Started off bad. There was a glitch in the first hidden object game. For about 20 minutes I thought maybe I didn’t know what a reel is. I clicked every single pixel of that freaking reel image countless times. I’m assuming there was a hidden game behind the HOG where you have to click the image so many times before it actually lets you move on. I’m sure the iOS update on my iPad Pro 10.5 wasn’t the cause of this, or was it?

Should be up front about the price!. Started playing and then was hit with a $6.99 purchase price to continue. Sorry, but that’s too much. Especially when other people are paying $2.99. Complete turn off.

Excellent game!. A lot of these big fish games use hidden objects to get more clues but sometimes they overuse it. In this game, they used a lot of clever mini-puzzles that were actually challenging and required logic and ingenuity to figure out. The graphics were outstanding and the hints were just enough to get you looking in the right place without giving too much away. The objects in the inventory were detailed enough to know what they were and all of the puzzles made sense, which is not always the case. Best game I've played in a long time.

I upgraded my iPad and lost purchases, including downloads, when I attempted to download purchased games. I’m in the US, and on Big Fish Games, the US flag is not even an option. DO NOT PURCHASE!!

Great Game but.... I found this game shorter than other Elephant Games, which was a bit of a disappointment. However, I did really like it. The graphics were superb, as they are in all games done by Elephant. The HOS were really good and there was a wonderful variety of puzzles. The storyline was a good one as well.

Interface Issues. Good game, but VERY frustrating to touch an object but the game didn’t register it. Had to touch exact right spot to get credit for it.

Pretty good. I spent money and several hours playing this game and it was very enjoyable. However on the last task where you retrieve the letter opener from James’ dossier I was not able to select it so therefore I cannot finish the game. The developers either do not or will not assist me with the issue and told me to contact Apple.... Apple did not develop this game. I am very disappointed in the lack of support on this problem. I have purchased many games from Big Fish and this is the first time I have asked for help and I got nothing.

Slow. I was forced to download a trial version of this while playing Nevertales - The Beauty Within. So I gave it a try. Unlike most of the reviewers, I was disappointed. The app runs REALLY slowly. There is always a big delay when changing scenes. Frustrating. Significantly reduces the fun of the gameplay. The puzzles were so-so. Not worth unlocking.

Haunted hotels death sentence. I am totally upset. I'm attempting to play Nevertales: The Beauty Within, which I purchased. I am blocked because you have made it mandatory that I download a trial version of Haunted Hotel: Death Sentence before I can even play the game I wanted. I had already purchased that game as well. Now I'm forced to download the game again! Please consider removing such apps as that. Even when I press the X to get out of it, it doesn't work!

Very nice, love the price. Deleted last downloaded Haunted Hotel because it just seemed so monotonous. Liked this new one very much-loved the plot. Imagined ghosts, real villains-like the human aspect of it. A bit tired of spirits and creatures. Wonderful artwork as always, Elephant! Your artists are second to none. Thanks for having the storyline up to the same level this time. Collectibles, good HOS, but I thought a few of the games were too difficult. Best part was the low price. Excellent game play for the cost. Thank you!

Haunted Hotel Death Sentence - so far so good!. Zero stars for the Big Fish rate me pop up, but I won't punish Elephant games for BF annoying pop ups. The game itself is 5 stars. Well written, makes sense, logical gameplay, labeled inventory, interactive transporting map. Worth buying! Keep your eyes open for ghostly collectables and figurines.

Very imprecise controls. I think I would have really liked this game if it wasn't for the fact that I had to tap all over the place to select anything. For a while I thought I had it figured out by tapping slightly left of what I wanted, but that didn't work all the time, either. Just really really annoying, enough to detract from a pretty cool storyline.

Okay but too short. Totally annoying Big Fish pop ups. Totally disrupt the game. Not the game creators fault. Big Fish you're getting too greedy. The HOS are good as are the graphics. My main complaint is that is too short. I'm glad I bought it on sale as it took me only about two hrs to work through it.

Great game. So far game is a lot of fun. Only problem is that I wanted to buy the game while on sell and I don't know how to do it. If you give time for a sale please make finding the way to pay as easy as possible. Maybe a button on opening screen.

Very Interactive!. Never a dull moment with this game. All the bells and whistles with collectibles. Even when you're not sure what to do, something happens. Also much more creepy than the other Haunted Hotels. Five stars for sure!

Very short. I'm very glad that I got this on sale for it is too short. Also, all of the hotel rooms are drab, dim, and repetitive. It would have been nice to have other locations to explore instead of just the miserable hotel. A backstory would have been ideal for that. Too uninteresting to venture into the bonus chapter.

Frustrating game play. This game has, by far, the worst touch controls I’ve experienced with a Big Fish production. Throughout the game, including bonus chapter, it was necessary to touch multiple times on an object to select it, and frequently it was necessary to touch a little off to the left of the object. This behavior made all HOGs very tedious, particularly the ones where the clue is an amorphous outline and you’re not 100% you’ve chosen the correct item. But it wasn’t just the HOGs, it was the puzzles, items going into the inventory, collectibles, etc. It’s unfortunate, because the game itself is entertaining.

A Disappointment. Ordinarily, Elephant Games is one of my favorite developers, but "Haunted Hotel: Death Sentence" is just not up to EG's usual fine standards. My biggest complaint is the lack of sensitivity across all parts of the game. Whether using the map to transport or trying to select items in a HOG or scene, it is the rule, rather than the exception, to have to tap multiple times. Several times I've even had to close & reopen the game to be able to pick up an item. With this extremely frustrating glitch, it's not at all worth paying full price.

Excellent Game! Didn't Want It To End!. The best Hi t button ever - transports you to the next location! Fast refresh rate for both the Hint and Skip buttons! Loved the plot - not overly complicated! Good graphics, many HOGs and puzzles. Can't wait for the sequel!

Hotel Death. Great game. Great puzzles of varying complexity. and multilevel hidden objects. Lovely graphics and soundtrack. Bought CE for iPad, runs great on iPad 2 with iOS 9.1. At least, up to a point. I get about 2/3 through the story, definitely not completed, and am invited to "unlock" CE already paid. Hangs if I try, redirects into same screen after reboot; can't "unlock" my paid-for CE to finish regular game. Boo. Could have been a favorite.

Rather short. Shorter than most, but enjoyable and reasonably priced. I found the pop up asking for a rating to be annoying. I always rate the games. I don't need to be pestered! For $2.99, a good game. Rather easy, though I had to skip one game because I couldn't figure it out. You had to move three green and three red items into the correct places. Every time I tried to move them closer, no options were available. The help and map were both useful.

Big Fish + Elephant Games=Fantastic Fun. Another great game in the Haunted Hotel series. HOP’s and puzzles are challenging but not too difficult, and the graphics are what you’ve come to expect from the developer. In short, it’s a fun game and worth the cost.

Excellent!!. While this game may be on the shorter side, it’s amazingly good. So often the voice acting in HO games are pure cringe but not this time and the artwork was wonderfully creepy and detailed. Whoever did the artwork for Lilith created one of the best and truly scariest looking characters I’ve ever seen in a Big Fish game thus far. She always made my stomach drop when she’d come on screen. Other than that, it was the perfect mix between HO puzzles and non-HO, which is the most important aspect I always judge an HO game by. Some of them get really heavy handed with the non-HO puzzles and those puzzles are definitely not why I buy HO games.

And then there were none. I see someone else figured it out. It took me a little while to realize the connection. I am surprised the story was not cited in the credits. I have played another game based on this story, as well. I must say, this one was a bit more cliche and romanticized, as well as much shorter. The game was interesting, but it just didn't have enough of the surprise-ending factor. Truth be told, anyone who knows anything about mythology, even in passing, could take a wild guess and figure out the antagonist. In addition, the bonus chapter bordered on ridiculous with its happily-ever-after style, given the dark tone of the original story. That being said, I loved the alternate ending. I know it probably upset some people, but it made perfect sense, given the storyline.

Difficulty Options are Buggy. This game appeared to be very well done - the story pulls you in right from the start, the voice of the character you play is very soothing, but the Difficulty is bugged. I can't play with sparkles.. I like to find the answers on my own, and past that, I find them distracting. If you don't mind the sparkles, it appears to be a great game. There is a custom mode, and I turned all of the sparkle indicators off, but things still sparkled.. I tried to change it to Advanced but even though it was listed as an option, when you try and select it, nothing happens (like it wasn't programmed as a button). If the devs ever fix this, I would love to give it another shot, but til then, I am on the hunt for a new game.

Great plot and well executed. So the only thing I don't like so far is the music. There's this singing at the beginning that almost made me quit. Getting better as I move along.

LOVE IT!!. I've played a lot of hidden object games, and this is one of the better ones. I would recommend this game to anyone.

An Amazing Game!. This game is fun and has it all! From amazing graphics to animated objects with perfect sound effects, fun hidden objects games that have little puzzles to them, challenging mini games, and a fun storyline... I look for Elephant games because they only get better and they are pretty amazing. Once you find a good Game like this one that has it all its you won't want to go back to any others....

I’ve been ripped off!! Stay clear go Big Fish Games!!. I purchased this game a year or so ago but now big fish says I didn’t! I have checked other big fish games I have purchased and they all say I didn’t buy them!! Other problem with big fish they Don’t update the games so they no longer play clear on my iPad. I am contacting apple I want my money back it should be a couple of hundred dollars by now.

Frustrating. Good story, decent puzzles and HOPs. BUT! Touch sensitivity is TERRIBLE and needs to be fixed. I had to give up on several puzzles due to this. Having to tap many, many times on an object just to get it into inventory is ridiculous. Surely Elephant can do better than this. Buyer beware.

Agatha christie!. This is just like Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None (a.k.a Ten Little Indians)! Read that book, it's her best mystery thriller!!! Game so far is good, love the storyline, graphics nice, hidden objects fine, mini puzzles not hard, so far. Will wait for it to go on sale again, as many others complained of game's brevity.

Haunted Hotel: Death Sentence. Not sure if I got the title right. This game has a great story. The journal helps you stay with the story. Good graphics too. I recommend purchasing it. I did, and now I'm going to play it again

Good game!. I prefer games like this one, where the focus I son exploring and figuring things out, not the hidden object scenes. A bit overpriced, I think. At $2.99 I'd give it five stars, but at $6.99 I think 4 is enough.

A Game I Couldn't Resist To Ignore. This is really a cool and scary game to play, I just love the suspicious way to solve the crimes and found out who done it........gotta go, must find out who is behind this 😉.

Pop Ups. I don't like the pop ups either, the new owners of Big Fish should realize we wouldn't be in the game if we didn't already know about them. The advertising is a major turnoff to those of us who already purchase their products and we do t need the interruptions. It might cause some of us to stop buying their games.

Doesn't Work....Update. Keeps crashing before I even got a chance to play!!! Had to delete, please fix!!! The game was fixed and I was able to play all of it and really enjoyed it. Has everything I look for in a HOAG!!!!

Big ripoff!. So much for pay once and own it forever. Deleted the game after I purchased it. A year later wanted to play it again so I downloaded it and hit the already purchased and guess what? It had no info for my account. Big shock!

Great game for me. I loved this game. I am a senior and like playing hidden object games, however a lot of them are fake above my skill set. This game was relaxing and enjoyable for me. I wish more like this were produced for those of us that are not super players on a grand level.

really good. Although I didn't buy the full version yet, I really enjoyed the preview a lot. As someone who's played a ton of these type of games, this one is very well crafted.

Good, but short. Very short. You could tell you were just blowing through it. And the bonus chapter was also brief. But all in all a good game for the price.

One of the better games I have played. Top notch graphics. Really cool plot. Reason for 4 vs. 5 stars is that it was fairly easy and much shorter than an average game. But good value for money, particularly when on sale. Recommended.

I don't write many reviews but I think this game deserves a shot. Get it while it is on sale and you won't be so disappointed with it's length.

Well Done!. The Haunted Hotel games are a sublime combination of pathos and creepiness. The pathos keeps you emotionally involved with the characters, and the mysterious atmosphere and slowly revealed plot keep you searching. I am looking forward to the next game!

The environment was creepy, the music was creepy, and there were whispers all about that were super creepy. The animations were great as well as the map and hint system. Such a great game!

Love Death Sentence to Death!. Haunted Hotel: Death Sentence seems like another superior game by Elephant Games. I jumped at the chance to purchase it at such a low price! You are a detective searching to see if your other detective buddy, James, is still alive after searching the Haunted Hotel. The mood is suitably creepy, with mood music and dark, eerie rooms to explore. As in most Elephant Games, you are given a good Hint and Skip button, and a super Teleporting Map function. The puzzles have so far been mainly mechanical in nature, such as build the movie projector from the diagram. I am glad that there are Collectibles to gather in each scene, such as decorative glassware. You also are collecting Miniature Characters of each person in the game. Love that aspect, which adds some interest to the game. The Hidden Object puzzles so far have mostly been routine, including one where you use shadow shapes to open doors with other objects. It has been so much fun thus far that it is 2 a.m., and I cannot stop playing! Buy this while you have a chance, and enjoy yourself!

Fantastic Fun game!. Another fun game from the fabulous Elephant Games studios! A bit too creepy for me but still a great game with super puzzles and HOS plus the same teleporting map as the two previous games (made by Elephant Games) in this series. Your games are badly made .. We pay you over. $9 dollars per game. And what do we get but games that hardly play worth a damn . I’ve bought two games this week and both you can’t play through . I’ve had it . I’m not going to pay another red cent. I’m done with Big Fish games . Oh yeah sometimes you buy a game and it’s built for iPhones size , 4”, 6” etc. And they don’t tell you till you try to open the game . Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. Shame on The Big Fish company and iTunes for getting after them to clean up their act.

Simplistic & Short. No thought required. I found this game simplistic and on the short side. Including the bonus chapter. It was really a matter of back and forth (which the map made easy). Analogy: More like putting a beginner's puzzle together than any thought process. I did enjoy the storyline though.

App crashed now says I didn’t purchase it. Paid to unlock the game, played until I got the temperature switch for the car in the garage and then the game crashed. Tried to open it back up and it says I haven’t unlocked the game and wants me to pay again. Unfortunate as I was really enjoying the game until that point

It's ok.... Not challenging, a LOT of back and forth to make the game seem longer than the (very) short one it is. Maybe grab it on sale if you have nothing else, but not an $8 title, there are many other much better ones out there.

Not available?. I downloaded and tried to play it but when I tried to buy the collectors edition I got an error saying this is no longer available. Hopefully this can be fixed so I can play it.

Good fun. Would have been better if you could travel rooms easier so you do not have to use hints. Hints help a lot but like to think on my own too.

Dated, sluggish and tedious. Sluggish response on screen in hops, regular scenes and map. Map doesn’t indicate collectibles. Very dated art. Voice acting sub par. No alternate hops. Hops were messy. Gratuitous scare tactics, like a skeleton suddenly appearing. Using a tool, such as a hammer removing nails, requires picking up hammer and applying it to scene multiple times=tedious. I didn’t even finish the demo.

Good but short. Goof thing I only paid 3 bucks for this because that was one short game. I truly I joyed it but way to short.

Haunte Hotel. It's a good game. Not too difficult, interesting story line. You would get fives stars if I weren't pelted with ads & rating requests - even after I have complied.

I really want to enjoy this game. I'm moved by the positive reviews and have enjoyed what I have been able to play, but I am frustrated by its failure to respond to my touch. I couldn't grab the fishing pole or glue together the doorknob. I restarted twice to no avail. Disappointed.
