Worst APP ever. This app deserves zero stars. The first Time I tried to get a cash advance it kept Saying it didn’t see my deposits when they were clearly in my account. Reached out to tech support and it was going well until different tech supports were involved. They asked me to provide screenshots of my deposits which I did as well as who it’s from which was my employer. The whole reason for the screenshot was to prove that the deposits were in my account and recent since the system could not detect it. The last rep was oblivious to the entire support ticket between myself and his team members..asked me the same questions, didn’t sound like he even took the chance to read through the transcripts. Been going back and forward for about a week to get this before the holiday and now someone else tells me that they can’t accept the screenshots and that the money isn’t in my account!!!! Who are you to tell me what I have in my account when all screenshots were provided and where in the policy does it say screenshots can’t be provided when there is a technical issue with the app!!! It’s madness, it shouldn’t be this hard to get a cash advance when the proof is there but your app isn’t working. I’m uninstalling and moving on, seriously worst app ever.

Honest review from a struggling social worker. Hey all, Times are tough and I have a predisposition to be irresponsible with money. A couple years back a got sober and noticed some of those addictive behaviors showing up in different parts of my life- in this case my finances. Empower has tools to help educate people on savings, banking, and finance 101. With this app I’m regaining confidence in my purchases and saving ability. While learning more about responsible finances my roommate lost her job and was unable to pay the total amount of her side of rent. I didn’t budget for this- with their cash advance I was able to help out and with the educational material I’ve engaged with I feel confident having uncomfortable financial conversations with the people in my life. I was able to figure out an acceptable payment plan for my roommate where it wouldn’t burden either of us while she paid me back. Great app.

DO NOT USE. Worst app ever. I used them for 9 months. Fairly consistently. I always paid on time. Tipped. Etc. Then I had an issue with my bank account. I contacted Earnin and explained that the money would not be in my account and I needed to push my payment back a couple weeks. It had never happened before. They refused and said they had already started the process of debiting the money and couldn’t stop it…. And I should have asked them sooner to push the payment back. I would have loved to but unfortunately hackers don’t give advance notice before they hack your bank account. 🙄I told them the money wouldn’t be there and I would be charged a fee. I got disconnected from the chat 5 times…. Then was told if the money wasn’t there it would be returned to them and if I was charged a fee to contact them. Well the payment wasn’t returned and I was charged a fee. I contacted them and was basically told tough crap. There is nothing we can do and I didn’t meet the criteria to have my bank fee reimbursed but no one would tell me what those criteria were. I will never use them again. Dave is way better and I never have had an issue with them.

Love this. I’ve tried other apps like this but they either didn’t raise my amounts or charged an arm and a leg but this one so far has been up front about the charges and after I paid twice they raised my amount which was so helpful at that time and I also use their savings feature and before I knew it I had a few hundred dollars out away which was also amazing. I really like how now you can choose the amount you need you don’t have to take the whole loan if you don’t need it and I love that. I also had some issues with my email and was locked out of my account and at first I was upset I couldn’t just reach a live person but I followed all the steps and they literally fixed my account and had me back in it within 30 minute last on a Sunday night so I’m very happy and will continue to be a faithful customer and all my other apps have been deleted and I tell all my friends because with the way things are right now we all need a little help once in a while and this app has really pulled through for me every time I’ve needed it

Horrible Advances Changing. You pay for this membership services with your loan and bank connection to this app and it’s so annoying when it goes from 150$-250 dollars sometimes and now back to 75$ dollars when I still have funds in my account and it does me no good to barrow ever again from this app if this keeps happening this has been 3 times already when it’s new year’s today now when I just paid this app 260$ dollars back with the fees and it never can stay accurate or anything and i always have my account in the positive so I’m not sure why it keeps changing because it’s doing the same thing for my grandma too we barrow pay it back on time just to be broke and barley able to barrow anything back because it’s more in fees than the loan is worth now and I’m always paying it back on time with a day early now putting my account in the negative always on Thursday’s now just because of y’all not charging on the right payday

Empower: online banking and services. Empower has helped me keep track of my spending and when I have been short on money at first the cash advance they offered me wasn’t really that much but I accepted it and repaid so the next time I needed another cash advance they were here to help.. If you are in need of a larger lump sum this isn’t the app for you however if $25 your first advance would help along with a tracker to help you see what you are spending and bills you are paying then I recommend Empower. they also have an excellent customer service to chat with online if any questions you may have. Empower offers an online checking and savings account also. These accounts grow interest to help save even more with access immediately to both accounts whenever you need to deposit, withdraw. Track. Or even ask any questions 24/7.. Thanks emperor for your service and trusting me with the cash advance offer.

Disappointed. The app was very intriguing to me as a college student, as I obviously am in need of extra cash all the time. But, I did all the steps, paid my $8, and was approved for a cash advance. I was super excited. To which I proceeded with my request for a cash advance. At this point at the end of the process, the app proceeded to tell me my card was not the card linked to my bank account. I have 1 card for my 1 bank account. This was no error on my end, and when I talked to the robot about it they were of no help, as you can't actually type out what you need help with. Overall very upsetting with the how the app ran, and the customer support that was provided. I will say, it may work well for other users without my specific issue. But, I unfortunately had my specific issue. For anyone looking for an EASY cash advance I HIGHLY recommend Brigit !!!! No credit check and no interest fees!! This is not an add, just wanted to offer up an app I like for people who found this app not helpful.

Pleasantly surprised!!. I am surprised but happy for the app being a success. I thought honestly it was going to be like the first time I signed up a 1 or 2 years ago but then closed my account because I paid a subscription fee for 2 months and never received any advance since I was only able to take out$10 even though I was making $1800 bi weekly. This time around I have my check going to 2 accounts 80% in one and 20% in another so I connected the 1 with 80% and I said it wasn’t surprised when it told me it couldn’t recognize any reoccurring payments for direct posits even though on my account dec, Ashford clearly shows the name of my employer, and deposited direct deposit even said direct deposit next to the employer name! So I was going to close the account again today and when I thought I connect my second account with 20% of my check first just to see what happens since I was being told I was already approved for $25 but after connecting the second account recognize the checks that I have direct deposit it and I actually approval for $75!!! So now I’m going to keep my account open for now. Thank you for partially fixing the system.

Genius Banking for Millennials. Initially, I have been Using this Bank for a few Months Now, I admire when I use an ATM, this Bank give me back the Fees that, the ATM Charge me., so please keep up the great Work. Furthermore, when I need assistance, please respond within a timely manner, The previous Bank you guys were using the Deposited $9989 dollars within my Account, then I wrote you guys I never received a response for weeks. Moreover, this incident was an internal error on you guys part. Therefore, the bank should give me the Funds instead give me the funds. Moreover, I hope this does not ever happened again., Thanks for swishing Banks Partners. 👑👏🏾👏🏾💯, continue to provide us with 1.00 yield, a lot has happen with this my accounts now you guys are living another Bank, I’m confuse with the Switch. This New Bank is doing a good Job. Just continue allow us to receive or Funds, thank you for letting us know about the switch of Banks.

Good but…. I wish I could be approved for more than $10. That amount is laughable. I’ve repaid my advances each time and I clearly have a verifiable source of income as well as random payments received. But every penny counts so does come in handy when I’m down to only a few bucks after paying off bills and debts. I can at least get me something for lunch to hold me off just long enough until I am able to withdraw from DailyPay (which I wish Empower was able to verify as being a portion of my paycheck). Empower only considers money received on pay day minus money taken out via DailyPay and other sources of income. so it looks as if I’m being paid way less than I actually do. Apart from this, Empower does indeed work and also has an option for instant advances using my linked debit card; a feature that I really love. Thanks Empower team!

Don’t trust this app!! Use Earnin or try doing some Instacart orders!! TRUST ME. I downloaded the app for the cash advance feature. Every time I tried to use it, it would force close. as a result, I tried to close my account with this app because it doesn’t work.. the app would not allow me to remove my bank account because of the subscription so I canceled this subscription, I went back to try to close the account and it wouldn’t let me remove my bank info because of the subscription that I already canceled. The app will not allow you to cancel your subscription immediately it makes you wait 14 days and because of this you cannot remove your bank information…. It is super odd to me that there is no option to cancel your subscription immediately and remove your bank information immediately. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not not comfortable with an app that I’m not using having access to my bank account.. as we all know pretty much every bank helps with credit building so outside of the advance, this app is useless. I 10 out of 10 recommend Dave or Earnin.

1/2 star rating..dissatisfied and disappointed. I made a cash app transfer of $94 to a friend. Cash app canceled because the ID I used was not valid. I reached out and got a valid ID to resend. This time it failed. This all took place on Friday May 24. I reached out to Empower and was told it takes a few days for the money to be returned. By mid week I’m reaching out again and was told there didn’t seem to be available funds for that transaction on Friday. Not true. When I pointed that out to CS I’m told they have to look into it to see what is going on. Tomorrow is May 31 and I still don’t have my money back into my account. How complicated is this? Checks and balances. Since you can’t overdraft and all transactions are listed on dashboard why is it difficult to determine what happened? By checks and balances I should have a balance and I don’t. In all of my years of banking I’ve never encountered this. CS is nonchalant, it may not be important to them however it is to me. I’ve been using Chime bank. I will be going back to Chime. I had misplaced my Chime debit card and had to wait for a replacement so I thought I’d try Empower. I should have just had my DD put on my Cash App card. I give 1/2 a star. I’m so disappointed. I would steer clear of such a bank that takes this long to resolve an issue as simple as this!

Best App for help.. I just recently signed up via all of the google questions that can be asked with wondering how do I get money right away. It suggested a number of apps but the app seemed the midst appealing, being that I only have to add my debit card and will receive help. IT WORKS!!!! You download this app and attach your account not only does it help you with your spending, it helps you in actual life right away, based upon who you are and what you have done in the pass in order for you to need an advance. It doesn’t look at your previous expenditures and says NO. It actually learns about who you are, your patterns, and most importantly how to help you in your current situation. I just signed up and got paid directly via me adding my debit card. Great app….Nothing more to say.

Almost Perfect App. The only opportunity I see for improvement is that I’m able to link up all my accounts except my Alliant Credit Union Account. I’ve seen some reviews where people are also having trouble linking up their credit union account. Also, the maximum you can transfer is $2,500 per week. What?!? At least make it $10,000. I was trying to transfer $10,000 from my Chase to my Empower savings account to take advantage of the competitive APY but the transfer limit is way too low. What if I needed money for an emergency and I had most of my cash in Empower?! That’s the only reason why I would not make this my primary savings account.. until they increase that to at least $10,000. The app also sometimes doesn’t open up and you have to close application and try to open it again. It’s intermittent. Other than that, this app is great. It has all your balances and investments in one place. They help you renegotiate bills which I thought was not possible at all. I also love the user experience, one of the best.

First time user don’t always go by reviews. First I will say I’m the type to always read reviews and base my decision on reviews but always remember everyone bad experiences does mean it will be urs So I seen a ad on Facebook for empower and I’m in a situation where I’m in need of a few dollars until next pay day I just signed up a few mins ago the process was easy and fast it gives u a 14day free trail I was able to link my chime card and I was given a $75 advance I transferred the $75 to my chime card and had $75 in seconds my pay back fee is $79 $75 plus $4 instant transfer fee u do get the decision to get it instant for a fee or get it in 2 business days for free everything was fast and easy before I recommend to anyone I’m gonna see how the pay back goes and gave it another go around if needed but so far so good Thank god I didn’t go by the reviews cause I wouldn’t have that money in hand right now that I really needed

Could use some work. They have a good system going on, good banking, borrowing system etc. the frustration only sets in when you want things to happen because every process in the app is slow: I was prompted to link my Chase Bank with Empower, and with linking my bank, I expect the application to report banking actions as they happen or at least within the hour… for example, I get paid on fridays… I get the notification of my direct deposit days later. Same thing with regular store purchases. Their lending service is appreciated: I can borrow $50, $75 (If I agree to have it sent to the credit card they sent me), or $200 if I sign up to get direct deposits through Empower. I would sign up for direct deposits but am hesitant that I will not get paid right away due to their already slow services. Lastly, I want to shed a little more light on their lending service. Whatever I borrow, I have to pay it back, I get that. But what irritates me is that it takes about 5 days for that repayment to process, which means I can’t borrow from them until that repayment clears through them. Most apps I borrow from only need about 1 business day for repayment to reflect on the app and I can borrow again. Not Empower, no. I have 4/5 starts because I appreciate the services and am glad they can help people like me lot. But the company itself is flawed and they should really take a second to improve on the issues listed above. Thank you!

Will not return money. I started an auto save account with this company roughly a month ago and deposited $1000 into it to start. Rather suddenly I had an emergency and needed to withdraw half back. Well they locked my account so I could not get to it. I emailed support, followed all the steps for account verification and tried again a few days later. Account is still locked and now I need everything back. I start the email process all over and they tell me I have to verify my account AGAIN so that this can be sent to a specialized team. So I verify the account for the second time, receive zero response and still cannot access my own flipping money. This has been going on for almost a month now and they still have my money. Just got off the phone with an agent after being hung up on because “no one was available” only for this agent to tell me the exact same thing and they are sending this to the specialized team. My next step will be to obtain legal representation because this is ridiculous. Absolutely would not recommend. *UPDATE* We have now reached a month. I have spoken to them on the phone 5 times and every time I have been told the team will reach out. There has been zero communication from this “specialized team” that apparently only communicates via email except that they DON’T. I have not heard a word and my bank account is now overdrawn because they still have my money. I cannot stress enough not to download this garbage app.

Concerned. I have been using empower for a good while and I have had a really good experience with that up until about a month ago, I have a lot of concerns and customer service has been absolutely no help whatsoever. I have no problem getting in advance and I have never had an issue uploading my drivers license. For immediate withdrawal into my bank until a month ago when I went to go upload my drivers license it states I uploaded too many documents. I since then have been reaching out to customer service completely getting the runaround. This is where my concern comes in, there’s no real customer service agent to speak with. You have no idea who you’re speaking with other than via email was told to upload my drivers license, which is really concerning I did, but now my personal confidential information is out there wherever these representatives are now have access to personal information and yet I’m still getting the runaround and no help as to fixing the issue of being able to accept my advance this is very concerning to me How do we know that there’s not some representative in another country behind a computer that now has access to very personal information that is able to hack us and still our information and possibly get into our bank accounts? What reassurance do we have from Empower that this is not going to happen.

DO NOT GET THE APP. After canceling my subscription and account with Empower, it continued to take from my account and place into its savings. When trying to contact the help center, it only continues saying “there seems to be an error, please try again in a few moments. If now email us” at the email they give. After a day of trying to use their in app help service , but is so bugged out of an app it still wouldn’t load. So I used the email they gave but after another whole day there’s been no response, not even an automated message. Do not use. Also even though I have canceled every thing and signed out, it appears it still continues to be connected to my bank account because it still sends me notifications of my transactions through empower even when not signed in and “supposedly” they have shut my account and described it. They have done it two weeks now. I have no access to that “savings” account because I have canceled my subscription and all with them., but they continue to have access to my account and withdrawal money and monitor my personal bank account.

GREAT APP. it’s not great at all but apple wouldn’t publish my review I guess because I was honest but I bank with chime so it’s only so many apps I can use empower was one of them the first issue came about when I couldn’t get an advance because they told me they didn’t see any direct deposits in my account which there was but the next pay I was able to get only a 10 dollar advance with a 875 dollar pay check….I got the free trial and had put for them to bill my chime account so I could continue to advance if I needed fast forward I had got my 10 dollar advance and I had it to put it on my empower card because I didn’t wanna pay a 3.00 fee for an instant transfer to my chime and soon as they gave me my 10 dollar advance they took it 8 dollars within the 10 mins and then support told me they took the 8 dollars for my subscription I told them I understand that but I didn’t tell you guys to take subscription money from my empower card I even told them I didn’t even set my empower card up or order one when I first got the free trial and choose chime as my bank I asked support to give me my 8 dollars back because how do u guys expect me to pay the 10 back when y’all took it and I couldn’t even use it they told me they weren’t giving me a refund and that they would cancel my subscription and not give me MY MONEY back horrible app don’t use it at all!

Almost Perfect. Empower is the most efficient way to take control of your finances. The ability to for the app to keep track of all my purchases, place them into categories, and note how much I’m spending (overall and per category) makes budgeting a breeze. So much so that I’ve opted to go with the premium monthly subscription. With that though are two feature I would like to see introduced: the ability to delete categories and the ability to create my own transactions when I use cash. There are numerous default categories that I will never use that simply create clutter. To be able to narrow those selections down to just those I use frequently would be a huge improvement. Additionally, I would like to be able to keep track of purchases I make with cash, so that I get a complete sense of my expenses. These two features would make the app as close to perfect, in my opinion.

I was skeptical at first. So just like any payday advance app I was skeptical about using it because they’re never legit, but it’s been a little over a year that I’ve been using the empower app and it’s great when I need a little cash to hold me over till next payday or if an emergency comes up and I’m short on funds. The most you can get it 200$ but it also gives you 2 other amount if you don’t need to narrow the max amount offered, when accepting the amount it tells you all the fees that are to be paid back on your next payday, the money deposits into my bank account in less than 2 minutes when paying the extra fee. I’m not 100% percent sure if this app actually helps your credit but I’ve noticed that since I’ve been using it and I’ve been paying the loan back on time my credit score has increased by 58 point, yes I said that right 58!! There is a monthly fee to use it but it’s only 8 dollars which isn’t bad compared to some of the other fees I’ve seen from less promising payday lenders. I would highly recommend this app!

Great for keeping track of where you spend your money. I have been on the hunt for the perfect financial app to help me with budgeting and goals. My ideal app would be able to link to my accounts, I would be able to easily see the different categories that I am spending money on (food, shopping, bills, etc.) and I would be able to create my own financial goals (for vacations, large purchases, etc.) Empower makes it SUPER easy to see exactly where your money is going to. It makes it easy to change thing from category to category if need be. Empower is easier to use compared to the other financial apps I have used including Mint and Clarity. My one request is to add a way to create personal financial goals. I want to be able to say “I want to save 10,000 in the next 3 years for such and such, where can I save money and how much money do I need to be saving per month in order to make this goal?” If I had that, Empower would be a five star, for sure.

At first it was helpful. Initially the app was very helpful. My husband also uses the app as well. We had a situation where he didn’t have enough money in his own account to cover his advance so I typed in my information so at least he could pay back to advance. We’ll come to find out if I did that then I am unable to use my own app. I contacted customer support and they said that once the advance is repaid with HIS account then it will be resolved. That’s understandable. So he got a new debit card and typed in his new information and paid back the Advance through his own account. I was able to finally delete my information from his (because it won’t let you delete the account linked to the last advance) and I thought all is well. Went to my own account and I am STILL unable to use my own account for my own advance. The account still says my information is associated with another account which it is NOT anymore. Contacted support which is nothing but robots giving you generic answers to specific questions. Literally said they don’t have a solution??? What do you mean? How are you unable to allow me to just use my account again? You can see my information is completely separate now. There is no reason I shouldn’t be able to use my account. The app is completely useless now so I’ll have to just delete it and cancel if there’s no recourse for these issues. Really disappointing because otherwise the app was extremely helpful.

READ THIS PLEASE. Listen I’ve used Brigit for so long almost 5 months and they only ever gave me 50$ cash advances and never upgraded it . But this app on the first freaking offer they gave me 100$ and not only that they were able to do it the same exact day listen to anyone that’s out there looking for apps looking for any money that needs it ASAP stop what your doing idc if this is a review idc if you doubt me TRY THIS APP AT LEAST BC THIS IS THAT ONE APP PPL DONT KNOW ABT THAT LITERALLY IS A APP EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABT. This app saved me when I was stuck in downtown had no card or nothing for a payment filled everything out (YOU NEED A JOB Ok Like how do u expect for them to trust you?) and after 5mins I opened a account with card and was approved 100$ and had a form of payment once I was finished bc it allows you to save it to your wallet like genius omg thank god for this app

Customer support is no help. Their app hasn’t had a real structural update in 1.5 years, customer support will disconnect the chat if I try to explain what’s going on and always send “copy and paste” scripts instead of taking the time to explain what’s happening in their own words. I’m not asking for hand outs that are monetary, I just want my questions answered with dignity and respect without customer service/support treating their jobs like it is a hassle to investigate issues. That’s what the job is as a customer service specialist/representative, to investigate, diagnose, and assess the issue of the customer. This is another company that takes its customers or user base/demographic for granted just to improve there bottom line of numbers and metrics to make themselves profitable. This is the last cash advance app I will use and hope everyone gets a hold of there financial security, like I’m working towards without these apps, to obtain a better future. Let companies like this fall, don’t let yourself fall from dealing with these companies. 🙏🏾

Support not helpful at all!. I received an advance for a measly $10 about two months ago despite my income being roughly $1500 every two weeks. I had two connected accounts to the app and requested an advance to one, and received it on the other. Whatever no biggie. BUT the account they sent it to I don’t use anymore, and when I click on “view cash advance” to attempt to repay the advance using the account it should’ve been sent to, it gives me an error stating it is “unable to retrieve debit card information for one of the accounts”. I have reached out to support through chat about 10 times. Have had follow up emails from support with seemingly NO ONE understanding wth I’m saying despite screenshots provided. All I get is “sorry we don’t have a solution for this right now”. Okay then why am I still being charged $8 a month for a service I cannot use? I have attempted to pay back this advance SO many times but no one seems to be able to help. Useless. This was my last resort to leave a review. Apparently there is no such thing as tech support at Empower.

Simple & Fast/ Pros & cons IMO!. Took me 4 minutes to sign up and receive my first $25. I just did it to see if it works and apparently the more you use this app to borrow and how fast you pay each loan amount back depends on how quickly the next borrowed loan amount increases. I set it up to pay it back in three days because that’s technically when I get paid again. It’s suppose to go to $50 after that so we will see. (UPDATE/EDIT: didn’t go to $50 after the first time, stayed at 25 for second offer after I paid it back on time, on the scheduled date I picked. Once again it says will go to 50 so m gonna borrow one more time just to see. I was thinking maybe you need to use the app often to receive a higher offer.) I don’t care for the fee you have to pay for get the $25 it was $2. No big deal. So the $27 doesn’t have to be paid till you schedule to pay it back. Also, not a fan of the $8 monthly fee after the 14 day free trial. If I’m already borrowing money and paying a small fee I don’t see why I have to pay a monthly fee.

Two dinged stars for Customer Service. App works great, advances are exactly as advertised, and I think it’s helping my Credit Score. That being said, pray you never have the bank you use get purchased overnight and your account numbers and debit card change. Pray you don’t go to the app to update all the information BEFORE settlement is due. Pray they don’t completely disregard the new information and try to pull funds from the OLD bank and OLD debit card even after you’ve removed and replaced the information. Pray none of that happens because your only option is to try to contact their CS through chat. If you can get past the chat bot to a “live” chat agent, you’ll get a more sophisticated chat bot that respond incorrectly to your issue and gets an attitude when you keep stating your problem in different ways. There is no CS person on the phone and email generates the same canned AI Bot responses. Good luck.

FAILURE AND TOTAL GARBAGE. Empower is one of the most worthless and quite frankly, utterly useless “financial/banking services” I have ever encountered. Thankfully my unfortunate mistake of signing up with Empower; will be other people’s gain. I have no problem describing what a pathetic joke the feeble attempt at customer service Empower haphazardly provides to it customers. I can imagine how it would be nothing less than a total embarrassment if I had to admit to people that I worked at or was in any associated with such a deplorable and disheveled wreck of a company that Empower truly is. Seriously. I would say that perhaps Empower can bilk their investors out of more money so that their totally incompetent robot customer service staff could be trained on what “customer service” actually means. Alas, I believe that would just be an exercise in futility. I simply cannot wait to be the first person in line to attend the party that will be held upon the news of this company’s inevitable, and 100% deserved, abject failure. I can hardly contain my glee because the thoughts of Empower being dissolved into total non-existence is a delight of which I will always be ready to enjoy. Always. TL;DR - EMPOWER AND ITS USELESS ROBOT CUSTOMER SERVICE STAFF ARE GARBAGE - JUST LIKE THEIR “PRODUCT”. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TOTAL MONEY STEALING SCAM!!!

DOES NOT SUPPORT 2ND CARD OR MANY ATMS OPTIONS. My wife and I read about Empower through a financial article and it sounded like a great option for us. We had closed our Chase account and kept our PNC open until everything was switched over to cover expenses and make sure there was no lapse in bills. So once that was finished we finally got our....1 card? Empower does not support two cards for the same account. That was not disclosed or advertised or anything. It was deep within their “Help” section after we had signed up. So because it does work with Apple Pay we thought, ok the options and cash back are a nice option so let’s get through it. Well, we finally closed our PNC account and just had empower at this point. My pay check was a live check one week because of the switching of accounts, they wanted to be sure I could have the cash. So with this live check I look on how to deposit it or cash it..... THEY DON’T HAVE SUPPORT FOR THIS. The only way you can contact them is a messenger or email and you MIGHT get an answer back in 24-48 hours even though their app says most replies are in 2 hours of the operation times. They have no answers. So I had to go to my local grocery store where they would cash it but for $8. I responded back to their for short email giving me no answers and that was 24hours ago. Other than that, the app works nicely. Just can’t deposit cash or checks. HUGE flaw when setting up this business.

Excellent Service. Just when I thought I was out of options and nothing was going to arrive in time…. Seriously I tried like 20 different things and they we not going to cut it…. Some not available at all, some available but with a wait that could have been many days, some 2 days, most were either 24 hours or until the next business days, some with one type of error, others with another, others needed me to watch 100 videos and sign up with 10 partners, and apply for a credit card, blah blah blah….. I was stuck on the side of the road in near 100 degree heat and having to walk a mile to a gas station and walk back because nothing would work…. And then I remembered Empower!!! And sure enough I got enough money to get my gas can filled up, and me back on the road to my job I was late to! Better later and frustrated…. Then Never and job lost, and whole life as I know it annihilated….. Empower really empowered me to have the power to climb back up from what seemed like a bottomless pit and be powering myself up back to the top of my game and…. If not better life but at least not significantly worse… so in a way it did Empower me to have a better life because there is a good chance without it… and this measly $10…. I would still have to power up to a better life and be doing much worse with $10,000s less in the long run….. Thank You Empower!! Please don’t stop saving lives with access to immediate simple $10 advances!!!!

Worse by the day. First the new App layout is awful! Its difficult to use and clunky. Second, they’re now charging users every month to have an account. They claim it’s less than regular bank fees, but I’ve never once had a fee from my regular bank. They’re in the process of forcing everyone to update to a new account, which is annoying to start with, but don’t mention the $6 PER MONTH fee until after you go through all the work to make the new account. Empower USED to be a great company with a great interest rate, but it literally gets worse daily. Third, and most important, the interest rate is steadily decreasing. While it rate is still ok it’s not the rate that was promised. It has literally dropped from 1.60% to 1.10% is less than a month. The app is targeted at younger people who are less likely to have significant amounts of money, but they are charging an extreme monthly fee! At this point, the app is going to end up costing people more than they are able to gain with the lower than promised interest rates and $6/month fee. Empower has effectively rendered itself obsolete.

Amazing App. Really great app. Cash Advance when you need it most. Quick and easy set up and funds deposited to your account instantly. Now you can only get your advance within 18 days of your paycheck but if you’re like most people and get paid every two weeks it’s there WHENEVER you need it. As with any loan app there is a fee to accept your advance but it is extremely reasonable in comparison to the amount they allow you to borrow. They give you your limit and you can accept any amount within that. I would say the only downside is that you’re only able to accept an advance ONCE (1 time) in a pay period so you have to accept whatever amount you think will hold you over until the next pay period. Overall, EMPOWER is a great app that gets you the money you need in the simplest and easiest way possible. I highly recommend!

Almost Perfect. I very rarely write reviews, but for this app I’m going to make an exception. I’ve been searching for a budgeting and savings app for a while now, and I’ve tried competitors like mint and even gave a couple paid offerings a shot. Honestly, this app is far better than the competition. It includes all the same features you’ve come to expect in a budgeting app such as financial advice and linking accounts, but it does it better. One good example of its superior customer experience is the feature to add and remove specific accounts from your financial institution (For instance, if you have a savings account connected to your chase checking account that you’ve never touched, it’s not going to be around to irritate you and take up space.) This app even lets you link your investment institutions and lets you see how your securities are doing right in the app! My only gripe is that for whatever reason I’m having trouble connecting my Robinhood account. If anyone from customer service sees this review, I’d be very grateful for some assistance. : )

Avoid. Doesn’t link with my credit union so can’t use most of the features advertised. It says it will but whenever I try there is a “problem. Please try again later.” I’ve been trying for 3 weeks. When I contacted support (after some frustrating and counter-intuitive discussions with a Bot) they told me there was a temporary outage with my credit union and to try again in a week. Obviously disappointed and finding this app totally useless I deleted my account. It says all my data and account details will be deleted. Yet when I attempt to re-sign in and confirm my account has been deleted it simply just re-signs me in and all my data is still there and it hasn’t been deleted at all. I don’t know why so many people are giving this good reviews. Perhaps they haven’t used it properly but I was very keen to use empower that I’d already decided I would. I decided to just do some simple tests to put my mind at ease about using a new company and they failed all of those tests: doesn’t link with external accounts as advertised, time wasting bots are the customer support, solutions eventually offered are totally inadequate and when I made my decision that this “bank” (its really a tech company) wasn’t for me I had to repeatedly email and message them to actually manually delete my account (even though the app tells you you can do it from their main menu). New companies will improve the banking experience in the near future. Empower is not one of those.

I’m new. Hello everyone I’m very new to The Empower app. I have seen and heard of the Empower app on ads before quite a few times before and have been very interested in giving it a try, so I am rating this app 2 stars for now due to I did have to pay 8 bucks for the first month just to get an advance of 10 dollars, I’m a bit confused on that and pretty turned off about it due to the fact that I have used other apps like Dave and Albert and their fees are no where near that high, Dave’s is somewhere around $1.99 or $2.99 a month and Albert I believe was free or $4.99 if you wanted to explore other features on the app. So with that said I am rating Empower 2 stars. I will give the app a month to prove to me whether or not, I actually keep the app. Part of downloading the app was the fact that I seen on the ads from different sites that I was using that you could get up to $250 for a pay advance, not saying that I need the advance all the time but when you need it, you need it and so I really think $8 dollars a month is really high just starting out for a $10 cash advance, so I will come back on here next month around the 28th, 29th of February and let everyone know how I actually feel and if it’s worth the $8 dollars. Thank you for reading my review and if you try this app out, please let me know what you think?

This app is almost genius!. I absolutely love this app. It is by far the best budgeting app I have used, ever. And I have used them all! It also connects to my other bank accounts and credit card accounts, so when it budgets, it budgets ALL OF THE THINGS. So great! The only thing that I hate about this app is that my paychecks are always coming in at inconsistent times. I received my paycheck one day early one time, but as of recently I’ve been receiving my ACH paycheck in late - which is super stressful. You want to know where your money is at all times if you’re a budgeter. So, that’s kind of stressful. If you reach out to support, (and let me just say, the support team is phenomenal), they will usually tell me it takes a certain amount of time for ACH’s to come in - that doesn’t change the fact that it’s been inconsistent most of the time. If the Empower team could figure that issue out, this would be the winning budget/banking app. The look of the app is incredible and aesthetically pleasing. They way it works is user friendly and I get excited to use the app. I wish my paychecks came in on time, that’s the only setback about this app.

Customer Service. I’ve used this app for over a year and it’s been pretty good, however I’ve noticed that repayments are taking longer and longer to process. I’m not picky so a few days is totally fine with me but I recently repaid my loan and noticed that one payment was still pending a week later. After another week I contacted support only to be told to wait again for my repayment to process. It’s now been 4 weeks (20 business days) and my payment is still pending. The payment definitely came out of my account and everyone I speak to at empower just asks me to wait. I feel like 20 days for a payment to post is more than enough time or in the very least it’s enough time to figure out why it’s still showing up as pending. There seems to be no one at the company who will even explain what is going on which is a shame because I could really use that extra money right now and I’ve always repaid my loans on time… Smh, I feel like they’ll never actually tell me why this happened and no one there is even willing to try to figure it out.

Such a frustrating app I give up. I like the idea of the app and so wish it worked. Unfortunately for the year or so that I stuck with the app, it never functioned properly. I was constantly trying to reconnect accounts that disconnected for no reason. Sometimes they wouldn’t reconnect and I’d have to keeping trying to connect it for multiple days until it finally worked. Ultimately the main bank account I had my subscription to disconnected and I couldn’t reconnect it. They told me to wait a month and try again. I waited and it didn’t work so they had no solution except for me to open a new checking account under a different bank or delete my account with them and recreate (neither of which is solving the problem of THEIR app!). I’ve had multiple emails with customer service and they clearly don’t read the entire email or just want to get their credit for responding and send suggestions for things I already stated in the email that I had tried. I feel like they do not care to fix the app and it’s very frustrating since this is a subscription service.

False advertising.. I opened up an account through empower. There was a trial period, in which I agreed to sign up for. I knew the subscription fee would come through after the trial ended, but one day I get an email from my insurance company that my insurance was going to be canceled due to non payment due to not having enough money in my account. After looking at my bank statement I realized that empower charged me 8 dollars during the trial period which was not supposed to happen. That 8 dollars left me just short of being able to pay my car insurance. When I reached out to empower, they told me I was aware of their subscription agreement and that the fee would not refunded unless I closed the account. So I told them fine, close it. I got the 8 dollars back. I payed back my advance. Then looking back at the app, my account was marked as ‘permanently closed.’ No option to reopen, just permanent. I was never rude or pushy with them and they do this? If that’s how you want to treat your customers then I don’t want to come back anyway. Absolutely unethical. Do not recommend this app.

I LOVE this app!. Initially I had some trouble connecting my bank but as soon as I got everything set up it’s AMAZING. I love being able to look at my savings and checking account balances as well as my credit card statement all at the same time. Everything you need is on the main screen so there’s no unnecessary scrolling through multiple pages. This app allows you to set budgets, for example how much you want to allow yourself to spend every month and by week on different items and overall. They make a cool graph so you can very easily see what you’re buying and keep track of how much you’ve spent & how much you have left to spend based on the budget you set for yourself. I can’t say enough good things about this app, it’s amazing I love it so much, it’s making keeping track of my money so much easier.

False Claims. I was given a $25 advance from them and the total repayment amount was $27. Today was the day that they took the repayment out of my account. However, instead of keeping it, they came back and canceled payment right after. Firstly, they wouldn’t have been able to withdraw anything unless I had funds in my account so they can’t accurately claim that I never had money and that’s why it was canceled. Secondly, they then dropped my advance amount after claiming that I had a late repayment to $10. Despite the fact that when I realized they canceled the withdrawal, I went ahead and manually paid them back within the same day that this repayment was due. So, either way for one I wasn’t the one who caused this alleged late repayment and secondly, it’s technically not late if it’s still the same day. I have emailed the company have yet to hear back, but this is just sketchy business. I don’t know why they think it’s cool to play around in someone’s bank account and then turn around and make false statements about them. Watch out for this company.

The hype is not what it seems. Well I got this app. I was so excited about the payday advance feature. So I was charged the $8 monthly fee the 1 st month. Did not qualify for the second month another $8 charged, on the 3rd month another $8 charged. This time it says you unlocked a $25 dollar advance but would not let me pull it out. I get ssi monthly then it says not requiring enough really I’ve had ssi for 7 years now plus I make deposit about the same every 2 weeks. But then I checked back the next day. There again I was not approved now, but on the other part I was. This is so messed up over $25 dollars. Now I don’t get that. And they will shoot me a generic reply saying “oh we’re sorry to hear your having trouble send me your information and we will help” ya right. You know what I mean. I have thousands of people that will read this. I can’t believe this I given you over $25 for a crappy app. If you are going to do something and don’t and blame it on a glitch. Well that’s pretty sad. Hey guys I will update you on there reply. And I will pay another month. To either add to this experience or give a 3 to 5 star rating if it is done with meaningful sincerity. The $25 dollars is crap even though I should have qualified for at least $50 or 100 because I have more stars hot a higher advance then the $25 I no longer qualify for. I hope you look into this because you have no problems taking my $8 every month

Great for when in need. I have used 4-5 different CTP apps before. All of them have their pluses and minuses. My biggest plus for Empower is that they offered a higher rate then any other app I’ve used in the past. Other require you to build trust first before raising available funds. Empower gave me that trust just after my first CTP loan. Really helped me to avoid a late fee on a bill, when I didn’t get paid until the following day. They take very minimal fees and was super easy to use. Highly recommend this app for people who work full time and receive a regular basis direct deposit. I can only speak for myself, as I’m unaware of what they offer for others who maybe work part time or don’t have a steady reoccurring revenue. I was able to borrow $150 on day 1 of using the app. Paid it back the following week and 3 days later they offered me a $250 loan. Again, this is my experience and I’m sure everyone else’s can be different depending on a multitude of qualifications Empower likely reviews and requires. Only one way to find out! I recommend giving it a shot, if your needing some extra CTP during these hard times in our country. Let’s Go Branden!!

Great App!. I gave this app 4 stars simply on the matter that I’ve had Empower since 2021 and at that time they didn’t except my Banks. I’ve had some e-mail issues that have caused me to change my email address so when downloading the Empower app again I had to go thru much headache just trying to update my phone number as well as my email address. It was a bit hectic and still isn’t fixed in its entirety, however, once emailing customer support and being able to actually get into my account, I was instantly approved for a $25 Instant Loan which was directly deposited into my checking account onto my debit card as soon as I accepted the offer and added my debit card information. I really only needed a few dollars to make it to work and collect my bonus check and I had little to NO petroleum in my tank. Thanks to Empower, not only was I able to add a few dollars to my gas tank, I was also able to stop by McD’s for a breakfast sandwich and coffee, lol. Came in handy at the right time. I will change my 4star to a 5 star once I get my credentials with my account situated. Other than that, so far so good, can’t wait to see what else Empower has to offer. Good looking out Empower! Keep up the good work.

DO NOT GET THIS APP...I REPEAT DO NOT. This app does not allow the user to unlink their account, which is a cause for concern. I want to cancel because they charge a $6/month fee for all new users. Before I cancel I want to remove my linked bank account but the app does not let you remove it. To cancel you have to email them and wait to get a response. I literally was on email all day back and forth to then have the person from Synapse say they can’t help me because they don’t know about the Empower app and they only handle the back-end banking. I asked who can assist me with the removal and she never replied. I googled and found a number which led me back to Synapse live person and explained everything again. At least this person emailed Empower app, cc’d me to get try to get some resolve. Which unfortunately did not happen, as I asked if they (Empower) can remove my linked account on the developer end and I got no response to my question. DO NOT USE THIS APP. The 1.6% is not worth the headache of the run around and non responsive Synapse customer support. Find an online bank that offers same or better rates with no headaches when you decide to cancel.

Customer support doesn’t listen. So far so good except for linking my card. I was able to add my account no problem. I was able to get $100 advance no problem. The problem started when I tried to add my card to get an instant transfer, I received an error message saying that the card wasn’t linked to the account which is crazy because it’s the only card for it (I check to make sure I entered everything correct and I did) so I had to opt for receiving it 2 days later which is ok. But I did try to connect customer support because I would like to add my card for the future. They literally aren’t even reading what I said, first I was told my account wasn’t accepted and it most definitely was because I was offered the $100 advance. Then they said I couldn’t get an advance which again was wrong because I literally already started the transfer. Then I was told they couldn’t make changes to the transfer when I never even said anything about changing it. All I want is to add my card that’s absolutely it. This is why I hate chats and emails it takes forever and it’s almost always a bot. Please get that together!

Do not use this app!!. The worst app I have ever used!! I do not ever take a min to write a review about apps but this one I must! First off, the criteria for a cash advance is written specifically for people that wouldn’t even need a cash advance in the first place. You have to maintain a $50 balance for so many days for 4 pay periods. So, why would I borrow $50 if I could keep $50 in my account? Also this app charges monthly fees for what I don’t even know. What they charge you for, other apps have been doing for a while now. The customer service is terrible. They read scripts and will just disconnect the chat whenever you as the customer are right. This place is a scam!! They cold-heartedly trap people into paying $11 or so a month in hopes they might qualify for advances in the future. I receive over 2k a month through the account connected to this app and told I don’t qualify for not maintaining a $50 balance. When I explained I move money to my savings account every pay period they said there wasn’t anything they could do. Thankfully, there is one thing I can do...cancel, never use again and share my experience. THIS PLACE IS A STRAIGHT SCAM!!! Update: they apologized and explained there auto save feature costs $8 monthly. I can auto save from any account for nothing and my bank already advances me $200 every payday. This app is completely worthless!!

Terrible company!. You don’t get to pick what your repayment method will be, ACH or by card so my spouse and I got royally screwed by this company. We had our repayment taken out by ACH on a Thursday evening and it will take 3 business days to repay. Meaning we can’t get more money till Tuesday. We asked to have it taken out of my husband’s paycheck almost a week earlier through our card which is automatic bc his is a much bigger paycheck and it works way better for us financially. They said “our system picks the best repayment method”. So it came out of my much smaller paycheck and left us with $50 for almost a week. We talked to a supervisor who “couldn’t do anything”. This is in spite of the fact that they have access to our bank account, so therefore can see that the account has been repaid. And the supervisor didn’t care at all that this had happened to us. Or tried to fix it. We had talked to them multiple times asking to make sure that they take out the money when it worked best for our finances but unfortunately they leave it up to an automated system instead. Don’t use Empower, I wish we hadn’t!

I love this app. Quick update: This is like my one month almost using the app and it is truly a life saver especially when you need the advance cash asap. There is a $5 charge if you like the money in your account immediately. However, I usually wait the 2 buisness day period for funds to be available since it is completely free of charge. All in all, a great app for those who need to borrow in advance and don’t have the extra cash at hand. No shame at all. We all have different financial circumstances and many of us at times may need the advance because we aren’t all wealthy rich individuals that are fortunate to do so much more because they have more. Excellent app, thank you Empower and keep up the great work.

Try Dave, Gerald or Brigit before you use this app. This is a good app when you want the extra money. The biggest downside to this app is your advance amount drops if they go pull the money the day of and it’s not there even if you still pay the advance within the same day. That really irked me. My paycheck was late for whatever reason. When empower went to pull the money out of my checking account it did not have that amount so when I did get paid I immediately went and repaid what I owed within the same 24 hours. I’ve only used this app twice. I’ve paid both times the day of. It dropped by 50 dollars. Brigit, Gerald and Dave do not do that. As long as you pay within 24 hours your limit either stays the same or increases. Empower is still good I just have a issue. They do charge a monthly subscription fee and depending on the amount you borrow I assume they also charge interest.

A Valuable Financial Tool with Room for Improvement. I've found the Empower app to be an extremely useful financial tool when I've needed an extra cash boost. The ability to access a cash advance in times of need is particularly noteworthy. This feature has been instrumental on numerous occasions when unexpected expenses have arisen, ensuring I'm not left high and dry. However, there's one aspect of the app that needs some tweaking. It adjusts the cash advance limit based on the current state of your bank account, which doesn't seem entirely fair to me. I believe the app should also take into account the user's repayment history. I have always repaid my advances on time, yet I've found that my limit has been reduced simply because my bank account balance was lower than usual. This inconsistency doesn't feel just, especially for those of us who are disciplined in our financial obligations. So while Empower is overall a valuable resource, I would appreciate it if they reconsidered this policy to reward consistent, timely repayments. Regardless, I would still recommend the Empower app for its broad financial assistance features. But like all financial tools, it's important to use it wisely and keep an eye on the details.

Good luck.

Very Helpful. I find this app helpful and honest and true. I can accept advance and repay when I get paid and accept advance again if necessary. The repayment fee is very small and varies by the amount you borrow. I had surgery this week and extra bills and this really helped me out. I am sure this will be helpful through the holidays as well. I only get one paycheck before Christmas in December. I have only found positive things about this app and account. You can also save as well. After having this awhile I have noticed this does let me have extra money without going over budget so that I get myself in debt. I have opened the Thrive account which I think will improve my responsibility further.

Dont accept cash advances. Everyone has hard times financially, i need to borrow a couple bucks for gas every now and then and every single time i borrowed $50 they charged me a $36 fee for whatever they wanted really, theyd say i didnt pay on time, that is entirely false, i had it automatically deducted first thing when i got my direct deposit. Then once my card info was in the system and everything it wants to start "saving me money" and it would take an additional $50 out every week to put in an "empower checking account" and they mailed me a debit card to use, i did not ask for you to take my money and make me an account, and when i transfer it back to my bank account it takes 3 business days, i already have talked with their support team and they said it was an error and they apologize and it shouldnt happen again but here we are, it happened twice more, along with the $36 fee for god knows what that i cant get back. Its a scam, plain and simple, dont use this garbage app!

Used to love it - Customer Service/pending charges not so great. I used to love Empower. I could chat with a customer service rep within the app, get my answer fairly soon. Then things changed. The app became glitchy, I couldn’t send my monthly statements out, an accounting error on their end caused me to get paid almost a week late, pending charges weren’t closing out unless I reached out directly and their customer service is now run through a third party that wants your full social security number through email as well as account number to answer the most basic of questions. I’ve heard they’re getting new customer service soon, so I’ll hold out until then but this bank dropped from 5 stars to barely 3 with me in the few months I’ve had it. PLEASE get better customer service and make sure delays on pending charges and paychecks are no longer an issue.

Shady!!! Beware!!!!. I downloaded this app specifically for advances from check to check, which I was able to do. They have an autosave feature which I requested to have $10 taken every week. I then PAUSED it a week later and requested to have the money sent back to my account, which it did... now here’s the fun part. After requesting to have it sent back, it kept depositing the money back to my account, then repeatedly taking it back out. It’s been doing this for the last 3 days, mind you i CANCELLED the autosave feature so now it’s pulling money from my account without my authorization. Today the money got deposited back into my account, which was then taking AGAIN right after and I went into the app, it shows that my autosave balance is $0. Hmm so where’s the money app now? I cancelled my subscription immediately and am going to call my bank as soon as they open and have them block this app from attempting any transactions, oh and not to mention customer service is non existent!!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SCAMMERS!. Extremely horrible app this app been robbing me blind the whole time. I checked my bank statement just to find out this app been overcharging be horribly. The person that I’m speaking with is thinking I am lying even after I screenshot pictures of my bank statements & all the charges they did to my account. I absolutely do not recommend this to anyone. Here I am thinking I’m getting a loan to help me out from time to time & whole time the people running this app is scheming their customers out of their money! So sad because I never scheme them out of paying my loan back , I always had the money to pay them back on time. I was skeptical on even trying this app but I put my pride to the side because I really needed some extra cash but now I see I should’ve have listen to my intuition because it was on point! NOT ALL MONEY IS GOOD MONEY! DON’T DO IT FOLKS! You will be very disappointed!!! I forgot to mention they messed my whole bank account up so bad I had to close the account!

It’s a life saver!. Good day. I was skeptical at first, but I went with it. Being a single mom living in NY is challenging. I’m a very responsible person but we all have our weeks lol. I am very prideful so I don’t like asking for a helping hand. I came across Empower on Facebook & were pleased with the reviews! When they said instantly they really meant it! I was approved for $250! It was in my checking account in seconds! There is a $7 fee if you want it in less than an hour. You will have to link your banking & debit card info. The trial is free for 14 days then $8 a month there after. You pay it back on your next pay period. This app is worth it when you’re in desperate need of a couple of hundreds to get you through the week. I’m very pleased with this app!

Amazing. Empower had been absolutely amazing for my family when my husband was out of work and we needed extra funds they used his unemployment to help us out. I personally am still waiting for my card portion to be opened up for me. There was some kind of glitch and my act couldn’t be made but they said they are fixing it for me so I can become a full on empower member I wouldn’t trade this company for anything they are amazing and respond so fast to any and all of my questions and concerns. I’m so happy to have become a family member to empower thank you for saving my life I bank with chime as well and thank god I do cause they accept it obviously a lot of ppl don’t know how good this really is yes you may start out small but trust me you will get the full amount in time

Still growing but great bank. It used to be almost impossible to find when linking bank accounts for automatic payments, etc. but it’s popping up in more and more places, the debit card works internationally, interest free payday loans as long as you have some money direct deposited- which you kinda have to because there aren’t any branches I’m aware of. There used to be some glitches from time to time but customer service always replies same day. My one complaint is they’re super strict about disputing charges, more so than any bank I’ve ever dealt with - and I’ve dealt with almost all of them, so don’t use your account for any transaction you’re not 100% sure about, if the vendor doesn’t process a refund you’re not getting your money back.

In a bind? Rely on this App!. My goodness, we’ve all been there. Unexpected auto deductions, emergencies, flat tires, missed a few days of work because your sitter fell ill. Etc etc. life happens! This app is giving us the leg up we need to move forward & make those moves even if it’s at the very last minute you can get an advance in your account in seconds! I used another app similar to this one & the convenience is unparalleled. I couldn’t thank them enough if they get a chance to read this review know that you’ve helped a single mom buy the groceries to pack my kids lunches next week for only a 6$ charge to instantly add the money to my account. God bless this incredibly helpful service in this day & age with everyone’s many financial ups & downs. I can’t thank you enough!

Horrible App and won’t open!!!. This app was good when I needed the money but now the app won’t even up up. I’ve been trying to log in for days now and as soon as you go through the login process, the screen just stays on the Empower floating symbol. There’s no one to contact and there’s clearly lots of people dealing with this issue but it’s not being fixed! Thank God I canceled my subscription before it started acting silly. I can’t even log in to pay my advance smh. Fix your dang app!!!!I will stick to Dave and Brigit! There’s no way the Empower app has that many 5 star reviews! Update!! I didn’t give Empower permission to take advance from my account but somehow they did! ! I changed the repayment date to December 3rd and the money was taken out of my account today, November 13th! I didn’t have it, which is why I changed the date. Now my account $150 negative. I’m struggling right now which is why I needed the app smh! Absolute frauds!!!

Still has a evolve both as a complete bank and financial assistant. Allows transfers with smaller limits. As an online bank with no check deposit it should support higher limits. As a bank it should still evolve, no deposit check, bill pay, checks. Transfers can take 3 business days to complete but sometimes higher than that. Even though they were giving boost intially it was tough to transfer money into the account. Now I will have hard time taking out the money. They don't even give an official withdrawal check for savings Interest rates are good, great during the referral period, I guess compounded and paid daily in the statement, couldn't verify as I can't download it on iPhone, looks like a bug. Mentioned it to support, wasn't fixed yet. Other features are great except for minor bugs. Transactions sometimes were showing duplicate and pending. Other accounts don't refresh often sometimes even Weeks, so it doesn't help to know your current balances. Used it for over a month the AI suggestions just started but I just have common basic subscriptions. Hope they get better and become a complete bank and introduce basic stuff and fix all issues The statement share option is now visible and I got my Feb statements but it is not able to load or share until loaded. There are decent number of transactions in it

Don’t waste your time. I have tried this app twice, the last time was 2 years ago. I deleted my account the first time because they kept asking for documents yet when I would submit them they would never upload! They wanted the documents because they said they couldn’t see a paycheck history! Blamed it in Plaid! So I reached out to Plaid this time and they see my deposit history every week. I see my deposit history! But Empower doesn’t! Hmmm??? I reached out to customer service and SYD told me after 3 days they were working to correct the issue! I reached back out yesterday to ask them why the problem was resolved and I didn’t even get a response back! Prolly cause the problem isn’t going to get fixed as promised by SYD who claims to be a member of the escalation team who hold a superior position! This app does not hold up to its commitment! Not a very honest app for borrowing and the wasn’t satisfied with the customer service experience either! I give this app an F-

Relieved. After downloading, signing up, going through 5 min verifications of a dozen apps like this, I thought I’d run into the same walls. Whether it be verification issues or being misled, I didn’t have any issues with Empower!! I had to wait a few mins to get the instant transfer (needed the money literally ASAP so I was getting stressed) and it came thru! Now don’t get me wrong, Earnin, Dave and FloatMe are equally great. I’m sure you all will find that as well. But the ease of access with Empower was such a weight lifted off my chest. I only qualified for $50, but I already borrowed $100 from Dave so it’s probably a good thing. I don’t want an empty bank account when payday comes. Thanks to the Empower team!!! You guys are great! And I’m seriously considering a bank account with you all.

Horrible customer service. I gave it 4 stars because my previous review disappeared after I gave it 2 stars! I’ve been using this app for several months, then last month I closed my Bank of America checking account which was linked to subscription with this app. I tried connecting a new checking account with another bank to subscribe but the app didn’t allow me to. I contacted customer service and send them several emails but nobody cared! They kept saying we can not use your Bank of America account to subscribe which I repeatedly said that I closed and I just need to update it to a new bank account. For over 48 hours I went back and forth and each time a new person said the same thing! “We can not use your Bank of America for subscriptions “ I don’t know how to explain to them that I just need yo add a new bank account and not use the previous one! This has been the worst customer service I’ve seen so far All these troubles just because I wanted to update my bank info and add a new bank to subscribe! This app is okay to use until you face any issues, you can not get a hold of a customer service that solve it for you or even care for their customers.

Thankful. Just started a new job and the little money I had to commute to the place for two weeks was wiped out due to my poor management. I tried so many other apps but they needed a lot of information and statements that I wouldn’t have since it’s a new job and I had been a gig worker for the last two years. Anywho, these people approved me for $50 instantly and although it won’t last me two weeks, it can help for the the rest of the week while I figure something else out. I read some reviews about some banks don’t work or gave people problems, but I bank with Capital One, and I think any major bank that uses Plaid should work fine. I got the money deposited via a debit card with Capital One instantly.

BEST APP. I was really skeptical about this app. I have recently gone through a TRAGEDY and lost everything. I started rebuilding and what I rebuilt, my own MOTHER took from me. I have been homeless and working 116 hour weeks to make it and I’m still in debt living paycheck to paycheck. I continually have to ask my “friends” for money and they constantly throw it up in my face. I was searching for something that could help me INSTANTLY.. I have read these reviews and most are just upset because they HAVE to pay it back. It is an ADVANCEMENT, and sorry but THIS is so much better than going to a bank and getting out a loan that will WRECK your credit. I was only approved for $75, but that’s ALL I NEED right now so it’s perfect. Thank you EMPOWER! You saved my life 😭

Not A Good Bank. I’ve Only Been With This Bank For Less Than 3 weeks and I’m Already Having Problems. The First Time I Transferred Money from my first bank to my empower bank my funds were posted and available the same day the transfer was completed. The 2nd time I transferred money i got a notification that the transfer was complete but this time my funds weren’t posted & isn't available. I Can’t Call Customer Service To Speak With Anyone I have to Email Them. All they tell me is that it takes 1-5 business days to transfer but if it is complete then That Information is Irrelevant because I’ve already done the waiting period for it to complete and I’ve got the email letting me know the transfer is complete so now I have to play the waiting game waiting on my money. This will be my last time using this bank and I will not recommend this bank to anyone , you all do not have real customer service. And I will let everyone know what I am going through. You don’t play with people money when they’re trusting u with it

Infrequent Updates. I think the layout and organization of the app is decent however I take issue with the fact that my accounts are not regularly updated. This makes it near impossible to get an accurate profile of my accounts (what’s been paid, how much I owe, etc.). Most times I find myself going to an individual account’s website to get this information which defeats the purpose of having Empower in the first place. What’s worse is that there doesn’t seem to even be a means for manually refreshing account information as with some other apps I had so your only option is to delete the account and re-enter it again to get the updated info. It is really frustrating because this issue has persisted for months and nothings been done about to address or even acknowledge it for that matter. I don’t believe I will continue with Empower much longer as I feel there are better options available.

Just me. So far so good. Filled out the form they requested and received a notification from my bank that the requested funds had been deposited directly into my checking account. Easy peasy!!! Just me with an update. Paid my 1st advance and today they offered me another. Sure, why not? Everything is very quick and streamlined so I'm not wasting all kinds of time filling out more forms for the new request. If you need a few bucks to get you by till payday give empower a shot. It's still Just me. Holy smokes! They just offered me TRIPLE my original advance, and this is only my 3rd month with them. I did need some cash, but not $150 (what they offered me.) I took half that. So the final word on Empower is that they really do what they advertise. Think I'll stick with Empower.

Cool at first then switched up. Everything was cool I initially signed up for direct deposit with at least $200 to be qualified for the $100 after hiccups of not being able to get an actual empower card still never got one til this day smh but custom service linked my own card so I will be able to get an advance I qualified twice for the $100 and paid them back on time !!! All of a sudden I’m not qualified anymore not even for the $25 smh constantly contacted support once again and I’m always hit with “there’s nothing we can do about it but hey here’s a free month for the inconvenience lol” what a joke I should’ve known sim was fishy when I first got the app and weeks in I was already contacting support about my card I never received and the problem still haven’t been fixed I’m closing my account soon I don’t tried everything I could with this company even link my job too to show them I make enough to qualify even up to $250 but nope I get the run around with them good riddance!!

$8 dollars per month subscription + $4 dollars for instant cash. Empower can be a pain if you bank with Anything pre-paid such as Chime, Go2bank ect . If you have a regular bank account everything goes a bit smoother. I like using Empower for cash advances but they charge too much. $8 dollars per month for Subscriptions plus an extra $4 dollars if you wish to cash out immediately. I understand that these companies have to make money some way somehow in order to pay their employees and keep the app going. However as a person who live paycheck to paycheck it’s doesn’t help me at all. What makes it worst I don’t use any of the other services the subscription charges for because it doesn’t benefit me at all. I wish they could make it to where if you just want to use cash advance you don’t have to pay $8 . Just the $4 for instant access for cash right away. I guess I just stick to Earnin.

An impressed customer. It takes a lot to impress me and I’ve been a customer of Empower for only one month and I am very impressed by the services I got in such a short time. What I really like was that hat I was not approved for a personal loan but I was approved for a cash advance and I actually paid it off a week later and Empower took notice of my early payment in full so they decided to offer an increase for my next cash advance for paying off early. Now that’s the type of service I love. A company who recognizes good credit habits and rewarding you for them. Not like these big banks that are only focused on making money but not rewarding good banking behavior to their customers. Love you guys at Empower thank you so much.

LOVE this app. I never write app reviews, but this is exactly the app I needed. I’ve fought a long time with Quicken and hated it but saw no other option. This saved my budget and helped me get out of credit card debt fast. I’m especially thankful for the auto save portion because my employer doesn’t do percentages and I’ve just been putting a flat amount into my savings monthly. This posed a challenge as I am a part time hourly worker with great schedule variance. This was the solution I needed! The only thing I wish is that I could have more than one auto save option. It seems that isn’t the case at the moment. I’d like to be able to save for two things at once! Hopefully this will be a possibility in the future. I recommend this app to everyone who wants to manage their money easily and well.

Great and helpful service that took a chance on me. I was out of work for 6 months and things were tight to say the least. I finally received an offer letter from the job I wanted and took the offer. I was only in the new job for 1 month when I downloaded empower. Even though I had only received two paychecks to prove pay history they still approved me when almost all the others wouldn’t. It was only fifty dollars if I remember right, but it sure did help to get me through to the next paycheck. Since they have raised the amount and at this point be been at my workplace for 2.5 months. For anybody thinking of downloading a cash advance app then I would highly recommend Empower.

No chime&balance updates are disgustingly late. Idk when they stopped letting people use chime with this. I had chime for a long time with it and never needed and advance but the monthly payments for their subscription continued to come out of my chime account. Got a text about getting an advance and went to check it out and it gave me the run around and said that chime accounts don’t work.. so my chime account was fine the first few times I took an advance, then I didn’t take anymore advances for probably a year, and now they don’t send advances to chime but they continued to take money out of my chime. Trash ish. And yes I have other accounts I could link for this product because it’s not really a service. More of a disservice. Furthermore the balance updates you receive are trash. They come days to weeks late. Don’t use chime for this, and don’t count on the balance change updates to be useful or timely. Set up text alerts through your bank itself.

Horrible app. Zero support. To start off, it’s a monthly subscription fee to use it. Yes you need to first pay to borrow money. It’s based on your bank history. You have to link to your account and they check deposit and debit history. The app itself is horrible. The layout is weird and functionality is very limited. There is never live chat for customer support. If you pause your monthly subscription service, then you immediately cannot do anything within the app. Cannot look at the account, check your payment, account information. Nothing. But there is an immediate notification on the screen that you have a $100 advance waiting for you if you unpause it. As soon as you unpause your subscription, the $100 advance offer is no longer there. This kind of shady behavior shouldn’t be in an app designed to borrow money. If you really need it, then go ahead. But it’s shady and you will have zero customer support.

Greatest loan service I ever used. I borrowed and borrowed and borrowed then I kept trying to apply for credit and I got denied more than once but every time I applied it gave me options to get better so I’m closing to be approved but now it’s even better cause it also creates the best possibility’s now that I’m working towards something that can potentially get me a house or car or anything on a line of credit I’ve never had no one help me financially and this app this loan service had done way more than I thought it would and the smallest msg put on a screen tickles your brain like ok let me try this and bam it worked honest and true you borrow you pay no gimmicks and now I am allowed to build up credit come on I’m ready !!! Thanks guys forreal !!!! Happy and excited more eager love themmmm

Lacking Features. Unfortunately, this isn't a stand alone bank account since you have to link it to another bank account and transfer money into it. There is no mobile deposit or other means to have a full suite of banking services. I want to leave brick and mortar banks altogether but am stuck because of the outside account linkage requirements. They also withdrew a direct deposit until I proved it was mine causing bill payments to be returned. The hassle to get issues resolved, the lack of meaningful banking features and other blah experiences (even though I have the free version which means I’ve been patient from the very beginning) I’m finally leaving. If you're like me in this regard, try another online bank. The auto-savings feature, the cool debit card, and the ease of using the app are all cool but there are other feature laden online accounts with much better customer service.

$150 in 5 minutes!!!. I recently had to pay for a trip to spread my sisters ashes and then came home and my dog passed days later. The cremation took the last of my money and I was -6 dollars in my account. I tried tons of apps to loan just a little money and they all require that you open an account with them. This app only wants to confirm that you have a bank account with at least 1 direct deposit a month. I make around $3500 a month so I was approved $150 which is more than enough for gas to get me to pay day. This app literally saved my day in 5 minutes. I accepted a $75 loan and it was $4 to get it instantly which is just added to what you need to pay back. I will only have to pay back $79 with no interest.

faults in app, confusing customer service. I was enjoying this app until I came across issues with using the AutoSave feature which allows you to build up savings over time by having a scheduled amount of money withdrawn from your checking. I noticed money withdrawing from my checking but it was not in turn being deposited into the AutoSavings. I reached out to Empower to solve this problem and get my money back, and after multiple confusing emails and being told my account was on temporary hold due to an incorrect social security number, I was told to contact Synapesfi, their payment processor. Empower has no phone number to reach and talk to customer service. I had to re-explain the issues I was experiencing to Synapesfi, and have still not received my money back. If the issue truly stemmed from entering an incorrect ss number, the app should have detected that and notified me right away/not allowed me to continue with creating an account before taking money out of my checking.

The App That’s Got Your Back!. There are a few apps that offer similarities when it comes to cash advance during a difficult time, however the simplicity of using Empower makes it vary easy find what you need. The Cash Advance fee amount of $7 is amongst the higher end fees of the apps I have experienced, but the service you get such as consistent notifications if/when charges are posted to your bank, as well as the percentage of spending information they provide, you can see exactly what category your heaviest spending tends to allowing you to, if you deem it necessary, adjust spending habits to better fit the needs of your individual financial situation. Excellent App, User Friendly, Simple Design, Easy To Navigate, & Fast Advances.

Easiest to use. I tried several apps for keeping track of my spending. They all require homework. This app is for laity people like me. Evidently, at times I need to re-allocate categories, like a purchase at new gas station, but the app will assigns all passed or future charges to that category. Other times, like PayPal, you want different purchases to different categories; you can do it, too. Also, my wife’s credit cards are in the same pool, so we can really know where the money goes. Last, when I could not setup a bank account, I emailed for help and the developers helped me step by step. Felt like family. I want to mention I was initially concerned about privacy and sharing sensitive info with third party (developers) but that’s not the case.

good app. Empower has great sync features, and easily able to track individual categories, and it's holistic overview of personal finance is very mint-esque without the annoying advertisements. THE ONE feature I think that's lacking is the ability to group expenses by categories such as housing (under which could be rent, internet, electricity etc.) And the ability to customize the tracking feature for customized periods of time. As it stands currently, you can only look at the last 2 months, and yearly. The ability to customize these types of tracking features would make this an elite app. I think these are some of the biggest issues preventing me from buying the yearly subscription. I really like this app, it's closely behind YNAB, but needs a few tweaks!

The best. I’m writing this review because like most people things can be a bit hard or things can be a bit of a struggle for most of us it’s bills our job our kids our significant other or just our selfs room lol out for and things cost we don’t always have a back up plan or extra money laying around but Empower it’s like that family member spouse or friend you can borrow money from when you really need it and it comes in handy I recommend this app to any one who needs help with anything you may have going on on your life that you need to spend money on of course you have to pay it back but the give you time to pay back on your pay day or the next 🥰🥰💗💗💋
