Extremely useful. Thank you. This app has proven to be very useful for me in security planning and long trips it shows one to think ahead and take precautions if necessary or avoid an area all together. I think it is a must have for anyone. I would like to see active reports and response by pd/fire/ems. Along routes To help planning travels or alert anyone in that area. A combo of your app and citizen.

Very Accurate. I have lived in the Los Angeles County my entire life and while driving for Lyft there were some neighborhoods I felt uncomfortable at night doing pickups. With this app I would drop off a passenger and turn off the Lyft app if this app said it was rough.

This used to be such a great resource for the $. I’m really disappointed that this no longer costs $4.99yr. I used to suggest it to others but not anymore.

Great Potential But Notifications Are Broken. I like the idea, and the app seems to have a nice layout. The developer also responds to me (far better than the ones who don’t). But some things can improve: giving notifications even if not open (after all the widget seems to work without the app open), telling where the area was that caused the notification, and prominent notifications. I have iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 14 and iPad Pro with iPad OS 14, and the location services set to always allow, and the notifications allowed with a preference for the prominent notification. However, the app must be open for it to give me any notifications. Also, iPhones have the option for automatic do-not-disturb-while-driving and I have that enabled; and this is why I have prominent notifications set for this app, but they seem less prominent than I desire prominent notifications to be. Lastly, the app notification only mentions I entered a high crime area, but in case it notified while I was driving or otherwise not looking I won’t know what that area was; so I wish it gave a city and neighborhood or a thumbnail screen-capture of the map with the notice, so that I get the notice and know where it is/was that was risky.

Meh. This is a great idea. I love the idea of getting an alert on my phone for when I wonder into a high crime area. I even paid for parents to have it for a year. Unfortunately, neither of us has ever received an alert. It seems like the app has to be running and in the foreground to revive them. I have the 11 Pro Max and my parents have older 7s. It is a great idea, though.

Essential app for road trips. All is takes is one wrong turn off an exit you expected to be safe when looking for a hotel or gas late at night in an unfamiliar place to make you realize how essential this app is. Especially As a mom, I recall all the road trips I’ve taken alone or with other moms to our students’ sporting events in other states and how often we realized we needed gas only to find out we were in a sketchy area. Or we were choosing a hotel before departure and wondered why one hotel of a particular chain might be cheaper than another. I’m not concerned with the price of this app….it’s priceless as far as I’m concerned. I use it and I bought it for my college student, too. I used it just last week on an 1800 mile road trip to choose a place to spend the night. My first choice turned out to be in an orange zone, or I went to the next exit which was green. Safety! I can think of dozens of reasons to have this app on my home page, but if you happen to be an avid road tripper, or travel in an RV and boondock at Wal-Marts it is essential. More than once I have navigated to a Wal-Mart that allowed overnight parking when I was dog tired, only to realize...nope, not tonight, not ever, and had to press on. This app takes the guess work out of wondering where you'll be safe and where you might not be. Priceless.

Very cool. Seriously love this app. I'm responsible for booking travel for our employees and this comes in super handy when trying to figure out where NOT to book hotels.

Great for college visits & family travels. This App has been very helpful while traveling this Summer. When visiting cities with my family, sometimes we go in separate directions during the day. This App allowed me to check the areas where each of us were going. I especially like the easy to use send photo feature because I could check an area and then text the info to family members. With a child who will be heading off to college in a couple of years, we will definitely be using Crime & Place when visiting schools around the country.

2016 datas unless I subscribe!. No color overlays on my iPhone 4S (iOS v9.3.5).

Poor app. Old information 2016 data Does not know really nice areas or really bad unless there was a murder there. Not worth the money. Actually its a rip off !

Invaluable when traveling/house hunting. Don’t leave home without it. One of only 2 apps I to which I subscribe. Before I decide to look at a property this is the first stop I make. Traveling with a young family I can easily avoid questionable areas. Would like to see this overlaid on my gps.

Worth it. Interesting knowing the area you are going in to prepare just to be safe. Or if you are moving and want to see how you town crime is it's good! The app will just keep getting better

Data is SIX YEARS OLD for Non-subscribers. What a joke. “Sticks” Larkin, you should be ashamed for recommending such a piece of crap app! What a waste of time. Very disappointed!

Just buy it. We have an RV. My wife sometimes walks the dog alone in the mornings. I wouldn't let that happen without this app.

Very helpful when exploring unknown areas. Update: After using this app for a few months, I am finding it to be a very helpful tool when traveling for work. Before booking a hotel or air bnb, I can use the app to see the area before booking. Since I am often on foot when traveling, knowing I am choosing a safe area, in advance, is very comforting. I find the app to be very helpful when traveling to an unfamiliar places. Recently on a vacation, I was without a car, looking for a place to eat dinner. Using the compass and map, I was able to determine areas I might want to avoid walking through. After exploring I found a wonderful meal and made it back to the hotel without those feelings of unease and doubt that can often accompany traveling in an unfamiliar place; it was almost like having a local help guide the way. Very happy with app, it's proven itself to be a must have when traveling.

I like the app. I just feel that it could be more detailed… using more data to label certain areas more precisely. I’ve been vacationing a lot lately and have been checking the app regularly during my stays. Big cities are always pretty dangerous so they’re always mostly red but recently I’ll be checking and the areas and they all have the same dangerous red labels but when I speak with locals they says I’m in the rich part of town at the moment or I’m in the extremely dangerous part and I need to get out asap to protect myself but on the app they’re labeled the exact same.

Not a Clue. Well I wanted to trust this app. Here in the middle of Walt Disney World it says I am in a high crime area. It also says that the only statistics it is using for default are from 2015 or 2016. This is not helpful being it is May of 2019. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AND WANT MY $1.95 BACK! Whoops, I’m safe now. It just warned me that The MAGICK KINGDOM IS A HIGH CRIME AREA.

Nothing show up in Bay Area. Not seeing any data with map or any other option. No usable data making me think it is t supported here.

Fantastic app. Exactly what I was looking for. Very streamlined approach and takes no time to determine the stats for the area your in. Other comparable services that are website based are way more sluggish and cumbersome in my opinion. Looking forward to when you update to 2017 crime stats.

Very useful. Early on, the app used old data, but the developer has updated the information. I found the app very useful when moving to a new city with several bad neighborhoods. It’s a small price to help ensure my safety.

Make your travels and adventures safer!. I recently moved to Philadelphia and this app has been invaluable when exploring the city. Attractions and landmarks are often adjacent to seedy blocks - in the past, we've had a few uncomfortable encounters. Since starting to use this app to plan our path, we have not had those situations - we definitely feel safer!

Nice layout. Old data. The app itself is great. If it had current rates it’d be better.

Greedy Developer. After subscribing to the app for several years at a reasonable price, they are now extorting subscribers for $50/ year. Good app for $15, not for $50. Save your money!

Need an update. It’s not working with the latest OS. Keeps on crashing on the 14pro.

Free app, not free information. After downloading the free app it notified me it is using sample data from 5 years ago. However, for a monthly fee it could access current data. Not good

2019 sample data?. When you look at the map, it says that it’s 2019 sample data, which is the rough equivalent of saying, “The weather is going to be 75 and sunny… Oh wait that’s what we thought was going to be four years ago.” How do I know any information on it is even remotely relevant anymore? probably going to delete it. How pointless.

Air Force Base a danger zone??. Just purchased this app and looked around the local area. I can’t believe the murder and robbery rates for a military installation. This is not accurate, but other ratings seemed about what I know about the local area.

Awesome Concept... Questionable Accuracy. I really enjoy this app’s concept. And I was convinced that this would be a great and reliable way to avoid bad areas... until dug a little deeper. I looked up the crime rate for an affluent area I lived at not too long ago, and I was surprised to find that it was above the national average above 6. This really surprised me, as this address was in one of the safest areas in the city, with some of the most expensive homes in that state. I suspected that something was wrong. I decided to compare this and other neighborhoods on other crime tracking websites, and I found that often times they didn’t match at all. Some websites listed high crime areas in places that the app displayed green, and vice versa. Some of those websites also listed locations and descriptions of reported crimes, and they didn’t really track well with what the app displays. One area was dark red in the app, but didn’t show up as having reported crimes from other websites. So really, if the data is questionable, what conclusions can you safely draw from using the app? One cannot confirm that the app is working as intended by saying crimes that weren’t committed to them. I feel the developer can improve the app by disclosing where the data comes from, and perhaps adding markers of reported crimes in specific areas so we can better see what goes behind the color. I want to be able to trust this app, and I hope the developer takes these considerations in mind.

Great app for travel. If you travel this app help define what areas you are in or near have crime stats. Great for both walking or driving as well as real estate... Worth your coin

Great app for travelers!. I have enjoyed having this app on my phone while traveling alone and while traveling with my husband. Seeing the crime stats of places we have visited before as well as new communities has been enlightening. Knowing that my grandson lives in one of the safest cities is comforting as well. Thank you Crime and Place!

SWITCHED ON ME. Purchased it when there was no subscription. Now they want me to pay a subscription to keep using it. It’s just not the sort of service that the average person would use often enough to warrant paying a subscription.

Does it’s job!. I like the app. It serves it’s purpose and is easy to use.

Outdated. I just paid almost $20 for an app that shows me 2016 data? The description says 2018 data is available but within the app it only gives me 2015 and 2016 options. What a waste of money, at least for me. Update: now I get it, after you buy the app is when you realize that if you want it to really work for the purpose you bought it, you have to pay $5 monthly to get recent data, 2018 but you don’t know the date period. Otherwise you have to stick with almost three years old data, you don’t need to pay even one dollar for that, other FREE sites show you more recent data, not from 2015 and 2016!

Nice App - Easy to use. The crime compass is very easy to use and it shows you where safe areas are. It works when you’re driving or walking - which is good for me. My family drives to Florida and Colorado on vacation and it will be great to see which gas stations or restaurants are safe for my family to stop. The search function is very easy and allows me to get details on specific location crime ratings. I also work in a downtown area where I often walk several blocks to lunch. This will help me plot my course at my home office as well as when I travel to other locations for work trips.

Invaluable. As a female college student going to school in a sometimes sketchy part of town, this app is invaluable. I feel much safer going places by myself knowing I will get a notification before walking or driving into a more dangerous area. I have also found it to be very useful when traveling. I take a lot of road trips and often have to stop at a campground in a city on my way to my final location. It’s really helpful to be able to check out the area a campground is in before I make a reservation to determine if I’m comfortable staying there! I always take advantage of the high crime area notifications. It's nice to have one persons phone open to this app while the other is on navigation during road trips. if it seems like you're approaching a sketchy area, let navigation reroute you and go a different way. App is frequently updated and I've never had any issues with crashing.

Too much now. I wouldn’t have minded a little increase but to go from $5/yr to $50/yr is insane. Stop getting mad at your customers for leaving this on the reviews. This is your new business model and we’re not happy. Waiting for competition to arrive with better pricing.

Gives us that feeling of safety. Alert works perfectly.. It helps when traveling when trying to decide whether or not I should take an exit for gas. Before this app, it used to be a crapshoot whether it was safe or not. Also was extremely helpful in choosing the location of our new home. We found a beautiful place in a low crime area with zero loud car stereo bass noise. Needless to say we are very happy with this app! Thank you!

Crash crash!. Still crash after it “supports ios16”

Not current. My map says it’s from 2019. And that a very small city next to me has a higher crime rate than New York City. Yeah, right.

IPAD Crash. Every time I try to open it crashes.

This won’t go well for you. This developer has raised the subscription fee for the app by 1000%. Yes that’s right, 1000%. ONE........THOUSAND..........PERCENT......... Was $5 annually, now it’s $50. That wasn’t the deal when I paid $10 for just the app alone. There are other ways to get this data, and the accuracy of the data in the app is questionable to begin with. To be fair the developer is very good about addressing any concerns within the app and the product is very well laid out, but even still it feels like I have been stolen from by this guy which is ironic for a crime app.

Excellent crime mapping app. Wow. I’ve tried other crime map apps and this one is the best. It’s not free but you get what you pay for. Simple to use. Highly recommend it for local or out of town travel.

Get the Citizen App. This is a pay app that does not have half of the services & features of its free competitors. Not as user friendly either.

Not for drivers..... I use my phone horizontally when driving, and this app doesn't allow landscape mode. The interface is not suited towards driving for quick operation. No indication of the neighborhood or even city name!

Useless!!!. Cancelling subscription. Can’t believe I paid $15.00 only to have to make ANOTHER purchase in the app. What a rip-off! I was expecting to see specific crime locations and type of crime.

Doesn’t work. I got this today, signed up, they sent me the code, I put the code then all I get is error messages and pop ups. Disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend. If you can’t even signup, how is it suppose to “help” or “save” your life.

Doesnt work. I typed that in the zipcode if my town (11951) and it said the crime was zero. I onow for a fact that crime isn’t zero since 20 cars got stolen in the past 2 months
