Bull Crap. This app does not pick up my LIFX lights and I’m sure it won’t work for your either. Waste of money.

Zero Stars Don’t Buy!!!. You have to use your camera to steam live video feed to work the hue lights. Sad App = No Stars

Not too shabby!. Sync delay is approx 1-2 seconds, which is not too bad. The only possible issue that I see is a background/foreground color mismatch, where a character wearing a red shirt standing in a blue background causing the app to project out a vivid red back light. This is not the dev's fault by any means and I think this app is as good as it gets.

Hue tv is not working anymore!. It used to work for a while and now the hue bridge doesn’t synchronize with the app. I paid for this app a doesn’t work.

Developers non responsive. I love this app when it works! However, it rarely does. You can set it up and it works beautifully only to see that within a few hours or days the app has closed and must be restarted. I have contacted the developer but they have not responded.

Throw in pinch to zoom.. Just needs zoom. This is the app to get for your movie room setup. I like placing my box either in the middle of the screen since this gives you smoother transitions, but there are some times when I place a rectangular box capturing the top of the tv for a the scenes bleeding into the room. Works great with 1 ceiling light and a strip behind the tv. BTW you get to pick the brightness levels.

Does an okay job!. I have Hue Sync Box on my main TV but use a Lifx strip on my smaller TV in the sunroom. For fun, I downloaded this this week because I miss my Hue Sync box when I spend spring and summers out in the sunroom. No problem connecting with my Lifx bulbs (didn’t try Hue yet). It works well - the lag is barely noticeable and you can adjust the brightness and intensity. The only issue I’m having is the camera/focus box at minimum size is still too big for my 32” TV. So I get some black upper/lower areas of a movie and even some of the backs of my wall. I don’t have anywhere closer to the TV to position my iPad, but for my limitations (32” TV corner mounted at the ceiling) and the price it does the job. It works better on my iPhone X than iPod Air 2.

Regret buying. I regret wasting $2.99 on this. The delay from screen to lights was nearly 10 seconds. It made the atmosphere/ambience completely out of place. Imagine a dark scene that's supposed to have blues and purples show up bright reds, oranges, and yellows. I was expecting a better than this. I want a refund as it's useless and pointless to use an app that doesn't work as its intended.

The best option. While it's not perfect this is a way better option than the other app out there that I wasted my money on. Plus this one actually let's you focus and gets updates. This is a far better option. Does what it says it'll do but do expect a little latency.

Wife Approved!!. I set this up in my man cave for the Super Bowl. The wife came in and said “Wow! I love your TV light!” This is the first tv sync app I have tried and decided to buy it based on the reviews. It is very easy to setup. I mounted and old iPhone on the wall behind my couch. I flipped the camera around to use the front facing camera so I could see the screen for setup. I connected my hue lights and it started working right away. The device can be either vertical or horizontal. You can define a “pinch” box to tell the app which part of the camera picture to analyze to drive the color lights. You can configure 5 color modes, but the documentation is sparse on what they do. You’ll just have to experiment to find what works best with your setup. Overall, this is a very cool way to get tv color synchronized with your smart color lighting.

Better than Hue Camera. The fact that you can resize the area to be captured made a whole difference!

Camera Freezes!. Needs work.

Good App for Movie Time. If you’ve got an old iPad lying around, this can add some real ambiance with the LIFX Z or Hue Lightstrip.

App is terrible. This app basically makes your lights have seizures. Absolutely horrible. Almost as if it just cycles through the rainbow, has absolutely zero correlation with what’s playing on the TV... do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Fun novelty. I do not find much lag at all with this app. I am using an iPhone 6+ with a gigabit LAN and an original hue base with 7 gen 1 hue bulbs and light strip. I agree with some of the other reviews that the lights changing all the time in the room can distract from the tv but is fun for some shows. I don't like that it does not drop the light to very dull or off during dark scenes. It holds the last light setting before the screen went to the dark scene. Hopefully they will fix this issue soon. I would think that should be easy to program. I am happy I purchased.

Does exactly what I dreamed of.. This app transforms your hue powered room into an immersive experience. The app works as advertised with a clean user interface. Last night I propped my phone up on my coffee table cropping the yellow bound box to focus on my tv. I then started to watch BBCs Planet Earth and selected three lights. My entire house reflected the energy of the screen. As predicted, I have a slight delay, maybe half a second, but it is understandable. Use this app with certain movies, and sports, that may not change scenes so often. Totally worth it and effective. Thanks for developing.

Not working!. Not working recently!!! App does not trigger the camera at all! Please fix it!

great!. This app works beautifully. I encountered absolutely Zero issues with my Hue lights. There is not much customization necessary, (it's pretty much plug-and-play), but what you need/want is available. I am so glad I bought it. Just watched the Martian with this app zoomed in on my TV screen. I am just so impressed there were absolutely no issues- it works & feels great! effortless and fun to play with . Just an extremely well developed & engineered app. thanks!!

Love it but needs updates for ios10. Love all but would love to see ability to tag lights and if on left or right side of tv. Also need more options for the camera since colors wash out when in a dark room with only a few lights on. Besides those points. Not a bad app!

Broken App, No response from support. I've waited a week to hear from support and gotten nothing. This app CRASHES on an iOS 9 iPad, though the developer claims it works under iOS 9. It also crashes in iOS 15.3 on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. So if it's a hardware issue, it's a VERY large compatibilitiy issue. Further, the app, on those rare occasions it doesn't crash, it refuses to connect to Nanoleaf devices, and most of the time never finds them. This app has NEVER worked for me as advertised, and the developer does not respond. DO NOT BUY.

distracting. whats intended to be immersive im afraid is more of a distraction. constantly changing colors, and at too slow of a rate as well. detracts from viewing experience rather than enhances. will keep an eye on the technology as it develops, as the concept is intriguing, however it's not quite there yet.

Best App for Hue Lights!. My whole family LOVES this app! It completely transformed our "theatre" room into a complete submersion effect with our lights. Feels like a $1,000 setup for just a few bucks and super easy to setup. Completely changes the way we watch movies (and tv shows).

Best HUE tv sync app. App works very well. I bought all Hue apps. This has the most features.

Love it!. Very cool! Works with any movie or TV show. I have no delay with my Hue bulbs. My only wish is that dark scenes a would dim the light to darken the room. Great job team!

Not worth it. Waste of money

Hardly and Lag! Multiple settings!. I was very surprised how well this actually works! If you are not using your phone or have a secondary device, this app is amazing! There is basically no lag in transition from screen to lights. There is multiple settings that can allow you to manually adjust the syncing if you feel like it’s just not quit enough or is too much. This is one of the best sync hue apps out there!

Best option for tv sync without “Hue Sync”. I’ve used this app for over a year now. It is a must for movie night. Easy connection. I use my iPad at the camera for light syncing. I have used my phone when needed with no issues. You just have to have a good enough angle to see the whole picture without being a distraction for your viewing. I normally use a coffee table or back corner of the couch. Needed update, being able to select where on the screen each light selects color from. Love this app

Hue now makes a product that makes this obsolete. Attention everybody! This app is now obsolete. Hue actually makes a product now called Hue sync box, which is a physical hdmi device, it is f’n amazing and everything this app is not. My biggest gripes with the app was the lag time. Even if very little lag time, it’s disorienting. The lights must be truely in sync for it to be immersive and enjoyable. The lag time ruins the entire experience because the lights are always a scene or camera shot behind and most movies especially action movies switch the screen to a different camera very frequently. You also have to point the camera at the screen meaning u can’t use your phone while using the app

Great addition to any home theatre, if done right.. I used an old iPhone mounted near a plug to constantly monitor my tv screen, the app is always running on the iPhone (as long as it's unlocked/on) and connected to to three Phillips hue color bulbs and the LED light strip behind the tv. The app seems to know which bulb is located on which side of the tv and really enhances any viewing experience. It also allows you to define which area of the screen to track for colors, so you don't have to have your phone perfectly lined up with your tv. I set the brightness of the bulbs (through the app, when it's running it kinda takes over the bulbs it's using (which you can select)) brighter for gaming which really helps to immerse you and then darker/more moody for films which really helps to set the tone, and when I don't want the effect I simply lock the iPhone or exit the app and the bulbs return to normal, basically like getting up and flipping a light switch, super neat! It has its flaws, but I'm not sure if it is the app or the bulbs as they are seemingly quite buggy (the bulbs, still worth it, imo) but sometimes the colors lag briefly, and you have to be kinda lucky to do what I've done (with having an old iPhone, mount, and proximity to an outlet so it's constantly powered) unless you don't mind firing up the app on your normal phone each time and just propping it up, but again, if you just use it for movies or gaming, that's really not the end of the world, and for sure worth the slight effort. I'm REALLY hoping the devs continue to update and ad more control for the number of lights and positioning and such, but as is its significantly added to my home theater experience.

Just OK. Everything works fine, except that it can't focus very well on the image. I can't figure why. The camera focus works just fine using the camera app of the system itself. My device is iPad mini 2. Could you please check it out?

Won’t sync. I paid for the app it won’t sync to my LIFX bulbs. It isn’t picking them up at all.

Very cool. Would get the full 5 stars if the bulbs would turn off on dark scenes. When watching in the dark, scenes aren't as powerful when the screen goes dark, but bulbs keep last color used. Other than that the progression and settings are great.

awesome app! best of it's kind. this app is worth every penny. it's more accurate than any other app out there as far as reproducing the main colors on the tv. it's really well-developed and absolutely effective. I adjusted my settings, propped my phone up, zoomed in on my tv, and the results were impressive. until they develop a smart tv app that will communicate directly with hue lights... this is your best option for enjoying hue lights syncing with whats on your tv.

Nice early version. I really appreciate the ability to crop the TV screen within the cameras view. Surprised similar apps haven't done this. Need some info on initial setup and finding hubs. Can't wait to see what updates bring.

App works great but where are the updates ?. Great app and once you figure out how to fine tune it , its a lot of fun especially gaming. However I regret buying because the developers have abandoned all their apps for over a year.

Garbage. Whoever came up with this is not all there. So I'm supposed to hold phone perfectly in the frame of the tv for the whole movie? How do I get my money back?

Works nicely. Set up your phone on a mini tripod and you're all set. Works as advertised!

Will Not Connect. I’ve played around as much as my patience could survive. I have no doubt if you can get it set up to watch it would be a really nice effect. Does anyone know how to set up an iPad please please let us know.
