thanks! That said, it could use some changes: 1. Doesn't feel like a native app. The UI is very utilitarian and doesn't feel joyful to use. It also crashes very easily on an iPhone 12. I have to force close it after each few items I add to keep it from lagging to the point I can't go to Home Screen. Almost like I'm running out of storage, but I have 20 GB free. 2. Better support HealthKit. When my old app adds calories to Apple's Health, it adds a bunch of HK fields including the name of the item and the meal. Cronometer doesn't have any of that. Data portability is important to me. 3. Have a trial 1-2 weeks of Gold. I'd rather not waste on 1 month if I'm going to like it and want to buy the 1 year.

Need options for different diets. I really like this app. I started using it because I was diagnosed with anemia and wanted better macro/ micro nutrient tracking. I used to use my fitness pal for tracking calories, but that wasn’t giving me the info I needed. I’m happy to report I am no longer anemic after using this app to track my iron. I also get kidney stones, so I love using it for tracking sodium too. I am a vegetarian working towards WFPB (whole food plant based). My biggest pet peeve with using this app is when I’m searching for a food and it gives me all the processed and meat options first. For example today I searched for a potato and the first few options were potato Tots, fried potatoes and boiled with out skins. I had to scroll a ways before I found whole potato with skins. I also search for ethnic foods a lot, like coconut korma, but chicken version comes up first. So what I would really love is a setting where I could say I’m vegetarian or WFPB and those search results would come to the top or filter out meat or dairy versions all together. Keep up the good work! This app is really great.

Almost perfect. I upgraded to gold so I never have to see that carbs guy ad again. As for the app, I love all the tracking this app does, but I’m still struggling to get the reports I want. Example: daily calories vs goal is great, but the weekly view all I get is a bar graph. I want to be able to have a macro weekly calories vs goal to allow for more daily variance. Would also love to see weight loss goal projections based on current calorie deficits. When will I hit my goal weight? For the micronutrients this app tracks way more than I even expected. I find myself getting too much info on those reports. Can I get a more rolled up version? Possibly with recommendations on what is too high or too low on one east to read screen? Low: B12 , high sodium, etc Only other note is for the categories, can it default to Breakfast, lunch, or dinner based on time of day instead of always uncategorized? Frustrating extra clicks on that every time. Also should be a standard feature. Not sure why it’s gold level. Overall B+ Great app that does things other apps don’t. Well worth the gold upgrade too.

First Week Review. Chose this app after trying several others. What won me over was the food library. I started food dairies on several of the apps in parallel . I eventually bailed on all except Cronometer mostly because of limited food libraries. For me for an app to be useful food entries need to be quick and painless. This app exceeds my expectations there. It’s layout is 95% intuitive which is very good, no one likes to read manuals or shouldn’t need to. I know this is a pricey app but purchased on a yearly basis is not that much money and personally my health is worth it. Maybe once my new vegan diet becomes second nature I’ll drop the app or maybe not, but until then it’s going to be instrumental in ensuring I get balanced nutritional intake.

Privacy invasion, even with a gold subscription. I paid for the yearly subscription to avoid ads and support the developers, but they still take your info and sell it to advertisers. How do I know this? I scanned in a niche product that picked up from the store, never doing any online shopping for it. A little more than an hour later, I see that same product in an ad on a site I was visiting. I then went to the terms and conditions and saw that they share your info with advertisers. Really scummy when they have access to your health info along with double-dipping paying subscribers. Shame because it’s a really a good app. Going to cancel my subscription and look elsewhere.

Decent Calorie Counter for Macros except for Widget. The app does a good job of letting you track macros for free but the macronutrient widget could use improvement by showing grams for your macros instead if kcals. Most meal plans that I’ve seen express target macros in grams instead of calories. Would be great to see these at a glance but instead you have to click through into the app and swipe through a carousel to find this information. Otherwise, the app is perfect by providing all the necessities for tracking daily macros/calories for free. The database of foods is decently large but not as big as the other food tracking apps. I’ll stick with this app because it shows macros for free but would really love it if the widget were more useful.

Very fast and responsive customer service. I really appreciate how responsive the people are at Cronometer. I’ve emailed about 4-5x to ask questions about features or make a suggestion, and I’ve received kind and VERY thorough responses each time. One rep even went into my account and set up a custom graph for me to track my nutrition. I really appreciate the very humane and educated approach they have with their customers!! The customer service makes all the difference when paying for an app like this. FYI, I bought the Gold version after using MFP and another keto app for several years. I’m glad I made the switch to Cronometer. Very intuitive app. I like the way they treat their customers. Happy to support this company.

Just keeps getting better. I started using this app months ago when another app I had used for years started getting ad-bloaty. Cronometer is so no-nonsense, number-rich, and easy to use, I’ve been logging regularly without reminders. I love how it integrates with my Fitbit, so I can set my goal and don’t have to log data in the Fitbit app and don’t have to log workouts in Cronometer. Every food entry being verified cuts out the anxiety I feel about someone’s custom entry messing up my health plan. Last, I just noticed the other day it’s smart enough to backfill micronutrients from like ingredients- giving a complete data set. Woo hoo!

Love the App for keto. Love that it lets you set goals for macros and use net carbs. Also love the copy paste feature so you don’t have to enter the same foods every day. All my Fitbit data comes over as well so the two apps work well together. The food look up serving options on some foods is limited so sometimes have to use oz or tsp and convert when you really measured in a cup but cup is not listed as a serving option. I really prefer the previous version over this current one. They put the macro details (which I use often) further in the app so it takes a couple more clicks and scrolling to get to them, Bummer. I also wish it had more trend graphs, but hey it’s free so I’m not going to complain too much!

Cronometer- the best. I have used this app for a couple of years and happily pay for the gold version. I can’t say enough about how great this is. I have osteoporosis so I am tracking my calcium as getting it through food is the best way rather than taking a pill. I amazed at how user friendly it is. I’ve added my supplements, used custom recipes and it all works seamlessly. I’m old so tech doesn’t come easy to me but this app is intuitive. It’s been a lifesaver for my husband as he has to eat a very strange diet and we are now able to see if he’s getting his right nutrition. I know this seems crazy that I’ve gone on and on about this but it is the best app and the few times I’ve needed help, they are so responsive.

The All-In-One App I Needed!. I’ve been using MyFitnessPal and a fasting app to keep track of my intermittent fasting, and while I love both of those apps, the fact that Cronometer has an option to keep track of fasts and set a fasting schedule is amazing! Being able to condense everything into one database will be extremely helpful, and I’m more than happy to pay the price because IF is a lifestyle for me, not a diet. I also struggle with nutrient deficiencies, so being able to set a goal of what to consume each day is great! I’ll finally be able to keep track of foods that give me the most B vitamins and zinc. Overall an amazing nutrition and food tracking app!

I love all the information !. I am so pleased to have such a detailed app with all the nutrient bar graphs and what foods gave them to you. each nutrient has suggestions of what to eat to get more of something you are low on, and there are great descriptions with each nutrient of what it does for your health. I am not only meeting my goals for weight loss, but learning so much better WHAT to eat to maximize my overall nutrition. it is SO easy to enter my activity as well, not just exercise, but yard work and household chores, etc, to balance what I eat with what I do. easy to enter my own custom recipes as well! WAY TO GO, CRONOMETER!

Very detailed and feature rich. I started using Cronometer because I wanted to track amino acid intake. I was vegan and training for Ironman so I was really trying to stay on top of my protein. Ultimately I went back to eating meat because I couldn’t get enough protein to sustain my training. But Cronometer helped me see that clearly. It does a great job reporting macros and micros. One thing I really like is how it shows the balance between complimentary nutrients where you need to have a ratio between them. An example is Omega 3’s and Omega 6’s. There are a ton of features to explore and help you tailor your diet to exactly what you need.

Love this app. I’ve tried a few times to count my macronutrients on my own with little success, and I usually get burnt out after a few days of crunching numbers. This app is awesome and makes it really easy to track exactly how much of each macro I’m getting every day and hit my goals for each with a lot less stress than I’ve gotten from looking up each individual food and doing the math. Ever since I started this app I’ve been noticing a huge difference in how I feel after each meal/day and the numbers on the scale, definitely would recommend if you’re working towards a fitness goal or if you just want to know more about what you put in your body!
