Player needs serious updating. Watching on my computer is just pathetic. My wifi connection is fine but it will buffer then skip about fifteen seconds at a time. It takes an hour to watch a 20 minute episode and I also miss out on planet of details with how much it skips. So I figured I’d get the app to see if it’s better. While it is a bit better it’s still very outdated compared to other apps. I can’t watch it in a small window while I open another app like pretty much everything else. I also have to turn the subtitles on again every time I open the app again. I have poor hearing and watch everything with the subtitles (unless they don’t match up correctly). Every other streaming app remembers that I use subtitles and I don’t have to keep turning them back on. Also it seems to have issues loading many titles. It’s about 1/5 that I click on says they’re having trouble loading even if it’s one I watched a few weeks ago but just wanted to look at how many episodes it had. I will probably not renew my subscription after this month because the few extra titles funimation offers isn’t worth using an inferior video player.

Unfortunate. Kind of annoying how they make you pay for what’s seemingly an unusable app. It’s honestly not bad when it’s working, but I guess that’s the catch. First you have to deal with the app loading which is unnecessarily long, assuming you get past the fetching details screen, and then you still have to wait for it to do.. something? If you’re lucky enough to actually get to watch the title you’re looking for without app crashes/“something went wrong” or “lost connection” issues it’s worth what you pay. I just wish they’d stop adding/removing features and actually make the app usable. My other complaint would be the buggy and lackluster user interface. Other than that, the selection is pretty good so that’s cool. It’s truly unfortunate because the general color palate is nice compared to Netflix/Hulu/HBO etc. since they all seem to use basic grays and blacks, but until the app is usable consistently I couldn’t recommend it.

This truly hurts to write. I love Funimation, and I don’t just mean this app. This app has possibly the best selection of anime outside of finding it illegally online, but it doesn’t matter how great or how many shows you have if you can’t watch them. I always just assumed that I (along with every other person writing bad reviews) just had crappy phones or bad WiFi, but I now have the iPhone 13 with the fastest internet speeds you can get, due to working from home, and I STILL get MAYBE 3 episodes into something before this app refuses to play the next episode. The crazy part is, I’ll go try to play another show and that will play no problem and I’ll try to go back to the episode that I was trying to watch in the first place and it still won’t load. Whenever I read reviews, I always think to myself that the people writing them had ONE bad experience and now they just want to complain, but I have been paying for Funimation for YEARS now, and I can honestly say, this is an everyday thing. Every time this app has an update, I get so excited thinking that just maybe, this is the one that fixes the streaming issues, but it still hasn’t happened. Please Funimation, I am begging you while literally throwing money at you every month, PLEASE fix these streaming issues.. I’m not going to continue paying for something I can’t use, that’s why I left my ex.

Horrible apps/user interface and they do not care.. If you have used funimation’s app on any platform then I don’t have to tell you but it is the clunkiest, most inconvenient successful entertainment app I have ever seen. They offer multiple streams but not multiple profiles so you will be constantly having to refund your episode if you share. Will switch languages for no reason. Does not track episode if you watch uncut and then auto switches back. Every time I watch one piece I have to 1. Rebrowse to find the episode I’m on 2. Re switch back to uncut 3. Reswitch the language 4. Manually skip through the recap or intro Often the downloads won’t download for no reason. Sometimes fully downloaded content will somehow still freeze Most the funimation apps have no next episode button you you either have to manually fast forward the entire episode or go back to the menu, find the season, find the episode These are just a few examples but funimation fails at almost any opportunity to provide any ease of use to the interface. If you can watch the show you wanna watch somewhere else then do it because this app is 🚮

Worst streaming app there is. This app BLOWS. Can’t help but compare to crunchyroll’s convenient bottom buttons for simulcasts, my stuff, etc…where’s my queue? All in one big long Netflix-style strip with no way to see a list. On top of that, if you try to stream to Roku, chromecast, smart TV or anything like that, the app somehow loses connection with the device you’re streaming to. The show will keep playing, but the app thinks it’s at whatever time stamp it was at when you STARTED streaming to the device. So if you need to pause your show for any reason, good luck- it’s starting you over from the beginning pretty much, and you’ll have to find your place on your own. For the same reason, the app doesn’t keep track of what I’ve watched, so if I ever stop watching a show for a couple weeks and want to pick up where I left off, that’s pretty much just not possible. I have to kind of guess where I was, probably end up rewatching three episodes, getting frustrated and putting it down again. This is really infuriating because Funimation has some great content- this app is just unusable.

Was a good app. Overall, it is a great place to get your anime. Few glitches here and there which are to be expected. It’s free or you can pay for the upgraded version. However, they have now added commercials to episodes… they have always had one in the beginning but now there are 3 different sets throughout the episode. But that does not mean 3 commercials no there can be up to 6 30 second commercials and they can literally be all the same… talk about annoying. I had 3 of the same ones, then 1 different and then 2 more of the first one. Really?! Come on now, that’s a little ridiculous. I pay for the premium plus subscription so I can watch everything. Why am I paying to watch commercials? I understand if the free accounts have this but the premium plus? Any other film app either doesn’t have any commercials or does the one commercial at the start if you are paying a subscription. This has bothered me for awhile now. When I started using this app I enjoyed it. Finally a place to get to watch all the anime you want. But with this change, adding all these commercials to paying customer is starting to change my mind. I feel like they went from caring about customer experience to more about the money.

Ability to skip. I love Funimation on my phone it works great but my one complaint is you can only skip 10 seconds ahead on a episode and you have to spam click it. There’s a lot of times where I rewatch episodes or try to figure out where I left off, so I skip through episodes. Most websites or apps will either let you drag the bar to the exact part you want I believe it’s called (scrubbing) through a video or a website will have it to where you click it multiply’s so first click is 10 seconds ahead then 20 s and so forth making the process a lot faster. I rated this a four stars for this reason. I love Funimation been using there website and watching tv shows on there app pretty much since they became a business. If not for this one flaw it’s a perfect five stars!

Get Crunchyroll.. Im going to be brutally honest. They gave up on this streaming service. Days of not being able to connect on mobile but you can PC. Playing a crunchyroll ad before every episode even with a 10 dollar subscription. The only reason i got funimation is to watch One piece dubbed, and thats it. The website version of funimation is terrible. It hogs so much internet from your computer that it has to be the only thing running on your pc. even with it drawing this much internet, it buffers constantly 10 - 13 times per episode where it will skip seconds of content and then start playing in terrible quality. The volume doesnt stay consistent, making you have to lower the volume each time you start an episode. Funimation shared part of its library with crunchyroll to apparently make it the greatest anime experience, but all it did was bring funimations problems to crunchyrolls website too. Ive put off using funimation as i didnt feel like paying, and the minutes of ads with no subscription, and i wish i just stuck with that and never got funimation. If you aint reading allat, just stay away from funimation and just get crunchyroll or pirate shows.

Great before, but recently… there has been an issue.. Everything before a few days before this review was posted, was great. I’m not necessarily saying that it’s not great now, but there has been an issue as of late. Whenever I start an episode the advertisement in the beginning never loads, and never automatically goes away. I’m not a premium member, and upgrading would seem to be a simple solution, but I’m not sure I’d want to purchase a subscription right now. The selection of anime is still impressive and is comparable to many other large anime streaming services, but with the advertisements not loading correctly, it basically renders the app useless unless you pay the subscription for premium. The app itself is still good, but this only goes to show that one small problem can ruin something for what it is. Edit: Truth be told, I’ve been looking for reasons to switch to Crunchyroll anyways lately, because of its expansive library of anime, and ease of access to most features in its menu/Home Screen format.

Mediocre. I’ve hate this app for a couple of months, it’s best feature is it’s anime library. I’ve come across plenty of issues not only on the phone app but the app on the television as well. As for my televisions one won’t play any show I choose, the other won’t auto play to the next episode. My fire stick is where this app works best. As for my phone downloading shows to watch later is terrible, for starters the download speed of one episode is slow, then after I’ve clicked download on episodes I have to always go back because the episodes always fail to download. I have to keep clicking and re-download episodes multiple times for hours. While on wifi in some locations episodes not download will not play, it’ll sit at a black screen and do nothing BUT on the same wifi speed Netflix downloads episodes and plays everything very well. With all that being said I guess it’s pointless having to mention the subtitles come in seconds late. So all in all it’s almost better to try a different anime app altogether which I have not done thus far. I’ll give this app another month of $7 before I call it quits.

Terrible, No Good, Very Bad. First of all the subtitles for your Nintendo switch app is all the way off the screen so you can’t even read it. Secondly every time I try to watch a video on your web browser it says “video is not found.” Thirdly your phone app crashes just while you’re trying to put shows on my watch list (then again so does your Nintendo switch app). Every app you have no matter what device is extremely laggy. Fourth I pay for premium plus and I’m still getting ads, I don’t care how short it is if I’m paying for no ads I should get no ads. And the fact you bombard ad payers with 20 ads within a minute in of a series is ridiculous. Fifth this is a pathetic excuse for an app I honestly cringed when I found out you bought crunchyroll. I sincerely hope you do not ruin crunchyroll the same way you’ve handled your mediocre app. Do us all a favor and continue moving all the shows to the crunchyroll app and completely remove the funimation app from the App Store. And don’t you dare change a thing to crunchyroll besides adding new shows. The apps are perfect as is.

Please add Mexico as a region so I can watch more anime’s. I love funimation so much! It’s a great app and I love that I can watch it in dubs. The quality is amazing and premium is so worth it. I would say funimation is way better then crunchy roll but the only problem is that I moved to Mexico a few days ago and I went onto funimation and it says “Funimation is not available in this region but we’re adding new regions all the time. Check back again soon!” So can you please add Mexico. The only reason I’m asking is because I LOVE THIS APP, ITS GREAT TO WATCH ANIMES but I have premium on there and it’s going to waste because the app doesn’t allow Mexico to use funimation so like I said can you please please, please add it! (On safari I searched up if Funimation allows Mexico to use the app and it said like “Funimation will be adding Mexico soon” which was in like 2020.” So please add Mexico as a region so I can watch more anime! 😄

Ngl, horrible. I couldn’t understand the bad ratings because I always thought since this is a very big company. But, as soon as I got the app, I realized the reason why there are such bad reviews. There are absolutely no anime available. Every anime I click, it says you need premium. Wayyyyy too many that need premium. I could understand if they were popular animes, such as demon slayer or attack on titan, but it’s every single one. The few animes that I could find and watch, gave me 2 ads in the beginning and after 7 minutes gave me 6 ads, each 30 second long, and once I reached the middle mark gave me another 6 ads each 30 second long again, and then there and there is mark a few minutes before the end, which also has 6 ads each 30 seconds long…it’s not worth it. That’s 20 ads in one episode. I deleted this after the 2nd episode. I couldn’t take it. Also if I were to leave the episode by accident or smth, I would have to rewatch all ads that I just watched.

Ad watching simulator. Broken app.. TL;DR AVOID THIS APP IF POSSIBLE. It has way too many errors that make you to be unable to watch the shows you want to watch while spamming you with ads. I have been using this app for less than a week and I have already encountered continual errors. First of all, there are a lot of ads if you do not have a subscription. This would be perfectly fine if it wasn’t for the fact that the app frequently gets stuck while loading the ads, forcing you to reset the app and watch the ads all over again. It is not a WiFi or connection issue. If the ads load properly, you watch about 6.5 minutes to 8 minutes of ads per episode, but if the apps don’t load properly you could end up watching up to 15.5 minutes of ads or possibly even more. That’s right. If the app malfunctions hard enough, you could spend more time watching ads than the episodes themselves. Also, I have gotten errors that have prevented me from watching anything in the app at all. One type of error has seemed to happen for no reason. Other times, I have gotten an error message saying that I can only watch on one device with a free account even though I had logged out on the other device over 30 minutes ago. Terrible, horrible app. I will try to find other methods of watching the shows I want to watch.

Sorry but... here’s the truth. Funimation I have always loved your app, but you have to pay to like watch a episode you can’t, unlike this app Crunchyroll still has ads but you can watch all the Japanese or dubbed anime on there and you don’t have to pay. I love watching my hero academia on here. But I don’t enjoy paying for stuff I want to watch. Also let’s talk about katsu, katsu gets the episode on a few hours after it’s released. I’ve been waiting to watch season 4 on my hero academia. BOOM it’s comes out after so long but I have to pay for it. I love your dubs but please let everyone watch the episodes for free and pay for something like watch offline, or get free merchandise. I will still use this app. But not as much as I use crunchyroll. I will edit this if you make some changes. Edit: Back to five stars :3 this was written in 2020 (I’m pretty sure) so here’s ur five stars back lol

Good but needs some improvements. I pay $5.99 a month for this app so I can any of the shows available to me without ads and so I can cast to my tv. The anime selection is better than Netflix and I don’t have to create a whole separate profile so my algorithm on Netflix doesn’t get ruined. However recently, I’ve noticed that while watching it’ll allow me to watch one or two episodes and then halfway through the second or third episode, it’ll boot me out of the app and force me to start the episode all over again. Since I cast this to the tv, I have to use wifi and I know my connection is good so it can’t be that and I don’t have this problem with any other app. If I’m going to be paying a monthly fee to use this app, I really ought to be able to ACTUALLY use it. Very frustrating to have to constantly reboot the app. Edit: this bug has been fixed however a new one has popped up! Now I can’t cast in Japanese!! Like many anime fans, I strongly prefer watching in Japanese with English subtitles as English dub is super cringey. But now the app doesn’t let me do that while casting to Google Crome cast. Please for the love of all that is good in the world, FIX THIS BUG!!

Wow it’s improved. I’d like to start my stating that this is purely a review of the app itself, not content or the company. I have used the Funimation app for about three years now, and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised by how much improvement has been made over that time. About three years ago the app was unusable, quite literally. It often would simply stop working or close, along with general loading issues. I mean it when I at that literal pirating websites had better reliability than the app. BUT I am glad to say that has changed. The recent improvements are wonderful. The app looks nicer, no longer that terrible white background with the harsh sharp corners for everything, and the search aspect now works reliably. The app is useable and is good for everything I need. It lacks a lot of things in the quality of life department, but it seems they are currently prioritizing functionality over the good looks.

Good selection of content. Trash Apps. The Good: They have a great selection of content. At least, I’m happy with it. The Bad: I use this on iPhone and Apple TV. On the iPhone when browsing through the full library it will sometimes say it can’t communicate with the servers. This always happens with certain shows like when I try to add DBZ or Naruto to my queue. It also seems like there is some content available on my phone that’s not available on Apple TV. Like I can watch Akira on my phone, but when I go to the info for it on TV it says there’s no videos. The Apple TV app is the worst. When I view the details for a show or movie, the back button doesn’t return me to the previous screen; instead it takes me to the main menu. I then have to navigate through the menus back to where I was. When browsing shows it always defaults to most recently added. I switch to alphabetical to make it easier to find what I’m looking for, but it doesn’t let me jump through the alphabet. Then as I said before, if I view something I then have to start all over. I also tried to navigate to Naruto or DBZ to add them to my queue on my TV, but the app crashes when I try to view them. Recommendations: * Fix the back button functionality to work like the rest of Apple TV apps * Add scroll by letter function / jump to letter function * Have a disclaimer if a show isn’t available on all supported platforms * Get an Apple TV for your QA team to test on

Ads don’t play. Hi, I just got Funimation and am using a free account. I’m on an iPhone 12, and I noticed that sometimes, during an ad break, the screen just turns black and doesn’t play any ads. Currently trying to watch Demon Slayer, and I keep backing out of the episode to try and fix it, only for it to keep playing like 20 seconds before the ad break, and then the ads don’t play again (making it effectively stuck not playing the rest of the episode). My internet is good and this phone is still pretty new, so I don’t think it’s a problem with anything on my side of things. Please fix this, because I really wanna watch stuff but it just won’t let me. Thank you! Edit: I reopened the app and it worked, but happened again during the next ad break. This time reopening the app didn’t solve it, so it’s been a hassle to just watch one episode. 😔

Good but needs improvement. Overall, I like the layout of the app, and it works great when I have a good WiFi connection. My problems with Funimation are 1) why are there no profiles? If multiple people can be streaming at one time, why can’t there be multiple profiles, so everyone can have their own Queue AND keep track of what episode they are on? My brother and I have two very different tastes in Anime, and it would be nice to have my own profile with just the shows I want to watch. It would also be nice, because on the slim chance that we both want to watch the same show, I would like to be able to keep track of where I am at, instead of constantly being shown what episode my brother is on (because he watches more per day than me.) 2) I don’t understand why they don’t have a remote log out option. I feel like that would be the first thing a streaming service would make, incase an account got hacked, someone went on vacation or sold Xbox/PS/Etc and forgot to log out. Instead, I have to cancel my subscription, get a new email, and re-subscribe. Every other streaming service I have/have used, have both of these services (profiles and remote log out), so I don’t understand why Funimation is being lazy and not providing its subscribers, aka THE PEOPLE GIVING THEM MONEY, with these (obviously user friendly) services. It makes no sense to me. If Funimation had these, I’d give it 7 starts out of 5, instead of 2.

Second review. My first review, over a year ago, was one of the most strict and brutal reviews I’ve ever written. The app was truly bad and the overall service sub par. After the update and reformatting, things have been over 9,000 times better. It’s much easier to use, the layout is more friendly. And they probably added more servers. Idk. Seems faster. Thankfully they decided to change it for their customers. 3 things though. 1 It would have been nice to know that there was an update on the way. Seeing as how it might have taken awhile to make. Knowing it ahead of time would have made being patient easier. 2 They say you can stream multiple devices, but if that’s true why not add multiple profiles so that my wife can watch her stuff and I can watch mine. If we are on the same show at different times it’s makes it difficult to pick up where I left easy. I’m feel that it wouldn’t be terribly hard to do that but I don’t format or program, so idk 3 if you are watching a show and want to continue where you left off I wish that clicking the show would take you to the details instead of playing. It sounds counter intuitive but that’s because when someone else is watching. The same show and I want to check what episode is up I gotta go find the show.

Great titles if you can get the app to work or titles to pull up. Very good shows when you can access them and that is the problem. You can find a show and then the next minute it doesn’t exist. Then you find a show that has no episodes but a few hours later they have episodes for it. This is even if you can get on the app at all. For something you pay for not worth the money for the poor user experience you get but when it works it is worth it. Not only the above mentioned things but sometimes it bugs out and freezes in the episode. I can go from my living room to my bedroom to continue a show and it doesn’t work at all when it was just working fine and not to mention I pay for this and the app no longer works for me at any point. The only reason I keep this is because it does have the most dubbed and what I prefer to watch anime on unlike cruchyroll who is mainly in original languages and that is fine for those that like that kind of thing but I don’t like reading when watching something. If it wasn’t for the dubbed content I would cancel this and watch for free on gogo anime

Still the only platform I’ll ever use. Latest update the pause feature doesn’t work. I just wanted to let the developers of this app know that the pause feature is not working for me and the only way to pause a show is by using my Bluetooth earbuds. I would appreciate it if this was resolved. As for the overall review of the app, This is something I’ve said before but I’ll say it again, I’m a 90s baby and have grown up with Funimation incorporated into my life so to hear that this app will be moving over to crunchyroll, (whom is in the middle of a class action lawsuit btw) it made me cringe. I don’t think it’s the best decision for the platform as a whole or even for Sony to force people like me, who finds Funimation a very nostalgic and fun concept that has been woven into their life and wish to continue to be, over to a platform that we will never fully embrace or commit to because let’s be real. There’s a lot more people than just myself who will not be making the switch and that’s a lot of lost revenue for Sony and Funimation. The second this app stops working is the day I will be going old school and watching DVDs and watching other platforms. Crunchyroll will not be one of those things.

A fallen beacon. I’ve had Funimation for a few years now and have loved using their services as they offered higher quality videos, better audio quality and a superior selection of anime than their competitors at Crunchyroll. However, they pretty much sold themselves out to crunchyroll for an easy extra dollar. Their app on all platforms has become unreliable as it struggles to load the anime you want to watch. The visuals can take several minutes to fully load in and while you wait for it to load, it continues to play in the background with zero response to any button presses. It won’t pause, rewind, fast forward, it won’t even respond to me trying to close the app. It cause both my iPhone and Roku TV to crash regularly for zero reason. Further more, they’ve introduced ads promoting Crunchyroll, even on the Premium accounts, which they advertise as “Ad Free” by the way. All in all, Funimation has become a joke of a streaming service and an unreliable supplier of legally obtained dubbed anime tv series and movies. They are sellouts and aiding Crunchyroll with creating a monopoly over the American anime market.

Policy for refund needs to be updated. So I bought it cause I thought as advertised that they had Naruto movie 6 and 7 available but when I tried it didn’t work. Now this is the ONLY reason I bought it cause I have crunchyroll and it works for me but they don’t have those movies available in this region, so when I saw Google showed funimation had it I thought great and when you go to the app on a streaming device or my phone when I search for it the movie shows up and even allows you to click on it, it just won’t play and refers you to customer service, so I reached out and customer service says they don’t have the rights to show it anymore, fair enough so that same day I requested a refund cause I don’t need it if I can’t watch what I wanted to see, they referred me to Apple, apple always gives me back my money on purchases but they did this time and when I asked they said the developer funimation’s policy does not permit them to do so, and referred me to funimation, reached out to them and their response, because I paid through third party (Apple) they have no way to refund me. It should not be this way. That’s a full month that I still have yet to use cause I don’t want to that has done NOTHING for me

Annoyed. This app has so many issues. From streaming to accessing my account. Some shows won’t stream while others will. Some shows say they are dubbed in English but won’t play in English. Sometimes the app won’t even open. Now I was told it couldn’t find my user on the app but, online it says o forgot my password. Which I did not. So I create a new account with the same email and it recognizes that I already have an account and it lets me log in finally. Now my subscription won’t link back to my account and I go to manage but there is nothing for me to do to manage the issue. Funimation needs a big overhaul or another company needs to buy them out and actually put some effort towards making it better. And not being able to speak to a rep is really annoying too. You have to wait almost a week to get a reply that’s not automated saying they received the request and that’s if you get a response. Highly disappointed and dissatisfied!!

UI and problems with watching certain shows. The user interface is poor at best and completely broken at worst. I have issues with speed and connection even using a LAN connection and good internet speeds. This problem makes about half their library unavailable at any time and doesn't have any rhyme or reason for their failures. The download is slow and updates seem non-existent. After they bought VRV I hoped they would build off of VRV's perfectly good app and brand it funimation, but they took it the other way. New series they've recently gotten the rights to that are touted as great additions; I would agree they are great additions to their library, but none of them are actually available for me to watch, it just says come back and try later. Broken system without hope for anything better since there is now a semi-monopoly on the anime streaming game by Sony and their terrible app. If there was ANY alternative to Funimation's app on phone/tv/computer I would even pay them an extra couple dollars to fix their problems, but I wouldn't trust Sony at their word for all the (insert valuable item here) with respect to fixing problems. Funimation has sucked for years, now it is getting much, much worse. I expect not to be able to watch any of their new acquisitions this year, maybe they'll fix it by 2023?

Great content, lackluster presentation, & other not-minor failings.. Loving their choice of anime to pick up. Not liking how subtitles tend to go missing (eg: the Japanese version is available , but has absolutely no subtitles), or subtitles play back out of sync with the video. New videos are ok. It’s when something gets a season or two old that things tend to fail. Liking less how, when I buy blue-rays from their store with digital versions included... the digital version is not included (yes, sure, the key is in the blue-ray case... the key wasn’t active for any of 3 blue rays from 2 separate purchases). Liking least (but going back furthest - may happen they’ve fixed this? Their reply indicated they didn’t really care...), when I went to create a login so that I could comment about their videos online... that I couldn’t because of an error, and got a reply to the effect of ‘yeah, that’s not working.’ No path provided to fix the problem. When a complaint results in neither a correction nor a setting of expectations, that sets an expectation of problems, if reported, don’t get fixed. Obvious, glaring+recurring problems with content not being promptly fixed (missing/broken subtitles) supports this undesiareable expectation, which leaves customers little motivation to report problems, just a general motivation to move on.

terrible..😐. the only reason i gave this app an extra star was only because your app used to work before it started glitching. this all happened in less than a week after downloading. for some reason, whenever i open the app, it doesn't show any videos in my watch history. it tells me to click the top to refresh the page and nothing happens. I couldn't watch a certain anime i was catching up with and some other shows too. it didn't let me play the video and said something about "error 5." I tried reinstalling the app multiple times, and all I got was nothing. It still continued to glitch. My wifi is completely fine and it works with any other streaming app I have on my phone. I tried logging out and logging back in, just for it to say i am unable to get back into my account for some reason. I tried resetting my password for my account and it told me to retry. please fix this, it's really frustrating, and i might as well download crunchyroll instead. 🤦‍♀️

Too many dubs. The selection of shows is pretty good, but the Japanese versions are largely unavailable. I’m not hating on people who want the dubbed versions, but hearing the original Japanese voice actors is my personal preference. All the shows I love and wanted to rewatch are English only. You would think it would be the other way around. It’s definitely taken away a significant number of choices from the shows I would watch which is maddening because this is one of the only ways to watch anime in my region. This feels like a trap because this company knows it doesn’t have to be good to its users because they’re one of the only ones who provides this service. Feels like a rort paying for premium. On top of that are the usual ux/ui complaints. Hard to navigate to a genre or a show’s info page (i.e. you see the tile for the most recent episode of a series you are interested in starting but there’s no way to see the show details so you cannot pick the first episode in the series, forcing you to hunt down their search function and typing out the entire show title unless you want to scroll through the irrelevant results that come up in the search). You have to scroll through a lackluster home page to find the filtering function and loading each show’s info has a 30% chance of a load error. There’s no way to report missing subtitles or to request shows (like when this was animelab).

More English Dubs. I have been subscribing to Funimation for years. And I’ve looked into other apps that stream anime. I think this app way better than most. Your watching a episode and you have the option in the middle of your episode to switch from Japanese to English Dub. Crunchyroll can’t do this. Some people say the app is glitchy, well I’ve had more problems from Netflix than from Funimation. The old format did have some flaws but that’s gone now. The New Format can be approved upon. I get that selection for Animations can be frustrating when your looking for something and can’t find it. But As far as English Dubs go Funimation is the way to go. They have Season's of English Dubs that most other apps don’t have. I Would Like To See Some of the older shows that just have the 1st season in English done; get the second season done in English also. **The cool thing with this app is you can set a Language preference!** So when you select your shows English will play if it’s Available! If Your looking into getting Funimation. Give it a try. It does work a little different than most streaming apps. But to sum it up I’ve been with them for years and I like it better than Crunchyroll, Hidive, Retro,… just to name a few. .

Better than I remember it but still not great. I remember trying to watch something on this app years ago and giving up not even halfway through the first episode because I was frustrated with the UI. The UI has most certainly gotten better but now a different issue frustrated me and made me stop watching not even halfway through episode 1. Look I understand if you want to watch stuff for free you gotta put up with ads. I am broke and am usually fully willing to put up with ad-breaks if it means I can watch stuff for free. But I feel like this app takes it to the next level. It felt like every 5 minutes I’d be hit with a 6 ad ad-break. Maybe I’d be able to put up with it if it was 6 ads every 10 minutes or 2 ads every 5 minutes. The thing that really annoyed me was that the ads were literally the same exact ad playing 6 times every ad-break. Hearing the same ad on loop got on my nerves and annoyed me so much I had to stop watching. There was even one point where an ad played OVER the audio for the show without pausing the show and when the ad ended I was watching a minute ahead of where the ad break started. Like I said I’m usually okay with ads (I understand they still need to make money off my freeloading) but I feel like this app just made it far too obnoxious and nearly impossible to enjoy watching anything.

Great when it works and not just buffering…. As per the title, you can already guess where this is going. I think I’ve spent more time buffering and waiting for videos to start rather than actually watching them. The app structure, UI, layout, etc is all designed really well. However, streaming to the iPad has increasingly become useless across both 4g and 5g connections. I’ve tried both repeatedly, in the same room as the modem as well. I don’t know what’s happened to the servers, it does seem like this issue has only gotten worse and worse. Perhaps it may have something to do with the news about Funimation and Crunchyroll? Whatever it is… please fix it. I I know it’s not my connection, as all other streaming apps work perfectly by comparison, even at full resolution streaming. Or if there’s a way to clear the cache or refresh other flushing functionality to get this app working properly again. Thanks

It’s not that bad of an app but…. I enjoy Funimation and it’s wide variety of anime although there are a few problems. First of all I don’t see a casting button on the new version of the app. I remember seeing one previously so it’s quite annoying that I can’t find it anymore in the newer version of the app. Another problem is the ads. I understand you need to make money but the ads don’t stay consistent. Whenever you try to watch an anime normally you get one ad before you begin to watch although sometimes you’ll get all five. And although it’s bothersome to sit through five ads that is not really a problem for me. One of my biggest problems is when I’m trying to watch this one dubbed anime (My Roommate is a Cat) the subtitles are turned on. I’m not a big fan of unnecessary subtitles so I turn them off but then I have to watch another five ads after turning off the subtitles. And every single time I stop watching and go back to that anime the subtitles are turned back on. I hope you can fix this issue or make the ads less. Because it is very bothersome to sit through five ads back to back just because I don’t want to watch an anime that I can understand the language of (English) with subtitles that the app puts on the show manually. Thank you for reading this and have a lovely day/night.

The worst media player on any streaming service. I love funimation’s content, when I can actually watch it without the media player failing hard - which is rare. Even on a freaking ethernet connection it’s CONSTANT buffering and freezing and frustration. I can’t get through a single episode of anything without having to refresh like 10 times, start from the beginning, fast-forward to where I was, more buffering…rinse and repeat…and the app is even worse. I honestly don’t know why I keep paying for it given that Netflix’s anime library is pretty good now and Crunchyroll isnt perfect but it’s miles above this, I guess I just think that theyve had these complaints for so long they’ll do something about it soon but it has been this way since I subscribed like 3 years ago…still same problems…how and why and they don’t fix this is utterly mystifying given that it’s the whole point of a streaming service and I guess I just need to stop paying for it at this point.

Great app but. This is a great app. It has a great user interface and has a lot of different animes! I mostly came here for dragon ball because it has it dubbed. It’s very nice to watch just there is one problem, ads. I load up an episode, ad (30 seconds so far) I skip past the intro, 6 30 second ads(210 seconds). I get about halfway, 6 30 second ads(390 seconds). 6/8 through, 5 30 second ads(540 seconds). And when the episode is about to be over, 6 more 30 second ads. In total that is 720 seconds of ads which is 12 minutes. So the average episode is 20 minutes. So I spend more than half the length of the episode watching ads. There are two ways to get around it. Subscription or ad blocker. If your on your phone I suggest using a laptop or pc. If your on a laptop or pc download an adblocker because the amount of ads you get is crazy.

Terrible customer service. Funimation is a decent app for a decent price. It allows you to watch some anime, with some convenience, and is really cheap. However, if your looking for quality content backed by a company that actually cares, then look elsewhere. Upon getting my account hacked, and email/password switched, Funimation had zero customer support in locating my account. They failed to find my account via email address, account name, credit card, or any other means that would normally locate ones account. They instead shifted all responsibilities and to blame a third-party payment system, insisting that they could only help if you used a credit card instead of the Apple payments. As petty as it may seem, I was robbed out of my billing cycle payments, forced to create a new account, loosing all data and history associated with Funimation. It isn’t worth investing hours of your life into an app that cannot securely safeguard your account, nor keep records on file regarding your account details, and insisting that you should start a new subscription and refresh all your account preferences including the lists of content you intended to watch. After reattempting this service, I found I was getting ads on multiple episodes for multiple different shows. Upon contacting customer support, they simply said they were looking into the issue and never came up with a solution.

The worst streaming service/app. Constant wait.. Not even kidding. I’ve been using this app for 3 months now, it’s the worst streaming service/app. I’m not sure if it’s the app or the streaming service itself, but it’s terrible. Can barely do simple functions other streaming services do such as continue next episode and replay. Can’t remember where user left off on an episode. The worst part is trying to start an episode. It will start to play the first 7 seconds, then waits…and waits…and waits. It’s stupid. I can run every other streaming service without delay, yet Funimation can’t provide a working streaming service. So if you get stuck on the wait, start over (you’ll have to do it another 5 or 6 times before it’ll work) then you can watch your show. It’s a mixture of luck, fast forwarding before it gets stuck on a wait, and where/when on the episode to press play; otherwise you’ll be on the wait again. It’s annoying to do every episode. I’m canceling and never coming back to this ridiculous company.

Good but... Hey this is a good app to watch anime and all but I think the most problems I have is ads and pay walls. I get some things need paywalls but not most of the apps content. Like the demon slayer movie, I thought I could watch something like that for free on your app, which was one of the reasons why I got it not knowing I had to pay to see it. Kinda a let down sorry to say. But besides that, the ones that I can watch for free have a massive amount of ads, most of the time the ads repeat themselves back to back which can be annoying to most. I’ve noticed that when I accidentally close out the app completely and go back into the anime, I have to watch up to 5 ads just to continue where I left off. I don’t really thinks that’s fair, and it’s quite frustrating. Overall this is a good app, I just think you need to tone down on ads and paywalls is all. Hope you all have a good day!

FAIL in any language. Your app translations are as bad as the translations on your anime (but better-voiced): “Only Premium Plus and Premium Plus Ultra users must[sic] be able to access the app offline” And I thought the app was useless BEFORE! You are deliberately blocking access to PAID Digital Copies. Can you say “Class Action Lawsuit”? Update: this app FAILs on EVERY platform iOS (iPad and iPhone), PlayStation, Roku, etc. They constantly insert ads into PAID Digital Copies. Why bother logging in or building a digital library when your paid content has ads like anonymous, for-free guest viewing? That’s *IF* your Digital Copies are still in your Library! Funimation didn’t lose the licenses (yet)… those paid-for episodes are available but only on the main stream… with ads or, get this, only to premium subscribers! You need to subscribe to access your purchased content… which is otherwise available to all subscribers! Maybe you can find the missing Digital Copies in your Library by switching platforms, but I can all but guarantee you that they’ll have ads, even if you TRY to watch from My Library / My Anime! And the dubs are still garbage

Ads and more (again). This app is a breeding ground for ads. If I watch an episode of something, I have to watch an ad, there are at least 2 ad sequences in each episode, and I feel like it is ridiculous. You have to watch at the very least 5 ads each episode. One before you get into the episode, 1-6 ads after the intro, and then another one, maybe two ad sequences after that. Not to mention that after you look at an ad, sometimes you get a black screen and then you are forced to go to another ad sequence like a checkpoint. This company seems money hungry, and is too focused on earnings and ads, than the quality of the app. I feel like they only say they don’t even read the reviews, to see what people feel. In fact, they are so focused on earnings, they made another app, which basically has the same properties and problems of this app. The ads are the main issue. I could understand if the company mitigated the ads down to 2 per sequence, but they don’t.

Omg. Literally I was on Funimation and an attic him and of course I was a little angry because I wanna continue my show but that wasn’t the thing I wanted to complain about when the ad popped up in the attic finished I cannot press out of the app so I went back to the screen press the show again and the show starts again but then another ad pops up and then happens the same literally I can’t exit out so I have to do it again so I do this about four times and then it just gives me six ads six ads and now you want me to go through around 10 and to go to a show and also why do they give you six ads for seven sometimes lake hbo or other sites give you like two and this is just an anime site hello this is an edit this is the same day I am watching these six ads literally when I wrote this it was like two minutes from now I was watching those six ads right so the six is finished and I’m like OK fine show me the show that I’m wanting to watch and then right when the show goes on it gives me another six ads so you’re telling me I have to go through more than 15 ads just to watch one show oh my God I get the site lake two stars now I’m giving it one because really trying to get my money here like oh my mother trucking God

Okay when it works, terrible otherwise.. I’ve been using this app for a couple months and about the only thing it has going for it is the library; you have a vast catalog of shows to choose from and that’s great. What’s not great is the fact that I frequently find myself having to close and reopen the app to POTENTIALLY get to watch a singular episode because of how completely broken the ads are. I have literally spent more time watching ads than I have a show before because the app will get stuck trying to load more ads halfway through the episode leaving me with no other option but to close and reopen the app, sit through a barrage of ads just to get back to where I was in the episode, to then run into the same issue that made me close the app in the first place. Some days the app will actually work but other days I’m caught in this insufferable loop that leaves me beyond frustrated. I would love to continue using the app but it’s hardly worth my time if all I’m actually going to be using is an app that’s a advertisement marathon in disguise.

Unsatisfactory. For an app that requires a paid subscription to have so many technical difficulties is pretty unacceptable. I often try to log on and am unable because the app “can not fetch data”. I also am not able to watch a number of titles that are said to be included on the app because they simply will not load. I have this same issue when using the website, so it is a company wide problem. It is frustrating for two reasons. The first, being that I have seen other streaming apps that have none of these issues so I know that it is possible to fix these bugs. The second, is it feels as though the company is neglecting their customers because they know that Funimation is the only app available in America with such a wide range of dubbed anime. They choose not to correct any of these issues even though their are countless complaints, or at least that is how it is coming off. I suggest a change in subscription pricing so that these problems can be resolved. I am sure that myself and many other customers would not kind paying more if it means an actually enjoying watching experience. Signed, a very disappointed customer.

CASH GRAB. Starting with the positive, they have every episode of dragon ball from when Goku was a tiny boy to Goku fighting Golden Frieza... aside from that, All these ppl care about is your money here. Almost EVERYTHING requires you subscribe. YOU CANT EVEN WATCH SUBBED WITHOUT SUBSCRIBING!! You can’t watch a full season of ANY anime without needing to subscribe, at least not the ones I’ve tried. There are better anime apps, only tried this out bc the app I love to use isn’t on my new tv. Safe to say Among the popular anime apps, this app is the worst of the worst, lowest of the low, greediest, bottom feeder of them all. Devs, please get a job outside of this, then come back to this app and do it right. Thank you … UPDATE: been on premium for awhile, love the extensive library, SERVICE IS AWFUL, dragon ball literally buffers ALWAYS. Can’t watch a full episode without buffering. ON ANY QUALITY EVEN THE LOWEST like wow… I love the selection but I’m ready to just buy the dvds of the anime’s I want to watch. This is awful. Wish they’d fix it but I’m not hopeful. Gonna lose me very soon. I literally get logged out after buffering too

Really Great!. I've had a premium subscription for months now and this streaming service is really great! It has a lot of long shows that I've been itching to watch (One Piece, Dragon Ball) and for the most part I've had no issues! However, I'm around episode 500 for One Piece and I can no longer watch the Japanese dub? I've tried to switch languages back, set my language preference, even tried resetting my phone, yet I can't change it back? It says the Japanese dub isnt available yet when you look at the episode in the list it says it is? I've never had any issues with this in the past, why is it starting now? It happened earlier (around ep 480) but it was only with 1 episode. I've tried skipping ahead in the show and every episode I've tried doesn't have a Japanese option. Is there a way to fix this?

Poor App Quality. I only got this to watch DBZ, but they do have a very large selection of shows to watch - that is why I gave a 2 star rating. Although the DBZ on here is not the original version and it’s missing quite a few parts, it’s still great to watch. Content aside, this is simply not a good platform at all. If I were rating only the platform I would give it 0 stars. There are constant errors, and if you pause for more than a few minutes it crashes when you push play again. After you go back to the Home Screen and find the episode again, it starts you back a minute or 2 from where you left off. Also, the lowest forward and rewind setting are much too fast. There should be a slower option so you can go right to the parts you’re looking for. There are also additional errors and crashes that happen every so often. It’s not my internet, as I don’t have issues with any other streaming services. Funimation should not charge for this service until they fix all of these errors.

Great app to watch anime on but some things. So I got this app last year and I decided to look at the reviews and rate the app and people were saying that there are adds but I don’t get any. I think this app should have a better rating but there are some things. 1. Some animes aren’t finished on Funimation and some are premium but it said that with premium you could watch new episodes after being broadcasted in Japan. So I didn’t get premium just for that. 2. I love the app (ik I keep saying that) but I feel that you could put more animes on this app so it would be better. Also I’m a kid writing this review but pls put why the age ratings are what they are because I was watching “The future diary” and it showed breast naked and the age rating was 14. I watched anime on Netflix before and when the shows said nudity I would search up why and watch it if it was ok. I’ve watched aot and kakegurui before but those are just some examples of the animes I’ve watched that said they had nudity. Usually the nudity would be just like butts or partly covered breast. I know it’s not that big of a deal but it upsets some people like kids like me and parents or just anybody. Those are some things that i think you could do for this app and the people that use this app. But all summed up I think this is a good app. Thank you for reading this rating/review :)

Many pros and cons. Okay, I would like to start off that this app is amazing, there’s many pros but there’s a few cons. One, the ads. Funimation, every single episode I watch it over-boards the amount of ads. Like when I start an episode it gives me 6-7 ads. When I’m getting to like the middle of an episode ANOTHER 7 ads. When I skip to a part, MORE ADS. Now, I get that there’s premium and all that but like can you reduce the amount of ads?? Like just give two ads or one, don’t give an excessive amount of ads. 1 or 2 ads is fine. Premium from what I’ve heard isn’t as good either. I get that you’re trying to boost your business but believe me when I say this, lesser the ads the more positive reviews you’ll get. No. 2, more language. Now, I get that you need premium to unlock certain subs and dubs, but like why is that an option? It’s as if you’re trying to rob a bunch of people and the subtitles aren’t even accurate to what the characters are saying in the sub version of the anime. 3, adding more anime. Funimation, you should atleast add more anime that has been released and make it sub for like a least amount of time and then add a 2nd option to where u can watch it in English. Alright that’s the end of the review. If your looking to download it be prepared for the amount of ads you’re about to see.

I enjoy it but there’s some problems.... Ok I really do enjoy this app it’s quite nice. There are problems that make me rate it so low let’s talk about the good part first. It has tons of Anime's for anyone and everyone which is quite nice but that’s really it... One there’s mostly dubbed anime only, which is good for me because I HAVE to watch the dubbed version because of reasons. But for the people who want to watch the Anime's in Japanese and enjoy it that way don’t get that opportunity especially if it’s the original version is in Japanese that should be your first priority. Then there’s the downloading feature so I wanted to download a season of an Anime series and it failed and was like ok...but then when I went back on to the season it told me again that it failed even if that was days later and it’s annoying. Like I know that it failed don’t tell me again and that happened every time I tried to watch it... so that’s that Also money...even if you can have a premiere you should not have to pay something to watch most of everything on there.

Garbage. Funimation has been so unbelievably frustrating. For a number of months my account broke and just went to a white screen which also prevented me from being able to unsubscribe. It took them 3 months of emails to finally get them to stop stealing my money. After every video it also un-full screens which is really annoying. There are several shows on the site that used to be there but I guess they lost the rights to or something because they now show 0 seasons but keep the shows up to make their library look bigger than it really is. I switched to AnimeLab which was so much better but they bought it and then buried it and forced everyone over to their garbage site again.

Didn’t convert my account from animelab. After finding out that animelab and Funimation were combining I was conflicted as I knew how terrible it had worked for me in the past and the extra effort I need to just watch anime. It’s especially annoying as animelab was such a perfect platform that gave literally zero trouble to use, but I decided to try out Funimation and to hope it had gotten better than when I last tried it. I was thoroughly disappointed when the Funimation app didn’t even register my animelab account details like the walkthrough video said, rather it just told me “Failed Authentication”. I made sure to change my password on animelab to fit Funimations password criteria but still to no avail. At this point I decided to not even bother and just move to crunchyroll. I honestly don’t know what you are even doing to make a platform so dysfunctional it’s really frustrating. I really hope the animelab team can fix your garbage app 👍👍👍

Eh. It’s not that bad but, it’s harder to find some anime’s with only a Japanese name and I can’t remember what is it called so I won’t be able to find it at all. Secondly, there are way to much ads. At the start you get 4 ads instead of 2 like what anime lab did. And AnimeLab only puts the ads at the start and middle but Funimation makes the ads in very unique spots. In anime lab you know when a ad is going to appear when you hear the sound gets low and it cuts to one of those pages with the anime name on it or the title. I would give it a 2 star if it weren’t for some anime episodes that are not in anime lab.

So are y’all gonna add dragon ball z and dragon ball or…?. I’ve been constantly checking the funimation app hoping that they would of released dragon ball z and dragon ball. I was pretty upset about the entire “anime lab is becoming funimation” thing, and I was so close to finishing dbz and then they took it down. And then maybe a week later anime lab closed down. Anyway so my point is here I just want y’all to bring back dbz, and while ur at it just bring back dragon ball as well for the people who are trying to finish it :). Although app is fine, thankfully I haven’t experienced any problems yet. Although I do prefer anime lab but anyway I’m not gonna change the point here lol

OK app but lots of room for improvement. Note this is review of app not if the service as the range of content is very good. I just find the controls and the features of the app are somewhat lacking. I won’t do Picture in Picture so you can’t open other apps on the iPad nor even browser other shows while still watching. Also it seems to have a poor memory. I you jump out briefly to check another app often it has jumped back to the main screen not the video you were watching. Another issue is lack of profiles, if more than one person in a household it won’t keep separate track of the shows you have watched.

Just pure garbage. I was originally a user of AnimeLab. I had no issues, happily paid to stream. Then it switched to Funimation and I had no choice. This app is downright broken. I can’t load episodes. The audio won’t sync. The app regularly crashes. It’s stupid difficult to navigate. For some reason, I had shows that were dub only, but had subs available on AnimeLab. I couldn’t even watch the Demon Slayer movie and watched it offsite. How ridiculous to pay $10 for a broken, glitchy app that is beat out by random third party pirate websites that can give you viruses. I’ll be letting my subscription run out and switch over to a better competitor. So, so disappointing. Don’t bother getting a subscription and if you do, run it out and move on to somewhere else.

Worst streaming app I’ve ever seen. Funimation is the worst streaming app I have ever seen because I want to watch a certain anime so I click then there’s a 30second app so go ok it’s not to bad I get to the end of the add and there’s another one and there’s about four adds before you can actually watch the anime and then you have to go through there introduction witch would usually take another 30 seconds but because of their terrible connection to were I live the thing lags and won’t render so you sit another 30 seconds and then you can watch your anime but in the middle of it you have another 2 ads. After wasting $80 on premium you would expect at least no ads, but then again this is Funimation so what can I expect.

App design is terrible. Now, I’m not saying the AnimeLab app is good persay, what I am saying is the Funimation app is barely functional, especially on Apple TV. You guys should have just taken the AnimeLab app and slapped your branding on it. Apple TV Issues: 1. Navigation is buggy, not letting my browse by genre, it just doesn’t work 2. Pressing the back button exits the app instead of navigating back, there is no way to navigate back without using the side menu, resetting your place 3. When you select TV Show it highlights the filter button instead of the first show in the list 4. The Home Screen is a bunch of not particularly interesting or helpful lists of shows, not even trying to entice me to watch something new 5. Selecting a show to watch sets your cursor back to the left menu 6. Box art is all over the place, often tiny thumbnails 7. Titles are just cut off with ellipses, could be scrolling text 8. No cohesive design language 9. The settings screen is just, garbage I’ve downgraded my rating to 1-star as I am now forced to use this god-awful app.

Trash. I just downloaded it because I heard it was the only place to watch an anime I was looking forward to. I wanted to watch it on my Xbox though so I queued it on my phone. When I check the same app on my Xbox, the queue didn’t exist. I couldn’t scroll through the anime at all either when I found that searching it brought up nothing. When I tried to press The all anime button to search through it, I could only scroll down to the sort button. I couldn’t actual look at or interact with the anime. I went back on to my phone to watch it but it was terrible quality. Already mad, I just straight up deleted it. It’s the worst app I’ve seen by far. Not even usable.

The Promised Neverland Se01, where is it?. Tried to reactivate my AnimeLab account to watch The Promised Neverland. While trying to reactivate my account got redirected to Funimation. After half an hour of trying to make it work, i finally realised my AnimeLab password wasn’t up to snuff for Funimation…as much as I appreciate the added security, a warning why I couldn’t log in with my AnimeLab account would’ve been appreciated. Anyway, I digress, because the real issue here is that the Funimation and AnimeLab libraries aren’t synced. After being forced to go with Funimation instead, I would’ve expected I could at the bare minimum get access to the same library. At my first try (The Promised Neverland) this already proved to be an issue; both seasons on AnimeLab, only season 2 on Funimation. Is this going to be fixed?

Bad design for an app. The website has a much better layout, you can view anime by genres and A-Z on the site. There’s more ways to categorise and display anime, the website is so much easier to navigate and is much more pleasing to the eye. The app however is overwhelming and very bunched together, making display and filtering very difficult unless you know what you want to search for (only handy for people looking for specific shows, very frustrating for folks trying to browse and discover new anime) I stopped my subscription with Funimation when they announced moving to crunchyroll, I regret doing this as only half of the content has been added to crunchyroll. Funimation is still worth the subscription, just be aware that the app is annoying to navigate and you’ll have a much better time on the website through Google/safari/chrome

Catalogue is fine but app is aggressively terrible. The catalogue has lots of good shows. But the app itself is just so incredibly awful to use that if doubt I’ll ever use it for anything other than shows I REALLY want to watch and have no alternative. UI is full of jank and weird interactions, slow loading. Shows take longer than you’d think to actually play at full resolution. Sometimes on the TV app it’ll just refuse to play in a certain language. You have the skip right to the end of an episode for it to acknowledge that you’ve finished it. The list just goes on. AnimeLab was fantastic and Funimation is abysmal in comparison and doesn’t appear to be getting any better with time.

Bad with Chromecast. This app is horrible with chromecast. It will not continue on to the next episode, you have to do it manually. Sometimes you have fiddle around with trying to reconnect it again. You can’t skip intros. There’s 2 screens one to skip forward 30 seconds, the other skips episodes, you can’t skip forward 30 seconds without needed to restart the episode again to skip the episode. Would not recommend, will not be continuing on past the 14 day free trial, I’ll go back to animelab… The only reason I tried this app was because I was told One Piece was on here, but it’s not available in Australia.

Worst streaming app and ran by lazy people. Animelab was great, this is the worst possible replacement imaginable. The app has terrible design and looks ugly most of the time, the flow of the site isn’t streamlined making it hard to find things even when you know what you want to find. Trying to steam to a TV will force the dub to play and not the sub, for some reason the ‘add to queue button rarely works, payment validation almost always fails it’s first try, optimisation is poor, player is poor, the whole thing is downright poor. These people should take a lot of pages from AnimeLab and make an actual good site/app (desktop site has all the same issues) all of these are easy fixes, but the owners are just lazy.

Funimation app transition. I’ve always enjoyed watching on the AnimeLab app, with how easy it was to use and there was no issues with it. I didn’t mind redoing my details to Funimation but I couldn’t even get through the login stage on the Funimation app, with it saying ‘Failed Authentication’. Watching through the website is okay but watching through an app is more smoother and easier to use. I hope that Funimation fixes this because current shows have not been releasing new episodes on AnimeLab due to the merge with Funimation (MHA, One Piece and Boruto is what I watch). So moving to Funimation has some serious issues. I have to watch through the Funimation website now but hopefully they work on it asap.

What was even the point. Funimation acquired AnimeLab, a service which wasn’t perfect but had one of the best selections of shows, and also had dubs. Then they got acquired by Funimation, a service that had a similar selection (albeit likely with the acquired rights), but an absolutely horrendous set of apps that could just barely play the content, let alone do anything else useful. And now they’re folded into Crunchyroll, a platform with admittedly much better technological side but a way smaller selection and most of it with subtitles only. I’m sure the content will eventually migrate, but it has been about a year of inconsistent offering and abysmal user experience. If you can’t give an experience that’s better than what you’re acquiring, can you please just leave it alone?

Get AnimeLab team to fix your app. Ever since Funimation purchased AnimeLab I’ve been hoping they’d actually get that team to fix their streaming app & also update their website to allow older smart TVs access but they haven’t. I watch most of my shows on Crunchyroll now since Funimation is such a pain to use. When watching via google chromecast the app seems to load next episodes at the time stamp of the previous episode you just finished, meaning it loads it at the end credits instead of at the start of the new episode. Their website doesn’t allow older smart tv browsers to access their site either, only brand new models. Meaning you’ll need to spend a few grand just to have their app on your tv or you’ll need to use Apple TV of Google Chromecast if your smart tv is over 2years old. If they simply had the AnimeLab team to fix/update their system I feel like things would be so much better.

Barely functional app. I struggle to select the videos I'd like to watch, the layout makes it so difficult to maneuver. Mature settings I can't change except go to Funimation website which defeats the whole point of the option even being there. What casting can't switch between languages, even when I changed my prefer or when I'd watch it on my phone in the preferred language the video just uses whatever is the default for the video whether it would be Japanese or English dubbed. Can't even access my animelab account which was transferred over due to my password not being up to standard but they won't let me change my password. I can't believe this is being advertised as an app and it makes money when it doesn't or barely works.

WE WANT ANIMELAB BACK. From hearing the news about animelab ultimately shutting down and moving its viewers to funimation I have constantly had issues and complaints. Animelab was clean, easy and very fast to use where as funimation is basically the complete opposite of that. Animelab worked as good or even better than netflix in a sense where it played almost instantly after clicking an episode or movie whereas funimation takes around a good 5 minutes just to load a single episode and glitches and pauses throughout the whole thing. Its no different to when I watched on dodgy online websites, where it takes ages to load, only difference being that im paying monthly for it.

Wouldn’t say it’s the worst but,. Funimation, you are so petty. I’m watching demon slayer, and the entertainment district arc has tons of episodes now (up to ep8), but episode 4 is still premium and has been for at least a month. I understand making it premium for about a week after release or until another episode is made but this is too far. There is a reason why most of the reviews are one star. You are disrespecting your customers that watch with ads and without premium by doing this, and making us sit through at least like 12 ads (in the beginning alone) just to watch one episode.

Two major problems. UI and scrolling through the app interface is a problem, however it’s definitely not my biggest worries of the app. The main problem is the abysmal quality of the actual viewing of anime. As a premium subscriber, no matter what I do I can’t maintain a constant 1080p resolution for more than a minute. Switching the quality to high doesn’t seem to do anything either and remains on the auto setting. I tried to work my way around this by instead downloading all the eps at 1080p to watch. However after downloading multiple eps I see another app breaking mistake. The subtitles were completely delayed by 20 seconds or more. These are major problems that the app needs to address, especially after the take down and destruction of AnimeLab, an app where I had no complaints with still using.

Shockingly bad. Even if you ignore the slow loading, random errors when performing actions and bad artwork aspect ratio for shows the user experience design is pretty poor, just one example - if you browse through anime by genre (Genre > Fantasy > scroll and pick an anime) you can return to the previous screen to continue browsing it forces you back to the main menu and you have to start from the start of the list. The app screams of doing the bear minimum to tick a box rather than putting effort into making something good for their users. The only good thing I can say is that once you get through the bad menus the actual streaming aspect does seem to work fine.

Terrible Service - Will Be Unsubscribing If Not Resolved. I am paying for a subscription to Funimation exclusively to watch DBZ. For the past 2 days it isn’t working. It just brings an error message saying “something went wrong.” I’ve tried on multiple devices and internet connections as well as clearing cache/logging in and out. Nothing works. This service is broken. It is unacceptable to have a paid service that doesn’t function. Funimation address this issue immediately as I have read of this happening to others also. If not resolved I will unsubscribe and contact you further for a refund considering I can’t use the service I have paid for.

Absolutely garbage. You have to watch 5 30 second ads for one episode, and everything is “only for plus subscribers”. Seriosly, do you expect everyone to pay a full subscription for pure garbage? The navigation is sooo buggy, to the point where i have to press 20 buttons to get to the description of an anime. Furthermore, the playstation 4 version of the app just plain doesn’t work, it wont let me see any of the anime. Why did they get rid of animelab? Im not saying animelab was really good, but in comparison to this thing you call a streaming service, it was heaven. All i wanted to do was watch anime with no problems, it just ruined my morning. To anyone wanting to download this peice of actual garbage, just dont, and to the developers; please fix your “streaming service” or just remove it.

The absolute worst. Unfortunately they brought AnimeLab and completely monopolised Australian anime streaming services. It’s disgusting that you have to pay for Crunchyroll separately even though Funimation owns it. My internet speed is good yet on the PS5 with a 4K SONY TV I have to wait 20 to 40 minutes because the show stops halfway through or the quality drops to 480p. And my brother has the same issues with the Series X as well as other friends report the same issues. There are so many issues, I really wish we could all boycott but they have us at a catch 22 if you don’t watch on Funimation the only place to turn is illegal downloads or miss out completely. If the staff who owned/worked at AnimeLab see this please come back 💛

Just use Crunchyroll. Funimation is such a bad app, after the switch over from animelab to funimation it's gotten much much harder to watch anime movies and series since most of the time it's on crunchyroll and when it isn't I usually just end up pirating them. Funimation has disgustingly long loading times and the shows aren't even worth watching if I have to look at a white squiggly thing twirl on my screen for 10 MINUTES before I can watch a 20 minute video. Pirating websites literally have way better loading time. And with the recent anouncement that crunchyroll has bought animelab, it is 1 billion percent better to just start using crunchyroll and buy the membership.

Fine, but should be better. For one thing, I know that ads are important and all. But when you get 5 ads in a row, and it happens 4 times trying to watch a 20 minute anime, it’s a real pain. Another problem is that, for some series, you can find them but they won’t have any episodes available (an great example is Re:Zero). There are also times where, for some reason, episodes for a series will mostly be available in Japanese with subtitles, but randomly one or two, out of say 12, will only be available in English. I really hope that these problems get fixed. It can be a good app, and I have had a subscription for it, which does get rid of the excessive amount of ads, but it still has the other problems

Worst streaming service. I’m one of the people that came from AnimeLab after they were bought out by Funimation and after being a user of AL and Crunchyroll, Funimation is the absolute lowest tier for a streaming service. My biggest critique is that the UI is terrible and janky. The other apps are smooth when clicking into a episode and casting it to a chromecast but Funimation somehow managed to botch that. It takes a solid 10-15 seconds for it to finally cast until you’re met with their incessant intros (which no other service does) and even then there’s still problems. The one that really bugs me is that dub is the default option, which is fine, but now you can’t change it. I’ve tried multiple times on multiple episodes/shows to change it from the dub, by going from ‘uncut’ to ‘simulcast’ and nothing works. So now all the shows I would watch without hassle on AnimeLab are a pain to watch and there’s no option for no dub. TLDR; dl crunchyroll or find another service. Don’t download Funimation.

Complete waste of money. This app is simply a joke and I cannot understand how a company as large as Funimation has managed to create the single worst streaming application in existence. I never thought Animelab was particularly astounding but compared to this garbage it was infinitely better. Animelab played episodes without freezing every 20 seconds, requiring me to delete and redownload the app to fix. Animelab subtitles were always in sync with the visuals. Animelab’s settings were easy to access and didn’t require visiting Funimation’s internet brower (seriously? we’re still doing this in 2022?) to adjust maturity settings. This app looks and functions like it’s a project of first year university students. I just can’t believe that something could run this poorly. Where is my subscription money even going? What’s the point in acquiring anime if the app is so rancid that I can’t watch it? I’ve been trying to watch my show for half an hour now and no matter how many times I delete the app, clear my history, whatever, I keep running into technical issues that literally prevent me from watching anything. It’s been months of this and nothing has changed. My subscription money is moving straight to Crunchyroll. Good riddance.

Not worth it. After the bungled rollout and sudden changeover from animelab to funimation I was skeptical this was going to be a good thing...lo and behold, not a good thing. Funimation's service is worse in every possible way. The app is buggy and poorly optimised, searching often leads to no results when titles are in the library elsewhere, playback is slow or out of sync and often doesn't remember my preferred settings or where I am up to in an episode/series. Not being able to mark episodes as being watched, or importing watch history from animelab makes this entire process even more cumbersome. Not only that, but after migrating from Animelab and wishing to cancel the premium subscription (that was a completely unavailable option to me in app, in App Store subs, or even through the actual website). I was then told by customer service that they couldn't cancel my sub on their end because of a third party payment option... my card was, and still is, valid with animelab, and so it's now MY fault and I need to tell MY bank to cancel these payments because my card data failed to migrate properly during this mess FUNI created? I did like Funimation, but I really don't anymore. All of this has been in complete and total disregard for us anime consumers and then we're to blame when it doesn't suit them. Don't waste your time or your money. It's the Internet, go find your content elsewhere and you'll be better off.

Worst app DONT DOWNLOAD. So I had AnimeLab for years and never had an issue and when they decided to move over to Funimation I was quite skeptical about it I downloaded the app and it was full of bugs so I kept using AnimeLab. Until they made the complete switch I stopped watching for months while still paying for my subscription because i had hope they would fix this app but unfortunately coming back it’s still buggy and can’t even connect to my Chromecast or smart tv! What’s the point of paying for something you can’t even use this to me is an important issue that these app developers don’t care about and they have completely lost my loyalty….. as I’m typing this I’m downloading crunchyroll

Okay so ignoring the stars for a second…. This app is great, the service is reasonable and honestly the range is greater then many other services. I’d say funimation would par with Crunchyroll but if you think about it… Crunchyroll take from funimation stock, hense the funimation credits before most anime’s. If you pay for Netflix then you shouldn’t have a problem with this services premium as it’s as cheap as Amazons prime reaching a max of $7. Thanks guys idk why the reviews are so bad. People need to be more understanding 🤦🏻

You guys desperately need a UX designer!. I subscribed to the service because I wanted to watch an old anime (Initial D). The instructions to get the free trial didn’t work. So I end up paying for the subscription without even trying the service. Then downloaded on my Apple TV and what a painful experience it is to find the anime on that app! The search is only on one location, if you don’t add it to the queue, I couldn’t see the list of episodes. Also, switching language is plain dumb! You need to get out of the current execution, then go to the list and switch the language, when it restarts, it restarts the video! For whatever reason it keeps switching from Japanese to English audio! This is just the basics! The lack of features such skip intro or play next episodes doesn’t exist! To play next, I need to manually go through the credits and hit next… On the positive side, I haven’t experienced buffering or connection issues.

List of issues. Streaming will randomly skip a part of the download so you have to skip a second a few times an episode. Downloads very slowly compared to EVERY other video service I have used. Downloads will download with no subtitles or having them out of time by a few seconds. Painful interface. When clicking next episode will sometimes send you to a 1 minute clip of a random episode instead of what you want. These are just some of the things I have experienced in the short time I have used this. It is the worst app I have ever used, just a downgrade from anime lab. The ONLY reason to use this app would be the exclusive shows it has.

App review. Clunky and dysfunctional missing many features that quite frankly are industry standard, horrible at remembering what you are doing and honestly a pain to use. Having switched from anime lab that was run by a small team to this is just ridiculous seeing as you are an international company. You really need to sort yourselves out from the app not remembering you were watching a video to the laggy interface it’s disappointing. Get a skip intro and outro button, fix your apps history issues and maybe have a graphic designer do some work on that pretty unappealing UI. Not to mention you ask us to subscribe then want us to pay to buy some shows? Get with the times or you’ll continue to loose the loyal subs from anime lab to Netflix.

Please fix this app. The app itself is great.. except for needing to close it between episodes 2 or 3 times to get buffering to work. Mobile or console this still happens. The continue watching feature struggles sometimes to actually keep up with what episode you’re at and sometimes thinks you’re still where you were last time you opened the app Also my last point is the time stamps, I do not know if I’m missing something, but so far nothing I’ve watched has any of the following- skip intro, skip recap and skip credits? This is an app that is going to get continued use, may as well do it the right way no?

Amazing catalogue, horrible in every other regard. The only reason I use and pay for Funimation is their large catalogue of shows streaming services such as Crunchyroll does not have, but the UI is very frustrating to use and there are plenty of permanent bugs. To name a few I keep experiencing, permanent low quality streaming regardless of subscription and internet, subtitles sometimes not showing up or being delayed, the pause/play button freezing after using it a few times and many more. I would recommend to only use this to catch a few shows not available elsewhere but don’t use it as your main anime streaming service.

Most watched in our house.. This is fast becoming the most watched sub in our house. The only criticism I have is that each member in our house can’t have their own account without having to pay for another subscription. As with most streaming apps, we each have our own account to use through the one app, would be amazing to also have that here as well. As it is, if I’m watching one in my room and my kid is watching another in the lounge room, it interrupts what each of us is watching during episode change overs.

AnimeLab was better. I used to watch Anime on AnimeLab but when I found out that AnimeLab was closing down, I was devastated because: 1. I had to download a WHOLE NEW APP And 2. I was scared that what episode I’m on wouldn’t save and guess what, it didn’t I hate Funimation and I can’t even watch the stuff I was watching on AnimeLab because it says that it’s only available to premium plus subscribers only!! I’ve also read the other reviews and them talking about how you have to watch like 8-12 ads just to even start to watch an episode. I am not proud of the designers. I do could give Funimation a 0 star review, I would. This app needs to be fixed ASAP otherwise you’re gonna keep getting reviews like this and you will no longer have as many people getting the Funimation app. AnimeLab was more of a success because Funimation has just upset multiple people. If you haven’t noticed, AnimeLab has better reviews than Funimation so if you wanna get ur reviews up than start to do better and make Funimation more like AnimeLab but better.

Good but could use a couple of upgrades.. I used to have funimation before switching to animelab so I could watch hunterXhunter and some other stuff. Funimation was a good app and so was animelab only now they both kinder well not bad but not great. Funimation ever since joining with animelab has become a lot more glitchy and slow. Still good apps only funimations slow. Both apps being connected are good as there are lots more available shows. If some things get sorted out I’m sure they both be good. Cause as long as they connected I have access to both and I can find majority of shows I want, unlike before.

Everything is only available to premium members. I already knew Funimation was on the crappier side of the streaming apps, knowledge which was built from past experiences. I hadn't watched anime in a while and was looking forward to rewatching Naruto, but when I downloaded AL I was notified of the migration. Ok, no big deal, surely it won't be too bad. I didn't have high expectations, especially since before I went on my anime hiatus a lot of content on AL was becoming premium-only. Downloaded Funimation, what do you know, the entirety of Naruto is premium-member only. That's fine I can watch something else. Still premium-member only. I don't like to get personal when arguing, but this app is a disappointment, the loading is clunky and overall trash. Big letdown.

Please too many add's just read the text. The 4 stars are VERY VERY Generous. 3 stars for all the awesome anima but….. THE ADD'S. Ok I understand need the add's for more Profit in take so you can make the app better and all but this is just going way to fare. I keep getting 5 (COUNT THEM) 5 ADD'S WHEN I JUST WANT TO RELAX I LITERALLY HAVE TO WATCH 5 ADD'S. Please just make it 1-3 add’s and a small chance for 2 and even smaller for 3 but not too small. Please this will make the app so much better than is already is, if you didn’t realise if you keep tha add’s 3 and lower this means more people will keep using the app instead of deleting it please dont just look at this text and think that it’s a waist of time. To make a good profit in business you have to listen to the people and this is what most of the people want - your local spider man

Improvement is needed.. Compared to Animelab, Funimation doesn’t come close. First of all, the subtitle issue. Why make it so you have to enable them for every single episode? It’s redundant and irritated. There are so many things that can be improved upon, the ability to skip intro and outro would be a good start and possibly adding separate profiles. My partner and I both use my account, making it annoying to sift through both our shows to find what I want to watch. The “queue” is another annoying function that does not work correctly. I can’t see over half of what is in my list. I much prefer Animelabs. Overall, it’s okay however there are many more things that need to be fixed and things that need to be straight up changed or removed.

Thinking about leaving. I have to sit through 4 ads just to watch an anime, then it’s starts the anime intro but after the intro is another 4 ads, by the time I’ve started my anime; I’ve sat through 8-12 ads. To make matters worse, the skippable ads are usually 20-30 seconds, but the un-skippable ads are 2 minutes long! That is not it; for no ads you have to pay $8 a month; just for no ads, this is utterly shameful and the quality is trash, I’m only here for the anime’s, not the ads. The quality is also trash. Finally, To go 10secs forwards or back you have to press this SPECIFIC spot on the screen to do that, it’s NOT convenient at all. I’ve thought about leaving many times. So to conclude this, what I would like to see is: . Less ads .less money to pay for no ads .Better quality .more convenient I don’t recommend this app to anyone reading this, it is a waste of time and money And also you need a premium account to finish watching anime’s?! WHY?! Its very disrespectful. You should be ashamed

Cannot explain how much I despise this app. I literally cannot put into words how much I hate this app! I was forced to use it when AnimeLab was dissolved, and I did not expect any app or service to be this frustrating. Picture this: you’ve had a long hard day at work & you come home looking forward to watch some subtitled anime. But when you chrome cast it switches to dub. Okay let’s try changing the language settings. Chrome cast. No difference. Read through every reddit and website in the entire internet to find a solution as to why it won’t chrome cast in subbed when it literally says language is Japanese. I email the team & they literally tell me just click to change the language settings. Like I haven’t already tried! I’m switching to Crunchyroll once this month is up. If they respond to this post or help me to fix it I might consider staying with them. AnimeLab didn’t have any problems. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use funimation. I know I’m not the only one having issues with it.

This was a waste of my time. To start off every show I watch has 20-24 ads just for a 20 min show and by the time the ads finish I don’t want to watch it anymore now I can’t bring in as many points bc I have only had this for 2 days but i already hate it and remember why I deleted it in the first place and I’m only using it because I don’t have access to the show I want to watch anywhere else plus half the time it just resets my progress whoever created this app should be fired and disappointed at the disgrace of an app they have created they should have just stayed with anime lab at least the ads where good I’m deleting it as soon as I can

Terrible App Design. The design of this app so bad I don’t even know where to start. Very hard to do basic things. Design makes it hard to find interesting stuff on the home page (They should’ve just made the home page like what Animelab had). The genre list is missing a lot of genres (e.g. mystery) and the sort-by system is also missing a lot of options (e.g. letting us sort by top rated). Also, when watching an episode why the frigg is the skip episode button so close to the fast forward for 10 sec button? The amount of times I accidentally hit skip instead of fast forward is infuriating. I really think the design team should take a look at the app design of other streaming services. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because surprisingly the app is easier to navigate and find shows than the website. At least on the app it is easier to filter through shows and browse. The website also lags like crazy. I know my internet is not the problem because I have absolutely no issues using my other streaming subscriptions but on Funimation it took me over 3 hours to watch a 2hr movie because I kept having to reload the page because it was lagging or just decided to stop loading altogether.

Unusable. Just tried to open anime lab found out I had to use this new app. I go to log in which was its own struggle. Once I finally do I go to watch one punch man which is apparently now mature audiences only. I need to go to the website to change my settings. The website says I have to reset my password which wasn’t strong enough. So it takes for ever for the email to reset it to come through. When it does I continue this tedious process and reset my password but oh no “something went wrong and i cannot reset my password at this time”. So I guess I just can’t watch my show that I paid $50 for the year to watch. How can this app be so bad yet they purchased AnimeLab which wasn’t good but at least worked!

A significant downgrade. Had an Animelab account until they were bought out by these guys. Downloaded the app only to find it extremely unintuitive. The windows that appear when you select anime cant be closed by tapping outside of them, only on the small x up top. And the scrolling randomly switched between either the whole page moving, or only the episode list which only takes up a third of the page. This felt like a serious downgrade from how Animelab was setup. Now that ive installed the latest iOS update, trying to play a video causes the app to crash. Ive cancelled my subscription and even when the crash is fixed wont be coming back.

Congrats, you’ve made quite possibly the worst streaming app available.. The fact that you genuinely expect people to pay for your services is laughable. Paying premium rates for an app that constantly has to buffer, almost constant playback errors and searching errors, adding shows to the queue just for them to literally disappear, restarting anime’s that you’ve gone HUNDREDS of episodes into and to top it all off, chrome cast is almost impossible to use on my iPhone 12. You recently acquired AnimeLab (superior in every way possible) so I suggest take on the employees that designed their app, that way you may actually provide the service you expect people to pay for.

Review. Guys Funimation is really good you forgot it’s like Netflix u have to subscribe to get bet quality that’s why there are so many adds😩

Login problems. Hi I have already paid and my next payment is not due until 2024 and my crunchy roll payment is due in September of 2023 But I’m unable to login Please fix this problem

Funimation app and general optimization is terrible.. Their apps are terrible and even on the browser version it’s extremely buggy. Subscription is a total waste of money even if you like all their content , because the process of watching it just ends up being frustrating and unenjoyable.

Lovin it!. My only desire for it is that you can use it in Picture and Picture mode on IPhone

Bad so many ads and with premium it says error cannot load like 10 times before half the episodes. Even though I got premium I gotta reload each episode again and again along with the app being poorly put together compared to most other streaming services I don’t suggest using it especially if your not buying premium bc then there’s 50 ads a episode of whatever your watching along with most shows needing premium

Bad app. App does not launch. Just closes - have deleted and re downloaded the app - no change - contacted app support and no help or fix offered.

Really good. It has all of my favourite anime but if it’s possible can you add spy x family and chainsaw man ?

Hate it. I’ve been looking everywhere for a free app or website to watch demon slayer tho this one was in fact free it only showed season one and I could watch the episode I wanted because before I could even watch it I would get and add and it would kick me out I don’t recommend

Really annoying. There’s like 2 new adds after 5 seconds and it’s really annoying like can you make it better so the people without premium can enjoy the show without alot of adds.

Not so good. App keep crashing or encountering error. You have to scroll again the episodes from the start if you encountered an error. You cannot just pickup where you left off… so frustrating

WASTE OF MONEY!. I recently got the app and paid for premium and it has so far Been a complete wast of my money the app constantly freezes and crashes - loading times are terrible- my opinion go get crunchyRoll at lest there service works very beyond disappointed with this all I expected better from Funimation

App not working. I can’t do a password reset won’t let me in email can’t log in and it’s renew my subscription without me ever using it what do I dooo hellp me

Sooooo slow. Brand new iPhone 12, really good wifi, and this app still runs terribly. At least this one loads, unlike my Funimation app for my smart TV, which won’t even do that. Hey s Funimation incapable of making a passable app? What a joke.

SMH. Why does the app keep crashing sometimes it just won’t load when it does it takes like 10 years I have a premium subscription so I use it on my phone and my Xbox the app crashes or sometimes doesn’t load and this happens a lot to me please fix it

Stupid service. So I go in. Sign up and get 14 days free. Awesome deal right!? Nope! Anywhere I go it plays ads, am I supposed to suffer for 14 days!? You’ve already taken my gd money stop with the ads. Then to top it all off. They’re almost 10 episodes behind what I can get for FREE on the internet. But I figured I would go paid because some of the added app features seemed worth it. Not a chance. This app is not only a waste of time, but a flat out waste of money. Terrible.

I’m paying! Why ads?!. What the hell am I paying for if I have to watch a fudging ad before an episode?

I don’t recommend. I tried making an account but it didn’t work so to be honest, if you want to spend money on a good anime app, do it on Crunchyroll it’s just better

The worst. If you plans to pay for it then it would be great but if you gonna use as free user then it the worst app,.

Fantastic library of subbed and dubbed content. Great app that has gotten better over time. 100% worth a paid subscription

Wouldn’t work at all. I had a subscription and tried to watch anime through the app and website and it wouldn’t ever let me. I tried emailing and it has been months without any contact from them or reimbursement. I would not ever recommend Funimation, if you chose to use it, don’t the customer service is a joke and they won’t reimburse you for anything. Don’t waste your time.

Maturity level. So I don’t know how to adjust my maturity I’m on my iPad and I’m aloud to watch these movies but I can watch them because of 5he maturity level so can you make it easier to thank you

only for premium accounts. i tried this app before and it only works for premium meaning i have to pay to watch anime, get a grip people. crunchyroll is better

Great. I love this app but the subtitles are off timing when I download videos.

Advertises ability to download as premium feature. I PAY for this feature. Yet it’s unavailable. Are you serious?!

love. they updated the layout n it’s cuter now. nice variety of anime

No Picture in Picture. Picture in picture is not available for the app and it’s annoying when you want to watch anime and probably browse some thing at the same time. This app needs a lot of work, either merge the content with Crunchyroll or improve the app. There’s some anime that’s dubbed in Funimation, but not in crunchy roll. just merge the content if you don’t want to put any more work into the Funimation app. I also can’t cast the Funimation app to any of my devices from my phone. This app is very annoying.

Works flawlessly across many devices!. I can’t see why so many people are complaining. I have used Funimation on many devices from my iPad, smart tv, Amazon firestick and occasionally my smartphone. I pay for the cheapest membership and never have I experienced troubles with this service.

Content is fine, but this is a horrible app. For a premium service, somebody needs to work on the app. It is horrible. we were hoping to watch demon slayer on our Apple TV but nothing will load and all I’m getting is a red circle with a cross through it. The service costs $12.99 per month. It is utterly inconceivable that this company can’t fix the app. is it any wonder that piracy is thriving? we are canceling the service, for sure. Get it together, you imbeciles.

Pls fix. I have a premium membership and whenever I try to watch a show or episode that I downloaded the subtitles are always delayed be like 30 seconds

Very glitchy. I like the fact that it’s free but there are too many ads and it’s glitchy

Great. It works super well although I’ve only had it for maybe a week and I haven’t used it a crazy amount it seems to work super well.

I’ll pass…. The only thing stopping me from giving it a 1 star is that it has the original dragon ball Nothing else Just dragon ball Other than that it’s utter garbage

Money grubbers. You added ADVERTISEMENTS to paying subscribers....... Shame on you capitalists

Don’t waste you’re time on this app. Okay my first time opening this app I had gotten very exited! The first thing i went to watch was “My hero academia” and it was going good intill season 2 it kept saying for premium only so i couldn’t watch so I got really disappointed. To add up you have to watch like 3,4 or even 5 adds. Don’t waste your time and hopes on this.

Subtitles dont load correctly in downloded videos. When you download a japnese episode with english cc thr subtitles appear several seconds later

Bug. Every old anime like one piece just keep crashing

Good, but could be better. The app is great, the only problem is that basically everything is locked by premium and you basically need to pay money to just watch an anime that has 10 episodes and 1 season. The whole reason why I downloaded this app is to see all the animes that I wanted to rewatch, but all of them either only had English that needed premium, or needed premium for Japanese too. Make some shows free so that a basic Joe can enjoy his anime and not be forced to pay money or feel embarrassed to get his anime on other streaming platforms like Netflix.

desktop website is fine, app isn’t. can’t even log into the app because the password bar doesnt work??? trashy app

Only casts english dubs. I subscribed so I could cast on my TV, but now Funimation only casts the English dub by default when using chromecast, never the Japanese original, completely ignoring user settings. Get it together, Funimation.

Funimation is great!. I have premium plus monthly and I think it’s honestly great. The app can be a little stiff sometimes and the interface is nothing like Netflix’s but it has basically every anime, and in dubbed and it saves progress, recommends episodes, and more. I only think that they should upgrade their interface by making it more smooth and add better security features. Once someone is in your account, they can change your email and password with little to no verification. Also, there is no way to kick someone off your account so chose a secure password and don’t give your account to others. I didn’t have any trouble with ads and the Laptop app is waaaaayyy better by the way.

Was a good app. Funimation was a good app but there is no need to subscribe anymore starting next month (April 2022) all shows will be streamed exclusively on Crunchyroll and 80% existing funimation catalogue titles are moving to Crunchyroll with most of the popular anime already on the Crunchyroll app. I would say this app will be shutdown by the end of the year with funimation working as a dubbing company and putting the titles on Crunchyroll (of course) and on blu-ray. All in all just sub to Crunchyroll.

I have a premium plan and still get adds. I don’t understand why I still get adds while trying to watch shows like mha when i pay the premium plus subscription and have been for the past year.

App dont work. I dont have access to extra and movies so i just going to unsubscribe and leave your broken app.

Horrible streaming site. Not worth it at all, almost none of the shows on here have the complete series, and half of the shows needs premium to either be watched or continued. And it lacks a lot of good shows as well. Not to mention the amount of adds.

It’s lit. I’ve been liking it more then crunchy roll, more options for English.

I wouldn’t waste a penny…. If you want a subscription purchase Crunchyroll, it’s the same company but doesn’t have 10 ads every episode and doesn’t glitch out. This app also has low quality thumbnails, doesn’t have the 10 seconds skip feature and is very buggy

Switch. Hello when are u going to put funemation for everyone and not just premium Accounts?

I enjoyed it. So I see the reviews about adds but for some reason I don’t have any and it has some of my favourite anime dubbed so it gets 5 stars

What the…. This app is pissing me off with the payment and subscription.I just want to watch anime but I guess not……and on top of that an Expensive fee just to watch anime like…who has the time to pay for that like 80 dollars or 90 dollars to watch anime for a month 😬I’m not paying I’m sorry but I’m just not and kinda not worth your money

Could be better. It's an okay app, but it would be better I everyone had access to every anime instead of only people who pay the subscription, an if it had less ads every time there is ads

Good Luck Watching a Whole Show. They have a good amount of Dubs which I like, however that’s about all I like with this streaming service. The app freezes frequently so you cannot watch anything until this subsides, which unfortunately does not have a time frame; sometimes days where I cannot watch anything. There are also some episodes in shows that do not load at all so you need to skip that episode and hope that it wasn’t too important to the story line. I have the subscription which means I should not have ads however sometimes I do. With all of these issues comes the same response from customer service- Delete and re download the app. WHAT? That does not fix the issue. I would try this app out! But maybe don’t pay because there doesn’t seem to be a reason to.

DONT DO THE FREE TRIAL. Something is seriously wrong with this website and app. There’s been scandals about this so I know this company knows how much trouble people have with cancelling there subscriptions!! The website just so conveniently glitches when it comes to the “cancel subscription” button and survey. They were supposed to charge me 14 days after the free trial but they literally charged me on the 13th day at 9:00…THATS NOT 14 FULL DAYS? Also the free trial is only for the premium subscription AND WHEN I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO CANCEL IT JUST AUTOMATICALLY PUT ME ON A BASIC PLAN. Like dude please I’m not rich leave me alone. I’m not just complaining to complain but seriously once you subscribe to this you’re in their shackles forever.😭Not sure what else to do I’ve watched tutorials, sobbed in my pillow, punched my computer just give me back my 9 dollars Jesus. Just watch anime illegally not worth it at all.

Bug in Japanese dub play. The show I’m having bug problems with is Yu Yu Hakusho. My app audio is by default set to Japanese with English subtitles. The show IS available is Japanese and English languages so licensing is not the issue. The problem pops up when I stream to my smart tv from my phone. It will play the Japanese on my phone but when I stream to the tv it switches it to English with no option to change it to Japanese in the “audio” option of the episode. If I just let the English episode play out and auto-play the next episode it automatically switches back and forth with the two languages every other episode. I just would like to watch it in the original Japanese with subtitles but this bug has been very frustrating. I’ve reset everything on the phone, tv, deleted and reinstalled the app… nothing has fixed this.

Bugs and some suggestions. This app has some bugs where new episodes for shows I’m watching don’t show up until i close app and restart a few times, another one is after I finish an episode instead of disappearing out of my continue watching queue it will remain there with the bar about 3/4 of the way through even after I watched it all the way through and tried multiple app closes. Some features that’ll be useful for this app would be a refresh feature of the main screen like how there used to be where you can just pull down on the screen and refresh. Another feature to add would be to add a way to remove shows that you stopped watching from your continue watching queue instead of having to click the last episode in the series and skip to the end. Overall the app looks nice but is riddled with inconveniences.

Lawsuit coming your way. I’ve been charged for 8 months in a row despite cancelling in the spring and ignored this entire time despite several efforts to end this. I’ve repeatedly asked for this to stop and for this company to respect me and they’ve failed continuously. I’ve spoken to multiple lawyers and my personal lawyer, they all say I have a strong enough case to send my child to Harvard and retire 30 years early should this happen again and here we are. I will be suing this company and I doubt I’d happily settle for anything less than what I deserve. This is the last time I’ll be doing this and I’m calling my lawyer tomorrow. She’ll be happy to take the case, we’ll both have a pretty penny to spare soon. Do not trust this company or give them any of your information. HBO and crunchy roll are better and they actually respect your need to cancel.

Not Compatible With Apple Billing or Roku. I love Funimation but I have to give the app 1 star due to the difficulty of renewing a subscription via Apple's subscription page. In the past, whenever I have renewed my subscription through Apple, the streaming app on my Roku would say that I needed to be subscribed...which I already am. This time around I have renewed my subscription via Funimation's official website. The problem is, I can no longer see when my next billing date is. Funimation doesn't even email you when your billing date is approaching. So the only way for me to know when I get billed is check past transactions from Funimation in my bank account. Too tedious. Your tech team really needs to work with Apple and Roku. I should be able to enjoy my paid services on my Roku device without all the fuss.

Getting Worse. I have problems with certain content not playing when using the app, but it does work when streaming through the website. Then other times, even though I have a Premium Membership so I don’t have to watch ads, every now and then certain content will have ads (like it’s bugged) The thing I’m most disappointed in is that Funimation bought Crunchyroll which would make you think you that your paid Funimation membership would get you Crunchyroll content, but the opposite is truue. Everything is being migrated to Crunchyroll so you have to buy a membership their now. On top of that, even though I pay to not see ads, their is a Crunchyroll ad before every episode I watch. It’s really annoying.

Mad. I tried starting my email and password up and I also made a different password and it says that I can’t login anymore. If you like you can try to get my number but I don’t want to stay in here cause people are going to get my number anyways I am trying to get into your app and I can’t and now I don’t know how I’m going to watch anime and I’ve already did Crunchyroll free subscription thing and they’re paying money that I don’t even have. I’m doing your one year thing because I’m working on getting money if I can try and then second of all there is no other than this one that has good anime, so please, I beg of you find my number try to get it and help me with my problem I beg of you

Not worth it if you use the free version. Each episode of what I watch has 4 commercial breaks around 2 1/2 minutes long nothing bad but it’s the same 3 or four commercials so if ur commercial break had 6 adds most likely you will have to watch the same ad twice and over whatever show ur watching this becomes very annoying I just want different ads is all and somtimes the commercials will glitch and stop so I have to shut off app and watch them all over again or it will not save my place in the show and I have to watch 6 ads again then it will play right before a commercial break and I have to watch the exact same 6 ads again you could watch the same ad 4 times in a row and it gets very annoying

Bug plz fix. When I go login it says user not found but I’ve had an account for months and I’ve been watching it daily on my Xbox but when I got a new phone everything transferred fine, it even says that I have a subscription to it in the App Store but Funimation never let me login and it doesn’t let me buy a new membership when I click on it in the app it just says purchase can’t be completed but it doesn’t even pop up the thing for me to pay just loads and pops up that ur can’t be done and I’ve tried it multiple times different days, redownloaded the app everything but plz fix love you

Shows vs app use ability. This app has a ton of shows for every genre you want. Absolutely amazing. However! In the last 5 months the app and its functions have went down hill and bad. After you watch a series you have the option to go back and mark as un watched. Well it doesn’t work unless you ( un watch every episode 4 or more times). And even then when you exit the app and reopen it you have to do it all over again. And of course when new episode of your favorite show drops half the time it says the show is unavailable. And that can last a few hours to a few days. I have had this app for 8 years now and always loved it. But these new updates made it absolute trash. Until they fix all these bugs I’m canceling my subscription. Please fix these problems people.

Pretty bad tbh. I downloaded this app hoping to watch some good anime and some dubs that I was excited for. I am even paying a subscription for it right now. It is NOT worth it. Half of the shows I want to watch I can’t watch. These shows have new episodes coming out and whenever I click on the new episode, it just gives me an error message and tells me to retry. I have tried practically everything to fix this, but nothing ever changes. I don’t get any ads which is nice, and I can choose to watch the dub, but what is the point of any of that when I can’t even watch the episode I want? This app is practically useless, and I have lost count of the amount of times it has glitched out or wouldn’t let me watch an episode(or even an entire anime) or all the other technical glitches. This app is basically a scam.

Downloading for offline. I love how there are different types of anime that shows here but, offline downloading is not great whatsoever the subtitles are late and some does not even show up I’ll watch the episode again when I have service and after watching downloaded episodes compared to the streaming there are a lot of missing content with the subtitles part. Also had issues when I wanted full screen it would not allow me to put it full screen so I get stuck watching it on landscape mode instead of the portrait tilted for full screen need to fix this for those who travels, doesn’t have internet and want to download to watch. Thank you, otherwise I love the app for streaming just fine

Request. I love anime and I really enjoy this app. There are a couple things I would like to see improvement on simply to make it an awesome app. 1. There needs to be some way for a user to contact the developer within the app. This may actually be Apple’s fault though, so it’s only a small mark against the app. 2. I would love to see a filtered view of my favorites. I am a week to week follower of a lot of current animes and I also have quite a few old favorites that I enjoy rewatching occasionally. There are currently no available filters that might allow me to better sort through my list of favorites. Possible filters that I can see as being useful would include ‘Recently Updated’ ‘Anime Type’ ‘Favorites’ ‘Most Recently Added’ etc….

About not finding data 😐😐. So I got this app on my phone 5-6 months ago so I can watch anime a school with more dubs and yes I don’t want to read so it does have good anime and all that. I like watching trough Funimation but at some point I was trying to watch one anime I was getting into one morning, and then one morning it tells me it could find any data, go offline, retry, and log out so I tap on retry until I stopped so I used one of my family member phone cuz I had my account on their’s phone but it tells me the same thing but it never tells me on my ps4 so I tried to do something but nothing works so plssssss fix it I need it fixed I can watch anime with out waiting hours to go home and watch for a little bit on my PlayStation.

STOP WITH ALL THE ADS 😞. I honestly love funimation but.. I think that’s there are to many ads there should only be 2 ads and in those ads there’s even more which is why I don’t use funimation a lot because there’s a lot of ADS. If you’re gonna add ads at least use different ones I get tired of seeing the same ads 24/7 I’ve seen them so much that I’ve remembered everything they’ve said . Also I think that you should make some on the anime episodes premium, once I get to the good part I’ve been waiting for it says you have to be premium (idk if I’m saying it right lol) anyway.. what’s the point in making the beginning of the episodes not premium but the rest premium 😒. I am think about stop using funimation and going to Crunchyroll , please respond <3

Not all anime shows are available for free…. Overall the anime themselves are amazing. However, my main concern is that whenever there is a certain anime I want to watch, a majority of the shows on this app aren’t available to be watched unless you are to go premium. A lot of people including myself, don’t have the money to pay for premium. I understand that you need the money, but this is a little overdone. I also suggest that you keep the ads but decrease the amount of them. Overall, this is a pretty decent app, and if you have the patience to go through ads and the money to pay for episodes I would recommend this app. But please try to get rid of the feature that locks episodes to almost every anime on this app. Thank you ☺️❤️

Few problems that need to be address. This is a good app to watch animes like “Demon slayer”, “Dragon ball z” and more however their are mainly two issues i have with the app with one with the video and two reseting passwords. For the video part i feel like their are way to much ads per episode which is usually 3-5 ads per episode which i find annoying as i have to wait a while for the ads to pass only for the same thing to happen for another episode so if you could reduce the number of ads per episode it would make things better. The next part is probably just me but i recently forgot my password for my account so i tried forget password which could have worked If, it didnt keep saying “their was a issue reseting my password please try again” which i did over and over again but it said the same thing but if theirs nothing wrong with it then its most likely me. This is all i need to say have a good day.

Customer service??. I purchased the $5.99 premium plan through my iPhone but could never get the benefits from it. I searched on many ways to figure out the situation on my own but couldn’t really find anything. When I contacted customer service through email (twice), the first person didn’t help much but when their steps didn’t work I emailed them again and never got a response back. The second person that I emailed was more helpful but yet again when I replied to their email because the steps they gave me didn’t help either, I NEVER got a response back! Honestly not worth it if you can’t get ahold of customer service in my opinion. Especially when they say to just reply to the their email to further assist you.

Wish Dubbed Anime was it’s Own Category. I am a big fan of Funimation and Crunchyroll. After it was released that they were going to merge I was actually excited. I wouldn’t have to login to two different apps or have to pay to different subscriptions. However, I haven’t heard any new news and I would really hate to be charged again for the two if they are supposed to be one. I like the anime that they carry but I really wished that their Dubbed anime was its own category like Action or Adventure are. Sometimes I don’t feel like reading subtitles. There is a lot of anime that shows up as dubbed when I look it up but actually isn’t. I’m assuming it’s a glitch? Either way, would really appreciate a news update on the merger and the new category. Thanks!

Great streaming platform just a few flaws. I like Funimation it’s a place with many and various titles to watch, I have a few problems when I try to skip multiple times in a episode or even rewind a few seconds. If I end up doing it over 3-4 times it doesn’t want to load so I have to exit out the episode and start it up again which isn’t a big deal just a minor inconvenience. Also, when I want to watch subbed anime it won’t let me change the language to japanese which is very strange and I can’t seem to find a fix for it and I like subbed so just not being able to access it is a real bummer, which is why I’m giving it a 3 star. Other than those two problems I have no complaints, I would just like those issues to be fixed in the future.

So many ads per 10 minutes. This app is great and all but when I didn’t own the trial for this app I got a ridiculous amount of ads and it was so annoying I couldn’t even watch 10 minutes worth of an episode without 6 ads all in one for 30 seconds and now that I have the trial it’s less annoying but please fix the amount of ads I mean the ads are fine and all but there is way to much ads and not everyone can afford the trials to watch it ad free as it is not cheap but i’m not complaining about the price i’m complaining about how many ads there are in one episode sometimes there’s even 10 ads in one. Don’t get me wrong I love funimation it’s a great app and I love watching

New video quality choices are not very good.. One thing I don’t like about the new app design is the way the video quality choices have been redesigned because the new choices now are just Low, Medium, and High, the app was much better when the video quality choices were actual video quality formats which were 360p, 540p, 720p, and 1080p because those choices made it a lot easier to tell what the actual video quality the video you are watching is playing in but the new choices are not very accurate and they make it much harder to know what the actual video quality is actually being shown at any given moment so I really hope the video quality choices get changed back to the old choices eventually.

Ads. I have always watched anime on Crunchyroll for one big reason…..It has less ads than Funimation. Funimation has an astounding 5 advertisements for you to sit through. What’s even better about these ads is that once you’re finally done with them, and you finally get to start watching your favorite show for 20 seconds, it gives you 5 MORE ADS!!!!!!! Half the time the ads don’t even work and I have to exit the app and reopen it just get the normal five ads. I’ve thought about paying premium to eliminate my big problem, but for Funimation’s operating program to be this messed up means they don’t really care about this part of their company or their fans. The only reason that I gave this a two star rating instead of a one star is because sometimes Crunchyroll doesn’t have an anime I’m looking for so I bear through it “ugh.”

Why Am I Paying 11$ Monthly But I Still Get Ads?. I’ve had Funimation for almost a year and I’ve been happily paying 11$ monthly to watch my favorite Anime's. I think that paying 11$ is worth it but the creators most recently added an ad at the beginning of any anime that I wanted to watch. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s only 5 seconds long, but why is there ads in the first place if I’m paying 11$ monthly? There shouldn’t be any ads at all! I don’t think it makes any sense, but at least it isn’t 10 or more seconds long! I love Funimation and that’s really the only complaint that I have about this app, it’s amazing especially if you want to watch most of your favorite Anime’s in dub & sub!

2nd review. Ok I’m my last review I said there were constant ads and I could barely watch the anime that was fixed well mostly and a lot of the other stuff that I said in my last review to was mostly fixed to but when I got to episode 16 in season 2 it said i need premium to keep watching and I can’t pay that so I would like it if you made it so I can watch all of the anime and not have to use premium to watch it and not everyone including me can pay premium so can you make it so I can watch all of the anime I’m on like all of the seasons and episodes without haven’t to use premium I would like this app a lot better if you got rid of the premium so can you get rid of the premium

Terrible lag and loading times. Love this app as it has so much to offer far as anime movies and shows a lot of dubbed versions as well. Wide range of anime. However there’s been major issues with the app for the past year with lagging and loading issues! It’s been terribly frustrating! It doesn’t have anything to do with my internet connection, I have great internet connection, fast and reliable, plus I live in the middle of the city. I don’t get any issues to any of my other apps I pay for just Funimation that messes up from time to time. Other then these issues it’s a great app! Also! I don’t get ads on this app so I’m not sure what people mean by adds? I pay for this service mayb that’s why no ads?

Its an alright app. The app has a lot of good anime and I do use this app to watch SOME anime and you may be thinking (or not) “why did you bold the word SOME”. And my answer to that would be is that almost ALL OF THE SHOWS ON THE APP ARE LOCKED AND YOU HAVE TO BUY PREMIUM. And I know that the price is $5.99 and mabey im just being a penny pincher but im just trying to watch anime and the people running the app know what they’re doing by locking all of the good anime like demon slayer and ranking of kings. So to sum up my review, the anime that the app provides are all good but almost all of the shows are locked either the anime its self or the English dub though the price for premium is $5.99 wich is a good price, but why lock up all of the good anime, why not have the premium plan be like add free and perks or something like that.

Failure at every turn. This app doesn’t work on mobile or smart TV. On mobile it will fail to load most times you pull up the app. It will forget your watch history and what you had to your que. 5Mo ago there was a patch that states they fixed their chromcast not connecting. Welp I’ve tried to two chromcasts, one Roku and 2 screen mirrors and it doesn’t work. I tried with other apps just to make sure and they all worked fine. The app you can download from your smart tv(I have a Samsung). Let’s you sign in just fine. Then proceeds to get stuck in the loading homepage phase. I left it up 30 minutes and it never finished. Pretty basic app that is basically just cloned now a days and it’s super surprising it doesn’t even function half the time. I wouldn’t download and I’m going to cancel my subscription. Do not pay full price for less than full product people. They profit while we “wait” for what the apps is suppose to do in the first place.

Terrible streaming service.. The service itself is prone to failure. It definitely happens more than any other mobile streaming service I use, which is to say it never happens on any other service, and the UI on the app itself has been broken for over a year. The ability to search for shows via release date and genre is completely broken. While the option is there to search via release date or genre is viewable, when selected nothing is actually brought up to look at just a blank screen. I have had issues in the past also with subscriptions themselves with them not being activated when purchased or even not canceling when canceled. The only thing that could potentially warrant using this service would be the exclusives they offer. Other than this I would strongly advise against using this service.

I hope Funimation reads this. I’ve been having the worst technical issue with Funimation offline viewing downloads. I can listen to the audio using the phone onboard speakers however! When I try to listen to downloads using my AirPods 2nd gen the audio will work for about 20 seconds, become compressed and then go out all together. It makes listening to videos in public or busy areas impossible. If you think it’s the video, it’s not! I can rewind and parts I could hear before Are worse or gone. I take the airpod out and auto will play from the phone, I put airpod back in and the audio will work for a few seconds but quickly lost! I really wish there was a quick easy fix but nothing seems to work! Even the spacial audio function is disabled. I have no idea! It’s been like this for months! I have resolved to quit using downloads! Please help! Or something! Don’t know how you will get ahold of me but I’m sure there is a way!

nearly unusable. while the titles on the app are great, the functionality of the app (in regards to offline capabilities) is AWFUL. disclaimer up top: i mostly download my anime OFFLINE and i have never watched something off the app while connected to the internet. BUT, when i watch: - it does not pause my music automatically - the subtitles for the sub (i watch with japanese audio) lag SO FAR behind i don’t know what’s happening - my phone locks after 2 minutes, when my phone is set to auto-lock so i either have to: turn auto-lock off or keep tapping my screen when it dims i will commend funimation for improving their app somewhat as downloading offline is easier than it used to be, my video plays landscape and not just portrait, and you can download more than 13 videos. but while improvements have been made, this app needs SO much more work to be on par with other streaming apps. using the funimation app is so awful i’ve just completely given up trying to watch offline on my phone, which is how i consume anime 99% of the time - via other apps/services since funimation’s app frustrates me to no end. i hope further improvements can be made so i can watch the funimation exclusive titles i so desperately want to see 😢

Funimation-good. Funimation app-BAD.. Funimation has a fantastic gallery of shows, but the app will only display whatever it feels like loading at any given time. I can only see maybe 15 out of the 40 odd items in my queue because when i try to scroll through them it just reloads and sends me to the top. Some days nothing will load at all and the app will crash on loop. Funimation is absolutely fine on my computer, but the app is a struggle to use every time I open it. Also, I don’t have any issue with ads but I also have a premium sub. I just have an issue with everything else, apparently :\ I almost forgot to mention that it spoiled a whole show for me 🥲 I watched episode 1, let it autoplay to the “next episode” and it sent me to the very last episode instead. Very cool.

Needs improvements. It has a great selection of anime, but still needs a lot of improvements. For one, you can't use Picture in Picture to watch, and as someone who likes to watch anime and draw at the same time on my Ipad, it's pretty annoying. Another issue is not being able to remove watches from continue watching. Some shows I watched are still there and won't leave, or they stay there if I don't watch the OVA (which I usually prefer not to watch.) My final issue is regarding skipping recaps/intros. You can even get a preview while you try to skip so my best bet is skipping by 10 until I've gotten through the intro, something which is pretty tedious to do. Overall, great selection of subbed/dubbed anime but lacks basic show-watching abilities.

Garbage. Their selection of shows are good but, where they fall short is customer service & streaming. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I would have to pause a show to let it buffer in just one episode alone. Eventually I cancelled the subscription. Welp…here I am, months later, still being charged. They didn’t even respond to my customer support requests until weeks after I initially emailed them. And when I told them the issue, they told me it had to be something on Apple’s end. I went to Apple & they told me it was something on their end. Let’s also not forget the fact that in my ‘Subscriptions’ area on my iPhone, it showed that funimation had been expired for a while. So I’ve gone back to Funimation’s customer support to have them delete my account completely & just stop any future charges. I’m so annoyed at their incompetence that I don’t even want a refund.

Why did you merge?!. You all are hands down far better than Crunchyroll. Their customer service is terrible, they almost never add Dub episodes for popular anime, and their whole site is dark and gloomy. You all add dubs in a timely manner, offer a large selection of up to date anime, and the app is bright and actually lively to look at. Even their effort to entice people to switch over to Crunchyroll via free trial has not been successful. Many people cannot even add payment methods to utilize the free trial and their customer service offers no real help on the issue. I’m sure people would have much rather have paid more to keep you all running individually than to have you all merge with them.

Very, very bad platform. Yes, they have a large library including some titles you can’t get on Crunchyroll, but there are a LOT of problems. Let’s list: - slow service: almost every single episode of every anime has to pause for the video to render - default settings: I hate dubs! And so I set my default language to Japanese. Despite this, I find myself having to constantly switch singular episodes over to Japanese because they are set to English. If I go back to an episode list to manually select another, it doesn’t matter if I set the previous episode to Japanese…the next one will be English. In summary, the default setting does nothing. - if I am browsing through a list of shows, click on one, and go back to the main search, it takes me all the way back to the beginning, forcing me to search through it all again. - there is no “recently updated” sections like Crunchyroll has. So I have no idea at a glance what shows are new and if new episodes have been released. - no comments or reviews: honestly, it’s one think I really like about Crunchyroll: reading the other viewer comments. It gives me that community feeling and a heads up on if a show will be good or not. I’m basically using it to watch the shows that are not on C-Roll as quickly as possible then will most likely cancel membership and not pick it up again for a year or longer.

Worst Streaming App Of All Time. It’s a shame there isn’t any other viable options to stream anime available because this app is the absolute worst among all the steaming apps I’ve used . A few highlights where the app fails miserably is the inability to auto play episodes , failing to reliably depend on “my list “ , constant disconnects from casting , never being accurate on what episode was last watched , play and pause being unresponsive, and the more rare but worst is the app just crashing as soon as it launched . There’s countless other issues I could list but at the end of the day there’s no point . This app has been in this constant chaotic state for years with no sign of improvement. But if you are like me and love anime then We’re left to just grin and bear it and look at the suffering this app causes as a price of admission to watch anime .

I like this app. This app is somewhat good. I was using a free plan at first but a couple days later of watching anime with ads I got tired so then I just played for the premium 9$ plan and it’s actually pretty good because I watched the demon slayer Mugen train for free on funimation and I like how this app works and it’s so simple to use. one of the bugs I would like them to fix is when you exit funimation while your watching and when you go back to funimation to the anime you were watching it restarts the whole episode and sometimes skips an episode it gets really annoying sometimes but it doesn’t bother me because it rarely happens. In conclusion I love funimation how it is :D

WAY TO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH THE PREMIUM PURCHASE. so i got the app about a year ago so i watched not even 5 seconds through one episode of something and got a ad and basically every 5 seconds u get a ad so i got premium it was fine then the purchases started messing up for no reason i made a new account and deleted premium on the other account so i got premium on the new account and it kept saying would you like to renew your old subscription for premium on your old account to this new one i clicked yes and it said to go to restore itunes purchases so i did. and when i clicked it it kept saying there was an error and that it wasn’t valid so i restarted the app and that didn’t work i delete and reinstall the app and log in and it still doesn’t work so i would recommend other anime streaming apps.

Some problems but overall good. I decided to try out the app to watch dragon ball or something cause I couldn't find any dubs but i ended up liking the app but for some reason at episode 6 It said there was no english but i didn't think much of it so i went on to episode 7 after i got done with 6 and that one also had no English. In my opinion people should have the chance to have it in what ever language they want or at-least make a setting to change the language of the anime they are watching But one more thing is that theres 21 to 19 ads per episode but overall this app is very good and U recommend it to some people

Good Anime but needs A LOT of work. I payed for a 1 year subscription, not really worth it but they do have some exclusives. But that’s not really the problem, the problem is the app itself. It is very bad, it takes a while for stuff to load and on top of that for weekly shows you just have to check to see if it even comes out on the right day. Even though they updated the user interface it still runs like bad and looks like bad. They make something so simple so complicated for no good reason. After my year subscription is over I am canceling it because they don’t really care to fix it so I should I care to support it. I know one person is not going to brake the Wallet but that is one persons opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

Do not get unless ur premium. Don’t get me wrong, this app is amazing, it’s just some parts need some tweaking. I know y’all need money or something but if ur a person looking to use it for free, do not get it. First, the absurd amount of ads. This app has at LEAST 15 ads per episode. It tried watching My hero academia on this and let me tell you, it is a pain to use. You better hope the app offers only one ad per break because oh boy, ur gonna hate it. Second, the “premium” episodes, I get the need for money, but why are half the episodes behind a paywall? That’s insane for a app that claims “free anime”. Lastly, the video quality. If you have meh to bad internet, the quality drops by 70%. I swear you can count pixels on this thing. Summary: great app, don’t use unless ur going premium

Glitchy. I love this app I watch most of my anime on it but it’s super glitchy. I can’t leave a video paused longer than 5 minutes or it won’t play an I have to close the app. My continue watching is always glitching out with the new episodes brought to the app. I was just logged out of my account for no reason when I tried to play an episode. I’ve had all kinds of issues with this app. Also false information saying something is dubbed when it’s not. Wish these bugs could be fixed an it would be a 5 star rating app but sadly I can only give it 3 stars

ADS. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t completely hate this app, I love all the variety of animes they have and how they have MOST of the episodes, but there are just TOO MANY ADS! I get that it’s for money and stuff but 5 ads ever ten seconds? That’s so unnecessary, it honestly feels like all the ads double the time of the episode! It also makes some people (like me) lose interest because we have little to no patience when it comes to these things. All we wanna do is watch some shows/movies but we get bumbarded with ads ever 5 minutes. It makes It hard to focus and keep watching the show/movie. I’m not saying completely get rid of ads, but just minimize it, maybe to like hulu’s range of ads.

Could be better. I pay for a premium subscription. They’ve charged me twice this month for it. And the app still says they had billing issues. Even before this I’ve tried watching certain things ( demon slayer movie mugen train, etc.) and once I click it it says I need to be a premium subscriber to watch it even tho I already am. It’s annoying. The things I downloaded this app for I can’t even watch. However that brought me to a load of new shows I wouldn’t have watched otherwise. Their library of dubbed anime is extensive and I thoroughly enjoy that. Even when it freezes sometimes and I I have to back out and go back in I don’t mind that. I just want all the anime available to me for what I paid for. Overall it’s an okay app. Ideal if your a dub anime fan for the amount of shows. Just know there are major bugs.

Help. As soon as I got the app I created a free account. I went to watch a show and it told me to change my maturity settings. I went to the webpage for funimation to change the settings as it says to do and I was unable to figure out how. There’s no setting for it anywhere outside of the app. When I attempt to change it in app it tells me again to go to the website. I go to the website I try to watch the show and go to the episode I want to start from, in the website still. I get tired of trying because of the ads I am unable to just skip ahead to a certain episode. I go to the app and attempt to watch it there, and it tells me to get a subscription because apparently I “used all 5 of my free streaming things” I haven’t watched one episode yet. If I could figure out how to just get the maturity settings changed that would be wonderful and I’d consider redownloading the app.

Decent, but has flaws. The app itself is a bit slow to load up. It has good options for subs and dubs when applicable. Some seasons for certain shows are missing, but thats a business problem rather than an app problem. For example, they only have the rights for season 1 of Saiki K, while Netflix has the rights to the other seasons- hooray capitalism. My biggest gripe with the app however, is it’s absolute garbage search function. No filters, no sorting lists, no genres. They have groups of anime listed together on the homepage, which is neat, but it is not a replacement for a proper search function. Trying to find a new show to watch under a specific genre with specific tags is impossible.

I like the app yet it needs help. The main reason I got it and paid the subscription was to cast the shows onto the TV ; that hasn’t been possible it just stays Funimation with the purple screen on the TV and it freezes on my phone. It’s more often than not that it kicks me out of the app in the middle of the episode, that means I have to go back in the app touch the episode and scroll to where I was and hope that it doesn’t do it again. This is just extra yet it would be nice to have more gore, psychological animes to watch and if even possible I would pay extra for uncensored ones(not talking about hentai) just uncensored mind boggling animes. Overall it does need some work and I appreciate your time if this was read.
