Lost Frontier Game Description & Overview

What is lost frontier app? Lost Frontier is a turn-based strategy game, brought to you from the creators of the Battleheart and Zombieville series'. In a fantasy-western setting consumed by steam-punk technology and the supernatural, can you survive with just your wit and a six-gun at your side?

Features:

• Story Mode - Play through 24 chapters that introduce you to the gameplay, characters, and world of Lost Frontier.

• Challenge Mode - once you've mastered the mechanics, put your knowledge to the test in a series of 20 demanding missions.

• 20 Unique Unit types - take command of a wide range of Wild West forces, from Gunslingers and Cavalry to civil-war era Cannons and Gatling Guns. Or, employ more exotic weapons like steam-powered Gyrocopters and Zeppelins, and enlist the help of dark forces like Werewolves and Necromancers.

• Living Legends - choose a "Living Legend" as the leader of your forces. Each of the 9 unique legends grow in power as you play with them, and promote different play styles. Will you pick your foes off from a distance as Wyatt "Long-Arm" Wilcox, or focus on brute force with the help of ace gunslinger John "6-eyes" McGraw?

• Custom Games - choose from a variety of maps, set up the rules, and play with or against AI or human players via local, hot-seat play.

Couldn't stop playing. This game has the components I'm looking for. I liked the difficulty- Getting to new levels was challenging, and a nice puzzle to figure out, but it never became impossible. For what it's worth, I appreciate the storyline as well.

One of the best turn-based strategy games. I play a lot of turn based strategy games on my pc, but when I’m traveling I have to play mobile games, and when I was looking for mobile games, I found lost frontier. This game blew me away, and this game is a lot better than even some of the games on my pc. The story is great, and it is one of the few mobile games that actually has a good storyline. The combat is really good, as it is simple to learn, but you can do so much with it. The campaign is the best part imo, but the challenge and custom maps are also fun. Also, it is really cool unlocking new abilities for your character as you go along. On top of that, to fully upgrade any character it’s only $.99, so the max you can spend in the game is only $9, and you really don’t need to pay anything as it’s not pay to win at all. I have never written a game review before, but this game is so good that I had too.

Amazing strategy game. Astonishing this game doesn’t have a perfect rating. It’s an immersive strategy game with a great story provided without ads or in app purchases. Download it and enjoy something uncommon in this day an age: an engaging and fun experience completely free of charge.

Really fun turn based strategy game. This game is really fun. Different unit types, immersive story, and difficult but not impossible. One of the best games I’ve played in years.

Other reviews didn’t understand mechanics. Other reviews have complained about it being too hard etc. especially one review that discusses chapter 4. I just came here to say that they were wrong because they did not read the instructions in the game (it is all explained in chapters 1-4), it’s not insanely difficult, you just have to learn the mechanics of the game. As far as creativity in solutions, meh. Yeah to get 3 stars you’ll probably be kind of confined in your solution, but it really is more of a puzzle style game if your goal is to 3star every mission. Not a negative, it’s just more of a “solution” based game at that point

Great game short on content. Don’t get me wrong this game is amazing but I feel like there could be more as in maps, Troops Etc there is a custom mode but what if that added a creative mode where you can place buildings your self and then play said level but honestly This game is defiantly worth the money

Outstanding game when it isn't crashing. From a gameplay perspective, this is a 5* game. Yes, it is hard, Yes, you won't always get 3 stars on every level the first time you play it. But each level is possible to ace once you level your hero or unlock other leaders to play through. I just can't give it that deserved 5* rating though because the latest update crashes every few turns, sometimes even failing to launch. Fix that, and I'll change this rating.

Good concept, flawed execution. Love Mika Mobile, love grid-based strategy games. I’ve cut my teeth on every fire emblem game I could get my hands on as well as the final fantasy tactics games and advance wars. When I heard Mika had made a strategy game, suffice to say I was excited! Sadly though, after playing for about 15 hours I honestly think I’m done with the game for good. The problem isn’t that this game is too hard, it’s that there’s only one “correct” way to do each mission. Basically each map is just a boring game of trial and error till you figure out the exact moves to finish the level with 3 stars. You just don’t get that rush of creative excitement that a fire emblem game affords you. I wish so badly that I could recommend this game to fans of the genre, but truthfully I suggest you pass on this one and try the Partia games if you’re looking for a strategy fix.

Not for everyone. First off let me say that I personally LOVE tactical based RPGs like this, final fantasy tactics for the playstation and dungeon of the endless on steam to name a couple where you have to think critically about your parties composition to succeed. Coming from someone who's played these games all his life since he was a kid I can honestly say this is right up there with the best, the only thing holding this game back is perhaps the audience and the fact that theres little to no hand holding, I don't think iOS is a platform for these kinds of games, I'm glad Mika Mobile decided to bring this here, now I and many others have something satisfying to play on this platform in the way of a tactical based RPG. My only real gripe is the lack of online multiplayer but its still a 5 star game regardless.

Another failed strategy game on IOS.. I think this game is being rated so high because it's Mika Mobile who made it. It's difficulty gets insane, way too quickly. By Chapter 4 (this is your 4th fight!) your put against an army of 9 enemies, with only 4 men of your own. Many of these 9 enemies can, and will, one shot your men. Sure, you can get backup men but by the time you can afford the cheapest and most useless unit, the rest of your men are already dead, or very near dead. This is stupid and completely unbalanced game play that ramps up the difficulty way too soon! Also, three staring even the second fight is next to impossible because you have to complete it in under 7 rounds. Well, it takes half that many round just to get to the last two enemies, let alone killing the first 3. This game is just another failed strategy on IOS and a waist of money.

Great little game!. Any fan of the advance wars series will love this. A nice old-school strategy game with character progression elements. Has been a mainstay on my phone for many years. Nothing too flashy but worth the price in a morass of pay to win games!

Under-rated asymmetric Advance Wars. This game is super under-rated—it’s great turn-based strategy. If you like Advance Wars, or Warbits, or Fire Emblem, Lost Frontier is totally worth trying out. The teams are asymmetric too, with some interesting differences between the sides. I wish the UI was a little clearer about which units were good/bad against which, but that’s relatively minor.

Perfect. This game is perfect. Story is great. Gameplay is great. Graphics are amazing. Sound and music is perfect. Love it. Also, Not sure why people are saying this is too hard... I beat everything with 3 stars and wanted it to be more difficult so I selected Ghast and beat it with 3 stars without using the hero or any of the graveyard units. I gotta try to beat it without air units now. It has tons of replay value in my opinion. Thanks for my favorite game on the App Store!

I tried to like it. I couldn't wait for this game to be released. So far it's been a great disappointment. The UI and AI are fine. Music, gameplay and animations are ok. It's just not as much fun as I had expected from a Mika Mobile release. Could they have made it more fun? I'm sure they could have, but they didn't. It just falls flat. The one other thing that gets me is in app purchases in paid games. I usually don't buy these games, but I did in this case because I had faith in Mika Mobile. Would the boosts made the game more enjoyable for me? Possibly but I'll never know because I refuse to use IAPs for paid games. Maybe I was spoiled with the Battle Heart games? Or maybe turn based strategy games such as this aren't for me. It's a shame too because they worked so hard for quite a while to release this and judging by the amount of reviews it doesn't appear to be a big hit. I hope I'm wrong. Did I waste my $2.99? Absolutely not. It's a finished product put out by a quality dev. If you're into this type of game maybe it's for you. It's not for me.

Could not stop playing. This game offers a really entertaining combo of fun and challenge. The levels are entertaining even on repeated plays, thanks to the star-earning system. Every character you put on the board counts and every round is important. Difficult to put down!

My Favorite iOS Developer. I have played and beaten every single one of Mika Mobile's games. Their art style in unique. Their ideas always stand out. They make solid and simple games with a lot of depth hidden under the artwork and story. None of their games are as easy as they look, and that's what makes them a great developer. Keep up the great work! I check up on you on the App Store about once a month, just in case you drop something new. I'm not positive, but I believe this is an indie developer. They only release a new game every year or two. Again, their games are always good though. You are the first and only developer I know by screen name. Keep it up, and I hope you have made a decent living for yourself making these great games!

Excellent.. Truly as good as any turn-based strategy game, and with a neat design. I had a hard time around level 5 or 6, but as with any strategy game just had to walk away and clear my mind before starting the level again with a new strategy, which worked first time. This is old-school strategy, where you have to expect to lose occasionally. That just makes it even more rewarding to figure it out and beat it.

Could be great, but difficulty is a bit ridiculous. This game as such potential but without an option to change the difficulty it gets a bit ridiculous. Idk how anyone could ever get more than 1 star on some of these, and then level 11 is just annoyingly difficult. You’re just fighting a near impossible uphill battle while getting blasted with cannons and I feel the game does not give you enough resources to even make it fun. I don’t really wanna just keep churning out basic units for 20 rounds until I maybeee finally break through…which I haven’t yet hah there is a balance between difficult and fun and difficult and not fun and this is already leaning too much towards the later. Adding the ability to change the difficulty setting would benefit this game greatly.

Old school at its Best. I am a HUGE turn based strategy fan and was hooked on this game. Good variety of units and like the fact we have a more powerful "Hero". There is some trial and error to figure out the harder levels but a very fun game and hope for a sequel 😀 Only thing on wishlist for any sequel would be to add some cutomized RPG character attributes. Great job Mika Mobile!👍

If you like strategy games - this one is for you.. Love this game. It is a good length game but also has replay value. Love replaying the game as different characters and coming up with different strategies for that characters strength. wish there were more games like this. I like this game better than Banner Saga- Developer should consider releasing this game on the switch (banner saga already has).

A fantastic challenge. This is one of my all time favorite games. A strategy game that gives you time to think. RPG upgrade elements that keep you coming back to beat just one more level. A great setting, and polished graphics. The controls are perfect for the phone or iPad. I wish all games were this well crafted. It is difficult! It sometimes takes me four or five tries to beat a level, but that difficulty makes it all the more worth it. Only two changes could make the game better: online multiplayer (please!!) and allow achievements to be shared with other living legends. Otherwise, this game is perfect. Just one more time I have to say that I love the style. The simplicity of the menus, the cartoonish characters, and the satisfying controls. A very well crafted game. An incomplete sentence.

Exactly what I look for in a Tactical RPG. This game does tactical turn based combat the right way. There are no annoying mobile freemium mechanics, just a beautifully simple, yet tactically complex game, for a straightforward price. This game is worth $30, but I paid $3. Awesome!!

Nice graphics, sound and art however... There are a few minute details which high end turn based strategy games feature. One day into the game, I find myself not knowing how to check or accepting a serious flaw in the game. We are unable to view the range for our own units. We are unable view any information about the terrain, also. For instance, clicking or holding your finger on a unit should serve a purpose to display ranged attack length or unit information. Recruiting is annoying because everytime you view a unit, they prompt a 2 sentence pop up of information which increases time to select your unit. We should also be able to station units on saloons or homes. I’m also not sure if ranger attacks can go through them? They’re are so many mesas as well but shouldn’t we be able to place our units on them, or on hills. Also the menu buttons are way to close, they feature similar font and size. So often I will click on a different button than I desire, as they’re placed on the top right. I’d prefer more copy and paste of advance wars , Lost Frontier is old but there is much untapped potential.

Alternately wonderful and frustrating.... Theme is solid. Story actually exists to help pull you in. Art is a fun style that doesnt distract. And the gameplay is... well, alternately wonderful and frustrating. There seem to be no upgrades (which I find frustrating because there are so many ways to try a map with an attempt at 3 stars before its obvious that upgrades are the only way you can succeed, as there is no difficulty rating). Three star ratings seem to be for personal purposes only (so overachievers, prepare to be disappointed). And the unit limits, while nice for purposes of simplicity, can cause issues if you aren't good with a specific unit. Overall an interesting experience, but I am glad I waited for a sale.

Stop complaining... The game is fine. People complaining they can't 3 star level 3, clearly haven't played turn based games before. People complaining it's too hard in general. Yeah don't you want a hard game?? You're paying for it. Why would you want it to be easy....?

Advanced Wars in the Wild West. I’m surprised people aren’t making the comparison. Some of the maps even felt the same. This is a compliment. Advanced Wars was one of my favorite games. My only complaint is that I don’t think all of the extra challenge maps are winnable with every hero, for example the ones that can’t capture structures. Also, it would be nice to turn off the tutorial and intro dialogue after the first time. Highly recommended game. Challenging. Lot of strategy. Nice atmosphere. In-game purchases are perfect. Sequel please.

Best turn based strategy game on iOS.. If you like final fantasy tactics then this is a great game for you. Takes some time to master and has a few challenges but is certainly worth the money. You will struggle to pass higher levels until your main character is maxed at lvl 40, so either pay the extra 99 cents or plan to grind it out. After completing the game with one of the three base characters you unlock a number of additional characters and can play the game through with them. My one request for a functionality update would be the ability to skip the tutorials on rounds that you have played before as there is no need to see them again and again with new characters.

Great game. These guys made one of my two favorite app games battleheart legacy (other is faster than light). So buying this was a no brainer. I like srpg's from back when I was a kid. Plays out like a shining force type game with more disposable characters.

Addictive, contemplative, great fun!. I can’t say enough about this game. I’ve played through almost all the campaigns and challenge maps and have easily logged 100+ hours. I get lost in this game sometimes and the hours just slip by. The more you learn about each of the characters and the posses and the tanks, how they move and the damage they do on others...well, it’s a steady learning curve but so worth the time when you get that Victory! salute from the game. Of all the PlayStation and iOS games I’ve played, this one ranks near the very top. Purchased this a year ago and still playing and enjoying it. I highly recommend this for someone looking for a challenge with a great rewards system. I hope someday soon there is a Lost Frontier 2 because I will instantly pre-order it.

Advance Wars Fans you’ve found it. I have been waiting for this game for years. I’ve seen advance wars clones, but the way this game adds in the undead really adds a wonderfully different spin. Also, it fictionally uses healing and taking land much differently than AW, resulting in fresh gameplay. My only frustrations are: 1.) you don’t get ANY bonus for getting all 3-stars in story and/or challenge maps?!? At least throw us an extra level! 2.) Can we PLEASE get an expansion at some point? Making custom games just isn’t the same as intentional scenarios.

Fun and challenging. Mika Mobile has done it again! I love this one, Mika Mobile’s charming graphics shine. It feels great to strategize your turns and beat a level. It’s challenging but very fair; although some levels get a bit hairy, if you keep a cool head you can beat most on the first try (and I think I make a good number of mistakes)

Fantastic Game but Crashes Constantly. I absolutely love this game's mix of advance wars style gameplay and Weird West plot. More games should aspire to take the best elements of good stuff and mix it together into a well-polished, fun and affordable game experience that doesn't load you down with micro transactions! Sadly, the game crashes on me constantly - about every other turn it'll freeze up and about every third time I launch it it'll crash. My advice as a game dev - take a few sprints and invest in automated testing, guys. It'll pay dividends in ways you can't imagine.

Solid but Lacking. Every time Mina mobile releases a new game I get very excited they have all been 5 star games for me. This game is absolutely awesome. The music, sound effects, the story (still haven't beat it). The only thing that lets me down is the battle animations. When you compare this game to other strategy RPGs it excels in all area except for that. Take, in my opinion, the greatest strategy RPG ever, fire emblem. You move your units across the map, the same way you do this, but when you come into conflict you go into a better graphics fight. I know it's something petty, but it's one of the small things I've always enjoyed about other. Also the in app purchases for a paid for game. Other than those two things the game is still with the 2.99$, just not 5 stars.

Fantastic Game, needs updated, keeps crashing on new IOS. I play this game every day at work to pass time. It now crashes with IOS 11 updates, and needs updated PLEASE!!! My Favorite Game on IOS, and soon it won’t run at all! Please Update this Fantastic Turn Based Strategy Game.

Ok Game, Lacks Depth. Lost Frontier has all the makings to be a great TBS game: a big studio, nice artwork, sound logic, but it’s got a LOT of design flaws to help the gaming experience. 1) Option to zoom out on the battlefield map - the map is really big and dense. This is the most annoying feature missing imo. It's cumbersome to keep dragging the map around to memorize all the position of your enemies 2) No Surrender & Replay on the same level - Sometimes I'd like to start over without having to go back to the main menu 3) No skip button on dialogue - In that vein, if I want to replay a level I don't want to have to tap through all the dialogue

A great tactics game for iOS. This game is a nice addition to the iOS library of tactics games, do not be swayed by those who've rated it one star and just complained about the difficulty. If you're familiar with fftwotl or advance wars, you'll feel right at home. This isn't a bad game! If you have an OCD of "I must get three stars before I move on!" Then maybe this isn't for you, however, just know that you can progress through the game and grind it out a bit to return and retrieve said missed stars 👍🏽. The game feels fluid and quick plus there's a good assortment of units and legends to unlock and max out. A solid tactics mobile game.

Advanced wars cowboy style. This obviously takes homage to GBA Advanced wars series but with a western twist. This is a really good turn based strategy game. Graphics are crisp and the gameplay is solid. The AI can be dumb at times but it still is a challenge. It's worth the purchase if you like advanced wars.

Excellent Strategy Game!. One of the best RTS games on the AppStore! I wish they added multiplayer option so that we can play online and also add spectators if we wanted to just watch verses the AI. The AI is not that bad but I feel like it’s the same thing over and over so it’s easy to expect what the AI will possibly get or do. Also, please update for latest iPhones and iPads. Thank you!!

Best strategy game on iOS. It’s a game like Advance War on GBA. Recalled my childhood good summer vacation with friends. One-stop buy a Full-game, without any in-app purchase or ADs. Awesome graphic and BGM, included story mode and challenge maps. iCloud save state restore supported! You can play continue your save stage on iPhone or iPad, switch easily. Don’t worry for lost save process even you lost your iPhone. But, I found few little bugs, e.g. enemy hero’s special power disappeared when I restart the game. Unlimited moves in one round, when I click ”end turn” then exit the app from background. And this game had no updates more than 2 years after last update. Even so, it’s my favorite game on my iPhone. Looking forward lost frontier 2!

No reward. Fun game. I just beat the story games all toons max level all 3 stars all the way to level 24 on each, 3 stared all challenge maps with every character which is very hard to do and to my dismay no programmers egg congratulation for taking the time and beating the game.

Fantastic Turn Based Strategy. Could someone either open-source this or charge me $20 for a DLC expansion (just more maps, minimal effort). There simply isn’t anything else with this classic TBS format & perfect iPhone play. Kills me that it’s just sitting and growing dusty. My favorite iPhone game so far. I have searched obsessively for a turn based strategy game that incorporated terrain, unit types, capturing & defending space and am really glad I finally found Lost Frontier. It’s perfectly formatted for an iPhone screen, is easy to pick up and has alot of depth and enjoyable challenges in the campaigns. My only regret is that having finished the game twice there is no second version to buy. Well worth the trivial price and a great relief from the litany of “free to play” junk. Saddle up!

Not fitted for modern phones. I absolutely love this game, but since upgrading my old phone I don’t want to play it due to the format only being for older, smaller phones

Ignore the lames. This game is not unplayably hard. If you have trouble playing it, then you are not a fan of strategy games or any sort of critical thinking. You just like getting free wins from moving units forward across maps.

Owned this game for years and keep coming back. I think I bought this game 5 years ago, and I wanted to write a review because I just got back into it and it’s just as good as I remembered. Well balanced and interesting turn based play, Tom of replay value, and it’s not intimidating to learn the mechanics and get started. I’m mainly writing this review for the developer to encourage them to keep making this type of content. It’s a shame this didn’t get a bigger audience but if you happen on it now you’ll still love it. Also there’s no bugs or crashes which can sometimes be a concern with old games.

Almost but not quite.. The star objectives are too hard forcing frequent level restarts to achieve them but the is no “restart” option so one has to surrender, exit the level, tap through all of the story dialog again. Frustrating. Really bad user experience.

Solid little game. Fun little game. Creative unit variety. AI needs some major work, they will build non combat units (buffing units like Snake Oil Men) when they have no units left which makes zero sense. But overall it's still pretty challenging. If they added some minor RPG elements, instead of your hero/units progressing on a 100% linear path, would probably be a 5/5 game.

Fantastic Game (Don't listen to the negative reviews). Honestly love strategic RPG games like this. I've been following Mikamobile since Zombieville! Great game and story line, those who say it's too hard obviously just aren't trying hard enough. I'm not even a heavy gamer and I beat 3 story modes with 3 different Living Legends. Fun and addicting game, only thing I would recommend is to come out with more updates of this game and to be able to disable the tutorials!! Hope they come out with a second game!!!

Too difficult to enjoy. Started out fun...but difficulty sky rockets making the game not fun and too much time waiting around to earn cash or level up your hero in order to even come close to being able to clear the stage. I play tons of tactical games and this one just too overwhelming....art is great and sound is good....they just really need to balance the difficulty or offer an option to adjust the difficulty so people don't feel like they wasted their money.

Only Extremely hard mode. never leave reviews but this one is needed. The gameplay is fun the the levels are SUPER HARD. I even bought the “in app purchases” to level my heroes to the max. Nope, still incredibly hard. Looking up some reviews online, this is many people’s issue with this game. There needs to be an Easy, Hard, and Extreme mode, in my opinion. Please make these modes available. The community wants them.

5 stars!. This game is simply amazing, i don't know why some people say it's too hard..but this is strategy game (and not that hard i guess, just don't lose hope) Minor bugs, game freeze sometimes when you change to another app or lock phone while playing the game but the progress automatically saved :) I wish ally team in the game is stronger lol And anyone know how to beat last chapter? I'm stuck :'(

Some trouble. The levels start off easy but really quickly become really hard I wish was a slightly larger community to make playthroughs of so that I could play.

LOVE MIKA MOBILE. Get all mika mobiles games they are amazing I love how the characters are created and the strategy involved in all there games. But please add multiplayer in all your games such as Battleheart. LOVE THE GAMES GUYS KEEP IT UP.

Shoot-em up. Great little game. Three main characters to begin the journey but don't worry you can get them all (for free!) and they are very varied. Different strategies are definitely required based on your legend, the map and the opponent. My personal favourite so far is undertaker Harvey - and taking buildings under their noses ;op

Good game with one bad flaw. I'd like to start by saying I DO like this game. The developers have done a good job. My only real issue, and it's quite a bit issue is that once you get to level 18 of the missions it becomes stupidly difficult. And done even bother with the challenge maps because they are far too hard from the very start. I know I must just sound like a noob, but go ahead and try them for yourself if you like. I would actually challenge the developers to complete one of those levels, and I wonder if they ever properly tested them.. Resolution: add a difficulty setting.

Bob. Needs more characters

Major crash issues. I am enjoying the game a lot. Currently have a Lvl 17 and a Lvl 12 and am enjoying the difficulty, unlike others. My problem: the game crashes randomly and very regularly. Am hoping an update may come soon that might solve my issue! There is an iCloud Restore option, but I don't recall setting up any iCloud connection, so not sure what this will do and if it is safe for me to delete the app and reinstall, and then restore from iCloud... Also, Wyatt’s perk to be able to shoot enemies who are immediately next to him doesn’t work!

Doesn't quite get there. I love their other games, Battleheart being a fantastic game - so I grabbed this as soon as it came out. Happy to pay the higher price for a game that is good. That's about it however, it's good but nothing to make you go “oooh shiny” that makes me go wow. Lacks the polish of their other titles, is fairly repetitive after a short while. Has some cuteness to it that makes playing enjoyable but that wears thin fairly quickly. 3 out of 5, nudging towards 4 especially if they keep adding to it.

Fantastic Strategy Game!. I'm constantly on the look out for a great strategy and this did not disappoint. Wonderful characters with quite varied abilities which lean to different tactics. Also the fact you can get all the achievements/characters without paying for them is a real big bonus. I find that's something more apps should be doing. If you build a game right, you shouldn't need in app purchases. To make it better. Good work!

Do you like Advance Wars >> Buy This Game!. They totally copied Advance Wars and I love it! They did a really good job. Better than a lot of other AW clones I’ve played. Solid work. 9/10. I want a new ipad plz!!! I’ll do anything!

bad Advance Wars clone. Obviously this is a blatant Advance Wars clone, but with samey looking units and stupid new mechanics like werewolves that alternate between being super powerful and completely helpless.

Excellent turn based strategy game!. I downloaded this game looking for some advance wars nostalgia. It scratched that itch big time and then had me wanting more levels of this, thought it was really well made and clean. I didn’t think it was too difficult like other reviews have said, but challenge maps can be really hard if you haven’t maxed out the legend you’re using.

Mika rocks. Love this game!!

Can't beat level 3 😑. Good game, Sh*t difficulty...

One of my favourites. Great balance between real strategy and pure fun. Highly recommended!

Changes. Needs undo and restart buttons. Should show attack and move area at same time so it's easier to project where hits will land in each position.

Excellent.. Really liked this game. Can't get 3 stars throughout though

Dissapointing. Have fun getting whooped

Amazing.. Mika mobile never ceases to amaze me!!!

Good game. Still bugs though (for example Legends' health don't increase as they should by levelling them up.

Terrible difficulty. Some levels are easily exploitable while others are absolutely tedious. The game gets near impossible at Chapter 15. Why make it so difficult? It has a graphics style for children. Children can’t beat this level of difficulty... Not fun. Uninstalled, wish I could get a refund.

Great game. This game is so much fun and is really exciting

Easy mode would be nice. I find myself getting killed even with the in app purchase.

Zombie frontier beautiful. RPG evolution outlandish western, thank you all, beautiful, nice smooth transition to turn based gaming experience, perfect👌

Fun and challenging. It it getting challenging every game, cool!

Great game!. People complain this game is too difficult but I’ve beaten this game with every hero and have achieved 3 stars on every level and without buying into any in-apps. I won’t lie, it took awhile. I do wish the developers would update it with some more levels though it’s so much fun.

Awesome. Awesome game, you get a really high amount of playtime vs $$ invested

Tough. Love it so far... Getting pretty tough. Solid characters and gameplay. Have to use good strategy every fight to be successful. That's the way it should be.

Mika did it again.... Super polished in every aspect, and blends Advance Wars with RPG mechanics extremely well.

After the first level the game takes a noticeable difficulty spike which is fine but as the game progresses the difficulty gets just dumb to the point where it would be impossible to get 3 stars. Once u get to the levels where u face undead hordes their is no yo little strategy its just the enemies all out rushing u and your defenses getting slaughtered. This is especially so for the spell casting undead that get extreme range and damage and can attack and move on the same turn. To make matters worse they turn the defenses they kill against. This game could be solid but with ridiculous difficulty its just extremely dumb and boring. As the game is now its not worth the 3 bucks

Challenging and Deep. I expected this to be like many of the advance wars clones but with just a skin change. I was wrong. I am on the 21st tutorial/campaign mission. I have seen nearly all of them requiring some deep thought as to the approach to take to survive/win. I have not 3 starred more than a few. It requires flexible thinking. When do you charge, when do you defend a choke point and attrit the enemy force, when do you go after key targets and when do you have to be willing to give up ground. In addition to positional and terrain concerns this is a lot more than rock/paper/scissors. The different forces have numerous potential interactions. Your conventional troops have a mix of abilities but the addition of steam powered units and the undead really add multiple dimensions to play. Make sure to use a mixed force and to learn the strengths and weaknesses of all your units. That will give you your best chances. This is a great game for even a much higher price. Thanks for pricing this at an accessible level. If you like turn based combat that makes you think give this a try. Despite what some have said there are no IAPs at current g.

Perfect mobile strategy game. So far I love it. I have managed to get three stars on the first 5 levels that I have played. Levels 4 and 5 probably took 15-20 tries each to get that elusive 3rd star. The great thing is that I learn a little bit each time. Knowing how to use each unit to maximum effect, and more importantly which unit to buy is key. It is difficult but fair. The value for your money is insane. I will easily have several hundred plays before finishing with my first character, and there are three to play plus the challenge maps.

Fun Game, but bugs ruin the experience. I really like the game, but it crashes every time I return after hitting the home button or locking my phone. That happens constantly when your playing mobile games, so it's a real problem. Maybe it is iOS 10 related. If they fix that issue, this would be a 5 star game.

I enjoyed it. was looking for something similar to Advance Wars... decided to try this one... & i’m glad i did. this is a fun and challenging strategy game.

Difficulty. I love the game this game and I play it with my friends but if you are new to strategy games this is not for you

A wonderful, modern AdvanceWars. If you liked AdvanceWars, this game will be great for you. Gameplay and difficulty is perfect for gamers used to the genre and those good at analyzing situations. Graphics are smooth and to my liking. Music and sound effects are spot on. There're a few places where buttons and controls can use some customization and optimization. (Ex. Turning off confirmations and moving "exit" and "surrender" buttons.) All-in-all the game is a lot of fun and most definitely helps alleviate the drought we've been having in the genre, and not just on mobile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

great strategy game. i love these kind of games (starting with the original "empire - wargame of the century" 20 years ago) and this one is the best of its kind. several people here say it is too hard. i find the dificulty perfect. a good challenge but far from impossible. also one needs to do the story mode first. anyway, a very well thought out and tested game.

Unnecessarily frustrating. EVERY attack by your team has the frustrating problem of always leaving 1 health on your enemy. Very cheap move by Mika to make the game more difficult. How do they do this? Your attack has a range of damage, say for example 40-60. Guess what? It’s never 60, it’s ALWAYS 40. Such a great game being made bad by poor decisions on gameplay.

Great Game, needs some tweaking. This is a very well thought out and fun game but it needs a little work. First off the levels are very challenging and the first 10-20 need some cooling down because they are not a very welcoming start to the game. Also it would be nice if the legends would level up while playing custom games so "evil" legends can actually level up without playing impossible challenge missions. Multiplayer battles and a fog of war would also be nice. Other than that, it is a fun game and definitely one worth buying.

Grind. Grind. Grind.. I am not a fan of the level design with the layout of almost each game being you having 5-8 units, no income. Enemy: 10-30 units, decent income. Other than that, fun game

Great game by great developers. This game is already a good bet for fans of games like Fire Emblem and Advance Wars (more similar to the latter). The unique setting is a nice change of pace. There is a reasonable length campaign (24 missions), a bunch of challenges after the campaign, and local multiplayer against human or AI. Mika mobile has also stated that they may implement online multiplayer in the future if the demand is high. The current game is already a good purchase, but as a bonus Mika mobile has a solid record of supporting their apps after release so we can expect to see some updates down the line which should further increase the value proposition.

From the makers of Battleheart, a turn-based variation. I'm a big fan of Mika mobile's Battleheart series. This newest game take that style and gameplay and transplants into to a Wild West/Steampunk/Gothic setting. The real-time mode, pseudo-3D has been modified into a turn-based, top-down version. The gameplay is more strategic and less frantic than Battleheart's but the same polish and forethought are there. The art style is same anime-ish cartoon as before; it's great. The setting has been moved to the Wild West but slowly adds in Steampunk and Gothic horric elemets (you'll soon be facing things like Steam tanks and werewolves). I highly recommend. The only criticism would be the AI, the computer is not that smart (i.e. sending in one unit at a time or purchasing the wrong type of unit to counter yours).

what great game with no loot box garbage. This plays a lot like advance wars/command and conquer. Way better than any other iOS games I’ve played in similar vein.

Great!. This is game is great for anyone who may have enjoyed the advance wars series. It offers some missions that are completed with general ease and some missions that took me quite some time to complete. It is extremely difficult to be OCD and get all the stars but it is complete able nonetheless. Overall this game is wonderful and has had me hooked for several days playing this over some more in depth games I have and enjoy. Would love to see a map editor which would add even more replay ability but overall a great game that gave me a bit of nostalgia with some wonderful new and exciting environment.

*Perfect game...except for the difficulty. Like most of the other reviews are saying...this game has some major problems with difficulty settings. It's completely random. An easy fix to this would be to add the ability to adjust difficulty on an individual level basis. Due to this issue, I find myself not playing this game nearly as much as I'd like to. If this problem was fixed I would be all over it all the time. Other than this issue, the game is awesome. I was a huge fan of advance wars and this a great reimagining of that game. Same mechanics with better graphics and animation and a new setting/story.

I wish I knew there were supernatural element to this game. Idk why it really turned me off! I was enjoying it before then..take out the “weird” stuff and there should be less dialogue… Loved battleheart legacy where fantasy actually makes sense

Very fun, light strategy game. Fun game with good music and visuals though the AI is pretty weak and it seems silly you still have to sit through all the tutorial messages even after you beat the campaign and are using unlockable characters meaning you must have already played through all the tutorials already and know how the units work. Also just a few bugs I want to report. Only one is legitimately game breaking, and it's a very niché scenario: -If the final enemy unit is a Machine and Crazy Jake destroys it and converts it to his side using his Legend ability, the game soft locks as it doesn't recognize that the last unit was killed and the end of the mission doesn't trigger, so you can't finish the level and are forced to surrender. After spending a solid 20-30 minutes on one of the later missions, this was a very annoying glitch to run into. -Crazy Jake's ability "Better Than New" does not do anything. I hand tested it in a custom game and it never raised a unit's attack values or (as far as I could tell) defense. I tried Jake healing undamaged unit, Jake healing damaged unit, Engineer healing undamaged unit, Engineer healing damaged unit, and none of it provided the unit with the effects of Snake Oil (unless you meant that as a joke, like how "Snake Oil" is phony in real life, though I doubt that was the intent in game as Snake Oil men do in fact serve a purpose in game). -Nadia Ramanov's units are supposed to have a 20% attack bonus during night time, but the reverse is actually true, she gets 20% attack bonus during daytime and no bonus at night which doesn't fit her vampire theming. -Clive Hawkins is supposed to get extra money during daytime, but he instead gets extra money during night time. -Edmund Ghast is supposed to get extra money at night but he gets it during the day. I'm just gonna go out on a limb and assume all day/night Living Legend interactions are accidentally reversed, as while I haven't tested all of them, all the interactions I've teated are backwards. -Edmund Ghast's legend ability where all his units adjacent to a friendly grave yard heal 30%, doesn't care whether or not the UNITS are friendlies. Meaning in an Edmund mirror match, the enemy Ghast gets healing from your graveyards. Seems like an oversight, should probably only heal friendly units not just "Any player who happens to be playing Ghast.

Phenomenal. Mikamobile has always been an auto-buy for me, and this game is yet another home run in my eyes. The game is pretty difficult but requires some serious thought into your moves, otherwise you'll find yourself quickly overpowered by your enemies. The game is very well balanced and is clearly made by people who really genuinely love games. Please give this game a try. Mikamobile is one of the best indie game developers out there and this game is another testament to their creativity and dedication.

BEST MOBILE DEVS:. Updated review: Mika Mobile has set the bar quite high. This game is great, but it misses the mark. Should you buy? Absolutely! But the progression is the main issue. It chooses upgrades to troops based on level ups. Instead of choosing a character to level up that is restricted, one should be able to choose their own path to specialize in, with more rewarding upgrades along a skill tree. Ive seen complaints about difficultly. The game isnt hard for seasoned players (yet!) but it needs to ease players into it much more, and not be unfair. That said, the units and tactics are anazing and flow quite well. It deserves 5 stars for sure, and hopefully changes will be made to revamp the progression and difficulty systems. Old review: Mika Mobile, you are the light in the darkness of money-grabbing knockoffs. I havent even opened this game, but I already know that the ONLY games it might not beat are games ALSO from Mika Mobile!

Great for advance wars fans. This game is great! Very similar to advance wars

Excellent turn-based strategy. This game is great. They took the classic turn-based strategy format, and added a little character progression to keep you motivated. I love the guitar music on the mission select screen. I do have one gripe. I feel it's a design flaw. The health bars are below the characters. When chars are stacked on top of each other the health bar of the top character is much closer to the character below and I keep healing the wrong guy as a result. Please fix.

Awful. Awful

Needs update. Too many glictches can’t select troops screen moves

Good story, although some stuff feels out of place. I will say that the immersion factor was amazing... Until the tanks. I loved the sound of the gunfire and the medical system until I saw the steam tank, which I would've been okay with, but one huge improvement to the art would be to make it look like a lump of rusty steel and not so factory perfect. Same goes for other vehicles. I also don't like the overuse of the match game that slowly devalues infantry as vehicles are introduced, but AW and Warbits did that a lot worse, I guess, cause the infantry still feels valuable for more than just capturing here. Also, the difficulty is all over the place, but if you're not OCD about getting all the stars you will be able to finish the story. I will note that a great example of a poorly tested level is the one where gyrocopters are introduced; they come in a group of three while cannons try to pin you down from the other side of the cliff, and I had to work my way out of a 57 round hole to finally win that one.

Difficulty ramp needs adjusting. The game gets super hard very quickly. I have loved Mika Mobiles other games, and I want to love this one. By the time you get to chapter 4, forget it.

Great Turn Based Strategy Game!. Great game. Lots of units to choose from and levels to play. Very polished game overall.

High quality but misses the mark. I love mikamobile games. I've played them all and finished them all. This has the level of quality that I've come to enjoy from them, and a unique art style and play style, but the gameplay leaves a few things to be desired and a lot of frustration that might turn off non-diehards. The biggest problem is the difficulty is all over the place. I've replayed the same levels many times and sometimes I nail it proudly, other times I'm slaughtered before I even begin. The game is way too hard in the early levels. Way way too hard, and inconsistent. The other thing I miss is an RPG style upgrade tree. Why do I care about XP and leveling up if I can't see my upgrades, or pick them, or understand what action leads to XP? The game has little replayability without it, and I'm just trudging through the story. I wish more time has been put into balancing and RPG elements than into the challenge and custom modes -- what's the point of those modes if your character lacks customization to encourage play? I get the game is more about strategy and utilization but then it should have been just about that without any RPG elements. This is a 3 star review but it's a 4 star game. So that's how I'll rate it, I'm enjoying it more as I play but I nearly put it down forever after the first hour of frustration,

Greatness. I see a lot of people are saying this is too difficult but I'm not finding it that so. Had to repay a few levels but that should be expected and I haven't 3 starred many. Every time u play win or lose u gain exp which makes either your main character better or another unit so if ur stuck after a few tries u should get something to make it easy. So far this is a lot like advance wars but I like the legend character on the field.

Fun killing difficulty. The game concept is solid. However it quickly becomes way too hard to be any fun. Can't recommend

Disappointed. There needs to be major tweaks made to both level design and game mechanics. I'm a huge fan of Mika Mobile, but this game needs work. The early levels don't even try to ease you into the strategy element mostly because the early levels are too difficult to be called introductory. A lot of times you start hilariously outnumbered, which doesn't make the game difficult, just unfair. There aren't enough balancing mechanics to the troops, it all feels very shallow. I'm a turn-based strategy nut, and I feel that this game is heavily inspired by advance wars/fire emblem, but it fails to strike that balance between difficulty and fair scenarios. I want to love this game I really do, but it just doesn't sit with me in it's current state. Here's hoping the game will be more polished in the future.

Scratch the advanced wars itch. This game is the closest thing I’ve found. The game feels polished and the story is just interesting enough to give some context to the levels. This game has same device multiplayer which was really fun to play. I did miss a “fog of war”. I think it’d add a lot. Thanks for the great game!

This game is terrible. Not on par with their other games. I want my money back.

Difficulty is random!. I love playing this game. But the difficulty is all over the place. I beat the first 3 levels without losing, although with only 1 star most of the time. But after that, I have had to play some levels 8-9 times before I am able to beat it. I almost never have problems with games, but playing the same level over and over again to get to the next level to play over and over again is very frustrating. The losses are usually bad at the beginning. I have 6 units and no money and get 200 dollars per turn. The computer has 15 units, 2 taverns for making more units and gets 400 per turn. So they usually destroy me. But who can win with those odds?!?! Then when I finally do beat it, it's a significant victory. It seems like there is no happy medium.

Unbalanced. Fun but way too unbalanced to be enjoyable after the first few missions. I want to enjoy the well done game dynamics but can't.

Great Game. One of the best strategy games i have ever played. It's fun, smart with excellent storyline.

Man up, there's no spoon feeding. I like the game in general. The wierd west says it all :P. Tho, skill tree does make things better tho. This game is basically like Aw & Fe for the price of one. A little improvements regarding to human units and some others. I'd recommend human units to be a bit cheaper, same to gyros and allow the gattling gun to counter, so its melee won't be useless. Also, add some more monster units, they're quite underpowered (except for those goddang wolves :P). 5/5, must buy. For those who think this game is too hard and a fail, man up! There's no spoon feeding in this game. Too easy and it's boring. [To Mikamobile] At least give them a little easier difficulty to quit their whining.

Way too hard. This game is insanely difficult.

Needs bug fixes. This is a great game! However there are lots of bugs that need to be fixed!

Awesome Game. Well-balanced casual tactics game, super fun to play. Mika knows how to make great games!

Good, could have been more interesting. Good thing first: good strategy game. Theme and story line is good. Lots of levels, currently 24. Have three modes to play: main story, challenges, custom games. Interesting part is legends which are main characters with special characteristics. Not good part: it's get very hard in story mode after level 15. You can literally feel that it's one sided which kills interest. I am stuck at level 16 from last 4 days. Another boring part is that you cannot skip opponents move. U have to wait until opponent completes his move, you have fast forward option but still it takes time and Kills fun. There are similar turned based strategic games but this one has potential to be unique with several changes.

Wow!. I've always wanted a western strategy game since like forever. Mikamobile has totally hit the mark with a sensationally fun and challenging western strategy game with a little twist. The game has several units at the player's disposal that range from "cowboy tanks" to werewolves! The combat and story are great, along with an awesome random match lobby. I did find the matches a little chaotic though with multiple players all going and moving several units. I did also encounter a few bugs along the way with camerawork and a couple weird story missions. There is like no real explanation to what strategy in the game looks like, but I loved that aspect! Awesome game, I'd love more like it! Totally worth the $!!!

Awesome game..... When it’s not constantly crashing.

Great overall. If you like Advance Wars with a western-ish steampunk-ish twist, this is the game for you. SUGGESTIONS: - Fix for map images not appearing in Custom Game - Map Editor and maybe a way to share custom maps

Too Difficult and Too Simple. Too difficult for the casual gamer -- the enemy usually outnumbered the player 4/1. Too simple for the hardcore gamer -- the units are unbalanced without enough variables.

Excellent Turn-Based Strategy Game. The game is extremely fun and time consuming, which makes me feel as though it was money well-spent. I enjoy strategy games and although this game, like many others have mentioned, is very difficult, it is doable and that it what matters. Trial and error are key in this one. Overall, I do agree in further updates difficulty should be moderately decreased, but who knows, that may make it too easy!

Fire Emblem meets Western. LOVING this game! It is very much like the Fire Emblem games with a western cowboy theme. The controls are fantastic and music/audio has a catchy western feel. I've put in about 10 hours so far and only about 4 missions out of 24 or however many. You can pass each mission with 1-3 stars; if you just go for 1 star it's pretty easy. But going for all 3 is quite challenging, even on the early missions. If you like Fire Emblem (or FF Tactics) you will most definitely get your money's worth.

Refunding. The game is not optimised for phones with notch. Moreover, it takes even less space and shows black bars. I have requested a refund, but will buy it once the developer updates the game with this.

Crashes Constantly. Running it on a 6S Plus, and it crashes once every 2-3 minutes, almost unplayable. Would be great if it worked....

Was fun at first, but gets stupid hard fast. Game was going well and fun, then with no warning, you have to fight six times as many enemies AND incredibly strong werewolves that also outnumber you AND you are trapped in a corner AND you can’t build more troops. Progress stops at that point. Very unfair!
