Frustrating. I Would dearly love it if this app worked consistently, but it doesn’t. The “vegan“ option in the user profile does nothing. The providers evidently never see it and are not bound in anyway to accommodate it. I’ve found that I have to be careful to look over any store’s entire menu because if there’s anything on it that I wouldn’t eat it doesn’t make any sense to pay for something that I’m going to throw away anyway. “Saving a meal” should mean an actual meal. I get that lots of donut places have leftovers and I wouldn’t expect to pick up a meal there. But if I go into a vegan establishment expecting to pick up a “meal“ and being told by the app that I’ve just saved “a meal“but I get eight chocolate bars, that doesn’t work at all. One way to look at the upshot of all of this is that the app is for people who want to save a meal but who have the money to gamble on whether or not they will actually get some thing that will sustain them. I hate to think of someone who’s using the app because they actually need to save some money on food and they end up with chocolate bars. And another layer of aggravation is there’s one restaurant who I believe actually tries to put together amigo and does their best to avoid ingredients that might elicit an allergic response. So sometimes it does work, but it’s just once out of the half dozen experiences.

Fantastic initiative, should be the norm. Usability could improve.. The concept of this app is great. Food waste is a massive problem and bringing awareness/sustainably reducing it is great! T he one star docked is only because (as other reviewers mentioned) the filters and map variables could be greatly expanded. Things like keywords, food sensitivities, and better options to section/parse the map would make the user experience much better. Encouraging vendors to list/update their offerings would make customers easier to find (and vice-versa), and it’d be less overwhelming than browsing the many dots on the map. Basically: You find restaurants with extra food, and pay for it at an extremely reasonable price. Every place I’ve gone to gives a really generous amount of food for the cost, and can last a couple days especially if it’s a bakery or grocery store (disclaimer: I’ve been at 90%+ rated places so far, so it could be hit or miss). Needless to say it’s amazing for those on a budget, and it’s benefiting small shops as well. I really hope this concept becomes widespread because we waste so much while many have very little.

Great concept but execution could be much better. I have only used this service once as a result of it being poorly executed. I arrived at the restaurant at the start of the pick up time. They didn’t have my order. They had no food remaining and were dismissive. I biked 2 miles to get it so it was a huge waste of time and effort. Not only did Too good To Go customer service not provide me with compensation / discount for a future order but I had to wait more than a week for the refund. The app is also not that great. I don’t have an issue with the distance shown being a straight line like others have noted - that’s what Google maps is for! My problem is lack of selection - only the same 3-5 places show up within 2 mile radius and I’m in a dense area just a few blocks away from a very big and famous university with tons of restaurants in the area. The description of what might be offered is often very vague and we have no idea why places get the score they do. I understand we shouldn’t rate places like Google or Yelp as these establishments are doing us a favor but it helps to know if my bag is going to have boba tea or a sandwich? Is it going to be a meal or dessert / pastries? Will it have meat? I just called up a pasta joint that always shows up in the app. I thought I’d be getting cooked ravioli but was told it’s uncooked bits of fresh pasta. That type of info would be useful to have in the app.

Please let us see reviews. I think this would be so much better if I could read customer reviews. This way I can make a better decision about whether or not it’s worth my time and if I have a better chance of getting something I’ll like. I also wish there was more consistency with the bags. One pizza restaurant I went to gave me a giant bag stuffed with slices of pizza like maybe 15-20 slices of pizza. The next time I went I received 4 slices. It’s still a deal, but it was definitely disappointing and it made me wonder if maybe I wasn’t the first person to show up so they ended up loading the bags of the first few too good to go orders and then I was left with the scraps. It could be that the first visit I got super lucky but there’s no way to know. Reviews would definitely help with this.

Great App, Cool Concept, Great Customer Service. Really cool concept, amazing when the restaurants do it right. There are a fair number of restaurants that don't really understand the point, but the app has a rating system to sus out bad restaurants. And the customer service from TooGoodToGo is phenomenal. Any problem you have with your order and they'll give you a refund within a day. The app works great too, although it would be nice to see what other people have gotten in their bags. This app should be used everywhere. There's no reason extra pizza slices or pastries should be thrown away at the end of the day, and no reason restarting shouldn't still get a little money from it. They're rapidly adding more restaurants in my area. Very exciting.

Why is this even a thing?. I wanted to like this app but it’s just a waste of space on my phone at this point. I guess it’s just not a thing where I live? Maybe this is an east coast thing?? Idk. I live near a really big city on the west coast, so I was expecting to see at least a few options??but I was wrong. I gave it two weeks to check it out and see what’s goin on. I was pretty excited. But All it does is default to show you a bunch of random “sold out” restaurants in your area which is pointless. Why would I want to see a list of things I can’t have? Also I have never seen any of these places actually show up as an option for a pick up. I find it hard to believe that dinner restaurants are selling out by 3pm? It’s all just weird. When you narrow the results down to Include places that are not sold out, surprise! Nothing is in the list…. It will then say there is a list of restaurants available for tomorrow however! So you narrow the results down to show what may be available for pick up tomorrow, and low and behold… no results come up. It’s a lovely idea but it’s obvious no one gives a crap about this type of thing in my area or the app is just busted? I’m not sure what it’s actual purpose is because I haven’t been able to use it a single time to even arrange a pick up since nothing is in my area except for sold out places 24/7 apparently, Idk. Maybe it’s just a really elaborate way to data farm off peoples phones.

Such a great app. This is such a wonderful app. I have loved using it and gotten so much food through it. I love the map feature and searching based on your location. I love that when you click on a stop you can have the choice of google or Apple Maps to get directions. It makes it so easy. Purchasing and picking up seems to be so easy. There are a few things that I think would make it better. 1. The sorting options should show you things in order of the pick up time. I got out of a work training yesterday and wanted to see if I could grab dinner anywhere. There as an option but it took me a while to search through. I’d love to see an option to see the items listed by pick up time. I would spend more money on here if it was quicker access. 2. I feel as though I have to look through multiple locations to actually see all the different places that are offering food that isn’t sold out. I don’t even know if the Browse shows them all or not. I wish there was one spot to know I was visually seeing them all. 3. I wish there was a way to hide stores you don’t like. I will never order from this one donut shop in our town and they have 3 locations. I don’t like their donuts and yet every day I have to scroll through their listing for multiple of their locations. I wish there was a way to just hide the company as I will never purchase from there Again these are all things that would make me buy more and use this more. Great app and concept and I love it. Take my money!

What’s the point of vegetarian/vegan settings if restaurant isn’t notified?. I’ve heard of TooGoodToGo for awhile & was excited when it started to spread around Los Angeles. I have mine set to vegetarian/vegan which obviously limits the restaurants & coffee shops that come up which is good. HOWEVER, what’s the point of using these settings when I order bags (from mostly coffee shops) & am routinely given meat products I can’t eat? I then have to throw them out. Restaurants should be given notice that a vegetarian/vegan ordered, that way they can cancel the bag for someone else to order if it’s a meat product or just swap/substitute with someone who isn’t (ex: give one person two croissants & one two ham sandwiches instead of one of each to both). I’ve ordered about a dozen bags & thrown out items in half of them, a few the whole bag (got slices of pizza with meat on them). I understand you get what’s left at the end, but why list a place under vegetarian/vegan when there’s a very good chance you won’t be able to eat what they give you?

When will more options be added?. 3 month update- after 5 starting this app, I will update my review. Stop sending notifications that aren’t applicable to your users. Telling me there’s “new restaurants in my area!” then opening it to see the same 1 restaurant is annoying. I do love the idea of Too Good To Go, but I live in a fairly large city and there is only a single restaurant available to purchase from. Would love to see more options added in the future. The one restaurant that is available in my area has been really hit or miss. Sometimes everything is great, sometimes not. It honestly comes down to if employees are familiar with the app. A couple of times the workers didn’t know what the app/code meant and needed to call a manager before making the order (which I thought was really odd). They also didn’t know what to put in it, so it wasn’t very plentiful, even for the discounted price. Other times it is a great mix of food and it’s ready to go in their check out stand! Really bizarre. Those two gripes aside, it’s a wonderful concept and I’m excited to see more features/places get added in the future!

TLDR: They don’t care about customers. I spent time and effort, and even hyped this app to a friend I brought along, only to have the Peets coffee tell me they had no food going bad and I wouldn’t be getting anything, even as I saw they had plenty of fresh food available. It was a very disappointing, unhappy, maybe even humiliating experience of a concept I once thought was cool. Both store and CS said “don’t worry, you won’t be charged.” The issue isn’t a refund, it’s the broken agreement. As a customer, I accept the risk of receiving random food selections. But to also accept the burden of getting to the store in a small time window, only to get turned away because nothing is going bad, is asking for too much, and there seems to be an indication this will continue to happen in the future, since the store chose to blame the app for any fault in inventory. If there is a disconnect in communication between store and app, why is the customer to take all the loss? In addition, I was never notified in advance, but only once I showed up to the counter. I talked to both Peets and TGTG CS again, and the canned responses tell me they couldn’t care less.

Good, But App Could Be Improved. This is a great service that helps to fight food waste. It’s also a nice way to discover businesses in your area that you might not have known about and sample their offerings. However, the app itself could use some improvement. One issue is that there are some points in the day when the data in the app fail to load and you are stuck at looking at the animated Too Good To Go logo in a white box - sometimes this occurs in the middle of the night but I have also seen it take place during the middle of the day. I hope this never happens to me when I’m going to pick up an order and need to show it to someone in a store and swipe in the app to collect. Another issue is that the distances shown in the map are straight line (or “as the crow flies”) and don’t take into account the street grid or bodies of water such as rivers. While this approach might work fine for some areas it isn’t best suited for a dense urban environment where there are numerous businesses. Even when I have the filter set to the minimum 1 mile distance I see locations that are actually much further away because they would first require walking to a subway station or to a ferry landing to cross a river. I have found that it’s easier to judge distances by looking at the “Map” view instead of the “List” view under the “Browse” option, but there is no “Map” view available under your “Favorites”.

Trying to give it a chance. So far the surprise bags are for cookies and doughnut places however there is one that is supposedly for a store near me. The app says to check back at 7:20 pm and each day so far nothing has been posted from the place even when checking throughout the day just in case. I wouldn’t have as big of an issue with it if it weren’t for the fact that the app then has it shown that the surprise bags from the store were sold out even though none were ever posted. I figure the app will get more places over time so I will keep checking it; however, I really think they need to make a change that simply says the place didn’t have any surprise bags for sale for that day if that is the case instead of claiming they sold out for that day.

Great value, love supporting reducing food waste. I love this concept. A friend recently told me about this app and I’m so glad I tried it out! It’s such great value for money, no matter what you get, you’ll have at least a few items you like. Improvements I hope to see the app makes: - get more local restaurants on board - if there is openness to giving customers more choice, have a place where you can add in food allergies (i.e I can’t have chocolate but received a chocolate croissant, only item I couldn’t eat) - add a non guaranteed preferences section: I would like to denote my preference for empanadas over dessert pastries for this one local place, but understand I still get whatever they have left)

App is great but some places don’t give much. This app is awesome and my complaints aren’t their fault hence the 5 star! However, I will say there are places that are consistently cheaping out! For example I had zero degrees twice! It stated $12 value and purchased at 3.99. I ordered it, and came to pick it up. I got a cup of tea. On their menu tea was like $4 so I basically just paid for menu price without picking what I got haha. I thought it was a one off and ordered a second time and same thing. Cup of tea. I understand I am saving it from getting wasted but there should be some way of tracking which places should be taken off TooGoodToGo, or to have us read the comments we submit before other people order from that location. Besides that I would say the app is great and helps save food while getting a good deal on it! (Most of the time)

In love 😍. They have so many options when it comes to the stores (in different locations too) and the food from those stores are always something different (might get pizza, taco, salad, pastries, etc). I always order from District Taco in KOP because they seem to be the best - staff so friendly and food amazing. There are some cool pizza places like Zestos (great value and fresh/ heated up) but then there are awful ones like Primos (they make you pay full price for spoiled/cold food). Only ran into an issue once and that was with Primos when they didn’t have any food and didn’t cancel which made me go through the app for a refund that took about 2 weeks but don’t freak because they will get to you. Can order a few if available which can last you. You might get it at the very end of store closing hours, but it will be perfectly good for the next few days (if it takes you a bit to eat or order a few and planed to save it for another time). This app is perfect for saving food and on money. Awesome for people who might not be able to afford full price on food. Thank you ❤️🙏

Received inedible food - Waste of time and money!!!. I was very excited about finding this app and being able to help save some food from going into the trash. New to this area of Brooklyn, NY I thought this would be a fun and inexpensive way to try some of the local bakeries and restaurants. Unfortunately I had a terrible first experience and will not be testing my luck again. I picked a bakery semi-close to my area that had great feedback on the app but ended up receiving a bag of 15-20 stale rolls that were hard and inedible. A big waste of my time and money and a disappointing end to something that should have been a fun experience. App needs to let new customers read actual reviews from people to get a better idea of what to expect and to keep stores accountable and prevent them from selling food that should go in the trash. Customer service issued a credit to my account instead of a refund and a message that said it was acceptable for stores to give stale baked goods and expired items and included a link to recipes I could make with my rock hard rolls 😳

Great app & idea, would love Gluten-free as a filter option. I discovered this app today and I’m so excited! Grocery prices are outrageous right now and having the option to save money while also keeping food out of the landfill is so wonderful. The app is super easy to use and the options are pretty diverse. This is such an excellent and timely idea and implementation! I was really surprised to see that when presented with options to filter choices there is an option for vegetarian and vegan but not gluten-free, even though several of the businesses have gluten-free options listed in their online menus and society is embracing gluten-free eating in growing numbers each year. My final critique is that even though there is a tab to click labeled “allergies and ingredients,” there are never any listed, just a generic message to check with the listed store. It just seems like if your surprise bag regularly contains a major anaphylactic allergen like eggs, corn, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, dairy, fish, or shellfish, that could be added to the generic message to save lives, plus save time and energy for all involved. When selling food items, it’s the expedient and responsible thing to do. For these reasons I felt like I could only give four stars for now.

Great idea, execution is based on the retailer. The idea is simple: restaurants & other retailers have food that is perishable - if it doesn’t sell, toss it! Usually not because it’ll spoil, but because quality standards demand it. The retailers who get it set aside the “spoils” at the end of the day & make them available here at a big discount (think “day old bread store” but for a lot more than bread). But there are some who just use this app as a gimmick to get customers to come in & try them out. You’re not saving anything - they just give you things off the shelf like any other customer, and without much in the way of savings. Once I get those, I just avoid them going forward. Still, for the ones who get it, this is an awesome app! I’ve had meals I’d never have ordered on my own, & my kids have tried pastries & bread products they’d have never eaten otherwise!

Good concept but needs work. The concept of this app is great as it prevents food waste, but it seems more catered to restaurants than to customers. There is a lack of a review system besides star ratings, and it would be nice to get an idea of what to expect even if things change on a daily basis. Also, customers are only allowed cancellation up to 2 hours before pickup time. However, the store can cancel your order whenever. The fact that I had an order cancelled 20 minutes beforehand was bothersome considering how I made the drive and was given such short notice that my order was cancelled. I understand it’s hard to determine how inventory changes on a day by day basis, but why are restaurants available for next day pickup rather than making it available hours before pickup so that they can at least determine the amount to distribute on the app so it minimizes cancellation?

THIS APP IS A WASTE OF YOUR TIME:STAY AWAY. If Apple allowed to rate an app with negative stars I would give this NEGATIVE TEN STARS. The first time I bought a surprise bag from a pizza joint, you had to show up at 11:30 at night. I get there and the restaurant is t even open Second time I buy a surprise bag from a bakery and half an hour before pick up I get a text message saying Oops there’s no food going to waste we’ll refund your money. Third time I buy a surprise bag from a different bakery. Again I get a text half an hour before pick up time: Oops there’s no food going to waste we’ll refund your money. Sorry but three strikes and you’re out! I’m deleting this app and telling everyone I know that it’s just an exercise in futility. They’ll probably delete this review. It’s a great concept but they really need vetting of their partners I’m thoroughly disgusted and disappointed. I’ll just buy whatever the cost of the surprise bag is in canned foods and take it to a local food bank! Shame on Too Good to go!!

Fast and easy. This is a great way of saving food which is still very much eatable a chance to end up in people’s stomachs. Wish there was a way to get recently expired or soon to expire or near best by date products to people who could really use them like the growing Homeless population many cities including Dallas, Texas has. And stop penalizing companies and incentivizing them to give these products to homeless shelters without fear of being sued for out of date but still safe to eat food. If I had a big enough vehicle I would help collect these products for distribution to the various homeless shelters around the area. Contact me if I can help. Let’s help feed our local in need. L.F.O.L.I.N. We’ll work on the acronym

Hidden Gem. This app does two great things at once- you get food for a discounted price, and restaurants waste less food each day. I have picked up 7-8 packages from restaurants using Too Good To Go and it’s a great idea that’s starting to catch on! I have been satisfied or extremely satisfied with each of the surprise bags! The food is the exact same that they sell, nothing wrong with it at all, it’s just surplus! The only things you should be mindful of are: food is to be picked up at a certain time (usually when the restaurant is done with their busy hours and are soon to close); you can’t make requests for what food you get (whatever they couldn’t sell that day gets put in the bag). I can’t wait for this to catch on across the world.

Great concept, terrible execution. Tried this twice. First time was with Mountain Mike’s Pizza where I was supposed to get $15 of food. I showed up and they told me they didn’t have anything…then offered to give me a personal pizza. They then said I needed to contact the app to get a refund, which I eventually got. Second time I tried this was with Yogurtland. They gave me a fairly large container of frozen yogurt, but it’s coffee yogurt. That’s a great flavor to give to a family…because little kids can have a pound of coffee and frozen yogurt without issues. The only thing that might be worse than dealing with a two year old hopped up on caffeinated sugar is dealing with a two year old who was promised frozen yogurt that she can no longer have. Aside from these snafus, the selection in my area is extremely poor. App has since been deleted. If you can get more places on board and the participating restaurants to do better, I’d consider downloading it again, but seems like a long shot.

Lack of transparency. Hard to tell how good a restaurant is if I can’t read any reviews. I want to know how many customers have tried a place and what was their satisfaction level. A couple of places wrote that the food they had would best expired but still good to eat. I don’t want to leave it up to someone else to define what “good to eat” is. The category of it’s a surprise is too broad if I want to cut down on food waste I need to know if it will be a meal or just random items I will toss in my own trash. If it’s $4 for $12 worth of food it is not very much of a discount for a chance item. If I’m supposed to be buying the idea this is better for the environment and small businesses I would want to see how much or what percentage too good to toss takes. How exactly does it being a surprise help the environment if people receive food they don’t eat? App seems currently half baked with little options and no transparency. Interesting concept hope it improves.

Minimizing waste while allowing you to expand your palate. Too Good To Go is just that too good of an app at what it does, which it aims to do in minimizing food waste. While the premise of each purchase is that you will receive fair market value equal to what you purchase, there is the inherent uncertainty and with it gamble that today the store you bought a surprise bag from will have lots of leftovers. As for the stores themselves, this app allows for them to minimize food waste, make a few dollars off of their leftovers, and reach a potentially new demographic of customer who at first try that store via this app but over time can become a new loyal customer. I believe in the idiom “waste not, want not” and with this app and how it seeks to achieve its purpose, I am convinced that TGTG has found that right balance in doing its part to help reduce food waste. Indeed, I kinda feel like a 5-star rating does injustice to the wonderful work that this app seeks to do.

No customer service option for issue resolution. I used app for first time and ran into a problem. I placed my food order in this app for pick up from an establishment in my area. In the parking lot, I swiped to indicate I was on premises for my pick up. When I walked up to the door, the establishment was closed and there was a sign in the window they had moved to another city. I called the 1-800 number in the window for the new location but could only leave a message. In the meantime, I mistakenly—or actually I think it was the only way to move to another mobile screen in the app—I clicked on the “picked up” icon. So I paid for a meal I never got and was stranded at a closed location. Today, again I called the food vendor who told me they informed the app marketing dept that my location had closed but obviously the app did not get updated. I tried all the options in the app portal to try and report this problem and get refunded but it is all automated and each option led to a dead end. I even went online to look for contact info and their website directs you to report within the app. Not good.

Brilliant. The collective "we" needed this! I’m so glad it’s a thing! I know how much restaurants and big arenas waste food and other products. Here in this app you will find places to purchase food that’s fresh and healthy at the end of their business day … Delicious and or new to you. It’s full of discovery! The place of business gets to make their money back (thus you are supporting a local business to stay in business helping keep your neighborhood thriving) and YOU get to purchase some thing at a low rate that’s good to eat so it doesn’t go to waste. I actually even found a few places that I didn’t even know about in my local area just because they are a part of this. It’s been a win-win + a great experience for us. Get yourself a salad or some baked goods for a fraction of the price. Great for students, people on a budget, a person on the go. We've all had a variation of this idea at one point or another….and Too Good To Go executed it—wonderfully! I highly recommend it to anyone.

How does Surprise Bag offer sell out every day within a second of offer?. Generally very very happy with the entire concept of Two Good To Go. It’s an inexpensive ( mostly) fun food surprise. If it helps with food waste ( maybe) even better! The single thing that perplexes or confounds me is the stores that offer surprise bags at a designated time “check back later at 9:16” , for example. I have attempted to acquire some surprise bag offers for weeks at the designated time, but no matter my “readiness” to pounce on the offer, it sells out instantly. I am saying instantly- turns say 9:00 pm & the surprise bag is gone by 9:00:01 seconds. I am sure that people, maybe the same people every day? Have figured out how to set up the transaction for instant purchase. Maybe the business is only making one offer, however it is still instantly gone every day. Not quickly, instantly. Perhaps I am just not quick enough for the very popular offers, other than that I enjoy the whole idea of TwoGoodToGo very much, it’s quite a clever concept.

Love the idea but…. Love the food and service and I am hoping this helps to contribute to food waste at the same time but I am not sure. My observations only…the few places I visited (with this app ) where the ingredients could have been refrigerated and perfectly safe to use for another day may seem to me that the local biz is trying to acquire new customers through a low cost initial visit. Nothing wrong with this and I hope they are not paying high cost to be on the app. If this is the case I rather help the local biz by paying full price. A local biz around my area who is not on this app is known to have unsold food at the end of the day at a steep discount to local customers. This way when I buy at the end of the day I know I am helping food waste.

Doesn’t work for food allergies. I love the premise and those without food allergies should definitely try this! But in dietary restrictions there are no choices for food allergies, it only has options like vegetarian or vegan. It says that if you go to pick up a bag you have to talk to the store about food allergies. I submitted an email through their contact portal to ask about this, because that would be a big waste of my time to constantly be going to pick up bags I can’t end up eating. The response I got was that they don’t respond to individual requests and I should follow their social media. Why isn’t there just an option for the restaurant to mark that this bag doesn’t work for me and shouldn’t be offered to me. I’m sure someone else wants it and then I don’t waste my time. I’m very allergic to gluten and also dairy, but I am neither vegetarian nor vegan. Nor would selecting either of those options fully cover my allergies.

Great app terrible businesses associated. I think the app is truly a great concept and it can definitely help both businesses and consumers. However in my experience using the app some businesses are essentially using the service to turn trash into profit rather than potential waste into a decent meal. Prices vary based on business some businesses charge $10 for literal scraps. There needs to be some sort of quality control or some sort of requirement. I shouldn’t have to toss out the food they give because it’s just inedible. We should be able to leave visible reviews on the restaurants we ordered from so there’s more transparency. After having 2 bad experiences in a row I cannot be the only one feeling like with the popularity of the app abuse is inevitable. If a visible review is shared on the app I think it would keep businesses more honest and prevent a bit of nonsense. I don’t expect the best of the best or an over abundance but I definitely don’t want to pay $5-10 then come home and throw away inedible food.

Great idea but a long way to go. This review is for San Francisco. The concept is a great idea but it’s not very practical in SF. First, there aren’t many restaurants participating so in order to get food you often have drive across the city at a specific time. Waste of gas, time and a parking nightmare. Second, the portions are horribly small. You have to order two to three orders to complete a real meal. Thus, you’re paying full price for mystery food that you might not even like. Last, the apps review system is misleading which is a big strike against the app. You’ll see the reviews say something like “80% of users give this restaurant at least three stars”. That sounds like a good review “80%”. But it’s not. Three stars isn’t a good rating. And you can’t see comments about why that restaurant got such poor reviews. I ordered from two restaurants in one day and like one and the other was a joke. I spent over an hour driving around town to pick up the food. Not worth it in any sense. Great idea but not practical as current set up.

Lightweight a scam, not as advertised. When I downloaded the app, I was so excited because it sounded like a steal deal. But shortly in, I realized it was not that worth it. The stores that use it usually are the more expensive store, and they promise to give around 75% off from full price, but after trying it out, I realized it was only about 50% what these stores were selling it for. And since these stores are usually more expensive, it was only a little cheaper then at a budget groceries store (except for there, you can choose what you buy). After having multiple times where they promised to give me give me 4 times the goods I’m paying for, but only gave me 2 times the amount (cheating me out of half what I paid for), I decided to contact their customer service on 2 occasions. It’s been 2 weeks, and I’ve sent follow up emails, and I still haven’t heard a response. All in all, what your saving price wise, your spending more gas wise. You would probably be saving money by just going to your local budget grocery store.

Some food items SHOULD go….. I used this application and was extremely excited to (hopefully) get a great value with some decent food, but also to help the environment by reducing food waste. I selected a pizza place with a 4.6 rating out of 5 star rating. Seemed like a good start for my TGTG experience. The claim was that I would receive “a $15 dollar meal for $4.99”. Great deal I thought. EXCELLENT DEAL!!! Anyway, what I received in my suprise bag WAS a surprise. 5 slices of pizza that looked like thad sat out for 8+ hours. 1 pepperoni slice, 2 sausage slices, 1 margarita slice and 1 white broccoli. My issue… this is not “a meal”. It’s scraps. I would rather have taken that $5, gone to the store and made my own (better and fresh) meal. I give the application 3 stars due to the good idea, the ease of use, and the whole process (how smoothly it went). However… the product that you will get, the actual “food”. PEOPLE… do not do it unless you don’t mind eating 8 hour old food (which hey, a lot of you do judging by all the high star ratings). The food you will get….. it SHOULD HAVE GONE!!

Great app to reduce waste but Mixed feelings. I am 100% supporting the goals to reduce food waste and happily satisfied with the food from many biz who are happy to do the right thing. However, I don’t support rating the participants unless there is something wrong with their food. I have got food from different places but found that some of them were rated low just because the amount of food was smaller than others, even though it was still over 50% off. I believe quite a few people are rating the biz like yelp and Google. I feel bad if the ratings hurt the biz owners feelings while they are doing whatever they can to help save food and also make us happy to save food and the cost. Another thing I noticed is that the exact time to check their availability was added in recent updates which is most likely the cause of ridiculously high competition to get the limited amount of mystery bags from popular stores… I hope the time of release would be kept secret so that everyone has chance of getting one by luck!

Sarasota. This was a fun experience for me. There are companies on here I wouldn’t often go to, or even know about! I was introduced to a new small local Italian deli that I have never been to. I bought some meatballs and marinara while I was there and loved it! It was a great value and it made making dinner easy peasy! It’s a win win! It’s free advertisement for the company because I have been telling everyone about it and for me it was like getting surprise gifts (yes I paid $ for it) but it was a small amount of $ and I loved surprise bag of stuff. I would love to see more companies near me do this. I love supporting local! I did learn that I couldn’t pick up until my given time, actually I could do it 10 minutes early. This was due to how the app works, not the company.

Not notifying people sold out. Couple of times now this that happened when I buy a bag and when I go to location it ends up being closed or the place ran out of food. Some people just go to these places that are out of the way from their normal paths hoping to save some food and it’s frustrating because it wastes one’s time and transportation expense. The establishments need to take responsibility to cancel the order. Also the app needs to fix the time where certain places say to pick up and when customers go their the location is closed and everyone who showed up are upset and starving because they came after work hoping to get some sort of dinner. I know because I was one of those 5 people who showed up. I hope the app will improve on these issues, but I still see the wrong hours for that last location I went to. Other than these issues, the app works okay.

Amazing for people without dietary restrictions. I’ve done two Too Good To Go pick ups now and there are so many excellent options in my neighborhood (probably 50 participating stores within 2 miles). So far for $4 each I’ve gotten 1) a really nice wrap and a fresh green juice and 2) a big assortment of pastries, bagels, and muffins (12 items total for $4!). Both orders went smoothly from browsing to pick up and they’re a great value. I love this idea and the execution (at least in my area where there are lots of options) is exceptional. The only “downside” is that you can’t adjust for dietary restrictions very much (there’s a filter for vegetarian, but not for allergies), but I feel like that’s just the nature of this sort of service.

Don’t understand negative reviews?. I’m a college student so when I first heard my friends raving about this app where you get delicious discounted food, I knew I had to see what it was about. This app is amazing! I do live in Chicago so there are over 100 different options every day! I get whole meals for 5 bucks at most and the food lasts me the whole day even the day afterwards. If I just need a quick pick me up I go to this app and can get free pastries for 3 dollars or donuts. Some places even give drinks! Seriously, I have nothing but good things to say about this app and I hope more people can try it out so it becomes more normalized. With the inflation, and sky rocket of prices at grocery stores/ restaurants, this app has helped me save so much money it’s insane. Forever grateful to have been told about this

Love the concept, would tweak a few things!. First and foremost, I want to say that I really do love the concept from this app. While I have only gotten one bag thus far, I did enjoy the selection of donuts that I was able to receive. Also, there’s a good deal of restaurants near me which provides a great selection to choose from. Here are the cons— (1) I am unable to see any reviews. It would be helpful to know why a restaurant received a lower or higher rating. For some reason, the app will just give the rating and pick out the good things about the restaurant but that doesn’t help me decide if I want to purchase. Was the food not good? Was the quantity not good? Was it customer service? These would be good to know before purchasing. (2) I honestly don’t know why they even have an allergen section because it provides zero information, it might as well not be on the app. I get that it is a surprise bag, but there should be a way to receive some information, even if it’s “a majority of the products contain tree nuts”. Alternatively, if I could specify my allergens and the restaurant can approve or deny based on what they individuals selected. Something should improve here.

Complicated for vegetarians. I understand the left over process cannot predict whether there will be vegetarian food or not, I worked on the service industry for 7 years. But there has to be a way for restaurants to be able to accept a certain amount of likely vegetarian meals that can be potentially cancelled if there are none available. I can’t digest meat, so I either have to contact the restaurant independently outside of this app or risk throwing the food away. This app is doing a great service for the waste of the food industry, but there has got to be some possible way to enable vegetarians to use the app, without instantly limiting them to a minority group of already trend restaurants. C’mon, like a place called hummus and pita isn’t likely to have a vegetarian meal.

Making a Difference Bite by Bite. Too Good To Go is a standout app that's revolutionizing the way we handle food waste, seamlessly connecting users with local businesses to rescue unsold food. It's smart, simple to navigate, and offers an incredible variety of options. With each meal you save, you're not just getting a deal; you're contributing to a greener planet. It's an effortless way to make a difference—and enjoy some delicious discoveries along the way. Having used the app for a couple of months, I've noticed that in a 20 mile radius around Pittsburgh, participation is limited with only 2 businesses on board. While the concept is brilliant, a wider network of participating businesses would enhance the experience and impact of this eco-friendly initiative.

Great Idea, Needs Better Diet Preferences. I love the idea of this app and Ive really enjoyed loved grabbing orders from places so far (bakeries have by far been the best). However, this app really needs to execute its dietary preferences better. Filtering restaurants by vegetarian / vegan entirely hides the places that do have vegetarian / vegan options. The ingredients and allergens section is basically useless because it gives the same “Your bag will be a surprise” message across every page. It will indeed be a surprise to me if I can’t eat anything I get from a place :| I think it would be a lot better if we could mark our preferences to a place in advance, then have the charge for the order go through once it’s picked up. If a restaurant can’t provide a vegetarian / vegan option, an order should just get cancelled, or moved ahead to a different day if possible. Something in-app instead of just asking at the restaurant! It feels like beggars being choosers to ask then, maybe ahead of time would be better.

GREAT COCEPT!!!!. So, the idea of this app is awesome. I without a doubt, am rating 5 stars. I do feel a few things can be tweaked. My general area without having to travel is mostly pizzerias and bagel shops, which by no means is the app’s fault. But I’m not going to travel to pick up a meal at 10:00 at night. Like I said though, not the app's fault. While we see how many stars a establishment got, the one thing I would like to see is, actual customers reviews. While bags can differ from day to day, a review can give a future customer if the quality of their bag was good. For example, a pizzeria by me, loads their bags up with physically very old slices of pizza that appear to be from that morning when the place opened while another you would swear they just took it fresh out of the oven. But that’s it, if you could include actual reviews for actual establishments, that would make the app perfect. Keep up the good work.

Deleting app.. I missed my slot yesterday due to circumstances out of my control. I went in the help section under "missed slot" thinking I could credit what I paid, for today. I got an email last night from you saying that you were just going to keep my money. It's not really saving me anything if your company is commiting theft from customers. I usually try a service a few times before I refer others. This app showed it's true intentions by the 3rd time I used it. So no referrals. Also, I am absolutely, without a doubt deleting this app. I'm also in the process of creating content that will tell the truth about what you did. Opinions are null. I'm on vacation from work. So I have 7 days of effort to put into my content. I have time to look up content that others have created and tell them what happened as well. Or..... hopefully I'll see a refund. ATP it's not about the amount of money. It's about keeping money that you are not entitled to. I hope this review discourages many from downloading. If an order cannot be picked up, how are you all able to keep someone else's money? Just as you thanked me after you kept my money. Thanks...I guess?

App changed my life. My family likes to save money and we usually go to Costco. We no longer do that as often because we use TooGoodToGo - we use this multiple times a week and are happy to finally support our local merchants. We would never be normal shoppers but this now introduces us to them and we feel the need to now perhaps patron them since they offer too good to go. Also, my wife doesn’t like the meals, she thinks the best deal is groceries. I agree - it’s fundamentally changed how we shop for groceries but honestly donuts are so good and a quick meal when it’s just me finding something to eat. I’m not picky! Keep up the good work Too Good To Go - we’ll use you for life!

So Happy. As someone living paycheck to paycheck I absolutely love this app for still being able to get freshly made food and drinks and still not go crazy with a budget. It’s extremely easy to pick a bag, check in on your phone, and simply show the cashiers. My only issue with this app is that some of the family and friends I recommend this app to do have allergy issues. One has a tomato allergy and the other has a peanut butter issue that can’t consume anything that touches it. And while they generally eat anything else besides that, it would be nice to be able to give a store a heads up in advance. Even if we like surprises and mysteries for the bags, it would be nice to at least make sure we can at least try to avoid some allergies.

Not a Waste of food, but still a WASTE of your money.. Tried 3 different places today. Was super excited to see what this app was all about. I saw an ad of Tik Tok of a girl getting a whole bunch of baked goods for very very very cheap. Yeah you don’t get much food. It seems like a way for a place to get more business, not actually to save food waste. Each place I went, I got small SMALL portions and they were poorly made. I was under the impression that restaurant will give you a good amount of food because it’s all going to waste anyway. NO, that is not the case. I got cheap, poorly made food. The food was made specifically for this app. It’s just another way of getting businesses. I honestly don’t even think that you get what you pay for. This isn’t to help food waste. They just want you to feel like you are doing something good for the world. I was truly disappointed and I felt cheated and taken advantage of.

Amazing app for saving money. This app is easy to use and food is extremely cheap. You can reserve multiple “surprise bags” and save good restaurants as favorites. Overall I’ve had a great experience. I will say that if you are a picky eater or have a lot of dietary restrictions, this app is not for you. You reserve a bag ahead of time and get whatever the restaurant or store has leftover at the end which can vary a lot. Also orders can be cancelled at the last minute if the restaurant sells out. This is all spelled out in the app before you order anything so as long as you read carefully, you should have a great experience. I paid $5 for a bag of pastries easily worth $20-25 and they were DELICIOUS. I’d suggest ordering 1 surprise bag from a few different places and seeing which places have the best deals and best food and understanding that it might be a little hit or miss at first. Excellent app!!! I look forward to even more restaurants and stores participating.

Great idea but at the mercy of the seller. I’ve gotten some generous portions for the $ but often walked away very dissatisfied. There needs to be more accountability for the proprietors to actually give the buyer a bargain for taking the leftovers. Often the attitude seems to be, “well, you don’t pay as much so you don’t get as much [as a regular customer].” My understanding is that the buyer gets an actual deal in exchange for not getting a choice. If I get a chintzy amount of something I may or may not even like, where is the benefit for the customer—paying for th privilege of “fighting food waste”? I think too many of the companies that participate see this app primarily as an additional income stream and forget that there is still a customer who should expect some level of “good service.” Really, if they only wanted to avoid “food waste” there are plenty of charitable outlets in my city that they could partner with to give the leftovers to those who might go hungry otherwise.

No notifications. If a bag becomes available or a favourite becomes available you get no notifications so you need to be glued to your phone to see what is available which I don’t appreciate I have other things to do then to be glued to my phone.

Absolute garbage. Was ripped off ! The app froze then it said I missed my order ….. what a joke

Reviews?. Why can we not read other reviews? It will show a 3.2 rating from 10 reviews, but there is no way to click to see more details about what the user shared. Very hit or miss. Last night I got three items that were all expired since June 2022. “Recently past their prime” doesn’t mean 4 months old. I also hate that the businesses can cancel - if this happens we should be refunded AND get a small TooGoodToGo credit on our next purchase (eg. $1, $2, $3, etc).

Low availability, last minute cancellations. There are extremely limited grab bags available in my city. I had to set alarms and attempt multiple days to purchase even one TGTG bag that wasn’t 7/11. The store was then able to cancel my order less than 30 minutes before pickup, which the app did not notify me of. Not worth your time.

Not worth it. My experience in Canada has not been great. Stores just put expired unusable products in the bag and Longos just give you their stale already marked as reduced baked goods. Seems like TooGoodToGo doesn’t have any standards in place as to what stores can put in your bag.

Store sells junk and terrible cs experience. The quality of stores are getting worse and worse. What used to be a wonderful app with great vision to reduce food waste is now often filled with stores who scam customers. I’ve been using this app for around 1.5 years now and the last few experiences made me uninstall the app. We paid $6 for surprise bag that basically contained garbage. The food were crushed and destroyed. We ended up throwing it out. Experience similar to this happens way too often, where either 1) stores falsely advertise their discounts 2) sells junk or expired food 3) a combination thereof. TGTG customer service also doesn’t help much. When I report bad stores, they ask me to respond back with full list of items present in my order, and their prices as advertised by the store, typed out because they don’t take photos. Why on earth would I 1)go back to the store to get the prices 2)spend 30+ minutes to type it out for a refund of less than $10? There are so many ways to improve this, whoever designed this customer experience clearly never used their app before or have any customer empathy (please fire them).

No food when you show up. I’ve tried this twice in Calgary now. First time the store had no clue about the pickup but made me some food on the spot which was nice of them. The next time I went to pick up at a different restaurant and the guy said someone had picked up the order. He said they only post 1 but often get 2 or 3 ppl come and pick up and that the app does not work properly. 2/2 with bad experiences. Although they refunded my money on the second it was still a waste of time and gas to go to the restaurant just to be told that there was nothing they could once I got there

Love this app. I look forward to my next surprise bag. Great experience with the grocery store. Apps is simple to use. Great value for the money. Love the idea of not wasting food. North Americans waste a lot of food.

Heart in the right place; easily gamed by businesses.. Seems to be monopolized by the local gutter pizza-by-the-slice chains trying to offload their dried-out leftovers. Seriously, 9/10 times I open the app, it’s just the same pizza slice shops spamming the feed. When have found offerings, they’re not usually at any noticeable discount over regular price. Example: stated value $18 available for $6. I show up and wait… and get handed a bag with 3 2L bottled soft drinks. Oooooh, savings! The pickup process could be streamlined because no one ever wants to scan my app or even see it, they just want the 4-digit code for pickup. But seriously, 90% of listings are jus expired pizza, mostly from the same local chain monopolizing the app.

I’m addicted. It’s like eBay but worse because it’s local

App is unusable now :(. Every Tim Hortons is now on the app in Canada. I live in an urban city, literally 50 Tim Hortons near me. It’s now impossible for me to see stores that aren’t Tim Hortons. I need a way to filter out specific store names.

Tim Horton’s. I got the Tim Horton’s surprise bag! So it went straight to garbage… You better let them dump it by themselves instead of paying them and do it for them lol 😂

Finally an app that is both useful and sustainable whilst addressing our growing consumerism.. Finally an app that is both useful and sustainable whilst addressing our growing consumerism.

Needs policy changes. Good at first, then restaurants started posting things they couldn’t fulfill- I arrived to pick up right at the beginning of the pickup window and many places either didn’t know they had an order or would cancel the order after I had already arrived due to lack of old product. There should be a policy that if they post an order they have to fulfill it (even if they have to use new product). The number of hours I’ve wasted walking too and from these places to get nothing is ridiculous!

Great deals bad app. The app itself is a great concept. Sell projects that would otherwise been thrown out if they hadn’t been sold at a discounted price. I haven’t been able to buy anything I want though. Everything is always sold out. There’s a very limited selection of sellers on the platform. The worst thing is there are no notifications for when product becomes available, so you have to check the app constantly to see everything being sold out. If I could ever use the app it would be great but I never can.

Expired Food. Went to metro and ended up getting 4 week expired salad that was brown. Waste !!

Don’t believe the “value” of your deal. Advertised as $20 worth of food for $6 from the bakery of a local grocery store. Price tags were still on - $9 worth of food was received. Customer service said this was within the acceptable range and did nothing. Food was also all crappy processed food and all desserts, not the fresh bakery items as described. All food was thrown out. Will never buy again.

Not refunding my money. I Missed my collection time for just a minutes i didn't get my food doesn't receive any refund or compensation👎👎👎👎👎

Cost too much. For being that this is to cut down on wasted food the prices are too high. Any money is better than none. Should be cheaper. Also ap is hard to find place in your neighborhood. Should able to put neighborhood name and it have a list for you to see

Don’t censor me. Please allow us to write proper reviews of the establishments we purchase from. Your generic, pre determined, all positive reviews we get to choose from don’t reflect what we really want to share with others.

Concept is good but app needs work. I like the idea and concept of this but the app needs to be updated and changed. For example, I don’t like that I can’t hide or remove places I’m not interested in that are in my preferred area. It’s super annoying how they keep popping up.It also continues to give me preferences from 12 to 5 AM or whatever it is when I’ve selected I do not want to see those in my feed.

Beware. This service/app is not geared towards customers at all. There was a problem with my order and had to reach out to customer service to sort it out. After three days of waiting, they were finally able to issue me a voucher. After my last experience I decided to hold off on using the voucher but unfortunately it expired before I could use it. When I contacted customer service they just replied "oh well". It is like they want the customer to forget about the credit so that it goes towards their profits. Shame on you Too Good Too Go for having an expiry date on a $7.99 value voucher!

80% Bad Value, Nearly Inedible, or Last-minute cancellations. I have tried to like this app - I really have. Great concept, and I daily use and love an app in a similar vein to save on and save expiring food at grocery stores, so I was very interested in using this app for a similar purpose. However, this experience with Too Good to Go has been just awful except for one single order at one location: - Half or more of the orders will get cancelled last-minute by the business with no notice or consideration, and most times this has been after the pick-up time already opened and I’ve already been on my way or arrived at the location. Waste of my time and gas money, and just plain inconsiderate. - One location, again after I already arrived, claimed they didn’t have an order (even after being shown the completed, paid for order in the app), and suggested I cancel the order and instead pay them a higher amount of money for the same item. Waste of my time, gas money, and a clear attempt at trying to cheat me out of a higher amount of money since I was already there. - My first order was a small, dried out, plain cheese pizza that was essentially inedible - my dogs got it as a chew toy. Waste of time and money. - The “before” prices on the food items in the app are ridiculously overvalued and blatantly unrealistic. They try to make it out like you will be saving 60% or more, when in actuality many of the items are basically at approximate value and just didn’t sell or are expiring soon, or at best you may save 10-20% (if they don’t waste your money driving there then cancelling it). You will not save anywhere near what they are trying to portray, and will be mostly disappointed in the product. Overall, the newest reviews of this app that are overwhelmingly negative are the most telling and accurate - don’t trust outdated or paid-for positive reviews as they are not the current experience. This is a good concept so poorly executed that instead of saving anything, it has instead wasted my gas money, wasted my travelling time, disrupted eating plans, and is overall just an aggravating and highly disappointing experience. To be deleted and avoided entirely.

Good for rats like me. Perfect service to scrounge for cheap scraps like a goblin

Needs a better review system…. Need to allow users to review their previous experiences with stores in the app. I have to go to google and hope. Some of the bag reviews have been awful. Letting me see previous reviews from users would help me make decisions.

Unresponsive customer service. I like this service in theory. I want to use it more. However, the second time I used this service the restaurant refused the order at pick up and insisted, I request a refund through the app. I logged the problem ticket through the app and was told I would hear back within two business days, but that was three weeks ago when I go back into the app to log a new complaint, it recognizes I already have a complaint outstanding on the order and won’t let me submit a new one so I am out the money for the order, and there seems to be no recourse or way to get a hold of anyone on the app or on the company website.

Poor Customer Service. I had ordered 3 bags and only received 1. When I contacted the business whom I picked up from, they were fantastic - apologetic and accommodating. However, they were unable to refund me directly as the pick up window was over and I was told to contact TooGoodToGo directly. I had assumed it would be an easy correspondence being that I paid for something I never received however customer service insisted I provide a photo of my surprise bag to assist me. Being that they responded the next day, I had already consumed my goodies and was unable to provide a photo. I explained that the issue was not with the goods in my one bag but that I paid for two others and never got them. Still they insisted that without a photo, they would not refund me. TooGoodToGo: I'm not quite sure how a photo of one bag would prove I didn't receive the other two. If you are assuming I am being dishonest, I could simply leave out the two bags. This solution makes no sense. I have called the bakery and they will provide me with two bags at my earliest convenience. I really hope you choose to reassess how you handle these claims in the future. Using logic in your assessment, along with trust in the word of your customer AND business partner (bakery) will result in more satisfaction and less disappointment.

Not worth it. The app is a great idea, but poorly executed. I have tried it five times to mixed results. On two occasions I was given food that being Ed in the compost bin. There was visible mould, and what was edible needed to be consumed right away (ie within hours). Again the idea is good, but it doesn’t fit into daily love well. Some experiences were good, but when you factor in the price, the need to schedule around pickups, and the fact that this is probably taking day olds away from staff it’s not worth it.

Sends notification then cancels. Received notification for pick up and while in transit the order gets cancelled. It has happened twice already over about 8 orders. Vendor blames app for posting without their consent. All around bad service from app and vendor. Unacceptable and a waste of time.

BLOCK PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN. First, they won’t respond to refund requests via email. Then if you dare to comment publicly to get their attention, they’ll block you on social media instead of just oh idk, giving you a refund or a voucher? Clearly not a good company at all. There are lots of similar complaints. Read them before the company deletes them. I did really love this app for awhile but I can’t condone bad business practises. Edit: They have since muted me on the Too Good To Go Canada subreddit, and then banned me for posting s comment about being muted by the kids after asking them to confirm they’re not affiliated with the company. It’s obvious that they are otherwise why be so defensive? This company is a SCAM. They oppress complaints to fluff up good reviews. Poorly run and terrible practices. Do not use this app. This is your warning.

Too good to be true. Today, I learned about too good to go via Facebook. I downloaded the app excitedly bought three surprise bags from three different stores (Metro, Tim Horton’s and Amir’s). All three stores confirmed that it simply is a promotion of about 30% and has nothing to do with food that will potentially be wasted. In Metro, the App says that the value of the bag is 21 dollars given away for 7.99. What I received was worth about 14 dollars. In Tim Horton’s I was given a small box with 6 baked goods. The value is 8 dollars (if selected and bought individually). I argued and showed that the app says it is a 15 dollar surprise bag for the price of 4.99. After 10 minutes of arguing with the poor lady, she gave up and threw a second box in front of me and said that she will take it on her boss! In Amir’s the guy gave me a plate of vegetarian food. I asked about the regular price and he confirmed that it is sold for 13 dollars. When I showed him that the app says it is a 21 dollar surprise bag for 6.99 (I payed 9.10 after tax), he said that all he knows is that he must give a vegi plate to whoever purchases the surprise bag through the too good to go app! I came back home and immediately deleted the app! My first day was my last day!

Scam vendor and bad support. Beware scammy vendors will bait and switch. Paid $9 for something listed in the bread and pastries section. Arrived punctually at 9pm pick up to receive 4 cups of old iced tea with stale congealed boba. SERIOUSLY? Wasted gas. Wasted food as no one is going to finish 4 cups of stale iced tea at 9pm. TooGoodToGo used same lame excuse to refuse refund…no picture. I tried taking pic but couldn’t upload to the buggy app. Wasted time.

Great concept but many areas that need improvement. Some features to add 1) Please include a Halal option when filtering stores/restaurants 2) Please include a delivery option as some places are too far from where I live 3) A way to communicate with the stores before you purchase so you don’t end up buying something that goes against your dietary needs 4) I think it would be great if TooGoodToGo could be integrated into other delivery apps like UberEats. This app is missing features that would make it holistic and more convenient for users and I think integrating it with other delivery apps would help and reduce all the food waste from all the restaurants that are already on these delivery apps. Hope this helps InshaAllah.

Worst experience. Review on 11th October 2022 I made my very first order for ‘prepared meals’ with the Too Good To Go app at Pizza Pizza, 55 Mountainash Rd, Brampton, ON L6R 1W4, on 11th October 2022 around 1:40 pm. My pick up slot was scheduled between 2:00 and 3:00 pm. My husband went to the store with the order details around 2:40pm and was not only given the meal but was also humiliated by the staff for wasting their time with an order that did not even exist. 3ZAP7W4TSVI was the order number made from my Too Good To Go account and according to the staffs at the store no such order existed. I don't know whether this is a fraud played by the store or the team behind this application or even a joint misdeed by both the parties. I tried contacting the app team but was only sent a mail saying they will try to find out what went wrong and might try to get a refund. I’m not bothered about the refund money that you’re going to return, what about the person’s time and energy that got wasted because of your misdeed and false promises. I wouldn’t bother if your team comes to my door and ask for 6 dollars. I’m ready to help anyone with a good cause and anyone who needs little money to buy food or clothing. Dear Too Good To Go team, there are better ethical ways to make money. It is never too late to learn good practices.

Nikita sharma. "As a user of the Too Good To Go app, I've been impressed with its mission to combat food waste by connecting users with surplus food from local businesses. However, I've encountered a couple of barriers that have impacted my experience. Firstly, the limited availability of participating businesses in certain areas has made it challenging to find nearby options for rescuing surplus food, particularly in less densely populated regions. Additionally, the variability in surplus food availability and selection has sometimes resulted in inconsistent options, making it difficult to rely on the app as my primary source of food. Despite these challenges, I appreciate the app's efforts in promoting sustainable consumption practices and look forward to seeing improvements in its accessibility and consistency."

Store Said its Scam. The Store I went for Pickup said Too good to Go is a Scam and You should not trust these app Pickup number -Y38RYAC83V9

Be careful. Have to be careful with what foods you get. And the places you go. In one bag I got food that was so old I was unable to eat.I also found a some glass in the bag. It had to be thrown out. And I throw out $3.99 with it.

Entirely dependant on the establishment. My experience so far: Rather than getting an $18 worth of food for $6, you get $6 worth of food for $6. AND you have no choice in what you get. So rather than a mechanism to prevent food from going to waste, it’s a mechanism to prevent sales from going to waste. One of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time, but human nature is what it is.

Good intention, Terrible App & Customer Service. Good idea to “save surplus unsold food” but my experience was that the food was well beyond any reasonable quality (there was literally mold). Even worse, the “value” listed on the app is completely fabricated. I received 4 stale dinner rolls and was told they were worth $20+. That is completely unreasonable. Customer service refused to refund my $ and was rude. Don’t recommend this app.

No worth. Good idea but is not worth the price. You just get what it will cost you at regular price. It said you gonna receive 24$ value for 8$+tx at Pho Mymy, but only receive a surprise bowl of Pho. A bowl of pho is not 24$. Scam, scam and scam!!!

Great concept. I honestly would hold off on using this app until they allow you to review specific stores with more than just ratings. Id like to know which places are scummy and which actually give you the proclaimed value

Scam app. They say you’re having a 25$ value meal for 9$. You get there and they give you 2 pieces of grilled chicken. I would’ve cooked at home have I’d known I would get scammed like that.

%90 of the time it’s a waste of money!. Great app idea, but %90 of the times, restaurants, cafes, bakeries give you their wasted food! So you pay to through it away if give it to homeless people. Customer service didn’t help much with issues reported. But here is some tips if you decide to use this app: 1) bakeries: most of them will give you only bread and buns! No goodies such as cookies, muffins, croissant or any yummy stuff they have on their display pictures 👎🏼 2) specialty stores are the best! I love cookies! So if you want to get cookies or cakes, only buy from those stores who sell those products ONLY! Don’t fall for the generación “Bakery” trap because you will receive only bread “%90 of the time”. 3) big retailers are more reliable! If you buy from places like Metro or a big brand like Tim Hortons, or a bakery production waste house… this would be a good deal. Other than that, you are buying, dry products, bread lol and leftovers. Basically good going to waste. So stick to big name, speciality stores and big retail names. And don’t count on cutomer services as you will receive genaric replys to your complaints! So

A must to save money in toronto. I got a $30 value for $6. Breaded fish sticks Steamed veg Fresh cut cantaloupe Chicken salad Biologique gummies

Amazing !!. Best thing i have found since moving to London !! This need to be worldwide

Tim Hortons. I did my first order from too good to go through tim Hortons and double checked I did everything properly, showed up to the store and told them I’m here to pick up the employee had no idea what I’m taking about and said there’s nothing on her screen yet, I wait 30 minutes and I keep asking her and she just gets ruder and ruder and says she has no idea. Waste of time app, if the issue is fixed in full I will change my review. Waste of a drive.

Value of time. Sure, you can save $7 on a meal if you are willing to spend an hour favouriting and securing a deal (one of 5 spots). Totally not worth it, support is terrible, you literally get a bag of expired rotten food for half the regular price that will be totally uneatable. But lucky you- you are one or only 5 people to get this scam of a deal.

Wasted time as there was no food to pick up. While this may reflect the store rather than the app, I was thoroughly disappointed when I travelled all the way to the store to pick up my order, on time, only to find out that they did not have any food left for me. I would have appreciated if they cancelled the order ahead of time so as to not waste my time, money or fuel. On that thought, it kinda seems like a ploy to get customers in the store - “Sorry I don’t have any old food to give you, why not buy some full priced items instead”. The app needs to pay close attention to stores that have a history of not cancelling (in due time) orders that can’t be fulfilled, it’s seems fraudulent to treat customers this way.

Canadians and Vancouverites BE AWARE. This app was pretty darn good when it started off. I remember seeing a segment on CTV news about how this new app would allow shoppers to get discounted goods that were close to expiration or had to be thrown daily. Now you literally get THE BUSINESSES GARBAGE. Be prepared to receive MOLDY OLD FOOD that is not days but weeks past its date. It’s as if the businesses that sign up assume we the general public want literal trash and that we can’t afford to eat. I’ve been given literally creamer packages from 7/11 when it was supposed to be a few breakfast items. This app is HOT GARBAGE. Either the developers need to get in touch with the businesses and or this app is a total bust. No customer service agent will help you and bots make fake reviews everyday. It’s as if the app was sold off to some scummy grocer who’s now charging money for EXPIRED GARBAGE AND CERTAINLY NOT EDIBLE FOOD. YOU TRY EATING 2 WEEK OLD CREAM CHEESE. GARBAGE DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND IF ANY BUSINESS DOES YOU WRONG TELL EM TO THEIR FACE THAT THEIR A DISGRACE AND COMPLAIN TO THIS APP.

Great concept but hope the search function is improved!. I love the concept of saving food from landfills! So the 5 star is for the concept and our experience. My suggestion for improvement would be that the search function doesn’t really show me all that is available. Friends tell me that certain restaurants are on, but I can’t find them. The recommendation for my area is hit or miss. But every time I’ve gone through the app it is great. So it’s just the search function that could be improved

Such a smart idea!. This is such a great idea to save food waste! I’ve used this app 5 times so far at at least 4 different places and every time the food is delicious and I get a ton of it for a great price! Only drawback is it takes some time for towns to catch on. So the town that I work in has a ton of different places that are participating, but there’s currently only a few options in the town I live in (and that’s compared to a few months ago when there was none!). So it might take a little bit for restaurants in your town to start appearing, but I promise it’s worth the wait!

Let’s end food waste.. Such a genius idea for an app. If the experience could be more uniform from merchant to merchant, it would be a staple app for me. I am a graduate nursing student, so getting discounted pastries and meals is amazing - and I also feel good about it not going into the trash. One suggestion to continue to improve the app would be to add an add-on option. Many of the speciality coffee shops offer pastries and I would love to add a coffee if that’s an option potentially moving forward. I had one ask me when I arrived, but I was behind schedule and didn’t have time to wait. So, I would say - yes, add that, and the all can keep getting sweeter.

Services and Apps like these are a necessity, and 2Good2Go is perfect for me.. I have only been using the app for a few weeks, but I love it. The app is simple to use, there are no annoying ads. If there are I haven’t noticed them. I wouldn’t mind a few ads i FB it supports the app, though). I think the service of making sure food doesn’t go to waste should be a requirement. The food is discounted and that’s great incentive to pick up something. Being in the store generally just makes just want to return as well. I have gone into a few local shops I haven’t visited before and probably would not have otherwise.

Cool concept, but needs improvement. I love the concept of eliminating food waste and providing more affordable options for eating out. I would just improve the app by allowing there to be some way to let the restaurants know about allergens or food preferences. For example, I can’t eat beef or pork and I have no way of telling the restaurant to not put either in my order unless I called ahead. I also have dairy allergies so it would be nice to be able to know what food you’re getting. I think the surprise bag of food is a nice concept for people with easy palates but I would like to know what I’m spending money on because if it’s something I can’t eat, the food gets wasted either way.

nice in theory, but..... ...it needs work. a lot of work. the rating system seems intentionally misleading and vague. they interchange metrics (3 stars vs 4 stars) and hope you won’t notice. for instance, “80% of customers rate this place 3 stars or more” could mean that 80% rate the restaurant at 3 stars, 20% rate it at 4 stars, and 0% rate it at 5 stars... OR it could mean that 100% of customers rate the restaurant at 5 stars. just use a star system like every other rating website does? additionally, it’s super easy for restaurant owners to game the system. i paid $5 for a bag valued at $18.. i got a reheated can of Campbell’s soup that probably cost the restaurant less than $1. i lost money on food that i didn’t even eat (i love clam chowder but not old canned chowder) and i lost money on gas driving over there. i reached out to the company via the receipt for a refund and did not receive a response. for this to work, it needs to be fruitful and fair for both restaurants and customers, there need to be consequences for restaurants who cheat customers and they need to have a responsive customer service team for when these things happen. buying a “mystery bag” of anything requires trust and i don’t feel like this company presents itself as being very trustworthy. i hope they get things ironed out.

Great app, oversimplified. Why can I see the amount of people that have reviewed the restaurant, but can’t click in to see the reviews? Handful of restaurants I’ve been to frequently because the food is good, but each time they have us waiting 15+ minutes for pickup, even when we’re well into the pickup window, and I’d love to leave them feedback on that. While I know it’s meant to be a surprise every night, why do you ask what the restaurant gave, but I don’t get anything other than the “the items in your bag will be a surprise,” rather than something like: “past customers have reported getting etc, etc, etc”? Also, the search function is just rough.

Enjoying my perks. I’m really enjoying the surprise bags. Definitely pay close attention to the rating systems 4.5 and higher is definitely important when it comes to the content of your bag. It will pertain to amount and/or quality of the items included. It would be amazing if more restaurants in our area would join up. One can only get so many pastries, don’t get me wrong, I do love them but I’m trying to live a somewhat healthy lifestyle. It’s so awesome that I can pickup these items discounted at the end of the day so they don’t end up in the trash.

My new favorite app - job well done!. The value I have gotten from this app is incredible. I really appreciate the vision of this company. It is good for the customer, the business, and I feel a lot better knowing this food is going to be repurposed into something tasty rather than end up in a landfill. It is worth noting that my experience with this app will be different from others. I live in a densely populated area so there are naturally more options within a relatively close distance. I also do not have any dietary restrictions so I have plenty of variety.

Good idea but not fully there yet. This is an excellent concept from and environmental and economic stance. However, many of these places already offer discounted food in day old items and therefore the savings is not accurate. I have bought three bags now and another with my wife’s app, and I can tell you that the money it says you saved is wrong because the price shown is the value of what you’re buying. So you need to subtract what you paid to see the actual savings. Also, some places are just Not worth it particularly when you give up warmth, freshness and choice. I got a bag of say old Jalapeño bagels for $3.29 When I could’ve paid $5 to pick the bag of day old bagels of choice. This “surprise idea might be enhanced by allowing customers To pick the types of surprise bags.

The surprise part is whether or not you get the food. Here in the NJ ‘burbs, I drove 6 miles to a sports bar at the allotted time of 11:30 PM to midnight. After 10 minutes or so waiting, the manager came out and said there was no food left. I said, how can that be, I reserved it and paid for it? He said they have no food left and can’t predict what they will have at the end of the night, and they don’t make food specially for their surprise bags. The “surprise” he furthered explained, is maybe you get food or maybe you don’t, like shooting craps. I notified the app that I didn’t receive the food, and my order was “canceled”. I am unable to leave a review of the restaurant on the app. No one loses except the app user, who wastes time, gas and money.

Genius.. This app is so much fun. Sometimes it can be a little hit or miss and I wish they would allow you to leave some kind of review messages for people or even just to the company. So far I’ve used it four times and three of four times I’ve been more than happy with what I got. The only time I wasn’t super impressed was when I went to a doughnut shop that had just started using this app and they gave me like three doughnuts (I paid $5) but I went to another even nicer doughnut place and got 8 doughnuts which would have been like $18 for $4. They were delicious! I’m glad I can help save food waste and try lots of new places.

Let me see others’ reviews. Overall, i like this app. It saves me money, gives me a reason to try new places, and it’s good for the planet. But the one feature that’s missing is the ability to see others’ reviews. After every purchase, you are asked to rate and write about your experience. I was filling it in to heyothers, but it turns out that the info I entered is not viewable. That’s really disappointing and now I’m not interested in entering reviews anymore. Also, it’d be nice to see other reviews, because then I’d get an idea of what’s in the surprise bag. For example, I got a bag from a market expecting produce, but I only got packaged candies and cookies.

this application plays in favor of sellers, buyers do not win anything. First of all, it's a great idea to reduce the amount of wasted food. But unfortunately the developers of this application cannot guarantee the quality, quantity and freshness of the food that buyers get from sellers. I had a bad experience - I bought surprise bags 3 times and all 3 times the food was very stale, tasteless and it was a very ridiculous amount! for example, in a pizzeria, they gave me 2 slices of a small pizza for $5, which are supposedly $18 at the original price, as said in the app. The price of a whole pizza in this pizzeria is $12-13, I could just come there without an app and buy the same 2 slices of pizza for the same money, at any time convenient for me. In general, this application plays in favor of sellers, buyers do not win anything, they just buy not fresh food, which is most often a place in the trash can!

Brilliant. I never write reviews but honestly, I’m surprised it took someone so long to come up with this idea. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and I’ve seen firsthand how much gets thrown out nightly, especially baked goods. I’ve ordered from several bakeries and, with a couple exceptions, generally distribute all the contents of my bag to my local homeless. For $6, I get to help restaurants make a little extra money, minimize food waste, and feed several homeless people. And the food I have kept for myself has been consistently delicious. A perfect app at the perfect time. And so great to see new businesses being added all the time. Everyone should use this app!

Great concept, app needs help. Concept is great. The places I pickup from are great. The customer service and execution of this app leave A LOT to be desired. The latest UI update I thought would do more than just highlight pickup times. If that was what y’all spent time on, hire someone else. A huge issue is you can’t cancel within 2 hours. At all. I don’t care if I can’t get my $$ back, but if it’s an app about not wasting food then let it go to someone else! Also, I’m so tired of seeing 7-11 on my home screen every time I load the app. I don’t want food from there, not now, not ever in my life. Let me customize the home screen with what I actually want to see and stop wasting my time scrolling to the bottom or clicking the favorites button. Load what I want to see on the initial window! If there’s news restaurants then have a notification bubble pop up. Also, most of the images are complete misrepresentations of what will be offered. USE THE USER PHOTOS!!!!! Check your own subreddit. Read what the people are saying.

App is fine; food can be skimpy. I ordered and picked up three bags at three different establishments in one evening. New to this process, I didn’t know what to expect in a $4.99 “bag,” the price at each location. At Panera Bread, they told me to pick four items from their case — four large cookies and/or bagels. Second stop was a local sweets bakery, where they gave me two donuts, six donut holes and a raspberry boba smoothie. The third stop was Cold Stone Creamery, which provided me with two small cups of ice cream (don’t know what flavor) and a large waffle cone. Thank goodness I was headed straight home! Overall, I was underwhelmed. Probably won’t use the app again.

Needs notifications. Fun idea to reduce food waste! Tried it once when I was able to get something local and it was decent (few pastries, several cookies, great way to try some place new). However, the notification system doesn’t work like you’d expect: sending you a notice when your favorited/starred places post their goods. To be able to score a bag from the popular spots, you have to use a third party notification app/service and that’s just sad. I tried setting alarms for the times my store would post but it’s so random, it’s just a frustration and disappointment. I gave this 2 stars because while it’s a cool idea, you can’t really use it without the 3rd party service. I’d gladly re-review it and use the app if it ever put in the notification feature as any customer would expect.

Realistically might be BEST app idea of all time. There are virtually zero downsides to this app. It literally is as simple as spending a fraction of the normal price for, at minimum, one full-sized meal (it is often more). If there was a catch, it would be that you have to be on the app right when the restaurant availability pops up or else they get sold out quickly if they’re popular. I’ve used this many times and have gotten an outstanding amount of quality food for $4 in every instance. It’s a win-win-win-win, for users getting a cheap meal, for the restaurants making some extra money by selling food they wouldn’t have otherwise sold and needed to throw away, for 2G2G for making a fee paid by restaurants, and humanity in general for reducing food waste. Absolutely no downside for anyone involved in the transaction that I can see. I never write reviews on here, but I am writing this to help the app continue to expand its reach to more restaurants and continue growing and thriving. Huge thanks to whoever had this brilliant idea and executed it so perfectly!

Two Great Experiences!. I heard about To Good to Go on the radio and tried it. The app is well done and easy to use. It also uses Apple Pay. I had one bad experience when a store was no longer in business when I went to pick up my order. I. Used the Help function on the app to explain and got an immediate response that my purchase would be cancelled and my payment would be refunded. I would like to be able to read people’s reviews about their purchases so I could make other choices, but I don’t know how to find them. I will look at reviews in the App Store. Overall, this is a wonderful concept.

Map View Browse. This seems to be a great app on first browse, but I found a gap. I don’t have a car & stick to the train, so I’m looking for things walking distance from train stops. I have my location set, & the tile view looks neat & with proper contrast. However I’d like to see things from a map view to trace the train. If that’s a big ask for devs or $, the tile view has no visible addresses (though I saw a couple on small supermarket tiles). That would be a low cost adjustment & help a little. It seems like there’s enough space & proper context if you add it after the pick up times since space is an issue around the business name. Good luck on your great service!

Not bad.. I think the app concept is great, but having used it in Europe and the US, fair warning the options are much more limited in the US—especially if you’re not in NYC. it’s also slightly frustrating that you can’t see what at the very least a general idea of what you’re getting—more detailed reviews from other people, examples from other people etc. The customer service aspect also leaves a bit to be desired. They’re prompt which is nice, just probably not the most helpful or accommodating. Overall, not bad and you’re saving food waste which is always great, it’s just frustrating how limited the options are, and when you have a slight issue or the app is unclear that customer service isn’t particularly willing to accommodate.

Comida criolla muy excelente. I was delighted to have a great meal on my first purchase on this app. I ordered three meals and the menu for the weekend had the chivó picante. When I saw the menu I explained that I love spicy goat so they gave us three portions with different sides. One had arroz con gandules and the other had habicuelas guisadas with white rice on the side. Everything tasted great and the order was shared with two people who never had Dominican food or goat. They really enjoyed the meal and I was proud to say that it tasted authentic! I’m from New York City where a lot of Dominican restaurants offer these meals. I felt right at home. Will order again and definitely visiting that restaurant for the mondongo and sancocho.

Okay, but two simple things could make it better:. I’ve had both great and terrible experiences on the app, but these two things could make it better: Allow people to sort by distance! Two miles in NYC is a massive radius that makes no sense for people actually looking to get to know places in their neighborhoods. No sense in setting a location if I can’t go anywhere in the radius without spending more money to get there than it would take for me to buy other food. Allow for a more robust review system so people can see fellow customers’ reviews of individual establishments. If we’re all in this together, let’s be transparent about it.

Needs work. Nice to get these deals that help save food, but this app use to be more useful. Items marked Sold Out, use to show the time it was sold out, I assume, so TGTG customers can try the next day around that sold out time. Now, it’s only marked sold out. So good luck guessing when to try and catch these deals. The little heart icon for tagging Favorites has been pretty unhelpful. You’d think that if it was marked Favorites, notifications would pop up when that establishment has something for sale. That doesn’t happen. All Favorites, does is organize another row of establishments, your Favorites, for you to look at. I don’t need another row to look at. Now I hardly open this app. Feel like I’m wasting my time.

Notification on order cancelled. Brought the surprise bag for the very first time, so I am constantly checking on the app to see if I am doing to right thing. At pick up time, I had open the app to see it if prompt me to do anything that I need for the pick up. Nothing was announced, until I went inside the store to get the bag, they told me the order is cancelled, there’s nothing left to be picked up.. I was like WHAT?!? It didn’t mentioned any cancellations of the order on the app about it whatsoever. Lucky I didn’t live far.. but it was 9:30pm (pick up time), this is so wrong!

Mid. I’ve used this app for about a week now and have done 5 different pickups. I will say that the concept behind the app is awesome; we waste so much food in this country, and I live in LA, so the issue is amplified. That being said, the execution of this app has room for major improvements. 1. Variety - I guess it depends on where you live, but about 80% of the restaurant options available to me are donuts. And I live in the heart of LA. I don’t understand the limited options? 2. Transparency - It would be awesome if we could see WHY a restaurant has a particular rating. I want to see how other’s experiences went. 3. Alignment - I’m finding that some vendors don’t necessarily align with the whole fighting food waste movement. For 3 of my 5 pickups, the employees just ran around the shop finding random things to throw in the bag, that weren’t even expired or bad. I think some vendors take advantage of users and are just on the app to make a quick buck. It’s really unfortunate and TGTG should screen users for this when we rate the pickup experience. Overall, a wonderful concept. I just really wish it was deployed better because it seriously has amazing potential.

Cheap food! Love this app. This app is awesome and works well!! I am just starting to explore the options in Miami and so far have 3 successes (lots of good food for a cheap price) and only 1 bust (tiny bit of food). My friend uses the app in DC and loves it. Absolutely worth a shot if you have some time and can supplement with your own food (when necessary, which isn’t often). Prices so far have been $5-8 and so far a great amount for the price. Although, I am gluten free so there are some restaurants I have to avoid and sometimes I haven’t been able to eat parts of the meal (you can’t figure out what’s in it beforehand). But still worth it!!

Awesome idea! Some feedback.... This is such an awesome idea. I used it for the first time today to pick up something extra from the local grocery store. The process was quick and efficient. I’m glad the waste is going to good use too! The one thing is, I would LOVE it if I could narrow down by gluten-free options or specify to vendors not to give me... like not get 2 loaves of bread and fried chicken tenders. Which is what I got today from the grocery store’s bag. I purposely chose groceries since I thought it was more statistically likely to get old produce than stale baked goods. I’m lucky my roommates can eat it at least, but it was a HUGE bummer to open it up and realize I couldn’t eat anything.

I am going to get so fat from this app 😂. Good app, but one needs to plan a day’s meal ahead of time or get surprised as the app says … allows me to get takeout at half or even more, hoping more supermarkets sign up on my area so I can practice my cooking skills 🤪 Like any restaurant/cafes some are great by making a fresh meal then and there or buffet style meals ready to go The app itself is good and responsiveness is quick, my wishes are: Dark Mode and when viewing a favorite from the list and you return to the main list it goes to the top of the favorites list but this doesn’t happen with the main Browse list (no biggie)

Love what you do!. So far I have really enjoyed the app and the deals out there. I know for a fact that many of the restaurants out there throw away food rather than make the effort to sell it at a discount price. What you’re doing is exactly what needs to be done. I hate paying full price and I have no problem getting food at the end of the day or one day later. Same thing that happens at my house on a daily occurrence, right? The people who want to buy it, and it helps the restaurants willing to sell it! It’s a win-win!

Love it-spread the word save the planet!. Well, I saw app on tv so I downloaded it and tried it. Gosh, a bakery near me that I already loved, got two surprise bags and was really happy with what was inside. It was fun the surprise grab bag idea. Now I wish someone would spread the word to other food places in Los Angeles because it is not only a disgrace and shame that most places have to throw their food out and dosed with bleach so homeless do not take from trash. So glad someone designed this app! Years ago, we found out that food places have no choice because of the laws and ordinances.

Nice app but if your internet connection is slow too bad. Love this app but if the restaurant/store you’re purchasing from is highly sought after and your internet is even just the slightest bit slow, it will be snatched right out of your hands. So frustrating! This has happened to me several times- 3 times today alone. There should be a way to reserve the food for at least 30-60 seconds while you complete the checkout process. Also maybe if someone cancels there would be a way to notify someone who was interested and missed out? I see bags resold afterwards but never knew it was available. Pretty hard to constantly be checking the app to see.

No response from customer service. So, I’ve been using this app over a month now. I absolutely love their idea and was happy to be part of it… until this Wednesday. The story is: I placed an order at one of the stores, went for the pick up, and found out the store doesn’t exist. The address for which the app sent me to is a parking lot that clearly doesn’t have a market/store. So I figured there might be a mess up and contacted customer service. The website told me there isn’t a number to call and the only option is by submitting a feedback or sending a email. So I submitted a feedback and was told they’ll get back to me in 48 hours. Guess what? It’s over 48 hours and I hasn’t heard anything from customer service yet. Please, I love the idea of this app but execute it correctly please.

Great idea but hard to use with food allergies. I love that this app gives users a bargain and helps to reduce food waste! I have enjoyed trying it out but probably won’t use it often because it was challenging with my food allergies. I have tried the app at a few businesses in my area. At one the staff asked me about allergies and nicely packed a bag based on my input. Another gave me a prepacked bag. And at one place they packed a bag when I got there but seemed very frustrated when I mentioned dietary restrictions (though I can eat almost everything they sell). I think the app could better accommodate customers with dietary restrictions with a few enhancements: - Encourage businesses to include a bit more of a description of the type of items they provide. I understand that it will vary, but even a general description or an example of typical items would be helpful. - Add a flag to identify businesses that are willing to try to accommodate dietary restrictions. - Allow users to share comments about their experiences with participating businesses, such as what kind of food they got.

Absolutely incredible. I’ve been using this app for a few weeks and I’m both eating better than I was before and spending hundreds of dollars less. I’ve honestly been blown away by the overall experience. I live in San Francisco near the mission neighborhood which has many small bodegas with lots of fresh food. I have been able to eat for 2 to 3 days every time I pick up about six dollars of food and folks have always been very friendly and nice when I go. I would love to see more grocery stores and shops participate, since my neighborhood seems well covered but many others are not.

Impressed. First time using this and found a pickup available at my local bagel shop in town. I got 18 bagels that were made in the morning and I picked up at 2:30 in the afternoon. The value is incredible. A single bagel with peanut butter and jelly costs $6.30. With this app I got 18 bagels at 55 cents each. Yes, you can tell many of the pieces are not as fresh as when you buy in the morning. But they are still very soft. I split each in half, wrapped them in parchment, and now I have 3 months of bagels in my freezer :-) It’s so sad how much restaurant food goes to waste at the end of each day.

A brilliant idea that’s almost there. I love the idea. However their selection of restaurants and stores is limited in my area. That’s not necessarily a reason to lower a star, but then again it is. I expect that when they launch there would be a wider selection in any area beside doughnuts. Apparently, there are many, many doughnuts in my area. But actual food or non-sugar/sweet items is very limited. So why 4 stars? Because the rare time I wanted sweet there was a cookie store in my area only two blocks away. A great deal and excellent value. I absolutely 100% support the idea. I hope that they get other, non-dessert, businesses on board soon. I recommend them and will stay tuned.

Could be much better. While I love what the devs made the app for, it needs a lot of support. I ordered from one restaurant that was actually in a strip club, yes a strip club. I went there on time and told the bouncers I came to pick up food I ordered and showed them the app. He said so many people have been coming but the restaurant no longer participates. The app has no phone number to call, so can only email. I did that, hoping to hear back from someone at least within 48hrs max, it’s been two weeks. Of course I had to just call my credit card company in order to get the money back. Support is lacking big time.

The promise of this is amazing, the practicality needs work. I’ve been so excited to try this app as soon as I got back to Brooklyn - I LOVE the idea! Unfortunately one small design feature makes it completely impractical for a New Yorker to use. The smallest distance range you can set is 2 miles - small enough for a car based city, but utterly useless if you’re looking for options within walking distance. Two miles puts me in range of three different boroughs! No, I will not be hopping the subway into Manhattan to save $10, thanks... Let me reduce the range to .5 miles (or offer a map based list of places to choose from) and I’d probably use this all the time. For now, another great idea app parked on the last screen of my phone 😕

Amazing app!. This is a great app to reduce food waste and also have more access to food especially for the really expensive cities like Zurich! I wish more supermarkets would participate in this app, WAY TOO MUCH edible foods are thrown away, while so many people are starving or too poor to buy good food, and it’s one of modern humanity’s biggest tragedy. Apps like this really help reduce this. I only wish the app would show written reviews or pictures of the surprise products, so we know a bit about what to expect, especially for those with dietary restrictions. Otherwise, it’s a great app and I hope more businesses would partner up with TooGoodToGo!

Win win. I recently tried out this food rescue app for the first time, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! I ordered two bags, each brimming with about seven delicious bagels and a delightful treat—a choice between a flaky croissant or two scrumptious scones. To top it off, I received a complimentary coffee with cream and sugar. The staff were exceptionally friendly and expressed genuine gratitude for my effort in rescuing food. Overall, it was a wonderful first encounter with the app, and I felt it offered great value for the price. Highly recommended for anyone looking to prevent food waste while enjoying tasty treats!

Helpful and useful!. So this app has actually been really cool. I highly encourage y’all to check it out. It’s basically local restaurants and smaller grocery stores putting together surprise bags of their food for super cheap. It can be hit or miss if you’re a super picky eater but otherwise it’s a fantastic deal and helps cut down on food waste. I’ve gotten a lot of use out of it in DFW. Edit after using it for a while. This app has still been extremely helpful and most definitely holds its value as far as I an concerned. Especially for people like me who enjoy Indian food and Tiff’s treats leftovers!

Waste of time and money. Businesses partners don’t have hours of operation updated. When you arrive places are either closed or “ran out of food” also the value for money on those that do serve you is ridiculous. I got 3 stale pastries from breakfast on an 8:30pm pick up. They were hard and not eatable. $4.99 in the trash. The other 2 “surprise” bags I claimed the restaurant was closed upon arrival and the company has a long behold process to refund the money you pay for this junk. It’s a great concept but it needs a strong desire and partnership between the app and the restaurants. If you don’t have anything good to donate you should remove your allocation, but how I felt with this particular bakery is they were counting exactly what they were supposed to give me for my $5 not for the $16-$18 value the app claims. Needs improvement and better quality service from partners.

Worth It For Explorers. Used it three times so far, and it’s always been a hearty return on investment. Grocery stores, pizza joints, bakeries - a decent variety of options and pick up times. For less than $5 each go I got more than a couple casual meals and snacks. A better value than any quick pick-up at a gas station or convenience store. Even introduced me to places I was unaware of in my neighborhood. Plus helping eliminate food waste? It’s win-win-win. Not the best choice for the picky, strict diets, or those with allergies — but if you’re open to random chance, it offers some good, high-value options.

Horrible customer service. I order off this app several times a week. For the most part I’ve had a wonderful experiences. However in the few times that I’ve gotten orders from new vendors and the item has been inedible or should’ve been in the trash I’ve reached out to the customer service and have not been able to get a refund. I have even submitted documentation of what I have received but in their eyes if it still looks like food then it must be edible. I literally got wilted and mushy produced from a local grocer in town and they told me that that food could repurpose for some thing so therefore I shouldn’t get a refund. Another time I received food that was totally in edible and again was told technically I received $16 worth of food for $4.99 so I should be happy. The customer service on this app definitely needs to be better.

Works so great in Paris!. I just picked up my first order and loved it for a few reasons! 1) you save a lot of money 2) you get to discover new awesome places & venues 3) you also get to discover new foods, it’s a fun way to get a little surprise and excitement in your day to day 4) I loved walking to pick up my food, and getting some fresh air & exercise 5) it’s easy & convenient to use the app: it’s easy to browse, reserve and you get reminders when it’s time to get your food. Most importantly, you’re helping fight food waste and combat climate change and live and eat more ethically! This app is a win-win for everybody involved, absolutely awesome!

Excellent, I’m impressed. At the top I’ll start off with a “con”. You definitely need to know when to check, because things can go fast. Sometimes I check and I’ve “just missed” a bunch of great places. Also, if you’re not in a major city there’s simply not many participating restaurants yet. That being said, it’s really worth it. Obviously when something is good it goes fast! And it’s cyclical, so you can always try another day. Moreover, as the app grows more restaurant options will join. I’m excited for this app to expand!

Needs more information. I love the app, every mystery bag that I have gotten has been a great price and great items. My issue comes with the “ingredients and allergens” section. What is the point of having that if it’s A) going to say the same thing for each store/restaurant? and B) not give any details for what could potentially be an allergen in the bag? The way this section should be utilized is the store/restaurant should send in a list of ingredients that they use and the app should list what is commonly found in the bags (ex. “Bag may have soy based foods, egg based foods, meats, dairy products” etc. It’s very annoying and seems useless. It also then takes more time on the users end to do further research on the food that can be offered in the bags. If this was vetted a bit more, there would be more transparency and more people may be inclined to save bags. It doesn’t ruin the mystery if the stores tell the company what would potentially be in the bags that week or set up the allergens that day for the app, it would be really helpful for those that want to support those businesses and save the waste.

A wonderful way to try something new. I really appreciated. The store told me about this app as they were participants in it. I’ve discovered so many new places that I never heard of and love, supporting them, and keeping good food out of the trash. Recently, I was able to gift my mom, one of the bags I purchased at her local store she actually goes to. I found the store and ask them if this is something they can accommodate, and they agreed happily. It’s not every day you find someone who can pick up the phone and be so accommodating and nice and knowing it didn’t cost that much to surprise my mom with some thing that she actually enjoyed.
