Needs work.... The app is great for the purpose of knowing time frames for shooting during the golden or blue hours, but the Weather feature needs more work. I've tested it against my subscription with Skyfire and found significant discrepancies. So far GoldenHour predicted great light and sky on two different sunrises that were both flat wrong. This morning in particular, it predicted sky to be a 10, when in fact the sky barely had any color at all. That said, I still believe the app to be useful and hope the developers are able to improve upon its weather feature as the app matures. I know it's possible to get more accurate predictions of sky conditions because SkyFire has proven itself to be a more accurate predictor. This app is on its way to being a 5 star app, buts it's not there yet. User interface is well designed. Expect this app will get even better with time.

Great design. It's simple, easy to use and it does what it says. I like that it has an explanation golden hour, blue hour and sky indexes (under 'more' category). There are some good features on the bottom of the screen, the 'clock' and 'map' being useful.

Gorgeous iPhone photos. As an artist and gardener, I have been trained to look for chiaroscuro-the dramatic effect of light next to dark. This app takes the effort out of that as because it effectively provides the hour when it is happening. So, in looking for the light the beauty reveals itself. Thank you to Golden Hours creators. This is a really cool app.

Best app for foto. Very good

I love this app!. This app has proved itself to be very useful. I've lost count of how often I have wasted my time and energy to get to a location to shoot a sunrise or sunset only to be let down by a boring sky. This app won't guarantee you a great shot, but it will greatly improve your odds. I highly recommend. My only question is: how do you generate revenue, with no IAPs and no ads? Update: lowering my review. Too many times I’ve left my camera at home because this app said “forget it. Overcast” only to find stunning clouds filling the sky. My window would be a better predictor if there wasn’t a giant tree in front of it.

Simply Amazing:. I really appreciate this app, no more guessing. My photography look so much more like the high end photos in magazines. This app is a great way to get the best photos. It is a keeper for me.

Excellent. Extremely fast, brilliant design, easy to use, wonderful user interface. It is truly my "go to" app for sunrise and sunset photography now.

Helpful but needs more explanation. This is a well organized and well designed app that shows an array of helpful information for the photographer. However, it makes assumptions that the user would already know how to make the most of its features when it should take the approach of trying to help the user as best it can. For example, the joyride explains the sky and light indices however there is no resource for the user to remind themselves of what those features mean outside of the joyride. Secondarily, the scoring system is not defined—how am I, the user, to interpret a sky index of 8 versus 6, for instance? Furthermore, its additional features are again not defined. What is the target on the map? Why is it positioned where it is? Am I to go there for the best possible photo? Best photo according to what metric? The developer would also do well to ask themselves how they can best set the user up for success. What are the definitions of the terms within the app? How am I, the user, to compare one index to another? How can I best use the map to my advantage? What can I look for in the weather integration to maximize my success? Overall, this app is a well-designed start to a truly useful app. But to get there it needs to consider the user in addition to just providing data for data’s sake.

Very nice. Very useful!!!

User friendly & Great customer service. Just got this and seems pretty user-friendly. Excited to test it out of my next session for accuracy. I had some issues with it when I first bought it with it crashing. Their support figured it out and released an updated in a matter of a day. Impressed by their customer service. 🙌🏻

Nice app. It is a good app for helping plan photoshoots. I do recommend you try it and see if it is for you!

Excellent app. Love this app.

Beautiful and useful. Beautiful UI. The "sunset" and "light" index forecasts are very useful and unique. Better ability to juggle multiple locations than other similar apps I've used (mostly they would only give you magic hour times for your current location--useless if you're on the move.) Best app of its category that I've used so far, worth the tiny price.

Love it!. Great for planning a model or sunset shoot. Saves travel and research time.

So buggy on iPhone X. It’s almost not usable at all, it doesn’t score right there’s huge black bars of the top in the bottom, it’s super frustrating. Definitely not worth four dollars. If I could get my money back I would.

Extremely useful. This app not only tells you when the golden hours occur daily but what you can expect according to local weather conditions. I have found it to be very accurate and extremely useful.

Excellent app! Easy to read & accurate.. Excellent app! Easy to read & accurate.

Good little app. I haven’t tried the weather portion of the app, but for looking up the golden hour based on location it works fine for me. I am not a professional photographer, but when I travel I like to use it try to get a better shot than I might have normally.

So helpful!. A great interface with all the features you want and none you don't.

Awesome. This is the first time I have ever written a review for an app. Awesome, I don't know what else to write

Meh. Middle of the road.... Clock works great. Displaying Blue Hour and Golden Hour is great. The map function and setting locations is fantastic. The weather portion of the app? Not so much. I live in Colorado; more specifically, high sierra landscape and mountain views persist all around. Because of our unique location we get MANY high pressure systems with clouds ranging from trace to copious. Yet, as I marvel at the high cloud accumulation, and dial up the weather portion of this app-it leaves me wondering where they get the info from. I've traveled 3 hours based upon forecasts this app has put out only to be left frustrated. I wanted to trust it and not the weather service or Dark Skies. No can do. Been duped by it three times and won't do it again. Missed many opportunities to take some great shots. Went expecting great shots only to be exposed to open skies with no cloud cover. The developer sells this based on 100% functionality. All aspects. No can do. Either remove the weather portion or improve it and I'll rewrite the review. I want this to be my one and only "go to" app. As of this review, it's one of five frustrating tools I have to use to extrapolate.

Nice but. Not a bad app. Good idea, nice interface, but the date is wrong. It keeps insisting that the current date is one day behind. I can set the date I want to use, but how could it be so wrong? My phone has the correct date, do something is wrong with this app.

A new favorite.. This is a really great aid for photographers. There are some that are in the App Store that are far to complex. This app is simple and easy to use. It gives the golden hour windows as well as blue hour. What makes it special are the light indexes , weather and the map The one thing it lacks or perhaps could not find was the ability to change the map to satellite or hybrid at least as it helps with lighting to known the terrain

Want to use it, but it crashes. Hey, I like the idea of this app, I liked what I could see of it, I don't like the constant crashing on my iphone 6... hey guys fix this fast.

Needs update.. I have an iPhone X. Please update for compatibility.

Simple. Just what I need without the junk.

Great app!. This is a great app and pretty accurate as well. **One issue is that it hides the scores for the events (sunrise, sunset, etc) after the event has taken place. There is -no- reason to do so, and you may want to see how an event was rated after the fact.

Seems good but..... .....the date being off by a day adds confusion and uncertainty.

Very helpful. A few issues at first, but they've since been fixed, and the app works great.

Sunrise?. Just got this and one thing I immediately noticed was a sunrise after 8:30 pm lol. That needs to be changed to sunset. Sunrise is morning! All the details available in this app are awesome!

Useful app!. This app has been very helpful in anticipating ideal conditions for shooting. The screens are thoughtfully designed, simple to understand, and fun to use.

FIXED (Crashes every single time) - REVIEW UPDATE. Here’s the update! Developers contacted me and had me enable notifications, which allowed the app to open. They also informed me they’re working on a proper fix. So happy I can use the app again! I used to love it, but now this app won’t open for me at all. Running iOS 13.4.1 on a XS. PLEASE FIX IT!!

Perfect Little App!. I’ve been using Golden Hour for YEARS and it has always been flawless. It’s completely accurate, it loads and displays fast, and it shows you what you want to know CLEARLY. It’s a simple app, but it’s super useful and it has never been buggy. It’s honestly one of my favorite icons on my Home Screen. I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want this app. Nice to have a perfect app once in a while.

Great interface. But it is about an hour off the actual golden hour. Which may be updated soon

Great photo tool!. Very nice interface - best app of its kind

Fun!. Fun.

Very good. Great app. I’d give it 5 Stars, but I just wish they had a bit more in-depth user instructions/icon descriptors. Identifying the golden hour is excellent, though!

Nifty Little App. Super useful, great interface and easy to use. Highly recommend.

Awesome, easy to read predictions. I was hesitant to purchase this because I already have PhotoPills. I'm glad I ended up buying. While I still use photopills for golden hour times using the easy to access widget, I now use GoldenHour for easy to read and understand predictions for cloud cover and light quality during golden hour, something photopills lacks. I also find the map tool easier to use in golden hour vs photopills. Well worth the money if you photograph outdoors. Impressive work by the developer. One thing I would like to see in the future is a widget.

Most user-friendly golden hour calculator I've used. Not only does this app give you clearly visualized golden (and blue) hour calculations, but it combines them with photography-specific weather forecasts. Similar services either require subscription and/or are not as easy to use.

Money grab. Paid for this app when it was new, now it wants me to pay a monthly subscription for increased accuracy. Nope. I’ll use a competitor.

Extremely handy for photographers.. Great app for photographers, fast and simple to use.

Reminders. The reminders have to be set everyday. The app is not programmed to have the reminders automatically remind you everyday, you literally have to log into the app and scroll to each individual day.

Internet required. I pull this app out most often while in the wilderness, and it doesn't work there because it requires internet. This app is basically one large math equation that should be able to run on the iPhone. Even a slightly less accurate "offline mode" would be better than it's current broken form.

Just makes up numbers. It must randomly make up scores for sunrise and sunset. Dumb.

A+. Been looking for an app like this. Love it. Would like push notifications when sky index is going to be X.

This is good okay. This is good okay

Not actually included in the bundle purchase. Replying to the Dev: So … when I paid for the bundle, which included this app, I got the free version of this app not the full version! I’m pretty sure that’s what I said. That’s up to you, but it’s not what I expected when buying the “bundle”. ===[ original review ]=== I bought the bundle of three apps, which included this one, but it’s still asking me to upgrade. That’s up to the dev I guess, but it’s a bit confusing to include it in a bundle purchase if the purchase doesn’t apply to all apps in that bundle.

GoldenHour.One. Great app, very easy to use and very practical

Good idea but a few fixes needed. There was a quite a few things that needed fixes but the App maker seems responsive so I’m sure it will continue to improve. I like the clock graphic it’s very simple & clear & the app is simpler than having to google golden hour and now switching between 24hr & am/pm works. But the GUI needs work. There are a few design mistakes. Mostly about stuff crammed together & not giving breathing space around elements. The icons at the bottom almost touch the top & bottom of their section Light index is so close to the bottom you think there is more information below that makes you want to scroll down The date almost touches the bottom of the clock, it could be put in the clock like a watch face to save space on the page I don’t know if it uses the system font settings but the fonts are too big The welcome introduction the font is soo big that it goes past the bottom of the screen so I can’t read what it says (I haven’t seen the welcome screen again so not sure if it’s fixed) I teach iPhone photography so I’m keen to keep an eye on this app for students ——————— Things below have now been corrected Good to see app makers who keep improving & don’t just dump an app & take your money :) that’s why I now give it 4 stars ———————— Fixed: I tried turning the 24hr dial off in settings & it made no difference. Works now Fixed: this is such a basic mistake that’s been overlooked the main point of the app is knowing when sunrise and sunset is. But at the bottom of the screen when you click the icon for sunrise or sunset, the title below golden hour & blue hour says sunrise for both it should change to sunset, so I got really confused that it was saying that sunrise was at 16:57 ??? Displays correctly now Fixed: No information on how to use maps. What are the lines on the map. What do they mean & how do I use them? There is a question mark icon with an explanation now

Love this app but some UI issues. I love this app and I'm so happy I found it but the UI especially on the first page (Clock) under 'Light Index' is too squashed. I keep swiping up thinking there is more to see below. I recommend reducing the size of the clock a little and adding some more padding below 'Light Index'. Aside from that this is one of my favourite apps.

Good app. Would be great though if it would also show the sun and moon path in relation to your position.

The golden hour app that gets the balance right. I own quite a few of these apps, but this is the one I find myself using all the time. Good balance of ease of use, features, and functions.

Used to be good. This app used to be a great app to quickly check the predictions for sunrise and sunset and give you a fair bit of detail but after the recent update the Dark Sky thing has been introduced and the more detailed sunrise/set has gone. E.g. used to be weak high clouds instead of just cloudy. Really disappointed with the update. Just making users pay more for the Dark Sky features.

Always incorrect about cloud data. I have set alarms to be up for what should be an amazing photo according to this app but once you get outside the sky is clear with no clouds. Besides that it’s other features are good not that you need them other than the clock. Disappointed I purchased the full version tbh.

Does what it says and does it well. Glad for a niche app like this to be so well designed and such a pleasure to use.

Accurate and well designed. Super impressed! Used this for a shoot recently, and the sun set exactly when and where it said it would. Haven't had a chance to really check how accurate the indexes are, but the map portion with the color overlay is awesome. I have a couple ideas for possible future updates though! For at-home location scouting purposes, I'd love to see a street view component somehow worked in, with a slider overlaying where the sun would be at any given point. It would be a game changer. Also more weather details for a particular location (P.O.P., general forecast) to go along with the basic index would be helpful to eliminate checking a weather app. Eventually expanding this app to show where the sun will be throughout the day, not just golden hour, would make this a total Sunseeker replacement!

iOS 13 - Constant Crashes. Well, it was good but no fix for the constant crashes in iOS 13. The app will not even open.

Merveilleux!. Très utile pour planifier mes sorties photos. Prévisions la plupart du temps justes.

Bug fix The application in some countries (e.g. the Netherlands) could not load data from OpenMeteo correctly. This was very annoying as it affected premium mode users. In cooperation with one user I have removed the error.
