A Great Approach. I really like this app for several reasons. The first being that many of the foremost teachers are represented. Also, two things relating to content and presentation. One, there are apps out there that boast about ‘40,000 free meditations’. The problem is that some of them sound like they were recorded on my father’s cassette recorder from 1967, from across tge room. Poor sound quality is difficult to excuse in 2020, as are noise from traffic, conversations in the distance, air conditioning etc. Unless you need the digital waterfalls, digital birds cirping, cavernous reverb on the teacher’s voice and the like, you might prefer-as do I- the simple, minimalistic presentation and crystal clear recordings that are the hallmarks of Ten Percent. To me, that other stuff starts out as a distraction and quickly becomes an annoyance.I sort of think of guided meditations as training wheels anyway, something that gets you started. Ultimately, you might want to meditate in a circle with other people or without recorded guidance, at least some of the time. Try meditating without the overproduction for a month and see what you think. Lately, it’s either 10% or a simple timed meditation for me. Recommended

More than 10% Happier. I’ve just been diagnosed with breast cancer, this app has been a game changer for me. I can come here and let the bad thoughts and feelings in, notice they are there, meditate and find a sense of calm in the fray. I’m not saying I’m not worried or scared because meditation took it all away, but it has taught me how to be with it. I intend to meditate in the course of my treatment. Meditation is not blocking out the world and concentrating on absolute silence. If you think your mind is too busy and you won’t be able to meditate, almost everyone else is in the same boat. My mind is always off on a tangent, with our without the cancer diagnosis. I miss a day on the app now and then but I still find time every day, for just a few minutes by myself, the app has helped me find time. You can do this in a minute if it’s all the time you have. It’s a practice. I have been doing 10% Happier for a few months and did a different app before this one. The difference is all of the different teachers on 10% Happier. They are all so knowledgeable and guide me most every day. There are categories for almost everything. If you think your mind wanders too much, join the club. If everyone did mindful meditation it would be a better world. Thank you, Dan Harris and all of the wonderful teachers you have on this app. It has changed my life.

My FAVORITE meditation app of ANY I have tried!. I am really enjoying learning to meditate for the first time (to clarify, this is not my first time trying to learn to meditate, it’s just the first time I find myself actually enjoying and looking forward to it each day)!! LOL I highly recommend this app over any of the others out there (trust me, I have tried them ALL). To explain, there’s nothing inherently wrong with the other apps, it’s just that this one feels so much more accessible and doable. Like you are not alone in this, if that makes sense? I find myself wanting to go back to it several times throughout my day...and I can! There are meditations for just about ANY situation or current mental state, and any amount of time available. I can’t really explain why this one works so well compared to the others, it just DOES! Please do yourself a favor and give it a try with the free one-week trial. You honestly won’t regret it!! :-)

Dan Harris is one of America's best journalists. As a marketing, public relations and communications agency owner and consultant my work exposes me to journalists and editors on a daily basis. Over my decades long career that includes local journalists covering news, lifestyle and entertainment to national television network news reporters, producers and hosts that number must be into the thousands. I listen to Dan's podcasts almost daily. He is heart connected to his work, his audience and is an excellent listener. He is, and in my humble opinion, one of America's best interviewers and journalists - he knows the subjects so well he is able to distill scientific and professional jargon into simple language for the novice or beginner student of mindfulness, meditation and other subjects which have proven evidence based results for helping us heal and evolve our self care toward a more joy filled and less stressful life. And just about every interview subject is fascinating. Dan and his talented team of professionals at Ten Percent Happier make driving in LA a pleasure even in bumper to bumper traffic. Congratulations Dan for finding your place in life and thank you for your inspiring work. I know your road is going to be lined with many more spectators as people discover your immense talent and passion that enable a remarkable education for all that listen. I'm grateful for the leading experts and your dedication to excellence. I recommend your podcast and app for all.

Best Meditation App. I have been using this Ten Percent Happier app for a few years now. At first, it was a great tool to help me learn how to meditate. The guided meditations are easy to follow. Nowadays, this app has become a resource for me when I need some emotional grounding. If I’m upset and I meditate, I usually come out of the meditation feeling a whole lot better. With lots of practice, I have been able to use the skills I learn in meditation in my life when I’m not meditating. Mindfulness is a great tool to help keep us from getting so overwhelmed. We can find peace in the present moment. Think about it, is right now that bad? You’re sitting here reading my review. You might be worrying but I guarantee you you’re worried about the past or the future, because the present is okay for the most part. I have gotten my little brother and my mom to start using this app. They both love it and talk to me about it all the time now. My brother finds the Loving Kindness meditations particularly helpful. My mom is more of a beginner but she says the app has helped her feel less anxiety about the coronavirus. That’s a big win for us all. I love this app. I would recommend Ten Percent Happier to my loved ones, as I have already. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a pro, this app can help you with your mindfulness practice. It is filled with tons of guided meditations. Go ahead, download it. You will not be disappointed.

Love this App. I love this app. It’s really helping me to feel better about how I meditate. I’m definitely one of the those highly fidgety people. Not skeptical but quieting my mind has always been a challenge. What I love most, is this is teaching me so much about mindful meditation which is sooo different from other meditations I’ve studied like TM. Its just so doable in practice. As an EFT Tapping Practitioner it really helps me in my life and in helping my clients as well. I LOVE the use of Mental Noting thank you Joseph Goldstein and I feel like Dan Harris is my brother from another mother. I so relate to him and his way of being. There are so many great teachers and I love the humor that is brought to this and I love the courses that are available. It’s so worth the investment. I’ve paid tens of thousands of dollars for my personal coaching which has all been great and the investment for this app and all that is given is really amazing. Sooo happy to know there are others who have felt like me as well. Feels like a functional funny home.

Skeptical? Yea, me too.. I have never been one to “imagine myself by the ocean” or find any use of guided imagery and guided meditation was always the same. I found myself getting more and more stressed with work, 2 small children, and my own high expectations. A friend mentioned this app, so I said I would try it, knowing that I probably wouldn’t. She asked one day how I liked it and I lied and said it was great. She then asked if I had just gone through my course or jumped into any of the other content as well. I didn’t know what to say so I said i had to run and i would catch up with her later. I decided the only way to get myself out of this mess was to actually download the app and give it a go. I completed the first two sessions of my course that morning and went on to explore the other content and found myself enthralled in this app for more than an hour. There were so many topics and stories that I saw that I knew I needed to hear. The meditation is actually TAUGHT and not just “guided”. I truly feel like I am learning to regulate myself and my days have never started so well and relaxed. Do yourself (and your friends and family) a favor and get this app. You won’t regret it.

Antidote to an over active mind. The 10% Happier Team of people on this app are just what the Dr ordered. I’ve had many rough times throughout my life and was at a bit of a breaking point. I stumbled across Dan Harris ( by the way thank you for help me save myself). I’m 61 living alone for the first time in my life. Yep, you heard that right. I’ve raised kids for 40 years with no break in between. Through those years I’ve buried a child, been divorced, my dad committed suicide, remarried-widowed at 50 years old with a 9 year old son, was in probate for my late husband for 8 years, watch and took care of my mother with Alzheimer’s for 7 years (RIP), my youngest son moved out a little over a year ago-my dog died suddenly and the man a had been dating , well that ended too! Life has required much from me. I am not by nature a quitter though many times I wanted to crawl in a hole and never come out!! No joke! I have been committed to saving my own soul honestly out of total desperation. I have high expectations for myself so I keep trying. I also have three grown sons and three grandchildren I love dearly and it’s important they all know I am trying to do well for myself. 10% Happier has been a beautiful guide for me. I have NO meditation experience but I have jumped in with both feet am and here to stay!! Please keep up the great work, I wouldn’t have come this far without your guidance! ♥️ Pam

Born a skeptic. I am not a sensitive, touchy feely person. I question most things until I have proof so Dan Harris’s introduction to meditation was exactly what I needed. Long story short- I tried this app (I got it on sale and was planning to drop it when I had to pay full price) and I have simply never been the same. It saved me many times especially through the last couple years of weirdness and anxiety. I found peace at times and wasn’t sure where it came from, like it snuck in unnoticed. If you are dedicated to putting in the work it will rescue you when you need it most. It has solid content- it isn’t really good in the beginning and then ends ups sucking it has been consistently AWESOME. Dan is so relatable and down to earth and honest that I feel like I may be sitting in his living room with him at times. He’s a seeker and investigator at heart and that is why I believe the content stays so good. Love this app!

So Worth It!!!. The 10% Happier book was recommended to me as I was struggling deeply with anxiety and depression. I started reading the book but, as I am an extremely slow reader, at a certain point in the book (once you realize that it’s meditation that makes Mr. Harris 10% Happier), I wanted to know how to utilize it in my life. At that point, the thought of being left alone in silence in my own head seemed like a terrifying idea. “I already spend too much time in there,” I thought. However, I decided to do the 7 day free trial and see what it was all about. I was told that this app might be better received by men, but I’m a young woman that prefers this app over others that I was told would be geared more toward women. I LOVE the fact that every session has an intro video for the person to hear about the meditation they’re about to practice. I’m so happy to report that the hype in my head that this would be a scary experience, was in fact wrong. This app has become my GO TO for relaxation, acceptance of my feelings, and the tool to help me process my thoughts and emotions. It seems a little spendy at first, but when you break that year subscription down by month, it’s really not bad and also, worth every penny!

This and FitMind are the greatest combination of meditation apps I’ve found. Sorry Dan for mentioning your “competitor” but I feel like this along with FitMind brings a clarity into what meditation. I only know about this app because of the suggestion of your book from FitMind app so they deserve it. This is an incredible app for being practical and has so many different -respective son the different practices and the interviewing aspect brought to the meditations is so helpful. I’m very grateful for Dan Harris and the team who works with him to bring eternal ancient wisdom into a very palatable modern way. I found myself only reading the Suttas for a while and I’m not a monk so before I got burned out, I was lucky enough to pick up Dan Harris’ book “10 percent happier” to help bring my practice back to earth for me. I didn’t even ask for a student discount cause the value of what’s contained here is far beyond the asking price. Get this app! (And FitMind) it Will change your life.

10% Happier is an understatement. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder two years ago, and was told that I’ve probably been suffering from it much longer than I realized. Fast forward to 2020 - I became a first-time mom at 38 years old, suffered from postpartum depression, and just when I was starting to find my footing, the world was immediately hurled into the COVID-19 pandemic. The stress wreaked havoc on my body. Everyday I felt like I was physically drowning; my chest was cramped, my muscles ached, I was permanently exhausted but couldn’t sleep, and my brain was foggy. I tried taking anxiety medication and it made me extremely nauseous, which further triggered my anxiety. I thought I was doomed; I felt so helpless. Then I read Dan Harris’s book, 10% Happier, and I figured if meditation helped him, maybe it would help me. Now I use the app daily, in conjunction with a daily routine that involves yoga, reasonably healthy eating, supplements as recommended by my physician, and continued communication and collaboration with my support net of friends and family. It’s part of a bigger picture, and it has made a world of difference. Physically, the chest tightness and muscular tension have decreased significantly. And mentally I find myself much more resilient in the face of stress, especially the kind induced by the intrusive irrational fears that come with GAD. Thank you to the 10% Happier team. In my case, “10% Happier” would be an understatement.

I like it more and more everyday. I stumbled upon the free version and thought “maybe I should try something like this”. I found myself really appreciating the one minute meditations. And then I started exploring the app and each time I do I find a new instructor or new category that I seem to like even more. I signed up for a monthly subscription “thinking oh I I’ll get bored with it after a few weeks.” I stopped the subscription because I was trying to save money but quickly found I missed it. I have now purchased the yearly subscription. I view it as a small investment in myself. I really have come to rely on these guided meditations. Before I reach for crap and junk food, I can turn to the mindful eating meditations and check in with myself. At night I really appreciate a little bit of the downtown offered through meditation before going to bed. And just this morning I discovered a gratitude meditation that’s a perfect way to start my day. Thanks for creating this.

Best mindfulness app for real people. I have been practicing meditation on (and off and on and off) for 3 years and this app has been enormously helpful. I still need the support of guided meditation and I love the huge range of meditations led by phenomenal experts. This course structure is also fantastic- it helps you focus on certain aspects of what meditation can bring to your life- focus, compassion, etc. over the period of a week or two. The structure reminds me of sports practices. Delve into one aspect of the game intensely, and then test out how you’re going to implement the skill for yourself. The videos are also so helpful. With raging ADD, it has been a very effective way to capture my attention and make the task of returning daily a lot less work. The app has reminder notifications and other common tricks like a streak counter to help with motivation. But the vast library of effective meditations and getting to hear from mindfulness gurus makes this so worth the annual fee. Thanks 10% Happier!

Excellent and Impactful!. I’ll start by saying before downloading this app, I was a bit critical of the potential impact of meditation - mainly due to my own bias and lack of knowledge. First few weeks if trying (tried to do so 5 days/week) I was on fence. Having said that, upon consistent practice and completing over 75 courses in this app as of time of writing, I’m a believer. I’ve gone through a few lesson plans as well as some singles. Each offers a great new perspective and practice of techniques while at the same time sharing similar underlying trends. Although still a beginner, I've already noticed important changes in my life and am excited to continue my practice in the future. One note: Again, this is an excellent app with meaningful knowledge from experts in the field of meditation. However, I would preface that if you are a beginner (like myself) I’d recommend trying to make note that ultimately the impact of meditation will be contingent on your consistent practice and commitment - the app is a great tool to help in such, but it’s ultimately up to you to make it happen.

Ten Percent Happier Teacher, Mom, & Wife. This app has changed my life! I found myself slipping into a dark place shortly after our schools shutdown in March of 2020. My purpose in life was slowly dying. I was overwhelmed with teaching Kindergarten remotely, trying to contact uncooperative parents, recording videos of myself each day while battling the “comparing mind,” not ever really unplugging from work, and simultaneously helping my three children do their own schoolwork through a new platform none of us were accustomed to at that time. I found this App through the podcast 10% Happier which I listen to faithfully! Dan has high quality guests that he interviews with insightful topics. I love his sarcasm, sense or humor, and devil’s advocate role Dan plays to shed light on the doubters. It has helped me become more equanimous, practice self compassion and loving-kindness. Thanks to Dan Harris and the gang at TPH, I am about 10% Happier, and a little nicer to others, especially my husband, children, & my students! I would highly recommend the app to anyone in need of a tool to help juggle life and feel more at peace with oneself and the world around them!

Helped turn me, my son, and my wife into daily meditators. I had listened to the audio version of Dan Harris’s book 10% Happier and enjoyed the story of how a skeptic turned to meditation. Then the app came along at just the right time during some stressful times, and I figured, “Why not?” I had dabbled in meditation many years ago, but didn’t develop the habit. The app has some of the best known meditation instructors in the US plus many you will not have heard of who are fantastic. Step by step it got us trying it each day. Then we started to notice the subtle benefits of mindfulness both during the day and when trying to get to sleep, and we were hooked. Feedback on latest version: Please add an option to turn off the annoying incrementing statistics and options to “share” my meditation stats. That’s not why I meditate. Also, I was glad when a previous version added the ability to search for particular instructors or meditations. Now it is gone again? There is too much content to make us dig around looking. Thanks.

Dan Harris. I’m a RN and I used to work in an HIV Clinic that was opened Monday through Friday. I’ve always watched Dan Harris on GMA on the weekends and I loved watching him and Paula Farris. They are my favorite anchor people (although Paula Farris has left sometime back). I’ve always enjoyed hearing Dan Harris talk about the “ten percent” but never gave the app much thought. Now that covid-19 has hit our communities hard, the need to learn how to stay mindful is key. It’s even harder because covid-19 hasn’t just taken away our form of being (going to concerts, eating out, going to a movie theater, studying at a coffee shop) it’s taken away our sense of reality. The only way to get that back learning to be “mindful” and learning to stay in the moment and knowing that we need to respond and not react, that’s the only way we’re gonna keep our sanity through covid. Dan Harris does a nice job of connecting us with the right people at the right time. It’s an awesome set up and nicely done to teach us how to be mindful. Dan Harris teaches us in baby steps, if that is what your profile calls for, its great!

Thank you, thank you!. I work in healthcare and have taken advantage of your generous free trial. I can’t thank you enough for the gift! I have found the app immensely helpful in recalibrating mental well-being on tough days and in bolstering my baseline resilience during this pandemic. I would say the free app has turned out to be my personal “silver lining” during the pandemic. Although I have dabbled in mindfulness and meditation a little bit over the years, neither really “clicked” with me, even after trying other related apps. This app is different. The variety of teaching formats has made a crucial difference. For instance, the videos that show how meditation and mindfulness can change the brain really helped me, the ADD skeptic, better understand and accept the practice of meditation as legit. I also love the way Dan interacts with his guests and brings his personal experiences to the table. I have found the meditations that have science-related informational nuggets sprinkled throughout them the most helpful, I think because they engage multiple aspects of my brain, thus holding my attention better. I also really like being able to listen to the app’s “Talks,” as an alternative to meditating. I have learned so much!

The first time I’ve ever felt like I WANTED to do mindfulness. I’m a social work grad student, so the mindfulness concept has been tossed around plenty in my circles. I’ve had therapists recommend it to me. When I was a Head Start pre-school teacher, I taught it to young children. Even with all this, I never felt successful at mindfulness and felt it a chore. A friend recommended this app and I really respect her, so I gave it a shot. I fully intended to cancel before the free week was up. I’m not big on paying for apps that I may use a couple of times. I was surprised how simple and successful meditation/mindfulness became. I’m still a newb to this but wanted to put it out there that it’s worth the money! I also realized that this app is a form of self-therapy and by investing in it, you take it more seriously. 100% I am not the review writer type and have not been incentivized to write this. I just want to encourage anyone out there reading this to give it a chance!

A great way to start pulling your life together. I highly recommend this app as an app for beginners. Their explanations are the best and you can start right away. Within 5 minutes you’ll be meditating and once you feel he stress lets off your body, you’ll feel a lot better. I came across this app in 2018 in a very stressful period of my life. I had this work that somehow led to a very anxious and nervous state of my mind and I had no idea how to fix it. The sell point was their 1 minute meditation. I was skeptical at first as I had already tried several meditation apps and didn’t get any of what they were about. But this one was different. I started with 1 minute meditation at home and it worked!then I did it in a subway, at work, even in the toilet. I got used to letting my stress out and it stopped accumulating in my body so easily. I managed to complete the work meditating as much as I could (like 5-8 meditations a day) and the results were great! Take your mental health very seriously and take care of yourself cause nobody will do it for you.

Correction question. I’ve not actually engaged in the app as of yet. But i plan to, and am excited about doing so. My correction question is, isn't the person that the description talks about Sam Harris not Dan Harris. I would think you are aware of the error by now but you never know. i could be mistaken, but that is not likely, as i try to see and hear as much of Sam Harris as i can. When i first came across his efforts i was and i guess still am listening to Alan Watts. Sam was maybe the third person in my life that spoke my language. That is, he would often confirm for me ideas and conclusions i had knocking around in my head for a long time and newer thoughts as well. Soon as that kind of thing happens, well, thats a friend of mine. Anyway, its amazing to me how after he lectures, people can still find ways to fool themselves in order to continue believing something that is so clearly inaccurate. If the statements in this article about Dan Harris are in fact true, allow me the convenience of saying thank you Sam, you are appreciated to the extreme. Please continue in your roll as the leader of our crusade. Peace to you and yours

Game changer for me. I felt I had a long history of being unhappy with myself for a variety of reasons...I heard about the 10% happier book when it was released and decided to read it, then started looking for ways to start meditating myself. I wasn’t very consistent to start, but saw the value of trying...with the app, I became more consistent, which led to more commitment, which led to more contentment in many aspects of my life. Then I had a major medical issue come up...and I really feel meditation and mindfulness has made my medical situation easier to deal with. The coaches have been there when I needed them, and because of the variety of meditations and teachers I am able to tailor my training daily to my specific needs. Thank you to everyone associated with this app and for the thousands of ways it has helped me feel like a better person. I feel way more than 10% happier...

Transforming. I just listened to Yael’s talk on loneliness after receiving the email from 10% informing me it was a new talk and inviting me to listen. Her openness struck a chord in me - for I became aware about 7 years ago while I was running around, that I was the busiest yet loneliest person I knew. Her talk transformed the chatter in my head of negativity about the feeling and invited me to a new thought - that the real me inside was letting me know that she was still in there and had desires and wants that were not being fulfilled. The funny thing is 7 years ago without knowing - I started that journey back to me. As of today I am far from where I want to be, but knowing that I am heading there and this is a part of that journey to the life I desire has turned that shame I felt and still feel at times - into something magical. Thank you for creating this app and helping me! I am so excited about where I am headed, at times I am giddy - and knowing 10% is there to help guide me and remind me is comforting. Everyone should get and listen to this app!!

Best Gift I Could Have Gotten. This is hands down the best meditation app experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried a considerable number of them. I was continually cycling through intro videos for a long time. They’re so kind to beginner meditators and are instructional in ways that were incredibly helpful to my easily distracted self. When the COVID outbreak began and 10 Percent offered free full access to essential employees, I was beyond happy. As a stressed-out hospital employee and last semester grad student in NYC, this was one of the most meaningful and caring things I could have gotten. I have been able to meditate longer than I ever thought was possible before. I’ve been able to decompress and wind down after long, high stress days. It has truly improved my quality of life in one of the most tumultuous times I’ve ever experienced. I never write reviews. But I really had to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this phenomenal program. I can’t imagine how much time and energy you all have poured into making this as excellent as it is and I’m incredibly grateful for each moment you spent on it.

A brilliant configuration. I find this program to be rich with workable options and opportunities to learn about (and manage, bit by bit) my mind and entrenched mental habits. It has helped me in several ways, maybe because it gets straight to a point without any pseudo-spiritual “fluff”. It is not about stopping thought. Rather, I see it as helping users to notice and learn about one’s habitual thoughts, emotions and responses. For example I notice feeling less scattered, and less reactive since starting 10%H a year+ ago. It is a subtle vs dramatic shift. The speaker/guides are racially and culturally diverse and have very different styles and approaches to choose from. 10% H coach Joshua has enhanced my ability to navigate the sessions with timely, personal, practical suggestions. The app keeps developing as a work in progress which I like. 10% Happier is a realistic name for this app. I hope it is increasingly available to folks who have different kinds of devices other than iPhones. I recommend it highly. Thank you Dan Harris, Joseph Goldstein, Joshua and all of you who design and teach this practical approach to meditation. You have made a very positive difference not only for me but also for others to whom I have gifted your program. Well done.

I’m at least ten percent happier!!!. I am a single female, 66 yrs young, who just retired Oct 2020. I had planned to retire end of 2020, but COVID moved up that date. I am very happy with this decision, and more content every day. It took some time to get here for sure! Allot of this contentment is due to you Dan - and your ten percent happier team. I stared listening to your free podcast while on furlough March-July, along with several others podcasts. When I went back to work it wasn’t long before I knew I was ready to retire NOW. I worked in the travel industry and LOVED my job in Group Sales- but the workplace and the job was never going to be the same. At least while I was there. So I retired early, and was excited about my decision. As you may imagine- the real challenge for me was the isolation, which I knew was coming. I was loosing the social aspect of the workplace and with COVID there was no socializing with friends. In the beginning I had some really dark days. Many questioned my decision to retire at this time. I heard your ad for the New Years meditation challenge and signed up. I have since bought the subscription to your app- (thanks so much for the discount!!) and continue to learn more about meditation. I have now gone through 3 months and feel more optimistic and excited then ever before! I can definitely see and feel the difference in how I am setting in. I’m a very satisfied customer👍 Thank you! Jeri Hawkins

Super helpful meditation app. I have been meditating using the 10% Happier app for over a year now and all the different courses and meditation offerings encourage me to practice more regularly. I’ve noticed that I can handle stress better. When things do get tough, it’s easier to step out of the mode of just “reacting” and instead connect to my breathing and my body to calm myself down. It’s become easier to recognize stress and then to see different, more creative ways of dealing with it. Through the app I’m also learning to be more compassionate towards myself and others. I can recognize my own negative self talk and try to change my inner dialogue. I also enjoy listening to the many far ranging and engaging podcasts that Dan moderates. I find it fascinating to listen to the perspectives of folks who are top of their various fields. It’s inspiring. Many thanks to Dan Harris and his team for continuing to create and bring amazing content that benefits all of your listeners.

Best way to learn how to integrate the benefits of meditation into your life. My ability to use this app to tap into the benefits of meditation has been life changing. I had always struggled to manage stress and anxiety and got by - until my teen had a mental health crisis in the pandemic. I needed more reserves, more “respond don’t react” than I had the tools for. I had sporadically tried other meditation apps to help with sleep or stress in the past but it didn’t connect. Dan’s journalistic questioning and platform of teaching is HOW meditation works was the difference for me. I’m in the infancy of my practice and already i see that it’s changed my life for the better and allowed me to be a better mom to my teenage girls (I’m really important ways) and wife. The battle for mental and physical well being in our society is fierce right now and I have come to believe that mindfulness is the way through it- and 10 percent happier is the ticket for me and anyone who needs to understand it and Not just Do it. I’ve been a subscriber for about a year and have never left feedback for any app before - but this one deserves it in spades.

Two Suggestions. Overall, I love this app. I love that it’s geared toward people who aren’t necessarily spiritually minded, like myself. This approach definitely works much better for me than, say, Deepak Chopra’s approach. And I have nothing against Deepak Chopra. I just love the Everyman vibe of this program. I do have two minor suggestions for improvements, though. I have noticed that if you rewind part of a video or meditation and watch or listen to that part over again, or fast forward (maybe you watched part of it and are trying to pick up where you left off), the time is counted strangely. It tends to overcount your time. I think it’s counting the time you fast forward through, if you fast forward, for example, instead of the actual time the video is playing. I would love for that to get fixed. I also recently started downloading some meditation courses, and I noticed that the closed captioning option disappeared after I did that. So the exact same course will have closed captioning if I’m streaming it, but not if it’s been downloaded. Please fix that as well.

Generally cheap, but I pay for this!. I normally would say that you can find free content which mirrors the same benefits received from using this app, however I feel it is really worth it. I enjoy the way the app is organized - the meditations are specific to any brand of suffering you may be experiencing, if that is preferable. But, they are super thoughtful because just when I was thinking I wanted a bell and some silence instead of talking - voilá, that choice was offered. If you like more guidance, you can connect to that. Less guidance- also! The challenges are fun, informative and move me forward as a human and the interviews are wonderful. Dan is able to offer so many different perspectives on a variety of life issues via these talks. My only ask is that you guys interview some everyday people. If you’re going to interview non-experts like celebrities, please ask some teachers, fireman, everyday docs and nurses how they use meditation as a tool to sustain themselves. I’d like to hear from people who do it without staff.

Best meditation app. Ten percent happier is the best meditation app hands down for me. This is the only app I found myself use consistently, not because of sheer will power but because I am actually very interested in the contents. I have logged over 380 minutes on the app last time I checked! Each module focuses on a theme, beginners meditation, coping with stress, and forming habits, etc. Each module consists of multiple lessons and is led by an experienced and insightful instructor. A typical lesson begins with a short interview and convo between Dan Harris, the host, and the meditation “guru”. Dan asks questions on behalf of me and other people new to meditation and this format really helps to set the stage. I am being guided through every lesson and usually learn tidbit of new skill each lesson in being able to introspect better. I can’t say thank you enough for the wonderful work the host and the guest speakers have done to deliver this easy to use app; my world has become a little calmer and better every day.

Amazing App. I’ve downloaded and tried many meditation apps & done their meditations, hypnotherapy, hypnosis, tapping you name it. I couldn’t fall asleep. I couldn’t be fully mindful it just wasn’t working. Then I found this app & for the 1st time I’m able to find peace during the day & want to meditate & it’s feels amazing. My panic attacks are not as severe & I’m noting feelings & using the meditation practice. At night I have a hard time falling asleep. I’m falling asleep before the meditation is over. My husband actually is amazed that I’m finally going to bed by 10PM. I used to stay up reading & listening to podcasts & falling asleep if it was a good night by 1AM. The podcasts on this app are very informative & I have been able to identify with the people being interviewed & the specialists that are interviewed too. One take away was the practice of using colors. It works for me. I hope you get out of this app as much as I have. Be mindful & at peace everyone.

10% happier and 99.9% in love. But... I’ve become accustomed to the app quickly and it’s accessible interface and features. It’s easy to start a meditation and let it play in the background while I go about my day or even sleep. The sessions have a great customizable timers. The only only only thing I find questionable is the sleeping modules. I love to have a calming method of mediating until a sleeping state. However, because the sleeping meditations (or any meditations for that matter) lack any sort of background noise or white noise to know it’s playing, I keep being distracted by whether or not the session is still going. Worst of all, sometimes I do drift to sleep with one of the meditations and the sudden silence to sudden speech wakes me up in a very uncomfortable and sudden manner. Which disturbs my sleep to begin with. I wish this was an optional feature I could add to my sleeping meditations or maybe all of them.

All the depth you could want. Excellent for all levels. If you want to graze the surface and simply understand the concepts and opportunities quickly, the interview videos are great. If you want to dig deep into a specific area of growth or problem-solving path, The course structure works well. The courses are carefully curated and arranged. I find them deeper and more rewarding on repeated traversals. The singles format is nice for fighting a specific issue or dipping your toe into areas but as my practice develops I find myself more often returning to courses for a third, seventh, or 10th review. The message based coaching format is nice for filling in gaps, clarifying confusions, and making connections. Unlike many apps built with a “Shoot and Forget” mentality. Across many years, new continent and updates seem to keep coming, holding prior quality levels and even improving on them from time to time.

Subscribe now!. During this COVID pandemic, I have had a large of anxiety start to reveal its ugly head. The uncertainty of these times have left me feeling helpless. However, I stumbled upon the first 10% Happier podcast and now the app, and it has changed my life. I might not be zen all the time, but my mindfulness has increased exponentially over the course of the several months. The app offers so many insightful courses on stress, concentration, compassion that it provides a little escape for me to take care of my mental health and well-being, and stop obsessing about the physical side. If you don’t have time to commit to some of the courses, take one of their single meditations, in which you can set the duration of the session. The best part of the app though are the meditation teachers, who are all at the top of their field, interesting and uniquely insightful. I have been using this app since March 2020, and it has truly changed my life. Why not give it a try? What do you have to lose?

A huge help these days!. Im recommending this app to everyone! I recently got Ten Percent Happier after listening to their podcasts and hearing one of the teachers (Jay Michaelson) speak. What I like about it is that they face current events (e.g. the pandemic) head on and they are very real. They also have a live session every weekday. I have another popular meditation app, but this one is proving more useful to me these days because they are so honest, direct, and topical. The teachers are diverse. Another cool feature is that you can often choose the length of your meditation depending on your time and attention at the moment. Lots of great sleep meditations, too. My only critique is that after every meditation it gives me a kind of cheer of how well I’m doing and adds up how many times I’ve meditated, and I don’t really need or want that kind of feedback. (Maybe there is a way to turn that off). You can also ask for personal guidance, which I haven’t tried yet. All in all, this is saving my sanity.

My First Year with 10% Happier. 10% Happier offers options for the newbies as well as the more seasoned meditators through a variety of topics it addresses as well as the formats these topics are introduced to the audience. The courses, that’s what the series of sessions facilitated by experienced and well-known meditation gurus are called, explore universal topics through a brief two-minute conversation with the teacher that leads to a guided meditation part. There are daily sessions that vary in topics that they address with duration options that the audience can select, usually ranging from five minutes up to half an hour. After a year of having the 10% Happier app on my phone, and being able to access the meditation sessions through the WiFi or after downloading them, I have created a daily routines that include meditation, and I am looking forward to meditating anywhere and anytime. Convenient, well-organized and practical, 10% Happier supports my learning in mindfulness daily.

Getting my life back.... It’s been a long and winding road, to quote the Beatles. My road happen to lead straight down a dimly lit cellar with only a flickering flame of guidance. It was easier to sit down and just stay put. Occasional strength would rush in to feel like guidance. Yay, a way out! Until I stood up and tried to take a few steps only to have the darkness wash over my shine. After reading 10% Happier I found a way to start belly-crawling slowly, cautiously. Then, this app came along, put its warm hand on my back, pointed to a trickling stream of water and said, “the water can guide you through the darkness...” and I began to crawl. I’m still crawling because of the glimpses of light I catch when I look up. This app is giving me some tools and a warm, supportive hand on my back, to getting my life back. Thank you for creating this and all that goes into it. For me, it’s a warm blanket of hope, decorated in skepticism. I prefer it to blind faith. Cheers all.

LOVE this app!. I have an hour+ commute and ALWAYS listen to a ten percent podcast on my way to office even if that means I’m diving into the archives or relistening to an episode. Really liked the getting fit spin, anything that talks science of how meditation affects brain and body is so interesting to me. I’ve bought multiple books after listening to podcasts and now force myself to hold off on more purchases until I finish current book. Have really enjoyed having celebrity podcasts and super excited that you will have 3 per week…it’s as if you read my mind. Thank you Dan for your outright honesty and sarcasm, makes this all the more real. I’m gaining muscle on my other meditation practices and keep vowing to carve more time because I know it helps my monkey mind and anxiety when I do. Thanks for always making improvements and having so many options and meditation teachers. Would love more new sleep meditations as I almost always go to sleep listening to one. This app has been a real life saver in my overall health. Keep up the great work!!

A meditation app that I’m not embarrassed to share!. I first read Dan Harris’s book of the same name and was so impressed by his no-nonsense approach to meditation and quickly found both the podcast and the app. I have been a casual fan of meditation for 10 years, but have always been turned off by the hippy, metaphysical and woo woo aspects of it. However I still wanted to deepen my practice. My heritage is southeast Asian and so meditation is a common practice in my family. But the insights, data-driven applications to real world examples gave me a much deeper appreciation for the benefits of my practice. And that quantitative approach was hugely appealing to the skeptic in me! I also appreciate how encouraging the curated experts are. They speak in plain English and there are zero crystals involved! And the best part is I am 100% happy to share the app with others and open a dialogue about meditation without fear of being judged (See what I did there?) but honestly, the first app that I am not embarrassed to share with others!

A heart-felt thank you. This is wonderful, possibly the most positive change in my life this year. I have briefly tried other popular meditation apps, and I still think 10% Happier is the best. I love the lessons - giving me a sense of progress and guiding me to think about specific issue areas, like relationship and focus, I also use the individual guided recordings all the time for sleep, or when I find some time to meditate during the day. I appreciate that you get to know the names, voices and styles of the teachers - Joseph, Oren... - because meditation shouldn’t be an anonymous, faceless thing. Being aware of the teachers make me appreciate this as an individual journey that we each have to travel alone, but with each other’s help. I came to appreciate Dan’s interactions with them too because his self-deprecating humor makes me feel that I don’t need to be in a rush and even the most fidgety and skeptical of us can get this too. I feel very lucky to find this as my introduction to meditations. The app is very thoughtful and well-designed, I would certainly recommend it to others!

I love it.. I found this app after reading Dan’s book, which I really enjoyed because of the approach he has to meditation. I was really interested in meditation and tried a few apps before but found them a bit gimmicky, like a lot of music and sounds and “take deep breaths” but I wasn’t feeling it. I know everyone will enjoy different things, but as a physician I have really appreciated all the science bits on this one. I happened to buy the subscription before this pandemic happened, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done, as I’ve found this tremendously helpful during this time with all the resources they’ve provided and has helped me stay grounded with all the stress around me. So I’m giving them some love because they deserve it and I feel the investment is totally worth it. I live in Costa Rica, so hopefully there could eventually be some content in spanish so I can have more friends and family involved.

110% Skeptical. I was a 110% skeptical going into this. I have ADD and doctors (east & west) have been suggesting a mindfulness practice for years. I just never bought in. I tried this mostly so I could say I tried but never expected anything. Today is my 28th day if using the app daily. I immediately felt different—more grounded and balanced—and, yes, happier. I started with The Basics course and appreciated the “learn” part of each session and Dan’s very real, typical person questions and comments. The Type A in me also loves that I can SEE “success” in the app’s tracking of mindful days, sessions, etc—and esp my streak! 😂 Even if I miss my AM meditation (which I hate missing now), I can listen to a Talk while on the go and still get in my mindfulness fix! I use a sleep meditation EVERY night, and it has truly improved my sleep by helping me soothing and focusing my swirling thoughts. I am most definitely at least 10% happier—and 100% happy with this app. It has changed my life—and is a blessing in my new pandemic life.

The best $99 I’ve ever spent.. I dare say if you were able to quantify how much “bang for your buck” you can get out of any app out there - This has to be #1. I can’t even begin to describe how effective this little gem has been at helping me learn the basics of meditation, manage my stress, learn more about myself as a human and increase my overall well being. I purchased this in May of 2019, it is now January 2020 and I will without a doubt renew next years subscription. I have a very stressful but rewarding job and was in the verge of burnout. Now, I feel in control and have been more productive than ever. I just found that taking time each morning for the practice lead to a better day. I am now taking a beginners meditation class with a group at a Dharma center and it’s lead me down a path I didn’t even fully understand I needed and could use but I’m glad to be on it. The hardest part for me was getting in the habit of using this daily. Luckily they have SO MANY ways to integrate meditation and mindfulness into your daily life and tips to help you do it. The videos are wonderfully produced, sound quality is top notch, the teachers are very knowledgeable diverse and insightful. They are also funny and relatable and not just all a bunch of “new-agey woo-woo!” I have my favorites and you will too. This was the best app investment I’ve ever made. I highly recommend.

Life changing. I have tried to establish a meditation routine for years to no avail. For some reason once I started using this app I developed a daily routine! I’ve been using this app for almost 2 years now. The best part for me is that over time I began to notice myself becoming calmer during times when I would otherwise become extremely angry or agitated and I began to feel awareness when I would otherwise easily go through a day like a robot, doing the motions without being aware I was doing the motions. Day in day out......where the hell did my life go kinda thing. Flat zombie life. Now when I feel a “negative” emotion I am aware of it and it passes quickly instead of getting stuck. You know, the obsessive mind loop that gets you no where?..... I also have moments now when I remember to be aware throughout my day. For me this has resulted in making each day more robust somehow?! The mundane no longer feels flat and zombie-robot like anymore.

Wow, love this app and highly recommend. I’ve tried creating a meditation habit multiple times over the last few years, using other apps and other methods I’ve been exposed to. It never stuck. Using this app, I’ve consistently meditated over the past 5 weeks, 4 or 5 days per week, sometimes more than once per day. I’ve also carried over some of the skills I’ve learned from the courses/meditations into my life. For example when I’m thinking about something random and pointless and notice it, I label it “thinking” and am present again. I also more quickly notice when I’m thinking negative thoughts or feeling negative emotions, and use a couple other tools I have learned to turn them around. It’s also becoming easier for me during meditation to focus on my breath and to notice when my attention is elsewhere. I don’t think I’m necessarily the main target market for this app. I’m not type A and I’m not a skeptic. I was already sold on the benefits of meditation. But I love the way this app is executed. I’ve used a few of the standalone meditations, but I’ve mostly followed the courses. I like the format of a short video covering a FAQ or meditation concept or skill, followed by an audio intro that leads into the main guided meditation. I’ve finished a few courses and they’ve all been useful. In short, if you’re serious about wanting to meditate but have had difficulty sticking with it in the past, I think this app could be what you’re looking for.

Find the time to listen to yourself. It’s worth it.. After 1 week, I am sold. Simply taking a few minutes out of my day to reflect and focus my thoughts has made for an interesting experience. When I first started, I couldn’t see past the restlessness I felt inside; I found myself focusing too deeply on the back and forth rocking sensation I felt as my heart beat, and was surprised by how much motion was still occurring beyond my control as I intentionally attempted to be still and clear my mind. Today, I am finding myself more aware of many other sensations going on inside me — the rocking motion, I can still feel but only as I focus my awareness on my heart beating instead of my nostrils flaring or my wandering thoughts. I’ve been so impressed with meditation, I’ve convinced my wife to give it a try as well, and now we both plan time before bed to be guided through the basics of meditation. Now she’s hooked as well! I know this is only the beginning, but I’m very excited to see where this leads. If I can feel this way after only a week, I can only assume the benefits of making it a regular practice. So very glad I was introduced to this app, and I highly recommended it!

Practical. I’ve tried other meditation apps, but this is by far the best. I love how it explains the intent of each day’s practice. In the past, I hurt only myself with my quick emotional reactions. I went through a nasty more-than-2-year divorce in which my ex, a dentist who I gave up my career for, hid all of our stock and cash. Whenever friends brought him up (or something that reminded me of him), my reaction made them uncomfortable, and thus they wouldn’t want to be with me. These lessons help me acknowledge, name and observe my bodily stress reactions. This helps slow things down a bit so I can respond rather than react. Of course I’m not always successful, but I realize my falling off the wagon and try to be better about it the next time. (I know I’m at least 10% better, and probably far mor!) For the first time in nearly 4 years, I feel I found a valuable tool for self improvement where I need it most.

Happy to see the latest update. ETA - I changed my rating. I’m excited to see the unguided timer (& some of the guided meditations) back after the latest app update. I understand some stuff has to be saved for the paid version but making the unguided timer for paid members only felt like it went against the spirit of the books message. After the update this app is back to being one of my favorites. I loved this app. I read both of Dan Harris’s books. I’ve used the unguided meditation timer for the past 3 weeks. I liked trying the different guided meditations. And I was really tempted to try the paid version. I don’t understand the recent decision to limit the guided meditations to just a few and make the unguided timer for paid users only. How do they expect to get people to try the app out and love it to the point where they want more when they limit it to the point where it makes more sense to try a different app.

Wonderful. Sad to see the 2 day challenge end but even more focused to keep daily mediation as a daily ritual! 10% Happier has been such a wonderful App to access, especially last year during difficult times. Thank you 🙏

A daily companion. I’ve been using the Ten Percent Happier app for a few years now. It is the singular tool that has helped me form a daily meditation habit. The guided meditation content is excellent in both Singles and Courses format. Renowned instructors including Joseph Goldstein and Sebene Selassie provide valuable insights within the meditations that help build confidence and awareness in your practice, boost mindfulness and gratitude in your life and offer great comfort in challenging times. The milestones feature I have found really useful, tracking daily and weekly unbroken streaks, and completed courses, with badges the kind of acknowledgment I have needed to keep going. Having ad-free access to the Podcasts series is a real bonus. I’ve gained so much knowledge and insights on topics such as Buddhism, healthier living and techniques to reduce anxiety or boost my meditation practice. I’ve also heard many insightful stories of people’s lives that have helped me in mine. I delayed reviewing the app until a bug that had the app freeze and crash was resolved. It works perfectly now. Thank you 10 Percent Happier team :-)

Easy to get into. This app provides a straight forward path to get into mindfulness mediation. The reminders help to keep you consistent and the videos provide funny real world examples for the topics of each meditation before you start. The eight free meditations give you a great start and I will be looking to carry on with the paid side as I like the format.

10 Stars for 10% Happier. Love this app. It has been with me for the past few years whilst I studied my Masters and has been helpful regardless of what mood or emotion I was experiencing. I love the challenges and find that my practise is kept on track by being accountable to those who join me. It would be ideal if this feature was able to be available to the app all year around. It is the closest I can get to a mediation buddy and like exercise we always do better with a buddy.😊

The best meditation app by a long way!. I’ve tried at least 5 different apps, all with their strengths, however 10% happier is by far the best. Starting with courses that provide a short interview with a meditation expert and leading into a guided or lightly guided meditation - it’s brilliant. Not too ‘woo-woo’ either with practical advice from younger and older practitioners. Thanks Dan and team!

Brilliant courses and meditations. Having these guys in my pocket is amazing. Every day I take a short lesson and a guided meditation. I particularly LOVE Joseph Goldstein. Such a wise, knowledgeable , articulate and beautiful teacher. Having my questions answered via personal one on one contact is so valuable as well

Wonderful app. This has been a life changing find, a daily companion to guide me through meditations, a sense of community and finding my people, I would highly recommend bringing this into your life to lead a more mindful life.

Life changing!. Since my friend (thanks Anna!) introduced me to tenpercent happier app and mindfulness meditation, I have found using this app to be it a soothing and supportive tool for mental wellness, with the easy to learn, practical and evidence based courses, variety of wonderful teachers (who all seem to have the most amazing soothing voices). It is helping me to tame anxiety, foster inner calm and control, and to focus my attention on the things I want to think about, relax into sleep, and the practices and podcast helped me to let go of fear and tension through some long uncomfortable sessions at the dentist this year! It’s so convenient to use, and practising meditation has become my habit on my daily train commute. This app has great things for everyone, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

More distractions from yourself. I read the book and liked it, which then lead me to find this app. I thought the price was way too high (really unnecessary, a focus on getting rich and being successful rather than helping people), plus there are so many distractions that I think go against the goal of meditation. Many notifications, the medals for doing that much or that much, and videos and talk instead of just being with yourself. Just turn off the device and be with yourself. You will get much more benefit than using this app which will work to strengthen the ego rather than helping you be aware of it.

How I think you could improve this app. I would like to start by saying I have never been a great student and a lot for what I am not getting out of this app is most likely my fault with that being said here is how I believe you could improve this practice for others 1. (An option to record your meditation time silently) after a few guided meditation this app becomes extremely repetitive and distracting some times I find myself in the grove staying with the breath clear and focused only to become thrown off by the next reminder or instruction if I’m paying for this service I should be able to record my meditation time however I see fit 2. The ability to keep a journal on your progress you could keep after a session could be a good idea 3. Something on meditation for addiction and self control other then just mindful eating would be great What I like: Guided sleep meditation is great Most of the lesion are great too just a lot of repetition I don’t mind rewatching something I really took a lot away from I watch some ted talks twice three times a year as a reminder. it would just be helpful to have less of the same great messages to sort through All in all I have spent $100 on worst things I would just not renew my membership with the current formula Sorry about the grammar or lack there of

Great update. A huge change and update which is great. Love the new Icon and the whole new feel to the App. Tons of content. Fantastic! Some think it’s expensive but when you consider the Coach support is limitless it’s super cheap - try to get that support outside an App.

Suspicious / Slimy. Gets personal information from you before you can open the app, by forcing you to sign up or give your Facebook details, where it gets your full name, photo, and email address. This is a price you have to pay before your even see any of the app. Then it doesn't have even one free meditation for you to sample for yourself, unless you sign up for ongoing payments, currently $140 per year. All you can view is videos telling you how good they're supposed to be. The top app store review at this time, is obviously a paid/purchased review. Apple should be monitoring for these. The description is great, I'd love to try what this advertises, but there's something obviously wrong happening here. Why was this a featured app Apple?

My favourite meditation app so far. I’ve tried a bunch of meditation apps and this is my favourite so far. Not only are the teachers great, but the meditations have heart, which is something that is missing for the more secular apps. Joseph Golstein and Sharon Salzberg are true lights to meditation and my life. I wholeheartedly recommend 10% Happier app.

Thank you. Where would I be without 10 Percent ? I’m coming up to 50 weeks and I know my life has changed !!! Meditation has been a huge part of this ! Thank you to all the wonderful teachers for their insights and kindness !!!

Finally getting it. I have been trying to get the answer to: Am I doing it right? for 40 years. Finally Joseph has given me this answer and I can relax into meditation and mindfulness without berating myself for doing it wrong. Looking forward to becoming a better version of me!

Wisdom in an app. Some of the meditations in TenPercent have helped me view my life and whatever I was experiencing from a new angle, something that is truly priceless to have, especially when you are going through times or have a less good day. I couldn’t recommend the app more and it stands out from other meditation apps in the quality of the teachers, an opportunity to connect directly with someone for support and specials.

Love this app!. I love the short video intros and guided meditations. Despite trying to meditate many times over the years, and trying many meditation apps, I have never been able to get past day 1. With this app I’ve meditated every day since downloading it and I’m really enjoying the structure of the lessons. It’s super clean and easy to use. I’ll be purchasing the paid subs - it’s worth it.

Look no further!!. This app is absolutely awesome. Finally an app that teaches & motivates at the same time. As a beginner I really wanted to start meditating & wanted to know how to do it properly. I’ve downloaded so many different types but this definitely is a stand out meditating app, worth the time & money. The guided daily sessions are really effective they really motivate me to make the time daily to meditate. I started off with the free version but after a week I’m hooked & will now definitely look into the premium!! Thank you ten percent, really have changed my life!

Genuinely helpful. I’ve just ticked over 50 days of using this wonderful resource. I really enjoy the depth and variety of the videos and meditation experiences, and then practising in my daily life, which is the game changer for me. I purchased this app on the recommendation of a good friend, it’s the most expensive one that I’ve ever bought, but worth every cent! 😊 My sincere thanks and gratitude to the crew that put it together 🙏

So glad I found it. This app is what I have been wanting and needing for a very long time. So much to choose from and so much information. I love that the presenters are so individual in style. For the fist time out of all my attempts at meditation I feel like I am doing ok with the reassurance and support that is provided around not having to “do it just right” just to do it and keep on practising.

Daily meditation. I am particularly enjoying the routine of opening the app each day and finding a meditation pop up. A lot of the time it is the one that resonates with me for that day. I find it motivational to open the app and see what today’s meditation is. Thanks, Wendy 🧘‍♀️

Essential - Persevere and see what happens. Keep persevering - once you get into the lessons, listen to the teachers (I especially LOVE Joseph’s clarity and wisdom and subtle humour) and get a feel for what mindfulness is and is not, and gain a little bit of control over your mind - you will see the value. In simplest terms, I’ve been able to de stress in 10 minutes from stress that would usually be with me right until bed. In my experience you practice acceptance and openness and mindfulness and the stress naturally goes, don’t chase the stress free state or you’ll twist yourself up further. Get premium. Buyer Beware!!!. If you start the free trial of this app and don’t cancel it within the month you WILL be charged $143 for a yearly subscription! 😡 (no questions asked!) I’m sure it says this in the fine print, but all the same it’s somewhat shifty (I think) because I hadn’t used the free trial more than that first time! (And should have deleted it then!) But also had no reminder and/or wasn’t asked if (and how long) I’d like a subscription for!! Just gouged for a yearly subscription. Not happy!!!!

Best app I’ve used. Have used this app since it was released and I still use it to meditate every day. It helped me to make meditation a daily habit. I thought I’d get bored but there is plenty of variety and new courses and challenges to change it up. Love this app

Recent convert. Having listened to the podcast for a long time, I recently signed up to the ten percent app. I am pleasantly surprised how much I am learning about DOING meditation rather than just hearing about other people’s experiences. I think I needed that time and backstory to have the patience to sit and try it properly instead of adding it to my To Do list as just something else in my life. Give it a go!

More Marketing titan.... I joined the app to trial it, and was charged for an annual subscription, without any notification I discovered this three months later, and could not get a refund after contacting 10 percent and Apple, There is also no way to stop a second year from auto deducting in Apple subscription, so beware of this apps subscription policy. As I paid for it I have started using it and the content is quite nicely packaged if not very generic, it is good if you want to establish a routing and use one source, But I prefer using different pod casts and other free apps and reading material to get a more diverse variety.

One of my most powerful tools. This is a great app with a huge range of practises for meditating either as a noob or an experienced meditator. As I have progressed I’ve been excited by how useful the app is, particularly the coaching service. I hit a ceiling and wasn’t progressing and some quick tailored advice got me on track. Buy this app, use it daily and be kind to yourself.

Ethical staff. I appreciate my journey with this app. It is full of useful goodies. This app wasn't for me personally because I am Australian and have trouble finding calm with American accents. The staff were living up to the precepts of not taking what's not freely given and helped me unsubscribe gently. I am grateful for that.

A gift. I discovered 10% happier some years ago after some trial and error with other meditation app. I love it. I feel as if I have grown up under its tutorage. Now when I can hear that it might be of help to someone else I tell them about 10% happier. It’s so lovely, I have all these people thanking me and all I did was have a 10 minute conversation and send them the link.

Thankyou. Use this app daily. Thankyou Dan Harris your podcast and app courses and meditations have literally changed my life. Really appreciate the way you interview experts. Your questions are so incite full. Love the journey and your people.

No longer a sceptic!. As with anything nowadays there are so many choices that even buying a loaf of bread can be overwhelming! With meditation apps is even more complicated and advice ranges from ‘total rubbish’ to ‘delightful yo your senses’. Also there’s the scepticism... I decided on 10% Happier after listening to the podcasts as they were very cleverly done. I could not be happier - I am past 10%! The app is very well designed so that you will stick to a practice - courses, short courses, you can find daily meditation for while you’re walking, before you get out of bed etc. And the content is very agile helping you cope with COVID and now US elections. it has really helped me and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Useful. I really enjoy this app and have been using it for my second year now, one of the few things missing I feel is maybe a course or sessions aimed at families and youth, I am finding getting my son thinking mindfully is very helpful. Other than that keep up the great work.

Keeps me Grounded. I renew my subscription every year & have done for 3 years, the performance course my George Mumford was life changing for me & I listen to a sleep meditation every night without fail., highly recommend!

A seriously awesome app. I could not recommend this app more! I’ve NEVER EVER written a review for an app but this one deserves it. From the amount and variety of content to the way it is delivered is brilliant. All the meditation teachers have their own style which initially I thought would be quite annoying but it’s actually quite refreshing. I actually now meditate more than I used to because of this app!

Normally great but can’t open since last update. This is a fantastic app, however it won’t open on my phone for the last two days, coinciding with the last update? Would be grateful if you could look into it, as I very much use this to have effective sleep

Once you’ve opened the door, you don’t ever want to leave.. This the only app that I don’t question if I need when re-subscription time of year comes by. Informative and educational in an easily consumable structure. Endless knowledge and wisdom shared from so many of meditations great contemporaries. The quality of the guided meditations and surrounding conversation doesn’t waver. Wether completing a course, or getting straight into a single and specifically focused mindfulness meditation. 11/10.

Thanks team ten. I was using meth on weekends , alcohol daily and marijuana daily. One day after a big weekend I started listening to the 10 percent happier audiobook and that night started meditating. The next day I started my meditation practice. I have meditated every day since. I am 8 months sober today. I attribute my sobriety to my meditation practice. It enabled me to step back and systematically phase out my drug use. I listen to the podcast while I work. I meditate between 1 to 2 hours per day now. It was the title “ meditation for fidgety skeptics that initially drew my attention. I haven’t bought the app yet. It’s on special tonight so I am going to. I am Australian. Thanks for crossing my path. It has brought out the best in me. Every day is a conscious effort to be the best version of myself that I possibly can be . I really wish I had a way for you to see this 10 percent team. You are providing a worldwide community service. Thanks. Eternally grateful.

Ten percent. Great way to start or end your day Best Mindfulness sessions to learn how to do it and feel calmer in you day and night. Can feel improved by 10 days definitely Great sessions highly recommended I’ve done it first thing in morning or prior to sleep both effective to Declutter the mind and bring positive feelings

Life changing. After becoming very confused about which meditation type to try, I read both of Dan’s books and purchased the app. I was hesitant about spending the money but I love the app, it’s so awesome....there is so much to explore. Joseph is an amazing teacher and has really helped with some of the niggling questions I had. To have access to all this from Australia is priceless. Having on-demand meditations and teachers through the app works well for me as a mum of small children. I also recently sent a question to the coach you have access to through the app - it was a quick response and very helpful answer. Thanks Dan and team for making this accessible!

Best meditation app ever. I had tried so many apps and this one is by far the best. I’ve been on it consistently for almost two years. The podcast is aaaamazing too. 10/10

Never would I ever. I can honestly say that meditation was something that I intellectually understood and intellectually knew that it would be good for my body, mind and soul, but I thought it was reserved for people who were naturally ‘calmer’, in a ‘better place’ and just generally more ‘yogi’ than me. I have never ever been so happy to be wrong! Thank you. Thank you for helping me, it’s really as simple as that. You are genuinely doing the Divine’s work, however it is that you resonate with the Divine, at the end of the day it’s all one love and all one wonderful energy and you are sharing it. Kudos!

Coherent curated instruction, and well designed and reliable app. A great and coherent set of guided meditations, informative podcasts - well curated and well recorded. The app is easy and reliable to use - providing an anchor and some glimpses of peace and equanimity day to day

Peace in my pocket. What I love about this app is that no matter how I’m feeling or what mood my day is taking there’s is a meditation to fit. Wide variety of topics and teachers - and they are all so good. Having access to so much wisdom and compassion on call is such a treat it’s like having I a slice of peace in my pocket. I mediate most days but when I have fallen off the wagon or am feeling overwhelmed just remembering TPH is there as my go-to has made a big difference to how I manage those tough days.

Highly Recommend. Great app - the courses have been so helpful and perfect for beginner to advanced. It gently eases you into meditation and is supportive of any skill level. Podcast are great too and all of the guests/ meditators/ mentors. Something for everyone. I’ve personally found it life changing, works for me!

100% Love This App!. I’d been dipping in and out of meditation for awhile (mostly out), then I found this app and it changed everything for me! Now I look forward to the next session! So many great classes. I love Sharon Salzburg, her explanations make so much sense. And I love love love the little chats that Dan has with the expert before each session. I seriously can’t find anything to fault this app with, except that I didn’t discover it earlier... but alas, that fault lies with me!

Very disappointed in support response. Have contact support twice. No acknowledgement, thus no help. Very disappointed and feel maybe I can get someone’s attention by rating and providing feedback here! This app is great. Support needs support!

Great doorway to meditation and user friendly. I recommend this app to my friends, family and patients. I also love listening to the podcast as an adjunct. This app offers the best quality teachers and teachings, and being able to take a course and work towards a certain theme of goal or topic is unique and really satisfying. I enjoy the humour that is also interwoven into some of the series. Thankyou so much!

Great App. I dip in and out of this app but want to be more consistent with my practise. The Practitioners are all great and encouraging as you are guided through a session of varying lengths. The philosophy and science discussed is interesting and underpins the many benefits of mindfulness practise. The Podcasts are also very useful and thought provoking. A definite thumbs up from me and a five star rating.

Great app. I’m relatively new to mindfulness mediation and decided to try this app after reading about it in the book, “My Year of Living Mindfully”. I’m really enjoying the app and use it daily. I love how you can choose to do courses and work your way through lessons and short meditations, it’s great especially if your new to meditation. A little pricey but I think this is a great app.

This app is AMAZING. This is a life changing app. I’ve always been off and on with mindfulness, to the torment of me and those around me. Since downloading and following and committing to this app I’m a new person. The quality of the teachers really shines through. It is the most valuable 80 dollars I’ve ever spent. It’s so comforting and also funny to realise that all our brains wander off in the same ways. This app does a great job of foreseeing that and gently bringing you back. AMAZING

This app is my best friend!. I enjoy and value 10% happier app and currently I am using it every day. It took me a while to build up a relationship with it. I never meditated in my life, a friend recommended me, I started listening Sleeping meditation few times a week, concurrently every night before going to bed. Starting to feel calm, non reactive, friendly and nice to people around me the next day, motivated me to try listening other meditations on the app. Short after, I progressed to listening the podcast and I am loving it. Now, it is my best friend, available 24/7, that I can connect anytime, when I am happy or sad, when I am angry or calm or whenever I just want to connect with my own self. Absolutely Love It!!!

Very well taught and explained. I fell in love with this app after reading the Meditation for fidgety skeptics book, it really helped me understand meditation and the ways in which it can be practised. Since reading the book I have been using the app almost everyday to meditate. There is a lot of variety with amazing teachers to guide you through. I find that all the teachers describe meditation in there own way and you can find your favourite type of teacher. This app makes meditation approachable, easy to understand, and helps me see benefits outside of my practise. The premium is a great option if you are looking to learn more about meditation and the benefits it can offer. I am slowly making my way through all the courses and gaining new insights along the way. 10 out of 10 would recommend

Nice app. Very good app for meditation

Lifelong Happiness. This is one thing you will never regret doing. Take 10 minutes for yourself daily. It’s the only miracle you can earn…10 minutes at a time.

Amazing App. I’ve been following Ten Percent Happier and Dan’s work for years but using the app for roughly two years now. I meditate daily and the guided meditations are a great way to set the tone for my day. Dan’s podcasts are truly unique as he features a wide range of experienced meditators, members of academia, delves deep into the neuroscience behind human behaviour and the benefits of meditation as well as sparks excellent conversations regarding all things life-related.

Top Rated. Best tool I’ve used in my life, ever! It’s reliable, trustworthy and my go to place for serenity. Absolutely love it.

Merci. Il il serait intéressant d’avoir le contenu en français. Merci

Me & TPH. TPH is a steady resource of good practice, wise counsel, mind-opening ideas, conversations you are lucky to be ‘part of,’ tons of humour, and unfailing honesty. I would be lost without it.

Good for a beginner!. I like the balance between serious and irreverence. Don’t need to get all woo-woo to engage with meditation, the way Dan does it.

Great job!. I have been using this app for over two years and it is wonderful! Keep up the amazing work!

It’s become 90% crappier. Have used this app for years and loved it, but there’s definitely a shelf life. TPH is focusing more on becoming a media company, with podcasts, long articles and newsletters and now seldom offers new content to the app. The challenges are for the most part recycled content from years past, and weeks go by without new meditations. Such a shame that they’ve lost sight of the core product while still charging users for it.

First app that I actually like use!. Finally, taking the time to write a review after using this app for more than six months. I can’t say enough about all of the content provided on this app; from courses to single meditation of all kinds by various teachers to podcasts that you can listen to ahead of time and with no ads, this app covers a lot. The effort that they put into researching their guests and trying to find relevant and up-to-date content about health, meditation, aa well as different ways of looking at health and well-being is very impressive. I like that there are recurring guests as you get to know their style and their teaching and it reinforces your previous learnings. I have started to meditate and this apps tracks the minutes and days so it’s really motivating to see your progress. I also love that you can customize meditation session from 5 to 45 minutes and you have different meditation styles and topics so there’s always something you can find that’ll fit your mood or state of mind. This is one of the best investment I’ve ever made in my health.

Life changing. I’ve been using this app for about 4 years and it has truly helped set me on a journey to deeper self-knowledge. The teachers, guided meditations, and podcast content are inspiring, practical, and deeply useful to the project of becoming a better human. I am grateful to have Ten Percent Happier in my life.

So many options.. Terrific selection of different meditations addressing an assortment of needs

A great resource to get you meditating!. I have dabbled in meditation and finally decided to take the bull by the horns. I got the book and the app to support the habit I wanted to have. Having a bank of experts at your disposal gives you a better shot at changing your own behaviour. If this improves your mental and physical health and makes you a better person with other people then this is priceless. It’s not hokey and it makes you think - if you are open minded and willing to challenge the norms - and yourself! A fantastic app!

Doesn’t work after update!. Hey 10% you updated your app and I can’t use it. It’s messing up my zen and I pay for this. Fix this before I get 10% more upset!

Best meditation app out there. I love Dan and his team! This app is accessible and a total game changer!!! Changed my life!!!!!

Perfect. I have been a long time meditator, began with TM in my university days, moved to insight meditation, and tried a variety of other models. What I enjoyed about this app is the soothing calming voice, the gentle instruction, and the shortness of the meditation and yet getting a full benefit of meditation similar to sitting for an hour. I highly recommend this meditation app for either novice, or someone who’s been meditating for years like myself. Be well.

Commercialized. This app/Ten Percent platform has come to feels more and more like a commercialized platform. I recommend the Healthy Minds app. It’s free and you won’t feel like there is a venture capital monetizing your wellness behind the scenes.

10 Percent changed my mind.. This app is a powerful tool to gain and maintain the upper hand in being mindful.

Anxiety. I clicked on the free trial and was charged for a years worth of the app out of my bank account. 😫

J’adore!. J’adore cette application. Depuis plusieurs années j’en bénéficie. J’aime les retraites/challenges. Par dessus tout, j’apprécie les méditations « daily dose » car elles me font découvrir de belles surprises.

Hello meditation, my old friend, I’ve come to talk to you again....... I have always enjoyed meditating but have recently fallen off the wagon. It is wonderful to be back on; to get back into the zone, to feel the peace I receive from the practice. I just wish I could hold onto that peace a bit longer. The Buddha speaks of impermanence by teaching us not to grasp on to a feeling but rather to feel it, enjoy it, love it and then let it go. I am trying . It is a process. Thanks for offering this meditation challenge. I am enjoying it immensely. Namaste.

Mindfulness in very practical ways. I discovered this app through the Ten Percent Happier Podcast. I have been meditating on and off for the past 9 years but what I love most about this app is just the practicality of it - how to apply the teachings into our daily lives. Love it!

Money. Only concerned with billing you

366 Days & Counting. Love the courses where you learn & meditate. The videos are engaging and the questions keep it real. So much choice in the teachers, type of meditation and subject matter. First practice where I have been so consistent. Appreciate that there is no time pressure (even a minute is enough) and that the team values feedback.

Dry Basic Guided Meditations. having been meditating for a year, after a month of trying this app I can say their guided meditations are really not for me. It’s like they’re trying to teach meditation to robots. even their more advanced sessions have the same quality. the “best” of their teachers speak in a highly intellectual tone making it very difficult to delve deeper with a soft focus. perhaps only good for skeptics who want a more rational twist to meditation. even tho I do care about managing my day to day tasks, stress and improving performance, meditation for me remains a highly spiritual practice, one that opens up my mind to otherworldliness, and this app just does not cultivate that.

Splendid. Jolly good

Mindfulness Gem. The things I’ve learned from this podcast center rd on Buddhism have enhanced my life - it has all the bells and whistles of greatness. The host (Dan Harris), the guests, the topics, are all top drawer. I’ve been introduced to wise teachers who offer at times inscrutable knowledge which Dan then renders relatable. This show creates glorious rabbit holes of follow up reading for me as well.

Very well designed app. Intuitive

Good stuff. Love the app, been using it for over 4 years really. Not a fan of the new design within the app though won’t remove stars for it.

Great app for beginners. As I advance in my meditation practice I am finding it less useful. Hopefully they include more advanced meditations and less celebrity interviews. More teacher talks would be good and more guided meditations where the guide says little.

Amazing. Inspiration, Hope and peace. What more can one ask for. Thank you.

Awesome. Loads of guided meditation and learning material, great for skeptics/beginners.

Too expensive. Make it $5 a month with monthly subscription.

10% less happy or more. The meditations and the courses are great for beginners and unbelievers. The recent changes to the app, however, make it unreadable. The have changed it to grainy gradient colour backgrounds which make it extremely hard to read the white text. Good luck trying to determine if that course or meditation is for you. Not friendly to even moderately visually challenged (ie: anyone over 50). If this app is aimed at only those under 50 then they've reached the target market and us older folks will find something that let's us see it before we select it. Change for changes sake didn't improve functionality here - instead it took it away.

Excellent. Free, no ads, multiple meditations and lessons. With top experts.

Great meditation exercises. Very instructive, stimulating, and accessible courses on a wide variety of topics.

Where were you all my life?. I wanted to meditate but it never felt quite right. At times, it would make me feel more anxious or I would get overwhelmed by my emotions as I would meditate into it. The Emotions course is a life changer to me. I strongly recommend it or any other course really. Also, I feel somewhat supported on my journey of meditation because there is a guided meditation almost every step of the way. Thank you so much.

I’d love to carry on. I would love to carry on with the practice as it’s laid out here. The free section was great. It is a well organized approach to starting a mindfulness practice. The cost of the yearly subscription is too much for my current budget though.

Disappointed. I have been waiting for the right moment to start the series - it’s taken weeks. I did first lesson. Nice. Then ... with frustration discovered there is nothing free about the app. False marketing! You get 7 free days if you sign up for a $120/year. Soooo disappointed.

Game Changer for me. Like Dan Harris I had major apprehension about all the wannabe coaches and mediation experts who all seem to dress the same for some odd reason. This is presented in a true easy to understand fashion that makes meditation easy for those like me that were skeptics at first. It has really helped me especially by being much more aware and mindful.

Excellent and keeps improving. This app continues to grow while keeping its original caring orientation. Excellent and caring customer support.

$125??. 7 day free trial then $125 for a year... after you put all your information in of course. Deleted right away. Try ISHA CHANTS and Sadhguru, they’re actually free.

Learn something new Everyday!. I worked for many years in a place with a huge cognitive load so we always tried to learn something new everyday that was not only about our work. I no longer work there and have moved across the country. This app is amazing for learning something new everyday ! Amazing guests & Dan is funny! ❤️

Great App. If you want a straight forward, down to earth, no fluff meditation experience then this is the app for you. Also, the podcasts alone are worth the price.

This app will change you for the better. I am a recovering perfectionist. This app has been so incredibly useful in changing how I relate to my life. It has brought so much peace to my relationship with myself and others. I sleep so much better too. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for more peace, love and acceptance in their life.

Complement. Finished the book. Downloaded app. Loved the former. Loving the latter. From cynic to believing. My only disappointment will be when Dan Harris doesn’t show to have a beer and congratulate me.

So Much More Than A Meditation App. This app is for everyone no matter where you are in your meditation journey. It gives you insight into the who, where and why’s of meditation while nudging you along in your own personal journey. I highly recommend it. I am a woman in my 70’s who has really never ventured down this road before and am loving it. This is my 2nd year on the app and look forward to many more. Bravo to Dan and everything about him and his vulnerability to share his journey with us.

A lifelong skeptic....blown away by its simplicity. The short review of this... and why this is effective is that they were able to explain to me in the process of 5-10 min how silent meditation works, and why it’s ok to not be good at it and how to get something out of not being good at it. Really has made a huge difference to me, and I can’t say enough good things about embracing meditation, even if you’re not good or comfortable with it. Follow the teachings, and you’ll learn something.

A resistant skeptic turned believer. After years of serious resistance to meditation yet believing in the science and benefits, I read Meditation for the Fidgety Skeptic. It spoke to me in a way that this skeptic, resistant, driven, career minded, fast paced, girl could hear. Then I bought the app. I have practiced daily, sometimes several times a day and the benefits have already completely changed my life. I feel calm, centered, sharp, and more resilient than I ever have. I feel like I can see my emotions and thoughts rather than be controlled by them. I am very new at the practice but so thankful. Jeff Warren’s meditations especially connect with me. I also love the vulnerability that Dan Harris expresses in each video. It made my thoughts seem normal too. Dan made me feel like I could succeed at this practice too. This is the best app. Give it a try.

The app is saving my life.... Things have felt out of control for while due to the stress of work and personal situations to the point that it felt as if a large weight was on my chest. Despite having the desire to make changes including using meditation as an aid, I just couldn’t find something that would work for me. But then I found this app... I’m only day three, I was hit with the news that my job was being eliminated. While still being a stressful situation, the lessons and techniques that this app has provided has been a blessing in helping to deal with the new stress along with everything else. Am I “cured”? No, but there’s a new sense of calm that I didn’t have even before receiving the lay-off notification. I see some reviewers complaint about the $100 yearly fee and yes, I can appreciate that it’s a lot of money. However, this is a true investment in one’s self. If I am calmer, more focused, happier, more responsive and less reactionary, don’t you think that I’ll be in a position for a better and more prosperous life? Even more than beyond money? I love that this app is customized for the user intended for busy people who may not have any meditation experience. Thank you Dan Harris and Joseph Goldstein for providing such an amazing tool. This has been a true game changer in helping to create a better quality of life.

Finally started. After having meditation on my “to do” list for several years now, waiting for the time, for retirement, for when I get my “act” together, etc. I finally began! I wasn’t perfect doing the challenge, but because of the challenge, Dan, & 10% Happier, I can’t believe I’m already more present during the day. I’m more peaceful, and reaching other aspirations as well. Example: practicing piano with someone else in the house - or room - and being ok with that. That is huge! And deciding that every other week for a lesson works for me better than weekly & being stressed about it. (I just recently started lessons again after years of not “giving myself permission “ to play (to succeed - or to learn slower than I would like). Now that my fear is starting to subside, I am not only hearing my progress, but am happier. 10% happier! 😊 Thank-you for being so chill!

Best Meditation App!. I’ve tried them all, and this is my favorite. It shares many of the virtues of other apps, but it adds a few features that set it apart: (1) It offers specific guided meditations from specific teachers of various lengths, e.g., you can decide whether to use Joseph Goldstein’s open awareness guide for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 ... up to 60 minutes; (2) it offers quick video interviews to set up many of the guided meditations, to help you understand the framework for the guide itself; and (3) it manages to present a lot of options in little packages, so that the user doesn’t feel overwhelmed by the number of options. Not to mention world class instructors, and the host’s unique knack for branding mindfulness in ways that are relevant to modern life, without compromising on the finer points. Pairs wonderfully with the two books by Dan Harris.

New to Meditation. I’ve tried many other mediation apps in the past and none of them have explained meditation as well as 10% Happier. As I went through the Basics series every time I had a question pop up about meditation it seemed like it was answered in the next video or so. I also love the variety of teachers in this app. Their range of voices and teaching styles is perfect. I frequently use the anxiety meditations I have bookmarked. Thanks to the coverage of this topic, I am learning how to quickly redirect my thoughts and know what to focus on besides my breath (when I’m close to a panic attack focusing on the breath is the opposite of what I should do). A sincere thanks to the entire team at 10% Happier for building this app into what it is today! I hope I get to meet one of the wonderful teachers from this app one day 😊

Best Meditation App, Hands Down!. I have been meditating for about three years, and in that time I have used several different apps for guided mediations. This is one is by far the best. What’s great is that there are many different teachers, and each “course” has a mini training video before the mediation. If you want to learn as much as possible about different techniques and uses for meditation, this is your app. There is also a personal coach that you can message with when you have questions. To my knowledge there isn’t any other app out there that offers that. The app also pairs well with the 10% Happier podcast and books. Dan Harris has done so much to bring meditation to the western secular world, he has made it accessible to anyone, no matter what your belief system or lack of one. Thank you Dan and the 10% Happier team! It has certainly been a huge blessing in my life!!

One year and more without counting sheep. I have used the getting to sleep meditations almost every night for more than a year. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis so relaxing and getting a good nights sleep is vital. With a wealth of getting to sleep meditations I can pick the one that seems most appropriate to the moment. I’ve got several go-to favorites—one moves your mind and body through relaxing almost joint be joint from your toes to head and another helps you visualize and feel floating on a raft on a gentle river... I’ve also worked my way through the courses, doing most of them several times. I particularly liked the one on managing bad or mindless habits—that one I’ve done a lot and continue to learn 🥴! Even though I’ve used this app for over a year, I continue to discover new and amazing guided meditations every time I go looking. Thank you all for developing this tool and for continuing to develop it and for adding to its content on a regular basis.

Best app of its kind. Over the past five or so years, I’ve read a ton of books on meditation and mindfulness, but this app is the way I structure my regular practice. It’s so practical, all the guided meditations are led by fantastic people, and it meets you where you are. I especially love the basics and common questions courses to gain a solid foundation, but I’ve done probably 80% of the courses and they’re all fantastic. My only complaint is that you can only share you progress with friends and see their progress during challenges. I want this feature all the time as I have a few people in my life who also use the app and it’s helpful to hold one another accountable (in a healthy and empathetic way). Keep up the great work, and thanks for helping make my meditation practice a success!

The Best meditation learning app. I love ten percent happier app. It has brought enormous positive change in me. I read 10 percent happier book first and then started using the app. I have tried many meditation apps. Ten percent happier is my favorite. There are many Teachers and they are great. You learn different techniques and view points from them. The talks section is very useful to help put me in good mind state and keep connected with meditation practice. Overall, I feel that this app will bring great positive change in anyone seeking to learn and do meditation. You still need to stick to practice of meditation. This app makes it easy to stick to practice any provides excellent guidance from the best meditation teachers. Finally, my great thanks to Dan Harris for his great work in bringing this wonderfully resource to us.

New look is not good. Longtime user and subscriber here... The newly redone UI really irks me. Whereas they used to display photos of the teachers to represent each meditation or course, which felt more personal, they now display these really cheesy generic stock-photo looking images. The colors and shapes are now very soft - it feels like the design aesthetic of a child’s bedroom rather than a serious meditation app. Hard to explain, because I know it’s just visual packaging rather than content, but it just feels like this app is no longer for me. Also the sheer variety of meditations available is both good and bad. I loved Joseph Goldstein and Sharon Salzberg’s courses, but it’s not easy to figure out where to go next. Too many options feels overwhelming, which is the opposite of how I want to feel when I turn to a meditation app. Variety is nice to break up the monotony, but mostly I want a stable, consistent routine to help me master the basics.

Meaningful and helpful. This app and related book have been extremely helpful to me and some friends to explore our view of ourselves and our relations with others. The structure of the sessions with a video discussion and then a meditation that I can watch and rewatch is great as I consider and reconsider the meaning of what is being said. I really appreciate how Dan plays the skeptic and the role of the learner when talking with the teachers. So far Dan’s class-sessions with Joseph and Oren have been the most helpful for my needs. I like that Oren’s models offer hooks or a framework to hold onto and integrate the ideas into practice. I appreciate that there are various models and approaches to explore and consider related to an underlying philosophy rather than dogmatic or strict rules. Thank you all for sharing these insights with this tool. It has been very helpful to me .

“Too many mind”. “Too many mind” is something that was said in The Last Samurai. I always remember it whenever I think of mindfulness. I begin to realize that I am plagued by the “too many mind” way of living. I forget to actually breath or better yet to just be. Say goodbye to “too many mind” and say hello to the gift that is mindfulness and inner peace. The key is to try, mindfulness won’t happen on its own. This app is not just an app it’s a library of wisdom at your fingertips. Much like an actual library there are many different sections, all of which are easy to get lost in. You may find yourself in a section you never thought you’d be interested in but your curiosity gets the best of you. 10% Happier is a wonderful tool for every age, occupation or philosophy to bring you more in tune with your mind and body.

Helped me a lot. I have dabbled with meditation for years and considered apps many times. I stumbled across 10% Happier when it was on sale, and decided to give it a shot during a stressful time in my life. Glad I did. Dan Harris, who wrote a book of the same name and hosts much of this app (seems to be the founder, if you will), has an approach and has had experiences like mine, in that he has a stressful job and need to respond better to the many inputs he was receiving. The app, and the book approach everything about meditation from a skeptic's viewpoint. As I would. He also brings a lot of teaching to the table, by scientists, teachers, gurus, and a host of others. There are hundreds of guided meditation and learning moments. For a host of ailments brought to you by the modern world. I have found a lit of benefits here and am forever grateful. I didn't expect this, but it has been very fulfilling.

10% happier. This app changed my life. I thought I knew how to meditate from long but then on ten percent happier I learnt how to meditate, to be mindful, to listen to myself. It has been a beautiful last couple of years. I would have rated 5 but for one issue in the app which I feel is simple but hasn't been addressed till date. When I am in the midst of meditation if I receive a call or a notification ( this morning I got one from Airbnb) the app stops working. You could be in the midst or end of a meditation but the app decides to stop and that isn't ok . I find this weird, isn't the purpose of mediation not to get distracted but keep going in reality? I use wimhof app and that works beautifully. I wish 10 percent happier could do that someday.

I feel like I won the jackpot. The people that offer guidance on this app are the preeminent teachers of meditation in the western world. I started out meditating years ago under the guidance of Joseph Goldstein and his colleagues, and I’ve been chasing that kind of eloquence and help ever since. I can’t believe it’s here on an app. Not only have I been able to restart a practice that’s languished, I feel like I learn something every time I use it. The gradual immersion, the little encouragements, Dan Harris’s role as our skeptical surrogate - it all works beautifully. The gamification stuff (like counting a streak) actually helps, too. Thank you, Dan Harris and 10 percenters. P.s. those stock photos on the app (they are, aren’t they?) made me think this was another bunch of New Age Andean flute music. I am so glad I ignored that and dived in.

10% Happier is 200% awesome!. The books, app, and podcast are all incredible aids in the work to reduce stress, distraction, want, and dwelling. What the world needs more than anything to address the personal, community, societal and planetary problems os focus and resilience. This app (and the books and podcast) have flipped my perspective from associating meditation with “woo woo” (you really don't’ have to believe anything because like exercise this is skill building through habits and behavior). I can say without reservation I am a better Dad, husband and human being because 10% happier is a part of my life. To be clear, this is not a quick fix nor a magic pill in the same way you can’t be physically fit overnight when you don’t take care of your body consistently. If you make this a part of your routine (as Dan says “daily’ish”) it will help “brush” and “floss” your brain like you tale care of your dental hygiene each day. The one thing that really separates this app from all others are the instructors. I have used Calm, Headspace, Insight Timer and taken classes but the people who lead these meditations (and Dan has on the podcasts) offer so much perspective on the obstacles and opportunities as well as giving kind, gentle, direct advice for how to get the most from the practice. I am grateful to them all!

Life Changing. I was so hesitant to start meditating but after seeing very significant changes in so many people I know, I wanted to explore it. This app has so many amazing instructors and so many practice options when it comes to time, what one wants to meditate about, etc. There are even 2 minute sessions for when you don’t feel like you have time! I have been meditating weekly for almost a year now and even with skipping days here and there, I am beginning to notice these small changes on how I perceive and react to things. I honestly can feel my brain changing! I would recommend this app to anyone! Dan Harris also guides a few sessions and you can also ask a personal meditation coach questions and they message you back within a day! It’s a liberating app and it’s been crucial to my self care routine. I’m beyond grateful for it!

A very good variety, even if you can’t afford the subscription. So I am using what is available for free. One of the problems I see with similar apps is how very little you get unless you pay for a subscription. And for many of us who can’t afford it or do not want another subscription, you are given very slim pickings. I have found that 10 percent happier is very generous. You have at least 20 (maybe 30 meditations) you can choose from for free, at varying lengths of times—which is perfect for those with busy lives or short attention spans (especially beginners). They also do have longer mediations or light/no guidance ones available for free. I do wish we had more than one sleep meditation available, and I am not sure how to feel about putting the 2021 meditations behind a paywall after letting people listen to them for free for a short time. But otherwise? This is a good service and great meditation device that is perfect for young and old folks alike. I hope you continue this nice balance of variety of free/paid meditations. Although, for future consideration, I would like it if we can instead sample a meditation and then pay for it without paying a subscription.

I really like this app. The app is very much in alignment with Dan Harris’ books on the topic in philosophy and approach; if you’ve enjoyed them you’re probably going to like the app a lot. I’m a beginning meditator, and am finding the sessions to be clear, positive and encouraging - and the coaches are all great. There are courses dealing with many of the things that beset us in life, and a number of shorter sessions as well. The one thing that I wish was added is a continuing refresh of additional 1 minute meditations. It’s a very stealthy - and successful- approach to luring you into another 5-10 minutes of meditating. BTW, I think the style of coaches is really important. I’ve been using the Calm app - for sleep stories - but am unable to use most of their meditation sessions; I’m so put off by most of the meditation coaches’ intonation - the breathy ‘I’m smiling beatifically from my trip to the ashram’ kind of voice. I know I should be more accepting, but I just start gritting my teeth. The one exception was Jeff Warren, who’s terrific - and he’s on the 10 app as well. I actually signed up for 10 app partly because he’s one of the coaches. I was really pleased to find that all of the coaches bring a sense of being kind, supportive and pretty grounded in the real world. Overall, it’s very worthwhile.

Unsure if content works. I just downloaded this to check it out. What it isn’t saying in the advertising above is that much of the content is locked unless you subscribe to their service for $100/ year. I just poked around and watched the free stuff it makes sense and it helps a bit. However I get busy, I am a factory worker who works a 12 hour swing shift so I don’t have a set time each and every day I can sit and meditate. On another note I didn’t poke about enough to know if there is a monthly option but to (sell) happiness for $100 a year is a bit steep for someone who makes less than 30k a year and has average expenses. Also seems like a waste of money for someone like me who won’t be able to find the time to use the app daily, weekly, and in some cases monthly to get their money’s worth back in content viewership.

Wow. So easy!. I’m fairly new to meditation and have tried different guided meditations in the past. But this app is by far the best I’ve seen. It lays it all out for you, and actually teaches you how to do what you’re supposed to be doing and, maybe more importantly, the reason behind what we’re doing. I’ve only gotten through the basics course, but so far I’ve been able to get a couple of sessions in each day when I only have a minute or 2. It’s really helped me to be more calm and mindful of how I’m feeling when I’m stressed. The introduction videos to each session is made for everyday people...injected with real-life examples and a bit of humor. I can totally relate to them. I’m definitely going to be purchasing the full-version to get the most benefit. I’m really looking forward to seeing the rewards meditation has to offer.

Extremely helpful. I live alone and look forward to your talks and meditation teachers. It helps me to live in the present with hope and faith. Also a reminder of gratitude for every day. And I also believe this has happened for a reason and hopefully we can reboot our Mother Earth. Thank you very much for what you are doing 🙏 Again I enjoy the meditations and the teachers who teach and guide us. I would greatly like new meditations like we have new pod casts from different authors. The meditations have helped me tremendously to be able to be calm in certain situations more so on a daily basis. I find I do not get so upset when I’m in traffic for example or if something spills or gets broken. i also see that i work hard at becoming a better listener.

Very helpful and life changing!. I've been using the 10% Happier app for about 6 months now and it's been fantastic. I'm beyond happy with it and it's really helped me get out of my head and learn how to control my emotions. Even when I fall of the meditation wagon, it's always there when I need to come back. As someone that suffers from anxiety and depression, it has helped LOADS when I feel like things are too overwhelming and I'm losing control. It's helped me learn that when things get like that, the one thing I can control is my breathing. I have recommended this app to many people because I want it to help them as much as it has helped me. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of those who make this app possible, especially Dan Harris and Joseph Goldstein. Best money I've ever spent to invest in a healthier mind and being.

An Essential Tool. This app, along with the podcast, clarifies what it means to meditate and why you should. There are so many misconceptions out there. You won’t stick with a lifestyle change if your expectations of what it is and what it does are skewed. I’ve tried meditation countless times over the past decade, but never stuck with it more than a few days. Thanks largely because of the easy to understand courses in 10% Happier and podcast episodes, I’ve meditated daily for the past 6 months. My life has totally changed as a result. I’m way more than 10% happier. Also, the teachers offered through the app are amazing. They give sincere, thoughtful, easy to understand answers to all of your questions. They’re an invaluable resource. Thank you so much to all who are involved in creating and maintaining 10% Happier. You are doing so much good 🙏🏻

A wrench for every nut. There’s a saying in a group I’m in that there is a wrench for every nut, simply to say that there is something here for everyone, no matter who you are or what is going on. Here, there is such a wide collection of topics, teaching and leading styles, etc., that it is easy for me to go into this collection and find many things that address exactly where I am and what I need. The generosity of spirit involved in all who teach here is infectious and the spirit of the instruction makes something that feels so elusive to so many, feel so accessible and within reach, especially in the moment, and in the moment is where I want to be. Thank you for making these teachings so user friendly and making the notion of inner peace only a breath away. Plus, Dan Harris is my hero.

Best meditation guidance App Ever!!. I’ve been a regular subscriber to this outstanding meditation app since before the COVID pandemic began. I continue to enjoy and benefit from having easy access to listen and learn from numerous competent, compassionate meditation teachers and clinical psychologists. They provide tremendous insights on how the practice of meditation will change your life for the better. The practice has helped create more awareness and “stillness” in my overly-active mind. I am a high-strung ‘Type A’ woman in my late 60’s who has struggled with anxiety, fear and insecurity for years, despite having a successful, rewarding career in healthcare diagnostics, a safe, wonderful home environment and many dear family and friends who love and support me. Thank you, Dan Harris and all who have joined you on this learning journey called “life”, for sharing your wisdom and meditative insights with us!

Great!. I’ve used two other meditation apps but I’ve had this one for almost 3 years and like it the most. This one offers everything and helps you stay accountable too. It offers basic instruction and daily meditations grouped by topic or teacher. It offers great sleep meditations. Then, it tackles topics of interest with more focused courses. These involve some short instruction/discussion w/ an expert followed by a brief meditation. Last, as new topics of interest come up, they’ll put out new ‘meditation challenges’ which are essentially courses that are happening current day for you to get some brief instruction or information from an expert, followed by a guided meditation. I think there is even more I’ve missed because I haven’t tried everything yet and I’ve had the app for a while!

Pretty good meditation app. In searching for a meditation app, I felt a little overwhelmed by all the choices. I settled on this and find it to be pretty good. It’s not a whole of fun - kind of bare bones, but there are new meditations added all the time. I feel like compared to other apps, they do have a pretty good range of meditations, with different people presenting them, so that you can usually find some thing that’s at least pretty close to what you were looking for. I’ve tried headspace and also calm, both of those have a ton more graphics. Heads faces are cute and fun, and calm’s are peaceful and calming. This app really doesn’t have any of that, but I still like the meditations. They have a good selection of them and overall this is a good app that I return to frequently.

It’s a life saver.. I am so thankful for this amazing app, the access to coaches like Liz and the content, which is kept fresh and is easy to connect with. My life has been extremely hard as of late, and it always seems that there is a meditation that addresses exactly how I’m feeling that day. The new meditations from Dan and Jeff are perfect. The forgiveness meditation with Jeff allowed me to connect with my heart on a deep level, release the stagnant energy, and fill the void with light. A few months ago, before the new update, I was wishing for brief descriptions of the meditations somewhere, anywhere, so I could preview “the vibe”. Low and behold, it was fixed. My other wish? For more content with Jeff, which always was delivered. I was so hesitant to purchase a subscription, as cost is always a factor for me, but I am so very glad I did. Thank you, all of you at 10% Happier, for the guidance I needed to reclaim my emotions.

Great content and no search feature. 6/5/19 Updating my previous review. The search feature is gone again, you need to scroll through tons of meditations to find what you want. Although in the “ Whats new” section there is note stating they are bringing the search feature back, and that you just need to scroll to the bottom of single courses to find it, it has two seriously frustrating issues: one is that there is no search feature that I can find, two, WHY in the world would the search feature be placed at the bottom, forcing people to scroll down pages and pages and pages of single meditations? It defeats the purpose of having a search feature! Its one of the if not the the most important features in an app, to actually easily find what you want. Love the content. Previous review Updating my previous review, where my only, albeit extremely frustrating issue with the app was the difficult cluttered interface. The app always had wonderful content, but finding my favorite simple meditations was... just excruciatingly complicated. That has ALL changed! Meditations can be searched now, and in various ways. The new improvements make this app an absolute and perfect gem. I loved the content from the get go but now I love the app, too, so this became my go to app now. Do yourself and those around you a favor and give this app a go!

Practical wisdom for our real lives. After having been on another meditation app for years, one that is highly specialized and led also by one man with his curated and very sophisticated (and not diverse at all till recently) meditation teachers and conversations, I find Ten Percent more practical, more about my real life and what I encounter daily. Super grateful for such diverse experts and voices (not the same teacher leading the majority of the meditations), for the science based perspectives, for the accessibility. If I want to go back to geeking out about nondualism and the varied doctrines and schools of Buddhist thought, which is also fascinating, I think there are also ample opportunities out there but to pay for an app, I need it to work in my life. Really enjoying this app. Thank you!!

TPH made a huge difference for me. Like Dan Harris, I recoil at touchy-feely stuff. I’ve make my living in and around government and politics—including serving on numerous campaign staffs. Just like journalism, you don’t find a lot of touchy-feely folks in the political world. So I’m still surprised to see on my TPH pages that I’ve logged over 1,000 mindfulness sessions over 543 days in the last three years. While the results of all that show up gradually, it turns out I’m convinced that I’m a noticeably better husband, father, friend, and colleague than I was before TPH. It’s also been a huge help in staying focused on what’s important in our distraction-soaked world. TPH’s down-to-earth approach includes a lot of real humor and takes itself just seriously enough. Many thanks to Dan Harris and the terrific team at TPH! Chris Dunn

Only app I’ve been able to stick with!. I’ve tried several meditation apps but after listening to Dan’s podcast, I decided to give this one a try. I myself, am very type A and the podcasts and courses in the app are very relatable. I love that different types of meditations are taught by true experts in their field and the personal coach is a nice touch! For me, other apps felt to game-like, boring, or annoying. A couple things that would be great in the app would be 1) some type of journaling feature where I could jot down or select how each meditation goes, how I felt during and afterwards, etc. and analytics / trends to see progress 2) some courses that de-mystify Buddhism (these may exist and I just haven’t gotten there) 3) an ability to check days meditated if done through a different form (e.g., a class). Not knocking down stars, just offering some ideas to the team!

And the third porridge was Juuuuust Right. Other meditation apps can seem almost mystical in nature and even though they might do you a decent job at explaining meditation to some, I just was never able to catch on or I put too much pressure on myself to be at a “monk” level. Apps like insight timer or calm just had way too much choice for me and headspace had too little. 10% does an incredible job of speaking to the laymen and connecting with me through humor. They’ve gathered a really phenomenal panel of teachers that all bring different perspectives and specialties to the table. For possibly the first time in my meditation practice in six years I actually WANT to meditate. I’m learning so much and I am so grateful to have discovered this program

Life changing. I was a skeptic but now I consider this a life changing and life affirming app. If you want to sample the quality of courses and meditations I suggest getting the free trial and start with the mindful eating and healthy habits courses/ meditations and the talk called enjoy the view and not the commentary. The sound, the video and the quality of instructors is top quality. I feel that Dan Harris curated this app out of a sincere desire help people using mindfulness in the same way that it helped him. I tried other meditation apps and they seemed to be more like entrepreneurial ventures and the experience was tepid and frivolous compared to Ten Percent. Ten Percent is the app you are looking for if you want to lose weight, get out of bad habits, reduce anxiety, and deal with stress in a healthy way. Yes, mindfulness is the key to all that and in my opinion this app is your key to mindfulness.

Life changer. I’ve tried a few other meditation apps, and I have to say this one is by far my favorite. I’ve been using it daily, and it is really changing me in ways I’d have never imagined just from using an app. The teachers are the absolute best in my opinion. I appreciate a teacher who isn’t using that weird out there tone that doesn’t come natural to human beings. I love that in doing the meditations I’m actually learning the correct way to meditate instead of just spending the entire time wondering am I doing it right. Any app that has Joseph Goldstein and Sharon Salzberg I’m going to have to stick with it. That’s not to say they are the only wonderful teachers. I have been more than pleased with every teacher so far. The courses are great too. I love that there are actually videos with the meditations, so I feel like I’m really learning something. I’ve tried courses from other apps that were just meditations, and it didn’t really feel like I was getting anything extra out of it. It’s totally worth spending the money on, and I am not a person who often pays for apps or subscriptions EVER. However, anything that’s going to change me for the better, which means making everyone around me happier, is worth my money.

Opens worlds. I cannot say enough good things about this app that introduces novices and aids intermediate and even advanced meditators. I use the 30 day guest passes in my psychiatry practice all the time to real benefit: teaching about focus, non-judgement, self and other knowledge, love, compassion. Recognizing the “golden moment” when our minds have wandered and with pleasure at awakening, going back to our intended path with resilience and patience. There cannot be a better cognitive reframe than celebrating awakening rather than cursing loss of focus! I have such gratitude for each of the teachers who carefully and compassionately introduce us to their style, ourselves, others and the world around us with tools to help us neither cling to nor cringe from the feelings and thoughts that pass. Such wisdom in a little app! Many, many thanks for your noble striving.

What a concise, beautifully done course. Thanks so much for all the variety of topics covered from so many diverse educators, and Dan Harris continues to amaze me in his genuine candor with his anxiety and perfectly said “recaps.” My hope is my husband will someday listen with me. As a former yoga teacher ( I do know a bit about Mindfulness) as well as working with the public for decades, this app is a lifesaver- one of the best I’ve ever listened to honestly. A real game changer... I am so grateful I purchased it almost two years ago, and I still listen every morning! We all need reminders to be present, to simply take a pause before we have an emotional reactions to others perspective or narrative. Ten Percent Happier - So simple and fascinating accurate-daily! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Respectfully submitted, Jennifer Richards

Unexpected results!!. I subscribed to this app in order to access Matthew Hepburn’s 20% Happier podcast. While that seems to be on hold at this time, even without it, I still feel I’ve gotten much more out of my subscription than the price of admission. This app helped to not only solidify my meditation habit, but I have found myself even meditating twice a day on many days. I also have used several of the courses that are available, including ‘Getting Unstuck’ during a period when I was stuck, and to my surprise, I was actually unstuck at the end of it! From listening to 10% Happier, I’ve developed a deeper interest in Buddhism, which is an endless source of joyful learning. Thanks, Dan Harris! And Matthew, I hope to see your show back in the future! May you all be happy and at ease!

So sustainable for me. I am so happy to say that I’ve been using this app for about 3 years on a off. I started in 2016 after my depression and anxiety got really bad and I decided I needed to do something different. I had never really meditated and wanted guidance without needing to go to a center because I can’t rely on myself to stick to that plan. I love being home and going places on the morning or after work gives me anxiety-if I have to plan on it. I found this app and the podcast and it has really been amazing for me. I have been on about a 2 year absence for daily meditation through grad school but listen to the podcast each week and it had kept me constant and I like learning about the practice. It made easing back into meditation practice very easy and enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Transformative. Found this after listening to the podcast. Wanted to adopt a new healthy habit that I can have now and take with me for the rest of my life. 10 weeks in and I am seeing and feeling the benefits. Moved from ‘doing it’ to looking forward to it each day. I enjoy the app a ton, think it is designed well, easy to navigate. I like the data points on streak, number of days. Since meditation may not be always done in the app, it would be awesome to be able to manually enter if you meditated without the app, but it is included in streak. Updated: I just found an ‘unguided’ timer that will solve for this. Sweet! Thanks for the well crafted app, the skillful and well selected teachers, and the curated courses. 5 stars!!!

Great for skeptics, new meditators; access to many well known teachers. I’m a psychotherapist and recommend meditation to virtually all of my clients and use of an app for those who are new to the practice. This app is well worth the price. I’ve grown fond of so many of the ‘teachers’ in the app. They feel like old friends I can count on any time of the day. Most all of the meditations are guided, some heavily, some less so. If you are at a place where you can just sit and meditate on your own, probably an app (or no app) like Insight Timer, is better for you. But if you’re like me and need a push/ guide this is definitely for you. I It’s helped me tremendously throughout the pandemic and I plan to continue meditating with my online teachers. Peace.

So much easy to understand wisdom. I’m about to renew for my fifth year with this app even though it’s expensive for me. It’s worth it. I love how friendly, funny, and real the teachers are. They encourage us to try their techniques for ourselves and see what works for us. There is such a wide variety of teachers that although they are teaching basically the same things, they each bring unique insights to me every time I use this app which is almost every day for 10-50 minutes, even when I’m relistening to a meditation. They are constantly adding new meditations and talks and podcasts. I have no one to meditate with unless I drive an hour, and I feel so blessed to have this app to help me grow. If I could give it 10 stars, I would!

Sadness and fear. Lost my wife almost 8 years ago. Still feel the sadness. We had such plans of enjoying are retirement. Traveling throughout the world. Watching our grandkids grow and visiting them. Now it’s just me, and my depression try’s to pull me back. Now I fear I’ve lost those years and am getting older. The meditations have taught me to take live a day at a time. Enjoying the beauty around me. I’m still very healthy, financially ok and, I really have nothing to worry about except what my head produces. The talks and meditation ground me, keep me in the present. Look at life from a more spiritual angle. I have a beautiful family, lots of kids and grandkids. Sometimes I say to myself “WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH ME. Thanks for telling me, I’m not alone and keeping me present.

Best. I tried Headspace about a year ago as well as another app I can’t remember the name of. This is my favorite mediation app. It helped me to turn meditating from a daunting task on my to-do list into something I look forward to. I think the best feature is the little video lessons or chats before each actual meditation. Most of us do not have a “meditation teacher” so it’s great to get this kind of insight. I also appreciate the one-on-one opportunity with an actual person: someone reached out to me as soon as I signed up to say they’d be my meditation coach and answer any questions I might have. That’s been quite helpful. I wish I could give this to all my friends but for now I’ll just say it’s a great app. Oh, and there’s a separate tab for sleep meditations-“Sleep Game” is my favorite.

It’s the voice in your head that you actually want!. I’ve been using this app for a couple of years now. Previous to that, I had a light interest in meditation and mindfulness. After reading the books and becoming familiar with Dan Harris’s story, I began to explore the utility of mindfulness and meditation. This app helped me realize what meditation actually is and what it does. And I continue to learn new things. I love this so much that my Doctor of Nursing Practice project (think dissertation type project) centers around creating a mindfulness-based nurse and creating a mindfulness-based undergraduate nursing curriculum (in the future.) Hoping to somehow incorporate 10% Happier into my project. I use this app just about every day, and refer others to it often. It will change the way you look at your life for the better.

A good introduction and beginning. Ten Percent Happier has good beginners’ meditations and up through more advanced forms and subjects. There are courses in beginning and then in more advanced meditation, and in multiple types, as well. Occasional “courses” challenge you to try a particular type or subject of meditation for 10 days or so. There is a specific area of help for sleep problems. There are talks on related subjects. They have some famous teachers as well as folks you may not have heard of, but good leaders nonetheless. Unfortunately the provided videos are no longer viewable in landscape mode, as they once were. And while the price is higher than I would hope for, I’m still here after a couple of years, so that hadn’t stopped my use of TPH in support of my practice. Try the free trial and see for yourself.

Why choose TPH?. What TPH really showcases, as compared to other meditation apps—which each have their own strengths—is an extremely wide reaching supply of guided meditations and teachings from truly the best mindfulness meditation teachers in the West. Given how ubiquitous mindfulness has become in the culture, I think getting guidance from such sanctioned teachers is quite critical—and what a blessing, so many of them are here on this app! Moreover, there is so much content available that beginners and experts alike will find TPH to be a true gem. I myself have been meditating daily for more than fifteen years, and I still find endless benefit in using this app. At the same time, TPH is the one meditation app I recommend to friends who are just getting started with meditation, and I can honestly say that I’ve yet to hear a single complaint.

Long term grateful user. As an atheist I love Dan Harris’ skeptical approach. I have tried several other apps in the last 9 years but this one works for me best. Joseph Goldstein and Anushka Fernandopulle are my favorites but I enjoy several other teachers as well. The discussions preceding many meditations (within courses) are excellent educational materials for me. The topics covered range from stress and fear to lust to Buddhism basics that everyone can apply regardless of their world view. I see it as a modern church in an app (minus god and social interactions) - I would not be surprised if this grew into a movement with physical locations across the US where likeminded users would meet, listen to presentations, share ideas and meditate together. I think a need for such a movement (The Church of Reason and Meditation) exists. I read the book 10% Happier before I stumbled on the app (I’m on my second yearly subscription) so I felt like I knew Dan Harris and I can count on him eliminating references to supernatural godly powers that always trigger resistance in me, and make me want to get up and walk away irritated. The app may seem pricey but you get what you pay for and more. It is definitely worth more for me than my gym membership.

Content great, app itself not so much. I’ve found the meditation & course content very helpful, & the search function works pretty well to find the topics I want. So that would be 5 stars. HOWEVER, the user interface makes it very difficult for folks like me who don’t have a reliable internet connection. Even in the 21st C, this is true for many people, a lot of whom could probably benefit from this app. Last Spring, I wrote to support with suggestions about improving the UI, explaining why they were important for users like me. Got a nice reply, but none of my suggestions have been implemented. And now with the latest update, I can’t even download any meditations to listen offline UNLESS I HAVE A WIFI CONNECTION. Previously, I could download with just a cell signal seemed to take an excessively long time compared to even TV shows, but I could do it. So not only did they NOT make it EASIER for me to use this app, they’ve made it significantly HARDER. I unsubscribed from the app a few days ago when the latest update crashed, to prevent being charged another $99 to renew in January. Since discovering the new WIFI requirement to download, I’m done - have removed the app from my phone & wont be reinstalling it. It’s too bad, as the content is truly great, but the difficulty trying to access that content is no longer worth my money or my time.
