TERRIBLE controls. Is this supposed to be fun and immersive? Your controls on this game are terrible. The drone is so slow moving, slow turning, slow response. You can’t make a metroidvania and then give it terrible controls. Original Metroid on NES has much better controls than this. How can you go back in time ????

Old school adventuring. This game doesn't hold your hand. The controls are intentionally something that needs to be mastered (google "inertia"). Once you accept these premises, you're in for a real treat. When you're not playing, you're thinking about what you can try differently to get past "that" area...and then the next one...many eureka moments! Excellent game. Will update when I finish.

Metroidvania. I love this game and it is a great metrovania! The art style and the ambiance is very neat. I recommend this game if you like Metroidvania's :D

Extremely poor controls.. The graphics are cute but this game is completely unplayable. I can't get past the first part with the timed fire because of the impossible controls.

Awesome. Long game, super fun, time consuming. It is a bit confusing but if you are patient, then you should have minimal trouble figuring things out

Excellent game - extremely underrated GEM. 5 stars There's just a few bugs that cause the game to crash sometimes on my iPad Pro 10.5 - hopefully they can be fixed with future update. Ps. People complaining about the controls I don't understand it, as they work fluidly and responsive; you just have to get used to them.. and the character CAN/DOES go faster and speed up if you find the upgrade for him, which you can easily get after playing for like an hour or less. People need to give the game a chance, it is really a greatly polished, fun game.

90% of the world is right handed. Love the game, hate that I can’t drive the avatar with my right hand. Fix this and I would give this app 5 stars!!

Gorgeous game👍🏼. The graphics is gorgeous Plays perfectly fine on ipad pro 12.9 10.3.2 MFI support is great play with nimbus for an hour an fell in love with this gem 👍🏼👍🏼 And with the latest update we can get achievement lol

Fantastic game with slight problems.... I've only played about 20 minutes or so, but I'm already in love with this. The only problem I'm having with it so far is that the controls are incredible floaty.

Bought game and will not download. I've tried with both wifi and LTE. Attempted more than 15 downloads over two days. Will change rating when I can actually play Forma 8.

Super Rad Game!!!. •••Could you make the control of the avatar be a little faster & possibly tighten accuracy of the movement~? Love the hidden rooms, etc. It would be cool if you put description for what it is that the things do you search for & the ability to upgrade weapons or powers perhaps~ Keep up the FANTASTIC work~

Looks good but I want to be able to play it. The game looks amazing but whenever the cutscene ends the game crashes

Horrible controls. I quickly got frustrated with the on-screen controls, so I pulled out my Xbox controller in hopes that it would help. A little, but not enough to make it playable.

Fantastic exploration game. I made it to “the end?” on an ipad with no cheats in two days, so it’s not too difficult. The puzzles and bosses are creative and varied. The scenery is beautiful. Most of the puzzles I think are optional. At least you can go somewhere else if you get stuck on one puzzle. I wish the controls were a little more responsive.. I hated the energy swarm (but still defeated it).

Doesn't work (but it used to). I got this app for my iPod Touch 5th Generation, and when I started the game it worked just fine. I had to go do a quick chore, so I closed my iPod and left. When I turned my iPod back on, the app had closed with it, no big deal. However, now whenever I go back on the app, nothing will work. Hopefully you can (and will) fix this, as I spent $6 on this game.

Beautiful exploration game. This is a thoughtful , slow-paced, and beautifully realized game of exploration. There's combat as well and so far it has been great -- not terribly hard but puzzley, requiring you to experiment and think. My only complaint is it seems to drain my phone battery pretty quickly. Still I highly recommend this game if you like patient exploration, sci fi themes, cool art, and thoughtful combat.

nope. While being a good game in it's core, it's still totally unplayable due to horrible controls. Despite stating such intentions a while ago, the developers have yet failed to fix this. A complete waste of money for me and a shame really

A masterpiece. The art and music are breathtaking, and they perfectly create a sad yet peaceful atmosphere. The puzzles provide great variety with just a few simple mechanics. Some parts are frustrating, but that creates a real sense of accomplishment.

Very Nice But Not Perfect. The controls can be a little more smooth for a game that practice trial and error until you find the right way.

Great game, has its issues.. forma.8 is a really great game! The art style is amazing, and the gameplay is fun. I’m only 37.5% through the game according to the game, and it’s managed to leave me stumped on how to solve a puzzle several times. The touchscreen controls can also be awful at times. It’s a really fun game, but the fact that it’s on a touchscreen can really interfere with the gameplay. The first part of the game that really confused me was the shielded spider that you need to kill to progress. It’s in the first cave system, and it took me about twenty minutes to discover I could launch the little bomb upgrade at it. The bomb aiming is broken. It’s impossible to aim accurately which makes the corrupted forma boss insanely frustrating! The game gives you a world map that slowly gets bigger and bigger, and progression gets tedious. Having to go back and forth around the massive game world can get boring and time consuming after the fifth time passing through an area.Even after complaining about the problems so much, there’s just something about this game that keeps me playing. Most of the puzzles are solvable, and the game has this underlying mystery that I just NEED to solve! Sure every fifth puzzle is unsolvable, but this game is fun! It’s enjoyable.

Eerie and mysterious. You play as a little black robot exploring a dark world earning power ups and finding devices to open new paths and you start seeing creaminess like SMS sort of giant spider and things that attack you all while listing to soft toned eerie music. I enjoying it. It's not a high action game and you move rather slowly but it a nice time sink puzzler plamformer.

Awesome game. Do yourself a favor and get this.

Forma.8. The game starts off as fun but the levels are confusing and there's no instructions on what to do.

controls ruin the experience. the low speed and high inertia of the character in this game do okay for building tension, but also tend to make the game unsatisfying to play. precision moves are unnecessarily difficult, and moving any considerable distance on the map is extremely tedious.

Too slow.... Pro: Graphics and atmosphere are well done. (Although it's clearly the same game engine behind other titles out there). Cons: The heart of this game is very... slowly.. floating... down... dark... tunnels. Eerie super-mellow music only added to the boredom. A lack story, objectives, or even instructions made me quickly wonder why I was investing so much time just slowly floating around.

Drunk Avatar. If you enjoy being frustrated out of your mind with an avatar that is not controllable and mindlessly meanders on the screen when you are trying to complete a timed sequence that requires precision - than this game is for you! Unfortunately it’s more likely you will give up early in the game and wonder why game designers are clueless to what makes a game an enjoyable past time. Good luck -

Beautiful experience. This is a mellow metroidvania with beautiful visuals and a unique vibe. The controls and combat are really cool. A lot of people are complaining about the “driftiness” of the movement, but I really like it - it feels like you’d expect it would to pilot a little hovering drone. The weapons are very interesting - more defensive than offensive, have to sometimes be used creatively. Good stuff here.

This Game May Not Be For You, But If It Is Get It Now. This game's beautiful art style, it's smooth and immersive controls, and it's intricately constructed world will make it worth the entire $3 you spent on it. Although the game's controls may frustrate you, or it's lack of instructions puzzle you, it's a truly breathtaking game and I highly recommend it.

Excellent.. I don't understand the negative reviews here. This game is beautiful to see and hear. The controls are amazing (it actually feels good to play) and I'm compelled to continue on. If you're on the fence, get it; it's beautiful and zen-like but can get hectic at times. Thanks, devs, for this unique experience.

Meh. Pretty graphics, interesting characters, but utterly boring gameplay. Don't waste your money on this game I deleted.

Not fun. Some of these reviews must have been planted. I'm not enjoying this game on iPhone 5 at all. I'm not left-handed, so the controls are hard for me. There is also only a small section of screen that moves the dude; go out of this area and the dude stops. I'm 3.8% in and can't even get thru the second section! I'm going to get my $4 back.

What?!. I just got this game, tried playing it, and it isn't working. For some reason when I try to drag the little guy around it works up until a specific section of the level. I'm not sure why, but so far this game is a complete waist of money. Sorry. Beautiful images though.

Excellent.. Perfect hybridization of Badland and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (if anyone but me remembers that one.) Hasn't crashed once, and shame on whiners quibbling over the pricepoint. Go whimper at Gamestop.

This game is amazing!. Don't listen to these negative reviews. If you have any issues with your device, the devs are hard at work on it. They have been very responsive on the TouchArcade forum thread for this game. This game is beautiful, and if your character moves slow (imo it is fine) then it is just for you to take in he beautiful vector graphics. Download this game, bought on day 1 and no regrets. Would buy this twice.

First boss fight is bugged and can't be beat. Please fix it so I can give a proper review once I finish the game. The boss will attack once or twice and then go into a perpetual state of opening and closing its mouth, revealing an energy ball. No matter how much damage I do to the boss or its energy ball, it won't die. Like I've spent a lot of time doing tons and tons of damage to its head and orb, and it just will not die. My other complaint is that the controls are utterly terrible. I feel like I'm skating on ice....in socks. A little more control would be nice off the bat, although I'm hoping this is something that improves as one progresses through the game.

Another example of a game that needs to have a free test phase. Very pretty game, but it's extremely difficult to control the movement of the character with the necessary precision and speed on a touchscreen, especially limited to left hand and having the game set up so its your left thumb doing to movement control. Some of the puzzles require fast and accurate flying within a time limit which is just about impossible on an iPad. This is one of many games that should have a free test game with samples of the different types of controls and such, or it should offer a refund.

Cool but make it right- hand compatible. It's fun but I'm not coordinated with my left hand and it's rather hard to steer and there's no option to switch the directional pad to the right hand... it's frustrating

Metroid-Vania apparently means something new. I guess in a sense this has a Metroid-Vania root, but after a while I just got a bit bored. Its not a bad game, and its not complicated, but I feel its a bit boring. Its absolutely gorgeous to look at, and obviously a lot of time and effort was put into it. My over all take was this: Youre a floating robot, floating around inside this planet, blowing stuff up. You dodge lava and a few obstacles, float here and there and do the thing... Slowly. Im not sure the point, or the story and maybe for some thats cool, but for me I need a bit less open endedness. Even games like Ico and Shadow of the Colusus, or even Brightridge have a bit more of a point in directive -- even if that directive is "look around and enjoy". Its pretty, its slow, its kind of interesting... but not interesting enough for me to keep on my mobile. Thanks for the offering!

Beautiful and F’ing Annoying. So much thought and beauty has gone into this game but pick a side. Please. Either go with an easy, chilled and aesthetic game or go with a stressful and intense racing against time/fighting monsters game. I wanted the former and swear that the elements that were the latter took my blood pressure to dangerous levels. Having large portions of a game where you’re wandering vast areas, without much happening, interspersed with moments where you want to throw your phone at the wall and kill your pets in frustration isn’t great. I love and hate this game in equal measure. At least I’m not indifferent to it.

Game crashes, don't buy. Waste off money.. I want my money back.

Atmospheric Adventure. Suspenseful and calmly eerie music, absolutely top notch and beautiful graphics and landscapes. Only minor gripe is controls could be a bit more responsive. My fingers were getting a little tired. I understand that the speed of the bot is probably low because one should take on the scenery this way, but really felt a little impatient at times.

💯. This game is really beautiful! It took me forever to find all the artefacts, and the ending was a bit abrupt, but weighing that against the hours of entertaining gameplay, I think it’s fair. The controls are nice and the world is very detailed. I’d definitely recommend it.

Don't like the new icon. The icon with the forma , I call it "blue-red line" was better than the flying forma.

Could be good.... Could be good but impossible to tell as controller response is absolutely terrible making progress painful at best if not nearly impossible otherwise. Sorry, exercise in frustration and time vacuum on this device at least. (iPad Air2, iOS 10.3)

Not worth it. Costs more then any other game. I got bored after 2 hours of playing . Need more content. edit: just wish it costs less then I can justify telling my friends to buy it.
