Short on game play. I finished all the levels in a little over a day. And going back and repeating the levels to the highest level ("professor") took another day. Thus my biggest complaint is this game needs more play and more grammar to learn. Also, the gerund vs. participle is confusing. Game did help me learn parts of sentences.

Grammar Pop. I was excited to find this app, not only as a refresher for me but a fun introduction to language for my grandchildren. You can well understand my frustration when I downloaded this app and was told it didn't work on the older models of IPad's, which is what I own!

Great Concept—Poor Execution. I see that other users have identified the problems. Where are the fixes? Seriously.

Grammar Girl Rocks. My 4th grade daughter and I played Grammar Girl after dinner for an hour and only got through level 5 with 3 stats. She laughed that Dad struggled with adjectives vs adverbs and we both learned lots! We bought this thinking it was more like the PBS Word Girl, but it is it's own thing with sentence clouds that you click each word's type (noun, verb, adjective, adverb or article). If they update this app I have 2 suggestions: 1 - Make a boy version so boys will be inclined to play. 2 - Add an animated song for helping users remember which is word type is (noun - person, place or thing). That way kids who don't know the difference between adjectives and adverbs won't have to learn the hard way by constantly clicking the wrong item.

Lackluster, disappointing. When I first started the game I enjoyed it and was ready to recommend it to all of my LA students. Fortunately, I continued to play before making the recommendation. I love your podcast, and I find you to be an excellent resource for improving language use. This game, however, has several incorrect answers in it. The most common has to do with the verb; it often has the player label the past participle verb as a participle, but the participle should be a verbal used as an adjective. In addition, there are at least two cases in which the game labels an adverb as a preposition when it has no object.

Very cool app. Very creative grammar game. Love it!

Amateur programming job. This is a cheap app that tries to leverage the marketability of Grammar Girl. It's quite a sad attempt at programming. There is little attention to detail in the presentation or animation. The graphics are dirt cheap, like Pac-man for the Atari 2600. They could have been done with Windows Paintbrush. Bonus coins (the furthest the game goes for extra game depth) don't really look like coins and don't rotate about their centers when they appear. Tapping the coins cause them to disappear instantly, with no audio feedback. And whoever chose the fonts and colors for the words and buttons doesn't understand either typography or color combinations. I imagine Mignon Fogarty herself thought up the specs in an hour and picked the lowest bidder on Elance, a team of iOS amateurs in Mumbai, to throw it together in a week. I really expected better.

Could be Fun. Even with multiple taps on the correct answer the game does not always acknowledge the answer. You run out of time because the game refuses your choice.

Fun learning experience well worth the price.. Thanks Mignon for putting time into creating this fun and educational game.

Challenging. Loads of fun. Very challenging. I listen to the Podcast. Love it!

Need more time to read the sentence. English is my second language so I need more time to read the sentence. I hope the update will have a choice of time.

Many errors. “For” is not a verb.

Grammar Pop. The iPhone app seems to be in electronic purgatory. I bought and downloaded it but it's nowhere to be found. When I try to download again, I get the helpful message that I've already downloaded it. Drat.

Good as a parts of speech review but not great. Unlike some other reviewers, I wasn't expecting fancy graphics and effects, so I wasn't disappointed, and I didn't have any technical issues. I was looking for a decent parts of speech review to recommend for students, and I think this is a decent one. In the upper levels, however, a few words are not correctly classified, especially a few participles classified as verbs. For instance, in the phrase "cooking class," "cooking" is describing the class and is therefore a participle, not a gerund as the game purports.

Fun and Smart with a Few Miscategorizations. I've played every level, so clearly I love this game. It is a nice refresher course that's also entertaining. Like other reviewers, I noted a few miscategorizations ("spelling" in "spelling bee" isn't a gerund; "there" is miscast as a pronoun). Others I recall were "up" in "catch up" (in that case, it's an adverb, not a preposition) and "her," "their," "my," etc. (they aren't pronouns—but "hers," "his," "theirs," and "mine" would be). Anyway, those issues only made me feel stronger in my grammar, which I gather is the point of the game. Mission accomplished! Thanks!

Shows promise. Shows promise but not worth $2.50. As a game it gets boring very quickly, but it is enjoyable enough way to drill grammar concepts. Sounds need to be adjustable (voices and pops are cute for about 3 levels). Coins are annoying. What are they for? Timer needs to pause between sentences. The delay between sentences needs to be reduced as well (the sliding-clouds effect grows old quickly). I will use it to drill concepts but it is not "fun".... But I have seen worse and I have a funny feeling it will get a lot better.

Love it. One of the only tools I've used that teaches the real difference between participles and gerunds.

Can’t Quit. I thought I wouldn't be able to quit playing, but it turns out IT wont quit. Literally, the app, you can’t quit the app; you have to literally shut down the phone and kill app. Jeese.

Excellent practice!. Finally! This is a fun way to learn grammar. This app is well designed and the levels get progressively harder. It would be great to be used in a classroom setting as well, to support the lesson.
