Really great. Great app. Have had much better experience with this than previous brands I have used. Easy to navigate. Camera setup is SO easy, and navigating the app is simple and works great 99% of the time. They seem to be constantly developing the platform. I do wish there were more options for visualizing available cameras, like reordering in the list and using smaller thumbnails to be able to choose the one you want more quickly. Folders would be cool to create group “dashboards” like thumbnails in a folder so you could choose a folder as quickly move from camera to camera within that group. I would even like to see the grouping feature available on the computer app. Finally, I do hope you guys develop more options for local storage, like NVR or the ability to record to a local hard drive.

"Free Trial" is not really free!!. I've been using the free version since I bought the camera, and was considering getting the subscription. I do like the camera overall and figured i'd try the free trial for the base plan to see if I wanted to use it - it is NOT free. You get 7 days "free" but it automatically signs you up for auto-renew once the 7 days are over and they give you NO easy way to cancel the subscription so it doesn't charge you after the trial period. It prompts you to log in to the website to cancel the plan, then you have to either call or email. If you call, it's hard to reach a real person and you end up having to email anyways. Then you have to say you want to cancel three times before you ever get real help (which I still haven't gotten any real help.) They sent me instructions to cancel through paypal, but since I hadn't technically been charged yet, I can't cancel it on my own as it isn't showing up in my auto subscriptions yet. So i'm supposed to wait to get charged $40 to cancel? No thanks. What a bad business practice. They need to make cancelling subscriptions way easier like other apps do, otherwise it's just unethical.

Better Than Blink. Blink has okay quality, but you have to pay to get normal live view and that was super weird to me. The app wasn’t my favorite either. Yi does all the basics without having to pay, and the KamiCloud subscription is cheap to be able to store your footage. The video quality is great, not like the average grocery store where you can’t see facial features. The audio is clear, the speaker function is clear, the notifications are accurate and helpful. We have them for our driveway, backyard, entry way, dining room, but for our living room we use the 360 camera and I LOVE IT. Controls are simple, we can see absolutely everywhere just by swiping on the controls. The app itself is easy to use, just do some exploring on it and you’ll find all the different functions and options. They are way cheaper than Blink, too. I know Blink can link with your Ring doorbells but it doesn’t bother me. Our ring is separate, it’s not a hindrance really. It’s worth it to get these cameras in my opinion! Big bang for how cheap they are, it’s so nice having an affordable, quality security system.

Confusing and non-functional. I’ve had these cameras for about three years and they’re constantly glitching. The ‘cloud plan’ doesn’t update properly so it will show that you don’t have a cloud plan when you actually do, or it will say that your camera has already been ‘bound to another plan’ so you won’t be able to use it with the one you just bought? It will also not inform you if you already have one and accidentally try to purchase another so you end up double paying. There’s no rhyme or reason to the way the cameras connect for sync, it will constantly tell me there’s no cloud connection when I’ve bought the plan, if they go off when I’m not at home I’ll go to check on the house and it will glitch and say ‘no sd card inserted’ even though I have the cloud! I’m a millennial, I grew up with technology so there’s no disconnect on how I’m interpreting the app, it is truly just not user friendly, confusing and for the last few years is not worth the frustration

Big Security problems. I got these cameras because they could record locally to a micro SD card, supported WiFi, and are inexpensive. The app interface is pretty decent. The cloud storage is expensive, but not a concern as I will use the local storage. There is a free trial that expires but other services offer free cloud storage. The ability to rotate a camera 90 degrees in software to match physically rotating it would be ideal as I need a vertical view of one location so it shows up sideways until I view it full screen. The major red flag with this service is the 16 character maximum password length which means they are likely not hashing your password and are storing it in plain text. There is no 2 factor support. In addition they don’t connect to WiFi networks with special characters, and silently fail the setup leading you to believe they require firmware update. Changing the WiFi password lets setup continue normally once you realize what is happening. Lastly the wirecutter review says the local storage only stores six second clips with 3 minute gaps between them, but they record continuously from what I have seen.

Do waste your money buy some brand name when the quality and dependability is right here at your fingertips ‼️ You have found what your looking for even if you don’t yet know it‼️ YOU CAN THANK ME LATER‼️‼️‼️

EXCELLENT WIFI CAMERAS!!!!. I have tried several wifi cameras and I was OK with the ones I had purchased before from another brand... Until I came across the Yi cameras, placed the order for the 1080 Yi Cameras pack of 4... Opening experience was great...I was disappointed that mounting brackets didn't come with the cameras..had to order them for around $13 dollars... Connectivity and app use was flawless, over the last 3 days I haven't had a single issue with connection... I suggest to add in the description that certain micro sd card must be purchased or include it with the package (add the cost of the Micro sd card) if you don't use a high speed card max of 32g but I have tried 64g and it worked you will have issues retriving video!! YES the app is great let's you view recorded video on the camera (micro sd card) great video and two was communication hands free or intercom... The video lags 5-10 seconds from real time... Motion sensors alerts work great... Overall Great cameras!!!

Thank you for listening!. Update: Company’s new release fixed all the issues that both myself and many other customers had with the previous release. I am very pleased with the new app and its functionality. It is also a breath of fresh air to see a company listen to its customers, thank you YI Home. Below is my previous update that has been completely resolved. You are going to lose a long standing regular customer. This update is horrible. Lost so much functionality. No time and date stamp in the video. No video record feature, loads with the cloud as standard storage and you have to toggle over to SD on every camera every time. I have 9 cameras currently and 4 new outdoor cameras I was going to put up, but now I am looking at sending them back and going with another company. I don’t know how anyone thought this update was a good idea literally just go back to the previous version.

Terrible version 5.0 - updated review. The new version 5.0’s UI is horrible. I cannot see video that has been recorded in my local memory card beyond midnight (<24 hours), this is just wrong because this is MY data and MY recordings. Why have you locked away my own property? Additionally, in full screen I can’t scroll through the recording at all. Why did you take away this functionality? It seems like it’s completely less functional for no good reason. We have two Yi cameras in our home, but we will buy others if this is the type of user-unfriendliness that the software is going to force on us. Update- the company appears to have taken note of the discontent about the new UI and brought back many of the previous features that made it user friendly. Thanks for that. This review updated to 4/5 stars for responsiveness.

Terrible update. The videos of alerts were readily available and easy to scan through until the latest update has made the cameras useless. There is no access to videos from the previous day and you must now watch the entire video before you can delete it even if you know what it is. This is especially frustrating when a spider web covers even a small portion of the field of view. Every 6 minutes all night long alerts happen and you end up with a library you either can’t access as they were before midnight or you must watch the whole thing. So then the alert indicator stays on forever. The tech dept seemed to be responsive then stopped caring and responding. The hardware is good, the app is horrible. UPDATE This has been getting worse. The alert goes off and the video shows no reason. And the newest alert doesn’t show up for viewing for many minutes so if there was a reason, it’s likely too late to do anything about it. SIMPLY WORTHLESS unless all you want is a dummy camera

Cloud subscription do not work and YI fails to refund money. I purchased the outdoor camera and everything was fine after the free trial. I purchased the 3 month cloud service once and it worked fine. When my previous subscription expired, I purchased an extra 3 month cloud subscription but the app was not working properly. I was charged for a service didn't get, however Apple issued a refund. I attempted to purchase the cloud subscription one more time and the system failed again. I was charged one more time and didn't get any service. Contacted Apple again and they refused to issue a refund after showing them that I was charged. Contacted YI customer service and explained to them the issue. Showed them proof that I was charged for the subscription and they sent me a screenshoot that shows all of my purchase attempts and they showed as null or payment failed. My payment did not failed, they did. I was charged and both Apple and YI are failing to return my money for a service I paid for and didn't get.

Be aware of Kami Vision Hidden Charges. For the price this was a great low cost security camera app that we had used. However when I opted not to renew my subscription a few months ago I noticed I was now being charged for Kami Vision. I had no idea what it was until I was able to find the link connecting it to the Yi Home which is its cloud version. They were charging me $15 a month separately outside my app subscriptions!! Why am I now being charged for this if I CANCELED THE CAMERAS? The charges began when I canceled the Yi Home subscription so I know it’s separate. Once you opt to cancel you are required to continue with chat, phone or email to continue through with the cancellation. It’s all in fine print and this is how they get you if you’re not paying attention!! It’s like trying to break out of Alcatraz just to cancel this!!! I’m not a fan of this type of business practice.

I guess it’s good. For the most part I don’t have a problem with the app and camera. Except if you create an account on the mobile app using your Apple ID to sign in it won’t be an option for the pc app. Made me create a whole second account and wouldn’t let me even share the live feed with myself. So while I sort of recommend it don’t use your Apple ID if you want to use both mobile and pc apps. create a normal log in with an email or with Facebook. otherwise you’ll end up with two accounts or need to delete your first one and reset everything to redo for the pc. which means I’d have to delete my cloud account too since it wouldn’t let me sign in there either. didn’t even give me the option of registering my second camera to the first cloud account made me set up a whole second one because things aren’t very clear. So meh, use it don’t use it whatever

Don’t know why it’s so slow lately. I’ve been using these cameras for more than a year and have loved them! But lately the app is sooo slow. I googled and found an answer that the slowness for notifications was because your internet is slow - so I thought - hmm maybe that’s causing the lag in the app as well. So I did a speed test and my internet speeds are great! But my app will be loading for several minutes and either it’ll just stop loading (and never complete) or sometimes after several minutes it will pull up my cameras. Then getting into one of the cameras to watch a video is the same thing... several minutes later I’m still waiting on it to load for a 10 second clip. So half the time I can’t even check in and the other half it takes so long it’s useless. Additionally, I tried removing the app and adding it back - after signing back into my profile I can’t get to ANY of my cameras. What is happening?? I loved these cameras. Please fix whatever is causing this.

Cameras are nice. App needs work. This is a review about the app and not the camera. I like the camera but the app needs some work. First I will state the good parts. The app allows you to turn off the IR lights without turning off the IR cutoff filter. It has a 6 second cloud storage on activity detection. The camera loads pretty fast. You can add additional security via PIN number and it supports Touch ID. You can select activity area for motion detection. Now, the bad parts. The motion sensor on lowest setting is still pretty sensitive. The app only supports custom activity area for up to 2 cameras. My third camera doesn’t even have an option for activity area despite it being the same model as my other cameras. The notification icon will show old videos that are not deleted every now and then. It doesn’t support auto orientation. I can live with most of my negatives. However that first one of being restricted to just 2 cameras for activity area really renders my third camera obsolete as I get too many false positives to be useful.

So far, so good!. Just received a four-camera system (one day ahead of scheduled delivery by UPS) and had very few problems activating the first camera, with a 32mb card. Biggest difficulty was trying to download the Yi software and hook up to internet—which was not necessarily a fault of the manufacturers. The accompanying brochure (folder) could have been clearer in pointing out the various steps needed to get the system up and running—really couldn’t find most of the “settings” (adjustments and personal preferences) until got the camera and iPad keyboard software running, when I could manipulate sliders and push buttons right on my iPad. Perhaps the manufacturers could spend a few more development bucks to have a decent manual written and printed. (I just happen to know a writer/editor who could be approached about originating such a manual.). Can’t wait til I have the whole system up and running!

Upside Down Image In Landscape Mode. UPDATE: Developer says to call them so they can “better understand the problem”. I have spoken to them countless times and sent in countless support emails. I’ve also described the problem in detail in this review. If they don’t understand the problem by now, they’ll never understand it. I’m sure anyone else reading the description of the problem understands it. It’s not really that difficult to understand. I have been trying to get them to fix this for over a year but even with many updates in that time it’s still the same problem. Landscape mode only works properly when the bottom of the phone is facing to the right. If you turn the phone 180° opposite direction and the bottom of the phone is facing to the left, the image is upside down. Every other iPhone app in existence works correctly in landscape mode regardless of which direction you’re holding the phone. Other than that, the app is fine.

Detection issues - not recommended. I've been using this app and cameras for about 1 1/2 years and it's been ok at best. Recently the developers of the app updated the software to where you need to get their cloud service or, you're constantly getting notifications that someone is present when really no one is there. I've tried to set the sensitivity on low and notification on low and still getting notifications all day. I've tried to minimize the detection area and still no luck. I've tried to turn off detection zone and only keeping detection but still the same. They are pushing the user to buy their Kami Cloud service which is expensive otherwise you will be getting notifications till you just give up and turn everything off and then you only use the cameras for viewing and not for detection which doesn't make sense. I'm going to look for another app and camera system. Very disappointed with the tactics used to force you to buy their service. Not recommended at all

Black Screen — App Is Nonfunctional. The app has been completely down for almost 2 full weeks now — with no fix in site. I tried clicking on the link for app support today but now it says their IP address is also down. It’s getting to a point where it feels like YI Home is scamming their customers. I paid for these cameras and I paid for a subscription to watch back footage but if I can’t access the app at all, then that’s just money down the drain. I see on other recent reviews the developer is telling people they’re “working to fix the issues”. However, I had to come here to find that out. I mean by now, you would think YI Home would have sent an email to all their customers/users about the issues going on and what they’re doing to resolve the issue. However it’s been radio silent on their end and there’s no telling when (if at all) the app will be functional again, which is making this feel more and more like a scam.

Love it but get the problem fixed where it freezes everyone’s iPhones.. Works great for a bit… but after a few minutes in the app it will freeze our phones. We have the 12 and the 13 and both iphones freeze while using app. It has been like this for probably a year. Can we get a fix yet? Update: Now the app just freezes on startup and they completely changed the way the indoor cameras save to the SD card making it much harder to record. A year ago it was so much easier to navigate, and it logged and saved anything that moved without needing to “detect it”. Going to get rid of the 6 cameras I have and go to blink as they are much easier to use, and do not update into a worse way. Overall not happy with the updates. I just want to open the app, and be able to go right to a camera and see on the timeline when there was movement rather than getting 400 notifications regarding a plastic bag moving from a fan.

Try the kami app instead. Since day 2 of installing the 2 cameras and downloading this app I’ve had nothing but problems. Laggy app full of frozen main menu screen issues and freezing when you can finally click on which camera you want to view. Nothing more frustrating then having to close out the app time and time again, sometimes 10 times before it finally allows me to view my footage of whatever alert my cam sent me. If you have cams just for monitoring wildlife or something that doesn’t concern you with the above issues then download this crap app! For someone to pay a monthly subscription to have some piece of mind that their property is safe and secure and that they can view the live feed and their cloud on demand then this app doesn’t deliver a good service. I downloaded the kami app and it booted up faster then this app ever has but I’m not holding my breath and I’ll be looking for different cams until my subscription is up in august.

Used to be much better. I used to like this app and the cameras from this company. Unfortunately, like many other companies greed has taken over. With the latest update, you have to suffer some type of ad pedaling some kind of crap that you're not even remotely interested in. Even if I was interested, I make a mental note to not ever click “more information” simply because of having to sit, held hostage while the ad times out so I can exit out so that I may finally be able to look at my cameras which is why I’m opening the app to begin with. Imagine this; you get an alert that someone is in your house without your permission so, you get out your phone or computer to see what’s going on and time is of the essence because your home is being broken into…. But wait! You have to sit through an ad for some insurance company promising to save you money. Well while you’re being held hostage in ad prison, some guy with a hoodie and his pants around his thighs is relieving you of your electronics and cash and jewelry you have in your home. At least you’re going to save a few buck on your insurance because of this ad. Long story short; I’ve already given you money when I bought my cameras from you. Quit being so disgustingly greedy and lose the ads.

Love the features so far. So I don't do reviews... But over all I'm please with the quality of the camera and the night feature is great! And as far as the app for what I think it's main intention was for its great, I like how you can tap to make the camera center somewhere, the overall video quality us good most of the time. The sound is a bunch ehh... Needs a little work there.. Seems the sound like a to cut in and out a lot and especially if you exit the app and come back. Its sometimes unrecoverable without force closing and starting over. Not horrible but is a definite bug. The sound also cracks and fades out like a battery dying in a speaker when this happens. I'd like to ask a request and see if this could be possible. Would you be able to make the sound run in the background like other apps do for music. This would make this app even more amazing as I'm trying to open use the camera as a baby monitor. And always have my phone on me. It would be really great and very very useful! Thanks in advance! Liking the hardware so far! Definitely see potential in the app!!

Updates create issues with the app. I bought these cameras back in the end of 2017 to watch over my daughter overnight when I moved her to her own room, since her room is pretty far from mine in the house. I never had a problem with keeping the app open all night on a spare phone and being able to see and hear her anytime either I woke up throughout the night or she cried. I continued to use the cameras for this same purpose now with my son, and didn’t have any issues initially, However, the most recent updates to the app now make the app shut down after a while and when I wake up my phone screen is off and the app is closed, or I wake up to hearing my baby screaming wildly, for God only knows how long before I notice, because the app is closed for some unknown reason. I would have given a 5 star review previously, but this glitch is making me consider buying a different brand camera cause I need something that will stay on all night without issues.

These are the worst. These were excellent when first bought so we purchased 12 total. What a waste and tons of frustrations. After about year or two, they have become useless. Especially during times you need to see what’s going on. We would have people show up at our door and the camera would say it’s offline. So then I loaded the software of 2 other apple devices to figure out if it was my phone or network or camera. One phone would show offline, another show the live feed another just buffer. It was a crapshoot on which device would show. A few more yrs down the road I started to see other cameras live feed instead of the correct live feed. It was happening on almost every camera. I emailed support but after a month of them doing nothing I gave up. I tried to post the issue in the community and they blocked my post. So they obviously know that what I’m experiencing should never happen. I have never posted a review but since they keep forcing me to click on a box to review their product I just decided to post the truth. The picture quality is great, far better than most . It’s not my devices as I have tried many and I even put in a separate network to rule out that or my isp of which it still occurs. They are worth nothing if your getting robbed or whatnot because they are not consistent. Don’t waste your money and energy it will just get you frustrated.

Borderline Scam. The camera and service itself are just ok, but there is no customer service department. It may be 1 guy at most that occasionally checks his email. They have a phone number that plays music for 2 minutes then hangs up on you. I have called countless times throughout there there posted customer service hours for 2 weeks and never, NOT EVEN ONCE, had anyone ever answered. They automatically sign you up for auto renewal and you are unable to turn it off yourself. When you go to cancel subscription it prompts you to reach out to customer service to cancel and even makes you click “I understand.” Joke is that you can’t reach customer service. No one answers the phone, the bot just tells you no one is there then pushes you to email, and with email they just keep sending the same one over without solution. At this point I am still on auto renewal….i have received the same 3 emails about how to cancel my subscription, I told them that the app says it has to be done from there end, I get an email back saying that they cannot change their Apple subscriptions, I send an email back with screenshots and (for the millionth time) begging them to just cancel my subscription……no response. I have had to disconnect my payment method to avoid their auto renewal. After this is current one is up, I will no longer be a customer.

Watchful Eye. We have a few of these cams in rentals that are far away. We set up thermometers and other devices so we can see that all the utilities are functioning such as temperature in the winter if the heat stops, we can get there before pipes freeze. Also check for flooding and storms. These have been very reliable over several years. Occaisionally a quick power flux will send. Static signal to the cameras and they will need resetting, but a complete power failure does not interfere with operation as they start back up fine. The indoor cams we have cannot be used to look outside as they will overexpose and not correct, so we added outdoor versions and they have worked fine both indoors and outdoors day and night. We have 4 brands of remote cameras and these have been the most reliable and also very easy to set and reset. All brands seem vulnerable to those short power flux static corruption, not just these. A UPS seems the only solution at this time.

Money grabbing, ad spamming app.. I’ve had these cameras for 4+years and I’ve got 14 of them and now all I get is ads popping up which I gotta wait to play before I can skip it like it’s some crap spam game! Remove these bogus ads! We paid for cameras to work not cameras at a cheaper rate so you could spam us with ads everytime we use the app and view the app! No I don’t want your temu ads or cloud storage ads! I wanna look at the cameras I paid for! It’s bad enough your motion alerts are all garbage! Don’t advertise smart motion alerts like face detection human detection…. But they charge extra for it after you already bought the cameras! That’s false advertising!!!! All these cameras do is send our bogus motion alerts!!! Probably a another way to cash grab spam ad you… cause you get the alert and you check the app… guess what pops up but ads! You know they get paid by view right! Total garbage scum buisness practices!!! I will be removing my cameras and buying another product that does what they claim and without ads!

Decent camera for the price. It is a great camera for the price point. The images are clean and clear. The ability to save images to an SD card or to a cloud (with a minimal monthly/yearly premium as well) is a great option and one that makes this an attractive camera for many different people's needs. I like that it can pan & zoom and is quite responsive to controls. It starts recording a few seconds prior to the event so that the full event can be seen and/recorded if necessary to save it. Depending on your plan (we are on the least expensive cloud plan) & we are only be able to retrieve/record the event onto our phone for 7 days. Then it's gone. While you'd figure if some big event like a burglary happened you'd save the data right away but if someone wants/needs documentation of events for long periods then make sure to use an SD Card or save the events immediately or pay for the premium cloud plan. It has lots of options. It has night vision, hd or sd and auto which intelligently switches to the best recording option for the images & the current lighting. My favorite feature is the time lapse video. It has the ability to create neat time lapse videos on the images it captures. One could have a lot of fun with it. All in all I highly recommend for the minimal cost.

Cannot access my cameras due to advertisements. I had an emergency in front of my house and wanted to see right away. I went to the app and opened it immediately. An advertisement showed up. I could not find the button to remove it. I had to close out the app and restarted, and another advertisement showed up. Several seconds were wasted where I wasn’t able to look at my camera while this guy was in front of my house messing with my car. Another time when it wasn’t as important I went to my camera and the advertisement again would not go away. I closed the app and restarted it about three times and finally gave up during that time. So I guess if you’re not using the Kami cloud and sending them money every month. Then they’re going to inconvenience you with their camera service

Thank you. My mother was terminally ill. I would worry so much while I was at work not knowing if she was safe or needed help. Also, most of her children and grandchildren lived in Alaska and, even though they visited as much as they could, there was no way to know when she would pass. We are very close and my mom was very much loved by all. When my friend at work heard of my situation she told my of your product. I received it super fast, was surprised I got 2 cameras, was blown away by the ease of setup and my nights away from home were no longer stressful. Then I realized I could share the link to the camera with the family in Alaska and suddenly we were connected. That in itself was so incredible but your company did not charge my family. We had 9 shared links which allowed over 20 people be involved in our mom’s daily life and even share in her last moments including her last breath. Your product and company is so wonderful and we will continue to spread the word of you! Thank you from all of us!

Peace of mind for low cost. I’m glad I have these. They have really Lear picture quality and are so easy to set up. The night vision is even really good. I like that I don’t have batteries to replace or recharge. The app has a good amount of setting features so you can customize the sensitivity, the microphone and speaker functions, set up times for the motion alerts to be on/off, etc. It also allows me to share my cameras so that other family members can view live footage and get alerts if you give permission. I wish the motion alerts were longer than 6 seconds. The motion alerts definitely work great (and sometimes are too sensitive, but that’s adjustable) as they pick up headlights in the street that shine in my front window, my pets entering a room, a squirrel on my deck, etc. We recently added micro SD cards to our cameras and that allows us to go back and review a timeframe where I want to see more than a 6 second clip. I have one camera facing out a window and it works great during the day. However, at night, the glare from inside decreases picture clarity significantly and makes the motion alerts sorta pointless since it detects all the movement inside the room instead of outside in the yard. It might be better to buy an outdoor camera if that’s what you plan to use it for.

Impressive clarity. I’m very impressed by the quality of the video this camera has. We got the YI Dome camera as a gift mainly to use as a baby monitor. Impressed how super easy it is to setup. No instruction manual but I assumed the app would guide me. However other non-tech savvy people may have issues knowing how to get started. When I looked up the price to order another for the baby’s room I couldn’t believe how affordable this camera was. I paid $165 for a baby monitor and the quality of the video isn’t as clear or colorful as the YI Dome. Very happy with this product. I haven’t tried the night vision yet but noticed the intercom is pretty loud & clear. I noticed a lag in the video by a few seconds and same with the audio. However I’m just using this for the baby so I can watch him with our babysitter while I’m at work. This puts my mind at ease. I’m already ordering more cameras for the home as we have a new baby. I’ve been meaning to also get a new action camera & after seeing the easy setup & quality of the YI Dome, I look forward to trying the YI 4K Action Camera as well. Looks like I’m a new YI Fan.

App gets worst with every "update". I was an early adopter of Yi cameras and have seen the growth through the years. However, the app has gotten annoying. At first, when opening Yi Home app, I would be blasted by Yi's ads telling me to subscribe to their cloud services or new products. Then they added a static banner on the main screen advertising cloud services and what not. In the latest update, I am getting full screen ads for irrelevant things that I have to X out before it would take me to the main screen, where Yi would advertise their cloud services. Seriously, who else does this? I have Nest, Wyze, Eufy and tried others like TP-Link. Nobody else that I have used / tried put a static banner advertising their cloud or new products on the main devices page. They sure as heck do not put random advertisements in their app that show up at the start; making this feel so cheap and spammy. The full page of random ads was the last straw. I am done with this brand.

SUPER cams. I am amazed at the quality of the cameras, the various settings for the cams and the cloud service. I had issues with my internet, yet the backup memory cards were uploaded once I was back on line. Changing your internet password requires you to physically reset and then rescan each camera. I thought this was a big disadvantage, however I now realize it is actually better security. Only pain would be if installed cams required a ladder to reach them. NOT being able to delete the videos from the cloud is also a GREAT security feature. Haven’t tried the last update, but hopefully the ability to fast forward/pause the playback was or will be added. I realize that we all want everything for very little price. Not having this feature obviously did not affect my rating. These cams, the app, and customer service (especially Drew and Tim) are all outstanding. Thank you!

Wonderful!!!. My father has stage 6 Alzheimer’s/dementia and has been living with me for 5 1/2 years. Things are very stressful and difficult most days….. and the sleepless nights are aplenty!! I hear a noise…. I have to check on him. Outside noise or him…. Can’t tell…. Gotta go check. Nighttime….. is he just moving around and jabbering in his sleep or is he attempting to get up??? Gotta get up and go check. This wonderful app not only gives peace of mind but the freedom to get through a load of laundry without having to “go check” on him… because now I can see he’s fine. I can even talk to him to let him know I’m on my way and to stay put! This was such a blessing! It even works when I go outside! It wasn’t overpriced either! Very affordable! Thank you!

Doorbell cam is unnecessarily useless. I’ve been using these cameras for years, the motorized HD indoor cameras are excellent. The app works excellent. However, I purchased their doorbell camera when it first came out, was so excited as I was waiting for it to become available. It worked fine for about a year. Then one day it randomly lost connection with my network. I couldn’t get it to reconnect. After some internet research I determined the problem is that the camera is a 2.4ghz device and my cell phone is a 5ghz device. My wifi router is dual band so all my devices connect no problem. In order to get the doorbell camera back on my network my cellphone has to be 2.4ghz but there’s no way to get my cellphone on the 2.4ghz frequency. So after a year of use my doorbell camera is now completely useless. Very upsetting. Apparently, the only fix is to set up two separate networks, a 2.4 and a 5ghz, so I can force my cellphone onto the 2.4ghz network - just to pair the device. First, that’s alot of work for someone who doesn’t really understanding IT, and second I’m not reworking my entire network just to accommodate setting up this one device. I bought a dual band router so I didn’t have to worry about this. Seems to me like Yi needs to step up their game and figure out a workaround as lots of customers are having the same issue. I’m strongly considering abandoning all my yi cameras and switching to Ring. What a waste of time and money. Come on, Yi… figure this out!

Used to be great. Well since the app keeps asking me to review still here goes, I used to love these cameras. I’ve had them for 3 years, and bought many of them. A four pack, 2 moving cameras and 2 outdoor cameras plus a few more. However the app has turned into a desperate plea for more money. With ad after ad trying to get you to buy the premium version which is mostly just them giving you back the features that were included and free 3 years ago. They also deleted my profile and I had to create a new one and when I logged back in and got my cameras hooked up again I lost my ability to watch the 6 second playbacks. When I emailed them for help they said any accounts that were created prior to (I forgot the date but less than a year ago) lost the ability to view the 6 second clips and the only feature you have is the live now, essentially making the cameras useless. If they change the way the app works and allow us back the previously free ability to watch the clips I will change my review.

App and hardware have really declined. Ive been using Yi for years, but within the last few years it has become really bad. I have FIVE cameras on the front of my house. FIVE. All five collectively failed to capture a porch pirate. The reason I have five cameras is because the cameras and the app are so unreliable, my hope is that one of the five will capture an event when needed. It says a lot when five cameras fail. Problems encountered were: The motion recording didnt trigger. Motion tracking detected the wrong thing, cameras turning themselves backwards for literally no reason, poor wifi reception, meanwhile other hardware makes connections at further distances. Unreliable cloud recording storage. UNRELIABLE DOWNLOADS, and that’s a big one - literally any notifications on my phone cause the download to fail. There was a point in time when Yi met my needs and did well, but that was many years ago, and the last few years have gradually gotten worse.

Dishonest Company. As other reviewers have stated, this is a dishonest company I could never recommend doing business with. I signed up for the 7 day free trial of cloud storage after purchasing a Yi outdoor camera, and on the 6th day I decided to cancel my subscription as I didn’t really find it useful and the subscription fee was way too high. However, unlike on most apps where you can just cancel your subscription yourself on the app instantly, Kami takes you all the way through the cancellation process and then at the end states you have to “confirm” your cancellation with an agent. Okay, but why?? Anyway, you are given three options for this: via the Live Chat feature on the app, via a phone call or via email. Well, the Live Chat feature and the phone call don’t work because on both there are “no available agents” which has actually been the case for days now. So your only option is email, which they basically ignore. I have no other alternative but to assume this is a deliberate ploy to make cancellation almost impossible so they can continue to take your money. Sure enough, they have taken $108 from my account and I am still no closer to getting this resolved with Kami because……guess what?……there are no agents available to talk to me. I’m in the process of disputing this charge with the bank but I am beyond angry at this whole process, which amounts to fraud in my opinion. Avoid these cowboys like the plague.

Reinstall. Also having the black screen, app will not load after second to last update. The new update from yesterday didnt fix it. EDIT: Developer told me to try reinstalling the app, this fixed my black screen issue. Thank you for responding to my review quickly. I’ve been using this camera for almost five years now to keep an eye or ear on my kid while he’s sleeping and I’m downstairs. It’s always worked really well until this one issue recently where the app screen was solid black after an automatic update I presume. Reinstalling fixed it. Five stars for the long life span, motion and sound detection, developer support, and peace of mind I have while I’m away from my kid. Thank you. Only issue I have is the camera makes repeated clicking noises when the sun starts coming up, but I just turn off the camera in the app when that happens. Must be something to do with the night vision.

YI Home Review. Honestly I never needed a camera until I got my dog. I’ve only ever owned 2 but in comparison of the two, I found that the YI HOME security camera is a lot more smoother working than the other camera. The sound is clear, the video is clear, and I never have a problem hearing the other side of the camera whether it be my roommate speaking through the camera or me trying to calm my dog down a bit and hearing his barks in between. The mic to hearing switch is very smooth and easy to work with. I appreciate being able to turn on and off my camera through the app itself and that I can customize certain details to my preference like the name for the camera being used, what activities I want to notify me. And one of my favorite features being a slide through the timeline of events to see what had occurred in case you weren’t looking at the camera.

GREAT CAMERAS. I can give a real review and an honest one because I have been using these cameras for over a year and I love theme. They have great video + night vision and the two way intercom is so handy for when I’m at work and need to quickly say something to someone in my home. I have theme in every room of the house up in each corner which covers most of the room and also two out front, one above the porch roof aimed at the street and one above the front door aimed at the porch. They have motion sensors as well as a load beeping alarm that u can set to go off when motion is detected. You would expect to pay way more for such quality cameras but they deliver the right stuff for the right price and I can’t complain about that. I use the ye 1080 p home cameras and the ye out door cameras but they have many other choices. Easy set up and install. (hang- plug-sync-play) or u can just set theme up on a table or night stand whatever u like. The app allows u to monitor All your cameras in one spot and with the cloud service u can always go back and see what u need to see. They also have a memory card slot so if u don’t want to pay for the cloud service u can just install the card and call it a day. They also hook to your smart devices like Alexa and google. Thank u YE AND I HOPE THIS REVIEWS HELPS SOMEONE OUT THAT WAS NOT SURE.

New update is complete garbage - forced to buy cloud. The new update to the App is super frustrating. I’ve never had a problem saving recordings to the SD card, and now when I try to play back it says “no videos for this day” and then 30 min later there is video for the entire day available. Or if I watch playback and try to rewind the video or fast forward it doesn’t respond and is stuck on the original “motion tracking” activity in the alerts and I can’t control rewind or fast forward. I just bought my second camera a few weeks ago and this new app upgrade makes me want to return it because it’s useless if I can’t even watch what is happening besides a 10 second clip. Before the upgrade, things were great, slightly glitchy app and my camera would freeze periodically and need to be unplugged. But now, not being able to watch back on the recordings is kind of a deal breaker and I refuse to be forced into paying for “cloud storage” when I have a SD card with plenty of storage. Ive had my 1st camera for over a year and never had to pay for cloud storage and relied solely on the SD card. This seems pretty sneaky to remove the SD storage option to try and force people into paying for cloud storage. Not cool. And after reading other reviews, seems I’m not the only one considering purchasing a different brand and returning my camera. Wrong move on Yi’s part. You just lost a ton of customers.

So far so good. Just received my set of four cameras. It was pretty easy to set up. Everything went smoothly. The app walks you through the set up process of each camera. So far everything is in working order. For an inexpensive set of cameras, the picture quality is very good. The only issue I find is the speaker in each camera. If you try to talk through it it’s pretty quiet. One drawback to these is there’s no way to mount them on a wall. So you need a flat surface to put them on. There are mounting brackets sold separately but I will wait to make sure the cameras work properly for a while. The power cord do have length to them but they could be a little longer. I will give five stars for now but will update later after some time goes by to see how they’re holding up. At this point, I would highly recommend.

Device time and date does not rotate on iPad.. Previous versions operated properly, but about 3 or 4 updates ago, a bug was introduced that prevents this. I like to watch TV while watching this, and the video will not go into landscape mode. I emailed support, and they suggested reinstalling the app. I did that, but the problem persists. I checked other iPads in the house, same issue. The funny part is that Yi support sent me an email asking me to rate their support. What support? You did nothing to solve my problem. If this problem is not resolved, I will throw out my yi camera’s, and buy something with support that is actually useful. On a positive note, the cameras are clear, the interface is OK, but not great, and having an mini SD card slot to hold video is a great feature. With a better support team, this camera system could be a winner. I am slightly concerned about Chinese ownership, considering China’s behavior recently, so if things get worse between our 2 countries, I may dump them anyway, due to security concerns.

Great camera could be better. I love the outdoor cameras and have several on our house as well as some Yi cams inside. The outdoor cameras will beep at a person walking near them and is a great safety feature as it lets the person know there is a camera looking at them. The only downside is the expensive cloud storage and the issues I had setting up cloud storage for more than one device. I have about 10 of these and would need to have 10 different accounts to set it up properly. Maybe this is corrected now but when i tried it was as stated above. I have had one outside camera fail but it still lasted nearly a year outside in a very rainy area and fully exposed to sun. There is NO IPAD app and it is very annoying that I cannot view the cameras on my ipad or computer. Other camera manufacturers are catching up with Yi! Such as Wyze and have surpassed them in the software category. I still like the Yi! Cams but there are issues that make me want to find something better.

Long time customer. Used to be happy but not any more.. I have had a Yi camera for several years now and the camera is great, it’s the software and all the changes over this last few months that has made me change a 5 star rating down to a 1 star rating. The software has changed from allowing users to view a live feed plus 6 second snippets of recorded past feeds for 7 days to just viewing the live feed. Which of course renders the point of having the camera useless since most people don’t just sit and watch the live feed. They have also disabled the use of using the sd card to play back the 6 second snippet videos when motion is detected. They say they are in the process of pushing an update to allow users this feature again but I still cannot view any prior videos. I get they want you to purchase a cloud subscription but to not tell their customers they are disabling the sd card and make you think there is something wrong with the camera or the sd card is pretty poor customer service. I can view the videos from the sd card on my computer so I know there is nothing wrong with the card but it’s quite inconvenient. Not to mention the point is to be able to view both the live feed and the recorded snippets through the app on whatever device you use.

Keep getting issues. I have had my cameras for over 7 years, loved them as they did what I needed them to do, I did not have to pay a monthly fee as I could purchase a SIM card to view recordings for the past 7 days. However for the pass 7 months, that has changed, I felt harassed into purchasing a monthly plan for a cloud package that did what I was already getting. However, since I opted to not purchase said offer, the app started logging me off weekly so I had to log back in to see my alerts. Then the app went blank and I could no longer log in, I had to delete the app and reload, now I just get a logo and no view. I purchased my cameras to do a service, they were not cheap and now I have something that requires me to pay monthly in order to use it, but that was not disclosed when I purchased them. I tried to look for a number to call, no such number can be found. Buyers beware!!! Please do your research as you are lured into these services and then held hostage in order to use them.

So far so good. So far I’ve set up 3 of 4 cameras. The process has been fairly intuitive and easy. Don’t forget to update each camera once connected. The build is sturdy and the articulating pieces allow for almost infinite positioning. A good field of view. Pictures are clear, albeit there is a noticeable delay and a choppy looking picture. BUT, for our purposes, the clear view is more important than the frame rate. These work as designed. The cords come with the USB/two-pronged outlet adapter, or you can simply use the USB connection in a hub. The end that plugs into the cameras is the micro-USB type. The cord is about 6’ long and works for us at each location. If you need more distance from the power/outlet, then you’ll need to purchase longer cables separately. REMEMBER, micro-USB on one end, and a typical USB connection on the other. I’m overall very satisfied. I’m going to look into a cloud account with Yi so we can see multiple cameras simultaneously and see what other benefits come with a full account. At present, we can only choose one camera to view at a time.

Let down by the constant advertising in-app. Nice app and product but I’m let down by the constant advertisement when opening the app even though it’s just a few seconds. Is there a way to disable it completely. I feel it’s unfair that we are forced to see the ad when we have already paid and bought the product.

Latest ios app is pathetic. Everything was working fine before the YI Home app update. The new user interface on the iOS is pathetic. Now there is a horizontal grey bar on the top which takes most of the view. Secondly SD Card playback doesn’t work correctly. It is a hit and miss. Especially when you are on a different network. Please bring back the old iOS application. It was perfect.

App not working after updating to iOS 16.5. App was great years ago when we can view all full length recorded videos In microSD, until that greedy cloud PAYWALL roll out. Hardware still good but shame on the software buggy iterations after iterations of updates. Get rid of that paywall limited view barrier and Yi Home will get good reviews!

Cloud back up disappeared and support is terrible. They updated the app, my cloud back up subscriptions disappeared and then I went round and round with the support team before I just gave up and cancelled the subscription. Wasn’t worth my time to try and get it resolved or refunded. Video footage is also not timestamped which can be annoying.

Better resolution camera. The app is quite usable, however it would be great to have the option to purchase a far better resolution camera which can recognise vehicle number plates. I would happily pay a higher price for a better performing camera which works with the YI Life app

Good enough app. My only criticism is that I wish there was a way u could see the footage when closing the app. Ie having it in a small screen on ur phone while using other apps.

AVOID!. Constant ads just to try and see what’s on a video camera you paid for! No hood in any emergency, typical Chinese company trying to make the most out of their consumers!

Needs an iPad version. App is fairly reliable, however, really needs a native iPad version. At the moment it just scales the iPhone app which negates the need for HD as image quality is lost. Video is slightly distorted as well as it's not properly scaled.

App is not working after updated. I had previous versions of this app and was happy even some times was not working but now is not working at all. Very disappointing

Good camera, sub-par service. Camera quality is good and works reasonably well. However the app has issues - I made an accidental purchase due to a glitch, and customer support was difficult to work with and slow to respond. It took 3 weeks to get an answer to a relatively simple billing issue. The issue is resolved now but the situation left a bad impression on me - I’m not sure if customer service is lacking staff or resources but Yi needs to focus on that if they want to be a leader in this space.

Can’t delete videos. Latest update seems to have removed the ability to delete video leaving me awith a long list of small videos can’t tell which ones are the important ones.

It was a good app. It was working well. Now the company push you to buy cloud storage plan cost over $120 per year. Without it it seems cannot even replay the motion detection video chips stored on the SD card.

Time setting. Next update can you please change the setting so we can set the default time for the camera.

Nothing but crashes. This app crashes on launch - even on the latest version; what good is functionality when app never works? Are these developers ignoring feedback?

Very hard to cancel. These people kept replying to my emails with counter offers and all I wanted to do was cancel a service. Not happy with the quality, length of 6 second videos. Also one of camera always keeps losing connection at every use so waste if time to set up every day. Use your own SD card probably better. Cloud service not good. Customer service worse as they refuse to cancel. Just go to Apple subscriptions and cancel from there. You do not need to engage with them. Not happy!

Bug?. I don't know what happened but this app keep getting worst and worst.. stuck at first loading screen, fail at loading the camera, crashes.. every time that happens, need to be completely removed and re-install all over again. Not only that, some features are not perfectly working (detection is not detecting the events) and some features is not even available (such as, got no option for recording 24/7 non-stop) Please, you guys used to be one of the best

Use Wyze instead. Used to be great, but now everything is getting slowly pushed behind a paywall. Vehicle or person detection, watch a longer playback of an alert, and I also used to be able to use the watch multiple cameras to see all my cameras at once until the newest update put that behind a paywall too. Plus, I get a big ad pop up every time I login now trying to convince me to upgrade to their stupid Kami cloud spam. I would never recommend this product anymore and would definitely go with Wyze instead of this now trash brand.

Cannot Sign In with Apple. App returns Login failed, unable to get your account info. This happens when I click "New users" after clicking on "Sign In with Apple". I am unwilling to share my email address by signing up directly with the app.

Camera stops working everyday. For some reason my indoor camera stops working every single day at 9.29am Melbourne Australia time. You hear it actually click and then stops working. The only way to fix it is to unplug and plug back in. The fun part is, 5 out of the 7 days there’s nobody home at this time to reset it. So it stays off ALL DAY!!! What’s the point of having it? If you’re in Australia, get the Kmart Anko ones. We have the doorbell as well and it’s brilliant!! And free to access all your vision!!

Great app. Work perfectly with the camera purchased.

App no longer works. Use the app for few times and it stops functioning (stuck on loading). Only fix is to delete the app, reinstall and it works for few times, before being stuck on loading again. Basically all cameras can’t be accessed… Frustrating

Absurdly obstructive ads. With one of the new updates you now can’t event react to notifications about movement detected without going through the the very intrusive advertisement screen. It is even worse because the link letting you view pathetic 6 seconds of recording so small that it might take several taps to work. And after seeing a recording you’ll be nagged again with a push to buy cloud storage. The best user experience ever.

Dodgy marketing strategies. The app forces you to buy Kama subscription. Even I selected use local storage, it will sometime show the SD card icon for you to check the footage. Majority of time it will show cloud with short clips to trick you to buy subscription Loading time is horrible, my internet is NBN so don’t blame on connection

App keeps crashing!. Used to be great and cheap but now too expensive and unstable really disappointing, I keep deleting the and reinstalling the app as it crashes at the loading screen.

Cannot see Mainland China location. No longer can see my cameras as it wants me to login and can no longer select Mainland China as location.. every other Locations doesn’t show my cameras anymore

Outdoor camera is good; app awkward to use. The Yi Home app is awkward to use especially to manage subscriptions. How come there are no annual plans available via the app in Australia?? When viewing footage from the cloud, can we please have the date/time stamp showing on the screen?

Latest update is terrible - most of the time app won’t open. Latest update for YI home is terrible, 9/10 the screen just stays on the launch page and won’t open to the camera or if it does it says camera offline but it isn’t! Very disappointing

Cameras gone after app update. After app updating, registered camera has gone. I will need to take my cameras down and add them into this app again. Can you update app without doing this annoying process?

Keeps asking log in info. I need to re enter log in information all the time to use it

Very effective and good product.. Easy to use and install. Maybe they just need to add more info in the specs and manual instructions.

Downgraded Alerts. Yi have just done an upgrade to the app that said it was to ‘fix a few bugs’. Yeah right. They’ve downgraded the alerts function so you can now only see today’s alerts, not even last nights. You have to buy the cloud subscription for this now. Arrogant behaviour. Not what I paid for when I bought the camera.

Crap. Great update black screen wonderful Nothing works at all way to go !! Seriously?

Broken. Now when I launch the app I get a black screen. Nothing more. Please fix!

Instead of becoming better, service became poor. I bought this camera a long time back and loved it. After using it, I recommended this product to 100s of my collegaues and friends but after the updates , for the slightest thing, you now push your customers to buy cloud service, made it a worst option and i took back my recommendation and I am so happy that none of them ended up buying this product. A big dissapointment!

Avoid. I LOVED these cameras. I bought 5 of them for our home. They were perfect to keep an eye on the critters when we were gone. I have been avoiding the update for some time and at some point, my app was updated. The new playback is horrific. I can still see the playback from my SD card, but if I put my camera to full screen aka to see the entire captured video, I can’t look at the saved SD footage. The update makes the app look juvenile and childish, and is now more difficult to navigate because there are more steps. I will be replacing my cameras based on this app update alone.

Why did they add publicity? Very annoying. This app was working OK for many years but they had the bright idea to include ads at every launch. Now the app is freezing and I’m losing time skipping ads all the time. Looking for alternatives….

Avoid.. Had these for probably 5 years and never had any major issues until recently. You can no longer see thumbnails or previews of notifications/alerts. You have to Manually sit and watch all of the footage to look for something that happened. Don’t recommend them to anyone anymore.

Worst update ever. They removed all the useful functions and force you to subscribe. They only care about $$. Worst update ever, bring back the old options. I am looking for other camera options now and I am never going to recommend this camera to anyone. Whoever updated the app must be fired!!!!!!

Do not buy this unless you want a monthly fee.. So before Kami incorporated Yi you could read your SD card and had 30 days of viewing plus 6s previews on notifications. Now those are hidden behind a paywall. SD card is useless, only 24hrs of 6s clips on motion detection now work without the paywall and you see nothing in 6s. Anyone want some useless tech? Got some cameras to give away!

Trash app now. Turned into such a garbage app with ads and never loads

Used to be great now just pushes sales. I’ve had these cameras for 5+ years and they were great in the beginning. Reasonably priced, had SD card slots, easy to set up, could view multiple screens at the same time, free updates, app worked well etc. Now all they do is try to push their paid subscription even when you use a SD card…. They want to charge for playback on your own memory card… (EDIT: they stopped this with the new update) Any new features they have are only for subscription members. They want you to pay to view multiscreen when you didn’t have to before. Overall has gone downhill with the constant trying to nickle and dime over every little function and the app is slow to load. EDIT: WORSE now they have added ADS when you open the app on top of it taking forever to load

Ads. Not impressed that a product I paid for and app I have had for 5 years now has ads everytime I open it. I shouldn’t have ads when I paid for this!!!!

Very disappointed. Do not buy. Why are you limiting access to my SD card to 1 day only?. What a stupid decision. Do not buy these cameras as they force you pay monthly fees, and why do you need SD in this camera?

Buggy, full of ads, freezes. I am going to replace this! :(. The UI was good. Last few updates have been buggy, freezing and full of ads before you can even load up the UI to watch what’s going on… so you miss what you might of wanted/needed to see. There are Way better options out there that are better. Steer clear of this interface as the last 5 or so updates have sucked really really bad. You have been warned. The reviews are real. Too bad.

Playback features got removed. New update pushes for cloud which you have to pay. Very limited on what you can do now. You can maybe see up to two or three days of history and you can’t select from calendar anymore, you need to slide through the time the last to see them.

No longer records on SD. I have had the Yi Home Camera for a few years and the recent “update” no longer allows an SD card to record video. Effectively making this camera useless - do not buy! You are forced to purchase online Cloud storage options

New update is garbage. Please resort back to previous version. Yi needs to stop trying to push these new updates. The last version worked perfectly, stop trying to pull us into subscriptions and releasing these garbage updates. You went back to the previous version last time you tried this, I hope you decide to do the same this time or you’ll be losing me as a long time purchaser of your cameras.

Yi April 2023. Since January 2023, these cameras are CR@P. Connectivity issues, camera not detecting SD card and on top of everything you need to pay in order to see what is on your sd card that’s apparently not detected. Real piece of garbage

Version 6.1.1 - black screen. Ever anise this update 2 days ago I get more solid black screens then I do security footage. When I try to open the app or click on an viewing I just get this black screen the majority of the time. So frustrating when you pay for a service and don’t get it!!

If it fails after many years of use , delete and reinstall app. If you are getting black or white screen on the app, after many months/years of use, just delete the app and reinstall as a new account. You will have to connect each camera again

Garbage. Used to be good Now it has ads which make you wait to see the feed and the app freezes. Don’t recommend.

Worst type of app. The only reason I bought 2 of these cameras was the SD card recording feature. Pretty dirty of YI to render this feature useless on the last update. DONT BUY THIS CAMERA OR APP until they fix it. YI is holding your camera hostage by charging you to see your own SD recording. This should be illegal!!!

Camera Connect. The connect easily. The quality is good for the price. But the software is lacking. The Mac version, if you want to show more then one camea they are displayed in landscape mode by Vertical not Horizontal. There is no way to rotate them for viewing. A real pain.

Update is horrible. V5 upgrade removed play back function in full screen and record function for alert. Older version software is much more user friendly. Have used this camera for a few years, it was good until now. I am thinking to buy a different one now.

The new UI is worse. You can barely understand anything like activity times and history. It defaults to a buggy cloud view instead of the sd card view. Basically a huge downgrade of the app. Reverse it back!

App issues. Lately my app keeps on crashing!!! I have to delete the app and download it over and over again for it to work….

Ruined the playback and streaming interface. Update version 4.4.0 - you reverted back to original playback UI but it’s still extremely buggy. Please go back and fix this. Please revert back to your original settings. You’ve ruined the UI with the green and black - which makes it hard to see at night time. Also 80% the time it doesn’t play anymore. Using an iPhone 11 Pro.

Not Good Business. I agree with the other review that the recent update prevents you from using the playback feature which came with original purchase. It is not right to make an update that reduces features and virtually ruins the use of the camera and features that we advertised and paid for. Not a happy customer!!!!

New update sucks!!. Wish I could go back to previous versions. Not being able to see the live time clock is a horrible change. SD card playback also doesn’t show the exact time when rewinding back which is a horrible change. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. Previous version was great as is. Don’t understand why we are no longer given the option to simply view the running clock/time. Please please fix!!!

Ads play before you get to look at your camera feed. Used to love this camera, now ads play every time you open the app - super annoying and I will no longer be recommending this to people!

Shady business. Recent update took away the primary feature that I purchased the camera for: local storage on the SD card. Now they force you to BUY their cloud storage plans. SHADY. DO NOT BUY.

Broken app. App updates seem to break basic functionality quite often. Perhaps trying to update their cloud subscription model is more important than stability for regular users. I’m not opposed to cloud recording but the pricing is steeper than a cheap SD card. Latest update broke being able to zoom in on video properly (can only zoom centre of image not anywhere in frame).

Constant ads to buy their monthly service!. Constant pop-ups to buy their monthly service! When you open the app it’s just a blank screen nothing works! I’m on a bran new phone bought all their cameras and now I got a glitchy app and when it does work, I’m filled with their advertisements and pop-ups. So sad…. Oh, and they only let the cameras work on 2.4G ( No 5G wifi ) Would love to change my review, please please fix these issues for your customers,

DONT BOTHER WITH THIS APP. This app was ok before because u could just purchase a camera pair it and your good to go with 6second clips, now you can’t even watch clips without a subscription so stupid all you can do now is watch live feed.

Sucks after updating. After update, hardly connects with internet, sound gets silent by itself that cause I didn’t even know my baby is crying !

Cannot use SD for play back anymore. The best part about this camera was the playback feature. The recent update removes this feature and forces you to purchase a subscription in order to playback. Do not buy!! Not as advertised. Why have an SD slot if it serves no purpose!? Fix this!!!

New update is horrible.. Video image is a 3rd of the screen now, which makes it difficult to see. Really poor user interface.

Poor excuse. I bought camera with SD card with plan to see videos. They changed app so cannot see videos without plan. That is a fraud as far as I am concerned. Sorry excuse for a security company.

Ads, subscription. Can’t play back, need subscription. I bought SD cards but the app won’t read them anymore. Bought several packs of these cameras and hardware just to waste time watching ads and be bombarded with subscription ads.

DO NOT BUY YI HOME. Update 06/2023: I deleted the app and reinstalled. It works now, however, the video quality is such a fraud. Yi Home adds a filter on your video picture so it appears darkened, particularly the upper and lower parts of the screen. Absolutely fraudulent company. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE. Update 06/2023: The latest app does not work, loading up shows only a black screen. Update 01/2022: Yi went out of their way to ensure locally saved video playback quality is garbage. They apply some sort of filter to the video where the top and bottom quarter of the screen is darkened. This is their dirty tactic to encourage owners of their cameras to buy into their cloud service. Sep 11, 2021, Yi home has changed their app to prevent owners from watching more than 6sec of recorded video even though it is all available and stored on your SD card. Any attempt to view your footage and it will stop with “your 6 seconds preview has ended” and they push you to subscribe to their Kami cloud service. I have bought over 6 camera and have recommended them to family and friends for years. They have destroyed their customer relationship and I will remove all their cameras going forward. I do not recommend Yi Home, terrible they did this to all their loyal customers and major selling point that you can store/access video locally. 0/5 stars.

Update Sucks. The newest update sucks and doesn’t let you use your memory card as storage. Forcing you to purchase the cloud storage. NO WAY WILL I EVER BUY YOUR APP WHEN I ALREADY BOUGHT YOUR CAMERAS. ILL SOONER THROW THE CAMERAS OUT AND GET NEW ONES!

Change it back!. They changed the computer app so that it can show up to 9 cameras at once but because I only have 4 cameras so instead of filling the screen like it used to I get a little tiny video feed. I hate it. Probably gunna cancel soon if they don’t change it back.

Horrible app. It was never that great with missed notifications & cameras glitching. For example the living room one showing the kitchen the outside one showing the living room & a few other glitches but now in July when we are away from home & the camera goes off instead of alloys to check the feed right away we have to first watch an ad. I have 5 of these cameras with memory cards but now they are trying to shove the subscription down our throats by adding adds and the alerts are coming in late. I’ve tested it with my self I’ll walk in the living room and I won’t get a notification till a minute or 2 later. It’s gotten so bad I went back and this issues to my purchase review. I will now never subscribe because I this is the equivalent of bullying customers after they’ve bought a product by adding these add an other issues. I’m looking into getting better cameras than these junk ones

Bait and switch. I’ve had these cameras for 3-4 years and they used to be great bc, with the free version of the app, you could see 6 second (i think) clips around any caught movement and you had access to those clips for 24 hours. They’ve since updated the app to not include ANY saved footage unless you have the paid plan, but it still shows you that there had been movement. When I click into the movement indicators now, however, it shows a still image from my son sleeping like 2 years ago which is terrifying bc they clearly have the footage somewhere and I will have to fully destroy these cameras when we ultimately get rid of them bc of this. ALSO, the app has been crashing HARD lately. I’ve had to delete and re-download probably 5x this past month just to get the app to work. I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro Max for reference.

Search and save needs work. The cameras work well. The app for live viewing also works well. Though there is no way to look at multiple cameras at once, which is annoying. What needs help is playback and saving videos. To view previous footage you need to scroll along the bottom of the screen. You can’t search for a specific date/time range. Scrolling back 3 days or more is tedious and when you scroll the image stays still, it doesn’t live scroll like rewinding on any other video does. Once you have found the piece you are looking for, saving it is in real time. You have to put the app into record and let it play. You should be able to save a section by marking in and out points. If you try to pull the image directly off the card you get a very weird image with a picture in picture and no time overlay. There is no fast playback like on a security system. You need to watch though endless minutes of false motion to find what you are looking for and again no live scroll forward so if you move on the time line the image jumps to that section. Bottom line this is not a serious replacement for a real DVR/NVR based security system. It is basically a good baby monitor.

Amazing. I absolutely love these cameras! I take care of my mother in law and have them for safety reasons inside the home. I put 32mb SIM cards in each one and I can look at camera footage up to seven days prior I can also record and take screen shots. The night vision works very well as well as regular color picture. Very clear picture and not much of a lag with the live feed. (Most likely due to my slow internet speed). The cameras were very easy to set up and the app for your phone is easy to navigate. You can also set it up or share to multiple phones at one time. These cameras exceed my expectations for such an affordable price. I will definitely be using this company for any other purchases I need.

Don’t update! Don’t recommend for new buyers!. I had this brand for many year and I loved it! Purchased almost 30 cameras for my business as well. A month ago, I would have given 5/5 but definitely not with the new update! The camera was able to record about a 1week of motion on a 32GB card but now it only lets you go back until midnight, not even 24hrs! Motion Recoding is limited to only 6 seconds where as there was no limit before and now they make you buy their cloud subscription to continue watching!. Also it used to have continuous loop recording but they have disabled the function as well. With all these changes, they force you to use their cloud service, which I don’t trust and it is not worth the money! Unfortunately I have to replace all my units with a different brand. I was one happy loyal customer but not anymore.. Total loss of my investment! I do not recommend this brand anymore! What a shame!

Easy setup. Really like the easy setup! This will be perfect to see if the in-laws stop over when we are out of town for a few days. They feel a “need” to always do something when we are out of town (need to feel important?). Now I will know if they use their key to get in (a key they made themselves) and “help out”. They mean well, but are nosy. This camera is great how it is motion activated for notifications, but still constantly records. Like that I can put in a micro USB...but the available cloud storage is a nicer alternative. Stinks that they charge a monthly fee (about $3 per month...not horrible). Overall, it is a nice quality unit that gives a clear picture. Like that I can choose SD or HD recordings. Sound is pretty good too.

App needs live view on main screen. The first problem is when you want to see a live feed, the “loading screen” is often never-ending, sitting at 20% or 80% forever. To see the feed, you have to back out and try again, and then often it’s instantaneous. This is a clear bug. It happens with all my Yi cameras. Second, the main screen does not show the live camera feeds. To see a camera’s live feed, you need to click the camera you want to see. What you see on the main screen is just the last image you viewed - it is not live. For indoor cameras or in places where there is minimal movement, this can be misleading. I may think I’m viewing a live camera when really it’s an image from hours or days ago. Third, sometimes the camera does not accept my PIN. I must close the app and get back in, and it works fine.

UNRELIABLE. This company has become very unreliable. Half the time the cameras will not pick up when something is happening, right in view of them yet will say that there’s motion when there’s nothing in the room. Now today all 10 of my cameras were not able to be accessed through the app and it said that they needed to be paired again. There was no break in Wi-Fi coverage or anything on my end. When you try and contact them the only thing you can do is email them. there’s no quick response and no way to communicate via telephone. I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it and now it won’t even let me log into the app. Do not purchase these cameras! Now they are back to their ways of making you view an ad before you can even access your cameras. That is completely unacceptable!

Terrible suddenly won’t work at all. I’ve been using this app and these cameras for over a year and I pay for the premium and suddenly with this update the app no longer works on my phone. It constantly crashes and says it failed to find information. All of my downloaded and saved files are gone and I cannot connect to my cameras at all most of which I use for my nursery to check on my child while sleeping, I absolutely need these cameras to be working especially with how much I’m paying for them. Customer service is completely unreachable. I have attempted for four days to reach someone via chat and phone and have been left in total over eight hours on hold and unable to speak with anyone. I will never be using this app again or these cameras and will be canceling my membership.

So easy to set up!. Great quality cameras, the only problem I have is that I bought 8 cameras but you can only set up 4 at a time through the Kami cloud so I had to purchase 2 yearly subscriptions to be able to watch the videos anytime. Also it takes hours before you are able to watch something that just happened because it hasn’t uploaded to the cloud yet which is pretty annoying. But I do like that you can talk through the cameras, I always freak my family out and talk in a scary voice through the cameras and they don’t know about that feature so they think our house is haunted haha it’s hilarious to see their faces and reactions! LOL great cameras!

Good picture with serious limitations on features and support. There are better cameras with better after-sales support, more features, and a much better cloud service that works. Yes the camera has a fairly decent picture, a less decent night-time picture and the train goes off the rails after this. Five to seven-day customer service responses by email is typical: there is no phone number to call. Any dealings leave you with the impression a 16 year old is running the business out of his parents’ house. The cloud plan does not work; even if it did, it does not record real-time. So anything you want to be recorded is not. Forget about refunds. Try signing up with s so-called discount and your card gets charged immediately. There are no options to see nor any way to apply a discount. Run away from all this or it will be a bad experience.

To Yi Developers. I used this app back when Yi was just getting started. The app use to run so much faster. But what happened to it now? I used to get a message someone is at the door and i would click and it would instantly show what is on the camera in a matter of seconds. Now whenever I click on the message i have to click onto the camera and wait for it to load. It loads anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Which is terrible because what if i needed to catch a burglar within those moments?! Also frequently it doesn't even load! i need to quit the app after waiting a minute that nothing is happening.. AND RELOAD IT AGAIN?!!! you guys did add extra features to delete easier but man quality is going down the hill. I’m using a iphone 6 plus. My previous phone was an iphone 5s and It was much faster then. Thats 5 years ago that the app was at optimal efficiency. Please resolve and i’d happily change the stars to 5 stars.

Formerly helpful. I used to love my Yi home cameras, I’ve highly recommended them to others as they’ve always been reliable over the years. Recently things changed, the app now pushes ads ads ads and constant badgering to subscribe to a service I’m not interested in. I literally just wanted to check my camera to find out what the noise in my living room was and here I am waiting for the full screen ad to finish so I can look at the footage from the camera I’ve paid for. Developer: Listen, I understand it’s a concept of a business to make money. It’s distasteful when I’m here trying to look at footage from my camera and I’m being held up dismissing an ad I’m not interested in. No, I will not subscribe to Kami cloud and honestly this ensures I’m going to be replacing my cameras with another brand in the near future.

Good Cameras, Poor Service. These cameras are good. Good image, good IR, decent audio. The app works well most of the time. My biggest complaint is dealing with Yi customer service. It took me 2 whole weeks before a problem was resolved, and the problem was on their end too. Going back and forth on emails, I would get one email a day in response to my reply and then they would ask another question... again, not hearing back from them until the next day or 2. For 2 weeks straight, with no solution, no camera coverage, and no refund or compensation. Trying to reach them by call is just as difficult. The wait time is always 2 minutes, but I end up waiting 5 minutes for a voicemail telling me to leave a message and that they’d call me back, which they never do. If the customer service was better, I would give Yi better ratings.

Interface changed. About the camera: pretty good …good clarity and definition for the price. Now the interface was changed from old version I have on one phone (4.7.2) compared to last version I have on another phone (. 5.0.1). Both phones are iPhone. The latter version interface is just horrible. The picture of your camera has been so reduced you can barely see anything anymore ;the “ activity detection “ takes up to 60% of your screen which is just …blank screen space and all quick function access ( record/ take picture/ activate microphone etc) interface have been removed / smh Good product but horrible ( since version 5) software interface .

Birth of Foal. Thanks to your wonderful camera, placed in a horse stall, we have been able to watch and share as our mare prepared, over the past week, to give birth. We have been able to monitor her well being and when the time arrived, we were right there to make sure mother and foal were safe as the foal was welcomed into the world. Having the timeline allowed us to share this miracle with friends. We have already bought a second camera to prepare for the birth of another foal in a few weeks. Sound and picture quality is very good. A great investment at such an affordable price!

Cheap HW, horrible SW, tons of ads. I love the price point of Yi and Kami hardware but the software is a total abomination and that is why I am switching everything to Eufy (way more stable apps). In short, when I open up Yi/Kami app, they would hang a bunch and the images wouldn’t even connect! I’d have to keep trying several times a day. The latest firmware and software “Smart AI Detection” updates (home stationary cam) is also very very buggy, it would keep detecting VEHICLE in my bedroom (nothing resembling a vehicle), and in the garage it would repeated tell me there is a VEHICLE (no duh!!!). The constant pop up to get me to sign up to the Kami Cloud is also just maddening and annoying as heck. I recently got Eufy Cams and this brand has superior people detection and most importantly all the cams are STABLE. No crash, hang, nothing. You really get what you pay for.

I prefer Wyze cameras. I picked up several Yi Cameras when they were on sale a few years ago and have been using them since. They started off great but I was disappointed with the app and the time, instability to connect to the cameras. I have 4 cameras spread out across 1800 sq ft. I use a Netgear Orbi mesh system to provide a WiFi signal throughout the house. When I try to connect to some of the cameras, it can take over a minute to load the feed and forget about viewing playback. It will buffer and be unwatchable. Now, this may or may not have something to do with the WiFi signal the cameras are receiving but I have the same amount of Wyze cameras, connected on the same network and connecting to the cameras takes a second and once connected, the app is very responsive. The only thing I prefer Yi cameras over Wyze is that they’re better cameras to point outside through a window.

The app is a total bust. The cameras themselves work as they should and I have no issues there other than they have rendered two memory cards useless. However, the app is near awful, we get live notifications but the app won’t show them once clicked and then never show up in the notification screen. The navigation around the app is easy but slow, the navigation in a video recording is at real-time ONLY. You cannot live scrub or fast forward with moving images (2x or more speed), basically if you want to search your footage you have to watch them im full time to find something, which is a large waste of time. These are simple fixes that have not been fixed in over a year, if anything the apps design has gotten worse.

4 going on 5 stars. So I never do reviews but felt the need to do so here. The home camera product is great! They are so affordable and work fantastic. The app functions well also; however, could use some upgrades. One is the ability to rotate activity regions. The activity region needs to be flexible as not all regions are a perfect square or rectangle. Second, you definitely need an iPad app that functions like the PC app where you can view four cameras at once and that they don’t time out after 30 minutes. Using an iPad for a baby monitor is way easier than a Laptop. The iPad app also needs all the functionality of he iPhone app. Lastly, for motion alerts you need to have an option for the user to turn off being alerted on motion, but still have all the motions be recorded to the cloud or SD card. Basically I have felt that I don’t necessarily need to be alerted of all recorded motion all the time, but still want to record it for future viewing. In my book this would boost this camera and app to 5 of 5 stars and be way better than anything on the market now. It basically already is for the value. Hopefully some if not all these features can be included soon!

Sluggish. And what is up with the privacy for this app?!?. App feels sluggish. For example you need to tap a few times to get to the camera feed and then it takes even more time for the video to start streaming. And quite frequently the feed doesn’t connect at all! It gets stuck at 80% connecting.... (and please don’t blame my network; it is very good) Also why does this app requires access to the microphone if I only need to hear the audio from the security camera?!!!!!???!? Something fishy is going on here or a major development incompetence, I mean how could an app dealing with a security related product come such an unacceptable privacy requirement. On top of that application not just requests access to GPS location but makes it impossible to add new cameras without disclosing location. Why!?!!!?! This is unacceptable by any norms. There is absolutely no legitimate reason for this app to refuse to add camera without disclosing my location.

CANCELED and replaced with a Ring camera. UPDATED 2.9.24: Now the camera is useless because they're forcing an authentication which is a total roadblock. Zero online support available because they're offline. Convenient! This camera and app is so useless. RECOMMENDATION: Invest in a Ring camera. We now have three of them. Same type of features. Camera is pricier, but reliable and costs less in subscription fees. $30/year vs Yi’s $96+/year. UPDATE: You’ve had two weeks to fix the playback restriction after we’ve already been dealing with numerous issues with your software. What are we paying for??? I had a whole history of the horrible app updates and now it’s gone. I’VE PAID FOR YOUR ICLOUD for a year now and yet I CAN’T ACCESS ANY VIDEO PLAYBACK thanks to your ridiculous updates. This issue just goes on and on. I don’t like to throw this word out there often, but this is starting to feel like a SCAM. 😡

Great camera. So far these cameras have exceeded expectation they have not only wonderful image quality, but a large camera radius view. The app was very easy to download and super user-friendly. It is free unless you wanna update for the cloud to save your videos or you can place an SD card inside of your camera. There are also three different ways to utilize your camera. It can be mounted on the wall set up on the mantle or, anything and the camera can directly come off of its attachment overall wonderful product I will update on how long it lasts. I just received it and this is the first week using.

Simply amazing!. I got the 4-camera set and use them as nanny cams. The system is extremely easy to set up and works amazingly. I paid for the $85 dollar subscription to record limitlessly on the cloud but that’s not necessary. You can by memory cards for them too. I love having 100% access to them from WHEREVER on my phone at all times. They look great and you can view them from your phone or computer in SD or HD. You can also listen to each camera and use them as a two way communicator! The app is very intuitive and looks great! I would give it 6 stars if I could. Oh, and to think I only paid $100 to have piece of mind with my LO, I feel like this whole system was a steal! Thank you!

Love n hate relationship. I love this app because it’s a really good app it shows every visual thing perfectly sometimes it skips other than that it’s great and it used to have a feature where you could watch 24 hours a day but they don’t have that feature , which I have purchased in the past suddenly which I didn’t know cause I didn’t check there there’s service menu because I thought I knew already but it does not cover 24 hour service it only covers certain views like a car coming motion which is not good so for that I don’t like it anymore very much.

Product is slowly declining. I now have 6-7? cameras and they performed in the app wonderfully until cloud services and subscription based modeling arrived. Purchased an outdoor variant; it’s 5 feet from its wireless router connection and it performs worse than some other cameras on the platform; it’s the newest camera addition. It sends video to the cloud and sends notifications just fine and timely. But live video? You’ve ruined it. Can you please fix this? I know you’re trying to compete with the market and all…but most manufacturers are doing like you seem to be with your Kami line…offer a new product with the new sub services for that revenue stream. I get it. But don’t lose your customer base to the likes of Ring, etc. when your product won them over for its lack of subscription needs.

Excellent, but.... My family bought 4 cameras a week ago. They loved the pricing and how easy it was to set up accounts and devices. But the camera quality is what I’m not impressed with. The photo is grainy when things move and the sound is grainy as well. I have tried every setting and update to try to make the quality better but it won’t do anything. I hope the quality gets better on these home cameras. I love the safety it’s giving me and my family, but it’s just the graininess that bothers me... I’m not saying that it’s horrible and I’m giving one star (I have 4 put up in the star rating), I’m saying that this product is just, not to my liking with the quality... :)

Great Quality & Price. Love these little cameras. Great quality and features for such a low price. Whatever feature someone would ask about, I’d really only have good things to say. Everything works just as it should, except for one small quirk - when you have a dome camera set up to automatically scan bookmarks, even if you have the IR night vision light set to “off” it still turns on (and then back off again) each time it moves to a new bookmark with the B/W night mode activated. Most people won’t notice or care, since the IR light is usually just left on, but I wanted to point it out for possible bug squashing. But I still definitely recommend these cameras and this app over any of the competitors.

Revised App is Better. It seems that updating the app has caused problems for me. All the time I have had the camera and they app, the alert came immediately after motion detection. Then a few months later I stopped getting alerts upon motion detection. I reached out to support who advised me to delete and reinstall the app which actually worked. A week later again no alerts on motion. I don’t know why these guys can’t get it together. This is annoying. The only reason I purchased is for the motion alerts in case someone enters my apartment. Without this it’s worthless to me. *****Update: After rebooting camera notifications started again. I was concerned because I have had absolutely no problems with the app or notifications in months maybe even close to a year.

Baby monitor. We use this as a baby monitor. It is good but could be better. I’d love to see the controls for going back and watching recorded video be a more user friendly. The app does well if you are looking for isolated events separated by periods of no movement. It gets clunky when you are trying to find an event within a long period of movement. If the baby starts crying or I hear some other noise while he is trying to get to sleep, I go get my phone and open the app to see what the cause was. By this time 20-30 seconds has passed. The time scrubbing feature wants to snap to either the beginning of an event or to the live feed. It has a hard time going back 30 seconds. I’d love to see a ‘rewind 15 seconds’ button added.

Can’t zoom after Update. Can’t zoom after update. The top of the frame will not zoom in or scroll down. The bottom of the frame works but not the top. I expect a fix. I have 10 cameras for at least 2 years. I’ve had one camera specifically that i had to replace about 5 sd cards after being corrupted. Good Samsung SD cards. That camera also sometimes will stop storing new video like it can’t overwrite. Or the camera will shut off until I manually eject the as card and put in a new card. The zoom feature is needed the most though.

Awesome. My father has like 10 of these cameras all around his house. He has shown me how awesome they are. Especially for the price they can’t be beat. I knew I would be happy with the camera. However I wasn’t sure what to expect from the app itself. They have made it so easy and simple. My wife normally has me running the apps like this because they can get complicated. It’s so simple that she does it herself. I’m officially in love. I just couldn’t be happier with this buy. I don’t understand why people buy the expensive cameras when you can have something as nice as this. It’s so important to have a good app to pair with them. I’d like to say thanks and well done to the developers. Highly recommend!

YI just a ruined a beautiful service!!. The new update has completely crippled this camera brand. I even pay for the cloud but have more cameras than the 5 most important that I do have cloud service on. Now these other cameras which I use to monitor homeless cats and rehabilitating animals who are stressed with human contact but who can be checked on with these cameras silently. This convenience is now a thing of the past. I will also be looking for a new camera service. Arlo equipment is expensive but very good once you invest in a camera and the hub. It is a free service if you don’t need the extra features! I have one of their cameras as well. YI! Listen to your customers! Fix these issues! Don’t make me embarrassed for having been a free product rep for you for years through my referrals to these cameras. You have a chance now to stand out as a company that listens and evolves! Your wallet will also thank you!

A Dumpster Fire. This app was promising a few years ago. It worked okay but now it’s constant ads for their paid services, notifications and in app navigation is full of ads. New features and camera updates are being locked behind a paywall. Also misleading customers to buy their premium service and setting a date to end the free service then rolling it back a day after their free service was scheduled to end apologetically explaining it was a “mistake” and the free service would continue. After months of constant emails and in app notifications about a discounted rate only available until the day before their free set would end. Only gets the second star because the app still has minimal functionality even though it’s full of bugs and constantly says cameras are “offline” even though they still send notifications.

Sep 2021 Update Thumbs Down. Overall, I’ve enjoyed using the Yi Home app until this update hit the air. Accessing activity recordings from the memory card is now longer possible in the full screen mode as the timeline no longer appears. This was one of the features that made using the older release very useful on a phone screen. With that feature now moved to the “activity” screen, I find myself now hating to use it. Second gripe: Why is there still no direct support for tablet display modes after so many years? Seeing the iPhone-formatted screen on my iPad Pro is aggravating. Although the cameras are good (I have five), I’m now considering other camera options because of the app’s latest update. If only I could easily integrate these cameras with 3rd-party software…

Too Many Intrusive Ads. I’ve been using Yi cameras for about 5 years. The app has always been great. Recording, viewing live video, getting alerts - everything’s been fine. I assume the company was sold because out of nowhere, there are all of a sudden a ton of intrusive advertisements that try to sell you hard for their cloud storage service. Aside from that, there are other paid advertisements that take up the whole real estate of the app when you first open it. It didn’t used to be like this. Bad change and causing myself and I see other users also to have a poor user experience. I hate seeing ads on this app. Especially when I paid for the cameras and the application didn’t have this amount of advertisement before. 👎

Enjoying this product!. I found the Yi Home easy to set up and great to keep tabs on our home. I am using them currently to keep tabs on our teens. Since our bedroom is too far to see if they put up their electronics at bedtime, I aimed the camera at our charging station and can quickly see if they put them up on time. It’s also been great to check on things when we’re away from home. While they do plug in, they are accessed wirelessly so as long as our Wi-Fi works, I have eyes and ears on our home all the time. I also love the two-way speaker so I can remind the children that it’s bedtime.

Needs attention. I’ve been using this app with my cameras for a few years and have loved it. However, the app will not allow me to view any cameras. I still get my notifications, motion detections, etc. but when I open the app I am completely unable to click and view a camera, I cannot go to my account, I cannot go to any thing. It’s almost as if it’s completely frozen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it fixes it but only for about 12hrs and then its back to not working and I’ve done this 3 times now and I’m now tired of having to uninstall and reinstall just to get a few hours using off of it. I’m sure it’s something that can be fixed so I’m hopeful it will get tended to.

J. If you wanna miss things and get things you don’t wanna see this is the camera for you. Period. The set up that I had before they change this cloud system was great it’s not anymore I wouldn’t suggest this for anybody. Period. Very strange bugs can fly out there and I can get them on my camera but a car with a trailer pulls past my house and it doesn’t get it at all I walked up walking the dog it doesn’t see me at all crazy I don’t know if that’s what you’re supposed to do but I’m thinking it’s not I think it’s supposed to catch the big things to it doesn’t do it I would not suggest you buying this this is not the camera for you it doesn’t catch the things you want to catch catches things you don’t wanna catch have a good day find someplace else to buy your camera this is not the one you want plus once they changed it around like I said it’s never been the same it’s never worked good I wouldn’t get the cloud if they gave it to me

Simply the best. My first camera was a YI and because it was so affordable I thought that the other more expensive were going to be better so I bought one at the time many other way more expensive...after a year of buying and trying I went back to YI to buy more for my family and for home. I just started buying cameras for outdoors and for my home entrance. I bought again other brands and didn't like any... From complexity, huge delays, features, and image quality none can compare to the my indoors cameras and I am very disappointed because some are 20 times more expensive. I just ordered my first Kami and I am pretty sure that I am going to be as satisfied as I am with my other cameras.

Totally Worthless Home Security. Like the title says, this is worthless for home security, if you actually care about it saving videos when people, vehicles, or movement are detected. I will say the UI is actually decent and intuitive. You can view multiple feeds at once and setup is relatively straight forward as expected. HOWEVER, the software to capture and save any kind of movement or action that is worth viewing is TOTAL GARBAGE. I purchased the year plan with up to 5 cameras and cloud storage for motion events. THIS DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. 50% of my cloud saved videos are just my own car parked in the driveway, sitting there, motionless. The other 49% state there is a person detected. There is no person in the entire saved video. Just my front yard or my garage with my car. No human or even an animal in sight. The other 1% of videos actually do have some kind of movement! Yay! BUT the video is too short and starts a long time after the event begins and then gets cut off wayyyy before the event is over. And yes, I am aware that the initial viewing is a preview, and you can then go and “watch the whole video”. Which is not the whole video. Also, ALL of my videos have a horribly loud static, crackling noise. No idea why, I have to mute every video while viewing. This occurs for all of my cameras. This “security system” is a joke and totally worthless. Go with something else.

Spam and possibly worse. When I first bought my cameras, I thought it was just a sign of the times that they wanted me to pay more for cloud storage. I didn’t expect the notification features to be disabled if you don’t pay for cloud storage, and I didn’t expect the prompts to pay for cloud storage to increase in frequency, and now they are showing ads that cannot be exited. This app is just spam, showing ads to people who already bought their poor quality hardware. It makes you ask the question, if they care so little for their paying customers they they’ll sell us out to advertisers for pennies, what other personal data are they selling? Security camera companies should be ethical beyond reproach, and these guys are sketchy beyond compare. Worse, with all the data being owned by a Chinese company, it’s likely that these video streams are being recorded and viewed by the Chinese military. Use at your own risk.

SD card playback. Update: went from 4 stars to 1 star back to 4 stars. The ability to playback video has come back all of the sudden, even without an update. I’m not not sure what happened but these cameras are back to working the way they used to! One star review: (old) The option to play back the video from the SD card has been removed. Others say this is back in the latest update but so far it is not back for me and I am running the latest version. Very disappointed as that was one of the main reasons I continued to use Yi home cameras. If this is not fixed I will be returning the camera and looking for another option. I will update and give more stars if the option is returned.

Feature Request: Move On/Off to Home Screen. This is a great app and the camera product is excellent. Don’t let the 4-star rating stop you; if you’re on the fence, just get the YI Home! The only missing thing for me is to have the On/Off button on the home screen for each camera (where the Alerts, Settings, and Subscribe buttons are). I use the On/Off feature quite a bit (turn camera On when I leave the home, turn it back Off when I get back) and it’s annoying that I have to go to Settings to do this, mainly because the Settings takes a while to load (establishes network connectivity). I realize this might be done for good reason (verifies that connection works first, making On/Off is possible), but it would be great if I didn’t have to go through two steps to use On/Off.

It’s Just Okay. I recently found this camera around my house and decided to use it for a “experiment”. A cat had been pooping in my room for the past week and I was keen on finding out who had done it. So I set my camera up in the spot and went to sleep. Beforehand, I tested it out with the sensitivity on high. It sensed motion only when there were shadows moving. Not at all when i moved my legs in that area or dropped anything there. Still hopeful, I continued on. It’s 4:57 when I’m writing this and I’m pretty mad. Not only did it not catch the crime, but the clip of what it did catch (a cat checking it out) was very short. How did it miss a whole cat walking into the area, taking a dump, and then walking away?? Overall, I’m super dissatisfied with this product. It’s a great live monitor but I wouldn’t trust it to do much else. Sorry.

Absolute trash. The customer service spins you and their only reply to their terrible technology is to update the app, the app is updated, my internet is on point, my phone is a new apple model, and yet my cameras load maybe 10% of the time if that, resetting my phone, my cameras and my internet makes zero difference. Do not purchase these, not sure how they got so many good reviews but my personal experience is that these are absolute trash and a complete waste of money. Do not buy these, spring for anything else but these cameras, I have 4 and can’t watch them almost ever. When they do work they’re decent but their support and app is garbage. Every single update I hope they fix the problems so I can use my cameras, but nope they’re exactly as bad as it was, I will give them credit for being consistent with their lack of care and technical abilities.

App / Support - Mediocre at best.. I’ve been using this camera and it their plan for quite a while. AND every update just gets worse. Support either hangs up on you. Or Disconnects from Chat. However, if you get lucky enough to troubleshoot they unfortunately just copy paste articles/blogs to reboot the whole system. Even if you already did so. The camera has been rebooted, reset, reconnected. I have 100% internet connection and I’m still having issues. I’m pretty tech savvy, but still listen and cooperate. I keep getting the feeling that they just want me to not report and keep using a camera that’s basically working as if I didn’t pay for a subscription plan!! The new firmware update kicked off my KamiCloud service and no longer records a days let alone the 7 days worth of footage I’m paying for it only alerts me and shows 10 second video. I’m very close to switch cameras and services. So much for premium support.

Great camera. My husband and I love this camera! We have 4 of them in different areas of the house. The picture quality is AMAZING, day AND night! The only thing that is annoying is the camera makes a clicking sound (when we have the camera open on the app or our echo) when the sunlight tries to peak through the curtain in the room. We’ve hung our curtain rod up higher and lower, even have black out curtains… and for some reason the camera still keeps clicking…probably an error on our part, we’re still trying to figure out ways to block the sun to prevent the camera from clicking so much LOL. Get this camera you won’t be disappointed! Great price too :)

Yi home app has serious issues june/july 2023. The app has been experiencing serious issues for the past month. It doesn't work more than it does. First came the black screen locked that appears when starting the app and it's completely impossible to get into the app. I was forced to delete the app and reinstall it. After that it started working, but with one surprise, the ads started appearing before the app was launched (which was not the case before). However, the app started behaving erratically again. Now on startup it shows a green screen that freezes and cannot be entered into the app AGAIN! So it's not working properly. And of course I restarted my phone... The app became unreliable and I can't access the cameras because it's stuck with a green locked screen. I don't know what kind of development you are on her. I hope you resolve this issue as soon as possible.

You'll always have your "clone" or "knockoff". But YI has raised the bar in terms of quality so high now in so little time. They we're and are a well respected "gopro" type sports camera manufacturer. With comparable quality at only 1/3 of the price of a gopro. Well now they launched into home security and they are now competing with nest. Here again, at 1/3 of the cost of a nest cam. I won't say YI is better than GoPro or best dropcam no. But at 1/3 the cost. Definitely competitive and the price is right. They just launched a new product line in the DSLR camera business now taking aim at mirror less DSLR cameras. I'm curious. I don't have one.....yet.
