💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

App lacking ergonomic features. I did not receive a PIN when I was enrolled with Empower, but figured it would be important to be able to check on and reallocate my retirement funding. The phone link section collapses on itself, and does not allow you to enter a PIN on newer phones (I am using an iPhone 13). After putting in my phone number after having Empower find my account via other personal identifying info, and then receiving a text message with a PIN to verify my phone, the field for entering said phone PIN gets consumed by all other data elements, and throws errors repeatedly while I try to login. Now, I have to wait “5 business days” for the PIN to arrive in the mail, because the application was unable to find a spot to place the PIN field that wasn’t already on top of another interactive field. Not a great start.

FaceID is doesn’t work. FaceID just doesn’t work. It’s a joke they still have it there when every time it just won’t work and take me to “forgot password” page. Many times I’m unable to login to the system on repeated attempts because the “system isn’t available”. How can a site/system that manages my money be unavailable for maintenance in 2022? This alone stops me from moving my other money to this app. Other aspects of the app are average when compared with other brokerage/retirement apps. There’s a lot of potential but I haven’t seen any improvements for months so it’s obvious there’s a lot of “baggage” in the backend systems that stops progress on the app itself.

Need an easier user interface fewer clicks and more user friendly services. The app needs to be intuitive. Currently, it inefficiently requires too many clicks to get something done. The slider bars are stupid, I can’t enter a number. I don’t want to play with my phone to get a number right. Menus are written by bankers for bankers They need to be written in plain English The bank itself is still stuck in dark ages It needs to stop charging for every rollover and allow users to ACH from their 401K account here into their IRA account anywhere else. This bank also needs to execute transfer orders on the day of the order. As is, it takes 2-3 work days for ACH transfer to complete. Some banks are of course faster and ACH overnight. I mean how much does it cost to bring this bank into the 21st century??? I know the IT execs throw more money away every year to maintain your antiquated systems. Or are the IT executives too busy CYA and spending their money on staff instead of automation? And taking initiative and directing most of the staff on a total revamp of this horrendous system? Can you read my frustration?

Resource library. The plan participant my husband works - we wanted to understand the Roth salary deferral component of the plan - the rep tameka said she would go to the resource library & read the explanation to us - my husband had to get off the line due to work & tameka refused to read it to me ! That IS NOT specific to my husbands plan - it’s generic - & I am VERY CONCERNED that she can’t read that to me - ! There should be a way you can add someone to discuss your plan - I highly recommend you incorporate that option ! It’s frustrating!

Terrible App. I recently rolled my 401k funds into an Empower Traditional IRA. The Empower app falls way short. This app has too many issues to list all of them, but here are a few. 1. There is no way to report problems with the mobile app except to write a review. 2. Login is very slow. 3. Navigation within the app menus is not intuitive or logical. 4. The app times out and logs you out while you're actively reading various documents within the app. 5. Research and reporting tools are almost nonexistent. 6. When using a mobile device you are not allowed to login on the website. It just sends you to the mobile app with no way out. 7. There isn't any help in the app or anywhere else. The app store sends you to the website, which sends you back to the app, where there isn't any help. I could say more, but there isn't much point. There just aren't any good tools to manage your account. I definitely advise passing on using Empower's investment services. I'll be rolling my funds out as soon as I'm able.

Horrible app and company. App will only list the email from my former temporary employer as a verification method, so it is useless! Customer service is wonderful; however, the issue above never got resolved. Empower claimed to have mailed a check to my home on four different occasions. I first learned of this by receiving a letter via mail stating the check had not been cashed. I contacted customer service each time and with follow up. Always the same verbage. Ironically, I find it puzzling that I always received letters stating the check had not been cashed, but not one check. Finally, after more than one year, I received a check. I still do not understand the calculations and cannot log into the App and customer service says all the right things on the phone, but the issue still remains. I give up.

Visually appealing, lacking general information. I was happy when my company moved our 401k from Transamerica to Empower - the last app was horrendous. Gave Transamerica one star and Empower gets two from me. This one is easier to navigate and to see the details of my investments. However, it doesn’t get a better review due to it’s lack of a helpful resource for app questions and the inability to see the $ invested in different types of retirement accounts (Roth vs 401k vs employer match..) in the app. I have clicked every button on this app to see my investment contribution categories. Upon not finding the answer, I contacted the email listed as the help email on the app. They gave me browser instructions and told me to call in. I called in and they gave me browser instructions too. How sad that for a simple thing, I have to log into the browser. Defeats the purpose of having the app.

Empower is not so empowering anymore. Been using this app daily for years, I manage my own account and have been doing so pretty well partly because you had the ability to see exactly what the values were on indexes and how many shares you had in each account and what not. Well today I opened it up to find the app has changed. I can no longer see the price point for individual items nor how many shares of each item I own. I just see how much value of each item I have. One problem with that is that our fees come in the form of share reductions and that may not seem like a big deal but our office has had problems in the past where multiple reduction fees were taken out twice and the only people who caught it were the employees who use the app. With the features removed this app doesn’t give any true value of how your assets are doing on a short term basis and makes it more difficult to determine accounting errors. Maybe if the company wasn’t so invested in stadium rooftops they could provide a more empowering app.

Not user friendly. After attending a 401(K) meeting, I decided to enroll. Upon installing the app, (as it required me to on a mobile device), I went to register, following the prompts as instructed. After filling out all of my information correctly, I got to the screen to input my phone number and then it was unable to verify my identify. It instructs me to call a sales representative to assist in enrollment. I tried doing it on a computer instead, but the same issue arose. I’m the type of person who likes to do things on their own so that I have control of what I’m doing and signing up for. This inconvenience makes it that more difficult trying to enroll. After that, I decided it’s not for me to continue enrollment.

Worst “update” ever, now a worthless app. If you are lucky enough for it to let you log in it takes forever to load data and repeatedly gives error messages and says to contact a representative. Wish they would’ve left the other version of the app with the blue background as an optional way to log in as I had no problems accessing my account information on that version. To top it off, they took the ability to log in through the website from a mobile device. If I could take all of my money out of my accounts immediately I would and move it to one of the other companies I’ve used in the past, none of which were anywhere near this frustrating. No idea how they have a 4.7 star cumulative rating given that the vast majority of reviews I read are 1 star.

Hate this app. When I could just go to the Empower website and log in, I was able to easily see my balance and breakdowns by fund for any given date and had no problems navigating the site and managing my account. That is definitely not the case with this now required app. With the exception of maybe one section, there is no back button for returning to previous page--so you have to keep starting over from the menu. Additionally, I wanted to rebalance my fund, but was afraid to do so based on how the options are presented in the app (and the lack of clear instructions). Wasn't sure what I'd end up with. Really hate that I have to take up space on my iPad with this extremely annoying app.

No customer service. I’m not sure that this is the place to put your money but it’s the the company that my employer has for 401k, I just wanted to start a new retirement account so down loaded the app enter tons of personal information then it said for me to call customer service, stayed on hold for some time then was given option for a call back from them and they did , afte again given more information the guy OK you can have from 1%to100% with held and asked what is the 401k invested in? Is it a aggressive plan? How much does my company match? He said that he wasn’t allowed to discuss that but he would transfer my call and 20 minutes later….. nothing. I would hate to try to speck with someone about issues with my 401k if they show no interest in a new customer

Doesn’t work if you have two jobs.. I have two jobs that both use empower for retirement. I spent an hour on the phone with people from empower using me as a hockey puck, shuffling me around just to tell me that I was unable to have access to both of my retirement accounts on the App. This is not intuitive at all. Customer service reps had no clue about the issue until they tried to transfer me to technical service and came back on the line to tell me they weren’t transferring me since technical services were unable to do what I was requesting at this time, “but it’s being worked on.” Also, they had no timeframe to give on the completion of when the issue would be fixed.

I’ve never left an app review before. But this app makes me so angry I feel I need to. I’m currently stuck in an endless loop at login. The app helpfully tells me they have found another account I own that can be linked, clicking on that explains that this action can’t be taken in the app and I need to call customer service, fine, whatever, it then takes me back to the previous screen with no other action but to try to link the account again. The app often just hangs on login after using Face ID. It sends ridiculous notifications to the phone like “your account has been logged out due to inactivity”, great, why should I care about that? What action can I take off the back of it? I can either ignore it and just be annoyed that my phone got a pointless notification. Alternatively I can re-open the app and login again, but why on earth would I need a notification to prompt me to do that? If I wanted to open the app again I would have done that myself and discovered at that point I would have needed to login again. Note to the people that design and build it: please just remember that this app is not the most important thing in people’s lives, in fact it falls completely into the “I don’t care, I just want to get in, do what I need to do, get back out again, as quickly as possible”. Your success should be measured by how little time people spend in your app, not how much, and breaking logins again doesn’t count

Can’t Access Self-Directed Brokerage Account. I cannot get access to my self-directed brokerage account on any of my mobile devices now. This is a huge step backwards. If I’m out in the field and have no access to a computer how am I supposed to access this? I can see my balance but am told to visit the website using a desktop to do trades. Up until a week ago I could trade in the field using my iPad. Called for help but was told I can not trade using mobile devices and will need to use a desktop. The app for mobile devices does not give access to the self directed account. Please get this fixed ASAP. You also should have notified customers of this issue when you knew of the problem as I spent hours trying to figure out the problem and find a way around it. In a mobile first world this is a huge step backwards. Please fix this soon guys.

Confusing and difficult to use!. I wanted to reallocate the investment funds in my Empower Ret. Portfolio but had an extremely difficult time location the spot on your App site to accomplish this. I called Empower and spoke with “David”. He gave me instructions for using the website, but I could not find the selections he spoke about on my account. He became a bit irritated with me because I thought on was on the website, but was actually on my tablet, which said that meant I was using the App and the materials were different on the app. I ultimately found the spot for reallocating my funds without his help because he said he was not used to using the app and couldn’t find it either. David told me not to use the “slide” because it was “touchy”. But there was no place to enter a percentage number on the app. Using the app to accomplish the reallocation was confusing and difficult. It was not intuitive at all. I had to make my selections several times because the changes were not visible and I was not sure that the information was being accepted. Finally, after several steps and missteps, I saw the “review my changes” and was able to verify that the reallocation I wanted was made correctly. All in all, it was a very confusing and frustrating experience.

Really poor design and implementation. Worst app in worked with in 15 years. Hi all, To begin with I like many others am using this on IOS devices. I’m forced to do so because the Senior Management at Empower will not allow you to use your web browser on a big IPad Pro. Really makes me angry because the IOS version is really lacking. I’m unable to perform the most basic tasks that I can easily accomplish on a web site. Over the last 25 years I have been using apple devices this is by far the worst app I have ever had to work on. Currently I’m on hold for over twenty minutes just to rebalance my portfolio properly. I plan on going to my company’s executive team and do my best to persuade them to dump Empower and use Fidelity, Charles Schwab or any other competitor.

Not the app, but the company. The app works perfectly for me, letting me get my accounts attached and lets me view everything I need to see. The only complaint I have is that a withdrawal usually takes up to 16 days, but I’ve had to wait now for almost 20 days. It’s not bad for the timing but there are two things that makes this really disappointing, 1) I’m in an unfortunate financial situation and needed the money asap 2) the longer it takes to get withdrawn, the more the account balance loses, as they keep taking money out of my account for some reason. If you want speediness, I would expect empower to be quite slow on transactions and withdrawals.

Required Update to new application not smooth. I was required to update to new application but I have not been able to transition easily. I was unable to locate my account as it was not done automatically. I was then prompted to create a new log in. The application then sits on the new login screen and never completes the task. I am currently unable to access the retirement plan. I’m sure the app is great once you get in it. I’m eager to use it but was immediately locked out despite routinely using the older version and having passwords/data/etc saved.

Forced to use app to login from a mobile device. This is the only financial institution that I have ever encountered that completely disallows accessing an account from a mobile device - I reached out to their support to see if there was any way to access from a mobile device with the following response: “To provide the best experience and keep your account information secure, our website can no longer be accessed from a mobile device such as a smart phone or tablet. In order to view your account information from a mobile device, you must download the Empower app.” The best part about it is that I no longer work for the employer that used them so I will be rolling over my accounts to other institutions.

Confusing and difficult to use. I never write review for apps but I sincerely hope the developers start to realize how terrible the user experience is here. There are so many tabs to click that you have no idea what your actually opening. I wanted to see a breakdown of each funds performance since I originally purchased them. I can’t find this information at all.. I click my investments and it’s not there. Then I go to balance over time and I’m seeing more confusing information. I am shocked that the home page is not: here are your investments and this is how they’ve performed. I’m looking to rebalance my portfolio and it feels like I need a degree in info systems to navigate this app.

Login is junk. This app is so buggy at login. Sometimes it goes fast to your account and sometimes not at all. The spinning circle spins endlessly. You cannot even use the app at times. The need to fix the login process. It shouldn’t take 30 seconds for the FaceID to log you in to your account. Now my Prudential Retirement app has become an Empower app too, but that app logs in fast as always. But that is just because they are using the previous Prudential app with their name on it. Cannot wait until Empower breaks that app. Now, if this app does let you into your account, then it works fine and is a decent experience overall. The website is much better though for actual account management processes. There are less usable functions within the app. Fix your login please, as this has been an issue for at least 6-12 months now.

Difficult to navigate contributions. Extremely difficult to navigate/edit contribution amounts. Tried changing it multiple Times over long period but same amount comes out of paycheck. I’ve tried calling in during business hours but message says unusually high amount of callers. I will Be doing rollover to fidelity to avoid future Problems. Wouldn’t take my review at one star but when changed to 4 stars it worked

Do not understand 4.7 stars. This app is not working. As of today after seeing high review and my app does load any of investment info, it displays as it has always the error msg we are working hard to... and then point me to a dead end the webpage does not load displays another error in red. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled same issue. This is crap. When will they finish working hard, please stop upgrading the app, it does not work or load proper info from my investment. For once provide a full fledged working app. If your excuse is that you do not find proper engineering ressources, then now is the time to hire the right ressources to remedy the app problems and solving the working hard in vain. There are plenty of qualified engineers out of work, help the economy and help the customers meet they productivity and life on the go by hiring.

Lacking in features - now can’t login. I wish I could go back to voya. Ever since my company changed to empower - I’ve felt so much less empowered managing my 401k. This app has always been flawed but now I can’t even login after the last update. 1) Prior to this issues logging in seemed to take a solid 30 seconds after entering credentials - now it won’t log in at all. 2) Having the ability to see a graph / multiple types of bar/line graphs on month over month or year over year progress with different colors for each fund is important but extremely lacking. 3) Also being able to compare on a table available mutual funds to invest in to and history of possible fund performance on a birds eye view for the last 30 days, ytd, 3month, 6month, 1 year, 3, 5, 10 year for a given etf/fund is so crucial but lacking in this app. 4) having visibility with reinvesting dividends and when the next ex-div dates are happening for my company needs to be present as well (and isn’t but is in other 401k apps like voya). Developers please give this app some love as its extremely lacking in core features that are present in other competitor apps (like voya etc)

Very confusing app. The main reason we have this app is to provide the CUSTOMER a way to watch their payroll contributions. Also, look at the matching of their employer. These need to be detailed so we can evaluate our contributions to go over the yearly IRS rules of law. Not employers give a fixed amount so you can calculate those contributions. As you are aware some only allow percentages. So the employee needs to manage those in detail to maintain the maximum contribution amounts. Without going over. Because what happened in the past if this occurred. Someone not sure stop contributing the beginning of the following fiscal year. The old app showed us the yearly contributions that did not include the employer matching. PLEASE HELP US POOR PEOPLE.

Terrible app. Empower recently stopped letting people use the website and now force you to use their underdeveloped app. Using the app I can no longer view the daily price of specific investments and also no longer can move a specific dollar amount from one investment to another. I tried emailing Empower to see if the features were still there but maybe in a place I wasn’t looking. I think they may use a bot to reply to emails. In spite of several attempts, they kept sending back instructions to do other things that completely missed the mark. I was left thinking they don’t understand how bad the app is and thus no hope of enhancing it.

App Keeps Crashing. After logging In and viewing my account I have tried multiple times to initiate a transaction. Every time I do the app crashes. Unfortunately there us no other way to log in via my phone. I’ve tried using the website via my phone however the only option to log in takes you directly to the app again. There is not an option to use a desktop version of the website to log in as over again it takes you to the app. I tried deleting the app and once again on the website it required me to download the app again. I will use my laptop later to log In and perform my transactions but this is a problem as it is obviously not always convenient to use a computer to not only access but perform account transactions.

App is not ready for prime time. I was forced to use this app on my ipad and iphone since Empower has coded a User Agent (UA) detection into their platform. This allows them to see what device or browser I am coming in on. They will deny you entry and force a load this app page on to you. In essence you cannot access their web page from a mobile device. This would be tolerable if the app is even 50% of the features and function of their website. This is a dumbed down app. When you want to restack your investments you have only the option to do so by percentage which force you to calculate each percentage in the new target percentages. No other financial organization ie Vanguard, Trowe, etc. would force you to use the app only from your iPad. We should have the option to choose. Well I choose to NOT use this dumbdowned app. I will go old school and use my PC until they shut that down. Don’t use this app. Call their customer service and register your complaint.

Disappointing…. Empower’s app is not great. I have a 401k, HSA and an investment account through Empower and it doesn’t link them very well. They are not user friendly and aren’t really in harmony with each other. It is difficult to login, often citing errors that make you have to do it over and over and over. It usually takes several tries to login (and the investment account is almost impossible to login without calling them. On an iPad, you need to use the app (can’t use Safari or Chrome), but the investment account app just takes you to the website but through the app… even though it will not let you use a browser? No idea why. For being the largest retirement company in America, they need a better, more user friendly app. They fooled me into rolling over my investment account from another company and I regret it. It’s the least user friendly investment platform I’ve used. I’ll probably move it back out so I have a better user experience. If I could move my 401k as well, I probably would.

Upgrade??. My employer plan was Prudential, which was purchased by Empower. The initial takeover experience seemed ok, not really better or worse. The App changed it’s name & appearance about a year ago but none of the features changed so the app experience was status quo. Today the ”upgraded” Empower App became available & required. IT IS NOT AN UPGRADE! Not intuitive, not developed with iPhone standard interface protocols, and generally a mediocre user experience. The old one was better. I can appreciate the double authentication & enhanced security but the app is not smart enough to “recognize this device” when I tell it to recognize my phone. Empower, please hire some quality software developers who understand user interface & user experience are just as important as features. Yikes…

No more goals?. I really liked this app but i read change logs before upgrading and the most recent upgrade says it will remove the goals feature from the app because users can simply go to the website to do goals. This makes no sense to me. Why remove working features from an app and gate them behind the website? Now i’m stuck on the current version and won’t upgrade to the new one or future ones because I love apps being able to use touchid to access things and not have to dig up 1 out 60 unique passwords in my password safe to access some web gui. Please consider not removing working features from an otherwise fantastic app that keeps getting better and better up until this point.

Withdrawal experience. I thought it would be easier if I could just request and complete a withdrawal on the website. But I had to call and the wait time was was over an hour first time I called and ended up just being told I’d have to wait so many days since I had just changed my address on the website. I talked Tony that day and he was very nice and helpful. Second call I only waited about thirty minutes and Michael Clark made the withdrawal experience great. After talking with him I understood why you have to call instead of just doing the withdrawal yourself on the website. Both guys were great and although the call wait time is very long, they made my experience worth the wait. Thank you, Charlotte Sewell

Unsatisfactory. I tried to use this app only to result in failure. The application is clunky and slow. I tried to choose my own password, but was only allowed to use the iPhone’s suggested strong password; this was because when I was signing up, I would select to choose my own password instead of using the iPhone’s suggested password, but when I would confirm the password, the same prompt came up, I chose the same option of choosing my own password, and it would clear the previously entered password: queue the Groundhog Day experience until I defaulted to the iPhone password. THEN, after repeated attempts to verify and receiving multiple codes, now I have to contact the system admins to get help. This app is not worth the effort.

Hardship. In August I took a hardship withdrawal. Every time I called the wait times we’re excruciatingly long. Each time I spoke to a representative, the answers to my questions about the withdrawal were completely conflicting. At one point I was told I had plenty of time to change amount requested for withdrawal, but that information was also false. Empower had already sold the stocks and even though supervisors claimed to have listened to the telephone exchange where I was given incorrect information, they told me that there was nothing they could do. This company has much room for improvement and on many levels. The way I was treated was unacceptable.

App is not user friendly. I used to like this app, I could login and get all the necessary information on the overview page, including easy access to the professional plan management program I pay to participate in. Now, they redesigned the overview page and there is a lot of extra nonsense I don’t care about and no way to get to the plan management site to manage my portfolio. I have clicked through every page on the app and there is no access to this feature anymore. The only way I can see it is through the desktop site and that is hugely inconvenient. I will likely stop participating in that program since it is no longer easy to access when I need to. Please change the app back to the way it was before!

Great job. I was a state employee for 30 years and have been enrolled with you guys since you came on board with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania I retired almost 20 years ago and have been very happy with my account management. I used to be able to call and check my balances but that has stopped since I enrolled online I still would like to be able to call but otherwise I am totally happy with your service Since I am retired and only have a pension and Social Security for an income I thought I should talk to someone about reassigning my investments. I appreciate your knowledge and help in this matter thank you for all you do in protecting us retirees.

Terrible login issues since the beginning of March. I’ve never really had a problem with this app (besides it being too slow) until the beginning of this month. It keeps telling me my ID and passwords are incorrect when they’re not. I was able to finally get into it yesterday and then when I tried today, it once again said I have too many failed login attempts and have to wait a day to try again. I can’t change my password because when I try to do that, I still get an invalid message. Whatever update happened at the beginning of March needs to be fixed. It’s incredibly frustrating. I can’t do or check anything.

Keeps me informed at a glance. I enjoy being able to keep up with how my 401k account is doing and learning how to manage it because our so called expert is not much help at all. I wish there was more guidance offered than there is. People pay me to do a job for them because they can’t do it themselves and I am paying someone to do this job and the only help and advice I get is to get this app so I did. I’m tying to learn and this app helps

Customer service. Hello everyone, First of all get empower retirement if you haven’t already. Their are many benefits along with saving money without taxes and if needed use that money for. Home down payment, emergencies and the best of all for home down payment. As far as their customer service it’s outstanding. I have dealt with them bunch of times now. They are helpful and pretty knowledgeable. They help you on the phone. As far as submitting documents and many other forms you want everything available on the app. Thanks.

Needs a overhaul pros vs cons. I put this app on my phone to help manage my fiancé’s retirement plan here are the pros and cons I’ve found it is very simple and easily navigated and pretty straightforward Easily make changes change your investments increase or decrease contribution amounts only would recommend it To you anyone with an account way easier Then trying to manage your account from their website which need serious work and being more user-friendly go with the app. Con However not being Able to see who your money is invested with is a major drawback if you press the managed account button it tells you you don’t have authorization but it is your money so who is this authorized person managing the account. con two it doesn’t show you the money that you contribute versus the money your employer contributes. Con three it is incredibly slow to update my fiancé’s has been showing the same amount for a month and finally went up one dollar today when she got paid I would say both their app and their website need a major overhaul.

Repeatable crashes, poorly designed. iPhone 14 Pro Max 512G and previously XR 128G Go to balance over time and select any other date range, YTD for example. Repeatable crash. HSA data is terribly out of date. Why post it at all if it’s two weeks old or more? It is not useful at that age. Many settings such as retirement age and risk tolerance are not available in the app, it does not tell you this and you have to just go explore the website. Same for personal investments — all of these dramatically affect the retirement score which is the first thing you see when starting the app. Trying to compare investments is useless unless you download the PDF version. Navigating the app is like a phone tree, you must traverse through options to get to another selector to traverse through options. No way to get directly there. No way to store time periods (eg start date for compare) for future. App incredibly slow compared to my other apps even on fastest iPhone available When replying, realize I am not going to expose my email address and take more of my valuable time to send you emails on these issues.

This is an unusable app. It is very disappointing that Empower has forced us to use the app if on a mobile device, which is all I’m ever on. Even though my password is correct, when Face ID is used, it says it’s not correct. I then get locked out for trying to login a couple of times. If I’m ever able to get in the app, it does not have near the features you get by being on the website. After calling and emailing, the only response I received was “oh well, that’s all we can do.” The mailed letter stated that this was the new, better way and that it wasn’t going to be changed. So unfortunate that the company can’t let us decide how we want to view our money and from what device. It’s also unfortunate that they don’t really seem to care what their customers think either, especially after seeing so many poor reviews for the app.

Thankful for app. I work for a state government that offers a voluntary IRA along with it's mandatory 401k. The IRA is through Empower and being able to access it with an app is amazing given my states 401k isn't accessible by most third party apps.. Quicken, Personal Capital, etc.. None of them sync with my 401k, only Mint does, however Mint doesn't provide forecasting, returns, etc.. So basically it will only tell me my balance. I'm thankful because most government retirement accounts other than federal aren't really "tech friendly," as state and municipal governments aren't looking to spend money on things like mobile apps. Now, I would like to more information. Projected returns, historical, fee schedules, etc. It's a good app, built well, but it could use some depth.

Limited access. Very unhappy with recent changes to the website. This service is for the benefit of employees yet their needs are hindered. There are 2 issues that need to be addressed. First, pension information has been removed from the summary page. Did we forget what summary means? Who’s account is it after all? Even if empowerment doesn’t manage pensions they are our retirement service. The summary page should retain that info even if it goes no farther. Second and more irritating is that in this world of mobile services becoming the primary means of conducting business, empowerment has limited our mobile access. If you try to log in to the site from a mobile device you are forced onto the mobile version. The mobile site WILL NOT allow you to access your brokerage window. This is not acceptable. What happens if someone is away from a desktop but needs to make a sudden change? What if as a result of not being able to they lose a lot of money? Please correct these empowerment . Thank you

Unuseable, Utterly Worthless. Upon logging in, I am unable to bypass the enrollment screen, even though I have already enrolled to the level I want(1% not the 5% THEY want). Considering that I have already enrolled, I am flabbergasted that I can't do anything with this app except enroll... hence, it's worthless. I am enraged that this company constantly pesters me to modify MY enrollment option, and view this as them wanting to increase their fee (tied to a % of assets under management), which completely eradicates any measure of trust that should be present between a client and financial advisor. Moreover, I feel that they make it too easy to accidentally enroll in a larger contribution, and thus find using their tools risky--not that I can even use it in this app!(I speak from experience using their website). FYI, in the event that this company actually listens to customers, the reason that I haven't enrolled in the 5% is that I want to understand (incrementally) the impact on my takehome pay. Thus, showing your customers the math on this would be an excellent start toward fixing this mess of a tool. I have low expectations of an improvement, however, because I expect a big company like this to be a useless dinosaur that only gets business by appealing to low cost targets of companies offering retirement/401k plans. Hence, the real problem is that I'm not your customer, my company is and I'm just an afterthought--much like this app seems to be!

Definitely not the caliber of Mass Mutal. I am sad my retirement company mass mutual sold out to empower. After getting an invitation to their app I quickly noticed that much of my info that I thought would have migrated over is either not there like beneficiary information or the fact they have a 6 year old email address that is not even in use, although they used my correct email address to contact me???? This app is sad and not what I would have expected for the hype we received. After 30 minutes on hold to just speak with a person I am not impressed. As I am the manger over planned benefits I will be contacting our local broker to determine what other options their are versus empower. Never stay with a company just because they are big. I cannot recommend Empower at all at this time.

App is good but for the Face ID bug. The latest update is even more horrible. It did not fix the Face ID problem. Now after logging in the app simply says cannot load information. Problem occurred. Call support... Disappointed!! App is neat and great. Simple to use. However I have noticed a bug with the iPhone Face ID. Every time I login I go and enable my Face ID. It asks me for my login and password to enable it. But once I close the app, my Face ID setting is gone. Next time I open the app, it says Face ID is disabled. Very irritating to use it since I have to redo all the steps again only to lose it all when I login next time. Please fix it.

Widget doesn’t work. Overall, I find the app to be user friendly and easily navigated. The widget, despite numerous tries and taking several different approaches, doesn't work consistently. The information talks about the token and the need to sign in, but regardless of whether I sign in or not, it doesn’t continue to bring the information into the widget. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app as well as restarting both my iPad and iPhone, but it still doesn’t function properly. If this is addressed, I will update to a five star review.

App/Login Crashes, terrible software bugs, need developers. The website and the app almost ALWAYS direct me to a “404 error” every time I attempt to log in on the app. Just TERRIBLE interface. Why am I directed to an outside webpage to log in each time instead of just logging in on the app interface? And half the time I attempt to login on the website, the website errors out - and what’s worse is that it seems like no developer has touched the site, because it returns the technical error codes instead of a normal “oops we had an issue “ message on normally developed apps. Just a terrible portal with tons of issues, they need to invest in better infrastructure - I shouldn’t be fighting for my life to enter into the website EACH and EVERY time I try to log in.

App experience can be improved. Interface is a little confusing. Not the most user friendly and not completely intuitive. It’s hard to find what im looking for and when I wanted to pick my own investments most of the options lead to the same thing it felt like. App can use some work for a smoother experience.

Most unreliable app in the world of retirement savings. The Empower app is not award winning as stated in their description. Is horrible there are access issues in generally just getting in to the app. As well as functional issues within the app, if you’re lucky enough to get in. The app crashes frequently and I have requested paper statements because of the unreliability for this app to connect me with my investments. Please do a better job. Menus are grayed out or not available at all and the ability to change investment allocation is almost impossible.

Useless for making trades for n the go.. The slide for dollar amounts to transfer money between funds is extremely frustrating. It goes from $1 to like $20,000-$80,000. You try to go lower and it goes back to the $1. It would be nice if you could just type in the amounts you would like to move between funds like on the website or fix the scale of the slide. App is basically useless for making trades. Need computer to get accurate dollar amounts so basically the app is of very little use to me other than to view balances. Please fix the slide or eliminate it altogether.

Widget Issue. Nice app. However, the widget is too small to display my balance — the number gets cut off. There either needs to be an option to increase the size of the widget or the font needs to be smaller in order to display more digits. In addition, it would be nice if the widget also displayed the date of the balance in order to verify that number displayed is currently.

Face ID is worthless. I’m accustomed to Empower’s “hokeyness” is so many ways, but this one has driven me to delete the app from my iPhone. The face ID feature flat out is inop. Having to input my userid/password every single time I use the app - yes, the face ID switch is on - when every other app using face ID works just fine is infuriating. You can even see the face ID s/w doing its thing, the app still forces you to input your credentials every time. Worthless, in my view. The only reason it gets two stars instead of one is the touch ID feature on the iPad actually works.

App performance is sub-par. Well this app used to function fairly well, but with this new update there are a number of functionality issues. The biggest headache is the overall execution speed of this app. For starters, it can take up to 30 seconds just to log in (and that’s if it’s successful!) Pulling up ‘details’ from the account summary page also takes an exorbitant amount of time. Overall, I highly recommend that you review your programming staff’s capabilities for something has seriously taken this app a number of steps backwards.

Buggy login. Can’t get past login screen. Asks me to link account, then says I can’t link the account, then the only option is the ‘back’ button which then the app is stuck in a loop not knowing what to do from there. Looks like the issues have been around since at least March, a good 3 months.

App does not permit me to change the beneficiary. I had to complete a paper form and try and upload it and then the app changed the name of the form when I uploaded it. No one I spoke to customer service knew anything about the beneficiary form in the app or this problem. All the money, you guys have wrapped up in the system, and this is not a good delivery to a customer. I tried to use the change beneficiary form in the app, and it allowed me to specify a trust, and when it asked for a tax ID name it said you could put in your Social Security, but it had a hard coated mask for two characters with a dash and wouldn’t accept that so I couldn’t even use that form..

Why force iPad users to use an app?. Why am I’m forced to use the app on my iPad, when the website had been working fine in my browser? There is no link on the browser page to take me to the desktop site. When I tried to request the desktop site via the browser, it took back to the same page forcing me to download the app. I’ve done this in both Chrome and Edge with the same result. The app lacks functionality that is available on the website. This is very frustrating.

Needs improvement. The app seems to have constant problems with error messages. That force the issue to go back and/or exit the app before re-attempting whatever it was you were trying to do. I want an easy way to look at MY IMVESTMENTS and how they perform day to day along with their returns for the year on PAGE 1…not after clicking on 7 different links.

Almost. It’s a good app, good design, good layout but it lacks a lot of useful info that would make it complete. You cannot see any of the contributions made by your employer or yourself. You cannot see any graphical data that I would consider important. Where is the graphical info of month to month market changes or info about the progression/ increase of your 401k account. Please fix promptly

Ok interface - lacking future projection sophistication. While on Wells Fargo, prior to the acquisition, the future projection and planning capabilities were far superior to what they are now. I could add additional sources of retirement income, including my wives and it factored this into a more realistic expectation and tracking capability as to whether we are directionally on track. I could also alter multiple levers such as changing social security distribution, pensions, etc all in one UI and see the projection. The current state of this capability on your system is very disappointing and needs to be addressed.

What an I missing?. I was forced to use this app when Empower purchased Prudential and have found the app does, basically.... nothing. You can log in and see your account balance. Period. I can't change investments, see or manage distributions, see fund performance, etc. If I want to do anything substantive, it refers me to the website, so I am really scratching my head: of what value is this app? I see all these 5 star reviews and wonder: am I missing something or have those who are rating this 5 stars never used any other financial services providers' apps??

Constant errors. Never remembers credentials, so always have to enter them again. Then, half of the time I get errors that prevent me from even logging in. When in the app, it’s actually not bad. But the constant errors with even logging in make it a useless experience. And yes, I have the latest OS and app version. The app just needs work. What’s worse is their website forces you to the app when accessing from a mobile device, so the only way in is through a desktop browser.

Garbage. Garbage company forcing you to use their garbage app with no mobile browser support. Just keeps getting worse. 2 minute login process. Slowly turning into an upselling marketing app. Not great for anything other than basic info, not acceptable for a 401k provider. Better hope you only have 1 fund in portfolio otherwise good luck determining your individual performance as all you get is aggregated info across ALL funds. Want to rebalance with any level of complexity….desktop browser it is as app can’t do it. Basically a platform to try and up sell you to their other products.

Monetary value as oppose to percentages. I love empower, I don’t like that I now can only move money around different funds in percentages, as oppose to exact dollar figures. By the way, what was the reason for that change? Also, I tried calling to find out if I can change it to dollar figures like before, but I hung up after being on hold for over 10 minutes. Aside from that, empower is a great company.

Pretty nice app. My company just switched over to this retirement setup and this app is quite nice to work with. One issue I’ve seen is that once you click confirm to add a beneficiary the app crashes. I would have reported the issue via some bug report within the app, but I did not see such functionality. So wrote this review.

No guide. This app is useless. WHY WONT THEY ALLOW A WEBSITE VERSION? Can’t find a guide on how to change basics like savings and net worth. Can’t change anything in the app, yet they want you to link accounts. It is totally use, less and a waste of time. Not user friendly at all. Empower took away retirement account holder’s access to the website and gave this poor app in place of a site that worked just fine and was navigable. Bottom line: don’t waste your time with this worthless app. And now I can’t update it, even tho to use it they say I must update the app. SO STUPID!

Empower forces you to use their App, and its not great. App sometimes crashes during login. Two factor authentication may be broken. This wouldn’t be a problem, except this company also cannot support mobile browsers and forces you to use their App to access your financial information. It’s 2023 - people use tablets and phones to do things, and Empower needs to catch up. Clearly not a tech leader in their space. Hard to leave this company since they are a 401K provider…

Changing Investments Dreadful. The interface to change your investments for current or future investments is dreadful. When selecting funds to transfer to you cannot see your current allocation by percentage alongside any changes you are making. Also when you select allocation amounts by fund by percentage the application automatically updates your allocation percentages in other funds without the users input. It seems like Empower wanted to make it very difficult for users to change their fund allocation after the initial setting to prevent them from doing that.

Nice but it needs a lot of work. I love that you can do a lot with the phone, but the fingerprint scanner gives me an error every time and I have to log in manually. Also, it used to tie into my apple watch for a lot of cool information at a glance, not that does not work at all. If these features worked as they are supposed to, I would have given the app a 5 star.

Blowing chunks. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Empower for no longer supporting the website on iPhones and iPads. Since the bulk of my 401k funds are in the TD Ameritade self directed account, which the new app does not have a link to, I find the app to be pretty much useless. It has been all downhill since Lockheed contracted Empower to be the current plan administrator. Please stop with the constant sales pitch in order for me to pay Empower to manage my money. Your app development skills lead me to believe your money management skills may not be much better.

App is junk. Will not let me log in my log in info is correct still can’t get in made calls get in sign out try to log in it don’t go it’s trash the other thing is I don’t believe my moneys being invested properly either if you use these guys request a paper statement with all of who what and where there investing your money to and start looking those up and do your research but be ready to find out your funding the Rick to get richer while you get pennys on the dollar back and they rack in the profit from your investments then these guys charge you a big fee to steal from you I’m considering cashing out and doing something else you should too

I use this because of work, not by choice. This app and website are greatly lacking. It is not easy to see how your individual investments change on a daily or weekly basis. The monthly view is very small with a scrollable window within a scrollable window. By the time you scroll to what you want you lose all headings . Very frustrating. Also, watch out when you rebalance and keep track of your percentages before you rebalance because when you change one of them all of the others change. I hate this feature. My non-work investment website is light years ahead of this one.

Not as capable but useful. I believe the browser’s capabilities are better than the app. There seems to be some lack of functions in the app that I found useful in the browser but it’s definitely a personal preference. Most of the basic functions are in the app, which is useful, so there is not much to really complain over. Appearance is nice and the panels are simple enough to navigate through. Seems good for now.

A Bio Upgrade Disappointment. I’m just going to say this….it’s terrible and when you try to access your account online it just reroutes you back to the app that has limited access and functionality. Certain things can only be done through the website but it will not let you sign in. I have called support more than 10 times and they act like they are helping and they don’t even know the steps to their own app or websites and their phone line just suddenly disconnects right in the middle of getting assistance. What has happened? Sadly inefficient.

This app makes taking a loan out of your 401(k) impossible.. I attempted to take a loan out of my 401(k) through the app, and every time I do, so it just closes on me. I tried through the website, and it just brought me back to the app and the cycle repeats. Based on all of these negative reviews, it seems like a lot of problems have been fixed, but this has been around for longer than five years, it’s kind of ridiculous. I don’t know how this app has won any awards. Wake up my.

Great app, for a while.. As far as financial based apps goes, they did a great job with this. Very easy to view current balances as well as make adjustments to contributions. Unfortunately with the latest update, they saw fit to not support anything prior to iOS 13, so anyone still using a phone that can’t update to iOS 13 can no longer use the app. Perhaps they will fix this in the near future, but I doubt it.

What a step back in time. I can definitely say with out a doubt that Empowerment is making this app to limit your information and limit people making their own choices. This app is terrible and i was prevented from accessing the website. I think it’s time to roll my 2 million out to another company. You now can only get to the website to make detailed changes using a PC computer. .No Apple Ipads. Also can’t show your self directed brokerage account

Pls fix the login. I am shocked at the login issues and even more shocked to see this has been a complaint in other reviews for at least two years. The login is atrocious and if it actually allows you to log in, it takes forever showing bouncing bar graph animation for a long time. Sometimes it errors out. Sometimes the faceid feature doesn’t work and when I try to manually log in, I get logged out. What’s most shocking is this is supposed to be the #1 retirement company and they don’t spend funds to make the user experience better and actually usable.

Great information but contribution adjustments a pain. Adjusting contributions is an excellent feature but having to use a slider to get to an even number or get to the amount of your choosing is a total pain. Sorry but that feature is absolutely ridiculous. The slightest touch of the slider will increase or decrease your amounts to levels completely unintended. Rest of the app is excellent with all the info you could ask for.

Erroneous confusing and wasteful homepage. What ever the retiree logs on to check how their investments the website has been designed to have homepage information for somebody who is not retired. There is no way once you’re retired that you can contribute to your county plans any longer. I have repeatedly asked that you have a homepage for retirees and for people who are still contributing to this system. Perhaps someone can explain to me how I could contribute the amount of money you are indicating Needed for my retirement. Perhaps I have been misinformed in I could’ve been contributing the last 15 years of my retirement.

Not a fan. If you don’t like to rebalance your funds but rather move money directly from a fund to other funds by % (like the website allows you to do) this is not the app for you. Also if you submit a rebalance of funds on the app and decide to cancel it, you cannot do this using the app. It has to be done using the website. Now that there is an app, it is impossible to access the website using your phone’s browser. In other words this app is only really good for information, not management of balances.

Not user friendly, incorrect info. This app is awful. I cannot see any financial history regarding loss and gains. It will not let me change date ranges and says data isn’t available. From the very first login, I immediately noticed my beneficiaries were completely incorrect. One had the wrong name, two are actually my husband’s beneficiaries and should not be on my account at all, and beneficiaries that should be there we’re not named. I honestly don’t know if the issue is with the information that carried over from the previous app to the new one or if my employer is to blame. Either way, I am not finding this app user-friendly right now.

Terrible. One of the worst investment apps I’ve used! My company switched from Fidelity that was very easy to navigate to this convoluted app that has information spread out all over rather than in one place. The app is incredibly slow to load and change page to page. It also continually crashes when I’m using it. I also am unable to link other accounts to this app to see everything in one place. It just gives me error messages when trying to link them with no explanation. If you have a choice to use this app or another one, use any other one!

Log-in error every time. Every time the app makes an update, it doesn’t let me log in. I’ve used Face ID and written my log-in info, and the app will say there was a logging in error and that my credentials do not match. I’ve ended up calling Empower on multiple occasions, as the app becomes a non-functioning item for me. I will also reset my password, enter it after it’s been changed, and get the same error. It’s frustrating to not be able to access my financial info.

Stop the notifications about how session has timed out. Could anything be more annoying than checking your account and then getting on with your life, only to have it pop up with a notification 1 or 2 minutes later saying that you have been logged out to inactivity, and to have that happen EVERY TIME you use the app? Goodness gracious, what were they thinking? No other app does that because it is a crazy annoying thing to do

Basic. I think the entry point to the app and retirement information is better, but find that you are limited in terms of what you can and cannot see. For example, I have not been able to see transaction history, investment performance, etc. I found the old mobile site clumsy to navigate but you had everything there. This app is also clumsy to navigate but you don’t have Everything you need Could be much better. Stop creating something new when there are blue prints out there from other retirement providers which are better. Focus of this app seems to be to get users to enroll in managed services.

Locked out after multiple logins. On more than one occasion, I have been looked out after multiple logins (not unsuccessful attempts, but successful logins). The reason is I login and the function to request a withdrawal is down (on the server’s side). This is very frustrating and needs to be addressed. Every time this happens, I have to wait 24 hours before I am allowed to get into my own account and complete my transactions. My wish is this would be addressed and corrected .

App ok company not so much. The app is ok when compared to the last company that was used. In the previous company you were able to see the market movement and your watched investments would show on the home page. I do like that they try to estimate how close you you will be to what is needed for retirement. I do not like how they have underlying terms that do not match what the plan states in the documentation.

Joining the loud chorus who HATE being forced to download app. I am *infuriated* that this company requires me to download an app that I don’t want that takes up space on my phone that I do not wish to give it in order to check my account balance. This is horrendous and I am complaining to my company, I hope they switch retirement savings companies. This is enraging. Update: got some baloney letter from the company stating that the app is more secure. So that why they are the ONLY company forcing you to download the app if you want access to your account. THIS COMPANY is responsible for making the website more secure!!

Clunky to log out. The information in the app is fine and usable. But some months ago, they buried the log out function under Profile. I used to able to simply tap the hamburger menu, then tap log out. Now I have to oddly go into profile, then log out. It’s an extra tap every time I use the app. I log out very quickly after checking my balance and the extra navigation adds unnecessary complexity.

Useless. Shouldn’t need an app that is rarely used just to set up and delete shortly after kind of useless unless you plan to check it repeatedly because you have no life or you’re unhealthily paranoid. Sorry definitely can’t recommend and definitely won’t recommend this uselessness straight garbage can’t even create a new account and that was waiting for it to save for 45 minutes after finally trying to create the account and it still wasn’t made straight garbage hire people who actually know how to make apps the current model is garbage

Fix The Log in. I hate logging in to this app. It’s too slow. I refuse to attach my other accounts. They should ask Schwab, Trowe Price or Fidelity how they designed the login to their apps. However, once in, the account info is quite comprehensive. It’s actually quite impressive. Except for the login, I like the app. Even updating this app takes a huge chunk of your life. It is a perpetual runaround and I can’t access my account.

Great app so far. My company had a representative come in and talk about 401k. He mentioned the app they have I wanted to increase my contribution so I downloaded the app. Less than 10 minutes later I had it set up, knew how much was in there, made changes to my contribution and got a few others to download the app during the presentation. Everything I can do with my 401k is right here

Almost always down and horrible company. All fake 5 star reviews, do not download and use this company’s services roll out your money asap! This company does not listen to its customers does not have trained employees and the tech team that created this app and does all of its updates are all in India and can’t even speak English so do not except this app to be slightly better. Most of the documentation or features you need isn’t even on the app so you have to call in to their call center so they can up the call counts for the day. Empower is a joke

Useless. My retirement system switched from T Rowe to Empower in July. The log in for this app does not consistently work or will show there was an authentication error but then you can see that it is actually running. The log in takes much longer than any other app requiring a log in. With my T Rowe app, I saw a graph that showed the daily change in my balance. This one only shows two points - where it was when the account opened & where it is on the day I log in. I want to see those peaks & valleys in between. The only thing I find this app useful for is checking my balance on a particular day.

Useless app. Compared to the website on a desktop, this app is missing a lot of functionality. Not only that, on mobile devices Empower forces you to logon via the app, nerfing your ability to access the full website. My employer has a Self Directed Brokerage account, but I cannot access this within the app, only on the website, so I’m unable to execute any trades that I may want to make. As well, a number of my previously linked accounts are now no longer updating, so data is getting “old”. This lack of updating is a website issue, but carries over into the app, but there’s no way to attempt to fix it in this app.

Mobile inferior. Logging in to the app it says I have to link a 401 account to my other accounts. However. I am not a participant in that account lol. It will not let me login otherwise and when I call to correct the issue the automated service wants me to do the same. Obviously, if I’m using this on my mobile I am mobile and cannot get to anywhere I can remedy the issue. Since I cannot even get into the app or use it to fix this issue I should be giving it 0 stars as an app lol. I hope this isn’t the future. I’ll probably be letting someone else handle my 401 quite soon considering this is bologna.

I don’t want another app!. They have a website. It works just fine. Now they are spending money to develop an app for multiple phone platforms even though their website works just fine. They are no longer allowing me to access their website from my mobile device. DUMB. I don’t want your app on my phone. I don’t have space for it. How is the fact that they have an app helping me with retirement? Is it lowering my costs? Nope. My company has to pay them more so they can spend money building an app. How is this helping me as an end user? It’s wasteful.
