Terrible App. If I could leave a 0-star rating I would. This app has problems galore that looking through reviews of it from the past 6 months would only list probably half of them. More development time was probably spent in creating those tacky Reddit NFTs than on this app. Previously you could use reliable and helpful third-party apps that had three times the features than this sorry-excuse for a web browser, but now this is all that remains since they charge absolutely ludicrous prices to the developers of the third-party apps who can’t possibly afford to pay it. I barely ever use Reddit anymore: previously I would surf Reddit via Apollo (an actual competently developed app), but I refuse to use this waste of phone storage space in Apollo’s place. As a result, I and many others have stopped browsing Reddit almost entirely. We all have much better things to do on our computers than waste time on Reddit of all things. As per usual of the dim-witted and greedy Reddit leadership, this lapse of sane decision-making will no doubt hasten the sites already imminent death because no one in their right mind would use an app that still has the same major bugs, issues, and missing features that it did when it released years ago.

Stay back, and don't come back until their API prices are reverted.. As of now with the abysmal prices of Reddit's API plus their absolutely narcissistic way that they have handled the community's answers, the user are now less valuable than the revenue their API calls produce. Many apps will be shutting down TOMORROW because the prices they have been given are madness. For instance, Apollo, a 3rd party app that has been running for the past 10 years, and has even been recognized by iPhone (i.e. WWDC) is 24 cents for every 1000 API calls, with each call being sent for just about anything you do. Comment? Call. Post? Call. Upvote or downvote? Either one is a call. With all of those costing 24 cents to Apollo to give to Reddit, this amounts to 2 million dollars, MONTHLY. Keep in mind, the sole maker of the app, u/iamthatis AKA Christian, ran the app and only supported himself through completely optional extras. Apollo won't even be the only casualty of such a change. Narwhal, Reddit is Fun, etc. u/spez AKA Steve Huffman, you have gave each and every moderator team, the people who made your servers live, a singular clap then a "Screw you". Maybe that 2 Million a month won't be so worth it when you'll have a community that loathes you, and if you don't know what "loath" means, which I completely understand by this point, this means you'll be considered the enemy of Reddit.

Changes to the app has been crappy to say the least 👎🏻. Most recent version does not show long image captions. Some previous versions only let you see the caption when you click the image (hate it). Some older versions show the caption on top of the image (which is what I prefer), but it cuts off and does not show the entire caption. What’s worse is that instead of showing “more” to let users see the full caption when you click the image, doing that completely makes the caption disappear! Please make it so the image captions are either fully displayed on top of the photo without having to click on the photo, OR make it so captions are partially displayed on top of the photos and clicking the photo displays the entire caption or gives us the “more” option to see the full caption. Also, PLEASE stop changing the UI and please stop showing me subreddits that I did not join. I only want to see the subreddits I joined when I open the app. If I want to see other subreddits, I will manually search them up!!

The mods and admins enforce rules selectively, so it’s kind of the Wild West.. After being trashed by dozens of redditors for expressing views which comport with my Jewish ethics and in a way which exhibits autism/Asperger’s, I reported numerous abusive and harassing posts and plead with moderators and the Reddit admin to take action. One of the moderators then mocked me and suggested that I was being a “Karen.” I then reported this abuse to Reddit admin, but no apparent action was taken, nor was the comment removed. The same moderator even linked to a post on my personal page as a means of brigading and furthering the harassment. Of course, I reported that post to Reddit admin, but you can guess what happened in response: nothing. So I decided to fight fire with fire as a means of making a point. Naturally, I was temporarily banned from Reddit. Way to go, admin. You let people pile on the guy for expressing his Jewish values and for communicating in a style that’s common for autistic people, but you immediately took action to ban the same guy the moment that he responded in kind as a means of demonstrating the arbitrary methods of selective enforcement. You proved the very point that I set out to make. You don’t have to bother with lifting my ban since my conduct was just my attempts to set fire to the place on my way out. I was done with Reddit by that point because you utterly failed to enforce the standards which you purport to value in your policy.

The UI “updates” are terrible and not user-friendly!. HEADS UP! THE PREVIEW IS NOTHING LIKE WHAT THE APP LOOKS LIKE NOW! Continuously, Reddit App developers change the UI not to fix bugs but to make a worse experience for users. Reddit used to have a UI design that set it apart and was functional. Now the app is designed to emulate other social media apps and it does not fit with existing design choices. The new video player is somehow worse than the video player that existed previously (and was never fixed, despite constant bug reports). Sorting options have been removed from the top of the tabs and placed within the profile menu (and only lets you sort for home now). That means instead of one click to sort, it’s now three. They’ve decided, in their infinite wisdom, to change how the upvote, comment, and share buttons are displayed. Instead of across the entire bottom of a post, spread out so you know what you’re clicking, it’s all now squished to the bottom left of the post. They choose to overhaul the design of the UI repeatedly, straying further and further away from what made Reddit unique while not fixing any of the existing issues. I could go on and on about the horrible choices they continue to make, and how they don’t listen to the community about what we actually want out of the app, but they clearly don’t listen (duh).

reddit still requires work in a lot of areas. I downloaded reddit for the pure enjoyment of having some place to post and interact with different communities. However, I noticed when receiving a follower you don’t have the option of “knowing” who follows you but you get a notification saying that person followed you. It’s annoying not being able to see who interacts with your posts from time to time or who follows you. Another thing is inbox messages you can’t delete them from your reddit inbox meaning they’ll stay there until you delete your account completely. Wish that wasn’t the case but sadly that’s how reddit is, the app isn’t really successful in managing followers like you can easily remove them on instagram or check who’s following you. Spam bots follow but you can’t get them to unfollow you which is ridiculous. Although I love reddit and the platform because you can post anonymously on reddit posts. I wish they’d focus on the important things of the app, like managing inbox messages and managing your followers or remove followers from your profile without deleting your account.

One main issue. Now I understand “karma” is a big part of this application/website, but please rethink it. I’m not reddit savvy, but i am social media savvy and up to date with how individuals are. Been online most of my life being a “degen” or dealing with them. Karma or not people will find a way to bypass this, if they truly cared, but i am not ashamed to say I don’t. That being said, i have found myself on reddit more often than not. Signing up with alt accounts very often as i do not care much to keep up with a account. However there has been instances where I tried to get my karma up but it is so slow and not that easy unless something sets you up, which in retrospect, is not reliable. For new users how come wanting to speak on matters or ask questions it becomes hard unless you go under an already existing post and ask there, (which may even get you downvoted resulting in negative karma) I believe it’d be simpler to maybe not automod post that are based on karma points but instead trust in your users and communities to handle spam/negativity in a well obtained manner. That should why i gave it 4 stars. Too many times i tried to make a post and wouldn’t go through on any r/ due to no karma. Thank you.

Fix the Bottom Bar Please!. Writing a review hoping this gets fixed so I can change the rating to five stars. The app will randomly change the orientation of the tabs at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes the app will open with my home page and five buttons at the bottom with the notifications on the far right, which is ideal. However, sometimes it opens to the world news tab and instead of a notifications tab, there is one that says “more” with three dots, where I can then click on notifications from a menu. Not only is this an annoying extra couple steps, there is no need for it since there is nothing else. On top of that, when I view my notifications this way, I cannot get to my profile in the same notifications tab. I can bring up the sidebar while viewing notifications, but when I click on my profile it just returns to my notification feed. Thought it was something that surely would have gotten caught and fixed quickly but the app was updated two days ago and this is still happening.

This app is straying further from god…. Honestly. If I could give this a 0 star review I would. This app wont be better than thier 3rd party counter parts for a couple of reason. 1. Got to do multiple steps just to save photos. Don’t know what the issue is with long pressing and saving a photo but here I gotta go thru 2 menu options just to download a image I wanna save…. Regardless if its a image to save for a build in a game or a image for a wallpaper… 2 steps too many. 2. CANT SAVE VIDEOS. The only reddit app used to let you save video to a device. Then it was changed…. Which is why I used Apollo (will always be the best reddit app) in the first place. Anytime I wanna save a video I could only save it in app and or crosspost it. I got friends that don’t use reddit (I can see why now) so I used to save videos I thought was helpful or funny so they didn’t have to go to their site or download the app to see it. If you wanna gatekeep people from using your api at least find out what they were doing over your garage app. That way it was more justified for removing the api( better word, extorting) usage and making this app better. Ill see how this app changed but its been months now and its only gotten worse so I’ll probably wont change review.

A forced, and frustrating, mess. Let me be clear: I have used the Apollo app for my Reddit needs for about 2 years now. Prior to this I was using the official Reddit app. I didn’t “hate” the official app, but in comparison to so many apps in the App Store, it felt very behind and lackluster. Bad loading times, the UI was horrible, and just an overall poor experience that I put up with because “it’ll get better.” After switching to Apollo on a whim, I found a solution to every single issue the official Reddit app had for me at the time. Everything, every little detail, was so thought out. The UI, the gestures to comment, upvote/downvote, etc. was so useful and felt so natural on an iPhone. However, Reddit has forced Apollo to close, and I decided to give the official app another go. While it improved since I last used it, it certainly is not the best app to use Reddit on. That one is gone, all by Reddit’s own doing. Reddit should really take what Apollo did so well and use that to build onto their own app. The little details do go a long way, and I genuinely believe the Reddit app could benefit by taking these details and working them into their app. But the fact that they are, for lack of better term, forcing this decision to use a much worse app is truly a shame.

The website is great but this app is hot garbage. I enjoy using Reddit for all types of things from help with specific subjects, to entertainment. That is why it pains me to say that this app is horrible. On mobile, Reddit forces you to use the app to view content from many of its subreddit but the app has to be closed and restarted every few minutes due to bugs. There are many issues but my biggest complaints are videos playing their audio over other videos, comments don’t post sometimes and sometimes they post twice, sometimes the app just stops loading things as if my internet went out but I check other apps and my internet is just fine, and the most common/most annoying bug where the video will play for about 10 seconds then mute itself. I unmute it then 10 seconds later it mutes again. I can’t use this app for more than 10 minutes without experiencing one of these bugs and the only way to fix it is to close and reopen the app. There are far more apps and if you have slow internet, watching videos is basically impossible as every time you fast forward or rewind it has to reload the whole thing and the video doesn’t play unless it’s fully loaded. There are many bugs and some have been around for a while. The website is great, but the app is hot garbage.

The only social media/sharing site I use. I've been using Reddit for 6 years, and while there's been a lot of changes-some good and some bad-it's still the best media platform, by far. The voting system and user content personalization keeps the content fresh and of decent quality. I never get bored. There's such great variety on here: politics, science, literature, world/local news, popular news, comedy, idiotic comments, philosophical conversation, support groups, --the list is literally endless, and if you can't find the sub you want, they're very easy to make up (although moderating can be a pain sometimes, I hear). The app itself is well-designed, and easier to navigate than it's sister app, Alien Blue. That said, I wish there was a way to easily (or at all) quote (c&p) other users and/or to access the content on the site in safari. I actually have the question our on r/reddithelp as to whether these are possible (I thought they were), so if I find they are, I'll update the review. Update, June 2023. My how the mighty have fallen. I’m not even wasting my time outlining all of the ways Reddit has let its users down. I’ve begun to suspect it’s intentional, as the last bastion of progressive discourse online. Regardless, and for many, many other reasons, after over a decade as a user and sometime-mod, I’m absolutely done with Reddit. This site is destined for the garbage.

Perfect App. Reddit is the best social media app available out of every single social media app that the majority of the population uses, like even though TikTok is very main stream right now, it can get really old, always seeing the same videos and what not, but Reddit however is like a fresh breath of air, constantly updated, pages for every single content out there- literally anything you can think of and you want to see wether it’s just a hobby, something funny, wanting to learn new stuff or even just people fighting, wanting to find something new, or you are curious legit anything you can think of you will be able to find a Reddit page for it, I never have any issues with Reddit— no lagging, no connection issues, I never seen the same videos over and over again, the app is super easy to use and learn so no excuses to not have the app unless you just really don’t want to download it or have an account, you can just go through Reddit with a guest account aswell, perfect app! Deserves all 5 stars I gave it, keep doing you reddit !! 😁😁😁☺️

Very sensitive community/should have better guidelines. You can’t even state your own opinion with out getting bashed even if it is valid. People make hate pages about other people and im sure it says that you are not supposed to support any sort of bullying or harassment or send links or @ other people and screenshots. The community is just full of sad and awful people who think they know everything and say they want to make the world a better place but then make snark pages about people just because they view the world differently or have a different opinion. So many people get away with nasty hateful things on this platform to where it is worse than tiktok and twitter combined. Honestly the way the app is advertised makes it seem like a wonderful community and so supportive but in reality everyone on their brings u down. No wonder why so many people are depressed on this platform the whole thing is full of hate and ugliness. I don’t know if the owners or people that run the platform know what really happens on their but they should have alot more control on what is said and posted on their just like other platforms. There are seriously older adults on their along with probably minors that talk horribly about one another. The whole community is just horrible its self literally can’t even scroll down without seeing a post hating on someone; just full of so many sad people that think they are doing something right in the world.

Instagram 2.0. Final Update: I’ve used this app for 5+ years and am now deleting it. Between the rearranged USI making it harder to enjoy, the recent API issue, and the ads, my god the ads. It seems every third post is an ad and they’re never anything I’m interested in. There are thousands of Christian’s ads that are just completely tone death. Also the content quality has just diminished. It’s great for wasting time but there really isn’t anything that interesting going on anymore. I wouldn’t recommend it, it’s just a huge waste of time. I’m deleting it for good now. Finally time to go out and touch grass. The recent updates have really killed the magic of Reddit. It feels like an Instagram clone now. They made the list of subreddits harder to access and replaced them with a “feed” of popular stuff that I’m not interested in. The ads and recommended communities are excessive and Intrusive. Very much has gone from, online form for discussion, to social media “check out my avatar” and upvote my posts! A lot of the magic that made Reddit unique has given way to the pressure of becoming a social media platform. If you want to look at pictures get Instagram instead. Has been a great opportunity for me to quit though. This app is a complete waste of time and would not recommend. Given 2 stars just for what Reddit used to be. The interface has ceased to be user friendly

Stop deleting one-star reviews. As others have reviewed, it has a serious moderation issue. It’s gotten much worse because Reddit now smashed admins (Reddit employees) onto larger communities. While this may bring some good tech support, they also appear to have gone trolling for the most dishonest, toxic people they can find. They are either too lazy to give you anything other than a canned response or vile, abusive, clowns who gaslight their victims. It’s been made worse by allowing users to directly report anything to admins. Now packs of idiots run around reporting anything they disagree with or issuing false reports on people who happen to catch their abusive eyes. The communities I frequented were well moderatored. It was the admins who were absolutely out of control. It is not a joke to say that they lie, abuse, and, in my case, actually tried to change the log to hide what they were doing. Customer Service is non-existent. Anything short of public scorn gets ignored. If you pursue Newsweek, you’ll occasionally get a puff piece about something off of Reddit. That’s the most you need to invest in this app. Horrible user experience created by abusive employees. You can be absolutely fine on the forum, but it’s Reddit employees themselves that ruin it for everyone. Wall Street is refusing to issue an IPO, you be wise to invest the same amount: nothing.

Not Working, Design Changes Hurt User Experience. This app was working just fine until the recent updates where Reddit has (1) swapped the video player with a TikTok wannabe video players and forced videos to sticky to the top of posts and (2) replaced the bottom communities tab that conveniently listed recent communities, favorited communities, and all other joined communities with an Pinterest-like browse tab which includes none of my communities. Now to get my communities list I have to tap a More button in the left - which is difficult to reach on an iPhone 12 Max - to open a side pane that wasn’t loading until I opened and closed the app a bunch of times (suggested by an admin on r/Redditmobile). What’s even worse is that if I want to jump to another one of my communities I **cannot**. I’m forced to tap the arrow in the top of the screen to exit the community, then I have to tap the More button to open the pane AGAIN, and then I can scroll to my desired community. The extra tap is annoying and frustrating. I wish these forced changes were optional so I could sidestep these weird choices whatever leaders at Reddit are forcing because they want to increase engagement in more boring normie communities that may have more ads.

New UI gestures oversight. Within the past day or two there was an update to UI gestures when tapping into a post. Functionality before was that you could tap a post to pull up a full view of the image/video/media. For galleries, you could swipe left and right to either end and stay in the post. There was a button for the comments section. Swipe up went to related posts in the same subreddit/feed. Swipe down went back to the card view of the feed. This works fine. With the new change, when swiping left, you don’t hit a stop with galleries anymore. It will move on to the next recommended post. If that post is a gallery as well, you have to swipe through ALL the images in the gallery to get to the next recommended post. There’s no other way to continue seeing recommended posts. There’s also no way to stay confined within a single post/gallery anymore since there is no stop. Swipe up used to be next recommended post, replaced with comments. There was already a button for comments in at least 2-3 places I could think of for a post. Now, the new gestures make the UX more difficult instead of intuitive. They weren’t all that intuitive to begin with, but this makes it more redundant for comments, and harder for post discoverability. I’d love to see more customize-ability with these settings, or at least a way to revert.

Worse All The Time. If I want to seek out new subreddits, I will do that. If I’m curious what videos other users are watching, I will find out. But when I launch Reddit, I want to see the feed I’ve curated for myself first and foremost. The ads are awful enough. Reddit’s suggestions only add to the clutter. That I can disable these suggestions is beside the point. I am able to decide for myself what I want to see and participate in. Even more frustrating are the icons at the top of my feed that notify me there are live audio conversations in various subreddits. Although I’d disabled every so-called feature that seemed remotely related, I could not rid myself of these icons. I wondered, did I have to visit each individual subreddit to disable these? Are they permanent UI fixtures? The answer to the last, according to a comment on a changelog post, is yes. For now, at least, and for too long. The team “will be building a toggle” to opt out of the live bar. They implemented the feature and didn’t bother to provide users a choice in whether to participate. They’ll get around to that. Create separate feeds for suggestions and live dialogue, put them beside Popular and News, fine. I’ve no doubt some percentage of the user base are interested. But don’t opt in on my behalf.

Coolest people and App. You get to Scroll through Weird Avatars some Reptilian features some Asian,some Bohemian like all with different colors. I found it took too long to match up the character Avatar and the Colors I wanted but was Happy to find One I could deal with. So then you anonymously search vast subjects your interested in. Because you believe No One Can Identify You, You can be Free to Tell the Truth about something and that is so needed today when some people and some in powerful positions are telling us what we can say and what we can’t. Why do some people want to have total control over others? We don’t become our Best Self without the Freedom to Think outside the Box. Respect others perspectives. Sure some have decided to strictly stay true to their own convictions, culture, or education, but we can all learn something from each other from personal experiences that can be told on a Social Media platform that won’t shame you, or threaten to cancel you. We Become Better at Being Human when we remember we are All Humans Being.

Honestly just use the website. I wanted to give the app a try, I really did. Mostly so that I wouldn’t have to look at the ugly “USE APP” button plastered on top of the mobile website. But I just could not do it. Even if you turn off notifications, the app has in-app little orange indicators that they constantly pester you with. Every day it sends me a popular post from a subreddit I am already subscribed to. There’s an annoying little orange dot that won’t go away until I look at it. Multiple times per day it gives me a little notification about subreddit chats or something. I’ve literally never used subreddit chats and do not want to. Somehow the list of chats that it notifies me about keeps growing, AND THE STUPID ORANGE DOT WILL NOT GO AWAY UNTIL I TAP ON ALL OF THEM. There is no way to turn this off. This is by far the most frustrating app user experience I’ve encountered. update: now it’s not even possible to get the mobile website to stop asking you to download the app. do yourself a favor and just quit reddit altogether. ask yourself why a company that basically only makes money on advertising is so insistent that you download their app, to the extent that they are removing features from their formerly functional website to influence your decision.

Not nearly as enjoyable of an experience. I’ve used Apollo to access Reddit ever since I’ve had an account, so I never knew what the native app experience was like and why so many people said it was trash. Now I know. It lacks so many features, it keeps turning my notifications back on, and it’s totally bogged down with ads. Even worse, it keeps populating my feed with “recommended” subreddits because I happened to read one post in there once, but then not showing me posts from the majority of the subreddits I follow. Seriously, half my feed is ads and recommended subreddits I don’t care about (otherwise I’d subscribe to them), and the other half is posts from the same 4-5 subreddits that I am subscribed to. I’m literally missing out on 95% of the content I want to see (as indicated BY SUBSCRIBING) and then getting inundated with content I don’t want and didn’t ask for. What a horrible UX design. Your UI design could use an overhaul as well. Even something as seemingly simple as following a comment thread is difficult because there is nothing that helps differentiate the comment level, so the longer the thread gets, the harder it is to tell which child comment goes to which parent comment. I mean, come on. Reddit is a conversational forum! Being able to easily follow the conversation is UI 101! Anyway. I can now honestly say I agree - this app is trash. It’s too bad Reddit DGAF.

Please let me remove the scroll button!. Overall the app is quite good. Very fluid, easy to navigate to my favorite subreddits quickly; basically does everything I’d expect from a Reddit client. HOWEVER, there is one feature that drives me absolutely batty. The scroll button. You know the one. The one where you accidentally click it and it sends you to the bottom of the thread you’re currently reading. There is already a perfectly good feature for this: pressing and holding on the screen collapses the current top-level comment and all child comments. I have had this app since the day it came out and have never, not once, pressed that button on purpose. Most of the time I just stick it in the top right corner and it stays out of the way, where it still creates a minor visual annoyance, but if that was all that happened I would not be writing this review. No, not only can I not get rid of it, it won’t even stay where I put it. Every so often, the button will jump back to its default location, and will not let me move it above that height on the screen. It’s annoying, it’s USELESS, because as I said there is already a feature that accomplishes the same thing, and I can’t remove it. Absolutely horrible feature. Please remove it from the app or at the very least give me an option to remove it. As it stands this app is two stars. Remove this infernal button and it will be five.

Keeps resetting my notification settings. I have repeatedly (and repeatedly, and repeatedly, and—) changed my settings so that I don’t get random notifications for things like recommended or trending posts. I only want notifications for things like replies to my own posts and comments, and changing the settings temporarily fixes this for me. However, without fail, after maybe a couple months it randomly resets so that all notifications are selected and I start getting a bunch I don’t want again, and have to go back in and deselect a bunch of them all over again. Based on the tons of complaints I’ve found all over Reddit’s own platform, this has been an issue for a very long time for many many people and there doesn’t seem to have ever been any attempt on Reddit’s behalf to solve it. Considering this is the only app I’ve ever had this problem with, it seems like at this point they either just really don’t care whether their app works right or they’re actively trying to annoy their user base with unwanted notifications on purpose. Honestly the app is fine otherwise, this really is the only reason I’m rating it one star because it’s such a stupid bug for an app this size to have, unless it really is on purpose but either way I get more annoyed each time it happens. This should be an easy fix guys, so dumb.

You cannot have an opinion and you have to think the same way everyone else does :/!. The issue with Reddit is you can’t actually have an opinion, and by that I mean valid opinions that are harmless such as which chip flavor is better or little things like that. The downvote feature penalizes you for getting downvoted, such as it’ll hide your comments or not let you post on certain subreddits if you don’t have enough. For example on the hello fresh subreddit, there was a question asking if they think the price is worth it and only people who agreed yes had upvotes and they downvoted anyone who said they personally didn’t feel like it was worth it. You make a thread asking a question and to have people voice their different harmless opinions, yet they got downvoted? This just proves you have to think the same mindset as everyone else, which is just not how the real world works. The downvote feature should be replaced with if a comment gets reported a certain amount of time it’s automatically deleted, since there could be racist comments or creepy ones that need to get deleted which is understandable. Yet it’s tiring to get downvoted for simple things. People will literally go as far as checking your whole post history and page just to add on to a downvote and prove their point, which is super … odd to me. I honestly just don’t like posting at this point, because even for simple questions I get downvoted if people find it too boring, which is dumb.

Word’s Can’t Explain…Or Can They?. First of all if anyone thinks that you will be treated fairly, that you will have a voice, or a place where you can have a different mindset from everyone else, where you don’t feel like the website is controlled by the Gestapo, or Stalin’s NKVD, or feel pressured to “go with the flow” to be treated as “sheep”. Well then this app isn’t for you. Because it certainly wasn’t for me. It doesn’t matter how polite you are, how cordial or reasonable you are you have to build up “Karma” and a reputation to even post a comment. I had a comment stating “Mario Cart Be Like:” and it got taken down because it quote: “Violated rules and guidelines” but yet everyone on that same page is using curse words and other vulgar types of language. I put in an inquiry to see if I could get the situation resolved and I was a bit frustrated but at the same time I wanted to make sure I was being respectful. And I was essentially told to give a less “triggered inquiry” So me being me I chose to be the bigger man and apologize even though I had nothing to apologize for. But I stated to them many times that I come in peace and my objective is humor but not the type that makes targets or victims of anyone. And they told me to give a less “triggered response”. Which tells me the wheel is spinning inside their head but the hamster is dead. If you can’t stand ignorance avoid this.

Where are my communities?. Well, it finally happened - I finally ditched the official Reddit app for a Reddit client. A lot of users have had issues with many of the updates and general usability of the official app over the last couple of years but I hung in there. The final straw for me was when an update released a couple of weeks ago made it so my communities no longer display and it times out whole searching for them. I researched it, and others are experiencing the same thing which has been reported to Reddit but no fix has been provided in the handful of subsequent updates. I tried out a few other options and landed on an app that is reminiscent of Reddit’s glory days, complete with a responsive developer who interacts with the community and updates the app based on suggestions from actual users. Sorry Reddit, I love the platform but your app has degenerated so much I’ve decided it’s time to go - I’m leaving you for a third party app. Even if this bug were to be fixed and you change your ways, I’m happy with my new crush and don’t foresee myself coming back to you. It was fun while it lasted and I’ll look back on those years fondly, but you’ve changed for the worst - best of luck to you and your developers. Off I go, to spend time with my new Reddit squeeze :)

Constantly making terrible updates, never to be fixed. Devs can’t leave a good thing alone. App is constantly being updated and every time it is, it gets more frustrating to use. Good features are constantly being taken away and not replaced. Meanwhile, frustrating features that don’t make sense are all more common. Click on post title, and it no longer takes you to comments. It opens video player instead. Try to swipe on comment to collapse, and it changes the post entirely. It’s really feels like the people that make this app don’t use it at all. Not to mention they switched to a native video player that doesn’t work a large percentage of the time. What once was a reliable system, has been replaced by a faulty system that is consistently not working. It’d be different if this was experimental, or fixed with time. Instead, these changes are introduced with no concern for the user base, and what feels like no intention of being fixed. The community does not receive it well, and announces their displeasure. Then they are left that way, to never be touched again. Not very happy with the way this app has been managed the last few years. Going to have to switch to an alternative.

The Real Problem. So I’ve been on Reddit for around a week and I really loved it! The community was great and there was a lot to do there until recently. One day I went on and seemed to not be able to comment or post anything. I then found out a thing called being Shadowbanned which is what reddit dose to people if they break there rules. I find this reasonable as there needs to be a moderated platform for people. I looked more into it and went to the subreddit r/shadowban to see if I was shadowbanned and turns out I was. I then took the past 30 mins to got though the comments and posts I ever made and didn’t see anything. Of course if I got shadowbanned I have to happen to break the rules somehow, so I went to the mods them self’s to not be unshadowbanned but more of what I did wrong. Unfortunately to the dismay of me they never replied so I sent them any message asking kindly what I have done. The same thing happened and to this day I still don’t know why I got shadowbanned. Though all of this I’ve made 3 accounts and all shaowbanned trying to to break the rules, one of those accounts I literally made only 3 comments. I never written a Apple review before but this app has gotten me so upset I had to write a review. Reddit needs to implement something for people and get there acted together if they ever want me back again, I’m really disappointed with everything they did.

Does not care about users, moderators, or developers. At one point in time Reddit was a free speech centric community with quality content and communities and at this point in time it is an over-corporatized and over-valued app. The Reddit team has shown its lack of care for users with third party readers, developers of apps and bots that can help everything from getting you a job to automoderation, and moderators by making their jobs harder and threatening to replace the founders do once great communities for expressing their opinion on the current state of Reddit. Furthermore they are even unwilling to work with some developers who are willing to pay for the API access. This company has consistently said one thing and done the exact opposite for the last few years and the site is suffering because of it. With a notable example being Reddit stating they’d like to avoid being like elon and then weeks later admitting they’re actively replicating his business model which quite blatantly killed Twitter. After June 30th I will no longer be using or supporting Reddit, an app I once loved as an alternative to other social media platforms offered. I highly recommend no one else does either. Good luck with an IPO for a site based on the volunteer work of others after you’ve angered everyone who built your success, because I feel the near future for Reddit contains a lot of internal sabotage and debt.

Good Until Recent Update. I have been using the app for about 3 years now and it was great….Until the latest update. The problem in question is related to photos. You use to be able to click a photo and then double-tap to zoom in….Now you cannot. On top of that, it now opens the photo with the post text forcibly overlaid at the bottom. This will cut off the content for some of the photos. You use to be able to “light-tap” and the overlaid text would disappear, but now the “light tap” just does nothing. It also disables the ability for me to do the “force click” on my iPhone. Using the pressure sensor on the screen you could essentially “right-click” and it would bring up the share menu. All three of these features disappeared/appeared in the last two weeks. It’s absolutely awful and makes browsing Reddit an absolute chore. I’m not sure who or what made them change direction on such an simple feature. Making it infinitely more complicated without providing any actual features/improvements. Edit: Additionally in another new update. They made it so that if you click the like button, it actives the share button automatically afterwards….Now every time I like something, the app lags and tries to get me to share it….I have to close it and the app to get it to stop. WORST UPDATE IN THE HISTORY OF APPS.

Homophobic Employee. I am a long time customer of Keezers going back to the 80s so I was thrilled to see that a location has opened in my Porter Square neighborhood. I recently had alterations done to a dress for a wedding and I sent my son and his friend there to find clothing and have alterations done for the same weddings. Today my son went to pick up his jacket and to purchase a shirt. While he was shopping an older man with glasses and a beard was helping some customers and talking loudly about “trannies”. This word is a slur for transgender people and is as offensive as using the N word. My son let the man know the correct, inoffensive word for what he was talking about, to which the man replied that he didn’t care. My son then told him that he is a transgender person and that he found his language offensive. The man repeated that he didn’t care. If this man is an employee he should be fired immediately for this behavior as a representative of the business. If this person is the new owner, SHAME ON YOU! I will never shop in Keezers again and I will let all of my neighbors and friends know not to shop there. I will also post reviews describing the disgusting treatment of my son in this store. This is completely unacceptable and I will do everything in my power to make it clear this behavior won’t be tolerated.

Full of quirks and bugs. Lots of annoying bugs. On an up-to-date M1 iPad Pro. Can’t use the margins to scroll ONLY in the home feed. Oftentimes and randomly, the back arrow when reading a post from any feed will not work, the back arrow completely disappears, or the back arrow will open some random media full-screen. When on the home feed, leave the app momentarily and go back into it, the home feed is scrolled back to the top instead of where you were. Sometimes won’t play media. Some media automatically unmutes when played, some don’t - seems completely random. Randomly, the Home/Popular/News/Latest drop-down menu and the subscribed subs menu just disappears. Randomly, when trying to scroll down the home feed, the up swipes are interpreted as right swipes. In-app notification badge often does not automatically show up, must go into notifications tab and refresh. And oftentimes when clicking the title of a media post, it opens the media instead of going into the post. And when playing a video full screen the overlay doesn’t go away on its own, you have to tap to make it go away. Most of these behaviors seemed to have started recently, with an update of some sort. Edit: Reddit recently cut off third party apps. Now you can’t unsubscribe from subs and it doesn’t respond to ‘show fewer posts like this’. What a mess. Maybe fix your own app if you’re going to do this. App is still flaky and annoying to use with all these bugs!

I haven’t had any issues with the app till now—video player, I’m looking at you.. Man, sometimes I like to watch 5 second long videos, read the comments for a couple minutes, and get on with my day. Unfortunately now I can’t even do that because the video keeps looping, which turns my comment reading session into a torture session. Come on, is that tiktok ripoff trend so lucrative that you have to jump on it too? Nobody on Reddit wants tiktok on the platform—if they did they’d be using tiktok. Stop trying to be like the social media giants and go back to being your own thing! That’s why your user base exists and you’re gonna lose a lot of us if you keep making these awful choices. Ok but for real, the video player UI is just awful. On everything else the upvote/downvote buttons are on the left, but on the video player they’re on the right. The pause button is tiny. Pressing the “comments” icon takes you to the video instead of the comments, and to read the comments you have to pause the video first (if you care about your sanity). Scrolling on the video no longer takes you to the comments but to another random video. You can do better. Or wait, how bout you just go back to what was there? I never had an issue with the old player.

Chamberlain Garage Door. I bought a new Chmberlain Garage Door last July. About 10 days after it was installed it stopped working. When I called, I was told to make sure it was lined up. Still didn’t work. I called back and was told they would somebody to our house but there would be a service charge. I told him to forget it that I would hire somebody else. And I hung up. Got a call back and was told they would come out, no charge. When he came over. He was not happy and mumbled at me. He fixed it. I asked what was wrong and could I fix it in the future. He mumbled again an left. Same thing happened in two months. I called another company and the man fixed it in a few minutes. He told me that there was something wrong with the motor and I should call Chamerlin. I looked through the paperwork that I had but there was no phone number. I tried the internet and again could not fine a phone number. Unfortunately I forgot about it. Past weekend it happened again. I have a call in with a different vendor and plan on buying a new garage door

Somebody Janked Up iOS Users Posting This Update. Sooooo... I literally CAN NOT post anywhere now because I am getting the message "Not Allowed In This Community" on every single subreddit. I can comment, vote, give awards, and even spend currency on your app without any issue... ??!!BUT I CAN'T POST ANYWHERE BECAUSE YOUR iOS APP IS MAKING ME AS EITHER NSFW OR SOMETHING ALONG THAT LINES THAT'S LEFT ME BARRED FROM DOING THE ONE THING I USE REDDIT FOR!!?? It's not just myself but also many other iOS users whom are experiencing the exact same problem with no response, fix in app, tech support, or an update to fix this MAJOR BUG. If you aren't aware of this issue by now then you should be. An I can go figure you are all well aware; but you just don't care unless it is affecting a large majority, all users, or could hinder the income of this lazy but more than capable to be a better company regardless of current worth it should/could be... Money and Power must truly be something... Because every company that is built on a foundation of users like myself; every last one of these companies have forgotten why they are running a social networking community to begin with. Threatened w/ ban for reporting animal abuse. Automated message warned me that i would be permanently banned if i keep false reporting. I have only reported blatant rule breaks such as animal abuse and sexism. Examples of animal abuse and sexism: kids put fish in a toilet while laughing and then flushed the toilet. Woman was saying men are genetically inferior and need to be cleansed from the gene pool. Reddit reviewed both and said that there was no rule break. Now i have been suspended for quoting a racist that i was responding to. They were saying variations of “why is it always [insert group of people based on skin color] doing x y z”, and i made an intelligent response after quoting the racist, clearly making a case for antiracism. I got suspended for “attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people” because reddit doesn't know what quotation marks mean. I have since found out that this is a common occurrence. Worst of all, this app is absolute brain rot and should be avoided at all costs. Over Fifty percent of redditors are children and the other half are people immature enough to use an app run by children for children. Ive already muted over fifty subreddits, but the brain rot has pervaded to ever corner of reddit. 6 years ago the app was better (but still a waste of time) and it has been in a sharp decline for at least 3 years now.

Let’s talk about the app itself, and not the website. Honestly I’d have to recommend that anyone installing Reddit for the first time find a different app to use it. Long time Reddit users have almost always hated the official app, but I never really understood their problem with it. I liked the UI, and there were a bunch of useful QoL features that other Reddit apps didn’t have. That is no longer the case. ~1.5 years ago every update started breaking or outright stripping those features. They’re always small changes. No one change really makes that big of an impact. Things like no longer being able to change the view (card, normal, compact) on search results, the weird comment ‘tray’ that prevents you from swiping horizontally between posts, the endless compatibility issues with various embedded video hosting sites, etc. The official app isn’t as broken as some people make it out to be. However, I still advise that new users not climb onboard the sinking ship. Any features you like/get used to in the official app will be removed before long, and there will be no way to get it back. Find an app made by a 3rd party that factors community feedback into development decisions.

Zero Customer Service. I was actually a huge fan of Reddit. I frequently purchased coins to give away fake internet awards, I purchased many of their collectibles and I finally started paying for premium. I much preferred Reddit over other social media apps like Discord and Twitter, but that all changed thanks to my experience these last few months. I was just before my two year cake day and ended up with something I’m told is an “IP ban” a ban evasion that never occurred because I was no longer banned in the sub at the time the comments were made. It all started after I was unbanned from a community and as soon as I posted my first comment in that sub, I received a temporary ban. After the temp ban was over, I reached out to the subreddit mods and to support to make sure that I was officially in the clear to make comments in that sub again. The mods said I was fine, but Reddit support never responded. I took a chance and made a comment on that sub again and, boom….permanent ban. I have made multiple requests to support with zero response, other than “the ban stands”. It’s as if nobody is reading or investigating what I have been explaining. Any reasonable person could look at the evidence I am providing (screen shots from the mods) and see that the permanent ban was in error.

They need a new moderator system.. I’m tired of my account being temporarily banned for 7 days on certain subreddits when I don’t do anything wrong. If a mod doesn’t like something you say that’s all it takes even if it’s civil. If you try to appeal it, most of the time the message won’t even send. The mod and appeal system is a joke, because the mod that made the ban refuses to change their mind. The app is broken half the time and doesn’t work. Either server error or try again later. I never bully or harass anyone. My latest ban was because I gave my opinion on a post that someone asked for opinions. Yes that’s it. The mods reasoning was “don’t yuck someone else’s yum”. The OP was literally asking for fashion advice. I was civil and simply stated I didn’t like ONE out of the 7 outfits in question. That resulted in my account being temporary banned for 7 days. They allow anyone to be moderators and if they don’t agree with you, they can do whatever they want. I see many bullying comments that get ignored. I guess on Reddit you’re allowed to be a bully as long as the mod agrees with you. Freedom of speech is only allowed on Reddit if the mod agrees with you. Broken app and broken mod system.

Useless updates and unintuitive AI. Wow! This app was great a few years ago; always my go-to! It was easy to navigate and preferred it over the desktop version. But ever since they changed the video player, it’s been going downhill. The community has been vocal about the bad updates and begged to go back, but the developers basically told everyone to kick sand. I dealt with the video player because I didn’t like any alternatives, but recently, they moved the ‘sort by’ menu to the settings! You know how to tap 3 buttons to get to the menu vs the original 1. Why would they change this? Incompetence. For the sake of changing stuff, they change THE most used feature on the app. With this update, it is my final use of this horrid app. Maybe it will change in the future, but with other social media platforms incorporating videos into their app, I doubt Reddit mobile will stray away. The best thing about Reddit was that it was a social media platform that didn’t *feel* like a social media app, but now they’re moving in that direction with their exclusive, dumb ideas. It’s a shame, I’ll be using the alternative and learning it from the beginning because Reddit mobile is NOT getting better and getting much, much worse. 1 star. Terrible app. Deleted.

Declining features. I’ve used this app for years. For the last 2 and half years or so, almost every update tries to ‘refine’ the app to make it better. It adds in recommendations that I don’t want, new tabs I never asked for, breaks the post swipe feature (or just outright removes it), forces the media player into a poor TikTok replica that no one asked for. I miss the way this app worked from about 3 years ago. The search bar at the top didn’t randomly break, the video’s actually played mostly correct. For how much I use the app, I can’t really be justified in giving it a 1 star. Considering that this app is marketed as the official Reddit app, I’d expect them to know their target audience, but competing apps are only growing more popular due to new and increasing issues with this app. I’m probably not leaving Reddit for a long while, but I don’t know how much longer I can commit to this app. June 18, 2023 Updated the app a couple weeks ago. I absolutely love how often the app crashes, I cannot scroll for me than 10-15 minutes before it crashes. If I’m on the app for a few minutes, background it, lock my phone and come back an hour or two later, it’ll crash almost immediately. I’m going down to a 1 star review because the app is literally only growing worse. That’s also not even touching the removal of 3rd party apps. I did not think it would get worse, and then it did.

Now requires account to follow. I’m not really into social media due to the lack of privacy and mundane content. Reddit is the most I do. I really liked that I could follow more positive, uplifting feeds and as a result didn’t have to stroll thru everything. Since it was updated (the previous one, not the one 5 days ago), now it asks you to create an account to follow specific feeds. I don’t know if you can still view only your chose feeds cuz I don’t care to create an account when I didn’t have to before. Looking at Reddit in its entirety influences me negatively, hence the reason I only followed Calvin & Hobbes, Earth Porn, Humans Being Bros, and Animals Being Bros. Before the update, Reddit started with my feed and I had the option to view Popular. Now all you have is Popular and News. I gave the new update a try for over two months but now I find myself feeling anxious or angry after strolling Reddit, just as I used to do before I began following more positive feeds only. Creating an account may be a simple matter for many but it’s not for me. To me it’s another way for tech to have some of your private information when it’s not necessary. I don’t do comments or votes so why should I have to sign in? So after giving the new Reddit a try, I’ve decided it’s best for me to delete it.

Censorship is unreal. So I wanted to make a post first to the admins but since I can’t this will have to suffice. I challenged a lot of the narratives that were coming out regarding vaccine efficacy and waning immunity back in July from preprints (that are now published). Instead of accepting the debate, I was permanently banned from several subreddits. Okay, fine. So I create a new account because your company essentially banned my speech. I posted completely different comments on a totally different topic (and nothing controversial either) that just so happens to be in the same subreddit. What happens? Permabanned. I used a completely different email and everything. Literally it must have been through my device ID. Like you shove content down my throat automatically, and whenever I create an account (forgetting I was banned) that account now gets auto banned just for using the device. Not ONLY was I vindicated by what I was saying through the science, but now I am unable to speak on any other topics just because I posted something some of the mods didn’t personally like several months back. This is the issue with censorship. You silence voices and create an echo chamber, and additionally those voices that are silenced now become enemies of the entire system.

Every time they fix one thing, they break three more.. Every time this app updates, it gets worse. They change useless things like the visuals of the buttons to save images and videos (if and when that works). On that note, for reasons unknown to man or beast, heaven or earth, they removed the ability to save GIFs. It’s not the first time, and I assume sooner or later it’ll be back and they’ll want praise for once again doing the absolute bare minimum. The ability to save videos almost never works either, unless you know the trick to go to comments, go back, press the save button again, and hope to your personal god *that* works. Even if it does work, for some reason the videos always save without sound. All of these used to be features that inexplicably are constantly removed, changed, replaced, and put back. Honestly, I don’t know why this app, of all apps, needs to update this much. Especially when most of the changes are aesthetic and the ones that aren’t always make things worse. I never got a chance to use any of the third-party apps, but I wish that I had. The only reason I’m giving this two stars instead of one is so that people don’t think that this is a fake review and it gets filtered out. This is a real review and real frustration from a real user. But it’s like the people who designed this app don’t actually use it themselves. Just make things work and then leave it alone.

Issues opening Reddit from Safari. I really like Reddit and I try to browse the forums and threads frequently but I’m pretty frustrated with the repeated issues I’ve had. Reddit frequently forgets my account so I’m pretty much always signed out. And my major problem right now is whenever I pull up Safari and try to google a particular thread to look at, the link will redirect me to Reddit. That fine except it’s super janky. I’ll say yes go to app and it will (on Safari) switch to a second page and then give me a second pop telling me I need to download the Reddit app (which I obviously already have). It will pull up Reddit at that point despite telling me I don’t have the app 🤦🏼‍♀️ It usually rapid fire switches between a whole bunch of blank pages on Reddit before finally loading whatever page I was trying to look at. Again, I really like Reddit but I definitely feel like the app is not refined. I don’t have these issues with any of the dozens of other apps I have and use regularly, including redirected to from Safari. I never encounter these issues except with Reddit. I explained best I could, but it’s very weird and frustrating. Hopefully Reddit can fix these issues. (And yes I always check and update Reddit, it never fixes it.)

Banned for no reason. This app is so sensitive. I got heavily downvoted then BANNED PERMANENTLY for saying ‘I think you need to read the post again..’ which the person did.. He asked a question that was ANSWERED IN THE POST and was heavily informed about that exact question. And since I got downvoted hard, and I guess some people reported me, I got banned. I tried to make another account but they banned that one too. I’m scared that they banned my IP address because my mom uses Reddit and I don't want her account to get banned just because mine did.. I looked up this issue and this is a HUGE problem on reddit. You literally can’t have your own opinion on this app, or say anything that will POSSIBLY upset people. And if you do, its downvotes, downvotes, downvotes. Then it will be led by subreddit banning or permanent banning. I can understand if someone was being racist, homophobic or just disrespectful. But I see the simplest comments get downvoted. One time, on r/aww it was a video of a woman with her dog at the gym and the dog was being cute or whatever. Some people were wondering why she was allowed to have a dog at the gym so someone answered saying, “She owns the gym, so thats why the dog is there:)” and it had -30 DOWNVOTES??!! WHY?! People on that app are SO sensitive! And they were right!! I looked it up and she did own the gym! And guess what? I tried to click on their account and it was banned. Probably for literally just that one comment. Do better Reddit.

Mods have too much power. The way Reddit works essentially is that anyone can claim a subreddit that isn’t already taken and create their own mod team. This means if you don’t want people to talk about baseball cards and you are the first person to get the subreddit r/baseballcards you can essentially shut down any conversation from ever happening about the subject on the platform. Not only that, if they actually want to let people talk about it they can police and ban them w/o giving any reason meaning subreddits often become home to power hungry mods who ban you for disagreeing with them even if not directly. Reddit has no problem with this because the site is big enough that the people effected don’t make enough noise to cause problems for the rest of the users nor do they have any form of recourse. They can appeal to the mod team of the subreddit but they will more than likely end up talking to the person who banned them. You can appeal directly to the Reddit mod team but like I said, they won’t care because as a mod you can ban anyone for any reason so they will say they aren’t breaking any rules. And don’t fool yourself if you are thinking this kind of degenerate mod behavior is exclusive to political subs and the like, it is every corner of reddit. The mods have too much power so of course it goes to their heads. There needs to be some kind of standard mods are held to, it has completely ruined the website.

One annoyance.... I honestly like the official Reddit app way better than any other third-party apps I've tried. However, I have one minor annoyance that's grown into a major gripe over time: whenever I use Safari to Google search something, and a Reddit post is in the search results, if I click the link there's a pop-up that says "See Reddit in..." and I have the option to open the page in the Reddit app or continue with the web browser. My problem is, whenever I try to open the page in the Reddit app, I'm sent to the app store as if I hadn't installed the app. I have never been able to open a link from Safari in the Reddit app, and I've tried everything. The app is up to date, I've tried opening the app before clicking the link and it still won't take me to the app. Honestly, if this was fixed I'd give 5 stars. The Reddit app is really good. But this is just so annoying, and it's difficult to search for a specific post within the app so there's no real workaround. So I'm just hoping the devs see this and find a way to fix it. I'm using an iPhone XR 128GB, if that matters.

Reddit has been a good app until now. I love this app, I really do but when the developers made it so when you tap a photo or a video it goes to this different player that when you scroll up it goes to a random video from a subreddit that you haven’t joined. I mean yes I know why that it was changed to do that, so you can have more variety on watching similar content. For awhile I got passed that for videos by taping a photo and swiping to the left to get to the video but now in a recent update they made it so taping on photos does the same thing with videos which at least for me it really annoying. I know just me saying this won’t get anything changed so I’m hoping that other people agree with me or at least make it a setting to change it back to the way it was before you changed it to what you have now for a video player. Adding this after making this review, also why did the developers get rid of the sorting system that they had to change it to new, hot, top, or controversial it’s just bad app design to get rid of these things that people love about Reddit but changing it to this, I’m not really mad just annoyed and kinda disappointed in the developers on getting rid of the sort option and changing the video player

Server Error. My thoughts on Reddit have been rather positive until today. I comment or post like I usually would with no issues until now. I have been logged out & unable to log back into my account, not being able to create a new account either. The issue that keeps popping up is a “server error” & to “try again later”. I’ve deleted the app, re-downloaded it & I’ve restarted my phone. I’ve tried to log in online since the app isn’t allowing me to & even there it’s saying “server error, try again later” You guys need to fix this bug, I’m afraid I’ve lost my account to this so please fix it.

One of the best time killers. I’m in love with this app. No one social media platform can gang up together so well, be it disliking emojis or Tik Tok. It’s so addictive, just scrolling and scrolling. It’s great for memes, news, politics and just plain cool stuff. The whole concept of having multiple little social media’s in your social media (or supreddits, as they are called) is genius. You can join the ones you enjoy to just see things you like, and with one swift swipe you’ll be in the popular tab, seeing what the rest of the world likes. I highly recommend downloading this app, and remember to always downvote ads!

Riddled with ads and soulless too. Coming from a reddit user of over 10 years, reddit took over alien blue and turned it into this monstrosity. The app has useless promoted content suggestions that cannot be opted out and the navigation is more akin to TikTok than one you actually drive for the content you want to see yourself. Suggestions to the devs have fallen on deaf ears and their focus is only to monetise and collect data from users. Was a reddit premium user but the constant tone deaf feedback (or lack of it) means that this app and the platform will slowly die on a hill for a platform that solely relies on grass roots content generation. The new API changes for third party developers takes the icing on the cake. This reddit app was purely used for new chat purposes (what’s with that? There’s DM, chat and new chat) and now they’re forcing third parties to funnel to their app. No thank you.

I like reading video comments and for some reason, they don’t show when watching videos in landscape. This worked fine before the app update. Note that I can view comments in portrait mode, just not landscape. Fix it reddit.

Bring back “Latest”. This morning, I did my standard thing and went to the “latest” view - because I’m apparently some kind of oddity that wants to see things from their communities in chronological order instead of some arbitrary algorithmic nonsense order, then this evening (right before bothering to type up this review) I go to have a bit of a scroll, and to my surprise there’s no “latest”. This one simple change makes the app literally unusable to me, because after maybe 2 dozen posts from subreddits I actually follow (and probably about half as many posts again as ads) it just becomes endless “you might like this community” bs. Why are social media platforms so adamant about their users not seeing things how THEY want?

Not an original thought.. Reddit Inc once again showing their employees don’t have any idea what reddit is, that they don’t employ any UX engineers / designers and instead just try to clone the latest craze app into their own. This months update brings us the TikTok interface to navigating posts that have videos. Who needed to see comments anyway? Now all videos loop and the entire post is just a single button to open the video in full screen. If you try to swipe it away it just shows a different video instead. No more reading or engaging on reddit. Just blindly consume never ending videos instead because that’s apparently popular now.

Your Moderators Need to remain neutral. I love Reddit...BUT !! your Moderators are the worst. I am hoping someone will look into this as it's really killing your user base and there ability to speak from a left right or even a neutral standpoint. They take things personally and clearly target you if you offend them (which is easily done) Internal politics, bias targeting and threats to ban you for something minor and unintentional is a big downfall in any company, community or social platform. You end up feeling like your treading on eggshells afraid that you will offend a moderator. Some of your Moderators need to be taken down a peg or two as it's clear the power they have been given has gone to their heads. Aside from all the above Reddit to me is the best social platform, just needs to check those dudes (and dude-ets) a little more often. ✌️

Not user friendly. First time user. I’ve had an account for 20 minutes. I made an account thinking I could quickly get a question answered about a video I have. Very disappointed. I can’t post my video in the big communities. The small communities allow me to post my video but they are dead. I found a large community in which I could post the link to the video I posted in the smaller community, but moderators removed my post because supposedly it is a question and does not belong there. Mods suggested another community for me to post my question, but this community does not allow me to post links or videos... absolute waste of time.

What a shame. I love reddit, I spend inordinate a Libra of time daily there. Well I did. The new app is full of poor choices that seem to have been done to transform it into TikTok. The video player is now broken, scrolling through casually is broken, reading comments on videos broken. Can’t even pause a video while scrolling. The whole design is just not user friendly now. Then the annoying notifications to join subs or to like posts whenever you purposely didn’t in the first place. Disappointing that Reddit didn’t listen or engage their users. I use Reddit because I expect more, expect better than other social networks. There has not been one single post about liking the updates. Go check out r/redditmobile.

Here, but not by choice. Reddit Inc. should be ashamed of the way they’ve treated third-party developers. This app is a poor substitute. I don’t mind the presence of ads (I was fine with them in third-party apps as well, but I guess you weren’t), but the way they’re integrated here is bad. A banner ad would be far more tasteful and less confusing that the native nonsense that goes on right now. The compact view is less compact that narwhal, meaning I see less posts at a time. There’s only two things I can say the official app does right - it lets me set favourites, and it supports swiping for back navigation. These are not high bars to cross! I will never understand why your company, and Twitter, despise third-party developers so much. Their impressive work should *inspire* you to do better, not feel threatened that your non-existent monopoly should be enforced no matter what. This is petty, and I will never view this app with the same gratitude and appreciation I showed to my clients of choice. My mobile usage of Reddit, as a result, will decrease. Do better.

reddit does not care about its users. killing 3rd party apps is nothing but an exercise of corporate greed and an absolute disregard for this website's users. the users are the heart and soul of reddit and literally the reason reddit can make profits at all. increasing your API request pricing sends a loud and clear message than you do not care about your moderators (who keep your site running for free) or anybody with disability who requires an accessible format to engage with content on reddit. (and don't pretend the reddit app is equipped to accomodate blind people in its current state..) this is a pathetic cash grab and until reddit decides to change, this will remain a cruel reminder that this company cares about monopolising its niche for maximum profits with no regard for how that affects the users that let reddit profit in the first place.

Good app but needs tweaking. Love the app but you can't do certain things on it. You can't do certain things through the app that you can on the computer. My friend can't turn off NSFW shield to view certain pages for example. Also I don't like how you can't leave the app on a thread, page or post for hours or days etc. it switches back to the homepage after a few hours which gets annoying when you have to go search for it again. Why not just return where you left off like a computer would behave? Other than these little gripes it's a fine app

Reddit should have just bought Apollo. This app is rubbish. Reddit had an amazing IOS app called Apollo. That went away with API nonsense. Now we’re left with this turkey. Bugs galore like having a previously post stuck in the background so when you swipe out of a post it shows the old post instead of the Reddit. Watch a video, then that audio gets played again when you watch something else. Crashes , sure does. Fails to register taps of course. Slow & unresponsive would you have it any other way ? Remember redditor you’re not the customer you’re the revenue source, you don’t need a great IOS app hell you don’t even get a mediocre one. Spez is a bundle of sticks.

Great with problems. The website is great the format is simple and easy to understand and it’s a good idea to have different places for different conversations but the mods are kinda dumb, I got banned for writing a harmful comment when the post itself is more harmful than my comment and there’s no way to get unbanned unless it was a mistake witch it stupid since you could have committed something years ago and get banned for it when you wrote it when you were a dumb teen this is only one of the many other dumb things that the I see the mods doing.

New "buy coins" logo is gross.. The app as a whole is okay. Buggy with weird design choices but it was the first reddit app I used so I'm too used to it to change. However, as the company continues to come up with ways to monetise it gets worse and worse. First it was ads that you had to pay a subscribtion to remove. Then it was adding a million different ways to reward users with useless icons that cost actual money and in most cases offer nothing. The latest update added a big coin logo at the top of the front page next to the search bar just so you never forget that you can spend money to buy absolutely pointless "coins". Hilariously the icon is bigger than any of the reward icons actual posts get. And unlike regular reddit ads this icon begging you to spend money doesn't go away when you have gold. The glory days of Reddit are long behind us. That's reality. Every knew decision the company makes seems to be anti consumer however which leads me to believe that the platform won't plateau at mediocre, it will nose dive itself into becoming indistinguishable from any other social media platform.

I love you reddit!!. After deleting Facebook their was a void in my life, constantly refreshing news sites and endless scrolling of instagram just could never make quite the impact that I so desperately needed, then, I stumbled across reddit, it’s not as popular in my country as it is in the states, but after using it I can’t seem to figure out why! I am in love with the community, and I feel more informed about social and current events both national and international, minus all of the drama, complaining and censorship that has been riddling Facebook for the last couple of years. Thank you reddit, you give me the hit every internet junkie is looking for, you got me hooked!

Used to be great. Reddit used to be a place where you could go and speak to others about all kind of different topics, but things have changed in the last 5 yrs. It’s true that the mods have way too much power, with no accountability. I got banned from a large subreddit purely because I was part of another subreddit that I didn’t even participate in. I often join subreddits, even those that may oppose my own political view, purely to read a balanced perspective…but when you’re being banned entirely for merely having joined a sub that a mod doesn’t like, it’s beyond incompetent. There needs to be a larger overseeing of all moderators that keep everyone in check. It’s disappointing to see that some mods put themselves on such a pedestal, with no checks and balances. Secondly, the amount being charged for some avatars is insane. It was bad enough when coins to award posts were all we had to pay for, but some of the prices for a mere drawing of an avatar are just beyond…Is ad revenue that low? It can’t be, literally every 4-5th post is an ad. Reddit has gone from a place for fun integration and healthy debate, to a money hungry, power hungry mess.

Nice. Reddit is an app where you can find a subreddit (like a small section of the app) that suits you. E.G. : Memes, Politics, Humour, public freakouts, casual conversations. The only problems I have in my opinion is while subreddits are entitled to their views I have seen a few particular subs ONLY delete hate comments to a certain group of people (E.G. “Religious People Should Die”... “Black people deserve what they have” etc.) when the post makes the front page. I am also severely annoyed at the excessive amount of notifications this app gives. I would turn them off but then I would also be blocking notifications from people who reply to me. Notifications like “Trending in this subreddit is (post I’m not interested in)” Overall a much safer place than most social media as long as you stay away from subreddits that show hate (and for some reason are not deleted though they break reddit TOS).

Bugs bugs bugs. With every update it gets buggier. I used to love this app, now as I’m scrolling, half of a previous post I was looking at will pop up on top of another post. The new comment format doesn’t work half the time (don’t know why it needed to be changed), entire comment threads will disappear or I won’t be able to scroll down without it springing back to the top comment. Sometimes I can’t even click the button to see the comments. I’m not on an old phone, my iOS is up to date - I don’t understand why it’s getting worse, shouldn’t it be getting better?

Lots of worthwhile subs but the mods are ruthless.. I enjoy reddit but it is fraught and filled with women wanting you to join their onlyfans, but there’s also wonderful, fulfilling and worthwhile subs like r/mademesmile . I just wish the mods on the various subs weren’t drunk with the power to silence other redditors. They love using the ban hammer! You won’t get a warning, you’ll be banned swiftly from any sub you might post in, and no amount of trying to work it out like adults will work. Most often your messages to explain your side will be ignored. If you are bothered by being downvoted for sharing your thoughts despite it not being in line with the majority of people, then yes, download this app. Perhaps Quora is more suitable, or even Imgur. Use at your own risk and if you have depression or anxiety, perhaps you should reconsider using this app.

Reddit Is incredible. You all should know that, so instead of reviewing the service I'm reviewing the mobile application, it works great. I came from a state of thinking that revolved around me being biased towards pc, thinking the mobile version of reddit would be terrible and un-optimised, it is neither of those things it works perfectly!! Why the 4 stars? Merely because to alter some settings you need to do that from the desktop site, which it redirects you to, this may be a hinderance or merely an annoyance to some mobile users.

New logo. Hi so as a new update you have changed the logo colour to show that black lives matter, you will by most change change it back but I thing a good feature would be having the option to change imbeteween Colours (even if just black and orange) I would love to see this feature as no other apps let you do this (as far as I know could be wrong) and don’t know if it is possible, love your app, it has given me a reason to get up in the morning, thank you

Better than the others, but has it's share of crazies. Reddit is a great social media platform as it allows you to laser focus in on certain areas of interest with its subreddits, developing great communities of like minded people. However, there are certainly areas of reddit that attract the lesser nature of man. The site wide moderation is often not enough to keep these corners clean and so they can often become far worse than a bigot ever could on Twitter. It's good to keep in mind that this is a downside of not only all social media, but society. There are bad people. But reddit helps you find what makes you happy if you look for it instead of letting yourself get tempted into the usual social media anger and sadness traps.

Good BUT. I love this app for the adult content but there’s a few issues -It’s easier to find posts on reddit through google search then reddit search -adult videos don’t have sound -page won’t refresh sometimes -to use grid view I have to refresh first -custom feeds are basically gone But you can find them if you save the link to your notes -no grid view on saved posts -comments can string on and on and on, without an option to “read more” it just has literally every comment open already… -Isn’t this website a huge mainstream social media? Disgraceful honestly.

Recent api changes. Reddit has made a very bad decision by disabling api access. Many subreddits rely on api access for moderation and function. Third party apps are getting killed too. The official app’s performance is very poor and has too many bugs and glitches and not enough functions. You can’t even format text properly and have to go back and edit your comment. Pretty much all bots are gone now, except for the ones that flood subreddits with explicit content. And now the moderators can’t even do anything about it. This is the equivalent of google not only limiting access to their website through google chrome only, but also disabling all extensions and modifications, unless the extension developers pay google $20 million per year. I really hope they revert these changes because if they don’t I think the whole site will just die.

Is called a reddit hole. Be careful you can lose an hour easy. It can be super helpful if you have issues - you can find support or different ways to look at things or approaches to try and you can find out that you’re not alone. And it’s great to be anonymous. That’s probably the most powerful opportunity. But there’s just general mindless entertainment and hobby stuff and special interest opportunities too. There’s a few trolls but it’s not too big of a deal. You can report then if you can be bothered. You will be misunderstood but you can handle it. Careful of that reddit hole.

Horror Experience at Bellagio. Bellagio has been the worst experience. There is no complimentary service incl water or consierge downstairs. You have to wait for hours to get checked in and the whole process is conducted without any smile or desire to make you welcome. The whole hotel aim is to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. Smoke and mad crowds sitting in front of poker machines fill the whole downstairs area. The pool is overcrowded and closes early. In the room the fridge is full of their own overpriced beverages and alcohol and it took us 2 days fight to get the alcohol removed. Everywhere are sensors and you can’t move things from these shelves without them charging the credit card. The room wasn’t cleaned on daily bases. On top of that they failed to follow the protocol and didn’t check the TV between stays. Without any evidence nor contacting us they just claimed we broke it and charged over $2000 AUD for it.

Terrible UI and poor business decisions. What kind of stupid app resets your defaults constantly? I don’t want to get notifications. Stop turning the option back on. Don’t get be wrong, I absolutely love Reddit - but this mobile app is straight garbage. Frequent updates which unnecessarily change the UI layout lead to a frustrating user experience. The settings bar would move from the left to the right for no reason other than…to be different, I guess? This really messes with the muscle memory and I absolutely despise such changes. Reddit’s stance on 3rd party apps is wrong and I condone Reddit’s behaviour. They’ve lied and disrespected 3rd party app developers and it’s shameful what this company has resorted to. Make your app better and incorporate the hundreds of features that 3rd party apps can do before going after them and then maybe, just maybe, I’ll give you an extra star on this review.

Moderators problem abuse their power. You get banned for no reason or minor issues they are not being fair, use their power to do whatever they want remove your post mute you if they don’t like it. Super unreasonable. These moderators are crazy they need to be sent to the mental initiation for a reality check. They refuse to communicate with you cause they hold power against you. They are biased and hold grudges suddenly accuse you your post from months ago too make up nonsense excuse to remove or ban because they are offended when you speak up. Absolute terrible. I do get some good advice from other users, however, the politics need to change, the app isn’t good, and I fully agree with some other reviews on here that pointed out the same issue I said.

A saga of disappointment. While this app looks nice, it lacks so many great features from Alien Blue. At this point it's just not worth getting. Devs, please keep supporting Alien Blue, at least until this app is almost the same. Until then I'm going to stick with AB until this app is either on par with it or it stops working (Please keep supporting it). The above was written many years ago. Since then, the official reddit app has not improved in the slightest, becoming a masterclass in what to avoid in UI design and devolving into an ad filled mess. I would not be surprised to see the further tik-tokification of the platform go into overdrive with the recent events regarding third party apps being shut down. These third party apps (specifically Apollo) have provided an outstanding platform to browse reddit on, with clean UI, fast response, no ads, moderator functionality and excellent community engagement. The official reddit app is genuinely worse than browsing the website in safari. On June 30 the third party apps will disappear, and I would recommend getting a taste of what you have been and will miss out on in the future by using this absolute garbage software.

The video player is impossible to use. The video player has recently been updated and is now completely impossible to use on iPhone. The scrub bar is so low that you cannot scrub through a video without exiting the app! How did that get through testing?! Not to mention that when you click on ‘comments’ for some reason it takes you to a full screen video instead of taking you to, you know… THE COMMENTS. Why?! And the videos won’t load full screen, you have to exit back out to watch the video. Have your developers gone on holiday and you’ve replaced them with particularly dexterous goldfish?

Bugs galore. I wish we had the third party apps back. This app has many bugs relating to the browsing of posts including the app having to refresh the comments so the first time you go into the comments, it will refresh you may have tried to hide some of the comments or scroll, but then the screen will automatically change and refresh the next bug I have is when I’ve gone through to another sub Reddit from say comment link, or a link and a comment if I go to swipe back after viewing that it will take me back another step instead of just the one step.

On the whole…. on the whole it’s great; I like helping people, I probably like clutching my pearls over the trashy people, I definitely feel schadenfruede when the baddies get their comeuppance. Do some of the moderators make me pull my hair out for sure! Bans can work both ways;There’s always another subreddit to go to I have learnt so much. My only regret is that Reddit wasn’t about earlier to stop me from making so many mistakes

I love the app, here are some suggestions. I love reddit, the layout is great the content is as good as the internet can provide and the service is great. However I believe we should be able to get an in app NSFW button and an in app section to show us what email we are using, or at least a setting to change it in app. Recently I have had trouble and been in need of this as I have forgotten what one of my three main emails my account is linked to, and in the future I would like to be able to change it in app. this is a small thing but, because I have forgotten my password I can not log into the desktop site and enable nsfw. This has degraded my experience and made it a lot more of a hassle to use reddit and change my preference of nsfw items, thanks.

New “feature” is infuriating. Devs, this new “feature” that has the “Add a comment” bar at the bottom of your screen whenever browsing the comments section is INFURIATING. The amount of times I accidentally click it is obscene. It was so much better before where the bar was shown only when you swiped down, rather than it being there all the time. Please revert this back or at least give users the option to not have it there permanently. Review will change to a higher rating when this is fixed Edit: change has still not been fixed but have updated star rating because reddit is great

Inspiring as!. As this is only my second day using this app, I find it useful, as it can help me find questions to reality. I also like answering questions too! There is so much to explore. You can post things of your own, write questions, find answers! I would really like to see some more updates in the future, but for now they are really great! My advice is to keep the app updated as much as you could. Thank you for reading.

Transparent hate speech and toxicity. I like reddit. I’ve subscribed to a bunch of great communities that are fun and constructive. But the flagrant hate speech and toxicity, and no way to combat it makes this app feel like 4chan sometimes. Communities on the front page like ‘Imthemaincharacter’ pride themselves on bullying and harassment, and while I often agree that some of these people deserve to be taken down a peg, the blatant vitriolic attitude to women especially is obvious. Reddit needs to be better, because it’s full to the brim with harassment of all kinds. Anyway, I guess this is just me becoming tired of it all. I wish I didn’t have to use an app that is okay with all this just to access a couple of positive niche communities.

Very good, but moderators hold way too much power, and hidden messages keep reappearing. As the title says, you speak against the status quo on a number of subreddits (r/worldpolitics for example) and you get a permaban. You don’t have to be rude or obnoxious, left, middle, right, or anything, and you get banned. You just have to comment against their personal view and your whole freedom to participate in the subreddit is taken away with no warnings or anything. Freedom of speech and impartiality aren’t really valued by moderators, meaning every comment on their subreddit aligns with their values. This heavily influences all reddit users opinions that read the comments as they don’t get a full range of opinions. As a US based company, reddit needs to be more open and free, a platform that resembles a democracy and not an autocracy. They hold too much power with no consequence. Also whenever I delete a previous conversation by pressing “hide”, it just re appears the next time I open the app. Really annoying. All message requests also reappear after pressing “ignore”. Serious glitch here that seems to have been going on for a couple of months now as per previous queries raised about it on r/reddit.

10/10. Reddit... I have no words. It's amazing. Users anywhere and everywhere are able to post, vote and comment. I always laugh when I'm on reddit! I truly thing it's one of the best platforms ever! There's honestly nothing wrong with it! I've been reading negative reviews for a single reason which consists of the new notification feature! It is easily disabled in settings on the app. If you can't find it, one single Google search will show you how to disable the notifications. There's really no reason for all these negative reviews!

Didn’t expect this. I had been on reddit for 3 years, would get online very occasionally for niche things I wanted to make/ do but never truely understood the greatness of this app. It has a great outreach and allows for opportunity to collaborate interests and passions, whilst also providing advice and information to those interested. Its use of sub groups allows for users to only see what they’re interested or intended to view instead of other unwanted imformation.

Oh god what have I done?. This app might seem fine on the outside but please god don’t be fooled. It starts with the funny cats and dog videos, then to the funny jokes and videos, then to some harmless memes, and then the next thing you know, you’ve been jerking your manly third leg at some sounding (don’t look that up) or some weird human-animal anime hybrid and you haven’t touched grass in two years! Don’t be foolish. Just stick to the pewdiepie and jacksepticeye videos related to Reddit and continue browsing tic tok! This is not a joke, it’s a warning. Don’t be like me. Don’t be like us. It’s too late for us, it’s not for you. Also don’t go to 4 chan that’s MUCH worse.

A sub-par forced experience. This app has forever been a disappointment. While reddit communities are kept alive by the content shared and moderated by users, the official app is a woeful experience. The only saving grace has been 3rd party apps, which thanks to short-sightedness and stubbornness are now forced to close. I've been a daily active user for many years. I won't redownload the official app, nor will I use reddit anymore. I'll mourn the loss of communities and knowledge, and curse the corporate mindset of greed that failed to consider where its content (and profit) comes from - the users generating and moderating content. Best of lack crashing your IPO, not that you'll need it.

The app itself is great. I use reddit a lot, whenever I get bored, it’s community sometimes isn’t very good but you gotta learn how to avoid them, it’s actual app is good to use I don’t really notice any problems when using it, though it would be nice if at the submit section of making a post they could make a small image editor so you can make a title or edits to the image to make posting a little easier. Overall though it’s good

An “offical” app which is officially useless. Unfortunately I was forced to install and use this app since the latest apple iOS update made Reddit Blue unusable on my iPad. Sorry Reddit I didn’t change because of the invasive advertisement for your offical app, which appears on almost everything (it also covers half the screen). I used Reddit Blue comfortably for years, albeit with the casual crash. Fortunately the offical app doesn’t have that issue, and for the most part it is a solid app, but it is far from perfect. A particularly aggravating issue is the tendency for gifs and videos to not load. And the only solution reported seems to be to completely reset the app. Which also interrupts the place you were reading. Considering Reddit seems to be 50% gifs and videos I would say this is pretty far from okay. Researching this issue shows that it has been known about for over a entire year and the developers seem to either or not car or are to incompetent to fix it. I never used the offical app because it was never good years ago and now I’ve been stripped of a choice.

Used to be great. Honestly just take this app around the back and end it’s misery. It’s crazy slow, the video player is a joke, it force closes every day, you got rid of the news tab, and on top of all that you somehow make it worse with every update. Pressing on the comments box shouldn’t full screen the video where I have to press the comments box again, and then swipe on a tiny little bar to minimise the now half screen video. So help you if you forget to mute the video before doing that too, as it’ll play on repeat while reading the comments. You care more about getting new accounts with a fresh, but not necessarily better, format. Well guess what happens when those teenyboppers grow up? Take a look at Facebook for an example. I would know, I was one of them. /rant Edit: and now they’ve replaced your subreddit list and added an ‘explore’ tab. If I wanted a tik tok clone I’d just download tik tok. You’re destroying the well-being of your user base. Update: threw years later, and yes the app is still terrible. They messed with algorithm or whatever so you only see like 10 subs in your list on your home page. What the hell man. It’s like cancer, it’s getting progressively worse as time goes by.

A place for the wise and their sheep. Absolutely love the unique dynamic of reddit, The first person to write the best comment gets praised and then more join the band wagon to farm a somewhat imaginary form of social (cyber) status. Get a unique customisable mini you, and everyone is most often genuine and interesting. You feel somewhat achieved on here when you create a post, and actually receive praise or criticisms. On other social media or reality often someone will criticises you for a negative reason, within reddit it is often genuine insight insight, and if you disagree with their point you can usually have a decent debate without issues of creating a toxic environment. There is just a dynamic freedom within reddit that no other interactive media site have been able to replicate. Incognito from reality whilst staying plugged in.

Love everything but one thing. I’m a massive fan of Reddit and spend nearly every day logged on and browsing content. The layout is great and it’s easy to navigate. My only issue is that videos don’t have sound unless the link directs you away from Reddit. It’s incredibly annoying to have to copy the link and past it to a browser on my phone any time I want to watch a video with audio. If they can fix this issue soon I’d be happy.

Anti-developer is anti-consumer. The move to price an absurd amount to their API is no more than just a cash grab. With the direct consequence of phasing out third party apps, apps that brought the reddit name to where it is. Reddit Sileneces Women and Uplifts Abusive Males. A recent wave of subreddit bans has targeted women’s subreddits that sought to counter act damaging parts of the patriarchy such as pornography and calling out subreddits that are 100% based around hating females. Though many feminist subreddits have faced the chop, many pornography subreddits that have rape and violence against women remain. Reddit’s priorities are transparent and blatantly sexist.

Fire those people who work in the appeals department.. My account was permanently suspended without a given reason, and when I sent an appeal, all my alt accounts were permanently suspended as well. I made a new account only to find it banned as well and I didn’t even post yet. So I got banned without a given reason, ask politely for an appeal and receive an IP ban as a result. What is this logic? I use Reddit for homework and French help and I was actually doing better in French because of it. All I ask for is an account I can use for homework purposes and apparently that’s too much to ask for. And that person who decided to ban me is a sad, sad excuse for a human.

Significantly worse than any of the third-party options. They’re killing third-party apps because they want a better valuation for an IPO, but their official app has a horribly unintuitive UI and it’s riddled with useless ads, tracking, and “suggestions” that make actually reading or contributing a horrible experience.

Not great for how long it has been around. This app is 9 or 10 years old and is still missing some basic features. - personal home page with the subs (communities) the user has in their list. - proper text edit when commenting - access to the community sidebar and rules Just to name a few.

The Worst Way to Browse Reddit. Overflowing with ads and other promoted content, lacking basic customization, inferior to all the main third party apps by a wide margin.

If this is the only option I’m not using Reddit anymore. Apollo was the best of the best Reddit clients out there, and Reddit has out of nowhere started to charge an obscene amount of money (around $20 million per year!) for developers to create third party applications. Obviously, this is unaffordable, and is a thinly veiled way to kill off 3rd party apps entirely. Out of all the social media apps I’ve used, this is by far the worst one. It’s terribly buggy, spams notifications about posts that aren’t even relevant to any subreddits I’ve joined, and is just generally a chore to use. It feels like an app designed by people who don’t really use Reddit. In addition, the moderation tools are abysmal, and they have put basically zero effort into accessibility for people who are visually impaired (which Apollo was amazing for). I sincerely hope Reddit reverses their decision to essentially ban 3rd party apps. If this is the only option, I’ll just leave Reddit entirely.

Terrible app without a focus on users. I’ve had to delete my Reddit app today, it is garbage. It’s readability and functionality is poor. It drives ads and reddits own function like surveys like no tomorrow. 3rd party apps were the only way to read reddit in a protected and functional manner. When 3rd party apps are taken offline, is when I quit Reddit forever.

Worst Reddit App. Much better off with a well made Reddit client. There are many good options.

Garbage App. Maybe if you’ve never used an app before you would think it is acceptable. The user interface is trash. Cluttered screens and unintuitive navigation. Be ready to see just 2 posts relevant to the subject you are there to see between all of the ads and suggested links. I hope I never come across whatever site/app they took inspiration from.

This app is why I wouldn’t invest in Reddit’s IPO. They’ve actively been making it worse. They removed sorting options, they keep breaking the video player, it doesn’t have necessary functionality for moderators and on and on. I get it, they need to sell ads and drive engagement in order to make money. I don’t think any of the changes actually help with that, though. Ads and recommendations are poorly targeted at best, and users have little control over what they see. I mean, I keep getting crypto ads because I’m on a sub that makes fun of it. Recommended posts are even worse. Now there’s some nagware telling you to share a post instead of taking a screenshot. Which you can’t turn off. Just let us take the damn screenshot, okay? All this is a symptom of bad management. Development of this app is a dumpster fire. Reddit doesn’t understand its own platform or user base, as you can see when they mismanage nearly every crisis. Currently they’re mishandling a revolt among power users and moderators over the decision to kill off third party apps which frankly work better than this app. Tl;dr: the app sucks and Reddit management is terrible.

Unfriendly to Developers. Reddit has a clear effort to remove third party integration by directly hiking the API costs to an unrealistic and misguided levels. Do not support this company- there are other ways to pass free time then to support a company which destroys livelihoods.

Reddit No More. I am a long time Reddit user. It used to be great. But soon I will leave Reddit because of recent change in Reddit policy. I cannot support the “If you can’t win, just kill your competition.” approach.

Subreddit searching seems to be broken. If you're searching for a subreddit that you know exists, for whatever reason the search function won't find it but will show other results which have similar names.

Bloatware on iOS. Beware.. Tons of unnecessary ads, storage space and network usage behind the scenes. Although it’s an official app, I do not suggest using this app to access Reddit.

Absolutely hate the new feed experiment. They are supposedly running an experiment on your home feed. Some users are effected by this, some aren’t. They are no longer display posts from all the subs i follow in chronological order. They are running an algorithm that is picking what it wants to show you—and there’s no way to change it to Top, New, Hot, etc etc. I’m missing a lot of content now. Before in chronological order i felt like i saw *everything* now with this new algorithm i feel like i see 60% of the content. I see repeating posts nearly all day. I thought it was spam posters at first but then i realized it was just Reddits algorithm really wanting me to interact with that post for some reason. I hate it lol. Please go back to chronological order and give us the option to organize by hot, new, etc pleaaassseeeeee. Besides that, i really love the app. It works great, and does what i need it to.

New UI is terrible - playback has audio issues. Hate the new UI that uses the Instagram reels / tik tok style for viewing media. It makes it so hard for reading comments; it constantly plays the videos while reading comments, pausing it while staying in the comments is this huge process. I liked the sound button better on the left hand side but I like that it has black behind because before the white sound button would disappear in videos with white background. Adding to my previous review and lowering my rating. The above has not been fixed, and lately if you open a video but don’t finish watching it, the audio will continue to play. Even if you are watching a new video, the audio from the previous post will continue to play. Even if you go into the post to pause it, it will then continue to play two instances of the same audio. You either have to wait for the video to finish or you have to restart the app. FIX THE PLAYBACK WITH THIS APP. There are so many third party apps I’m about to switch to a different one. This app used to be great and now it’s just getting so unusable

I would rate 0 stars but then it wouldnt show up, this app is terrible, i cant even view a discussion thread without being forced to download this app and i dont want it, the administrators are all politically biased power trippers who force you to dance to their tune, or you get banned, its like an echo chamber. If you arent an extreme leftist and you try to have a serious discussion on a political subreddit, you will be banned, if you try to dispute the ban they will ignore you, if you tell them to perm ban you from the garbage subreddit they will ban you from the whole app for harassment, the moderators have too much power and no repercussions for misusing it, you can be banned for literally anything if they deem it so, the only thing this community is good for is video game discussions or help, everything else is biased and subjective, people call ifunny the forbidden app, but atleast you have more rights there than here

Great mobile experience that needs to be tuned for iPad. I’ve been using Reddit on iPhone for the better part of six years, and just recently got an iPad, so I’ve started using the app on here as well. I hope a developer actually sees this review because I think this small adjustment can really do wonders for the iPad experience as more and more people are using the iPad as their proper daily computer, either for work or leisure. I think the portrait orientation of the app is fine, but landscape just has so much wasted screen space. I think that extra space can be used to be more like the desktop version of Reddit to give the iPad a more unique experience rather than just feeling like an upscaled iOS version for iPadOS. There’s plenty of space in the left (or right) margin to utilize the profile menu that is normally hidden, as well as using the other margin for in-subreddit sidebars. I know concerns about a congested screen can make that seem like a bad idea, but I believe it’s something to at least try to really round out an otherwise great mobile app.

Updated Video UI Is the Last Straw. The app functions relatively well, but Reddit developers have - over time - regressed the UI of their mobile app. It started with the increasing frequency of ads and subreddits oh don’t follow thrown into your feed.. then the Reddit Public Access Livestream starts showing up every five posts. For multiple versions now, the interplay between clicking a Reddit link in your mobile browser and it asking if you want to open it in the app has been broken. Instead of opening the Reddit app, it simply takes you to the Reddit App page on your phone’s App Store, not actually opening the app. Eventually the comment threading gets worse, and now they made the video playback and interaction UI so painfully incompetent I now must find a different app to browse Reddit. If I click on the “comments” below the video, I should be taken to the comments, not this frustratingly clunky video playback interface that takes multiple taps to get what you need. This is what happens when you insist your developers keep changing things instead of keeping a solid design and bug fixing/maintaining.

Reddit is great, app is a bit buggy. I switched over to this app once third party apps were shut down. Overall the app is fine, but there are some frustrating bugs that make me switch to a different social media site more frequently than I did before: - The app is very inconsistent when it comes to marking posts as read. If I read it from one feed it’s marked read in that feed but then if I navigate to the subreddit it’s not marked read there. - The back button frequently gets stuck on a post and freezes the app to one post. The only way to get out is to force quit. This wouldn’t be that annoying, but I prefer to navigate Reddit by looking at one subreddit at a time for the most part. So, to get back to a different subreddit on the app, you have to double tap back past the home feed and to the side nav every time. And since it doesn’t keep track of your state and frequently freezes during that flow, it makes browsing for me overall pretty clunky. I wouldn’t mind the double tap back if it actually worked consistently. I landed on 3 stars because I do frequently give up on the app and do something else for a while, and certainly spend less time browsing than I did before. I’m still a fan of Reddit though and would love to see the app improve! UI/UX is mostly fine, just fix more of these bugs instead of adding new features and you all will be golden. Thanks!

They need a new moderator system.. I’m tired of my account being temporarily banned for 7 days on certain subreddits when I don’t do anything wrong. If a mod doesn’t like something you say that’s all it takes even if it’s civil. If you try to appeal it, most of the time the message won’t even send. The mod and appeal system is a joke, because the mod that made the ban refuses to change their mind. The app is broken half the time and doesn’t work. Either server error or try again later. I never bully or harass anyone. My latest ban was because I gave my opinion on a post that someone asked for opinions. Yes that’s it. The mods reasoning was “don’t yuck someone else’s yum”. The OP was literally asking for fashion advice. I was civil and simply stated I didn’t like ONE out of the 7 outfits in question. That resulted in my account being temporary banned for 7 days. They allow anyone to be moderators and if they don’t agree with you, they can do whatever they want. I see many bullying comments that get ignored. I guess on Reddit you’re allowed to be a bully as long as the mod agrees with you. Freedom of speech is only allowed on Reddit if the mod agrees with you. Broken app and broken mod system.

Update seriously broke accessibility for voiceover users. Multiple reply buttons all over the screen used to show up when replying to a message and it was hard to guess which reply button would reply to your message. Now when replying to a message all that’s on the screen is multiple instances of the same advertisement and reply button is nowhere to be found. Nobody is going to develop for reddit and pay those api prices outside of reddit itself unless Microsoft or some other deep pockets corp does reddit development in the future. I’m going to delete this app and if I have reason to think of reddit in a year’s time I’ll try the app again then and see if it’s anymore useable than now. I’m leaving for hive and I’m not happy doing this since there were communities on reddit I found interesting. Appollo was taken down and for voiceover users appollo was the best accessibility app available for reddit on the iphone. As was said at the end of Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy “thanks for all the fishes”.

Bad moderator and banning policy. Arbitrary and capricious moderators will be the downfall of Reddit. Reddit policy is, anyone can be a Mod, and Mods can ban sub users for anything. It’s all good and roses until you get slapped with the arbitrary perma sub bans because a mod doesn’t agree with the way you think and didn’t like even your mild comment. Trust me - if you post, and esp if you talk about controversial topics, it’s coming and it will be irritating. You might not even notice if you didn’t say anything terrible and don’t post much on that account. Again, sub mods can and do perma ban for the most polite and well reasoned comments. And if you start using Reddit enough, soon you might make a mistake and accidentally comment somewhere you were banned from, like my comment recently, “100%,” I said to someone, on a sub I didn’t know I was banned from. I researched it and I had posted a single polite comment disagreeing with someone about a controversial topic more than 4 months ago. Then, according to Reddit I was trying to circumvent a ban. 7 day suspension. I am a veteran Reddit user and commenter and this took me one step closer to never using Reddit again.

They ban for responding to hate speech. I’m trans and autistic. Regularly I’d come across transphobia, homophobia, ableism, etc. and id respond to some of them and several of them reported me for maybe swearing at them- no hate speech or threats or wishes of violence. I got banned from the site. For swearing at transphobic people for being transphobic. It’s about who reposts who first. Their “crackdown” or something on hate speech was to just “permanently suspend” (ban) any reports. So essentially, they ban anyone who’s seemingly reported on and even reporting hate speech I even got “reporting abuse” as a threat. So then I couldn’t report hate speech and got banned for responding to hate speech. They don’t actually respond to appeals- boilerplate responses that don’t make any sense. They often “link” to supposedly offending comment that literally says “erased by Reddit”, well how am I supposed to respond and appeal if you don’t tell me what’s actually wrong with the comment. It’s about who reports who first and even then they’ll ban you for reporting. I had a ten year account never ran into these problems until 2023. I think it’s cause they want to go public and can claim they ban for “hate speech” and “harassment” but actually just ban the marginalized groups they’re claiming to protect.

The most unique and customized social media platform out there. Many people look at me like I’m a nerd or dweeb when I say something about Reddit, but that’s just because they’ve never used it. Reddit possesses its own culture, comment memes, and sense of humor and it is just delightful. It’s where you can have a simple epiphany that gains you underserved adoration from thousands of random Redditors, and where you might just have the cofounder ask you if you’re his brother (both of which have happened to me, thank you Mr. O’Hanion). Reddit creates a feed based on your interests. There are thousands of subs dedicated to very specific things, many of which you didn’t even realize you were interested in. It’s not like FB or IG where you scroll and hope to find something interesting or relevant to you. On Reddit, the feed is made up of things you subbed to, and after you create a feed, you get to get your hands dirty in the comments... just do it, you won’t regret it.

Just Gets Worse and Worse. Seriously, how do they do it? How do they continue to make this app worse and worse with every update? Is it a competition they’ve all got going on in the office? Let’s see who can implement a feature that’ll upset the users the most? Because that’s what it seems like they’re doing. Let’s start with how the decision to essentially kill third party apps was implemented, even with much protest across the community, are they tone deaf? Then, after that, it seems like the ads have really been ramped up and you can’t even get rid of the same stupid one that’s been appearing for a solid month now, unless you pay for it, much less comment on it to express annoyance. Talk about a scummy practice, one that’s been implemented by cowards, at that. Third, and I might be in the minority on this one, they completely botched the news section this past Winter, it used to be easy to see the type of news that you actually care about, but now it’s all jumbled together for some reason, what’s up with that? Finally, and this is the most harmless offense, why on earth do they insist on making Reddit’s app icon uglier and harder to look at with each new redesign?

They keep on permabanning my accounts. I made an account. My parents followed it closely and when I admitted truths, they punished me badly. So I made an alternate account they didn’t know about as to not cause drama. And they deleted both my accounts for “circumventing a ban” in another subreddit that I’d never been in before, they got my accounts confused with another persons. So I made another account. Same thing happened, they thought that was connected to an account of a person I didn’t even know. They banned me for lying about being banned from r/AmITheAssHole, which I have never been banned from. They cited a comment that was the apparent “lie”. The comment was, and I’m not kidding, asking for plant advice. So that account got banned. Since then, any account I’ve made has been permanently banned within HOURS. Their frickin’ site is ran on a potato. I can’t even just browse Reddit in peace or have fun because they made a mistake a long time ago and refuse to admit it, thus every account I’ve had, despite never even doing anything wrong, has been deleted for “circumventing a subreddit ban”. Screw this app, wouldn’t recommend it, 1 star

Avoid at all costs. Apple didn’t post my original review and this needs to be read. I’ve used Reddit for quite some time, usually just browsing through topics. The ONE time I shared my own personal experience with wanting advice about cutting off a sibling, Reddit refused to post it. Not only that, but I got an incredibly nasty message from a modifier saying I didn’t use a “trigger warning” and that I’m not allowed to talk about what someone else does. So essentially, I was not allowed to discuss reasons I felt my sibling was not a good person? I got a permanent ban. Meanwhile, there are posts on there about illegal substance usage, people cheating on spouses, and worse..I can’t share a story about growing up with a sibling I don’t get along with??? I’ve since deleted Reddit. There is NO free speech on that platform and the cowardly modifiers have absolutely no lives with far too much “power” behind their computer screens. I will never use their website and deleted my account after giving a piece of my mind to the modifier. If you’re considering this app, don’t. Run the other way, find another community. You will be censored if you try to contribute to a conversation.

1 Star is still too generous. I was a day one Apollo user who immensely enjoyed the beautifully customized and tailored experience, who is now forced into using this abomination after they purposely destroyed all third party applications that helped them make it the popular website it is today. Reddit has abandoned all pretense of caring about their users experiences, they only care about money, and this was the latest of many garbage decisions company wide, all to try and benefit their upcoming IPO. This app is the dollar tree version of a competent product (like Apollo), it’s bloated, frequently experiences issues loading, it’s interface looks to have been designed randomly by covering a wall with bad ideas and playing pin the tail on the donkey to choose which features to roll forward with, and so many more poor decisions and “optimizations”. I’d say they should be ashamed, but you have to have a moral compass for that to mean anything, and they sold theirs to the highest bidder years ago. I wish them nothing but the worst on their IPO, and in the words of the Principal from Billy Madison “I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.”

I’m the one that has been trying to find you and I am on Facebook and FaceTime and I did find “it” and was really confused but I know about the button and when I get home I’ll have to charge it and it will still work and then I have a phone number and the iPhone is the same number and everything else is the same and yes I do have that account access number to optimum and the best one that is on that account with Arthur hinman sr has a good account and she has the right and that’s what she has been saying about the altice and she is a very smart woman and that’s why JoAnne is the one who has been paying and she’s a really smart woman and that’s what she calls her headphones and I told you she is a real woman that is 63 years old and has a iPhone 8 apple and she’s has told the company that it was her boyfriend for 16 years before he died of Covid and she’s the only person that knew excellent and told the doctors everything she had been with her father now she’s just a woman

I apologize about my outburst the other day, I thought I was talking to a robot. Please can you guys restore my account. I’m not doing anything wrong. This is really affecting my mental health. My dog just died last week and my grandpa is in the hospital with COVID. I need Reddit as an outlet. Please I am begging you. I get the community engaged with my posts. Please, please, please as one human speaking to another human during a pandemic with the world in chaos mode can you please have some sympathy/empathy. I sincerely apologize to the MOD(s) I may have exchanged words with. I honestly just thought it was a robot. Please I ask you to restore my account. I have learned my lesson. I have just been getting frustrated that my posts keep getting removed with no explanation. I apologize for my actions. Can you guys please forgive me? Can we end this on good terms? I am a beginner streamer, I lost my Job during the pandemic a few months ago. This is all I want to do is contribute to this Reddit and continue to help it grow.

Ruined by June 11 Update. So this app has been said to be inferior to other reddit applications, but I always found it to be perfectly suitable to my needs. Now all of a sudden I open up reddit for a little late night browsing before I go to bed and there has suddenly been some sort of update that I never downloaded and had no way to opt out of. This update butchered the video player that I was very content with, which is my main point of contention. It is clearly trying to mimic the “scrolling feed” that has become standard for most social media apps, but the reality is that most people come to reddit because they don’t want that crap. I have no desire to tap on a video and get brought to a blatant tiktok ripoff video player, in which I can swipe up and see content completely unrelated to the subs I am subscribed to. What makes it worse is the way the comments look when I open them up. I just liked it the way it was, and it seems that all of these updates were not intended to provide a better user experience. I hope they update the app with the option to go back to the way things were. Until then I honestly just don’t see myself enjoying this app.

Misinformation Station. While the majority of the communities on Reddit (known colloquially as ‘subreddits’) aren’t political in nature, the top most subs like r/news and r/politics are riddled with left-wing enthusiasts, posting articles that are either outright false or demonise their supposed enemies, to the point where violent threats are celebrated towards those who are being targeted by said articles and hit-pieces; many of those cheering on these violent threats are the same moderators that moderate around 90% of the subreddits on the site. There’s also a heavy contingent of subreddits that engage in racism towards those they believe are stereotypes of a person’s colour, such as r/WhitePeopleTwitter, which mocks those of Caucasian skin tone based on mostly rehashed posts of those aforementioned ‘people to hate’. Last of all, the app is soon to implement a change in their site that would disallow third-party apps (such as Apollo, which is used by moderators (Reddit-appointed or not) for its moderation tools) from accessing the site entirely, making it an echo chamber for those who are paying for Reddit’s subscription service (Reddit Gold) and the hateful users who will be able to threaten violence against anyone right-of-center.

Put 5 star so you have chance of seeing. Where do I start. I been using Reddit awhile. Don’t use Reddit if you have any questions. They will most likely have a bot that doesn’t understand English and blocks your comment even though you haven’t broken any rules. This is okay but then it will stop you from trying to post your question again. It will say “wait 20 mins your posting to fast” I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO POST! What are you talking about ? This is a very small problem which made millions of people decide Reddit isn’t worth it. If you need news I would recommend somewhere anywhere else but Reddit If you have a question your not gonna get an answer let alone be able to post your question. If you wanna just have discussions Reddit isn’t the best place. The discussion would take over 8 hours and 1 person might be able to say 2 maybe 3 posts that can help/ answer someone’s question. (No matter what forum no matter place you are tying to post to. If you posted somewhere else on Reddit you still have to wait 20-30 mins. I don’t know about you but if I need help getting a answer then I’m not gonna have 2 hours to wait if I failed or forgot to mention something. This is literally one for he dumbest apps. I think it’s for people who are toxic who are trying to not by toxic I don’t know. Truth Reddit has become useless. Definitely for people who have things to do in there lives.

Reddits full of creeps. I was banned bc I commented on a Reddit discussion about how a certain porn star was not hot…thousands of “men” weighed in on the subject & I was just trying to warn them that porn addiction is real & ruined my marriage. I got banned from that sub Reddit almost immediately. Then I complained to the mods & they banned my entire account for “bullying” & “harressment” I’ve been bullied & harressed by NUMEROUS users on that account. A few I would block & bc on that app you can make multiple accounts, a few redditors would had more than 1 after I blocked them & kept messaging me! The app is FILLED with nudes & porn omg more than most porn sites I’d imagine! I don’t know how Apple keeps it in their App Store! I’ve messaged with at least 20 Redditors & they are all a lil or ALOT off & wanted to sext with me (the “men”) it’s a mental Verizon of Facebook. If you want to feel sane go on there for about 5 minutes. People down vote you for saying things like “I wish you’d love yourself” & people say how much they hate themselves or their lives & that’s fine but if you talk bad about porn….you’re banned. Utterly ridiculous. I’d LOVE to talk to the CEO of this company

Screw the Users. Over the last few years, Reddit has been destroying countless features and changing user interface making it more and more inaccessible and irritating to the users. Now they are destroying third party apps so that this app is used more and they have more power over the user base. This is still ignoring the fact that by banning third party apps, they are actively blocking people with disabilities and impairments from using Reddit. It has never been cleared that Reddit and u/spez (The Reddit CEO) don’t think of their users as people, but as assets. I used to love Reddit, but I have been watching it be destroyed for the last few years in disbelief, but I can’t do this anymore. If anyone reading this thinks Reddit won’t go further than it has, you are wrong. Now that people are forced to use their app, there is nothing stopping them from adjusting it to milk as much money out of its “assets” as possible. Goodbye Reddit, you apathetic void of disparity.

Spez is a greedy liar. As an 8-year Reddit user I have not been happy with the official Reddit site/app’s decisions to “modernize” the app and make the experience more social-media-esque. I am a long time Apollo user, and the reasons why the official Reddit app is an inferior product are as such: 1. Ads. Ads everywhere. You can’t avoid them. 2. Avatars and social media aspects. Reddit is straying too far from its roots as a pseudo-anonymous forum. 3. “Algorithm” and “tailored” feed. If I wanted that I would re-download Instagram. 4. Can’t sort by rising. 5. Spacing. Too much empty space, poor design, no compact option. 6. Slower load times and more server errors than 3rd party apps. Spez, the head of Reddit, blatantly lied about the creator of Apollo sending threatening/harassing/blackmailing messages. Christian (Apollo’s creator) debunked these claims with audio and visual proof. Spez is a slimy, greedy, narrow-minded, stubborn moron. Do not support him and his decisions. Reddit, I am extremely disappointed with your decisions to essentially blacklist all 3rd party apps. I have nearly 100k karma and have been a daily, active member for years. No more. I hope the website crashes and burns.

Falsely Accused, Permanently Suspended. My account has been permanently suspended for supposedly posting something sexually suggestive toward a minor. Browse the few comments I’ve made, admin, because I haven’t made any posts, only comments here and there. I’ve deactivated my account because I’ve gotten no acknowledgement from actual staff in regards to my appeal or any of the other times I tried contacting them regarding this false accusation. The Reddit app itself won’t even allow me to sign out. It keeps reading “error”. I’m also thoroughly disappointed that anyone can troll your account and make false reports without admin looking into it. I’ve had all my privileges taken away for no good reason, and I tried to work with them to restore my account to no avail. If I ever get back on Reddit, I’ll truly be afraid to post/comment/upvote on ANYTHING for fear that the trolls will win and destroy my new account. They win on Reddit, at least. This was my favorite app, now it makes me angry and disheartened.

Great app but sometimes buggy. I think the app is great when it works! API/service outages are quite frequent compared to other social media platforms and for me personally tapping on the home feed stops working every couple of days as long as I can remember. Restarting the app fixes it but frustratingly loses the stories I was navigating in my feed and I am usually unable to find the post I was attempting to tap into without significant effort. One feature that I would love to see that would extremely useful would be adding the feature to allow saving posts to specific categories/folders. This, however, is not specific to the app but the platform itself and is not used a factor in my review of the app. I will admit I came to leave a review out of frustration due to the removal of the option to download images in the previous update, however the feature looks to be restored in the current/most recent version.

Good content but bad U.I. The content on reddit can’t be criticized because it is all user material, but the way we interact with the content CAN. The user interface is trash and hard to use. Scrolling through a video on ios almost certainly results in failure as the bar to scroll through the video is far too close to the bar you swipe to change apps. Another thing, when googling a question and finding answer on the reddit site, opening to the app takes you to the app store and doesnt let you see the actual post preventing you from seeing the rest of original post, or comments which for some reason is not allowed on the website. The whole system of selecting posts to view is broken to me. swiping up or down like in tiktok does not show the previous or next video in the sub, it shows a random slightly connected video forcing you to swipe out of any post to view the next in the sub. Small changes to improve quality of life is all that is needed to make this app a 5/5 stars for me

Confusing premise. Reddit seems like it doesn’t know what it wants to be. Is it a social media site where you can share posts with friends? Apparently not. They take their internet “karma” points so seriously that if you interact with the same posts and comments as your friends and family, Reddit will flag all of your accounts as voter manipulation. This especially occurs if the people are using the same wifi. Reddit has serious issues with revenge P, bullying, and misinformation, yet it appears in their agenda to go after small families with warnings and suspensions for upvoting the same comments. A website/company that goes after their small users for sharing posts with their immediate family is not one that I want to recommend to others. And, a company that cannot separate true vote manipulation - ie bots and software - from a family socializing and bonding over Reddit posts, is a site that needs to reevaluate whether it is a social site at all. They apparently desire to control people’s lives outside of the app and expect all users to remain anonymous even to their own family member’s accounts. So what kind of social media platform/forum is Reddit?

Crashing and Performance issues. I am writing this after years of frustration with the is app. Want to scroll through a subreddit? Too bad, your device is going to run ridiculously slow after 25-30 posts. Want to close out of Reddit since it’s slow now? Well too bad, now all the other apps on your phone are slow until you close the app, if you even can with how unresponsive the phone becomes. And god forbid you actually want to see your feed and be able to swipe through. Say you select the 3rd post in your feed then start swiping, well first you’ll get post 3, then post 1 then post 2. If you click on say post 15 the same thing will happen, and you will need to swipe through all the previous 14 posts you had already seen to reach post 16. Like who designs an app that un user friendly. It seems kinda counter intuitive for them to make the app so bad it’s difficult to use, if forcing me to use my computer will just make me use an ad blocker. Do better Reddit, there are literally no other apps on my phone that function this poorly or drag the performance of my entire phone down so significantly

Terrible app, and it’s your only option starting July 1st. Do you love having ads for religious extremism shoved down your throat multiple times a day? Do you wish there was no way to get this content out of your feed, no matter how much you report it or attempt to block the advertiser? This is the app for you! “Why, simply use a third-party app that doesn’t have ads!” Well, starting July 1st, third-party apps are shutting down due to Reddit imposing a brand new API pricing strategy that could cost third-party apps millions to continue running. Not only do these third-party apps provide a better user-experience than the god awful official app, it provides better accessibility options for disabled folks, as well as better modding tools for the people who generously donate their time to keep Reddit’s communities thriving. It’s a selfish, greedy move no matter how you spin it. I never felt the need to use third-party apps, but I understand their importance. If I wasn’t getting Jesus ads shoved down my throat every two seconds, I may have stuck around despite this awful decision, but this is my final straw. Based on the number of subreddits protesting this decision, I doubt I’m the only one. Hope y’all enjoy watching your user base dwindle.

A huge thank you!. I have been a Redditor for a few years now and always look forward to updates on the app. I don’t usually use the computer so I appreciate any and all updates to mobile. My all-time FOREVER FAVORITE & also what coincidently brought me to Reddit in the first is No Sleep. For the longest time, I couldn’t subscribe to series with one click. I tried to read how to fix the problem and or do it manually but could not figure it out. I knew from web searches this wasn’t an isolated problem. It sucked that I had to save the story then login on the internet to subscribe. But just for old times sake I clicked “here” and it worked! I appreciate all the time and effort everyone puts in, even though most of Reddit only comments and complains about Reddit. I can’t afford to buy premium monthly but I do when I have extra spending money and love to give awards the few times I have. I wish it was a bit more cost-effective but other than that you have a fan/user for the life of this platform!

Latest updates are ruining this app. I am a long time user of the Reddit mobile app and haven’t had any problems up until the release of the latest updates. One major problem is the new video player. Any time you try to open a gif or video, you’re forced to view it in Tik Tok format. It is absolutely dreadful to try and read the comment section of posts with this sort of media. This new feature alone makes the app borderline unusable. Another issue with the latest updates is that the home feed is now filled with posts from communities that you are not subscribed to. If I wanted to see that content, I would be following those communities, so seeing those posts on my feed is annoying. It is very clear that they are trying to mimic the features of other social media, and in doing so, they are ruining the app. A lot of what made this app good in the first place was the fact that it wasn’t like every other social media. Tons of Reddit users have voiced their dislike for these new features and things need to be fixed.

cannot switch from safari to app. often , i will be googling questions or whatnot when a reddit thread shows up. when i click on the link to reddit, a pop-up opens and i cannot view the post in safari because it tells me to read it in the app. there is no X out button, so i usually click the “go to app” option. despite having downloaded the app, it brings me to the app store. instead of the downloaded app icon, it says “OPEN.” when i click the “OPEN” button it just brings me to the general feed of the app instead of the post i was trying to read. it is very irritating, as i cannot even read the thread on safari because of the pop-up. this does not happen with any other app i’ve used (twitter, instagram, tumblr, facebook, etc.) all other apps bring me straight to the page i was looking at. additionally, in terms of notifications, i find it annoying that if i look at one thread from a subreddit i did not join, i am given daily notifications for new posts. the notifications from subreddits do not happen with ones that i DID join, and i’d like to be notified about those more than the ones that i just glanced at.

Update: Bugs. New: I am really unhappy with the bugs in the updated version in the app. In certain subreddits that I am active in, I can no longer sort by “New”. The “New” sorting button is completely broken. My settings are set to sort by New, and my communities are set to automatically sort by new, but this feature no longer works. I can see the newest posts in the communities I am in on Safari, but I can no longer see them on the app. Once fixed, I’ll update my rating because I’ve been on Reddit for years and this is my favorite source of Social Media. Hopefully this will be fixed soon because this is a huge issue, and judging from other reviews, I am not the only one having this problem. Previous Review: I have been using the Reddit app for quite a while now, and I love it. There are so many great features, and the process is very smooth. The application is also very easy to use, and the admins are always very helpful if any issues arise. This is 100% the best app I have ever used. If I could request an addition to anything, I would say more customizable avatars for purchase and to bring back power ups, but this is definitely no downside to having the app. It’s my favorite!

If you care about your sanity, don’t use this platform. I've used Reddit for nine years, but I've noticed that the platform has become overrun with hate and negativity. It's become so extreme that I can no longer use it. They manipulate information, distort the truth, and employ bots to influence people's opinions. A small group of moderators have significant control over most popular subreddits, and they censor content to align with their own political biases and agendas. If you're looking for objective facts and information, you won't find it here. The platform's administrators sometimes issue permanent bans to those who express facts or opinions that don't match their own beliefs, be they religious or political. There's a strong focus on negativity, fear, and promoting conflict. It seems like Reddit supports racism, war, and discrimination. If you don't believe in the existence of evil, just take a look at Reddit's popular feed, and you will feel your hope leave your body and be replaced by resentment. This is what the platform intends to do. If I could rate Reddit with negative stars, I would, but since I can't, I'll just advise everyone I know to steer clear of this platform, which has been reduced to a breeding ground for hate.

For and not for softies. I was able to finally free myself from some sorts of social media here. I’m not commenting as me and I’m not comparing myself to someone that I would have seen on another platform. It’s anonymous which is great. Making sure you “stay in your lane” as in keeping within the type of subreddits that really intrigue you is what everyone should start with. Don’t explore random things.. find a community here that you are super into. ExampleX I just started my first outdoor garden and there’s r/gardening or r/homestead if I wanted to look for some others doing what I’m doing. It’s really cool once you do find a community that fits your hobby whatever it may be. However there are areas of this platform that spew endless negativity but goodluck finding a platform that doesn’t.. I mean last I heard neopets was done for. Luckily I’ve found some super cool tips from countless subs that have helped in my own real life. Stay away from hate and get into what you’ve always liked!

4.8 / 5 Stars? No way that’s true.. There is absolutely positively no way this app has 4.8 stars. It is the biggest piece of ad choked garbage out there. They traded user experience for as much $$$ as possible. Not to mention they constantly force you to use it. If you use a search engine and tap something that happens to be on Reddit, you are forced to open it in the app. Reddit was one of the things that made the internet great and they ran it completely into the ground. It’s like MTV all over again. Used to be cool now it’s just a corporate sponsored joke. Even the worst 3rd party Reddit app is better than their native app? No one wants to view Reddit through your dumb app so stop forcing people to do it. Update: I still hate it Update 2: now that they are forcing out 3rd party apps by charging insane pricing I will simply not go on Reddit. I feel like they think forcing us to use their garbage native app that we will all bite the bullet and use it. Not a chance. I’d rather stair at a wall than use their native app. If your app was decent people would use it but they don’t. Add Reddit to the pile of apps that were cool but they chased the $$$ too hard and crashed & burned.

Reddit Rulez. Love Reddit so much I just wish it wasn’t blocked by a lot of Wi-Fi networks like my at my work. It’s guest Wi-Fi blocks Reddit with a firewall saying it has adult content smh. My boost network cell data hasn’t been working right ever since I got this new iPhone 11. Safari won’t load most of the time and Reddit always gives me the lil Reddit face with x’s as it’s eyes. Used to be blazing fast even when my 5g would run out I would still get unlimited 4g data with my old iPhone s. Someone stole it and so I was due for an upgrade so I got the iPhone 11 for a very low price. Yes it was opened and the lady said it was used for like a day until the lady brought it back because they couldn’t pay there bill so the store ended up with it on there shelf so she was able to give me a good deal I think it was 160 out the door everything else works fine like phone calls and texts but no FaceTime unless I’m at home on my own wifi.

An interesting type of app. This app is a very unique app because of the countless communities this place has, you can just scroll scroll down once and you can find another great subreddit just waiting for you, not to mention most subreddits are incredibly funny, interesting, and some directed to your liking. Granted, the app has minor flaws, such as the people that overreact to the slightest things, the fact some videos can break your ears, and some can even show you something weird, or gross. But the fact that there’s so many good things, plus some bad things might not even exist for you, weigh down the negative things about the app for miles on end that they don’t bother you at all really, it’s a good app and it pretty much cures any boring time, (not at funerals, Not at funerals, not at funerals, not at funerals) and it allows people to express their creativity in many ways, this app is worth getting for the entertainment it will give you

Don’t give them your money or support them in any way. You might have heard of the whole Reddit API drama recently, but if you haven’t, just know it’s exactly as bad as everyone is making it out to be. The official Reddit app is, bar none, the worst social media or forum experience I have ever had. Constant ads, unwanted site promotions, incessant bugs, and poor quality control from a site as large and popular as Reddit is inexcusable. Here’s the kicker though, these issues were never the biggest deal since a plethora of free, well-coded third-party clients existed. Now Reddit themselves are deciding to drive their user base away in hopes of getting more suckers to spend money on awards and avatar customizations. I haven’t even mentioned the lack of accessibility the official client offers, it’s honestly so bad you just have to laugh. I can say with complete conviction that this app does not do a single thing right. If Reddit never bothered to improve their app when competition existed, just imagine how much worse it will become when they drive away everyone who put time in to this community they used to love. The people make Reddit what it is, not the other way around.

Nowhere near the best Reddit app, soon to be the only one.. While this manages to be an okay, if a bit mediocre app it is far, far outdone by better 3rd-party apps like Apollo. Reddit has decided to charge for API access, which is reasonable, but they’ve chosen absurd pricing. Apollo alone would be facing $20 million a year to continue using the APIs. Rather than choosing to build the best app that users want to use they’re effectively killing off better apps they can’t compete with. On top of that they’re attacking other developers and lying about their discussions purely because other developers have requested a reasonable rate that they could meet. The same developers that have helped them build Reddit into the popular and successful business it is today. Despite huge resources they can’t compete with small one or two person teams because users aren’t their priority. They could have handled API access at reasonable rates, they could make their app the best on the market, they could put users first, instead they’ve compromised their integrity. There will no longer be better apps to use Reddit, but there will be better networks.

New update makes the app unbearable with the new video player. I’ve used the Reddit app for about 2 years, despite all its bugs and flaws because I understand that my traffic contributes to the income the devs get. I am now deleting this app to move to Apollo 3rd party, as it seems there’s absolutely zero consideration to the user base when this new video player was designed. It’s the most unintuitive design imaginable, that irritates me every time i click on a gif or video post. Revert the unnecessary change and I’ll gladly revise this review, until then i don’t see myself coming back to this app. I don’t dislike it because it mirrors that of Tik-Tok, i hate it because of the new viewing window when looking at comments, the inability to enjoy cross-posted video threads, the pointless feature of being able to view other videos beneath it, as well as the irrational swipe feature to view comments. Blows my mind his a company decided to take a perfectly good feature about their app and then just completely obliterate it for something no one likes, and then ignore the feedback, find access to Reddit somewhere else.

reddit still requires work in a lot of areas. I downloaded reddit for the pure enjoyment of having some place to post and interact with different communities. However, I noticed when receiving a follower you don’t have the option of “knowing” who follows you but you get a notification saying that person followed you. It’s annoying not being able to see who interacts with your posts from time to time or who follows you. Another thing is inbox messages you can’t delete them from your reddit inbox meaning they’ll stay there until you delete your account completely. Wish that wasn’t the case but sadly that’s how reddit is, the app isn’t really successful in managing followers like you can easily remove them on instagram or check who’s following you. Spam bots follow but you can’t get them to unfollow you which is ridiculous. Although I love reddit and the platform because you can post anonymously on reddit posts. I wish they’d focus on the important things of the app, like managing inbox messages and managing your followers or remove followers from your profile without deleting your account.

I love Reddit but there is a HUGE bug that has to be fixed. Reddit is cool for when you just want to chill and go to your favorite communities and meet people who have your same interests, but there is a problem. In some if not all of the communities it says I can’t post images. Now before you say, “some communities don’t allow images” in the subreddit I was in it LITERALLY had a flair titled “IMAGES” I even scrolled through and saw people posting images left and right but on mine it says it’s not allowed. I closed out the app, logged out, reseted my entire fricking iPad, and it still wouldn’t let me. I found out by doing some digging that it isn’t just me who is having this problem. This has to be fixed because I can’t even enjoy the app anymore. I always love posted OC art on subreddits but now I can’t. I spent 5 days making art for r/Pokémon for nothing due to this bug. Please fix it.

“View site in app” doesn’t work. Reddit is by far one of the best and most useful sites in the web. Whenever I’m searching for an answer to a hard-to-word question, including “reddit” in the search terms always reveals a ton of better answers than the ads & lists which make up most google results. The Reddit app is a different case altogether. Whenever I try the above approach on my phone, the site promises “this page looks better in the app.” Even with it already installed, these links just go to the App Store, rather than opening that page in the Reddit app. This just makes the whole thing feel useless - searching Reddit directly isn’t particularly accurate, so I end up just trying to ignore the button and view the results in the browser. The issue isn’t so much with the app as with those links. They’re essentially just one big redirect to the App Store, rather than something useful which automatically opens that page in the Reddit app (and only goes to the store if the app is not installed). This may seem like a little thing, but it also seems like an easy fix, and the fact that I run into this almost every day makes all of those little irritations really add up.

Ruined by abusive mods and lack of customer service. Reddit used to be fun. Unfortunately, they ignore suspension appeals and attempts to receive customer service, while letting random basement dwellers to act as kings of the app, not only banning people unfairly from subs, but abusing the report function to get people suspended out of spite. Don’t spend money here. Don’t expect someone to help when you have an issue. You’d think when they allow coin purchases, they’d at least have a handful of people responding to help requests. Nope! Toss your money into the oblivion and prepare to be totally ignored by Reddit’s staff. Update for 2023: I got permanently suspended for “abuse of the report function” which I don’t even know how is possible. I’ve only ever reported heinous bullying and hatred. I tried to appeal and their response was emailing me to tell me that subreddits are run by mods who can do what they want (I wasn’t banned from a subreddit, but Reddit as a whole, which was clear from my appeal) and then banning all of my other accounts permanently as well. Legitimately didn’t think any social media could be worse than FB, IG, Twitter, TikTok or Nextdoor…but Reddit is. Their treatment of customers (I’ve actually spent money to support them) is absolutely disgusting.

Honestly a hard review.. The app is overall a good platform but it rewards mob mentality promoting echo chambers and confirmation bias. Which isn’t all bad. The flaw is people avoid being ostracized leading to more censored takes killing any actual constructive engagement. Example you ask questions about help with a car person A: this is the issue I ran into and how I resolved it. Person B: I’m a mechanic and wouldn’t recommend it because x,y,z. The community may mob either a or b because A, “you shouldn’t give advice you’re lucky that worked”. Or B: “your wrong because my uncles third cousin yada yada” The good thing about the app is it’s very easy to farm karma by either agreeing with the echo chamber, dog piling, or having general states to play on emotions. Recommendation, if you plan to use the app have two accounts. One for actually engaging and getting down voted into oblivion and a second one to have reserved, general takes, well farming karma if you want. It’s not a serious app because anything nuance is a bomb. For gaming, hobbies, and so on it will work well as there isn’t as much of a mob mentality. Overall I wouldn’t recommend actually fully engaging with the app.

Needs block filter URGENTLY. Dear Reddit creators, I have used Reddit for many years as a means to connect with other people of similar communities but the lack of a block filter has become increasingly annoying. To my knowledge there is no way to block a subreddits content from MY feed without upgrading to premium. There are many things I’d rather not see on Reddit when I’m simply scrolling through my gaming communities looking for updates and such. I have seen something so disgusting today I’ve had to delete Reddit all together due to the mental health crisis it spiraled me into. As someone who has dealt with crippling mental illness for years and spent countless days in therapy working through problems, having one single post set me back months on my progress is unacceptable. I know I’m not the only person who is suffering from this. All I want is to be able to see feeds from the subs I have joined so I don’t risk my mental health while looking at a thread of Pokémon related content. Do better! And just an added touch, NSFW content does not cover many of the things that I have been personally triggered by in subs I am not a part of nor have I ever shown interest in.

I’m new to Reddit. I joined Reddit because I have acquired an interest in the JonBenet Ramsey’s case. It’s an old case, but all the information is new to me. Reddit seems to have the best leads of interest. I’m learning a lot of. However, there are a few things that irk me. I would like to be able to “like” certain posts, but because they are over one year old, I can’t. Nor can I even comment non older posts. I would like to be able to rekindle some posts. It’s a bit frustrating. Additionally. I can’t seem to post on certain subreddits. Equally aggravating. I personally want to learn more about the less read takes on subjects. And apparently Reddit has an aversion to conspiracy theories (as some see them). Too bad. It took hours of reading to find the authors who are talking about things I suspect to be true about this case. Overall, I’m enjoying Reddit as A source. It’s nice to find people who have already done research on things that seem to be new to me

My fifth year on Reddit. Today was my 5th Reddit cake day. I thought I’d leave a review for the app since it has been almost 100% of my interaction with the site since singing up 5 years ago. I have tried other 3rd party Reddit apps and find that this one is the best for me. It’s easy to navigate and play with and does have some nice features for finding new subs and whatever. Does the basic functions of Reddit pretty well, as it should. HOWEVER The app is constantly being “improved” with god awful UI quirks to make it some form of “better.” The app is constantly fixing what isn’t broken. Just getting used to a certain feature of the app? Yeah, they’ll change it to something even more awkward and unusable in a few months. The most recent video player change makes NO sense and I don’t know of a single user I’ve interacted with that actually thinks it’s a good idea. As I mentioned before the site is really good at the basics of Reddit. And it should focus on being the best app for those basic features of the site! Stop messing with all the controls every few months and releasing updates that are just out of wack, for no good reason! Refine what works well and keep being the best at the fundamentals for the website YOU created in the first place! I love Reddit but these changes are frequent and annoying enough to make me just close the app after a minute or two because interacting with the content is such a chore. Really frustrating!

Don’t Use This App. I’ve been using Apollo for years now and it was genuinely one of the best apps I’ve ever used on iOS. I loved the simple, responsive and intuitive UI, as well as all of its features. Recently, the Reddit corporate team has decided to kill all 3rd party apps with their ridiculous API pricing. These 3rd party apps include Apollo, RIF, Narwhal and others. All of these apps had many dedicated users who loved using them to post, moderate and comment on Reddit. Despite this, Reddit got greedy and decided to kill them. In addition to this, the official Reddit app is actual garbage compared to 3rd party apps. It is full of ads, less intuitive and much slower. Instead of working with 3rd party app developers to either negotiate a reasonable price or improve their app, they choose to be selfish and spit in the face of their most dedicated users. To add further insult to injury, Reddit’s CEO decided to falsely accuse Apollo’s developer of blackmail in an attempt to make themselves look better. Fortunately, Apollo’s developer recorded their calls and posted the evidence to refute Reddit’s claims. If you’ve read to this point, I hope you understand that Reddit is purely profit-driven, anti-user garbage now. Do not support them by using their garbage app.
