Empires & Puzzles: Match-3 RPG Comments & Reviews 2022

- Great game

The reviews on here that state you have to “pay to win” and “never guaranteed you do win when you spend x amount” are Bogus claims. Playing this game is a marathon, not a dAsh to the finish. It’s team building; material farming adventure that takes months to get every character and item your so desperately wanting. The Months it takes to lever characters, upgrade buildings, play through the story and quests takes time and patience. You can spend money to get the things your so desperately wanting now with odd/chances against you OR you can just play the game and wait for the quest and tournaments to give you the items your wanting(takes time) What your goals in the gameplay can also differ. So any reviews telling you about bad character/teams or not getting them. Those people know they spend money with odd slim and change with every season. and spending money is no guarantee to any item due to the lottery/change type of buying. They tell you the % of chance to get certain items/ If your looking for a game you can dig into, put in the time needed to make it the team and build it have patience because they give you gem to spend, they give you many items to build you characters. Give this game the your time it deserves before giving it a review. **Happy Adventures Slawguhy

- Would you play this game if you are bad luck?

I don’t know. We are a group of 7 people. I must spend some money sometime. However, my friends doesn’t. They are poor, so They save a lot of gems for fortune. Until now they are at level 28, they are still bad luck and didn’t get any 5 heros. Even if you have 5 stars hero. You still need to wait a long time to find the items to update your heros. My clan members just told me... He just got the last ring that he needs since almost 2 years... We lost titan, war by weird matching. I am scared. Today My friends tell me they will quit the game. They told me :” It is so expensive, nonsense, unreasonable waiting for a really good game.” Im sad. I think if they quit, I will quit too. I dont know how to play game alone without my friends. This game used to give a really great memories. Update: I think I did my review for over 5 months until you guys responded. :-/ . The game is getting better than before a lot. After a year playing the game, My group is now only have 2 left. They all give up on the game because of bad luck with summons and collecting items to max training for 5 stars heroes ( 7 members before). They got frustrated and mad then left. I was sad cause all my best friends are left. However the game already got better by adding some good quests before they left. ( still so long but better than nothing). I want to play a game for long term even without my friends. My new friends from my alliance are amazing.

- There is no “endgame”

Well there is, but when you reach it you still have things you can do. If it gets boring it means your alliance isn’t a committed one (leave and find a new one!) and you haven’t figured out how to make weaker (epic) heroes work as well as the super strong (legendary) ones. Which is possible. Definitely a game for the long term. I downloaded just because an Interactive app looked cool and I’ve been playing for almost a year it seems! tip: the game & team building is far more fun if you DO NOT drop cash. Atleast early on! You’ll be missing out on the early-type of fun of the game if you care about climbing the ranks and storing rare items too quickly. Don’t get fustrated with losses, just have fun! Level up atleast 2 heroes of every color that are 3 star heroes before moving on to 4 star heroes. Repeat the process with 4 star heroes before moving on to ANY 5 star heroes. 5 star heroes are of little to no value for younglings because the amount of resources and items you need to invest in leveling them up exceeds their value. You could have 4, 3 star heroes or 2, 4 star heroes done before your at the 5 star hero’s last level! As you level up, resources come quicker.

- I’m not a gambler

I would give this game a higher rating. There’s so many good things about the game play and different ways to play. I’ve played it everyday since November 2018. I’m embarrassed to say how much I have spent on gems, but I added it up $5,200. I went from rarely spending on a game to overspending small buys at a time. Most purchases were under $30. I don’t mind spending money to get what I need. But I don’t like to gamble. In other games you spend money on gems and buy the hammer you want. Here you buy gems with a 1-3% chance to get that hammer. In this case a particular hero. At the height of my spending I spent over $600 trying to get a particular hero and didn’t even get it. I’m so far invested in the game, it’s hard to walk away. If I had it to do over I would not download this game. My opinion further degraded over recent decisions the developers made. We don’t have any rights after spending money time and resources on our teams. They can just change the hero at will. There’s many simple things they could do to make the game less like gambling. If the priced a hero at $200 and you knew you could get it for the money or you could pull for it at the summon gate that would be great. If they stopped messing with heroes after they’re released. Again simple fix that costs them nothing. I’ve tried to stop spending, but it’s harder than going vegan. I have to stop playing. $5,200 worth small buys is out of control. Don’t start playing.

- Fun And Expansive Match 3 (with some issues)

I’ve played this game for over 3 years, during which time I’ve invested a modest amount of money and a significant amount of time in my little digital kingdom and beloved heroes. This review is from a place of significant experience and fondness, but also objective honesty. The world of mobile games is dominated by match 3 puzzles for a reason. They are quick and intuitive, they are shiny and addictive. This game is no different but incorporates an expansive campaign and hero mechanics system that puts it into the realm of some of the best mobile RPGs. The developers regularly feed the app new content, and the global player base is generally very healthy (my own alliance is made up of polite supportive strangers). These elements all make for a finely tuned game that is easy to pick up and stays fun and competitive at even the highest levels of play. As with any mobile game, there are issues in Empires: annoying pop up ads, mind-numbing resource farming, an abysmally slow building upgrade system, overtly sexist female characters/avatars, and the pay to win factor here is significant, but Empires can be fun as a 100% free game as well. I have friends with a few less heroes on their rosters, but healthier bank accounts. Overall the game is great, assuming your patience and resilience is as well.

- Infuriating, rewarding, frustratingly fun

Been playing this game for about a year now. Partly because I’ve made some great friends in my alliance I’ve been a daily player. The game itself is a clever combination of elements built around a core match 3 setup. The defining gameplay feature centers on the placement of your matches on the board dictate what enemy you hit, it opens up a depth of strategy and fun not found in other rpg/match 3 mashups. As others have noted it is a looong term game. As far as requiring money to advance, It certainly helps, but there are many high level players in our alliance that have spent $0-$20 over a year span. Most frustrating element is drop rates on items needed to ascend your 5* heroes. Honestly if you play a lot you will be able to pick up the items you need to ascend 4* heroes regularly, but those dang top end materials are few and far between. It took me 10 months to get enough materials to max my first 5* hero. This game is a grind, the greed of developers can be a bit offensive, but the irony of spending money on gems to get better heroes is the better heroes are worthless until you play the game enough to get the items needed to make them stronger so it is really counterproductive to your game to do so. Better off being patient, finding a good alliance and letting your team grow organically.

- Started great but has become a chore

I started the game 2 years ago with the intention of keeping it free to play (f2p) but that quickly changed. After stumbling upon an active alliance, I was pressured to advance faster. Player issue, not a game issue for certain. Except that part of advancing faster means better heroes, and better troops, and more mats, and the fastest way to get there is to purchase and spend gems. So I spent the better part of a year spending pretty freely. Again, player issue. But I dialed it back for a bit. And then started spending again after listening to the buzz from teammates and the forum. It really is set up to generate peer pressure to keep up. And then 2020 happened. Major nerfs to heroes that many chased and attained. And more nerfs to the same heroes. But then more powerful heroes are released. And yup, after a few months of monetary gain from players chasing to keep up with their peers, those heroes are nerfed. On the same day the devs announce that some of the most powerful and sought after heroes will be getting boost, as long as you can summon their proposed costume. That was the last straw. I fed my top heroes to the worst available that I had and removed the game from my phone. You might think that this is my personal issue but I’m not the only one. Many players are leaving the game. Feel free to join but know that the developers are preying on your competitive nature with an eye on your wallet at all times.

- Adjustments

I’ve never put money towards a game ever in my life. Empires & Puzzles is the only game I’ve enjoyed playing. I admire the different deals you guys do with obtaining more gems. However, there are minor things that can be modified to make my rating jump to 5 stars. I just feel like you should be able to upgrade multiple buildings at once. Waiting 2 days for one building to finish is ridiculous. Either upgrading multiple buildings at once or changing the time frame would be suitable. Then, there’s the troops that can’t be upgraded. What’s the point in having all the same troops if I can’t add them to one another. I have 1 star troops just sitting there for no reason. I’m given literally the same troops every random draw. The algorithm for that should be fixed to where it’s not so rare to get 4 or 5 star troops/ heros. And if there is a button to level up your troops then that should be more apparent. Instead of searching high and low to figure out if it’s possible to do so. Also, how are you supposed to use the emblems without any since of direction? I’m over here stuck with 41 of the same emblem because I don’t know when I can use it nor how I can. Other than that, I really do enjoy the game but it would be better if my suggestions were carefully thought out.

- Good but frustrating game

I’ve been playing the game over 3 years now, so obviously I like it enough to stay. People say you just need patience, but that’s only partially true. The new hero’s they release seem to be consistently more powerful than previously released hero’s which means even if you max out heroes, they will only be average in a few months. People who pay (significantly) can buy enough chances to draw the new stronger hero’s then buy the ascension materials to get them to max levels. Also, I’ve waited 3-6 months for a single ascension item (yes patience), but you need 5 or 6 of them to max level a single hero. Sometimes you can get them more often, but they are still pretty rare in the game and with 6 colors/classes of heroes, it can take a really long time to level the hero you want if you don’t ever pay. I have a really great alliance and several of us have become online friends, but make no mistake, this game is frustrating in how long it takes to max level heroes and it takes a lot of your time daily to keep up with all the titans to kill with your alliance, the alliance wars, quests and leveling up. The game play is a lot of fun though and if you get in the right alliance for you, it can be rewarding.

- I’d give it 4 but

I’d give it 4 or even 5 stars, the graphics & game play are really good, but I have an issue with the drop rates of the items you need to level up your legendary hero’s. It’s almost non existent. Even if you spend the money on the “special” promos you don’t get the items you need to level up past 70. Example: I’ve needed spy glasses to level up one of my legendary heroes. I’ve got 3......in almost 6 months of daily playing. 3. I’ve needed shields for 2 of my other hero’s for just as long. 6 months and I still can’t get the needed ingredients to level anyone up. Also the drop rates for legendary characters is very low to begin with, so when you’re fortunate enough to get one you want to level them up. A lot of players drop out due to this frustration. Really need to look at these drop rates as it turns a fun game into a grind & then it’s no fun. Update: our group was chatting about this and our group leader has had 5 hero’s that he hasn’t been able to level up after over 500 days & a lot of money spent. All of them ice hero’s. Since my review I came back to drop it to 1 star. The drop rates have gotten worse. You pretty much have to spend big money in order to level up legendary hero’s. Our group has been slowly disintegrating due to this. So if you play be warned, you won’t ever get anywhere without spending a ton of money & then still sit there with hero’s not playable. Congrats to the developers on making a money tree.

- New games, new names, same problems

A needlessly elaborate schematic designed to confuse you into thinking you can play for free. Quickly gets too hard to do so. But more than the standard and expected money grab is the baffling added difficulty thrown at you to actually *play* the basic puzzle game. Upgrade a web of buildings in a long linear series to Recruit heroes to train heroes up levels to ascend heroes of five different types. With taking days to move each step. Why stop your gamers from playing? 1 star not for the money grab but the inane thoughts in the "boardroom" that this style of play is likeable by those that play puzzle matching games. Speaking of money grabs though. This developers here are masterclass. You can (and will) pay hundreds of dollars (I have spent close to 1000 on this game) buying *chances* to get what you need. And the chances are (not surprisingly) near zero. Exact chances? Guess. And you won’t have to guess who figured out that in their boardroom? You will be laughed at in that boardroom. Key items are kept from you from fully ascending you heroes though which can’t be bought. Ascending them *if* you get lucky and pay money is amazingly difficult at higher levels with months of grinding (during which time you will be spending more money). Honestly this game makes you wonder why anyone would deal illegal drugs. Here the developers have found something more profitable, zero material cost and somehow legal.

- Hit to miss ratio

Now, don’t get me wrong; I really do like this game. I enjoy the story behind it, the game is including while using strategy, and also has an option where the game plays for you. The heroes are clearly thought through, and each design is unique to the type of hero and the way they play their role in the game. The play is smooth, with little to no lag. However, not every diamond is cut perfectly. During the game, whenever a move is played on an enemy, the hits have a chance of missing the target. No big deal, that’s to be expected in a game like this. However, my last plays of recent levels (and this may just be me not quite being far enough into the game yet to get past this) have shown that the moves I play tend to miss the enemies on almost every hit without fail. The enemies, on the other hand, whether NPC or player, have a much higher chance of actually hitting their chosen targets. Again, this may just be a problem with my game or something that is just unlucky for me. This is my only real problem with this game, though. Gameplay is relaxing and fun, and the occasional Titan that pops up is fun to engage with your teammates. A very well thought through RPG, and certainly one to be respected for the work and creativity put into it.

- Most rigged game I’ve ever downloaded.

Seriously, eff this game. So many popups from within the app, not even external ads, make the game borderline unplayable especially right after you open it. $30 sale here, $20 sale there, and they pop up right as you exit out of other windows, but they put the “purchase” button right by the exit button so it’s easy to accidentally buy in-game currency, “gems,” which you need an astronomical amount of to do anything. Expect to pay about $70 in real U.S. dollars PER HERO to level them up to max lvl. Also, the Raids option is absolute BS, automated teams deal twice to 4x as much damage as your own with no chance to parry/block attacks. You maybe get 3-4 turns to beat an opponents team before you’re dead, because their automated dmg is 3x as potent as yours. Titans are ridiculously hard to defeat especially by small alliances, the developers beg for and all but steal your money constantly, they keep saying “we fixed Raids to make them more fair” which really means “we made them even harder because %$&@ you, AND we gave bots and spoofers extra damage and defense.” I want to drive to the developers’ studio and shove Colen’s fire axe where the sun don’t shine, this game had such potential and it just does not deliver. Money-grubbing, cheesy, extremely difficult without pay-to-play, unless you want to throw your phone out of sheer frustration and then ragequit like the weeb you are then don’t download this game.

- Great game but...

I love this game. Been playing it for over a year now every day. Very enjoyable and lots to do the more you move up the levels. The only thing i would suggest is not to spend a dime on this game. You’re better off just waiting and saving up your diamonds to buy better characters. Don’t waste your money because they’re just going to give you the same duplicate characters that you get from saving up your diamonds. Would be nice if there was a bigger chance to get decent cards when you’re investing real money. I’ve invested a bit into the game and so far have not received so much as even one decent card from my investments. I literally just keep getting duplicates of the cards that I already have that are three stars and four stars. You’re better off saving your money and just taking your time to find decent characters cards. My daughter plays this as well and she is in her first month and has already received a five star character from spending her diamonds that she saved up. You may think that investing your money will earn you better cards faster but it just spends your money faster. Over a year of playtime and I still don’t have a five star card. Just isn’t fair!

- This game is straight pay-to-win

P&E is fun & addictive, but is ABSOLUTELY pay-to-win. You can’t be a good team w/o having 5-star heroes on your roster, & it’s virtually impossible to get a single 5-star w/o paying. Anyone who has more than 1 or 2 5-star heroes in their deck has spent hundreds of dollars on this game. The top teams who have their entire deck stacked w/ 5-star heroes have undoubtedly spent over a thousand dollars. People may go into the game thinking they can just grind & get 5-star heroes slowly & patiently. It doesn’t happen. Earning gems w/o buying packs are too slow; you will legitimately spend a month to earn enough gem to summon 1 hero, & get a 3-star. You have save & grind for several months to earn enough gems to draw 10 at a time, & you will only gets 3 or 4 star heroes. Realistically, the only way to get a 5-star is to do a 3 or 4 10-draws in a row, & earning enough gems to do that many 10-draws will take months, if not a year of grinding. The other way to get a 5-star hero thru a level 20 Training Center. Well, it takes months to build a level 20 TC, & once you have it, it takes a lot of resources & 2 full days to try to train a 5-star, but even then the drop rates for 5-stars from a TC is basically non-existent. A guy on my team in this game was keeping a tally of how many heroes he was getting from his TCs, & he had done over 70 by last count & gotten only 3 & 4-stars. That’s literally months of effort for squat.

- Game Raid Match Making Grossly Unbalanced!

The game is pretty good for the exception of the match making for the raids which is grossly unbalanced. Time and time again I save up food for days to roll to match up for a PVP Raid battle and it consistently matches me up against other players that are miles above my Rank, level and team power. You can literally burn through days of food to only be matched up against a team you clearly can't beat and if you do you lose about 4 times the amount of Trophy's you would have won which makes no sense. Although the game pretty cool I am finding the raids extremely frustrating and not wanting to play much anymore. This should be fixed and you should be matched up against others that are your level not 10 to 20 levels above you, that's no match it's a slaughter. I am done and deleting this game. I don't mind the grind and work just don't appreciate a few things like grinding for 4 weeks to get to level 21 and coming on and being squashed by a level 12 that paid to get high level hero's and troops and did no work. I also know that the match making system is broken and you will waste 400kfood just to get matched against 3 or 4 players close to your level. I can no longer invest time in a broken game system that is unfair. There is no return for your efforts unless you pay to play and that is no achievement.

To new players who will end up being suckers and spending money on a off chance you might, just mighty be lucky enough to get what you so desperately need for you to win just a bit more..... DON’T!! DON’T FALL FOR THIER TRICKS!!! There’s is nothing I can not stand more than a app like this who tempts poor unsuspecting sheep into slaughter giving up their hard earned money or allowance money for no and I mean NO GAIN! When you see other players with all the “top stuff” it is usually the game developers, betas or a friend of the app makers or they are fools and spent hundreds or sadly thousands $$$ so they will have all the stuff you dream about, that YOU will never be able to have! You’ll spend a small amount an might get a lil better then you will say yes i might be lucky and spend more and then before you know it you’ll be so deep in a hole with absolutely NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT! It’s so disgusting of these type of game developers! They are no different than a casino a scratch off addiction and the drug dealer down the block getting you hooked so you’ll spend more! I’ve worked with people like this that make apps like this and that’s the reason why I don’t anymore! There are better ways to make big bucks on this app but to take millions from poor unsuspecting sheep is gross! Please players spend your money elsewhere or save it or don’t listen to me but don’t say you were never warned!

- Addictive & Fun

I kept seeing ads for this game and at first I was annoyed and closed it because I wanted to go back to playing the Blackjack game which showed me this ad. Then it kept popping up and I finally interacted with it and fell into its trap. It’s a well designed game with beautiful graphics and elements of RPG and strategy that I enjoy with humor thrown in. The menu is easy and fun to interact with. It’s a game that requires patience and does not require you to spend real money to advance, although it does help but absolutely not required. I like the challenge of spending as little resource as possible to grow your empire. It’s a fun challenge to figure out what to upgrade and the order that needs to happen. I normally hate seeing ads but this game has cleverly weaved it into its gameplay that makes me look forward to seeing the ads. The only thing I hate about the game is the raids but overall it’s fun and addictive. And there’s a good chance I’ll splurge in the future and spend real money to support this company and developers for creating such an amazing game. It’s been a while since a game has caught and held my attention and makes me want to play it. Well done!

- Don’t bother

This game was great when it came out. But they keep introducing newer more powerful characters which your best chance to get is based on $$$ spent to increases random chance. So the game is rapidly being ruled by op characters where the average player not spending piles of money gets screwed. They also play around with odds on the shields. If you have two of five of same color the odds of that color appearing go down! This has been proven by players tracking the screens over and over yet they deny it occurs even if such “bad luck” happens to encourage you to use items which again you can buy! They care only about the next dollar not game balance so save your money. Also note every critical review gets the same packaged its free to play we offer items for those wanting a faster pace message. IE .. pay to win. Since raids on others and war with others is part of the game those paying through the nose for a faster pace slaughter the non payers and you get far less rewards than they do. Its not equal chance when those spending piles of cash can dominate player interactions. And if you choose not to participate in that well you are penalized with even less rewards and even slower growth. So your choice is stand there and be beat by those spending money to get something or don’t soend and slough on slowly ohhhh so slowly to advance. Nice choice

- Fun game but....

Like most games it can be free to play as long as you plan on playing for years to catch up to compete with the big boys although in saying that there is always people your level to compete with. You can easily spend a load of money to have the latest and greatest heroes. Saving 8000 ($80 worth) for a 30 hero pull does not guarantee you will get anything good. Most of all. The game is based around your ranking which is determined by the number of cups you gain in raids. Saying that. It would be great if they weren’t overly lopsided. You get daily tasks to defeat heroes in raids and as a reward you get food iron even gems key thing here being gems. They can’t give them away easily. You can basically determine if you have a chance or not by looking at the gems before you move them. Even if you greatly over powered your opponent. That doesn’t guarantee you a win. Especially if you need the win to collect those free gems. Overall a fun game. Just a lot of unfair moments and if anyone else out there like myself just wants to play a fair game. Then I don’t suggest this. An inexpensive game. I don’t suggest this. Meeting good people and working as a team. I suggest this game.

- DO NOT under any circumstances spend money on this game.

Been playing for years. Not a bad game and can be fun. Like so many others, eventually spent a little here and there to get better. Then spent more to get competitive. Then a lot more to be the best. So why the bad review? Because the developers refuse to make simple changes to improve the game and are now making huge changes that undo months and sometimes years worth of time, effort and money. It’s like spending and working on building a house only to be told after it’s done that a law is now passed making it illegal for people to live in houses. Sounds crazy, but that’s what you are dealing with here. You get suckered into spending money. Also, they now list odd for the paid gambling to get certain heroes - but the odds are complete bs and the outcomes are fixed. Nowhere else in life will you find the daily defiance of the odds to the extent of this ridiculousness. For example, the odds of getting something good (when you pay) may be listed at 30%. Yet you can go for it 20 times in a row and not get it even once. That’s a 1000 to 1 chance. Yet you will see this kind of thing over and over. And the odds of something bad may be 30% yet you will see it happen a 9 times in a row over and over. That’s a 1 in 50,000 chance. This game had a chance to be great and to be honest. It’s neither. Best to just stay away from this money pit.

- I have this game and I love it.

I have this game. I can tell you that no, it’s not a money sucking machine. No, it’s not that addicting (some furball thinks it is, THIS IS TO YOU STUPID FURBALL!!) me and my parents have this game and it was fun, we still play it time and time again, but I think of other games but this, this is something to pass the time, NOT SLOWLY MAKE YOU INSANE. It has great graphics and the story is awesome. I can tell you all that it’s not to hard. It’s matching colors and defeating monsters, that’s it. The only thing mom paid for is gems, and that was only once for me. Yes, there are tons of ad-like features when you log in, but all you have to do is bush X and then your free to play, no adds or anything! This game is great and anyone that thinks this game is stupid, or that it’s a money sucking machine are way to un-mature to be playing such a sophisticated game. It’s probably way to complicated for their tiny little rainwing brains (or tiny little jelly bean brains, you guys choose) Thank you for reading, Creators are Geniuses, and this game is great. Love, A~ the one who isn’t a rainwing, but a magestic Seawing.

- Used to be good

I’ve been playing this game since nearly its release. I’ve invested time and money into it for countless hours of entertainment. Game had its hiccups at first but the devs were good at updating and fixing them. It has a good social aspect as far as team play, given you find a good and active clan. However, in the past five months or so the game has been going downhill as far as gameplay. The loot system has been updated and now more difficult to win higher tier loot, so sad, and gaining 5* heroes. It’s a color matching puzzle game which you use to attack titans, monsters, as well as other players. On of the strategies in this game is using the color wheel in your favor, called stacking. Before the game felt a little more balanced giving you the colors you need, now it’s quite the opposite. The colors you need are ALWAYS far and few. The devs have indicated that Is not the case, but playing it will prove otherwise. So many people of posted this on the forums, however the devs (lying to their consumers) keep saying it’s not true. Posts have been locked and deleted. Although the game is free you can pay to hasten building, expanding, and pull heroes (random). As much time and money I put into this game I enjoyed it when the devs began seeing dollar signs instead of keeping their customers happy. No longer fun to play. So many other games out there that deserve my time.

- Hm. Not so much fun.

I started this as a fun way to do a match-3 game during my free time. Somehow, it turned into more of a chore than a fun adventure. The part I dislike the most, as some have mentioned, is the match-up during raids. I know the parameters and what they use to determine who you match with, but it still seems like it’s not fair either way and definitely not consistent at all. The amount of resources it takes to get anywhere in the game is a joke, even if you spend money, which is not a guarantee that you’ll get something you actually need/want. It would be different if, like other games, the money you spent got you what you needed all the time. But in this game, it’s a huge gamble and not worth the risk. I’m getting pretty tired of the whole process. It’s not fun anymore. The only good thing I kind of enjoy is the alliance I belong to, which isn’t even a high-ranked one, but it seems to have some fun people so I like that aspect. Now with the wars added, plus raids (which I still hate because there is zero consistency and the matching makes absolutely no sense still), plus the usual gameplay progression, Titans, AND quests/events... it seems like there’s too much going on in one game. Things happen so fast I barely get a chance to participate and that’s disappointing. Plus I feel to get anywhere in this game and to be a competitor, you have to spend money. Not cool.

- Fun game just a problem!

Ok.. so yeah I’m not really willing to spend my money on this game. I think the prices Are kind of high- but.. this is a really good game also it’s really fun! But I would also kind of like to just get a free daily reward.. Because I would have to pay for it every single day to get the offer for the Christmas daily offers.. I like that at least some of them are free. But not a lot are free.. I just don’t want to spend that much money on the game.. at Christmas time. Because your going to be using your money to buy presents and other things! So I am not really willing to spend my money💰 at this time. I would just enjoy if they would make the daily rewards all free!🙂 Otherwise I think this game is really fun I like playing all the levels and I like that you can get people by playing that level it really helps me get more characters when I play the levels. Because of the money I have to spend on this game to get the items that it offers me I rated it four stars. but I love this game so much! And I also recommend downloading it. Yeah so I just really think it is a awesome game for anyone to play!! Thanks for reading my review!!😊

- A pay to win match three game

This is a Puzzle & Dragon like game. Players can assign different heroes into the battle. Match the color corresponding gems to launch attacks and gain mana for the heroes with the same color. The match three gameplay is on the simple part since the purpose of the core gameplay is launch attacks. There’re 2 special combinations which will lead to different special matching. With such depth of the match three gameplay, the key factor of winning is not how good you are at making matches, but depends on the strength of your heroes and armies. That’s why, this game has a mobile SLG like meta system for the resource collection and growth. Players have to invest tons of time and resource to get random heroes cards. And use those cards as resources to upgrade the main heroes. It is a fine choice for this type of game, match three gameplay has its skill barriers for players. The limited steps and puzzles will conflict with the RPG type of battle which eventually leads to confusion and don’t know which is more important. So the current choice is a nice balance between match three gameplay and RPG like battle. Just the match three gameplay is too simple that it makes the game feels more like a pay to win game.

- Frustrating

This is the only game I have that I frequently consider deleting. I’ve been playing for a long time and I’m tired of the problems. I can’t believe the company cares so little about its customers that they won’t fix long-standing common complaints. If you think you can relax with this game, think again. The playing field is horribly tilted against you, leading to vast amounts of frustration. It doesn’t matter how good of a team you build, you’ll be dealt awful boards that guarantee your loss before you even make a move. This happens a LOT. The raid system sets you up for failure and the numbers they give for you to use to gauge your opponent’s power is not actually helpful. Teams rated significantly weaker than yours will annihilate you. Frequently. Also, once you manage to get one of the awesome top tier heroes, it can take a year to collect the excessively rare items you need to level them fully. That is, unless you’re willing to pay obscene amounts of money. Then it only takes maybe 6 months. This game does start out fun, has a ton of heroes & events, and continues to add new content, but it gets to be very frustrating before long. Until they finally address these issues, save yourself the trouble. Don’t play.

- Absolutely pay to win

Go ahead and play this game and you will quickly see that it is a pay to win. You pay money to increase your chances of obtaining items. You can pay money to get guaranteed items. If you pay money and have a guaranteed that you can advance you player then it’s a pay to win. Forget the reviews saying otherwise. They blitz you with constant Ad’s to entice you to spend more money to level your characters faster than people who don’t. Don’t be fooled. If you start this game today and never spend money then you will still be at the bottom 5 years from now wondering why you spend so much time on this wasted pay to win game. The other stupid issue with this game is that the programmers handicap the attacker severely. I mean severely. They tamper with the “board” to make it very difficult to beat someone. They do this by reducing the needed colors for your team. They also protect the defenders from dying when low on health. This is extremely frustrating. You may have 500+ power on your opponents and they still win. You can totally dominate a team and kill 3 or 4 out the 5 only to have them all revive at full mana and wipe out your team. Totally stupid. I give this game a 0 stars and tell you not to waste your time on this game. Find another game that’s more enjoyable to play.

- Addicting

Definitely your candy crush alternative but with an interesting story to go with it (though the main characters seem to be a little under powered). I want to give this a higher rating but all of the pop ups you get whenever you open the app are ridiculous! It’s like opening a virus ridden website and the fact that the button you press to buy things is right where you’d put your finger to swipe is stupid and begging for cash. The wait times for things are crazy (a week for training and 15 hours for an item?!). The level system for tournaments and even raids can be all over the place (sometimes you’re matched with somebody waaay over powered for you in the tournaments and there is nothing you can do about it). The algorithm system has to be broken. There are way too many times I’ve lost battles because the enemy will be on one side of the screen but nothing will match until it’s too late. Besides all of that it’s fun and forces you to learn strategy. I appreciate all of the characters and how you can level them and their unique skills. Definitely something to fill your time until the really long wait times kick in. Have fun!

- Great game, developers read?

This game is very well made and thought out. The heroes are awesome and it doesn’t objectify or degrade female heroes with their outfits. I love the alliances. There are just a few things that made me take away a star. 1. First, I wish we could trade within our alliance. Maybe after being in it for a certain period of time? I’m sure you guys have heard this before. 2. Regarding the titan, the game is out to get you. I had 3 fire heroes against a green titan. I had maybe a total of 2 or 3 red shields on the board at a time for the entire round. This always happens. Also, when my heroes have full mana and it’s at the end of the round, that’s when I’ll magically get combo after combo instead of being able to use my mana. 3. The wait times are crazy long. I’m sorry but 7 days for an upgrade is crazy. We also use way more ore than food yet require less mines than food production? Anyway, this game really is good and I’ve been playing for over a year now. I’ve made friends in the alliance and the developers really take the time to make the app better for everyone. Their sales/specials are often and fair. I love it :)

- The Best A Mobile Game Can Get

This game has the perfect balance of RPG, base-building, online interaction, and puzzles. It has great features and more than one or two things to do in the entirety of the game. We need more of these rather than poorly programmed cheap games that took a day to make. Empires & Puzzles has great alliance features and account safety so you don’t have to worry about trolls and hackers. I like how you can choose to watch ads instead of the game popping up and forcing you to watch ads all the time. This game is good enough I would’ve figured it would cost money, but it’s completely free! The only complaint I have is that there are offers in the game that can cause pay-to-win people that you can’t defend yourself in a raid or win an alliance war. I love the base-building feature and the raid mechanics. The graphics are great and this game deserves more credit than it’s given. Overall great game and I would recommend it to anyone who loves RPG, team-building, and puzzle games that have an adventurous feel wrapped around it like a blanket.

- Once upon a time

Once upon a time this was a fantastic game. But since the December purchase this game has failed miserably. That was when corporate mogul Zynga purchased little giant. I have seen a game where you could find rare heroes and get decent in game drops decline into a game all about the almighty dollar. They say it’s free but unless you pay to play you will never advance. Case in point five star heroes. I have a few teams of them. However I have not picked up a single one since prior to last December. I have a moderately strong team as well (4100 power strong). Since the takeover the in game trophy count I have continues to fall. I cannot in any way shape or form even beat a team at 3500 power be it in war or raid mode. It’s not about my team mix for it is strong. It is about how utterly random the tiles lay out for an individual player. In conclusion unless a new player is willing to spend a lot of money on this game said new player has little to no room to truly ever grow and become powerful. As in most other Zynga platform games, what once was a fun game is now a ridiculous waste of time and energy for a player to have fun in a free game for the greedy corporation has decided it’s all about the money. A one time 5 star rating I have is changed to a 1 star rating. Avoid this game unless you are truly willing to spend heavy.

- Great game... BUT...

Question for the developers - Will you come out and admit here that in order to progress much beyond medium levels, you must spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to defeat the built in cheats? I mean there’s no shame in that, but I started playing this game because I thought it wouldn’t be that way. Once you reach a certain level (around 2500 team points) all of a sudden, raid matchups are never equal and you spend tens of thousands in food just to get a fair matchup. The gem colors in puzzles start tilting in favor of the opponent (ie you can’t build mana for your more powerful characters in matches) and finding the items you need to ascend your characters becomes nearly impossible - you can’t even buy them outright - you have to buy packs or “chances” at the option to win the items which, of course, never happens. Finally -and while this is fair it’s frustrating - the people who have spent thousands of dollars have all fully ascended, five star teams that are impossible to beat if you’re a lowly pauper like me. So c’mon developers - can you give us the confirmation or give us a hint of how to advance play if you’re going to try and say none of the above is the case?

- Awesome

As far as I’m concerned, this is the best game out there. It’s like they took the fun parts of other games, and put them all in one. Gem matching for the battles, town building for infrastructure, hero cards for strategy... PvE for basic fights, PvP for raids, team PvP for wars. Find the right alliance for yourself, whether you want chatty, intense, casual... it’s all out there. They even have auto play if you want to redo lower levels for rewards, so you can do real life and just tap and have it go! You can definitely play for free. I did for awhile, but my personal philosophy is that if I like a game and play it a lot, then I want to pay the game makers for the product. I do pay for this game (get a feel for the deals, and wait for a sale). But, I get a ton of fun from this, and play it a lot, and I love my alliance which has terrific people in it, so I am getting good value. If you spend money on games, then I suggest setting an annual limit, and looking for deals along the way. Like I said, just personal philosophy; you can play for free with no problem, just advancing slower than those who pay something.

- Listen to everyone that is saying it’s a money grabber!

This game started out being fun, unfortunately I didn’t read the reviews warning not to spend money. I have spent too much money trying to get top tier heroes. I got a few at first, then I noticed I had mysteriously lost about four of them. I got a quick warning that if I didn’t sign in, someone could steal your heroes but I thought they were talking about signing into Game Center. The warning would flash by really quick so I don’t know what I need to sign into. I joined the alliance so that i could play the wars, i think however if you win you should get more lives than just three. The timing is terrible because sometimes you play against alliances that have the opposite time zone so by the time you’re awake and free to play, you end up playing the players that are the top players and you don’t have equal power, you get creamed! Or worse, you never had a chance to play. I won’t be spending anymore money but because I spent an embarrassingly large amount of money already, I will continue to play.

- SGG Should Take Notes

I have been playing empires and puzzles for three years. There are many positives about this game, hence my continued engagement. That said, there are many areas of improvement that the developer has continued to ignore despite many recommendations from players. I would encourage SGG to review Call of Antia. This game has a far superior summoning and tile RNG, better animation, more engaging music, and more accessible features for a free to play or pay to play player. SGG has continued to ignore the complaints about 5* summons, PvP and war mechanics, and the seemingly favoritism shown towards players who spend more. Empires and puzzles is not a balanced game, it is a cash whale. I find myself anticipating logging into Call of Antia far more than I do empires and puzzles. Empires and puzzles has become the lesser game. Buyer beware, this game is far more interested in your ability to spend than the time you spend playing. To point, I’m sure I will get a form letter or blanket response that is typical to this developer, but if you are a bored player (of which there are many) or even a new one, try the newer game with the better mechanics. SGG: take note of Call of Antia. You have become outclassed and made obsolete.

- Leszek Moon

Great game!!! Huge minuses is getting ancession material it takes a lot of time to get it! And also feeding heroes takes so much food. Last level 5* hero takes 5000 health it’s around 35 heroses in one level. That’s two huge minus of this game the other way it’s fine. In my opinion ancession material should be available to buy anytime in game store. Game is very disappointing because difficulty of maxed out your heroes that’s make players very frustrated. That’s the reason why people leave this game. Generally game is very interesting but small gigant should fix this two things. Feeding one her to max 80 level is taking a month it’s crazy who have nerve for that. Before you start play think about it. Hope so company will fix that problem and for the future process to feeding heroes will be much faster. And also players who spend money on this game should be treated better getting better lot and rewards. And also pull should be better for people who did second pull. Each pull should be better not worst. Thanks and have fun playing game

- I just ragequit this game.

I played for over a year and managed to level up an “okay” team of 4* heroes. After a year, I finally got a 5*, but her development stalled out at “level 70” for lack of the proper ascension material. This number is meaningless, though, because to get to “level 70” I actually had to ascend at 40, start back at 1, ascend to 50, start back at 1, ascend at 60, start back at 1, and then make it to the level 70 threshold FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF 220 LEVELS, and there are another 80 levels after that! But what really made me quit was the wholly improbable lack of matches during battles. The enemy can clobber you and gain mana every turn, yet your mana only grows when you make a match. The enemy can target your most important heroes first (looking at you, healers), but you can only play whatever will match, even if it means triggering an enemy special that will kill you. The game breaks its own rules in an effort to make you pay for gems that let you “continue the fight!” And during wars, the enemy gets even more buffs. My entire five-hero team was taken out by a single healer who literally couldn’t die because it received extra heals on top of its own. This game sucked me in for way too long, and in the end it gave me nothing but aggravation. I wanted to like it, but I just don’t need it in my life.

- TL;DR: Get this game!

I love this game. Are there issues? Of course! But the game is engaging and overall fun to play. You can raid other players for trophies and resources (food and iron, the in-game currencies). You can join alliances and battle titans every day, and with a recent add-on you can now battle other alliances in epic PvP Alliance Wars. The biggest complaint I have seen is that the loot isn’t always great. No, it’s not. But if you got everything you needed to be able to ascend every single hero from titan loot, you would be bored with the game and complain that it’s too easy. The point of the game is to grow slowly at a marathon pace, not finish it in two months at a sprint. Sure, you can buy gems and get those epic heroes quickly, but you still have to play the game to get the materials needed to level those legendary heroes. There’s always going to be someone who has better heroes, stronger teams, and more hams than you. That just gives you something to strive for in the game. In all, it’s a great long-term game with a great community. If you want instant gratification in a game, play Mario Kart.

- Terrible design

As others have pointed out, it’s gonna cost an INSANE amount of money to EVEN HAVE A CHANCE to climb the ranks. You can drop $100 on the largest gem bundle and you are not guaranteed to get even one top tier item/hero/etc. The alternative is to spend literally months grinding out the same boring levels to build up resources in the hopes that you can get what you need to progress and upgrade a single hero. No exaggeration, expect 3-5 pop ups every single time you open the app trying to get you to buy stuff. Porn sites have fewer pop ups. I’ve played other games with in app purchases, but this is a whole new level of money sink. To give an example, clash of clans also offers gems for purchase. However, you can get exactly what you want upgraded if you choose to spend money. Here, not only do you get fewer gems per dollar, but this is basically buying pulls on the lever of a slot machine. I don’t even know how that’s legal while I cannot play online poker because that’s “gambling.” Absolutely everything in the game is luck based, skill is not even a factor. You’ll get a lot more for your time and (if you choose) money elsewhere. Unless you have a couple thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket, or a couple hours a day for the next year or so, avoid this one.

- Greatly designed game!!

I have been playing this game for over 3 years, and have seen it progress overtime. In my experience, most of the people saying that the game is only “pay to win” are people the who have only been playing the game for a little bit. Yes, the chances of getting a 5 star are low, but even for people that pay the chances are the same. Unfortunately I did lose my account (100% my fault I got a new phone) and I now have no five stars at all, however this is not a problem, as the way the game is designed, my team of max four stars has beaten a team of max five stars. The other thing that a lot of people don’t understand is, that this game takes time. You not gonna speed run the game (unless you wanna spend thousands of dollars) you have to take the time to get your hero’s, level them up, and improve them through multiple different ways. Overall this is a fun, addicting, and balanced game. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see what comes out next!!

- Decent game, pushes for money a lot

Overall I think the game is pretty good on its own. The developers did a good job with the story and character designs. Bad part is that it’s all about money. Every time you log in and everything you do, there’s a notification to spend money. You can progress through the story very slowly and grind for a long time or spend money and progress at a decent rate. You can participate in raids and guild wars but unless you’ve put months in or spent money you won’t do very well for a long time. It’s a serious problem but I doubt it will ever change. The game also has a way to completely keep the board void of a color or provide an extremely limited number of the color creating issues for matches and what not. It’ll also cut you down to one move at a time from the start and you won’t be able to get combos. Honestly, the game just plays as if it wants to frustrate you to spend money. It would be an amazing game if the developers didn’t push so much to make a buck. Sorry to see something good ruined like this.

- Painful pleasure

This game is incredible, i barely have 1 5 star hero but I still love the game. A lot of people are leaving reviews saying “5 star heroes are too rare” or “ epic ascension items are too rare” but you don’t really need them until you are far in the game. If you play your cards right and you get the right setup, you can do just fine with only 4 star heroes and I have actually seen somebody in the top ten leaderboard that had a 3 star in their defense team. If you lose your temper easily this is not the game for you. It takes a long time to get the things that you want and some levels are incredibly challenging and I have even wanted to rage quit before. If you are patient and want a game that you can play daily then this is the game for you. Heck, you can even choose not to attack titans or anything as long as you choose the right alliance. 9/10 would recommend.

- Beware…

As many others before me have mentioned, this game is all about the money regardless of how it’s disguised. It will seem manageable to start off, but quickly becomes too difficult to progress unless you spend spend spend. The ironic part about it, is that spending guarantees you absolutely nothing! In fact, the more you spend, the more frustrated you will be that you did and got hardly anything, and nothing that you will feel is worth your money. The upper levels are even more difficult and the thing about this is you will need to upgrade your hero’s to even be competitive so you will feel the urge to keep trying for better hero’s but the odds are like .001 that you will receive one. Shameful money grab. You will read that you can play for free, but believe me, you can’t beat anyone or progress for free. This is ridiculous. Don’t fall for it...... I haven’t spent nearly as much as others and it’s apparent. My hero’s are stuck waiting endlessly to be upgraded, I don’t have a 5* hero and I get beat or loose all the time to those you do. This is no puzzle game either. The boards are controlled in some manner and you will lose in the end. Don’t take my word for it, read the reviews or better yet go to the actual community forum.

- Don’t bother spending money

I’ve played for over 4 years and the game isn’t bad to casual play but don’t waste money buying gems or summons. I’ve spent my last dollar on this game from doing so. The last 2 special events, I bought enough to get 20 hero summons each event. In 20 summons I got the same 3 star hero 5 times and another 3 star hero 7 times. 13 rolls with the same 2 heroes. The last event, 20 summons I got one 3star hero 5 times, another 3 star 4 times and another of the same hero 2 times. Over half of the summons and only got 3 hero’s. The odds of this happening not once but 2 different events twice are astronomical and their summoning system is rigged so you’ll spend more money. After contacting them to get my money back when it happened the second time, I was pretty much told, there wasn’t anything wrong with their system and everything is done fairly and the issue was closed. This not only happened to me but also another player in the alliance I belong to. The more money you spend, the more disappointed you’ll be.

- Games are drugs

By now most people realize that video games are dopamine dealers. This game is no exception. Sure, many games like this one are free to play. The thing is, things like rewards trigger that dopamine response and make us feel good. Things like getting a bad board or getting beaten up by much stronger player (who probably paid a lot of money to power up) will make some players want to buy things in order to feel better again - by winning and getting more rewards. This game makes MILLIONS - look it up. It does it by being brilliant in its character designs that slightly resemble figures in pop culture and its system of rewards and punishment. The punishment by other players and by the board generators will make people want to buy power ups in order to feel better. I’ve played this game a couple of years and have spent some money on it, but I’m also aware of what’s going on. So you have to know yourself and understand that if you lack impulse control, you might be better off with a video game without in-app purchases.

- Only for big spenders

I was a huge fan of the game from launch, and have happily spent a fair amount on the game. It’s always been an expensive game; you won’t make it to the top of the rankings unless you spend considerably. And if you don’t have the top ‘key’ hero’s your chances of winning any of the top rewards is practically non-existent. It is and has become a game that is exclusively geared towards the top spenders only. They continue to reduce the drop rates of 5* hero’s, so even spending large amounts gets you nil. The rewards system hasn’t been updated since launch, so at a certain level your progress comes to a screeching halt (unless you spend like a mega whale). And they continually nerf the more common hero’s, but don’t nerf the rare super powerful hero’s that only a handful of their highest spenders have. They updated POV recently to add rewards for completing early, but then made it significantly harder (lower completion points) so the update is moot for any but the top paying players. I still play because of my investment, but won’t spend in the game again. I would not recommend this game to anyone who doesn’t want to make frequent large purchases.

- Game is cheating players

This is really a fun game that has room for leadership and teamwork. The problem is after 2 years of playing the game owners decide that no matter how much money a person spends you can no longer get any top pulls, you can’t get the ascension items needed to fully level those same hero’s if you even get one. And then worse of all the matchmaking for war is completely unfair. If your top team is 3500 then your match should be 3500 but noooooooooo I get 4K match. During war you can no longer get and color tiles to play mono. Hero’s are being lowered because players know how to play and they want you to spend more and get nothing in return. Most people have hundreds or thousands invested in this game and yet we can’t even get HotM after spending over 1000 gems (100$). The special event pulls are worthless too. Nothing but 3* feeders and if your lucky enough to get a 4* it’s a feeder too. No special event 5* after spending hundreds on gems to do pulls. It really is ridiculous that the game isn’t rewarding ppl for playing! And cheating players at every turn and yet we continue to play because the game is fun, and we have to much invested with friends n money to quit, it’s just not fair.

- Long term player, disappointed in new direction

I’ve been playing this game since a month after it’s release. So, 2+ years. I’ve spent money, I have a decent team. But I’ve seen the devs add more and more ways to get you to spend Even more money. Loot has become increasingly lower, and good hero pulls less and less common. There are constantly ways to get you to spend. $3 here, $.99 here, $20 there, it’s annoying to have to click past five offers every time I start the game. The addition of a goblin crate is such crap with you having to pay $3.99 to unlock the junk loot they should give you for free. Or, you can trade in the good items for a bunch of junk food and iron. My food and iron are constantly full because I have nothing to spend it on anymore. The rewards are too low for someone who has their farms and storage maxed out. I can’t possibly craft or create enough to keep my banks from constantly being full . The ninja tower is stupid and a way to get you to waste all of your saved resources. I’ve been extremely disappointed in the way this game has been changing. It was fun, now it’s a greedy money trap.

- Blatant money grabber

These developers are master class. It’s fun and addictive...at first. Honestly you won’t be able to put it down. It’s a well thought out rouse to get you hooked and then you’ll eventually reach a point where you can’t advance without paying. I’m not jaded and venting because I’ve spent a bunch of money and now regretting it. I’m actually impressed with how they did this. Listen folks. I have spent hundreds of dollars on this game. And I know what your thinking. But no, I’m not just venting. I don’t mind spending the money. It was entertaining and I had my fun. But really people, there’s no end to it. The money only buys you so much game play ability and then you’ll have to pay more to advance again. I was heart broken to read reviews about people who finally got a 4 star warrior. I have 5 teams all made up of 4 and 5 star warriors and I literally can’t finish the first story. I invite any developers reading this to look at my game profile and tell me And everyone else that I’m lying. If you are a person of means and can afford to spend the money, than feel free to do so. But be warned, spending that money will only get you to the next step. Rest assured, you’ll need to spend more to see what comes next.

- Not a game for impatient people

I have been playing this game for about 4 years now. For the first 18 months I made a point of not paying for a single thing. I had been sucked into the money pit that was Vikings and I didn’t want to go down that path again! Whatever sad stories you hear in negative reviews, this game can be played without spending a single thing. Where people, myself included, do end up spending money is in the later stages of the game when upgrades take longer - again, you don’t have to, but I chose to. If you want to get the most out of the game, be patient and also join an Alliance. If you do join an Alliance, make sure that you contribute daily or every couple of days at least - as a courtesy. Time-wise, you can get away with 30 minutes a day - unlike the old days of Angry Birds, when you stopped playing when your phone ran out of charge! I am lucky to be in a positive Alliance, it is after all - just a game. :-)

- Suggestion for accessibility

There needs to be a way to turn off all the flashing/high animation. Staff have made a good attempt to let you dim colours but all the flashing/animation esp of special moves is extremely difficult for someone with sensory overload/autism/visual issues. I LOVE the game that the premise is simple, colour matching to win, bonus content like building characters. But any type of flashing without warning or options to turn it off can be both upsetting and dangerous to neurodivergent or epileptic people. I've been playing for ages and being disabled/sick I love just mindlessly playing, when I can't do anything else but I have serious trouble competing in raids and special levels bc I get sick from overstimulation. There should be an option where you can play old levels for free with either no or low rewards so that you aren't constantly shut out by the timers. Yes, if you want to do extra stuff I understand why you might pay for gems etc (I have sometimes) but being constantly shut out of the game is alienating people who love it. Even if you got to play until you lost x amount of times, that'd be something. Also if you've worked to gain things for a special summon and you've done the work, it isn't fair that the summon theme ends and you're waiting for months for it to circulate back. Also you should be able to sell excess items for rewards like gems or plays etc. I think if they fixed this stuff you'd have 5x the player base :)

- Grind Or Greed

Been playing for 4 years. Probably dropped over au$500 on the game and feel mid-level. The grind becomes a habitual effort lacking enjoyment. The rewards are few and far between. I play this game out of habit not because I enjoy it anymore. Don’t expect much if you’re not going to pay, don’t expect much more if you do pay unless you plan on dropping hundreds of dollars into the game and even then you’ll still be disappointed. They bring out more OP heroes to entice you, and your old heroes that you spent so much time, and maybe money, on become redundant. It’s frustrating when the computer controlled characters that exactly the same as yours will do 30-50% more damage than your own. I was told it was to compensate for poor AI driving the opponents in battles. The developers don’t care. At the end of the day you’ve got a casual game to play and they just want you to spend money on it. The gameplay and outcomes are rigged to a subtle degree to make you spend more money on it. Don’t waste 4 years on this game like I did; it will just leave you feeling ripped off and empty.

If you have and endless cash supply devoted to lining the pockets of the developers then download this game. Could not be a more rigged game available to play. If I could give this game less than zero stars I would. Raids are pre determined before you start, and do not get me started on the alliance wars they cannot be more rigged. DO NOT invest your time or god forgive, you money to this game you will be sorely disappointed. I wish I had the terminology to explain the back end reasoning for it being such a terrible game to play. All I can say is if the game, or the algorithms decide that you are not going to win, it matters not how strong your team is nor how much money you spend nor does it matter how weak your opponent is, you are NOT going to defeat your opponent if it is pre-determined that you will lose. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. I have already spent too much time on this review considering the developers will simply either ignore it and it not be posted or create some type of excuse for the blatant rigging of this game.

- Greedy game with greedy developers.

You progress fast at the beginning. Then, all of a sudden, progress slows to snail speed and the only way to get anywhere is to use your gems. These don’t last long, and there are very expensive options to buy more that won’t last long. Also, the enemies become very powerful at the same time, and the colour combos you need to defeat them become more rare. This doubles the lives you need to defeat the enemies. While this is happening, the heroes you can get from replaying earlier levels become more scarce. Meanwhile, all the upgrades cost a lot more food and iron (or gems), so upgrading buildings takes forever. Of course, as the building levels increase, the time they take to upgrade is far too long. Playing the game slows to a grinding halt and isn’t enjoyable anymore. I’m about to delete it. Shame, because it’s a well designed game ruined by greedy developers. Not worth it.

- Decent game

When you first start you move up quickly but like all games the stronger you get the harder it gets. If you want to keep progressing quickly you have to pay for it but from what everyone keeps telling me this is one of the few games where if you don’t want to spend money you don’t have you. You will get where you want to be but it just requires patience (or A LOT of patience some times). Pay attention to the odds they give you when you spend gems to buy hero’s/troops THEY ARE REAL ODDS so don’t delude yourself in thinking otherwise. As a heads up they have the option for a second builder, if you truely want to help yourself you really need that, it’s cheap for what it gives you in the game.

- Excellent at start, terrible later on

When you start playing this, it's great. Progression occurs quickly and you can move through the main quest map at reasonable speed. Later on, enemies get far too hard, so you need to upgrade buildings and craft items to progress. This is of course, natural. However, it takes FOREVER to upgrade and craft stuff. I'm probably midway? through the game and I have to wait THREE DAYS for some process to finish (upgrading or crafting or training) During this time, you can't do 2 of the same process, so, you're locked out from making any further progression. Unless you've bought a second builder or use gems. My main gripe with this game is the cost of everything. For me, the cheapest option for gems is 7 or 8 bucks for 400 gems. Put this into perspective: some of the LONG upgrades cost OVER 1000 gems. And this is just for ONE upgrade. How much does the developer(s) expect their players to pay? Ridiculous! For me, personally, I just play this VERY casually. So, I can wait for things. But for many others, I think the cost of things with real money and the HUGE wait times will turn people away. Be prepared to pay A LOT of money or wait A VERY LONG TIME.

- Absolutely love this game

Thank you to the developers who work continuously on this game. I have been playing for approximately 4 years and have not spent any money on the game. This game has made the purchase of my Apple phone worthwhile . I have been a part of a few different alliances during my game time and everyone has been supportive and great team players. So have have fun ,play and discover, as you can see from the reviews you will be a part of the empires and puzzles team for years to come

- Don’t waste your money

I played this game for a long time and I think like all games it’s run its course all developers seem to do this when the find a hit, they get greedy and this one is no exception, I loved this game but now it’s not worth the dollars I have hero’s I can not level after 5 years and I spend!! The drop rates are off and for an intelligent gamer the algorithm that controls play is horribly obvious it was a good game and time killer when I started and you could even go F2P and still have a good go with a competitive team if you were patent but it’s lost so much as the developer tried to get more money out of its players. This was a winner but it’s just lost that feel and it comes down to the dollar

- Good start but shine wears quickly

The game starts as a reasonable match 3 hero collecting, alliance building game with a simple story and PvP elements. However it falls down quickly. While you progress quickly early on, you then become stuck in a grind for better heroes and ascension items, which are few and far between...unless you are willing to part with some serious money. The biggest issue is that once you get around to level 20-25, your progress slows down so much that it's a very long grind to get anywhere, often waiting for months on end to get items to ascend your heroes...if you're lucky. Have a look, but you'll soon see why many long term gamers have become frustrated.

- A game for the rich or the patient

Nice game design, gets you hooked early for the first 5 or 6 levels, before things get harder and more time consuming. I’m enjoying it, but not expecting to finish this in a week, looks like it will take months to progress through all the levels. You can, of course, speed this process up by large injections of cash. EDIT: Many months later, I’m still hooked, but haven’t spent a cent. I’ll never get all the heroes, and may never finish all the building upgrades as they keep releasing more levels, but the good news is you don’t really need to. Still a fun game to kill some time.

- Greedy and rigged

This game was totally awesome in the early days however it is now more boring than watching the grass grow in your backyard. Developers are way too greedy and will eventually ruin this game completely. Everything takes forever!!! From upgrades to leveling up heroes or summoning them. Free players don’t seem to get anywhere fast, spending a couple of bucks here and there seemed to half the time and get things moving along well for a short while. Players who spend thousands of dollars get there quickly but lose interest as game is very repetitive with nothing to look forward too. I guess I’m in the group of players who spent couple of dollars ($100 or less) and was able to drag the fun for a while but fun is gone and time to delete the game.

- Trade hero’s

For the next update on empires and puzzle can we be able to trade hero’s and things with other people in our alliances. So when you tap on the person when they are online there can be a button where it says trade player and then on the screen it will pop up with (person)would like to trade with you accept or decline. If this really happens it would really be appreciated thank you if you do

- Cash cow getting milked dry

A good concept and even somewhat enjoyable in the game but this is a very typical pay to win game. Perhaps not even typical actually since it is so ravenous. To put it in perspective, $7 will get you 400 gems. This will buy you a single hero that will be anywhere between tier 3 and 5 (though the way these things are weighted that is almost definitely a 3). Without having paid anything into the game, it took about 10 days to get the gems for that. Combine that with the options in that buy a hero screen have options for buy 10 or buy 30 at once, it is pretty absurd how much these developers are expecting you to spend just to get to roll their weighted dice. Strong concept torn down by excessive greed.

- Not worth it

You start off the game quick and strong, upgrading your troops fast and cheaply. Up until now the game is great and good fun, however, very quickly greedy developers want you to spend your own real money as upgrading becomes very expensive and takes a long time. Gameplay becomes extremely difficult and eventually simply isn’t worth it!! Progress in the game comes to a standstill and it is at this stage (a week into it for me) that you decide to write a review warning others. I can hon stay tell you don’t bother...it is one of those games where the only way to progress after reaching a certain point (once you have been hooked) is to spend your own hard earned dollars...what a waste!

- Alright not as bad as people say

So I have had this before but I got a new device had to start all over again takes a while to get back to where I was if u spend money in the game it’s really expensive it does help u progress I chose not to looking at all the prices at the start it is really fun and exciting but as u get better at it so does the Enemies slow to progress but still fun I play it most days but takes a long time to upgrade overall it’s a good game like it but really slow be prepared to be stuck on a level for a while 👍

- Work hard for progress

Fun game with minimal back-story - but hey, the game mechanics are solid. As with all FTP games, if you’re not one of those PTW (Pay To Win) people with deep pockets, then as expected it’s a bit of a grind to get the high end heroes as well as the required materials to ascend them. It’s ridiculous how other reviewers rate the game down because you have to put in a bit of effort to reach the end-game. If you don’t have the patience to work on your deck, then pay for it. That’s not a flaw of the game. It’s working exactly as designed. Kudos for not requiring players to log on at certain times in order to get free energy or anything like that. Relaxed gameplay, but won’t appeal to lazy players who expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter (I.e. not for those who don’t have a modicum of patience).

- Don’t put any money into this game

The games is ok, but the over reliance on “random” means you need to pour thousands into this game if you want to have a consistently fun time playing. The random aspect of battles mean unless you way over power the other fighter you will lose a lot. My progress has stalled not going to make any gains until the create heroes building I have gives me a legendary rare drop. The new area to do PvE in is nice but it was locked to 3 provinces soon was cleared in a weekend nothing much left to do, but log on, use up the resources auto playing and log off again. Sad I really enjoyed the first few months, now it feels like a WoW grind for a tiny gain.

- Paywall Scam

I have now had enough of this game and its cash grab scam. Yes the game is fun make absolutely no mistake, but don't be fooled as the fun doesn't last forever. I always throw some bucks at a free game if I enjoy it. So far I have thrown down $22 for absolutely nothing. I get it that the game becomes difficult at a certain point and there is your paywall, if you enjoy the game enough ”pay” a little to carry on, if not no probs, stop playing. But when you pay to unlock better characters to get you past this point only to find out its a chance like 1% of getting something useful I get angry at the developers greed. My $22 has literally got me the same nonsense you get for free!!! Like I say, good game, to a point.

- Patience

A fun game which isn’t so much a PTW, if you’ve got the patience. I jump in for around 25 mins a day and that’s about enough time to drain the energy meters and upgrade heroes, then I forget about it until the next day. Alliance features are a really cool mechanic which has kept me around and people are overall really friendly in this app. Well done, I like this game.

- What a con job!

This game is all about extracting $,£,€,¥... It’s designed to get every dime out of you! And will give you nothing but disappointment in return! I wished I had never given them my $$$! But I will promise you this, I won’t give you not another dime! If you are a beginner, take this warning! There are so many other games that give you a fair run for your money! Try playing Raid, MythWars, war of Valhalla and three kingdom! I promise you all of them will treat you better! Don’t waste your money on this stupid game! And heads up, no point in complaining to their support! As they have pre scripted paragraphs ready for you, and will respond with some BS comment that how every aspect of this game is all assigned by some random algorithm designed to give away mats, heroes, troops, tiles throughout the game! TRUST ME, DONT BELIEVE ANY OF THEIR BS Stories! Also I am putting together a class action, to make E&P pay back all the money we have wasted here! I will keep you all posted, when the time comes to join-in, in this class action!

- Greedy developers

Decent game, love my alliance thats the only reason im still playing this game, however getting only 2 hero of the month and 1 monthly event challenge hero in over 2 1/2 years of playing is a joke, with over hundreds of $$$ spent, dont waste money on this game guys. Greedy developers I’ve done 4x over 40k gems and got absolutely nothing. This game is rigged, if you spend $$$ its program will not give anything so you spend more $$$. Odds are a joke, they say its based on luck, pppffftttttt right. Please explain how the people in diamond arena has so many Telluria. I’ve done over 35 pulls and got absolutely nothing but 3 star heros. Don’t waste your hard earn cash for this trash game ods.

- Game player

Not sure what the last reviewer wanted from a game , but I find it enjoyable and addictive, yes upgrades take a long time , yes you need to spend gems if your that way inclined, I haven’t bought any gems just accumulated through rewards , yes the way the tiles fall can be frustrating but I still come back and try to work out which hero’s suit different conditions. All in all a good time killer that takes time to build up a team to compete against higher grades.

- A pleasure to play

Played a lot of mobile games over the years and the majority require a lot of real money to advance as well as being online for long periods of time else you get out Found this a much more pleasurable game where its up to the individual to pay to win rather then being bombarded with ads to purchase items. Gratz to developers great game to play at my leasure

- Annoying

Algorithm and logic is rubbish. Annoying at its finest. If the raids are written to allow you to win more trophies if the component has higher team power and holds more trophies than you. That is Always the case for those raiding me, but don’t apply when I raid others. Unfair and annoying. Boards should be decent, doesn’t allow you to have a fair chance at raids or maps. This has in-app purchases, it is crazy how you should pay more than the average money to progress in this game. Also don’t understand how this game has ranking 4.6. Would delete this app ASAP but choose to co play with my partner. Dumbest game ever.

- Annoying

These constant updates are getting ridiculous! It’s as if I’m having to update twice a week now! Just a second ago I was MID GAME and it kicked me out forcing me to update. Also the levels are getting almost impossible to complete. It was fun at the beginning but now the developers are getting too greedy, thinking about the amount of money I’ve spent buying gems to upgrade hero’s is the only reason why I’m still playing, just so I can get my money’s worth. Next “update” message I receive I’m going to delete the app for good. What a shame 👎🏼

- Hard start but good end!

Early game is really hard to get about but the more i play the easier it gets well this is mostly a pay to win game but im doing grinding daily and see ive not spent anything and got myself two 5 stars hero! All hero are pure luck so no hard feelings! I think this game is unique its not like other games i played it dont stress you out like gardenscape! I totally recommend this game to others!!

- One of the best games I’ve ever played

I always keep coming back to this game (which is saying something since I’ve got like eighteen games on my phone that I’ve gone off of but I’m too lazy to delete) and every aspect of it enthralls me. I’m part of the best alliance and the members of said alliance never fail to make me smile. 100% recommend this game

- Need Food

Nice game, ruined by greedy leveling and raiding concepts that force you to buy gems. If you have will power and don’t mind a slow progression then you’ll be fine if you lean on the other side of the fence good luck and I hope you have a good income to support this very addictive game. I won’t buy the gems as I feel that there is little value overall and as some of the other poster have said they don’t last very long. Nice game could be better if the costs to level and raid were not so high.

- Don’t ask questions

I was enjoying the game. I’ve spent a bit of money building up my account. Then I found a charge on my credit card that I didn’t remember making. I asked for information about the purchase and what I got back was a refund of $7.99. I didn’t ask for a refund. Then they charged me 2,000 gems which is worth a lot more than $7.99. I have two weeks to pay back the 2,000 gems or they will permanently suspend my account. Trying to reason with them is like talking to a robot. I doesn’t make any sense.

- Meh

I tried this and found the matching gems part helped me get to sleep at night, so I continued playing - it still works well for that. The rest of the game is heavily geared towards people who can afford to spend what I would call “a lot” of money - the kind of money that would buy you a nee PlayStation game on a regular enough basis that you’d never have to touch this again. You can still play for free, but be prepared to grind for years and years and always be behind those who are willing to $pend.

- Slow and money hungry

Am still relatively new but progress has slowed considerably , waiting a day for castle to update (really) oh forgot the fast fix just spend gems. I am willing to spend if the gains are worthwhile, to test this I have purchased the monthly VIP pack , let’s see how you treat your VIPs.? You only get one chance to keep me as a PAYING customer , don’t waste it.

- Money grabber

One of those games where everything takes ages when you don’t spend money on gems. In the end you never get satisfied anyways as it’s pretty much based on luck (how often the right jewels line up). Youll also find that depending on how you line up your troops, the game has very “convenient” way of playing against you and respawning the kind of jewel you dont bank on or simply placing them in the disadvantageous spots. Frustrating more than entertaining.

- Tripped

This game falls flat at the feet of other similar story alliance building games because of the awkward and sad dialogue choices. I could go into how the games algorithm stops you from progressing if you don’t buy or grind for months, but I don’t really need to, to say why this is a mediocre ,at best, game. To be honest just my opinion I don’t like the cutscenes. It just feels like the game tripped, fell on it’s face and decided “This is what I should be like.” Not worth getting if you have anything better to do and you may as well get a mainstream game instead.

- Meh

Fun game, like the battles (even though it's mostly lucky combinations) lot of people complaining about PTW style play but if you're patient and have other things to do with your life then the iron and food resources fill up fast and you can always play the easier levels again to get more loot. Overall a fun game with great graphics and game play

- Error

This game is waste of time and I am not playing it anymore because it is working good till you reach level 20 but then you can’t increase your troop’s ability, it ask you for spending money and also all updates will take more then 2 days which is completely weird. Do not waste your time guys. Also if you got some crystals and try to buy a new hero then you never get that particular hero but you get something different which is error of this game. I hope my review will save your life and time. Cheers from Australia...

- Best game ever

Although you have to wait to get hero summons there’s lots of fun stuff to do like collect iron and food also train hero’s there’s lots of things to do while your waiting for your hero summons. Although you won’t always get the hero you want it always gives you useful hero’s and troops

- Enjoying this even after a year

The developers keep coming up with new ideas and so it makes it interesting. Compared with some other games I’ve played it doesn’t destroy you if you can’t get stronger. You don’t have to pay if you don’t want to, although there are occasional good offers.

- Enjoy the game.

Been playing for about 5yrs , The game is not hard, it’s a lot of fun. Haven’t spent a lot of money on it, at most about $200 over 5 years. If you take the game as it’s intended, a pass time, it can be really a lot of fun.

- You will have to spend to progress

This is a great game, the lower levels are fast and exciting, however to progress in the long run you will have to spend money, you can play for free but it will be difficult to progress. Be aware before you get hooked, I’ve played for eighteen months but I do regularly spend and have made top tier.

- Could have been great but....

Developers are killing their cash cow. Loot is insanely hard to come by. Getting your heroes to the final tier takes months. The raiding system has been changed so you lose to players way below you. Costs lots of money to be competitive and you have to spend lots more to stay there. Game won’t be here by the end of 2018. Save your money and play something else.

- Fast beginning

It’s a fun game that combines strategy with puzzles. I’m you start moving up quickly but it soon becomes a grind fest to get anywhere. Just like in life, if you want to advance and win quickly you need to have money to burn. In this it’s for gems to summon more powerful units and to get bonuses like extra builders to build your base.

- Good game

The game is very good but if patience isn’t your go, then this game might not be for you. You do progress fairly quickly at the start but upon reaching a certain level things slow down and become more of a grind. Joining a active team will help during these stages and help you progress further. I enjoy this challenging game.

- Pay or dont pay, your choice

The game is very, very addictive! It kind of becomes part of your life. Its fun, challenging and frustrating - thats how a game should be. There are times when you question the methods in the programming and debate about putting money into the game. You can play without paying any money. It will just take longer. You can play and pay to the tune of a couple of cups of coffee per month. Which is what i do. You can spend $000s on this game. Just like gambling. But that is always your choice. The game can still be played with no or pretty minimal financial inputs. And beating the Gravemaker in a raid is awesome.

- Great Game - At the beginning

A great game at the beginning, but unless you spend money, you will not progress. It’s almost like there is a logarithm in play - unless you pay, you will not advance, as you rarely get good hero’s above 3 Stars, and certain items like trapping tools, shield and hidden blades are very rarely found, therefore you can not ascend your hero. Best part is being in an alliance and you get to chat with people from around the world. Pity, as it is a good game.

- Loving it early on

I’m excited to play each day. I’ve read the other reviews and I’m not phased about the progress slowing down. Personally I think it’s too fast at the beginning. I’ve joined an alliance, been part of the team to defeat a Titan and gotten some cools stuff.

- Deleted the game

2 stars for the concept. Actually 5 for concept. But I’m stuck after one day of playing unless I spend money. Already getting raided and can’t get food. It’s too hard trying to get food and resources and waiting for energy and too frustrating don’t bother downloading. For anyone that wants alliances etc play war dragons its put together way better and cheaper and I never thought I’d say that. Very very disappointing game. -5 stars for the rest. DONT DOWNLOAD!

- Update problem

I’ve been enjoying the game for some time now but new update means I can’t get in game. Keeps saying “update” but fully updated? Pls fix this. Second time your update has kept me from logging in. Getting frustrated. It’s showing I need to update but fully updated, won’t let me get in game.

- Tough if you don’t spend

Like many free games, this looks great as you get started but you quickly realise you need to be part of a good team (thankfully I am!) and willing to occasionally buy some stuff! It helps if you know what all the various characters actually do! I’m still working on ‘buffs’ and ‘dispells’!

- No support

Been playing this game for quite a while now, with no issues, except for the last few months. The app either keeps freezing or just shuts down. I have tried to get tech support but the best advise I got was to go to a forums page and see if anyone else was having the same issue. Pathetic help from the manufacturer of the game.

- Whoooo

Well done *****

- Pub

C’est trop charger de publicité et promo qui pollue l’écran. Ça manque de vision graphique. La solution c’est le jeu: War of Valhalla...identique avec moins de pub!

- Great Idea Failed Excecution

The developers don’t understand balance and how to increase power creep. Having played the game religiously for three years and spending over 1000USD on the game I don’t expect to be lose to a newbie just because they have the new heroes who are still substantially lower level but so overpowered compared to older heroes that already took me money and time to get and level. So if you’re new, play for a bit until new heroes come out. Then you’re obsolete even if you spend money because it’s so expensive and hard to get the rare heroes. The worst part of the game by far is their PvP. Shame, I love the game play for the most part but it’s really not worth your time to play if you’re a serious gamer that expects fairness and the use of skill and strategy over luck and how deep your pockets are.

- Mo money mo money mo money

To play this game u will never succeed unless you are a millionaire PERIOD.

- Pay to play game.

Do no play this game worse game ever!!! there is no support and there’s no fun unless you’re a money payer, I actually paid money one time but apparently not enough.. This game in no way is good for you if you are not willing to pay, if you’re looking for a fun game that does not make you pay, do not play this game.

- Just read this..

Don’t spend on this game. Take it from me, and many others that have went (free to play) I’ve spent, but can tell you now that it’s not worth it. You don’t have to spend, but the game throws ads for summons at you like crazy. The devs come out with heroes, then the community complains that a certain hero is over powered, and so they end up nerfing a hero so bad, that they become worthless, and this is AFTER you’ve spend a few hundred bucks to try to get them. This game is fun, don’t take me wrong. The community as a whole is great. But when the whiners whine, the devs cater to them. The developers are very greedy.. There’s a reason they made millions. Good game overall, but as I stated.. keep your money in the bank. I’ve been playing this game for 3+ years now. I have 160 heroes maxed.. 43 5* and the rest are 3* and 4* (for tournaments and events) So if you’re looking to just have fun, play this game, but you can have fun without spending. If you want to spend a bit, may I suggest going with the VIP. That’s the only thing worth it.. A 1% chance to land a 5* legendary hero or even getting a HoTM (Hero of the Month) is tough. I noticed that if you’re new, your odds are better.. There’s no guarantee that spending will get you anything.. I think spending just speeds up your frustration, but what does a player of 3+ years know..? Don’t give SG any money.. they don’t do anything for you.. They’re happy to take it and cater to the whiners, but not to the people that actually spend and appreciate the players that brought them to where they are today..

- Money Pit

This game takes your money and gives nothing in return. The chances of getting the best or rare heroes is way too low. You can spend a reasonable amount of money like I have and get absolutely nothing for it. You’re only chance to be able to advance in this game is to spend hundreds of dollars every month

- Meh

I hate and wasn’t interested in this game because it was a matching three game and I don’t like that and it was lagging a lot also was constantly asking on using money. -.-

- Cynical money grab devoid of artistic merit

For starters, there is nothing RPG-like about this game at all. You don’t make a character, you don’t interact with the story (such as it is), and can’t affect the outcome in any way. “Puzzles” is also a misnomer. There’s nothing to solve or figure out. Rather, the outcome of each interaction depends on only two things: the strength of your team and random chance. In reality, this isn’t a game at all. It’s a dressed up slot machine. The designers expect you to spend obscene amounts of money chasing after exceedingly rare prizes in order to “compete” with other players. To keep you spending, they continually publish over-powered content to obsolete the stuff you already bought. And make no mistake, chasing after the good stuff in this game costs hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month. You can’t tell exactly how much it will cost you because Small Giant isn’t upfront about the true costs of playing. Instead you pay for random pulls, with a very low chance of success. If you choose not to spend, then you can look forward to a long, grinding experience. It takes literally years to get anywhere, and you will never compete with the big spenders because Small Giant continually moves the goal posts by publishing new, more powerful content. In short, Empires and Puzzles is a cynically designed trap built to exploit gambling addicts. Don’t fall for it. Stay away.

- Not a fair game

It recently came out that boards are not random and there may be preferential treatment of beta testers. In my opinion this takes advantage of both the pay to play and non money spending players. This game is not far to all participants.

- Was a good game.

Been forced to update and my iPad is old and I can't. So now I can't play without getting a new device.

- Shameful

Game is a money grab. U get nothing from spending any money. Game is horrible. U have no chance of anything without spending money, and even then your chances are still low. Waste of time

- Major money grab

This game will rip you off on an extremely low chance of getting anything useful in return. Deleted my account after wasting a year of my life...

- Pretty fun

Pretty addictive and fun game

- Pay to win

This game sucks. Paid a crapload of money to have lvld up 5* heroes. Still can’t get decent boards EVER! I would quit playing LONG ago if it weren’t for how much money I’ve wasted on this stupid game.

- Gambling addiction BEWARE

Yes you can grind away at the game, but to really move forward most items are behind a paywall. 1% or less for good heroes. The gacha/loot box is everywhere. Technically all objects can be gotten by free to play but at such low drop rates, that the need to “keep up” sends you down into the gambling rabbit hole. Please be aware of your spending habits for these pixels you don’t own.

If you don’t value your time or money then download this game. This is the most unbalanced game I’ve ever played. The whole game based on raising your team power number so your team becomes stronger and wins more battles right ? Wrong ! Your team power means nothing. It all depends on the stones you get. If you get good stones, you can beat an opponent with way bigger team power number then yours, or the opposite, with bad stone you can loose to someone with way less team power number. So all the time and money spent only for the sake of spending time and money. Does not reflect much on your game progression. If you spending money, trying to get 5star heroes, just so you know the chances of that approx. 1/10000. In the last several month I spent over $100 only getting 3star heroes. Not to mention that the algorithm of the game will let you progress only as much before crapping up your game. This game makes you spend money believing you are in control, where truly you just pay to observe RNG which your progress has no impact on. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Skip this one, no doubt !

- Used to be good but now it’s just gross

Have played for three years and what once was a game that you could spend a moderate amount of money on and still have a great experience has turned into a game where the developer has it sights only on maximizing the amount of money they can extract from their players. New heroes are released at unreal speeds with massive power upgrades ensuring that if you don’t spend to pull these heroes your roster will never be able to do anything. Ascension materials that you used to be able to earn in game have been cut back to where you never expect to get any while the offers to buy these items at ridiculous prices has gone through the roof. Worst is that if there is a good hero that a lot of people spend money on and too many people get it they will nerf it into irrelevance despite the fact people paid good money for that hero. They take advantage of people who are addicted to this game and exploit peoples weakness. Look up gatcha games before you even think about this game and realize this company tries to exploit their player base.

- Unbalanced

Wars and raid are incredibly poorly balanced. Dodges and resurrection are way to common for defence. Pricing is ridiculous. This is a pay to win game. Period.

- Disappointing

This game used to be so much fun. Everyone had a chance and the game felt fair. Not anymore the game over powers some hero’s and even if you spend money to try to get pulls the chances are very slim. I think it’s time to move away from this game.

- Terrible Support

I was surprised how bad their support team is. I bought a team slot thinking it was adding a team member, the wording was poor. I immediately contacted the support team to reverse. 3 days later, after multiple back and forths, they inform me that they won’t do it. I had bought a VIP membership too and they didn’t care. Don’t spend in this game, they don’t care about you.

- Marketing genius is a fail for me

I suppose it is marketing genius that this game has upped the characters levels, pretty much meaning spend more money. I have enjoyed playing this game for a few years and have spent way too much money on building characters and my empire. That being said, since they have changed things, I will probably still play the game but will never spend another dollar building my characters. Ever. Funny thing, if they hadn't changed things, I would still be sucked into dropping a lot of money on this game (for challenge events or deals) but after this marketing move, they lost me as a paying player. I wonder how many others feel the same way I do?

- Waste Of Time

This Game Is A Waste Of Time, Empire And Puzzles More Like Empires And Money! It’s Nearly Impossible To Play The Game Without Spending Money 💵 The Game Treats 5* Like 3* And The Events And Multiple Pulls Are Trash! The Game Is A Waste Of Time And Unfair Don’t Download It!!

- Game of luck

Game makes you spend a lot of money to be good, it’s not a fair game and the game decided when you get good tiles and when you don’t. Nothing to do with puzzle. Just a money making scheme and game of probability. Don’t waste your time or money on the game

- Needs better internal marketing and balance

This game overloads on internal marketing all of the wrong type: spend cash for more. I think each time a new batch of heroes pops up everyone should get a token in their inbox that when used gives them a hero of that batch. People will be far more enticed to try to get heroes of that batch if they already have one, upfront, for free. Also improved balance is a must. Including lowering gem cost, etc.

- Organized crime

These game companies need to be wrangled in by legislation.they are out of control.this developer is arrogant. Robbing people of there money. If you are a gambler and want to give your money away get the game. Your money is better spent i Vegas better odds. They keep introducing more characters that you wont get unless you spend thousands. I have played for at least a year. Apple doesn’t give a crap as long as they are getting there cut.

- Empires and puzzles

Bad money pit. Only way to win is spend the odds of pulling good game play is less than 1%. Better odds would keep people interested

- Rigged

If you play this game you can put in a years worth of playing and not be hardly anywhere in the game. It’s Almost pointless to play. I’ve talked to other people who play the game and who have spent money on the game and they have not gotten rewarded even after spending their money. Go for a walk instead of playing

- 1% is a lie

I did 106 rolls to meet the 1% criteria and got nothing of the such. 300 dollars later and I sent a customer complaint asking them to honour their 1% claim and I was met with “Sorry to hear you don’t like our system and best of luck next time” Nothing at all for complaints, terrible customer service and a bunch of liars that do not honour their own claim of 1%. Obviously control their feedback as well no way a game that cares this little over their users could have such a high rating.

- Rip off

This game is a money grab. Purchases charged that were never made and gems and loot tickets stolen when refund for purchase not made was requested.

- Cheap and unbalanced!

The Raids were always cheap and unbalanced and the last update made us worst!!!! They keep taking my review down because they don’t want people to see negative reviews! Completely unfair!!!! Every update they make it even more cheap!!! Pure unfair garbage!!!!

- Empires and Puzzles is a ripoff!

I enjoyed this game at the beginning, I have been playing about a year and am embarrassed about how much I have spent and how little I’ve gotten for my money. If you like match games, go ahead and download this game, but my advice is don’t spend any extra money and if you do don’t expect much. Tavern of Legends is a joke, I did numerous summons only to get a boatload of of the weakest characters available and one that was mediocre that I already had several copies of. I’m actually planning on reducing my time with this game as it has been a huge disappointment. I’m in an alliance so I’ll help with titans but other than that I’ve pretty much had it. My advice save your time and save your money. Cheers.

- App Trap

This game is fun for the first 3 months. After that it is almost impossible to win unless you spend money. And they do a good job at trapping you into doing so. The will let you get to the point where you think your about to reach a higher level where the rewards are better and as soon as you are bout to reach you get sent back 2 steps. This gets repeated over and over and unless you spend money on higher level characters you will not succeed and get frustrated to the point where you either spend money on in game packs or you uninstall the game because it is frustrating. Even their matchmaking is set up that way, you get matched up with lower level players witch it says your odds of winning are great and you end up getting destroyed and end up wondering how you lost that battle. Fun game, but not if you want to keep playing par 4 or 5 months.

- Boycott this game by all means.

An incompetent programmer caused a glitch in the program and because some users found outabout it, they were harshly penalized. This game is all about money making.

- Too bad for the lost account...

I loved this game. Enough to buy upgrades and a VIP status. And if only for the gameplay I would have given 5 stars. However, shortly after I had « secured » my account with game center, as recommended by the in game tutorial, When I opened a session I was back at level 1 with all progression and VIP status vanished... Tried support, but only got what looked like automated replies , and even though I sent my transaction IDs for my purchases, didn’t get back my account. So beware : by going through their help pages, it seems like lost accounts is not a rare issue, and unfortunately tech support is not much of a help. Spending a lot of money on that game may be risky ! Update : I did start Again the game and spent waaayyy too much money in the past two years... now I’ve just been banned for exploiting a bug in the game during 12h, like thousands of other players. E And P claim this is against their terms, but no mention of it in their conditions page. Do not play this game unless you’re willing to spend thousands of $ to stay competitive!

- Don’t expect to be respect

Basic good game, but no great evolution. They just want your money!

- Tedious and repetitive ... and you can’t win without spending money

Just another gem matching game. The “battles” are repetitive and tiring. No special bonus gems as you advance in levels. The same monsters over and over again. A mind numbing game with lots of repetition. Did I mention how repetitive it is? Another problem is that you just cannot win without spending money. All currency is based on gems. It takes an insane amount of time to accumulate any amount that you can buy meaningful stuff.

- Do not spent money, you will regret it

I used to be a fan of this game, but after 2 years of play the game developers have lost my loyalty when they decided to reduced the power of things I spent money to get. They reduced the power not once, not twice, but three times now. Do not spend money on this game. You will pay for things that get changed on you.

- Deceitful

Been playing almost 4 years and they are worse at listening to their players. They are just looking for money at all costs and treat loyal players terribly. If you want to lose a lot of money, play this game otherwise find a better game, there are a ton out there.

- Waste of money

You purchase something and 6 months later they come back and tell you , oh we made a mistake and are changing the object that you purchased! We will give you something for your pain and suffering.. then proceed to reward everyone in the game although they never purchased said item. I felt like I bought a Jeep, they delivered me a Suzuki.. and then delivered everyone else one too, even though they never bought a Jeep! So basically the ones who pay are supplementing those who don’t.

- Too bad...

You really get to like this game, but must have alot of patience or invest alot of money...!! If you don’t pay the big bucks to upgrade it will take forever to have something somewhat decent... Too bad!

- Misleading

Pay to win expensive items and misleading offers

- Terrible

You have to pay money if you want to be good at this game, I deleted it because I wanted a new account and it said if you delete the game you will loose your data, but when I deleted it and got it again it just had my horrible data from last time, DO NOT DOWNLOAD

- Not satisfied

The game is basically pay to win; those who pay for stuff get better stuff than others who work hard for it. Also, I suggest that you guys increase the power if some heroes such as Jabbar, since his special ability is around the same as Zudak and jabbar is a 4 star and Zudak is a 2 star. I am suggesting to increase Jabbar’s special ability damage form 235 to 250, 260, or 270 would be amazing. Doing so would make him more like a 4 star hero and not a copy of a 2 star hero but with epic status. And I don’t think it would be unbalanced doing so. Please take this idea into consideration.

- Fun game but it’s a money grabber!!! BEWARE

Honestly I like this game but Small Gaint is getting greedy...players are spending money for almost nothing in return!!! Stop spending money on this game app until they show us some change in their gaming system!!!

- I’m deleting your game

I want the devs, executive teams at Small Giant, and their parent company Zynga games to know that I’m deleting your game. This is the absolute worst case of unbalanced gameplay I have ever seen. Your excessive greed may be adored by your shareholders but the players you constantly screw are the ones who pay your exaggerated salaries. There is nothing rewarding about this game. Players can spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars and see little to no return. You. Are. Greedy. That’s the simplest way I can put it. Eventually more and more players will catch on and your user base will be reduced to a small handful of players that are willing to shell out the thousands of dollars it will take to get anywhere in this game. Unfortunately for you, the handful of players left won’t be enough to justify this game’s existence. I’m an advocate for no IAP games because of games like this. Your constant money grab has gone beyond encouraging players to spend a few dollars here and there to essentially forcing them to spend $30, $40, $50 dollars a month just to keep pace. Small Giant and Zynga might think it’s great to make the returns they are making, but their ethics and how they treat players is deplorable and untenable. No more IAP. I hope you take this review to heart. You know I’m right.

- 创意不错,不过凑了300水晶就给一个三星,果断删

this game is so pay to play and it’s a shame that the creators of this game do such junk work to make this pay to play.

- Terrible

Read the forums to see just how bad this game is. Waste of time! Super rigged! You get better odds in Vegas.
