Thank you to this app!. This app is amazing and the single reason I was able to catch the lights show tonight in Iceland. I was locked in for about 4 hours and moved around according to the location predictors and they were spot on! Five stars!!!

My favorite tracking app!. I love being able to look at all the information I need in one place! My favorite app for sure!

Not great.... This app has just been disappointing for me. I read good reviews about it online and decided to download it. However, all it has done is given me false hope. I can’t tell you how many times I receive notifications that the KP index is “becoming high” but when I look at the map, it is clear that there is no chance of seeing the northern lights based on my location. I wouldn’t put all of your eggs in one basket with this app and would recommend exploring multiple resources.

Amazingly accurate. Loved this app while on an aurora hunting trip to Alaska. The map, the one hour forecast and the multi day forecast were all amazingly accurate.

Aurora App is Ethereal!!. I live in Alaska, with easy access to the Aurora Borealis, the catch is that I live in Anchorage which has light pollution. So with the App, I check the forecast, KP index and other factors that help me plan of my Aurora watching nights. It’s pretty accurate, even with my local weather, conditions & cloud cover info, hour by hour. Even the weather forecaster up here doesn’t come close to getting our weather right. I find other local Aurora watchers post the app’s forecast to notify other watchers-Plus the Aurora gallery from around the world is spectacular 🤩

Questionable. I don’t know why but it gives me notifications during the day and I have it set to my location. It has helped notify me once and I did get to see the Aurora but now it’s just annoying me so I might have to try another one.

Aurora. The Aurora app is a fun, informative offering that allows those lacking the meteorology gene easily to keep a finger on the pulse of the northern night skies. It’s great shortcoming, however, is that it operates almost totally in the “now.” For example at mid-day in my locale it is not surprising to learn that there is no possibility whatsoever of enjoying the northern lights. (I don’t need an app to tell me that!). What would be most useful would be if it Aurora projected into the future, so that it might give me some idea at noon as to whether a later, 3:00 a.m. trek into the back yard might be fruitful.

Good indicator for the lights!. The app has been super helpful! It would be even cooler if the app would allow you to receive alerts or have an alarm feature that can go off to wake you if the lights are active in your area.

Needs instructions, or at least a legend. This may be a useful app, but I wouldn’t know, because it gives you lots of charts to look at and no explanation as to what they mean. I really can’t figure out how to use it. Maybe there’s an explanation of how to interpret the data somewhere, but if so, they sure made it hard to find.

I’d never had seen them if it weren’t for this app!. My heart is beside itself! I’ve lived in Colorado my entire 39 years of life and we JUST moved to Montana and I got this app because about a month ago, I saw that they were active, but I missed them. Then I got the message from the app that they could be visible tonight! And they were!!! I was shaking. This is amazing.

Thursday Night Light Show. Your app told me I had a 40% chance of seeing the lights and at 9:30pm the hotel called my room and I got 2 hrs of dancing, swirling, circling, spiking and arcing lights chasing all across the sky. I was on a photographers tour and everyone got awesome shots!!!!! Thank bunches for an awesome app!

Awesome maps. I go to this app whenever I hear there has been solar activity and a chance to see the northern lights. We live in a big city so the chance to see them is low. The maps are very specific and really show where the lights can be seen. I really enjoy having the app and I’m hoping for the day when the maps show we have a good chance to see the lights.

Perfect App!. This is my first time in Alaska and the hotel staff recommended this app to track when the aurora would be visible. Turns out it was the second night I was here. Very accurate and got me to see the Northern Lights at the best possible time!

Nice Aurora App. I used this app when I was in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan on vacation in September. I was hoping to see the Aurora Borealis but it never worked out. The app would tell me if I had a chance by telling me the KP number. I used another service that was a little more accurate and gave more information.

Best Aurora Chaser Tool I’ve Found. This app seems to cover all the bases. It tracks the aurora worldwide in real time. It shows how close it is for great shots. It gives a person predictions on cloud cover and visibility. I love the notification: “If the sky is clear, you might be able to see aurora within the next hour.” I had great success for the timing of some awesome photos!

App in use in Alaska. We love the notifications with this Aurora app. Although the clouds do not permit our viewing, we love the alerts that give us the chance of seeing the Auroras! Great visuals!

Improvements. I enjoy the app. and is accurate. Only downside is that I want the ability to set Aurora alerts when there is a certain percent chance (user configurable) at my location. Knowing that it is an index of 5 in the middle of the day or when the sun is still up or extremely cloudy isn’t particular helpful.

I love this ap. I downloaded this ap about a year ago (October 2019) and have literally been opening it up at least once per day to see the pictures and the Aurora forecast. I recently took a trip to Alaska to see the Aurora depending on the forecast that was about 3 weeks out and it did not disappoint. Thank you!!!

Forcast. Site seems to stay stagnant until they are right around. (Map updates) but everything else isn’t user friendly.

Not accurate. I live in Alaska, and many people have been posting pictures of Auroras lately so I decided to download this app so I could plan when to stay up and see it myself. My location was correct as I could see it was where I truly was. The app gave me a 0% chance of Aurora for the last three days. I woke up this morning and many people posted pictures from the night before of spectacular Aurora borealis. Very disappointed with the app’s performance and will be deleting it and trying another.

Must have!. We live in Billings and need to drive north a little ways to get away from the city lights. This app has been great in deciding if to go or not waste our time. Of course, It’s not perfect because the northern lights do their own thing. However we are about 75% successful now vs a very rare chance before. Very well worth it!

Not enough info. Love the concept and what info I am able to figure out, but there is not enough info about what some of it means, so I am lost. I am not a pro, so don’t understand the meanings of the little symbols or the significance.

A fun and useful app. I used his app pretty extensively during my recent visit to Iceland and successfully saw the Lights on two nights. I enjoyed referencing it as part of my hunting strategy. My only complaint, and why I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is the lack of instruction/explanation offered through the program. I conducted my own search to understand what I was reading. I would use again if the opportunity arose to see the Aurora.

Horribly distracting ads. I uninstalled this app in less than 2 minutes. I totally understand you need ad revenue and for many apps I use regularly I will purchase the ad free versions. This app had such a horribly distracting ad at the bottom I couldn’t even get thru putting a location in and looking around before I decided to delete it. Plenty of free info on web and other apps that are not so obnoxious. Zero stars!

Awesome app. App notified to check out northern lights when we were in Iceland if the sky was clear within the hour and the lights lite up the sky in 30+ minutes. Worked perfectly for us on the last day of our trip with a beautiful view from our porch. Had not bothered to check the app until I saw the notification:). Next time I will

I never write reviews. But this app helped us see the lights last night in Iceland outside of Reykjavik! Good up to date information and even pushes alerts when sightings are probable!

Ads and PORN in a paid for app??!!. Appalled to open the app for the very first time to be affronted with a come-on to dial an obviously pornography talk line. After closing the app and reopening next presented with Ads. Get real. Had hoped to use Aurora to maximize my possibility of seeing the Northern Lights on a trip. But frankly it’s so offensive, that I am deleting it right after posting this review. SHAME ON YOU. Just wish the apparently excellent maps, probability and reported sightings features were not obliterated by the unnecessary and offensive issues.

Super helpful! It works. I downloaded this at the last minute as we were heading out from Reykjavik to find the Northern Lights. Based on the maps and satellite info we were treated to an AMAZING view! USE THIS APP!! It works!!

Paid option. I clicked on an ad within the app by mistake. It asked me to change some settings. I take my phones security and my privacy fairly seriously. I would much prefer a paid version. Update. Turns out there is a paid version. I would have liked a link to the paid version available in the free version. If there was one I couldn’t find it. My Aurora Pro $1.99. Worth it not to have the ads, cause I do like the app.

Love it. I, unfortunately, live in Southern California so I'm not able to see the aurora in person, but I am an aurora live cam junkie. This app is super useful in letting me know where the best places to tune in from are, how active I can expect the aurora to be in the coming days, and it alerts me to auroras in the place I've set as home. I wish I could set multiple places for alerts, but the 'find best places to watch' function is nearly as good. If you're an aurora borealis lover and dreamer, this app is necessary.

Optimistic forecast. And i think tracking the moon phases and its orbit are just as important as tracking cloud cover. I’ve never seen northern lights with a full moon out. Tonight shows a forecast of 7kp for my area but it shows nothing about the fact that the moon is out and is at or near full…not that i could find anyway

It would be perfect but.... It would be awesome if they could add a section where people could post sightings/locations near you, I am imagining that in the app you could set it to show sightings within a certain radius of your location, this would be really helpful for nights in place like Minnesota(northern US) where it is not too often that we can see the AB, and so we can be sure that there are sightings tonight that would make some of the less risk takers among us to be assured that we could see them on that night.

Last Night in Iceland the Sky Opened Up. So happy! My last night in Iceland, this app helped me know when to go outside & if I’d see the aurora which was amazing!

Great tool!!. Used this app to successfully see aurora 4 times in a few days in Reykjavík. The conditions can change very quickly but the app did a great job of guiding us and the notifications worked too. Thank you!

Useful and straightforward app. I used this app while planning, and then enjoying, a trip through Iceland. It is a well-done app that is nicely laid out in a straightforward manner. I got the pro version just to get rid of the ads. I got value from using the app so that was worth it. Overall the app was of good use while in the wilderness in predicting the aurora most days. My only qualm is one night I was in the middle of Thingvellir national park late at night, with 100% cloud cover and no aurora in sight. The app alerted and also had a high KP forecast and showed no cloud cover in my location. IMO That’s no fault of the app, though, because the aurora and weather) are elusive. It’s just to say don’t rely 100% on the accuracy of the app. Before my trip I looked at a few apps and this was one was the best and least complicated of all.

Surprise to even seasoned aurora hunters. I was at dinner in Iceland when the alert can in that it may be possible to see Northern Lights in our area within the hour. The staff at hotel said, no no and pulled up a different app. We paid the bill went outside and sure enough it went from 18% chance to 40% and then they appeared.. Very cool and memorable

Must have if searching for Northern Lights. I don’t normally review apps, but this one totally deserves it. My wife and I traveled to Iceland and this app was great. Alerted us that lights were in the area and sure enough, there they were. Right outside our hotel. Caught amazing pics! Get it!

Seems accurate. Used this app just for a few nights while on vacation in Alaska. Seemed to be fairly accurate in predicting if the lights would be present. Gave a good notification when the lights were showing.

Great app. Sent me a message that the lights would be active in an hour with clear sky’s. This was on the last day of my trip. Set out to a good viewing spot and bam there was the lights. Would have never look that night without the app as that night was supposed to be the worst for light action.

Amazing!. We were in Iceland for three nights and really wanted to see the northern lights. This app was SPOT ON with the best places to view and the viewing times. The first day, it said we had a 3% chance. The second day it said 50% so we drove to the town mentioned on the app and sure enough were were able to see the lights and they put on an amazing show for us.

App Crashes A Lot. I want to like this app, I really do, but it crashes quite frequently when I launch it. I’m on an iPhone 13 with the latest iOS version. I’ll pony up for the Pro version if the dev can fix the crashing.

Worked perfectly for us. We specifically came to iceland to see the northern lights. We had no luck on a bus trip or on a boat cruise. I downloaded this app. When in Reykoldt in West Iceland, I received an alert that there was a high likelihood they would be visible in an hour. The forecast was spot on. Visibility started at the time predicted and ended due to cloud coverage 30 minutes later. Our entire tour group cheered and I was the heroine who allowed it to happen thanks to Aurora.

Great. Edit: never mind! I found how to change location. I’m happy now haha. It was a bit hard to find quickly for some reason. It’s not where that function usually is on most apps. Previous review: This seems like a great app but I wish there was a way to change the location. I live in Indiana so I don’t expect to see any auroras here. Therefore most of the functions of the app are useless to me because they forecast auroras based on the phone’s location. Why not give the ability to see forecasts in another location, or multiple locations, like any weather app? I want to see when auroras will be visible in Michigan so that I can plan on when to go. I don’t want to have to drive to Michigan just to get a forecast there. Thanks.

Aurora sightings. This was a great help for us knowing if aurora will appear in our location. Indeed it appeared twice in one night . First one was jus 5 mins then nex one hour. The green map tells you its still there n their KP n percentage was right.. now i know how to catch aurora then..

Ads don’t allow to see anything. I would love to be able to use this as the northern lights are so active in my location but every time I open it, I get ads that don’t go away. Currently stuck on an ad that is in Chinese and can’t close it. I won’t pay for something if I don’t know what the quality of the app is

Not sure about this app. I have been in Fairbanks Alaska using this app for about two weeks and id say the only thing it is accurate about is where the Aurora oval is. I like the layout of the app but it is hardly ever correct especially with cloud cover . Def could use some work.

Was able to see northern lights. This app is amazing. I was having a really hard time with the Aurora forecast website and this app made it really easy to understand where to go to see the northern lights. This app helped me see the northern lights on the last day of my Iceland trip. Thank you!!!

Great way to track the Auroras!. I travel full time and decided to spend this Winter in Alaska solely to get my fill and shoot the Aurora. Spot on. I got a message telling me the lights are out and it was confirmed. I had a day where the kp was higher, but no lights out. This app knows its stuff well. I wish I would get the notification sooner because I am 4 hrs away from my spot. Great app

I got three apps for aurora spotting, but with this one I had enough info to know where to go, when aurora was strong but my location was covered by clouds. Love this app. Great app, especially the alerts. Not many apps cater for the Southern Lights. One thing I’ve realised. KP readings tend to be 1 point higher than the SWS KP readings, but there is a workaround.. Once I receive an alert I then quickly check the SWS site. Been doing this for a while and the 1 point difference between the app and SWS is consistent, so in taking that difference into account the app is still effective.

Works well. Seems to be more focused on the northern hemisphere than the Southern Hemisphere but works well for forecasting

Love this app!!. I’m actually addicted to checking this app throughout the day on the off chance an aurora might be near me or a friend! Well made and simple to use. Only one addition I’d love to see in this app would be the ability to add multiple locations on the map for alerts and tracking rather than just you current one. Overall though it’s great!

So good, I'm writing my first review. I've never bothered to review an app before but this one is a truly excellent companion when seeking out the northern lights! I've been using it for the past two weeks in Iceland, in combination with a few websites, and of my three resources this app was a good combination, with the most specific information, and from my experience pretty accurate. A light in the sky. Ever since I began thinking of the Aurora and dreaming of one day seeing it, this app has been a daily spark of joy, allowing me to tune into the slow, patient cycle of the magical lights. It’s like a private bank account and each time I open it, I deposit a little more hope against that future joy. It’s a great comfort in our present world.

Best I have used for Aurora forecast. Have been using it over a year, contains lots of information to boost your chance to see the lights. Not many apps or websites provide the long term forecast as this App does.

Terrible. Checked the app after many people o lines said the southern aurora would be visible. As they app said 0% chance of viewing I wen to bed only to wake up to pictures of all the people that saw it later that night...

Aurora Lights. We are finding it frustrating trying to photograph the Aurora Lights. For weeks we have been looking outside to see if there were any lights. Only just a few days ago a lady told us you cannot see them with the naked eye but only on your camera or phone. Also from the South. We are now at Clarence Point which is North. How can we take good photos? These were taken tonight. Cannot insert photos for some reason all we took were pale blue & pink touch of yellow. Thank you Brenda & Peter

Best aurora app, had everything. All key stats, notifications, etc. love the visual map and the visual kp forecasts. Sadly I clicked no once to do you want to buy and got stuck with ads.

Irritating. Constantly notifying me of high KP even though I've turned off notifications in the app, and when I check it's always 0% chance of seeing it from my location! Stupid.

Successfull Aurora spotting. During our stay in Finland it was found to be very accurate. On each alert received the Aurora was seen. Have purchased more expensive apps that have done nothing.

Very helpful. This app is very helpful to see the Aurora Borealis at night.

Cloud coverage. It’s never accurate, it’ll say 100% cloud cover but there will be no clouds outside and over apps will get it correct. But still the best app in my opinion

Innacurate. This app consistently reports Kp’s 1 or 2 higher than what it really is. I’ve used this one alongside 6 other apps and it is wrong consistently. My comparisons are to the official NOAA forecast

Great notifications.. Thanks to this app I had to get up and go outside this morning at 4:30am in -35 degree weather - but it was worth it - lights were gorgeous.

Aurora app. The best app if you ever want to enjoy the auroraborealis without having to keep your eye in the sky every night ;) When you hear the alarm you go outside and be amazed on how well these new iPhones take night shots :)

Pretty Useless. When I hear from the news or friends and family that there’s a chance to see the northern lights, the map in this app tells me there’s zero chance to see them from my location. Only to wake up to beautiful pictures from others in my area the next morning. You get no warnings of possible sightings from this app or you’ll get a warning after you’ve gone to bed that others have reported seeing them in your area right now. Save yourself the aggravation and trust the news and other media instead of this app.

confusing alerts cost. Before I purchased the app the alerts were $2 dollars but after i purchased the app? it went up to $6?

Frustrating. I find this app totally frustrating to use. My neighbours post a photo of beautiful northern lights… no alerts? No forecast? You can even find news articles talking about a solar eruption forecasting beautiful aurora, but the app only has the usual streams of cryptic data. I love the way it says 0% of seeing aurora right now in your location when it’s daytime. Duh!

Stopped working. App stopped working almost immediately. It WAS working for about 5 minutes.

Accurate but not good for planning. Seems to only say within the hour of when you’ll see the lights, which isn’t helpful if I want to plan for it!

I cannot get an access anymore. I’m using IOS 14. It was a great app and I uses this every day to trace the aurora. But now i cannot get access anymore because everytime I open it automatically exit the app without seeing any of its features. Please fix! Thank you

Poor forecast. The app is using a deterministic algorithm to calculate the chance, which is never correct. I have seen the light many times while the app says 0% chance. I would recommend following websites of universities or research orgs rather than using this app.

No information no alert. Downloaded the app and all it did was give the probability rate of seeing the northern lights and showing your location. It doesn’t show the location of the northern lights or alert you when they could be seen at a certain time. Bummer because we missed the show😞

Good but some glitches. Great for getting a rough idea as to where to find the Aurora, but the pin points on location of best viewing spots are way off. Pin point for Anchorage was located north of the entire state.

Last night I was on a ship just South of Kirkenes Norway taking pictures of the beautiful dancing Northern Lights overhead and the app said only 38% chance. I gave it 2 stars because it's a pretty app and it looks like a lot of work went into it, not for the accuracy. Just look up.

Simple. Very little to do other then see if available at any time. Really annoying, blinking, advertisement detracts from use and is often accidentally clicked on.

Aurora forecast. This App isn’t working well, this time October, Iceland is fully available to see the aurora, and the app doesn’t show any notifications or information about it, only shows information for the Antártida and Greenland.

Wow. This is by far the very best app for the northern lights I am totally amazed. you guys did a phenomenal job designing it

Great for keeping watch. The electric display of the Aurora Is a natural wonder. This make it easy to view a part of the world hidden from most.

Worked good!. Went to Iceland, tried to hit it at the right time for the northern lights. This app predicted pretty good when to see it, thank you!

Alaska Trip. We are using this app to assist us in viewing the auroras. We were able to see them on Saturday at Chema Hot Springs. Thanks!

They killed the app. I’ve had this app on my phone for so long I can’t even remember. I would have been happy to pay to support…making me sit though intrusive ads after an update? I hope you go bankrupt

Addicted to the chase.. I love this app so much. I chase the northern lights as much as I can. And this app helps me tremendously.

App review. It’s an excellent way for me to keep up with the Aurora. Going on a 16 day cruise in September and this app will help me decide which nights I might need to stay up and watch for the northern lights.

Horrible pop up ads. When you try to view the map, a pop up ad that looks like a notification wants you to download an update.

Not very intuitive. Red means go; green means no. I’m sure the KP index and other assorted charts and numbers have meaning to someone but they’re not very helpful for someone who just wants to know if I can see the aurora here tonight.

Does not set for where I am going however developer response incredible. Cannot set my travel location. Got a contact from developer and all is good. Incredible response time.

Most practical resource out there to be alerted for auroras. If you’re in a region where auroras happen. It’s a must have!

Great features and a well designed interface. I really like this app and plan to use it a lot during my travel to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.

Does the job. The alerts and forecasts really help, it would be nice to have a 'news' section about upcoming solar flares or storms.

Great app. Left one star off because the gallery really needs to be real time with dated pictures, otherwise it's unhelpful for anyone chasing the lights

This app has it all.. Lots of great features. Please add a “red mode” to prevent loosing your night vision adjusted eyes.

Don’t waste your time. I have missed several aurora events because this app said there was no chance of an aurora... even the biggest aurora event In the last 10 years it couldn’t even predict that... which I also missed. This app is rubbish.

Alerts. I get alerts sometimes when the KP is lower than my setting. Then I never got an alert yesterday when the KP was above 6 and I missed a rare sighting. I downloaded this app for the alerts and they don’t seem to have that dialed in.

Nice Alerts. I spend a lot of time in northern Greenland at the Thule AirBase. So far north you have to look south to see the Aurora! I set my location to Pituffik and get alerts. First time it was a spot on accurate prediction!
