No money to spend? Skip this one.. This was a fun game to play. I’ve been playing for years. Recent changes have been made that are marginalizing players who don’t spend money on the game, making it harder to be competitive in tournaments and fun events with good prizes. You get free cards and boosters, it’s true, and if you’re just doing the in game story quests, it’s ok; but competitively, you’ll be behind the curve of many other players. There is also no limit to the number of mythic and higher level cards per deck, these are the heavy hitters; there have been a few matches where if I had not been first, I wouldn’t have had any turns at all. My kids (who love the idea of the game) get frustrated with constantly losing or having to try to make competitive decks with what we have that they’ve given up. I’m right behind them. Too bad. We never expected to be the best, we just expected a good time. Edit: you can see from their response to my review exactly how much they care about long term players who can no longer spend money on the game. Tech support is not relevant.

Game play and boosters. Can not get my 2 hour free booster anymore. Game crashes constantly. Have reset app, reset phone, updated app, made sure phone was updated. Again reset app, reset phone and still nothing. As previous reviews AI has become too difficult to beat. Never giving me playable mana in my color for whichever planes walker I choose. I’ve spent over a month trying to upgrade my planeswalkers levels and still no change. It seems my AI opponent always gets a windfall of mana with extra turns yet my turns never end up with 3-6 mana catches. While they get 15-30 and continually raise their combat levels. I can barely run 1-2 planes walker spells per game. Am starting to get very bored with the game and if it doesn’t change I will be deleting it soon.

Pluses and minuses. I’ve been playing this game for about two years. I’ve never spent a dime (not that I haven’t been tempted to) but staying the course allowed me to build up a decent deck and I’ve won more than lost. The challenge of battling while also playing match-three is right up my alley. I have thoroughly enjoyed this game. Unfortunately with the new Ixalan update I now get a win about once out of every 8 games. I’ve noticed that the AI has changed and gives numerous cascades to the game and I am frequently left with one match-three that is not my primary or even secondary colors. What used to be a nice way to get a match or two in during my 15 minute breaks has become a back and forth battle of 30 minutes for one match, and I still lose. I also have stopped getting new cards in both the two hour booster and from my daily log ins. Again, I haven’t paid for anything, so it’s not like I’ve collected all of the available cards - as of this writing I have 805 of the available 1636. Now, I am a little more willing to understand this change because that’s what the Booster Building tool is for, but my odds of getting at least one new card should be in my favor. When opening my free daily-login booster of 15 cards the other day I got nothing new. Still, it’s a good game. I won’t be paying anything and I’m going to eventually build my deck. It just appears it’s going to be a slow go.

A good game but unfortunately worthless. First things first: DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY ON THIS GAME. I haven’t spent a dime of my own money on it, and I eventually reached a point where you cannot advance any further. They only let you level up your characters to a certain point and eventually you reach opponents who are completely overpowered. Spending money will only get you there faster. It would be nice if you got the sense that the makers of this actually gave thought to the people playing the game and providing those players with a fun time, but I imagine those developers only care about the $$. Play this game, sure, but know that eventually you will want to stop playing because the fun and sense of achievement you get from getting past THIS or THAT opponent will be replaced by a sense of impossibility and pointlessness. And let me make this point one more time: DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THIS GAME.

Been playing 3+ years. So I've played this game since just after it was released and I still enjoy the mechanics of all the cards. Creature, spell, and support cards have very interesting effects and pairing effects. What I appreciate is the way it looks: some things are shiny, some glow, some sparkle and the artwork is very high quality. I have earned and occasionally paid for exclusive cards, a few mythics, a few masterpieces but mostly just playing the game has easily earned the majority of the decks and upgrades I've earned. I haven't tried the vip yet as it was just added over a month since it became available when I wrote this. Obviously if you can and are willing to pay an app directly you can expect the best rewards, if not the road ahead is longer for sure. I don't really have anything I'd complain about except sometimes during a battle, I slide open my deck, try to move one up or down and it occasionally gets stuck for quite a few minutes. Some days I'm patient and the card eventually becomes free again, other days after 10 minutes I quit my battle, which it allows, but then I loose everything that battle would have earned. I don't know that to be a symptom of any other app so I'm guessing it's a programming glitch but I'm no tech savant. Thank you developers!

My go-to mobile game. This game has been my reliable relaxation game for years now. It is easy to pick up and fairly challenging. It does have its issues. My biggest complaint would be the amount of cards drawn from booster packs. It just doesn’t feel right. No Pack should be less than 5 cards, I’m my opinion. It’s more realistic. And it honestly gets annoying with the amount of repeat card drops. There should be a guaranteed chance of getting at least one unowned card in every pack, at least. I’ve been a vip monthly subscriber for a few years now. It’s honestly the best value I’ve seen in any mobile game. I choose to go for it because the basic package at least gets you the packs of guaranteed new cards, weekly. Before you play this game BE WARNED. Add new cards come out, you will run into game breaking loops in people’s decks. But the devs are really good about starting up to date with hot fixes. And they actively listen to our community. Look out for any deck that uses OMNISCIENCE. You’re welcome XD.

Could be great, but crappy engine and luck based progression hold it back.. The good: variety of magic cards, fairly faithful representation of them in the game. Interesting Match3 mechanics with the cards, variety of deck strategies at higher levels of play. The bad: This runs on the same crappy engine that D3 uses in MarvelPuzzleQuest, so expect memory leaks & game crashes at the worst times, wiping out a winning match and rewards, wasting your heal potions (I won a big match today, then the app crashed after the fight just before the rewards came in, of course restarting it assumed a loss for me). Card progression system is luck based, so be prepared to shell out money or play forever to get your perfect decks. UI is terrible... just awful. Customer service is non-existent... I imagine they learned their lesson from MPQ and decided against community interaction. Great as a fun distraction, just don't get too sucked in or attached, it's not worth your sanity.

Could be better, passes time. I’ve played the card game since revised.. I get the card mechanics and such are altered to fit the puzzle quest format, and I’ve accepted it. There are a few things that stand out a lot. First, is when I do save up enough gold to get premium packs with a bonus rare, it doesn’t make sense that I can open 5 packs with a bonus rare - and end up with two rares total afterwards and some are garbage... but at 3 packs for $10 in the real world I get three rares and more... here I have to spend $15 on 5 packs and can end up with 1 guaranteed - where actual cards have resale value... haven’t decided to go vip yet as I’m fairly certain the prices will not be anywhere near realistic. So I hate to say it is a cash cow... but it definitely feels like it. I would suggest spending elsewhere..

The chain reaction decks are becoming ridiculous. I’ve loved the game and still love the game, but now that I’m running on platinum level, I have begun to run into decks that have seemingly infinite cycling chain reactions. I don’t mind losing… but what’s ridiculous is the ten minutes of card play after card play, with multiple reactions triggering one after another, seemingly to infinity. I actually timed a turn that lasted ten minutes (when one of the chain reactions finally stopped, I still had over 100 life points, but the cpu player had six extra swaps to go, so that turn wasn’t going to end) when I decided to finally concede and quit, just so I could actually play the game again. It would seem to make sense that some of these decks set ups should have limits on the amount of times they can trigger per turn, if for no other reason that the games don’t last forever. Even if I had the cards to construct such decks, I’d become bored very quickly to watch my turn last that long. As I’ve said, I still generally enjoy the game, and I’ve spent more money on it than I’d like to admit. But it’s frustrating to have to bail on a game because the turns sometimes last so long I feel compelled to quit or put the phone down and walk away a while. Just my two cents.

Cool twist on a legendary card game!. This is a solid game! The rounds/matches are pretty quick. The story isn’t amazing but will keep you interested. And while the game has enough content to be very in-depth/complex, it has been done in a way that everyone can play with little to no knowledge of the “Original Trading Card Game - Circa 1993.” While this phone/digital version has little to do with the structure of the trading card game; It does utilize many of the original paper cards. They have done their due diligence on finding good through legendary cards from its trading card decks. Also just as the traditional card game, this new twisted version has an incredible amount of cards to collect and they are still working hard at making new decks every few weeks. If you like puzzle games like “Candy Crush” you’ll have the skills to get you started in this Role Playing World; If you also know some things from the trading card game, you’ll be above average at this version. Overall a very solid game. That can be played just about anywhere without being stuck trying to finish a level before you can stop. But do beware, you can quickly be drawn in to this fun/artsy/whimsical/somewhat scary world of “M-TG!”

Good game, but.... This is a great game. It’s fun, challenging, and worthy of spending a good chunk of time on. However, it has its downsides. The most prominent problem as of the time of this review is the insanely low chance of getting anything rare or above, and masterpieces are just out of the question. I’ve saved up the crystals to purchase countless premium packs of standard sets, only to have the one rare card in the whole pack to be the guaranteed rare that is included when you purchase that pack. Not to mention, 50% of the time, that ONE rare card you get is a duplicate. That is, of course, unless you pay to play, which I just don’t have the funds for. Anyway, another major problem since the Ixalan update is the crashing. The app crashes after maybe 10 minutes of play, and then goes into a seemingly endless loop of title screen-crash-reset, until I do a hard reset of my phone. This is a problem. These are the two biggest ones for me. Overall, this is a great game that I’ve been playing since launch, and I understand problems arise with each new version iteration. Hopefully they get taken care of soon! Other than that, keep up the good work devs!

Fun but frustrating. I love the game...when it works. I have an iPhone 6s, and according to the developer, my device is supported. However, it crashes CONSTANTLY. I mean since the update to War, I can restart clean from a crash and go straight to a match, and I would estimate I have about a 1 in 4 or 5 chance of being able to play through to win or lose. Mostly I will “lose” because the game will lock up and crash, costing me the time, potions, and charges on the limited events. I have played for a while and have a good collection, and I have overall enjoyed it, which is the only reason I am giving it 3 stars. Historically it would be 5 stars, but right now it’s so frustrating it’s worth more like -2 stars. Eventually I will get a new phone and maybe then I can enjoy it again, but I feel like it shouldn’t be that way. At least admit it doesn’t work on older phones if that’s the case.

Repaired and improved. Maybe. *Update. It’s working again. Its a fun game. Compensation for down time. 100 gold thingys. About the weakest gesture possible... You totally owe us paying customers way more than that for being completely broken for two days. I collect my free boosters 3 times a day... thanks... perhaps it’s time to cancel the vip membership in exchange...as a similar gesture... When many games go down for updates and/or become broken after an update, the developers give you free stuff. Free gems. Free cards. Free perks etc. and so far I’ve seen nothing for compensation and the game has been 100% unplayable for about 48hrs. I can’t even sign in. Change your practices and take care of your customers. Don’t take advantage of them. It’s a simple business model to follow. We should get all the card packs we missed during this downtime including all daily rewards and you should be giving additional compensation for your inadequate development and coding team.

Love the game, just make it fair like the card game. Hi there, I’ve been a long time MTG player and fan, and I love this concept of the game. I also love the rewards system you have in place. It keeps the game fresh and urges one to try new combinations all the time. The only thing that bothers me is that there is no restriction on the amount of mythic or masterpiece cards one can have in a deck. Why is this not a thing? That’s a rule in the card game because otherwise the people with the most money will just unfairly dominate, and I’ve experienced this multiple times now on the app. It’s really unfair for someone to be trying to raise their tier by using cards to “master” them and come across a deck that has six masterpiece/mythic cards in it and the game ends in under two minutes. What’s the point to me trying new cards now? There’s no competition or strategy, just pay to get the best cards and win, which this game takes pride on claiming not to be, and it wasn’t for a long time which is why I play. Maybe have an events that are for people who have/want to play masterpiece/mythic heavy decks? I implore you to implement a rule on having only one, maybe two masterpiece/mythic cards in a deck so the playing field evens out for all of us who love your game, but maybe don’t have the lineup to dump into it all the time to stock up on those amazing cards. Thanks for your consideration.

Entertaining match 3. I played this a while ago, and they somehow lost my account. I’m not sure why, but recently, they finally managed to fix things, and my account magically (no pun intended) reappeared. I feel like I am a bit behind, as mechanics and things changed some, but it’s still a fun game. My biggest complaint is the pinkish purple magic crystals are impossible to acquire, and only get you one card at a time, not even a pack. You have better odds just saving 300 yellow crystals and opening a pack. My other complaint is most mythic and masterpieces aren’t worth it at all. I consider myself to have a pretty good success rate (despite repeated draws of the same card, but that is a separate issue.) and I use maybe 2 cards that are mythic tier. In fact, some of the most useful cards are commons, or uncommon. I have worked hard to save up to get packs that have mythics, but so. Few are worth anything, it feels pretty unrewarding. I play this because it’s match 3, and to pass time, but it could be a lot better.

Deep puzzle game. I’ve played this game for years. How have I not reviewed it already? It’s remarkably, impressively deep for a F2P game. Not as deep as its namesake, but still, the different kinds of decks you can build, the kind of combos you can find, is really impressive. And the bulk of the gameplay (once you get past the story mode which is effectively a tutorial) is PvP, so you get to see the cool decks everyone else came up with too. One star off for two reasons: One is that there are some annoying glitches that they seem not to want to fix, most notably the fact that some older cards don’t behave correctly around newer ones. (Old “destroy a support” cards not hitting Vanguards because they were coded before Vanguards existed, for instance). The other is that the previous review I’m seeing is right. There is a pay to win component. Mythic and Masterpiece cards are straight-up better than other cards, and they’re hard to get for free. I’ve never paid a penny, and I have a few, but sometimes I get destroyed by a deck that is clearly someone who spent a bunch of money.

Fun but sometimes very frustrating.. This game is usually a blast to play. The match gem mechanics work very well when mixed with the magic the gathering strategy. I’ve greatly enjoyed playing..... most of the time. The flaw in the onintment comes from the, sometimes, seemingly rigged cascade mechanics involving new gems falling into the board and immediately clearing out. When the AI is getting 30 to 40 manna a turn, 3 to 5 turns in a row, well it seems slightly outside pure random chance. Btw that happened to me in 3 separate games today out of about 15 games played. Once or twice I wouldn’t mind. I know I’ve enjoyed the benefits of a good cascade myself a few times and the AI should enjoy the same benefits of luck. On the other hand when the AI summons two 16+ mana cost creatures on turn 1 then reinforces them both on turn 2 (doubling their stats) while at the same time pulling off their planeswalkers ability and you end up facing an 18/18 and a 24/28 creature on turn 2..... there is not much you can do. Oh and on turn 3 his first creature becomes unblockable, not that it mattered.

Great game!. I’ve been a fan of MtG for a very long time, much more than a decade. And I’ve always liked the PuzzleQuest series of games, starting with the very first one PuzzleQuest. This game is an incredibly clever mix of deck-building of MtG and match-3 gameplay (with powers, progression and a huge variety of opponents) of PuzzleQuest. I am impressed how well the developers managed to mix these two genres in such a non-intimidating and interesting way. Unfortunately the deck-building aspect is seriously bogged down by the usual mobile market monetization shenanigans. It is sometimes so hard to obtain new cards that it becomes discouraging to go on. But that is just the way the market is, I guess. P.S. What’s the opposite of “quality of life” change? Well... I have launched the game after several months of inactivity and to my utter shock found that the neat 5 colored spheres that indicate which color you have already won with, are seemingly gone! How am I supposed to keep track of which colors are left? This is either a mistake (hopefully) or someone on the team decided that it would be a great idea to get rid of them, which is baffling to me if that’s the case. Anyway, I hope this quality of life feature will return ASAP.

Freezing and lagging and getting booted out. This game so far is great. Still trying to figure it out. They def need to create a newbie section on their forums to help explain some of the stuff, but being new, I am enjoying it. A lot to still figure out and once I do I will get even more into it then I already am. If your looking for a game that's interesting and new to learn, give it a try. It's still in beginning stages and under development so be patient, but you won't regret dlin it and giving it a go. Although it gives options to "purchase" the crystals to buy boosters and cards, you don't have too if you just keep playing. I love it!

Fun but still needs some work. I’ve been playing this game for over a year now and have noticed some great changes (rewards for events, boosters contain a good mix of common - mythic, and boaster crafting), but there are two main things wrong with the game that stand out to me. 1. There are times where I’ll be grinding out a match in an event that only has (for sake of argument) 4 open slots until the slots renew (every “x” amount of hours) and the app will crash, resulting in the use of a slot and the loss of a match. This can be frustrating but I will admit, it has gotten better with time and updates. 2. Booster crafting. This is really frustrating to me because I have “purchased” multiple 300 gold crystal booster bundles, and the duplicate cards show that they are being converted to crafting points or whatever they’re called. However, when I go to craft a rare or mythic that I need/want with said points, they are nowhere to be found... I got the bundles with the knowledge that I would get duplicates, and those duplicates would convert to points that I could use to get what I need, but there seems to be an issue in the coding regarding this. If these two issues would be addressed in the next update or two then I would give this game a 5/5 stars, because in all honesty, it’s the only game I find challenging and fun enough to play for this loge, AND also has the Magic lore with it. I trust it will get better but for now I would give it 3/5

Excellent, but w/Issues. You absolutely CAN play the game—and play it well—for free. Anyone saying otherwise really just isn’t very good at it or just expects no challenge. The gameplay is simple and fluid, the strategies varied. You WILL face bugs and crashes. You WILL have days that feel as if every opponent has the nastiest deck you could face. You WILL want to give up. I promise it gets better. My advice is this: ask for advice in online forums, and take it all. Then work out what your style of play is and use the advice that suits it best. Build a strategy for yourself so you can tell everyone else, including me, that we are full of it because you know yourself best.

A Clever Trap. Before I get into the problems, I will admit- this is a beautiful and fun game to play. The Puzzle Quest game actually works really well, and harmonizes with the play elements of Magic seamlessly. That being said, I hadn’t gotten past the opening chapter before I saw this game for what it is... This is one of the worst offenders of Play-To-Win I’ve ever come across. For one- the rate at which you level up is just behind the rate that opponents grow in difficulty. Forcing the player to either pay for new cards or grind at a mind-numbing rate to get the XP. Secondly, the gems that the computer selects are stacked in their favor. Each move the computer made it was earning mana at 2-3x the rate I was on my best plays. It’s a shame that a really fun and well-built game is not-so-subtly hidden behind the veil of greed and player manipulation.

Terrific overall game. I have been playing this game for a couple of years and waited to give this review. Overall, the game is a lot of fun. The mechanics are ever changing as new expansions come out just like the table top card game. The card mechanics are different to their counterparts in the CCG version but it is still a lot of fun. They have a variety of daily events to play as an individual and then weekend games which include teams (coalitions) of 20 where you can enjoy individual and team rewards. The coalitions are what you put into them; you can have a lot of fun playing with and learning from your teammates. Like any game or app there are technical issues from time to time and sometimes Murphy’s Law decides that the issues are when you are in a battle and it can get frustrating; but overall a minor blemish. The customer support is very good and they communicate game updates and ticket status extreme well. Overall, a very nice and fun game.

Going Back to Better. When I first started playing this game it was very well balanced and a lot of fun to play. Then there were some updates to balance the game that, unfortunately, ruined some of the mechanics. I recently downloaded the game again and started playing it out again. I am happy to see that the game has improved upon some of the better features I remembered from when I first played. The cards are better equipped to build a good deck and the compatibility between the mechanics of the cards and planeswalker abilities have improved as well. The only downside I have found so far is that every so often (usually when you have won a fair amount), the AI will tilt the game in its favor by depriving you of just enough mana, or give itself a ridiculous cascade of mana or give you a hand of cards, not one of them creatures. Overall, the game itself is worth playing if you are a fan of either MtG or Puzzle Quest. Keep up the good work, devs!

Not bad but balance/matchmaking issues. This game solo wise isn’t bad if you don’t ever play against another player. The problems come in when you try any player vs player situation. There are levels to your characters that it will match you against people FAR higher level (literally 30+ more HP than you with strong abilities and better cards) Yes AI controls those but because of the totally random nature of the matching game plus random card draw these power differences make it a total crapshoot on if you will have any ability to win. You’re basically playing “hope you got matched against someone weaker!” To be fair I’d say the microtransaction stuff isn’t too bad. It is a CCG so you know what you’re getting in to here, the original big daddies of microtransaction sand constant buying. I can’t really recommend this as trying to play in any of their little events just isn’t fun since you will just be CRUSHED by the matchmaking. Not to mention heaven forbid you don’t play for a bit and then you’re also behind on the latest and greatest cards (but that’s a CCG thing so you know that’ll make you lose anyway).

Great fame destroyed by lame cash grab. I’ve been playing this game pretty hard core for six months. Mostly F2P but every now and then I spend a few bucks on a pack. Then all of a sudden they introduce this outrageous new membership plan that, I kid you not, costs more than a freaking new console over a year. I could buy a new Xbox for crying out loud, and this game -while fun-is really problematic. Slowwwwww to load, lots of freezing and bugs, not much interactivity for friends or coalition mates. So much potential but it seems like they have one and a half coders working on this. I get that they need to make money but If they would just charge me $30 I’d pay it! This stupid membership model is a big fail. My coalition mates are openly talking about whether we should find something else to do. Not sure I’d recommend you sink in at this point if you’re new. Building a deck will be a real drag under the new scheme.

STILL no reason to ever spend a dime. I last checked in with this one over a year ago. In that time they have added a lot of cards to the game. There are some interesting deck possibilities now. However, this is still one of the greediest games around. Things cost way too much ($40 US for 30 cards is a SPECIAL offer) and you aren't guaranteed to get even a single card you can use. They really need to change how card distribution works in this game (no duplicates any more would be great since you only ever need one copy of each card) or there is really no reason to ever spend/waste a single penny in here. Also customer service is horrible. I received no rewards for two friends invited to the game, and it took a week of constant back and forth (with them asking for screenshots) before they finally gave me HALF of what I should have gotten.

Don’t Get Sucked In. I have played this game from its initial release with Origins. I have quit playing 4 times when the creators make the game harder and harder. The AI on this game is crazy. You can NEVER get mana unless you put your own convert cards in the decks. And you still watch the AI cascade match after match getting 40-50 mana per turn and you get 3 planeswalker gems. I wish I was exaggerating. Once again I am quitting this game. Every time I come back in hopes that they have eased up on the insanity of the AI and find that it is worse than before. I am in the top 15 in my coalition. I have spent the money, I have the cards. Still absolutely no fun to play when I am swearing at my phone. Get a grip creators. And if you’re new, and need magic, hopefully they will soon put arena on portable devices. Or go to your local store and play. This game is just too hard. And if you say cascades can happen on either side. You haven’t played your own game recently. Not only do you control the cascade, you have somehow found a way to make converting up to 10 gems of the same color gain zero mana. Also your match suggestions are more to benefit the AI than the player.

Wish there were more like this one!. By far the best iPad/tablet game app I’ve ever played...u would think it’s just another jewel match game but it’s faaaaar from it! This game has a lot of versatility combined with strategy and some awesome battling...I can get bored with anything that is easily figured out because of the monotony but this game has sooooo much that goes into each battle that you need to know that it’s gonna take me a while to get bored with it,if that’s even possible lol! Also I’d like to mention that customer support is awesome as well, they are as prompt as they can be when answering and/or correcting any discrepancies which was and is much appreciated! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Plagued with many bugs. This game is very involved with different decks of cards and abilities and it seems like no matter how many times I report a bug it never gets fixed. There’s a whole discord channel I’m on in my group and there’s a whole section dedicated to bugs and what to avoid. I was very into the game and spent probably close to over $100 in the few months I’ve played. I’ll never spend another penny on this game. I spent money to get planeswalkers and a couple of them have bugs that basically make you quit a game because of a soft crash that doesn’t allow you to ply any further. I have 20 planeswalkers and can’t use 3-4 of them because of bugs. There’s soooo many cards that are also bugged. I’m extremely close to pulling the plug on this game. The devs do work diligently to put out a good game but have failed to address bugs for many things still. My advice, don’t spend money on the game. It’s far from worth it.

Fun, with minor issues. I had picked up this game when it first came out, and played a little bit before putting it down until a couple of months ago. Since then, I’ve been playing almost every day. I appreciate that there are tons of ways to earn the in game currency by competing in events and playing story mode. My biggest complaint is that I wish there were a way to craft specific cards. The booster crafting system is neat, but I hate the feeling that I’m going and spending 1000 or more hard earned orbs to have a 1:35 chance of getting the specific card I want. It might even make me more likely to spend money on gems if there were a way to guarantee I can get a card I need to finish off a deck. The fact that I’ve put many hours into this game over the past several months, and haven’t even filled out a beginner precon is testament to that issue.

Entertaining if flawed. It’s a fun time waster and I’ve put quite a few hours — and even a little money — into it. Ultimately, however, it is marred by the randomness of play. Good game design involves one and only one random element. A player can strategize around one unknown. But when there are two or more completely random elements in play, any effective strategy becomes impossible. Oh, you can get runs of good luck that present the illusion you are employing an effective strategy, but it’s just that: an illusion. Eventually your luck runs out and you get slapped in the face with fact that you really have no control over how the match plays out. The saving grace in this case is that the game is single player only (the AI controls decks built by other players). As such, when you get a run of bad luck, just quit and restart the match. After a while, though, it all starts to feel rather pointless. But you can get many hours of fun out of it before you reach that point, so I do recommend you give it a try.

Bug ridden and sluggish play. I have been a fan of Magic the Gathering for a long time. I was a fan of this game when I first began, but the more cards and mechanics they add the slower and more bugged this game becomes. You will lose event matches because of bugs and crashes and you need to win perfects to get the best rewards. If you are not lucky enough to be able to screen shot the crash then the Devs will not even consider compensation if they do at all. Response is usually thank you for the notification we are aware of the problem and working on it. Do you get compensation for their error? Nope you get screwed into worse prize tiers instead. Two years ago I would recommend this game. Today I say move on to something else, not worth the effort it takes.

Love the game , I wish it had a couple of balance tweaks though. I love the game and played the card game for quite some time , I love how much stuff is handed out (crystals and the like) that allow you to get planeswalkers if you save up or get a new card pack every couple of days. I do wish that there was restrictions on masterpieces and mythical though. I find it annoying when are some decks that are just built with only the most broken cards , making it impossible to pull off a win. Still love the game though~

Don’t get sucked in. This game is definitely pay to win. The “random” algorithm used for card acquisition though packs (wether earned or purchased) is complete trash. I don’t know how many times I’ve spent $10, $20 or even $30 in real money only to get 90% duplicates. It’s very frustrating. Sometimes you’ll get duplicates in the same pack. Open a pack of 5 cards and 3 will be the same common card you already have. The developers say the booster crafting feature fixes this, but the proportions are off. Say you get a duplicate Mythic, that’s worth 500 booster crafting points but it takes 5000 in order to craft a new mythic. Just a money sink. If you thought paper magic was frustrating.. This app says, “here, hold my beer.”

Absolute Trash. Where to begin? lets start off with the fact that you don’t actually control your creature cards in the battlefield. They act completely on their own. You don’t get to chose if the attack the opponent or the opponents creatures. All the pop ups during the tutorial and the cards you draw and effects and spells that are cast only stay on the screen for literally one second. It make it so you can’t even read them to keep up with what is happening during the battle. This game was so horrible it was a chore to even want to play past the three battle tutorial. Although it only took me about fifteen minutes to complete the tutorial, I want that fifteen minutes of my life back. The only relation or commonality this game has to Magic the Gathering is it’s title. Please don’t do as I did and waste time downloading and playing this game, keep the precious fifteen minutes of your life.

Too expensive to enjoy. If you want access to all material, it will cost you as much as actual MTG. All planeswalker (not even mentioning the cards) will cost you more than $300 to purchase. You could grind out the crystals, but who has 6 months to spend exclusively playing this app? Other issues include an imbalanced system (the game is unfair to you unless you spend money on it), confusing screen navigation (find the deck builder, go ahead, try), and a HORRIBLE system of explaining abilities. Want to review what those symbols on cards mean? Spend 10 hours playing through each of the expansion tutorials. They’ve made this into a puzzle quest version of magic the gathering. That seems self explanatory until you realize they’ve migrated the same purchasing scheme as mtg: buying $200 booster boxes so you can build a competitive standard deck. The names have changed, but everything feels the same. But hey, it makes nice sounds!

Ups outweigh the downs. I’ve been playing MtGPQ since December 2015. I’ve seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Currently the game is in the middle. The devs who took over last year have done great work fixing critical bugs and catching up the content, however like all games there are still many things to be fixed. I’m going to be honest, it’s a bit hard to get going. Utilize the forums for great guides and helpful players. Find a coalition that takes new players and participate in events — this will get you the cards and currency you need to advance. The game offers unique and challenging content for new players, mid level and veterans and allows you to commit as much or as little as you want. It’s worth putting a few weeks into before you give up because it’s fun, addictive and offers new and interesting challenges.

Other players and a pay to win structure ruin this game. Like MtG? Which part of it? If your answer is infinite combos and making your opponent concede, this game might be for you. Similar in spirit in this regard, once you exhaust the PvE content mtg puzzle quest offers, you will quickly run into a pay wall that other players create by using “Masterpiece” cards like Blue Sun’s Zenith and Omniscience. When used together with a number of other cards, these Masterpieces allow players to build decks that are relatively unbeatable. To combat the fact that some decks can wind up taking infinite turns, the devs implemented a loop timer, but it’s a laughable measure that takes at least 3 minutes of watching your opponent spam all 10 cards in their deck before it finally kicks in. The worst part is that, because of the way mana is generated, it’s frequently possible for these decks to go off on turn one.

Pay to Win. The only reason I’m giving MTG puzzle quest three stars is because it’s a pay to win game. Beyond that, for the people who pay it’s really expensive. The best pack of cards you can buy is worth 280 in game currency (about $15 US dollars) and gives you 5 packs, 25 cards total (mostly commons and uncommons) with a bonus guaranteed rare (which can end up being a duplicate). I can’t help but compare it to mtg tcg. A pack of cards costs $4-5 US dollars and you receive 15 cards including a guaranteed rare/mythic, and three uncommons. It’s a shame really; this game has some deep strategy that I can respect and enjoy, but if you want to compete, you have to pay the man. I wish games were more about letting players enjoy the game to it’s full extent, rather than fill the owners’ pockets to their full extent.

Extreme monetization. The game itself is really fun however the dubious ways the publisher tries to separate players from their money makes me really, really dislike it. While buying real MTG cards will also yield at least one rare or better card per pack not so with this one. You can easily spend $30 on card packs and not get a single unique valuable card such as a rare or mythic. How is that? You’ll get lots of duplicates of cards you already own. And most typical packs don’t guarantee higher rarities at all. For example, I’ve barely owned any cards of certain sets and when I opened 15+ new packs in each I got nearly all commons and uncommons of cards I already owned. And multiple dupes of the one rare I already owned. This has happened so many times for me. Yes, dupes get you material to craft missing cards but the material needed is very high (poor conversion rate) AND any cards you craft will be completely random in that sets. So you probably will never get what you want unless you spend thousands of dollars and get thousands of dupes. Just stick to actual MTG or Arena. Your money will be far better spent. I really regret giving this greedy company a single dime. Whoever designed this monetization should be forced to walk across LEGO bricks barefooted for every step, every day of their lives and eternally in the afterlife. SHAME!

good core, rebalancing needed. This game has a lot going for it, including great card art, a variety of events, and planeswalkers with abilities distinct enough that they really do play differently. There has been so much content added, though, that unexpected interactions have arisen. It’s possible to set up unending cycles of matches and card drawing. It’s nice that there are plenty of card decks to choose from, but the developers need to take a break from adding even more cards and rebalance some of the ones already available. When it’s possible for an opponent to get up to 15 free swaps and take a 20+ minute turn, it’s time for me to get out. I did have some fun, though, and with careful work by the developers other people could too.

Cheap money grab now. I loved this game up until this latest update. It had a good and sustainable F2P model for a long time. But I guess t wasn’t profitable now, so they’ve introduced a monthly subscription based VIP system. You wanna know how much the top tier costs? $30/mo!! Outrageous!! That’s more than virtually any MMO with a ton of content charges! Now this would have been acceptable and easy to ignore if it wasn’t for the fact they removed so much of the F2P aspect thy made the game viable if you didn’t want to pay. They removed all the Rising Tensions events which made it possible for F2P users to acquire premium currency pink gems and mythic cards. And on top of that the drop rates on the free boosters was greatly nerfed. The likelihood of drawing a rare card dropped from 21% to 5%. A mythic dropped from 5% to 1% and a masterpiece from 1% to .07% Corporate greed wins again 👎

Beautiful Game. I love MtG and this game certainly does it justice blending the match 3 and card game styles. The ridiculous masterpiece mythic spam and other things can almost always be over come with good enough deck building nowadays, and the rewards system is very, well, rewarding! The constant updates are very welcome as well, 200 cards a year plus all of the quality of life, bug fixes, subtle tweaks, new mechanics, rewards, and events you guys introduce- most games can hardly manage to do one of those! The only issue I’ve ever had is the cascade AI getting 30-40 mana a turn for an entire game, but even that is severely helped by the fast regeneration of health potions and good deck building (I’ve turned around a game where the AI got their signature mythic card out twice in two turns along with their whole hand by simply out-pacing their one card per turn afterwards). In conclusion, great game that is improving week by week, so keep up the good work! You guys should be proud.

Download this game!. I’m giving this app 5 stars because I want people to keep downloading and playing so that I can keep playing as well! Because I really enjoy this game! However, that being said, I have recently run into a couple issues that will hopefully be resolved by the support team. The support team has been very responsive and helpful so far! The issues I’m having are 1. I was playing a match and after winning was given an error message and then a loading screen that said “fetching coalition data” and it never loaded. Then once it finally did after I closed the app and reopened(30 min later) it counted my match as a loss and I did not receive the rewards. 2. Playing the event “Hour of Revelation” I am unable to play on of the planeswalker slots available because it won’t load my opponent for the match. I’ve tried closing and opening, even deleting and redownloading the app and it still won’t load my opponent for the match.

Buggy. For at least a year, my account is frozen. I delete the game after trying to get past the vault screen, and then download and try again. Monthly. When I open the app, it takes a few minutes to load data. Once loaded, it brings me to a pop up screen saying I can collect a vault reward for completing the tutorial, forces me to enter the vault screen, and then says for me to hit claim on my rewards...there is a bouncing arrow over an empty box with dashed outlines. There is no box or words within the outline. I have tapped every millimeter of my screen to avoid entering the vault from the pop up as well as within the vault pop up. If I could only claim my prize, then I could use the UI. As it stands, I am locked out of the UI being forced into a dead end popup for the vault. I am tired of redownloading this game over and over again to see if this has been fixed. It appears there have been many updates on this game, so it must just be my account and bad luck. I can’t find mention of this bug in the app support or reviews. Unfortunately, I’ll download this game next month and rebuild my frustration, as I am an avid magic fanatic.

I’ve never seen a game that cheats more than this one. Why is it that card games that use the computer as the second player always feel the need to cheat?!? This game is one of the worst at it. The computer regularly gives itself multiple massive matches multiple times a game while the real player is ever barely allowed to match 3 gems of their planeswalker’s color. It is absolutely amazing how almost every computer deck (“apparently” all made by “real players”) seems to have all the same game breaking rare, mythic, & masterpiece cards while I can only ever pull copies of the same 3 or 4 rare cards. I’m sure it’s “purely coincidental”. And the abilities of the computer during events are GROSSLY over powered, usually to the point of being ridiculously game breaking. So, if you like games that are programmed to go out of their way to cheat in favor of the computer & just royally screw over the player base then this is definitely the game for you. If I could give this game a negative rating I most definitely would.

Awesome game. Though it could use more stuff.. So I absolutely love this game. My husband got me hooked on it. The Gameplay mechanics, plainswalkers, and card sets are awesome. Here’s my only qualm or qualms with the game: there needs to be more added to story mode. All there is is origins and the eldrazi storyline. I’m sorry, I’d like to play all the other storylines as well instead of just having card packs released for them. Like for instance I’d love to see story modes for shadows over innistrad and theros and all the others. The training section is just that, it’s a training area. No lore or anything. Granted you can go online for lore. I’d want the other story missions to play out like the origin’s section. A lot of people in the community have already beaten the story content and like myself, have to rely on events for content. So yeah, love the game and stuff.

Pretty fun game, but could be better. First of all this games is a blast and I really enjoy playing it. There are a few areas that have room for improvement. The game does a poor job of explaining things. For example, I just purchased a double sided planeswalkers, but I can only use one side of its abilities. There weren’t any clues or explanations about how to activate the second side. Also, when a support card is used it disappears and we no longer see it anymore on both sides. It would be nice to actually see what support my opponent used rather than having it flash across the screen for 2.7 seconds and it’s a paragraph long. Also, why is it that my planeswalkers cap at 60, but the games planeswalkers literally are at like level 118?!? This makes zero sense.

Entertaining Concept. When I initially began playing this game I was unsure about how I felt about the rules and overall gameplay. After playing for approximately 1 hour; a consolidation of multiple days playing this game that total 1 hour, I have somewhat become happy with the concept as a whole. There’s definitely some area that need work, a couple of aspects that should be changed entirely, and the addition of a few key aspects from the in-person card game. If some changes were made, this would actually be a very good game. I’m leaning closer to 3.5 stars. However, because this game definitely does not deserve 3 stars, I feel that 4 stars is appropriate. I very well may return and change my rating to 5 stars if the next couple updates include gameplay changes that the fans, myself included, enjoy. Thanks for an interesting game!

Love this game!. Great mix of gem matching and magic themes. Sharing it with all my friends!

Good concept. Pretty good game to pass the time although would rather just straight up magic no candy crush

Why the ling wait????. I like this game and keep coming back to it....but you are forced to wait ridiculously long periods between matches if your energy runs out in events, current event is 7 or 8 hours...1/2 the time your asleep the other 1/2 your waiting for energy to play again....stupid

Not a friendly game nor a MTG style game. This game allows combo over 20 sec and over 10 cards drawn from the opponent. Combo should be allowed under the control of a human player, while cut quickly when is in charge.

Crash and burn. Whilst this game is pretty fun, the gold packs are amongst some of the most expensive I've ever seen and the amount of bugs and crashes, which effect your rewards and waste your time and in game energy, are appalling. Crashes at the worst of times constantly. If they fixed these issues it could be 5 stars.

Great game but has bugs. Really enjoy this spin on Magic, but the consistent bugs, particularly in longer duels, are very frustrating. Most commonly it just gets stuck when selecting a target, but there’s several others. Also bugs out when the AI plays an infinite combo in that the AI really does just play the combo infinitely! Game has a turn meter, but several times I’ve run it down when it’s bugged and it does nothing. Fix the bugs and this gets 5 stars from me.

Fun but unfinished / heavily bugged game. This game has clearly been rushed and released without much testing. The prizes in the majority of cases haven't been programmed properly with most of the time it not awarding the prize when you have completed the achievement. The game has potential and is fun if you can look past some fairly glaring bugs.

Great game. With the current update, missing text has been fixed and added tutorial steps/text adds better explanation to the game play.

Awesome little gem game!. Took a little adjusting to from playing magic but love it! Great concept for short sharp magic battles when you don’t have time for a long one. :) Needs more login save support options like google account linking, linked to Facebook, switched devices, deactivated Facebook, lost my game on both devices, was only at the beginning but if I’d paid for things I’d be angry. Should keep a local save copy of cloud content as well.

Extremely slow & frequent crashing. Game is supposed to be compatible with version 9 & later. Playing on my 9.3.5 ipad it is incredibly slow and crashes so frequently that it's not worth it.

I like it but...... Great time filler, just wish the cards didn't flash up so fast so I could read them

No game progression. After a while, the Ai level out scales you too much. Only pvp left, but pvp is also Ai (predictable) and the rewards are tiny, worst of all, the ladder players are also Ai who are designed to be one step ahead of you so you will always be number 2 or 3. Everything is a setup. That's why there's no communication with other players. For a big company like magic the gathering and puzzle quest, this is really disappointing. Don't get it

Great game!!. Awesome game and great game play. Addictive style of play with a lot of the mechanics from the card game. Only suggestion would be an increase of amount of different cards you can use in a deck.

Great f2p, best mtg game out there on ios. For sure its thr best mtg game you can find on the appstore... until magic arena comes im sure. But this game is really fun and addicting. No need to spend money on it as you cam get a lot of free boosters easely.

Somethings gone wrong with last update. Like the game, quick to play, understand may not be as complexed as other magic games but I like it, or I did to last update, in pvp mode now very unbalanced, you can go away and make a cup of tea and your opponent will still be matching gems, then you get ago and you are lucky if you get 5 mana. It could be a bit like this before update but you could still win with good play. Work it out please wizard of the cost I like the game

Don't Waste Your Time (Or Money). Imbalanced, underdeveloped and poorly designed game. Still feels like beta months into release. Cards are absurdly expensive and non-pay to win methods of earning packs are painfully slow and grindy, with the ability to recycle entirely useless duplicates into new cards (even at a poor efficiency) being nonexistent. Several features of the app are 'coming soon' (ie non-functional).

Me. Cool

Poorly made but great concept. Things pop up on the screen too fast for you tor and and the starting tutorial kind of pushes you through without explaining much, you mostly just stumble through it. There’s no backstory or lore to introduce characters or what you’re doing in the big (or even small) picture. You just get thrown in, math things and then move onto another fight without much guidance.

Magic : Loading. Whatever anything you want to do, you must suffer a loading, even quit a match. And the loading speed is so slow. You should definitely fire the guy who presented such a terrible framework.

Recommend to all your friends. I had played MTGPQ for quite some time now and can say that even after countless times I put the game down I always pick it back up. The fast paced game of puzzle and combat is some of the best with the various mechanics that make magic what it is and how they translate in puzzle quest has made me love the game even more.

Hmmm. Could do with a more thorough tutorial.

Magic the crashing. The last couple of updates had increased the instability, but this one has perfected the problem. It won't even load anymore. Well done. I presume the next upgrade will stop the icon from displaying - hang on, I can implement that feature myself... And unlike the game, that works.

Magic!. Fantastic crossover to puzzle solver... Almost as good as sitting round the table with cards in your hands.

Good gameplay but laggy and buggy. There are heaps of bugs, game crashes and it's really laggy. Needs a few more releases before we will see a polished version. However it's still playable and a decent game.

Good but not great, yet.. The overall game is good, a mix of candy crush and an card rpg. There appears to be an issue with the deck builder or its just me, I found that very difficult to navigate.

Great fun. It's a good game with regular updates. Would be happier with a few cheaper options but still a great game

Awesome game but..... Before I go to play a "quick match" it shows me that the health of my character is full, then when i get into a game it shows me that he has 0 health and I die on the next turn. Fix this health number problem please, other then that this game is very enjoyable and fun to play :) P.S you might want to change rewards for beating people online for a bit higher and bots in story mode a bit easier. Thank you.

Fun. It's a great game that is incredibly enjoyable to play. For someone who hates gem games this is really good. The only thing I have against it is the fact that computers always get combo gem rolls, it's annoying and impossible to fight against.

Old but still good!. Hadn’t played MTG since I was a teenager but I wasn’t bad and it was always fun. Now I’m nearly 40 I can’t conscionably go to my local comic shop and whoop the arses of numerous 14 y/o geekboys so I searched for a game for the phone. And I’ve enjoyed it immensely. I get frustrated waiting for spell upon spell upon spell to be cast sometimes esp when I know it’ll kill me but otherwise gameplay is smooth, events are varied and I enjoy the challenges playing with certain types of decks or using particular cards that I wouldn’t normally be attracted to and learning how to master them. Coalition play has been frustrating though - I’m not one for forums etc so finding it hard to join a decent and ACTIVE coalition. Thanks for helping while away many, MANY hours MTG:Puzzle Quest!!!

Awesome but buggy. The blend and complexity is great, many of people’s complaints are just stylistic things because there are heaps of different things to enjoy. Getting involved in a big discord community like The Power 9 helps. It is soooo buggy right now though... The new developers are great but need more support and resources from D3Go who have great community managers but extremely abusive management who mentally hurt their staff, customers and business partners. The VIP stuff starting is expected, most games do this, but the price is way way overboard. Top level is $50 a month Oz money, that’s insane. That’s the price for AAA game with 80 hours of story. Here there is zero new content. The game needs money sure, but the business people here are actually outright stupid. They are morons. Hardly anyone will pay this and it makes bad press too, fail fail. Halve the prices and more people will pay and less will complain. Introducing VIP is a necessary business decision, the price is a stupid business decision by failed business people who have no connection to their clients in they slightest. D3go needs to fire every business person they have and take the owners out of decision making completely. The community managers could run the entire company better but they are ignored by their brutal abusive horrific idiots of bosses.

Constant network connection required. No 'local play' option available (100% of the time you must be connected to the internet) and no option to skip tutorial. The game lost me within two minutes to those key issues. What animations I did see are really nice and the use of sublime MTG art is always welcome. There is potential here for a solid puzzle quest. Just let it develop a bit more.

Fun!. Cool unorthodox way to play magic but it seems to work! Great time killer!

Wait and see. This app was released way too early. Calling it a beta release would be an insult to other beta releases, this is an alpha release at best. The game may be worth playing after it is fixed, but for now it is an embarrassment to the Awesome Magic the Gathering franchise, I am surprised Wizards of the Coast allow their logo to be used for this app.

Unfair Advantage. This game shows a lot of promise. However, it gets really frustrating when you only get one thing to line up with no combos following. Then the NPC and has their turn and low and behold they get combo after combo and have a full army and spells before you even get a chance to blink. I like the concept, just needs a fairer AI put in place to be great.

Update. After latest update game freezes after battle at Objectives screen

Great game. Great fun and addictive, still has a few bugs to sort out. You can miss out on some rewards with certain bugs

Great game. This is a good new spin on magic, quite different in many ways, but challenging and still contains the same great creative art work and ideas. Very happy and impressed! Thank you developers.

But buggy but otherwise fun. I enjoy this game a lot, an interesting mix of magic and bejewelled however needs some fixes to stop it bugging out and restarting

"Loading" way too often. The game has too many moments when it loads and it takes too long to load as well. The AI takes forever to take its turn quite often also. If the game were much more refined optimised, then I think I'd enjoy it more.

Cool concept. I like the look and feel of it. Could become addictive. I think a bit more documentation on what all the cards are would benefit the game. Sometimes I had no idea what the AI was doing to me. Still exciting to play

Great game. This game puts an exciting spin on the match 3 formula. The artwork is great, the rewards system is fair and the variety of cards makes it interesting. I would recommend you get this game if you enjoy mtg or any of the myriad match 3 fantasy battle games out there.

Fun but crashes too much. Would have been 5 stars if it didn’t crash multiple times a day during battles.

I love it. Great game, it's only glitched on me once. The only complaint I have is that it's a bit slow (but I'm pretty impatient). Thumbs up from me.

Simply brilliant. A really simple and fun way to enjoy Magic the gathering. Would definitely recommend to people who love the card game. Good if you don't have a lot of time on your hands but still want to sink into the 'Magic' universe(s)

Needs to be cheaper. Great game I enjoy it but if the price for buying more gems in the game would be lower it'll be a five star game for me, just a suggestion

Glitchy. A glitch after completing the tutorial means I can’t play at all. It says I need to claim my pack, but the claim button is hidden and can’t be accessed. No idea if the game is any good

Too many crashes!. It's a good game, an interesting twist on the 3-match games more reminiscent of the classic and eternal 'Puzzle Quest'. The only problem is it constantly crashes! Always towards the end of a battle which means you automatically lose, and start back on 0 health. Happens every 4-5 battles so be prepared for pleasure and pain.

Love the game.. Plain and simple, just love the game. New stuff gets added to the game all the time, ie: New card Sets and Plains walkers. Art work is beautiful, which satisfies the collective side of me. Game play has never been a problem, always smooth. My only gripe would is, when I first started playing MTG, the events back then, were more pvp orientated. I miss that soooo much. Players would fight tooth and nail, right up to the final seconds of the event. I wish that was still a thing. And now that I think more about things, I do have one other gripe, which is the reason I didn’t give 5*. Is the fact you have to pay with yellow crystals to get into some of the events. So not a fan of that at all and haven’t competed in any of those events at all. Why is it Developers feel the need to want more and more from the players? Isn’t playing your game, supporting you with a purchase here and there enough? Please reconsider this new practise! Regards, Angeliqué

Nothing like Magic. I love Magic: The Gathering and I thought it looked cool that there was finally a new developer taking over from the appalling Stainless Games. Unfortunately, this is worse, Magic: The Gathering is loved for it's deep complexity and intuitive gameplay but this is simply Candy Crush with a Magic theme. Almost every action (outside the Candy Crush which is 90% of the game) is done for you so you have no control over the game. This is an offensive joke to Magic players and offers a boring and badly designed game. Step it up Wizards (of the Coast).

Awesome game!. Takes a bit of time to learn the ropes, but you'll understand how it works soon enough, and can really formulate strategies well then.

Very poor tech. It’s ashamed to see a crash at the end of a match and no point granted for winning. This happened way too often. You will spend a lot of time for nothing, and never get close to full collection. Also crashes in deck building, which is very annoying, especially after latest update. Every time new card set are added, new bugs are added. I don’t see other app crashes that often. They don’t know how to test the app or even then don’t test the app at all. —————— Things even get worse. Almost unplayable, want my time back.

Crash. Since the uptade it’s always long open the app , start game in event, buying product and editing deck. I am using a Iphone 7

Been playing since day 1. Candy crush meets MTG, what’s not to be obsessed about??

Since the update. I’m happy to say that now I can’t even finish a match cause if there is more than one chain it almost always crashes! Just what I want out of a puzzle game, waiting to see how many times my ai opponent crashes the game one turn before I would win. But hey the added a pay to enter vip element so thats good right?

Holiday Knight Disappeared!. Collected holiday knight but then it immediately disappeared! Please fix, thank you.

Update v.2.6.0. I rarely write a review for any games, but now i have played this game for a year and a half, and gotta say i am loving it! Like any games i have had some issues but, the assistance team always helped out and even went out of their way giving me some in game rewards for inconvenience. The game interface is great once your used to it, it becomes very fluid and easy to control. Building decks is very hard since getting cards is very random, and there are many expansion packs, i did not spent a penny on this game and i am doing all right but to play every Planeswalkers is not always an easy task considering the way you get cards. Need stronger decks to win against stronger decks in main events to get the few rare cards you want. Use to have the capacity to forge your cards in game, but now you need a membership to get the unique cards wich is a big turnoff. Overall great game for killing time but 2 main flaws no offline mode, and this new monthly membership that for an average player is becoming a necessity to progress in gaining better cards within the game😢

Intéressant. Jeux intéressant mais pour les néophytes de Magic comme moi le tutoriel laisse à désirer. Ça fini qu’on ne fait des alignements de couleur comme les autres jeux style candy crush

Great addictive game. I never leave reviews but this is a boss azz game 4 real. Even steamed it live on twitch tv. Few glitches here n there which can get annoying but nothing major. I would highly suggest adding a screenshot and or deck linking option to the chat section which would make this game truly top notch and WAY more interactive! 9/10 over all though love this game!

Will not log in. This new update has made it so you can’t sign in. Very upset. Great game but if it not crashing it’s not allowing you to log in

buggy. has potential but crash every time a start a game. I don’t recommend the 3.3.1 version.

More than expected. Fun game. Different set up but entertaining

I might of ran into a glitch or a hack. I was facing sirRaggi as his life totale was 0 for 5 turns nothing on the board was making him stay alive when I try close the match it wouldn’t let me

Really bad freezes recently. Please fix the resent freezes. Freezes are most common with “ob nixilis” but I’ve had the game freeze with most characters have to quite and lose progress when it happens, usually when I’m winning. Otherwise a great game

Janky and pay to win. On emulator or on phone this game is really slow and crash very often. The drop rate on mythic cards is atrocious and not only that but the mythic cards are very op. It will keep making you go against opponents that pay their mythic cards, this is pay to win.

Crashes. Poop game always crashes when playing people that’s a much higher level then I am and freezes when winning. This game is always taking wins from me. Poop game...

Problem since update?. I did the update today and I’m no longer to connect to the game...

Amazing. Dp3a has created the best matching games platforms the App Store has to offer, keep up the good work

Amazing but so slow loading. I would be addicted to this game if it didn't take so long to load...

Crash city. Since the latest update the game crashes one minute into a duel or while playing in Story Mode. Using iPhone 6 Plus. Boo!

Game freezes ruin the game. This app used to be top notch, but since the last update the game randomly freezes. As part of the game, you compete in coalitions, so the game freezes impact them too. Send messages to customer support and get form letters telling you that they will send your concern to the developer. But you never hear back. Brutal.

Crashes a lot. Keeps randomly crashing every other games.

Got issues. Fun implementation with two major problems. 1 - runs slow on my older phone, and crashes constantly. Like, after every match and occasionally during. It’s still more or less playable and I still play it, but probably won’t keep doing so for long. 2 - the menus are mostly huge, eye-bleeding microtransaction ads. They make me feel gross. Tacky stuff.

Poor Game. The computer players are so overloaded, it's discouraging. The AI players are rigged and clearly favor them when it comes to matching tiles. It's so frustrating that I've resisted throwing the iPad across the room several times when an seemingly impossible win by the computer comes from nowhere.

Crashing mess.. With the last update the game crashes mid fight. Good luck getting a decent rank when you lose all your attempts to crashes.

Returned years later and it’s just gotten better. I played this on release and loved it then. Got out and started a month ago and feel in love all over again. The tutorials are super easy and fun for starting off or getting back in and catching up on all the new mechanics for the new releases. Story mode is interesting and a fun way to test out decks as well as always giving you a challenge you can overcome. PVP match ups are really good and I feel like I am fighting people who have the same level of skill. The only thing I can see someone argue is the micro transactions but I think because it’s based off a CCG I feel less annoyed by it. I have spent much less on this then I ever spend on actual magic and still have a great time and feel like I’m getting usable stuff.

Good, but has issues. Been playing since release. I’m a huge mtg fan and enjoy this game a lot, however pay to win is rampant and strongly supported by the Dev’s. I have never paid a dime and it took well over a year of consistent playing to ensure I had even a couple solid decks. There’s bugs and glitches, game crashes and freezing, but the core game play is fun and keeps me coming back.

Great game. Great game been playing off and on for years, let’s of events rewarding in game currency mean if you play regularly you don’t need to spend real money to get decent decks

New update. Game is great except new update war of the spark won’t load, keeps saying under maintenance, prior to that it would load but I couldn’t log into my Facebook account Tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and I get nothing now, not sure if your aware about the issue with the game

Good. Slow progress but fun overall.

Could be better. I love the game but it would be better if there were offline features as well as the loading screen to open the game didn’t take so long

Fun!!!. Really fun to play!

CM. The magic of life!

Wonderful but slow loading.... I am, admittedly, hooked on the game. It’s a brilliant idea for those of us ol’ MTG players that need a quick fix. Have to say, though, it feels like your server(s) are running on an old Dell desktop you got hooked up in the back room....

Crash. Salut depuis la dernière mise a jour le jeux chute en moins de 1 minute sur I pad. Rien a dire de plus

Buggy. This is a great addictive game, but.... please fix the crashing issues, I’m stuck on a loading screen in training grounds. Yesterday it it didn’t even recognize my account. Fix the lags, loading server issues or you will start losing players.

Crash, Freeze, Boom. Can’t finish a round against opponents when the game crashes. Log back in and I have lost all health, have to wait to regenerate. Happens too often to count. When I switch screens to view another app, then open back up, Have to log back in and lost game. Not wanting to play as often, it’s too bad.

Dont do it. Play another game.. I dont write reviews when the game pushes you within the first few days. It allows me to get into the game a bit, and well, I did, and constant it shows constant freezing, cant complete the latter part of the tutorial due to quests not recognizing completion thus you cant progress further. These are reported bugs from other reviews from months ago. Just dont do it.

One of the best games on App Store. This game is in my top 3 games in the App Store... been playing since the start...

Can’t stop playing, but.... I’m absolutely in love with this game and play religiously. My only complaint is how frequently the game has been crashing lately while playing through the story. Gets frustrating after a while... apart from that, loads of fun!

Won’t even load after the last update. Enjoyed the game up until the last update. Once it was finished downloading the game hasn’t worked since.

Pretty awesome.. I have been playing this game off and on for just over a year. Never had to spend a penny and you get a great variety of cards. There is always the option to buy the odd pack, but the game doesn’t feel like you must in order to progress. A few cards bug from time to time and I have had the app crash a bunch. But, the gameplay and variety of the game keeps me coming back for more. If you love creating strategies and exploring the multitude of play styles, this game gives that to you in abundance. Smartly designed and very challenging. This is game for people who love to test their intellect.

Super!. Jeux bien balancé. La variété des décès est incroyable.

CRASHES SO MUCH. This game would be fun if it didn’t ALWAYS CRASH!

Game crash a lot. The game quit almost every match

Keeps getting worse. More and more glitches and broken cards each update. It seems like every problem they fix, two new problems pop up. Also just went through 30+ booster packs of the newest set without a single rare or mythic card. Booster packs odds have NEVER accurately represented actual drop rates. Not even close.

Very good. Really good game for those who want to feel powerful. However, the game sometimes freezes and leaves you no other option than to surrender. It doesn't occur often, but enough times to rob you from 1st place on half of the competitive events.

Stupid "auto help" mechanic ruins the game. The game is really great but there's this really annoying "feature" where if you take more than a few seconds to make a move the game highlights a possible move for you. I find it super aggravating and it sucks all the fun out of the experience when the game automatically plays itself for you. The worst part is you can't turn this annoying "help" off! Deleted it after a few games because it felt like I wasn't even playing a game.

Just stated. Great so far

Magic. D&D by matching 3 a cool card war lots to learn and e poorest. Love it

-100/10 on a NASCAR scale. -100 for all the freezes NASCAR for all the crashes Horribly frustrating game. Download only recommended to masochists.

The worst parts of Magic without the good parts. Think about anything you hate about Magic and there is probably plenty of that while anything you like about Magic is probably absent or minimal. This game is hilariously poorly monetized even for a loot box phone game. If you get a text or a call, don’t answer it until your match ends cause 30sec out of the app you have to restart it and you lose the game and lose whatever energy/current you used to start it. I signed up for an event that was going to end soon and how to play it was so confusing that I gave up. After giving up I looked at the ladder by accident and saw that signing up but not participating put me in the top 150 on the ladder. I never even tried pvp after that cause no one plays this game it seems.

Small issue. The system had a glitch recently that wouldn’t allow me to log in. Had to research how to get in contact with them. After a day or so and several e-mails back and forth finally found the solution was to delete the app and reinstall. I appreciated the help but there was nothing done about content missed for the 2 days I couldn’t log in. I’m happy to have it fixed, just thought maybe they would have done something for the loss.

Really excellent, free to play. It's really one of the best free games I have seen, even without making in-app purchases I am completely viable in tournaments against other players. I have played a few magic the gathering digital games and this has amazingly few bugs and exploits which when they existed were very short lived. Little bummed about the free boosters going from 3 pack every 8 hours to 1 every 2 hours, I usually only get to play twice a day for about an hour so I get less boosters now but still an excellent game

Great basic design but shoddy dev/QA and card balancing make this just a sad missed opportunity. I have been playing over four years. The concept and mechanics of this game is one of the very best I have seen for the mobile format. All the elements are there to be the best in class. But the constant bugs and crashes which seem to rarely get better and more often worse with each patch make me constantly want to quit this game. The fact that hangs and crashes always mean an automatic loss make them way more frustrating. And more and more they put out unbalanced “I win” cards to chase the whale’s

Great Game. Even though it can get buggy at times, it really is a terrific game. The concept, design, and MtG connection will get you hooked in from the beginning. If you can’t win as a free-to-play player, then you probably aren’t very good at strategy games. You can win consistently without spending money. In the beginning, it can be tricky to understand and navigate the various play options—story mode, events, etc. Get help on the forums when you need it. Stick with it! You’ll be glad you did.

Badly developed. WoTC should be embarrassed to license this game. The developers keep implementing “features” that do nothing but not allow you to play or have fun. They claim you have pvp, but the ai plays the opponents deck...you do not actually play against another person. Your turn can’t take to long or they end your turn and everything stops casting and nothing triggers. There are game breaking bugs the\at freeze the app and cost you games/points/rewards and all you get is a thank you for reporting this to us. You get to play a round of an event every 4-8 hours. 1 round! The developer is concerned more with implementing pay features than fixing their broken bug filled game where players would be happy to spend money on a game that worked. The ONLY good thing about this game is the magic the gathering ip.

Infinite turn. Great overall game, unless you come across people using the infinite turn deck combos. There should be some sort of limit out on the amount of cards able to be cast per turn. People use Tamiyo and green gem conversion spells along with “stitch in time”, usually lead min avenger and some sort of draw mechanic to generate infinite draws, mana and then damage from the avenger. Completely takes the other player out of the game. That’s the only thing wrong with this game.

Best time killer during the Coronavirus Quarantine. Magic is my favorite card game and I’ve been dying for a good app game to come out on iOS fitness I’ve tried all the other magic games out there but this is the best by far. It truly is a great game, smooth moving the artwork is gorgeous and it’s well-balanced, the story is spot on there’s so much strategy to it but you’ll never get bored with this it’s the next best thing since N95 Masks and toilet paper.

Loving it!. As a MTG player and fan I love this game. All of the cards being available from the sets along with older cards and innovative takes on things like planeswalkers are awesome! Also love the daily login and events. Story mode is fun but I wish it was more immersive or did more with new sets outside of the card training. Lastly I wish the new sets would hit it quicker. Like Core 20 would be awesome to play with now that we are almost to a new set release (2 weeks away). But again I love this game and look forward to continued growth and innovation for a fun take on MTG

Fixes. 1. Y’all need to fix the AI so it has to do its turn in the same order as the actually player. It’s irritating that the AI can get gem matches then use its Planes walker abilities. 2. The AI gets WAY to many massive gem matches. I’ve played several games where the AI matches 3 gems and that cascades into 30-40 mana. Either up the chances it happens for the player or reduce the chance it happens for the AI. 3. The rewards (gem and rune) are much to low for the work you have to do to get them. Upgrade the Gem rewards for winning with all 5 Planeswalkers to 15 or 20 and the runes another 20-30%. When y’all do that y’all will get 5 stars.

Fun game. Been playing for two months and haven't been disappointed yet. There are so many cards to collect and build decks around I'll be playing for awhile. I haven't reached a point were I've felt I had to pay to advance. With the daily log in bonus, which gives booster packs and in game currency, events and some patience you could get every thing in the game. I recommend trying it if you like Magic and match three.

Good but constantly crashes.. I love the game but since the update it has been crashing a lot lately. It a little more fair and stuff but idk why every 2 hours and yes I have timed it every two hours it constantly makes me relog in and crashes after every 4 hours. Please find what’s causing this cause I love this game but I don’t want to lose progress in events from the constant crashing

Fun MTG alternative. Want to play some Magic but don’t have time for a full game? This is a great alternative: you get the cards and planeswalkers you love but with a unique twist in that they require different strategies & combinations. Plus most games are pretty short, so you don’t have to commit a lot of time if you don’t want to. And it’s fairly easy to build up your collection without spending a cent - which is a huge plus compared to traditional Magic.

Devs don’t seem to play their own game. I ‘m half convinced this game is run by a skeleton crew. New events are few and far between and new releases are always delayed with the actual release of the cards. As if the devs didn’t even have access to the cards until after the official release. Events are also clearly on an automatic timer of sorts. The Throne of Eldraine event was rereleased today but they locked the event to only standard rotation cards. Problem is Throne of Eldraine is no longer standard making half the event impossible to complete. Honestly the game is fun but I cannot recommend anyone investing time or money into it considering how dead it feels.

Long term game. Played Magic: The Gathering as a child. At 35 I still nerd out pretty hard with this game. Takes time to build your card collection. Decks are 10 cards. Plenty of challenges to earn in game currency to purchase more card packs and God’s with special abilities. If you loved the game as a child, you’ll find this will last through multiple cell phones and other cell phone games as they pass.

Utter ripoff. I’ve been playing M:PQ for a while, and while the base gameplay is fine, the Mtx model is borderline criminal. I didn’t mind spending money on the game, until I was completely ripped off by a recent purchase. In three packs, 12 of the 15 cards acquired were exactly the same. I reached out to the devs and explained the situation, and was told the issue would be investigated. Months went by, and no further response was offered. I asked again about this situation, but was ignored. The devs do not care in the least about you, and will do everything in their power to scam you.

Bug Fix Ever Coming?. Update: Developer responded. Hoping to get this nonsense fixed. Superb game, I just can't take rebooting multiple times a day any more. Please fix the bug that prevents users from deleting the full deck using the trashcan icon in the top-left of the deck edit. Rebooting the app multiple times a day to counter it has become a severe nuisance. It has been over a year. Please bump it up the list. I'm begging you at this point. The trashcan selection should work. Every time. Why is the bug still present? Seriously... Begging!

I liked it. I’m a magic fan boy and had to give this a try but I uninstalled not because I was bored but because I was tired of the sub par mechanics along with no nostalgia bait worth my time or effort. First off, the color for mountains and plains is WAY too similar, especially when you’re doing good and it’s no big deal but when I make that mistake 3-4 times per game, it’s frustrating. Also there’s no old generations, at least at the start, definitely need to incorporate everything from magic or your alienate certain fans who have money ready and waiting for there’s favorite generation.

Last update made this unplayable. This used to be my favorite game ... until the Ravnica Allegiance update. Since then, it’s become unplayable. The game crashes and closes in over 50% of my matches, and almost as often during deck building. This is particularly frustrating in Alliance events or other PVP events with a limited number of rounds, because you lose out on ranking. It’s gotten so bad that my Alliance is threatening to kick me out because I can’t put up points. I don’t know what it’s taking the developer so long to fix this known issue, which so greatly impacts gameplay.

Great but needs some improvement. I love the game but some of the planes walkers have +7 bonuses which is nearly impossible to compete with. Also I recently have beat an encounter to 100% expecting that it would yield a card or something. I’d like to see if you beat the 12 or 15 battles accomplishing all of the challenges available that there be a really nice prize because it was not easy and you really have to tailor your deck to accomplish some of these challenges.

Great card/gem match combo game. Combination of both Gem match and card game, best of both worlds. I will be honest, when the game was first available, the customer service was not that good. That has changed, the customer service has greatly improved. An example was purchasing an Elite Pack, I received a duplicate Mythic in both of my Elite Pack draws. The customer service was nice enough to replace my duplicate Mythic card with an additional draw. New card expansion sets are always being released.

Garbage. If you like having a game constantly rigged against you, well step right in! If you are immensely excited about have a opponent deck go on constant cascades where you only get your first turn before losing the game , then this is for you. If you enjoy having your level 15 planeswalker consistently pitted against level 60 opponents while you’re trying to level up , well let the fun abound! I come back to this game every 4-6 months just to remind myself why I stopped playing it. This game is trash from a fairness and balancing standpoint. If you’re not willing to shell out hundreds of dollars to buy your way to victory then move on.

It’s ok. I do think the game is fun but I would still like to see some things added. Like the choosing of a lower tier if you are struggling in an event. I’ve recently tried the jump start event. I felt at first it was going to be an ok event. Until I fought the green plainswalker in it. I look everywhere on how he got his creatures up so fast in power and how he got to keep hexproof on that same creature and found nothing. That runaway creature caused me to loose the battle very early into the battle. I see no time limit on when I can try again. I want the final reward but I don’t see any way to get it if I keep having to fight this guy with what feels like an unfair deck.

Keeps crashing after matches (and sometimes during). I really like this game and I think that it is a really fun twist on MtG, but a few days after I got it on my iPhone 6 it kept crashing on me after matches, and on rare occasion during my matches, causing me to sometimes not get my rewards or to have my planeswalkers be at zero health. Sometimes when it crashes after the match, it would also think that the fight hadn’t happened at all and I would have to redo it! Although it is the only flaw I have noticed in a really good game.

An abortion inside a dumpster fire wrapped in a used enema hose.. I would give this “game” a zero stars if it was possible. A crime against humanity. A public apology for this dumpster fire is only the beginning of what is needed to start to make amends for this failed abolition. EA considered this fecal stain as an example of how to monetize games but realized it was actually a crime and created the Battle Front 2 model instead. The RNG is so blatantly weighted in favor of the AI it’s pathetic and disgusting. The AI will always have multiple advantages in matches available. The AI will almost always get multiple follow on or cascading matches each round. The AI will be given multiple extra turns each round. The game will change matches mid drop to ensure that the player does not get a cascade or follow on. The programing is so jancky and poorly optimized that you can actually watch the game change gem colors as it happens. “Customer Service” is nothing more than a basic bot that has 2-3 responses that will simply close out your request without forwarding it or taking any action to make corrections or changes. Avoid this game like a plague infected hooker.

This game has broken for my phone and will not play. I liked this game a lot, however after one game in after not playing it for months, my opponent starts their second turn and the app just crashes, I lose my game and my excitement to talk up slash spend money one your game which I spent a lot of, which is a disappointment. I feel the simple answer will be your iPhone is outdated as I use an iPhone six, but it would be nice to hear an acknowledgement about my situation. Thank you so much, Alex.

Pay to play. Was obsessed with this game and it had a five star rating after an hour of play. Now, a week later I deleted it. It’s just a typical cash grab with so much potential. It’s fun, but SOOO grindy. You can play MANY matches and barely get any rewards, no usable cards and if you want a planeswalker of any merit, you have to play for literally weeks to get anything worth while. I was in forums and everything and, the consensus is that if you are a free to play person, you can gather a lot in the game. The downside is it will literally take months and months to have even a low-tier collection to compete with. Greed at its finest. I’d actually spend some money if it wasn’t so overpriced on top of it.

Magic dose in covid times. I cant play mtg in person, and the online version is a little too strict with time for me. This gives magic a fun(sometimes) gacha twist. I think its perfectly playable f2p I’m just addicted to opening packs. Starting out going through ALL of the tutorials is a bit of a drag but free cards are free cards after all. I do wish there were more legacy events but other than I dont have any complaints that make the game a deal breaker for me.

Best game. This may be the best phone game I’ve ever played. It’s super simple, and yet requires strategy in using your cards properly and crafting decks. They make the deck-building simple enough by limiting you to 10 cards, but still give you plenty of room for strategy and creativity. Incredible game. Cons: Very luck-based at times, and the AI always seems to have far better luck than you. Can be annoying.

Very fun experience, with a few bugs. Overall very much enjoyed this game. Flavor and feel remains pretty faithful to the card game and they do a great job adapting the mechanics of a card game to the “match 3” type puzzle game. There are a few bugs here and there, but not enough to detract from an overall positive experience. Some of the bugs involve cards/abilities that don’t work as intended, or less often, cause the game to crash. That said, the team is usually good about fixing bugs in their software updates.

Good Game but, Fix the AI. While I love puzzle games and still do find enjoyment in this game, I don’t know how long that will remain with how much the AI cheats. We as the player only get one swap and hope for chains, I’ve watched the opponent switch another gem in he middle of their own chain to increase it more. The AI loves to cheat and for new players that is just hard to get past. I know it left me trapped around the Separatist Voidmage in the origins chapter 1 for nearly three days. So yeah, fun enough game if you have the patience to deal with an AI that will just cheat out of nowhere when you were doing ok.

Error ridden goofy concept. The awful game is apparent with the intro. It shows how to match cards, but doesn’t really show how to play. You have to figure it out on your own. Gameplay is very much dependent upon luck, if you get big Bejeweled-like drops, or if your three remains a three. Cards merge to be more powerful instead of dropping two different troops, so if you get behind the opponent with a Transformer-like Devastator from the old days, you just have to quit. Now I get multiple errors at startup and during the game after each match and when getting the two hour free cards. Utterly disappointing from a game I’ve played over 20 years

Magic all day. Game is fun and you feel involved, collecting new cards building up your plainwalker. Only thing I’ve noticed is the AI really gives it to you some times. You can go rounds without pulling a creature, or be on top by 40 points then get taken down in minutes. Don’t know if it’s cause I don’t buy anything in the game and I’ve just reached a point where they don’t let you go on without spending $$$. Still lots of fun and awesome creatures and spells!!

Awesome gameplay. Definitely leans heavy Pay-to-win. I don’t spend any $ to play, but I still enjoy this fun, fast-paced game. I’ve drawn enough free cards (+ a couple I purchased with earned crystals) to put together some good decks. I just wish with the hundreds of cards available, that they would provide more free cards to players just playing f2p because they enjoy the gameplay. I know the concept of producing an app with in-game purchases is to make a profit, but the more generous a game is when playing for free, the more willing to spend $ I am when I get deep into a game.

Great game, but..... ... very, VERY buggy. It crashes constantly, often during a battle. It’s incredibly frustrating to finally be doing well against a difficult opponent, only to have it reset at the last minute. Aside from that, however, this is a brilliant adaptation of the CCG game using the classic gem-match matrix. If it were more stable, it would be an easy five-star rating. It allows for slow but steady growth, and makes it worth it to spend money on it from time to time. I just wish it weren’t so glitchy....

Good game, not really Magic.. This is a fairly entertaining game, and I enjoy it a lot. It does crash quite a bit, and that’s annoying. However, it’s still fun, which is why I’m rating it 4/5. However, it’s not very much like MTG. It shares the same basic structure, but it is less about management of resources and more about how good your cards are, or how high you level is, or how good your abilities are. I would still recommend it, but it’s not really Magic: The Gathering.

MTG Puzzle Quest. Very solid game, even for a veteran of the original card game. A lot of fun and always an event to help you get more cards and keep you interested with new goals and challenges. Would have given it a 5 star rating but I feel that there could be a lot added to the game and the booster crafting could be either easier to achieve at the start or more rewarding, even though it’s still a very solid and fun game!!! I’d recommend to everyone interested in MTG.

If I could give it negative stars I would. This game is so one sided I have felt like throwing my phone. The game cheats because it knows exactly where to cascade the most gems so that it can pop out multiple cards at once while me the player can only match three gems and then sit and watch the ai go crazy. I’ve seen it draw and play the same card 3 times in a row and wipe me out so fast I was still spinning my head trying to figure out what just happened. First strike does not work like this in the paper game where one creature can attack and wipe out my whole board in one fell swoop and completely wreck my game and you expect me to spend money on this game? Well that most definitely is not going to happen.

Great all around experience. I’ll start with the only con; if you get disconnected from your internet or data source, you better believe your dual you are in will be automatically terminated, and you will have “forfeited” the match, which is something I’m highly disappointed in. Other than that... I’ve been playing for at least 5 months now and this is the only game I continue to mash. Keep the updates coming, I love the fast pace nature.

Amazing.. So when I was a kid I used to play magic with my brother tons of times, only with cards. The problem was keeping track of Mana, lifepoijts, spells, and often cheating. This game wraps most of that up, and adds a weird twist which makes it unique. My one problem is that throughout the story mode, the achievement "defenseless" remains red, even when I either add or remove a defender card from my deck. Other than that, this game is great and I look forward to any additional content.

Great game with frustrating flaw. A great match-3. The mechanics are not as deep as real MTG, but there is still a good amount of strategy. I rated this down because the game does not remember your progress during a match. If it crashes (which happens a bit too frequently) or you swap apps, your current match is an instant loss. Since many events give you a limited number of matches, this can cause you to go down in reward tier. Losing. A game that you clearly would have won, because the app crashed is not a fun experience, and it happens far too often. If the game could put me back in my match after restarting, the crashes would not bother me.

The %s for packs are no accurate. I’ve counted 30+ packs now in a row (not the 3 card free boosters) but the 5 card boosters you often win from reaching certain scores in events. Not a single rare for 30+ packs in a row. The % for rares in these packs is advertised at over 23%. You would think after 30 straight packs you’d get at least a few rares...nothing. I’m starting to think they will only give you rares or better if you buy them with in game currency or real $.

Fun Game. Pros: lots of updates, new cards, and ways to get them. You can play with one hand, and often pause games and come back to them later. Let’s me relive my love of Magic without the significant investment. Cons: rare and great cards are hilariously hard to get, but are often used against you. The app requires a persistent internet connection to perpetuate game play so you’re out of luck if you’re underground, out of signal or want to be offline.

I found a glitch. When I have Hallar, the Firefletcher and Murasa Ranger (both green) in play together, when I make Landfall the game freezes. Murasa Ranger is supposed to drain you of two mana and get +2/+2, and Hallar, the Firefletcher is supposed to get +1/+1 and deal two damage whenever a card drains you of mana. I presume the game hasn’t been updated to understand how to deal with this combo and I wish it would be soon... I’d like to see it in action. Otherwise, great game, no other complaints.

Glitchy game. I am getting tired of tour glitches. I keep playing special events and either get kicked out when I am about to win, which means a lose against me, or can’t even get in like with the Holiday Showdown. I current have four chances and the system will not let me in until the fifth chance pops up. This is irritating. Also the game is getting really unfair with certain cards in the training ground battles. These ridiculous cards that basically end the game after one turn make me not want to play anymore. Plus you have no in game contact function so I have to post my issues and complaints here.

Great game. This game is very fun and addictive especially if you like MTG. Building decks is very fun and trying to pull the slot machine to get the cards you want is like crack. The game used to crash pretty often, but they just released a patch and the problems are 99% fixed now. This is one of the few free games that you can actually make good progress in without spending money. If you like it and want to speed up your progression, the bundles are very reasonable for a game of this quality.

Too Expensive. Been using the app for over two years now. Had the VIP subscription twice after canceling it one. I have since cancelled it again due to several problems I have written to the developers. 1) unless you pay for the VIP subscription, the odds of getting new cards drops dramatically. 2) I quit purchasing packs because On several occasions I received duplicates of the same card in the same pack and very seldom would I get a new card. The packs are too expensive to allow this to happen. (Did seem one I reinstated my VIP account, I started getting more cards I did not own in packs I purchased. Not accusing, just bring up an observation.) 3) while playing it seems towards the end of the game the opponent would suddenly have the best cards available and win the game after a mediocre first two thirds. 4) the way the algorithms are written, the game is too expensive to play and be competitive. 5) will not take nicknames when a bad review is written. I tried asdrewfgh and I was told it was taken.

Great game but too many bugs. I really like this game. I play it a lot and have several high level decks and have invested a lot of time in it. The development of the planeswalkers and the challenge to get better and better decks are greatly addictive. What really lets the game down is the litany of bugs which causes the game to crash or freeze. This forces you to exit the game, lose that fight and suddenly you're no longer vying for the number one spot, your down at 10 or 20. They keep bringing out new content, new decks, new planeswalkers when what they should be doing is fixing it so the game play is rock solid. Only then should they build on this.

AI is broken, game is buggy, cards are overpowered. Something happened with the latest update and now it’s clear the game’s AI is way too overpowered, making tons of cascading matches on a regular basis, forcing constant quitting of unwinnable matches. Additionally there are probably a couple dozen or more cards that the pay to win players have that are just way too overpowered (see: Gaea’s Revenge). Until those two issues get fixed I can’t give it more than two stars, especially considering also the ridiculous amount of bugs that are introduced with EVERY update and the woeful nature of their customer “service”.

Good Updates. The game has changed for the better. I enjoy the booster crafting aspect. It was much needed and now I can have the chance to pinpoint my efforts to acquiring a card that i need for my collection. All of the dupes that i get are now worth it. New events would be awesome. I miss quick play a lot too. Sometimes the game lags and kicks me out. Hopefully one of these days it will be fixed. Great way to kill time though. Especially if you have some mythic rares or rares to build fun decks.
