Have paid app and still get ADs every time I open. I purchased this app a while ago when it was called something else. Then when the company that currently owns it now bought it,and change the name to SwiftScan, it seems every time that I open the app it asks me to upgrade to VIP for a charge even though I purchased the highest tier available at the time years ago. I’ve reached out to SwiftScan about this issue and they told me to click the top left restore button. however, this does not resolve the issue and I still get this ad every time I open the app. The whole purpose of me buying this app is because it opens fast,But now I have this stupid extra step I have to click through every time I open this app making it not so instantaneous. This is shady business practices and apple as well as customers should be aware what kind of company they are dealing with. Very disappointed!

Updated Review. The developer contacted me and clarified that they had not intentionally taken any features from my original version and there must have been a bug or glitch in the program. I do have all of my features back and am a satisfied customer. PREVIOUS UPDATE: I had complained that features I had paid for had been moved to the subscription version only. I started using the new Notes app instead. I noticed that many many others were complaining of the same thing. We were talking tonight about feeling ripped off and I went into the app to show friends the issues we had…. I was surprised to find that all of my previous features are BACK! It appears at least for now that the authors have reconsidered and realized that they shot themselves in the foot. My review has now gone back to the opinion that this is the best scanning app I have used for my phone. If the authors come up with some cool new features, I will probably be willing to pay (once - not a $10 subscription) to upgrade. Thank you writers of the app for rethinking the business model. You have a happy customer back.

Great app but need to honor previous paid full version without reminders. I purchased the previous version before swiftscan became subscription based. We need a way to completely disable the splash screen when entering the app. It makes the product I purchased almost unusable because the whole point of the product is to quickly be able to open and start scanning right away or access my files which I have scanned. Please provide an option for classic members to not remind about the subscription splash screen.

Go for it. Updated: The developers really did a fantastic job with the v7 update! (And the Sharing menu now works properly.) Original: One of the nicest-looking scanner apps, but doesn’t get the job done. The shadow of your hand and phone always comes up on the document and the filters can’t adequately get rid of it. On top of that, when you click “Share” the Share menu doesn’t show, so the document’s stuck in the app unless you want to email it (I don’t).

Scanbot is one of the best on the App Store. I downloaded scan pro two years ago and forgot I had it on my phone. When I went to download a scanner app recently I took one off of the top of the charts instead of scanbot. Dissatisfied with it, I went searching around for a new app and realized I already had a scanner app installed. I have scan bot a try and was really impressed. It’s best feature, even for the free service, is it’s API integration with 3rd parties. It saved you a ton of time organizing file locations. Well made app, really recommend.

watermark :(. i’ve been using this app for four years; genuinely my favorite scanner app ever. over the years, features have been paywalled, but the basic, easy-to-use functionality was the same, so i personally didn’t mind. however, the app has recently added a WATERMARK to all the scanned documents, only removable through a separate payment, making it virtually unusable for submitting important documents, especially as everything is now online. two stars because it is still unmatched in terms of user interface, but i’m really sad that i basically can’t use this app anymore.

Best to OCR large documents. I am a historian who does a lot of research online. I frequently run across large PDF documents that are scans of older, public domain, books that have not been OCR’d. Scanbot is one of the only iOS apps that I have found that allows me to take those already existing PDF documents, sometimes hundreds of pages in length, and OCR them. The process is a little clunky, but it works and works reliability every time. (The only other iOS app that did this that I know was discontinued last year, and even then it did not work reliably.) This feature also alllows me to OCR documents that I scanned in years ago myself and make them searchable. So kudos to the developers for including this capability.

Scanbot on iPad Pro 2017 / iPhone. I'm a 75 year old housewife, keeping track of our expenses by scanning receipts into .pdf's usually on my iPhone 6S, then sending to iCloud Drive on my MacBook Pro (late 2013). My laptop is in the shop for repair. It will take at least a week to get it back. I continue to scan, now with iPad Pro, sending to iCloud Drive. Scanbot is even better on iPad Pro than iPhone. I am keeping up with the bookkeeping and filing.😌 It might be nice to be able to list store names which are often used, so one could select, rather than retype each time. But if that never happens, I will continue to appreciate Scanbot with all its bells and whistles. Also, Apple is hinting that Bento will no longer be compatible with the upcoming systems. I dream of a companion APP with Scanbot, that would automatically add my scans to a Spreadsheet, with ability to open any actual scan, as well as sort the various columns in the spreadsheet. I know that is dreaming large, but is that ever needed. Thank you for your good work. eHw

Slowly removing features. I paid for the pro version before they switched to the subscription model of $40 / yr. Now they are slowly removing basic features that I paid for before they are charging for a subscription. First it was the constant nagging of their subscription every time I open it. Even when you tell it, no thanks, I don’t want pro, it will remind you in a few days of the subscription offer. Now. I can’t sort my scans into folders since I don’t pay for it monthly. And there are even more ads. Slowly putting basic features behind their paywall. It’s too bad that they don’t honor the purchases of those who paid for the app. I will be removing the app and finding a new one.

SammyDuck. Can’t believe all the new features in Scanbot! I’ll have to reserve judgement at this time, but I’m trying it out, again, this new version, and so far I’m quite pleased with the results. I’d recommend the free or trial version (I’ve used this app irregularly for years) to try it out and see what you get when scanning a print photo or document. Also, import a favorite photo, do some brief editing, and try the art filters, pens, and other art tools. You’ll be intrigued, I believe, but I’ll have to do some followup later.

Make sure you have your game face on.. Granted I haven’t even gotten an opportunity to use the app to the capacity of my own choosing as of yet...I’m still incredibly disappointed that what looked like the introductory page, (showing off all of the features and whatnot) was actually a sorry way for this company to get the customer to buy $8.99+ packages. I’m only 29, and I’m not stupid, but I’ve been extremely sick for a somewhat extended period of time...so yeah, I don’t always have the time or the brain power for tutorials; however, I am SO GLAD that I happened to glance down near the very bottom of that “introductory page” and see those price increases with each extra feature. *Stop patting yourselves on the back for putting the prices in a pretty, unique color from the rest of the page, because you lose the ability to congratulate yourselves when you literally decrease the font by 3 or 4 points* I’ll still use you if your product seems to work well, (although I’ve already noticed that the “free version” charges very high amounts to purchase the credits necessary to use the fax feature.

It was a great app...until recently. Have used this app for years to keep track of receipts for business and it has been everything I could need. It has been amazing. This last month something I was promoted to buy an upgrade and locked out of use of the app. It appeared that in order to access the use of the app and to recover previous scan I would need to purchase an upgrade. This issue was compounded by the fact that, first I’m not sure why I have to buy it b/c it was working finely to this pint and second, every time I tap on any storage options there is an error message so even if I did want to purchase it, I can’t. It at least three days of very concerned on/off searching to figure out how to regain control of the app. I did eventually figure out how to do this, but am no longer anywhere as enthusiastic about this app. To hold my 7 months worth of tax receipts hostage as a marketing tool is a very low tactic. Bottom line, be prepared for a hard sell into their premium tier. This app seems to be more about making money for the developer than the ease of use for the consumer.

Best scanning app. Overall, this is my favorite scanning app. It’s my go-to first choice. Scanbot is quick, nice-looking, and handles multiple use cases. The border detection is quite good, and smart naming and the ability to auto-upload to cloud services are both really nice. The white background scanning capability doesn't seem to really work all that well (at least when last I tried). However, this is not a huge deal, as previous to this, I just got used to putting on a contrasty surface to scan anyway. My only one real complaint is that the iCloud sync causes documents to sometimes reappear after I delete them. iCloud Drive sync issues aren't really something that developers have a lot of control over. It's obvious that the developers of ScanBot made user experience a priority. And that's what makes this my default scanning app (along with the excellent scanning accuracy of course). I do wish it would allow single page scans to be saved as JPEG without having to save to camera roll, as Evernote Scannable can do. In the past, I found the OCR to be completely useless, but in more recent testing, I found that it's either been vastly improved or I was just really lucky with it for a change.

All documents lost. I have been using this app for over 1 1/2 years ever since my wife passed away and I scanned all the death certificates and all the documents and everything needed also this last year I got sick and had all of my medical records scanned my Covid tests my vaccine records blood tests health reports doctors reports all the things that I need to be in contact with including all the bills that I need to pay for medical expenses had several hundred documents scanned in and sorted. Then all of the sudden the application locked up put a red screen when I restarted the iPhone all my documents were gone and there is no back up. Do not trust this application these were some of the only copies of my documents that I had and I just assumed they were backed up to the cloud including a property that I had just purchased and I urgently need to get a document to the bank for tax purposes and it’s all gone

Best app on my phone. I have been using thus app for a few months. I started off with the free version and then purchased it a few weeks later. It has been a lifesaver for countless documents. Besides using it for work, I’ve used it for my kids homework assignments and more. It’s time saving. I’m no longer stressed about loosing paperwork, or misplacing something. When I have forms with signatures, I simply snap away and file them creating my digital back up copy. I highly recommend this app.

Who needs a scanner when you have a phone?. Scanning documents is instantaneous, and it is done on your phone! I really like that I can simply grab my phone to take a picture of an important document and it turns into a PDF. Plus, you can make it color, black and white, adjust the crop, and more. No more scanners, USB's, and running to the nearest office store to pay to have a document scanned. I bought the pro version because I wanted to combine multiple documents into one PDF (a function not available in free version). I also got a coupon to send to a friend who will also get the pro version for free. I am very pleased with this app.

Automatic scanning and fax pricing needs improvement. The automatic scanning algorithm used is very good in that scans are taken quickly when aligned. Although, if you compare to “Genius Scan” you’ll see the algorithm used is little to quick and does not let the user see always when the item to be scanned is aligned and can cause multiple mistakes to happen. Although I’m really liking the dark text quality in black & white scans. Scanbot’s fax pricing is questionable. Both Genius Fax and Scanbot offer 10 pages for $6.99. But Genius Fax offers also 1 page for $.99 cents. It appears the faxing sources are the same, but Scanbot is purposely trying to force you to buy the higher priced $6.99 option to profit the provider and themselves. Additionally, Genius Fax offers the user an option for a fax number and Scanbot doesn’t.

Pretty good app, but.... I have used Scanbot for a few years and was happy with it, however I found I cannot rely on it which makes it unusable for archiving my important documents Often I would notice that some of my scans disappear ( when I scan but do not completely finish, it just disappears without notifying me ). I have lost quite a few important documents this way that I cannot get back anymore I always get my scanned documents copied over to my own storage using the cloud drive functionality , but had issues there and sometimes I get duplicates and sometimes things are missing Especially when they decided to switch to the subscription model, I could no longer transfer my important documents over to storage which made me very angry. I will not pay for this subscription as a couple of the free scanning apps are just fine for the scanning and I can not justify the fees for the difference in functionality. Especially when these changes make me lose documents

Best of 4. Scanbot is my fourth and favorite document scanning app. It finds page edges more reliably than DocScan, Docr or Scanner Pro. When it does miss, the manual cropping control is steadier than Scanner Pro, which was prone to shifting as my finger came off of the screen. The automatic contrast and brightness adjustment usually yields sharp, easily-printed documents, with few grey areas or extraneous dots to slow inkjet printers to a crawl. ID cards with photos, though, often need manual adjustments to make the text and photo good at the same time. Scanbot does not correct distortion from wavy or folded documents. This is only a rare issue for me, but your needs might differ.

Find myself using it more and more and more and.... I really didn’t expect that this app would become a central part of my life. Initially I bought it to scan receipts for an insurance claim. These days I use it almost daily as my primary document scanning and filing tool. Now that it has fax capability it’s replaced another app! One thing I wish for, but haven’t asked for yet, is the ability to combined two or more PDFs, or other types, into a single file. Would simplify tasks such as faxing docs from multiple sources in the cases where I’m not scanning multiple pages at once. Would also allow me to delete another party’s app! Keep up the great work!!

Powerful and easy ocr. Want a more robust import feature.. Thank you for making a really nice app. Mainly, I am looking for a scan/ocr app to easily apply ocr to existing documents on iOS. SwiftScan does it and does it very well: powerful ocr compared to my experience with scanner pro and scan hero. I love the in-app text search after ocr. I wish for a more robust import feature, where I can easily import in SwiftScan from all three sources (camera scan capture, existing photos, existing documents) into one file, like PDFpen scan+ by Smile did very well before they discontinued ocr. Compiling scans from different sources into one file is currently a pain. For your R&D reference, the first step in my workflow is compiling the scan from different sources like hand-written notes, photos and existing docs (add, remove, reorder pages and make light edit). Then ocr my compilation, export the file, create a hyper-link to the file, reference that link on calendar, continue to work and add to the file at a later time from again the same three sources of camera, photos and documents. It will be so nice if I can make SwiftScan my one and only stop in compiling my scans/notes. I appreciate any insights and tips.

Portable doc scanner and fax machine in 1. I'm delighted to have the Scanbot Scanner app on my iPhone. I bought it for the capability to look up barcodes and QR codes and had low expectations for its ability to scan documents into usable .pdfs since I already have a good flatbed scanner. For chuckles I tried the multi-page doc scan, and Scanbot pumped a stack of paper into a useful pdf file in a single bound leaving my flatbed in the dust. A charity where I volunteer has been paying $39 a month for a seldom used fax line so I tried the Scanbot Fax tool, and can say goodbye to the dedicated fax line. I happily recommend the Scanbot Scanner app.

Version 9.0 works for me. Using in iPhone 7 running iOS 12.3.1. Upon installing this latest version the app launched to a black screen and stayed black. I forced-quit the app and launched again and again it launched to a black screen. After letting it just sit for about a minute the black screen went away and the app functions fine. Maybe the app was updating all the scans I had stored to work with this new version? Seems to be faster than prior version as developer says. I noticed a subscription option in the app but I seem to retain all the same full app functionality without paying for that. This is, imo, still the best scanning app available on iOS.

This app is excellent. **update-they changed the name from scanpro and have now gone to subscription payment. It used to be 10-20 bucks and you were done now they want 3 dollars a month. My glowing review is going to change if they don’t grandfather in all of us who purchased pro. I hate subscriptions. Charge me a one time price for your software, one that is fair to you the developer-I don’t expect it to be cheap, but please stay away from these monthly subscriptions. Easily keep all receipts together from travel and organize in iCloud. Easily make copies of all important documents and organize in iCloud folder. Use your phone to scan and immediately access it from your mac or iPad. Fantastic app. One of my favorites. A must have. Business travel tip: on a business trip FORCE yourself to scan every receipt the second you get it, whether at hotel checkout, restaurant, airport, gas station, everything you spend. It takes two seconds to do this. Just make it part of your routine —sign the check at dinner, pull out your phone and scan. Two seconds. Set up the scans to be named with the date automatically and you can add additional words at time of scan or later. If you do this, it makes doing expense reports or invoicing an absolute breeze. Everything is in a folder on your icloud, accessible from your mac or anywhere. I use to dread gathering receipts and doing expense reports. Not anymore. This app makes it easy.

The best quick scan/OCR iOS app. Easy, fast and accurate scanning. App does nearly everything for you, just hold camera over what you want scanned and Scanbot does the rest, automatically finding the document's edges, snapping the picture when steady, cropping appropriately, and optionally uploading to your cloud storage of choice. OCR is fast and accurate. Great UX, fantastic workflow, excellent app all around. Truly the best of the bunch, with frequent updates and enhancements. Pro IAP features (including OCR) well worth the price.

Amazing for a college student.. I have used this app since it was called scanpro and it has never let me down. If you just need a smooth app to scan pages into a hw pdf to submit then look no further. The paid version is great for those who need to take a massive about of scans and need more organization but the free version works just fine for getting a pdf into your icloud shwere you can upload the file to any school website.

Great mobile scanning solution!. Old Pro user here. My scans are automatically OCR’d. If I search in the text pane of the document info the text is found. If I search from the search field on the document list screen the text is not found. The text is found from Spotlight search. It’s as if Scanbot is only searching document names and not text within the document, even though the manual states it should be searching within the document. Edit: I was able to fix the issue by force closing the app and disabling then re-enabling automatic OCR. I edited my original review (above) but my initial review went through anyway. I also received a response from the developer, which is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the great app and support!

Used to be better. I bought this when it was scanbot. They updated to a subscription that allows you to keep your features but hides them to try to get you to upgrade. It is a useful app and works well. I purchased 100 fax credits and only used 30. The other 70 disappeared from my account and they are trying to get me to buy more. After emailing support, I am 2 months in and they don’t respond other than to say “we have received your note and will respond.” I loved the app until the recent changes and moved it from 5 to 3 stars.

Fantastic App / Support. I wrote these guys because I paid for the OCR, but couldn't find a way to use it with my flatbed scanner. I explained what I was trying to do, and they got back to me (on Easter Sunday, no less) to tell me how to do it. Their email was pleasant, easy to follow, and worked like a charm. (I wasn't even expecting a response). Kudos to the developer! The text recognition is probably on par with Acrobat DC (depending on the quality of your original document), but it doesn't retain formatting as well. Ultimately, I got way more than I expected for $5 vs around $149/year for a subscription to Acrobat. I'm very pleased with the purchase, and recommend this app to anyone who needs to archive paper documents in a search-friendly way.

Thankful!. I’m able to do things I have been unable to do for years;...between the learning curve I’ve had in the technology age;...& at the unfortunate realization to the truth of my life’s circumstances @ being helpless throughout my life being alone and helpless to help myself..... Well I’ve set in motion a determination to continue to change all of these things by taking action;...practicing this daily; and w/ GODS HELP and no kidding your app; I am doing things I’ve been waiting to do all my life and never dreamed I would be doing thanks for this ability to see myself actualized in dreams and goals come into fruition!!!!

Love it!. I use this for personal and professional use and couldn't be happier with how well this tool works. I love the ability to make a quick step to send a new receipt to accounting, or to automatically file my receipts in my OneDrive -> Receipts folder. The OCR works great and auto crop is priceless, making the doc look like I used a professional copier to scan it in, yet I can do at any point. I recommend scanning the doc on a flat surface that contrasts well with the document, like a wood surface or dark table. Glass tops don’t work the best, but it can typically find it quick.

Was one of my favorite apps, until.,,. I bought this app many years ago and really enjoyed the speed and accuracy of the scan function. But then they changed the name, and now every time I open the app it prompts me to upgrade to the subscription version which - as I see it - offers absolutely nothing that I need. It getting really frustrating to use the app now that I need to dismiss an upgrade prompt all the time.

Finally!!!. So after nothing but snark and non-answers from customer service, my app FINALLY decided to unlock itself today!!! Luckily I left my folders in my iCloud, so all of my hundreds of important documents were recovered inside the application! BUT the application updated a few months ago and when it did, it erased my ‘Pro’ settings. I had paid for a year and that was deleted. So now that I finally have gotten it to work again, all on my own, btw, I am hesitant to pay more than the smallest amount because I do not want my money taken again, just for the app to roll back my payments and act as though I have never paid again. Then I have to pay over and over. It is ludicrous. I would delete completely if it wasn’t BY FAR, the best scanner app on the market! I guess I have to draw a line at where ‘the best’ doesn’t matter as much as ‘working correctly without stealing my money’

Subscription Not Recognized - Double Charged. Long time user of this app and was willing to commit to an annual subscription to support development and growth. Opened up the app today and was prompted to subscribe to “VIP” and all the previous features I have under active subscription were gone. Restore subscription would not work and I was actually able to “subscribe” and now have two active annual subscriptions. My original is at $24 and new one is at $35? Hmmm… how is that even possible unless something was changed in the app. Requested refund for higher priced sub from Apple and still have existing sub and still not getting sub features. Too bad… really good app but useless without sub features. If it does’t get fixed going to report to apple and ask for refund for existing subscription.

FINALLY. Scanbot is my choice for best Scan App currently available across entire App Store. I began using Genius Scan some 3-4 years ago and found it to be clearly a capable app, I also worked fairly extensively with Scannable. Yet in using both Apps above, each of which were adequate for the basic task at hand, but only Scanbot offered me an incredibly easy and intuitive interface while still accommodating a power user looking for a large set of features in the apps ability to connect more extensions than I could ever use, and offers an endless array of connectivity solutions satisfying the most discriminating power user. Skip the learning curve which I dealt with and go with scanbot from out of the gates.

Amazing. Simple as that.. This app has acted as a great reference for when I’ve already submitted my work, and my teachers want me to refer to my previous turned in work to complete my upcoming assignments. I can organize my material by course subject, which is extremely important to me. I continue to have a few complications with the picture to text option, but I am satisfied as long as my pictures can be clearly read. Although I had to purchase Scanbot Pro for the full amount of options, it is absolutely worth it. Thank you for this app!! 😁😁😁😁

Scanbot support works!. I bought this app a couple years ago and was very happy with the functionality so much so that I recommended it to several colleagues. In the last two weeks though the app crashes within seconds of opening and I am unable to access any of my scans on the phone. I sent an email to support via their support portal and within a day I got a very detailed response with steps to try. Ended up deleting and reinstalling and that fixed the problem. Saving grace was that I had auto backup turned on from the beginning so my previously scanned files were safe. Very happy once more that my fav business related app is working again.

Subscription issues. Updated from 1 to 3 stars based on developer response Swiftscan did find and fix the subscription issue after about a week. The app is now useful again. Two stars deducted for the loss of productivity from not having the app when I needed it, time wasted troubleshooting, and the hugely annoying, spammy, and mostly useless interface that I had to interact with when the app reverted to unpaid mode. There should have been an immediate work around to get me productive while they did the technical troubleshooting on their end. ------ I paid for a vip subscription which is active through the end of april. I noticed recently that my files stopped syncing properly to icloud and ocr stopped working. Today, I went in to investigate and the app became unusable- my subscription was deauthorized and instead of my files I get ads and nag screens. I am at a conference and expected to use this app every day. Now, I have a stack of files to scan and am left to wait for whenever someone at swiftscan picks up the ticket and decides to make my app usable again. Not cool.

Good app but sometimes a bit buggy. This has been my go-to scanning app for a long time. Recently it seems to be more buggy than normal. Sometimes it will lock up on processing a scan when trying to save it. I also just opened the app to scan a document and it froze up while processing the scan. I went into the documents section and none of my previous scans were showing. I freaked out a little bit, but after closing the app and restarting my phone everything came back. Just be aware that this may become a more common issue as the developers focus on their paid subscription version and this version loses their focus.

Why is Scanbot Pro $70?. The free Scanbot is good but not necessarily better than other free scanners. In fact, there are other free scanners that can do more than Scanbot. All the locked features are available on Scanbot Pro for $70. However, even those premium features are free in other free scanners, so whenever there is a limitation in one scanner, I simply move to the next scanner that does offer that feature for free. Most free scanners have limitations, but, as long as I move from one free scanner to the next, I basically get to use the “premium” features. I hope Scanbot Pro can reasonably reduce the price in half, because with the availability of free apps and in-app purchases, few people would pay monthly for a scanner.

Misleading prices. This app's description in the App Store is confusing, in the description it states that it's a subscription based app. But bellow that, where they list the In-App Purchases, it lists what appears to be a one time fee lists. Such as 6.99 for the full Pro features, or 8.99 for the VIP Full Scanner App. I always look at the section first before I read the description. I figured that any fees should be listed under In App Purchase list. Isn't that the whole purpose of that section? I do not purchase any apps that are subscription based, unless it's a periodical such as a magazine or newspaper. Sorry but the crazy prices this and other apps charge is nothing but ridiculous. Unless you are releasing new features every few days) there is no reason to pay so much for the same o' features. There are plenty of scanning apps full of features that are just as good without a monthly subscription. Many developers claim that they need the money to develop the app, but really, that much money? Again, are they rolling out new fetures every few days? No! Come people, stop milking people. Yeah, you wajt to buy your new BMW but milking people is a rip off.

I have to pay now.... Had to change my stars to 3. So I was using this app for the longest time and it was great. But now I have to pay for features that were free before. That’s low and grimy. Your business model should be rolling out new features you want me to pay for because you entice me with your innovation. That’s a good subscription model to follow. Changing it so people pay for what they are already used to using is ghetto and shows your company lacks some insight in attracting customers to make more revenue. Pick up your game or you will lose out on current customers and future ones. Don’t do current customers wrong for trying to make a buck.

Abruptly upgraded to a subscription model. This is absolutely the best scanning app out there, and I’ve been using it for years in pro mode after paying like $4 once. Now they’ve abruptly switched to a subscription model, which is fair and I totally support it, but there was no transition. Yesterday I was doing just fine with Scanbot, but today I can’t do the same stuff without paying up. The company’s blog says all features that I previously paid for will still work and I’ll only need to start a subscription if I want new features, but yesterday I was using folders, and today I can’t because it’s apparently a new feature since the folders look a little different. The iOS Notes app has since become able to scan documents pretty much just as well. I ignored this before since I’d already paid for this app, but now I find myself back in evaluation mode and I’ll have to consider weaning back to Notes since it’s getting a nice update soon.

Not worth it any longer. I’ve been using this app since the scanbot days, not sure why they decided to swap the name so many times but to each their own. Let me just say functionally this app probably can’t be beat if your looking for a scan app with loads of amazing features and don’t mind paying a premium, this is it. That being said, the premium is where I draw the line I paid for the pro version a long time ago and now I’m told that a need a subscription? And $4/mo at that. Frankly, there are free apps that fit the same bill and don’t come with the price tag. This was a ludicrous money grab by this company, who’s probably feeling the heat because Apple is stepping up their game in the photo scanning business. Ultimately I would not recommend purchasing this app because subscriptions always go up in price and for what the app does it’s simply not worth the money.

Greedy company..... I had paid for the pro version, top-of-the line. Upgraded my iPhone to iOS 14, and suddenly nag screens everywhere you tap asking for more payments, subscriptions - AND WHAT APPEARS TO BE LOST FUNCTIONALITY that was paid for in the previous app. Upgrade comes at the expense of: - requests for more money, subscribe. - prime real estate now displays developer messages - no in app ways to get support (so issues are now here in app review instead of support ticket.). Current message is ASKING TO SUBSCRIBE - stuck at the top of the screen - no settings to remove it - annoying pia distracting marketing messages when what you want to see are your documents — NOT MARKETING MESSAGES!!!! - slower workflow requiring extra taps to get work done ——— Terrribly disgruntled young have paid for the app to then have another developer let customers down flipping to subscription models - no wonder why so many hack the apps - you can not trust developers any more. I trusted Scanbot and that was the mistake. Greedy company bailed, changed business models and stuck it to everyone who paid.

A comprehensive and complete tool scanning. When I first installed ScanBot I just needed a tool for capturing receipts in a user friendly way. What I ended up was much more. This app auto detects when the receipt or document is in fully in the camera view and then takes the picture. This app talks to every cloud storage system including OneDrive. It is flexible in how you name documents and manage them. It is visually beautiful, flexible, stable, and easy to use. This tool makes travel, purchases tracking, and expense reports much easier. The pro features are also worth the in app purchase. UPDATE: The new version has taken a perfect tool and made it better. The new file naming is fast, flexible, and intuitive. I scan things for many reasons. I can now easily include the receipt reason as part of the file name.

Constantly surprised by newly pay-walked features. I purchased the full version of this app in 2017 and have used and recommended it constantly since then. Or at least I did until a year or two ago when I was told by a friend that the “amazing and affordable scanner app” wasn’t quite as affordable as I told them. Each time I open the app I’m met with fewer features available to me because they are now part of the “VIP” annual subscription. When I bought the full version in 2017, it was with the promise of full access to the app and all future updates/features. I understand that perhaps, in hindsight, the creators realized that a $8 one-time purchase wasn’t sustainable…but also promising full future use and taking it away isn’t a great way to treat longtime customers. Will it be likely that I’ll find a cheaper full-version app that has the same features? Probably not. But at least I’ll be going into that app knowing the actual future costs of usage. The way the price and feature changes were handled here with no warning to longtime paid users that they would lose features unless they paid again has soured my impressions of what was once a very solid and reliable app.

Unstable and Bloated Since Name Change from ScanBot. I have relied on this for scanning all of my paper docs for nearly a decade. Back then it was called ScanBot and it was an efficient and rock-solid app. Since then the developer sold it off and the new devs have somehow made it so unstable that it crashes in the middle of a scan half of the time. When it does run, it uses so much CPU that the phone gets hot. (I have experienced this on both the iPhone XS Max 512gb and iPhone 14 Pro Max 512 gb.) The kicker is that I still use it as the scanning and document workflow features that it has had since 2016 are IMO still the best that I have found so I guess I will keep using it until something better comes along.

Workhorse!. I’m most likely one of the many iPhone users to try every last productivity app the App Store has to offer. For me personally I have to scan and organize dozens of documents for work. I’ve played around with every scanning app, file manager, and general PDF management app in the App Store and let me tell you Scanbot does the job of at least 3 or 4 apps combined. The quality of the scans are amazing, the file management features are incredible, sharing options, markup, etc all top notch. Security was a huge plus also(nothing is stored on their servers, you have the option to password encrypt any file you please. Throw in the fact it’s a fax machine with very reasonably priced in app credits and what you got is a solid, reliable, secure powerhouse of a productivity app! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for this type of app.

Works same as usual. new names , same app. it never gets smarter with finding borders. i wish there was a button and each time you push it the crop frame moves inward to the next possible border. there should be this button for the whole crop and a button for each of four sides. also it should be easy to move crop without taking the corner out of 90 ° right angle. basically it’s very annoying as it always was. also the new icon is terrible. Looks like a grayed out icon for an app that didn’t install correctly. Please allow choice of the red icon which appears in the settings.

Not another one!. Another app I’ve used for years goes the way of subscriptions. I will now do what I’ve done with other such apps....hit delete. I get it that developers need an income But with so many apps all wanting annual fees it 5can get very expensive. I will move to Apple notes, it’s free and scans quite well.

Simply Wonderful. Very easy to use (iPhone 5s). Nicely automatic in framing and compiling multi page documents. Quick to email. Results very good quality. I don't use OCR so no comment. Great with documents that require signatures then scan with Scanbot and send.

Since the latest update now unusable. Since the latest update you can’t share a scanned document as a PDF only as a JPEG. Who saves a document as a JPEG? Did you do ANY testing at all for this release? I can’t believe you released this major update with such a severe defect. I will have to use alternate software to do my scanning until you fix this. Next time try employing some testers to find your development bugs rather than using your customers.

Good but high prices. Scan bot is an excellent scanning app however it is really annoying that when I would like to, say, filter a photo it tells me that i have to pay like 60 dollars! Overall an excellent app but expensive for the added extras.

Great app. Awesome is a simple way to describe this app. Since initially loading and then upgrading I have found this app invaluable for quick copies of documents and being able to email directly to where I need it to go. Also brilliant for keeping records of those receipts from a thermal printer that disappear within a couple of months. Petrol receipts are easily maintained and sorted with album feature.

Very very good!. The only issue is that, occasionally, the scan quality has a bit of a tint, and glossy images can be a bit poor. Otherwise, I thinks it’s fantastic!

Only one thing missing. Excellent app, fast & accurate. If only it scanned business cards to my contacts it would be a killer app.

Great app. Works better than any of the many I’ve tried. Well worth the cost! Only problem is ‘send images’ has a bug where it only sends one image, not all. PDFs work fine but not useful to me. (Auto-fixing book page warp would be great down the track too! No idea if possible)

Still using after more than a year. Just a good easy to use app, with solid features that work. Some apps come and go, but scanbot remains one of my most used apps after more than a year of use!

Hidden cheesy Analytics Data toggle. App itself is alright, great interface, detection is good but can be improved further. The only problem I have is with the Send Analytics Data option. Usually Apps put it in options/settings even if its defaulted to send data. At least they are open about it. Scanbot however, much to my disappointment, hide it in ios settings(Settings -> Scanbot ->Analytics). People don’t usually don’t look there, I only discovered it by reading the Privacy Policy(I suppose they have to mention it there for legal purpose). The app itself does not mention such toggle whatsoever. It’s a weird design choice to say the least, cheesy, even ungenuine to say the worst.

SCAM-bot. Paid VIP fee for lifetime of updates. Now they want me to pay additional subscription fee to receive those updates. I don’t care if you’re business model needed to change. You don’t go stuffing your loyal customers that allowed you to be a business in the first place.

My go-to scanning app for years. If you’re looking for more than the basic scanning Notes app can do for free such as: * OCR your text to search later * auto-recognise and take actions on contact info * auto-upload to cloud services * auto name or prepend your files with date&time * create separate workflows you use over and over Scanbot is one of your BEST options! Definitely worth supporting the developers if you can, this app has been continually updated over the years and they immediately fixed a bug in the most recent major update that took my Pro features away like OCR.

Not sure if it’s worth the trouble. Great scanner but the interface is really annoying. Lots of pop-ups and self promotion trying to get you to upgrade. Would have been much better if they just charged for the basic version. Plus, pretty presumptuous to assume that five stars will be my rating.

Works well. Great app works equally as well as the other many options in the App Store. However, I would advise you avoid this one as they’re now going down the subscription route... better to support another developer that doesn’t want you to pay $35 a year to get updates. IMO.

Have only used for two documents but it was great. Had been using Dropbox‘s built in scanner but it started crashing. Switched to this and found it excellent for recognising page borders and scan quality was great. Haven’t used any of the other functionally but for scanning has been great so far.

Disappointed that features are removed. I’ve been using scanbot for a while… I recently noticed that my integration to ToDist has been removed from Scanbot Pro and you have to subscribe to this version to access this feature. It’s disappointing that customers that have paid for services previously are treated this way who supported simple apps i. their earliest iteration.

Files too large. Even on the worst quality setting a 10 page doc becomes well over 5mb. This is way too big to use for a standard application or similar as lots of companies have a cap on their attachment sizes. Seems so obvious and like such an easy fix..

Excellent scans and automatic cloud uploads. Fantastic document scanner with wonderfully clean and straight scans. I used indirect sunlight through the window. Making multi-page PDFs to scan my bank statements was a cinch. Uploading to Google Drive was automatic. Definitely worth the money! 😁

Free version heavily locked down - cannot evaluate. You open the app and it almost immediately starts hitting you with ‘upgrade to pro’ screens. Just about everything is locked down to ‘pro’ version only when you attempt to use it so impossible to truly evaluate how ‘good’ the app is. If you are looking at using this as a ‘free’ version, you get the same functionality as the apple camera, so go use that instead.

Easy to use. Scanbot has been one of the simplest and easiest to use scanners for the iPhone I have used. It is just a few buttons and you’ve got a good looking rendition of the page/a you’re scanning, it is easy to set it up to automatically upload to your cloud storage if choice, and possibly best of all it doesn’t require a on-going subscription to use all of its features.

Love it. Love Scanbot. I use it to scan in all my purchase receipts than upload them in the clouds. I recommend to all my friends to use.

Committed the cardinal app sin. Inadvertently pressed a ‘restore purchases’ button in-app and with no warning functionality was severely limited in an attempt to railroad me into a yearly subscription. I understand moving to a subscription model but tricking users into an ‘update’ or ‘restore’ that strips out functionality is a sly and dishonest tactic. I’m not usually one for a inordinate focus on change management, but in this case, the SwiftScan team require a lesson in communicating change. I’ve used this app for many years, and supported by paying for a pro version in the early days. Removing the functionality I paid for, regardless of how long ago, is dishonest. Will be looking for alternatives.

Cannot access Pro features with Restore anymore. Pro features no longer restore, app developers now forcing old supporters onto the subscription only model. Both Apple and the developers are not willing to resolve this purchase restore issue.

Scummy Devs. Save your money!!!! Not only did this developer take away features that we already paid for just to charge for them again, but now they’re blatantly lying about it when responding to reviews. Like many others, I purchased the extra features for this app years ago. I still have the email that says I paid for OCR, Cloud Uploads, amongst other features. Now those features are locked behind a paywall and the developer is claiming that they haven’t changed a thing. So tell me why does it ask me to pay for a subscription whenever I try to use these features?

Surprise subscription. App developers: how many monthly subscriptions do you think people can put up with? Do you really think your service deserves a subscription? You are competing for subscription money with Adobe, Netflix, Disney, food delivery services. Let us pay a few bucks and pay again when a real update drops. Meanwhile, I am never putting up with a subscription for an app that scans stuff. It used to be a good app now it is ruined by greed.

Free Camera App?. Not really sure what the purpose of the free version is, other than to sell you on the paid one. I get not having OCR and other advanced features, but everything that would be useful to me is locked. I didn’t need an extra app just to email photos, so I deleted it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Good anount of features lack of speed. I subscribed to the paid pro version of your app, however I ended up cancelling it and switching back to Scannable. Even though your app is feature rich when paid for, the startup time is way too slow compared to the competition, which is free as far as Scannable is concerned. This is the kind of app where you sometimes need to do a quick scan, and Scanbot feels way to heavy to do that. I’m left stranded on the loading “Please wait...” screen for a long time with an iPhone 11 Pro. On the contrary with Scannable as soon as you open the app, even from scratch, you don’t have to wait at all and go straight into the camera ready to go. If this could be solved, I would come back and take a subscription again for the many paid features you offer that other apps don’t.

Great app but suddenly wants a subscription. This is my go-to scanning app. Easy to use and quick. But suddenly after an app update, Scanbot wants a subscription. The release notes didn’t mention this and now I’m stuck in version 9. It feels like I’ve lost a great tool.

Scanner. Most recent version requires in-app purchase of subscription / substantial price increase. Previously reviewed as a completely off-line resident scanner with no subscription fees and privacy. Install the free app and use in-app purchases for lite - ocr, search, and annotate; pro - ocr, search, annotate, automatic perspective correction, filters, qr/bar codes; or vip - update the free version to pro with a second pro license useable with ios or andriod devices. Excellent support.

Subscription?. Paid for the app a while back. Now I get blasted with ads for a subscription to drain more money out of me. So disappointed.

Used to be great. I resubscribed a month ago after being a happy user for several years. New version duplicated all my folders and I can’t save to the old ones. Every time I try to create a new folder it asks me to subscribe. Restore makes no difference. I’m stumped by the inability to create a new folder. Take my money and make the app unstable, doesn’t make sense. *** support fixed my problems and I now am back to the very useful app that I was used to.

Cannot launch app without paying for VIP. No way to skip past the VIP screen at app launch. No skip or X button despite what the developers have said in their comments. What a shame

Fabulous app.. Makes my life so easy. No need to own a scanner if you own this. Thanks guys for making this awesome app. I love how you can organize everything in a folder and sync it online. My only recommendation is for the app to allow everyone to create a user name so they can log in when they switch a device.

Guess what? Another Subscription!. Oh awesome, ANOTHER subscription app. Yay, everyone rejoice. $5.99 a month or you get to have little crown icons everywhere with features you can’t use. AWESOME.

What OCR? And subscription to get new features!. Great ripoff. Pay for the app, think you’ll get regular updates with new features, but surprise! You paid for an app which will never get new features unless you keep paying. Also, it has never successfully read any document. It tells me it found nothing when I hold my phone over text, then tells me to snap a picture manually. What’s the point of claiming it has OCR?

Got a new phone now app won’t work. I purchased a new phone and now I can’t scan and all of my previous documents are unavailable! I can see them on my old phone and can use the app on my old phone but none of the info transferred over AND it’ll only let me scan 2 pages AND will only let me pass by making a purchase! This needs fixed

Subscription Model Isn’t for Everyone. Just bought this app about a month ago along with Unfade, part of the reason I chose these apps was no subscription. Honestly I feel a bit put off now, like I was tricked (yes, I understand that I haven’t lost any features). Well, I completely understand that $0.99 or even $4.99 doesn’t cover the development cost of a high quality app such as Scanbot I would really like to see a standalone version of the app for around half of the subscription price. Not a huge fan of the subscription model, I have enough bills monthly adding a scanning app to the mix is not appealing at all. Honestly, $29.99 a year for a scanning app is a big ask....like huge when you can buy a scanner for around $100 and not be tied into a subscription model. Lastly, the way this transition has been handled hasn’t been great. Many users such as myself updated to the newest version to be present with this new payment system. What should have happened is 9.0 should have been it’s own separate release to separate this massive change in policy. I hope this is a learning experience for the developer and moving forward they will consider allowing a one time payment for each major release as well as providing the subscription model for those who prefer it. At $29.99 a year I’m afraid I’m going to probably bow out at some point, it’s just to much for an app that scans documents (something that to some degree is already built into iOS notes). I think $14.99 is a more reasonable price point and fair to users and the developer. On a side note, after poking around the AppStore I noticed that there’s a $99.99 version of Scanbot Pro and a $9.99 version of Unfade (Photo Scanner) Pro - are these one time buy apps with upgrades for life? This is another example of how confusing your revenue model is for your users and it’s not explained at all on your website (at least I can’t find anything). Love some insight from the developer on these versions. Thanks.

Just amazing. This is a rip off. I used to use this app but now they have taken away features I used to use and are saying I now have to pay to use those same features. Forget it. There’s lots of apps that will handle this for me both on my phone and on my computer. I would not recommend this app to anyone.

Best scanner. Love the app. Used it almost every day to scan to PDF and then automatically upload to Cloud storage. However, the latest “update” is an extortion - force to pay monthly for what have already been paid for the “Pro” app.

Forced to subscribe even if you already paid for the app. Used to love this app, but now paid features are locked behind a "Swiftscan VIP" subscription if you previously purchased the Pro version of the app (ads are also part of the UI)

Worked great before…. …but now it’s actively worse than before. Quality of scans is lower than when I bought it a few years ago. Not happy with this business model of converting a paid app to a subscription, and the non-subscription version being downgraded to “encourage” people to pay more.

I don’t want the subscription. I was happily scanning pictures but when I went to access them, the subscription screen popped up. Maybe I took too many photos. My bad! I’ll go delete some files. Except, it won’t let me out of the VIP subscription screen. Maybe I’m dumb and can’t find the x? I’ve clicked everywhere. I don’t want to get VIP I just want to access what I’ve accessed a hundred times before.

Forcing to get into a subscription. It is very disappointing to see that I have now to pay a subscription to get the most basic features that I used to have when I purchased this app. Searching files or copying text is no longer available for example. You should at least honour the features that I had when I purchased the original app.

Fantastic results and a delight to use. Powerful and (considering it's a scanning application) surprisingly fun to use. I used the Fax feature recently for the first time to send in an updated Pre-Authorized payment form that otherwise would have had to be mailed and it worked great.

Yet another subscription?. You should really allow folks to alright bought the app to be grandfathered into the subscription features. Clearly you thought about this and decided the backlash would be worth it, but I’m not renting every single third party app I like and I’ll be voting with my money. At this rate I’d rather buy a physical scanner.

No for subscription. I have been happy with Scanbot for years. If I have to pay a monthly subscription, I will get an equivalent app from another developer.

Very efficient!. Love this app. Have been using it for a couple years. I love that I can direct it where to save in multiple Gmail accounts. I have had one issue recently that after I scan one receipt when I try to scan the next one, it says that the camera isn’t available so I have to shut down the app and re-open it which I find frustrating. Would love to fix this!

Agree with those who said it is trash. Agree so much with those people who said that the app went from the best to the worst. Facts that I know: Apps went from free to subscription are totally fine, because they are having more and more features, and those features were made from developers who did hard work. They deserve some payback from clients. Apps went from one-time payment to subscription are totally money grabber, because they don’t seem to care about user experience and they just want money (The case of ScanPro app). That is their decision if they want more money or more clients. I deleted the app a few months ago and I switched to Scanner Pro and Camscanner. Couldn’t be more happy.

God Bless This App. Super efficient, detailed, and programmed with care in terms of its usage and the way the user interacts with the app, ESPECIALLY for a free user. Simply amazing, keep up the great work and service. I have yet to come across any ads or invasive pop ups that ruin the flow of using this app. Especially with online schooling, I use this app to mainly convert hand written paperwork to my computer/laptop, taking up little to no time with this app; for free users, the app allows for compiling of multiple taken or existing pictures, in app editing of the image(s) and auto conversion into a pdf, where it can easily be shared. I love how the main functionality and purpose of scanning can still be used as many times without much restrictions being a free user. I especially love the free form cropping feature, which allows abstract cropping and differs from the ordinary cropping system seen. The developers of this app have definitely piqued my interest to view how well their other apps are developed.

Good app. Good app. Changes recently and doesn't scan as well as it used too. Also took off multiple custom templates and I used this a lot. Looking for a new app. Can’t believe a company made upgrades and now it sucks! Should have just left it alone.

Was good... annoying advertising. Paid for this App, now they are asking me for a subscription and they advertise this everywhere. It is a good App but will not give more money. Update July 2022: they still advertise a subscription almost everytime I open the app EVEN IF I BOUGHT THE APP ... annoying ... 1 less star.

Contacted support, no reply. I only get ads to invite upgrade at 50CAD per year! Yeah, right. Find another solution with a more trustworthy vendor….

Paid for pro and got no features.. I paid for the pro version of this app, only to have all my features taken away once the Scanbot 9 version came out. I use to be able to adjust all the documents to my liking and annotate. I no longer can do the basic functions that I paid for. The app struggles to recognize my work sheets and I end up doing it manually.

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Latest update better. After 9.0 was released it felt like a step backwards in UI, never mind the subscription stuff. Latest updates have improved it and it back to working closer to how it did in 8. It’s still very finicky though, saying it’s too dark even under the same bright light I have been using for years with Scanbot. Subscription doesn’t look to be worth it. I would have gladly paid for a reasonable app update as well.

Amazing App. It’s not only an app where you can scan documents, although it does it very well, this app also has strange words and games that I didn’t quite comprehend. Maybe it was something different than what o thought but it was very interesting. We should have more Easter eggs and secret plot twists in utility apps!

I love this app. This app has helped me de-clutter my house. I am going through shoe boxes and piles, scanning contents I want to keep and then recycling the paper. Furthermore, after I have captured and filed an article I want to keep, I am able to search the article for information (the word I type in gets highlighted). The app is very intuitive, no frustration. I did have a couple of questions and suggestions for the developers and these messages were answered promptly, kindly and thoroughly.

App stopped working. An update: none of the suggestions from their support work. I deleted an app and reinstalled it, but it doesn’t let me restore previous purchase because it only recognizes subscription now. And none of my documents got restored! I understand developing your app, and making it more profitable. I do. But making it inaccessible for old customers is a low blow. I did pay for it previously, so at the very least I should be able to use it as it was when I paid for it. At this point I just want to retrieve my old scans, and I’m outta here. There are plenty of other scan apps, hopefully with better ethics. Previous review: I’ve had this app for few years now (paid version, before it became subscription). And never had any issues. Until today, when I needed a scan at important meeting, and though I could see a preview, I couldn’t view the actual file. It was really bad timing for a glitch. And I do hope it’s a glitch, and not because I didn’t subscribe to additional services.

So confused by Scanbot 9. I purchased Scanbot Pro a lot time ago through IAP. With version 9, I have to say I’m so confused. I have no idea whether the pro features I paid for are still there, but the app continually tries to get me to sign up for a subscription. I get it, subscriptions happen with some apps that get continual updates, but this app doesn’t make that clear at all. In fact, there’s no place in the app, on the site, or in the App Store listing that actually explains what you get for “Pro Classic” vs “Pro subscription”. It’s honestly one of the most confusing updates I’ve ever seen.

The best by far. This app has it all. If you’re looking to scan paper documents into digital format and want to be able to do it on the go, here it is. I’ve tried plenty of other scanner apps, they don’t cut it. You can fax, OCR, upload to your secure storage sites, and do minor editing right from the app. I recommend buying the upgrade to get the most. You’ll love this scanner app!!!

Good morning, I updated my application and it blocked my actions that I had for having bought the application before you changed to subscription mode, I have been a user of the application for many years, because they took away my access! I paid for the application at the time. I await comments.

My favorite scanner app. I be got Scanbot pro and it is worth every bit of the $7 I paid for it. I use this app daily to scan and save important docs from mail, to bills, to important stuff my kids bring home from school. It backs everything up to Dropbox and OCRs it so I can search from any device. Just awesome and very easy to use.

Cannot be relied on - it lost my receipts. I bought this app even though iOS now has built in document scanning functionality because I thought this would be better. I used it a lot and it seemed to be working great. But then one day I needed to go back and look at an old receipt and when I found it, it was blank. The thumbnail shows the receipt, but after tapping, there is nothing. All my receipts before a certain date seem to have been corrupted and are now inaccessible. Don’t buy it. Don’t rely on it for anything important. Why use it at all?

ScanPro on iPhone. Definitely the best scanning app out there. I’m a college student and this has made my life so much easier especially with a transition to online classes during COVID-19. I tried a few different scanners before this one and none of them even came close to being as user-friendly as this one. I don’t have the ScanPro+ so I can’t attest to those attributes but the experience I have gotten from the app has been extremely positive. I’ve even recommended the app to friends, family, classmates, and professors and have heard great responses back as well. Highly recommend! Also thank you to the developers for creating such a beneficial app.

Will never recommend Scanbot again. Scanbot had been my go-to scanning app for years. And I have recommended it to many folks who now also enjoye it. But a subscription plan for a scanning app!? Come on...that's crazy! There are so many other scanning apps that perform well. And those apps charge a fair and reasonable one-time fee or are completely free. (BTW, I understand charging for significant, major updates to an app. That is fair and reasonable.) Another word of caution for the developers. iOS 13 introduced built-in scanning functionality that can be accessed via Apple's Files or Notes app. It's free. Works great. Good luck with your subscription model.

A Beauty. Gorgeous interface and easy to follow instructions. My only complaint is the text of the instructions is small, which can be easily remedied in the iPhone settings, and light, which cannot be altered in the app’s settings or the phone’s. For the average user, this is probably not an issue, but for those of us who are farsighted it is. But I still give it five stars because the app does what it claims and does so beautifully.

Really useful. I’ve been using Scanbot for years. It’s super useful. The ocr is accurate enough and I use it all the time to copy long passages from books. However, I use it only to OCR. So, I wish that getting a pic to text was a single button up front and center after cropping, instead of tucked away a few taps from the front, then to the sharing sheet where I the put the text on the phone’s “clipboard.”

Upgraded to VIP after first scan. It only took the first scan to realize this app is definitely worth the price. I love that I can scan my receipts, even the long ones from grocery stores and supermarkets and it makes them look so much better than the actual paper, not to mention automatically upload them to OneDrive or your cloud service of choice. Awesome app!!

Installed then deleted within minutes. Without a paid subscription- which I have no interest in buying- you can’t send your scan to a folder, OCR, or do just about anything else except take a straightened out photo. I suggest heeding the other poor reviews and skipping this app altogether. Developer: don’t bother regaling me with tales of a 7-day free trial; I got hit with sales-upgrade messages 4 times in the first minute that I tried to use anything worthwhile. Perhaps the best way to go about this is to show me it’s a good product, allow it to become an essential part of my workday, and THEN do the upsell. It might be a great app, but I’ll never know.

Finally impressed by a scanner app. Tried several of these scanner apps but this was the first that really seemed to have some tricks up its sleeve. The auto/magic color and black & white settings you can apply to the scan are where it really stands out. Ive taken some badly lit / shaky pictures that turn out crystal clear once I click once or twice in Scanbot.

Best scanner App Ive Used. Easy to use, great image quality and filters. Very pleased with capabilities and pricing. The auto scan could be better in that it cuts off the edges around text when you don’t want cropping. That’s easily fixed, just take the shot yourself. App makes my life easier not harder. Just keep it updated appropriately and it is as straightforward as it gets.

dependable app always. Used with no probs for 6 years now. Multi page, crop, pdf convert, email quick- all the dings and whistles you need. Have serious job cant afford mess ups. Scanbot free has never let me down and I recommend to anyone needing the occasional scan asap. Serious scanners should buy pro version as from what I see has more editing tools.

Scanbot. This is very user friendly. And trust me I am not all that tech savvy! 😊 I love being able to fax right from my phone!! Thanks Scanbot! I am disabled and don’t drive, so this is a lifesaver for me. My husband also appreciates the fact that he doesn’t have to go to UPS to fax for me. Since they scan everything at his work, and don’t have a fax machine.

Not For Casual Users Anymore. I enjoyed Scanbot since it was originally released. I also upgraded the app to the Pro version to support development in the early days. Version 9 ups the ante to a $23/year subscription. Basic features of the app continue to work without the subscription. But, the app is be littered with upgrades, banners, and badges that pester the user. That just isn’t for me. I went through my history and calculated that I scan about 6 documents per year. Personally, I can’t justify the subscription. If you are a person who scans a lot of documents using your phone then I would recommend this application overs others and pay for the Scanbot subscription. I hate to leave bad reviews for petty reasons. But, this update turned the app into a shell of its former self. It comes across as a burn to old customers who paid for the original Pro version.

OCR Document Scanning in your pocket. I’m not one of those “I remember when hard drives were the size of washing machines” type of guys, but quality OCR on a phone is pretty dang impressive. When you see the price, this app is an incredible value. I use it all the time in my research, but it is starting to slip into my personal life too. It is SO much easier to find a PDF version of that receipt or idea you captured than trying to look through all the pictures in Photos.

Simple interface, good workflows.. I have tried a bunch of similar apps to quickly capture receipts and notes while traveling. This is the best I’ve found so far: quick startup and simple interface, yet customizable enough to easily save a scan in both Evernote and Dropbox with a minimum of steps. It made it to my home screen!

Insists on Connection to Wifi. Previously, the app worked well all the time every time, whether or not it was connected to wifi. Now, it refuses to open and is stuck in an endless loop if it is not connected to wifi on startup. Is this a bug or a feature? Well, my ipad pro is wifi only and does not have wifi connectivity at my bank so I can no longer use it to scan my deposits at the bank. Please fix. Thanks.

I now have $60 in fax credits it won’t let me use. Total rip-off now. I used to love this app. I recommended it to everyone. Last spring I got a new iPhone and lost the aprox. $30 credits that were on the old phone. Apple support helped me out by transferring them to my new phone. But then later this year all my credits suddenly disappeared again. I need to fax desperately at that point and bought another set of $30 credits. For a while I had credits but again, in spite using very few of them, no fax credits and it’s requiring me to pay in order to send a fax. I will happily revise my review if the app helps me to resolve this.

What is going on?. First the devs have problems communicating the switch to a subscription model (seriously guys, if you want to see how to communicate look at AgileBits or OmniGroup). Current version it is still an opaque mess about what you actually are grandfathered into and it constantly pesters you about buying their subscription (also a no no). Now on top of that the new update seems to have a high failure rate for detecting documents (same documents I’ve always scanned in the same environment and lighting). More money, less features, Scanbot Subscription.

Used to be good. Support team is a joke. I have been using and relying on this app for couple years now and all my documents have been scanned using this app. Unfortunately, as soon as the company “updated” the app it cannot search inside documents anymore. I’m a Pro user and I feel this feature has been removed from my Pro version - probably - they are pushing us to the “subscription version” and this is outrageous and inadmissible. I’ve already escalated the search issue to the Support team and, even though they are aware of this, the only answer I got from them is that they do not have any idea when this feature will be working again. Seriously?!?

Amazing App!!!. This is the best scanning app I ever have had. It scans super clear pictures and I really love it. The free version is awesome, but I think some apps have better free versions and don’t make you pay so much if you want to make folders, or get more than two filters. I’m still putting 5 stars, but I do think they could improve the free version a little. Thanks, Scanbot, and please consider my suggestions!!

Instead of Saving kids toys. SwiftScan let me takes pix of my kids' toys - their favorites or mine. Instead of guarding them until (hopeful) grandkids and then offering deteriorated plastic broken toys to them ... and, also - to stop my hoarding which is really just about keeping items that trigger fond-memories, I took pix of them and moved most right along to neighbors, Goodwill and trash.

Always produces a superior scan compared to other apps. **I am reducing my rating by one star because the app keeps presenting me with requests to rate it. Please get rid of the thumbs up icon.** I have been a paperless advocate for several years and thought my ScanSnap was the only way to do _real_ scanning. Scanbot often makes me wonder if I need to bother with my ScanSnap anymore. I do wish I had the option to disable the fax feature completely, however.

Good up until now.... I’ve been using Scanbot for several years and always found it easy to use and a convenient way to keep all of my scans. Yesterday however, the app won’t email any scans, which is a crucial feature. I thought it was because I needed to upgrade, but when clicking on the upgrade button it tells me that there is no internet connection. I DO have an internet connection, but the app thinks I don’t for some reason. Guess I have to move to another app. Sad because there are a lot of scans in there and now I have no way of getting them off.

Perfect For Documents. What the titles said. Only bad part is the implementation of faxing. Love it. But we already paid for the app. Why am I paying $1 per fax? That's too much. Maybe every 3 faxes it's $1. But per fax. No. That lowered the rating to 4. Also the image to text ratio is way off. They miss so much stuff. It’s there. But all over the place. Idk how to explain it. But it’s this or Scanner Pro and I think this one is the better one.

Few days tested - great app so far. Was looking for a while for a decent scanning app and finally got the free scanbot pro. Upgraded after a day to the full version and not regretting it at all. All around easy and awesome app. Simple to use with a lot of features. Very intuitive and easy to use but with a lot extras like signing ability etc. quality is pretty good for archiving pretty much anything you want. Thumbs up for this great little app.

Feature Rich. Refreshing. Incredible Application!. Generally remarkable in ways that I was not expecting! I love this application! I will find tons of great use for it in the future whether it be from faxing to scanning documents to faxing scanned documents (#subtleties) etc. You get the idea! Was the Best scanner - Concerned about new privacy policy. I loved this app u til it was our head by a new company. Their privacy policy said they would use our data for advertising. They replied to me, So I’d like them to update the Scanbot privacy policy to reflect what they wrote below. "Hi Yes we have taken ownership of the app however we will not use your data. In fact we have no access to it. Our privacy policy is standard and meant to cover all of our apps. Many items like access to data are not applicable to Scan bot. Your information is only stored on your device locally unless you utilize a third part cloud service. " ————————————————— Original review: WARNING: This app was bought out by a company that will use your personal information for advertising. My scans are important. So I’m going to delete it ASAP.

Best App For HQ SCANS!. I tried dozens of apps while in pursuit of an app capable of producing high quality scans of documents, photos, business cards, etc. That I could comfortably and confidently use in a work environment before finally discovering Scanbot. Ever since I started using it I haven't hesitated on sending document scans to work colleagues with absolute assurance. Highly recommended

Constant upsells screens. I supported this app by buying it (and paying an additional fee to unlock OCR) back in its early days, and although I was sad to see them go to a subscription model, they maintained the feature set for existing (paid) users, so I was happy. However, the past couple months, the app constantly interrupts my workflow by showing a splash screen stating that I get to keep my current features, but I can also pay for the VIP subscription. So I’m deleting this app and never giving this developer another dime, which is a shame since it was a really good scanner app.

I already paid for this app. It’s pretty annoying that when I bought this app all those years ago, that now I am met with a purchase page every time I open it up trying to get a subscription out of me. I also used to be able to search text with no issue, and now that seems to have been throttled back. I will continue to use what I paid for (when I bought it outright) until I find something better. Will never be forced to upgrade because I’m getting throttled.

Broken updates. Every time the software updates it refuses to recognize your VIP subscription causing you to have to reinstall the software, losing all your settings and just causing lots of frustration. They say to tap the restore button - doesn’t work. I’m so fed up having to deal with this and vet and over. Software works great but if they lock me out of all my features every time and make me jump through tons of hoops, I’m done. Probably going to cancel after this year and just go to adobe.

A great scanner app, and the only one I’ve found with two-way sync. It’s all very fine to save you files in the cloud. But ScanBot lets me refile and add to documents in the cloud and it picks up the changes. Plus it does a remarkable job of optimizing the color and contrast to make documents look as good as they possibly can. And of course, it does OCR and then recognizes useful bits of data like addresses and phone numbers for dir st use in actions.

Mediocre. Rarely see updates that add anything useful. Can not lock in your paper size or make it default to letter size for instance... 🤦🏻‍♂️ it’s a no brainer!!... so I have to manually click 2 times for every scan to set letter size on the hundreds of pages I have to scan daily for work.... how moronic is that. If I don’t select a size the app randomly just sizes every page a little different 🤦🏻‍♂️ also they should make it to where you can save to your scans into a specific folder within your camera roll, named scans for instance... another no brainer

Best free scanner app I have used yet. There are other free scanner apps out there with high rated reviews, however, there are so many limitations on the free version, it makes it worthless. Scanbot still has limitations on the free version, but it is far more function than the other free scanning apps out there. The automatic scanner works great, no issues with it. Give it a try, you’ll love it too.

One of the best iPhone scanners. I’d tried many scan apps before Scanbot and found surprisingly that it gather functions on a smoother way, focusing on scanning function and offering many sharing and cloud services options to manage the documents. Its integration with iCloud makes easy to work with documents I scan with iPhone on my Mac.

So Useful!. This app helps me easily scan and keep receipts for expenses, scan signed documents and more. I love how easy to use it is and straight forward. Email or send your scans in just a few clicks, it auto recognizes the edges of documents and cuts out the background making them much cleaner and more professional.

Degraded by upsells. I’ve used this app for years and I recommended it to everyone I knew that had a scanner, now they don’t have scanners anymore. But I guess to you guys the only value is if I personally subscribe to premium, so much that the app is unusable. I open it, and you interrupt my work with an upsell ad. Even more interesting is that I had purchased the premium version of this app a while ago, but that was not enough, because you just need your hands in my pockets forever. I Sorry, this is unforgivable, and it’s not a bug, it’s a decision you made. Good bye.

Scannable is way better. I bought Scanbot Pro after a friend recommended it to me. When scanning a document with Scanbot, it tells me to „move closer”, “don’t move”, “move closer”, “don’t move” in an endless loop. The automatically applied correction filters are meh: color filters usually turn out really bad while cropping seems to work. Slight Perspective correction never seems to work. This is for basic letters, like utility bills. Scannable works much more reliably and in higher quality while also being free.

Makes Life SOOO Much Easier. A must have!! Being able to fax a document from anywhere, organize all digital tax files, send any document needed easily and without stress because they are organized in folders as PDF’s, edit scanned documents, and the list goes on and on about why this is my FAVORITE app of 2018!!! Buy the PRO version- worth every penny!!!

Good scanner. I cannot longer recommend it. I understand that selling pro versions is not giving the developers the revenue they want, but abandoning a perpetual license model that was supposed to include future new features is not the way to treat long term users. You should’ve left pro users alone with the product they expected to have purchased, then stop selling perpetual licenses and introduce the subscription model for new users. Selling into the existing base is tempting and definitely profitable, but alienating a segment of users that won’t go along with the new model could backfire. Good luck.

Donald. Scanbot is a great app. It needs to improve the encryption procedure. It is too difficult. It should be a one click operation. When prompted for a password I go to my password manager, "1password" and copy the selected password and then double paste it in the dialogue and then select "encrypt" My suggestion: Have the ability of NOT having to enter the password twice making it much easier for a password manager to enter in the password or better yet Copy "CamScanner" app's routine where you can set a password globally and then just one click to encrypt. ---- Currently being able to view an encrypted doc now by pressing the facial recognition is (5 star). I bought a years subscription and it is worth it. Continue to improve your product and I will be happy to pay for a subscription increase.

It’s Everything You’ve Ever Needed To Get Organized. I’m a writer/producer and I’ve got more notebooks thank I know what to do with. Between my own creative, work notes, receipts it always feels like I’m drowning in paper. I’ve tried other digital solutions including an expensive (excellent) scanner but I have to rip up notebooks to scan them and it doesn’t fit in my pocket. I’m finding more and more ways to incorporate Scanbot into my workflow. It’s amazing!!!

Great secure scanning for medical care. We use this to scan patient documents into their charts during house calls. One of the only apps that offers the secure connection directly into our EMR. Has worked seamlessly, so I always recommend it to other house call practices looking for advice.
