Forced review. I'm writing this review because it's a requirement to unlock the Pro version. This sort of extortion should be banned by Apple. All reviews positive or negative should be completely optional. Did I receive the Pro version? I wouldn't know how to determine that since the app doesn't contain an IAP. Was I duped into giving a 5 star review and got nothing in return. It's possible. From my use of the app I will say it's very slow which was expected as all Tor browsers are. Does it protect my anonymity? I can't say.

The Best Tor Browser Available!!. What you read in their description is exactly what you will get with the app. No letdowns whatsoever! I've ran a sniffer on my connection and get no external communications of any kind. I do not give 5-Star reviews lightly and it's only been after using this Tor Browser for over a year now that I give this review. Great job Devs!!

Excellent. It is excellent...even DO NOT think about other tor browser apps for ipad/iphone...this app is an absolutely must-have app for all. Update: As we expect from Omar, it is excellent...Just I wish it has an option to just backup bookmarks and browser setting in icloud without syncing downloaded files, and also ios 9 split view.

Eh, could be better. I spent about 2 bucks on this app....yep, spent money on a so-called "secure" browser; which by the way, blocks certain sites because of my IP provided by "Tor" connection itself. Yelp of all websites is blocked. A review site. It won't connect me. Come in guys, can this be fixed? You are advertised as a very good private secure web browser and I'd expect to get something out of what I payed because normally, I wouldn't pay for a browser of all things. Update?

Better than Safari. Better security and more privacy... what more could we ask for from our technology these days. It's nice to have it require a pin or Touch ID to access, so when you hand your phone to someone (to look at or find something for you), they don't come across any personal information, "suggestions" (from your history), etc. Also I've noticed lately that when we clear Safari's cache, cookies, history (from the settings); and click advanced - website data, some cookies/websites won't delete... even when you delete them one by one, they go away until go back into that selection tab, they just reappear. I have a feeling it has something to do with my location being fetched randomly by the time zone setting... (which I have always had turned off). I'd delete Safari if I could.

Abandoneware. Edit: Yep this is abandoned. The developer has released a regularly updated Red Onion 2 with no word of this fact here. I wouldn’t trust someone happy to trade your privacy and online safety for another $2. Old review: Yeah I wouldn’t trust a TOR app that hasn’t been updated for over a year. The official pc version gets updated nonstop and this app must be light years behind in security and patches. There are plenty of other maintained tor apps on iOS and they also don’t ask for a 5 star review to unlock features.

Red Browser. Although I do not use the full capacity of the App it does what I want. It opens up browsing and eliminates unwanted history tracking. I find it fast and simple to use adding, apparently , another layer of bug protection.

Best Tor browser for iphone. Well worth the price. This is the best thing going. I used the other Tor Onion browser before, but after I paid for the ad-free version they changed it to a subscription service and raised the price! So I tried Red Onion out and it's so much better. It doesn't have the bugs that other one did. It's faster and more user-friendly.

Great web browser is getting even better. I'm confident about privacy while browsing and it really makes sense for me. Recommend to everybody The only thing to ask developers is to add reading view like it is in native Safari app.

It used to be the best. I used to loved this app. Suddenly it no longer can connect to tor. It get stuck at 25%, & has been doing it for days. Other onion browsers have no problem connecting to tor (however I don't like those tor browsers). My original rating before it broke would have been 5 stars. I don't know why this browser broke, it pains me to give it only 1 star-- something I only give programs that completely do not work. I've checked for updates, reinstalled, connect over a VPN, cold reboots -- you name it. Ive done everything on my end that I can think of to get it to work. Like I said, other tor browsers can connect so it is not my isp. I hope this is fixed ASAP, and when it is, I would be very happy to change my review. Sadly, this no longer works. I guess it's time to move on, unless they fix it.

WORTH THE 2$ excellent functionality even on crapple;). So I was curious to see if you could even deep web on a mac safely and I still think there's some fishy things apple does in regards to users content but for simple deep web stuff like alpha bay this is perfect, and the 4-digit passcode protection for every time the screen closes so no one but you can possibly be viewing your websites is great! I'm thinking the only thing I could criticize is speed but it's running Tor and is definitely more than bearable :) fire up your VPN and get your bitcoins ready :D

Crashes when choosing bridges. When I try to select any bridge except for Custom (Custom has a different action), the application crashes and the setting does not stick. When I select Custom, the selection box shrinks and only shows the Cancel button.

Does What Its Suppose To. This app serves it purpose, however, to better avoid frustrations you must understand that Tor doesnt function the same as your typical well-known browsers. One of the differences impact the rate of data transmission - a small trade-off for anonymity. By the way, one user question the use of a PIN, that is to further secure access to the app, from what i have been able to determine.

Good job fellows!. It's great to have TOR in your palm and when you're on travel. Thank you for your service in keeping people safe from snoopers and centralized oppression. Just yesterday, it was published that Eric Holder finally admitted that Edward Snowden performed a public service! Finally!!

Not as good as free onion browser. I tried using the free onion browser before getting this one. One of the key things I wanted to be able to do was download files to my phone. However, in all other respects the general performance/usability for web browsing is not as good as the free onion browser. I've found that I tend to use that one instead whenever I don't need to download something. Even when I do use red onion, it is often so hard to actually download whatever I wanted to download that I typically just give up. My suggestion is just use the free onion browser.

Simple, fast, and free to browse.... What more can be said about the Red Onion Browser? I tell my friends about this safer way to browse the web, and many have no idea what it is! Let's keep the Internet free and unfettered by more governmental controls! Much appreciated Red Onion!

Red onion. Using red onion with Vpn express (I'm very capable of setting up vpn and Tor networks on all platforms) I have constant problems with data completely stopping cause Vpn express tries updating and gets stuck. This happens with email, Internet, anything requiring data. So I expect all problems are due to Vpn an not red onion. Sorry this review isn't so much about red onion, I wish I could give an actual review.

Remarkable. I'm in my 70’s and don't know what a torrent is, but this browser is very friendly and works like a charm. I love being able to choose so quickly and easily between downloading and direct streaming because I'm crawling along on an iPad 2 and TV shows and films often stutter in other browsers. If that starts to happen in Red Onion I just download first and smoothness happens!

Best Tor Browser. I spent a couple of weeks trying many of the free tor browsers available in the App Store, and although a few allowed me to navigate many spaces on the deep web, none of them offered a way to actually view videos and media like this browser does. I was hesitant to spend money, fearing that I would also face the same restrictions on different sites blocked by the free browsers, but Red Onion actually lets me freely browse a ton of addresses that seem arbitrarily blocked by the others. So far this is well worth the purchase and I would highly recommend it to anyone finding dissatisfaction with the free web clients they've tried before.

Red Onion Delivers the Tor Experience!. I must say I am delighted to have found this app. I tried a couple of other Tor browser apps which didn't function ... they didn't even seem to get onto Tor at all. This one is nearly flawless on my iPad Pro -- it does what needs to get done. Get it.

Required 5-Star Review to Unlock Pro Version. I was asked to write a 5-Star review to unlock the pro version of the app. I guess there's really nothing wrong with that. I use the app more than a few other Tor browser apps I have.

Tor doesn't work anymore. i have in issue with the app since 2 months the issue is when i start opening the app its take about 1 min from 0 to 10 % after that i wait more then 20 minutes but nothing change its still 10% and the doesn't work anymore it was work very well but now dont idk whats the problem i hope you guys see my problem and fex it and yes my internet speed is very good about 20 MG and i tryed to uninstall the app and download it againe but its still doesn't work so I guess 99% the problem is from the app .

Don't use this.. It does appear to work (somewhat), but is not actively maintained, not open source, and not endorsed by the tor project for various reasons. There are currently no iOS apps worthy of using for improved anonymity. Most of these reviewers are likely unaware of what they're reviewing and why... using a tor based browser for everyday clear web activities. Good effort from the author. iOS has limitations that make utilizing tor very tricky. I don't mind donating $1.99 for a few hours of testing. However, I don't trust this app any more than the author... who closed the project website for an "ethical dilemma" in regards to the project. TL;DR - Don't trust 99% of these reviews (or this app).

Great. This is a great browser for people who don't know too much about tech. It's a little slower but still it's nice. If you know about tech then it's honestly better to hide your own IP address and such using a program for google.

Not perfect but still great. It's not perfect but for what it's it does, which is to protect your privacy it's a great product. As some have said it's a little slow compared to your regular mainstream browsers but not too bad. For me it just works.

Great App. Great App ! Has good accessing security like a Pin and fingerprint verification. The App runs smoother than the .99 cent version by Mike Tigas, but lacks some of the browsing security that it has. If you want to access the Deep Web it will take you there, but I wouldn't do much more than looking. It's not totally secure like the Tor browser bundle running on a Linux PC, but it's definitely better than using Safari.

Slow, but awesome!. When loading on an iPhone (I have a 5S), it seems to take forever. But once it's loaded, it works great. I use it on my iPhone and my iPad Air for anonymous browsing. I know that "Big Brother" (NSA) has absolutely no problem following me no matter what I use, but at least this helps a little bit. I'm not trying to hide anything, but this is the gateway to the dark web.

How...?. I've heard a lot about the deep web and the dark web. I get the idea behind these "tor" browsers. However, I don't really understand exactly how to properly use red onion browser. I wish I knew a little more on how to use this app. It certainly by all accounts works. I just don't know how to properly use it to search the deep web.

Thank you for finally updating. Although I haven't been able to connect to any actual Tor pages at least it's connecting again. Please please keep the app functioning as expected as I am a paid very long time & loyal user.

Yay for Privacy.. The new icon is great! — Not that there was anything wrong with the old one. As for the app, it works quite well. An issues with speed, and what not just seem to be an issue of using TOR's network itself. Overall though, given all the encryption and privacy issues that is quickly eroding civil liberties, it's nice to have an option to use TOR on iOS.

Almost perfect!. I think everything about this app is good though there are some features that can make it perfect... I believe one is that really necessary is a toolbar at the bottom of the page that includes home and bookmarks. Other than that it's a bit slow and I believe it can be worked out. Yet there is no other encrypted browser that I would prefer over this.

An Excellent Secure Tor Browser. This browser is perfect for when you are stuck on an untrusted wi-fi network or want privacy in the workplace, via wi-fi or cell network. Not for video or audio, though, since those protocols leak information and clog onion networks.

Very nice. Very simple application to use to get some additional security and anonymous Internet access. While not perfect, for the ease-of-use and speed of the application it is very good. I have been really happy with it.

Great service and features. I always go into secured websites preference panels before usage, but this application has a decent amount of settings to configure. I liked that, promoting security to the fullest. The application loads pretty fast I would say, especially depending on Internet services. I'm an average user of Onion Browser. Works great! Great interface, definitely recommend combining with a VPN. I tried the product out and ended up delving deeper than I intended. The Tor network bridges failed a few times, had to remember to copy paste... I don’t like how much analytics are collected. But it’s encrypted well enough. Thanks for the extra security.

It seems good. I'm not sure how this app keeps up to date with the latest tor versions - I never get an update notice (every tor browser update requires you to download the update for instance). This makes me a little wary of optimal security/anonymity. I like the extra features, including being able to view PDFs on my iPhone quickly. I feel that and the spoofing made it worth the price I paid...

Privacy is important.. I personally think that when you have the Tor browser in computer, then you should be able to browse the internet privately, aswell on your iPhone and for this purpose, this app is the best and it is exactly like the computer version(Tor).

Best. This is better than any other. It has fingerprint protection etc… and it always works plus…the name, and a turn JavaScript option off. I have used it for 5 years it’s perfect and minimalistic for an anti-socket programmer that’s cautious but I haven’t looked at what sockets it opens so I’m not sure I’m sure it goes through my vpn interface which has been exploited…

Good but.... I like the browser and its interface, but the buttons are not always responsive. For instance, I keep clicking the upper right tabs button and nothing happens. Also the backspace button doesn't work unless I change to another tab. Unfortunate blemishes on an otherwise great app.

Look no further, there's actually a good solution!. This app is amazing. Fast, beautiful, safe (of course), versatile. You could literally make it your default web browser. The best way to access the WHOLE internet on your iOS device.

Exactly what I was looking for. This app is very useful. It served the purpose I had intended for it to be used for. $1.99 is worth it in my eyes. At least I knew what I was getting. Red Onion app is worth the price and would never go back to any other app.

Near perfection. This app is pretty good with securing your information through many tests I have conducted. Although like everything it's not perfect and the first few nodes it passes through are insecure, even though it it highly unlikely someone can snatch that information it is still insecure. Other than that there's not much tweaking to make this app more user friendly because it is very well done. The only user friendly problem while using this app is that when you scroll down you need to go all the way up again to change your page to do whatever you wish to do. Other than that this app is absolutely great at downloading videos, sound files, etc. and I haven't seen any applicant have a proxy mesh and download this fast, so good job. This app is awesome and I'd rate this 9.9 with a repentant on top!

Shouldn't app be getting more freq TOR related updates?. I like and use this app but it just occurred to me: Tor gets updates several times per year (maybe due to updates in the Firefox browser) but it seems that this app updates less frequently. Is this a cause for security concern?

Best tor browser for iPhone. Only problem is that the browser bar bends out of shape a little when switching between landscape and portrait modes, making it a bit tricky to tap the browser bar. Other than that, worth the buy.

Quick, good. I did NOT test the security of this app, but have been very happy w/the browsing experience and figure it must be doing something because I'm getting ads in multiple different languages.

Good not perfect. Yes this app is a gateway to the dark web if not a very slow one. One of its problems is that it consumes unnecessary battery power. My gauge says it stays in the background 2 to 3 times longer than it's screen ready time. So now I'm looking for something faster and less battery consuming. One nice thing about it is it's built-in browser and fairly good downloader. Honestly I do use these quite a bit.

Fantastic Browser!. I’ve been using this browser for about a year now. The downloading/offline viewing features are incredible, and it does its job to ensure you remain anonymous when browsing. This is the perfect browser for anyone interested in being able to store files such as MP3s, MP4s, WEBMs, and so fourth. And for everything it’s doing in the background, I have to say, it’s very quick. It’s full of security options, HTTP options, and other various settings. There are a few small bugs- but it takes quite a long time and very specific circumstances to notice them. However. it’s totally worth the money. Malicious Software...?. Once I downloaded this, the incognito mode on my google chrome app stopped working. The app wouldn’t let me use the Incognito feature without doing the not-a-robot test that they give you when starting some sort of account online. I looked up the reason for this and it could have been from malicious software on my phone. I deleted the red onion app and restarted my phone and everything was fine in google chrome.

I read some bad reviews and they wanted a refund, i thought as it's only a dollar something was worth the risk and I am glad I did I know reviews are often a competitor who is upset and as it's under $2 it's low cost for a competitor to rig reviews Also some people are not very tech savy and get upset if they are lacking in smarts, even though it's easy to setup Anyway under $2 it's worth the risk if your not sure Also who asks for a refund at such a low price, sheesh Thank you to the developer I am glad I can use this on my iPhone Job well done Mate

Consistently does what it says on the box. The Tor browser is not the fastest in the world. It's not meant to be, it's routing your connection through other countries to anonymise your connection. That's where there's a trade-off. So you can choose open and fast or hidden and slower. But in this nsa-watched world, I'm putting my money here.

Caveat Emptor. This is not an official Tor Browser, so you are trusting the app developer to do as it says. The iOS platform is also insecure. Do not use this browser for nefarious purposes. It does provide simple access to the darknet and potentially more protections, so this is a step better than using Safari/Chrome on iOS for privacy when researching/viewing content.

From what I've found, this is an excellent app that does exactly what it claims to do; however, since it's not produced or endorsed by The Tor Project, it's impossible to say that it can be trusted completely, or even partially. Not to mention the environment that it is running on is insecure.

Will not load on this iPhone. I cannot really rate this App as it won’t load. I emailed the Developer, but his reply was about how to operate various aspects of the App? I couldn’t have made the position very clear, as I wasn’t making any comments on the App itself. Just that it won’t load? Apparently however I am still being charged for this App?

Dont bother with this app. Bought this app and all it did was to refer to a page to donate more money to the Tor Project. Had already paid for the app and couldn't make it work as a browser!

Great Tor app. Great Tor app, never had any issues with it crashing and allows me to do what ever I like over the Tor network.

No response from developer.. good app. however, no response from developer when emailed regarding certain in app issues in particular not being able to access the copy, select, select all, speak, etc menu when text is selected/highlighted within a web page. not even a reply to acknowledge sent email and that the issue is being looked into or an explanation as to why the functions aren’t working = i’m disappointed. the techs over at tor project reply on the spot.

It's all good!!. Got the app to see just what the darknet is all about! This app is pretty good with no pop up ads like the others. Très bien mais très lent. Quand Red Browser fonctionne c'est un vrai charme , je n'ai absolument rien à dire. Par contre, assez souvent tout bloque et pratiquement impossible de naviguer . Tout devient lent pas possible de dérouler la page n'i d'écrire .

Great app, really works. I love the security this app provides as well as the easy to use user interface. I used an ip finder to test if it really disguises you and it does work. If you have even a little patience you barely notice the slower speed

Secure Tor Network. Good app. Secure, Touch ID ready, Quick. My only thought is that it is not as secure and private as the PC/MAC version.

Overall better than good. I am getting into sites that Google gives me grief over, slow loading, or just not opening, if they are off the main stream propaganda machine. The one thing I did notice is that if I jump from site to site too quickly Onion seems to have some difficulty keeping up, probably due to isp initiatives.

Meh. Worked sort of ok before gave me the error for ever 5th site I tried to visit but now it gives the error for pretty much every site, even the ones that worked before. Just in case you are wondering this is the error it gives me.(kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 120)

Doing it for the pro version. I really do quite like this app though I'm truly just doing this for the pro version. Besides the fact this is actually a good app and performs well.

Needs update!. This app needs to be updated to work for iPhone 7+. Ever since I traded my 6s it has not been working. It won't let me search on google even after I prove I'm not a robot. Please fix this

Great browser, needs easier access to bookmarks.. For privacy nuts, this is a well featured browser that uses Tor. For 99¢ - you get more than your money's worth.

This App Is Fantastic!. I tried a number of both free and paid tor browsers and this is by far the most reliable and easy to use one of the bunch. I highly recommend it.

Quick!. Not super knowledgeable about computers but, from what I do know, this app runs much faster than any other Tor browsers I've used. I always use a secondary VPN but, it's not needed..

I love it. This app works just as good as I need it to. Have been with this browser since I started using secure networks and I haven't felt the need to use any other one.

Having issues. I've had this app for months and all of a sudden it crashes almost any site and takes forever to load even a simple search engine. My internet is not the issue I think they need an update. I wish it was how it was a couple weeks ago

Works very well.. I tried the free ones with no luck. Red Browser has consistently worked well with no problems.

kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 120. Do not download this! Red Browser is outdated and does not load .onion sites anymore. It keeps giving me an error when loading a working service. The app is no longer a reliable tor browser.

Don’t Use It!. This app has not been updated. Updates are important in the tor community. And as current time its been one year since the last one. Security is important, don’t look over your shoulder. This developer has hardly released updates since initial release. Nevertheless, updating should be a few times a year, not one.

Fantastic!!. Much better than "Onion Browser" that I paid for an am not even sure how that other app's developers justify charging for it.

Great browser. I want the "pro version" but it runs smoothly. Minor bugs and crashes happen but overall the best deep web browser on the AppStore.

It just works.. The app just works. It makes using the TOR network dead simple, easy, and convenient. And with recent legislation passed in the United States it is a "must have" for citizens that value their privacy and independence.

Used to work for me.. Worked perfectly till I got the iPhone 7. Since then it won't connect to toe services. I'm not rating it bad because it's actually a good app but just stopped working for me?

Tried the rest, this is still the best. Please, open source this, or update to the latest TOR and fix the iOS 13 crashes. This handles tabs better than any other TOR app.

Slow but Stealthy. Seems to do a good job of masking your identity when browsing, but not recommended for high bandwidth video streaming due to latency issues.

"PRO" version?. I purchased this months ago. I'm now being told a 5-star rating will get me some "PRO" version. I'd rate it 5 anyway, but I don't think there will be a difference.

Just better than everything else. This is the best tot browser I have seen on the App Store. It's slow, (at first) but the rest is just like any other browser.

Frozen. App keeps buffering can't access any website still waiting to hear back

Disappointed. The platform looks great and the app itself is ok. In my experience browsing with this app is way slower, because it connects to its own proxy. I couldn't find any option to turn this off. I can change the country, but can't make browsing experience better.

Pretty good. Using Google is cumbersome because you have to enter the captcha for every different search query. The dark web is boring

Does what it's supposed to do. What else can you ask for in an app but to do what it was designed to do? Robust feature set and simple user interface. Keep it up!

Great features, only one problem.. Love the browser, just wish it would stay updated to the latest version of TOR. I'd feel a bit safer knowing that it was always up to date on the security side of things.

Almost perfect. I love how this app hides my browsing history and stuff. The only thing I'd like from it to get 5 stars instead of 4 is to be faster. I'd even gladly pay much more for that.

Slow, Unremarkable, Uncustumizable. Aside from starting on bing, the loading was horribly slow on a high speed connection. Couldn’t even call it a browser with a vpn on. Ahmia as a set and unchangeable TOR browser is annoying, and within 5 minutes I wanted my money back stick to the free stuff it works just as well if not better.

Better than expected. Despite the usual authentication Google will prompt from time to time, just a tor problem in general, very solid app

Almost. Navigation was a hint easier on the Safari regardless off the speed. You do get core improvements for paying for this app rather than going for the 0 dollar purple onion.

Love it. Great tor browser, no ads. Wish it had a function to import my bookmark from safari and to choose the country of my ip appears to be.

Schnozola. -Download understanding the following. -App has been neglected by Developers & no Updates since I downloaded it, about 1.5 years ago -This IS NOT TOR!!! Apple has yet to allow their iOS or phones to use TOR. -When App “sticks” at a %, I found success by closing it, re-opening it(May need to do this a couple of times) -Since this App is NOT TOR, and NOT a VPN, I urge anyone using it to be extraordinarily vigilant and to NOT search the “Dark Web” for any Sites that may be “sensitive”, so to speak! -Only use DuckDuckGo or Disconnect for Search Engines>all the others know and almost, assuredly, sell your Info! -I use it as alternative to Safari which I find very “leaky”

The best out. By far the best for browser in the App Store I sampled them all and this is the best. I'm not saying it's perfect nothing is, it's a lot slower than I would expect it to be but I highly recommend it.

The best so far. This thing is great. I use it in place of Google and safari. A little slower than those two, but you are bouncing your signal all over the world.

Satisfactory. It definitely does it's job in making tor browsing possible on your mobile device without any significant problems!

Very Slow. The app generally take 5+ minutes to open and downloads can take 30-45 minutes. Please let me know how to speed those up.

Secure for sure. After news of other supposedly secure messaging and browsing tools' glaring security holes, Red Browser will cover your security concerns. It's simple to use, perhaps a bit slower than unsecured browsers, but worth it!

Great tool. Does not handle all data types, e.g. flash, but this is likely due to security concerns. For quick work, it is solid if you can get connected to Tor successfully.

It's fixed(at least I thought). Thank you for finally updating But now it seems I cannot create or edit anything in the file system other than playlists/directories or filenames...
