Give it a try!. I was looking for a constructive distraction during the pandemic, so figured learning a new language might do the trick. Read a few reviews on different language apps and picked a month plan on Drops. I figured if I lost interest quickly, I wouldn’t be out much. I stayed with it, and renewed with another basic plan for a year. Then after that year, I said why not, and got subscribed to a lifetime premium plan. All was going well, until recently, when my app somehow reverted back to a basic plan, which had continual pop up ads prompting me to upgrade (back) to a premium plan, and also limiting session length to only 5 minutes. Not sure what happened, but contacted Drops support, and they worked with me to get the app restored to what I had purchased last fall. It did take a few days to get this resolved, but ultimately the issue was taken care of satisfactorily. The actual sessions are fun and can keep you engaged to keep learning. I spent about a year learning Hindi, and now have been learning Greek since then. Unfortunately I don’t have anyone to practice my learned words with, so that would be helpful to really lock in the words you’ve learned. But that is no fault of the app. The bottom line is it’s kept me engaged since I’ve started. My streak is currently at 613 days which probably is the only time in my life I’ve started something and stayed with it! Give it a try!

Great but…. I’ve been using drops to learn Mandarin Chinese and I really like it as a way of boosting my vocabulary and recognition of characters. I also really want to learn to write, so drops helps with that. BUT the one super frustrating thing is with the writing. I’m not sure exactly how it’s programmed, but it isn’t very adaptive. It seems like it’s recognizing how close you get to their set path, instead of actual character recognition. Sometimes it has you write characters without any guidance which is great practice. But, I find it impossible sometimes to get it “right”. I know what the character looks like and how to write it, but since I’m not putting my strokes exactly where the app wants them, it gives me haptic feedback and forces me to start over. It’s really frustrating when I know I’m doing it right but I can’t get the app to recognize it. There’s value in striving for proper proportion and handwriting, but this is too much. It makes it really hard to enjoy the app as I spend a lot of time just trying to get through these types of exercises. I’d probably be getting a premium membership if it weren’t for this. It also constantly gives me the message “stop the stroke a bit earlier :)” which seems nice, until you get it 1000 times (even when that isn’t the problem, I’m just doing it completely wrong).

Quiz feature. I’m a big supporter of this app and it has helped me drastically. I even really appreciate the new quiz feature and was going to ask if they would create some form of feature like that but they were already ahead of me! My only issue with the quiz feature is something I’ll answer correctly and it will say that I’m wrong. Today, one of the quiz questions asked me to select all of the colors. I selected 보라색, 은색, and 갈색. It then told me I could only pick two which I thought was strange but I chose 보라색 and 갈색 because one could argue that silver is not a color but a shade. When it showed me the correct answer, it claimed that purple was not a color so I got the question only half correct. Another time, it asked me the same question with different colors but including purple. Once again, purple was not considered a color. It is the same with other languages too. I am currently learning Chinese (mandarin) as well and the question was asking for me to select all of the animals (2) but dog, cat, and fish were all options. Is there a way that Drop could become a little more accurate with its quizzes? Again, love this feature, it’s just a little inaccurate.

Beautiful design but full of errors. I love the design of Drops and the way it focuses on vocabulary and I was induced to pay for a year because of that. But oh my word, the quality control is terrible. At least with respect to the French option which is riddled with errors. And I’m not talking translation choices or anything stylistic. I’m talking about actual errors and mistakes like (A) the written words not matching the spoken words, (B) the same picture being used for two different items within the same subgroup, (C) words being cut off in their pronunciation, (D) the written and spoken words being correct but the picture is of the wrong thing. I just cannot understand how the quality control could be so poor and no one caught these things before they were released to the public. Essentially this is damaging to people learning the language who may not know some of these mistakes are there. There does appear to be a *limited* way to report these errors while using the app, but even that is very flawed. You can report the error ONLY upon its first appearance and before you swipe down the first time. So you have to immediately know it is a mistake which, if you are a learner, is hard to do. Even being advanced, it’s hard to stop the swiping in time to make the report. Once you make that swipe though, it is impossible to make any error reports for that word. That option is gone forever.

Constant Crashes Since April Still Ongoing in June. I really liked this app until recently. The app crashes when I try to open it every other day but finally my luck ran out and now I believe it’s been 3 days that it has crashed without me being able to do a lesson so I lost my 300+ day streak. I contacted tech support twice and never heard back either time. The app has been updated and I haven’t seen any improvements. This has been going on for at least a month if not longer. Really makes me regret paying for lifetime since the app clearly won’t be lasting that long. Got a response from the developer asking me to fill out the form I’ve already filled out twice. I filled it out again but don’t have high hopes of getting a response. Update: Turns out the emails from their support team were blocked hard by my spam filter to the point they didn’t show up in my spam folder and were quarantined, so they did reach out. HOWEVER, the response was just that they’d be updating the app to fix the problem. It was over a month before it finally worked again. Then after a week or two, the same crashing issue is happening all over again. Don’t pay for lifetime. It’s not worth it.

Great for vocabulary. This app is very good for repetitive practice of vocabulary, and learning kana and kanji, but it won’t teach you how to speak Japanese. It’s fun and engaging. I have used Drops daily for three months now and have a vocabulary of 600+ words. The strength of this app comes when using it with other apps that focus on grammar and sentence structure. It makes progressing in those apps much quicker. Also I found I progressed much faster in all apps once I turned off romanji and forced myself to only use the hiragana and katakana. My only complaint, and the reason for 4 stars, is that some of the picture prompts are either too similar to one another or not clear about what is being represented especially for abstract concepts like love, please, thank you, etc. So during a Dojo Review session when I’m being quizzed on words I haven’t seen in a few weeks it is difficult to remember what the image is trying to convey. Aside from this I enjoy the app. I’m glad I bought it and it was well worth the cost. I got two subscriptions, one for myself and my husband, and we both use it daily along with Kana Drill and Duolingo.

Good, but limited. I’ve been using duolingo for the past 3-ish years, and this app taught me things duolingo wasn't on the very first day. The “games” that they have you complete definitely feel much simpler, yet way more effective than duolingo as well. Hopefully the owl doesn’t kill me for writing this review, but I actually prefer this app in almost every way. My only complaint about it is that without a subscription you only get 5 minutes a day/every 10 hours(?). 5 minutes a day can be all you need to learn a language, but it’s also such a short amount of time that every lesson feels like a speedrun to get as much done in 5 minutes rather than retaining the information properly. Increasing the non-subscription time limit to something closer to 10 minutes would totally eliminate that, in my opinion. I, as I also assume many who use this app, can’t afford a subscription, so I’m stuck using the free version. It’s great, but I just wish there was a way to make the timer more than 5 minutes! I do understand that you need to make money though, so maybe something like watching a few ads gets you a couple more minutes?

It’s been 133 days now!. Currently learning Korean and Drops has been a great tool in learning vocab and phrases. It gives five minutes and refreshes about every nine hours or so. It’s nice for when I’m busy and can’t fill an entire lesson for the time being. I like that I can also get added time after my lesson sometimes it’s 40 seconds - 1 min. or if I hit a new streak goal it’s an added 5 minutes. Besides that the lessons can be adjust from beginner to advanced. You can toggle on or off exercises such as if you want to focus on just listening or just writing for that session. In learning Korean I’ve found that romanization can make things a bit confusing so that’s another feature that can be turned off or on. It can be overall customized to how your personal learning style. The topics offer a wide variety to choose from. So that’s nice since I don’t have to stick to one topic for the entire 5 minutes. When starting a new topic it will introduce all of the words you will be learning in that section. It’ll show an image alongside the word and meaning. Then it will go through a variety of different exercises, but again customizable if needed. I’d suggest playing around with the settings to see how you learn best. Hide or favorite words and later on you can review words in the review topic or see them in your collection. So far it’s been nice being able to pick up on words and phrases that I’ve learned on here. Gives me a nice boost to learn more for the day.

Perfect for beginning your language learning!. This is not a comprehensive guide to make you fluent in a language. However, Drops is very instrumental to building a solid foundation for almost 40 languages, not including their attention to major dialectal differences by offering separate courses for Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, British and American English, Brazilian and European Portuguese, and Castilian and Mexican Spanish. Vocabulary is very important when learning a language, and Drops gives you thousands of words in an easily digestible fashion. Of course it's not the only way to learn a language, since grammar is also important, but what's the point of focusing on the grammar if you don't even know what words you're putting in the right order? My favorite part about Drops is that they're dedicated to expanding their catalog of languages whenever possible. It's very cool to see an app this prominent teach languages that others like Duolingo will take forever to get, like Persian, Igbo, Serbian, Thai, and Samoan. The lack of grammar holds it back from being a 5 star rating, but as i said, what it does teach is still extremely helpful. The words they teach are very applicable to casual tourism in a region, and for those on the path to fluency, it also covers a solid baseline of words you'd hear in everyday speech. The way they drill them with fun and simple games also goes a long way to improving memorization skills

Amazing!. The teaching style of Drops is amazing! Although I do wish the daily limitation wasn’t there or at least is longer than 5 minutes. If one wanted to solely use Drops to learn languages, that 5 minutes surely doesn’t seem enough unless we are forced to pay to do so. Nonetheless I am currently attempting to learn, Mandarin, korean, Japanese and Thai and I can say that I have learned a lot more in 5 minutes than just reading and forcibly memorising by book, or online. This is an amazing program, quite different from the likes of Duolingo, but if you might add a kind of detailed lessons into each part you teaching, like that on The Duolingo web version where each section has a detailed breakdown or summary type of paragraph where it teaches you how to use each thing you learned. Although I haven’t been using this long, nor have I got the chance to explore further into your app to see if you already have this feature since it limits my usage this is an exceptional programme and I hope you can continue the hard work it surely will help me learn a lot of languages in my life!

Not working. I have been using this app for the longest to help with learning Spanish. It’s been a great tool but as of late I can’t even open the app. Anytime I want to use the app I’d to delete it and download it again. Sometimes my progress isn’t up to date or completely missing and I’ll have to delete it again. I’ve put in multiple tickets but have got no response. I thought with the way things are in the world I’ll put more time in the app but with it not even working for me it’s been a bust. I might try again in a few months to check if it’s been fixed but as of right now it’s just taking up space. Update: So my problem never got fixed but I got a newer phone and don’t have any problems now. So I can know give a better review. I love the app and how quick and easy it is to do a session. It’s great for squeezing in some practice as well as completing a lesson. I love the dojo that reviews random words. It helps me retain info. You can also keep a streak now even if you miss a day, which is a great feature that keeps you coming back.

I am encouraged. I applaud you for such a great platform for learning languages. I am usually not very consistent but your app has kept me interested in going back almost everyday. Still, I wished there was a possibility to get engaged with talking. I am not confident if my pronunciation is correct or if I can remember words or phrases without seeing the pictures. So please add that if possible. Nevertheless, great work and good luck with improving it even more. Now, I have been using this app for several months. I am still greatly satisfied and happy with it and think that it’s worth every cents that I pay. However, it can be improved even more. For example, I would be interested to know when my expertise level goes up from beginner to intermediate or how I am doing compared to all the other learners of the same language. I also remember some features that were there when I started but I don’t find them any more. For instance, I could see how many sections I finished with 100% accuracy or there were a lot more achievements that have disappeared now. I believe they were a great encouragement for keeping me up to go back for more learning. It seems no matter how old we are, we are still like kids when it comes to learning!

Very good app. I love this app a lot and have been using it for months with no issues. I do wish there were less slides/stat updates after you finish a sessions because it’s annoying having to click through all of it. I also wish there was more explanation for some words like context or grammar points. One more thing I don’t like is that they always put “저는” before a verb in the Korean course. It takes away from memorizing the word because I immediate know it’s a verb when I see “저는”. Plus, in Korean, pronouns can often be omitted so it’s unnecessary to add it in the first place. Don’t let this deter you from getting the app, though! It’s an amazing app for the cost and has helped me learn the language and practice reading, listening, and speaking Hangul. There are quite a few languages to choose from on the app, it has a simple design layout that is natural to use, and is aesthetic to look at. 10/10 recommend Big note: Drops will not help you learn grammar for your target language! It is purely a vocabulary app. I didn’t realize that fully until after I paid for it so if that is something you’re not interested in, don’t buy it.

Feels almost like a video game. This is the best language app I’ve tried thus far! It only focuses on vocab so you don’t get bogged down by correct grammar rules, which is great. It has progress for topics, badges for overall progress, and short session times with a streaks calendar, it’s awesome! It keeps me motivated because it feels like a video game with all the accomplishments available. Would definitely recommend! My one suggestion for improvement for future would be that maybe there could be a mode where when starting a topic for the first time, a user is not introduced to the words immediately, only use them in exercises, then the app determines which words the user needs to practice and which ones they know from previous experience. That would mean people who already know some of a language could cross off topics quicker by only practicing the vocab they don’t know and making sure they have retained older vocab from previous experiences. Just a thought! Really love this app and really thankful it has more niche European languages too! Thanks dev team!

Confusing pictures, no flashcards, great app. I really like the variety of words and the review dojo in the premium version and I think that’s worth it but overall there is still some lacking. The review dojo alone which optimized review frequency to help you learn words + no ads is worth the subscription coser, at least for a year. That said, the pictures are all outlines so it can be really annoying when trying to select. Am I really learning that frambuesa means raspberry, or am I learning that it’s the single berry (blackberry pictures multiple berries.. otherwise I couldn’t tell the difference which is irritating). If you can add color or allow us to switch ones that are confusing that’d be great. Brushing your teeth and toothbrush both have a toothbrush and teeth in them, sii hi that’s another confusing ambiguos example. Secondly, there is always the picture on the screen along with the right answer. That means I can always easily use process of elimination for a few weeks abd still not know the word outside the app. Please add flash cards review so that we can test ourselves without any prompts and learn more fully. Altogether, I’m glad I bought a year but without flash cards I won’t be renewing my subscription.

Most helpful vocabulary building tool yet. I’m someone who has been pretty hood with using apps like Duolingo to help me build up my language skills, but I also became quite stagnant in it. It’s good for practicing sentence structure and grammar, but I was struggling with pronunciation and actually building up vocabulary. And without those skills, no one was understanding me. I was skeptical about Drops at first and was committed to just using the free version. But I liked it so much and was learning so many new words that I found that I was watching the ads over and over to up my daily practice time from like 5 minutes to about 15 per day. So when a good deal popped up for a premium plan, I was quick to buy it. I love using this app because it’s helping me with exactly what I needed help with and it does so in a way that keeps you hooked. It’s not boring flashcards, it’s a good picture-memory system that makes sure you learn the articles associated with the words, that you get to here the pronunciation over and over, and helps you with spelling in a way that doesn’t involve typing. I’m super happy with this purchase.

Romance with the Romans. I never have seen Italia in my life so you can understand why it’s my dream to go and travel the whole boot, top to bottom! I have already been studying Italian for a little while but not on a regular basis so this makes it a bit fun bc as my brain is occupied the subconscious mind is having fun learning! I like it and time flies when you’re done, I mean when you’re having fun! I do hate cliches and I always have to let someone know that I do and why I do but I’m saying now , there’s always an exception to every rule or situation that you might find yourself heading right into , you didn’t catch that one huh? I improved on a classic that time flies…the way I have actually given this one cliche some wisdom from my imagination I improved it and now I have to comment on how easy it is in the beginning but It’s got to get more challenging but I can’t see how. They could speed it up but that’s lame and then I would never play again bc something like that takes absolutely no talent to completely me up with so when you are stuck you keep going till you get it right! It’s that the kind of reviews that you were looking for or what! Hey if not, I just wasted my time writing but I like writing so I find it fascinating and it was a pleasure doing it even if you think I’m never going to get it to write a book like The Godfather or The Prestige!

I love it! It’s the best learning language app out there!!!!. This app is great for learning new languages! It’s so much fun! And easy to learn new words! It’s more fun to learn a new language! I really enjoy this app, but there’s one thing you could do to make it even better! Instead of only doing a section 5 minutes long and then have to wait for 10 hours to do the other one what if you could have more time if you get the answers correct? if you do really good on your first section then you get more time for the next one And so on? So maybe instead of 5 minutes you can do 15 minutes for free? If you do really well on the sessions ? And only have to wait an hour to have time back filled up? Other then that this is the BEST learning language app! Out there! Thank you for reading this, have a wonderful day! Please get this app if you want to learn ANY languages, Ps. I’ve been looking for the right learning language app for DAYS, my search is now over thank you again! And get this app if you want to learn any language! Because it’s fun & easy! This is why I gave the great app a 5 Star review! I really really love this app and enjoy it!

Great for learning!. The free version is very useful and it gives you 5 minutes of great practice each day. I have the yearly subscription which gives you more languages, more topics, customized learning times, and more learning games. I’d suggest using this app and starting with the free version to see if you like the basic format and how much you use it. I like the premium for more intense learning (increased times, repeating sessions more than once a day, and more topics). I got mine during a sale period and they seem to offer sales a lot so I would say it is worth it if you are serious about learning one or more languages. I used to use Duolingo and liked that but it wasn’t helpful for learning Korean. Drops is so much more practical and I like the games. I am learning how to write and read in Korean but it uses adaptive learning so that you get the romanization first and they ease new words into hangeul. I love that this app teaches you useful phrases too! The only thing I don’t like is the writing game for the letters. Drawing it out on the screen isn’t very accurate, it can be frustrating, and it’s not the same as writing with a pen. However, it’s not a big deal because you can just skip that topic and jump to whatever topic you want to do. I had an issue with my premium service not being recognized each time I opened the app and so I would have to restore the purchase each time but I contacted support and they fixed it within a day!

Great app, but needs more accuracy. I’ve been learning Italian with drops for a while now, and it is a good app. Only thing that I wish to change is to make the words more accurate and specific-it says that il suo means his, hers, AND it’s. Another thing that I would like to change is the fact that this app only teaches you words, as opposed to teaching words and sentences. Stringing together words is a good skill, but knowing the right way to actually say a sentence correctly is a better one. I would also appreciate if you made the categories better-for example in shapes, I learned about 10 when there are like a 1,000 and when I’m absorbing the new intel, I see the correct way to say something that isn’t related in any way to the topic I am learning. Another thing that I feel would be a good thing to make optional but still in the app, is the option to practice 1 WORD over and over again with the option to quit and move on. I feel that this will be a good way to improve memory and to make sure that you never forget a certain word. And also, i don't think that its reasonable to make the collection inly for premium users. We should be allowed to see the words and hear them even if we aren’t premium users.

Amonst exactly what I was seeking!. To recover lost vocabulary in Japanese, I wanted something like this: brief and engaging daily games offering new words interspersed with review, organized by level and topic. Minor complaints: the Romaji included errors -- at least one badly incorrect transliteration ("ferry") plus many letter-combinations, in the spelling game, that "break" Japanese syllables inappropriately. (Luckily my kana recognition is decent so I turned romaji off and I see no errors in the kana.) It seems the app uses the same framework for many languages. The odd result, for Japanese, is a tedious ratio of "garaigo" English vocabulary (English through a Japanese phonetic filter). It would be great to have an option to toggle these words off. And there are a few concepts forced into a word-for-word translation here ("or" for example) when in fact Japanese uses a different grammatical structure to accomplish what an English word or phrase does. And there's nothing in this app to help explain that "hai" does NOT quite mean "yes" but something more noncommital, etc. So I would be wary of recommending this app as a first exposure. Someone brushing up on rusty skills, though, can shrug and move on without being misled. Last, the reinforcement icon at the end of each mini-challenge lingers just a moment too long for me, preventing a real game-like flow. Others may like the pacing. A timing slider in settings would be a simple fix.

Ingenious app!. The learning style is fun, inventive and effective. By encouraging use of pictorials coupled with sound and text means that regardless of the way in which you learn best, you are reinforced in every medium. The bite-sized daily reminders are also a great way to encourage daily practice. I also think this is a fantastic value — for only a lifetime price of US$169, my whole family is learning on the app, and my kids decided to pick up some fun basic words in multiple languages they never had prior interest in. The platform makes it really attractive and not daunting at all to just try to pick up a few words. Suggestions — the basic words that are taught for each language appear the same — ie., ‘bread’ is one of the first things you learn, and so is salad and lemon. However, this may not be the staple food for some countries. Perhaps learning ‘rice’ first for some languages or ‘noodles’ makes more sense. Secondly, I am only a tourist in my first language I am learning here, but I think it would be a good idea to already introduce some basic sentences by now so I can learn grammar. Maybe this is coming but I haven’t gotten there yet. I also think watching a real conversation in a quick video clip might be helpful for more advanced learners - followed by the terms broken down the way it is done in the app already.

Great fun app!. This app is fun and easy to use. Leave me wanting more than the session which is why I bought lifetime version. I like it, but the free was fine as well. I just didn’t want to wait 10 hours for my next free session anymore. Why not 5 stars? Some words are inaccurate. I’m learning Brazilian Portuguese and my wife is from Brazil and the use different words for some things so I get confused at times. This isn’t a lot, but so far maybe 3 or 4 words so far were like that. Also, one was completely wrong and has yet to be corrected. Also the phrases are great phrases to know, but the images correlating to them are no good. Would I buy again? YES! I still use it almost every day. It’s overall my favorite language learning app for vocabulary. Once I learn Portuguese I plan to love to another language. This would be great to keep the mind going and active. This is a great enhancement to Duolingo. You can learn sentence structures and that from them, but you can increase your vocabulary from this app. I really don’t like all the LGBTQ stuff. I want these removed or to have the option to do so. I can’t stand these political statements. Had these been available beforehand, I wouldn’t have purchased. This has been added since purchasing and I’m highly disappointed that it was added without option for removal.

great app, recurring bugs hold it back. been using for a while and have moved to a yearly membership to get even more value. devs seem to be responsive to user comments/complaints, something reflected in the constant app updates. i will admit to having liked a couple of changes that were rolled back when a majority of users disagreed, but as a high PL + VL individual to each their own. however, two things continue to hold this app back (and from making me comfortable giving it a full five stars): (1) every few days, the app will prompt me to create a login despite me having had a login since the first week of dl. this is esp frustrating because when i click on my profile, it says i am (already) logged in. what gives? (2) every few months, the app will fail to log my progress causing me to lose two days. its like, for 48 hrs, even if i am logged on and the app is working fine, drops will act as if my sessions did not count. if i have two saves or less, my streak is over. this has already happened once and when i reached out to the devs in oct/nov of last year, i was not given a solution (i did not have to start over but my streak was "-2") overall). why cant the devs fix?

Something Has Changed. I want to love Drops. I did love Drops. I have a 543 day streak as of amending this review and rating. It has been a great app for bite-sized vocab learning and really makes me feel like I’m picking up some basics of Hebrew. But I’ve been using the app for a while now and in the past few weeks I’ve noticed a definite shift in usability. Pop-ups for new challenges and features now come up in the middle of lessons and when you close them it sends you back to the homepage rather than the word you were on. Furthermore, you can no longer look at the vocab list of a section to see the translation of a word or words without skipping the slide you were on. I find this to be particularly frustrating because it means I get less opportunity to cement the meaning of a word I’m struggling with in my brain. The key to learning most things is repetition and that’s been taken away. As I said in the beginning of this review I want to love Drops, and while my streak is not quite 2 years, I have been using the app since it came out and it’s always been the language app that’s worked best for me. If the developers read this review please consider what I have said. I hope this helps anyone considering downloading as well.

정말 행복!. 안녕하세요! I have been using this app to learn Korean for over a year now, and this app makes learning a language so comprehensible. You don’t even realize how easily you are learning the words, and the methods are fun and simple to follow. I have really picked up on the language thanks to quite a bit of help from this app. Some things I would suggest though, is for those who are really trying to learn to speak the language, there is only really vocabulary words and how to word certain verbs on here, and I would like to see maybe some teachings on how to conjugate verbs and sentence structure. I had to do a lot of alternative research to really learn to speak the language correctly. I don’t know if there is something for that in the intermediate section because I’m only halfway done with beginner, but I definitely think it would help. I would also really like to see some sections that cover slang words and honorifics, because I think the latter is very important to learn if you plan to travel and use the language in the country or with actual Korean people. Otherwise, it’s very fun to use and I always look forward to doing my lesson at the end of my day. 정말 행복.... Very happy! 감사합니다!

Very crisp and innovative. The app itself is very clean. It really met my expectations. It has a large variety in activities which was really fun and helpful. Every activity is different and it really helped me in not getting bored, it also reminds you to learn every day. I’m not sure how my opinion will change in the future however as of right now the free version isn’t terrible, in fact it’s quite good. This is surprising as many language apps require a payment for quality. This app is very reasonable especially for the price that I paid. If you’re learning a language with a non-Latin alphabet, The app shows you both the romanization and the original language which was great since I am learning Hangul and I want to be able to read and write it as Romanizations aren’t always completely accurate. Luckily the app reviews the romanization, the pronunciation, and the original language’s writing. For those looking to learn a new language, especially one with a non-Latin alphabet, drops will be a great addition to your learning tools. My only complaint is the short time span. I wish that you could practice for more than five minutes a day, it’s just way too fun. Thanks for making it so that everyone can learn ✌️❤️

Love the app- terrible for customer support. I am a paid user, I have been using the app over a year now. I have never encountered an issue until a few weeks ago. I’m not sure what is going on but I’m having some sort of login issue where the app is having an error message repeatedly pop up over and over if I leave the app for longer than a few minutes. It never resolves itself and I’ve tried all common sense trouble shooting methods. I figured I would try to get help from Drops to solve it. I went in to “create a ticket” but it was actually really hard to find *how* to make one. The help pages told me to make a ticket but it was not user friendly in how to actually make a new ticket or where the link was to make a request. Finally, I found an email address for customer support and sent a message. It’s been over two weeks now and I’ve sent up a follow up message and I have heard nothing. The problem has only gotten worse and now if I want to continue using the app, I literally have to delete it from my phone every time I want to use it. Completely annoying and inconvenient. I tried to commenting on an instagram photo for help and didn’t get a response from their official page. I don’t know what else to do. I paid a lot of money for the unlimited lifetime use of this app and I don’t know who to contact or if anyone reads that supposed email for customer service support.

Makes you actually *want* to study!!. This app is the greatest thing to happen to language learning ever. Seriously. I’ve been studying one language or another my entire life and have never looked forward to vocab drills before. I actually get excited about getting to do my Drops review every evening. It’s fantastic. Right now I’m using it to tackle Mandarin Chinese and it’s incredibly helpful for learning the characters. The sounds are paired with the characters (or words) so you have a “See & Say” learning experience, which is the best way to learn. The system is smart and shuffles back to the ones you flubbed on recently so you can practice them more. It also has an immediate reinforcement after you make a mistake so that the correct answer is cemented in your brain. Many of the other apps don’t do that, leaving you to wonder “then what WAS the right answer!?” This app reinforces the correct answer immediately. Clearly the developers know a thing or two about the language learning curve. One thing to remember - learning any language is hard. You’ll have places where you struggle. That’s where an app like this can help so much. Even if you feel like you’re just repeating the same cards over and over (and making errors), you ARE learning. Stick with it and don’t give up! But honestly, download this app already. You’re here because you’re serious about learning that new language, and this is the way to do it!

Drops. I love this app even though I just started I’m young and I want to learn Korean so I can move to Korea when I get older. This app is really helping me but I wish they would focus on one word for a little longer. In my first session I learned 5 words which doesn’t seem like a lot but you have to memorize the word, what it is in English, how it’s pronounced, and how to write it in Korean and that’s hard with school and my extracurricular activities I want to keep learning but I don’t know if I will have the time. The best way I memorize stuff is writing them down repeatedly or saying them in my head and I rather not spend all my time doing that. Some of the words are long in Korean too and I have to write them down over and over again to memorize it. Also for people who have jobs and don’t have a lot of time on their hands I sympathize for them too. When they have time to go on the app they get all these different words thrown at them and it’s hard to get all that down without forgetting. So in conclusion I wish that Drops would slow down the process of learning because everyone learns at a different speed. Thank you for reading!

I appreciate the effort, but..... As a long-time learner of Cantonese, I was excited to hear that an iPhone app was actually starting to offer Cantonese vocabulary practice. However, my enthusiasm has been dampened by the number of errors I have discovered within the vocabulary decks (sometime as many as six words within a section will have an error). The errors usually involve incorrect tones in the jyutping romanization, though the audio recording will be correct, leading to a bit of cognitive dissonance where what I hear doesn’t match what I see. A lot of these error are likely due to the fact that Drops has specific jyutping spellings hard coded 1-for-1 to specific Chinese characters, but in Cantonese, some characters switch tones depending on where they are in a word, so the logic needs to be fixed. I also found some instances where the audio and the reading didn’t match at all (like 我闖入). I used the “report and error” function weeks ago for many of these problems, but Drops has yet to change the vocabulary cards in question or even respond. As such, I can’t really recommend the app at this time. (also, Cantonese learners often deal with two separate romanization systems: jyutping and Yale. It would be cool if Drops followed the lead of other apps like Pleco and offered the ability to toggle between the two)

Mind blowing 🤯. I just downloaded this app and have already learned so much from it! I’ve learned how to say at least 10 words In Korean just by taking my 5 minute lesson! I would recommend this app for anyone who wants to learn how to speak a language they know nothing about. My best friend downloaded this app to learn how to speak Korean, and told me I should try it instead of using Duolingo. This app is much more effective. I don’t want to be rude or offensive but Duolingo isn’t the best way to learn a new language. Drops is a much better way to try something new. It’s not only easy, but it’s really fun too! When using drops, it makes you feel okay about making mistakes! Another thing I love about this app is that sometimes, instead of guessing by the english pronunciation, it shows you the characters in KOREAN. It’s really a mind boggling esxperience for me since I’ve always wanted to read Korean! I’m now able to memorize multiple characters in korean like 봄, 꽃, and 부활절! If you’re thinking about learning Korean, or just any language in general, Drops is DEFINITELY the way to go!! ✨

Fave language app since I outgrew Gus on the Go. Drops has been my fave language app for nearly two years now. It has a simple and intuitive interface, the games keep it interesting, and the positive reinforcement keeps me motivated. The vocabulary is useful and well-organized, and the wide range of categories and difficulties offers something for everyone. The 15 minute bites are perfect for me, but you can change it if you want to. And the thing runs - I don't have to fiddle with it, reboot it, or sacrifice to the app gods to keep it going. The latest upgrades have added a Favorites category (which lets you create a custom category with words of your choice), and picture upgrades. Still on my wishlist are customizable background colors (for those of us with low vision who need the extra contrast), and a program-wide search function. Currently the Search only covers words that you've already studied (at least in hungarian it does), which limits its usefulness. With this app, plus a tutor, I've learned a notoriously difficult language to the A2 level. One of the few apps I'm willing to pay a subscription for.

Loving it!. I've tried tons of apps to try and learn vocabulary in a fun way and this one makes me want to come back and learn more several times a day. I'm using it for Korean but it has over 30 languages and always adding more. It's a bit expensive but I decided to get a year subscription on the first day. Of course you can't depend on one app alone to learn a language, but using the 80/20 principal, a strong vocabulary with the most frequently used words is the best place to start. So I'm planning to use it along with books later and native speakers since I already live in Korea. A great feature of it is allowing you to choose your lesson topics while it remembers words you learned before and brings them up so you don't forget them. I was worried about how it handles verbs, but it seems to be shown in usable forms. Don't think it'll help with Grammer, so I'm planning to get that from other sources anyways. Really happy with it so far and look forward to learning with it again and again! That's more than I can say for any other language app I've used.

Lifetime Access Is A Worthy Investment. This app is the most user friendly and most straightforward language app I've tried yet. It is also the only one (out of a dozen or more) that I have actually stuck with and put money into! It's updates are helpful and add new content, the male and female voices are clear and concise, and the pictures are interesting and clear in meaning. I have tried lessons in: Japanese, German, Spanish, and a few other languages. About 15 mins a day, before bed, is good enough to get you remembering dozens of words a week. Even better is to practice for 15 minutes after waking up and 30 mins before bed. While there are times that I have slacked off and not studied, Drop's simplicity and fun has kept me remembering the lingo over the past 3 years I have been coming back to it. I have stuck with this app and paid for the lifetime access to ALL of their languages; the list of languages keeps growing too! All in all, this app is catchy, fun, and easy to use. I'm glad I found it. The only thing that would make this app more perfect is if the Drops Team added some of the Gaelic and Native American languages like: Welsh, Scots Gaelic, and Cherokee.

Perfect Vocab App!. I took Japanese in college and was always so terrible with vocab. I have forgotten so much and I’ve been wanting to get back into it, so I tried this app, and I feel like I know more vocab now than I did when I was taking classes! Drops makes it simple and fun to learn, and is perfect in conjunction with Duolingo or teaching yourself the grammar. I do have one issue with how Japanese words are ‘broken up’ when you have to spell them using the bubbles; I’m sure all words in all languages are broken up in the same way, but at least for Japanese it feels really off putting because it goes against the way the Japanese alphabet is organized and how you should be pronouncing things properly. I think it would be easier and less confusing if you customized the way certain languages get broken up to follow the correct structure (Japanese is usually sets of two letters or just a vowel/n so if you broke up ‘konpyuutaa’ as ‘konp’ ‘yuut’ ‘aa’ it just feels wrong, and should be something like ‘kon’ ‘pyuu’ ‘taa’ etc etc). I haven’t purchased yet but I’m thinking about it, my only reservation is that the five minute chunks and having to wait basically a full day to come back to it makes me more disciplined! If I had endless time I’m afraid I wouldn’t be as diligent. We’ll see, but in the mean time, thank you for this amazing app!

Ok. Drops is a great app. It is actually fun and easy to use, and it isn’t too fast paced so it helps you memorize things. It is great in this way, but I have noticed a few problems with it. I am learning Farsi on it, and I have noticed some words, such as bale and sobhane are pronounced incorrectly, using the long e sound instead of the short e. I already knew a little Farsi before I started using Drops, so I could tell this was wrong, but other people who have no experience and nobody to correct them could learn incorrectly. Assuming the app is very expensive, it should be accurate. Also, keep in mind that drops will only teach you words, and at a certain point you will need to learn how to use them in real life situation. For that, I would recommend an app such as Ling app, high is completely free. Depending what you are looking for, drops could be worth it though. If you are a beginner who is committed and willing to spend a lot to get drops (or just use it for five minutes, which isn’t enough time to retain everything in my opinion), than this app is good for you. If you are more advanced and want to learn sentences and more complex phrases, than try Ling app, which isn’t overall as fun but is more informative. Still, I will continue to enjoy Drops as it is great and helpful to a certain extent.

Great App ... Great UI ... Great App esp UI /UX makes it fun .. 5 min is achievable . My review comes after using the after for atleast 2 years most of the days .. & It definately is on my shortlist on recommendation to anyone who asks . I prefer to use my storage space & data on commute over an App like Drops versus candy crush or tikitaki & other social 🤯farts.. Don't expect miracles out of this app I don't think it is a replacement to conventional language learning . It definitely is an aid to your conventional language learning , a constructive , creative & educational GAME for me . Good thing : I would highly recommend premium membership if was part of / bundled with my company perks or even target app has freebies woth other premium app cross platform promotion . 1) it was & is part of my routine daily commute activity along with Elevate game . 2) extensive database of language.. 3) small dose big impact on my day . The reason I wouldn't pay out of my pocket for premium membership : 1) I don't have any immediate need for learning a new language. 2) I don't think I would use it more than twice ( 5 min each a day ) 3)even if I did full time one hour a day I don't think this platform would teach me fluency of. Language that may be I can do at a good community college online class. ( My understanding I have not done beyond a certain level ) I wish the level up at some point was 10 min or 2 or 3 session of 5 min a day . Great job guys

This App is Amazing. This App is one of my favorite all time apps to Learn languages. I Have Already Download 3 Apps Which are French App , Russian App and The Drops. I Feel Like this Should Be The Number 1st App. Your Company is Amazing and I love how there so much Topics To learn! The only Thing I Dislike is That We only have 5 Mins To learn Something From a Topic. What I mean is I hope you update all of the Apps that you have in your company Made and Let us and New players Choose how much time they want to spent on Learning the language. For Example You update the Apps to 5 minutes to 20 minutes . It will be really appreciating if you and your company Updates that. I Really Hope you guys do it but Please I do not force you do it. It is just a suggestion. Another thing is about this App is Amazing is that for me it’s not boring at ALL, It’s Really entertaining And All of the Apps I have Downloaded is it Amazing and entertaining. I Hope in the Future Almost the Whole World Will Download this App and Use it For Good To Learn New Languages To Have a Conversation With Other New people they Never Met and might become Become Friends with The Other People!

For Vietnamese Learners - mix of north/south!!. I asked customer service many many months ago if their Vietnamese course was northern style or southern style (they make no attempt to clarify in app). I finally found out from some native speakers that oddly…this app uses both??? Though predominantly southern vocabulary, there is overlap with northern words and northern pronunciations. And there is no attempt made to tell the user which is which. Not good. Bc your user base is trying to learn this language (and paying good money to do so). They cannot possibly tell which words/pronunciations belong to which region. I highly recommend cleaning up the Vietnamese course material or hiring an expert (either northern or southern). There is a big demand for southern. Duolingo already teaches northern style (they too do not disclose the style), which is why I came to Drops. Southern style material is very hard to come by in the US. Even though it’s spoken by 90% of Vietnamese immigrants to the US. I do like the app though. I downloaded this on my mother’s phone and persuaded her to get the lifetime purchase (SO worth it in my opinion for those tight on money/on a budget). I’m very grateful the Drops team still offers this option AND continues to update the app with more vocab). You guys are doing great work. (Just please clean up or differentiate the Vietnamese words and pronunciations as either northern or southern. Pls pls).

Great for vocab, not for grammar. First off, this app is amazing - one of the best I’ve ever used for learning new vocab in Italian. Having said that, drops does not focus on teaching the grammar of a language, and therefore cannot be used as your only resource in learning a language. This is not a bad thing, as this app specializes in one thing and does that one thing really well, but it’s something to be mindful of. I personally would not recommend drops to total beginners of a language, but I would recommend it to anyone who has previous experience, fair knowledge of the grammar and pronunciation, and is just looking to build their vocabulary. Perhaps you can use it alongside Duolingo to supplement or strengthen your vocab while you build grammar, but I find learning too much vocab in the beginning of learning a language to be a little overwhelming. Nevertheless, top notch app - beautiful design, easy to use interface, the words they teach you are definitely important and some are ones that I wouldn’t have thought to look up on my own, and they bring up previous words during all of your lessons to make sure you still remember it.

Romanizations. The app is great! I love the notion of just doing a session for a few minutes a day in order to build a habit. Since consistency is key, I like how this app goes about accomplishing this. There are also many topics for you to learn vocabulary for, ranging from the basics to pop culture. However, I understand that for beginners it’s easier and more preferable to use romanizations along with Hangul as “training wheels”, but I kinda wish they could be deactivated for those who prefer relying on only Hangul. This is especially true for the exercise where you have to spell out the word, but I don’t like that you only have the romanizations to do so with. It splits up the romanizations into the syllables of the Hangul syllables in an awkward way. As someone who can honestly read Hangul better than romanizations (trust me Hangul is easy to learn and better than romanizations) I find this to be confusing at times even though I know the word I’m having to spell out. It’s just a suggestion though. I think I can get by with how it is now, but I just wish that was also an option. Other than that, I love it!

Beautiful App, Great Customer Service!. I’ve used a lot of apps to study various languages over the years(Japanese, Korean, Farsi, Arabic, Mandarin). While there is no magic app that will automatically make you fluent without putting in the work, this app comes pretty close to just that. Here are three immediate reasons why you should give it a try: #1. Studying with DROPS feels easy on the brain and so you study more often. The unique and beautiful design makes it fun to look at and prevents boredom, making it more likely you’ll keep coming back to study. Dragging and dropping replaces boring flash cards, and cute, intuitive animations actually help memorization. Have you seen the color schemes? #2. Customization allows you to pick and choose what you want to learn and how often your sessions are. An app is only as good as its ability to be adapted to your brains learning needs. I like the flexibility of DROPS because you can select different topics to practice instead of having to follow a set progression. #3 Customer Service! I had a question about the app and within a day I received a personal response from the co-founder that addressed my concerns in a way that exceeded my expectations for app companies. This app is clearly made with care and intentionality and driven by a desire to produce and excellent product and support to the user. I look forward to future updates and am confident this app will continue to be a good user experience.

Great app but I have one suggestion…. I really love this app! I use it for learning Korean and it has been a great addition to my studies! It is more fun than going through flash cards and uses a system similar to Anki so once it knows I have mastered a word, I won’t see it as often. It tests me in multiple ways so I’m even familiar with the writing as well as the verbal language. Uses images helps me to not have an English equivalent to Korean words and that has helped me to recall words and not stumble having to think of the English word and then the Korean one. I do have a suggestion for the Developers: Please make a group of topics for VERBS. I think verbs are the most important thing to know when trying to form my own sentences and since I don’t plan on visiting Korea for at least another year, the plethora of traveler topics are not a priority for me. I purchased the yearly subscription and the only thing that I can think of to improve this app is to add a few verbs-based topics. I also have a tip for anyone using the app; TURN ROMANIZATION OFF. It has been a huge help for me (not using romanization) since a lot of Korean does not phonetically romanize well. To avoid he confusion, turn it off and after an hour or two of wondering if you made the right decision, you’ll realize taking away the training wheels (romanization) makes this app better and helps you learn better.

Highly recommend for vocab (from a Korean language learner). Context for this review: I’m currently studying for TOPIK (the Korean proficiency exam) and had studied Korean for a year prior to downloading this app. I was looking for an app to help me build/reinforce vocabulary. My review is based on the Lifetime Premium version of this app. I used the free version for a day and loved the app so much that I actually spent money to upgrade (I never do this for apps). If you’re looking for a vocabulary building/reinforcement app, I highly recommend Drops. I love it for two reasons: (1) I can turn off the romanization so I learn to associate the vocabulary with a picture rather than a direct translation and (2) it dynamically mixes in the vocabulary to reinforce what I’ve studied so far i.e. if I’m on the Clothes topic, it’ll mix in vocabulary from other topics even though I’m focusing on Clothes. The mixture helps me continually review all of my vocabulary. I’ll acknowledge that I don’t know if this app is good for learning Hangul since I knew it prior to downloading the app. With that said, if you can read Hangul, I highly recommend Drops for Korean vocabulary building.

My honest review. Hey Drops team! I really love the app , I downloaded multiple apps pertaining to learning New languages, and this app by far exceeds all of them. For the simple fact that one doesn’t feel like they are in a car dealership lot just browsing and have a swarm of salesman coming at you from all angles and potentially losing the interest of the potential customer. What I mean by this is Drops not only let’s you enjoy the app and get into it with its user friendly features, but unlike most language learning apps, doesn’t try and get you to pay for it with a bunch of pop ups, it lets you actually want to keep the app. Which in turn would make you want to pay for premium. The only con that I can think of have using this app for awhile now is that, while trying to review all the words you have previously learned thus far, a pop up opens and does try to get one to pay for the upgrade. To me personally this part of the app could be changed. Just for the simple fact that it is a smart marketing strategy I could see, but for those who don’t have any form of card payment, it is kind of a bummer not to be able to see the words you have learned thus far. I appreciate the time it may or may not have took to read this review, but I would like to send appreciation to those who made this app possible for people who want to broaden their minds and try something new like learning a new language for what ever reason one might have. Thank you Drops.

Vocabulary building is a must. Acquiring words is a process for whatever language you speak. This makes the process rapid and fun. It raises the likelihood and ease of daily practice which is a critical component to successfully acquiring a new language. It reduces the “translation” effect by associating words directly to images. Use this in combination with your other learning input activities; listening to content in your target language, studying from texts, watching tv, etc and you will tap the comprehensive power that allowed you to learn your very first language. But way faster. Two critiques: the app has a nice number of languages on offer here, like Ainu and Maori. There is zero representation of native languages from the African continent such as Swahili or Yoruba, etc. There is a nice number of topics to start learning from. (Note: I’m not sure how common some vocabulary on offer in those topics would be in native conversations? Hard to know at this point.) I hope there are plans to expand topics and vocabulary. For instance I don’t see much at all on art, literature, etc. Maybe they're buried in other topics. But less of a critique, more of an opportunity.

Seriously love this. Pls add romanized versions of Arabic words in the explore tab! They only show up when seeing for the first time in lessons. The app has gotten a lot better, they listened and to past suggestions. Here are some more! 1. Customs A big lacking versus competitors like SpanishDict and Quizlets is the ability to make custom lists. The thing is that with the rarer languages there’s less competition ans u take what U can get 😂. Ik y’all don’t have every word but you could make an option to make custom lists from the ones u do. I sense a workaround through yalls favorites feature, but I would have to unlock words to know them which I want to start w the most frequent which is the point. There is a competitor app called Fluent Forever that I really don’t want to have to pay for, so it looks like I’ll be making some flashcards myself. I’d love to do it on your app! 2. Conjugation There are singular cards of “I (verb)” but most conjugations aren’t learned by memorization. There are patterns & stems and conjugation is different than vocab. I know typing conjugations is text heavy, but you all have found ways around that for vocab that could be applied. For now I’ll have to outsource to Conjuguemos for that. 3. Voice review They have on SpanishDict! Good stuff! 4. Grammar Ik grammar isn’t easily gamifiable. But it’s smth u may want to add to get in the game. Congrats for the Kahoot acquisition... thx for the app!

Engaging Way to Learn a Language. I've been using drops for about three weeks now, specifically to leisurely learn Japanese. I have the "genius" subscription (about $8 a month--I think--for unlimited use). I've found it to be a fun and convenient way to build my vocabulary. In the Japanese section there are over a 1000 words available, so there's plenty of material. After introducing a word, the app gives a good mix of entertaining matching, spelling, etc. drills to help cement the word. For Japanese, there's two difficulty settings: beginner (only hiragana) and intermediate (katakana and kanji). There's also an option to have romaji subtitles. I've found the beginner setting great for working on basic pronunciation and the intermediate good for getting familiar with kanji. In the beginner setting, there's a hiragana section in which you can get familiar with all the symbols (which I loved). There isn't a section for voiced hiragana or voiced katakana, but there are other flash card-style apps available for the syllabaries, so it's not a huge issue. The app has a dojo section in which you can practice all the words you've reviewed together. I've really liked it as a way of gauging my progress. For me, the dojo always crashes on the intermediate setting, but when I contacted drops about it they replied right away, and I'm confident they'll fix it. Overall, I think this is a great app and I definitely recommend it.

Good for beginners & advanced!. This is the only vocab learning app that I’ve found to be a good multi-tool for beginners and advanced speakers! I originally downloaded it at first to learn Russian vocabulary, in which I’m essentially a total beginner. I soon realized you can easily switch between many languages, and as a C1 level German speaker, thought I’d see what they had to offer there. Because of the way Drops organizes lessons into themes, I’m able to learn/re-learn vocabulary for subjects that I didn’t learn or have since forgotten in my path to fluency (like specific flower types, elements of biology, etc.), without first having to suffer through beginner’s vocabulary. Although there’s always a few words I already knew, I have, notably, still learned at least one new word from each 5-minute lesson in new subjects (which is a victory to me) or relearned words which I only previously glossed over in my studies. I’ve also found it completely worth it to pay for the full version of the app in order to have unlimited learning sessions, which is a lot coming from me, as I do not purchase apps as a general rule. Thank you for giving me a small foundation on which to continue my Russian studies and for improving my advanced German skills one word at a time! :)

Rating- IMPORTANT!!. Hi, this app is great for learning words. It’s not so great for learning how to make your own sentences and grammar rules. I would recommend using this to extend your vocabulary rather that build language from scratch. Additionally, my review dojo’ doesn’t seem to have a limit on how many words I have to do. It’s currently and around 300+ words and I feel like I can’t keep learning new topics until I finish. It fills up so fast and it resets a lot and adds new words. I also wish your could toggle on and off the streak. I personally don’t like the mandatory streak and wish I could have the option to turn it off. To conclude, this app is great for pronunciation and building vocabulary. It still has a ways to go. Cheers, a Drops user.

Love the app, but.... I really love the app, create way to keep me engaged. The new “talk and travel” section is great! However, I am learning Japanese and I don’t think the whole alphabet is in the the alphabet section, sounds like j and p and b are missing, or they aren’t coming up for me... but other language apps like duolingo cover those sounds. Also when you get something wrong, the correct answer is really quick to disappear, and I am slow, so I would really love the ability to click away the correct answer myself so that I see where I went wrong. Right now I get about a second before it disappears.

Amazing App, one request. I recently bought a yearly subscription, and have been loving Drops. I find it much more effective than Duolingo, especially in terms of the visuals. I am currently studying Hebrew, and my only suggestion / request is this: there are certain activities where you piece together the words syllables. In Hebrew and other languages, you are given a transliteration to piece together, rather than the actual Hebrews letters. I, and many others would greatly appreciate if we were given the letters in the language we were studying rather than a transliteration of those letters. It would make the studying much more effective, especially for learning to write in the chosen language, not just understand. Thanks!

Great but just one little thing.... I love this, I look forward to using it everyday and having pictures triggers the visual side of things for me to learn (I need to see, rather then just hear, so it’s great!). But I have reached ‘tourist’ level which doesn’t seem quite right to me as I’ve only learnt basic foods! I didn’t realise that I could choose what to do under each topic but I wish the app knew I had only been studying foods (why foods is placed above helpful travel phrases as the first topic it gives you when first using, I don’t know) to know that I’m deff not at the ‘tourist’ level which indicates I can converse the language and get by. Unless we’re talking food and veggies, I won’t get by like it indicates! Other then that, it’s great!

Good. I’ve been learning with drops for two weeks now and I’ve really enjoyed learning with it. I am currently learning Serbian and it has definitely taught me lots. So here are some pros and cons if you are looking to download the drops app. Pros: - no ads so you don’t get distracted from your language - entertaining and not boring like some other language learning apps - teaches a range of languages that many different language apps don’t offer - easy to use and don’t have to sign in twice just to have a profile - doesn’t have lives so you aren’t under pressure to get things right - you don’t have to pay for no ads, more gems or more lives Cons: - only able to have one session per day unless you pay a subscription (but the sessions are around 5 minutes long with very short questions) - doesn’t really teaches you phrases and grammar at the start - if you’re on a train or in public there isn’t a ‘can’t listen now’ feature where you don’t get questions where you need volume Thank you for reading hope you find this helpful.

Best vocabulary building app. This app has been an invaluable tool for me during my year living abroad learning Spanish through immersion. While I don’t think you could learn a language from only this app (nor do I think you could from any one source I know of) this app is great, it’s perfect for beefing up your vocabulary. The words I learn in this app really do stick in my mind, which I can’t say about all vocabulary apps I’ve tried. Using this app alongside a more grammar-based app like Duolingo which teaches verb usage and sentence structure might be a good idea. For me the cost of the premium subscription has really been worth it, but even if you don’t want to pay anything I still think you should check out this app. Really recommend.

Definitely Recommend. This app has been very helpful for me in making progress with learning Korean. I 100% recommend this as Drops creates a fun and effective way to learn new languages. The only problem i have is the fact that i only get 5 minutes a day because i don't have enough money to pay. I was wondering if there was any way you could decrease the waiting time, or if there were any other ways i could get free time. That would be incredibly helpful to me. Thank you :)

I am a huge fan of this app.. This app incorporates many variations on a single learning feature, that might be considered “nice-to-have” rather than “must-have”, but which make the learning experience all the more engaging. For example, there are several variations on Character stroke practice, going from very guided, to little guidance. I’ve noticed the app is highly customisable too, so you can choose to have English displayed at the same time as Chinese, or hidden away etc. Also, the interface looks beautiful, it feels like a lot of consideration and effort went into the design of this app. Really well done 👍🏻👍🏻

Thai needs improvements. I’m using Drops to supplement my Thai studies and there are a few errors and things that could be improved (feminine word for “I” used with a male picture, alphabet characters not fitting in the space provided and therefore being but off and difficult to recognise similar characters, vowel names are a mess etc). I wish the developer would provide a way of giving feedback directly to them so I can pass these issues on to them. Apart from that I am enjoying it and the variety of ways used to reinforce vocabulary is interesting and fun.

it’s great but there’s a bug. it’s a really good app and i’m learning a lot from it but sometimes the english translate doesn't show up for the whole section. For example i would be doing the food section, it still comes up with the word in the language that you learn, but never the english translations. it would only be for a few of the topics, but i would have to search them up myself, this applies the the collection section too but for some reason only the certain topic in this case food. Hopefully you can fix that but otherwise this is one of the best language learning apps ever

Worth Getting. Great design. Conceptually sound. The only feedback I have is, I think for each module I’d love the option of instead being given the option to restart the module (which is still great btw), you can also choose to do the flash cards for those words specifically and select the type of flash cards you want to practice with for those words. I think it would amazing too if you can choose what types of flash cards to learn from for all modules. Regardless if you’re repeating a module. The cards with the words broken into bubbles is something I’d forgo as it more time consuming than effective. Regardless, very effective and fun.

Good for learning new words. I’ve been using this app for a while and suddenly I just learned some 200 new words, so in that essence it works. Just a little bit everyday added to quite something. It’s best for someone who has a familiarity with their target language, know basic grammar and just want to add more words into their vocabulary. Simply because there’s nothing on the grammar and can be confusing if they’re starting with zero knowledge of the language. My only complaints are on the technical part; first, this app loves to log me out every so often. It’s not a big deal but kinda making me worried that I’d lose my progress at some point. Second, some sentences are awfully long, often they don’t even fit within the answer box, and they got cut off at really weird parts. For instance, instead of separating the sentence into distinct words they got parted like this: “I wan tto eatso me eggs” (I’m learning Japanese but illustrating it in English). I guess because the sentence/words got processed by the AI that way, minor annoyance but when something like that come up I tend to just give the wrong answer to progress quicker. Otherwise, I’m enjoying using the app and it has helped me learn new words. So if you’re learning a new language and want additional study material on the side, I can definitely recommend this.

Great app. Been learning Japanese with this app for the past month and a bit. Love the way the app teaches you new words by drilling it into your brain and also being able to do categories over and over as many times as you wish. It is subscription based and only having 5mins a day to practice with the free version wasn’t good enough for me so I got the premium package and so far it’s been well worth it, haven’t missed a days practice yet! All in all this app presents very nicely, you can see they’ve put a lot of work into this. For what they’re asking in a yearly subscription I think is pretty fair and something I’ll continue to be subscribed to.

Problem in changing the language. I was learning Vietnamese and tried other languages and wanted to go back to Vietnamese. But the 'close' button was too high, so I couldn't click Vietnamese which is at the bottom of the list. So I had to delete and download it again. I'm using iphone SE, just in case. And when I learned numbers, it wasn't in right order so I was confused. But still I think this is the best app for learning words easy and fun. Worth to pay money for this. Thanks for the hard work to everyone in this team who made this amazing app.

One of the best language apps I’ve used.. Drops is one of the best language apps I’ve used! I was in the middle of learning Russian a few years ago when the wonderful app I was learning through just disappeared; I’ve tried so many apps since and none of them measured up. That is until last week when I downloaded and tried a bunch more and came across drops. It’s fantastic! It uses games and visual aids to help you learn and just makes the whole learning experience fun! It also has a huge variety of languages available for you to learn and you’re able to switch between them, all in the one app. I’ve now signed up for an annual subscription and am learning a few languages at a time now. Thank you so so much for making such an amazing app!! Learning a language has never been more fun. Highly recommend and two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼

Nice but needs verb category!. Hopefully I’m not mistaken, but I would really love an option to categorise words by parts of speech. There are times I really just want to brush up and look up studied verbs, nouns or prepositions but there doesn’t seem to be a way to just learn them or they’re not put into their own subject. I think this would be a really great feature to put into Drops and gives users an option to improve vocabulary by grammatical usage. For example, I have 1000 Words in Spanish by Usborne for my daily noun vocabulary but Drops could not only be a tool for learning nouns as specified as “light filament” but to drill other parts of speech too.

Robbing me every month - Drops is a SCAM.. I got Drops Sept 2022 to learn Samoan, then deleted my account earlier this year. Deleted the app and went into Apple to cancel my subscription. It cancelled. Since the beginning of this year Drops have taken $30 from my account for an app I no longer have on my phone, and a subscription that’s been cancelled. I made two refund requests in June and have heard NOTHING back other than “thanks for your email! we’re busy and we hope you appreciate that :)” useless emails from their so-called “Support Team”. I have sent them the email the account was associated with, and the receipt and they maintain it’s deleted. I was charged AGAIN yesterday $30. There’s nothing left to do at this point other than going to the bank and deleting my bank account, then re-directing all of my life to another account because Language Drops are ROBBING me every month. DO NOT GET THIS APP.

Developers have responded quickly to give more secure sign-in options. *Edit: I was excited to see that you have updated to add e-mail login: Bravo!! I’ll change my rating to 5 stars. Thank you for giving users the opportunity to use your app without having to involve Facebook or Google and all of the privacy risks they carry. I look forward to continuing my language-learning journey with Drops.* Original: The app seems clever and I am making progress in various languages. It it is very disappointing that I can’t save my progress and sync without having to sign in via one of the data sponges, Facebook or Google. I object to these awful third party data vacuums knowing my every move. Edit, 29 Sept: Given yesterday’s enormous data breach affecting 90 million Facebook accounts, I rest my case. Why would I want any of my data or activities anywhere near Facebook??

Fantastic App. I adored this App with a passion. It was absolutely simplistic and didn’t over complicate such a difficult concept to learn. It was such an amazing App in which you had an enormous list of new languages to learn from. Because of it’s simplicity in the form of layout, presentation and voice over, it made the task of wanting to learn an entirely new language so interesting and enjoyable that I wanted to learn more. In just less than five minutes, I had learnt almost ten new Japanese words that I had never even attempted before. I can memorise them because Drops has designed it in a way that something so complex becomes as simple as a touch away. I recommend this App for anyone who is interested in learning a new language, or 10!

Italian. I have only been playing for 3 days but I really love this app and have learned so much new words in the last 3 days I just wish the time sessions were longer I understand why they’re not because they want you to go premium but I at least wish the sessions were at least 10 minutes at least if more, and when you go to my collection it always comes up with the premium but I just want to look at my words without that coming up every few seconds

amazing app - but hurts my eyes!!!!. absolutely delivers on what it sets out to do - be a fantastic vocabulary based companion app to learning a language. It’s gamified enough to be very fun but is still challenging in the rights ways. Sometimes it’s glitchy and slow on my ios - but this is forgivable. My one wish is that there was an option to change the flashing colours - since the update a few months ago where the background will change to a different vibrant colour depending on the kind of exercise it hurts my eyes and gives me a headache 😢 I haven’t been able to enjoy it as much as I have been since. Please give the option to change back to the original with no flashing colours! The graphic design is otherwise so lovely!!

Topical inconsistencies. For me I am using this app in conjunction with another learning app that is specific to my chosen language of Japanese. My other app is good for teaching sentence structures and the hirigana and katakana so I am finding drops a good partner app to learn sone more fun words in topics that interest me and keep me interested in learning my language instead of always feeling stuck in the basics. I would have been tempted to upgrade to a subscription to access particular topics that interested me but when I do get to a topic I like I am often disappointed by the word choices. Outdoors was really just all about camping which isn’t my interest. Flowers was filled mostly with gardening terms even though elsewhere there is a topic dedicated to gardening? I am working on wild animals and again half the words seem to be insects despite insects being another topic group itself. With only 17 words per topic I also feel the choices can be heavily western/American and not necessarily reflective of the culture I am studying.

Decent language app but the agenda they push kills it. I was learning Greek, they have about 20 categories where only 2 you have full access to when using free version and with the other ones you have to work your way to get full access. The two categories you have all access to is fundamentals and “essential LGBTQ vocabulary” on gender transitioning, pronouns etc. you are a language app not an indoctrination app, I understand people have their beliefs and that’s ok even though I think they are wrong, but don’t flaunt LGBTQ Ideology on a language app, much of it is destructive, especially the gender and trans ideology. For that reason, I am not using this app and will not until the LGBTQ ideology is removed from the app. Some may think I’m making a big deal, but values matter.

Great companion app for learning vocabulary. I’m learning Icelandic, and I found Drops because it was the first language app I found with Icelandic as an option. I’ve been happy with my choice so far. Although it doesn’t help with grammatical structure and word cases (especially relevant since Icelandic is a synthetic language), it has been fantastic to help improve my vocabulary. The only real issue I’ve come across so far is that there’s an option to report errors. I have done so about 10 times over the last 3 months that I’ve been learning, and had no responses, or seen any corrections to the app yet.

Finally!!...An App that doesn’t bore you to death!. I’ve been trying to learn a language for passing home now and it does interest me, although every single app I downloaded and I found myself using it for 1 to 3 days maybe and then never using it again. Drops is awesome and i actually look forward to it every day....😍😍😍 even on my busy days (every day LOL)That’s notifies me to remind me to do my lesson! (Which is actually a little exciting every time I see it, it doesn’t feel like a chore)!..Can you.S I’m only using the standard version I have an upgraded either I can only imagine how fantastic is that would be great, but she’s definitely in the near future. thanks heaps drops,I can finally speak a little Spanish/Mexica! 😍😍😍😍🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺I love everything about this app!!

Just a vocabulary App?. The user interface is nicely designed and easy to use, and fun. There are lots of topics to choose from in any particular language. I already speak two languages, and wanted to learn a third. But can you actually learn a new language with Drops? I’m not so sure, as Drops only gives you new words to learn on a daily basis. There is a lot more to learning and speaking a language than just a good vocab. You can learn lots of words in a particular language, but there is no grammar, no phrases, and no sentence construction lessons. For example I might learn ‘good morning’ , then ‘lovely’ , then ‘day’, but how do I say ‘Good morning it’s a lovely day?’ Or how about past or present tense? Drops can work well with other kinds of language support, but just learning 1000 new words will not make you fluent, or a speaker of a new language. Use Drops as a learning aid to support other ways of learning a new language.

Amazing but one thing... This is probably the best learning experience apps I have downloaded .i am learning French and while it’s very hard DROPS makes it easier to retain information because it makes it fun to learn.. it gives you activities that are enjoyable :D . Developers:But one thing …. Why Only 5Mins? It’s extremely annoying when I’m in the middle of learning a word in French when it says “ session complete “ … I think the developers should make the sessions at least 10MINS long.. but this is overall an amazing app ☆☆☆☆☆. Hope you change this :)

Drops. Someone complained it’s not great for tourists. I think I’ve had more success with this app than direct learning in a class. That’s because I’m learning Chinese which is about the furtherest language from English there is. I love this program. It’s great even for tourists because it’s hard to function even as a tourist without some basic script. But if u r not a tourist this format is even more excellent. It forces me to learn by combining everything. The script, the sounds, the pinyin and the tones. I’ve made more progress recently than I ever have. I was determined NOT to buy it, but it’s increased my progress so much I think I could pass some of the language tests now. So I’ve ended up buying it. Thank you to its developers.

Big Fan, But.... I’m a big fan of the actual app itself, but I’m getting a bit tired of getting constant notifications telling me to buy the premium subscription, or about fancy offers and deals for various subscriptions, when I’m already on the premium subscription! I’m not sure if there’s a bug or not, but if the developers could please maybe make a patch so that people who are already paying for the premium service don’t have 3-5 notifications a day trying to get them to buy something they already have, that would be awesome! Otherwise I have literally no complaints about the app. :)

Not useful for Thai without knowing Thai script. The design and different tasks to memorize the vocabulary are great. However, the latin script for the words is without any indication of the tones of the words. This is crucial because the tones change the meaning of the words. In addition, a lot of the words are not correctly spelled in the latin script, for example, the month January should be spelled “ má-ga-raa khom” but instead is written “ma ka raa khom”. Overall, the app is only useful for people who are already familiar with the Thai script and can read the tones. Otherwise you will have a lot of trouble when practicing your vocabulary without being totally misunderstood because the lack of correct tones. For beginners or intermediate learners who only want to practice speaking, I would recommend other apps that indicate the tone of the words.

Used to be good - unstable and unwieldy to use now. I’ve been a long term drops user (3+ years) but recently the app has been irritating me to no end: 1) it constantly crashes - I try to open the app from iOS, it opens the main page, hangs for a couple of seconds and then crashes. Most of the times it’s a couple of times before I can in but today it’s been impossible. 2) the CONSTANT restructure of the course content is extremely confusing to follow!! I get you are trying to add new content but please leave the old topics alone. They constantly split and splice the old topics so it’s hard to revise your old topics you’ve “mastered”. It’s also become unintuitive on how to practice specific areas. It seems like you have to level up before unlocking specific topics - something which is not well explained.

A couple of mistakes in Greek. Hi I’m loving learning Greek. I’m up to 81 days in my streak. Lately there have been a couple of words that don’t match the written with the spoken and vice versa. For example chewing gum has the correct pronunciation but the written word is incorrect. Today was ambulance where the written word was correct but the pronunciation was incorrect. However 2 tiny mistakes in 666 words is insignificant and all and all I think it’s a great app. Now I just need an app that will teach me how to put all these words into grammatically correct sentences. Maybe a future update for this app.

Amazing!. I love how easy it is to learn a new language using Drops. With loads of creative and fun games, learning is super easy. It's such a great app and I've learnt so much already. In my school, I am learning German but I was behind on the work. Now that I have this app, i've stayed on top and have even been receiving the best marks in the year level! I owe it all to this app. I am confident that in a few months -using this app- I will be able to hold a decentish day to day conversation in German. I also find it helpful that there are pictures. Everytime that i'm doing lessons, I match the picture to the word and everything clicks into place. Yet another thing is that if you're unable to pay -like me- and you're waiting for your next lesson, you have the vocabulary review list to check on. This makes the app so much more user friendly, and much better. Thank you

Learning icelandic!. I wasn’t expecting there to be much content on here but to my surprise there is lots! I love the layout and how the different sessions are categorised. I also love how you get pictures which you can tap on to see the word. I am a very visual learner so this feature has helped me immensely. To my surprise, I have been doing pretty well in learning icelandic despite having trouble learning and remembering languages. If you are learning icelandic or any other language I highly recommend this app. It is well worth the subscription. I never write reviews but this app is amazing!

I hope this is an accidental bug!. I’ve tested dozens of Apps for language learning and Drops is by far one of my favourite. I haven’t used it in a long time, so I downloaded the free App a few days ago with the intention to pay for it on a monthly subscription for couple of months to prepare for a trip overseas. When I navigated to the Subscription Screen in the App, it showed me the option of a free 7 day trial. I figured I’d go with that just to test it all out again as it’s been a long time since I last used the app, and then make sure that I’m on a monthly plan before the subscription starts. That didn’t quite go as planned. The moment I confined the ‘the free 7 day trial’ I was charged over $100 for a yearly subscription. My best guess is that I must have used the 7 day trial at some point in the past, hence the payment got processed immediately, however, this was all very unclear and misleading. A better approach would be to show a different screen for users who have used the free trial in the past, where they can pick one of the subscription options, rather than being advertised a free 7 day trial which turns into an immediate $100 payment. I asked for a refund from Apple, have my fingers crossed that I’ll receive it, and will then try to subscribe to the monthly plan as initially planned. To summarise, Drops is an awesome App for language learning but unexpected immediate $100 charges instead of advertised free trials are frustrating.

Amazing!. This app has been really great in helping me further my knowledge of the Chinese language. I have only been using it for about a week but have already learnt and successfully remember more then I have in my first year of doing classes on it. I would completely recommend this to anyone wanting to learn and believe that this may be the future of not only language learning but other studies too. I think that this app is amazing as it is but a way to expand this further would be to also have this as a resource for outside learning. You can enter the words you need to know for say an upcoming test and using the same methods it could help you learn those words that you need to know to pass.

I love it!! But one problem. This app really helps me to learn languages faster! the selection of languages is great and you don’t have a Siri robot voice. One thing I think you should change is the amount of time each day for the normal app. 5 minutes a day is a big restriction against the people who want to learn on drops but DONT wand to spend money. It’s really annoying how I spent 5 minutes learning how to say food in Japanese, then I can’t spend any more time on any other categories or languages until 10 hours is up😔. I overall love this app, but the limitations are crazy!! At least make it 10 minutes or 1/2 minutes each category/row for free. ANYTHING JUST PLEASE I WANT TO LEARN JAPANESE LIKE HALF SN HOUR A DAY!!!👏👏🙏🏻🙏🏻

Soooo good. Update: Today I have reached streak day number 799 !! My family are amazed that I have kept going for this long…it’s just part of my lifestyle now. Still loving it 🥰 This app has been very helpful in terms of motivation. The streak allows for a single day to be missed, but not two consecutive days to be missed; because of the way this is set up, I have been able to reach a 365 day streak which feels amazing and I find it very encouraging.

The most boring language app ever. I put myself in as an advanced speaker of Italian as I used to be but haven’t spoken it in twenty years and have lost my vocabulary. I’ve been through five ‘lessons’ where it’s gone over the same two basic phrases and six food items. Over and over. It doesn’t appear to move you on any quicker if you get everything right in record time. You just have to keep answering the same questions over and over until you’ve lost the will to live. Oh and advanced is not remotely advanced. I would not consider simple things like egg, knife and fork and the present tense like I cook to be close to advanced. At least duolingo makes some basic learning a lot more interesting than this.

Awesome. This game is absolutely awesome! I prefer this app over Duolingo formultiple reasons. First of all, Drops has access to more languages such as Tagalog and Icelandic, which are not in other games. Secondly, Drops lets you learn words that you will actually use in public frequently (numbers, describing terms etc). I use Drops to help learn alphabets of foreign languages, just for fun. The only thing I would request is to add some more popular languages so no one misses out (such as Armenian, Catalan and Georgian). Overall, this app is awesome and I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a new language. 5/5 stars!

Really good app but 1 problem that isn’t big. This app is really good! It’s the only app that I’ve found that actually helps me remember the words I’m reading, it has a good layout and easy access to different things. The only problem I have is premium is a bit expensive but it makes sense because of how good it is, but I’m still not sure if I should buy it, either way it’s a really good app that deserves more attention and I would really recommend it for anyone who is just starting out or even coming back to learning it

Why the subscription. This app was very helpful for me to learn mandarin, except that once you spend 10 minutes on the app your time is up and have to wait ten hours. This seems quite pointless as other language learning apps (Duolingo) let you learn as long as you want. It is also quite stupid how if you make an app for people to learn languages, then why do you limit the time people can spend on it? Also the prices you charge are quite high seeing as Duolingo is free. There is a subscription, but it doesn’t restrict you from using the app at all. And by the time you have learnt the language you were learning fluently, you will have spent over $500. It’s quite dumb

I’m actually learning Thai 🇹🇭. I’ve spent a lot of money on Thai language apps and this is the only one in which I am successfully recalling information. Many other apps are very good text/phrase books but Drops is different; it uses games to reinforce word sounds, spellings and the script in many ways so you are able to recall what they are. I also found it useful to look up Wikipedia for the common ancestor of Thai and Latin scripts (Phoenician) which shows how the symbols used in both English and Thai languages (which look very different) actually come from the same source, sharing a similar meaning or sound, or both. There are some odd/erroneous translations and some nouns that don’t make a whole lot of value in a English speaker learning Thai words context eg blackberries, cookies, chocolate which don’t have a Thai equivalent but I do understand the value in using these borrowed words to learn the Thai script - you only need to one translation instead of two. The developers appear to be actively working on the app and deploying regular updates which is good to see.

Great!. I just finished my first lesson and I can tell from the start that this is really going to help me with French. On other learning languages apps, they don’t quite have what this app has. The other ones are all serious, but this app has sort of a chill vibe to it. I really recommend it to others, there are so many different languages to learn, whether it’s for school, work, home, etc, it’ll be a great learning tool. I started off thinking that this was like all the other apps, forcing me to cram everything into my head at once, but this app takes it slow, and gets you to practise it over and over again until you finally know it. I love this app and I’m sure others will to! :)

Serious login bug. Also spammers.. Feel like logging in on a different device tomorrow. Well don't bother. The log in will work fine, but then it will reset the timer. Had 15 mins left to wait until your your next 5min word game? Well now your wait is straight back to 10 hours! On a more sinister note, were you thinking about hitting the "unsubscribe" button at the bottom of their spam emails? Well don't bother with that either. The unsubscribe button doesn't work. Despite the unsubscribe link containing tracking data, it just leads to a webform asking for your email address. In theory, you could just enter your email address in the form (remembering to use the apple privaterelay address from iPhone settings if you you use 'sign in with Apple'). The trouble is, your email address will go unrecognised and you will continue to receive spam. It's not as if the developer doesn't know you tried to unsubscribe - the "faulty" unsubscribe link was encoded with tracking data.

Improvements to be made. I’ve been doing the tagalog course and I’ve noticed a lot of spelling errors like “umuraw” instead of “umaraw”. I would like it if you added some Slavic languages such as croatian to the app. In addition, please add a mode where it’s possible to create sentences and work on grammar rather than just working on single words throughout the duration of the course. Overall this is a great app which I’ll continue to use, it’s very engaging as opposed to boring and bland; I’ve even convinced my friends to try it because they thought the layout was that pretty! Thank you

The 5 minutes rule is absurd. Giving people 5 minutes every 10 hours, is in my opinion, not effective in free learners learning journey. Yes, making the learning time 5 minutes will increase the need to focus and will increase productivity and memory with the language however it’s only 5 minutes per “day”. We should be able to keep replaying the level or words that we just worked on or have already learned in the past without having to wait so that revision is easier and we don’t need to revise, say, 100+ words in 5 - 10 minutes a day. I get it’s a marketing technique to get people to subscribe and make them pay for your app however giving only 5 minutes per lesson in my opinion is not effective when someone is learning a language.

Finally a fun and effective method.. Don’t get me wrong, we all learn in many and varied ways. However, I’ve spent a while with many languages and attempts with ‘so called’ effective strategies. With award winning and most recommended. None have worked. However, I can via drops by accident. It didn’t even come up in my search for learning languages and I found it by happenstance. I’m glad I did. It’s been so much more helpful in retention. I don’t really care what words I’m learning and in order. There are many ways time and tested to learn language and all the platforms and apps tend to have a good evidence based approach to language acquisition. However, retention is the trick and I found that drops is by far the most effective for me in retaining the words I learn.

don’t try and get support. Despite paying for this app the support is terrible and worrisome that you think you are paying for a cloud based app that they actually know nothing about your history or status and just send you the same set of instructions despite the information you provide them. This app is probably okay if you only want to use it in one device but cross device is bug ridden. The integration with apple single sign on is also woeful and the only way to reset is to delete the app and start again. Despite reading some promising reviews i’ve given up and would rather use something that’s perhaps not as well designed but actually has decent support and works as it says as well as enables sign on via the 3rd party authentication.

Honest :). So far this app has been pretty good, I haven’t done much so I’m unsure of certain features. There’s many things to access still without paying which is something I always like in apps such as these. The option to hide words you may already know is a good feature, the visual aids will help things stick in your memory and repetition also helps. An utterly useless language learning app. Yes, it is a beautiful looking app, but if you’re serious about learning, Drops is both a waste of time and money plus it will likely hamper your learning ability. It’s really disappointing to see this app has an editor’s recommendation when it just so bad. My review is based on it’s claimed support for Thai. I subscribed to the premium features for 1 month; as the month comes to the end, I’ve canceled my subscription. Drops is teaching more of a “Google Translate” version of language learning. There is no thought given to how the target language work. At best you’ll just end up speaking English in Thai. First problem, it’s too focused on words. This is fine for building vocabulary as a supplement to a full featured language course, but it’s not suitable for forming core of your language learning. It’s definitely overpriced for what little it provides. You are much better off using Anki for your SRS/flash card needs. Anki is both cheaper, more usable, and customizable. Plus you get to create your own vocabulary lists with Anki and you can include sentences so you can see the word in context. The only advantage Drops has over Anki is looks. Let’s talk about that focus on words. It could still be workable if Drops cared about the language you’re learning. But they clearly don’t or are engaged in some extreme cultural imperialism. They try to force Thai into a variant of English. The two languages are quiet different. Thai words simply work different than English ones and doing this straight across translation makes no sense. Worse, it will make you come off as extremely rude when speaking Thai as it used the extremely personal versions of Thai pronouns and it’s doesn’t take into account the gender of the learner. In Thai the 1st person singular (I/me) is gendered. But Drops uses ดีฉัน, or the slightly less formal ฉัน, if the speaker is female and ผม if the speaker is male. Often the images show a male doing something with the pronoun being ฉัน. Yes, men can use ฉัน too but only in extremely informal situations with people you’re already very close to. You would never refer to yourself as ฉัน if you’re a male speaking to someone older than you. It would be incredibly rude, but that is what Drops teaches. Likewise Drops completely messes up family relation words, because, again, they work differently in Thai than English and Drops only cares about English. For example the English word “sister-in-law” doesn’t have a direct translation in Thai as which side matters in Thai but doesn’t in English. So there are two words: น้องสะใภ้ and พี่สะใภ้. But Drops doesn’t explain the difference. Then don’t get me started on the transportation section — trying to translate so many words that are irrelevant in Thailand, like tram. Hell, who even says “tram” in English? There is no attempt to focus on words that would be useful in Thailand, this is most obvious in the the food sections. I doubt anyone from the Drops team has ever visited Thailand. Then there is no discussion of tones or discussing how Thai syllables work. Drops breaks words in naïve ways. Thai has strict rules how to make syllables. To test your knowledge of words Drops presents words broken in parts that you must put together in the correct order. It’s a good idea but, like so much of Drops, it’s poorly executed. You don’t have to know the word to know the order, you just have to know the syllable rules because often the words are broken up in a way that there is only one possible way to combine the words. Thai vowels are often written before the word the come after. You can’t end a syllable with ใ for example, you know that it must start a syllable. So if you are presented with two parts and one ends with a vowel that starts a syllable, I.e., ใ, ไ, โ, เ, แ, you know it must come before the second part. The “typing” exercises would be better off using the built in keyboard. It’s good for practising spelling but since in real life you’re going to use the keyboard, why invent a new interface for it. It would be better for the user to get used to the keyboard for the language they are learning so they will be able to chat once they have minimum skill. On that note, the most important part of learning a new language is conversation. There is no attention to conversation at all in drops. No way to map out question/responses like you’d do with Anki. So with Drops you’re just going to end up with a grab bag of words with no understanding of how to use them. Finally, the UI for Drops is frustrating. You can’t rotate it and you’re forced on the iPad Pro 12.9” to hold it in the uncomfortable portrait orientation. The Apple Pencil is completely not supported in any meaningful way. You end up having to use your fingers like a savage. It feels like such a downgrade because the Apple Pencil is so much more natural than touch. TL;DR Drops ignores the culture behind the language you’re learning; Drops ignores the way the language you’re learning works instead forcing you into an English centric model; You’re not going actually enhance your skills using Drops. Best bet is to just go grab Anki. Learning languages is work and you have to put that work in. It’s so worth it. Drops will not help you if you’re serious.

Cute but some pictures are confusing. I like this app for learning Yoruba, I find the words stick better. I think the quizzes could include more words from earlier lessons so I don’t forget them as I learn new words. Some of the images associated with words like “why”, “how”, “what” are a little confusing but I guess there aren’t many images that would fit. It’s a little pricey at $15 a month, but still cheaper than others. Many apps don’t offer Yoruba and Google translate is more often wrong than right. So it’s worth it I guess. Time will tell if the words truly stick.

Très interactif!. Cet app est vraiment interessante et interactive. J’adore!

Audio is not working in this app. Audio didn’t work

Great app. Great app with seamless interface and minimalist design… would be even better if the lifelong fee is not that expensive!

Pretty good. Wish it were free tho...

Easy to use. I love using this. The free version is more than enough. Gives little time but really helps to ingrain words into memory

European Portuguese lessons. It would be nice to have the English word displayed on more slides other than the first one. Some of the pictures associated are not totally clear.

Awesome!. Alot better than the other apps out there

I liked it. A lot

Is their an actually QA of Drops?. Not sure if the Tagalog section of Drops is representative of the rest. But when “Sobrang puno ang paradahan” (very full parking) is translated as “parking was a nightmare” it makes one doubt about the quality of the lessons. NOTE : This is just one example among a few that I have picked up. Drops… You can certainly do better.

The best. I'm needed to learn a language so I choose a this

Super. Super! My recomendation!

Needs flash rounds & Verb Conjugation. Without conjugations & declensions, one isn’t learning much useful. I’d REALLY appreciate a lightning round of ‘M/F/N’ quizzes & I’d pay for an advanced grammar version of this app… I enjoy what I’ve been getting, but know it is a game, not an education

Pretty good,. I really enjoyed it. I get a lot of new language it’s pretty fun.

Thai. I love this app ❤️❤️and Thailand 🇹🇭❤️❤️❤️it’s easy and fun to learn Thai thank you 🙏🏻

Glitch. I used to love using this app but lately when I start a lesson it gets stuck on a blank purple screen and I can’t do anything. Very disappointing. I have an iPhone SE running the most recent software update.

Good app but not enough time. I do not have the premium package and I find that 5 minutes per day is not enough. I feel like they could do at least 8 and more preferably 12-15 minutes per day

Drop. J’aime bien cette application elle nous permet d’apprendre une nouvelle langue à notre propre rythme.

Great app. As a stand alone tool, you’re not going to learn a language with this app, BUT, for learning vocabulary, it’s been better than anything else and it’s fun as opposed to being a chore.

this app is amazing. i love this app so much, it's helped me learn so many languages already

Wonderful. This app is so wonderful, I cannot wait to see and learn its full potential after I purchase the premium in due time.

Fantastic Way to Learn. I really enjoy the interface. It’s very easy to practice and master new words. I am hoping for a sentence structure feature in the future.

Lots of fun. And 5 minutes is easy to accomplish.

Bonita. Bonito diseño y fácil aprendizaje

A Bit Weird. I started intermediate French and so far it’s been 5mins every lesson of learning select words within a certain category. The same damn word over and over. It would better to see it within context of a sentence, to practice pronouncing it etc. Words themselves aren’t helpful if you aren’t learning the rules, structure and so on of the language. I find it boring and frustrating. That being said the design of the app is pretty neat, but turning on the VR component and giving access to my camera didn’t do anything.

Love the 2 day Rule Addition!. Sometimes life gets crazy and you miss a day.. Or you start a review under 10 minutes before midnight and just miss by a little. The two day rule helps keep your streak alive and makes easier to keep coming back to practice. The dojo is great for keeping up with review. BUT once you get a lot of words I feel like it is too aggressive, I wish it would maybe have a maximum so that you are always incentivized to learn knew words instead of feeling like if you don’t keep up for two days there will be 200 words waiting for you. Overall Drops is fantastic for getting initial exposure to vocabulary and offers a flexible learning approach so you can learn words you’re introducing in!

Fácil e gostoso. Muito fácil e envolvente

Great daily vocabulary exercise. Good supplement to learning a language, mixing this in with other focuses is great to boost my vocabulary and unique phrases.

I was enjoying it but then. I was enjoying it as the lessons for the ASL alphabet were nicely paced and challenging. But then I made it to the first checkpoint and instead of matching letters to the hand signs as in the lessons it also introduced matching audio to the hand signs but the audio doesn’t work so you have to try to match with only half the info. Also having audio matching for a visual language just seems counterintuitive so I don’t know why it was in there in the first place.

Excellent. This is an excellent app 🙂

Auto renewed even though it was set up to. Can’t cancel it anywhere

5 stars. This is awesome i learned so many new words in one day i almost can connect with my family

Great learning model. I’ve been very happy with how this app teaches. Repetition works well for me, but also the visual aids and progression are really well done. It learns from your weaknesses and alters the learning plan appropriately. You never feel like your being punished for not getting the right answer, instead the learning model adjusts to help you proceed.

Hate the way apps are now. 5 min then you have to wait 10 hours or $90 for one language or 130 for all...hey can’t afford to buy no problem you can just pay 9.99 a month instead...plz

Good. You learn a lot of vocabulary and its easy to memorize the words, but for improvement I think the app should have writing practice, and vocal check for the pronunciation! It would be very wholesome then, and I think everyone will enjoy it!

My child paid for this app and hated it. She was incredibly dissatisfied I tried it and it tried to make me and my daughter say swear words in Japan I am unimpressed pls download this app. I’m going to have a word with my lawyer 😈 how corrupt are people these days 🙄 me and my 4 year old son are no longer going to use this app. NEVER PLAY THIS GAME/LEARNING FIGURITIVE

Issue with topic selection. As a beginner of learning French, I have millions of terms and phrases to learn for more practical daily use, rather than those transsexual/transgender topics! I don’t mind learning these, however I found it way too much and unnecessary!

Latin. I Love this App to pratice my Hebrew/Greek/Arabic For my studies in Theology I really hope you guys do it too In Latin wich is the official language Of the Vatican State . Thanks Drops

sentence formation. It’s great for increasing your vocabulary but it doesn’t explain or drill any sentence structure. In order to have a conversation with somebody your going to have to go outside this app. Duolingo doesn’t include Tagalog but their Japanese course was far superior at teaching you how to actually arrange the words they were teaching you so you could make your own sentences. In comparison to duolingo this app is honestly more akin to the fanciest flash card app you can find.

Truly amazing app. Loved this app from first time trying it! Got to learn Persian and many other languages & dialects. The exercises are so entertaining as well as educational

Pretty good app to learn vocabularies. But the timer of the app takes forever to load.

Best🤗. Learning a lot and love the graphics

First time user.. Creative ideas for word reinforcement. Some UI was not intuitive to me, but most was great!

Simple, easy to use. I like the repetition. However, some of the graphics make no sense in matching up to the words. Additionally, I’d like the option of seeing no Chinese characters and use pin yin only. A Now that I’ve used this for a while I’d also like the option to not see words that I don’t want to learn at that point in time or have them come up when practicing. May 26: display on iPad must be improved.

Pretty good. Makes Hebrew seem easy

Excellent app to learn vocabulary!. They have an outstanding customer service, they really read your suggestions and promptly act upon it.

Feedback. I don’t like to start from zero, and I didn’t find the option for testing my level and it start with something more challenge

Fun!. I really enjoy this way of learning, makes it easy!

So far pretty intuitive and cool!. Not bad at all I was able to really zone out and understand words at a pretty quick pace it’s fun and works so far!

Using for a year in French and Spanish. Drops is a great way to increase vocabulary. I appreciate the quick 5 minute lessons and the ability to pick topics. I’m using both Spanish and French. Topics are frequently added and range from very basic like days of the week to very specific, for example halloween or pride month. I find it a helpful adjunct to Duolingo, which is more linear, especially with the newest update. Flaws? Drops really only teaches vocabulary. Absolutely no grammar. Definitely need another source for that. I’m most frustrated with Spanish, where it’s not unusual for the spoken prompt to not match the written one. For instance, spoken may say “gastar” but written yo gasto. (To spend, I spend). Occasionally they don’t go together at all. The article is commonly left off or switched from definite to indefinite. Not generally a deal breaker if you have some background, but frustrating. And no easy place to report. French is much better for that. Overall a useful app to add vocabulary, but certainly can’t stand alone!

My Drops review. Great app, annoying free version. You may be forced to buy the full app but I think it’s worth it. The more words you learn the more comfortable and confident you get about speaking a new language, especially if it words that you use regularly in your own native language. I’d like Drops to add a feature where we can eliminate some certain words or reduce their frequency in our practice, if we find that they are not words we use much of at all, so we can focus on the ones we are more likely to rep. For example I’m learning Spanish and in the food section, I was taught the word ‘la berenjena’ for aubergine. To be honest, I had no idea what that was, then I found out that’s like an eggplant. Needless to say aubergine doesn’t come round often in my discussions. So maybe later when I know the words I use more frequently, then knowing what an aubergine is would come in handy as I’m more likely to remember it. So yh, a usefulness tab or personal word list section would be great.

Nice vocabulary review so far. Have only been using Drops (German) for a couple of months, to help refresh and retain my basic German skills. I use a couple of other apps as well and a fresh approach adds variety. I have 2 bits of feedback to the developers: 1) what’s with the constant, nearly daily updates coming into the App Store? They say the same update explanation for weeks and if there’s nothing new to report, why are you needing to update? It’s annoying and gives appearance you have something to hide, or just doing it to draw attention to yourselves. Once you announce we can all “learn Maori”, you don’t need to repeat it—tell us what you are fixing, or what NEW thing adding since added Maori, for example. 2) I just started in Essentials and am hoping I can remember how to tell the cutesie “ghost” graphics apart (e.g., both emphasize hands for hello and goodbye) compared to the more realistic icon used for “mir gefällt ... nicht”. I do realize it is not easy to show some concepts with a single simple graphic or icon. The foods, cooking items, etc., were done excellently. But mostly, what is going on with the constant UPDATES?!? Thanks, keep up the enthusiasm.

The Language-Learning Game is On!. Drops is such a unique language learning app, with a variety of languages and a number of challenges to help you recall the words you are learning. It’s like flash cards but so much more interesting, because Drops uses its different forms of its challenges to keep you motivated to learn instead of memorize. For example, I am learning Japanese, so the word in Japanese and in English is first presented, and then I will be given challenges to match the Japanese word to the English word from a selection of 4 options, match the Japanese word to one of two icons that represent English words, confirm if the word and its meaning are correctly matched, and so on! The 5 minute length of each session fit into your schedule easily, and the topical nature of the words and phrases they choose to teach you are very practical: common words and phrases you’ll actually need to use in your target language!

I mean it’s alr. I’ve been on the search for a new language learning app for my Japanese. I mean I'm not complaining and I like the animations and personalization of the app, it was just a little hard for me to navigate. It wasn’t really made clear what was premium and what wasn’t so I found myself in rage rather than a learning experience 😅. Overall, I think this should be of assistance in your language learning goals- like as a refresher or quick vocab study- but I don’t think this should be your main app if your trying to learn Japanese (seriously, that is). It felt more like a casual approach and didn’t really explain right off the bat what stuff meant and how the language works somewhat. It just shoved your favorite things in your face with characters most don’t know how to read, and I feel like Google translate can do that if I wanted it to. I mean I’m just saying, if you want to learn Japanese seriously instead of a couple phrases, this ain’t the app for you. Props to all the developers where all props are due, but please fix this and I’ll fix my review :)

I love it (with a caveat). I love Drops. The Spanish (Castilian) categories are unique and interesting and the art really helps to reinforce the words in my mind. Using Drops daily and working achieve 100% completion on each category really increases my recall. If you can, I recommend buying the premium subscription (fortunately, it is on sale several times a year and is well worth the money) and setting your daily session length to 15 mins, if you're serious about increasing your vocabulary quickly. It has worked wonders for me! There is only one drawback to the app for me, but unfortunately it’s a big pet peeve. While I understand this is not designed to be a grammar app, there should be more of a focus on verbs, especially for people who are newer to the language than I am. Including only present tense, first-person conjugation of verbs in decks (often with random context) feels confusing, and I’m pretty proficient. I can only imagine this problem could be more frustrating and confusing for newer learners. Why not include verb categories, with the option to review them by tense and mood, for example?

Necessary language skills.. The app functions (technically) very well from what I’ve experienced. The method, I’m not sure is right for me. Matching pictures to correct/incorrect, multiple choice and what I can best describe as a word search, can teach you words and phrases (provided you associate the pictures with them), but it’s not much for conversation. I’d like to point out in the picture for “disculpe”; the girl looks offended, like he spilled his drink on her and is about to get knocked upside the head, just sayin. There is another popular app that uses 100% translation to learn, with some (very few) insights on sentence structure and grammar - I think this, while not free - is probably a better way to learn. It does what it does well and for the average person on vacation, is likely all you really need to find your hotel and avoid starving to death. If your goal is fluency, you’ll probably want something more in-depth and definitely an actual person to converse with before hopping a plane and pretending your a local.

“Just right” vocab drill app. Drops gives me the time-spaced repetition that is customized for my best learning. Vocab is sorted into relevant categories, which helps me choose my priorities rather than random lists. I can save my favorites and practice them when I want. It does the work of organizing and remembering my lists so that I’m not sitting with documents or carrying notebooks. It’s all in hand. They do seek to improve the images they use, so, like me, Drops is a dynamic work in progress. There are so many language options! I don’t love EVERY image, but even disliking an image can help me recall the word. There are several strategies for learning, drilling, and reviewing built in. I chose a 5 minute session for every day, but usually do more. I succeed with all of the challenges, so I know that I’m accomplishing something even if I feel like I’ve hit a plateau. AND - it’s definitely possible to use with or without a subscription. There are no points or tokens or other units to earn to recover streaks or to add stress about maintaining a world rank (might be different without subscription, but I don’t think so). It’s very user friendly, gives me words that I learn from other resources (trustworthy vocab), and never makes me feel awful if I miss a day (rarely!). The challenges help to establish a minimum effort commitment that brings results over time. What can I say? ¡Me gusta muchisimo!

DROPS 1st lesson awesome!!! Tagalog language.. I’ve been searching for FILIPINO/TAGALOG for SPEAKERS of the ENGLISH language program for 4 years. Yes that long! The majority language apps teaching Tagalog/filipino are extremely rare with the exception of Rosetta Stone and some traditional old style grammar laden, paid or free apps. Even Duolingo does NOT offer TAGALOG for English Speakers. I’ve Been begging them since day one! The first lesson of DROPS was FUN and FREE! And It was even offered before the trial version! DROPS taught me 5 Tagalog words quickly in only 10 minutes! Of course, review is necessary. DROPS language method is easy and reinforcement was immediate. The lesson uses words and pictures in different formats which makes word retention easy and interesting. Lessons are VISUAL and AUDIO! Premium is $64/USD with a 7 day trial period. I will very likely buy premium after the trial. DROPS app looks VERY PROMISING! THANK YOU DROPS for including TAGALOG for speakers of English! Plus, thank you for a FUN lesson! Much appreciated!!!

A👏🏼 MA 👏🏼 ZING 👏🏼(ish). I FREAKING LOVE THIS APP! I am currently taking my second year of French, and going to Quebec in March. I need to learn more and become more comfortable with speaking it. Other apps like Duolingo work really well, but this just blows them all out of the water! The exercises work on singular words, and is just really fun! However, there are some downsides. First off, Duolingo allows you to work on full phrases and sentences as well as vocabulary, and I have only seen vocabulary on Drops. Also, you feel a little rushed with the five minutes. Lastly, it feels like that you can’t do a whole lot with the free version, and the premium version is way too expensive! I get that there are a lot more benefits with the premium version, but a lot of those should be part of the free version, and then lower the premium price down. That would attract more people to subscribe. Overall, pretty good and highly recommended. It just feels really limited to the normal user and a price of maybe $40 per year would be more appropriate.

Guys if it aint broke don’t fix it. While the app itself is amazing and desevers nothing less than 5 stars, this new update os horrible. And this is coming from a guy who probably wrote an app review about 3 times total in his lifetime. I love this app, and everytime I open it I am filled with joy and happiness as the layout is flawless and the effectiveness could not be better. But after this update I had to close out of it after only 3 minutes. The layout is horrific to the eye now, with everything on screen almost going off the edge of the screen such as the back button and the time, the live motion of the icon that comes with the words is super distracting and messes me up when choosing the right answer, and ESPECIALLY when it’s one where you have to spell the word out. So so SO distracting. And also its moving alot slower and less responsive now. I almost don’t even want to use the app anymore, and this is sad because when I help people learn new languages, I give them a list of about 4 programs that is all the need for effective language learning and this app is one of the 4. And if I, someone who has been using it for months on end doesn’t even want to look at it, what can I expect from them? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, and this was a huge step backwards guys.

Every feature you’d ask for. I have only used drops for japanese trying out the free five minute daily seasions and i was so impressed that i took advantage of the year end sale because this app is a must have for language learning. I really enjoy the fact that it covers everything from the alphabets to many different topics and the attention to details is what makes you feel that this app is so worth it. You are surprised how when you click on one of the images it gives you the name in english and then you have to remember what it is in japanese. Theres a ton of little features like that that make you think how well thought out the app is. The more you mess with it the more you find and youre never left feeling like you have to wing it by yourself. It is better than the auto-didactical course that i bought. Definitely worth the investment, apecially seeing how it has 45+ languages to choose from. Very happy.

Pleasant vocab builder. This has really grown on me. I started doing the free sessions and eventually upgraded. There is a lot of content and can help keep you in a regular learning habit. It won't replace other language tools such as Duolingo or textbooks since it doesn't cover grammar. Also it isn't great at spaced repetition but I find that by putting a batch of forgotten words into favorites and then resetting my progress on my favorites I can then study them up again until I have a better grasp of them. (Then I remove everything from favorites and build a new batch). I will also intentionally fail a choice if I feel I didn't know it well enough : recognition is not enough. There are a couple little things that I would like to see fixed but not enough to drop my rating to 4 stars. I feel that the lifetime purchase was well worth it because I continue to use it, enjoy it and learn with it.

A great start. This app has been a nice supplement to coursework and other apps I’ve completed and utilized to learn Arabic over the last year. It really helped solidify alphabet memorization and has added some nice words to my vocabulary while also greatly assisting with my reading skills. For the most part the pronunciation is done well, even for a language with Arabic that has so many dialects. After using the app 4+ times a week for the last month or so, I have started to notice words not being spelled properly, inconsistencies (especially with Al- before words) and it also does not teach you basic things such as the day of the week or month, so you do not get to practice those much. With that being said, the word dojo ended up being my most used feature now that I’m over 700 words. All in all, definitely recommend but do suggest consulting with someone who speaks the language alongside this tool, as there are cultural nuances not exactly covered in the lessons or things that are just off, particularly for Arabic.

Overall a Great Platform!. I’ve been using Drops for years and I personally find it very effective in language learning. I love being able to slow down words and appreciate that every word has pronunciation attached. That being said, I’ve encountered several bugs over the years that have detracted from the experience. The current one I am dealing with is the Review Dojo. I keep getting the same words, and once I review them, it repeats the same words, in the same cycle, here and there throwing in one or two new ones before we are back to repeating. I have hundreds of words I have learned and it is currently fixed on 19 of them, which is a bit discouraging on the days I don’t feel like absorbing new info but rather refreshing the old. Still, coming back on and off for several years says something—this is the language learning platform I always come back so, and I appreciate it extensively. I do hope they bring in some way to teach grammar eventually.

Good so far. I just downloaded this game, I’ve used other apps before as well, but I’m glad that this one focuses on pictures as well as making you spell it, I also say the new language every time and it’s good to get the mindset put in to memorize each pic with the word or phrase. All in all it’s pretty fun, guess we will see how it pans out. Update; As I continue along with the game it is really amazing as to what you can learn but it seems there are a lot of things that you do learn that are seemingly the same thing so it would be nice if when you get the answer correct for when you are trying to repeat a word, it shows you what the word means again so that you know that’s what it means. Obviously I can’t commit this game to as much time in the day that I would like, so I can’t remember some of what the words I’ve already learned mean, that’s why it would be nice for there to be the definition of what the word means in the other language after you get it right.

This app is the absolute best. This app I highly recommend people to download it. This is the best app that I have ever downloaded to learn German. I always wanted to learn German this is the perfect app for learning this. I highly recommend this so much that I recommended it to my best friend and all of my people in my contacts that are struggling with A language. This is the fastest and easiest way to learn a new language . I don’t think there any mistakes with this app I think this app is perfect for beginners I know I keep saying that I highly requested this but I just really do and this is a really good app! It’s a five star for me no doubt this app has a bunch of languages and I love the font and background of it it is really pretty and and also motivates you to learn the language that you want to learn and it has daily reminders which I think is perfect for beginners app so you can do this on a daily basis and not make it hard. It is also fun to use because it makes you like match things and and say them and it’s really fun I’ll tell you what!😍

Excellent. I really love this app. It’s like everything I’ve ever wanted from other language learning apps. I like the way it’s organized and how i can learn what i think is useful (rather than what someone else thinks I should do.) So I can learn airport words in Romanian and about events in Portuguese and cooking/restaurant words in Korean. They even had a section for popular topics (like K-Pop and K-Dramas for Korean which I didn’t use but think it’s a great idea for other people!) You can switch between languages easily. It encourages you to maintain a streak with little bonuses when you do. The unpaid version isn’t too bad either. I’ve done that one for a while and it’s not perfect obviously because it’s free but it’s still really good. I do wish I could change the colors on the app. I hate purple and green but that’s not a big deal. I also wish it allowed you to interact a little more with your friends profiles so it could be a bit more fun or competitive to play with my friends. I haven’t found out how to play with Korean keyboard vs regular English keyboard yet but I had it at some point so I think I accidentally changed something in my settings and that’s my fault I think. I just can’t find out what. Overall; great app. I actually recommend it. It has really helped me with my Korean significantly more than any other language app has. I’ve tried a lot.

Rapid fire gamification. Rather fun! Edit: still love it! Really like that the lesson time can be adjusted as I set my initial goal too high. 15 minutes of French is too much right now considering I’m also trying to make flash cards and review outside of the app and through other lesson styles, while the original 5 minutes doesn’t give me too many words. The only thing I can think to improve on is the (no) vs (yes) cards that move off the screen to the left and right. If it’s a YES, that’s great and I reaffirm a vocabulary word or phrase. But if it’s NO or wrong, I can’t seem to review what the meaning to the wrong or “non answer” was. I’d like to be able to tap or swipe or something in order to relearn what the other answer was. I feel like right now I try to think of the correct answer (example: “is this image correct for ‘un garçon’?”) AND what the other answer should be (“no, that image belongs to ‘une fille’.”) Thanks for making a great app!

Fantastic app!. I got my bachelor’s degree in Spanish and have studied a lot about second language acquisition, and now train Spanish teachers. I like Drops more than other language apps for two reasons. First, it uses pictures to help you associate the words you’re learning with the object itself, rather than relying on translation from the native to the target language (and vice versa). Second, their different levels are loosely based on ACTFL’s proficiency guidelines. My only complaint is that thus far, I haven’t encountered any lessons on grammar. To truly advance beyond novice level proficiency and create in the language you must have the opportunity to learn and use grammar, otherwise you’ll be stuck at novice level imitation. (But for that reason, I also don’t believe the claims of ANY app that you can become fluent by just using their app.) All things considered, Drops is very well thought out and structured. It can help you effectively build your vocabulary.

Almost perfect. So I really do like the app. I like how active it is in getting me to learn my vocabulary (or review what I know). I get bored very easily and for this app I was able to sit here and continuously do the app activities. -The voice was very clear and it was easy for me to repeat after them because of it. - The pictures are very self-explanatory and it help me connect the vocabulary word to the picture instead of translating it in my head. - The only downside was when it came to the spelling portion of it because this app is trying to train me to read the romanization instead of the actual language. So when it asked me to spell a simple word like “hello” in Korean it gives me an “annoghasayo” (something like that) when it should be spelling “안녕하세요”. *Seriously everything other than the spelling is great but I hate that I have to train my brain to learn romanization that I would never use in the future. But if you’re someone who really doesn’t want to learn the alphabet of your perspective language ...sure this would be perfect.

Its fun but. I am learning Korean and Spanish (i got this app because of Korean though) and I am also using Duolingo which I know has flaws and is not the best for becoming fluent٫ so I tried this app. Its fun٫ the designs are pretty; and its very simple so it dosent take very long to figure out. All you have to do is swipe and it tells you what each word means so its kinda like a memory game. What I hate about it though is that you can only use it for 5 minutes a day. FIVE MINUTES A DAY. I know if you get the paid version it gives you more time but that is ridiculous. You shouldn't pay to be able to use an app longer. I know that other apps do free trials where you can only use it for a few days before you have to pay but this is way worse. If the app has a free trial at least you can make the most of the app while its still free٫ but this dosent even let you do that. It would be a good app if it let you use it for however long you want. The app itself is fun٫ its just that you should be able to use it for more time. Even change it to 20 minutes or an hour would be nice. BUT FIVE MINUTES!? Is this app desperate or something

Quick and easy, very beneficial. I decided to try this app for a year before getting Premium to find out if I’d actually use it. Long story short, I ended up getting Premium before the year was out. It uses several different ways to help you remember words and phrases, and even more if you have a subscription. It has helped vastly in improving my vocabulary in all my target languages. There are some things I don’t like, like how you can’t review old words in the free version. Or how, if you start your 5 minute lesson before midnight, but end after midnight, your streak is broken. But I feel the benefits outweigh that, especially the wide selection of languages that you can’t even get in Duolingo (like Tagalog), and how you can pick your subject of choice, whether you want to learn emergency travel phrases, a new alphabet, or religious and political terms. I intend to use this app for a long time.

The price doesn’t compare to the value of the app. it’s about $70 to get a year of Drops Premium, and the app certainly helps, but some of the features only available with premium are pretty annoying. For example, I’d love to use the app more than 5 minutes a day, but in order to do that it’s $8.99 a month, or $70 a year. I personally think it should be upped to 10 minutes for free, other than 5 minutes, most of the time is taken up by cycling through words that you already know, and there’s not much room for error to actually learn your mistake. Added to this issue, none of the other features of the app make me feel that premium is adequate to the price, let alone make me want to spend money on it. To me, it seems like a money grab. I understand that funding is required for development of your app, but maybe add more to the benefits of paying or make it less tedious to use the app for free. Thanks for making it easier to study Spanish, I love the idea of the app, even though the paywall is pretty invasive, I hope this persuades you to make changes to the app, and I invite you on our journeys to learn a new language. Thank you!

Best Language Learning App Ever!. This is the best language learning app I’ve ever encountered! This is far better than Rosetta Stone and much more cost efficient. It’s initially free but I paid for yearly subscription which was only about $35 and I have full access to 31 languages. I will eventually pay for the lifetime access which is a 1 time payment of approximately $200 which I think is a great investment! I’m currently learning 3 languages and gave myself a goal to master all 3 by the end of 2019. I started in December 2018 and now it’s February and I’m already having basic conversations and recognize what I’m reading. It’s designed in a game/picture style and it’s VERY VERY easy to retain what I’m learning. This app is helping me career wise and I assume will boost my salary once I’ve mastered at least 2 of the languages. I can get paid as a freelance translator and this will open doors for travel as well. I recommend this app to ALL of my friends and family and even coworkers- no more language barriers and more opportunities to come!

Great app. When I started to look for a new language to learn, I went to learn with something different that normal, so I found Drops. It is one of the greatest apps that I have used, and I have tried at least 20 different apps, and none were as great as this one. There are two things I have to complain about. Some images look like others, and I would like it if they were colored or something to make them more unique to the eye. The other thing is that the time is to little to do any real learning. I can’t afford to go for the premium, but I know those are maybe a little high for prices. The time allotted for work should be ten minutes instead of the five now. Also, you should have a thing where if you go on consistently for a certain time, and get premium for a little while. Would push me to go on more that I do. The app told me to leave a review, so I thought this would be a good way to get my opinion out to the developers.

Heavily Recommended. I got this app to learn Korean because I wanted to be able to understand Korean without subtitles or translators. This app isn’t a fix-all. It doesn’t explain sentence structure or conjugation. But, I would recommend it since it has greatly increased my vocabulary. In the past over a month that I’ve had this app, I’ve only missed studying once. It was a sad day for me. When I’m using this app, I really enjoy learning! It has a gorgeous design and it works super well for me. Why did I write a review and not just rate it five stars? Two reasons: I wanted to express my appreciation and bring something to the developers’ attention. I studied Native Korean Numbers before studying Numbers and when I have to match them, I can’t tell the two apart in Numbers. I’ll get a question with two of the same number as an option and I won’t know which is the right one. Whether you do anything with this information is ofc up to you, but I thought I’d let you know. If you read this far and are still wondering whether or not to get the app, I would go for it!

Close but impossible. I really like this app. I like the idea of 5 minutes a day. I like how many languages are available. And I really like the methods. In fact, this is the only review I’ve ever given so that tells you something. But there’s a huge disconnect. I’m trying to learn the vowels in Hindi and half the time the sounds aren’t available and the written vowels don’t make ANY sense. How does ‘oi’ translate to an ‘oooo’ as in oops!?? And all the vowels are like that. The sound ‘aw’ is spelled ‘ai’ or something like that. If I could just hear the sound then I wouldn’t have to memorize that oooo looks like ‘oi’ AND the Hindi symbol for that sound. You’re making my brain do so much unnecessary work and for that I am giving up. Or at least will learn the vowels in some other app so I can come back here, check it off the list, and then see if the next level is designed better. I’m definitely not ready to upgrade to premium that’s for sure. I love that this is designed for visual learners. That’s needed. But learning a language isn’t completely visual. You have to speak it and hear it too. If you’re going to focus on visual anyway - at least make the visual cues make sense.

Drops is especially good for VOCABULARYiu!. Drops was a cookie-cutter app which pasted a bunch of vocabulary words onto a premade set of Europeans languages by a group of folks in Estonia. When they got as far as Russian & Arabic their cookie cutter didn’t work and they now have to do a bunch of things, but they’ve got the East Asian languages under control. This doesn’t mean DROPS is your passport to another language. I’m using it for French and Japanese. A fair amount of preparation is required for a person to be doing in Japanese. I’ve been studying for about a and I am just now starting vocab training. You need to work on noun/verb agreement, get far enough into sentences to learn how the sentence structure is define. Fortunately it will have a fairly simple structure (SOV). But you need other things: I have 8 apps total that I use right now. I’ve got some more waiting in the wings. I highly recommend this app for doing vocabulary! And they’re working. Hard— new content almost every week!!

Love it!. A coworker of mine showed me this app when I told them I wanted to start learning Japanese and I love it! It offers many languages to learn from, and you can learn multiple at once. I’ve been using it to freshen up and expand on my Russian as well! The annual cost is a bit high, but I personally think it’s worth it if you’re serious about learning a new language. Another thing I really like about this app in particular is that it focuses on taking just as little as 5 minutes each day to help you study a new language, and if you miss a day, it’s no biggie. They aim to build your habit by encouraging you to not miss two or more days in a row. You can also choose whether or not you want to memorize specific words that it provides for you. Also, the graphics are smooth and appealing to the eye! Overall, it’s a great app- it’s fun and it doesn’t really feel like you’re studying at all! Would definitely recommend this above some of the other language-learning apps I’ve tried in the past.

NOT ENOUGH LESSONS. This language app has a lot of potential, but it is too short with only a few thousand vocabulary words. If you go through the entire app, you’ll quickly discover that 1/4 of the words are completely useless and will rarely ever be used in the real world. Please take out useless words like Scone, Rhubarb, Catnip, and throw out the entire Herbs category. These words are useless and take away from other useful words that could make this app truly special. For a paid language course, one would expect upwards to 4,000 to 5,000 words. But this app falls way short. The Cantonese vocabulary has like 60,000 character's and even more when you add in the slang, yet this paid app can only pump out a few thousand useful words. To read a Chinese newspaper you need to know about 3,000 to 4,000 of the most common characters. It doesn’t help the learner when 1/4 of the characters in this app are useless in a real world situation. Please… add more verbs and more sentences to this app. That’s what’s seriously lacking. And boost the vocab to at least 4,000 of the most useful characters. If you do these simple things, your app sales will soar. Believe me!

Very good, could be better. I really enjoy this app and use it every day. Love the visual approach and the five minute chunks. It’s the Japanese learning app I use the most. It’s because I use it so much that I’m frustrated with a couple of flaws. First of all, they could choose the words a bit better. They sometimes seem to give you more obscure ones instead of more common ones, like in the cooking category where you learn fruit press, whisk and strainer but I haven’t seen oven, stove, or plate yet. Also I’d really like to see less of an emphasis on random stuff and more on adjectives that you use every day. Also, they put a lot of emphasis on helping you do a streak of many days in a row. But the app sabotages your streak by completely resetting the day if you want to do another five minute chunk, and if you don’t complete that chunk, the day counts as zero. The other day I put in something like 27 minutes but it counted the day as 0 because I hadn’t finished that last chunk. I do recommend this app but I would do so even more strongly if these two things were remediate!

update after 1 year & membership below. One of the best learning tools I’ve used. Recommended by YouTuber . Upgraded since I’m learning two languages right now. update: well it’s been a year or two and i still love drops and it’s still on my phone (many don’t make it that long) but i have lost my zest because it’s a little too much matching, spelling and i feel like it’s sometimes a chore to do a lesson. maybe im not learning much… im testing out others and drops is seriously great as a progressive kinda app, perfect for basics. but i need something a little less rudimentary. i see for (one of my languages) korean it’s really aimed at teenagers or people who are not serious given the “kpop/kdrama “topics. at first it was admirable but now its almost insulting. i am a serious learner and its not challenging me enough or keeping my interest which is why i dropped my membership but… i still like the app and its still one of the better ones just needs to be paired with another

Get this app if you’re learning a language. If you’re reading this I just started using this app and they have taught me so much! I'm learning French!! Whoever made this app: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I have been trying to get an app that doesn't keep making you use a free trial. I'm using the free one without anything paid and I've already learned so much. I recommend this app because if you are trying to learn the basics of learning a language Drops will get the job done. This is better than other apps I've used like Falou. Falou makes you pay. I am going to continue to use this app to learn more and more languages. If you don't want to learn any language I think you should because it can help when you're traveling somewhere and they speak a different language instead of using google translate or other translators you could use this app to prepare! I am going to recommend this app to my friends and family. I appreciate you guys! Have a spectacular day!!

Спасибо!!!!!!!!. I am an American-born, Slavic-blooded (mainly Polish) guy who took up languages as a hobby. I actually started with German on Duolingo but then moved to Russian. Duolingo’s course wasn’t the best with Russian, nor is it with Polish. Russian in particular wasn’t very good because they don’t teach you the alphabet well. This app’s Russian course has an entire section devoted to the Cyrillic alphabet, and it helped A TON with learning basic Russian. And the fact that you launched a Polish course!! Polish pride!!! 🇵🇱 All I can say is a response, a culmination, a compilation, of everything you’ve taught me, and summed up... that’s a simple спасибо. спасибо for helping me learn Russian. спасибо for helping me connect more with my people, my blood, my family. спасибо for also launching a Polish course so I can connect and learn even more! спасибо for making your app. I really and truly appreciate it, and I can’t wait to start learning Polish and use the language skills you have taught me to get into business and a career path I know I will enjoy. спасибо, и пока.

Truly one of the best language learning platforms. It’s very simple. A visual and audial experience that doesn’t do the work for you and helps you actually understand the worlds you’re learning. You’ll go through the motions of writing the words and letters by tracing them for languages such as Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, etc. each language has a similar structural setup so if you choose to learn multiple at once, they follow the similar format of introducing the word or phrase being spoken, showing the visuals of what it is, and allowing you to repeat it for dialect practice, as well as selecting the right letters to form the words. Also wishful thinking is to implement a review section that would be great to listen to while going to sleep so I can solidify what I’ve learned in my head. An example would be for a voice to repeat the words I’ve learned and reviewed and translating them in the process. “[This word] means [that word]”. It may sound silly but I’ve found that helps me learn a language considerably faster. I truly think this app should be in everyone’s Top 3 Language Learning Apps.

The free trial is super good!. The trial for seven days is super good, it makes people interested in learning because the way the app makes studying easy. However, I few questions. This is the second Review because I haven gotten a reply, Can you offer me a lifetime? price for the app, my one year Subscription is about to be over. And the reason I’m asking this is because at this time I don’t want to look for another app ! Thank you 🙏 I will be waiting for your reply!!! One of the question is: Why is the premium advertised at $99 dollars in the App Store but then in the app the cost is $159, so what is the real price for the lifetime? My second question is; if you buy the lifetime, let’s say for French, can you access all of the other languages such as italian 🇮🇹 and Japanese 🇯🇵? I hope I get a reply.. and my last question, can you access this app in all of your devices like your iPads and a Mac Pro ? I have 4 iPads, a Mac Pro and an iMac 🖥 .. it would be nice if you can make this app available for the other devices. I’m interested, and my family too. 🙏😁

Great for learning a tough language with a new alphabet. The flashcard-style makes it easy to learn those tough languages. I don’t have to know a word or new letter— I need only to recognize it among others. I was having great difficulty getting started learning a whole new language that was unlike any others I knew. It was completely different from both my first and second language. The alphabet and grammar were entirely foreign. Having made no progress using other apps, I searched for something that would get me over the hump. Drops did just that and allowed me to move forward in my other language apps. Today I still use Drops to enlarge my vocabulary. It focuses entirely on vocabulary and short phrases. That means you’ll still need something else— another app— but it remains relevant. I’m able to breeze through the vocabulary part of my other apps and focus on what they offer. My other apps build grammar and fluency—something Drops lacks (but it’s ok).

THE BEST LANGUAGE APP IVE TRIED (and i’ve been looking for a app to learn serbian for 4 years). i’ve been trying to learn serbian for YEARS now and haven’t found a free app that works for me. either their learning styles just don’t work for me, or i complete a lesson and then i have to pay. with drop even my 5 minute lesson helped me pick it up super quickly and stay motivated to keep learning! i did upgrade to the premium version when it was half off so that i could learn more often. still there are minimum adds in the free version. honestly i cannot recommended this app enough! i’m 13 and have been trying to learn serbian since i was about 9 and i’ve finally seen progress in my grammar and pronunciation! i highly recommend this app and it’s totally worth the money for the premium version. it’s only about $35 usd if you get it half off and that for a whole year! anyways sorry for rambling!

This is perfect for me!. I’ve been using this app for a few months now. I love how easy it was to switch my account to a new phone even though I’m using the free version. This is an app that I’m always excited to use. I have a hectic lifestyle and I actually become disappointed when I miss a day. The streak recovery always restores my ambition and makes me even more excited to jump back in. I’d say my only issue with this app is that sometimes the pictures can be confusing. For instance I’m learning Japanese and I always get the picture of the lizard and the gecko mixed up. The days of the week are frustrating too because it’s a small calendar and I always have to tap it to see what day of the week it’s showing. Having to tap isn’t too much of an issue though. I am just fine with the free version but I believe I’ll eventually use the paid version just to show my appreciation to the amazing team that created this app!

Great overall. I’ve been using Drops for Korean and it’s been great. I like that you only get five minutes for a day because I can convince myself to do just five minutes a day. I also love the sounds and visuals, it make the learning engaging. I also like that you can always view your word collection, even outside of the five minutes of practice per day. The app was updated about a month or so ago and there is a small change that is unfortunately very frustrating for me. You now you have to click a word you’re reviewing from a list (such as the list of words you worked on that day or your word collection) to be able to hear its pronunciation. This takes up a lot more time than being able to click to hear the pronunciation right from that list. Also, once at the next page, I usually have to click the audio button twice for the pronunciation to finally play. Overall though, I am grateful for this app as it’s helped me a lot with learning Korean vocabulary.

More than meets the eye…. I’ve been a subscriber for a couple of years now and I can truly say I really enjoy this app. I started out with the free version (which was good) but upgraded almost immediately for more control over the daily time limit. So worth it if you are serious about learning a language. I started with one language (Spanish) and was a little disappointed when I reached the end of the available vocabulary soon after subscribing for the second year. Since I didn’t want to waste my investment, I decided to try learning another language (German). That’s when I discovered this app’s magic - the sheer number of available languages, presented in a predictable and logical manner. Consistency, repetition, accountability, challenge, fun… it’s all there. It is part of my morning routine now. I think I’ll try French next. You won’t become fluent solely from this app, but you will gain a solid basis for communication. Well worth the subscription.

Great idea, but would really appreciate this feature:. Hello! I love the idea of this app and even paid for a yearly subscription. If possible I’d really appreciate it if the “Dojo” mode had a feature where we have to type up the Arabic name for the item that we see. I noticed myself picking up hints from the pre-selected letters bobbing around the screen and also from the “blanks” which imply how many letters should be in the word. This “directly type the answer” feature would rly help me get the words to stick and the feature could be toggle on/off as I’m sure some users would not like it on by default. I’m asking for this feature specifically because I’m looking to shift from Anki to Drops completely and the hints that Drops gives to us in the Dojo is what’s holding me back. Also, if the space repetition feature of the dojo could show the data as to how words are being spaced and how often they’re being presented to me that’d just seal the deal and I’d become a permanent customer. Thanks and keep up the good work!!! :)

Word illustration. I am a huge fan of Duolingo so was expecting a lot from this. I tried the free 5 minutes to see how this differed. As a longtime English language teacher I know better than to assume that pictorial representation has equal weight or conceptual meaning across learning groups. The ‘lemon’ could have been any oval fruit. A lemon needs to be yellow, just as a lime is green. The ‘egg’ needs to be cream and needed to continue as the same picture or identical pictograph each time it was dropped. It kept changing its look. The ‘salad’ could have been tossed math equations ! Was there a reason that the design is rather abstract. Real life learning needs real life illustration. The actual tutorial framework is very good, but it is really letdown by the visual elements. Seemed to confuse rather than enlighten. The repetition is both a positive and negative tool. Personally found irritating, but as a teacher I see the the usefulness, although older learners or adults might be put off. I am going to delve deeper into the program as I am hoping the free tutorial was not a fair representation.

Amazing and the Best language kesening app out there. i have been using drops for around 6 months now and i've been able to strengthen my french, spanish, portuguese, russian, chinese, and croatian with like 30 mins of practice each day. I've also been able to learn intermediate levels of japanese, persian, and bahasa indonesia through it as well. As soon as i started using it i didn't really care about the premium subscription because the price is worth is. The only real improvements i would ever consider making especially for an app as already good as it is, would be an increased effort to add more words and rework some of the translations because i noticed many seemed odd through particularly the serbo-croatian group of languages and japanese, as well as new possible features like grammar topics and session competitions among other users or typing/writing practice type. I don't really know i trust the developers and i just have ideas because i love using drops so much😝

Love and Hate. I have a love hate relationship with this app. I love that I have learned a lot when I do use it. I get frustrated with the lack of colors. Not everyone can readily identify shapes. Sometimes I get the answer wrong not because I don’t know it but because I don’t know what the sketch represents. A full color picture would be better for easily identifying the items. Also, some of the voices are weird, for example the German woman. I prefer German to be spoken by a man, like any of those guys from the band rammstein. I am hoping that in the future this app will look more visually appealing and easier. Right now I’m still trying out and looking for a better one even though I paid for a lifetime membership. If you are not serious about language learning and just want a fun game, this is great. I am learning German, Italian, French and brushing up on my Spanish and I would like to delve into these languages more seriously. Thank you for listening.

loving this delicious app 😊. This is suprisingly fun, and fast paced!!! Pure vocabulary, not a replacement for Duolingo, but a wonderful sidekick for Duo 💕 Plus, in this app, I get to learn and hear the "Castilian" Spanish words as spoken in Spain, which I very much prefer to the "Latin American" version offered by Duolingo. (Although I will, of course, use ***both*** apps every day). What a wonderful new discovery Drops is 😂😍 Right now, it's teaching me more yummy foods words than I ever knew existed 🍓🍒🍉🍎😋 Wish list: So far, the "Astronomy" category is inexplicably filled with "geography words. Of the 9 words I've learned in "Astronomy" so far, 5 were (earth) geography terms rather than astronomy terms. Nothing against geography or the continents, but I expected to learn Spanish and French words about space and other planets and stars in the "Astronomy" category. Please transfer the geography words to their own "Geography" category, and add many, many, many more "Astronomy" words to the "Astronomy" category, I beg you 🙏😌

Get this app:). I was bored and I decided to try and learn a new language. I got like 4-8 apps and this was the only one I liked :)) I would recommend it I have only had it for five minutes and I know fruits, breakfast, mushroom, bread, cheese, egg, fish, fork, and knife. I still haven’t mastered these words completely but it is a lot for five minutes. These are just basic words because I have never learned another language and I need to start slow and at a beginner level. Some things I love about this app is it teaches you visual learning , listening learning, and teaches pronouncing at a slow pace. Some more things that I LOVE about this app is that even after you are done with the lesson, you can go to “collections” and see the words you learned. If you click on them it pronounces it for you, this really helps me because i like learning new things but if this feature didn’t exist, I don’t know what I would do :)I love this app thank you for reading this hope you have a wonderful day and please make sure to eat and stay hydrated.

Decent for vocab but confusing and annoying. Can be good for learning vocab, but sometimes a random phrase is thrown in where you haven’t been taught most of the words in it, so understanding it properly is impossible and memorising it is hard. I wish it was more systemic in its teaching. I use it for Thai, and sometimes it will add the polite ending onto words/phrases, and other times it won’t. Makes it hard to know whether the word is part of the actual phrase or just the addition of the polite ending. Similarly, when learning verbs, half of them have “I” put on the beginning, and half of them don’t (e.g. I eat vs eat). Inconsistency like that is really confusing. I paid for the premium version because it’s good to have apps where you hear the pronunciation of the word you’re learning, and I do learn things, but I don’t use it often because it’s frustrating. Final thing: every time you finish a vocab set you have to go through several pop-ups of “Congratulations!” “Keep up your streak” “Try quiz mode!” “Do another round of this vocab!” before you can get back to the main page. Feels like being bombarded with ads and I doubt anyone likes it.

Only started recently if your willing to pay its great.. Promising and from a linguistic standpoint it provides a solid method of mnemonic reinforcement of the language. As someone who has a Anthropology and linguistic background, I can see how it differs from a traditional language learning point of view, & that’s not good or bad. Classroom traditional learning usually starts with alphabet, numbers, & structural elements. Drops is a immersion method of learning, & it should be noted that with this method you are positioned to learn the language in a natural methodology. By that I mean you learn in a way that our brain naturally learns a language as a child. This makes the learning process is formatted in the most fluid way for your brain to adopt the use of the new language. The app itself has a paid premium option and 7 day free trial, but The free version only allows the learner to practice for 5 min a day. You can get another min by watching a ad. But the 5 min limit is a negative for myself. However, 5 min daily is likely perfect for other learners optimal outcome.
