Nothing to Try!. You says it’s 7-Day FREE and you charge me $89 per year well in advanced? It’s a hack. If we like it we buy it, but don’t create unnecessary process to cancel later (most forget) while trying free trial. Overall it’s a bad billing practice. I have no option to remove this app right away. Hope you create a better experience.

Love it!. This app is very much worth the cost. I have learned so much from the book summaries, as well as the general life success tips shared. You will not be disappointed with this service. You’ll never have the time to read all the books you want to read. This app allows you to capture the key take-always from all of the best sellers and classics.

Poorly developed app Don’t Buy!!!. I must be honest I don’t like this app. It’s way overpriced for what it delivers. Very few book choices and the overviews have a lot of irrelevant information. Then I got my what I thought was a month to month subscription and it was charged as a yearly subscription all at once. Again not worth the money!!!!

Too many notifications. I only had this app for a couple of hours before it started sending me notifications asking me to use the app more. Notification abuse like this is a quick way to have your app deleted.

No valid support email. I am trying to cancel my subscription/free trial because I accidentally subscribed and the email this company gives for customer support is not a valid email and there is no point of contact. I assume it’s meant to confuse people and be able to charge them for their services. I do not like when companies make it so difficult or confusing to cancel your account so they can most likely confuse their customer and end up charging them. Not happy with this site and app.

Love this service!. I love staying on top of the best business reads but don’t have the time or money to buy and read the actual books. I had no idea Instaread existed till a friend told me about it. It’s been a month and I’ve read more books in Instaread than I have in the past year the “old” way. My only feedback is that I want MORE books!!!

Removing Account. Good day ma’am or sir. I would like for you to remove my account from your app. I didn’t know there was a fee and due to my financial status I am unable . S-L-O-W and crashing.... For the last few weeks Instaread (if it opens - currently just crashes on my iPhone) is INCREDIBLY slow! Sometimes over 2 minutes to return a search result! And yes, I’ve done all the typical troubleshooting to ensure it’s not the device... otherwise it is all the devices located in my household.

Price. I won’t open an account unless I have full disclosure. No pricing. Sooooo I shall be deleting. So many apps I have deleted because for some Bizzare reason app people think people on the other end will blindly give info without giving what they have to offer. Blink has done the same thing. Some reading app perhaps may have the brains to give info on price etc. strange world.

Love it. Extracting the essence of a book, makes reading fast and easy. Learning is fun and and even easier to understand then the actual book at times. Recommended for those who have a lot of unread books lying around like I do because of a busy lifestyle.

Misleading Free Trial Waiting for Refund. Went to try the free trial in the app and was immediately charged for the year. I immediately cancelled the subscription and am waiting to hear about being refunded. On any other app I have tried with a free week trial you are not charged until the trial expires. I feel they were misleading. You’ve been warned

Where is Dark Mode?. I wrote before asking about dark mode. That was over a year ago. I’m still waiting! This app would easily be a five star ⭐️ app if it had dark mode. Please hurry up and add this essential feature!!!!!

Disappointment. ******** UPDATED REVIEW ********* Instaread Tech Support reached out to me and fortunately fixed my issue with the app freezing up. Based upon their timely response, I am changing my review to 5 stars. This app is great for catching up with the books I have been interested in without having to commit to buying and reading. (I think of it like the “Cliff Notes” version.) If I really like the book, I am able to purchase it and read the entire thing knowing that I won’t be wasting my time and/or $$$. I recommend this app for anyone with limited time and a desire to stay “current” with their reading. ************************************* I used to love this app. I’ve had this app for a long time (I purchased a “lifetime” subscription). Pls I did download the app and paid one month subscription finding out , after that I found downloading a book of my choice to read I still need to pay , so I decided to cancel my subscription,l yesterday , I am still yet to get my money back , Pls can you attend to my query , so I get my money back . Don’t bother downloading unless you want to pay. Wanted $9 a month signup just for me to see what it provides. If it had only supplied on sample book so I could get a feel for their style, they might have had a customer.

Best app, Instaread. Best app ever. I never thought it was possible for me to read so much, so wisely and in less time. I read small parts of books they offer per my taste. If I like it, I read the whole book. Easy!

Love it. I love the app since iphone version. But when i try to use it on my ipad mini 1, it always crashes from the first page. I know my ipad mini is super old but it still can be used to read other reading apps so why can't this one? It would be great if this problem can be fixed

Well worth it - Saves me time and money.. I have this habit of buying books I don’t read. Mostly that’s because I fall in love with the idea of a book, and I don’t want to forget to read it. As you can imagine that get’s expensive and time consuming. Instaread helps me “vet” out books I think I might like without actually buying them.

Wow!. This is THE best reading app out there. For instance, you can buy a lifetime subscription so you never have to worry about losing any data. The support is awesome!! (Although, at first the support link in the app didn’t work so I had to find an email in the reviews). They had to fix a bug in my app and it was not an easy fix. They worked and worked and worked at it and even gave me a discount for waiting. These guys are the absolute best! As far as the books go, they’re so in depth (unlike most reading apps) they’re set up with bullet points and you really get the MEAT of the story. I just can’t say enough good things about this app. Get it!

Amazing app with some suggestions. Great app here and have some suggestions for you guys, first off when I download something I would like an option for the audio to download offline as well. Also when I am listening to something the media drawer on the bottom is useless because I would wanna press it and go back to the page of the audio. Last but not least on my iPad I would prefer to see what I'm reading full screen not the square border that doesn't take up the full screen. Other than those little things amazing app.

Watch out before signing up for a trial. BE AWARE Im a college student who likes to read. I saw Instaread and wanted to give a try so I signed for a trial. I was always planning that if I liked it i would go for the monthly subscription which is around $9. Well, it turns out that it charged me $90 dollars for a year round subscription that I didn’t sign for, and plus that, they don’t even have a customer service where I can try to fix this problem. I cancelled the subscription and it didn’t refund the money. It said: your subscription will still valid for 1 year. I haven’t see any similar online scams recently. They don’t refund, they don’t even switch from yearly to monthly. Once you paid, the money is gone. I needed that money for a college textbook. So BE AWARE

They are (IMHO) generally fairly similar, varying only: in their library - in this case better than most; in the utility of the software - easy to use; and in their concerns of the user base - unsurpassed. The old saw “You get what you pay for” is in this instance an undervaluation... here I’ve gotten more than I expected. I’ve changed my evaluation to 5 stars. ******************************************* UPDATED REVIEW ***************************************************************** I initially posted a one star review because I got stuck in a loop and couldn’t access my account. The owner reached out to me and we figured out where the problem(s) started. As is the case with the majority of single engine aircraft accidents, pilot error is the first place to look. Doesn't work.. Every night, I try to listen to a book, and it won't even play. It's like I can't even click the play button. It just doesn't do anything... I bought the year long membership, and it hasn't worked since I bought it. Looking forward to the next update! I will change my rating/review once it starts working.

Variety coverage. The fact that the app has the full coverage of best selling books, makes amazing and enjoyable to read or listen to the insights are the most important part of the books and having this app makes me digest the best in every book

High quality. I use it kinda weekly and in my travels daily! I like the content, the app overall, and the quality of the recordings and summaries.

Sending emails to vote republican. What the heck. I got an email today about how Democrats are hurting politics and the upcoming election. They also advertised a book saying that. I have no idea why this company is saying anything about politics. I got this app to quickly get through books not to have political agenda thrown at me. This is the first email I got from them on a book so please don’t say it was just for promoting the book. I really like this app and I already paid upfront for a year subscription. I was so disappointed by getting this email. I have been talking to people about his great this app is. Stop pushing your political views on people!

Generally good. Although looking forward to an update that prevents skipping around to random chapters during lock, unlock and poor Internet connections (even with previously downloaded audio).

Great app, just doesn’t remember my current book. Great app, only functionality missing is that it should remember what I’m currently reading and have a folder of books I’ve read, if I don’t save them manually I have to search for them.

Book Summaries are Worthless. I was very excited about this app. I read a lot, and wanted to be able to listen to book summaries while commuting and exercising. Unfortunately, the summaries are terrible. They are too short, too general and vague, and spoken much too quickly. I listened to five book summaries, and got very little out of it. Very disappointing. It’s okay if you want to get the general idea of a book to decide if you want to buy it or not. But you won’t glean much content from these summaries. Just canceled my subscription.

If you love to learn. This has been the most engrossing ap to date. This could change the way we learn— the access to insight is overwhelming!

Poor writing. I have a mild dyslexia, so reading books is literally painful, but hungry to read, I thought I'd give this a try. I loved the idea of cards, and having a paragraph or two surrounded by ample empty space was helpful for not losing my place. But the white text on different colors was hard on my eyes and I had to pause several times. But what has prompted me to delete the app is it's just plain bad writing. Disjointed and uncomfortable turns of phrase made sense-making difficult. There were even incomplete sentences. It felt like it was written by a teenager. When the second book was just as bad, I decided to try a different app.

Sounds great non response for help. Can’t actually do half of the features like listen to an audio book, down load something for a little lane trip and no one ever responded to my help requests. Great idea need to run this as a service biz - I’m done

Audiobooks. I really enjoying listening to this while learning on my free time

Too long. I really enjoy the summaries but it seems like they should be a little shorter. 12-15 mins is about my attention span, but that’s just me. Also, why is the actual books cover art not being used? Having different covers makes it had to scan for a book and I don’t associate the knowledge to the actual authors’s visual interpretation of what the cover should look like, but it’s not a huge deal so I wouldn’t count a star off for that. Otherwise I really enjoy listening:) Oh and being able to speed up the readers pace is really handy!

Too fast!. The audio speed where the narrator sounds normal and not like a robot is too fast (audio speed 1.0x). However, the .75x audio speed is too slow as well and the narrator sounds like a robot. Would’ve been nice if there a .80x audio speed where the narrator wouldn’t sound weird.

I’m being scammed. For some reason I have been charged for the last two years for an Insta read account that I do not have. I am not sure why you do not have a customer support phone number but it is necessary. I don’t want apologies I want my money back for the last two years.

Waste of time. I was excited to listen to my first book with this app. I listened to “things fall apart”by Pema Choodron. It was basically the same as reading the summary on the back cover of the book, total waste of time. I immediately cancelled the subscription. It would be a little useful as an intro to the book to know in general what the book is about before you buy the book. You could easily read a description by the publisher for free.

Beware.. Decided to try this out with the 7 day free trial, when a couple days had passed I tried to cancel as didn’t use the app once. Attempted to log in and cancel the subscription but couldn’t log in so tried to contact support. Have now been charged $130 for one years subscription.... didn’t even want 7 days let alone a whole year. I suppose it’s my own fault for not chasing it up but geez wasn’t expecting to be roped in to a whole years subscription. All I can say is beware.

Successful refund. They helped me to get a refund. Not sure what all the complaints are about l.

I can’t not use the app properly. I downloaded the app in my phone and my iPad, but after use the app in my iPad I can’t used at my phone because the subscription is just working for one device. I would like to know how use the app because I’m really interested in start to reading and listening at the same time as soon as I can.

BEWARE. Signed up for free trial no option and not told that you will be debited a full years subscription straight after. When contacted “help” email obnoxious lady keeps reply saying “as I said in my last email you would have been told” even when I mentioned had not been!! Terrible service just refers me to generic Apple support passing off any responsibility and have not been able to get the $120 back for the years subscription that I didn’t want or select. The new update is great. The content in the app is really good, the summaries have a lot of content and are very well made. But the app used to be quite slow. Now, with the last update, on top of the great content, the app’s performance is really good, very fast searches. I simply love it and really recommend it!

Beware. Thought I would try the 7day trial. A few days went by and I never used the app. Without any warning or reminder a full year subscription has been deducted out of my account. I still do not know how to unsubscribe! I can’t via the app? I can’t via email? Frustrating! I would like a refund.

Book summary app or what?. I love Instaread and have been using a while but I don’t like the direction it’s going with all these new summaries of newspaper articles and now news items. I signed up for a book summary app and I don’t see as many books being summarised, instead you’re sending summaries of incidental press clippings - that’s not gonna help anyone! If it continues I will cancel and sign up for a real book summary app.

Great idea that doesnt work. App looks amazing, you can read, listen or even visualize the book summary which is awesome. But! whenever i click on the "read" button the app crashes. Every.single.time. If that can be fixed i would love to use this app on a daily.

Amazing app!. This is great for millennials with short attention spans that just want to learn the overview points. The app still needs some improvement though and should keep track of all the books you have already listened to and should pause when you exit the app and not restart the book again once you open it. Other than that it’s is amazing and great selection!

Great service. Want to see more Instaread originals. They are awesome! Need a way to keep track of summaries you’ve read and a way to highlight text and keep track of notes. Otherwise instaread is amazing! I’m learning so much from these summaries.

Great app but have a Feedback. I have recently started using this app and it’s a great resource of books with great summaries. I have a small feedback: please allow an option to highlight or save highlighted text on my account. This would help a lot of I want to quickly refer to something that I had marked as important.

This was crap.. They charged me for a year. I canceled 3 months earlier so it doesn’t auto renew, and they canceled me immediately. I emailed them, send them messages, no support. I wouldn’t sign up on this.

Great customer service. I was subscribed to instaread’s yearly membership. One day I accidentally subscribed for a lifetime service for instaread, costing me $299.99. I requested a refund which was processed in a day. Would say they have a great customer service!! Apart from that I have been using instaread since 1.5 years and learnt a lot from it. Developed myself personally and professionally with a great enhancement in intellectual development.

Good for language learners. Following a text being read out loud helps you with pronunciation and grammar when learning a new language. Plus you absorb more knowledge in the process . I wish they had complete books to be read .

Cost money…Yes. I made an account and it wouldn’t let my read any books. It says that I have to become a member by due to other reviewers people say that it is a wast of money. I uninstalled this app immediately and I will think about it when this problem has changed.

Keeps looping and then shutting. Was really excited to find this via LA Public library but after downloading it, I found the App to be slow and it would close by itself constantly.

Poor content and notifications. Instaread makes content that is poor, has a very limited selection, and makes a mess of the dozens of notifications they will send you daily. Not to mention the virtue signaling.

Great content, terrible app. The summaries of nonfiction books are excellent. Instaread content is a great way to absorb a large amount of information quickly. The audio player is terrible. The user interface is terrible. The whole app needs to be overhauled. The problems are numerous: -if you close the app for more than a few minutes, it will not keep your place where you left off. You have to search for the thing your were listening to. Even if you take the time to find it, it will most often start over at the beginning. -if you listen to something part last through then try to start something else, when you come back to the first thing, more often than not it starts over at the beginning. So frustrating. -half the time you hit fast forward or rewind, instead of going 15 or 30 seconds as indicated, it will just go back to the beginning, or skip a whole chapter. -there is no way to save things you’ve listened to separate from a single shelf that includes everything you save. Once you save a few things, you have to wade through to get to things you haven’t listened to yet. There is no way to organize or only show things you haven’t listened to yet. -if you are browsing the app for other content while you listen, there is no way to quickly navigate back to what you’re listening to. You have to search for it or navigate back to your library and scroll through to find it. It is a real shame such great content is languishing in such a disaster of poor design. For someone who listens to content while driving, the constant restarting at the beginning is actually unsafe. It is too distracting to try to find my place, so I just give up. This is a one star app. With the great content provided, it could easily be a five star app with any effort to bring it up to speed with every other popular podcast or audiobook app available.

Scam app. Never received an email from them. They charged me $90 for a subscription I did not want. Now that I try to sing in and see what I “purchased” without my consent they are still charging me for each book I am interested to read. What a waste of money

Glitchy / crashes. No customer support. Used to like this app. Now most of the library doesn’t work. Even the ones I have already “downloaded” constantly crashes and says “hmm unable to fetch data..” I have emailed support for 3 months with no response and just want to cancel and get my money back. Very very frustrating and just responding to support would be a start. Fix the issues but refund me my money.

Feeling Mislead!. I signed up for the free trial to test the trial out, and a few hours later I get an email from Apple telling me that I got charged $90 for the freaking yearly subscription 😡🤬!!! Please help me get a refund!! I haven’t even had a chance to really even try out the app yet. I feel scammed and mislead.

Highly disappointed. Just paid $89, and for the last 5 days I’ve been trying to get the App to work. It worked well during the trial period. Now the App doesn’t even open. Its just stuck and if it does open, I can’t click on anything!

Annoying. They have terrible customer service they don’t email you back and they don’t have a contact number if you need help with anything.

Ok. Extremely slow to load titles, play audio books and read it. Not my internet connection; the app is very slow.

Be aware of charging you without free trial !!!!!. I was charged for 89$ instead of 1 week free trial , i need a refund please , this is not fair

Server error. Can’t login.. Can’t log into the app, nor use their website to get help. Both indicate server errors.

What a bad app. The deducted my payment, but I can’t access anything. There is really nothing here I could not get from a review of the book, bad idea

Great files/product but buggy app. I love their reads and analysis - but the app needs work. It's a bit buggy. It would be great if the motivations pop up would stop asking you to turn on notifications

Speed control. I used to love this app, the summaries are really good but they read it relatively slow so I used to listen to them at a higher speed. In the latest update I see that the functionality has been removed! Please add it back

A big nothing burger. I’ve always appreciated the Cliff Notes version of most books this is just one step up from nothing
