A Word From A 14 Year Old .... Hello , ThrivePort . I’d like to start off by saying that the idea of this app is quite wonderful , considering the fact that my moods are slowly becoming more negative than positive , due to it being easier to aggravate and irritate me now and because of possible gender dysphoria . I got to get a peek of what the app was about , and so far , it’s calming . The issue I have with the app is the fact that I have to pay for a subscription , membership , premium , whatever fits . The thing is , I am only fourteen . On top of that , I personally have no money , nor a credit card that has money on it . I also don’t have my pay settings set up on my phone due to that , and — well I’m sure you see the problem . I would like it if ... we didn’t have to pay for a subscription . This is simply because I would like to improve my mood and make it so that I can lower my irritation tolerance a little everyday . That’s my personal opinion , of course , but I feel it would be best for people like me who are still young with parents who don’t really allow subscriptions for apps . Thank you for reading .

Writing really calls for an iPad version. I used this app pretty regularly a couple of years ago and found it to be helpful. I’m going to try to start using it again so I can supplement visits with my therapist. However, I’m not sure that I’ll keep up with it. I originally stopped using it because I started using my iPad as my primary “personal time” device (i.e., my phone generally stays plugged in and stationary in another room.) The iPad experience is painful for an app that relies heavily on text entry. Since there is no iPad version, you end up having to use the awkward iPhone simulation keyboard. I have a physical bluetooth keyboard case I would LOVE to use with this app (using it right now to write this review), but that would require me to do one of two things: 1) take the iPad out of the case and prop it up vertically 2) try to read the text sideways as I type. While I realize the effort to make an iPad version of an existing iPhone app is not zero, the functionality of this app is not so complex that I would imagine it taking an inordinate amount of time and effort.

Great for people with anxiety!. I have Asperger’s Syndrome and I’m very prone to anxiety, and this app allows me to write down how I’m feeling and work out any thinking errors. I think this could be a great app for autistic people who might otherwise have trouble identifying how they feel. It lets you adjust the face on the screen to be sad or happy and pick and choose from various emotion words, and more often than not I’ll find the right word for how I’m feeling. I obviously can’t speak for all autistic people, but in my experience this app is very helpful. Sometimes just writing how I feel helps me to feel better, even if it doesn’t change my situation. I especially like that it allows you to select more than one emotion (which many apps don’t), as well as the intensity of the emotion(s) you’re feeling. And then it lets you write down why you feel that way, and it takes you through some questions and prompts you to thinking about any thinking errors. And then it asks if your emotions have changed and lets you change the intensity of you feel different. Another cool thing is that it doesn’t make you complete every step. If you just don’t feel like it right now, you can just complete some of the steps. All in all, I really like this app. :)

Simple, quick, very helpful. First of all, you should check out Moodnotes and at least try it out to see how it feels/works for you. Things I love about Moodnotes: - they give you great suggestions for emotions you may be feeling, but don’t know the right word to describe - you can set reminders on the app to help you remember to check in on yourself - it gives you the option of adding more detail to your mood (I.e. opportunity to elaborate on what happened that made you feel that way) but it’s not required if you don’t want to/don’t have time. - THINKING TRAPS! Describes the thinking patterns that we, as humans, tend to get stuck in and then becomes a pattern. AND how to go about changing that thought pattern. +++ plus they have relevant articles on a variety of mental health topics so you can learn more about anything you’re going though or feeling. - lastly, your moods & mood notes are automatically tracked and displayed in a graph so that you can monitor how frequent or how much your mood is changing or not. It’s awesome 👍🏼👍🏼 2 thumbs up from me!

A great help. I’ve found Moodnotes to be a great help in helping me identify aspects of my day to day living that might contribute to changes in my mood. Mental illness has been a problem for me all my life and I’ve used many methods of journaling and tracking in an attempt to help myself. Moodnotes is just the right combination of therapeutic methods and mood journaling—the whole idea is for the app to be quick and succinct for easy and immediate reflection and relief. I have it programmed to remind me three times a day, and there’s no pressure if you miss an entry. It’s helped disarm a meltdown more than once by promoting a change in behavior instead of lengthy reflection that might trigger a mood spiral. I even mentioned it to my doctor during a routine visit and she noted it down to recommend it to her patients.

ACTUALLY based on science. I am so tired of downloading health and productivity apps that claim to be “based on science” when they are throwing that phrase around loosely. Young me probably wouldn’t have called psychology a science, but after ten years of struggling with chronic mental illness, I’ve come around. I have PTSD, and I’ve never been a big fan of therapy. I went for several years, mostly just to satisfy my friends and family, and I liked my therapist. But, I’m very introverted when it comes to my mental health, and trust is one of my major issues. So, finding a useful tool like this where I can keep my thoughts private is a godsend. I just started using this today, and I recognize much of the information from CBT, so I know it’s actually created by someone who is educated and truly cares, rather than just trying to make a buck. Plus, a lot of apps that claim to be for “mental health” are really just lifestyle or meditation apps, not fit for people with serious mental illness. I highly recommend that people go to therapy to get diagnosed if they are struggling (and not use an app), but for mental health maintenance, for those dealing with chronic problems, this is on a short list of useful tools.

An app that can save lives. You see I live in a very complicated city surrounded with much complicated culture that still see mental health as a taboo subject to be highlighted out load, luckily I’ve my friend who lives in a away cities whom advised me against going to see a psychiatrist within the city i live in giving how much of sharing could get me in trouble within the authority in here, I’ve done my research read a few books and i found this app, i said to myself lets just give it a try what would i lose after all this suffering talking to a machine is still a great option at least I won’t get in trouble, I know for sure in many cases of depression and anxiety a CPT techniques might not be enough so if you have the The privilege to see a psychiatrist please go for it while using this app it might help you to recover even more faster, I had to read so much to understand my suffering am glad that many won’t have to given such great ideas still exist within our world brings hope to the depressed community around the world, to the amazing psychologists and developers to the coders whom might never understood what the hell they were coding at the first place, you ladies and gentlemen have saved lives and for mine am and always will be grateful. May the force be with you all. Thank you.

Thank You. This is a really well made app from design point, user-friendly, and professionally thought out by psychologists, evidently. I have no issues thus far, but maybe to keep an open mind on new features or additions. It could be minuscule like adding different visual skins to the app for cosmetic purposes—or perhaps even some accessibility options for those who are disabled and can work in tangent with iOS settings. Another thought would maybe a way to upload images to your entries. I for one am very visual and sometimes I take pictures or save images from online that perhaps are either important to record for various reasons. A sleep journal section would likely be highly sought after and used, since sleep is extremely important and tied to your mental health. My last thought for now would perhaps to have an additional section for certain reminders (and also to have them logged) such as taking medication, important doctor appointments or other smaller ways to keep one accountable. Overall I’m glad I took the time to find this app and I hope it can help others as much as it helped me. Thank you.

Bring Back Old Interface. Love this app. It’s quite useful to record your mood, and the feelings you were experiencing at a particular moment. However, the updated interface with the emoji-like face is hideous. This is a clear example of app’s design teams tinkering with something that wasn’t broken. The app’s main purpose is to help people become more aware of their emotions and response to these. This is a serious topic, which the old interface reflected well while still being user friendly. The updated interface however, plays up to “modern sensibilities” but fails miserably at doing so. There’s a major and painful disconnect in the design language of the “log” tab and the “stats” tab. The emoji-like face in the “log” tab is the stuff of nightmares, and overall detracts from the app’s mental awareness goal. Buttons and overall design now feel modern for the sake of modernity: not purposefully designed that way, instead it all just reads like design taken out of a UI template you find on Dribble. Please, please, please Moodnotes team. Bring back the old interface, or find a way to tone down the new visuals. This updated visual language doesn’t reflect the app’s true value. I hope you realize that.

I love this app but there are some things that I wish were added!. I love this app! Iv never been able to stick to any other app Iv tried but this one makes it easy! I don’t utilize some stuff like I should but what I have done has been great!... I do wish there was a way to track some other things that might correlate with mood like being able to put in period dates, if I exercised, if I ate well... and so on to see what helps and to see what triggers any bad emotions that way I can see what other kind of interventions I can do to help myself feel more positive. Also if there was a way to click other and then manually type in an emotion not on the list or add one to the list that would be really nice as well! But other than that this app has been great!

Really enjoying this…. Decided to try this app when struggling with my relationship. It’s REALLY helping me get a good visual on frequency and ratio of good to bad moods… it’s also walking me through defining how I feel more elaborately, and why. Then the app takes it even further with helpful suggestions that I can control, and great articles to expand my understanding. I’d love a better way to view data, maybe more options in graph form or something, and more articles would be great, because I’m digesting them so quickly! Otherwise I am super pleased and feel more centered in myself- even self trust is increasing. I feel like I have a place to go when I feel angry, overwhelmed, or even happy and calm.

Can you make an iPad version?. I love this app. I use it all the time. I used to use it on my phone but then I would get really distracted and just surf the web (I have ADHD and anxiety and use this to record my anxiety and motivation with school work). I use my iPad Pro strictly for productivity and school work, so I thought it’d be cool if this app was also offered for the iPad? I already am so organized through my iPad, less so with my iPhone. Besides that... this app is so great. I love scrolling back in entries and analyzing what might make me feel a certain way over time. It has helped me a lot to opening my eyes to behaviors or triggers I might not have realized. Thank you, and if it’s not too troublesome, please consider making an iPad app? Maybe not charge full price for the upgrade, but less for people who’ve already purchased this app... I’m willing to support the creation of the iPad app. I’d also be eternally grateful and I expect a lot of others will be too! Thank you so much, Michael

Worth the Money - Seriously. I grew up in a dysfunctional family and because of that really developed some bad thinking habits and depression. Most of my 20’s its been something I have always had to keep in check. I did cognitive behavioral therapy a couple years ago and it helped me a ton! However, I quickly learned that CBT is a lifestyle and is something you have to remind yourself of daily and use frequently. It’s very easy to fall out of habits and allow our emotional/mental health to dwindle. To be honest if you are reading this review you are probably on your phone a lot anyways and use a lot of apps, so please do yourself a favor and just try this. I’m looking forward to using it more and wanted to thank the developers for how intuitive it is. It is so easy to input all the steps of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and really get down to what some of your biggest mental filters are that keep you from seeing life and yourself the way they should be seen. Just pay for it, silly!

I LOVE MOOD NOTES!. Wow! Great app! Great handy way to log and process feelings throughout the day, at ANYTIME. If I start to feel something, I can pull out my phone, and start typing in MOODNOTES. As I type my feelings about a situation, I am able to document and process things at the same time, and I typically will write more than initially planned. This results in my being in a cleansed and more calm state, having identified optional ways of dealing with issues/feelings, and a plan of action. I feel less “stuck”, nor like a victim, because I have identified options. I do not feel like I need to rush to be heard, because I have my feelings stored in a safe place and can recall them if and when I want, and take my time expressing myself, if and when I decide to do so. It helps me decide how I will do so as well. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, that’s all I need, and it is over. But if I need more, I can also return to the documented incident, and during an established time, I can tap into my experience, and identify my feelings, and let myself feel, til they are finished. I can end my feeling journey with a positive thought, like: “I am okay”, or “I am a capable and resilient person”. This is GREAT!!!

Icon bug; Needs an iPad version.. Well, I downloaded this from a curated section in the App Store. I didn’t see anything in the description about this being primarily for iPhone. So it looks terrible on my iPad mini. Additionally, the icon appears as a circular grid. I tried re-downloading, but got the same result. The developer justifies the the lack of an iPad version by saying on it website that it is primarily a mobile app. I think this is a poor excuse, and I feel somewhat misled by the way in which the app was advertised by Apple. They need to work out some bugs in the content curation of the new App Store. Edit: This is my review for my experience on the iPad. My point is that iPad owners will not be as satisfied with the app, so those buyers should be aware. There is nothing in the “Today” section of the App Store which states clearly this is iPhone only. I’m only attempting to aid the consumer in making an informed decision.

Weird tidbit. This app is like making an emotional journal of your day. I started the first few days recording what I feel right as I woke up. But progressively have been making journal entries throughout the day as my moods change. It takes as little as a minute to record how you are feeling in that moment. From there the entry will ask you to specify why you think you’re feeling this way. I highly encourage anyone who purchases this app to do so as much as possible. At the end of the week you can see how your moods change and it gives you references as to what triggers those moods so you can keep feeding those triggers or try to prevent your triggers. This is the first review I have ever made for an app. I felt so compelled to share my opinion with the world, that’s how wonderful this app is!

decent, but not so much free. So I downloaded this app for a class, and because I have bad borderline personality disorder and wanted to see if my mood swings had patterns or indicators, however, upon using this app I have learned nothing. I still have no conclusions, and the only useful way this app could be used is if one paid for it. The free mood trends are confusing to understand as there is no indicator to what each line means, and moreover the key words you can put in your mood description don't seem to have a correlation chart. Some of the features promised in the paid version seem promising and look fun (although blurred in the free version). I don't however believe one should HAVE to pay for these basic features, if you wanted an app that was for mood tracking or something like I wished for, I wouldn't recommend this one unless you're willing to pay.

Easy to Use and Very Helpful!. I almost never rate AND leave a review, but this app has been incredibly helpful! The last couple of months I’ve been struggling with new mental health issues and finally decided to change my medications. Having done so my doctor and partner recommended that I should write about how my new medications are affecting me, my moods, behaviors etc... I’m really not one who likes to journal etc... so I found this app after a quick google search. It can be very difficult for me to stick to routine especially if it’s something I don’t like doing and takes too long. This app is fantastic in that if I don’t want to/feel like I don’t have time I can register my mood quickly and easily via the little mood face, but I want to contribute you more I can add notes and also, specific feelings contributing to my overall mood. I think it’s completely worth the money. I look forward to seeing my insights a data after I’ve used it for a couple of months!

Transformative in my anxiety, depression, and happiness coping. This app changed my life regarding how I manage my anxiety. I have recommended it to countless others. While I don’t journal as often as I would like, I use this app when I am feeling myself start to slip into the endless cyclical depths of anxiety and depression. I immediately feel a sense of relief after coping through my own thoughts to first acknowledge my feelings, validate that I feel them, understand why I feel them, and then redirect my thoughts and energy about them. I also try to occasionally check my happy thoughts when I remember. When I need a quick pick me up, I like to go back to them - similarly to looking at pictures of a fond memory. This app is transformative. I am so happy I downloaded it years ago

Notifications. I love this app. I’ve had it since the start of the year after being recommended and it’s been amazing since. However in the last few weeks I’ve stopped getting my notifications to when to record my moods. I had 9 months of nonstop reminders at exactly 10 pm like I set it the first day I used the app and suddenly—nothing. Like I didn’t even get a notification tonight as I’m writing this review. This is very disappointing because so far I was able to keep a good record of things to reflect on later and it was helpful for when I went to therapy. Now I randomly get reminded one day yes and another no. It’s really stressing me out because I’m relying on this app for this. I know the update said they fixed it but it’s really not fixed. I either have to remember to do it (which I don’t often hence the reason I have my reminder notification) manually or the day isn’t recorded and now I have gaps in my daily reflections. Please fix this it was doing so well before until the last 2 months.

Disappointing UI change for selecting feelings (but still a great app). About the selecting feelings step: choosing feelings and adjusting their intensity used to be combined into one step. It was really intuitive and fast. Now it’s separated into two steps. Sure, it feels more clunky and slow, but… depression can make that one extra step seem really hard sometimes, y’know? I think it’s really important to make tools like this as easy to use and as accessible as possible, which means reducing the number of “clicks” to streamline the experience. Otherwise, I recommend this app for when you’re stuck in unhelpful thoughts. It does a brilliant job of putting things in perspective and pointing out blind spots in your thinking, without invalidating your emotions. I hope the developers see this feedback and consider tweaking the UI again.

Phenomenal application. I downloaded this application on a whim, and figured this may be just like some of the other Mood tracking apps I’ve used before. I’m interested in getting to know what makes me feel bad, what makes me feel good, and have the option of getting more in depth with my journaling if I have the time. This app not only keeps track of my moods over time, but it points out your weaknesses, and your strengths. When listing the way I feel, the app has a list for negative and positive feelings that has helped me consider that there are two possible ways to think about things. I leave the app feeling refreshed and reflective of the insight it gives me. I feel like this application has immense potential, but could be developed even further. In some ways I have found this application better than having a therapist. With Moodnotes, you are your own counselor and coach. Keep up the good work!

Great app⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟. I love this app and I feel it’s a place I can really be free with my emotions. I would suggest this app to anyone that feels they need someone to talk to but doesn’t or is feeling a little self conscious. The app allows you to show how you feel write about it and show your feelings bad or good, it’s not just an old app it’s like a place, a place where you can be completely free. Though some people may say something like this “but I have nosy brothers/sisters they’ll find it for sure and I don’t want them knowing.” well if that’s the case then you can set up a password and or use your finger print so only you can get in. Those are the reasons why this app is great and I would certainly recommend it to you.

Outstanding App!. I’ve only had the app for a little over a day now, and I’m already in love. I deal with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and my therapist has always suggested journaling. I finally decided that this app seemed quite promising, and it has not disappointed me. I’ve already made one journal entry when I was anxious, and being able to identify traps and see how you could think about the situation differently was a big help! Also, there was a bug in the app, so I contacted support, and before I knew it, they had responded! And, surely enough, as they said, there was an update released today fixing it! I recommended this app to my therapist as an app to suggest to her other clients, and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to start journaling for any reason!

Amazing. I started out with journaling my moods in Stigma when it first came out a few years ago. That app gives a lot of great options and I do like the charting features which show you how your mood is fluctuating. The downsides were that some moods weren’t categorizing correctly and it required loading the app and selecting specific emotions, not selecting a simpler method for quick additions. This app allows me to quickly log the primary feeling via a sliding smiley/frowning face, which is genius. I can also do quick additions on my Watch. The charts are difficult to read because they’re not calendar-based, but the ease of use makes up for that. I’m so very glad that I got this app. I’m actually logging mostly every day, and it really helps me. I fall off the wagon easily with other apps, but not this one. I highly recommend!

Better than therapy for me. I don't buy many apps but I'm SO glad I bought this one. If you are on the fence, just get this app already! I had a therapist for about a year but he wasn't very helpful... In my first week of using this app, it was already better than going to a mediocre therapist*. And obviously the app is cheaper ($4 one time for the app vs whatever your copay is to visit a therapist). I love how this app helps you look at your moods and feelings more objectively. Identifying thinking traps and re-thinking negative thoughts has helped my mood. Now I'm starting to realize when I'm falling into these traps during the thought rather than afterwards when I log it in the app. Seeing the history of my moods is great too. I would have thought my average mood was pretty negative, but over the past month of using the app I've realized that I'm in a neutral mood over half of the time. * Disclaimer - If therapy is beneficial for you I don't recommend quitting it. You could probably use this app alongside therapy too. Sometimes a therapist and the client are not a good match for each other, as was my case.

iPhone X support needed!! Please!!. I’ve been suffering from anxiety attacks since earlier this year due to some personal matters. I’ve been extremely stressed and depressed for months now and it’s a great day to write down how my day goes even if it’s always negative. I could finally to record the things I want to say to myself without having to listen to anyone else’s opinion. But not having an iPhone X support always worries me. I want to keep writing but I don’t know if the developers are still paying enough attention to this product because I want to make sure that the product I’m entrusting is also getting a good support so I could always rely on it even if I switch devices in the future. However, the last update has been 7 moths and I would love to know if we are getting an update soon. Thank you!

Change the pricing model. I have been recommending this app to my loved ones left and right for its life-changing place in mental health. It was disheartening for me to learn that the developers have moved the app to a subscription-based pricing model, without there even being any real changes to what is offered... Many of the people I had shown the app to expressed excitement and willingness to purchase the app for the amount it used to be listed at, but now are turned off by the subscription-based pricing model. Please change this model! If the developers are still working on the app and adding new features (which I do not see happening — real shady, guys) then I suggest looking at the way the developers of the app ‘Agenda’ are monetizing their product. That would be a good model that doesn’t turn people off! Moodnotes is a great app, but I really don’t see any reason why it is being monetized in this way.

BEAUTIFUL UI/UX!!! Never seen anything like it. Man, if I knew who designed this, I’d be on a hunt to steal them onto my team. This is by far the most beautiful UX and UI I’ve ever come across on the App Store. Aside from the design itself, it’s basically a therapist in your pocket. And one reason I bring up the UX is because—if you’re already feeling anxiety or stressed—you don’t want to jump into an app that further evokes that anxiety. The fact that it’s both extremely intuitive AND even enjoyable to use (which is not common for psyche apps), makes this the complete package. I’ve used it for years and my life has significantly improved as a result. And I mean this in every sense of the word. It’s directly tied to the simple and insightful ‘brain correcting’ from the app itself. There is literally no reason one should now have this in their life tool belt.

Great app for anxiety. I’m really enjoying this app. I don’t have anything I’d want to change, but there are some features I’d like to see in the future: - I like the fact that sometimes the questions “talk me out of” whatever I’m feeling and I’d like to see an option for a more detailed approach to this, for example where you are experiencing a panic attack and a series of questions would guide you back to normal - maybe some info/tips/advice and possibly would pop up when you select “anxious” or “sad” and would give you a more detailed approach to dealing with that particular feeling - also maybe a calendar or graph view of the mood data And there’s a little bug when you limit screen time (in the new iOS), it won’t let you sign in even when you ignore the limit. Otherwise, app runs perfectly!

just helpful and easy to use. Of all the mood tracker apps I’ve tried, this one offers the best free plan, as you can do most things, with the exception of a few features like stats about your progress. Also, it is detailed enough, so I can better analyze my emotions. Personally, I find it extremely helpful to write out my feelings instead of internalizing them, and this app helps me to do so. It not only lets you select how your day was from terrible to awesome, but also allows you to write about your feelings and give reasons why you are feeling those things. One of my favorite features is the ability to put the intensity of each different emotion, which is very helpful. Love the app!

I’ve already reviewed this once, but I just want to review it again. As a thank you for making such an amazing app. I can’t tell you enough how much this app has change my life over the last year. I tend to only come for it when I’m feeling absolutely helpless and crushed, but every single fricken time I come out with a better and more genuinely positive perspective. Between this app and a few other things (but really this app) I have learned about who I am and what I’m capable of. I recommend it to anyone who ever tells me they’re struggling, and I always get thank yous in return. Thank you thank you thank you for making me feel less hopeless when facing adversity. I will never be able to fully articulate the amount of gratitude I have for this app and it’s creators ❤️

Enhanced Color Contrast. Like the app. Especially the ease in functionality between quick saves and detailed. One small but potentially powerful improvement to consider is enhanced color contrast. It seems the goal of CBT is to broaden (contrast) the distinction between similar feelings, or create more contrast within thoughts and feelings. Using deeper color contrast may better symbolize the stark difference between happy and sad, or happy and extremely happy. For example using electric-punch red for happy-happy and indigo blue for sad-reallysad. This may come off as too childlike or possibly less serious to the magnitude of our struggle, but keep in mind emergency situations use the brightness color ( and contrast ) available. CBT seems designed for emergency emotional situations. Why not use a more intense color pallet to reflect that?

A great help. This app has helped me a lot by providing a place to freely talk about my emotions more honestly. The app doesn’t judge, it just is. The thought analysis is really helpful, just having the prompt of “What are ways of thinking about the situation without traps?” has been so useful. There are times I don’t feel like answering that question and just want to sulk, but the app gently nudges me to do it anyway. Answering eases my thoughts so much. Thank you developers! :) The only reason it’s not a full 5 stars is issues I’m having with scrolling. When I filled out the Insights entry (not a Moodnote), I found that I couldn’t scroll without messing around with the existing text. It’s a little annoying, since I wrote some important things that I want to be able to read more often. Other than that, a full 5 stars from me. :) Edit: I also had an issue where a whole chunk of a moodnote was deleted. I’m not sure what caused it and it’s only happened once so far. Kind of sad to lose that though.

Rewarding and Fun👌. This app delivers what it promised too and even more. The beautiful layout and simplistic design is great, and the faces are awesome. I appreciate the option of either quickly showing how you feel and hope it out later. I also love the method of going deeper into how you feel presenting you with traps you face. My favorite part is definitely the data shown. It’s rewarding to look at how you’ve felt over the month or even year. You see the big picture and I love that. If I had to ask for something to add to the app for the developer, I would like a way to where you choose how you feel and when you go and choose your emotions (such as the anger, or cheerful attitude) that the face changes. Example: I chose the ): face and after I did I said I was angry so after I save the face changes from :( to >:(. I would adore a feature like this but if it never gets implemented than I hope the developers will continue to improve the app in other ways. Keep up the good work!😀

Great app, makes you think!. Finding a mental health professional is difficult. Of course, for many of us it’s a necessary headache (all of the calls and the waiting just to get in someplace, or waiting months until you can see someone again); however, filling the gaps between professional one-on-one sessions has never been quite as effective as it has been with Moodnotes. Journaling the old fashion way is great! .... if you can be consistent. But then, you’re talking AT something, rather than having an app like this actually engage with your mood - how are you feeling? What moods are you experiencing? What thinking traps may you have fallen into today? How can you reframe your negative feelings now that you know WHY you were thinking this way? It’s a fantastic tool to have to keep my brain in check. The only think I wish the app had was either the ability to add your own thinking traps, or for the developers to add more (such as minimizing negatives, compartmentalizing, etc.). These are my personal MO’s, which I’m aware of, but it’d help to have this app call me out on them too. :)

So-so. It’s a good motivation to journal and for that reason I keep using it. I wish there were an option to add feelings to the list - there are many there, but obviously there are many more that I simply note in my text summary. I do wish that the app wouldn’t automatically send me a thought correction procedure whenever I identify even a single “negative” feeling, even if the overall mood and tone for the day are highly positive as expressed in my “smile” and positive feeling selection. It seems like it negates all the positive feelings. I also wish it didn’t list “tired” as a “negative” feeling - I’m much more likely to be tired when I’ve had a very good day, and tired is a pleasant feeling after a long run, productive meeting, etc! Finally, please delete the optimism exercise about “what will your life look like in a few years.” My life expectancy isn’t that long, and although I don’t mind being reminded of it, it makes the exercise difficult (I generally write “I will have had a quick and comfortable death at a time and place of my choosing, and my end of life wishes will have been honored” ... but it has to be the same response every time since my life expectancy isn’t going to increase!) - and others might find that a serious downer. Not everyone who uses this app is 25 and healthy!

Hate the new update. This app has helped me through many struggles. I was able to change my emotions by using it. I recommended it to friends, coworkers, family members, my therapist and my DBT group. It’s really been helpful in my recovery. I haven’t had many episodes lately and when I came back to the app to help myself through some difficult situations and return to wise mind, I’m left more frustrated and upset. The app starts off the same. Select the feelings you are feeling then the intensity of those feelings. Then select the traps you are falling in. *Then it goes to one box to fill in how I view these traps after reading them. It goes to review and adjust the intensity of feelings. Then it goes through how to view the traps for your situation. *They removed the single most important step. After selecting the traps you fall in, the app would then let you go through each trap and think them through by typing them out. Effectively getting my brain to work through the problem. Without that step it’s just an app that is used more like a diary/journal. Please bring back the worksheet format of working through each step guiding the brain to come out of the trap. Without it I’m left still frustrated and more intense feelings.

A Great App. I would recommend this app to everybody. It helps you get your thoughts down and pinpoint how you were feeling. But my favorite part is after 10 or so entries, you get to look back and gain insight. And this inside helps you to see patterns. And for me, I realized how stuck I am on the same things. It was almost a common theme. And I think we all have one. You just don’t realize it until you truly see the writing in front of you. You can’t dismiss it. As long as you are Frank and honest, you can get real results. I also like the feature that your feelings and percentages so that you can see what your core problems are. Once you know that, you can begin to change it. And I use other apps for that process. But this is a great beginning. It’s like a mini journal. And it’s help me get straight to the point with what I’m feeling and what’s happening to me at the moment. I wish that the questions are varied after you submit your feelings but I still give it five stars!

Underwhelming.. I love this app. I also am annoyed at this app. That's because i see potential for it to perform so much better at helping people really improve, and these changes I imagine would be so small and easy to add. 1) scrolling through feelings would be alot easier if they were grouped under 3 main feelings (in the negative feelings), depression, anxiety, and anger. Every negative feeling is a different expression of one of those feelings. It would just be more organized that way. 2) identifying traps should be followed by writing why the thought is actually a trap. If your thought is "jill doesn't like me" and you identify "mind reading" as the trap, one more step would really help, which is, go back to the statement and now respond to it. "Jill doesn't like me is mind reading because"... So basically in this step you match the thought with the distortion(s) that fit, and then you have a statement followed by "is a distortion because" and then you fill out the "because...". Ex: "...because I can't really know what she's thinking, at least not without asking her". Is step 2 too obvious? I think it's crucial and really stops this app from lifting my mood personally. I wonder how many people find their mood improved as is. CBT is a bunch of obvious and simple things but each detail really makes a difference. I'm hoping for some new feedback from developers from this new review. I'm writing this to you!

Very nice. I hope to one day look back and appreciate my growth in looking at the history of what is essentially emotional journal entries. Very valuable app indeed. Helps you understand yourself, and that’s the first step to being better. There’s one improvement and it would be that the mood pie instead averages your mood notes on a per day basis and then shows day by day average distributions rather than per mood note. For example say I make 20 happy mood notes in a day, and one hyper depressed mood note the next. I’m now apparently very happy on average. However the reality is I had a good day and a bad day. Only suggestion, otherwise pretty great. I actually got this app literally a day before a massive romantic failure on my part and in retrospect this app helped me understand my condition and looking back I’ve gathered valuable info on the grieving process at a personal level. Really just a great app.

So disappointing. I used to adore this app. It was pretty much perfect. It was simple and you could really easily just write about your day or how you were feeling without any complications. It was easy to look through past entries and the design of the app was very nice to look at at. In short, the app was about the journaling without all the extra distractions. Not anymore though. Now the whole thing is bogged down with so many new “features” that go completely against the main reason I used the app in the first place. Now the spot for writing is super small and to get to it you are forced to jump through an absurd number of hoops. Looking through past entries is a pain and the app looks completely different from when I first downloaded it, and not for the better. I’m so unbelievably disappointed. I have a lot of writing wrapped up in this app and now it feels inaccessible. It’s just such a shame and I would really love to go back to the simpler times of this app, when it didn’t require you to complicate your entries. It’s really frustrating that something that was once so great is now something I’ll probably never use again.

Most Meaningful Journaling App. I am a longtime user of another journaling app that has brought me no joy over the many years that I have used it. I look back at the entries and there is no connectivity that I can easily discern between what my moods were, what was happening around me, and the ways that I could enhance my life in those moments to promote better outcomes. Moodnotes changes all that. It’s visual. It’s stimulating. With the tools that Moodnotes provides, I am able to see that connectivity, and I have that visual stimulation that I have been searching for all along. The prompts and facial emotes for each entry are game-changing for anyone who is trying to live in the present. You are able to use the tools in the app to take a constructive approach to what is going on inside you and around you. Moodnotes helps pave the road of your life and fill in the potholes that may sometimes appear. Thank you Moodnotes for having such a positive impact on my life. Thank you for your hard work and continued support for such a game-changing experience. *This is not a sponsored or compensated review*

Phenomenal App. Let’s chat about how the app writes its own review & how you reading these reviews need to understand that. If you find yourself in a position where things are bad & you want to find out the triggers, this is a great app. All in all it does exactly what any tracker does. It’s not fantastic as it doesn’t allow you to tap through your history and open everything up. So for the price, improvements could be made. All in all though, this app is great. I’ll stop writing now so you can read what the app wrote for me. I’m docking a star for putting words in people’s mouths. Here’s what the mood tracker wrote for me, note: these are not my words so be careful when reading the reviews. AI written content should be banned. ——- The ease of use & mood tracking is helping me understand and see patterns that I’ve overlooked in myself. Great job. From the app design to the insight it gives. Strongly recommend this to anyone wanting to visualize their patterns or simply record their moments.

I learn more about myself everyday. As someone who struggles with identifying how I feel, and more so what I can do about it, this app helps me tremendously. I don’t usually write reviews, but this app helped me (and is continuing to help me) through a rough patch in my life. It was recommended to me by a friend and I love it! It breaks down emotions into coherent subcategories and analyzes how these emotions may be contributing to negative “thinking traps”. I like seeing my most often get emotions, as well as how many entries I have for each category. This app helps me identify what I feel and I can therefore think about these emotions and what is causing them and help me change my life for the better. I recommend for everyone. The cost is definitely worth it.

Small adjustments away from greatness. I use Moodnotes as a mood tracker in hope of detecting patterns over time. I log moods about four times daily. I would get hopeless and irritable in the late afternoon so I began testing my blood sugar around that time and it was always low, about 80 on average. This might be normal at 4 AM not PM. I often forget to eat due to ADHD time blindness and rarely eat on schedule. The interactive emoji is helpful for quickly logging mood. Can’t think of a quicker way. Simple and brilliant. Now the problem is the app doesn’t challenge and hook the user by asking “Why” immediately post mood entry. Instead it has Add Detail as an option displayed in the same color with a white boxed line. Not as effective as it could be. I rarely choose to add detail due to avoidance and not really seeing it. There’s no nudge. Ideally it’d go: emoji, why/what’s causing/happening or skip (in smaller font) ending the session, choose feelings, check a thought (applicable CBT)...etc. The pages would change immediately post entry. Now the app would be beneficial to us by reducing mental pain quicker ad more effectively. Moodnotes has a couple of other simple flaws including translating, displaying data effectively. The colors shouldn’t blend into each other. Instead important choices should be in different colors for easier visual flow. These simple changes will increase efficacy and user usage thus more healing and yes, a better world.

Please read!!!. This app is amazing for all ages. I’ve had a hard time with therapist and psychologist for years and years of trying to find one that could help me. I finally found an amazing therapist who helps me tremendously. Only, she works far from where I live so it’s hard to see her as often as I’d like. I was skeptical about downloading this app, since it’s hard for me to find something/ someone that helps change my mindset. I saw the good reviews and downloaded it. After just one journal entry, I fell in love. The questions, and strategy the app uses to help flip any negativity is professional and truly works. It reminds me of how my therapist is able to help me so well. This app truly helps you for the better whether you have a mental illness (like me) or just want to be overall more positive and understandings to yourself and feelings, just be consistent with it! I’ve noticed a change in my mood and noticed I’ve been more positive and motivated at the end of the day. Even on those really bad days, it helps. It helps just to type out how you feel, and this app helps you recognize that and why. Much worth the purchase. I’m so happy someone made this app. To the developers: I hope you know you’re helping a lot of people with this app, it’s truly great, thank you.

I didn’t think I wanted this app, until I did.. As someone who writes in a couple of journals already (one pocket Moleskine for when I don’t want to carry the second one) I didn’t think this app was worth my $4. But after reading the App Store Story that was posted yesterday and how you’ve integrated CBT into what would normally be a pretty simple journaling app, which, as someone who’s very interested in and passionate about the field of psychology, intrigued me, at least enough to purchase the app and see how it works. And I must admit, despite having only wrote three entries over two days, I can see myself using this app for a long, long time. It’s just such an innovative combination of concepts. One thing I would like to see implemented is the ability to raise and lower different feelings after reflecting a thought. Right now I can only raise or lower the negative feelings I have chosen beforehand. Other than that, great app!

UI headed south. On-and-off user of the app for a couple years now, and appreciate that it’s been there all those years. Even just spending a few days with this latest update, though, has sent me looking for alternatives. It’s not the subscription—the benefits this provided me are more than worth the price being asked for premium—but the simple fact that the app itself has gotten worse. The face-scanning mood input solves a problem I don’t think anyone has, and it does so poorly—my face seems incapable of anything than a 0 or -1. The button designs guide the user _away_ from the CBT details workflow. The timeline now uses a physically-inspired design (depth, shadows etc) that is entirely incongruous with the CBT workflow screen, which is in the old, flat style; also for some reason the details screen’s header seems to be double its old height. If there were something magical or proprietary about what Moodnotes did, then these UI concerns would be middling—but CBT is beautifully simple enough that it can be done with pencil and paper; that Moodnotes provided a superior UI compared to alternatives was its entire selling point. For years, going off of that original ustwo design, that superiority seemed assured. I am sad (30%) for that to no longer be the case.

Incredibly Useful, Wish it Had More. As someone with depression, anxiety, and ADHD, this app really helps me keep track of my emotions through different parts of my day, and challenges me to specify what things contribute to my good (and bad) feelings. Identifying thinking traps and rephrasing my negative thoughts has started to help me control them better. The only thing I wish this app had is some exercises, like deep breathing or guided meditation to help actively practice this control. Another app I use for tracking my anxiety, Pacifica, has timed activities and meditation that help me control my breathing when my anxiety is high and has specialized segments depending on how you’re feeling (relax now, mindfulness, stressful situations, calm down, etc). That being said, this is still a beautiful app. With both I feel like I’m covered for what I need. I just wish there were some more opportunities to practice what is taught in this app through more active means.

Cancellation. I’ve looked everywhere to cancel before my free 7 day trial is complete but cannot find how to cancel

This is incredible. This really helps. It changes my perspective on life, and it actually calms me down! It is amazing and I’m really thankful Moodnotes it a thing.

Very helpful.. Good to see how my mood changes due to certain circumstances. Great app. 👍

Well thought out experience. I think there could be more insights based on analytics though

Can’t unsubscribe while on free trial?. I decided to try this out and 5 days into the free 7 day trial decided it wasn’t for me and tried to unsubscribe before I got charged. There is literally no way to unsubscribe until you have already rolled over into a paid subscription and then apparently you’re able to unsubscribe. Makes no sense and am pretty annoyed.

Best means of recording & planning. Managing time as we do is always the challenge - planning & recording using Moodnotes makes it easy - this may be good way. It works for me & coaching clients

Needs the facility to add extra emotions. Needs the facility to add extra emotions

Good app but some recent changes have degraded UX. Great app that I’ve used for years but after a recent update saving entries has some performance issues as it’s slower now. Also in stats (insights) some of the mood levels in the pie chart are separated even though they are the same mood level. I think the option to select activities completed in a day could be a good feature if integrated with some form of stats. However, at the moment it is cumbersome and has little ability to be personalised. My suggestion is to allow users to see how moods relate to daily activities recorded. Also allow custom activities to be created because the current ones are a bit restrictive. I would really like to see greater stats and insights in the app so trends can be identified. This would be super helpful from a treatment perspective. For example a chart that shows average mood score each month or maybe the variability of scores for a given month using standard deviation.

Recommended.. I have been using this App on a daily basis for about three weeks now. To be honest, it is a little prescriptive in its limited binary-type selection of moods and facial expressions, and the ability for users to add their own customised feelings would be a welcome addition. It is also important to acknowledge that it should not be seen as anything more than a ‘paracounselling’ measure, until professional help is sought. Having said that, there is much to say about the benefits of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and I have found myself in a consistently brighter and more positive place since using Moodnotes. For that reason, I would recommend this App to anyone who is not travelling as well as they would, or should ideally be.

Life changing. I’ve tried a few of the ‘everyone is jumping on the mental health bandwagon’ apps over the years (more lately) and always had my skepticism affirmed. Having suffered with dual mental illnesses since childhood I’ve always laughed off/snobbed the idea that an app could help me better than my doctors and psychologists, but this app...it has completely changed the way I approach my mental health on a daily basis and unlocked a whole new level of productivity and growth for my health professionals and I...and all in just a few weeks. It won’t work for everyone - we all have different factors that contribute to and shape the way we manage and make sense of the world, but for me it has been a miracle worker. Thank you with all my heart to all the people behind it - you’ve created something that will truly bring a lot of people some real good.

Lacks personalisation. I the app is easy to use and has some good features but it lacks the ability to personalise more. For example I may not be feeling ok or bad, but would like to be able to describe how I’m feeling in a way that is more meaningful to me. Same with the feelings and activities . It would be good to have a custom option. I love the insights but I think it would be more useful to have examples of how to look at things differently. Actual tools to use to change mindset

AUTOMATIC 1 YEAR RENEWAL. Hi Moodnotes, YOU ARE POISON. I am struggling with sleep and was interested in sleep tracking, I downloaded your app, I read about the auto renewal. Then in the following DAY (singular) I tried the app, wasn’t for me. Continued my struggle with insomnia. THEN YOU DEDUCT A FULL YEAR SUBSCRIPTION. Why not just one month? For an app that purports to support a healthy lifestyle you have caused be more distress with you predatory renewal process. HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME.

So easy. When my specialist said I need to do a mod diary and she wrote on paper how it should look I knew I’d never get it done or have it when I need it, I also don’t know how to describe how I feel and there are buttons on here you can select as well really useful

Guidance on the emotions and feelings. Awesome and remarkable for making day to day moods

Easy simple thought-checking diary. I’ve been using this app for over a couple of years now and I’m not sure where I’d be without it. It’s therapy in your pocket. Within minutes, I can write about how I’m feeling and identify common traps in my thinking. Overtime I’m seeing that I’m getting faster in identifying the flaws and being able to replace negative with helpful thoughts. The insight data is very helpful; learning the common flaws we tend towards using. It gives me a lot of insight into my own patterns, as well as being easily able to look back at what I was thinking and how my moods shifted. Although this is in no way a substitute for therapy I really recommend it to both friends and clients. I think it’s a great self-help tool and a bouncing off point to be able to talk about some of the negative beliefs we have about ourselves and bring it to the surface.

Fantastic app. This app is fantastic. It’s really helpful to give you a view of how you’re feeling and challenging the way we think about things sometimes. It gives great metrics on your overall input and has helped me a lot.

Awesome. The app is awesome! You do have to pay, but it’s worth every cent!

Great for general practice. As a GP, I recommend this app to patients as part of CBT. Reasonably priced and accessible, it does not replace a psychologist but can help in milder cases, as part of therapy or while waiting to see a psychologist.

IDK. You can only have one a day

Good but.... It’s good but it doesn’t help when you feel bad about something and you have to sign a form thing to get advice to help you it just doesn’t make sense....

Great way to monitor myself and it’s helping a lot. Been a great help towards my self discovery

You have to pay. I thought this was a thing to help you calm down not a piggy bank!

Love it but. Needs more adjectives for emotions.

Great app to sort out my thoughts. Moodnotes provides a good scaffold to help me dissect my thoughts and reflect upon them. It is something that a lot of other journaling apps doesn’t do well enough. I usually use it before bed or on the go when I feel like I need to write something down. Being a user of this app for a couple of months now, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to journaling their moods and thoughts.

Self Care. This App honestly saved my life... Sirus 🦋

want to do more for free. i get why there’s a premium package, but i wish you could do a little bit more for free because i don’t have money for that

Mood. It helps me with my moon and how I am feeling and I can finally open up and say something and no one knows. And I can put a password on it so no one knows how I feel as a kid

Don’t buy.. If you have an iPhone X don’t get this app. Really basic features like Face ID and taking advantage of the iPhone X screen realestate is a real let down. I want to love this app so badly but I can’t with such a high price tag and unpolished feel. Another feature I’d like to see added is the ability to add photos to my journal entries to cater to people who are more visual thinkers and want to see and reflect on past entries and view photos of what made them feel happy or sad on a particular day. Over all it is a good app but I’m getting a refund and deleting it. will download when they fix the iPhone X problem. :)

Good App, but its been years and no iPad support. Surprised that they have not built a universal app.

Please bring compatibility for iPhone X.. An otherwise great app; will change my rating later, but the old iPhone black boxes is an eyesore.

Moodnotes has really come a long way 👍. Starting out as quite a basic mood-tracking app, Moodnotes now features a unique and mostly accurate general mood recorder, a CBT-based negative thinking analysis process, along with clear graphs one’s (hopeful) change over time. It should be noted that Thriveport have very commendably produced just the right balance of sophistication, accessibility, depth of analysis, and time commitment such an app. With legion similar mental health apps to wade through, most of which I found unsuitable for various reasons, it’s my opinion that if you’re wanting to begin tracking your mood and improving your mental toolkit, start right here with Moodnotes and you won’t go wrong. My heartfelt gratitude to the developers.

Love it. Cute and aesthetic way to log my moons and give myself perspective

No in-app purchases!!. Finally an awesome app in this field without in-app purchases. Absolutely love it.

Awesome!. I love this app. Really good idea and very nice UI and UX! Would just love to have “grateful” as one of the mood words you can select. Other than that really great app! Well done.

I love it!!. It was the best app ever

I love it. The team works on this app is awesome. They keep updating it makes it easier and more fun to use.

Daniels driving. I am thorough enjoying myself

Quite useful. This app is very interesting. I use it relatively frequently. The only reason I am giving this app 4 stars and not 5 is because of its limited features for users who are not subscribed to the premium subscription. The only advice I can give to the developers is to perhaps give non-subscribed users atleast one or two more features for free. Instead of making the app feel like a digital journal for free users, maybe make sure the free users are also receiving a bit of help from the app aswell as the paid users. Other than that, this app was made very well! :)

Sadly becoming gimicky and like a game. This app is underpinned by solid CBT principles. But as newer versions are released it is becoming more childlike and gamey. Make this about helping me capture a snapshot fast and without gimics. What is with the smiley face and sliders that never go back to zero. Please make this clean and smick like it used to be.

A great App for reflection and recording your moods. I find this app wonderful to gain insight into what may have led to the mood I am currently experiencing. It helps me never stand by using reflection how I can possibly think about things differently when I experience negative feelings. It has also gave me insight by reflecting what may be going on for other family members who are struggling what may be going on for them. It asks you to rethink what may have contributed to the most recent negative emotion, which I assess what may have been going on for family that I have had conflict with. It is a great app and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this app to anyone who wants to gain better insight into what may have triggered their feelings and what they can do/remember to experience more of the happy feelings that they experience.

Amazing app. I love this app I learned that I'm mostly happy but sometimes I just feel sad this app is really helpful with sadness and with the thinking traps i love the information they give you like don't make a situation too bad but really it's not that bad

First time user. Simple, quick to the point and easy to use

Awesome. Awesome app works great and love seeing the progress

Simple, brilliant. I’ve been using this app for about two weeks and I’m loving it - it enables brief but meaningful journaling which has helped me to better observe and manage my mood.

Amazing app, easy to use, much better than a paper journal.. This app has helped me understand my moods, and it is completely aligned with the scientific research around this type of therapy.

Great all round. In terms of app building: Beautiful interface, simple, easy, no bugs, always runs really smoothly. Albeit, It can get a little repetitive sometimes. In terms of concept: A great app to monitor your mood, I got it when I was having a bad time after breaking up with my boyfriend, and it was therapeutic to write down my negative feelings and learn how to rethink. I also started noticing my good moods more, and over time I started to feel less pessimistic as a person. Would highly reccommend

Once loved. Now pay gated.. I loved this app and it’s ability to create and share detailed entries with people, which made it great to send to mental health professionals. As of today anything beyond the mood slider is pay gated, at the very least I would have hoped the writing portion of a DIARY would be free.

Useful but a touch heavy handed. Although i have not been using mood notes for long i can see a map of my moods starting to form. The user interface is clean and easy to navigate and the general feel of the app is that it wants to help you get a better understanding if what makes you feel a certain way. My only complaint and the reason i believe it to be “heavy handed” is that it sort of always checks in reminding me to journal. I know when i need to use to it to get an accurate measure of my moods and this aspect of the app just gets a touch frustrating.

Well made but gets repetitive. It was really good for the first week, but then I got over how repetitive it was, selecting feelings, reading about the same thinking traps over and over. Further, I really wanted to be able to analyse my mood from day to day, week to week, month to month, etc. I want to be able to zoom in and out on this data to easily see cycles, or low points, or high points. I want more data analysis tools for my moods. The mood input method is good, but graphs to analyse that data is lacking. Overall, well made app but with limited functionality. Might check it out again in the future

Relly good. This app is so good just to write down how you are feeling and get all the stress out of you

Great CBT App. Looks great, works well. Easy to use. Well worth paying for. You pay for vitamins or supplements for your body, so why not invest in your mental health?

Too expensive for me. I’m staging with my ten I need to control my stress I found Moodnotes I learned that for my happiness I need to pay 52.99$.💶 Too expensive.🙁😡

YES. I LOVE it,it makes me know if something Bad

Great tool. This app is easy to use and inexpensive compared to most other CBT journaling apps.

Pretty Good 👌. It’s pretty good I just wish I could see my “Insights” and it not be blurry. I also wish you didn’t have to pay... it’s a little tad expensive... And especially just to have more than 1 journal entry a day!!! That’s CRAZY! Overall it’s decent I guess. 👌

Mon avis. J’aimerai que il et plus de chose et que sa me sois pas payant beaucoup d’adolescents utilise cette application et il non pas du tout paypal ou autre

Good app. I like the app. It is easy to use and meets my need.

Wonderful!. This app helped me go through anxiety and depression. It is very easy to fit into your daily routine, simple and efficient. Worth paying for! I highly recommend.

App redesign is ugly and difficult to use.. See title.

This sucks. I hate this app, it’s free to download but after that you literally have to pay for everything. This app sucks

Worth paying for if it was less expensive. It’s a nice app but it’s quite expensive for what it does.

Great tool for anxiety!!!. A really great tool to regulate emotions.

Worth every penny. This app was recommended to me by my therapist. It is a game changer. It helps me understand what I feel, why I feel it and how to work on changing it. I feel like I’m better able to understand my thoughts and emotions. Bravo!

One of the best, if not *the* best evidence-based mental health apps. Impeccable design, evidence-based, and simple. Could not ask for more!

Be able to customize. The app is great but I think you should be able to add activities that aren’t just there by default but you can create them. I think it would make it a lot better

love it. very helpful. i come from a place or privilege and recognize not everyone can afford to pay for this app but to me it is so worth it. this app is helping me get better.

If you pay - it seems ok. I wish it was a one time payment! Can’t afford yet another subscription but it does seem great. Don’t bother downloading if you can’t or do not wish to pay though as it is bare bones and lots of pay walls.

It used to be awesome. The new design for camera faces is so ugly and backwards that I’m stung speechless. Please revert to the simple one.

Really good!!. I really like this app and I think it’s very easy to use. I have suggested it to my friends but they have androids and can’t seem to find it on the App Store.

Used to be great, now not so much.. This app used to focus on research based CBT methodology. It now uses some kind of gratitude based method which is not useful for the same audience as CBT. The developers also appear to have ignored issues repeated to user experience and interface as the new style of mood input is bizarre with two separate menus requires to first choose current moods from a strange cluster of words and then on a separate page set the intensity. This prevents you from easily making changes as you have to toggle back and forth between pages. Old data inputted via CBT style menus appears to be no longer available to the user. Allowing a legacy mode would be an appreciated option for those who want to continue using the app with CBT style prompts. Accessibility options would also be nice for those who have visual difficulty with the oddly chosen low contrast colour choices used in the app. I’m not sure why such a drastic overhaul of this application was necessary when the ratings have been so high for a very long time.

Moodnotes. Gr8 little app. Easy to use and you can jot note about your day. Has settings to remind you to do it on a daily basis. Only con is that with the new Focus app from apple, the remind setting does not show up if you have it set as Do Not Disturb, not even a badge on app.

I love Moodnotes!!❤️❤️. This app is so helpful. If you have trouble talking about your feelings, this is something you need!

3 good reasons to have this app. 1. You don’t have to whip out your phone , because it has the watch feature. Quickly record moods and add notes to it if need be to remember the course of events happening leading to that mood 2. You’ve been doing CBT all your life. Realizing a thought is wrong or your feelings are exaggerated is all a part of knowing wether what you feel psychologically is objectively true. CBT or writing down your feelings, seeing where your fallacies are and adjusting your feelings after finding faults in yourself is a good step towards self improvement. You can’t change others without being able to change yourself first, and CBT can really allow you to realize that. This can let you avoid more fighting and unnecessary barking at people you disagree with and have a productive discussion instead 3. You can show this to your counsellor or therapist later, so it is a good companion app to the therapy you are already undergoing. please do not use it to diagnose yourself and leave it to the professionals.

cool app. i like the layout and the functions but i didn’t expect to have to pay for a premium version, other than that it’s great and i’d recommend

Amazing app!!! Pls use it I’m telling you!!!. This app is like someone I can chat with when I need help it just doesn’t go off telling anyone anything, I might only be 11 but kids can also go through a lot of problems

Good but too bad you have to pay for so many extras. Bummer that you have to pay for all the extras

A unsatisfactory change. The app used to be on dar for 8-9$ and I’ve been using it for a few years. It’s well done and useful in identifying your own state and emotions. Also been recommending it to friends Recently they went to a subscription model, the pricing structure for the service makes no sense. They now try to charge 40$ CAD With no improvement or changes other than a gimmic of facial recognition. To the devs: How they went from 8$ tota to 40$ a year I have no idea. What kind of market analysis did you do? What extra value are you now providing to justify this change? This needs some explanations or thoughts your your side. What a shame.

Moodnotes. This app has been very helpful for me. I am encouraged by the daily reminders to scan many more aspects of my living than I have previously considered in relationship to a perceived stress. Even if I don’t do the exercises daily the fact that I get the notification can in itself bring greater awareness to my day. One minor criticism lies With my skepticism of the facial scan to assess mood. I have lived many years with anxiety and depression and have adopted a consistency of facial expression which rarely reflects the inner turmoil. The App has not recorded any change from day to day. It’s a moot point because I know in my depths whether it’s been a good day.

Bad!. DONT WASTE UR TIME IF U WANT TO CHANGE THE WAY THAT U FEEL LIKE THEM GIVING U ADVISE U NEED TO PAY LIKE PUT IT IN THE AD THAT U NEED TO PAY TO CHANGE THE WAY THAT U FEEL 👎

Expensive!!!!. Free to download, $14/month subscription ?!?!?!?!?!?

Translation. French translation could be reviewed. « Okay » does not translate into « d’accord » which means « I agree » and does not make sense.

Don’t waste your time.. So I used to love this app and use it all the time to track my moods, export the data and look at charts in excel. But recently the app “updated” and shifted all my mood data and completely changed their mood scale, making 2 years of tracking completely useless. A massive waste of time.

Love it. I love this app so much thank who everyone made this

Moodnotes. Très bonne application! Bien fait et bien expliquée!

The free versions sucks.. It doesn’t even let you choose emotions. Just a variation of good and bad. You can’t even add a note to your day? Why would you have an app called “mood tracker” if all you can do is say I’m awesome, good, okay, bad, awful, and terrible ? That’s literally all your choices for mood documentation. For anyone who thinks this might be for them try a journal or diary app instead. Tangerine is great. This is trash.

Great app!!!. Great to write down emotions and find solutions to get better. Would like a French version please

J’adore

Sara sho. Often times were overcome by brain fog... we fail to see the reality of our situation and even feel stuck.. this feeling can become really intense and bleak at times.. What we need to realize is that “down” times do not last.. and there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. This app will help you track your mood to realize how there’s always an up time after a down time. ❤️

thank you!. thank you for offering such a service!

Lovely. Thank you for this app

It’s grate. I love it it helps alot

Application très bien construite, utile, qui vulgarise bien l’information! Gros coup de coeur!. Cette application est très complète et nous aide réellement à comprendre nos pièges de pensées et comment les rationaliser. Un outil grandement utile qui nous permet de grandir!

I like to right about my day. I right about my day and then the next day i reflects about the day before

More personal analytics. I’d like to see more personal analytics and user interactivity based on patterns, like frequent traps or which negative/positive feelings have been scoring the highest, and then catering suggestions to users based on that.

Free app — to lead you to a subscription. Saw it on Instagram ads, only find out you have to pay to use it :-( Disappointing!

Ok i guess. From reading other reviews I thought this would really help me with my anxiety and depression but idk it didn't really help much at all

Payer pour la plus par des choses. Cool super intéressant marche même avec Face ID

COOL🤩. This app is kinda great! You should TOTALLY get it. It really helped with my mental health! Just getting it all out! And to me it is kinda like a diary! Also, it doesn’t take up much time! But the only bad thing is that I kinda wish that after you write, there could be a message that responds and gives advice! Other than that the app is the best one I have come across!

I really like the app. It’s a really nice app

Some work needed but good. I like the app but it feels pretty bare bones. - Would like a way to see all the insights I've written. - Be able to select a date on the moodtrends chart and quickly jump to it.

Good app. Negative emotions need to be expanded. People with chronic pain can use this app but are limited by what they can list what they feel. To be honest the list of emotions in general can be expanded. For instance I can be in pain but be happy at the same time. It’s very important to list both of those and at what percentage all of the various feelings are. There is a very strong relationship between chronic pain and depression that often gets missed that this app has a wonderful opportunity to show a user ‘hey! Your depression may be caused, or at least contributed by, your chronic pain!’ That could prompt them to get treatment changes and, oh my god, help improve their life. And for those that know the correlation, it’s still terribly easy to forget and then wonder “am I going crazy?”. Such great opportunities for this app!

The Moodnotes app.. I have been using the Moodnotes app for approximately 2 to 3 weeks and learned about it on NBC’s Today Show’s 3rd Hour. It not only asks 1 or 2 relevant questions and then gives you the tools to answer the questions in 1 or 2 steps to decide how you want to fix the problem. So with their tools and guidance, you come up with the answers yourself and they insert things for you to consider to try if you can not see your way out. In my opinion this serves as an accurate precursor for regulated physician and therapist based therapies. (If you decide to go that route.)

I’ve needed help. Understanding what I am feeling at any given moment is really difficult for me. I often feel like I feel too many things at once and don’t know how to sort them out. I find myself falling into many different traps and spiraling into anxiety. I just logged my first emotion/mood on this app and I am very impressed. It helped me understand why I’m feeling what I’m feeling and even gave me positive ways to deal with this kind of thinking in the future. I actually already feel better. I think this could be a great new tool for me.

Great for tracking moods. This app is honestly a steal. Some might be deterred because it's $5, but it's still cheaper than a journal you would buy basically anywhere. Moodnotes reminds me every day to write down how I'm feeling, and it's honestly such an easy interface to use. At just an eye's glance, I can see what my moods have been like for the past 2 weeks; I can watch as much or as little as I want, and if I'm going to see my therapist, I can easily look back at daily notes to remind myself how I was feeling. For someone who has had depression, it's extreme helpful to track moods -- for yourself AND your psychologist 👍🏻.

Helps to write and categorize feelings. I found it really helps to go through the process this app uses. Even if you don’t go through the whole thinking traps and adjustment sections it helps to write out what’s going on. But what are the post-trap adjustments for? They don’t seem to come up anywhere else. There’s no way to search your previous notes, you just get a list by date. The insights view is a nice start but it feels half baked. Why can’t you filter your notes by feeling or emotion? Seems like there’s a wasted opportunity to draw parallels between someone’s most common traps, which the app definitely tracks but doesn’t allow the user to navigate.

Opened this app and it is nothing like it used to be. This app used to have journal prompts for analyzing traps and working through them. CBT therapy is really vital to my health and having this journaling technique really improved my life. However, now this app is NOTHING like it used to be for some reason! It is just a mood tracker now! No CBT at all. If it is there somewhere the app is so difficult to navigate that I gave up searching for the journal part of the app. I already have an excellent mood tracker that I use daily that has way more tracking options than this app (mood level in numbers that can be recorded multiple times daily, description of mood in words, food, sleep, symptoms 3x daily or overall, daily activities, productivity, and it compiles graphs and interactions) so I have absolutely zero need for this app now and will never use it again.

Best journaling and mood app!!. This app is a life saver. I downloaded it a few years ago when a pastor recommended it. I had to pay for it, but definitely worth the price. It’s only a one time fee and not too expensive. I just started using it on my phone and it’s super convenient. It helps me calm down when I’m really upset. I love that it has features to help you identify “traps” that contribute to negative feelings. It also has mental health articles you can read and quotes. Definitely recommend if you’re emotional and new to journaling!!!

Rethinking. Living in these times is hardest its ever been: hatred -non acceptance of others because of gender-sex preference-color of Skin just to name a few... and then to deal with family issues and personal issues... one loses perspective of things over time. I soon found I was thinking and acting like someone I didn't know...now that awareness scared me.... then i realized my thinking was now warped and way out of line!!! Using this app helps to center on the core feeling and issue. And the after questions offered helps to re-think and analyze in inner conflicts. And to journal helps to see and heal❤️ I live this app so far... and i just got it!!!😎

Pass. This program really caused me more grief than it was worth. The “moods” you can choose from are extremely linear and only really suggest depressed states vs elated ones and prompt thinking of yourself in those terms. Don’t bother with this program it’s definitely a PASS The developer of the program replied back to me attempting to dismiss my appraisal thinking I wouldn’t reply back but I stand by my review so I didn’t edit they original text. You get 30 synonyms for “pleasant” and likewise 30 for (nuanced way to describe displeased) nothing complicated just a linear slider towards or away from “indifferent” - meaning there is only one dimension of analysis. I don’t thinks this program is really worth downloading but if you want to try it - maybe you might find something to do with it.

Add more features to see their effect on mood. I like this app a lot and it’s very aesthetically pleasing. I do think that there are a lot of features that would help it though. It would be great if you could track hours of sleep, health, location (city), weather, and menstruation/hormones, etc. as well. Using that data and being able to graph it with your moods would give a lot of insights and be super helpful. On the SleepCycle app, you can add/edit sleepnotes (examples I have are: ate too much, exercised, stressful day, sober, had caffeine, etc) and you can see if any of that affects your sleep quality through graphs/trends. I think adding that kind of feature would make the app incredible!!!

4 stars. I give this app 3 stars because for the price of $3.99 it needs more of an emotion selection when choosing how you feel. Sometimes I have to choose an emotion I'm not really feeling but it best describes how I'm feeling at the time.. there's a lot more emotions people feel than what's on here! Also, it would be nice if we were able to add photos to our moodnotes, and get a little more in depth with the thinking traps. I feel like this app is helpful, however I feel like it can still use a few small upgrades to be more helpful. Other than that, I do enjoy this app and it's an easy way for me to document how I'm feeling and look back on it when I have time to ponder. Easy to keep up with for someone who can't keep up with writing something out by hand.

Missing something essential. I love this app a lot and I’ve had it for a couple of months now, haven’t missed a day of documenting my thoughts though! The only thing is, i wish there was a feature where we could add photos, i think it would really complete the package. I caught myself a couple of times reading through my entries and sometimes I just really wish I had inserted a picture that I can smile at for the happier entries, please do consider adding such a feature, it would really be the cherry on top for this app, because overall, this app is extremely powerful and amazing!

Good. Needs some slight adjustments. The traps list is good. The user should be able to access it with an in-app link (in the menu) so it’s always at the ready for the user as a resource and reminder. After answering the app’s questions about a moment, the user is invited to “Add/Edit” the intensity of feelings registered earlier in the record. However, there’s no way to add a Positive or a Negative feeling if all of one’s initial feelings were in the Negative or Positive category respectively. I see that as a significant oversight in design because it means that the user cannot register the change in feelings that the app’s questions might have facilitated if the user’s initial feelings were categorically Negative or Positive.

Will Moodnotes be worth your time?. Let me start off by saying that I strongly suggest this app for everyone. It works for me personally and I know that it can work for you. If you have anxiety, if you feel frustrated, feel like your in a fog, stuck in the gutters, if you feel lost, depressed, sad, unhappy with a situation, you can get out of it. And the way to get out of it is to make a change. Moodnotes is a tool. It’s a great tool that can help you get unstuck in a lot of traps. It can change your perception with the situation you are in now and will help you move forward in a positive, enlightening way. It’s a really simple, user-friendly app! This is one of the few apps where I actually leave the notifications on because Moodnotes is so useful and it notifies me about every other day to help keep myself on the right track. Great App 5 Stars haha it’s awesome! Try it for yourself and share it with your circle

This is an amazing app, could use a few improvements. I love this app, and my therapist is growing quite fond of it as well. As someone who suffers from mental disorders, this is a great app to help me visually see my highs and lows. It is also simultaneously simple yet thorough so I am not overwhelmed by using it. With that said, there are a few things I wish were included: 1. Being able to export and send a break down of our insights, trends and entries to another person (ex: therapists). In my case this would allow my therapist to review my week and decide a plan of action ahead of time, not wasting precious minutes waiting for her to read my entries for the week during my session. 2. I wish the graph was vertical (top to bottom), instead of horizontal. It would be so much easier to read. EDIT: I discovered the EXPORT function! This app is perfect for me now!! Thank you so much!! I love that it exports as a PDF, so I’m able to print it out!! AWESOMENESS!!!!! From 4 stars to 5!!

Absolutely the best app purchase I’ve made. So I’ve had this app for about four months, and I have to say that it’s one of the few things I do daily that has a profound positive experience on my mental health. The tracking is great, but the examining thoughts is really what’s made such a big change in me. Being able to analyze my thoughts and figure out why I’m feeling the way I am is what sets this apart from other mood trackers. Being able to recognize patterns does two things for me. 1) Makes me feel so much less insane and 2) Allows me to realize when I’m spiraling into anxiety or panic and stop myself. So much love and appreciation to you guys, you totally deserve the spotlight.

Moodnotes App-. The developers clearly put a lot of time and effort into this app. I own several paid mood journaling apps (imood, mr mood, moodtrack, etc)...There’s nothing wrong with them if all you need is a simple way to jot down mood. Where Moodnotes differs: UI, design, functionality are stellar, perhaps the biggest difference is how Moodnotes helps me understand my moods, triggers, positive and negative emotions, and shows when you’re using “stinking thinking”. It’s not merely a mood journal like so many others out there... it’s a “how are you...how’s your day...why...here’s an idea or two how to change response for next time” app.

Mixed feelings. This app has the potential to be really great. I have a few things I would love to change about it, though. The first being that when you write an update about your mood, it doesn’t let you scroll down when you’ve typed more than the initial allotted square. This is hard to describe so I hope you know what I’m talking about. I just can’t see what I’m typing after it gets too long. The second is additional emotions to choose from. Sometimes there just isn’t the right word for what I’m feeling on the app and I think it would be helpful to add more. Another thought I had, to make the Insights more helpful- maybe you could take words from our entries and match them to the emotions we feel that day. And if there are several days where I say the word anxious, I can see what emotions I selected and even my Sad/Happy scale per that word. I also hope I’m making sense here. Beyond all of that I am pleased with the app and I find it particularly interesting to see how I Usually Feel. Thanks for putting in your time to make a solid mental health app. I’m sure you are helping so many people.

Almost perfect for logging feeling data, but a lot of room to grow for analyzing it. Would REALLY LOVE to see a histogram or line graph type chart instead of the current mood trend chart that only shows your general happiness for the day. What would make this app perfect is if you were able to see a line graph/histogram of the feelings you are logging. Like if I want to measure my anxiety over 6 months, I’m currently not really able to easily do that unless I want to click on each day. The data the app asks you to log is great (would be perfect if you could create your own feelings and add them, or remove stock feelings). There’s a lot of room to grow in what the app does with the data you log, which right now is kind of limited.

🌹🌟please read parents and kids🌟🌹. I am a single mom and do moodnotes every morning and night with my two kids. I find this a way that I can relax and sort out my feelings and it is also bonding with my kids to see what is going on in their life. At the end of each week we like to see what each other’s moods are and we can talk to each other about how we impact each other’s mood (eg. stress levels). When I first got this app I wasn’t sure what to expect. But it is TOTALLY worth the 4 dollars. I think that every family, or person should use it

Great app, not a fan of the new updates. I’ve had this app for about two years and I’ve really liked it. That being said, they have recently started to update it in ways that I do not like. To start, I really don’t like how they took out two of the mood levels. There used to be three for happy and three for sad. My moods cannot be as easily described using only two happiness or sad levels which is how it is now. I also think the new emoji face that they created is creepy as heck and I will be keeping the old style the same as it always has been. Overall I think it’s a great app, but I’m not a fan of these new changes.

This really works!. This app is amazing! Since I started using it my attitude towards other people and tough situations is so much better. I was just on a flight leaving France and ran across a problem. The lady behind the counter was so happy with my attitude and the way I handled the situation that she gave me an entire row to myself at the front of the airplane. Then in a hotel in Barcelona I got a free upgrade to a huge room with a free minibar. Again I truly believe it was all in my attitude. Normally I get really stressed during travel and blow my worries way out of proportion. Not any more! I use this app everyday.

Amazing app!. There are lots of mood regulating apps on the market. After trying out many of them over the last year, this one has emerged As a favorite. It has clean and thoughtful design, and has enough features to be useful but stays minimal and sleek enough that you’re not bogged down by all the content and features. Excellent design! Feature requests for developers: The only feature I wish they had that’s similar to Pacifica is to be able to highlight parts of the thought and link them to specific thinking distortions. That’s the only thing I liked about Pacifica when I used it. I would also like a separate tab in the app where you can scroll through all the insights you wrote in the “insights noted” section so you can see your progress in terms of meta learnings. Thanks! Updates for more feature requests: I wish that you could click on stuff in the insights page and get to the data behind it. For example, at the bottom it says “you usually feel...” what if you could click on that and see all the times you logged entries that said that?

Quick Reveiw. I like this app and it has been very useful for me to keep track of my moods. It is especially helpful in providing data being that I am trying out different prescriptions. The features that it has, work really smoothly in my experience (I only have the free version though). Just a quick thing I wanted to note is that the app screen tends to be quite bright for me and I would love it if there was a dark mode available. It also would be nice if, in the first steps of logging a mood when choosing the activities happening in the day, there where either more options or a ‘custom’ (write/title your own activity option).

Amazing, but buggy. As someone who has had trouble journaling in a more traditional sense, this app has been a miracle. The lists of moods and thinking traps to choose from make journaling an efficient and regulated process which can be analysed easily using the app's tools. The only problem is the app has some bugs that can get frustrating. For one thing, the app seems to delete my notes, seemingly at random. I'll open the app and record a note and it'll be there - but a day later when I open the app, there will only be a mood with a blank text box recorded even though I hit 'save' and was able to access it after closing the app previously. Another bug is that the thumbprint password popup will come up on my screen directly after closing the app, and disappear after a second. If I happen to accidentally click on the popup, it will reopen the Moodnotes app I just closed. I use Moodnotes several times a day on my iPhone 6 and find it very helpful. I would consider the app perfect if only these bugs were fixed.

Helpful in so many ways!. I love this app. At first I was on fence but decided to stick with it and I’m glad I did. I teach workshops for domestic violence victims, homeless populations and people living mental health disorders, one of them being on recognizing and managing emotions. This app has given me so many great ideas and tools to talk about the subject. But I also love it because I would never teach something without having actually tried and done it myself. Amongst other things, this app has helped me name emotions and learn more about my thought processes. I would love to see more prompts when “checking a thought” or different tools and questions to answer to help work through a thought trap.

Great app so far. I have used this for about a week. I haven’t exported any data yet. I hope that I can when I do that I have the option to include/not include the typed “notes” when I try to export and print the data. I plan on sharing this with my doctor to see if my medication is working -so this would be an important feature. Also, it would great if you added: procrastination & rushed/hurried on the feelings to slide the bars 0%-100%. Great idea that I can choose, because sometimes you’re only 10% worried not 100%!! -this is also a feature that I would like to see in my data when I export it and print it out. Not just that I was calm, relaxed, stressed, sad; but what percentages I was feeling this.. will update review when I do.

Everyone should try this!. After years of virtually forcing myself to journal — trying everything from composing a Dear ______ type letter, grid-style, reminders, gamification, etc., I finally stumbled upon this app while perusing the App Store. I love the ease of use and low-pressure / low-commitment. Sometimes, I’m just not in the mood to elaborate, but it is helpful to see what my various moods are (were) at specific times of my life. To the developer: love it and thank you! May I suggest adding a few more features like the ability to upload photos/videos, which I feel would offer the opportunity for users to elaborate on the events that may be linked to their recorded mood (without having to write). Also, I’d love to be able to “share” items, like progress in other apps (like you would in social media), as I find this useful, and currently use a competitor’s app for this functionality. Finally, optimization for n iPad would make the days I am interested in actually writing much easier than doing so in an iPhone keyboard.

Like my own therapist. I’ve always liked to journal but mostly just to get thoughts out of my head and usually just once a day. This allows me not only to journal in real time as things are happening but also allows me to dig deeper. Just like I would talk things through with a therapist, it encourages me to dig deeper, assign feelings, think critically about what’s going on, and helps me squash negative thinking habits. I struggle with anxiety and depression and this helps me take a more positive outlook when I’m slipping into those negative things. I recommend this app to anyone and everyone.

Good app. I have been looking for this for a wile. I do wish it included room for grieving. I am grieving for my son. My pain is not a result of thinking mistakes. But of true irreplaceable loss. On top of all that, his shockingly greedy wife is suing us for a trust that was written to go to our bipolar sons’ younger brother. We want nothing to do with the woman. She found him on the floor in the morning and left him there for most of the day. Before she called paramedics. By the time they got there it was to late. She did this because I had refused to give her more money. My point is that some sadness and stress is situational and some is the result of thinking being skewed. Thank you for creating this app.

Change your thoughts, change yourself, change your relationships. The first side is always right until it is cross examined. This app helps you cross examine the negative thoughts that flood your mind, help you take control of yourself, and challenge the and begin the self parent. Helpful advice helps you learn how to navigate in positive waters. Tracks your patterns so you can see what negative patterns trap you, what emotions you feel. And best thing, it’s just you!! It has made me so self aware, better emotional stability, more creativity, more ease and peace, more brain bandwidth. This app is a blessing and every person who lives in this world needs it to combat everyday negativity.

So far so good. So I got this around the start of May, when I was just starting to fall back into bad mental habits. The fact that I found this app, and I’ve had a little place to write down my thoughts, or something just select my feelings, makes me feel okay. I’ve made it a priority to log daily, and it’s opened my mind and calmed it as well. Especially with my personal life and work life, I’ve been glad I’ve been able to make peace with both and move forward happily. This app is really well, and for one, I don’t know what the premium brings, but I’m fine with what I have. 10/10 Keep up the good work.

Great, but wish I could choose the language!. I downloaded the app because I was very intrigued by the concept of “thinking traps,” and I think this feature would help me a lot! However, my phone’s language is set to Spanish because I’m learning Spanish at school. This makes it pretty difficult for me to take full advantage of the app, as emotion words have many shades and connotations that are difficult for a Spanish student like me. While I really appreciate the fact that the app has English and Spanish support, it would be awesome to have a toggle button rather than the language being set automatically! I don’t want to have to switch my entire phone to English just to use this app more effectively.

I really like this app.. I have definitely become more self-aware of my moods. I have found the personal reflection aspect helpful. The data section may not be completely accurate, because I tend to log my negative emotions more than my positive ones. I would love an additional educational step that allows the user to work through steps on how to overcome their top thinking-traps, instead of reading the same thing time and again. That aspect of this app is redundant, and my reason for 4/5 stars. I also like the part where the user has the opportunity to review their trends and note individual insights.

An app worth paying for. Just like everyone else, the past year has been a real challenge. Especially emotionally. If you’re struggling with depression and/or feeling like there’s no escape from your negative feelings, this app is more than helpful. Today, I was able to find happiness and peace while severely battling my anxiety and depression. After logging and journaling in Moodnotes, I feel such peace now. It gives you beneficial articles to read based on your own personal feelings. Helps you take it a day at a time and not be overwhelmed while making some life changes to help your natural thought process. I highly recommend Moodnotes. You won’t regret giving it a try.

Really helpful. I’ve been reading Feeling Good by Dr David Burns to help me manage my depression and anxiety and while it works for me, the journaling was very tedious for me, I didn't like making paper tables and using the Notes or Pages apps to make tables was tedious and terrible. This is exactly the app I needed to make me want to take notes, it’s beautiful, simple, and makes it a hell of a lot easier to track cognitive distortions (called “traps” in this app) than checking back in the book or reading a list online until I memorize them all. This is the first App on the AppStore that Ive paid for and so far I don’t regret it at all.

Great App!!! Wish for custom feelings?. LOVE this app and love the watch feature. Only 4 stars because I wish there was a way to add in your own feelings/emotions and edit their percentage. One thing I struggle with along with my patients is finding the word for how you feel. Just wish there were more options to “add in” and have them pop up each time. Maybe with the “positive/negative” category add a “custom” column that saves your past added feelings. The feelings wheel is perfect and I know it’s used a lot across the mental health field. Maybe a quick reference to this as well (not a huge deal easy to google it). Just a thought! Still a really great app, recommend it to my patients too.

A great start. I’ve been working with my therapist for almost a year and have been using this app for about half that time. This is especially helpful for me because I’m working on being more mindful and using this as a journal allows me to easily track how I’ve been doing and remember the things I’ve done and how I felt. Just this simple change of taking a few moments to write whatever I’m thinking about and what I’m up to has allowed me to better understand myself. Plus it’s neat to be able to see the charts and the follow up questions are very good™️

No Updates in 2 Years. I purchased MoodNotes back when you purchased this app outright. Since then, they’ve gone the greedy way of asking for subscriptions. You would think that this would promote more consistent updates. Nope. Granted, the app has been invaluable in my mental health progress, but there seems little interest in making updates, so I may at some point make the break and just use Apple Health to record my moods. It just doesn’t offer the same detail (yet) that MoodNotes offers. I have asked for possible features to be added that would be beneficial to giving the information to your therapist. Nothing.

Very Useful and Effective. The Moodnotes app is extremely well-suited to its purpose and has been an important tool for me in my mental health journey. As well as using this app the way that it was intended, I have also used it as a way of tracking panic attacks, as well as a sort of journal when I’m too busy to write traditional handwritten entries. The rethinking steps this app lays out will often put my feelings in perspective, or even provides a calming and productive routine when I feel depressed or panicked. Thank you to the developers for creating such an insightful and multifunctional tool!

Very helpful, but could use a sorting system.. I really do like this app. It’s helpful for breaking down destructive thoughts and out-logic-ing my anxiety. Excellent “pocket” CBT to begin combating negative thoughts. However, the one thing that really bothers me is the lack of any real organization or separation of entries. Every entry you make is all listed in one huge page and you would have to scroll all the way to the one you want. I hate making this comparison, because I’m not trying to say this app needs to be more like a different one. But the best way I can think to say it is that it could use a system like Daylio’s. They sort by month, where every entry you make is displayed in the month it was made and labeled with the day, but you can go to previous months and see only those entries. It’s lovely, because all entries are there in the app, but they’re not all clustered together on one huge page. They’re separated into smaller pages. I think a similar system here would be such an improvement, because then entries would be much easier to find and less intimidating to look for.

Well Designed. As someone with depression, motivating myself to write down my mood and thoughts is difficult as is. Having this app with a simple interface with alerts is very helpful. Overall I find the app helpful and well designed. It would be nice if there were more ways to view the data collected by the app, like more graphing options. This is more of a wish than a negative though. My only problem is that sometimes textfields are covered by the keyboard and I can’t see what I am typing. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Handy, but limited app (and why can’t I exit?!). I really like how easy it is to track mood, feelings and thoughts. The check-ins are a breeze and as quick or in-depth as you want. PROS: - Easy, friendly interface. - Quick tips on reframing negative thoughts. Super handy for anxiety. - Fairly low-key. It doesn’t rely on annoyance or guilt to motivate you to use the app. - Ability to get as detailed as you’d like. CONS: - Have a feeling that isn’t listed? Sorry, it doesn’t count. No way to customize the positive or negative feelings! - There’s not an easy way to track the physical piece of the equation. Feeling hormonal? Suffering from a migraine? You just have to add it to your notes and hope you’ll find it later when looking at trends. - The insights section has some handy charts and lists, but it doesn’t dive as deep as it could. (For instance, it’ll highlight moods that are most common, but are they trending up or down? You can look at trends over 1 week, 3 months and 6 months, but not 1 month.) BUGS: - It is nearly impossible to exit this app by swiping up. Even if you’ve closed other apps since swiping up, it will still come back to haunt you, demanding your Touch ID. Let me close this app!

Extremely good. Extremely helpful and well-designed app. Perfectly balances detail with simplicity in the interface and leaves you with a lot of choice in how you employ it throughout your day while giving you structure when you want it. Flexible. Data is exportable, and they do a nice job protecting privacy. Prompts are not overbearing at all and are helpful. I recommend even for people who don’t think they’d like a “self help” app. It’s very practical and avoids being intrusive or really assuming anything about you...more of a very helpful self analysis tool than something analyzing you.

Seems amazing so far.. The app seems to be exactly what I was looking for. I started journaling recently on my therapists recommendation but I wanted an easier way to track my moods over time. Most of the apps I found just let you select 😃, 😐, or ☹️ for a day but I wanted to be able to log multiple times per day and have more granularity in what emotions I’m feeling. So far this app does everything I wanted and more, and the UI/UX is really nice too. I signed up for the free trial of the premium features and they seem worth it to me. Pretty reasonable price.

Amazing app. Mood notes provides a unique experience that similar apps can’t match. The interface couldn’t be easier allowing you to record your current mood with ease. I never actually payed attention to how I felt on a daily basis until I started using Moodnotes. I have actually payed attention to common trends and habits I experience in my daily life. Would love to see some new features such as sleep notes that would give users the ability to track not only how they feel, but also how they sleep. Overall great job!

In-App purchases is really a subscription. I was really excited about this app and when I downloaded it, I thought it was massively too good to be true. It said nothing about a subscription price, so I was leery, but found myself enjoying it as I logged on the first few days. And then the “7-Day Free Trial” popped up and I realized that indeed it was too good to be true. I get the need for the subscription, but I also think that should be in the product description. Or have a free version available, or at least a lessor option. I am not in a place where I can afford $30 right now, but I would be willing to pay a little bit each month. All in all, it is an amazing app. It is just not cost effective for some people who really need to use it and isn’t up front about the cost when purchasing.

THIS IS AN AMAZING APP. Other then the fact you cant do much without the premium it's amazing. I have been doing daily enters since November 2023. I like it because i can track how i feel and when i feel like im always down i can look at the app. AND YOU CAN KEEP EVERYTHING PRIVATE, all you have to do is add a password and you can add a word password incase you forget the number one and if you don't remember it you have to put in a hint to let you know what it is. I really love this app and will continue to use it 😸

I don’t think you should have to pay $1.99 for this app.... This app is fantastic! I love reflecting on my thoughts, and I love just having somewhere that I can explain what’s happening in my life. You can always look back on previous notes, and maybe even remember a better time in your life, which makes you feel a lot better in some situations! But, even though the app IS high quality, I would much rather pay $0.99 to free. There just aren’t enough features to it. Of course, I payed this amount and there is no “Membership Mechanism” which pulls you in to paying more every month to a year using perks. Of course, don’t let the price outweigh the amount of satisfaction you get from this app!
