“Not a real receipt” issue. Been using this app for almost a year now. I can tell you that the cents really start to add up over time. Haven’t had any issues until a few months ago when every now and then I wouldn’t receive cash back because of the receipts I’ve submitted not being processed because they deemed it wasn’t a real recipient although all the receipts I’ve submitted were printed at the gas pump and would show the name and address of the gas station I claim, the time, proof of purchase with a debit card, amounts purchased, price per gallon and so on. I keep all of my gas receipts until cash back credit is given in case I have to resubmit it. Not all gas pumps print receipts in the same format but I shouldn’t have to lose out for something beyond my control. Yeahs it’s only a few cents but why participate if you can’t enjoy the perks advertised? I’ve even resubmitted receipts on numerous occasions just to keep getting denied for the same, “It’s not a real receipt” issue and where I live and travel, I don’t see the point of driving 10/15 miles out of my way just to use the “Check In” feature that a select number of gas station have. This should be a feature used all over to prevent this ongoing receipt issue.

Falsely advertising a Product that isn’t being Honored - FRAUD ALERT. I have been a long time GetUpside customer but just recently I have been getting really short changed on Cashback after the transaction- Just recently I had a Cashback offer of .46 cents off per gallon for 29 gallons but only received .14 cents off a gallon— Then the next day since I was traveling I had a offer for .16 cents off a gallon but only received .9 cents off a gallon so you can see a trend I plan my trips out to get the best Cashback offer also I travel a lot so I’m getting Cashback daily. So after around 4 transactions I was short changed quite a lot I started taking screenshots right before the purchase so the times match my receipts since this deceptive practices recently I have forwarded all my receipts and screenshots to my local state attorney general office which will be conducting an investigation on gas fraud and falsely advertising a product that isn’t being offered I encourage everyone to do this as well so maybe they will get a hint when they try to save 6-7 dollars here and there maybe some fines will stop them — On top of that I have forwarded all my pictures and receipts to the Federal trade commission since they are falsely advertising something that isn’t being honored please please if this happens to you or anyone you know do exactly this every time and this will stop! A loyal customer with over 10+ referrals

Lov love. Absolutely love this app it has saved me money at gas and restaurants we had a huge or would’ve had a huge bill at my son’s birthday party at a restaurant but we split it into a couple of bills and we saved money… The gas station and savings are great in my house sometimes it’s only two or three cents sometimes it’s $.50 it’s really awesome and when Stop & Shop has a deal and I use my Stop & Shop card I get my gas points plus upsides cash back which is great that’s how I recommend doing itGet your gas from Stop & Shop and use the gas points I also only have one complaint and that is I haven’t been able to get on the app for a few days I don’t know I tried to update it but it doesn’t need an update so I don’t know if they’re just doing bug worker maintenance work but I don’t wanna uninstall the app because I don’t remember all my information so I’m hoping they can fix this soon problem since I got it and I got it when it first came out so this has been really good I’ve saved over $200 since I got it so hopefully they fix the bug and I can actually get into the app this week

If Only Prices We’re Correct. Thought I’d give this a shot after seeing an ad. First 3 stations I tried all had prices dramatically higher than those posted on the GetUpside App ($.25 to $.29), which combined with the rebates made them more expensive than the station closest to my house. I noticed the disclaimer that prices may not be correct “due to limitations in data reporting.” At the third station (RaceTrac), the GetUpside price was listed as $2.71, so I used the “update” feature to enter the current price ($3.00). The app price then changed to $2.90 (why?). So I updated it again to $3.00 - still advertised at $2.90. After filling up at my regular station (no rebate, but still cheaper), I noticed that the RaceTrac I just updated was then advertised at $2.75. Writing this review about 30 min. later it now says $2.71. Just checked Google maps, which accurately puts it at $3. Safe to say the prices in GetUpside are unreliable, to put it generously, which means it’s useless for me. I would have paid more had I used the rebate offers. May try again in case today is an aberration, but gas in DFW hasn’t been below $2.80 in over a month, so I kinda doubt it. Cool idea if they can get beyond their “limitations in data reporting”… perhaps by using the Internet?

Be careful they switch offers after you claimed one. Update: still reaching out to customer service and will update what I hear back. My hunch is now that the one offer is gone off the site completely and it was taken off between when I claimed and submitted receipts so my offer defaulted to a nearby place. Just a guess. I had been doing well and getting cash back for gas and restaurant purchases. However, I went to get a restaurant purchase cash back and claimed the offer at spot A. I submit receipts for the same spot, A. The next day they say I went to the wrong spot and now my history has a restaurant listed that I have never heard of or claimed. They switched the restaurant in my history. Trust me I searched for the spot I wanted and selected it and submitted receipts all for spot A with no question. When I requested help, they reference a gas station and give me 3 cents back but this was a restaurant deal for 7 dollars back. They did not read my request. Previously I received 0.67 back for a restaurant that was supposed to be 21% with a max of 7 dollars. You really need to watch them to be sure it is correct. I think lots of people don’t pay attention and get ripped off. It also seems like a bait and switch that may need to be investigated. Good luck.

Good luck getting paid more than 50% of the time.. Seven days I will get my cash back within 24 hours, but only if it is like $2. I’ve been using this app for close to a year now and one time they owed me $14 and said they could not find the card that I used even though it was in my wallet. Now they owe me like $9 and it has been 10 days with no processing. Customer Service said it will take 7 to 10 days even though the app says 2 to 4 days and I think it happens to be a strong coincidence that they have no problem giving you pocket change, but anything over two dollars will take a tremendous amount of time or they won’t pay you at all. My last response from Customer Service was that we are still tracking the transactions. I have no idea what that means because I used the cards in my wallet that are stored on the app. The truth about this company is that they don’t want to give you any real money and I think it is a joke that they said I’ve saved $36 this year that’s a half a tank of gas. And what economy 1989? Cost over $100 to fill up a pick up truck. Beware because the second time I tried to contact customer support, and I got no response as they do not care about their consumers. All they care about is their advertising which they have obviously dumped a bunch of money into where the woman saying she saves $200. I doubt it because they don’t even give out over two dollars.

It really works!!!. I’ve been using this app for a little over a month now and I wish I would have found it sooner! You literally open the app, search for participating gas stations around you, claim an offer, pump gas, and then upload your receipt. Usually within a few hours after you’ll begin to earn cash back! The most I’ve personally seen offered is 19¢ per gallon cash back which is really nice! There are two negatives I have about the app though which is there have been several instances where the system misread my receipt and I received the wrong amount of cash back. Every time this happened however, I contacted the customer service team and I was issued the correct amount back hassle free! (I always attach my receipt when reaching out just to verify) Also that the only gas stations i seem to see having offers are BP and Circle K. It would definitely be nice to see more of a variety! Although in my area (OH) I’m not able to redeem offers on restaurants, groceries, etc I do recommend this app for anyone who enjoys getting a little cash back here and there! Patience is key!

Cheap and slow. They charge you a whole dollar to cash out to PayPal unless you are cashing out $15 or more or getting a gift card. Then when you do cash out they give to a notification that states it will take 24-48 hours to transfer your money to PayPal. First of all I know it doesn’t cost them a dollar to cash out small amounts. They say they’re passing SOME of that cost on to us, so they would have us believe that it costs them more than a dollar to transfer funds. Second, if they’re going to charge a whole dollar to transfer to PayPal then they could at least do it quicker than 24-48 hours after you cash out. PayPal only takes 2% and they transfer immediately (30 minutes tops). Lastly, this app is full of bugs. The first time I claimed an offer the app told me I had 4 hours to upload a receipt from the gas station I selected. Once I got to the gas station and pumped my gas the app suddenly crashed and logged me out. I’ve had this app for months before I actually used it and it had never logged me out before. When I tried to log back in it told me my info was incorrect. So now I had to play the log in game. Once I finally got logged back on I uploaded my receipt and the app told me I should see what my cash back would be in 24-48 hours. Then it told me 3 different discount amounts that I would be getting. This app needs A LOT of work.

Zero Cash Back coming through!!. I switched from Gas Buddy to Upside because it potentially had better deals. I made the switch and started earning cash back in my account which is great…..until I tried to cash out. I haven’t received a dollar of my cash back. I continued to use the app with NONE of the cash back showing up in my account. I started a new profile with another email and NONE of my cash back is showing up and neither is my initial cash out. Not to mention you took grocery stores off the app too. I WANT MY CASH BACK! I am an Uber driver and have to fill up multiple times a week. I could’ve used Gas Buddy that just gives me the discount on the spot instead of waiting for the cash back to process and then having to cash out and wait for money that never comes. This app started great but turned out to be terrible considering I am getting none of the discount that I could’ve already gotten somewhere else with so many opportunities wasted on these tank fillups. You should also have customer support to call. Not just a bot chat app. 💬 Please fix what has potential to be a good app.

False advertising. So this is the second time this has happened to me. I’m about to get enough for a pay out, and it signs me out, the first time I forgot my password so I couldn’t sign back in because it kept saying an error had occurred when trying to reset my password, the email I had used was an old one that I didn’t really use that much anyway so I just made a new account. This time I run into issues where it promotes let’s say .19¢ a gallon, but I got to fill up, and only get like .09¢, whatever I still need to fill up my tank so I continue using it, then today I’m about to make enough for a payout, and then I somehow get signed out of my account again, I remember my password this time, try signing in, it says my password is wrong, I try resetting it again, and wouldn’t you know, I can’t. I get the same error after trying to reset it for a while, leaving it alone, then trying again a few hours later. Definitely not what they advertise, not sure how they’re still on the App Store after basically scamming people.

Don’t waste your time. So, this app sounded really good. Who doesn’t want to pay less for gas? My first purchase didn’t work properly. The Sam’s club didn’t print their address on the receipt, so there was an issue getting credit for the purchase. Eventually I was able to prove that I did indeed get gas at the correct location, and customer service told me that the correction would be made. It wasn’t. To avoid that problem on my next fill up I went to a station that had the blue check so the receipt shouldn’t be a problem. Nope. All it ever said was processing, and eventually it changed to expired because they weren’t able to give me credit for that purchase. So I lost out on saving money yet again. Out of 5 purchases I should have received money back on, only 2 actually happened. Even then the amount on the second purchase wasn’t correct. The offer I claimed was for .14 or .16 cents a gallon discount, but when it finally went through they only gave me 5 cents a gallon discount. So yeah, I’m done. I would rate it at less than 1 star if that was possible. I would say just look for the cheapest gas you can find and avoid the hassle and disappointment of using this app. While this app may not be a scam, it is deceptive making you think you’ll get more money back on your purchases than they actually give you.

😡😡 Updated*** 😡😡. My mom recommended this app to me, so I thought I’d download it and check it out. Unfortunately it does not work at all in the state I live in, not a big deal. I wanted to delete the account, because I had only downloaded it, never once used it. I have had to jump through a million hoops to gets this account deleted. There is a part that says delete account, it doesn’t delete the account it makes you send them an email. Ok no big deal until it turned into 4, emails I finally get reply. The reply now has me emailing them again, because they need it confirmed. One would think the 4 previous emails would have pretty much confirmed I indeed want this account deleted. I have never had to do all of this just to delete an account it’s ridiculous. ***You can’t make up the nonsense that I have had to go through to delete this account. It was finally deleted, I hope, I refuse to re-download it to see. After all of hoops I jumped through, they still keep emailing me!! I made very sure to make sure I would not receive any emails, I made sure to unsubscribe from them, yet they still keep showing up. Then they sent me a survey email, ok fair enough. However if this small start up trying to get off the ground, actually cared, or read emails, they would know all the answers with out still pestering me, even after I took the blasted survey. Seriously leave me alone please.

When it works!?! 2.5 Stars. When it works it’s great and easy to use, but that’s only about 1 in 5 purchases (I’ve only used it a gas stations so far). The rest of the time I get emails saying my cash back couldn’t be processed because they can’t find record of the transaction. I missed out on a handful of cash backs, before I learned to print and keep a receipt for each transaction so I can respond to the rejection email with a picture of the receipt. I get gas 2-3 times a week so it’s a bit of a hassle and waste of paper. They will usually process the cash back once I send them a copy of the receipt (not sure why they don’t just let you upload it from the start to save time)…but even then it’s done outside the app history so it’s hard to tell if they really do it and it’s usually after you’ve already waited about 3 weeks. I’ve also had one transaction that I’ve emailed them about 6 different times over the last 2 weeks and have yet to get any response to any of the emails. I’d like to give this more stars because the cash back is great, but there is too much extra work done on my part just to make each transaction process when the app has the ability to make it easy if it worked properly.

From Nerko.. Today I tried to cash in my reward when buying fuel on the Upside application. I first tried transferring $16 to a Wells Fargo bank account. It showed me an error, it said it can't go to the bank account, it can be gifted to Walmart, imagine what happened, the error happened again and the money disappeared. They say it alienates you on help, you talk and communicate with a machine that takes you into everything, but doesn't give you back the money you earned by buying gas at gas stations. A big surprise in the scam of this Upside application, until they don't return my 16 dollars, I won't change my opinion that there is a scam behind this Next day Here I want to thank the Update application team that after my writing and experience, they returned my $16 that I earned through fuel purchase rewards. But also to convey that it also cannot happen when you go to buy fuel at a gas station that gives rewards and when you need to top up your account, an error occurs several times, I restart the iPhone and when I come back I get a message that my time has expired for account impregnation. Everything else works fine on the phone, only on the Upside I got an error. Sometimes it's not fair. I only hope that you will improve for the better, I wish you luck in your future work.

Hopeful but still some glitches but better.. Update, I have since given this a second chance. It has paid me on several transactions. However, the last two offers claimed that I would receive a 20 cent a gallon bonus. That didn’t happen on the first transaction and the second transaction is pending, we’ll see. I drive a lot and thought that getting cash back would be beneficial. I filled up twice in two days. I followed the directions and the app history says both are processing. One was six days ago and the other was four days ago. The app states that normally the cash back will post in four days. I even received a email from the app stating that it was taking longer than expected. However the app also states that after ten days it will be impossible to process the payment. Needless to say, my first experiences with this app has been a bit disappointing. Update, I never received confirmation that I bought fuel on my first two transactions. I contacted the app help line. Then I received two emails stating that I would not get credit for ether transaction. I will be deleting this app and going back to GasBuddy. I consider this a case of classic bait and switch. Stay away unless you want to jump through hoops.

Too frustrating to bother with. App does not work like it used to. You have to claim an offer before you can upload your receipt, drive to the gas station you claimed the offer at which is a lot of the times not the gas station you would have chosen to go to without the promise of those sweet few penny's you’ll save IF the app works, and btw you’ll probably waste more time and miles going out of your way to reach said gas station. Then you have to check in when at the gas station, but the app does not remember claimed offer, so you try again to claim offer and check in with the same result, then you try one more time with no luck. Then you just get the gas and hope the printer works so you can get your receipt (sometimes it doesn’t print the receipt so you have to go inside to get the receipt, but sometimes for those of us who get out of work late at night the doors are locked and you can’t get a receipt at all) and you think maybe it’ll work now, only to find out you have reached the maximum amount of claimed offers. So you search the app for your “claimed offers” and it says 0 claimed offers. At that point you have no way to upload your receipt at all. And the “help” option doesn’t offer any actual help, it’s just a bunch of answers to questions that someone thought would be common.

If I could give it negative stars I would…. Let’s see, this app makes a lot of promises it cannot fulfill. Don’t listen to these obvious fake reviews, do yourself a favor and save yourself the pain that I had to go through. The app is very cheaply made and you can definitely tell. It crashes often, it forgets inputs. The customer service is the equivalent of a sewage drain in the middle of Times Square, stinky attitudes and disgusting behavior. You will be better off using the rewards system your local gas station uses because if you try to combine the two they will claim that you got a “better deal” with the gas station. They take about 2 weeks to give you cash back and when you do finally get it, i the math is never correct. You have to email every customer service (which they take 4 days to get back to you), every other time you actually use the app because they can never “find your purchase”. So essentially you’re doing the job of the app yourself….At this point, why even have it? It’s not even worth it, please for the love of whomever and whatever you love, DO NOT use this app! It will leave you DISAPPOINTED, CONFUSED, AND ANNOYED. This poor, obvious, thrown together prototype someone made in their backyard when they got bored needs to be THROWN in the garbage immediately!!

Wording error. So the app is pretty much straight forward and fairly easy to use. The first time I used it I didn’t have any trouble but today, my second attempt, I got an email saying that my offer didn’t go through and started looking closer. Okay, so on the app it clearly says “tap check in once you make your purchase”; this direction would imply you to “check in” once the transaction has been completed…since now you’ve made your purchase. However, the email states ,in its troubleshoot list, that you must “claim your offer before you pay.” Since that is the case, that particular phrasing needs to be used in the app to give better understanding to the apps users. My first use I didn’t really understand and accidentally checked in twice once before and after my purchase which explains why it went through. Slightly annoyed but I’ll know better in the future. So with that the only other complaint is the limited gas stations listed for offers. I haven’t tried to claim any of the cash back; hopefully that’s a smooth process. I liked that you don’t have to give a bunch of info to get started though which is a plus. Gave three stars, hopefully things improve in the next update.

Missing cash back, offer is not honored, no legit customer service. I got this app through Instacart because I do gig apps for a living it offered me an extra $.25 off a gallon my first two purchases I wish I paid attention my first purchase I ended up getting only $.19 off a gallon there was no extra $.25 added my second purchase I paid a little more attention I took a screenshot of the offer that I excepted it was supposed to be $.32 off a gallon with the extra $.25 off a gallon since it was my second purchase they paid me for $.11 a gallon huge difference when we’re talking about gas! All in all there’s about six dollars worth of cash bag just off my first two purchases alone missing seems like more of a hassle than it’s worth I could’ve save that by going to a cheaper gas station versus waiting and not getting the cash back and being out the money up frontier When they replied they tried to explain the breakdown but they don’t know how to math 🙄 I sent them screenshots showing them what I was missing and even gave them the total amount that was missing and they still didn’t make it right and then they replied to this bad review and said they didn’t see any extra bonuses even though I sent them a screenshot showing them the extra promotion that they didn’t give me

Only a Couple Problems, Otherwise Amazing. I would give this five stars but there are a couple things that are annoying that I just wanted to bring to the attention of the developers. As of a few months ago, my Google login seems to only be good for a few days before I am required to sign in again to the app. So basically, every time I want to fill my car up about once every 4 to 7 days, I have to sign in with my Google credentials. It used to not be like this and it’s annoying that I have to do that now. The only other thing that bugs me a bit is that (just before filling up the tank) the list of previously used credit cards are extremely small and it is easy to accidentally click on the wrong credit card. I have my work card and I have a few personal cards that I use. If I accidentally clicked on the wrong card, then I have to use that card or forfeit the claim. For that matter, I also wish that I could edit the list of cards and or just assign names to them such as work, Capitals One, or Chase, etc. The list currently just shows numbers and whether it is Visa or Mastercard and it is sometimes hard to figure out among all my Visas.

Obviously no user centered design by product management. It only takes 2 minutes using the app to realize how pathetic the design process is for produxt development. And that’s after you have to wait from 15 to 25 seconds for the stupid app to even load. Then you presented with everything under the sun for gas AND restaurants AND groceries. I only want gas, don’t show me all the other crap that clutters the screen and list. Simply remember my last choice and stick with that until I change or, crazy idea, let default to only what I want instead have loading everything and then me having to select gas to remove the clutter. Hint: might help with load time? You think? And the text is pathetic. It’s either so clutter we all the garbage or the map details hide/clutter the info you need to determine if you want to click on it for details. AND, for gods sake, remember where I am when I have to switch apps for some reason and come right back instead I have to go through the entire horrible load time and then remove all the pointless items and then go find that station/business AGAIN 3 minutes later. How about you simply figure the UI and UA from GasBuddy…. then maybe you’ll have an app that doesn’t act like it was built in 2010. It’s not that hard if you do basic 101 Product Design/Build and proper UAT.

Great when it’s working. Horrible when it’s not.. I’ve been using Upside on and off for a couple of years. When it’s working, it does exactly what it should do. Exactly what it advertises to do. However, whenever there’s issues, the app is completely useless for long periods. There is nowhere in the app to submit a bug report, so I guess I’m doing it here. I also can’t seem to get a hold of representatives in the app. But the useless chat bot is there! My current issue that I’ve been dealing with for several weeks now, is when I attempt to claim an offer, and therefore it pulls up the menu, asking which card I used for the transaction. I select the card, that menu disappears, and….nothing happens. No confirmation, no nothing. But I’ll get notifications for the next few hours, begging me to finish claiming my offer, which means it never went through. There’s nothing more I can do when this happens. I probably lost quite a bit of change simply because it will never finish claiming it. Like I said, finding customer support of any kind besides “FAQ” in the app seems to be a lost cause. Because address, issues in the app persist for weeks or longer before they’re fixed, if they are fixed. TLDR: when it’s working, great, it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to. If you have a bug or issue, God help you.

Issues and no response from email. I got a new phone early last week, and transferred all my info and apps to the new phone. I was not surprised to be logged out when i went to check my upside account. I tried to log in with my email, it told me that i used facebook. So i logged on to it with facebook, and it told me i used email. It went back and forth like that a few times. So i deleted the app, made sure that the app AND my phone were on the latest version, reinstalled it, and still the same issue. I just checked it again today after waiting 2 days and its still giving me issues. I sent an email out days ago and it told me they should get back to me around 24 hours. I gave it days. I have checked all my folder’s including spam but there is no reply. Im about to delete the app entirely. I would just cave and make a new account but i was a little over $8 out of the $10 needed to cash out. Im giving it until the end of the week, it’s Tuesday today, and then I’ll probably just delete my app. If i havent received a response by then i never will. Pretty bummed because i loved this app until this.

Just read and followed directions….. I had been frustrated the past couple of weeks when my Upside app wouldn’t load so I took to reading the reviews to see if anyone else had experienced similar. Read a few replies from their customer service to uninstall and reinstall the app and lo and behold it worked! Now my app loads up fine and I’m able to see all my past money earned. ($40) Very happy! I also never thanked you guys for extending to my city! (So thanks!!!) After hearing about it on the radio I ended up waiting a whole year before they came. Ecstatic it finally did! Saving on gas these days is more important now than ever, a lot of people could benefit if they only knew about it. Be patient, you will get your money! The app works better now than it did before. Now it just recognizes the card I use when I check in at the gas station I want to use. No more sending pictures of receipts! I love it! I will note that if a live gas price doesn’t match the one listed in the app you have to update it on the app. If you don’t you - you will likely lose your cash back! Very important!

Looks like it’s stopped paying... again 🙄. I’ve been using this app almost daily since February. I drive almost 200 miles a day so I buy a lot of gas and always use this app when I do so. For the most part it works great. I get gas and usually within a day I’ve got my reward. However, sometimes the payments stop coming. They will back up for days on end. Usually when this happens I’ll eventually get some lame excuse on why my payment cannot be processed. I’ve noticed this problem has gotten worse since they’ve added more stations where you “check in” instead of uploading your receipt. Right now it’s Aug. 22. I have three “processing” transactions from the 20th, 19th, and 17th. And before a reply comes to this review, I want to say that whenever I claim a deal, I sync the GetUpside map to my phone map and have it direct me to the exact station that is supposed to be the one I’ve claimed according to your own app. I check in and select my card as soon as I arrive before I pump my fuel. And I only have one card on file. This is getting frustrating and I hope the developers fix whatever is going on. I’m starting to lose faith in this app.

Pay attention to $ back amounts and hold your receipt until payout.. First and foremost I really like this app. I literally use it every time I gas up. Initially when I first started using I always went to my favorite gas stations. It took me a while to realize that my favorite places to gas up didn’t always offer the most $ back. Asked my friend a question about it and he tipped me off that when you open the app to look at all the stations in your area to see which is actually offering the most. Also there have been 3 times that I’ve used it and done everything correctly, claim offer, and select correct debit card I’m using for transaction. Processing shows up in the history, but for what ever reason some type of glitch occurs and you get an email saying “It’s taking longer to process this transaction than expected.” Then 3 to 4 days later an email stating for whatever reason it can’t be processed. On the good side there’s a link on the email to question or dispute the failure to process. If you still have the receipt for that particular purchase from my experience emailing it usually completes the process and your cash back is available a few days later. Which is why I said save your receipts until the transaction is complete and you get confirmation of your cash back. Not sure what causes it but emailing customer service with the receipt solves it quite easily and they’re very friendly about it.

Deceiving (edited). I chose to fill up my Jeep at a Casey’s on June 9th. The Walmart gas station was about $.40/gal cheaper, but Upside showed Casey’s having an offer of something around $.40/gal cash back (I can’t remember the exact amounts, but it was close to this). I put 17 gallons in my Jeep. Today, on June 15th, 6 days later, Upside finally processed the offer. Except it was processed at Casey’s current offer of $.06/gal cash back. The only reason I chose Casey’s over Walmart with that price difference was for the cash back because it made it worth it. What an absolute scam that was. When we use this app it makes us scan our receipt to include the time and date of the purchase. I would expect part of that to mean we are locked in at the offer that was valid at the time of our purchase. When I tried to find a way to contact Upside about this, all I found was the useless FAQ section that never actually answers the question. I even tried chatting with the bot that answers automatically and the bot didn’t have an answer either. This was only my second time using this app and it may be my last if this is how it deceives you. Especially with no customer service. EDIT I was finally able to reach customer service. After a few emails back and forth, they agreed to fix my issue and the proper amount was added to my account.

Worst Step-by-Step App. Hear about this App on the radio all week. Tried it out. I create an account, opened the app, click on claim for gas to fill up, chose premium, it told me which gas station to go, went completely out of my way backwards from where I live to go to the ONLY gas station available in my area, add card to “mywallet” as the app instructed, clicked on claim when I arrived, it tells me to select card, and then that’s it… nothing else… so, what do I do? I get out and pump gas into my vehicle. Get home and decide to read more about it and to make sure I got my $0.25 per gallon… my account balance says $0.00 and that I have 4 hours to claim gas. Well, I mess around on the app and nothing is EXPLAINING anything. I check my email and of course I’m the stupid email is where they describe that I have to do all these “in-app” things at the pump. But the app didn’t do that for me. Instead it said I already claimed and that I need to “Tap” the “I-Paid” button which isn’t available. Whatever, completely worthless and not user friendly for first timers. Also, they do not use gas stations on military installations so yeah, I was fooled by this app and spent $7 more in gas fees to try to save $2.50 from this app. When I could’ve gotten $7.00 instead total using the gas station on the military installation. Never again.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND YOU’RE BEING DECEIVED. This company I thought was good until you go to places like where you have to upload a receipt for your cash back. All the ones that are like that when uploading the receipt in 1-4 days you’re to receive cash back. I’ve uploaded all the receipts right then. I normally throw the receipt away after it says successfully uploaded but days go by & it’s still processing for days I reached out to them several times about this issue because the last one I had I kept the receipt okay I contacted them through email informing them that I still have the receipt on hand if I need to upload again even tho it was uploaded already successfully. I still as of yet to get a response back from them but they clearer declined it saying it’s too many days when I’ve reached out to them several times before this was sent. I believe they get the ratings from themselves, friends, & family because this is such bull crap when it comes down to uploading a receipt & cs doesn’t get back to you at plus there’s no way you can contact them periodt sad bad customer service I’m so disappointed with the customer service side they have none I guess because you hit help it gives you FAQ why have away to message if you are going to have the FAQ continue to come up You can’t chat with no live person & it’s sad as sad can be

Seriously TRASH!. This app is a complete waste of time! I have had problems with every single transaction and “no proof of purchase” every time, even when providing the seller’s printed receipts! I have had to provide a copy of my billing statement each time, showing the place, date and time of purchase, along with the amount. It takes so long to process (more than 7 days) I’m guessing you hope we’ll just get frustrated and give up so you don’t have to pay. Well that works! Upside is a joke and so is customer service. I should’ve listened to the reviews in the AppStore, many of which I feel are fake good reviews. When customer service decides to answer, it reads like a comedy script. The app tells me I’ve successfully completed check-in and has even asked for an uploaded receipt right at the point of sale. I’m either told the offer timed out because your stupid bots don’t process receipts in time; told offers don’t work with my Fleet card (which I don’t even HAVE a Fleet card); told by customer service that they’ll process my transaction “at the back end so I won’t see it in the app”) which is deceptive and sketchy as all get out, and then don’t even receive what I was told I would get; and then charges me $1 to cash out via PayPal! What a freaking joke. I won’t be using this “service” anymore and will tell my friends and family the same.

Love the new name upgraded!. I love the app! Had it ever since 2018 don’t regret it at all whatsoevr 🤷🏾‍♀️ it’s free money building up for me! I only given it a 4 ⭐️ outta 5 bc I can’t update my email address. I contacted support & was told atm we r not updating email addresses but I can update anything else 🙄🫤 thts super annoying when apps do this. I love to c my history etc since I had it since 2018 & for me to jst deactivate & start ovr baffles me bc I don’t like starting ovr when I had this app long enough. I understand if I forgot my login info which tht doesn’t happens bc u can always click on “forgot password” link. So now I still have to use my old email for this particular app since I can’t update my email but hopefully which am wishing in the near future tht it changes bc y can’t we loyal customers change/update email address. Esp now since they’re making major changes to the app but we Upside customers can’t update ours 🤦🏾‍♀️🙄 I don’t like tht! But overall love the app love the new name but w/all these new updates the app now loss up slower when am at locations trying to checkin/lid up receipts. Like whts rlly up w/tht! Unless it’s the 5G bc I don’t have a phone tht already comes w/ 5G all I did was update my SIM card not my iPhone yet but unfortunately I will soon. B even when am at home using my food WiFi the GetUpside/Upside app still loads up slower.

Inconsistent with getting cash back. I have been using this app for several years and since you’ve changed the app where it is automatically supposed to give you cash back when you link it to your credit card there always seems to be a problem. I have my credit card is in my get upside wallet and follow all the steps and 80% of the time I don’t get cash back and have to “prove” the purchase by sending you a copy of the receipt or my credit card statement. And this is after waiting 2 1/2 weeks after I made the purchase so very few people keep the receipts I think you have a system problem and you’re getting kickbacks from companies while not paying out. This is very deceitful The system worked much better where you could scan in your receipt as soon as you were made the purchase, since I always received cash back right away. Please fix!!! Your response is useless since it doesn’t let me submit a ticket to your developers!! I have shared this info with the support team about missing cash back and they finally give me my cash back . But I WANT the developers to resolve this permanently so customers don’t have to always send their receipt 2 weeks after they made the purchase. Please let me know how to contact your developers!!

Deceptive business practices. We claimed an offer for $.23 per gallon at a gas station while traveling, and they denied it stating the station doesn’t actually have an offer for the type of gas we purchased. According to the app, the station DID have the offer. I have learned from past experience with them, it is a good idea to have a screenshot of the offer you are redeeming, to make sure you get what you were promised. We screenshot it at time of purchase and sent it, along with the receipt, in a reply email to support. They replied stating there was a glitch in their app and the station did not actually have an offer, even though the app showed it did. WHAT?! Their solution was to provide us $.01 per gallon in a manual cash back and a $.05 per gallon bonus on the next completed offer. They refused to give us the $.23 per gallon credit, as their app advertised. Very deceptive business practices. Any business owner knows the right thing to do is honor the advertised offer… it’s the cost of doing business, not to mention an incentive to get your staff to fix the glitch asap. How is the consumer to know which offers are valid and which are ‘glitches’ that won’t be honored? We won’t be going out of our way any more to purchase fuel at a station recommended by this app; it’s just not worth the hassle since the app is not reliable.

Excellent Customer Service from personal experience. It’s like a free fill up every now and then. Works great ! Now a bit of warning from personal experience. When having to upload receipts, just upload it and click attach receipt then a few days later you get the cash back without any issues. Where i went wrong was when I decided to review my receipts after the upload. This is where I checked boxes to questions if the receipt had time, location, address, etc. I checked some boxes but couldn’t check the box about time because my receipt didn’t have time on it and because of that I didn’t get cash back for that receipt. It created a issue of receipt not matched. But if you just upload the receipt then click attach receipt, EVERYTHING works out perfectly. Don’t try to do more than that like I did and then caused more headaches for myself blaming the software or the company for the issues when it was my fault from the beginning….oops my bad! (I say excellent customer service from personal experience because through out the whole time of trying to figure out my issues, the customer service team was very helpful, kind, and courtesy to me)

Used to be good til it stopped working! Updated. Just like the title says. It was good at first but hasn’t worked since October of last year. They keep doing updates but failing to fix the issue of their instant check in. There is no other way to upload a receipt so since November the app has failed to work. Wish they would at least allow us to upload a receipt manually since the instant check in doesn’t work. So it’s a pointless app now. Waste of space on my phone. Too bad. —-updated—- Okay so they updated FINALLY and digital purchases are able to print a receipt and upload - only took them 8 months - but they refused to honor the credit card statements I sent them - at the request of their customer service - from Oct 2020 to May 2021. I was initially told that even the old receipts would be honored if I sent the credit card statements but then when I did send them they said it’s too late - those were old purchases. Which was EXACTLY why I sent them (& was told to send them). Clearly their customer service people aren’t communicating properly to public OR within their own org. So their customer service is less than poor but when the automated app works as it should - at least it works as it should.

Almost perfect. Great value.. I’ve been using Upside for a few months now. I started using it for gas and that’s a really good deal. Then when I bought my electric car, I didn’t need the gas feature anymore. Now I use Upside for the great deals at restaurants. There’s some that pay really high percentage back. My only reservation with giving it five stars is that sometimes the deals are hard to find on the map. There should be a preference for whether you want to search for gas or restaurants. Most of the time Upside is suggesting gas stations when I don’t need that option anymore. When I tap on the map, I want to look for restaurants by default. Another glitch that sometimes happens is I see a deal on the map for cashback at a restaurant and then when I get to the restaurant sometimes it has disappeared. A pinch and zoom on the map to look for it and it’s nowhere to be found. Sometimes it comes back later after I’ve left the restaurant. That’s happened at least once. Sometimes restaurants will discontinue offering cash back through Upside. But there are some restaurants that offer it consistently every single week. So this app is almost perfect with a few fixes. I’ve earned at least $100 back already. Pretty amazing! More places should offer deals with Upside.

Amazing app!. Awesome app! It really works, no bull. You get cash back on gas, food, and groceries (groceries isn’t available in my area - Houston) you just get on the app and it acts like a google maps, you find gas stations on the map that participate, mainly I’ve seen shells and Exxon’s. You click the location you want and depending on location it tells you how much money you get back, Some places 1cent per gallon, more are 6-12 cents per gallon, and I’ve even seen 50-60 cents per gallon back. You just claim, then you have four hours from that moment to pay with card, pump (full price), and then get a receipt and upload and you receive your money 24-48 hours later but I usually receive the next day. That money can be cashed out through PayPal, by check but I think you need at least $15 and they charge $1 fee or through many select gift cards. (Chili’s, iTunes, amc, you name it and they got it for the most part. They have like 20-30 different ones. It’s also cool because I have a company gas card so that means I don’t pay for gas and I fill up always the company truck and am making money off them lol

Worth it!. In 2 years and 3 months, I have gotten $519 cask back. We travel the country pulling a THOW with a diesel truck and Upside participating gas stations have been found at about 90% of our stops and along our routes. We’ve also used Upside at some restaurants and grocery stores with 98% success. Had one issue where a restaurant used online receipts and it didn’t have all of the info Upside requires to process the receipt properly. So make sure restaurant uses in-store receipts or your charge is automatically looked up by Upside in the restaurant’s system (blue pentagon symbol with a lightning bolt in it on the opportunity listing in the app). There are restrictions/limitations with each kind of cash back opportunity, but they are easily found in the app for each establishment for you to read and assess for yourself if the opportunity is worth it or not. It’s a free app so it’s not like you are losing money if the opportunity isn’t right for you. Using the establishments where Upside automatically finds your charge makes this the most user friendly, free cash back app I have ever used and fortunately the number of establishments where that occurs has increased dramatically in the 2 years I have been using it. Totally worth the effort!

Used to love this app but not anymore. This used to be an amazing app. I was saving so much money on gas and the process was flawless. However, they implemented the “check in” process whereby you skip taking a picture of your receipt and the cash back is supposed to be verified based on the credit card you have on file being used at the pump once you hit check in. Nope!!! It has never worked for me. EVERY single time I have to email the company because I don’t get the gas credit. This is also happening to my referrals. Which means I’m not getting my referral credits. This app needs to eliminate the “check in” process and go back to taking a picture of the receipt for verification. There was NEVER an issue with that method. I’m seriously considering deleting this app because I'm buying gas at stations which have higher prices, but will be lower with the credit, however if I’m not getting the credit then I’m better off getting my gas at stations with cheaper gas prices, no app needed!!!! Horrible customer service too! When I emailed them it took me a month of emailing back and forth to get the credit from just once transaction.

Saves You Money, But Very Frustrating App. It does what it says it does. I’ve saved $40 on gas so far, and this app is free. So that’s very nice. But it’s a very frustrating app to use. The app works fine until it’s time to actually prove to it that you filled up at the gas station with the offer you “claimed”. The app instructs you to tap a button that doesn’t exist on the screen in order to “arrive” at the gas station. So I looked it up online and people say you have to log out and log back in. Then it prompts you with the option to “upload receipt” which is what I do. But now the scanning technology which scans your receipt on the app doesn’t work anymore! So I have to upload a pic instead. Logging out and logging back in after you’ve claimed your offer is what makes it eventually work, but not every time. Sometimes I have to wait a few hours after I’ve completed the transaction before logging out and logging back in will prompt the option to “upload receipt”, which appears to be the only way I can prove to Upside I completed the transaction. It always works eventually, and I’ve saved $40 so far so that really is nice, but the app is buggy and has these issues. I really hope they fix it, it would be a dream to have this app finally just be smooth throughout the whole experience. But as of now it is a chore, they do make you work a bit for the savings.

Potential problems using Apple ID. First of all, I really like the Upside app. I recommend it to others. I’ve maybe earned about $20 so far using it, but have also lost out on about $10 because I can’t get back into the app using my Apple ID to log in. It’s not really the apps fault, but only rated 4 stars because of this circumstance. Here is what happened… I initially created a login with my email address and a strong password and everything was fine for 9 months maybe. Then I started to have to enter my password every time I accessed the app. Apple’s password manager wouldn’t work. I became frustrated finding where I had recorded the password and entering it manually every time I wanted to use the app so I logged out of the app and created. New account using my Apple ID to log in. After three uses and accumulating about $10 in rebates, I would get an error when trying to log in using the Apple ID. Upside support isn’t able to help because they don’t get passed the actual email address Apple uses and passes to the app (I know I’m probably not explaining it right). I tried deleting an reinstalling the app, changing my Apple ID password, but I still get the same error. As far as i know, the account using the Apple ID is gone for good and I no longer can use Apple ID to login to the app at all. Now I’m using Google to log in. Hopefully I don’t encounter something similar with that ID.

We discovered the catch to this app. Their advertisements claim that there’s no ‘catch’ to this app but we Quickly discovered what the ‘catch’ is… We work on the road so we buy a lot of fuel in a lot of different towns and cities of all different sizes all over the country running three trucks. What we noticed almost immediately was even in a large city it will only show one single station which is almost always priced .40 tto .65 cents a gallon more than the other stations in the area. Of course the app can afford to give you .25 a gallon back when the stations in their network are charging an average of .50 a gallon more to begin with. That means you actually end up .25 a gallon in the hole, and since you’re paying full price upfront only getting your money back from them later means they actually have that money where they can make interest off of it instead of you having it had you simply gone to a cheaper station in the first place. Plus often seem to be in an out of the way part of town, many are small rundown looking stations in bad areas. If you want to save money on gas there are much better apps for that such as Gas Buddy, etc. Where they simply show you which stations in the area have the cheapest gas to begin with so you get real savings instantly.

Don’t waste your time!. I got this application and signed up with my Facebook account. After earning about $20 I couldn’t cash out until I confirmed a received email and unfortunately my email address associated with my Facebook was a school email address I no longer had access to. They do not have the option to update or change the email address on file, fine, that’s my bad. So they tell me the only way is to open a new account with the correct email address so they can transfer the rewards. I did that. Then they keep asking for more account information. I send them what they ask for. Then they say the card on file is different than the new one and I explain that card was compromised and the account was closed and I had to open a new bank account. They can’t transfer. Fine. I change so that both accounts have the same card on file. Then the continue to ask me for proof of my previous card and account which I no longer have access to because the account was compromised which I mention multiple times- account is closed and card has been cut up and thrown away, no records left on it. They still can’t transfer my reward money I earned to me, it’s been weeks going back and forth just for me to get the $20 I earned using their application! Huge hassle, never got reward money, horrible customer service! Don’t waste your time, not worth it.

Didn’t work for me, I don’t recommend. So I figured I’d give this app a shot. I imagine we’re all being tracked anyways for marketing purposes, so we might as try and get a little discount out of it. When I finally went to use it, I noticed that the Circle K by my house was around 4 cents/gallon cheaper than other stations IF I were to use the app promotional rebate. Without the app rebate it was around 20 cents/gallon more than a few of the other surrounding stations. That was fine by me because I had the magical upside app. So I submitted everything and jumped through their little hoops then played the waiting game. It’s been a little over two weeks now and it looks like I’m getting no rebate. They didn’t provide a reason why I may not have qualified, or even a denial. Under the historical claim it says “processing” which it’s said from the beginning. Only now they’ve added “If after 10 days we cannot find your transaction in partner provided data, we unfortunately cannot provide cash back.” Which pretty much translates into “get bent.” SMH, First time using it and I get burnt. I can’t find an option to delete my account so now they’re another company out there with my info. I absolutely do not recommend this app. I recommend you do your own research to find better prices, rather than relying on unreliable rebates.

Good app but chance to be great. The app has been fantastic and I had given it 5 stars in the past but ever since the update a few months ago where the app allowed location check in via GPS at a station and no upload of receipt and they search for your card number in a transaction with that station it hasn’t worked in those instances and no money back is earned and have to weeks later submit the receipt to the support team. It still works flawlessly and quickly if you do it the old way of uploading a receipt. Only issue is when you check in at a station that does it that way you have to do it that way and no option to upload receipt is ever given. So for now I try to avoid stations that use the check in option but point is I shouldn’t have to avoid those and unfortunately those stations tend to be the higher cash back amounts. If the team fixes this issue or at least allow the user to choose the way they would like to do it (either check in or upload receipt) regardless if the station is a check in station, the app would be back to 5 stars. Otherwise stick with the non check in stations and you will be ok and the app will work good for you.

I REALLY wanted to like this app.. I commute 700 mile per week. So believe me when I say that I really wanted to like this app. I just tried my third attempt at using the app....1/3 attempts worked great but I have learned a little so I thought share a review.I gave it two stars because the concept and the ease-of-use for the app is really exceptional. The app is not too bulky and very straight forward. I love that you don’t have to give them all this personal info just to use the app. However, that’s pretty much where the benefit stops. With a little home work you can find out which gas stations will offer some savings. Not all the one listed will actually save you money. The problem is that so many of the gas stations that I see listed on this app are seriously depleted businesses. I’m not talking about cleanliness. I mean the pumps are broken, printers don’t work, gas is awful and causes your car to run rough... Today (for example) the only station that would offer me an actual savings only had 2 out of the 12 pumps that were operating. And they both had people parked at them while they stood inside talking and doing whatever. Not worth the $1.00 total savings to try to convince them to let me pump my gas. In the end.....they have plenty of credit cards that earn points that will convert into gift cards. Get one of those, be responsible with it, and get your gas wherever you feel like.

Terrible! Do not download.. The app worked fine my first few purchases. Then the app sent offers for the week of Valentine’s Day, offering $2.14 on top of every gas purchase made at that time. I never received payment from those fill ups even though they’re dated during the promo period. Fast forward to the next two times I filled up. I took offers for .20/gl one day and another day took an offer for .34/gl. The payments came back in the form of .04/gl and .17/gl. Sorry but when you search for the best deals and go out of your way to get them, the offer should be reflected correctly. When taking the issues up with “customer service,” I was told the initial Valentine’s Day offer was expired and they had “no way” of looking up the reason they were denied. Absolute joke of an app. If you decide to go with the garbage app I would take screen shots of all the offers you’re claiming and save your receipts, even then it’s your word and proof of purchase against theirs. After all these issues, I had yet again a THIRD purchase of gasoline where I was told I purchased premium and not the regular unleaded and received .08 back instead of .25 a gallon back. Issue was submitted and waiting for a response. DONT GET!

Untrustworthy Payout method, but it’s ok. This app has had some merit but I don’t trust it’s payout method. If you try to cash out it requires you to log into your bank account in order to complete it. I don’t trust or understand that. It makes no sense why they need my direct log in. All they should need is a routing number and account number. Maybe a card. But not a log in. I will not be using that means to pay out. It does give you the option for pay pal and gift cards. The gift cards are valid but take time to be delivered to your email. I’ve been using this for about 2 years, not super consistently, but have used it for the vast majority of my gas purchases, just to get something back. There are not a whole lot of options in where to get gas or food and earn. And the earning are very small. Not complaining, just stating it’s advertised as something people can earn hundreds from. And I drive A LOT. In total I have racked up a little over $30 in two years. I do drive a small car. And not all my purchases have gone through this. But I have used this app A LOT to only make $30, in two years. And I can’t cash it out the way I want because I don’t trust the method.

Poor Customer Service. There were 2 offers at the same station. However, the LOWER offer (4 cents) was visible ONLY if I zoomed in on the map while the HIGHER offer (8 cents) was visible in a plain search. This is a deceptive practice. I only realized this because when I saw the payout it was much lower than the offer. So I went back to the app to make sure and the 8 cent offer was still there. However, there was also a hidden offer at the same station only visible if you zoomed in as far as possible on the map. If that’s not clear then imagine if I put up a large sign that says “8 cents back on every gallon!” Then you fill your tank only to realize the next day that you only received 4 cents back. You come back to check the sign and indeed it says 8 cents. However, when you closely inspect it you see a tiny little sign that says 4 cents back—two offers at the same station, one plainly visible and another hidden from view. This is EXACTLY what happened with the app and it’s deceptive. However, I wasn’t even paid 4 cents, it was 3 cents. This is extremely deceptive. When I contacted customer service about it they blew me off and told me that the payment (of 3 cents) was made and if I had additional questions go to the FAQ page. Nice.

The app is so bad and glitchy. The cash back options for gas are nice, I definitely think they could give a higher ¢ amount back per gallon though. However truly the worst thing is how glitchy and crappy the app is. It is so user unfriendly and glitchy that it is honestly my least favorite app, however it’s the only gas cashback program I know of. If the app itself was better, I don’t think that using Upside would be so stressful, time-consuming and tedious. The app consistently has gas station locations wrong, and will drop me off a mile away from the actual gas station. The screen that reloads with the map of gas stations participating in Upside takes a very long time, and will constantly zoom away from your physical location to areas behind where you have traveled. The app does not stay on the same page, so when you click to get directions to a gas station and then click back to try to verify that it’s right or claim the cash back, the entire app refreshes and you have to find the station again. It’s also very frustrating that the app takes about 30 seconds to load, went off and you’re trying to find a gas station on the fly and by the time that you can see an actual station and claim some thing, you’ve already missed the exit. Overall, upside could really revamp this app and make it better, but right now it is just absolutely lacking and quite frustrating to use.

(Update - issue fixed. )Cash out to PayPal deducted my reward but it was not deposited into PayPal. (Update - I reached out to support and my issue was resolved. I received my PayPal refund. Still didn’t give a 5 because there should have been in-app instructions on how to contact support and how long to wait for Paypal credits. I guess there’s normally a 1-2 day lag ) I picked the cash out to gift card option and chose PayPal. The system asked for my PayPal email address which I entered. Then I received a message saying the amount was deposited into my account. Except it wasn’t. And in my “history “ there’s no record of my PayPal transaction. And I didn’t get a confirmation email. But my balance is now $0. And there’s no option to contact the company for assistance. My advice is - as soon as you reach the minimum amount to cash out, try it and see if you loose all your accumulated money like I did. If so, stop wasting your time with this app. It may be just a PayPal issue. Possibly the other giftcard options actually work. I hope the company removes PayPal as an option since it appears to just make your $ disappear. This has been a frustrating experience.

Unbelievably easy. This app is the best app I could have ever downloaded. You buy gas or diesel usually weekly, so why not make a few cents on the gallon. Especially now that gas prices are so low. I have personally cashed out over $325 in FREE MONEY. Sent straight to my PayPal, gift cards or they’ll mail you a check. You bring up the app and it shows stations around you. You can pick the one that has the highest cash back option or go to any of the ones that show up and you receive that much back per gallon of fuel. Can’t say it any clearer but to download it and try it for yourself. It’s totally free and the way you get paid is that the stores pay GetUpside so much to try and get you into their stores and buy your products there. It’s paid advertising at its finest and this app literally shares the wealth (socialists could learn a thing or two from here 😬😝) but seriously I 100% recommend this for you and all your family members. There’s absolutely no risks to worry about and you act and literally get paid to shop!!

I really want to give 5 stars but…. So, this app is great. Especially for an avid couponer who stacks those with credit card discounts and this app(and fetch) together save me a ton of money. The interface of the app is easy to understand and use, and I like the layout! My only gripes about this app stopping me from giving it 5 stars are: 1) the cash out requirements keep increasing. When I started using the app I could cash out any amount via PayPal.. now it’s a $15 minimum or get a $1 fee. 2) the app discounts are severely lacking as of late. Hardly putting on new eateries, extremely low gas offers at a lot of locations (as low as .01 ¢ per gallon and I’m in HOUSTON), etc. I used to give myself an excuse to try a new place out thanks to the discounts provided by the app in conjunction with other discounts. The 20% + back was a huge draw for me to try a new place and a few I’ve become regulars at thanks to this app! Wish to see more of that. All in all it’s a simple yet extraordinarily handy app that stacks with all the usual financial trickery. Recommended! (:

Complete waste of time.. Yeah, it's free money but it isn't much and it can sometimes be a challenge finding a participating gas station. I found myself driving a little out of my way to find one. I've earned $4.68 for the entire month of march. That would've been about another dollar but, wouldn't you know it, my last redemption "expired" because I didn't add the receipt(which I absolutely did). That just happened to be a particularly high payout(maybe a dollar as opposed to the usual $0.25/gal-$0.50/gal. How convenient for them! In closing, it's hard to complain about free money but for the amounts you earn per fill up coupled with the fact that most gas stations don't participate, it's a pretty hard sell and I'd be reluctant to recommend it to anyone. It's pretty much a waste of time. 2/5 stars because again, free money. Eh... Update: I have now had 3 of my highest payouts rejected. I noticed they’re all from BP which doesnt seem to print receipts at the pump at any location near me. The reprint receipt from the register is why they’re being rejected which is ridiculous because all of the information is on the reprint but it is formatted differently. W A S T E O F T I M E . Downgrading to 1 star because this has been more of a hassle than anything. Less than $5 a month. Done.

Works, just make sure you verify. Solid app and it does what it claims. One caveat: I had one experience with a local gas station where my claim was rejected because of a time discrepancy in claiming the offer and redeeming it. I was very confused, because I pumped my gas within minutes of claiming the offer and uploaded the receipt immediately. When upside sent the explanatory email with the photo of the receipt, it turned out that the receipt itself showed an incorrect time stamp! I had bought gas around 11 a.m. and the receipt showed the purchase was after 7p.m. I have no idea how it is even possible for a clock to be so off, if the station was somehow manipulating their own systems to change the time stamp (which I would think would be questionable, legally). I can’t explain the incident at all, I just know I was wrongly denied a claim because the thought that the time on a receipt could be wrong never occurred to me. Recording it here for others’ sake so that all users are alerted: check your receipts and make sure all information is correct, even the info you didn’t think /could/ be tampered with.

Customer service is complete garbage. I am a FedEx driver and I use this after a couple for months since I fill up my truck every single day. I was racking up some decent money when all of a sudden my cash back stopped processing. I emailed customer service and they informed me that there were duplicate accounts associated with my phone/device ID. Funny thing is I bought this phone brand new a couple of months ago right when I started my new job and I’ve never once opened a second account with this phone. Ergo, they noticed that I was actually using their app, and making some money, and decided to ban my account. I’ve never met/seen an app that actually punishes their users for using their services. When I asked customer service what other accounts were associated with my device, they kept dodging the question, and refused to give me any sort of a rational explanation. Basically in order for me to open up a new account. I have to get a new phone which obviously I’m not going to do just to use an app that gives me a couple of dollars back every single day. Download this app if you want, but just know if you ever run into issues customer service will Stonewall, you completely!

Waste of time. First time using the app and I followed the directions by “claiming” the offer before filling up, getting a receipt and taking a photo and then uploading it. All info was clearly visible and luckily I saved the photo to my phone instead of just directly uploading since the cash back was declined since the “info wasn’t visible on the receipt”. The initial purchase had some sort of first time promo so the savings were larger than normal and perhaps that’s why they wanted to reject it. I reviewed my photo and everything was clear so I reached out to customer service. The person replied (Ada) and said “You're right, this offer should have been processed. My apologies! I just resubmitted your receipt, with a note from me, and it should be processed within 10 days.” Six days later it still said processing but the cash back was less than it originally advertised when I claimed the offer. She responded asking that I give it time to process as some stations are slower than others. Over two months later and I still don’t have anything. I sent them another email but is three (perhaps more) emails really worth a few cents/dollars? Perhaps if I was an Uber driver or something I would bother with this but I really don’t have the patience to deal with this nonsense.

Disappointing. I have had this app since it first came out a few years ago. Because of it’s popularity,I believe, it has become irritating to use. Stores offer foods that are purchased by a small number of people (I.e. plant based products foods..) when there are things that most people buy, it includes some variation of flavors but not all, it rarely includes traditional sizes but save $2 on the 30pk or the Jumbo size. Sizes that people only buy in Costco or BJs, not the local grocery store. (Keep in mind the rebate then is not accepted at those stores). While trying to use the app along with my JCPENNEY account, there is a disclaimer that says things like “discount only good on full price items etc..” Now, anyone that shops at JCP or American Eagle, AND uses Ibotta - is looking to save some money, a deal, etc. And now, today I noticed that in order to submit my Dollar General receipt, I have to download another app and enter my PERSONAL information and then link that account to Ibotta, just to redeem a receipt. This is ridiculous and unnecessary. This app, with the hundreds of other apps available, is becoming more and more useless and a waste of time. Especially when it’s to claim $.10

Dishonest Pricing Tactics. Got this app through KashKick and decided to give it a shot for the quick easy buck. App seemed to work good enough and I was shocked to see a 60¢ offer for a gas station right down the street from my house so I immediately claimed. Gave it a go and everything seemed to have gone smoothly enough but when I checked my pending offers, my cash back was only clocked in for processing at 27¢? My transaction has not processed yet, but I am already stressed/frustrated at the occurrence; based on other reviews I don't believe it will adjust to the correct amount after processing. Worst of all is I didn't keep my receipt, I just figured the app would process smoothly enough. Will probably continue using the app and happy to get cash back but probably don't expect to actually get the advertised cashback it seems; it may be safe to assume based on this other reviews, you may only get 50% or lower. At least it is completely and absolutely free and I was able to add my fleet card for the company car: I will probably never use it for main/weekend car since I always fill up with Chevron and it doesn't seem like they have offers on this app (I just use the Chevron app instead)

Not good for Shell gas users…. I drive a lot for work and recently switched gas brands due to vehicle changes. I tend to use apps to purchase gas, so I never get the full discount using this app as a result, which I’m cool with; however, I find it particularly unfortunate and frustrating to receive messages informing me that I did not receive cash back because “Record of purchase not found”. Thankfully, I am meticulous with receipts because I use them for tax deductions, but I find it absurd to have to provide proof of purchase each time I get gas from Shell. I have made several attempts to communicate this with the app, but only receive automated responses that make no sense, or “staff” who tell me the same thing. I wish there was a way to speak with a real person and have them explain to them how incredibly ridiculous it is to go through this repetitive process with no one caring to adjust/correct the flaw in the system. Am I doing something wrong…is there anyone else who uses the Shell app and come across this issue?? It works fine with stations that are partnered with Shell (ex. Shell - Circle K), but that doesn’t give me the full benefits as a solely run Shell gas station, if that makes sense.

Terrible app.. This app used to be good. Used to get high rewards and paid quickly. As of recently this is the opposite. You can’t contact anyone, customer service is in a foreign country, and they never to seem to have documentation that you submit. Example I submitted a receipt and it’s been over a month. They said missing proof of purchase but I submitted a receipt with the address, establishment, date and time of purchase with the total amount. Then they want me to send a receipt for over a month agowhich I don’t hold on to since I sent it via he app. Then I sent my bank statement and they said they sent it but though a back door way without proof that it went though. They make up excuses. They own me approximately $13 as of now and I expect more issues to come. I got out of my way to get these reward. I’m done with this app. Recently they said the don’t have proof of my purchase. That’s crazy since I checked in and they have my credit card. Cash out while you can because if this keeps up I can see this app Folding and keeping your money.

Save Yourself the Disappointment. Just save yourself the disappointment and don’t use the app if you really want to earn cash back on gas. I used this app because it was recommended to me via my job. At first I was excited about the idea of earning cash back while gassing up. The first few times were great! I received my cash back on time and the math was even correct! I got my cash back and it all seemed very promising until I kept using the app. It was around my 6th or 7th gas up where I got the dreaded email “you didn’t receive cash back and here is why”. I messaged customer service and they said the reasoning could be I didn’t use the right card or maybe the offer timed out. C’mon - I’m a female millennial. We develop apps. I think I know how to accurately use some cash back app. They said I could take a screenshot to show my purchases but I found that too petty to go thru - especially since I was using two cards. Anyway, I rolled my eyes and just hoped for the best in the future gas ups. I just got the same email for my last gas up that distinctively remember doing with my husband. I’m done. It’s not reliable and it’s not worth the hassle. I’m currently downloading another gas cash back app while I write this review.

Not worth it!!. Update after second response from developer. As I stated before, I have worked with your support team. I got the cash back on most of the missing ones. However, it’s not worth it for me to have to go back and make sure I’m getting the money on everything and have to go through all the trouble I did. It still remains an app that is not worth it to me. I would not recommend it. I thank you for your responses, but this app does not work for me. My time is too valuable to be chasing the money that is supposed to be promised to me. Update after response from developer. I have spoken to your support team via email on multiple occasions, my review stands. This app is not worth it if I have to chase the money down on every transaction. This app over promises and under delivers. This app is more trouble than it’s worth. I have had to email multiple times. It’s difficult to reach them. I have used the app and then not received the money. When I go into the history, it shows expired. It’s more than difficult to try to get a hold of somebody. I’ve had to fight to get my money back on so many occasions. Six to be exact it’s not worth my hustle or my time. I don’t suggest this app or recommend it.

Never received my money. The apps cash out service is very unreliable. I attempted to enter my bank account information so that I could cash out directly into my bank account. Everything seem to be entered and submitted correctly so when I went back into the app to cash out, I clicked on the bank account option and it took me through the process of adding my bank account again. This happens several times. So I selected PayPal and entered the email for my PayPal account that was different than the email that I used to set up might get Upside account. I was waiting for several days and realized that the money had not been deposited into PayPal so when I reached out to Upside to find out what was going on, they told me that the email to my PayPal account didn’t match my regular account and the money should be deposited back into my get up site account so I can choose a different Cashout method. I made this request on May 18, 2022 and it is now May 23, 2022 and the money is still not returned to my account. So I have no cash out and the money that I’ve earned has not been returned to my get upside account for me to choose a different option soWhat’s the point in having an app that helps you earn cash back if the cashback that you earn you can’t get access to to begin with?

Frustrated..on major credit cards. I have been frustrated that this app does not accept my debit card. Every purchase made with it NEVER are recognized or qualify. Causing me to use credit card and then paying credit card out of my checking at same time. Granted this is a great way to build credit but not always idea. NOW for EVERY upload receipt.. there is always something wrong! Looks good when I submit it... then almost a week later I am informed it doesn't work.. upload receipt.. because I need to hold on to all receipts.. then they STILL don't accept it. Hate this new scan receipt process.. in beginning you were offered to chose between linking to card or submitting receipt.. then that went away.. And you could only link to card.. this is probably why it went away! If not it needs to because of this. I have earned $67 in 2 YEARS! Yes 2 YEARS NEVER CASHED OUT! It is also the worst app to use with Uber/door dash.. because locations are not always available and they don't always accept the receipt! So you do NOT get credit or discount for it. Rip off for a company to TRY and use this as employee perk! A lot of restrictions..and catches. Good luck!

Slowwwww!. This is a great app but…it’s so slow in loading and responding! I sometimes will wait for a whole minute before it loads local stations that participate in their program. And then if I want to click on something, the delay in response is so significant, that I’ll try to “Re-click”. Which end up messing something up and I’ll have to darn near start over. Which is a headache all in itself. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve clicked on the wrong station and missed a discount because of the delay. And then if you have to close out the app suddenly, you will not be able to pick up where you left off. You’ll have to go thru it all again… I’d give it 5 stars if this got addressed. I’m a trucker and with the price of fuel these days, it’s a valuable tool. I’ve saved over $200 so far since late January and that’s just in the cash back. I aggressively shop around for the best fuel prices so that $200 is gravy on top of the $$$$ I’ve saved from searching around. Hopefully this gets addressed soon! It’s a great tool!

It’s saving me money. Not a fortune, but it’s helpful.. It’s saving me money. Not a fortune, but it’s helpful. Been using for 4 years now, for gas only, and I’ve acculturated less than $250. Typically I earn about 6 cents per gallon for gas (x 13gal per purchase), so it’s less than $1.00 per fill-up. Amount of discount varies from 1 cent to as much as 11 cents in my experience (your mileage may vary). But using GetUpside disciplines me to seek out the best bargains, which I compare to the other commercially available rates at non-participating stations. I’ve become more conscious of gas prices. There are usually only three gas stations in my area that I use regularly, and I go back to these locations based on my proximity and the price that day. I don’t travel much anymore, but when I do, the app is great for gas stations along my route. The app allows me to either manually scan & upload a paper receipt or—more increasingly—to automatically (and more conveniently) check in when I’m at the station. I don’t use the app for grocery shopping, restaurants, or purchases at gas station convenience stores.

Great when not dealing with customer service. I would’ve gave this app a 5 star because initially its great! I drive regularly for my job and received an $89 gift card to Lowe’s after about 5-6 months of getting gas with the app. I decided to wait until after I tried getting another gift card if the app would actually pan out. I got flagged for using gift cards as a method of payment, which increases the number of cards on your account. So I had to deal with customer service.... One of the worst customer service technicians I have ever dealt with. I emailed to figure out a way to unlock my account so he sent me what I could do and provide his with the last card I used and where I used it. Upon receipt of my email, I received another with instruction to do the same with the last 3 cards I’ve used. Seems like they just wanted me to jump through hoops and will drag out the process to renew my account. Very unprofessional, Would’ve liked to know every thing I needed to do in the first email. There are other gas reward apps out there that I will try. Use my experience to learn. Try everything in your power not to deal with customer service and you should be fine.

I believe this App is another scam that don’t truly give nothing back. So when I 1st used this app, I purchased gas then submitted my receipt with all matching information as the app requested. In 5 days or way less the app posted a $3 credit available. So I used their service again and went to this Restaurant name Slapfish in Layton Utah. Never been there, so I decided to try them out. The had the best Fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. After 10 days no credit received, then it said expired. Ok, fine no big. I decided let’s go to chevron again and used the app for gas. As a matter a fact I even added a different card and went back to Slapfish restaurant. It’s been over 10 days for chevron and over 5 days for Slapfish, still have not received my Credit. THIS APP IS ANOTHER SCAM THAT JUST PRETEND THAT’LL GIVE YOU CREDIT, JUST SO IT CAN GATHER YOUR INFO AND SELL IT TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER. Every time you think there might be something good, turn around, just another scammer. To make matters worse, they so danm good at advertising their scamm, NBC 7 am Morning News even brought it up as a way to help save a little money like just about 2 weeks ago, if not just last week. They got the news giving them good report to help smooth their way to their scamming lifestyle.

It’s a startup!. So first, I travel a lot for work and my job pays for my gas. If I can get cash back while on the job, that’s great. When I first used the app it seemed confusing at first but then, over time, I became familiar with the setup. I have experienced a few set backs where I didn’t get money back. It was frustrating at first. BUT, every time I emailed the help center with my issues; they would then resolve them within that week! All you have to do is keep the gas station receipt and send them a copy. The biggest issue I have had was when I got a new phone. I got booted from my account and when I went back to login, somehow it created a new account with the same email. AGAIN, my issue was resolved that week after emailing the help center. My costumer rep was Ada. Ada was very nice, genuine, helpful, and caring! 10 out of 10 for their costumer service. Lastly, some of the bad reviews I have seen could have been mitigated by reviewing terms and policy as well as the small notations on the apps different pages.

Scam app won’t allow cash out, do not use google to login. I registered for this app using my google account. That was one of the options listed to create an account. Doing it through google means I have some weird gibberish email address for this app, I think to prevent future spam. I used this app to earn a rebate and have like $7 to cash out. I went to do it and the only option listed is for PayPal, but it auto fills the email field for linking a PayPal account with that gibberish google email, and will not let me edit it to my real email for which I have a PayPal account. I cannot change the email I have under my account info for upside, because the app won’t let you. I talked to help about this situation and they said that because I used google, the only option to cash out is PayPal, and I cannot change my email to make that work. So I was encouraged to register a new account using a different method, but I would have to abandon the money I already earned in this account, and there is just no way to get the money now. So certainly do not use google to register an account here, but probably just avoid this app altogether because they have not really thought these things through, and are apparently totally unwilling to do anything to fix problems they caused.

Always good surprises. Overall works well, I haven’t had any issues (besides needing to use a card that’s listed in the virtual wallet- but I once even added the card after making my purchase and got credit for it!) and I’m even giving them “extra” credit because of something that happened yesterday! I had a 40-cent bonus cash back offer activated that I wanted to use, so I activated an offer at a gas station and checked in and… nothing- the gas wouldn’t pump! That’s when I realized the station was closed for Memorial Day (yeah, I know it’s strange, let’s not get started on that). So I went back into the app, found another gas station, claimed that offer, and expected that I’d lose the bonus offer and/or have to fight for it and hear something back like “Well, it’s not our fault that you pumped 0.00 gallons with that offer!”… But I got it automatically! It appears that the worst that will happen is my app will display a message about there being no proof of my purchase at the first gas station.

Not good.. I’d claim an offer at a gas station half my debit cards registered on the application aunt I checked in but the application never give me the option to upload the receipt so I’ve got disappointed and just let it go . Then a few days later I got an email saying that I never uploaded the receipt and I explained to them that I never got that option on the app so I sent them by email my bank transaction and the last 4 digits of the card as they asked because I had already thrown the receipt away. So even though I sent what they ask for they keep emailing me saying that I have not earned the rewards even though my bank transaction shows the address of the gas station in which I made the purchase and this transaction also shows what I bought which was gasoline it shows the date and the time and the last four digits of my debit card and they keep telling me that there is no record so to me this is fake it happened two times already so I am not asking them to pay the rewards I had earned I’m just asking them to stop email ing me I’m not using the application anymore there is like $eight 90 cents that I earned before and I’m just going to let them go I’m not even cashing them out they can keep them.

Useful, but App needs work. I have gotten a lot of money back using this App, so I not complaining about that! The program works, and it’s an awesome concept that works for consumers and businesses. I have used this App for over 3 years, exclusively for fuel. Perhaps if other deals interest me, I may explore them in the future. The App needs work. It is slow to load, if you have a poor data connection, it may fail all together, even when other apps are still connected. It seems like maybe it’s using too much bandwidth and/or processing power. If a gas station requires you to “check in” rather than upload a receipt, there is no way to cancel your check-in once you’ve selected it. For example, my connection was poor last week at a particular station and the app was a little laggy. I must have accidentally touched the screen while it was loading because it checked me in with a card registered with my accounts but I didn’t have with me. I couldn’t cancel the check-in and had to claim the offer again and use a different card. Luckily, the offer was still available. A few tweaks and this app would be a lot better.

Not so great. Downloaded the app because my co-worker recommended since we drive the company vehicles. First time they give you an extra 15 cents so my cash back was 30 cents. After that it go back to the regular like from 1 cent to 15 cents, and the gas price at the gas stations are never the same as advertised on the app. No problems since we drive the company vehicles. Then the problem was they ask you to enter the first 6 and last 4 of your credit card on the app and then you don’t have to submit the receipt and when I checked in at the gas station it didn’t give me the option to scan in the receipt. So 10 days later ( the maximum time to process your claim) they emailed me said they can’t give me the cash back because they can’t find the transaction. After using this app for 6 months now. Wish the app would just let people upload their receipts instead because almost every gas station so far except for Marathon, would process 10 days and email you they can’t find the record. So you would have to email them the receipt. Make sure keep a record of your receipt.

Scam, Poor Customer Service. GetUpside used to be great however, recently they have changed many aspects of their service including no longer sending physical checks. When I signed up, I accidentally missed one number in my email and GetUpside states they cannot change my email and I cannot cash out my $50 because of this. I used to get a physical check but now when you cash out, you must verify by your email which I cannot do because they cannot change my email to the correct email. I was told to make a new account and ask them to transfer the money from my old account to my new account however, I have completed 10 offers on my new account and not even a single one of my offers have been paid out and they all still say pending a month later. I reached out to customer service and I do not receive any responses, they just close the conversation and it shows “Ticket closed” with no response and I have sent them 4 messages now. Between not paying out, all the changes made and not being able to reach customer service at all, this has just become an easy scam for them to take your money and not pay out. Used to be great and used to work great but definitely not the same it used to be now.

Terrible customer service. The app works however it wants and they can process orders for however long they want. I worked to earn a $.50/gallon offer by eating at 3 restaurants. I was out of gas but was waiting on the offer to clear and show I was getting my $.50 off per gallon extra so I used the app (again, it didn’t show I was getting the extra off), and got a few gallons of gas to hold me over until I could use my bonus. It took 4 days for that gas to clear and it happened to clear a full day after I received my bonus amount off and yet it applied the discount to my 4 gallons since that cleared first after my bonus was activated (again, I got the gas 4 days before my bonus even cleared, it just took that long for them process it so I got my $.50/gallon off on 4 gallons instead of the fill-up I was waiting to use). They “can’t” do anything about it. In today’s technological age, they can do whatever they want, they just won’t. Nowhere does it say this is how it works so be careful when you earn bonuses as you may lose it all and they won’t fix it. They will, however, make excuses. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

Won’t honor cash back amounts. *response to developer reply* I’m not going to bother reaching out because I’ve already spent weeks dealing with you’re incredibly unhelpful customer service. They’ve already told me that “what caused it” was a glitch on your side (not my fault or problem, but I was still the one punished & not given the cash back) if you were truly sorry, you would have just given me the cash back I claimed & showed proof on… I claimed a gas offer weeks ago for .15/gallon & was notified that my claim was denied. The notice said “there wasn’t an offer at this location” so I replied with screenshots showing the offer & my receipt to prove that there was indeed an offer at that location. Upside replied advising me that their system had glitched & that they could offer me .01/gal & a .05 bonus on my next claim. I replied saying it wasn’t my fault their system glitched, that location was still showing the offer as well. They did nothing to rectify their error. I claimed another offer two days ago for .17/gallon thinking I would try again since I supposedly had the .05/gal bonus. Got my cash back today at .10/gal. They don’t stick to their claims & don’t honor the cash back they advertise. Waste of time!

This delivery driver gives it two thumbs up!. I’m a delivery driver, so you can imagine I go through quite a lot of gas, sometimes filling my tank from empty a couple times a week. With gas being so expensive, it’s awesome that I can earn a few bucks back here and there. Perfect for drivers who spend a lot on gas for high commutes and delivery drivers who don’t want to spend all their hard earned money on gas. I heard a commercial for this app on the radio one day while on a delivery and I downloaded and used it for every fill up after that. I ran into an issue where there was another gas station added on top of the gas station I was already frequently using and couldn’t figure out why it was rejecting my receipt, their customer service was top notch and they even gave me the money I had missed out on. I would love to continue to use their services but I’m moving to an area where the gas stations have not yet joined the GetUpside action, but when they do, I will be sure to use their services as loyalty as I have in the past.

Great but with some issues. I have been using Upside for almost 2 years and have enjoyed the benefits. I have repeatedly run into issues with receipt uploading where the app won’t attach multiple images from a long receipt. This creates delays and requires reaching out to customer service. The most recent issue was the most frustrating as I had resubmitted my receipt multiple times with no response from customer service as to the correction in error. During this time I was racing the clock on promotional bonus money for grocery trips. I had already had an app failure (not user error) check-in error the previous week which was denied credit both for cash back % and promotional credit. It is disappointing to lose out on getting credit for a promotion when because of these errors I had to make additional shopping trips to meet the criteria and then still don’t get credit. This isn’t the first time I have had issues uploading receipts for grocery stores. There never seems to be an issue with checking in at gas stations or uploading gas station receipts.

Wanted to love it. Theoretically this is a great app but I’m disappointed in That the gas prices listed within the app while looking for a gas station is never the same when I get to the actual gas station. The prices at the actual gas station are higher, sometimes much, then what the app says. And when the cashback is only $.01-$.03 it doesn’t even make sense to go to that gas station because I can go to a different one and get gas for a cheaper price without the cash back. To me that defeats the purpose. I’m not trying to spend more on gas just to get a gift card with my “savings” when it’s actually not a savings if I can go across the street and get a better price without using the cash back. For instance today the gas price listed in the app was 2.41 with .04 cash back because of the July bump. So it would originally just be one cent. But when I arrived at the gas station, the gas was actually 2.60. So with the cash back it goes down to 2.56. The gas station next-door was 2.43. So I still would’ve been better off going to the gas station next-door. Also please ask van the list of gas stations included. A lot of times I have to go out of my way to get to a participating gas station.

Horrible app. I have been using this app since February 2022 at first it was working great I would select a gas station click on the claim get my fuel and wait for the money to go into my account as I started getting towards $100 I started getting error messages saying that my card was not on file or when I had to take a picture of my receipt it was saying that I was missing information on it like the address of the gas station or the date and time normally I would get my cash within two or three days now I have to wait almost a month so he can give me the error message saying that my card is not on file when that happens I have to contact customer service which is a hassle because there is no phone number to contact them. you have to go through the self-help on the website then you have to try to get a hold of a live agent, which is nearly impossible. Then I have to submit my usually customer service gives me the money that is owed to me but every time I make a claim it gives me the error message saying that card is not on file it has just become a big headache probably will not use this app anymore I would not recommend this app to anyone

Short changes, refuses to cash out. As others have mentioned, the app will offer things like “50 cents off a gallon,” but they’ll only give you like 10 cent off, IF you even earn anything back. In my experience, I only get anything back about 40-50% of the time. It’s very inconsistent. Not only that, but I’ve tried literally dozens of times to cash out to my bank account. It sends me an email and a link to click, I click it, aaaaaand….. nothing. I got it to work one time on a $12 gift card for Walmart. I have more money to redeem, so I tried to get another Walmart card. It refuses to cash out. I updated it, waited a few days and tried it again… nothing. I’ll keep this app for another couple tries, but if it refuses to cash out for the ONLY store I can go to, or won’t even send to my bank account, what’s the point?? I really don’t appreciate being lied to about cents/gallon earned back, either. 50 cents off is a ton, but they never deliver on that promise, at least not for me. Just be honest from the beginning, if it’s gonna be only 10 cents then say so. I HATE feeling lied to. 3 stars cause that one $12 gift card I got helped me during a hard time.

Not enough Gas Stations. Seriously they do need to absolutely add more gas stations. Not every single town I go to for gas has a circle freaking K.. have any of you ever heard of Thorton‘s, love’s, BP? Or just about any other gas station that is along I -70 a major interstate by the way? Also Moto mart. That’s a pretty popular gas station in Illinois and I can’t tell you how much money I have lost not being able to use this app at Moto Mart‘s along I-57 and I-64.. quite often I’ll go from the metro East St. Louis Missouri area to Louisville, KY or Evansville, IN and back and they pretty much only have Moto Mart and Thornton’s.. and in 3 years I probably would have already made $1000 in cash back from the amount of times I’ve had to fuel up at any of the gas stations I frequent in my work vans..Speaking of work vehicles is there an option for diesel?? Once in a while I will run a box truck from St. Louis to Indianapolis and I would absolutely love to get the $150 worth of credit however much it would transfer to $.25 a gallon & some 100 gallons of diesel fuel, and possibly DEF cash back.. that box truck is 24 feet by the way, big enough that I would make bank in this app.

Not Applying Correctly. This app has several issues. I’ll claim an offer for 17 cents for example and then once it’s done processing a few days later it says the cash back wasn’t the same as the day I got gas. So if it was 17 cents that day, when it finally processes it only gives me 2 or 3 cents back instead of what it originally said and there is no way to file a dispute. ALSO, I work through doordash which is why I even downloaded this at all bc they gave us a promo that should give us an extra 20 cents off on top of whatever the app already gives off and it’s not applying. I got gas yesterday for 17 cents off, 7.74 gallons of gas. With the promo that’s 37 cents off so I should’ve gotten $2.86 back but it didn’t apply the promo and I only got back the 17 cents for $1.32. There is no customer service just a bot that can’t answer these kinds of questions. I use this app EVERY time I get gas and it’s honestly not worth it if it’s not going to give me my correct cash back. $1 here and there isn’t worth it. I signed up BECAUSE of the doordash promo and it’s not even applying. Until they fix these bugs, I wouldn’t recommend this app. You have to go out of your way to get the discounts and they don’t even correctly discount so it’s not worth the effort.

Can’t seem to get it right! 😡. This app would be great if it would pay you for what it says it will. For example, I have Premium Gas listed in your profile, but when the payment comes through for my receipt that has PREMIUM GAS listed on it, they pay me for Diesel Gas which is a significantly cheaper payout. Then, when I have to email them regarding the error, it takes them upwards of a week to a week and a half to get back with me to fix the issue only to say that they are still ‘working out the bugs in their system’. This has happened to me time and time again... I currently have an open ticket with them from the 16th that they haven’t responded to and need to reach out to them again for my purchase yesterday that was paid out incorrectly as well. It’s a waste of my time for a few dollars... truly not worth it!!! ***Edit*** Received developers response and went into my account hoping that my ticket that was in there was taken care of, however... it’s not. So...yes, it is an inconvenience when you don’t do what you can to make it right.

Shady practices. I would not trust with my bank info.. The account deletion process is intentionally obscure, maddeningly slow, and obnoxiously self-righteous about “protecting” your data. They have a nearly-secret deletion process, which you will need to google to discover how to begin, and then give you three days to respond to an email they take two weeks to send you, hoping, I guess, that you will quit checking for it. Then you need to re-enter your login info in a second process, only to be greeted by the message “try again later,” though by communicating with you by your email of record, they’ve already established who you are and what you want to do. This is intentionally overly complicated to make you give up. It would be entirely acceptable to handle this process the same way they do a password reset. Click delete account, receive confirmation email, click confirm, done in 30 seconds. Instead they act like they are doing you a favor. I first wanted to delete my account because the gas prices reported in the app are 30¢ higher than posted at the real life gas station, so an 11¢ “savings” is hardly helpful. Now I additionally wouldn’t use the app because of this shifty process. Jumping back into the account deletion loop. Wish me luck.

It was nice… until it wasn’t. I would have rated it 5 stars a month ago. But, for the past few weeks, it’s just a white screen with the word “upside” on it. That’s it. I’ve shut down my phone and turned it on. I’ve closed out the app. I’ve updated the app. The only thing I haven’t tried is deleting it and reinstalling. I don’t want to do that for fear of losing all I’ve earned. I knew I should have cashed out. Since the app won’t go past the white screen with “upside” on it, I can’t even email for help from the app - because it won’t open. Right now it’s useless. I let it sit for about 12 minutes while I was driving - kept the phone unlocked - it still wouldn’t go past that screen. Before that, it would log me out each time. Not really convenient when you’re on the go and heading to get gas and don’t remember what you used to log in. I haven’t been able to use the app the last few times I got gas. I don’t know if this is something affecting several people or what. But, if I can’t open the app, I’ll eventually just delete it. Though, it was the only one I used.

Inconsistent scam. After 2 years, I’ve just come to not trust it, I don’t recommend it to anyone anymore. You’re better off just going to the wholesale clubs for gas, you’ll actually pay less upfront than this app gives back. the app constantly shows closed locations, wrong prices, and deceptive “cash back”, offers (15 cents per gallon, but only pays 11 cents days later) I’ve been using the app for a year or so with mixed results, in the first year it was pretty ok, but lately I have more trips with problems than not. Yes I’ve gotten cash back, but I’ve also driven a couple miles out of my way to redeem a higher offer, only to find the gas station price didn’t match the app, the station was closed permanently, or surprise surprise they can’t my transaction, well AMEX found it, it’s on my statement. That one is my favorite, they claim my card use can’t be found, so they won’t pay me, despite having a receipt. Customer support is worse than Comcast, they don’t respond period. There is no recourse it seems to dispute, and for that reason I won’t recommend it anymore. They should have payed out close to $75 more than they have, and I’ve spent a couple hours over the years chasing offers that didn’t really exist.

Great experience with one warning. I don’t really know what Upside is getting out of this deal (probably selling my data), but I’ve gotten $19 back and transferred to my PayPal in the last 60 days. I’m already buying that gas, so it’s nice to think that this app will pretty much offset my Netflix bill. IMPORTANT: once you add a card, use that physical card and do not use Apple Pay/Wallet. When you scan your phone, even for the same card you use with Upside, the iPhone creates a virtual card for point of sale use as a security measure, which is great, but then the card numbers don’t match up and you don’t get your cash back. I missed out on probably $10 this way. I couldn’t figure out why a string of purchases weren’t processing and getting approved for cash back. I googled around and figured it out. Now I use the physical card to pay and I get the case back each time. Haven’t tried any of the restaurant deals yet but I’m sure it’s just as good as the gas stations.

Scam. Tried it for a good month , the first time was great was easy to use told me I got a certain percent cash back to entice you to use it . It’s not acurate for the most part so it will tell you the price and be complete off some times so always double check to make sure your paying what you think your paying . Has you link your bank account to cash out directly but every time you get the confirmation link it sends you to their main website and request you open it on mobile phone only .Doesn’t seam to work so your forced into trying to get a gift card . Even when you do everything right claim the offer, fuel up , click the i paid option after to finish the transaction after my very first fill up they would all just say processing and then if it doesn’t go through after 10 days it will not count them so not only does it influence you to go to what gas station for the “cheaper option” but it also then doesn’t give you the cash back so now you end up paying more because it promises you 20cents or what ever cash back per gallon and now because it was processing for 10 days it doesn’t qualify . Horrible app , horrible customer support not worth the hassle

Doesn’t give you all your money back. I checked in at a $0.28 a gallon back gas station yesterday and today it gave me $0.21 a gallon back for yesterdays purchase. Don’t advertise higher amounts if you’re going to steal money back. I won’t be referring anyone to this app, you’ll probably take half of the penny you promise per gallon on that too. I’ve also noticed it’s not even saving you money, all the stations with “incentives” are the ones that jacked their prices up…oh you guessed it, about $0.20 higher than the other places. Lame app Edit* since I wrote this review, I’ve filled up 34 gallons and 35 gallons of diesel, checked in, everything, one expired and the other said I didn’t go to a station with cash back. I guess if you put 2 gallons in your tank you can get your $0.10 back, but when they have to give back actual money they won’t. The fine print says it goes up to 50 gallons, I went to 34. Give me my money, TRASH APP! it also isn’t actual money back, that’s why you can’t go to any station, the only ones on the app are the ones who raise their prices, you think you’re getting a deal, while the station down the road is actually $0.09 cheaper, you just don’t get to turn that $3 into a Starbucks gift card.

Terrible experience and no customer service. I was referred to the app from a friend. When I opened the app for the first time, I was traveling on an Interstate. I had multiple choices of which station to use. The app was showing that the largest refund offer available was a 76 station a few miles away. It was the only station within miles and miles that was a 76. I checked in and filled up but this was an offer that had to be manually uploaded. I did. It took 15 days for the response to say “you went to the wrong one”, which is untrue. The station was a small, country station and their pump receipt showed the date and time but they didn’t have it configured with the address. I have reuploaded the receipt and tried to ask for help via email 4 times now and I do jot get a response except for a Bot response suggesting I try things that wouldn’t fix it. I’m done trying. I’m deleting it unless a human responds to my inquiry and fixes it. I want my $9! ***update*** I received a response from you saying you’d take another look. Just email you. I have traded about 6 emails with you and the issue still isn’t resolved. Each time o have a response it’s either a Bot or a person has looked up the data and provided a different answer than before. STILL NOT RESOLVED!!!
