Hi-tech uselessness. Maybe a great idea if you are a regular to Witherspoon’s but an otherwise pointless gadget that will be deleted from my phone as soon as I leave. During the time it took to find a free table, download the app and order, three waiters/waitresses passed by but didn’t look my way. Then, you can’t stagger the order so all arrived almost at the same time and the waiter couldn’t find my table. Know where your tables are people... the only reason I even spent the time to write all this is that my plane is delayed.

Acceptable concept, lame execution. If you are going to force people to order with an app, you better make it clear that this is required. And the app better be really good and highly responsive. Self-service coffee and tea in a restaurant context is absurd. Bring a teapot instead! Who wants to leave their bags alone at an airport? Never coming here again... and will be sure to advise anyone who asks not to bother.

Needs a little something. So traveling to london quite often ive noticed with breakfast the eggs come fried over easy, REAL OVER EASY. There should he a add comment section to the order so you can request over hard or even ask for an extra glass or maybe even no sausage. Random things so you can still use the app as intended i.e. not getting up and going to the bar. Other than that its great. Oh and BTW the food in the beaten docket and moon underwater (near edware) needs some work. Dry and old tasting.

?. You have to enter your credit card when you download the app, but when you order, it won’t let you pay with that credit card. You have to take a picture of your card - which did not work in my case - or manually enter the card again. Very frustrating.

Terrible app system. The cafe seems ok, but the menu is somewhat limited and the app system makes ordering very inflexible—no way, for instance, to indicate “no meat”. The app also failed 3 times in the course of submitting a small order. And when one is laden with bags at an airport ordering at the bar is very inconvenient. You still have to go to a coffee bar for coffee, and then all the coffee machines were out of milk. I should have given this place 2 stars.

Wetherspoons is a cheap insult. Wetherspoons is a cheap insult to anything calling itself a pub across the entire european union. i would rather spend my time smoking and drinking polish beer in a belarussian dive bar than come back to wetherspoons. cocktail pitchers are a decent deal. 2/10

Super Easy and Efficient to Use. I have travelled extensively and this concept has got to be the most efficient and easy to use ordering system I have ever seen. USA should get their heads out of their rear end and adopt this concept!!!! Thank you.

Cool app. From America and wasn’t fully aware of how to use the app. Had to figure out on my own and I was starving. Make sure you pay for your food or else your order will not be placed. Save yourself the headache.

Not intuitive. Downloaded the app, got the order in, and then went to pay. It didn’t like my American Visa card (not unusual due to the requirement for a signature which is not used in the UK). So I picked an Amex card and got through the ‘verified’ screen. What wasn’t apparent was the OK button that was hidden way down the page with no indicator showing we’d need to scroll down to find. So we kept sitting and waiting and when I went to check to the order found that it hadn’t even been submitted. Eventually we got it figured out but not a fan...

App is confusing and doesn’t allow much personalization. We were unable to personalize our meals easily through this app and it took way longer to order through this than it would have if we just were able to talk to a waiter. Not sure why this app is being pushed except that it’s a probable attempt to mine data. I shouldn’t have to download an app to eat at a restaurant! Just let me order with a person!

Great system in place. Food, environment and the system they have in place to order and get a table is great. Find a table, go place an order or find a table and place an order from your phone. Staff is good also. No complaints food options are endless

Happy customer. App was easy to find, download, and use. Got to my table, downloaded the app, and ordered my food in under 5 minutes. Great model for other restaurants to follow.

Great app. I love this app Card doesn’t always scan but heck of an app. I really enjoy wetherspoons and the app just makes it that much more enjoyable. Keep doing what y’all doing for real.

No Information No Assistance No Hope. If you want to change the way a restaurant works, you need to teach the customer the new paradigm. Putting the information that the seated customer must now download an app to order food on a wrinkled T-Shirt that whisks past you infrequently or a T-Shirt of a disinterested person who is too busy having a personal conversation with another person wearing the same wrinkly T-Shirt is probably the least effective way to teach the customer your think-groups new method for ordering food. If we all must wait on ourselves: at least inform us that we must do everything besides cook.

Wetherspoon app. Very quick, efficient and smart. The major problem is that you are unable to edit any orders from the way they come.

Confused but now I got it. I sat in the restaurant for 20min before realizing I had to download the app. After I go the app everything was easy!!

Poor service. It was my first time having lunch here at The First Forty and I was disappointed to be honest. The tables were dirty and wasn’t cleaned after guests left and the waiters were unfriendly as well I wasn’t impressed with the food either So it’s a NO for me. I won’t be visiting again

Love it!. For solo travelers, this is perfect. These pubs are always busy, you can find your table and then order. They don't have every guest ale listed on the app, but that's a small inconvenience.

Looks nice .... The app looks nice and seems to flow and function ok but had several problems for me. 1) although my sat nav is spot on it tells me I’m not at the pub I’m sitting in 2) the app doesn’t know the specials pricing - so check closely when ordering and paying. 3) can’t remove standard sides from a dish or ask for a substitute

A+. Versatile, lively, friendly, and fabulous! Good variety of food, great portions, and quick service with a smile. Fantastic ambiance, too! It’s one (of too many) reasons I love Wellington!

Ridiculous and superfluous.. A normal procedure for ordering would make the experience perhaps more efficient than excessive technological advancements. I have used the app for my entire order, but cannot order a side of Parmesan cheese for my dish unless I go up to the counter and order that small condiment separately and lay for it separately. I would appreciate an atmosphere in which I didn’t feel like I am a walking, breathing itemized bill. Very poorly thought out. This also disincentivizes the waitstaff to be personable and helpful. I will never eat anywhere that uses Wetherspoon again. Give me a McDonald’s ordering Automat. Better technology and service at McDonald’s for the value.

Great Pub. We’ve eaten at Swan & Angel for two breakfast’s now and it’s wonderful. The food is great and the staff is outstanding. Highly recommended.

Easier to walk up to the bar and order. Tried using this at Edinburgh airport. The application doesn’t work well at this location. It’s much faster to walk up to the bar and order. It took a very long time to load tables and payments wouldn’t process from the application.

They app is promising on the surface. But what is the point if you never get your order?

Spoons saved my life. I’m from America. I love spoons. I’ve been to 5 different ones and I don’t understand how expensive my night life is at home in comparison. Thank you for doing the lords™️ work.

Mikey. Downloaded the app, surprised it worked as I’ve got an American account, ordered and payed with PayPal. Easy, simple to follow, and saved standing in line at the bar. Food hasn’t arrived yet so no idea if I ordered everything successfully 😳.

Waiting. We have been stupidly waiting in line to order and noticed this sign afterward!! We ordered two pints just to see if it worked... they came out before my friends food! Awesome! We will look for this in the future!

Does ok. The app works ok but doesn’t have ability to make special requests. I wanted crispy bacon instead of the slices of ham the brits call bacon. Needs to have someone walk back to meme the request for me. Got the crispy bacon though, so it got sorted.

Miss the contact. Missed out having the expertise of the service staff to ask questions, favorites , or changes . Unable to add a side of something once items added to cart . A lost opportunity to make a connection in a foreign country.

Email problem. The app accepts emails that include “+” in the address then fail to process payment. Only when you remove the “+” does the app accept payment. Note, having a “+” in an email address is totally valid and an important personal privacy enabler.

Confusing. Why add the price of the drink and then deduct it. It’s very confusing and makes you think you are over paying and none of the staff know how to use the app. If you want to offer discounts for not getting a drink then just add that as a deduction.

Sitting at your location at Heathrow airport. Downloaded. Opened. The screen popped up that asks “You are 700 ft away from our location, are you sure you...” no way to answer the question as the bottom of that pop up window is not showing up. Annoyed

Chip fiasco. We very much enjoyed our time, but it was almost derailed at the beginning by the chip selection or lack there of. Lesson learned- don’t be fooled chips are a side dish

Great App. Thoroughly enjoyed how instructive and direct the application was. There was no room for miscommunication and it was easy to order!

It just works. I rarely review apps, but this app is great! Everything just works and is intuitive. I downloaded and ordered in just a couple of minutes, which was faster than my friend who went and ordered at the bar. Good work!

Fantastic App for ordering. This app with its geolocation capability makes it the perfect app for ordering food at ‘spoons. Really easy to use and allows for Apple Pay.

Terrible idea. Such a terrible idea to make the customer do all the work. At least offer a discount if you’re going to force them to sign away their private information and do all the work themselves. Wasn’t even sure how or when the food would show up. When it did the wrapped up silverware had old dried food stuck to it. Thanks gatwick whetherspoon

Very easy but lacks cash payment. It was very easy to use. I just would’ve liked to pay with cash because I’m traveling overseas and had foreign money but had to use a card or PayPal.

Good App: Few Improvements. A few improvements to help improve the app: 1) Allow a comment section to remove items from order (example: no tomatoes on club sandwich) 2) Add a button to named “Call A Waiter” to alert a waiter that we need assistance

A Must for Restaurant Success. Great app. It just works. Makes the experience so much easier. Any restaurant that wants to be successful needs to use this service.

Lost in technology. While I am certain most of the time your app works perfectly. During my visit it did not. Felt lost in an app becoming just another number. Requiring us to try to locate someone to resolve our issues. Have to say I would rather deal with a person.

Ok Experience. We’ve been here twice and received mediocre food and service both times. Price is reasonable though and they carry the drinks we enjoy.

Better than Smashin Pasties. Since getting this app, I haven’t tugged the old meat and two veg in 28 hours and 37 minutes….Life changing!

Rubbish. Didn’t tell me lunch wasn’t being served yet. Decide what I’ll have on breakfast menu, but credit card payment requires a text that can’t receive as I’m travelling. Use a second card from a different country, same result. Go to bar and pay without issue. Complete utter waste of time

Menu times. It’s unfortunate that the food menu is not available all day. We were up early, so we had breakfast already and wanted an early lunch before flying and weren’t able to order off the lunch menu before 11 which we found quite ridiculous in an airport!!

No way to change table if mistake made. Shocking experience - even your own staff made fun of your useless app. Because there is no way to change the table number if you accidentally press the wrong button. So much for this being a simplistic and easy ordering service. The only remedy I found was to delete your stupid app and re download it again. Your app developed should go back to University and learn to code properly. Many thanks. Table 123 (finally)...

Great app. Excellent app, maybe only niggle is the GPS seems a bit off.

Bit laggy on the paypay. Wrote this review after my first experience at a Spoons (and coincidentally my first time using the app), just caused me a bit of consternation after confirming payment. Delay was brutal, nearly had to buy it again. Loaded fries ain’t worth that stress my dudes.

Excellent. Fast efficient friendly service

The future. If you’re happy to accept progression over tradition, this may well be the future. Using this app is so much more efficient than lining up, especially if the bar is busy. Plus it’s extra handy for singles, people with reduced mobility, or social anxiety. The only addition I’d like to see is a dedicated vegan section like the vegetarian/vegan menu you can get in the pubs.

37th Birthday Lunch. Excellent staff, couldn’t do enough for us especially with the kids, the app is also excellent and makes life easy as not needing to synchronise looking after kids when going to the bar 10 out of 10 Cheers

Alright but slow. Not gonna lie lads, if it’s efficiency your looking for, you’re better off going to the bar and ordering, but it’s good if your socially awkward and can’t push your way to the front of a busy bar so it’s so-so (based on experience at the collage arms in Peterborough)

Cottage Pies needs a presentation and preservation visit. the british cottage pie needs to be presented better could recommend individual bowls in a plate with peas and chips but also the one I got was inedible as it was all dried out.

The Sir John Moore - Glasgow. This place is awesome, a great range of food and drinks, really good atmosphere, shame that we are only here overnight, highly recommend having a meal and some drinks here

Burning time. I needed somewhere comfortable away from the bustle of Victoria Station and spotted Wetherspoon on the first floor accessed by its own escalator. I noticed an ad on the back of their magazine at the table that I could download their app and order and pay at my table. This was a relief because I have way too much luggage to be dragging it all through the restaurant and no way I was leaving at a table outside on the balcony. I downloaded the App on free wifi, ordered and paid for a beer and a snack and they turned up within minutes. All good I’d say!

Menu needs a tweak. Difficult to navigate from Pubs to main menu, but otherwise a fantastic app

Terrible app service. Your app closes at 11 but I was trying since 10:45pm and it was not letting me order. I would suggest fixing your app.

App does not work. I have tried to order from this app multiple times and every time it says “no menus available.” I have data and a wifi connection. Idk why it is so hard to give you my money.

Shows promise - but very very slow.. It didn’t seem to understand some meals came with a drink, and looked like it was going to charge extra for the drink, it was very very slow, to the point of being unusable. Went to the bar and ordered from a person instead, which was much faster. I did give the app a college try though. Developers: Cache the pricing information, it doesn’t need to be reloaded every time you add an item to the cart, then check again on payment and only alert the user if the price has changed.

Not for me. I want to order food from a human. Also, what if you don’t have wifi? Wait staff depend on app so interaction is minimal and not personal.

Nikhayes. Useless! The app is incomplete I order two mixed grills which come with a drink, yet the app does not take the drink order so I have to go to the bar and speak to the manager to get the drinks . It took longer than if I ordered at the bar in the first place.

Terrible way to run a business.... I downloaded the app in order to place an order while at Heathrow....and the app was so glitchy, it was impossible to process payment. Besides freezing, the button mapping was glitchy so when i tried to go to the next page on my paypal after confirming payment type, it kept errantly selecting enter a new card. Accepting this might be the only alternative, that also proved impossible as the keyboard obscured the data entry fields. Frustrated, i decided to simply sit in the restaurant and occupy a table in protest for a couple of hours. I would have gladly placed an order..... if not for the app not working.

Scanning utility is garbage. Held the camera on the card for about a minute and the app did nothing. Totally garbage scan utility.

In Market Harborough?. Who would have thought there would be better 21st century service in a place like the Sugar Loaf in Market Harborough England than anywhere else we've been in Europe or the US so far! And the food and drinks are quite fine as well!
