MA EMS App Description & Overview
What is ma ems app? This app was developed for anyone involved with EMS in Massachusetts. MA EMS is a universal app that will work on BOTH your iPhone and iPad. No internet required. No one can remember hundreds of pages of protocols especially in an emergency situation... that's what smart phones are for!
∙ Contains the MA OEMS 2023 prehospital statewide protocols broken down into individual sections which are searchable and hyperlinked for easy access.
∙ Contains medication list with dosages that actually reflect the statewide protocols. Also includes links back to their respective protocols.
∙ Contains a weight-based "pediatric tape" for quick dosing information for medications referenced in the protocols.
∙ Ability to bookmark commonly used protocols for quick reference.
∙ New map function allowing ability to find nearest trauma center, stroke center or Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC)
∙ New phone list with commonly used numbers. You also have the option to add person custom phone numbers.
∙ Supports dark mode and dynamic text.
Starting in 2023 a paid subscription is required to use this app. You have the option when first opening the app to either choose an annual subscription (which comes with a 30 day free trial for new users) or instead choose lifetime access. Both offers provide access to all features of the app.

∙ Lifetime access (one-time in-app purchase)
The subscription period will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. To turn this function off, simply go to your iTunes account and turn off auto-renew. Renewal payments will differ depending on subscription and pricing at the time of renewal. Your iTunes account will be charged when the purchase is confirmed.

Starting this year, the Point of Entry Plans will no longer be found in the Appendix of the statewide treatment protocols. They are now considered separate documents. This version therefore reflects the newly updated trauma POE published Jan 16th. I am aware the 2024 statewide treatment protocols were also released a few days ago, those updates are coming shortly in a different update.

New update wants rebuy. I had previously bought the app through the app store. Now with the new update that just happened it wants me to buy it again through them as in an app purchase.
Simple and up to date. It's not fancy but it does the job it's made for. Visual enhancements and maybe some bells and whistles would make it better aesthetically, but that doesn't deter from it having up to date information and functionality.
Excellent update. Being a long time user of this app it has only gotten better over time. The owner updates the most recent OEMS Statewide treatment protocols usually within 2 weeks. This new app update is a complete refresh. Easier to see and use. I love the new broslow addition for peds. Thanks for a great update.
Great app. I love this app. It’s straight forward, easy to use. It’s very easy to just pick a protocol and go over it to keep my memory fresh
Excellent resource. Whether in the field, in transport, or writing your report. This is everything you need. Recommend as a reference for all EMTs and Medics in the state.
Best EMS protocol app. Every EMT is supposed to know all the protocols. Who has time to memorize hundreds of pages though? This app lets you quickly find the appropriate information to be sure you are following the latest protocols. Resources like hotline phone numbers and locations of trauma and stroke centers provide those crucial bits of information quickly.
Needs updating. Guys the app is pretty good. I would give you a 5 if you update accordingly. We are on protocol 2021.2. You still have an older version up. Please, update!!!
Needs to be updated. Good app but needs to be updated.
Aweful update!. Open the app during a carcinogenic shock patient and I am greeted with the requirement to pay for a App I have already bought. Horrible way to force a update, if you have to old version do not update. New app looks like it was made on a phone while riding the T. If I had another option I would not have downloaded the app.
Difficult to find resources. Where is racemic reference??? Others difficult to find
Bring back color coding!. This was a 5 star app up until the latest update. The pediatric color coded guide was removed. That was the main reason I downloaded the app. I used the pediatric section every shift. For normal vitals, common doses, equipment sizes etc. It was like having a Broslow tape in your pocket. Please add this back

Great App To Have At Your Finger Tips. Spectacular app that I frequently recommend to people new to EMS. Being up to date on protocols can be a daunting task early on but this truly streamlines the process for anyone who downloads it. New update is a big improvement as well. However I would’ve liked to see the map and numbers list included and rehashed. I’m not sure what road blocks the developers ran into with including it but it almost feels like a punishment in exchange for the new update. I feel as though the last version of the app was operational enough to where developers could’ve spent more time on the update to include that feature as it’s practically my favorite part of the app to highlight. Nonetheless the app is great and I don’t mean any disrespect to the work already put in to making it happen. Anything to improve accessibility and ease to folks on protocol information is a plus.
Out of date protocols!. When are you going to update to the current state protocols? This app is useless until it’s updated!!
