Nextcloud Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Great basic sharing app. Love the concept behind NextCloud and the app is slick. A few issues so far. The media view should respect file creation dates of the original file instead of the date a file was added to NextCloud media folder. Could use more sorting features as well, maybe tagging. In the file view it would be great to be able to text search PDF files while viewing.

Auto Upload in Background. This app was just about perfect until the auto upload in the background feature was removed. It used to detect location changes and upload photos when you had a significant change in location, assuming you have your server correctly configured. Now you have to open the app to start backups and you need to keep it open for a significant time or it will stall out if uploading a large number of photos or videos. Please bring this feature back, it would make this app five stars again.

Stable and Fast. When I decided to move away from Dropbox I feared that I would have to settle for an inferior mobile experience. Nextcloud has pleasantly surprised me! The mobile app is faster and easier to use than Dropbox. This is also true for the OSX and Windows apps. The Nextcloud developers are doing great work.

Surprisingly nice client for Nextcloud. I wish synchronization were a bit faster, but otherwise the client is quite nice. I use it to edit notes and manage files. The photos/media viewer is still embarrassingly basic, but since it's not my primary use-case, I let it slide. Great app! Hopefully future versions will bring better photo viewing and faster syncing, especially with Nextcloud Hub II out.

Your own Google Drive. Everything you need to take back your data is here! Simple setup (simple from a software programmers perspective) and it’s does what it says it does! Haven’t test everything but seem feature complete for me as a replacement for all my cloud / sass needs!

Help make Nextcloud better. Set up: very easy and user friendly I haven’t been able to find an application to sync my Nextcloud storage to a windows file explorer or Mac OS finder similar to one drive or iCloud (both have windows file explorer folder abilities) That will not make me leave Nextcloud, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to make that element work.

Like having control?. Nextcloud gives you control, as much as you can handle: 1) Make an account on a server run by their dev team - their mission is to protect your data, not sell it. 2) Learn barely any Linux - eg Ubuntu, and install the Nextcloud Server snap - now you can manage your own server. 3) Learn a lot about Linux - install Nextcloud server from source and have complete control of your data, I can help you get there - for now I’m doing it just for fun. Check out blog . somejoe . com for a full write up on #3, #2 will be posted soon - and my contact info is somewhere there ;) -Joe

Too complex, can't figure out how to even begin. All I want to do is set up an external hard drive as a local server, then provide several accounts to family members. It appears that I have to subscribe to a hosting service (a <10GB limit - what a joke!) or buy a $600+ NAS with a decent amount of storage, but nothing for the home user whose only experience is 30+ years on Macs. I reviewed the user docs and FAQs and whatever I could find on the dev site, but nothing helped a bit. Can't contact tech support for setup assistance because you need to have paid subscription.

File integration doesn’t work properly & devs have ignored it. The file integration bug has been brought up for over a year repeatedly, and nothing has changed. I cannot rely on this product until it’s reliable, and right now, it’s not. Often when community is touted as the driving force, it means you get little or no help when things go wrong/the help is very slow/the help doesn’t result in any changes when it’s the developers’ fault. That seems to be the case here.

Works really good, now I prefer Nextcloud over Dropbox and Box. When Dropbox lowered device limit to 3, I had been thinking about switching over but was hesitant at first due to modest reviews. And when Google Photos changed their terms, that’s when I said that’s enough. I’m glad I moved over (in 2021) because the system is rock solid. Used it for several months and no issues at all, and syncing across many devices as I need both Mac and PC laptop/desktop for work. And also for wife. And soon, for my kids. I still keep Dropbox for sharing video publicly (they seem to do this best) and others too, but with unlimited storage, no subscription fee (other than server cost), privacy and robust tech, what’s not to like?

NextCloud may be better than Dropbox. I installed NextCloud on my server and I would use it for everything if Apple programmers did not rely so much on either iCloud or Dropbox and the go-to cloud storage. It’s very fast, private, inexpensive, and has all the features and more than Dropbox. Highly recommended.

Great app one issue. App works great one issues with it though. The scan image feature is not working for me. I take a picture it detects the document and then it tells me to drag the image to the document but the images are not draggable and the save button is disabled until I can move one image into the document. Didn’t know the best place to submit app feedback but I will update this review when it’s fixed thanks.

Excellent. This is my go to app! I like being able to send files and choose whether or not those can just view or download but also putting an expiration date on the file where it can’t be viewed after a certain date. And this app is the easiest to use so far in my experiences.

BYE BYE GOOGLE. Running my own Nextcloud server allowed me to replace Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Photos, and Google Keep all with just Nextcloud. The more I can de-Google myself, the better. My only remaining Google product at this point is Gmail, which I’m in the process of slowly migrating away from.

So much better than iCloud & Google drive. This app is so much faster & more convenient than both iCloud & Google drive AND it doesn’t spy on you as much! When greed for advertising dollars isn’t the sole reason for developing software you can make functional software products. Way to go NextCloud!!!

Solid!. This app has been working great for me for many months and is a tremendously useful addition to the NextCloud family. Thanks! Request: I need to be able to vary the size of the column of filenames. Most of my filenames (which I don’t think are excessive) are longer than the displayed text, so if they have similar filenames I often can’t tell which is which. But thanks for the ongoing support of the app!

Needs work. First off, I’ve been using this app for years and it’s been solid. However, upon updating it (after for a long time not at all touching the update button) has broken the search function and it has 404 errors. The earlier versions worked fine! So yeah....people use the function. It needs to be fixed.

Not a Bad!! 😀. While I’d like to see the app run better or it have even more bells and whistles; the fact remains it’s an entire Dropbox on a Raspberry Pi. I used Ubuntu Server and snap option stable with berryboot on a Raspberry Pi 3. It’s so solid it can run months and works perfectly with iPad, iPhone, droid, MacBook and other Ubuntu Linux (use owncloud). The iPad interface and pdf’s are flawless. Home use over http works fine. The software gets better and better every version.

I like Nextcloud and I use it to replace public cloud storage.. Thank you very much for Nextcloud! Not only open source but also powerful and free! I can't stand Baidu Wangpan, a cloud storage service that claims to be free, but if you don't pay for it, you will get a download speed of 40kb/s to 50kb/s.So I made up my mind to give up using Baidu Wangpan and look for a substitute. One Drive, Google Drive and Dropbox may all be good choices, but I have no plans to store my personal data in public cloud storage. So, I chose Nextcloud. Using Nextcloud not only makes it easy to synchronize and share files, but also your data is only in your own hands! This is what I want!

Latest update crashes at launch. Been using Nextcloud for over a year. The latest update won’t run on my iPad. Crashes at launch. My iPad is fully updated and everything else is working. No splash screen, just quit immediately. Help!

Not happy. Installed the app. it connected to my exisiting account. that’s good. it doesn’t show the existing folders anf files that are on the server. That’s bad. Not realky happy with something that should just work. connecting with safari works fine and i can see everything. told the app to upload the canera roll. all uploads failed with an error.

I can't believe it's free - what's the catch?. Such a useful suite of programs for a home or business server - and a well-maintained client app available in the App Store to access those programs and files. I especially like that I can sync my photos - pretty handy when I run low on storage space on my iPhone!

Missing shortcuts. The app works great for basic file management with a Nextcloud server. I even like the built-in markdown editor which is handy for quick notes and even draft blogs to be written right within Nextcloud and have it saved periodically. The main feature I miss from the app is the lack of Shortcuts integration which could make things much better for me.

Love the app, wish the auto-upload would work... Having issues Auto Upload. Seems to get stuck. Background tasks enabled. Seems I have to go back to the transfers page and keep pushing it along. Seems to be trying to upload the same few files over and over again. Feel like I am trying to role a rock up hill. :-/

Works well. Does everything it's supposed to, synchronizes files, shares, etc. Now supports two-factor authentication, and integrates with the iOS Files app so you can open files on Nextcloud into e.g., Microsoft Office apps. There are a few minor display bugs but it’s been really reliable overall.

Frustrating with other users. This application is miserable to use when managing users. It has an overly generous cache with no way to limit it. So you’ll find yourself with having 20GB of phone storage taken up one day. Do I really have to keep telling users to pay attention to their cache?? Also it seems at random times the app will decide to forget photo sync settings and screw everything up. It’ll be disabled and then you have to go and remember every change you made for every user. Now there’s gigs of photos in all the wrong places thanks to this app forgetting user settings

Horrific scanning experience. Used to be amazing, but it’s now a bloated and buggy mess. Tried to scan a set of four documents at least a dozen times each but ran into countless bugs. Couldn’t get the rotation to save. Had to clear the scan cache or it would choose old images even if I clicked on newer ones. It would let me rotate the images individually before saving but then the final saved pdf (why remove jpg as destination file format???) would not use the correct rotation. The client thought I was going to have a heart attack watching me fight with the app just to save a single file. It was as if nothing worked correctly and only pretended to do so. Lost my first and only nextcloud contract, never again.

iPhone XR. App has trouble uploading large mp4 files. It would take much longer than usual and I’d have to use a web browser instead. One time I left it uploading a 4gb mp4 file overnight and it still didn’t finish uploading by morning or if it was even uploading at all. Sometimes I wouldn’t be able to tell because it’ll only show the upload speeds but its progress would be inconsistent and inaccurate or wouldn’t show any sign of progress at all. Other than the app itself, Nextcloud’s quality and UI is better than Google Drives’.

Pretty good. Wish list: - be able to set the default font size for markdown files. Right now the font is too small for my eyes. - be able to edit markdown files offline and sync them later

Doesn’t sync photos in background. I have the app set to sync my iCloud photos with my server. But the sync doesn’t seem to occur until I open the app, rather than in the background. I know iOS has gotten worse with background idle process killing but google photos seems to maintain sync in the background ok. So why not this app? Otherwise not bad. 2nd issue; 2fa auth using app notification. When you click on the initial iOS notification, it brings you to the front page of the app and then nothing. You have to manually go to the app’s notifications tab to see the login prompt and accept it. Consider making that pop up first thing when you click on the initial iOS notification.

Don’t change the account URL. You can’t get in and change the URL of the account. It just locks up if the domain cannot be found. Gives unnecessary errors. They need to at least put the account settings in under Settings. I have to totally uninstall it just to change the URL.

Great app, one request. Best digital cloud that’s worth setting up and the app that comes with it is also great . Could there be a feature to sort differently in different folder? i.e. Folder A is sorted alphabetically and Folder B is sorted by last modified, without having to switch the sorting for everything

Beautiful app. Couldn’t replace it.. Nextcloud is already awesome, but this app completes it. The whole app is well done and remains unique while using native toolkits and integrating extremely well with the system. The native file management support lets you use your files with any app, and the document scanner is top notch. The auto upload feature is also very well done and I use it all the time. I can’t go into all the details of the whole app, but it really is incredible.

Good app, but PLEASE fix file listing. I love the concept of Nextcloud and this is a really good app. But the way the file list is implemented makes it almost unusable. On my iPad, the file listing window is fixed width and any file names over ~20 chars are shortened. On my iPhone it’s more like ~30 characters. I have a large directory of videos and other files and without seeing the full file names I don’t know what most of them are. On iPad, maybe you could allow the preview window to be minimized so the file list extends the full width of the screen. Or maybe you could display the file names as crawls instead of shortening them.

New update broke password protected folder!!. My password protected folders are not protected anymore. There's no option for 'protect folder with password anymore'. The new UI is slow and terrible, app just keeps crashing. I don't know what you made to this beautiful app that was once, now its totally unusable. Moving to Seafile.

Sync cannot be relied upon. Sync is useless ; I moved a dozen small files to my Nextcloud folder and even with the app open, they won’t sync. I even tried restarting my phone and the nextcloud server. How long has Nextcloud been out? And they still can’t handle reliable file sync?! Look online and you’ll see people complaining about how bad the sync is, going back years. Stop trying to be Microsoft office, and fix the most basic problems with your app!

wish it had full functionality. app works great for storing and retrieving files across devices and users, i just wish you could use it to access the other functions of NextCloud — circles, decks, polls, etc. i use polls and decks quite a bit so it’s disappointing to have to pull it up either in my phone browser (polls only; decks don’t display properly on the mobile site) or on desktop whenever i need it. it would definitely make this a 5 star review if these functions were added

Great speed but a little buggy. Love the speed, privacy and simplicity of this app. So fast and simple especially compared to Google Drive or DropBox. Unfortunately this version is tony bit buggy with my iPhone as there is no way for me to give permission to Nextcloud to access my photos (as I read that it had in previous versions)... and work arounds are awkward but doable after a reboot of the phone after install.

Almost as good as OC. Almost as good as on cloud. I was a fan of OC until I had issues getting the free version to upgrade on my server. It seems that NextCloud is the original developers and founders of OC forming their own company again to make sure the product stays true to its purpose. This app is almost as good as the original, in fact it works a little bit faster. The only thing missing in keeping me from giving at five out of five stars as the missing quick index letters on the right side and touch ID capability.

I love the idea, but hate the fact. The NextCloud thing is amazing. You can buy a Raspberry Pi .. install a chip HDD on it. And you have you personal cloud. That you can use to share files and media between all you devices, whenever they are. But iOS app is glitchy. Plus, what the reason to have a cloud if files are not synced automatically, whenever you are in network. Windows phones app is just a Web-DAV client. So I hope support will read this comment - this is my message to them.

The Almost “Big Cloud” Replacement. I started exploring Nextcloud as a replacement for Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc. I got it set up in a self hosted environment, and I love the control. Unfortunately, there’s still a few essential apps I use daily that I haven’t figured out how to effectively replace on my phone yet (Trello and Keep being the major ones). But I’m hoping that solution develops in time.

Great when it works. The latest version is very slow to open documents/images. It shows loading screen for 3-4 mins before opening the file ( the file is only couple hundred kb) The app was running fine until few days ago but started getting request timeouts for everything I do after I upgraded the disk to a 1tb drive. The web interface weeks perfectly fine it's just the app. I have the same issue from my wife's phone as well. Cannot use the app now as cannot auto upload photos nor access files from the storage.

issue #1036 still there. I still can not finish my sync tasks to my nas with self-signed certs. Hope you can fix it soon. Thanks in advance. Update: After uninstall and re-install twice, it finally works. That’s really great!

No option to delete unused local files like ownCloud app has. Title. Within a week this app had made my phone completely unusable due to constantly keeping everything downloaded to my phone. The whole point of a cloud server is for me to be able to view documents and pictures then have them removed from my phone when not in use. The ownCloud app was great and you could set how long documents stayed on your phone after you stopped using them. This app had no feature like that and it should really be added back.

Background sync doesn’t work. Iphone 10 .. the pics background sync doesn’t work and it needs opening the app for the sync to start To upload we have keep going back to transfers screen. It takes almost a month to upload like a 1000 pics, as it’s manual upload.

Not fully tested. I used a provider for my cloud service and that to me defeats the purpose of Nextcloud which is self-reliance and the spirit of respect and decency that comes with mutually lived privacy rights... a virtue seen in the more advanced countries in the area of privacy rights and laws ex., Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden and Germany is working on it and has awesome ethics and decency ..., however surveillance networks are perhaps too big.

A place for all my data!. After setting up the server, this app allows me to back up ALL of my photos at no extra cost! Looking forward to using it with my friends and family for years to come

Stellar. Why anybody would use dropbox anymore is beyond me! This client is far better more stable and secure than the dropbox client, Google Drive, one drive, and any other cloud storage system that I can think of. Highly recommended definitely better than the on cloud version

Great alternative to Dropbox Google with privacy. This app makes it easy to say goodbye to Dropbox Google and other cloud services and lets you stay in control of your data. I’ve been using Nextcloud for years and having the phone app makes a huge difference. The Nextcloud team has done a lot of work to make their products better over the years.

Ties everything together.. Unlike some of the other open source DIY cloud options Nextcloud provides the full package. The iOS app is lean, responsive and helps to tie in my mobile devices to the rest of my Nextcloud ecosystem. Everything just works and that is a wonderful thing.

Camera issue. Hi, All over app is really good but recently Am facing a problem when ever I press the save tab app is closed automatically after scan the documents I tried to reinstall the app as well.

Excellent!. Just works. We use it for business. Runs on Raspberry Pi 3. Use it as an iCloud replacement with iPhones, iPads and Macs. Also with a Windows machine. Runs great apps, and you can write your own. Couldn’t ask for more!

Love it. Power of open source movement on full display. I love this app and the underlying Nextcloud server to bits. Every time my kids iPad complains about storage and apple nudges me to fork out hundreds Of dollars to save a measly 10 GB of files I used to get frustrated. Not anymore. I got my own cloud server running in my garage and have 5TB OF STORAGE. never have to worry about deleting files to make room. Enable instant uploads with the option to delete the picture from the device. This way your iPhone or iPad will always be nearly empty yet you will have all your photos at your finger tips. Not just the photos from your mobile devices but any pictures you have uploaded. Love it love it love it!!

The app is buggy on iOS. There are several connection issues at times on the app and the app also feels very janky. Please improve the performance. Other than that I’m very happy with nextcloud.

Very good.. Would be nice if music could play and change the next song.

Replaces iCloud & Time Machine. We are running a Nextcloud server on a Raspberry Pi 3b with a 2Tb HD for file storage. We use this for calendars, contacts, photos and documents on Macs, iPhones and iPads. It gives us complete freedom with groups and sharing. In backing up our documents to it, it keeps track of deleted documents which can be restored. It also keeps versions, so previously saved versions can also be restored. The user interface isn’t as fancy as Time Machine, but it works. It also means that I can access my files from my computer remotely from my phone, since I’ve set up outside access to Nextcloud. This is our first step away from Apple after decades of being 100% Apple. There will be more.

Clunky. Unreliable.. Opening MS Word documents is clunky with a slow interface that provides no obvious way to return to the file hierarchy. Have to quit the app when finished reading a Word document.

Great concept; keeps crashing. I’ve just setup my nextcloud server on my raspberry pi, only to find that the app on my phone keeps crashing. It’s very frustrating because I’m uploading my photos to free up storage space, and it’s making the process a lot slower.

Performance is getting worse. While I love having my own cloud server, the app can at times make it very difficult to access and manage files in it. I find the app performs quite poorly, gets unresponsive at times and often reports errors. It’s impossible for me to determine if this is because of my server, network or just the app. I just know that using the web browser to access my cloud is better, much smoother to scroll, and functionality is consistently better. There’s also a number of important features only available to users in the browser. I’d like to see app performance improvements, more features like server management and file conversion (heic to jpeg in-situ, rather than on upload only). I also don’t understand why the app stores SO MUCH DATA locally, like when it downloads ALL of the photos and videos I’ve just uploaded from my camera roll. I can’t turn this off. I can only “clear cache” manually. I find this one of the most annoying things about the app, and it probably contributes at least 50% towards the performance problems.

What's an owncloud?. after struggling with owncloud for what felt like forever, never getting a response back from the support techs, fighting with "features" along comes nextcloud and all of my problems have gone away. better interface, better app support, the app doesn't have the problems I was having with the owncloud app. I just wish I found nextcloud before I tried and struggled with owncloud.

Save downloads without favouriting. This app isn't very intuitive. Once you tap to download a file, the file icon indicates a count. So intuitively you click on the file icon... your back to the root folder! To actually view your file it's a series of menus and guesses. Then after a while the file isn't there anymore! The only way to save a file for later seems to be favouriting. The open-with function doesn't seem to work (with documents 5 or Evernote) which would alleviate this problem. There is mention of audio files working in iTunes but I couldn't figure out how.

Can’t read or edit .txt files in 3.x version. Text file reading and editing seems to be broken, text content is clipped when scrolling, when editing cursor and selection is invisible, such a basic feature of dealing with simple plain text files got broken in version 3.

so bug ridden almost unusable. login is broken, file management is cludgly and poorly implemented. can’t understand what all the hype is about.

Crash city. Trying to upload a bunch of photos and videos, but won’t stop crashing and drained 80% of my battery in 10 minutes.

Awesome!. The app is so easy to use, I set up a Nextcloud server on my Raspberry Pi 4B, and it worked amazingly good! I definitely recommend this over ownCloud!

stuck @ endless login. Access forbidden State token does not match

Update broke it. Was able to edit markdown files with this app previously but now has an error saying the file was changed outside the editor and can’t be opened. Kind of the point of storing in the cloud isn’t it? Nextcloud has potential to be a great as a replacement for Dropbox but it’s next to useless with iOS. No other app can’t browse files except this app, all folders are empty

Background sync doesn’t work …. Apple broke this app.

Safe and sound. Great to have access to our very own next cloud servers. App does as it says on the box and lets you easily see files on your Nextcloud account. Thanks for the app

Not very mature. I spent hours setting this up as a home server and while the admin documentation is detailed, Nextcloud is not as good as just using an SFTP server. The problem is switching between local and remote network access and the problems associated with address resolution in the home environment. Connecting within the LAN and then later from the WAN yields unpleasant results with unsynchronised caching. Nextcloud presents itself as an opportunity to host your own cloud service but Its clear they’re aiming for enterprise implementation. The app is really only a portal for file transfer and nothing else. But even then, opening documents is hit and miss. Quite often after it opens a document, there is no way of backing out without quitting and reopening the app. Setting up a home Nextcloud server was an interesting experience in hardening the server’s backend but using Nextcloud itself was a let down.

Doesn’t work on iPad. It just doesn’t work, not sure if its how my company has set up the server or if its the app. Its all connected right, but I can’t see any of my files, tried for weeks to fix it, still doesn’t work.

Mr. Very handy and free. Love the music player

Removed media folder option. Why was this done?

iOS mobile uploads bugged. Product is great except iOS uploads stay on 0kb upload permanently if on mobile data. Have confirmed the app has access to cellular, wifi uploads work but nothing over mobile data. App will be perfect for our business once fixed.

Great until.... Had a great performance until you encounter the 503: server unavailable error pop up

Please add music player add on. Good app missing some functionality.

Loving my Nextcloud server. Spent a lot of time building my Linux server and Nextcloud worked perfectly

Stop harassing me to review. 0/10 won’t stop harassing you for a review!

Unreliable. TL;DR Nextcloud is an open-source self-hostable Google Drive replacement but the iOS app will occasionally lose your data (see below), crash and forcibly log you out. This app is not ready for enterprise use. Pros: * Self-hostable cloud storage with all the niceties of Google Drive. * Able to modify OpenOffice documents if your server is using Collabora Online, and without Collabora, able to modify TXT and Markdown documents. Cons: * App crashes when playing back video which has not yet downloaded. * If you phone runs out of storage you will be forcefully logged out of the app. * Updates are occasionally pushed which forcibly log you out of the app from all accounts. Servers whose certificates were manually verified will need to be re-verified. * Changes to TXT documents will occasionally silently fail to save causing changes to be lost.

3.0.0 Broke the file system integration for me. I use this app all the time and unfortunately the latest build broke the ability for a number of users at my organisation to "share to nextcloud" from the iOS file system. Tested this on multiple devices, multiple iOS version.

Awesome but need improvements. The app is awesome but it doesn’t start uploading automatically. I always have to start the app in order to start uploading. Not convenient for user like my wife who doesn’t always remember to start the app.

just great. Nextcloud optimized our work flow in great way. We spending match less time to transfer sensitive information. Usability is high and works on Ipad Pro in stable manner. Thank you Nexcloud team.

Excellent personal cloud. It can be used in linux, Windows, iPhone. The speed and stability are very good. Fully meet my requirements in different situation.

Can’t transfer files. I use to save files from one iOS app to Nextcloud that’s also broken now since the update. What’s going on with this developer?

Great for saving photos at home. Highly recommend this for saving pictures on your private cloud. Easy to setup the server for docker

Indépendance .... Pour se libérer des gros services commerciaux qui dominent sans partage ... longue vie à NextCloud !

Good mobile app with few issues. The app is really good . The only concern the photo backups are not sync from the phone

The Application crushing as of last update.. I love the application, however as of last update, it will not work. It crushes as soon as I lunch the application, or prompts login information. The bottom line it is unusable

Open source and excellent. The only problem I had before was that you had to buy the app. I understand the economics however as a consumer product I felt silly creating cloud storage for family and then telling them to use it they had to buy an app (I’m looking at you plex.) As it turns out, the “cloud” is just someone else’s computer. You might as well make it your own and skip the monthly or yearly fee of having to rent storage space.

Full bug !!. and it's not possible to go back.

Browser not supported. The app has a self contained browser that is not supported by the app. An update is needed to get this to function properly again. Great concept and options, looking forward to functionality again.

Media folder not working. Nextcloud is awesome and the team does work hard to keep it. On this last update the media folder does not work at all. Says folder is blank even when selected photos and videos. I’m on iPhone 6 with nextcloud on the latest release.

Piece of garbage. Constantly crashes. Load of crap

Awesome. What it does, it does very well!! Down the road I wonder if support for added apps could be integrated? For example I use The Nextcloud news and cookbook apps. It’d be awesome if they could show up in this app somehow. Sometimes there are other apps you can get for added apps, but not always. For example there’s no mobile app for the cookbook. Just a thought. Keep up the awesome work!

Works perfectly. Freedom at last! While the corporates are trying to overcharge us and get their hands in our private data, NextCloud comes to our rescue. Thank you for making this great app. I really appreciate the effort. ❤️

Home cloud = ownership of ur data!. Running a home server to have your own cloud with Nextcloud is easy and amazing. The endless plugins for extra functionality are great and it’s NOT costly for the server. I’m using an old dual Xeon box I grabbed for 100.00 and it is beyond amazing. Do yourself a favour and run you own cloud!

A Sweet Taste of Freedom. Apple seems to do everything they can to lock us into their ecosystem. At least on this iPad Mini 2 stuck at iOS 12. I open they allow you, Future Reader, fuller control of your files. In the meantime, Nextcloud allowed me to get my content out (as PDFs and screenshots) from Books, Messages, Notes. It was a slow process because those Apple apps would only let me “share” one Book at a time, or convert one Note to PDF at a time, and I had to do screenshots of the key conversations I wanted to keep from Messages. At least they let devs build sharing tools for Photos, so Nextcloud was able to make that part painless. Thank you open source devs! I am now wiping this iPad and will use Nextcloud from Day One on any future devices... not sure I can say the same about iOS.

I like this app. Im really addicted to degugging this service

Love you @nextcloud. Thank you for giving some of my privacy back!

Thanks. Thank you so much for this great app

Not reliable. If you have a need to have your files off-line, go somewhere else. This software keeps redos losing everything, has terrible search engine.

Auto upload isn't working. The setting for it seems to have disappeared

No syncing. The built-in PDF reader has zero editing capabilities (no highlighting, no comment or any other sort of annotation). When I try to perform those actions in an external PDF editor (one that actually lets me change a PDF), I can't find a way to let the NextCloud app know that the PDF file changed and needs to be synced... If I can't edit a file locally and sync it back through the app, then what's the purpose of the app?

Long time unresolved issues. The development on this app has stagnated a bit. There are obvious issues and oversights. The app still lacks the ability for other apps to create Folder Bookmarks to Nextcloud directories, and automation through Shortcuts is still non existent. Also, a more common annoyance: some time in the last few months there was an update that makes it so every time I open the app it stops my audio playback. I've submitted these as issues when they first arose, but I don't think iOS is of high priority to the developer. If you're not already established on Nextcloud I'd recommend continuing to look for an alternative.

Less buggy than owncloud. Less buggy than owncloud but the interface is not as good.

Amazing!!. Works well and is amazing. Syncing iPhone desktop and onsite. Can't get any better ands its open source!! Thank-You continue the excellent work guys!

☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️. inconvenient scrollbar when watching videos, it would be better to make a regular one from ios. and why is app crashing after uploading file ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️

URL link. This app is just an URL bookmark to your server. No background process. Upload crash on close or minimise not good to upload pictures library. I would like to have the old version back to AppStore.

love the Convenience. Control over the personal data Sharing options very smooth download to phone album .In short this platform had impressed me

Easy to Install and Run. Easy to get up and running. Flawless so far but lots to learn and potential that needs to be explored.

Document scan is broken. All documents are getting saved as black and white regardless of what option you choose. Please fix!

Best app for local cloud server. Its easy to install and understand the set up, love it.

Crashing with latest update. I am on ios 12.4 (iphone8) and with the latest update to v4.2.1 (previously on v4.2.0) results in not being able to open the app and crashes on launch. Please fix so that I can access my files, thanks.

Going great so far. I’ve been unimpressed with iCloud and Google time and time again. They lure you in and then you’re forced to upgrade. They thrive on your loyalty but in return I got the very minimum. Anyway, I found NC somehow and since have replaced iKloud and Yoodle (like literary force them to stop) on all my devices. I now use NC for calendars, contacts, reminders. Plus I direct a small educational center. This year we will use NC for everything including web! It’s a little different, bit of a learning curve, but I have found NC to be worth it. I hope it stays in the game for a long time.

Very good APP. Been my safe cloud since 2018. Good to know that my stuff is at home for real. Good job guys!!

Excellent. Great iOS integration. Sharing functions are intuitive and functional. Couldn't ask for more.

Apple Files data loss. Still loses file changes all the time with Apple Files access from other apps.

Broken on iOS. Logins in the latest version, ad of this reviewed publish date, are not possible through the app. Please fix GitHub issue #1156 in nextcloud/iOS

Parfait. Parfait pour se débarrasser de Google!

Absolutely awesome. Fantastic program. Keep up the good work!!!

Finally fixed big files uploading issue. I’m using Nginx+PHP environment plus CloudFlare as reverse proxy, was not be able to upload big files via iOS client, tried different settings, now this update finally fixed the issue.

Nice app. I liked work for my team

Can’t close any open files. Can’t close any open files

Edit file name. Overall it is good. I would like to be able edit an attachment file name before importing from email to Nextcloud.

Problem. Error 500 with Nextcloud 19.0.3 ans iOS But with Windows software does work.

Excellent App, responsive and bug free. The app works perfectly, connects to my Nextcloud server without any issues, and transfers files without issues.

This is a lot better than any other cloud solution.. Of course it may use some more features but no other solution is as flexible and usable.

Video playback not working. Video playback is not working unless the video is cached.

Best file sharing ever. I like the fact you can share among peers. Keep up with the good work

indispensable for distributed teams. I created an engineering document store using Nextcloud for a distributed development team. It gave us an efficient low-overhead solution that worked fantastic! Dale Scott NPI Specialist dalescott.net

Good for file sharing, but a few bugs. Great access to files on my server, but I cannot access some other apps that interact with the database directly, such as deck I have also found a bug where files and folders created on the app have different permissions when accessed through a browser

Works well. Does everything it's supposed to, synchronizes files, shares, etc. Now supports two-factor authentication, and integrates with the iOS Files app so you can open files on Nextcloud into e.g., Microsoft Office apps. There are a few minor display bugs but it’s been really reliable overall.

Good not great. Freezes often. When selecting reverse order of view by name, the app shows videos at the top and then images. But should be mixed. Cant edit users, and doesnt support custom quotas. Doesnt support upload in background

Fantastic personal cloud!. I have been using nextcloud for years and it just keeps getting better. I've built it so deeply into my workflow I don't know what I world do without it. I highly recommend.

Works perfectly. I installed NextCloud server in a ODROID C2 at home, with duckdns and let's encrypt. The iPad client works really well at home and on 4G, speed is really fast when uploading from home, and works smoothly from other networks.

Very nice cloud storage - but not the scanner. So i really like this app. Most features are very well thought out. Saw that it included a scanner so I tried to use it instead of my stand alone scanner app. Nope. Extremely blurry. But everything else is really good.

No longer updates photos. Running a NC 22 server locally and this app has stopped updating the photos in the media page. I need to keep changing the source folder in order to trigger a refresh. Just like the actual server or web interface it’s buggy and not something I would use for corporate

Feature Request - View photos by Location. I love using this app for my wife and I but would really like to view photos by location in the app.

Photo Auto-Upload Stopped Working. This happen to anyone else? The auto sync stopped working end of September and I have no idea why.

Video playing stop working. The recent update seems to break the video playing feature when it comes to an MP4 file. The feature worked prior to the recent update. Is there a regression?

Easy. Considering this is for system that you set up yourself, and requires a good amount of technical knowledge… This app integrates very smoothly with it and requires very little effort to use. I have appreciated its improvements over time as well.

Works great except pictures upload in background. I have a camera roll to upload pictures but just as I leave app it stops uploading even though the background is enabled with location services. I constantly have to go into the app to backup pictures. Please fix this issue that would be great! Thank you!

Amazing cloud app. Nextcloud has done an amazing job on their cloud app. I would recommend it for anyone. The app also has many built in features and works with Files seamlessly.

PDF. the pdf viewer in the app is lacking a search feature, is there a way to open PDFs in an external app or add a search feature to the in-app pdf viewer? Otherwise, I can’t go a day without using this app, or nextcloud in general. Thank you!

Great app. Keeps getting better! Easy to use, and simple to implement on your own server. I use this more than my iCloud to store pics.

Crashes immediately after opening. This App used to work, but never really stable. Now it just crashes as soon as it’s opened.

Wow. Amazing . Packed full of features , tons of addons , free mobile app , open source , HIPPA compliant .... What more could you ask for ! Completely the competition, dropbox , google drive , one drive , mega , move over !

Good app but…. This app is great but the iOS auto camera roll back up crashes the app every 50 uploads roughly and when you are transferring over 9.5k files it’s a huge pain. Other than that this app is great mixed with my own personal server. PLEASE FIX

Thank you and I crave more. Thank you for making a great app, please continue to add content to it. I would love the ability to use notes, calendars, mail, decks and other apps from the next cloud server on this iOS app. Thanks!

Ten stars. Completely free, no ads, no tracking, and works like I’m paying a premium for it. Thank you. Never have I felt so spoiled.

issue #1036 still there. I still can not finish my sync tasks to my nas with self-signed certs. Hope you can fix it soon. Thanks in advance. Update: After uninstall and re-install twice, it finally works. That’s really great!

Doesn’t seem to work with my version. I wish the app gave some info in the description about what versions are supported. It won’t allow me to login to my server, I assume because it’s incompatible with my version, but I have no idea if that’s the case or what versions are supported by the app because they don’t list it.

Pretty good. Wish list: - be able to set the default font size for markdown files. Right now the font is too small for my eyes. - be able to edit markdown files offline and sync them later

Open Source Software at its best. As effortless to use as any commercial cloud service, but totally under your control. Incredibly simple to set up your own personal file server on a raspberry pi!

System and client. iPhone client works great. Only wish I could avoid delete on upload prompt. Maybe that is user error. VPN to home host for the win!!!

Best Private Cloud Platform. I’ve used Nextcloud for many years hosted on my own equipment and it’s just amazing. There is no cloud, just someone else’s computer :)

Nextcloud Top Choice for Cloud Storage. I highly recommend Nextcloud for your cloud storage software. I run Nextcloud on my servers and use it daily. Along with 3 clients whom I have installed and they now use Nextcloud for managing their files on the cloud. Don’t hesitate to use Nextcloud, it’s fast, secure, and dependable.

Better than DropBox. You get all the features, no limitations, and keep your money. Install is a breeze as is usage!!

Hamdoulah for Nextcloud. If you’re a persecuted ppl and worry about being hunted you can create and host your own internet for you and your family without worry. Thank you so much! Haven’t felt safer online!

Random errors. App crashes immediately on start. Phone was syncing with no problem until 2 weeks ago, and have hundreds of GB of space on my servers drive still. I see a lot of forums with this same issue from years ago!

Performance. Earlier versions of the app had very jittery scrolling and wasn’t anywhere near as smooth as the current version. Absolutely no complaints now!

Best Cloud. I believe in supporting FOSS and if you want to step down from big tech then this app is essential. There are so many cool providers to choose from. There’s even a longer list of providers if you can find it.

New pop up page broken. This app worked a version or two ago. I deleted it and got a new account because of problems with the server. Now on this newest version I cannot log in. I enter the server address, which is a hosted provider. The the pop up window comes up with a log in button. I can push that button many times and wait minutes but nothing happens. There is no place for me to enter log in credentials.

Bug while composing a note. While composing or editing a note, as soon as I try to start typing, the focus of the screen immediately shifts away to a different portion of the app. Can’t actually see what I type without first having to close the keyboard and drag back to the text.

One of the best apps on iOS. This is a profesional, nice looking and very useful app. You can use it to store files on your personal cloud. Its a nice alternative to iCloud if you prefer to have your data in a place you control. Great app! Thanks for maintaining it.

Chunking broke it. Tried uploading photos to backup using the new chunking method App just crashes, no error message to report, and no matter how many times I open it, it just crashes Can’t even get into the settings to disable the chunking because every time I open the app it crashes because chunking is enabled and it’s trying to auto upload my photos

Fantastic, love background updates. Downloaded Nextcloud for use on a personal server that syncs with two computers and two iOS devices. The iOS app works fantastically! I only wish the Windows app worked just as well. Seems to stop syncing and is not near instantaneous as iOS.

Great file management!. I am so glad I had to drop Dropbox because their clients no longer support my file system. Nextcloud’s clients are better, plus using my own server means I know what’s happening to my data. Thank you so much!!!!

Good app. Does not upload after screen lock kicked in. Other than that, it’s a good app to upload/sync photos to cloudnext server on freenas at home. The app recognizes photo date and put photo in year, month folder.

Crashes when I try to view certain folders. Overall good app. But crashes whenever I try to view files in certain folders, like the Templates folder. Doesn’t happen with all folders though. Very bizarre.

Excellent. Most things work very well. I personally would’ve liked a feature to view the Nextcloud Deck or calendar app so that I could use it as a planner, but it works very well for what it does

Ties everything together.. Unlike some of the other open source DIY cloud options Nextcloud provides the full package. The iOS app is lean, responsive and helps to tie in my mobile devices to the rest of my Nextcloud ecosystem. Everything just works and that is a wonderful thing.

Crashes my server when browsing photos. Server: official nextcloud box Board: raspberry pi3 Problem: I have a folder with ~600 photos. Whenever I access it, it'll start loading some photos then stops. The server crashes and I won't be able to access the server or ssh Note: this problem doesn't happen when I access the same folder using the browser

Nextcloud is a godsend. So glad this is available, a gift to humanity to keep control of our own data.

Good theme. I love this app. I'm using it with a custom server running armbian. My server is slow and I see a slowdown using the app compared to accessing my server through a web-browser. But the features work and the security seems good, so I am very happy. My thanks to the team and contributers who made this.

Next cloud awesomeness. Tons of features, with a little technical know how, you can have a great self hosted cloud service. Keep it up Next Cloud team!

Freezes during upload. Will frequently freeze during file upload

Too many bugs. The app crashes with photo auto upload if there are too many files such as 7k. The other issues I found are the there is no options to view notifications yet the icon has a 3 on it. You can do user management from the app. It just feels really limited.
